six sixteen sixty. Bison Hotline is brought to you by Bobcat.
Build a future, Building the future, apply today. Now let's

(01:34):
go live to Applebee's on sixteenth Street North. Here's Brad Jones.

Speaker 6 (01:40):
Well, this looked like about four minutes to go on
the fourth quarter that we were going to be having
a lot of fun here this evening, and it took
a pretty dramatic left turn. NDSU falls in the regular
season finale twenty nine to twenty eight to the University
of South Dakota down in Vermilion. Welcome into Bison hot Line,
brought to you by Bobcat as Brad Jones Jaycave here

(02:04):
to break down what was an eventful game, a lot
to break down. We want all of you to join
us as well, if you can, come on out to
Applebee's across from the Fargo Dome. Always great hosts here
and be with us live. Can also call in and
join the show seven oh one four seven six sixteen sixty,
send us a text at that same number, or send
us an email studio at Bison sixteen sixty dot com.

(02:27):
We've certainly got some thoughts. We heard Phil and Noah
Sam's thoughts as the game was wrapping up, and we'll
make sure we give you a chance to share with
us what your feelings are as NDSU heading into the playoffs,
A little bit of a sour taste in the mouth,
if I can put it mildly here, Jake.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Yeah, you know, just an extremely disappointing loss, like I
don't want to say, like I think Philler or someone
said there's no may coach Pauls after the game, like
no moral victory, like there is a sometimes you lose
like okay, like we went out there. We this is
a kind of along the lines of one of those
unacceptable losses like Ndius, you should not have lost this

(03:05):
football game. I think that's what's the toughest thing right
now that I'm having to swallow, is you know, you
get that drive in the third into the fourth quarter
going ninety nine yards, go up by two scores. I mean,
with four minutes left to go, it was you just
gotta put it, You gotta put that game away.

Speaker 6 (03:23):
It was classic. It was what we have seen for
fifteen twenty years. You want to go back where nds.
You get to the ball in the fourth quarter, you
put together a twenty play, ten plus minute drive to
go up two scores with four minutes left in the
fourth quarter. That is Mariano Rivera coming in. That is
you know, that is the end of the game. That

(03:44):
is it, except for today when it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yeah, and you know what it's game twelve, right or yeah, yeah,
game twelve, and you know our back half, I mean,
this is something I thought we had figured out. And
then you know, I thought we played We played well
against STSU obviously beat them, and then you know, those
last two drives, it was like we totally reverted back
to that defense we saw against you know, Eastern Tennessee,

(04:09):
East Tennessee, and you know, it's just I'm scratching my
head at you know, like Guindy was saying to some
of the play calls down the stretch defensively that lasts
I'm trying to figure out what coverage you were and
on that last one looked like they might have had
a tight end running free down the middle of the
field too. You know, we had four defenders kind at
the top of the numbers, like all within ten yards
of each other. Like that's that's not good. And then

(04:30):
we just let it. It's breaks my heart, I know
it breaks like and don't think I know, guys arena
calling now and be upset the people. This lost is
the toughest on gran Olson, Tim Paul sec Nick Gazer,
Jake Landry, Like, as bad as we feel right now,
I guarantee they feel ten times worse. But obviously I
know we're gonna we're the fans of the media, so

(04:50):
right we get to speak our mind and say that.
But just they feel extreme bad too.

Speaker 6 (04:55):
It's for a ten and two team U team that
is a share of the Missouri Valley champion. It's a
team that probably that should have lost against these Tennessee
States probably should.

Speaker 4 (05:08):
Probably should have.

Speaker 6 (05:09):
You know, if these two games switch, if we lose
ease Tennessee State but win this one, it's a it's
a whole different feeling with the exact same record, yep,
And but here we are it's the last game of
the year, and we're going into the playoffs with with
the loss. Uh, we're gonna head to the All Star
Construction hotline. We got a we gotta line waiting. Let's
not waste time. We're gonna go to the icon here

(05:31):
in Fargo. First icon is gonna kick us off. How
are we doing well?

Speaker 7 (05:35):
Hey, guys, a little devastated, but a couple of things. Sure,
we have no reason to hang our head on this.
And yes it's a it's not a lot, it's not
a loss. But we wanted to take a couple of
points on that. Would you rather lose now or losing
the playoffs and be one and done? That's point number one.

Speaker 8 (05:53):
Point number two.

Speaker 7 (05:55):
Cam Miller said that he was gonna take the blame
on this one. No one is to blame for this law.
If there's anything to blame, it would be the play
selection call, the last call of the game.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
What is this?

Speaker 7 (06:09):
Why were we doing this? West Coast? Leave stuff, the
pitching and stuff, play our game.

Speaker 9 (06:16):
Don't do that?

Speaker 10 (06:17):
Why do that?

Speaker 9 (06:18):
That's my other point, and my.

Speaker 7 (06:22):
Last question is are you guys going to be carrying
the uh the selections show on the radio?

Speaker 11 (06:30):
Row.

Speaker 7 (06:30):
Those are my questions and points thanks, guys.

Speaker 12 (06:32):
Have a good run.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Icon thanks for the call.

Speaker 6 (06:35):
I understand keeping the head up and again we should
it's it's maybe not now.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Maybe maybe now we need.

Speaker 6 (06:41):
A chance to uh to kind of work through some things,
shall we say? But but yeah, you look at overall
in the season, we're going to be a top four season. Yes,
and so you're looking at two home games in the playoffs,
you're in pretty good, pretty good shape. The other thing
Icon did want to did ask if we are going
to be carrying the bracket reveal. Yes, we'll be live

(07:03):
on Bison sixteen sixty tomorrow from eleven to noon, and
that'll be brought to you by First Western Bank. So
make sure you're make sure you're tuned in to Bison
sixteen sixty, get all the reaction, everything that you need
from the from the bracket.

Speaker 2 (07:16):
Yeah. No, I agree obviously. Like you said, kind of
twenty four hour rule. If it's a big win, you
take twenty four hours. Celebrate a big loss, take twenty
four hours, you know, steam about it, be mad, and
then you know, once the sun comes up tomorrow, which
I'm pretty sure it will come up, well it will
hopefully that'd be weird if you didn't, you have bigger problems,
And that's right, that's right, that's all right. But no,
like you said it was, it's been a great season.

(07:38):
There's still a lot of season left. There's a lot
of football to be played. We're still not a final
product as an NBSU football team. So and today we
learned and we still have a lot of work to
do to get to that final product. And you know,
I had an ability to watch the Montana State game,
Montana State, Montana Day. That team out in Bozeman's a
really freaking good football team too, And obviously STSU and
USD like it's gonna be some good playoff games as

(08:00):
we get later in the playoffs. But no, I appreciate
the positivity.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (08:04):
And and the your point to the last play of
the game too, there's six seconds left. There's not not
a lot of plays to go ninety yards on one
play in the in the playbook, you're trying to make
a lot of different things happen, hoping the defense makes
a mistake and you're needing a big mistake at that point,
and it just didn't happen.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
All right.

Speaker 6 (08:22):
Back to the All Star construction, hotline. We're gonna go
to Mark from Perham next. Mark, you're on Bisen hotline.

Speaker 8 (08:28):
Oh, how you guys doing today?

Speaker 4 (08:30):
Well that's about right. Welp is about right?

Speaker 8 (08:35):
Yeah, well be uh the we we My thought on
this game is we don't we shouldn't even deserve the
deserve the uh Missouri Valley Conference champion. I think it
goes it goes to the goes to the Coyotes, and
number two, where the heck and what the heck did

(08:59):
our defense do here? I think a seventh grade height,
seventh grade football team could have beat him in the
last three minutes.

Speaker 9 (09:06):
That's my point.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Yeah, it's it's I understand the feelings.

Speaker 6 (09:11):
And even in there, the defense made some plays and
the number of things that had to go perfectly right
for South Dakota to get that win was staggering.

Speaker 4 (09:24):
They gave up a sack.

Speaker 13 (09:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
I was like sitting on my couch and we got
the sack. I'm like, okay, there there it is. There's
like twenty seconds gone. Yeah, it's just I mean the
kickoff that doesn't happen to roll in the like how
you can kick a ball sixty odd yards and then
get it to sit down and like, I wish I
could do that with my nine iron, like I think
Don was talking about. But yeah, I mean that one right,

(09:46):
I mean the face mask is. I was just sitting
on the TV like I'm like, no way, this is
going to happen, and it just kept happening and happening.

Speaker 6 (09:54):
One of those things, one of those things flips and
all of a sudden, this is a different conversation that
we are having where we dodged a bullet and and
you know what, we're coming back in an ugly game
and and got there and you know, usd very maybe
the two or three seed We lost by one to
the tour three seeds down at their place in a

(10:15):
game that we should have one up two scores with form.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
And so and don't. So that is their biggest win
in program history. That was potentially their biggest game.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
I mean, it's it's gonna be in the conversation.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Absolutely, it's up there, and yeah, I mean it's just
I just it's just it's crappy when you kind of
have that slipped through your hands like that at THEA
like we had that game, we had the cover right
and then it.

Speaker 6 (10:40):
Just yeah, all right, we're gonna go one more, one
more call, and then we'll take a break here.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Sherry from Fargo has been waiting.

Speaker 6 (10:46):
Sherry, thanks for joining us here on Bizon Hotline.

Speaker 14 (10:51):
I both the jash Rain and then Kyle playing Division
two teams. I think and the SU should be the
number two seeds because of that, Cherry.

Speaker 6 (11:05):
Thanks for calling. I think that's a great point, and
it's something that is going to be a really interesting
conversation for the committee that Matt Larson's not going to
be able to be a part of the Valley REP
isn't going to be able to be in there to
try to parse that out because you're looking at it, Yeah,
you've got none D one wins for USD and SDSU.

(11:25):
You've got USD playing one fewer game than than NDSU
and and SDSU. You know, you've got teams. NDSU played
Colorado much closer than SDSU played Oklahoma State, and you
let's see USD, I believe had a I've got their
schedule pulled up here. You know they lost by fourteen

(11:46):
at a mediocre at best Wisconsin team. So I don't
think the number two seed is completely out of the
question for NDSU.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
No, I mean it just can I do like mental
hula hoops here it is. You can't put s s
U over NDSU because ndias and then you can't put
us D over s to the but someone's gonna someone's
gonna get there onto the deal. Yeah, I feel like
it might be South Dakota just because they're South Dakota.
I would hope that you know the brand of South
Coast State NDSU. I don't know if that carries a

(12:17):
little weight. I think it should, right, I think you know,
I just I don't know. It's gonna be tough. I
I wouldn't want to be in that room. Actually, I
would want to be in that room because I tell
them what I think. God get us the two seed, but.

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Right, and and to throw it on top of it too.

Speaker 6 (12:29):
All in the three little round robin games that we have,
the home team won each one exactly. So I mean,
how you're going to parse this out? You know, a
three point overtime win for SDSU over over us D,
a one point win at home for for us D,
and then NDSU won by four. So these games, these
three games were decided by a total of eight points.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Yeah, wild, I mean, let's just do just get rid
of all the other teams all Montana's yea there, we
stay home. Yeah right, I'll just find out do a playoff,
all right.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
I like it. I like it all right.

Speaker 6 (13:02):
We're gonna sort out a whole new playoff bracket. That's
that's coming up next. Keep the calls coming seven oh one,
four seven six, sixteen sixty. We got a whole bunch

Speaker 12 (17:38):

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Guesses name Chips, the Brown runs off the website, got
into the zone. Touchdown.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
Boy, it sure felt like that was it.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
It looked like a replay of games we'd seen so
many times before. And then it wasn't Spraad Jones in
for Andy Rickoff today? Who after that? He may actually
be taking some time to wander the wilderness of Alaska,
which was the joke we made during game day this morning.
But it might might actually be happening right now. But
we want to get I want to get, of course,

(18:20):
your reaction. Give us a caller. Text in at seven
oh one four seven six sixteen sixty on the All
Star Construction hotline. You can also email in at studio
at Bison sixteen sixty dot com. All right, let's uh,
I know we've got a caller on hold. Let's roll
through the text here. First, we got one Pete in
fergus Fall saying could it would have shout a time

(18:40):
in Fargo? Yep, gonna be a fair amount of that.
I think that's fair to say. Had had over that
our Polish Bison. What a great college game. Cam played
one of the best, played one of his best games
with a fantastic long drive in the fourth quarter. All
will be forgotten is code green didn't finish, didn't finish
the job, a couple of a couple of doom and

(19:01):
glooms of hopefully they will do something next season.

Speaker 4 (19:06):
Let's let's pause on that.

Speaker 6 (19:08):
What I I think this did is and and and
there's a couple other texts in a in a similar
realm here, I would say what this did to me,
more so than saying ndis you can't is showing that
I came into this weekend thinking there were three teams
that can and I think that number is now four.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Yeah, no, I agree, bind Stock And then I think
they proved it. Then you know, they put South Kota,
South Cost, South Cost State. South Dakota played well. I mean,
did they play well enough to win the game. Well,
obviously they did so, yes, but we gave it to him,
which is frustrating. But no, that's a team that can
make a deep playoff run. And I think if they
happen to get the two seed at is the Dakota

(19:46):
dolom a tough place to go and play potentially.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
You know, we played really poorly.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
You know, we had nine yards were nine plays and
then we're up to touch, you know, or up to
scores in the in the fourth quarter. Is this team
going to be scared to go play in the Dakota
Go Dome. No, I don't think so.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
And here's and here's the other peace for other teams. Sure,
I got you, I got you.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Here.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
Here's the other thing too, now that when you are
putting a fourth team, you know, when there's a clear
fourth team, it almost makes it matter a little less.
Of course, you don't want to have to go on
the road. You want to make teams come to the
Fargo Dome to do this. You're going to have to
beat two of those teams to win a title, regardless
of where you're at in the one through four conversation.

(20:31):
That's just the way it is. That's what INDISU is
going to have to do.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Yeah, And Chris, driving back from a vermillion Medigod comment,
texted me he said, we can't spot them fourteen points
before we even wake up and start going. Yeah, obviously
we can talk about the end of the game and everything,
but you know, NBSU kind of sleep walked off the
bus and before you know what, boom, we're down fourteen
and like, oh yeah, their football game going on.

Speaker 18 (20:53):
Right.

Speaker 6 (20:53):
All right, let's let's get back back to the All
Star Construction hotline. Carl from Argusville is the Carl. Thanks
for holding welcome by his hotline.

Speaker 12 (21:03):
Yeah, yeah, hi guys. Number one Bob Nielsen best posts
in the country. And I'm disappointed in our personal falls
like stepping on a guy when he's on the ground
that sun Bison like and really not called for. But
I think our problem is lack of a.

Speaker 7 (21:22):
Of a running game.

Speaker 12 (21:23):
My question is if we would have had their running back,
we would have would have been a different game. And
when is the last time we had I mean, thank
god we've got Cam Miller and we could run him,
and actually, towards the end of the game there they
probably should have ran him with the option that he
could have passed if somebody was open. If not, he
could have kept running to the sideline or tried to

(21:46):
get a few yards. But we really haven't had a
good running back in many years.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
Thank you, Thanks Carl, appreciate the call.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
I think Marty Brown is is that Eureka I think
is going to be I think they're a really good
one two punch.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Yeah, Marty's young.

Speaker 6 (22:03):
I mean he's gonna be He's gonna be really really
good in nd s U And we talked about this
during game day this morning. You're gonna have a thousand
yard rusher this year for the for the first time
in a while. Is he there yet? At the with
these sds you guys, No, I think he's going to
be a monster in a year or two.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
Yeah, no, I think you know, Marty Brown's young back,
because solid Marty Brown will get there. But you know,
if you're like comparing them, you know, toe to toe
with Travis Tys and the Pierre Pierre Strung or no.

Speaker 4 (22:35):
Now Pierre, see now I get confused. I get with
the sd s U former SDCU.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
And those two guys are the two best backs in
the Missouri Valley arguably probably two of the best backs
in the entire country at the FCS level. So if
we compare them directly to them, are they better play?
As Travis Tys was probably one of the best football
players on the field today. We couldn't tackle him in
the first half.

Speaker 6 (22:57):
Couldn't tackle him, and there were there were too many
times where for to tempt tackling it was four or
five yards down the exactly.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
So I mean, I don't want to sit here and
be like, oh, yeah, if we had these, we have
the guys on our roster to win that game by
three scores.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
Absolutely, honestly, my honest opinion, we can beat that team
by three touchdowns. We didn't. We gotta figure out why
we didn't and fix that so it doesn't happen again,
which I think someone said he was the icon. Good
thing this lost happened now and not right in our
next game because next game season's over.

Speaker 6 (23:26):
Right back to the All Star Construction hot line. Charlie
from Hillsboro is with us. Charlie, you're on Bison hot line.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
Go Bison, Charlie, you're on.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Good right now, go Bison.

Speaker 22 (23:40):
Yep, we got Charlie. Hello, Charlie, are you there. I'm there,
I'm here, all right, go ahead.

Speaker 9 (23:53):
Yeah, here's what happened to day. We got seat on
a line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball,
and our second day got exposed. I'll hang up and
listen and be real.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
Yeah, I would say I'd agree with your second point
little bit more. I think our secondary did get exposed.
You know, I thought we got good pressure on Bauman
for the most part, you know, will most start with
the sack fumble Jackson, dude that for the big sack,
Eli was getting pressure, and then I thought our old
you know, I would agree with you. Right away in
the game, I was like, oh, boy, like I don't

(24:28):
know if we can block these guys first Obviously first
quarter was awful, but I think Gray and those guys
did a better job going for I think it was
a maybe even matchup front. But then we did get
exposed in the back half and just that's what happened.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Yeah, And it was the time where you knew they
were going to pass. You knew they were going.

Speaker 6 (24:47):
To pass, and and couldn't stop it against a quarterback
where you knew he was going to be in the pocket. Yeah,
you know, and that's something that typically does not happen
and should not happen.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
Yeah, And you know, like you always get worried in
some of those late game situations when you got quarterback
that's gonna break contain, like you were saying, and get
outside the pocket and like make something like we knew
that Bauman was gonna sit back there like a statue
and just chuck the ball up, and we just I mean,
like we're in cover two and Crumby's just got bad
eyes and goes with the post and then gives them.

(25:19):
It was just frustrating stuff that you know, those guys
are gonna watch the film and just be like, you
know it can happen. I don't know, you know, you
kind of get back to like, oh, it'd be really
nice to have our all American Cole was Neski and
our other starter Sam Young back there like that would
have helped. But you know, we have what we have,
and what we have is good enough. We just gotta
make plays, and they didn't make plays today.

Speaker 6 (25:40):
Text from Tony asking when the bracket selection show will be.
The bracket comes out tomorrow at eleven thirty, and we'll
be live here on Bison sixteen sixty from eleven to
noon tomorrow to have reaction and be able to go
through the brackets so I can tune in for that.
That show is gonna be brought to you by First
Western Bank, and trust uh, we'll see where NDSU ends

(26:02):
up again. I don't think the two seed is out
of the realm of possibility for NDSU Lakes Area text
in m s U one, nd SU two, USD three, SDSU.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Four that's very possible.

Speaker 6 (26:16):
I have no idea, and usually I feel pretty good
about where with watching and paying attention, you know, my show,
the Tailgate show, that's what I do is look at
all of the things going on outside in the uh
in the FCS.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (26:32):
I don't know where that's where, that's going to uh,
where that's going to be. So yeah, it's uh, it's
gonna be gonna be an interesting look tomorrow at how
the bracket is going to shake out. And I don't
know that I'm going to complain unless they drop one
of these four teams. Anything below four, UC Davis is
probably gonna put their hand up and say, hey, we

(26:54):
deserve to be up there. I think I would disagree.
I think at these four along with Montana State is
the one, and then SDSU USD NDSU.

Speaker 2 (27:02):
Until your four Yeah, no, I agree, and then yeah,
And honestly, for the rest of the bracket, you know,
your next five, six, seven, eight, those buys and the
rest of the twenty four doesn't really matter in my opinion,
because your champion's coming out of the four teams we're
talking about right now. It's just gonna unless something absolutely
insane happens. Your champion in Frisco is gonna be one

(27:24):
of these four teams.

Speaker 6 (27:25):
Be pretty surprised if that didn't happen. All right, lots
more to lots more to get to here, We're gonna
take a break. I know, we got Brad on hold
and we'll get to all of that. We'll get to
any emails, texts as well that we get in.

Speaker 12 (27:37):

Time for more reaction from today's game, Here again is
your host Andy Rickoff on six.

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Remaining first half. I I sent down fourteen to seven
second at ten own seventeen low step to Miller four
man stunt upfront camp fires weft side complete press. Im
Nelson has it at the twenty seven yard line first
down Bison ten yard completion and there's a new king
of passing at QBU. Cam Miller with that throw has

(32:16):
just become the new all time leader in passing yards
in North Dakota State football history.

Speaker 6 (32:23):
Solid game from Cam again, took some hits, lot, lot
of wear and tear today, nineteen carries in addition to
all of the dropbacks and passes that we saw from
Cam eighty two yards and a touchdown on the ground,
completed ten of his twenty two passes for a buck
seventy four and a score. They needed every bit of it.

(32:45):
Oh and it wasn't It was enough from Cam. You're
gonna say, it's just it wasn't enough. And sure you
would have liked one of those first three drives to
go more than three plays. Yep, it was enough to
win the game.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Yeah, And I think that showed you know, when we
play these games against kind of the the big four
that we keep talking about, you know it's gonna take
that performance from Cam Miller. We're gonna have to use
his legs to win these games. I think against STSU
did a great job running the ball. I think he
did a great job to day. Not having Cole Payton.
You know, I think that definitely puts a little bit
more pressure on Cam to be able to run the

(33:17):
ball and kind of g down on some of those
QB run packages. But yeah, good game from Cam. I
think he obviously I don't. After the game he said
it was on him. Camon wasn't on you, obviously. Yes,
the first quarter was not great, but you played it was.
It was on Code Green defensive guys. Totally let that
game slip away at the end.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
All right, let's head back to the All Star Construction
hot line. We have Brad on the line. Brad over
here as well. Brad, thanks for joining us.

Speaker 27 (33:43):
Hey there, guys, a great show tonight.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
Hey.

Speaker 27 (33:49):
A couple of comments just coming off of that. I
Cam's one of the best quarterbacks in DSUs dad, one
of my favorite. I didn't think he took a step
back to day. It seemed like he was a whole
holding it, holding onto it too long. It's always hard
to tell if he's got guys running open or not.
It did seem that he was holding on to it.
The other question I did have for you is on

(34:11):
that on site kick, is there are we still allowed
to fair catch or kneel the ball inside the twenty
and get it out or does it have to go
in the end zone to take a kneel down there?

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yeah, I believe obviously they never had me back catching
the kicks very often and the issue. But I do
think you can fair catch it, but because it hit
the ground, I don't think you can after that. After
it hits the ground, it's live. I do think that
momentum and this would be up to the rest discretion,

(34:46):
but momentum can if momentum takes you into the end zone,
it can be a touchback. But then that's giving it
up to the referee to be like, Okay, where was
the momentum at and then watch a little bit longer.
I think it would have took one more bounce it
would have went the end zone. But you get to
the point where you're just scrambling, like because if they
recover that in the end zone, it's a touchdown for
right some koda? Right? Yeah? And then what was his

(35:08):
first question or comment?

Speaker 4 (35:11):
Man, that's a yeah, I was.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
I was kind of going where you were at too,
so Brad, Brad, I apologize, our memories are scrambled here
as we're trying to it was a.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Oh I have it. I think I wrote it down. Actually,
Oh Cam patting the ball? Oh yeah, No, I agree too.
I do think Cam looked a little uncomfortable at times,
you know, I thought the offensive line gave him time
and he just kind of sat back there and patted
the ball and patted the ball. It's almost a little
gunshy just to kind of let her rip sometimes. So
I don't know. I think I'm guessing you'd kind of
need the all twenty two version to know what he's

(35:43):
looking at. I'm sure USD did a great job disguising
coverages and their back half as solid, so I think
they probably did some things that affected Cam. But no,
I would agree. I think I wouldn't say it took
a step back. I just think he wasn't as crisp
as we're accustomed to seeing him, right, And you know
that that kind of it hurt us a little bit
today in the game.

Speaker 4 (36:00):
It's the hard part about watching a game on TV.
I'm used to.

Speaker 6 (36:03):
You know, usually I'm up in the press box watching
the game, and up there you're seeing everything and being
able to see, Okay, where did he miss? Where was
you know, where was his head at what was he
looking and who was open? Really difficult to see that
on on TV to try and know where he's at.

Speaker 2 (36:20):
I don't know. I watched the wdo I broadcast. I
don't know if mid codest any better, but like with
some of the the angle, like when on that near
you could not see a thing. Yeah, I'm like, what
do we fans that stand up? I'm like, this is bad.
I don't know mid codes any better, but I was,
I I had.

Speaker 6 (36:35):
I was watching the WB feat as well, so tough,
tough camrangles and some of those tight domes for sure.
Back to the All Star construction Auto from West Fargo.
Is there Auto? You're on Bison hotline?

Speaker 9 (36:46):
Hi, guys, So fives are up by eleven and after
that point in time, I can use two words to
describe the offensive defense and the coaching staff the iron necktie. Yeah,
I mean they had to get maybe two three first

(37:09):
downs after that game over, they never get the ball back.

Speaker 2 (37:16):
And even eat it.

Speaker 9 (37:19):
There's got to be played in the whole repertoire that
would keep South Dkota off of the field. So you know,
somebody said that work. Oh maybe it's a good thing.

Speaker 14 (37:32):
They last.

Speaker 9 (37:33):
No, no, the good thing would have been winning the
conference outright and going in number one with no Now
we don't have to worry about being number two or three.
I think will be number two because of strength of schedule.
I don't think number two will be South Kota State
in any way as we beat them at the end.
And how do you jumped them from four to two,

(37:53):
because they'd be just by a point. I don't know.
I think we're two.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
But have a good night.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
Yeah, thank you very much. Otto.

Speaker 6 (38:01):
Yeah, I mean it's you needed two first downs and
and that first down play when you go, you know,
when you all of a sudden you go from first
and ten to second and fourteen and a minute left.
You're trying to get South Dakota to burn the time
out so that exactly what they did happen so that
a sack doesn't cost them, you know, five seconds, two seconds,

(38:22):
it cost them twenty. Yeah, we got the sack and
you got the sack and just did not I mean
just secondary did not do what they needed to do.

Speaker 2 (38:31):
Yeah, no, I'd agree with you don't kind of know
what Guindy for. You know what Gendorf nickname Guindy Guindy
was talking about in the post game too, about you
know we've been kind of gashed them up the middle
and then we try to run, you know, pin and pull.
It just didn't work. And no, I agree with your
comments there. I mean I think we were passing the
ball really well kind of there. And then there is

(38:52):
the factor of time timeouts. But at some point, and
Kyle Manuel is saying this on a TV br just
give the ball a cam and say, hey, you go
get a first down here at two first downs, we
win the game. On the flip side of that, what
are we saying here? If they do throw the ball,
then Cam throws a pick and someone walks in on
a slant rail that a dB steps in front, and
they're like, well, you got to run the ball and
run the clock and pun and trust your defense. Well

(39:13):
it's yeah, it's a dual edged sword.

Speaker 6 (39:15):
It's the hindsight piece because if you if you throw
the ball on second and fourteen at that point, what
are you doing? You know, then it's it's you're right,
You're gonna give them the ball back with a with
a time out. Now when they we get the sack
and now they're calling a time out, and it's like well,
we should run the ball and so that they didn't
have the time out, So that takes care of it.
So you're you're gonna you're gonna pay and poll and

(39:37):
that's not sports.

Speaker 4 (39:38):
That's what we do.

Speaker 6 (39:39):
That's part of the reason we have a show is
to be able to do some of those, uh, some
of those kind of things. And it just stinks. It's
going to sting for today. We'll see how badly it's stung,
hen we when we see the the bracket bracket tomorrow.
It does clarify that Montana State will be the number one.
There's no, you know, no questions about that deserved number one.

(40:01):
And Bozeman's gonna be a real tough place to play
for whoever ends up in the four to five spot.

Speaker 2 (40:06):
And I mean, if if this goes the way, you
know that some of our fans and viewers, maybe a
lot of them think if we end up section show
comes up to my rown. We're the two seed. Yeah,
it's terrible that we lost, and we want to we're
still a value champion, you know, Granted we have to
share it with our two little brothers to the south,
but we're the two seeds. So everyone's still coming through
the Fargo Dome. It's kind of no harm, no foul. Obviously,

(40:27):
you don't ever want to go into the playoffs on
a loss. But at the end of the day, it's
a bye week. Guys, we'll forget about it. We're the
two seed, everyone's coming. Semi finals are going to be
in Fargo.

Speaker 4 (40:36):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (40:36):
If the three seed, four seed, then you're sitting there like, okay,
we kind of really hurt ourselves. But we'll see what
the committee does. I don't I'm it does It does
stink that we have to leave it to a committee
to decide it where we could.

Speaker 6 (40:48):
Have had it all right, I'm gonna ask you a question, yep,
save the answer for after the break. It's called a
t's in the business here. If we end up as
either the three or the four seed, where do you
least want to go on the semifinals? Montana State USD
South Dakota State JCAVS answered to that, come is coming up,
coming up after the break.

Yeah, I think he's did a fantastic job today playing
defensive end. Obviously, the injury to Dylan Hendricks kind of
forced Will to have to move out to a full
time defensive end position, which he actually came to NDSU
started out as a defensive end. But I think he's added. Ah,
he's a little bit bigger guy. I think he's winning
around two sixty two seventy, which is a bigger defensive
end for NDSU's standards. But I think he's doing a

(46:20):
great job. Obviously, got the uh the strip sack right
away and in the first it was the first quarter,
second quarter early in the game. Ye, But I think
he played great out there, and that's gonna be a big,
a big role to kind of have. You know, as
we see you know, at the end of games, we
need to get pressure on the quarterback, which we did
get a sack, but it would have been nice to

(46:41):
have another one and then they wouldn't got the ball off.
But no, I think Will has done a great job
out there and happy to he's our player of.

Speaker 6 (46:47):
The game, absolutely, and and he's had to he's had
to mix it up a little bit, play a little
d NS this year, Army Knife. Yeah, he's uh in
doing that your senior year. That's an adjustment and and
he's just continued to be a great contributor. So Brad
Jones former Buys and jaycavet here at Applebee's across from
the Fargo Dome. Come on out if you're need a

(47:10):
little supper here tonight. Great place to be. Also, we're
getting into Christmas shopping season already. We got a month
to go there.

Speaker 4 (47:17):
Come on in.

Speaker 6 (47:17):
If you buy fifty dollars in gift cards, you get
a ten dollars gift card on us here at Applebee's.
So some great options there for people you're looking for
for some Christmas presents in your life as well. Twenty
nine to twenty eight is the is the final score here?

Speaker 4 (47:33):
All right.

Speaker 6 (47:33):
I'd asked you a question before the before the break,
So if you're NDSU, will say either the toughest or
the places you least want to have to go and
play in the postseason. If you had to rank them
between Montana State, between USD, between South Dakota State, you know.

Speaker 2 (47:48):
I'll start off by answering at asap any squad any
place well com will be okay. But yeah, as a
as a member of the media that's and a former player,
I can speak on that. First off, I think for NDSU,
the toughest place to have to go play a semi
final game if we had to go down to Brookings,
it's tough to beat a team twice. We got them

(48:09):
up here obviously about a month ago or whatever it
was like going down there. I think still we're the
top two teams in the country. You know, in a
vacuum US a STSU number two would be going out
to Bozeman to play Montana State. Obviously we've had their
number for seems like forever. They're just itching to finally

(48:30):
beat US. But they got a real good team.

Speaker 12 (48:32):
I know.

Speaker 2 (48:32):
Coach Vegan, obviously a former Bison, has those guys playing
really well. Out in Bozeman and the number three the
easiest play. If we had a semi final game, we
go back down to Vermilion. I will be down there
a boat, a lot of other Bison fans will be
down there. The code to the game will be playoffs
will invade the Dakota Dome and go down there. I
think we'd beat them pretty handily in the semi finals.

Speaker 6 (48:53):
Okay, We've talked around this a little bit. I want
to kind of clarify thoughts on this when we're looking
at that two, three, four seed discussion. The more I'm
thinking about it, the more I'm looking at it, I
think the easier the equation becomes.

Speaker 4 (49:07):
In some ways.

Speaker 6 (49:08):
You're gonna throw out the games against each other. Are
those are all equal? Everybody won at home, everybody won
by four points or less. All of those to me
are equal. You all lost to an FBS team. You
can you know, you can parse how good some of
those FBS teams are you lost to. You lost to
an FBS team, You're gonna throw those out as well.

(49:29):
You look at the best wins after that. NDSU's got
Illinois State, that is a playoff team out of the valley.
That NDSU won handily on the road. You beat Missouri
State handily at home, a team that would be probably
on the bubble of the FCS playoffs. You beat Tennessee
State who and I'm still parsing out the the what

(49:50):
is it Big South o VC Combination Conference on where
they're but they are winning right now and have a
chance to get the auto bid and be another playoff team. Plus,
you went on the road at East Tennessee State. They're
a fringe, probably not gonna get in, but they'll get
up to seven wins, though those are all some version

(50:12):
of good to decent wins.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
There.

Speaker 6 (50:14):
You go over to South Dakota State Incarnate Word at home,
won by three touchdowns. That's a solid win. That's a
very good win. Incarnate Word I think a little overrated
this year, but they're going to be in the conversation
for a seed after that. They pounded Missouri State on
the road today. We'll give them that. There's not much
else on on SDSU's schedule as far as solid wins.

(50:36):
Let's go to UH let's go to USD. You know,
he beat Southern Illinois, who was ranked at the Times.
That's proven to be pretty flukish Their best win outside
of beating NDSU was maybe last week on the road
at Undah. There's not much else there that is that

(50:56):
is where is where the discussion is going to come around.
And I think when you eliminate all of the things
that are equal amongst these teams, that I think is
where that discussion is gonna come to be. And that's
gonna make it If that happens, it's gonna make some
people real mad down South tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (51:15):
But it makes sense. I mean, obviously we're biased, but
we're trying, we're trying to look at this from one
hundred foot, you know, looking but taking all my bias out,
which obviously can't because I bleed hering in gold. I mean,
it makes sense. You're speaking my language over here.

Speaker 13 (51:29):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (51:30):
Yeah, I don't know, like, does the selection committee come
out and do they say, like, Okay, here's what we
look like. Will they give us like they say, we
took out the games and we looked at like will
they tell us that?

Speaker 4 (51:43):
So here's the hard part.

Speaker 6 (51:44):
The person that would come tell us that is the
committee chair, right, Yeah, The committee chair is Matt Larsarson,
who can't be in the discussion for that since it's
all valley teams that they're you know that they're trying
to figure out, including you know, our team.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
I do have a really close relationship with Matt Larson.
I know he might be less on his way back
way down to the volleyball tournament. I might be I
might be calling you miss. Yeah, Lars, you want to
calling Matt? You want to call him? What's the number?

Speaker 14 (52:10):

the regular season we've all kind of felt it, gotten
our feelings out there. We're bringing it around though I
knew we could do it. We're bringing that positive the

(53:00):
back around here after a disappointing twenty nine to twenty
eight loss down in Vermilion to South Dakota. And again
we've we've given South Dakota credit. You know, Pierre Junior
seven carries for twenty eight yards, expected more out of him.
Today it was Travis Tice who was just an absolute maniac.
Thirteen carries, sixty six yards, two touchdowns, and a whole

(53:22):
lot of yards after contact.

Speaker 13 (53:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (53:24):
You know, he's a tough player and I know got
mentioned like six times. They probably that about me too,
but this guy has been playing forever. He has been
but no, he they knew going in the game. You know,
he's a tough back to bring down. And you know,
I thought they did better after you know, the first half.
I saw Phil was talking they're practicing tackling at halftime.
I would like to get some videos on that. I

(53:45):
don't know how like, uh yeah, I need to see
that before I believe it. Okay, maybe it happened, but
uh yeah, he's he's a really good player and they
have like South Girl's good. They're good. Yeah, period, they're
good at South Dkota. South Dakota Coyotes are a good
football team.

Speaker 6 (54:02):
All right, We're gonna we got a lot more to

Speaker 6 (58:58):
Big play there again, some great plays by the Bison
offense during the game, not quite enough, twenty nine to
twenty eight USD with the win. All right, let's let's
go to the Jiffy Lube. Butfargo scoreboard. We've talked about
the top four. We feel pretty good about who those
top four teams are gonna be. So the breakdown, and
we got a text about this at seven to one, four, seven, six,

(59:18):
sixteen sixty. Top two seeds get home field all the
way through to a potential game in Frisco. Three and
four are guaranteed two home games should they should they
win that many games, but you're gonna get two games
at home. Five through eight you'll get one home game,
but you'll also get that first round by feel pretty
good about three Dakota schools in Montana state the first four.

Speaker 2 (59:38):
So a question I would have, so one and two
are hours at home? Yep, this three go to two
and four go to one all corres true?

Speaker 6 (59:45):
Yes, that would be where they would where they would go.
So whoever ends up is the four seed likely gonna
be looking at a at a trip to Boston in
the in the semi finals. So and then yeah, five
through eight, that's where it gets messy. Probably the cleanest
one right now. I think you see Davis. Should they
beat Sacramento State. The Hornets just scored a touchdown that
Pat is pending to tie things up there. That's a

(01:00:08):
rivalry game. Even as bad as Sacramento State and as
disappointing as the Hornets have been this year, they're playing
the the Aggi's tough if you see Davis wins that game,
which ifs are a whole big thing here on the
last week's under the regular season has one and six
in the Big Sky for for sax State. So yeah,
been a rough go of it. If you see Davis
pulls that out, I think they're pretty solid five seed.

(01:00:29):
I don't know that there's another question about that. After
that is where things get rough. Montana may have had
a claim about that, I think is the right way
to go there. Idaho is gonna have something to say
about that. If they beat Idaho State currently up ten
nothing at the two minute warning in the first half,
they would have have a conversation about that. I think

(01:00:49):
Mercer from the smaller school teams probably has the has
the best best shot. Their defense has been pretty good
all year. Even the game they gave up a ton
of points. That was a lot of, uh, you know,
things that didn't involve the defensive, special team, offense, turn around, turnovers.
So that's gonna be that's gonna be one that I
can see getting a seed in there. Richmond won, I

(01:01:12):
believe twenty seven nothing or twenty eight nothing, something like
that today. Uh, they're probably gonna be a seed. They
were undefeated in the in the CIA, and as much
as you can stand out in kind of that mess
of a conference, right they're probably there. Villanova beat Delaware today.
That's a good win over a good Delaware team that
would be a playoff team at nine and two if

(01:01:33):
they were eligible. So even despite a loss against Monmouth
last week, that makes this less of a guarantee. They're
gonna have a conversation about that. We thought Simo might
be involved. But if Simo loses today, that's gonna open
up a spot. And if they do not get the
auto bid, that's gonna shrink that bubble down a team
as well.

Speaker 2 (01:01:50):
And then that Tennessee State beats them, Look for.

Speaker 4 (01:01:54):
Us, that makes a better win. Yeah, so it's uh,
it's it gets messy there.

Speaker 6 (01:02:01):
I'm gonna be honest, I'm not even gonna attempt at
this point to go through everything else. Incarnate Word's gonna
have a say on a seed as well. I think
they will at least be at least be brought up.
Stonybrook lost today, I believe, to Monmouth fifty five to
forty seven. Not exactly a lot of defense there, So

(01:02:22):
that dropped them out of contention for a seed. They're
probably still in the playoffs. Abilene Christian. They've got the
uac AQ bid. Lehigh won today, so they got the
they'll get the Patriot League auto bid. Central Connecticut State
beat Duquine today in all win, and you're in for
the for the NEC title.

Speaker 4 (01:02:39):
So they are in.

Speaker 6 (01:02:41):
Drake, who I believe USD beats. Yes, they may be
a play I gotta look and see if they beat
Stetson today, because if they did, Drake is in. I'll
pull that game up. So just there in this teams
that I felt pretty good about coming in. You're looking
at eighteen nineteen schools that were there, and then five

(01:03:01):
bids for a whole lot of teams from there.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Yeah, it'll be interesting this year too. Obviously they're seeding
one through sixteen, correct, So then you'll that'll be interesting
to see, you know how that affects it. And I
think I think that'll be a good thing. I'm glad
they're doing it just for you know, so you know,
because that'll get rid of the bids for home field advantage, correct,
it should, I believe think yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:03:23):
I believe. So Drake did win. So Drake win. SIONI
your league, so they are in as well.

Speaker 6 (01:03:28):
The one and I don't know how they would do
it is Illinois State because Illinois State, I believe, has a.

Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
High school high school up yeah right, and championship.

Speaker 6 (01:03:37):
So even if they were to get a seed and
potentially play a home game this weekend, they can't.

Speaker 4 (01:03:42):
They have to be on the road. Yeah, that's crazy
next weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
How would you would like? What are you doing? ISU Athletics?
How do you mess that up?

Speaker 12 (01:03:51):
There?

Speaker 6 (01:03:51):
It feels like there should be some conversations to be
had to be had with that one.

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
So I know they're eighty must have been bet in
the under on their wins for the season if he
was doing.

Speaker 6 (01:04:00):
That, I mean, you're either betting on eleven or you're
betting on four because you're in that seven eight range,
seven to nine range. Boy, you're feeling feeling a little

Speaker 3 (01:09:34):
Second down and Miller and the shot cut claps for
the ball. Here's a snap, poor man, rush Camp stands
in loopswaye Cox buyers back whin open touchdown, got in again,
Braylan Henderson whind open, right side of the enizode.

Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
This one won't count for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:09:53):
Twenty three yard touchdown Miller Henderson Buyson on the board.
Fourteen to six, two thirty nine to go on a half.

Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
Yeah, that touchdown came right after a Tyler Turhart touchdown
career and there it goes.

Speaker 6 (01:10:07):
But great play by Cam right after that to find
Braylin and get him into the end zone to get
NBSU and the scoring drought early in the game. All right,
we went through the FFCS games. Let's go back to
the Jiffy Luepfargo scoreboard. Take a look at some of
the FBS games. We had the the Gophers playing Penn
State at home.

Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
Game on here man, that.

Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
Boat was rolling for a while.

Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
It was rolling, and then and then and then it
stopped rowing.

Speaker 6 (01:10:32):
Twenty six twenty five, the number four rank Penn State
nine Lions escape Huntington Bank Stadium by one.

Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
Yeah, good showing from the Gophers. Obviously. You know their
program might still take moral victories. Our program doesn't, but
I think the Gopher program might. But that was a
good game for them. You know, Penn State's obviously going
to be in the College Football Playoff, potentially in the
Big Ten championship game now, but good showing, uh that
Max brosmersh You know what, I not a big I
grew up. I love the Gophers. I wanted to be
a Gopher dink get me off or whatever. Now, not

(01:11:00):
like the Gophers at all. And if anyth who played
on we've bet him by thirty. But Max Brosmer, former
New Hampshire proud FCS guy has actually been playing really
well for the Gophers this year. And you know, he's
had a great season. I wish you would have more
time there, but yeah, he's had a good season. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
Big twelve getting messy.

Speaker 6 (01:11:16):
Arizona State beats b YU twenty eight, twenty three, they're
six and two. Kansas somehow beats Colorado at in Lawrence.
Now Colorado at six and two in the in the
Big twelve. It's a Big twelve as real, just an
absolute disasters.

Speaker 2 (01:11:34):
And Iowa State in Utah or tonight I believe a
later kick.

Speaker 4 (01:11:38):
Yeah, that's correct.

Speaker 6 (01:11:40):
Iowa State could get to six and two as well
in the in the conference with a win there out
of Utube.

Speaker 2 (01:11:44):
I'm guessing case State must be on a bye this week.

Speaker 6 (01:11:47):
We are going to look that up on the internets
as we speak here, Case State, Yeah, must they are not, Yeah,
so it'll be interesting.

Speaker 2 (01:11:57):
I'm guessing with all that lot, Colorado probably still has
a shot.

Speaker 6 (01:12:01):
To get to the bigger Sorry, k State plays to
cut you off there. They've got Cincinnati at seven o'clock.
K State's at four and three right now.

Speaker 2 (01:12:08):
Three, Yeah, so they're probably that's kind of a mess,
you know. Kansas and Arizona State just kind of playing.
Arizona State might have a shot at the why not. Yeah,
I'm going down there. I'm going an Arizona State basketball
game in January.

Speaker 6 (01:12:19):
That'd be fun there you go. So, yeah, it's it's
interesting in the in the FBS as well. It's gonna
be fun that we got a twelve team selection there
and it's gonna the seeds the brackets, the.

Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
Teams on the back end.

Speaker 6 (01:12:32):
I'm gonna get a half the taste, but a little
bit of the taste of what we get every year
in that it's gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:12:37):
Be so awesome to see those first round in the
college football Playoff, the home field playoff games. That's gonna
be absolutely electric. There's I have this vision that one
of the hosting teams, it's gonna be a snowy night game.
You're gonna have Chris Foler, Kirk Curves Street on the call.
It's gonna be It's like, how could you not be
romantic about college? You're gonna have students in the front

(01:12:58):
row with their beer guts out. Yeah, he did, Like,
it's gonna be awesome?

Speaker 4 (01:13:03):
Is that gonna be you?

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
Honest you might just go be a dude just enrolled
just to do that, honestly. Yeah, maybe there's nothing Fans
love the broadcast. It's awesome sit home watch TV. There
is nothing better than going to college supporting events in person.
I'm gonna get myself. I know we've had a little
bit of trouble filling the dome, and I think it's
because you know, our TV broadcast and everything, it's gotten

(01:13:25):
a lot better and it's good, but there's nothing like
going to the game in person. I think back to
you know, Montana last year Jmu twenty twenty one. Like
being in the dome for those games. I don't care
if you have a sixty five inch plasma, Magma four D,
whatever TV you have, there is nothing like feeling that
energy and being there in the dome. So let's fill

(01:13:45):
the doma for the playoffs. Where I'm getting with this.

Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
I love it, I love it. We're getting we're getting
fired out.

Speaker 6 (01:13:49):
We've turned this thing around the as the show has gone,
all right, a couple more segments, lef to take a break.
We'll wrap up things for the game here. What are
the things that ndias you can take away? What can
they get better from this game? How is it going
to help them in the playoffs?

Speaker 4 (01:14:06):
Again?

Speaker 6 (01:14:06):
Spinning this back around positive from where we started. And
then we'll wrap up and get you everything that you
need to know going forward as we get set for
playoff football.

All right, Jake, it's uh. We're getting to the point
here where everything's out of your hands. Your resume has submitted,
your paper has been turned in, you're waiting for the
grade to come back. Except this time it's the selection
committee and where you're going when you're likely to be

(01:19:35):
a top four seed. That's, of course, the number one
thing that you're wondering about. What's number two? From a
player's perspective, what are where are you looking outside of
exactly what that number beside your name is.

Speaker 2 (01:19:47):
Yeah, you know, as a player, it's it's interesting because,
like I said earlier, kind of that mindset of, you know,
it doesn't really matter where they put us, We're we're
gonna go play and we're gonna win every game whatever,
right you kind of that mindset. But there is a
little bit, you know. Obviously early in my career we
had the you know, when we weren't losing games, we
just didn't lose. It was like, okay, get done with
your last game this season. Wake up, Okay, we're gonna

(01:20:08):
be the one seed. We're playing at home. We get
Thanksgiving breakoff, which is awesome. I have that bye week.
Last year was a little different. You know, we didn't
play very well, come back home on Senior Day, beat SIU,
go to you and I win that game. We were
kind of thinking, hey, we have an outside shot at
potentially being top eight seed. We thought we should be
a top eight seed. Obviously the committe didn't see that way.
So you go watch the committee at the selection showing,

(01:20:29):
You're like, wow, okay, we have a game over Thanksgiving, Right,
there's a game that happens that week. Like NDAC was like,
what we have to play on Thanksgiving? Breaks? That was
kind of a you know, a little bit of a shock.
But you take that information in you're like, Okay, what's happens? Happened?
We have a game on the schedule for Saturday. It
becomes ground talk to day again. Okay, Monday is gonna
look like Monday. Tuesday's Tuesday kind of same, all same old.

(01:20:50):
So I think the guys, you know, coming back from
this game, Nbasu knows we'll have a buy. We'll be
a top eight seed obviously, but I think you know,
as a player, you just you're gonna sit in there,
gonna look. You'll see your seed and then I think,
you know, and I could say this now because I'm
not a player, but you'll look. Okay, who are the
one in two, three, and four in my bracket? Okay,

(01:21:11):
that's who?

Speaker 6 (01:21:12):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:21:12):
We're not gonna get ahead of ourselves, but that's where
we're potentially going or they're coming here. All right, who's
the first round game? Let's have a great week of practice,
get out of our feet. Normally, how it normally works
is you know, you'll practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Wednesday morning,
everyone will be able to go home for Thanksgiving and
then bring back everyone weather dependent. Obviously we've sometimes had
some terrible weather, so that affects it, but get everyone

(01:21:34):
back on Saturday in the team room to watch the
game that will potentially play, and normally how that goes,
We'll watch that game and then once you know, this
is a coach ends thing, I'm sure coach politic will
be similar. Once we see that game, like, okay, mercers
up by thirty five at halftime, everyone, we're gonna go in,
We're gonna practice. When we start putting the game plan
for who we're gonna play. If it's a closer game,

(01:21:54):
you know, that night gets a little bit longer because
you just wait to see who you're gonna play, and
then you kind of get a head start on that
week getting a Saturday practice. But as a player, you know,
it's when I was younger, I was like, oh, who's
seated where? You know, as you get older, it's just like,
all right, we're gonna play next week and just take
it one week at a time. I know, it's really
cliche and coach speak, but that's really what it is.

Speaker 6 (01:22:11):
So I'm sure you've played in games like this where
you come away knowing that did the other team do
things to win? Yes, but there were a lot of
things where you needed one. Yeah, things we talked about earlier.
One one of these eight things flips in our direction,
the game's over, NDSU wins. What do you take away

(01:22:31):
from from those type of games and specifically what you
saw from this one.

Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
No, that's exactly. And I think you know, obviously, I've
never been on a field in college, thankfully, just because
of the program we've had where it's been like we
played this soon as we had no chance to beat them.
Like every every game I've lost in college has been like, gosh,
we we should we could, We very easily could have
won this game. We didn't do this, this and this.
We can fix that. So I think the guys are
sitting and thinking the exact same thing. You know, there

(01:22:57):
was It wasn't it's not. I'm sure, like I don't
know how Indiana State fields or some of these other
teams that like play us, and it's just like, oh,
we lost fifty five to seven, Like what can we
change to win? That game Adiana State just catching straight.
Oh yeah, sorry, Indiana State. It used to be Western
Illinois but they left us. But that would be a
help us feeling. But that's you know, like you said,
we're kind of spinning this into a positive. NDS. You

(01:23:19):
can look at this game and be like, Okay, yes
we lost, we're upset about it. We let this game
get away, But NBSU beat themselves. Yeah, NDSU beat themselves.
Now on the flip side of it's like crap, we
went out there, we played our best game possible and
they still beat us. Then it's like, well, we're gonna
have to do something a lot different or crazy to
beat them. But you know, that's just not the case.
And I don't think, I mean, i'd be you'd have

(01:23:40):
to go way back a long time to find a
game where NDCU was just like, we don't have no
business playing in this football game. So I think that's
a positive we can take from that.

Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
There you go.

Speaker 6 (01:23:47):
And yeah, I mean there's there's been times where NDYSU
has not been the better team on the field, and
one I would think too, and I'm gonna drop the year.
James Madison, one of the national championship games. We needed
James Madison to make mistakes eighteen. I didn't think that's
the one We needed them to make mistakes to win.
They did, and we took advantage.

Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
Yeah no, and yeah, that's uh, I mean sometimes you're
gonna need that. And obviously we still had the players,
like we had the horses to do it. But correct
on paper that jam you team had, Like there's like
I think three or four guys that are like stalwarts
in the NFL that we're playing on that defense. But yeah,
I think you can always spin a positive out of
a loss. You don't lose, right, you learn, right, learn
from it, and then hopefully, you know, I think Guindy

(01:24:30):
and uh not Tim phil Beca, hopefully this kind of
gives them a little edge going into the playoffs. Like
cam Miller said, you know, I'm kind of glad I
threw that picture. Just get out of the way, icon,
shout out icon, Get this loss out of the way now.
So hopeful we don't have another loss until long time ago,
long time, and.

Speaker 6 (01:24:45):
We'll worry about those things next year. Yeah that's right,
all right, we're gonna take our final break here, come back,
wrap things up. Let you know what you need to
know about the about the selection show tomorrow and when
we're gonna have all of the answers as far as
who's in, who's out, who's where. That's all coming up

more uncertainty than what we are used to heading into
selection Sunday.

Speaker 2 (01:30:05):
I will say, at least we're gonna be watching the
selection show, unlike that team from ninety miles north of US,
and we know we're going to be in and they
are not gonna be in. So we could be in
that boat and we're not.

But it's gonna be like I said, it's gonna be entertaining.
And we know, should know we've got two more home
playoff games come and two more chances at least to

(01:30:48):
be able to fill up the dome and see these
guys and try to encourage them on to Frisco.

Speaker 2 (01:30:52):
Absolutely, and you know, at the end of the day,
if it does shake out where we have to go
on the road for a semi final game or whatever,
it may be. You know, some of those atmospheres. You know,
we've never gone to Brookings for a semi final game.
They've kind of gotta look at it with the glass
half full, right, Like it'd be fun to go take
over at Dana dik House Stadium and have a game there,
or go out to Bosmon or those are kind of

(01:31:12):
cool places to go. But you know, we'll wait and see.

Speaker 6 (01:31:15):
Now, I think I feel like we've done well bringing
this around. We were it was not positive, I don't
think anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
Like when I sat I got here to Applebee's and
I sat down and I was just silent.

Speaker 6 (01:31:23):
For the shaking your head just every now and then
we just get to get a headshake as as you go.
But but this is where we are. It's a ten
win team, it's the Missouri Valley Co champion team, and
it's going to be a top four seed in the playoffs.
And nobody is going to be excited to play the
NDSU in December.

Speaker 2 (01:31:41):
Absolutely not so, I mean it's we're NDSU, is still
NDSU at the end of the day.

Speaker 4 (01:31:46):
Absolutely.

Speaker 6 (01:31:47):
A few shout outs want to say thank you to

Today I got to spend about four hours with Spade,
which is it's been a lot of fun and hopefully
ANDYSU is going to keep giving us more opportunities to
do it.

Speaker 2 (01:32:43):
Yeah, I mean, I just as long as the NBSU
buys and keep winning. Now we'll still be on the air,
so hopefully for a long good playoff push here and
you know, hopefully this all kind of comes to a
peak in Frisco and we get a you know, try
our luck at win another national championship.
