Speaker 1 (00:10):
Honey, I'm Delaney, and this is book called Today I'm
going to be telling you about hold Me Cowboy by
Mazy Yates. And to celebrate this week's enemies, to leverage trope,
we're drinking the ever classic Strawberry Crystal Light. And yeah,
so here are Cowboy facts of the week. This Cowboy
(00:32):
is from Christmas of twenty twenty two, and I think
this is the only one that actually has a Christmas theme.
Sydney's message on this one was, may this be the
year you finally find a cowboy to love. Let this
book be your inspiration to find a man wearing a
cowboy hat while it's snowing. Good luck, good luck, bitch
love Sidney honestly iconic and let's see. So this book
(00:57):
is part of the Copper Ridge series, which has books.
They all have amazing names. There's Take Me Cowboy, Hold
Me Cowboy, Seduce Me Cowboy, Want Me Cowboy, and Need
Me Cowboy. And for whatever reason, this book also had
a I'm gonna say quote unquote bonus book added, so
(01:21):
it's like two books in one. The second book is
called Black Tie Billionaire by Naima Simone. Because it's not
Cowboy themed, my summary is very based on memory and
not as thorough, but.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
Also more thorough than I expected it to be.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
So whatever, this one's a two fer, so let's get
into it. So here's our summary of Hold Me Cowboy. Okay,
So Madison West is out in a cabin in the
wilderness trying to get laid. She has invited this guy
named Christopher who she met somewhere and went on like
one date with, and he wanted them to like date,
(01:57):
but she's not into relationships because she's scarred before and
it's been ten years since she's had sex, so she's
like ready to get some. So she's rented out this cabin,
which is like, you know, semi out of town. This
isn't organ by the way, I don't think it says
wear an organ, but it's an organ. And so she's
in this cabin and she builds a fire in the
(02:20):
fireplace and then she puts on like some sexy lingerie
like she's ready, and she also has like a bunch
of condoms. This book really makes sure to let you
know they use condoms every fucking time. So she puts
some condoms like downstairs in case they like fuck as
soon as he gets there. Basically this might be the
(02:40):
horniest book of the series so far.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
Anyways.
Speaker 1 (02:45):
So but it's like snowing a whole bunch, which isn't
like normal for the part of organ that they're in.
So she's like sitting there and she's got a coat
on like over her sexy outfit, which I'm imagining like
classic like trench coat imagining, right, So she's like sitting
there waiting for him, and there's also like not good
(03:05):
phone service because she wanted this to be like out
of town and like remote kind of. So she's sitting
there inter sexy outfit, and the power goes out and
so she kind of sits in the dark for a minute.
But since she doesn't have phone service, she's like, fuck, okay,
I need to like figure something out. And she decides
to go next door because there's another cabin right next
(03:28):
door that's like bigger and also looks like it's still
has power. So she walks over there, but when she
knocks at the door, it's answered by her enemy, Sam McCormick, which,
like they're not really enemies. She makes him makes it
sound like she really hates this guy, but he's like
the ferrier for her family's like horses, so he's like
(03:48):
at her family's horse franch like all the fucking time.
But she just like hates him and like so whenever
he comes by to do horse things, she always like
shows up to like peck him and like annoy him basically,
and I'm like, okay, whatever, and she's like, well, they're
my animals, so I have a right to be there.
And I'm like, I guess, but just stopping a bitch,
(04:09):
but whatever. So when he he like literally almost closes
the door in her face, but then she's like, hey,
like my power's out, Like let me use your phone,
like I just need to call somebody, and he's like okay,
So he lets her in and she calls her booty
call and she's and he's like, hey, the roads are terrible.
I'm not gonna be able to make it out there,
and she's like, well, the power just went out in
(04:30):
the cabin anyways, so like yeah, don't bother, like just
stay home, don't risk it. And so then she hangs up,
and she's like freaking out because like you know, that
was her.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Only plan for the whole weekend, so she.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Doesn't really know what she's gonna do, and Sam is like, well,
do you want me to like look at the fuse
box and see if I can fix it?
Speaker 2 (04:48):
And she's like yeah.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
So they walk next door and Sam is like making
fun of her the entire time, and when they get
to the cabin, he sees the condoms and he's like, oh,
I see what your plans were, and she's like embarrassed,
but she's like, yeah, okay, I was here.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
Fuck.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
And he's like I could help you with that, but
I'm not a nice guy like he was. And she's
like okay, well, can you check the fuse box. So
he goes and he checks the fuse box or whatever,
and he's like I can't fix it, and she's like whatever,
and he's like, you can stay at my place for
the night, like there's a spare room in my cabin,
(05:26):
and so she goes upstairs to get her stuff and
she says, she's like, I have snacks, but in reality
it's like eighty percent lingerie in her back. But like,
you know, if she needs her stuff, and so they
go back to his cabin.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
She gets settled in her little.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Room, but then she's like hungry, so she heads downstairs
and he's cooking steak, and she's like, hey, like can
I have food because like her booty call was supposed
to bring all the dinner foods, like she literally only
brought snacks. And he agrees to cook her a steak
and she's like, I'll help like make a salad, and
there's like a pre bagged salad. She just like puts
(06:00):
it in a bowl and so there you go. They
eat and they're kind of like talking. They talk about
like how she was supposed to be getting railed by
now basically, and eventually she just like looks at him
and she's had like a glass of wine at this point,
and she's like, it's been ten years since I had sex.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Do you want to help me fix that? And he's
like are you drunk?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Because, like you know, they hate each other even though
they're also super attracted to each other because they're both
super hot, so like you know, and so he's like,
I mean yeah, and she's like, yeah, I know what
I want. Like this weekend was supposed to be sexy,
just meaningless sex.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
I'm not picky.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
About like who it's with, like I have.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
An end goal.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
And so he's like, okay, tell me that you're like
attracted to me, and she's like, okay, every time I
bitched at you, it was just so I had an
excuse to.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Look at you because I think you're super hot and.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
I like staring at your arms, like well you work basically,
and so he's like good. So then they fuck and
it's like so worth a ten year wait for her,
and it's also been like five years for him, which
I don't think he mentions at this point.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I think he mentions it later, but.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
It's like, oh my god, they have a great fucking time.
And also she's only had sex like with one other
guy and it was ten years ago and it was
like a super toxic relationship and that kind of like
ruined her life for a bit.
Speaker 2 (07:20):
So like that's we'll.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Get more into the details, but like that's why she's waited.
And so then whatever, the weekend's over. Sam goes back
to his ranch and his brother Chase is there, and
his brother's like, hey, did you get any inspiration while
you were gone? Because his weekend retreat was supposed to
be a chance for him to get like art inspiration
because he's not just a cowboy, he's also an artist.
(07:43):
He makes iron sculptures that are mostly like cows and stuff.
I don't know they sell well, and he hasn't been
super inspired lately because he wants to make deep emotional things,
not just like cows and horses and stuff, but like
the tourist like he makes a lot of money off
the touristy ones. But he's like, I want to be
a real artist. But he basically like he makes enough
(08:07):
money with his sculptures that his family doesn't have to
do like the ferrier stuff anymore. So he's basically just
finishing his contract with Madison's family and then he's just
gonna do art shit basically, And meanwhile Madison is thinking
about Sam and then he like shows up and she's
like what. And he's there to do horse stuff obviously
(08:28):
because it's like it's like two weeks until Christmas. So
he's like, yeah, I'm finishing up all this stuff for
Christmas so I don't have to come back till like
after the holidays. And they end up like flirting and
bantering like they always do, and then Madison's like, let's
fuck right now, and then Sam calls her at tease
because like they're in the middle of the barn and
he's like, girl, you can't just be like saying that shit,
(08:49):
and so she gets really mad about that and she
goes to walk off and he grabs her and she's
like I was being serious, Like I'm down to clown
right now, Like I know that we should end it,
and it was only supposed to be a weekend, but like.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
I want more.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
And then she's like, I think we should have sex
for the next twelve days to get it all out
of our system.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Twelve days still Christmas, twelve days a fuck it, that's
her plan.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
And he's like, okay, Like I'm down, but like I'm
at work right now, and I take a lot of
pride in my work and I'm not trying to bang
at work. And she's like, okay, come to my house tonight,
like and she lives like on her family's property, but
she has her own like little house basically, and she's like,
I'll cook for you, and he's like, girl, this isn't
a date, like we're not dating, and she's like, I know,
but I need She's essentially she's like it can't be
(09:34):
just purely transactional or I'm gonna feel weird about it,
so like she needs to like make him dinner, and
I'm like, so, like it is a date in a way,
like whatever, call it what you want, guys, but we
all know so whatever. She isn't actually even cooking also
because like her family has a housekeeper that like meal
preps for her, so she has a bunch of like
(09:55):
frozen dinner and she's like, I'm just gonna like reheat
meals for you, basically whatever.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
And then when he comes over, she's.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
Like dressed like a housewife because she's like it just
felt it was a vibe and like she.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Just dresses like a housewife. Whatever.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
They eat dinner, and then she tells him about her
relationship ten years ago, and basically she was the other
woman and the guy told her like you know, things
were over with his wife, like once the divorce is finalized,
he's gonna marry her. And Sam's like, well, how old
were you and she was like I was seventeen. He
was forty and like her trainer, which I think it's
(10:33):
like something it's horse training, So I don't know what
kind of horse things he taught. There's like backstory to this,
I think in the like this is the second book
in a series, so I think there's backstory that I
don't have. Anyways, Sam is like, oh, he was in
a position of power and used that to use you,
and she's like yeah. And then when we broke up
and everyone found out, everyone blamed me and I lost
(10:55):
all my friends and you know, it was really shitty
for her. And Sam's like, did like karma get him
at least? And she's like, no, his wife forgave him.
And then he ended up getting a silver Olympic medal.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
That made me laugh so hard.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
I was like, what the fuck.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Because I think he.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
Was like a jockey or something, because there's a joke
about that later where.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
Sam's like, oh, he's not very big and she was like.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
He was a jockey, so he was a shorter guy. Yes, anyways,
so that's sad. And then Sam is like, well, I
hope I'm a better late than.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Him, and I'm gonna prove that I'm better than him
in every way.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
So they go upstairs and they banging him. The next day,
she meets her siblings at a coffee shop.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I think she has like three siblings. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
They got to talk about the big family Christmas party
because she's from like her family's like rich as fuck,
Like they got a lot of money and they got
a big family Christmas party.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
I don't know, And this year they learned that.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Their dad had fathered a bastard child like thirty years ago.
So they have like a new half sibling and they're like,
do we invite the half sibling and his family to
the Christmas party?
Speaker 2 (12:02):
Is that weird? Are we gonna be weird about that?
Speaker 1 (12:05):
They all decide they don't think it's weird, and they're
gonna invite him. This really doesn't matter to the story
at all, but whatever. Madison is not paying a lot
of attention because she's thinking about how hot Sam is,
and one of her brother notices that she's distracted. So
after the other siblings leave, there like talking and he's
like what's wrong and she's like, oh, nothing, just like
(12:26):
you know, holidays, I'm single, you know how that is,
and he like comforts her.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Whatever.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
They leave, She's like walking around town and goes into
a store and Sam is there and like he's like
talking to the store owner and she just like walks
up to him and is like, what are you doing here?
It's so weird? And he's like shopping like what, Like
she makes it so awkward for no reason, and the
store owner's just staring at them and is like, how
(12:53):
do you guys know each other?
Speaker 2 (12:54):
And Madison is.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Like, oh, I don't eat met and Sam is like
I work for her dad because he does, like it
makes sense that they know each other, Like she's just
fucking weird. And so then they leave and Sam is like,
do you like that want people to know about us, like.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Or even that we know each other? Like what?
Speaker 1 (13:12):
And Madison like is like ideally not because this isn't
a relationship.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
So I don't really.
Speaker 1 (13:18):
Think anyone needs to know because you're not gonna fix me,
so like, don't even try. And I'm like, girl, what
he doesn't want to be in a relationship, You're fine,
okay whatever. So she like goes to leave and is
like you're still coming over tonight and he's like yeah,
I am, and so then it's like they have eleven
(13:38):
days left and then it's like seven days later, I
don't know, it's like seven days into the affair.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
So like six days later whatever.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Maddie calls Sam and she's like, Hey, one of the
horses is walking weird. Can you come look at it?
So he comes over and he's like, the.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Horse is fine. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
So then they start talking about their dads and she's
like really bitter because she can never please her dad
because after the.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
Whole like affair thing, you know.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
And Sam is like, what the fuck, Like you do
so much for your family, Like you like work here,
you bring us so much business, Like what the fuck
could he be ashamed of? Like you do a lot,
and she's like, I don't know. The thing from ten
years ago, the day that he found out about my
affair was also the day that we found out about
his secret affair son, And like I expected him to
(14:25):
be upset, but like not at me, since you know,
she was groomed by this older man. But her dad
basically told her the worst thing that you can do
is get caught, and essentially she ruined the other guy.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
His name's David.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
She ruined this David guy's reputation that he had built
up for so long since he's like an old man,
and that essentially, if she was gonna be that kind
of woman, she needs to learn how to not get
caught because now everyone knows and like, yeah, her Dutch
just sucks ass. Basically and so Sam is like pissed
about this, and he's like, girl, you were used, Like
(15:00):
he was in a position of power and he used you,
and like, I'm so sorry that everyone turned on you
like that, because like what the fuck?
Speaker 2 (15:06):
It makes no sense.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
So like he comforts her, she cries in his arms.
It's like this whole moment. She's like, thanks for listening.
No one has ever listened without judging me before. And
he's like, yeah, do you want me to come over tonight?
And she's like, she's like, can I come to your studio?
Like I want to see where you make art, you know,
even though we're a no strings attached relationship, let's do
(15:29):
more emotional things. And he's like, oh, you want to
see the forge, like where I do my art, And
she's like yeah, I think it'll help me understand you better,
Like what and I want to see your pretty art
And he's like, i'll show you the art if you
don't call it pretty because he's a masculine man and
he doesn't make pretty art, Okay. So she goes to
(15:50):
his place that night and he gives her like a
tour of the ranch and then they end up in
his studio where he doesn't let anyone go, but he's like,
I'm letting her in what And then like he shows
her all his like works in progress, which are just
like giant cows and horses like to scale, like to
scale horses.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Just wait, and she.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
She's like, oh my god, they're all so great, like
we need some at my farm, Like, oh my god.
And she can tell her he's like not enthusiastic about it,
and he's just like, yeah, you know, they sell, the
tourists love them. I make a lot of money, but like,
I don't think that's really what I want to make.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
And then she just starts like.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Stripping in the middle of the place, and he's like
in his mind, he's.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Like I don't. I don't want her to, like I
don't think we should fuck here, like this is my
art space.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
But then she like takes her top off and he's like, oh,
take your pants off, and so then they end up
banging with her pressed up against the horse statue, which
I'm like, I guess the horse's butt or like the.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
Side, like I don't whatever.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
So then they end up back in his little cabin
and she's like looking around and snooping as you do
and then they end up fucking in front of the
fireplace whatever, but it's like supersensual, and at the end
of it, she's like I'm.
Speaker 2 (17:11):
In love with him. So they're laying there and she's.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
Like, why do you make farm animal art if you
don't like want to? And he's like, I don't know,
like I don't think people would buy what I actually
want to make because it's like emotional, and he's like,
when I was younger, my dad would have hated me
being an artist, and like I would have like I
would have worked on that relationship with him, but then
he died, so like I didn't get to, so now
(17:37):
I feel guilty about my art. And she's like, okay,
but like what's holding you back now, like you know?
And he's like, well, he's like I was never in
a one night stance like my brother, Like, but one
day I was doing a delivery and I bought this
girl and she was like the daughter of a rancher,
and we started going out and everything was like great,
(17:58):
and we kept it really low key and like didn't
your families, which like was fine, but then she like
stopped talking to me one day and I figured it
was like over so I stopped talking to her, and
then a few months later I got a call from
a hospital.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
This isn't funny, but it's like so dumb and that.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
So she was asking for him aout the hospital, right,
and like things weren't looking good because turns out she
was pregnant and it was an ectopic pregnancy, but she
didn't realize and it was until it was too late.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
So then she died and so Sam like got to.
Speaker 1 (18:28):
The hospital too late to like see like know what
she wanted to tell him. But he gets to the
hospital and her family's there, and then he's like everyone
knew it was my fault. And I'm like, girl, what, like, yeah,
you got her pregnant, but like you know, shit happens,
and so she's like, okay, that's terrible, Like I'm really sorry,
but how is that your fault? Like that is not
(18:50):
your fault, and he's like, it is my fault. We
had sex one time without a condom because I was careless,
and then she ended up dying and she's like, Okay,
you can't like blame yourself for that though, and he's like,
as if, don't you blame yourself for what happened to you,
and she's like no, like, I mean, yeah, I had
a part in it and everything, but like you said,
(19:11):
he was in a position of power and used me,
but like everyone should have had my back and like
they turn on me instead, like it was a shitty situation,
but like it's not purely my fault, and so he
can't believe that she doesn't like blame herself, and she's like, well,
it's also been like ten years, so like, yeah, I've
worked through it and I'm trying to change, Like once
we're done with each other, I will have changed.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Aren't you trying to change and grow?
Speaker 1 (19:35):
And he's like no, and she's like you can't keep
going on like this. You can't just like hold on
to all this guilt like it wasn't even your fault.
And he's just like watch me, cause he's like I'm
more to blame than anyone else, and because of that,
I shouldn't be allowed.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
To grieve like they do, and like you can either leave.
Speaker 1 (19:54):
Or we can go to bed and talk this out.
Like this wold made no sense to me because then
it's like they go to bed and then it's just
like the next morning, like we don't get any more
of what the fuck they talk about, because like she
just follows him to bed, and then in the morning,
she's just thinking about what they talked about. We don't
get to know, like I don't know, and she's like
(20:17):
thinking about She's like, I've changed a lot over these
past eight days.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
I want him to change too. So she like.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
Kisses him awake, and she's like, I want you to
come with me to the family Christmas party, like as
my date, even though it's like after the twelve days,
and she's like I want more from you, Like twelve
days is not enough, Like I want a real relationship.
And he's like, girl, you knew the deal walking into
this just because like you've changed doesn't mean I have to.
I don't want a relationship that's not you know, and
(20:44):
like they argue, but he's like, nope, you know. I'm
glad you got over your issues. All I did was
listen to you talk though, like we don't even know
each other. It's been like ten days, and she's like,
don't reduce us to nothing. There's something here, but he's
like nope, he just she just like gathers her clothes
and leaves while crying, and naturally he spends the next
(21:07):
few days drinking and being miserable, so his brother finds
him drunk one day and Sam starts ranting about how
he hates having emotions, and his brother Chases, like, yeah,
that's dad's fault. He was a dick, but like this
isn't about dad though, Like this about a woman, isn't it.
And Sam starts talking about how he's not allowed to
(21:28):
grieve their parents' deaths because like their mom died, do
their little orphan boys well whatever? And Chase is like what, Like,
of course you're allowed to grieve our parents' deaths, like
everyone grieves in their own way, but like you don't
have to hold it in just to like be strong,
because he's like I'm the older brother, like I'm not
allowed to, you know, cry like you are, but I'm not.
And Chase's like, no, what the fuck? And then Sam
(21:51):
is like I had a girlfriend who died because she
had an ectopic pregnancy, and it's all my fault. And
I don't know what to do with all these feelings
and I want to make art but I don't know how,
and Cha says like WHOA, Like I'm sorry to hear that,
Like that's crazy, but you're scared of your emotions and
like letting that fear control you. And Sam is like
mystified by this. He's like what, I didn't even think about,
(22:15):
like fear what? And then he's like, oh my god,
maybe feelings and like facing my fear are worth it,
because then I'd be able.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
To keep Maddie.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
So then he's like, I'm gonna face my feelings and
make art that I want to make, like this was
so stupid whatever. Meanwhile, Maddie is standing outside her family
like Christmas party in a lacey yellow dress. It looks
like sunlight on snow. They make a point of saying,
and I'm like, okay, I guess it's very specific.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
It's blinding.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
You can't even look at this girl.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
But she's sad. She's blindingly sad.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
And her brother comes over to comfort her, and she's like, yeah,
it's about a boy.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
And he's like, hey, like.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
I'm sure he'll come to his senses, but if he doesn't,
like I'll go beat him up for you. And she
laughs and then he like leaves out there to keep
he leaves her out there, She keeps h moping and
then Sam shows up. Oh my god, and he's in
a tux that he bought just for the occasion, and
he's like, I'm bad at feelings, but I have them
for you. And I was scared of my past, but
(23:21):
I decided that you're worth the risk. And she's like,
you don't even have to finish because I get it
and I love you and I'm so certain about all
of this that I will take the risk. And I'm like, girl,
let him speak what? So they kiss and then he
like shows her his sketch book, which you know as
an artist that's like.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Oh my god, bearing your soul.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
And he's like, this is me and she looks through
it and she sees all the like horses and stuff.
But then at the end there's like new stuff and
I have no idea what the fuck this looks like
because it's like it shows emotions and it portrays how
grief turns into love and it's soft and curvy like her.
And I'm like, what's she like? Is it just like
(24:01):
amorphous blob? Like I don't she gets it? I don't
she gets it.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
So they're together.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Now and they go inside to play games with her family.
The end, Wow, I know, Okay, So now I'm gonna
tell you about black Tie Billionaire, a completely different story.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
There's just one eighty this shit.
Speaker 1 (24:24):
I probably should have put the reviews and then I'm
black Tie billionaire, but I didn't think about this, so.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Sorry, guys.
Speaker 1 (24:32):
Okay, here's our completely different story. Yeah, Shay is an
heiress to some old family money. But she's currently in
disguise at some like fancy, fancy mansion dinner. She's doing
a favor for one of her plub friends and covering
for her at this event, so she's like a waitress.
She's wearing a wig, contacts, and glasses so that no
(24:52):
one recognizes her, and she's like walking around with a
champagne tray and some rich dude stops her and he's like, hey,
you're super hot, and she's like, but I'm working, and
like he keeps like.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
He obviously says a lot more to her.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
Than just that, but he's like, I don't know how
no one else is talking to you. You're just like
so beautiful and like show stopping, like what is your name?
And she's like a Camille and he's like, my name
is Gideon, which I was like.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
They picked the worst fucking name.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
This guy is super hot by the way, but his
name is Gideon, and I was like, eh, okay, he's
like this really hot like Asian guy with like really
long hair, and he's like super buff and doll and
shit like gorgeous. He's a Chinese guy actually specifically anyways,
back to this, Gideon is like flirting her up, and
she's like, I gotta get back to work, like I'm
(25:42):
not supposed to talk to guests, I'm a waitress.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
But he like he likes that she talks.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Back to him because no one ever talks back to
him because he's a billionaire.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
So i'mon the nice to him, you know.
Speaker 1 (25:52):
So she walks off and he like also before she
walks off, he does tell her that he wants to
fuck her, but he doesn't do relationship, and she's like okay.
So she goes into the kitchen and he comes in
to apologize for how he told her that he wanted
to fuck her, because like that it's kind of weird.
But then the power goes out and he like grabs
her to comfort her, and she's like fine with it
(26:13):
at this point because she's like the power went out,
it's scary, you know, and like this part confused me
because this is like a full party. It's like a
giant mansion. But like they go in the kitchen and
there's no one there. There's other He has his like
cell phone light, and he like goes to like figure
out what's going on, and she like sits certain waits
and no one else is in this kitchen, and I'm.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Like, weren't they like making food and stuff. Weren't there
other waitresses. Wouldn't people like gather here? Guess not?
Speaker 1 (26:39):
No one ever comes into the kitchen. He comes back
and he's like, hey, the power's out. It should be
fixed in a few hours, but like until then, we're
locked in because this giant mansion house.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
His security goes.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
On lockdown and a power outage and locks all the doors.
Don't question it, Okay, it's a very small part in
the story. So she's like, oh, I wish I had
my phone, but it's in my car. So he brings
a plate of dinner. They start eating and there's like
more flirting, and they end up fucking in this kitchen.
Like I said, no one else comes in.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
Whatever. They wake up in the morning and you know whatever. Anyways,
at this point.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Also before they fuck, she knows who he is, and
he is like her brother's rival, but she is like
he's hot. He doesn't know who I am, so like whatever,
one night's stand. They fuck in the morning, the power
is back on. She's gone, and he wakes up and
is like what and like his mom's calling, so she's
like he's like, oh, mom, Hello. He learns that his sister,
(27:35):
her name's Olivia, she's in a mental hospital because she
just found out that her ex boyfriend just got engaged
and she like cannot take it. Because Olivia used to
date this guy, Trevor, and they were like he dated
her until they fell in love and then he broke
up with her and then because he basically wanted to
break her art to get it Gideon, It's like this weird,
(27:58):
convoluted plan to fuck with them. It worked, and now
this Trevor guy is engaged to Gideon's ex girlfriend who
Gideon was super in love with, but she was just
with him for his money, so then she was like
cheating on him for like half of their relationship and
like that's why Gideon doesn't date anymore.
Speaker 2 (28:18):
He just fucked because he had his heart broken. Whatever.
Speaker 1 (28:21):
So Gideon, like I said, super hot, So Gideon swears
to get revenge on Trevor for the emotional anguish.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
That he put his sister through. That's you know, his motivation.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
A few days later, Shaye meets with like some businesswoman
because she has like some secret business that she has
on the side, because like she her family has like
a business and her brother is like the leader of
the family business, but like won't let her get into
it because she's a woman, I don't know, And so
she has her own side company that's completely in her
name so that she has like something for her that
(28:55):
he's not part of basically, so she does her business
thing whatever. And then who shows up fucking Gideon, and
he's like, hey, I have a bunch of dirt on
your brother, because her brother has been doing a bunch
of illegal shit and like embezzling, like you know, funding politicians.
Like there's a whole thing because the the Gideon's ex
(29:17):
girlfriend who Trevor is engaged to. Her dad is a senator,
so like Trevor has been funding this senator, Like it's
this whole it doesn't matter anyways, So Gideon has all
this dirt about her brother, and he also knows about
her secret company. And so he's like, hey, if you
don't pretend to date me for the next six months,
(29:39):
I will release all this information to the public and
take your brother to court for all this illegal stuff
and put him in jail. And Madison is like, what
the fuck, like, I don't want to date you, like,
because she's also like, is he gonna recognize that we
fucked a couple days ago, Like now that I don't
have my wig on, it's still me. He doesn't recognize her,
by the way, But she's like, I gotta think about it,
(30:01):
you know, And.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
So she leaves whatever.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
She ends up going to like some gala later because
rich people have galas I guess, and Gideon shows up
and he starts drama with Trevor because of course they
fight on site, but like, Gideon ends up leaving because
Shae's like, don't fight.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
He wants to keep her happy, which I was like,
what okay.
Speaker 1 (30:24):
She ends up meeting with him the next day though,
and she's like, okay, I'll agree to your deal, but
I'm not going to fuck you. And so then he
tells her about how good he is at fucking because
of course, and he's like, you have to pretend that
you're fucking me, and then I'm doing a really good
job at it, and she's like, don't worry about me.
I can act. So the next day, she's helping her
plub friend, the same plub friend. Her name is Beatrice,
(30:45):
and Beatrice has a food truck and like her, one
of her employees like called out, so she calls her
heiress best friend and is like, hey, will you work
my food truck with me? And Shay is like, of
course she's doing that, And then Gideon is like blowing
up her phone because they were supposed to like have
a fake date today, but she was like, I can't,
but linkedn't tell him why he ends up showing up
(31:06):
at this food truck. It has never explained how he
finds her. It's never She's never like how did he
track me down? She's not weirded out by this at all.
I think it's weird because he's like, what the fuck,
why didn't you come to this lunch with me? And
she's like, I have to help my friend out. So
then he just like gets in the food truck and
helps them cook for the rest of the day. He's
(31:27):
like he just like is like what are you making?
And her friend is like, you know, whatever, food and
he just starts cooking it, and I'm like, doesn't he
need a recipe? But okay, don't question it. So he
stays until closing time and then he's like, you have
to come with to dinner with me tonight at seven,
and she's like, okay, I'll go get ready, and then
you know, he picks her up. When they meet up,
she learns that his parents were immigrants from China, and
(31:49):
so he worked as a line chef for like a
lot of years before he started his business and became
a billionaire. So that's why he knows how to cook.
And she's like, oh my god, sorry, I didn't know
all that. Must be like really proud of me. And
he's like, yeah, she is really proud of me, but
she'd also be super proud of me if I'm still
a line chef, because like he's like, I made my
money and she's like old money. So she's like, ohow,
(32:11):
oh my god, you know how to be a club whatever.
So at this point, Shay knows that Gideon used to
be engaged to Trevor's fiance, whose name is Madison.
Speaker 2 (32:23):
Why is there another Madison.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
That's confusing anyways, but like she doesn't know why they
broke up. So they go to this dinner and it's
like it's like the launch of their relationship. There's a
bunch of people that see them together, and so SHA's
like making sure to act like she really likes him,
but also it's like they do like each other.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
There's a lot of sparks.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
So then Madison is there with her dad though, and
Shaye ends up running into Madison at the bathroom and
Madison is like, why didn't you tell me you're dating
my ex? And and she's like, well, I didn't have
a chance. I didn't know you're gonna be here. And
then Madison's like ask him who broke up with who?
Because it's so obvious that he he's just using you to
get back at me, Like so just think about that.
(33:04):
And Shay is like baffled by this and is like,
oh my god, Like what did I just get myself into?
And so like she gets in the car with get
in because they're like leaving now, and he can tell
that she's like upset, So he's like, what, like what happened?
And so she tells him what Madison said outside the bathroom,
and he's like, okay, well she lied, Like let me
tell you.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
What actually happened.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
So they did it for like a while. They were
engaged for a year, and one day he came home
and found her in bed with Trevor, Shay's brother, and
then Madison told him that they'd been sneaking around behind
his back for six months and like, so.
Speaker 2 (33:42):
That's why they broke up.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
And so Shay is like, oh, because she finally she
understands another layer of the layer of this plan where
he's getting back at Trevor, he's getting back at Madison,
like he's using her whatever. She gets the plan a
lot more, but she's like upset and she's like okay,
like that's really fucked up. And he's like okay, what
do you need though, Like I'll change the rules of
(34:04):
our little planned relationship thing if you want, and she's like,
I want you to kiss me and make me forget
about everything that happened. So they end up fucking in
the car because he has a driver, so they're like
in the backseat, which I didn't realize for until he's
like the driver can hear us, And I'm like okay.
So they fuck and immediately after, he's super cold to
(34:25):
her and she doesn't understand why, but she's like sad
about it and whatever. So the next day her brother
is like, what the fuck, why are you dating Gideon?
Why didn't you tell me? And she's like, what's your
beef with him?
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Anyways? Because like, I know you guys went to school together.
I don't get why you hate him, And.
Speaker 1 (34:43):
So Trevor is like, well, after our mom died, dad
was super harsh to me and like really like like
shit on him a whole bunch for not being like
the number one student at his school or number one
at everything, because Gideon went to the same little private
school as them, but like he was on a scholarship
(35:04):
that was funded by their family company, and so their
dad would always shit on Trevor and be like, m
Gideon would be a better son because he's better at school,
and so Trevor hates Gideon just because of his dad
basically and whatever. So Trevor is like, also, I know
about your secret company, and if you don't break up
(35:24):
with Gideon, I'm gonna sabotage your business. And so she's
really pissed about this, and he also is like, I'm
putting you on leaf at the family company until you
like make a decision.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
So she just grabs all her.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Sip and leaves and she ends up staying at her
friend Bridget's house, which is like where Gideon picks her
up for their next date, which is like to go
to the ballet. So she's like dressed up to go
to the fucking ballet. But then he picks her up
and he's like, why are you living here instead of
with your brother and she's like, I just am don't
worry about it, like you don't need to know the details.
And he's like, okay, we're not going to the ballet
(35:58):
because obviously you're upset by some So he takes her
back to his place and he's like, we're you know,
it's a truce. We're just gonna hang and like have
a chill night. We obviously both need it, and he
gives her some of his sister's clothes to wear, and
then like she cooks him dinner and he's like.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Surprised that she knows how to cook.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
And she's like, yeah, my mom was into cooking and
she taught me how to. So then she ends up
wandering around his apartment. I think he like he's doing
the dishes and she just ends up snooping and she
ends up like going in his bedroom and there's guitars
and so he ends up playing guitar for her, and
then you know, they end up fucking and like this
time it's like really sensual and like, oh my god's special.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
And in the morning he goes to work.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
Henny leaves her there and he's like, you know, leave
when you're ready whatever, and she's like cleaning up and
then a woman comes in and she's like who that,
But it's Olivia and she's like, oh, hi, like I'm Shay,
and Olivia realizes that she's Trevor's brother, so she just
freaks out and starts crying, and she comforts her and
is like why are you freaking out?
Speaker 2 (36:59):
What the fuck? Like I know we just met, but
like what's going on? Like I will listen.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
And then Olivia is like, okay, so I used to
date your brother Trevor, and like he made us keep
it a secret, and I thought we were like really
in love because he said we were, and I was
in love with him for sure, but then I got
pregnant and I thought he was gonna be super happy
about it, but he told me to get an abortion
and I refused to get an abortion and he left me, basically,
and then she ended up miscarrying the baby and like
(37:26):
had a mental breakdown basically, and she is like, oh
my god, I'm so sorry and comfort her and then
she's like, oh my god, this is why Gideon really
wanted revenge on Trevor was because of this. And a
couple days later, she goes to dinner with Gideon and
they go say hi to Trevor with Madison and like,
this is Shade's way of saying, like, I'm picking Gideon
(37:48):
over you, and she's at this point she's like, I'm
in love with him, and I'm like, what it's been
like two weeks whatever. Her brother's obviously pissed and is like,
let me talk to you. So she goes to her
brother's office and he's all mad and she's like, no,
fuck you. Gideon has a bunch of dirt on you
and Madison's dad. He has proof of all your fucking
(38:10):
shady investments and he gave me a copy of it.
So if you try to fuck over my company, I'll
fuck you over and release all that information. And she
like gives like shows him that she hasn't, and then
she's like, also, we were fake dating the whole time
because he wanted to revenge on you for the shit
that you did to his sister. And I also know
(38:30):
that you fucked his fiance, so like, you suck as
a person, and I'm done with this shit, and she's
like walks out. Gideon meanwhile, is like getting a drink
and like just like waiting for her to come back.
And Madison comes up to him and she's all, I
can't believe you're doing this just to get back on me,
and he's like I'm not, though, and she keeps like
touching him and being like oh my god, and like
(38:52):
he keeps pulling away, but she ends up kissing him
and he pushes her away, and but Shay's in the
background and like saw it obviously, so she runs away
and so he runs after her. They end up in
the car together and he's like, she kissed me, like
I didn't kiss her, and she's like I know. And
he's like, why are you so upset then, and she's
like I love you and I know you won't love
me back, and he's like.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Girl, we had rules.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
I told you not to fall in love with me,
and she's like, I know, but I did. So she
just goes and side and cries, and a few days later,
he's like at work and he can't focus because he
misses her, and he realizes, like how awesome she was, basically,
and Trevor comes in and he's like, fuck you for
fucking with my sister. And Gideon's like, nah, fuck you. You're
the worst.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
But you know what, I.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Don't even care anymore because I love your sister and
I want her, And so.
Speaker 2 (39:38):
He gives Trevor all the dirt.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
He has on him and he's like, Shae has the
only other copy, you know, And then he leaves to
go find Shay. She's once again working on that food
truck with Bridget, and he's like, please talk to me,
and then he apologizes and he's like, I loved you
this whole time, like when you were Camille, but then
also when you were Shay, because they did they talked
about that.
Speaker 2 (39:59):
I forgot about at that point.
Speaker 1 (40:00):
The reason why he was so cold to her after
he fucked her was he was like, I knew you
were I knew you were Camille, and I thought you.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Were trying to fuck with me and anyways, so he's like.
Speaker 1 (40:11):
I love you and she's like I love you. So
then they kiss and they promised to be together forever.
And then it's a year later and they're married and
her brother's gonna go to jail because all that dirt
came out on its own and he's being prosecuted, and
Olivia and Bridget are business partner.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
Is the end.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
So there's like my fifteen minute.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
That's that book, which was almost longer than the original book.
But whatever, Let's get into reviews only of Hold Me Cowboy.
I don't care about black Tie Billionaire, so this book.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
And actually had quite a few reviews. It got three
point five to eight stars.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
There were no one star reviews, and there was only
one five star review and it was a weird one,
so I did not use it. Anyways, here's the first one.
I love the ending with Sam and Mattie coming together
but also agreeing that love isn't going to turn them
into a unicorns and Rainbow's kind of couple that snark
(41:13):
and sarcasm will always be a part of who they are.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Four stars.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
The only reason I'm giving this a fore is because
twelve Days to Fall in Love is so unrealistic? Or
is it? Four stars?
Speaker 1 (41:28):
That one was like a lot longer, but I was like, ooh,
or is it? I think my only issue with this
book is the abrupt transition from lighthearted to major angst.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
It happened so.
Speaker 1 (41:41):
Quickly that I wasn't emotionally prepared for all the impending angst,
and to be honest, the angst also felt a little
too over dramatic. Three stars, that's my thing. I was like, really,
that's it, okay.
Speaker 3 (41:57):
I like the fact that Yates was dealing with issues
of slut shaving here and that Madison's reaction has deeper
causes than what we first are told, but I didn't
particularly care for the implicit message that a victim of
slutshaming can recover only after finding a man to love her.
Two stars.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
I mean it's a good point, okay. Ugh, I had
no idea I was listening to a harlequin romance.
Speaker 2 (42:27):
Lol.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
Not my kind of book. But it was short and
I survived. Two stars. I like that one because I
was like, yeah, girl, I get it.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (42:39):
I really thought this episode was going to be a
lot longer, but I don't I don't know how many
questions I really have about this one other than I
don't am I the only one that thought that Anks
was so overrated because it's like, Okay, I get the
whole point. I guess is like toxic masculinity and he
has to get over that. So it's like he's scared
to feel his own feelings and he feels like he
(43:01):
caused that girl's death. But also it's like she didn't
tell you. She obviously was like gonna deal with this
by herself.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
It just felt forced.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
Yeah, and yeah, it just felt stupid, and I was like,
that's it, really, I mean, I guess, and then they
just got over it and it was fine, and I
was like, Okay, Ruthie.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Has some things to say.
Speaker 1 (43:25):
I don't know if she just yawned by the mic
so you guys might have heard that, but yeah, I
don't know. And like, also, like, why let's fuck for
twelve days?
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Okay what I guess it.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
I think it was supposed to be like twelve days
before Christmas. It's the twelve days of fucking Christmas, but
like then it's like we only got like three of
them anyways, because then it was like seven days later
and I'm like, might as well commit to it if
you're gonna do it.
Speaker 2 (43:51):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
I guess that's kind of my final thoughts too, is
that this, I mean, it wasn't.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
The worst book.
Speaker 1 (43:59):
It was pretty sure, were like quick to read. Ruthy
didn't like it, and I guess I have to listen
to her. Were any thoughts to add?
Speaker 3 (44:10):
Not really?
Speaker 1 (44:12):
Yeah, I get I get why they added black Tie
Billionaire because it's like this book was not very much
so they needed something to beefit.
Speaker 2 (44:19):
Up a little. But yeah, not the worst whatever.
Speaker 1 (44:25):
