Speaker 1 (00:08):
Welcome to boulevard Beat, a podcast we're life and style intersect.
I'm designer Megan Bloom along with my co hosts, editor CHRISA.
Rossbund and gallery owner Liz Logit. This podcast focuses on
the daily highlights instead of the hustle, interviews with taste makers,
and personal conversations on how to highlight achievable style. You
control one street at a time, boulevard Beat proves the

(00:30):
one you should take.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
So Megan, I thought it would be fun.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
I know, we've talked about different products and what's.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Going on in life and that sort of thing, so we.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Kind of talked about seasonally, just talking about what we
love from products, from life.

Speaker 2 (00:48):
From what we have going on.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
So I'm excited to hear what's on your list and
excited to share mine.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
I love that too, and I mean it's one of
my favorite things too, just seeing what other people love
and why they love it and it makes me want
to try different things too, So excited to share as well.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Okay, so what's first on your list?

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Well, I have to say one of my first ones
is a skincare thing and I bought it like four
years ago and it literally sat in a box for
like three years, and I made the decision at the
New Year this year that I was going to start
using it. And it's the doctor gross face mask. It's
the light therapy, the red and blue light. And I

(01:27):
don't know why it was so intimidating to use, but
I have loved the results. I can tell when I
take days off and don't use it. It's a game
changer for me. And it takes three minutes, and I
think that's what was so intimidating before is I thought
it would take half an hour or something.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
But it's so easy to use. I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
You know. It's interesting with those skincare things that are devices,
you never really know do they work, do they not.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
It's I'm glad to hear that you love that. Y. Yeah,
that's wonderful.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Okay, Well, I'm going to start with one that people
are going to think, well, why did she choose that?

Speaker 2 (01:58):
It's the color green. In this industry, we hear occasionally,
I've been doing this for so long, Oh green is back.
Blue is back.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
It's like, oh my gosh, they never went away. How
can you say they're back? They're literally evergreen. But I
do think it's interesting with the color green that occasionally
it does pop up where there's more merchandise available of it,
and I think that's exciting, so as somebody who's such
a lover of blue, be it in my own home,

(02:30):
what I wear blue sort of my favorite color. But
green is exciting me right now, and all of a sudden,
I'm feeling like there's a new dress I want that's
green and white striped, and I want to wear more green.
And so I don't think green is ever trendee, but
I think that at some points in fashion and in

(02:52):
the home space, there are just more green objects, more
green merchandise available.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
So that's exciting me right now.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Funny sometimes too, with color that you do gravitate towards
certain things, and all of a sudden you're like, wait,
I keep using green in things, or I keep buying things.
It is interesting how you evolve, and all of.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
A sudden true conscious.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
Yes, yeah, I wanted to share.

Speaker 4 (03:14):
One of my favorite things is a habit and I've
gotten a pretty good routine of it, and it's my
Ploate's routine. I absolutely love doing my class. I do it,
try and do it two times a week. I actually
go to a studio and use a reformer, and it's
one of those things that it just moves your body
in such unique ways and stretches yourself and builds some muscle,

(03:37):
which is obviously great as we age. Is something they're
always pushing, but it's it's been a self practice that
I just love. And if somebody hasn't tried a reformer,
I would recommend taking a class. It's it's been something
that I've absolutely loved getting into my routine.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Those reformers are fun, I have to say.

Speaker 3 (03:55):
I think they're intriguing, and I think that for people
who maybe don't love fitness or just want to try
something new, it's a good opportunity to maybe get yourself
out of a Oh I don't like to run, or
I don't like.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
To do this.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
It's just a different thing entirely. It's a different platform.
On another health note, I love to cook. It's one
of my favorite things in the world. And I think
that my parents are wondering how did that happen?

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Because I was such a picky eater as a child.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
But I love mastering different techniques and recently I have
really in the last few years gotten the poached eggs
and there are these all of the different there's the
poached EGGPM and these little silicon cups and a million
ways under the sun that you can do these. But
I had to go the old school way and figure
out how to make those wonderful little pillowy eggs. They're

(04:54):
soft and gooey in the middle without any of the tools.
I've been working on that, and I have to say
I've perfected.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
It in my pan. It's a whole thing getting.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
The right amount of swirl so they just sort of
all come together and make those little forms.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
So that's my health kick thing right now.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
You have the pilates, and I have my coach to
eggs that I've been working on, and I think I
have the technique down.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
I have to say that I love that because I
feel like they are very intimidating and I never really
try and make them either. Do you eat those in
the mornings frequently or.

Speaker 3 (05:28):
Just I would say several times a week. It's not
only on the weekends, but they're certainly easier. I have
more time on the weekends. I guess I'm not maybe
running around like I am on workdays. But yeah, I
for me mastering a cooking skill is something that I
always just try to aspire to because I feel like

(05:51):
I've accomplished something that's awesome.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
Good for you.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Well, I've got one more health thing that I really
have been loving too. I bought a walking pad from
my office. As you know, we spend a lot of
time on our job, just even on our computers and
different meetings, different things, and it's just low speed. I
have a really low speed, so you can still type
and work and do things. But it's amazing what a
difference set does to your just daily step count just

(06:16):
to hit that ten thousand step goals. So I didn't
jump on the bandwagon right away, but it's been something
that I've enjoyed having.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
So are you literally standing up and then you're just
walking while you're yes, hyping, yep, yep, and you're able
to do both?

Speaker 4 (06:32):
Yes, I mean, obviously it's a pretty low speed. I
bought a little easel stand so my computer can stand
up higher, obviously, because counter height isn't even quite the
right height and it just varies. Sometimes I'm just like
sourcing different products and just looking on the internet or
things like that. It's usually something that doesn't take a
ton of focus probably. I mean, you could, or sometimes

(06:54):
I'll hop on when I have a call or something
that I need to be on the phone for a
bit too.

Speaker 5 (06:57):
So it's been fun.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
Well, they always want us to get extras, right, I know, right,
this is a fun one for me.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
I just started listening over the weekend to Shar's memoir.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
It's juicy.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
I'm an audiobook girl, and so I'm about four hours in.
It's fifteen hours, so I have a ways to go.
But I've always i mean, Shares just cool, right, But
I share my birthday with Share, so I've always had
I've always loved that I could say that I shared
my birthday with Share. So I'm learning a lot about her.

(07:35):
And what's interesting was when she was a little.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
Girl, she was really a girly girl.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
And I you know, we think of Share as being
this such a cool figure with their long legs and
barely dressed sometimes at age eighty, with their killer legs
and all of that. But yeah, she really did love
as a child all things that were girly and dresses
and things like that. So it's been fun to learn
about her through her her memory, and I'm excited to

(08:05):
go further. I'm not to the Sunny Years yet.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
So I think those memoirs are so interesting because you
think you know so much about somebody's life that's such
a public figure like that, and it's they're always surprising.
I've just recently listened to a couple of memoirs a
slash year too. Did you listen to the Ena Garden
one When the Luck Happens? I really enjoyed that one too, So.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
I just finished that last week.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
That was the one that I finished before I tapped
into share. That was fascinating too, just to hear people's stories.
And again, it's it's interesting as humans how we interpret
our lives and how we remember what's happened. Not that
we make up history, but everybody remembers history a little differently.

(08:50):
And so you know, I imagine when you're writing a memoir
and putting pen to paper that it's probably fascinating for
the author as well to think about, you know, is
this really how I remember this as a child?

Speaker 2 (09:05):
Is this really what happened?

Speaker 3 (09:06):
Is this how my imagination has retold it over decades?

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Just to go back and reflect on that, for sure,
And I love too that like here you she's been
such a staple in the cooking community and cookbooks and
TV shows forever, it seems like, but she really didn't
get her big break until she was like fifty.

Speaker 5 (09:24):
I think it was something like that.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
That's true. That's true. She was, you know older. Gosh,
it's fifty older? Am I saying that? But yeah, I
mean I think that's exciting. I mean, the story has
been told, you know, while we're talking in that genre
of Martha Stewart. I think she started her business when
she was fifty, so wonderful things can happen later too,

(09:51):
which is interesting from the entrepreneurial angle, because I think
that for some people they may be frightened a little
bit to take that step forward. Not that either of
those women were, but just for the general population to
start a business or try something that's a little risky.
I think, especially when we're young and new graduates and

(10:11):
have just spent all of our parents' money on college,
that there's this pressure, you know, to go work for
somebody and have a quote unquote real job and maybe
hover around that idea of safety. So I think it's
interesting to hear about these women who have tried something
different after a certain level of experience and working for

(10:33):
others and trying something new.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
But I did love that book too. Anybody who's listening
should listen to to that as well.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Well.

Speaker 4 (10:41):
One of my favorite products that I always kind of
have on hand in different types of seasons and things
like that too, is my big Voluspa five Wi candle.
It's those the big huge candle that just it lights
for hours. I love the ambiance that it gives to
a space. I always usually have like the ever green
one in the Christmas season on my kitchen island and

(11:03):
it just sets the house in that scent. But right
now I have it in my living room and it's
just a pretty gilted one and it just I love
what it does for the space. It's a it's a
favorite product for sure.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
What kind of scent is it?

Speaker 5 (11:15):
This one's the pomodor, so it's just fresh and simple.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
Well.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
And what I love about those big giant candles, I
mean they last forever, they do, yes, And especially it's
funny that you mentioned the holiday scent because when you
buy the big version of that at the holidays, it
really will last you a few years if you only
have it out during that time.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
Yeah, I was on year two this year and I
didn't finish it either, so we'll get a third going
into a third year this year too.

Speaker 3 (11:42):
A candle is always a nice product, I think, and
their candles come in such beautiful ceramics and glass too,
So that's a good one. My next one, I do
love spring cleaning. It's that spring fever thing that we
have from living in the Midwest, I suppose, but opening

(12:05):
the windows, fresh air, new.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Sheets on the bed.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
I recently got a new set of sheets, and I.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
Just, you know, I was sort of saving it.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
It's like, when I can open the windows and just
have that fresh air, that's when I'm going to start
using them. And so it's really been They're matuque and
they're just white, clean, fresh and wonderful. And you know,
there's nothing better than to get into just a beautiful bed.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
I mean, we all have to sleep.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
We spend a third of our life, I think they
say sleeping, So you know, having that luxurious experience every
time you get into bed each night is really wonderful.
So I'm just going to say the whole idea of
spring cleaning.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
And you know, I know that.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
After a new year, we always talk about organizing. At
that time, but it's the spring cleaning that sort of
gets to me more. That's when I can really get
rid of stuff and tackle all air of the house
and take things away when it's not windy and below zero.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
So it's funny too because I've been in the mood
for that too. I don't know what it is about
the time of year that you just kind of just
want to take everything out and have a rehaul of it.

Speaker 5 (13:12):
It just I've had the itch as well.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
I was cleaning out my jewelry drawers and I haven't
done that in years over the weekend, and it just
felt so rewarding to get it done and have it
looking all tidy and I can see everything again.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
It's fun Well, it's hard to do that after the
New year sometimes too, like you're just Christmas can suck
the life out of all of us. I think the.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Holidays and the events that accompany that time of the year,
and sometimes it could just be difficult. You're trying to
put all of the Christmas stuff away, and then you're
also trying to reorganize your house to satisfy some New
Year's resolution that may or may not be successful.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
So I think spring is sort of a better.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
Time for me anyway to tackle all of those tasks
that you want to do. And it's so uplifting to
get rid of things. And you've inspired me with a
jewelry drawer because I feel like I've just been simplifying
my stash, my inventory, and some stuff needs to go away.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Well that's exactly what happened too. Yeah, you hang on
to stuff and you're like, I haven't worn this in years.
Why am I hanging on to it if it's not valuable?

Speaker 5 (14:16):
For sure? Well, I have to share one thing that
I was gifted this.

Speaker 4 (14:20):
Actually for my birthday last year, and I absolutely loved
it and I've kind of been gifting it out as well.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
Balsamic vinegar from Flamingo Estate.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
If you've not heard of that brand or ever tried it,
it is worth it. It is so delicious on your
tomatoes and basils as we go into this summer season soon.
It's just thick, it's full bodied, and it just is
silky and smooth, and I absolutely love it.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
It's so yummy.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
Well, and I love that you said that you were
gifted this balsamic vinagarette and then now you've been gifting it.
I think that it's so much fun when you perceived
something that you love to then share it with other people.
And it's hard to think of gifts sometimes, so sometimes
when you've been gifted something that you really love, it's like, oh,
this is what I'm going to give now.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
And it was one of those things that I probably
wouldn't have ever bought this, so again like it was
a perfect gift because I wouldn't have bought it. So
that's why I've been sharing it too well.

Speaker 3 (15:15):
And that's what's interesting. I think with all of those wonderful,
little fancy food items, they're not necessarily things that you
would pick up for yourself, and so you don't have
any gauge as to how they taste or what the
quality is or anything of that nature. So that whole
market is really about gifting because you don't know until

(15:36):
you've received it or tasted it elsewhere.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
So that's what's good about getting those as a gift.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
I think Chris so one of my favorite things. And
this might go without saying, but it's just the longer
days that we have now. I love seeing the daylight
longer into the evening and just being more productive in
the evenings with family, time outside. One of my favorite
habits is to be on our screen port. We spend
so much time out there in the warmer seasons, and

(16:04):
just being able to even eat out there. It's just
interesting how your habits all change with a little more
sunlight into the day.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
Isn't that the truth? After winter?

Speaker 3 (16:14):
And we didn't even have a bad winter this year,
I know, but I think after that was over.

Speaker 6 (16:19):
Yes, just approaching a new.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
Season, you're ready. You're ready for warmth and to maybe
you know, have a separation, a formal separation with you
and your outer wear, the big heavy coats that we
are required to dawn here in this part of the country.
So longer days are great, and I just think getting
that vitamin D that you know, my doctor says I

(16:43):
need more of. Yes, it's like, okay, now that there
are more daylight hours, I can do that.

Speaker 6 (16:48):
But I do run out of time.

Speaker 5 (16:50):
Well, and we often too.

Speaker 4 (16:51):
Well, even just after dinner, just go outside and do
a little quick half hour loop round to the neighborhood
on our scooters or bikes and just a few more
steps in two which is great.

Speaker 6 (17:01):
That's true.

Speaker 3 (17:02):
It just I don't know, there's nothing better than warm
air I think, yes, just getting out, but longer days
are great. Yes, you can spend more time outside, which
is always enjoyable. Well, Megan, speaking of spending time outside,
I know one of the biggest pleasures of warming up
slightly is the ability to eat outdoors. And I know

(17:25):
that's where I would prefer to eat every day.

Speaker 6 (17:28):
If I could, is outside.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
It's just there's something about the dining el fresco that's
so lovely. And so for my next favorite thing, I
am going to go to tabletop, which is something that
I know that we both enjoy so much, and I'm
going to give a shout out. These are not new,
the Richard Janoi Oriente Italiano pattern that is so highly coveted,

(17:56):
and you know it's sort of renowned for all of
the wonderful color or combinations that it comes in. But
two of the latest colors have been neutrals, and there's
something so elegant about them. So there's this wonderful dark
ivory that it comes in now and also this chocolate

(18:16):
cover and I think I'm not getting both, but one
or the other is going to make it into my
party closet for sure. They're so beautiful and that pattern
is so lovely, and it's not necessarily outdoor friendly people
who are listening. It is porcelain. You have to be careful.

(18:38):
If it falls, it's going to break. But I'm not opposed, however,
to taking the good dishes outside. I think you just
have to be mindful and be careful with them, no
differently than you do indoors. So as long as it's
not super windy, take those beautiful plates outside. But I
do love that pattern in the new color way that's

(18:58):
sort of divorced itself from any sort of bold color
and gone to these neutrals.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
It's super special.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
And on that note, I love this emphasis now or
this movement toward sort of more of the Italian sorts
of patterns when it comes to dinnerware.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
A lot of.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
Fiory where is on tables right now, and I think
that speaks a little bit to all of those wonderful
hand blocked Indian table linens that we've seen in recent years,
and those deliver so much wonderfully intense coloration, but at

(19:37):
the same time they have a.

Speaker 6 (19:38):
Bit of a casual flare to them.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
They're not like fine linen embroidered sorts of table linens
that you would use with a more fine porcelain and
more formal porcelain. So I like that the Italian dinnerware
has become very much of the moment and it's just
a little chunkier and it's the way it's finished.

Speaker 6 (20:04):
It's not dainty so much, and I love that well.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
And I think you know, you don't always think of
the neutral table where being what your go to is,
but it does allow for flexibility to add the color
in different things with your linens or your different black
print patterns as a tablecloth and things like that too.
It still allows some variation and creativity and what you're
pulling together to which I love well.

Speaker 7 (20:25):
I think when you have a neutral table, what it
forces you to do is really really consider what the
centerpiece when you're talking about the overall table skate, because
then you think, okay, well, what is the best way
to bring in color, probably.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
With flowers or a live element of some sort, and
so you maybe focus on that more than when you
have all the color in the dinnerware and the table linens,
when maybe you just say, oh, well white will do
or the matching color will do. And when you have neutral,
it gives you so many options to go super contrasting
and be really dramatic or something that's just more elegant

(21:03):
and of the same color.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
Well, Christy, you know you mentioned about dining al fresco,
which I absolutely love too. And I've had a little
upgrade in some of my cooking pans, which I've loved
and I've been using for a couple months now and
really love them. And I switched to the Caraway pans,
which are those no harmful ceramic, non toxic pans, and
I have loved them.

Speaker 5 (21:23):
You feel like it is clean.

Speaker 4 (21:24):
You don't feel like you're getting any residue on your
coming from your pan. And I have been so pleasantly
surprised and you.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
Just go down that keeping your pan that you've had forever.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
It's probably I got them when I was married, which
was fifteen years ago, and so it was it was
time for an update.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
Well, you have to have dinnerware that you love. There's
this meme that occasionally lands on my Instagram and it
says something like, you know you're old when you have
a favorite burner on your Snoway have a favorite spatela
and I know that feeling.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
It's like, oh no, where's this spatula I want to use.

Speaker 3 (21:59):
I have a fas batchela, and I do have a
favorite pan.

Speaker 6 (22:02):
I understand the sentiment for.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
Sure, but I think that's funny too because I'm the
same way with the Bernard's, like, oh, I do always
use the front left one.

Speaker 3 (22:10):
You do have your favorites. I guess that's what adulting is. Well,
another one of mine, and this is to take a
departure from entertaining in the kitchen a little bit. But
I've noticed that there is an uptick in people wanting
to dress up. And I don't know if this is
you know, the aftermath of a pandemic and a wide

(22:34):
range of options of ath leisure ware that we all have,
you know, flooding.

Speaker 6 (22:39):
Our closets because it's so darn comfortable.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
But I have noticed, just at events in the office,
walking around, there's just an uptick in people sort of
going back old school and wanting to not necessarily dress
up formally, but just you know, get out of that
ath leisure ware. And I think that people maybe are
I don't want to say they're tired of stretchy clothes.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
I think I don't know that.

Speaker 5 (23:05):
We're going to get every tired that I'm.

Speaker 6 (23:07):
Tired of the stretchy clothes.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
It is so comfortable, but maybe it's like, Okay, maybe
we need to elevate ourselves a little bit. So I've
read and this may not be popular among people who
are listening, but I've read that they're and I've seen it.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
Not only have I read it, I've seen it. The
suit is coming back for women.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Maybe it went away for a while because we have
the option of wearing all of these beautiful dresses and
the long tear dresses with all of the pretty patterns
and colors, but maybe for a little more of a
streamlined look, and suits are coming back. Whether I love
a good suit, I have to say I love a blaser.

(23:46):
I love the matching set sort of situation. So I'm
all in for that. Maybe not in such serious colors
if we're not going to trial. Maybe in a fun color,
a bright red or a blush pink, or all of
the colors except maybe blue and black, right.

Speaker 5 (24:03):
Right, Maybe not as traditional.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
I agree with that, and I have I mean, I
love baring my blazer, but I don't often wear pants
with it, or matching pants to the suits. What I'll
be interesting to see, I agree I feel like I
have seen that uptick as well, and I think partly
don't you feel like when you get dressed well, you
feel better in the day, I feel like I'm more
productive and all those things that go along with it too.
So there's definitely some science behind that too.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Absolutely, I think you stand up straight or your posture
is better, and you just you feel a little bit
more powerful, productive, and that does matter as you go
about your day. So definitely, I mean, we all feel better.

Speaker 6 (24:40):
Right when we look good, and it.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Really maybe I don't know all of the ath leisure
were sets, though they are so good.

Speaker 5 (24:49):
They are good.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
We all have our favorites, yes we do.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
I have a favorite one of those too, right up
there with my Satela.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
I love the Spinx ones. I think they are so
soft and just so their loungewear is just those comfortable
to be in. Chris, one of my favorite things that
I have really been loving in this phase of life
right now is I'm getting to do a little creative
time on my own, which isn't just for client work.
It's so often you as a designer, you get so
wrapped in all your projects and what's going on that

(25:18):
your stuff gets put on the back burner, or you
do it when you can, or you just get home
and you don't have the creative energy in you to
like be thinking about things too.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
So I've been working a little bit more on our.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Poolhouse that we built and just pulling together how that's
all going to look. And I've really had fun, and
partly because it's a little bit of a challenge. My
husband's a hunter, and I've never been one that's really
allowed any of his animal heads to go into our
home except for at Christmas time I do over the
fireplace for that Ralph Lauren Christmas wreath look. But anyway,

(25:49):
this space is intended to allow him to kind of
have all of his animal heads hung up there too.
So it's a balance of still having it be true
to me as well as you know, a pool sort
of fun, beachy vibe, but then kind of throwing in
some of those animals too. So it's been, like I said,
a challenge, but I'm getting it to work with just

(26:10):
kind of a little bit of a European elegance of
just having those different gilded mirrors and different things. So
the mix of these animals, but done in a really
upscaled way. So I'm excited how it's turning out and
getting to share more of that soon with everybody.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Well, I can't wait to see it. And I've seen
the exterior poolhouse, so I can't wait to see when
you put your design magic into it. What that what
that looks like in the end, I will say with
the taxidermy, you know, as a girl, I hunting is
not something that I am interested in. But every man

(26:46):
in my life is interested in hunting, So I am
familiar with this as you are. And I will say
a little goes a long way with those animals, but
I do love when it's on display. It really is
about respect for that animal, because anybody who is a hunter,
it's really a sport about respect.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
And so I can at least appreciate.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
The sentiment of those trophies being on display because anybody
who I know who is a hunter, and I think
this goes all across that particular sport and hobby, is
that there is such respect for that animal.

Speaker 4 (27:21):
That is such a good point to bring up and
very true. I would agree that my husband's integrity of
how he hunts and things like that goes along with
that too.

Speaker 6 (27:29):
And good for you for having rules about it.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
I know, right, it's not about just getting the animal.

Speaker 4 (27:34):
It's, yes, the art of it and the actual sport
of hunting for it. So that brings me to actually
at one point on it too, I really want a
peacock kind of going over the door and kind of
fanning out over the door. And he's fighting me on
it because he only wants animals that he.

Speaker 5 (27:52):
Has has gotten himself.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
And so I need to find a way to find
a peacock out in the wild that he can get.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Or you can go to my parents' house because I
do believe there are some floating around in their backyard.

Speaker 6 (28:05):
Are there? Really?

Speaker 5 (28:06):
I might kick you up on that one. Maybe I
will have an animal that I have gotten in it.

Speaker 6 (28:11):
There you go, there you go.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
Yes, And this is just sort of a fun one.
When we talked about our favorite things that I wanted
to mention, it seems that there's sort of a fruit
of the year always, And you know, I know, a
couple of years ago we saw all of the lemons
that were significant. I think of the Almafi Coast and
Sicily and White Loadus season two. I think that a

(28:34):
lot of that had to do with that show, and
we saw lemons all the time. And this year the
fruit is strawberries. There's strawberries everywhere. There's strawberries and apparel
and wonderful little plates that I'll probably.

Speaker 6 (28:47):
Go by too, even though I don't need more plates.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
Strawberries everywhere, and I think it's so much fun, and
it just I can out eat strawberries more than anybody.
Like on the fourth of July, you know, they have
that competition Coney Island with Nathan's hot Dogs, and they
have that hot dog eating competition.

Speaker 6 (29:04):
And the winner eats like, I don't know, like one
hundred hot dogs, right, I can't even eat one.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
I can eat so many pounds of strawberries in one sitting.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
It is ridiculous.

Speaker 3 (29:14):
And I've loved them so much ever since I was
a small child, and my grandfather would tease me that
if I kept eating then I would turn into a strawberry.
So it's just sort of like this fun, little silly
goofy lace that I hold near and dear in my heart.

Speaker 6 (29:31):
But I love all of the strawberry things.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
And I bought a little summer top that has strawberries
on it, and I'm not getting too much into it.
My house is not going to be full of strawberry
strawberry land, not ones that aren't really Yes, it's not
going to beat strawberry lands. However, I probably will buy
some plates. I bought a top. And this is so silly,
but I bought a strawberry kitchen timer.

Speaker 6 (29:56):
It's in the shape. Oh true, it's cute. You know.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
It'll last a couple of years and then it will
break and then I'll just go back to my regular
white timer with little black numbers on it. That is
not significant of any kind of design. It's just a timer.
But for now, I love my little strawberry timer. I
don't even know if it's super accurate. We'll figure that
out when I try.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
To bake something. That's when it will tell me how
accurate it is.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
But I needed a little strawberry thing in my kitchen,
so that's what I got. Well.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Strawberries are popular in our household too, I mean both
with the consumption and just having them all of the time.
One of my favorite things about, you know, these summer
months too, is when the strawberries are fresh. My kids
always go and pick strawberries with my parents and make
homemade strawberry jam that lasts ys all year long. Lily
just eats so much of it it's insane. So we

(30:45):
are here for the strawberries too.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
They're just a sweet form.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
I mean they're well, sometimes they're not sweet, sometimes saberry
tart and you I've got to add some sugar.

Speaker 6 (30:52):
But they're just a sweet little form. I think.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
Well, I had so much fun hearing about some of
your favorite things and just sharing what's in the season
right now and what's going on.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Great, Well, we will do this again, maybe at the
turn of another season.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
We should. I would love that.
