two thousand and twenty five. Hope you're doing well. Good morning,
Hope it spent a great start to your week. We're
glad you decided to spend some of it here with
us this morning. Sam Peterman, He's Andy Rick R. We've
(01:08):
got you Longton in the crease. Gangs all here in
the First Western Bank Broadcast Center. One day after Sinco
to Mayo fun time, yesterday we went out fill a
little Sinco to Mayo celebration Gollo Mexican food for lunch.
That was a fun little get together for the show.
I had to celebrate according to day is oh national
(01:29):
crepe d I think everybody likes a good crepe. Yeah,
that might be the afternoon snack then afterwards, but it
was fun. We did our Sinco to Mayo history lesson
yesterday and then we went out and had a good
time with it. And there we go bla Yeah, not independence,
(01:50):
the French Empire. Learn something new every day. Here are
the Insiders, but glad that you are with us. Gotta
be a fun show. Triple Threat Tuesday. We are loaded today,
going to get you three gate great guests on our
Rick Electric daily guests line up our number two Matthew
Coller of the Purple Insider. We'll talk some vikings with Matt.
(02:13):
That's at twelve thirty at noon. Blake Timmins Bison baseball
up and comer. Cannot wait to have Blake on the air.
He absolutely raked on Sunday and what was almost for NDSU.
Unfortunately he came up just shortened ten innings against Earl
Roberts nine eight, a tough one to end the weekend.
But we'll talk with Blake. He has burst onto the
(02:34):
scene for the Bison on the Diamond, just a red
shirt freshman from soul In, Iowa, been thrust in the
lineup and is making the most of his opportunity. Can't
wait for you to get to know him more. We'll
have him on right at that top of hour number
two at noon. That's gonna be a lot of fun.
And then here on our first hour, Sam Herder, he's
gonna stop by, make a nice Tuesday visit. We'll get
(02:55):
to some FCS offseason and spring headlines, talk a little
bit about who's been winning in the portal, this Missouri
Valley Football Conference partnership with the Summit League. We'll dive
into some more of the details there with Sam, and
of course anything else that we've got on the mind
as far as FCS. A new team added to FCS
earlier this morning, Andy, I don't know if you saw
(03:16):
that up in the northeast, new Haven coming up from
D two, another D two in the FCS. Best of
luck to him. You probably hadn't even heard of new Haven.
Speaker 7 (03:28):
We're getting watered down like crazy in the FCS.
Speaker 6 (03:30):
It's another mercy. No the FBS believes that they're getting
watched with so many FCS teams are moving up, but those
are I mean, that's JMU.
Speaker 7 (03:36):
That's a quality program, right. Some other teams that have
gone there, some have been successful, some haven't. I get that,
But the FBS feels like it's getting watered down. I
think the FCS is getting vastly more water down lately.
A few that have come up in Tarltan State been good,
some good additions.
Speaker 6 (03:52):
Sure, that's that's somewhere. It's got investment resources. The majority
of the come up have struggled. Yeah, New Haven, if
you you aren't familiar, they're out of the Ney ten,
which is Conticuette. It's yes, Connecticut. It's it's actually a
pretty decent homagiography in D two conference for like baseball
and such like. It's a good baseball conference a couple
(04:13):
other sports as well, but in football it's got like
that's where Merrimack came from. But now they're going to
the NEC. So I will get in a little bit
of that with Sam Herder as well, but they will
be the newest member of FCS. Of course, like Eddy said,
a lot more kind of coming up from that D
two ranks and maybe oversaturating things a little bit. Seven
(04:34):
oh one, four seven six, sixteen sixty. That's our Brady
Martch hotline. If you want to get in tons to
talk about today, we have a poll question up for
you on our Facebook page. Hit us up also on
Twitter apt Bison sixteen sixty Big Game one tonight, Wolves
and Warriors. What's your prediction for the Wolves Warriors series
(04:55):
as a whole? Is it Wolves in six, Wolves in five,
Warriors at seven? Whatever it is? Give us their predictions.
Let us know on Facebook, on x and Twitter, and
of course you can text us or call us as well.
Seven oh one four seven six, sixteen sixty Big Game
one Tonight. Wolves have been waiting, they're rested, had a
few days since taking care of the Lakers in five. Meanwhile,
(05:17):
the Golden State Warriors, four time NBA champs, they come
down to the Twin Cities and Minnesota does have home
court because this is the sixth versus the seven, with
the Wolves getting the six and the Warriors coming in
as a seventh. They took down the Rockets, almost blew
a three to one lead, but they advanced in seven
games after winning in the decisive game over the weekend.
(05:37):
Game is tonight at eight thirty. Road teams farreedwell yesterday, Andy,
we saw the Knicks come back from twenty down knockoff
the defending champions Celtics on the road. Of course, we
saw the Pacers win on the road on Sunday against Cleveland,
the one see in the East, and the Nuggets. Even
though you were on OKC yesterday, they win on a
last second shot by Aaron Gordon. They upset the See
(06:00):
Oklahoma City in the West. So Wolves have home court,
gotta take care of it. Big one tonight against another
I've been seeing like the Giant Killers or like the
Legend Slayer for Anthony Edwards and the Wolves. Now he
gets to take on Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Steve
Kurz Warriors.
Speaker 7 (06:17):
I got research for you. You look up the last
time all road teams won in game one of the
conference semi finals. So it's, you know, the possibility, that's
what is at stake, I guess tonight with the Golden
State Warriors coming to the Target Center. I did watch
a lot of that Nuggets in thunder game. I did
not watch the last eight minutes. I was like, it's
too late, gotta go to bed this. I'm not staying
up for a non Wolves team you know you're cound
(06:38):
serving the energy to stay up for tonight. But I was.
I was surprised the Nuggets won it when I woke
up this morning. Wasn't shocked. They were staying right within
twelve to eight, like the entire second Half's really what
it seemed.
Speaker 6 (06:51):
It was.
Speaker 7 (06:52):
They go down by like fourteen, and they cut it
to ten, and then maybe cut it down to six,
and they get bumped back up to twelve, and it
seemed like he was staying in between twelve and eight
really for the majority of the second half. And you
keep a team that's a championship pedigree team like the
Nuggets that have won a championship, have an MVP on
their team in Jokic. You keep them around, you play
with them a little bit, don't put them away. Bad
things can happen. It looks like that's exactly what happened
(07:12):
to the thunder there last night. They were a hot
shooting team early and then they kind of just didn't
have any threes fall for them late, miss some crucial
free throw che Homegrin missing two free throws that I
could have a chance to basically ice the game, or
at least you know, can at least would have been
able to for sure get to overtime if you had
made those free throws. But I think it's almost a
(07:33):
good thing for the Wolves because if you remember last
year opening series, even though they were the better seed,
I believe they were the underdog against Phoenix because Phoenix
had beating them all four or five games during the season.
If you remember that, they were the the underdog in
Vegas going into that one, people thought, this is Kevin Durant,
this is an experienced team. The Wolves don't know what
(07:53):
they're getting into. YadA, YadA, YadA. They win that series
and four. Then it was Denver and everyone's like, cue
win against the un They really weren't that good. We
probably overrated them. This is the Nuggets, though, this is Jokich.
They've knocked up before, they're gonna kock you out again.
Wolves win the first two games in Denver and make
a statement. They came back to Minnesota and everyone's talking about,
let's sweep them, this is over. Series is done. You
(08:14):
took both in Denver. Well, then the Wolves lost three
in a row. I think they read their own pres
a little bit now that thankfully they came back and
they did beat Denver in that series when everyone said, Okay,
now they're done. They've lost three in a row, they're done. It,
came back and win it. But then they go into
this series with the Mavericks and everyone again said, man,
they're gonna beat the MAVs. They're playing way better than
the MAVs. They were the favorite for the first time.
They were the favorite, and they lose the games at
(08:35):
home and they get killed in that series in five. Well,
similar they were prohibitive underdogs. We all know. ESPN, everyone
every all thirteen million of their experts picked to the
Lakers to win in five or six, and then the
Wolves go out and win in five instead. This series,
they had the prohibitive favorite most people, not all, because
some people are picking the Warriors more picking the Warriors
(08:55):
and picked the Wolves against the Lakers. But the prohibitive
favorite is the Wolves are the favorite tonight by seven.
They're the favorite in the series heavily. How do they
handle being the favorite and not maybe having that same
chip on your shoulder? Great teams, great players, keep the
chip on your shoulder even when you are the favorite.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
You find some way.
Speaker 7 (09:10):
We always make fun of it because it's dumb. And
it's stupid, but they find some little press clipping or
something someone did and they're like, h I'm gonna chip
on my shoulder, and you find a way to do it.
Can they keep that same underdog mentality when they're not
the prohibitive underdog in a series with all three road
teams winning your Pacers, the Knicks last night, and the
(09:31):
Nuggets last night. If Chris Finch needed anything to motivate
his team, he says, look at all three of these
road teams they won on the road in Game one,
including the Nuggets who only had one day off between games,
just like the Warriors are going to have tonight. If
you think the Warriors gonna be tired and this lets
you have Game one, you are wrong. He can point
to that. I think that's a good thing to help
the Wolves state focused here in Game one.
Speaker 6 (09:49):
The enemy of all greatness complacency, right, and a feeling
of that you've arrived. This is a chance, I think
for the Wolves to really arrive. And this sort of
wrecking tour that Ant and the rest of the team
has been on with all those superstars that they've dethrowned
(10:10):
Andy on last year's playoff run and starting with this
year Lebron Luca and the Lakers getting revenge on Luca
right after what happened in the Conference finals against the MAVs.
I think there's a little element, and I know the
Jordan comparisons started to surface at this time last year
when the Wolves made it to the Western Conference Finals
for the first time in twenty years for Anthony Edwards.
(10:32):
And remember who Jordan's first championship win was against. Everybody
knows what we're talking about here, right, Oh yeah, nineteen
ninety one Magic and the Lakers and had to get
through the Pistons as well, which had kind of been
his buggetboot right right and had kept him down for
a couple of years.
Speaker 7 (10:50):
Avenge some demons, basically.
Speaker 6 (10:51):
Right, I think. And obviously that was at the tail
end the back nine of Magic's career and that iteration
of the Lakers that had won so many titles before.
Look at it. I mean, we know that this is
a downhill for Golden State. We know it's been a
couple of years since their last title in twenty twenty two.
The Splash Brothers of all that band has been dissolved. Yes,
(11:13):
respect for the franchise, respect for their culture, the way
that they've built this thing, and they found a way
right against the up and coming two seeded team at Houston,
they were able to find a way and had a
three to one series lead in that point. So you've
got a chance, I think to further cement the fact
that you have arrived, you don't look into it and
(11:34):
feed into it. Like you just mentioned, Partner, that there's
that complacency that the roller coaster of like oh well
it's not gonna happen, or but oh now they're actually favored.
Can they actually play the role now as the favorite
and not mess around here and see if they can
keep this run.
Speaker 7 (11:50):
I thing the win is the underdog and have that
chip on your shoulder and go out there with something
to prove. It's another thing when you are the favorite
and still go out there and do what you're expected
to do. Yeah, it's gonna be different.
Speaker 6 (12:01):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (12:01):
I think they can do it now. I said it's
gonna be dumb and stupid. They're gonna find some little
press clipping or something to keep a chip on their shoulder,
like Michael Jordan found some way to do that right.
Took that personally, But I think the one for that
is I means sitting in their face. It's Draymond Green.
Everything he said about Rudy Gobert the last couple of years,
especially last year during the Conference finals, when he was
sitting at home behind a desk because he was done
(12:23):
playing and Rudy was still playing. He was just bad
mouth and Rudy as much as he could. I think
that's at all the motivation for sure, Rudy Gobar is
gonna need. But I think Aunt is a guy likes
to defend his teammates. He's gonna use that for every
bit of motivation as well, totally. And Steve Kerr once
said to Aunt, Hey, if we had the first pick
that you're in the drafted.
Speaker 6 (12:39):
Were't we were to take you? Yeah? And ain't forgetting
that either. Keeping receipts tonight and Jimmy Butler's returned to
Minnesota as well, and what you got back there in
the crease.
Speaker 8 (12:48):
Well to Andy's research from earlier, this was the first
time in NBA history that three sixty plus win teams
have lost their first game in a playoff round, and
if the Warriors win tonight, it would be the first
time ever that all teams in the Conference semi finals,
so it's.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
Never happened before.
Speaker 8 (13:03):
Yeah, so you're trying to stay about history here if
you're the Wolves fight off history.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
Well, it goes back to the dynamic that we were
talking about this before we came on the air for
the show Research as a well done. There are the
crease for sure, and you alluded to this, Andy, You've
alluded to this on the show. The dynamic of this
NBA postseason right now. For me, that the story is
the discrepancy between the NBA regular season the eighty two
games that let's be honest, you're not paying attention to
(13:30):
as much as you are now for these postseason games,
and it's a different type of product than There's a
different type of intensity out there on the floor, and
right now with some of these teams who are maybe
let's say like Underseedd right, you have a six versus
seven matchup in this Wolves Warrior series where it could
have been two versus three if the chalk held. That
(13:50):
says something to me that there's there's an amount of
teams that can obtain a one seed in an NBA
regular season, but there's a lesser amount of teams that
could actually win playoff series and go to the finals
and win the whole dang thing of the postseason. You
have to have a little bit of experience, you have
to have some depth, you have to have not just
the star power. I think we're seeing that with some
(14:13):
of these results here so far in the postseason, not
just the teams are advanced, but with some of these
road teams taking Game one here in the conference semmer
good teams.
Speaker 7 (14:21):
And I think what we've seen in the NBA the
last probably half decade or so, maybe even longer, is
the good teams don't care about the regular season, and
I hate that. I think it's dumb because people pay
real good money to go watch these teams play. But
how many times do the stars set out They don't
even play much less. Sometimes they play and you feel like,
not really, they're kind of going through the motions a
(14:42):
little bit. They're okay if they finish in the fourth
or fifth, or sixth or even the seventh seed, like
the Warriors, they weren't maybe okay with it, but they
get hot at the right time and they know they
can go on the road and beat anybody. So being
the number one overall seeming it doesn't matter quite as
much to some of those teams. I think I saw
that a little bit this year with Boston. They're like, yeah,
the Cavs got this great start, We're pbably not going
to catch them. Let's just finish two whatever. Okac hasn't
(15:05):
really had that level of success of being number one
over all still means a ton to them, and they
had an unbelievable regular season. But we've seen this from
the Warriors, kind of from.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
The Lakers as well.
Speaker 7 (15:13):
The Stars just don't play as much in the regular season,
and they finished wherever they finished. It's just about getting
in and then you can make your run. Yeah, it's
not surprising that maybe some we have a six to
seven matchup in the conference semis, I still won't be
I would still be very surprised. I think if Denver
wins this series. But because it's Jokic and because you've
got Murray and you've got championship pedigree there to see
(15:35):
them get through, is I think that the four seed
like it would will be a complete you know, the
shockingest thing we've ever seen. Total be pretty surprising because Okay,
so he had as good of a year as they've had.
Speaker 8 (15:44):
That's a good point, Andy, And I think it's part
of it's because the NBA playoffs are so long, like
like they last like extra months on they had extra
months on the season. And even last year, antheando Wards
said in that Dallas series, like that first shoot around
or after they played the Nuggets, like he did not
have his legs. So it's something like he kind of
learned last year the Nuggets. Great example like that was
a when I talked about the Warriors, is gonna get
(16:05):
a win because STEP's good for one, then they're gonna
have like one culture win. It was like very much
felt like a culture win for Denver yesterday. Like the
championship pedigree they have. They've been in some some wars
in the postseason before with the Wolves last year they.
Speaker 6 (16:18):
Played coaching on the side lines.
Speaker 8 (16:20):
Like it because they they fired their coach a week
before the season. They still found a way to win
last night against a sixty five win team that had
one that was rested at home was the one seed, right.
Speaker 5 (16:30):
They still found found a way to win that game.
Speaker 8 (16:31):
So this Warrior series, it kind of feels like like
the initiation for ant and the Wolves as like a
team to stay here in the West, but like they
can still pick you off. Like so I to any
the point made earlier as well, maybe it's not the
worst thing to see that.
Speaker 5 (16:46):
Hey, Like anything can happen in these playoffs.
Speaker 8 (16:48):
Yesterday, the last couple of days, I think that might
bold well for the Wolves going into tonight.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
At least anything can happen. Anything happen. That's what we
talked about basketball, and I think it could happen tonight.
We'll see.
Speaker 7 (16:59):
It's it's the same thing as Game Fight with the Lakers.
You could have got complacent there and ah we got
Game six, Like, no, they stepped on their throat and
they did not let up.
Speaker 6 (17:06):
Yep, do the same thing here. Do not let the
Warriors have a chance to breathe. You know they're going
to be tired. And in this game, the thing is
the Warriors aren't just gonna let you win, not gonna
roll over. But if you get up in the second
half by twenty or something, then that's when we saw
it into the last series. In Game six, they just
took Steph and Draymond and everybody out with like eight
(17:27):
and a half minutes to go, said, ah, you're down thirteen,
could come back, but We're just gonna rest them, you Kim,
because it is that you know, Steve Kurtin knows we
got an older roster series, a long series. We're a
short rest here. Let's trying and win game two. That
can happen.
Speaker 7 (17:42):
That's a good point if you can get up big
in that third early fourth quarter.
Speaker 6 (17:47):
And to me, if you're even having that conversation that
says there's an advantage for one side, I really do
think there's an advantage there for Minnesota. Let us know
what you think. It's our poll question up on Facebook
right now. What's your series prediction? Wolves versus Warriors tonight
at eight thirty. Will be all over it today and
throughout the rest of the week. Hit us up seven

the outdoors a little bit more here in Fargo in
the Lakes Country. So cannot wait. All right, let's get
to the Brady bar tot line. Here we go. Someone
the likes Lakes Country. I know that, Yes he does.
He's our first guest on our Rick Electric Daily guest lineup.
(23:38):
Sam Herder Hero Sports here with us your favorite lake
in Minnesota to visit, Sam favorite Lake to get things
started off here on Tuesday, most recently.
Speaker 17 (23:53):
Long Lake, which is near Saint Cloud. That's the one
I I kind of frequent most often nowadays. But I
had a buddy that was on Ottertail Lake. Okay, so
you know in high school and college went to Outer
Tail Lake and Absorbos and Beach Bomb. So that was
back in the day. That was my place to go.
But more currently near a lake near Saint Cloud is
(24:14):
where I've frequent more recently.
Speaker 7 (24:16):
Can't do much better than that. I'm sure you got
a little Hero Sports koozy as well. We've seen that
time or two out there on social media. It's a
great time to get out to the lakes for sure.
Also a great time for some FCS news. We've had
a bevy of it. It's felt like here over the
last couple of weeks and the main reason we're having
you on is because we had really some more of it,
I guess, more finalized news yesterday from some things we've
already heard from you and others about the Summit League
(24:38):
and the Missouri Valley Football Conference. I'm not gonna say merger,
but a partnership coming together and a deal between those
two leagues to try and boost the Summit League's bargaining
power but also maybe help the Missouri Valley Football Conference
at the same time.
Speaker 6 (24:52):
Tell us what you know, Yeah, I think.
Speaker 17 (24:55):
It's something that a lot of fans and even media
will kind of ask, like, what exactly does all this mean.
It's it's a lot of jargon, and it's a lot
of kind of cliche terms of you know, it's gonna
improve efficiency and it's going to grow our brand and
all that. And I don't know like all the ins
(25:15):
and outs of how exactly that is all going to happen,
but you know, to kind of break it down on
simple terms, the Summit League, you know, it's kind of
is going to take over a bit more ownership over
the Missouri Valley Football Conference, help out with the day
to day operations, help out with some budgetary stuff. You know,
when it comes to decision making and voting, that has
(25:37):
changed a little bit. And so it's something I think
I've said this before too on Your Guys Show. Are
fans really going to notice much of a difference? Not really?
Are media going to notice much of a difference? Not really.
I think there could potentially be an in person media
day for Value Football. I think you could maybe see
some improvements on social media, so stuff like that. You'll
(25:57):
notice the difference, you know. The one thing that fails
might notice is this could lead to some realignment news,
you know, down the rogues. I do think this gives
the Summit League some bargaining power when it comes to
potentially adding members, because now you know, if a if
a school joins the Summer League, their football program will
now automatically have a home in the Missouri Valley Football Conference,
(26:20):
which was already kind of the case but it required
two separate votes and decision making. Now it's all kind
of wrapped into one. And so that is one thing
where fans would notice if this move does lead to
some new members joining the Summit League slash the Missouri
Valley Football Conference.
Speaker 6 (26:35):
Sam, is there a timeline on when potential new members
could come to the summit and then, like you just mentioned,
have that automatic ticket into Valley football. Would it be
this summer, because I know twenty twenty six is kind
of like this next cycle realignment at the power level
and it trickles down or would it be a little
(26:56):
further down the line. Do you have a sense of
the time on that.
Speaker 17 (27:01):
I'm not totally sure. A lot of it is kind
of centered around the United Athletic Conference, which is kind
of on you know, slash the Whack, which is kind
of on shaky ground right now. I know, I believe
it's Utah Valley has some you know, some some different
shooters as far as conference is interested in in adding
Utah Valley, and I think that could potentially start the
(27:22):
domino effect of you know, where does Southern Utah then
end up? Where does Utah Tech end up? I know,
you you have teams in Texas where a team like Abline,
Christian and Tarleton States. You know, do they want to
sit around and wait for the Whack or the United
Athletic Conference to collapse or do they want to you know,
make a move and maybe be a bit more aggressive
and making a jump and maybe the summer league Slash
(27:44):
Valley Football targets those teams you know down in Texas
that that I just mentioned, And so I don't know
when exactly we're going to start to see these dominoes falling.
You could potentially cease of movements happening this summer, But it's,
as you guys know, trying to guess in realignment. It
is really hard because it's it seemed, but things can change,
(28:04):
you know, in a week, and then another week it
goes the other way. So it's really hard to know
for sure.
Speaker 6 (28:08):
Sam Herder, Hero Sports with us on the Brady Martch Hotline.
I read they were trying to potentially get a media
day in person for the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Is
a part of this move in partnership, Sam, Do you
think that could be a possibility for this coming August
and if so, any locations that you think would be
(28:28):
good fits.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 17 (28:31):
I think that's what they're working on right now, is
trying to potentially do one this summer. At the late July,
they're just working through some budget things. Location is well,
they're they're working through that, and so again I don't
know for sure if it's going to happen this summer,
but they're at least, you know, looking at it and
looking at the cost. I vote Minneapolis because that's a
(28:55):
that's that's where I'm at, and it's it's you know,
it's easy for the Dakotas in northern Iowa to get there,
but you could you know, Sue Falls, maybe you know
Saint Louis is maybe a decent middle spot as well.
But that is something they're kind of looking at as
just what the cost would be that you have to
fly coaches and sids and ads and a couple of
(29:15):
players to you know, wherever the place is at. Maybe
you know, if they're within driving distance that helps as well.
You got a few nights of hotels. So there is
a cost to it, of course. So I think they're
just kind of working through through that to see if
if it is something they can pull off this summer,
and if so, that would be late.
Speaker 7 (29:32):
July, especially without Missouri State in the league anymore. I
know we got Murray State, but it makes I don't
think it makes a lot of sense to go further
south than like Iowa, honestly, and you've got Illinois states
and southern Illinois can kind of come over to stuff,
and I think Minneapolis can make a lot of sense.
How that, Yeah, Youngstown State's can have to travel probably
do wherever it would be at, but we would be there.
I think it'd be a lot of fun to have
(29:52):
an in person media day there for the Missouri Valley
Football Conference. Can Sam Herder here with US hero Sports
bet MGM as the Valley and the Missouri Valley Football
Conference doing a partnership here? Moving forward from the two sides,
I get this from the Summon league side, you think
you laid it out well, we have before of the
summer league when you look at it, you know, baseball, softball,
some of the soccer pro you know, uh, you know,
(30:13):
programs won't have a ton of them in those sports,
and you're trying to stay above the number you need
for just playoff eligibility. So I think it makes a
ton of sense. From the Summer league side, you can
go to teams or schools now and say, hey, come
join our league. We'll get you in the Missouri Valley
Football Conference as well. Why is this happening from the
Missouri Valley Conference side, Why is the MVC, which I
know is a separate entity from the Football Conference. Why
(30:35):
were they so like, oh, yeah, whatever, just you guys
go join the Summit League or have a partnership with
the Summit League.
Speaker 17 (30:42):
Yeah, that's a good question. And I'm not sure exactly
how those how those conversations wins. You know, it is
interesting that Jeff Jackson, who is the Missouri Valley Conference commissioner,
he's now the new or the next Missouri Valley Football
Conference commissioner. I mean, he's gonna stay on with the
MBC as well, so he'll be commissioners for both of
those leagues, you know. And then you know, Josh Fenton
(31:05):
from the Summer League is kind of being an executive advisor,
you know, type of role, and so it kind of
seems like from what I've read, and I know, like
the Southern Illinois Athletic director was talking about this and
he said, this does give the the Dakota schools you know,
aka the Summer League members a bit more power and
a bit more say when it comes to membership. And
(31:26):
so maybe as kind of media them halfway, they decided
to go with you know, Jackson as as the commissioner
of the of the Missouri Valley Football Conference. Meanwhile, you know,
Fenton will kind of be his number two in work
arm in arm as far as decision making, you know process.
But you know, initially I thought this would you know,
maybe you put the Missouri Valley Football Conference into like
(31:49):
more into one of the all sports conference. But it
still is going to be a separate entity. It still
is going to be a single sport conference, a football
only conference, which does come with challenges just in the
over NCUBA government governance structure and you know, having representation
on all the different boards and committees within the nc DOUBLEA.
So I wasn't sure if they were going to stay
(32:09):
a single sport conference. I thought maybe they were gonna
go in more into one of the all sports conference,
but that obviously didn't happen. But it would have been
interesting to sit in on these meetings, you know, throughout
the last year and a half, just to see how
they ultimately came to this conclusion of doing things the
way they're doing them.
Speaker 6 (32:28):
Sam Herder here with us on the Brady Martch Hotline.
I want to talk a little bit about the portal
here in the spring. Sam, we've gotten to the cycle
of the portal where now the teams have you can
enter and the windows closed. Now, teams are starting to
add here at the FCS level, and it seems like
every time I open up Twitter, there's some other tweet,
(32:48):
whether it's from you or Zach mckittle or whoever else
is covering FCS. So and so's going here, and it's
an FCS to FCS transfer that this is their production.
And a lot of teams have been adding here. I
look at STSU, I look at USD. Montana has been
adding a lot through the portal. We know they've embraced that.
I think it's a little bit of a shit for
USD and SDSU to change their mentality because they have
(33:11):
no choice get right losing a lot. Yeah, UND as well.
A lot of these sacks state players are floating around.
All that to say, when you take a look at
everything objectively, not just quantity of players added, but which
team do you think in this spring portal window has
been the biggest winner as far as getting guys that
(33:31):
fit needs that they have, that can come in and
produce right away and help them contend to get to
Nashville and the FCS a spring portal winner so far
in your eyes. As far as who they've added.
Speaker 17 (33:44):
Yeah, thinks for the spring, Like if you go back
and you look overall, I think the biggest winner is UIW.
But most of their additions came during the winter. I
mean they added three former fts all Americans, you know,
a couple more fcs all conference guys, and so I
think the biggest winner overall is ui W. You can
probably put Sack State there as well, just with the
(34:06):
volume of transfers that they have coming in. I think
I saw fifty plus transfers coming into Sacramento State, which
is a while to see how how well that will
gel or not. But as far as the spring portal window,
I really like what both South Dakota teams are doing.
You look at us D and you know they added
in all a conference tight end from I believe it
(34:28):
was Lafayette. I want to say it added an offensive
lineman from Chattanduga who started multiple games, and so USD.
You know, I think is has made some additions. Maybe
some of it is out of necessity because of you
know the amount of guys they lost during the spring
portal window. I mean, I also like what South Dkota
State is doing as well. I think it's a it's
a good mix with the Jack Rabberts are doing because
(34:50):
you know, they brought in, you know, a couple of
D two guys. I think there was like a D
two All Conference linebacker from two Balls that came in.
They're bringing in guys from Power for Pro that did
get a whole lot of playing time at their Power
Force schools, and so those are always kind of unknown.
But okay, they have a wide receiver from Nebraska, they
have some dbs from Iowa. You know, they were at
those schools for a reason, but they also didn't play,
(35:13):
you know, potentially for a reason. So how big of
an impact are those guys going to make. That's a
bit of an unknown. But along with that, they're also
bringing in a good group of FTS transfers. You know,
they brought in I believe his name is Nate Adams,
who was an All a Conference offensive lineman from Steven F. Austin.
Most recently, they brought in Julius low Ridge from Fordham
who was a back to back first team All Conference selection,
(35:35):
back to back, you know, a thousand yard rusher. They
brought in a couple of Sacramento State guys who logged
a lot of snaps last year, and those are usually
the ones that for me personally moved the needles the most.
I mean, you can there are so many guys that
were four star recruits, were at some SEC school. They
come to the FCS, they make headlines because there they
(35:56):
were this kind of you know, big high school recruits,
and they don't really pan it's in the FCS for
whatever reason. Those ones don't really move the needle for me.
The ones that I usually take notice of is when
an FCS team can land an FCS player who made
an impact on their previous team, because you've seen that
guy have success at the FCS level. And so I
(36:17):
think South Kosta State has a pretty good mix of
the two guys FCS guys that are proven commodity of
these and then bringing in FBS guys that have a
high level of talent but they just haven't logged a
whole lot of college snaps.
Speaker 7 (36:30):
Makes a lot of sense there, because I get to
Sam's point, you do see a ton of guys at
this time of year. These last couple of weeks, it
seems like every team's adding two or three a week
over these next couple of weeks, and hey NDSU has
been adding a couple of them as well. Last one
for me for you and kind of back to this
stuff at the Missouri Valley Football Conference in the Summit League.
I know we talked before about, you know, whether it
be the Utah conglomerate of schools or the Texas conglomerate
(36:53):
of schools that maybe will join the league. Have any
timeline for when you think more news on that comes
out of those teams potentially looking to join one of
the leagues, And is there anyone that you think is
kind of a favorite right now?
Speaker 17 (37:06):
Yeah, originally I thought maybe it was going to be
the Utah schools. I think maybe the more likely ad
would be the Texas schools, which would be Tarleton State,
Abline Christian and then a non football team or a
non football school. I believe Ute Arlington if I'm not mistaken,
I think they're maybe more favored to join the Summer
(37:29):
League SLASH and Missouri Valley Football Conference than the Utah schools.
At the same time, you know, there's a chance that
none of them join. I think a lot of it
depends on what happens with the WHACK, what happens with
the United Athletic Conference, if they could find stability, I
mean if Tarleton State had a magic wand they would
go to the FBS as soon as possible, but that
invite has yet to come, and so it really is
(37:50):
hard to know the exact timeline. It seems like sometimes
in the summer is when dominoes start to fall, just
because when you join a conference, who typically joined July first,
and so you want to give your former conference at
least a year notice that you're leaving. And so if
any teams are going to join the summer in the
(38:11):
Missouri Valley Football Conference in twenty twenty six, they typically
would like to make that announcement before July first, twenty
twenty five, this upcoming summer. And so maybe in the
next couple of months we'll see some movement, but it's
it's hard to know for sure.
Speaker 6 (38:25):
Sam last one for me, how about cam Miller and
Time Allot, both on the Las Vegas Raiders. I think
souls are connected here as far as NDSU and Montana State,
and you just can't write it two picks or one
pick apart. And now those two who have battled in
a couple of FCS title games are now going to
(38:45):
be teammates of the NFL.
Speaker 17 (38:48):
Yeah, it's It's cool just there to see how their
pass have crossed, you know, really ever since twenty twenty one,
and you know, not only to land up the same
team in the NFL, but you know they're drafted two
picks apart from each other. You know, I'm I'm tweeting
about Tommy and Mallot and you know, right as I'm
firing off that tweet, and that's the you know, Cam Miller,
(39:09):
you know, get selected, they're trying to hurry to get
that tweet out as well. So I think it's a
great spot for both. I really do think Kam Miller
can carve himself out of a nice NFL career. You know,
might not be a starter, but hey, if you're a
if you're an East and stick like backup, you know,
you're that's that's a that's a pretty good career right there.
And you know, I think Tommy Mallott could carve himself out,
carve himself out a nice role as well. You know,
(39:30):
he's he's not an NFL quarterback, but he's definitely an
NFL level athlete. And so how do they how they
utilize him as a wide receiver, special teams type guy,
maybe some type of wildcat quarterback will be really interesting.
But I definitely think both those guys have a really
good chance to you know, make the roster of the
practice squad and you know, kind of have a nice
lenk the NFL.
Speaker 7 (39:50):
Career backup quarterback for a while, probably one of the
best jobs in America.
Speaker 6 (39:54):
Make all the money, you don't get hit.
Speaker 18 (39:55):
Yep.
Speaker 7 (39:56):
I think that you just find sit on the sidelines there.
I know they're all competitors that want to play, but yeah,
like you said, Easton Stakes made a lot of money
and just in a backup role gotten there in a
couple of games. You did mention sax State a little
while ago as a winner maybe in the portal. Do
we count them as fcs for this year? What are
we doing there with polls and everything.
Speaker 17 (40:16):
As of right now, yes, because they still haven't gotten
their waiver, still hasn't gotten approved yet to go FBS independence.
You know, the FBS Oversight Committee is meeting later this
month and we'll see if they'll vote on that or not.
But then it goes to the D one Council, which
that next meeting I think would be in June. So
(40:36):
we still don't know if sax State is going to
get that waiver approved. If they hypothetically, let's say they
do get that waiver approved, they would join the FBS
in twenty twenty six. They would still be an FTS
member this year in twenty twenty five, but they would
not be eligible for the playoffs, which means, you know,
as far as the media poll, they went eligible to
(40:56):
be voted on in the media poll. And so I
kind of have the I have the expectations that sax
State will not be playff eligible this year because I
do think they are going to get that waiver approved.
But as we as we sit right now, they're they're
fully FTS members and they don't have that pathway to
the FBS approved just yet.
Speaker 7 (41:16):
I've got Shaquille O'Neal as a general manager. They've got
Mike Bibby on basketball. Yeah, they've gone a little crazy.
It's been awesome though. Well, Sam, will let you enjoy
some time they're out on the lakes here over the
next couple of months. But they appreciate the time today
and I'm sure we'll catch up with you again here
throughout this summer.
Speaker 17 (41:31):
All right, That sounds gat with me, and thank you guys.
Speaker 6 (41:32):
Thanks Sam, Sam, Herder here with us on the Insider
Strangers that if their waiver doesn't go through for sex dates,
oh gosh, crawling back the big sky, Yeah, knocking back
out of the door. Yeah, goodness, gracious, they'd be stuck
in limbo there. Yeah, that's gonna be something to watch
these next couple of months. Like Sam said, this is
(41:54):
the time where the realignment happens. The calendar year in
college athletics flips over July one, and if you want
to get yourself ready, there's nothing you can do for
the twenty twenty five season that's already set in stone.
But twenty twenty six is again when this stuff starts
to cycle again, just like twenty four was the year
of Okay, first time Washington and Oregon are gonna be
(42:15):
playing this big ten schedule UCLA USC we went into
the unknown this past year. Two years later we'll get
another one. So this is the time. Just keep your
eyes peeled on anything realignment here these next couple months.
As we get into the summer eleven forty three, glad

Give us your prediction Game one later on tonight. Before
we dig into that a little bit more, do need
to mention Andy Bison men's basketball looks like they have
(46:54):
another commit for this upcoming year and it is out
of the high school ranks. Another addition to the NDSU
men's twenty twenty five high school class, they had Riley
Massey signed out of Missouri going back to the fall,
and they've since built on that. The Bison have added
Dom Clay We talked about transferring in or signing in
(47:17):
from Illinois, which I think is an exciting get six
foot three, six foot four guard with a lot of
athleticism and jump. And the Bison have added another and
that is Riley Saunders from Fairburn, Georgia. He has committed
to NDSU. This went a little under the radar. He
put it out on his Instagram a couple of days
(47:38):
ago from the state of Georgia. One thousand career point
scorer at Landmark Christian High School in Fairburn, Georgia. I
don't know if Bison men's basketball has ever dipped into
the state of Georgia before. We were talking about this
before the show. Fairly rare that we've seen a Bison
athlete at all from the state of Georgia. Dom Jones,
(48:02):
former football player for NDSU, was from Georgia, yep, just
a little north of Atlanta there. But Riley Saunders another
high school commit. He is a point guard six foot
so potentially some long term depth behind Damorrow wheeler Thomas
Andy Stefanowitz as well. And he comes in from Landmark
Christian in Georgia, and he's committed to NDSU, so a
(48:26):
third member of this high school class, and that'll boost
the roster up by one more to ten for this
upcoming season.
Speaker 7 (48:33):
Guards.
Speaker 6 (48:33):
Guards, guards, We've got a bunch of them, and obviously
Andy likes to shoot the threes, and you need guards
that can score the basketball. I think that is I
think it's been fairly proven. Now you need other positions too,
but I think it's been fairly proven that's the way
you win in the summer league. There's a lot of
very talented guards in the summer league, so why not
stockpile him a little bit? For Riley, I think a
(48:54):
little bit of a struggling to the fact that you
got Andy Stefano, whit'z waiting there, Tomarry Wheeler Thomas coming
back as well. The point guard.
Speaker 7 (49:01):
Spot at least can be very well stocked here going forward.
But hey, add some more depth, add some more pieces,
someone that can develop a little bit. I think Dave
Richmond's doing a good job here this year, trying to
straddle the line of got to bring in some players
that can contribute right away and a little bit more
of the proven commodity that we've seen with Max Marley
and Trevian Carson, and still trying to develop and get
(49:23):
some young freshman bodies in here too, to be a
developmental program. Maybe some names or some players that were
overlooked because we have talked about this the power for schools,
or they've just taken the best players from everywhere, and
then the group of five is taking maybe the freshmen
in high school that would have gone originally to the
Kentuckys of the world or whatever. Well, not the ones
(49:44):
that we've gone to. The group of five are getting
overlooked and that. But it comes down to more of
the the mid mid majors, load mid majors, whatever, you know.
So I think there's a trickle done effect and trying
to stratle the line of getting a little bit of
both if you can having hands on both cookie.
Speaker 6 (49:57):
Jars, so to speak. Yeah, you had to. He had
a lot of players to add to this team and
you can't get every single one of them through the portal,
and it's good to get some more players from high
school to develop and see what you can do with
them long term. So Riley Saunders, the latest commit for
NDSU men's Basketball anticipate some more transfers here potentially as
well for the Bison men. By the way, over the weekend,
(50:22):
in case you missed it, Jackson Money, I'm sure a
lot of you have been wondering about what's next for
Jackson as far as his pro prospects after a fantastic
year with the Bison. He has received a G League
Elite camp invite. This was out on social media from
draft express dot com over the weekend, and it looks
(50:46):
like Jackson's gonna get a chance to the G League
Elite Camp, which is amazing. This is I think exactly
what the doctor ordered for Jackson Money, just to get
the opportunity. We know the intrigue and the potential that
he's had and generated throughout what was a dazzling season
his only year with the Bison, coming over from Northern State,
but was above twenty points a game this past year,
(51:08):
the rebounds at five point seven, assists at nearly for
a game as efficient as against the efficiency rankings. Love Jackson,
his versatility, we know his IQ. He's gonna get a
chance here G League Elite camp invite. That's big for
him and should be a really good opportunity. For him
to show off what he's already demonstrated in a college setting,
(51:29):
but to get in front of NBA teams and hopefully
get an opportunity here like so many other buys and
have in the pros.
Speaker 7 (51:34):
We see in the NBA as bigs that can shoot
and can pass, because you need to be able to
pass it to the post and find the rotation or
if there's a double team, he pass your big and
you can find the next pass, next guy opening the corner,
whatever it is. Bigs that can shoot and can pass,
can play. And we know Jackson who can shoot the three,
lead the team and assist as well.
Speaker 6 (51:53):
Yes he did, he was leading the Summit as Yeah.
Speaker 7 (51:56):
Pretty rare commodity to have a guy at his height,
his size that can not only knock down three, you
can score inside, physical enough to score a little bit inside,
give you some points there. But I also be able
to pass the basketball, be a distributor of the basketball.
That's a pretty rare kind of trait to half right now.
Speaker 6 (52:11):
I feel like Jackson Boni has a lot of things
that you just can't teach correct yep, the IQ and
the skill the game of basketball. Sometimes you just got
to be born with it, right, you can develop it,
you can hone it, you can refine your skill. But
the what he has offensively, it's very hard to coach,
very hard to teach. And you make a good point
because NBA team's strap to guy that has the things
(52:33):
we can't coach. We can coach the rest, we can
touch the rest, we can't teach six'. Ten they can
already shoot threes like this and can pass the, basketball
has the, vision those things he already. Has those are
things you really can't coach. Teach he has that, stuff
we'll figure out the way to get the. Rest not
saying he does enough room to, develop clearly he. Does
we know that it's not gonna be a lottery pick or,
anything BUT i would think back half Of round two
TEAMS i THOUGHT i could use. Him, sure no doubt about.
Speaker 7 (52:56):
It you MENTIONED ndsu men's, basketball adding the commit women's
basketball all so added a piece. Yesterday we've been waiting
for maybe one or two more names on this roster FOR.
Dysu we already know obviously About Jocelyn schiller coming over
from und the freshman of The year last. Year that's
gonna be a great. Ad as another score another guard
that can shoot some threes get to the. Rim they
(53:16):
added another big yesterday In Lily, knieber a center or
forward if you, want but six to, three originally from
well From, Chaska Minnesota Jordan, minnesota went To Chaska High.
School originally went To Indiana state for the last three.
Years so she has been with The sycamores for the
last three. Years last year only played in five games.
(53:37):
Injury believe that there's going to be a medical red shirt,
there so two years of eligibility for two years so
to play in college and she's gonna be coming AN
ndsu is another. Piece and you've Got Avery. Konan we
know that you've got maybe an Abby chriswinsky that's going
through some postseason injury. Stuff you Had Mariley simon who
obviously went down with the injury at the very end
(53:57):
of the regular season last year Against. Omaha you needed
just another depth piece. There you're bringing in a couple
of FRESHMEN i think are going to be really. Good one,
Them carrington ask who joined right After christmas for the second,
semester and she's been practicing for that for the last
whatever be four or five months, now and she's gonna
hit the ground. RUNNING i Think karington is going to
be a phenomenal player for. Him but you need some
more depth, there another, body another player that you feel
(54:19):
like you can put in and can produce for. You
So Lily nibber six to three forward From, Jordan Minnesota
Chaska High, school spent the last three years At Indiana.
State last year a little bit, injured but she'll provide
some depth there for. Sure and somebody can get you some,
rebounds maybe some scoring. Inside we know How Jory collins
likes to work the ball into the. Paint that's another
piece for him for. Sure love to get. There FOR
ndsu women's, basketball continue to build out a. Roster you
(54:42):
graduate a few key, players Namely Abby, Draper Aby, sholti
and we'll see how the bids and women are ready
to go as they continue to bolster up their roster
for twenty five twenty six three player freshman class coming.
In he had a couple of transfers in there as.
Well you, know you Lost Arren hamling in the transfer,
portal and Obviously schulty And draper both, graduated so kind
(55:03):
of makes sense from a roster management.
Speaker 6 (55:05):
Stand big bad basketball coming up, here, ye very, big big.
Year see if they can get back on top on the.
Bedside and then for The bison women chase down that
big first. Title that's what we're all looking forward. To
eleven fifty. Six got to take our last time out

unfortunately a tough loss there for The, bison but one
heck of a game and almost a big comeback FOR. Ndsu,
blake we appreciate you. Man It's sam. Here great to
have you on the. PROGRAM i enjoyed catching up when
we were talking outside the dugout On. Saturday how are,
(01:06:00):
you my? Friend and how is this for you and your?
Teammates kind of end of the, semester winding down with,
school but we've still got baseball here for a few
weeks in the heat of conference. Play.
Speaker 29 (01:06:11):
Yeah, WELL i appreciate you guys having me, On and
this time of the year is kind of, crazy trying
to study and get ready for, finals but also preparing
for making a deep run in the. Postseason and like you,
mentioned obviously we would have liked to win those games this,
weekend but, overall we played some really good baseball or
(01:06:33):
you was a good, team and we were just two
or three plays away from going three and oh instead
of one and two on the. Weekend So i'm looking
forward the next few, weeks making a run in the
postseason and seeing what we can.
Speaker 11 (01:06:45):
Do in the.
Speaker 7 (01:06:45):
Tournament, yeah it was a great, series a great couple of.
Games are unfortunately losing a few an, extres but you
guys win That saturday one somewhat. Convincingly you know you
mentioned the end of the semester. Here what is it
like preparing for? Finals preparing for all this? Stuff i'm
sure for you you've got probably three or four things
you got to be planning, for test, wise maybe a
paper or. Something and you've also got the end of
(01:07:06):
a regular season, here these last couple of, weeks and
these games mean a ton for the postseason.
Speaker 29 (01:07:10):
Tournament, yeah and the athletics department does a great job
giving us a great support staff to help us study
and have any resources that we. Need but, Yeah i've
got two papers and a few final exams to, take
so there's a lot coming, up no.
Speaker 6 (01:07:30):
Doubt, man those papers are the ones that'll get. YOU
i did not like trying to sit down and focus
when it comes to. Papers so we'll be thinking of
Your blake to get those. Done Blake timmins with us
buy some baseball redshirt freshmen out Of soul In. Iowa
so you go four for four On sunday and your
first career, Start, blake your first career hit is a
(01:07:50):
home run a few weeks ago Against Northern. Colorado just
take us through for you, individually what your approach has
been here at the, plate and what's been the key
ingredient for you having some success seeing the ball, well.
Speaker 29 (01:08:05):
You, know, honestly it's just going back to my preparation
and the confidence THAT i can compete and play at this.
LEVEL i know that everyone in the dugout and in
the stands is fully confident in me THAT i can
do really, well and it's just believing in. Myself and
(01:08:26):
in that, MOMENT i was just, thinking see a ball
up and hit something hard and then run like, crazy
because no matter what, happens just hit it. Hard that's
all you can. Do sometimes, baseball you can hit it really,
hard just right at. Someone SO i was just trying
to hit something really.
Speaker 30 (01:08:40):
Hard you.
Speaker 7 (01:08:41):
Know there's been some injuries here for the team as
a whole, blake and we are told By Tyler oaks
that you And Aiden shank and a few others guys
that are playing now weren't even really on the travel
party for the non conference portion of the. Season SO
i want to, know first, off how was it during
that non conference, portion still getting your work, in still,
grinding knowing my opportunity he's going to be. Coming and
then once Coach ookes comes to you and, says, hey
(01:09:03):
this guy's down that guy's, shirt we're gonna we're gonna
throw you. In what was that conversation like for?
Speaker 6 (01:09:08):
You?
Speaker 29 (01:09:10):
Yeah quite, honestly it's it's pretty tough seeing the team
go and you having to stay back and not being
able to be a part of it, sometimes but you
just got to keep. Grinding And i'm really proud Of
aiden for doing the. Same he's got a few really
big hits for us as. Well but pretty much after
before THE stsu, series the first time we played them at,
(01:09:33):
HOME i had a conversation with the coaches and they're,
like your time's, coming just just be ready to. Go
and from that moment on just kind of ran with
it and doing WHAT i.
Speaker 6 (01:09:43):
Can Blake timmins here WITH Us Bison baseball freshman on
The Brady March. Hotline, yeah it's it's been awesome, man
seeing you guys sees the moment and wait until your
name's called and then come in and capitalize both you
And aiden as. Well, blake give us a little bit
about just what this team's identity and how you guys
(01:10:05):
have been able to create. It you, know you play
a tough non league, schedule one of the toughest In,
america so you get weathered a little, bit you learn some,
more and then you come back in a league play
and you're competing here up at the. Top what do
you think this, team in this group in, particular has
kind of prided itself on at the plate and how
do you think you guys have been able to kind
(01:10:26):
of hone in on that these last couple of.
Speaker 29 (01:10:28):
Weeks, YEAH i think first of, all we're just a
really close, group which helps with any. Team but also
we preach especially at the, plate not striking, out putting
the bone and play making the defense, work AND i
think we've done a lot better job of that. RECENTLY
i think earlier in the year we were maybe seeing
(01:10:48):
too many pitches go by or something like, that and
then recently we've just been putting a lot of pressure
on the defense because we've also got a lot of
speed in our lineup as, well so we can do
a few other things like bunt run things like. That
and then as a pitching, staff we've been throwing really really.
Well Nolan johnson really good. Outing Logan knight had another
(01:11:10):
really good outing this. Weekend so it's good to see
them just pounding the zone and TOGETHER i think we
can make a really good run in the.
Speaker 7 (01:11:20):
Postseason Nolan johnson named the The Peak pitcher of The
week for his performance there last. Week for you guys
against or are? You you had six hits in that,
series like sim was, mentioned a couple of, times you
went four for four there also to sacrifice. Bunts really
five productive at bats for Your sunday AGAINST, ru your,
score four, runs including the game tying, run your drive four.
In you had a home run in that. Game just
(01:11:42):
what kind of confidence are you stepp into the plate
with right? Now with the way you've been swinging the.
Speaker 6 (01:11:45):
Bat.
Speaker 29 (01:11:47):
YEAH i jokingly told my parents that the ball was
looking like a watermelon that. Day just saw it really
well out of the pitcher's, hand really locked in and
just honestly just trying to do WHATEVER i could to
help the team. Win and it just so happened THAT
i came up in some big spots On sunday and
over the. Weekend but also SOMETIMES i have to be
(01:12:07):
that guy who is just a punch runner lat in,
games or just the energy.
Speaker 2 (01:12:12):
Guy in the.
Speaker 29 (01:12:12):
Dugout so it just so happened THAT i was the
guy to come up with a big hit On sunday
and this. Weekend so it was, awesome but obviously wish
we could have won those, games and hopefully we see
those guys again later down the, road.
Speaker 6 (01:12:28):
No, Doubt, Blake how are you guys looking forward to
tomorrow night's exhibition against The RedHawks taking out a pro.
Team going to be playing with wood, bats which will
be an interesting. EXPERIENCE i don't know if you had
a chance to play summer ball last year in a
wood bat, league but just what's kind of the conversations
between you and your teammates about this opportunity and what
are you expecting tomorrow night going up against some.
Speaker 29 (01:12:49):
Pros, yeah it should be really. Fun expecting a really
good crowd and most of our position guys actually playing
collegiate summer, leagues so most of us uh use would
during the, summer AND i actually like. It it's a
little it's a little more challenging than a metal bat
(01:13:09):
to get a hit, sometimes BUT i think it'll be really,
fun a good test for. Us also see where we,
are and then also hopefully we play well and continue
our our confidence and are our good mojo heading in
the last few weeks of conference.
Speaker 7 (01:13:26):
Play that Game tomorrow, night six, Pm Newman Outdoor, field
Far Go Moore head Red hawks and The North Dakota
State University bison as. Well what's it going to be
like for you to go to the, Visitors doug, Guy.
Speaker 29 (01:13:39):
It's gonna be, weird not really over there a.
Speaker 7 (01:13:42):
Lot, YEAH i think it'd be weird for all of.
US i mean visiting radio radio booth for us as.
Well everything's gonna be a little b. Different it canna
be a really fun game THERE ndsu AND uh and
The Red hawks Again wednesday. Night This, Wednesday Newman Outdoor
field at six. PM i know you played in right.
Field you gotta play in the field because Unfortunately Dante
smith the only a little bit of an injury over
this last weekend there against or are you you were
(01:14:03):
out there as a right. Fielder some people, say, like,
MAN i JUST i hit better When i'm playing in the.
Field it keeps me, engaged keeps me into it rather
than being THE dh and you're kind of sitting for
a little bit with the team's out there on. Defense
what's that like for you when you are THE dh
you're getting extra swings in the. Back what's kind of
your process going about that when you're not playing the,
field and is it different when you are playing the?
Speaker 29 (01:14:22):
Field just trying to stay locked in on what the
pitcher's doing to other guys in the, lineup or trying
to pick up some tendencies on what they. Do and
we run out so many left handed, hitters me being
one of, them that they tend to fall into a
trend to certain. Guys so just picking up some tendencies
(01:14:42):
and what they like to throw in certain. Counts but
like you, said it is a little bit easier to
get in the flow of the game playing on. Defense
also not having to sit there in the, dugout but
just trying to stay locked in in the dugout and
do what you can and to help the team.
Speaker 7 (01:15:00):
Win, WELL i got a chance in the circle there
as well to See shafner hitting in front of, you
and you're hitting the two. Hole what's it like to
See Jake shaffner do his thing right in front of?
Speaker 21 (01:15:09):
You?
Speaker 29 (01:15:09):
HUH i, mean what a great, player even even better
person and friend he's. CRAZY i, mean he does some
things that you don't see a lot of people, do
and he goes about it in a tremendous. Manner and
it's great to be able to hit behind, them and you,
(01:15:30):
know most of the time he's going to get, on
so my job is just to move him over and
have the guys behind me hit him.
Speaker 6 (01:15:35):
In so, yeah we love watching him play. Man he
is something else at shortstop and the leadoff spot For bison.
Baseball we're getting ready for tomorrow's exhibition FOR ndsu against
THE Fm RedHawks against six. O'clock we'll have the game for.
You you're On bison sixty and. Sixty Blake timmins with. Us,
blake you're from soul And, iowa same hometown As Cam,
miller and you played With cam both football and baseball
(01:16:00):
in high. School could you take us back to that
experience and let the listeners know just you're tie in
with the now former buys a quarterback with The. Raiders.
Speaker 29 (01:16:09):
Yeah, cam he's been a big role model and friend
for me for a long. Time pretty much from my
eighth grade year, ON i was working out with him
AND i was very fortunate just to learn from. Him
and then also his, dad who's A Iowa High School
hall Of fame football. Coach So I'm i'm pretty close With.
CAM i text him pretty, often just supporting each, other
(01:16:32):
most recently on draft, night and he responded right away
saying thanks and, Yeah i've been really close with, him
and he's been a great role model for me in
how you need to do things to get to the next.
Level and ever SINCE i was that little eighth, GRADER
i knew that Once cam was, DONE i wanted to
take over for, him and he helped, me and his
(01:16:55):
dad also helped, me and just a just a great
family over.
Speaker 6 (01:17:00):
Role, blake What's Cam miller the baseball player? Like and
What's Blake timmins the football quarterback? Like give us a
Little scotty report on.
Speaker 29 (01:17:09):
Both cam is a he's a huge. Competitor as you
see in, football he could swing it really. Well he
played third base mostly FOR us and then also. Pitched
but he, WAS i mean one of the toughest guys out,
there just as you see on the football. FIELD i
mean he he was a tremendous, teammate competitor and he
(01:17:33):
always was that leader FOR us and then me as
a football. PLAYER i, MEAN i wasn't always the biggest,
guy BUT i would SAY i was pretty. SCRAPPY i
was more of a dual threat. QUARTERBACK i was probably
fifty to fifty on running it and throwing. It but
my favorite part was playing. DEFENSE i liked hitting, people
(01:17:54):
and coaches didn't really like that because they don't want
me to get hurt for. Offense but NOW i can
say THAT i really like hitting people and bringing the
energies for the.
Speaker 7 (01:18:03):
Team Tim paulisi ever needs an extra, LINEBACKER i think
we know where to look. Then hitting baseball and hitting
people right there are stuff on the run in the.
Speaker 6 (01:18:10):
HOLE i like. That so that's awesome to hear.
Speaker 7 (01:18:12):
That that's a cool experience with that kind of experience
With cam in each trips To vegas and check that thing,
out see him in, PERSON.
Speaker 29 (01:18:22):
I, mean that would be. AWESOME i haven't really found
of that, yet BUT i, mean, actually one of my
high school baseball coaches is a Huge raiders, fan SO
i bet he'll go out there a few times, too
and maybe one Time i'll.
Speaker 6 (01:18:33):
Join it A Kael, cool that'd be. Awesome, Well, blake
we appreciate you. Man always fun getting to catch up
thanks for taking some time out of Your tuesday to join.
Us we'll be looking forward to tomorrow night's. Game have
a good practice here later today and we'll see you
out there at the ballpark tomorrow for a fun.
Speaker 17 (01:18:51):
One, yeah thank.
Speaker 29 (01:18:52):
YOU i appreciate you guys having.
Speaker 6 (01:18:54):
Me Thanks, Blake, Absolutely Blake timmins here with us on
The insiders Of Red Shirt Fri fishman and out Of Stolen.
Iowa as you you heard, there he played With cam multiple.
Sports he didn't just play uh football and, Baseball uh
they're out of high. School blake, did but Obviously cam's,
Dad hall Of fame coach of the high school ranks.
Speaker 7 (01:19:15):
Coach base makes sense For. Cam, yeah a strong arm
across the our thought. Outfield with that, arm you, know
the long throw in something like. That mm, hm third
base makes some sense as. Well, yeah across the, way
the long. Throw pitching a little bit. Too AND i
Like blake dual, threat, yep dual Threat timmins right, there. Scrappy,
yeah like's hitting as, well that makes. Sense he's he's
(01:19:35):
hitting well for The, bison and they'll be looking for
him here down in these next couple of. Weeks like we've,
Said andy a couple of, Injuries Dante smith, Out Ivan
guston's been down for the. Count when those guys get
back and get, healthy because they will hopefully get healthy
in these next couple of. Weeks even when they get,
back it's be pretty tough For tyler has to take
that bat out of.
Speaker 6 (01:19:53):
The, line but he's, yeah it's just been, scrappy like you,
said just an absolute scrapper at the. Plate and that's
What indias you need to keep moving forward. Here Nolan,
johnson by the, way well deserved on the pitcher of the.
Week that was the Best i've seen him in. Person eight,
innings only allowed one, run so you didn't, win but
it was a tough, game a tough loss on A
friday for The, bison going down, two one and. Ten
(01:20:16):
but he was just proving he works so. Fast he
was in attack, mode never was behind a. COUNT i
mean it was like, two, one, one two every single,
time and he was mowing down guys. Efficiently and Then
Logan night was really good On saturday, too and that's
why The bison were able to. Win they got some
runs support and some home runs to back them. Up
(01:20:37):
those two are, there, well you know we'll see Where
parker pitch is at long. Term, again The bison have
been careful there making sure they're managing his, return make
sure he's. Comfortable he hasn't pitched the last couple of.
Speaker 7 (01:20:47):
Weekends shoot and sergeants as, well helping you out Landing
ConA could be an extra starter for him come tournament.
Speaker 6 (01:20:52):
Time m. H but if those two can give you
the starts like all sign up For Nolan johnson eight,
innings one run ball every single conference. Tournament if you
can get What Logan knight did working in the seventh On,
saturday you're in good. Shape you're in good shape Taking
bullpen's pretty decent at the back end.
Speaker 7 (01:21:09):
Too omaha in the first round potentially think Ether Nolan
johnson for that. One if you can win that, one
you face o are? You Logan knight's been pretty tough
for them to hit nine innings scoreless the first time
and went six hitting scoreless back last week before the,
seventh and he gave up a couple of. Runs SO
i would be pretty happy with those matchups IF i
Were Tyler.
Speaker 6 (01:21:27):

a trusted financial, Institution First Western bank for sixty years
(01:27:04):
in counting you can bank on a S Matthew coller
of The Purple. Insider in a couple of, minutes we'll
talk some vikings with the one and only Mister. Collard
but first got a new transfer FOR ndsu football coming
across the. Desk this was just a couple of minutes.
Ago The bison have added a running back in the
(01:27:25):
transfer portal and he is from The. Gophers cortes Le
grant has announced his commitment TO ndsu five eleven one
five From Sun, Prairie. Wisconsin was a running back for
The gophers the last two years in The minnesota, program
did not. Play he red shirted in twenty twenty three
(01:27:45):
as true freshman last year did not see any game,
action but he announced his commitment TO. Ndsu about it
twenty minutes ago and he comes into the running back
room to try and pick up some slack AND ndsu
some more. Depth, obviously With marty transferring out a couple
of weeks, Ago bison added Dj scott For Kennesaw. State
(01:28:08):
now they add another from A big ten program here
In minnesota And Cortes la grant three years of Eligibility
andy for one lagrant who comes in over From minnesota
and he was in for a visit over the spring
game weekend WITH. Ndsu looks like that's paid. Off two weeks,
later The bison have another commit.
Speaker 7 (01:28:27):
Follows The simazach. Formula we were just talking about. Yesterday
a guy that doesn't he's gonna be coming in here
after playing three or four years and has one year
about someone that, yes you're entering the transfer. Portal yes
you're grabbing somebody as a transfer into the, program but
it's someone that has multiple years left to still. Develop
so it's kind of like a balance of both Of,
yes using the transfer portal to your. Good the transfer
(01:28:48):
portal take, it that also, giveth but you're still gonna
be able to develop this guy for you, know a
year or two or, three and who, knows maybe you
don't keep him all those. Years whatever it, is but
you need to add some depth to that running back.
ROOM i just get some more bodies and, also, hey
now you've really got to open competition Like, yeah we
Know parika is number.
Speaker 6 (01:29:04):
One Owen, johnson you're back from.
Speaker 7 (01:29:06):
Injury Monty, mitchell you're a freshman that has a lot
of expectations on. You we've got other guys in that
room as. Well now we've brought in two. Transfers let
the competition, again roll that thing out and then see
who wins the kind of the backup of the number
two role.
Speaker 6 (01:29:18):
THERE i really like this quote From Buys report On.
Twitter this is From Cortesla, grant New bison commit From,
minnesota the running. Back he, says, QUOTE i really Believe
i'm going to be the extra offensive weapon they need
to repeat a. CHAMPIONSHIP i like that good confidence. There
Cortesla grant transfer in From, minnesota committed To bison earlier this.
(01:29:39):
Hour we're ready to talk a little pro so. Too
and we've got The Purple insider on the line on
with us on The Brady martz. Outline Brady martz make everyday.
Count and we've got A Purple, Insider Matthew caller here
with us on the phone. Lines as The vikings obviously
have wrapped up their draft a little while, ago started
to get some drafts signings for different teams that have
signed actually as, well and now the second round of
(01:30:01):
free agency getting. Going Matthew caller here with. Us, matthew
good to have you a, man appreciate the. Time what's
it like for you now a chance to breathe a
little bit post draft and.
Speaker 34 (01:30:09):
Everything, yeah, NO i. Know but it's funny though because
in years, past things Like OTA's And mini, camp we're
kind of, Like, okay we'll go out to a practice
and stand in the sun and just you, know do
a couple, interviews very. Chill but WITH jj McCarthy taking
over the reins here and so many new pieces all
(01:30:31):
of a, sudden OTAs And Mini, camp the one practice
we get to see a week are going to be
a big deal and we're going to have to have
emergency podcasts breaking down everything we saw and things like.
That SO i think this offseason is going to be
all about, that, right all about HOW jj McCarthy progresses
and how he fits in and how he's coming along
(01:30:53):
and all that sort of. Stuff so there will still
be those little flashes of intense moments of coverage before
we get to training. Camp but, yeah for right, now
it was, like all, right so what do we do
now we look at everybody's power. RANKINGS i think that's
what this week is. About it's it's crazy how THE
nfl goes from the gas pedal all the way down
(01:31:13):
to then a dead stop.
Speaker 7 (01:31:14):
As it is right, now a schedule, announcement it's on
the horizon watch all?
Speaker 12 (01:31:19):
Right yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:31:20):
Anouncement? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (01:31:20):
Absolutely how do you try and cover that? Here you,
know this is a little bit of a you, know
a future down the road. Question but since you brought
it up there With Mini camp and Rookie Minnie camps
and all the OTAs and, everything how do you go
about trying to COVER jj McCarthy and not do like
the over analyzing of, like, man the way he was
jogging out to the field and this one passy, through
like you know WHAT i, mean some people go over
(01:31:41):
the top with. That how do you try and balance
that line a little bit Of, hey we've got to
get some info on this. Guy we got to tell
you what's going on in practice and give you as
best we can kind of a view into how he is,
doing but also not pick apart every single pass that
is technically still in a practice right.
Speaker 34 (01:31:55):
Now oh, no we overreact like we're crazy to every single. Pass,
yeah we're gonna be writing down, locations accuracy. Rating, No
i'm just, Kidding but it is a challenge because it,
really in the entire evaluation means absolutely, nothing but fans
are going to be so interested to hear how it.
(01:32:16):
Went and we only get to see one of the
three practices per week for the THREE ota, sessions and
then we see two or three practices For mini. Camp
SO i, think all said and, done we're going to
see him five or six times over the next six,
weeks which is not a very big sample of watching
somebody practice in training. Camp that's a single, week, Right
(01:32:39):
So i've always thought in the, past don't even really
bother watching OTAs in mini camp because they don't really
tell you. MUCH i, mean they're not IN i, MEAN
i go And i'm interested in what the coaches are
saying and what the players are saying about their. Progression
but this is really the learning phase of the. Offense
they're just trying and. Defense they're just trying to get
(01:33:00):
everybody kind of on the same page to set the
stage for training. Camp but even last year WHEN jj McCarthy,
arrived he didn't look very good in OTA's in mini,
camp he was really. Inaccurate he seemed to be struggling
to get down the, footwork and so of, course you,
know we do our. Reactions we're, like, eh you know,
this this might take a, while. Guys and then he
(01:33:21):
shows up at training camp and looks like a whole new.
Person about two weeks into training, camp and he's running
the offense and he knows where he's going with the,
football he's making. PLAYS i, mean it just tells you
where they're at with. This they also don't have pads,
on so they're just running around in shorts and jerseys
and it's just but you, KNOW i think what you're
looking for is just how comfortable does he look? Physically
(01:33:44):
does he look like he's dropping back. Smoothly we saw
him the other day during the workout session throw a
couple of passes and it looked. Fine but, now how
does he look, actually you, know getting under that center
a little bit and making some throws just because he
is coming off of that injury and hasn't run an
eleven on eleven drill since Last? August so how does
(01:34:05):
the rust? Look does he look like he's in? Command
but that's really all you can take away from, that
it's just the nature of the beast in THE nfl
that we always want more, analysis more, news, more you
know that kind of. Thing so you do have to
kind of tow that line between talking about how it
looks but also not making some big conclusion about what
(01:34:27):
that means for the.
Speaker 6 (01:34:27):
Season my, Favorite matthew is the team social media counts
with the slow mo tight spiral during trading camp and
it's some fun music behind it and that everybody freaks.
Out but certainly kind of getting to that time of
the year in the. Offseason Matthew kuller here with this
Other purple insider talking Some. Vikings you'll had five picks
for The vikes here of this, Draft, matthew we know
(01:34:50):
About Domon jackson in the first round out Of Ohio.
State continuing to budget attention to the interior offensive. Line
out of the other four, guys who who was the
most intriguing to round out this draft class for The
vikings in your? Eyes, YEAH i.
Speaker 34 (01:35:06):
Would definitely say for this year right away that the
Receiver Tye felton out Of maryland has the chance to
carve himself out a. ROLE i don't think that the
other players they drafted. DO i think that's more of
a little, bit more for the future and more for.
Depth but as far as Ty, FELTON i, mean this
is a guy who ran a sub four four, forty
(01:35:28):
was spectacular at making plays in space and breaking. Tackles
he had one of the highest broken tackle rates of
any wide receiver despite the fact that he's not a big,
guy so he doesn't run over. People but he's very very,
fast very very, shifty and that's something that The vikings
just really don't have on their. Roster and it's clear
that they wanted to get that player who you could
(01:35:49):
throw a bubble screen, to you could throw a quick out,
too and you, know maybe you complete a three yard
pass that turns into a fifteen yard pass because the
guy is really good after the. Catch they just really
don't have. THAT i, mean Justin, jefferson there's only so
many times you want him taking a bunch of hits
on screens where everyone's rallying to the football and drilling
the guy. Like you don't Want jefferson doing. That A
(01:36:10):
Ton addison's not really a yard after catch, guy And
Jalen naylor is pretty much a pure deep, threat so
they also Signed Rondelle moore in the, offseason SO i
think there's a competition. There but when you watch AND
i know it's like highlight reels and stuff like, that
but when you watch Ty felton's best plays from, COLLEGE i,
mean that's really what he's. Doing he's taking a lot
(01:36:30):
of quick passes and turning them into something. Big so
not THAT i think that he's going to completely change
the landscape of The vikings, offense but it's pretty clear
that they WANT jj McCarthy to be able to throw
some easy passes that turn into something. More it's part
of the reason they brought Back Aaron jones because he's
so terrific at catching the ball out of the. Backfield
and THEN i THINK. Tj hawkinson might be in for
(01:36:52):
a bigger season as. Well because you want to create
an offense where there's easy completion's easy yards and then
every once in a while having to do something special
down the. Field but it felt like last year with this,
offense way too often they were just Saying Sam darnold
brought it thirty yards down the, field or we don't
have an. Offense they don't want that FOR jj, McCarthy
(01:37:12):
SO i think there is a chance that Ty felton
fits into something right.
Speaker 6 (01:37:15):
Away on the other.
Speaker 7 (01:37:17):
One That sam, Mentioned Donovan, jackson the first round pick
there going interior offensive, line a guy that played left
guard a ton in his, career obviously played left tackle
a little bit there at the. End we know how
else to had an injury to their left. Tackle he
bumped out there kind of did the best thing for
the team in that. REGARD i think what we've heard
from a lot of people, is, man he's got a low,
floor like he's just going to be a, solid good
(01:37:37):
pro for. You it's a good pick there at an
area where The vikings probably had a position of. Need
you could, say you, Know Blake brandell was, there but
now you get another guy you can throw into that. Mix,
obviously all picks are risk their, picks some, workouts some.
Don't we know, That but what have you kind of
gathered in your research since the pick About Donovan jackson
(01:37:58):
the likelihood that he could Start week one and be
a guy that holds down that spot for a.
Speaker 6 (01:38:03):
While, YEAH i.
Speaker 34 (01:38:04):
Think it's one of the safer picks in the ENTIRE nfl.
Draft but safe doesn't have to be bad when it
comes to the having only four, picks they could have moved,
back and you saw some really crazy trades that happened
with The falcons trading of future, first and you have
to wonder did The vikings get that? Offer and What
(01:38:25):
Klacy adopflamensas said after Drafting Donovan, jackson he made a golf,
comparison AND i don't know how much he golfed because
it wasn't exactly right with the, metaphor but, basically, like
get it on the fairway and get a. Par don't
try to swing for the home run and end up
putting it in the woods because you were trying to
get too. Cute like this team is really stacked in
(01:38:47):
every part of their. ROSTER i was looking At Mike
clay FROM espn and his positional, rankings and he had
The vikings as a top five defense and top four
outside of the quarterback for the other. Positions that's not
a team that you want to mess with too, much
right if you can get someone who could come in
plug and, play start at left guard and be a
(01:39:08):
big upgrade From Blake, brandle who last year ranked in
the bottom five amongst starters BY pff grade and top
five and pressures. ALLOWED i, mean if you cut that
in half and get average play From Donovan jackson with
the rest of this offensive, line you're talking about something
that could actually move the. Needle it's been more about
just surviving in past years rather than having a difference
(01:39:29):
making offensive. Line AND i think when you meet the
Kid Donovan, jackson, intelligence, maturity like all those things that,
SHOWED i think For Ohio state with him moving to left,
tackle that really impressed. Them it was something that kind
of got them over the hump with him was the
fact that he was willing to do that even though
he didn't have, To like the coaching staff said To Donovan,
(01:39:51):
jackson if you don't want to because you think it'll
hurt your draft, status you don't have, To and he
decided to do it. Anyway and then by the, end
he allowed one quarterback press sure in three college playoff football.
Games so that's the best, competition the best players coming
off of that, edge and he shut them. Down SO
i think it says a lot about him as a.
Player AND i also just think to add on to
(01:40:12):
that that we see a guard as a safe and
non sexy, position but look at what defensive tackles did
in the playoffs in The Super, Bowl, well who's going against? Them,
LIKE i think the guard position is increasing in value
because of who they're going against these.
Speaker 8 (01:40:25):
Saves MATTHEW, I i've seen you wrote a couple of
times ABOUT jj McCarthy and his use of virtual reality
last year when he couldn't be on the, field but
he could get the play kind of in his head
and he could see the play From sam's point of.
View And i've never really heard of THAT nfl teams using,
That So i'm curious have you seen guys BESIDES jj
on the team use, it and from your point of,
(01:40:48):
view how much you feel like that kind of helped
him in what was supposed to be a last season
due to his injury last.
Speaker 17 (01:40:53):
Year it's definitely.
Speaker 34 (01:40:55):
Been around for a little while BECAUSE i Remember Case
keenum used some sort of system when he was with
The vikings back in twenty. SEVENTEEN i just don't think
it got talked about maybe a whole, lot or that
there's been big advancements in the technology. THERE i don't
know if how many other position players are using, it because, well,
one you have to have a camera on the guy's,
(01:41:17):
helmet so, LIKE i don't know how that easy that
would be for a defensive tackle or, something but you
could do it for a quarterback in. Practice the biggest
THING i think FOR jj McCarthy in using a system like,
that this is what he, said was being able to
Hear Sam darnold give the play, call because then you
can see it play out in front of you and
(01:41:39):
really visualize. IT i don't know how much it helps
or if you, know he's just good at football and
he would be good. ANYWAY i know That jade And
daniels talked a lot about how much it helped. Him
maybe that's just you, know guys using every bit of.
Technology i'm Sure Jaden daniels would be a good quarterback without,
it BUT i think it's just a little bit of
a value add for him specifically because he couldn't get
(01:42:01):
out onto the. Field and then When kevin O'Connell and
he are meeting each, week which they did last year
and going over, things he at least has a vision
of what the plays are going to look, like so
when they talk about how the game plan and stuff like,
that he's already got a sense for. It there's nothing
that's ever going through a place actually doing, it but
(01:42:22):
hearing How Sam darnold went about it and then seeing
it play, OUT i have to imagine it helps to some, extent,
RIGHT i, MEAN i don't know if there's even been
if it's been around long enough to study how the
results would change or what the impacts, are BUT i
guess it can't.
Speaker 7 (01:42:37):
Hurt, Yeah Matthew caller here with. Us find them On
twitter or x At Matthew coller readas stuff there On
Purple insider dot com like we all do. Here great
insight here during the. OFFSEASON a last one for, You.
Matthew second wave of free agency, here now that you're
past the deadline where anything affects the compensatory pick. FORMULA
i know The vikings already got their backup quarterback there
(01:42:57):
during the draft as well In. Sam how but any
position groups as a, whole you, see and there are
any names that you think could be joining The purple
here in the next week or.
Speaker 17 (01:43:06):
So, YEAH i don't.
Speaker 34 (01:43:09):
Know does this qualify as the fourth phase of free
vie or so we're in The oh that guy still
hasn't found a job. Faced you, know in years past
this was a fairly active time for The vikings because
their rosters weren't very good and they were. Desperate AND
i don't think that that's the situation. NOW i, mean
(01:43:29):
you remember a couple of years ago where they were
bringing in starters In, may Like Bashad breeland was Their
day one, starter and they're signing him off the scrap.
Heap they could look to add maybe another, corner maybe
another running back that's out, there but you're really just
talking about sprinkling a little seasoning on the roster rather
than looking for someone who makes an. IMPACT i know
(01:43:51):
that they've done so much this offseason that Every vikings
fan is, like give me more, transactions add more. Guys
but when you go through ross to be, LIKE i
don't know who you're getting rid of to bring in
some of these free. Agents so maybe maybe a, corner
there's maybe a veteran safety who's kicking. Around that might
be a backup type of. Acquisition BUT i don't think
(01:44:13):
that at this point there's a lot more they need
to do because they already spent like three hundred million
dollars in free. Agency, man what more do you?
Speaker 7 (01:44:20):
Want spend more, money more, money more, players.
Speaker 34 (01:44:22):
Exactly, yeah, right.
Speaker 7 (01:44:24):
That's the kind of the spot we're at right. Now all,
right right, there we have it by a couple of
names out. There probably could still intrigue Some vikings. Fans
we always want. More we're never satisfied until maybe they
get to a Super. Bowl, matthew appreciate the time as. Always,
MAN i know the kind of the off season for,
you bl try and keep in touch over the next
couple of.
Speaker 34 (01:44:38):

A i think he's an intriguing player On. MARYLAND i
think like the. REST i, mean we haven't touched on
the rest of the class and the, show and As matthew,
said they're kind of depth, pieces but can never go
wrong with a defensive player For georgia With tyry And

Speaker 8 (01:53:27):
Wolves in six interesting stat The rockets were plus fifty
three And Steven adams minutes and they're in their series
against The warriors and minus sixteen without, them so being
bigger For houston helped. Them SO i think we see
More Rudy gobert early and often in this, series maybe
series And nas And. Julius like we didn't see a
whole lot of big against the against The lakers early
(01:53:48):
on in that, SERIES i think we see more Big
so let's Go wolves in.
Speaker 5 (01:53:51):
Seven More Rudy gobert And julius r in.
Speaker 6 (01:53:53):
Seven or Six wolves and six? Six, okay right, tonight
big more bigger.
Speaker 5 (01:53:56):
Lineups wolves win by.
Speaker 6 (01:53:58):
Eight, okay so you got them covering by just a
point theream all, Right i'm gonna Go wolves in six as.
WELL i think that the Timber wolves are equipped to
take care of this, series not needed to go to
his seven. GAMES i like the, DEPTH i like the.
LENGTH i do think The warriors are on a little
bit of a downhill, slope AND i like them to
cover tonight as. WELL i Think Chris, finch as you
talked about at the beginning of the, Show, andy he
(01:54:19):

Three road teams already get the wins in the first.
Speaker 6 (01:54:27):
Game of this.
Speaker 7 (01:54:28):
Round Like ian told this, earlier it's never happened where
the road team has won all every, game won all
four game ones in the conference semi. Finals never happened.
BEFORE i think it's good for The. Wolves they've seen that.
Happen they've got a lot of respect for The, warriors
as they, should but has a lot of confidence right now.
Too you guys Win wolves in six to kind OF i, think,
okay it's a respect. Thing i'll say. It i'll be

the in the.
Speaker 6 (01:54:57):
Bay The wolves in both these games though at home
they win tonight by. Fifteen whoa double, figures double figure win. Tonight,
wow they're gonna get. Up and then early on in
the fourth, Quarter steve kur is gonna, say we're gonna
pull up long. Series smart thing to do probably for.
Them not a ton of, depth not a ton of.
Speaker 7 (01:55:14):
Size the key for, me how many minutes It's Kevon
