Speaker 4 (00:53):
How much did you love that weekend? What was the
best part of your weekend with the Cowboy Breilan Edwards Show.
KG is with us, Ryan is with us. Glad you
are with us on this Monday afternoon edition of the
Raylan Edwards Show here on Woodward Sports. It's a different
look for you, but when you can pull off with these.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
I appreciate that, man, you know, I appreciate you. Conley,
you got my Cowboys look going on. And it's not
because the Dallas Cowboys drew the Green Bay Package to
a tie last night. Has nothing to do with those guys.
It's because I was in an arbor this past weekend.
I know you're saying the Michigan didn't play. You're absolutely correct,
But Brian, last night, Zach Bryan and John Mayor put

(01:33):
on a concert that was amazing, SHEP, and they broke
the United States record for most attendees at records. They
broke it, I want to say, like one hundred twelve thousand.
So it was fun, you know, operating there. You go
appreciate you, Ryan wo there you go, one hundred and
twelve thousand, four hundred and eight and SHEP. I've been
to the Big House a lot of times. I've been

(01:54):
in there a lot of one hundred thousand crowds. I've
been in something that broke the records, like Ohio State
in two thousand three. I was there in twenty fifteen
when Notre Dame and Michigan broke the record.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
But seeing that many.

Speaker 5 (02:05):
People on the field and in the stands and the noise,
they told me it was wine and cheese crowd when
not that past Saturday.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
It was a lot of fun, black and energy.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Do you notice the crowd when you played? Did you
notice how many? I didn't. I didn't think so.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
I mean you would notice it on certainly with the
defenses on the field. Maybe you notice it a little bit,
uh after a big play, like one of those plays
against one of those rivals, you know, like when Shoelace
takes off for ninety yards against Notre Dame, or you
know Mario Manningham he catches the slant route against Penn
State to win the game, last play game. You know,
it's one hundred plus thousand, But on average, I was

(02:42):
just place of business?

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Was there was there an uneasy feeling from you when
you were in that crowd because I was a person? Right?

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Say?

Speaker 6 (02:49):
What person?

Speaker 7 (02:53):
That?

Speaker 6 (02:54):
Because I was one of six black people?

Speaker 4 (02:56):
No? Yes, No, when you're you said, because there's so
many people in the standars on the field, yes, I
would guess you're looking around and you're like, oh my goodness,
I mean one hundred and twelve thousand, how do you
get the hell out of there?

Speaker 1 (03:11):
Now?

Speaker 5 (03:11):
You know, you know, Shinbucker is not Shimbucker, but you know,
and I was one way in one way out house.
It was I didn't even think like that. Everybody was
vibe and it was super cool. It wasn't anything crazy.
But although there was a lot of crazy this week
unfortunately this past weekend, it was super cool and the
coolest thing about it was I got a chance to
meet the guy Rich who's ahead of aeg AG put

(03:31):
the concert on.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
Shout to AG.

Speaker 5 (03:33):
Sitting talking with him, he said, the reason why there's
never been concerts at ann Arbor with the Big House
is because obviously it's one way in. It's the tunnel.
Nobody just ever measured the dimensions, said, Nobody really came
to the people of Michigan said hey, look we measured,
we can get it in. And also the record had
to be broken. That was the deal that the people
are big at Michigan said, so.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
The only way they were going to have that concert
is if they could break the record.

Speaker 6 (03:57):
Is if they could break the record.

Speaker 5 (03:59):
And they said, based on what our early ticket sales are,
will break the record. Not a problem to guarantee it.
And then they let them measure. They measured.

Speaker 6 (04:05):
It was fine.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
I will say this, if you're going to see more
concerts at the Big House, it has to be like
Zach Bryant's production, like it wasn't a lot of production, Like,
it wasn't a lot to bring in in terms of
staging and topirol technics.

Speaker 6 (04:18):
And extra things and building it upwards.

Speaker 5 (04:21):
Because it's not in space through the tunnel, you gotta
make sure it's just kind of chill. He had four pillars,
he had a little bit of room kept it open.
On the three sixty stage, it was a lot easier.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
You have to keep it open just because there's people
all around. You can't have it at one end and
then everybody in front of you, right, so it has
to be opened, don't you think?

Speaker 6 (04:38):
True? What they said it with John Mayor.

Speaker 5 (04:40):
John Mayor played to the home team side, so like
his kind of was set up facing you know, the
home side. University of Michigan infected Section twenty three. It's
looking at them. However, Zach Bryant his was on three sixty.
He performed in all four spots. He's standing over here.
He came over here. We do have a video, he said, oh,
we do have a big actually got the opening and

(05:00):
you'll notice the jersey too.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
He played in and go ahead follow He's so mighty.

Speaker 5 (05:15):
At the end of the day, you see the crowd,
it was electric.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
It was a lot of fun group, a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
I think that's a pretty good answer to a trivia
question in the future, because I wouldn't have guessed him,
you know, I for some reason or another I would
have not have guessed. Is that some some some major
some major accomplishment. But would people have expected he's the
guy to break the all time record.

Speaker 6 (05:39):
The way I look at it, because there's a really
good question.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
The way I look at it is this generation, like
Ryan and I talked about, is if you're thirty, maybe
thirty two and younger, like, this is your Garth, this
is your guy. Okay, this is your Garth Brooks. Now,
he's a young guy. He's got a hell of a story.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
He was in the Navy.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
A lot of his videos that he uploaded while he
was doing that, they went viral. So he's kind of
a this era situation, like he's a viral sensation. He
served as well as he's doing country music. I mean,
I don't think you can get I don't think you
can get bigger than that. In the trending space, everyone
thirty two to twelve years old. They noticed guy's lyrics,
like I was listening to him.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
We gave him twenty minutes. Yeah, I gave him twenty minutes.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
I was there to see John Mayor, but everyone saying
every single word to every single song, like the twenty
minutes I was there, That's what I got.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
Who's the headliner?

Speaker 6 (06:28):
He was a headliner. That's what I thought.

Speaker 5 (06:29):
He was a headliner. John Mayor did him a favorite,
did him a solid. You also bring in the parents
by having John Mayer, parents can come to the content.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
Not exactly the same genre is genre.

Speaker 5 (06:39):
It's not, but it's guitar. John Mayer's from New Orleans,
so he plays a bit of that soul. He's on
the guitar as well. He played some acoustic guitars, so
it's got some of the same soul in it, but
his is more soul like creoles.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
More black people, John Mayor, Oh yeah, have you ever
seen the word? I just want to make sure more
black people form John Mayor. And they stuck around for
Luke Bryant. What did you do before? Because we saw
you a cool picture with you on somebody's poetraits.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
So that's why I got Peter saw Peter goff at
Michigan in eighty four class eighty four to Jared and
no relation to Jared.

Speaker 6 (07:15):
And but his spot is the spot.

Speaker 5 (07:18):
So those are the two houses on I guarantee Ryan
knows what I'm talking about. It's on Pauline and Main Street.
I know exactly. It's the two houses on the corners,
the light blue house and the.

Speaker 8 (07:27):
Yellow little house. And he wanted, yeah, shout outbody.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
Everybody knows. So he owns them both. He gutted them both.
Added made it a tailgate space. But his tailgates are
like gotta have an invite.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Oh yeah, you gotta have right. Well, it looks good, man,
it looks like a great time.

Speaker 6 (07:43):
It was a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Yeah, So late night I would guess, nah, you know.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
What, because luckily John Mayr opened and I didn't come
to see Zach Brian in totality, So show started. I
think John Mayor went on seven fifteen, terrible. Zack Bryan
went on about nine. About nine I was I was
one foot out the big house probably nine thirty two.

Speaker 8 (08:07):
Oh wow, you don't mess around.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
So I got back to the crib like ten fifteen.
I had on the Oregon Penn State game, I had
to get back to football.

Speaker 4 (08:14):
Yeah. You you were took a tour. Yeah, well you
knew all the all the back roads. There's no doubt
about that one. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (08:21):
How about that breakly You know what?

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I love that T shirt too.

Speaker 6 (08:25):
I appreciate it was by it. I had to double it.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
You didn't buy it there, you've already had it.

Speaker 6 (08:29):
No, I did not buy it there.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
I bought it at a Western Store on Farmington and
eight miles, No kidding, it's what it's called. It's literally
called the Western Store. They got some dope stuff up
in there. That this hat. You know, my my chocolate
brown had. It's not quite a stetson, so you know
it's not it's not three hundred five, but yeah, five
or ten guys, right, yeah, oh, you know what I

(08:53):
meant to say is a happy National Coffee.

Speaker 6 (08:55):
Then happy National coffee.

Speaker 9 (08:58):
There.

Speaker 6 (08:58):
Man, got a little gladiated expressed smoothie.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
You get to Smoothie King. Okay, all right, those were
all gone by the time I got here.

Speaker 6 (09:06):
Man.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
Some people clean that out. Kneel and Company clean that out.
They just go to town.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
They get they're lucky their own air when when the
delivery comes. But don't worry. Yeah, I have you on tomorrow.
I have everybody on the show one tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
During during commercial break, they're all over. Well, I'm glad
you had fun because it looks like a lot of
fun and it was cool. I liked that you're willing
to you know, you got that umbrella, man, you open
it up, your branch out, you go see some different things.
And then you got back to college football, which was
you know, another James Franklin mountdown to big, big, big,

(09:40):
isn't it? Seriously? It's incredible.

Speaker 6 (09:43):
Let me ask you a question about that. How much
of it is James and how much of the player?

Speaker 4 (09:46):
I was going to ask you the same thing, but
there is one constant. Yeah, we can nitpick on numbers
all we want, like, we can skew numbers any way
we want about whether a player or a coach we
like or dislike. So when people are out there, you
could tell against top six teams James Franklin's two and

(10:06):
twenty one. Yes, now again, why six? Well, maybe it's
because his numbers aren't very good. Maybe what if you
extended it to ten, his numbers might be a lot better.
Somebody wanted to alarm us, and they did a good
job of that, by the way, and his team, you know,
in and overtime in the white out, Oh okay, home
field advantage is supposed to matter. It didn't against Oregon,

(10:30):
did it.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
I know people can't talk about the Lions, but one
thing I will say about James Franklin is this, It
goes on players and it goes on coach. Because Drew
Allen through the interception at the end of the game,
James Franklin wasn't in there throwing the interception that was
on the quarterback where I would charge James Franklin making
more about them. What do you need to do to
bring in the type of players that can be to
Ohio State, that can beat Michigan, that can help you

(10:52):
win in these big moments. Because if you're gonna tell
me what Drew Allen's just, then go get yourself a
five star quarterback because last time I checked, the money
that you is ten million plus. You guys have money
at Penn State. Go start recruiting some of these receivers,
like the receiver of South Carolina Nick I can't think
his last name, that Nick Harbor, that runs at.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
Ten to two. Guess where he's from. Not too far
from Pennsylvania.

Speaker 5 (11:12):
Go get the studs that can beat the teams as
cause you problem. That's why we charge James Frankin, You're
this great recruiter. Stop recruiting the same type of player
as a six to one quarterback that has some athletic ability,
can't really throw the ball that far, but can run
a little bit, and you hand the ball off to
a running back that's probably from Jersey or Pennsylvania. This
has been copy paste for twenty years.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Then I don't disagree with any of it.

Speaker 6 (11:34):
Outside linebackers, Why then.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
Why are there so many people who live in that
space and call themselves expert in that space and suggests
that Penn State is a national championship contender.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
Because they went to the playoffs last year, because they've
had a name over the past ten years, because they're
always mentioned in the top eight. In the last ten years,
you're hearing bomb top eight. Sometimes they sneak up the two.
They've had some players like say Kwan Arkley have come
out and had some success. Michael Parsons, abdul Hodge last year.
You always got an outside linebacker and they always have
a shot, like they're always around they're always around and

(12:11):
the reason why people don't give them much flags because
Penn State doesn't care. Like if James Franklin and his
Penn State situation was at a different type of school,
it wouldn't be allowed to go on, like.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
It depends on the school.

Speaker 5 (12:22):
But I agree exactly. Penn State is the Big Tens
version of Oklahoma State. Mike Gundhy, I mean, better team,
but Mike Gundhy never get fired and neither were James Franklin.

Speaker 8 (12:31):
I mean the last week.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Well, yeah, before then, I hear what you're saying. Yeah, no,
you're one hundred percent right.

Speaker 10 (12:37):
He was.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
He was a quarterback there. Maybe they gave a little
bit longer of a runway to him. James Franklin. I
get the sense Penn State people almost feel like we
can't do any better, and instead of thinking that it's
more of a destination site or a place that more
people would want to coach, I get the sense they

(12:59):
feel like, you know what, this is probably as good
as we're going to get.

Speaker 5 (13:02):
Is it that mixed because I'm not going to say,
or is it that mixed in with the fact that
he's the guy that saved them after you know, what.

Speaker 6 (13:09):
He's the guy that.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
Brought them out of the fire after the situation with
that that doesn't need to be mentioned. And it's like, hey,
he brought us out. We didn't think we had a
chance of prayer. All we saw was darkness. He brought
us out to a place where people respect the school. Again,
the hell with it, let's just hope he wins. If
he doesn't, yeah, we'll try again next year.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
I mean, do you really think Penn State could ever
do what what North Carolina did? Hired Bill Belichick, hire
a guy like Bill Belichick. Why wouldn't they be able
to do something like that if they have a rich tradition.
I think it's fair to say that Penn State has
a rich tradition. No is it as rich as some
of the others know, but they have a rich tradition.

(13:48):
There's you and I have been a happy valley. I
don't know if ryaner kg has. There's not a lot
to do there, okay, and you don't get a lot
of coverage. Case in point, how what took place with
the Jerry Sandusky flew under the radar for so long? Okay,
So why wouldn't that be a place where you could

(14:10):
tantalize somebody with a bigger name, more credentials than James Franklin.
That's what I'd like to know.

Speaker 6 (14:18):
Say.

Speaker 4 (14:18):
So, if you think that they're not worthy, or you
feel like it's not something that is all that desirable,
how do they make it more desirable and start talking.
Let's not talk about them as if they are one
of those elite places.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
But you know who is an elite place and is
desirable in the Detroit Lions. And they're starting to prove
Week one is that of the distant.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Paths And here's the beauty of what the Lions a
different line. Like you said, with the Detroit Lions, they've
been able to beat teams that quote unquote you're supposed
to beat and then rise to the occasion like they
did against Baltimore. And suddenly we're looking at the Lions
a lot differently, not you and I, but I mean
people in general, a lot differently than we did a

(15:00):
few weeks ago. We are also looking at Green Bay
a lot differently than we did a few weeks ago,
because the Packers looked like a team that was gonna
be arguably one of the best teams in the NFC.
Suddenly there's a lot of cracks in that armor. Yeah,
the defensively specifically, that is a problem for them right now.

(15:21):
And people are starting to question Matt Lafleur. They're starting
to question Jordan Love. Jordan Love played pretty well forty points,
you know, but how does the defense give up forty
points in that regard. It's just it's amazing how quickly
sports can turn in such a short period of time.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
Yeah, one or you know, you down into the beginning
of the season. Season gets off to a certain start
for the Green Bay Packers. They got all the emotion,
all the energy, right, and then they beat the Lions.
Lions get off to a slow start and that hurt
them in the end. And now you look like something.
And then you beat a Commander's team four days later
that is not the same team that we saw last year.
Doesn't seem to be as good as the same team

(15:58):
we saw last year now, so this.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
Team is great seams doing real things.

Speaker 5 (16:02):
I think when we saw the game last week, and
Cleveland's defense, which we saw is damn good.

Speaker 6 (16:07):
They can only do so much with a bad offense.
And we'll get into that.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
But when you watch that Cleveland game, I think that
was a game to put it on notice, like, wait,
I know that defense is good, but they're not that
good to the point where if you're supposed to be
this really good offense, you're supposed to be able to
figure some things out. Josh Jacobs, you got this receiving
core Tucker Craft play, which means he was all systems go.
You have a good offensive line and you have this
genius and Matt Laflores and what was that with?

Speaker 6 (16:30):
Then? What was that?

Speaker 5 (16:31):
I think you have to take things like that serious.
And then you watch them against Dallas. They put up
the points. The defense, for all the ranking and all
the talk, they struggled against Dak Prescott, a person that
I'm not the same to admit when I'm wrong, I'm
not wrong. However, he is playing well. Dak Prescott so
far this season is playing well, So I'll give him love.
It won't last, that's correct. For right now, he's playing

(16:54):
well and he's rolls to the occasion.

Speaker 8 (16:56):
I give you.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
I give you credit for at least acknowledging that because
he's kind of forced it, and he did without his
best wide receiver and one of the best wide receivers
in all of football.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
He lost weight, he looks better in the pocket, he
looks more fluid. Obviously he slow as hell at the
end of the game. That's why Michael Carton, but he
looks like he's taking a series offseason, like he came
in with something different.

Speaker 6 (17:18):
So that's to be respected.

Speaker 4 (17:19):
Yeah, we were told the offensive line wasn't gonna be
able to do anything against green Bay's defensive front, and
they actually did so. Not that I want to talk
a lot about the Cowboys, I would just say this.
I mean, Detroit scored twenty seven points on that defense
of Cleveland. I know the score was thirty four, but
that was special teams, right, Khalif Freeman with the return
twenty seven points. And I'm not one of those guys

(17:41):
who can say, well, they scored twenty seven. Green Bay
scored ten. So Detroit's that much better than green Bay.
We've already seen Detroit play green Bay. A lot of
is when you play a team where you play a
team where it rests on your schedule. But the Lions defense,
like we were talking about green Bay's defense, We've talked
about Baltimore's defense before that game going in, Detroit's defense

(18:03):
was stellar against Cleveland. And before people start to say, well,
their offense isn't very good, it was good enough at
times this year to scare some other opponents. Detroit made
sure it did not come close to scaring Lions fans.

Speaker 5 (18:19):
Yeah, everybody gets paid in the NFL, and when you're
in pro sports, everybody gets paid.

Speaker 6 (18:22):
Coaches get paid, coordinators get paid.

Speaker 5 (18:24):
And players get paid. So you play the players and
the coaches against you. When you beat them, you deserve
to take credit in that. But it's not when you
play bad team just oh, it was a bad team,
and it's not much. It's how did you look against
that team? Cleveland never was in the game, Like even
in the first drive with it scored. It came out nice,
first drive, made some plays. It's always going to be rocky.
By the way, I told you to score. It be

(18:45):
thirty to ten. It was thirty four to ten. It's
like that in the beginning, and then you figure them out.
Once the Lions figured them out outside the interception, they
never really let the foot off the gas and never
did you fear the Lions were in bad shape. And
then you watch how they played on defense. They dominated,
They dominated in the middle. DJ readers figuring it out
in the middle.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
He's been good.

Speaker 6 (19:04):
He's been really good. He's been really good.

Speaker 5 (19:06):
You got some guys on the obum say like NAWASKI
came up before you hears some interergy off the bench.

Speaker 6 (19:11):
Maybe this is why.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Derrick Derek Barnes was so good.

Speaker 6 (19:14):
They're starting to come on. I meant he saw it
in the Baltimore Ravens game.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
Yes, we did. Maybe, just maybe it's gonna take a
lot to convince us. And right now Kagi's smirking a
little bit because he knows where I'm going with this. Maybe,
just maybe Brad Holmes is smarter than all of us.
Maybe because and Dan Campbell he maybe they saw something.
And Derek Barnes, they know Lee McNeil's coming back. They
know that Kelvin Shepherd can find ways to dial up pressure.

(19:41):
Then you and I and everybody else were looking at
and saying, sorry, if you don't get Trey Hendrickson, it's
not gonna work. If you don't make a move and
go get Max Crosby, it's not gonna work. We've got
to do something. Please find me. Zadaria Smith. Oops, he's
been absent for two weeks. Maybe they did know. Maybe
they were that smart about it. Now I still would

(20:02):
feel a lot more comfortable with some of the depth.
And now you look at the cornerback position, you can
say the same thing. But it's interesting how a lot
of these guys have really elevated their play from a year.

Speaker 5 (20:14):
Ago one hundred per saying, look, two things can be
true just talking about the defensive side of things, that
they would elevate their play. They're playing a lot better
than they played in week one, week two maybe, and
you're starting.

Speaker 6 (20:23):
To see some guys show up.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
And I think that was Aaron Glenn's conversation with Dan
Campbell as well as Brad Holmes when he was leaving.
Chef's ready, Chef's the guy. I guarantee this is a
conversation that had. This is how it happens when they
promote from within the guy before who is Chef's mentor.

Speaker 6 (20:39):
Look, he's ready, he's down in, he's gonna be all right.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
So when Kelvin comes in and he has the conversation,
now he'st to DC, We're fine. We don't need to
go out making movies. I know what I have, I
know HOWMA utilize it. That's gotta be where they feel comfortable.
It's not Brad Holmes saying, yeah, I spent enough money,
I put the right pieces there.

Speaker 6 (20:56):
It's not Dan Campbell.

Speaker 5 (20:59):
This is the directly related to Kelvin Sheppard and you
saw that on this play last week. Getting back to
how you beat teams, it's how they are beating teams.
It's how the Cleveland Brown game look. It's how the
Baltimore Raven game look. It's how that Chicago Bears team looks.
Chicago's Bear team. Excuse me, the Bears are a bad team.
They got beat up on. Baltimore is supposed to be
a good team, but they have holes. Guess what found

(21:20):
those holes exposed and dominated them. The Cleveland Brown's really
good defensive line, not much on the offense. Don't get
brought into a dog fight. They didn't get brought into
a dog fund. Pun intended on that one. So it's
just liking the way they are playing in that defensive
line and that defense as a whole. It's the reason
why I went back and found him in my fantasy
and then my fantasy defense.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
Yeah, I love what Kelvin Shepherd is done. I love
what John Morton has done. I mean, and I think
you got to give Dan Campbell a lot of credit
because the conversation, like you said, with Aaron Glenn, and
to say, you know what, I do trust Aaron Glenn's
suggestion because Aaron Glen could have brought him. He could
have brought him to it to be the DC. Okay,
and what did Dan Campbell do. I'm elevating and go

(22:00):
outside the organization or bring a guy back into the
organization if you will. John Morton, there was no panic
on this franchise. We all panicked, and I say we
collectively for as Braylin says, effect everybody panicked after the
Green Bay game. I don't see the creativity in their offense.
I'm worried about their leaky defense. The coordinators are gonna

(22:21):
take a long time for them to catch up, figure
out the cliche insert it. Everybody said it. You know what,
everybody was wrong. Okay, at least for now, everybody was wrong.
The offense looks as good now as it's ever looked
under Ben Johnson, and the defense looks as good now
as it ever did under Aaron Glenn. And by the way,

(22:44):
some in certain areas they're playing shorthanded and they're still
getting it done. So it's a really good feeling. We're
gonna talk more about that here on the Brayln Edwards Show.
But first then Johnson is the man and he always
looks good.

Speaker 5 (22:58):
I'm glad you brought up how they're planning this year
versus last year. I got some quarterly numbers. You know,
I'm a big quarters guy, so I got some quarterly
numbers for you.

Speaker 4 (23:06):
Or I believe that the season is almost a quarter
I mean basically is a quarter over.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
You know, obviously they add that one game on said
mess the math up on it, but this is the quarter.
You know who doesn't mess up, and that's Ben Johnson.
Let him fight for you. A lot of people will
try to take what you have. They will take the
things that you work are for that bread being. When
I'm talking about whether it's the corporations, the government, even
your insurance company will try to withhold and minimize their
liability your compensation. So when something goes wrong, make Ben

(23:32):
Johnson your first initial call.

Speaker 6 (23:34):
Not your mom, not your dad, not your brother, not
your sister.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
And I know you love those individuals, but they can't
fight for you in this particular situation like Ben Johnson,
lockcans and contact them at vinfights dot com.

Speaker 8 (23:44):
And can you talk about Arton Jakes.

Speaker 4 (23:46):
I can talk about Artin Jakes. You've been there. They've
got really good food, they've got TVs everywhere. They've got
believe it or not, eighty TVs for you to reel in. Now,
why is that important? Let me tell you why it's important.
Because tonight you've got two Monday night football games. You've
got Cincia Denver, You've got the Jets at the Dolphins,

times cruise with sun Cruiser and Woodward Sports. But please
drink responsibly.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
You talk about numbers, Shit, I got some numbers for you.
All the numbers all right, here's some numbers. They talked
about the offensive coordinators, the defensive coordinators, leaving, the sky
is falling, et cetera.

Speaker 6 (28:26):
No, I admit after Game one I did not like
what I saw. I didn't panic, but I didn't like it.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
And if the Bears game had been different, then the
sky maybe could have fallen. But here we are last
year after four games. It's through to quarterly report. Offensive
points for the Detroit Lions. Last year the greatest team
in Lion history offensively point wise statistically, one hundred and
four points after four games. This season, one hundred and
thirty seven. That's including that stinker in Game one. Defensively,

(28:53):
Aaron Glenn, he's leaving. We won't be able to do much.

Speaker 6 (28:56):
Bear that. Kelvin Sheppard, I don't know. Does he have
the same cache?

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Last year they gave up eighty two points on defense
through four games, this one forty five. I think seventy
five eighty five. I'm off by one, so they gave
up three more points on that one. Yeah, sorry about that.
Jared Goff last year, what would he be without Benjason? Well,
here's Jered Golf last year. One thousand and fifteen yards

(29:20):
five touchdowns and four interceptions at this point last year.
This year he's nine to twenty nine. He's nine touchdowns
to two interceptions. Amar Ron Saint Brown started off math
thirteen yards in game one. After four games he was
two fifty two, two touchdowns and twenty seven catches. This year,
he's twenty seven catches, three hundred and two yards.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
But oh, by the.

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Way, six touchdowns to add to the mix the numbers.
Excuse me, as they say the math is mathing for
this twenty twenty five Detroit.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
Lions a'man ros Saint Brown is the first wide receiver
to produce at least twenty five touchdowns or twenty five receptions.
Excuse me. Hundred receiving yards six receiving tds through his
first four games since your favorite guy, Randy Moss two
thousand and seven are thanks to Tim Twentyman does a
great job as the Lions reporter for Detroit. Lions dot

(30:12):
Com came out with that. You mentioned the points four,
which is really big. Detroit has scored more points than
anybody else in the National Football League. When we think
of the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 6 (30:22):
I'll just think about the first game.

Speaker 10 (30:25):
I know that's nuts.

Speaker 6 (30:26):
Thirteen points.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Yeah, and they in the last two weeks they've done
it against what is traditionally it's been a little bit
more exposed Baltimore traditionally defensive oriented teams. But Detroit one
hundred and thirty seven points leads the NFL. The Bills
are second in that regard, one hundred and thirty three.
Detroit is a on top of just the points because

(30:48):
I think that's the sexy part and that's what we
all gravitate to, and I understand why. Okay, Detroit is
a plus forty eight in scoring differential, the best in
the National football That tells you you're getting it done
on both sides of the ball. Eighty eight points allowed.

(31:08):
Now the Packers have allowed eighty four. Yeah, okay, that's
press pretty impressive, and the Vikings have allowed only eighty
but still the number very strong.

Speaker 5 (31:18):
So far, so strong, and it's also too you leave
players out there. You know what did Jared Goff say
after the Chicago Bears game. They scored fifty two, but
in a polite way, he said, we probably left two
touchdowns on the board, And he's absolutely right. Look at
the points that were left up, or look at the
output that was left out yesterday? How many players were missed,
most notably by you know who, Jamison Williams.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
Who.

Speaker 5 (31:38):
What's your thoughts on jama just in yesterday, the reaction
to him, the conversation because I got I gotta fo
out to what?

Speaker 4 (31:46):
Can you be more specific on the reaction.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
In terms of Jamo? Did you have a bad game yesterday?
Was it just an OK game yesterday? Or is it
something that's alarming you into what he's doing? Anything about it? Yeah,
may not feel any type of way.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
It's not alarming to me. I think they're trying their best.
Look what do we all say about Detroit's wide receivers.
I'm on Ross sain Brown. You said it before anybody.
I saw trending a lot on social media yesterday. You
said it, he's arguably the best athlete, best wide receiver,
the best wide receiver in football, not just because he
plays full the lines. You don't care how he runs

(32:21):
his routes. That's what I always look at. Catches everything
with his hands. He's dependable. He's a good blocker down
field period. You look at Isaac Teslah, big body should
be in the red zone. You said that in Week one,
Jamison Williams is your vertical guy. They're trying to get
him the football downfield. I don't blame them for doing that.

(32:45):
I can't tell if he's running the correct routes. You
would know this better than I would. Is he running
them as as strongly as he should? If he's not,
you'd be saying something about it. I'm not worried about it.
They gave him a cushion where he feels really comfortable
in the space, and he's going to be a lion
for a while. I think he's okay.

Speaker 6 (33:04):
Yeah, okay, here's my thoughts on him.

Speaker 5 (33:08):
I started off by saying, as a former wide receiver,
NFL drops happen. They are part of the job. You're
going to drop some passes. Some drop more than others,
some don't drop that many. I'm already saying, Brown, Larry Fitzgerald,
you're gonna be counting a lot of games in between
how many drops they have? Some people a little bit
more frequency. Brandon Marshall, he was dropping three four games.
My issue is it's a different conversation.

Speaker 6 (33:29):
Now.

Speaker 5 (33:29):
There's two things that kind of bothered me. One, Jamison
Williams for the four or five years that he's been here.
It seems like a struggle to get him implemented. Like
it seems like a struggle even last year with Ben Johnson,
Like it just felt like forced plays, like, oh, well,
let's get him involved, just throw them a reverse. Oh
here's here's an open opportunity. We're up thirty forty points.

(33:49):
Let's do a little play action, take it out of
Dave Montgomers and then throw it down down the field.

Speaker 6 (33:53):
And he's eating by.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
Yeah, he's having yards, he's having success, but it just never.

Speaker 6 (33:58):
Seems like it's fluid.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
Ever seems comfortable for him, and it never seems comfortable
for the offensive coordinator. I would give I would give
Johnny Mooton more credit because at least he's trying to
get him implemented early in games. But to throw him
in the ball early on in games, but then there's
nothing in the second half.

Speaker 6 (34:14):
That was early on the season.

Speaker 5 (34:15):
Now, yesterday, they did a job trying to get him
the ball. They did a good job of trying.

Speaker 4 (34:21):
He was targeted more than anybody else, by the way.
You know, people look at Saint Brown for good reason.
They did it, but he was targeted more outside of
Jerry Judy.

Speaker 6 (34:30):
They did a great job of trying to get him
the ball.

Speaker 5 (34:31):
Yesday targeting, he had some drops and look, you got
to catch the ball the one on the one on
the left side line where he starts here, he looks
over here. That's a tough catch. Like that is an
absolutely tough catch. Like you have to start here. Your
mind is telling yourself, ball's coming here. I'm set up everywhere.
Boom draw balls on the drop. Heread falls like this

(34:52):
to immediately then have to say, shoot, it's on the
opposite side.

Speaker 6 (34:56):
Reset your brain to start. It's a tough catch.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
When you may twenty eight point three million dollars, you
gotta start making that catch.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
So should he have made that cat? Yes?

Speaker 6 (35:04):
And there's different conversations.

Speaker 5 (35:06):
And if that's not one that you think he should
make because you want to give him a little cushion.
Remember I'm the one that lobbied for Jamo when everybody
was out there. Get rid of and you do this,
send him this way. He's immature, he's this always had
his back. I deserve this conversation. The diame that jerk
Off threw him on the left, on the right side
where he's running towards the right.

Speaker 6 (35:24):
That's a press. That's a dream. Yeah, Like that's a dream.
You asked to be led and to be thrown right here.

Speaker 5 (35:29):
So whatever is going on with Jamo, you're in a
different tax bracket right now.

Speaker 6 (35:32):
It has to be better.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
It has to because you consider him a guy who
is short handed.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
No, okay, and we knew that coming in because he's
a chess catcher. He's a chess catcher. Hands was a
big thing for him in year one. Like when he
came in December of twenty twenty two, we saw right away,
like after the touchdown against the Jets, he had some
drops like, okay, this would be a thing that will
work on. He's gotten much better. He's gotten much better.
But when you decide, and this is on the Lions too,
this isn't just him. When you decided you're gonna pay

(36:00):
only eight million dollars to a wide receiver, when you
decide that's the trigger you're gonna pull, then you better
know because right now it seems like they're trying.

Speaker 6 (36:07):
To figure out a way to get their thirty.

Speaker 5 (36:09):
Million dollar receiver almost involved with offensive game plan. And
to me, that doesn't seem like the right way. It's
I know how to use Jamo. This name works now we.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Pay minutes the difference, then, help me, how would it
be different. You're viewing him if he if them forcing?
Maybe I'm putting words in your mouth and stopping if
I'm if I am, or if I'm parsing words forcing
to get him involved, compared to just having him generically
involved like they do with aman Ra Saint Brown. We

(36:42):
never said that about a'man Rossaint Brown. After week one,
we wanted them to get him more involved. Tell me
the difference of those two things.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
It just doesn't feel smooth, and it hasn't felt smooth.
It should like they give the ball to a'm on
Ra a lot, but it doesn't feel like it's forced.
Feel like it's on time. If you want to switch
teams to make it make more sense. Davonte Smith is
the number two in Philly now. Devontae Smith is more
established number two, but he's a number two Ieur receiver.
He acts like a number two Wheur receiver. The way
the system is. I mean, Philly sucks right now, but

(37:11):
when they get him the ball, you feel it like
it feels organic into a certain cit Jordan Adison look
at him yesterday. Jordan Addison and it's his first game
of the year and they already knew how to get him,
get him going, get him started.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
How would you use him? You said, by the way,
you said Philly sucks. Right now you're talking about their offense.

Speaker 5 (37:30):
Well, I'm talking about in terms of down the field.
I got you Brown, he's quoting the Bible again. Yeah,
he's Davonte Smith's on my fantasy team. So I'm little
pissed about that.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
A J Brown's on mind, I'm even more pissed. So
tell me how you would incorporate Jamison Williams into making
it look more fluid and more natural in their offense.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
I mean, also to it. It sucks when you have
a play like when he's wide open, streaking on the
post route. He gets a little hand, you know, there's
some pressure from Miles Garrett and the defensive line. Jared
doesn't have that time get down the field. He catches that,
and now we're like, oh, well, maybe I give Johnny
Mooreton credit for trying to get Jamo more involved. He's
done way more than Ben Johnson did with this wide receiver.

(38:12):
I just thought it would feel more organic by week four.
I just feel like it would like, because if not.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
It's a field thing. You're a field guy. You've said
that for a long time. This is a feel.

Speaker 5 (38:24):
Because the way this feels right now is I want
to see number eighteen a little bit more like. I'm
not saying bench Jamo. This isn't the Tarran Arnold to
meet Robinson thing, but I want to see what Isaac
Tesla can do, because clearly you haven't necessarily figure out
what Jamo is to the offense, so you might as
well start figuring out what eighteen is.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
At the same time, would you want Williams more involved
in near the goal line in red zone situations? Or
do you think they're trying to get him downfield and
that's the appropriate action right now?

Speaker 5 (38:51):
I think that, by excuse me, I think Johnny Mo
should pay attention to what Andy Reid is doing with
Xavier work.

Speaker 6 (38:59):
Yeah, however Xavier Worthy is being used.

Speaker 5 (39:02):
By is how you're gonna use Jams, especially because it works,
especially yesterday, and it feels Did it feel rest when
he brought him in here?

Speaker 6 (39:10):
No?

Speaker 4 (39:10):
But I don't study them all right, I don't look
at them as with that poignant eye as much as
I do with the Lions, and you know what, to
your point, because I'm on Ross Saint Brown is so good,
so steady, and so trustworthy. I suppose anything I get
from Jamison Williams is gravy. I hate to put it
that way, but I know when you throw it to him,

(39:31):
it's gonna be caught. When you throw it to Sam Laporta,
it's gonna get caught. When you've got the tag team
match of Montgomery and Gibbs, I feel comfortable, right. So
anything you get Jamison Williams down in the field and I'm like, oh, well,
that's cool too. I'm fine with that. As long as
this guy's eating, I'm all right. And I gotta probably
look at it differently.

Speaker 5 (39:51):
It's just like you always talk about with your number
two pitches going into the postseason. You want to make
sure you got a number two start. You want to
make sure you feel confident about that. It's the same
thing in the NFL, like when you pay a guy
certain money, like with the Philadelphia Eagles pay Demonte Smith,
he goes out there and he acts like Jordan Addison
will eventually get that he acts like that type of receiver.
They treat him as such, Like the money changes the complexity.
If we're talking about young Jamison Williams is making fifteen

(40:13):
million dollars coming into the season and having this I
eventually he'll figure it out or the Lins will get
rid of.

Speaker 6 (40:18):
They did not. They doubled down.

Speaker 5 (40:20):
They extended him to the tune next year of twenty
eight point million dollars. These are more conversations because you
got a stud in the wings.

Speaker 6 (40:29):
We think so we think on certain place things.

Speaker 4 (40:33):
I'll say this, and I want Kg's thoughts on it too.
A lot of my feeling comes back to trusting Brad Holmes.
That I could be dead wrong there, but I because
I trust him so much, because I believe the things
that he does is for the betterment of the franchise.
They're seeing something in Jamison Williams perhaps that I'm not

(40:54):
quite noticing yet or understanding why he might be taking
a while to get on track.

Speaker 8 (41:00):
And I wanted to ask Brades because I'm glad you
brought up the fact that Johnny mo is trying to
get Jameo Moore involved. We talked a little bit more
than what Ben Johnson was doing, but one you don't
think this will get better throughout the season. Like the
connection to Jamo or them kind of forcing the ball
to Jmo like you said, because we have seen it work.
I mean the two catches for one hundred nine yard

(41:21):
game that he had earlier in the year. Pretty good
when it's working. But do you think that'll get better
as the year goes along? And my second question is
do you think they need to get him the ball
in different ways? Like you said, Xavier, you're worthy. We
saw Ben Johnson do the end the rounds a lot
more with Jamo. Is that another way they can start
getting him the ball to where he can be effected.

Speaker 5 (41:41):
Yeah, one of percent. You got to get the ball
in his hand. And you notice when he has the
ball in his hand, he's dialting a bit more, he's
more maturing games, he stays in, he locks in for block,
and he can make these plays when you get it
to him off in the early Sometimes it's getting to
play in the balls in the hands of a playmaker
like that.

Speaker 6 (41:55):
Is those jet.

Speaker 5 (41:56):
Sweeps, Yeah, jet sweet options, little things like that. Maybe
you get him some confidence, maybe you get him locked
in into the game, and then maybe from there you
take the shots down the field.

Speaker 6 (42:06):
What's the first question.

Speaker 8 (42:07):
No, but do you think it will improve as the
season going.

Speaker 5 (42:10):
But okay, I'm glad you asked that. That's my that's
my issue, that's my concern. Like Jameo's not a rookie, Yeah,
Jamo's not your two. Yeah, James not year three?

Speaker 6 (42:19):
Yeah, if you want me to keep going, was not
your four? Excuse me, James, not your three. He's your four.

Speaker 5 (42:24):
So this is your four for him, And I just
wanted to look a little bit.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
More natural naturally.

Speaker 8 (42:31):
Yeah, I got it.

Speaker 5 (42:32):
We still had We still have thirteen games left, so dang,
it's going fast. Thirteen games left, it's still a lot
of time. And you've seen what this offense is. I
just raid you off the numbers, like the offense is
doing his thing. Johnny moll is dowed in. I just
want that piece to din in And I wish it
would have been a little bit more down in.

Speaker 4 (42:49):
He's almost go on par for as many catches as
he had a year ago. Last year he had fifty
eight rocks over a thousand yards. The question, I would,
knowing that there's only one football, knowing that you've got
so much talent around you, does he really need to
be targeted that often? Does he really need to have
that many catches for him to be that explosive and

(43:09):
him that influential in the game.

Speaker 8 (43:13):
Does he really need not necessarily catches?

Speaker 5 (43:15):
No, he does, and you know what, and that's fair,
Then why did you pay him thirty million dollars? It's
a great question because if that's the case, because my
whole thing that I argue somebody that's set in that
very cheer who's in the back right now, argue with
him because he was on the side.

Speaker 6 (43:28):
We don't need James and Williams.

Speaker 5 (43:29):
You can get anybody any for two wide receiver. This
was a conversation in the off season. Well, we don't
have to pay him extra. We can get any four
two wide receiver. It's about stretching vertically down the field. Well,
now I'm and I told him that was foolish, Jameo.

Speaker 6 (43:43):
What he does is worth more than that.

Speaker 3 (43:46):
It was not.

Speaker 5 (43:46):
But now I'm I'm arguing kind of in the same
way that that person was. If you're talking about just
being a vertical threat and that's all we needed for,
then why are we paying him thirty million dollars?

Speaker 6 (43:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (43:57):
No, It's funny how our rules have almost reversed Yeah,
you were a big support of him early and now
you're able to look at it with a critical eye.
I was very critical of him early in his career,
and now I look at it with a more lenient eye.
When it comes to jameson one.

Speaker 5 (44:14):
Money changes that and it sucks that it does. But
there comes different conversation, different thoughts. I think it's different
responsibilities in different onlyers. When you start talking about that
type of money, is this is what I saw in
that player, which I believe that he's like, I believe
that he's that, like I always said that, But I'm
talking about what I see right now. Hasn't shown me that,
And it doesn't look like they believe that. In the office,
they're trying to.

Speaker 6 (44:34):
Figure it out.

Speaker 5 (44:35):
Like I played in this league, Like when I was
trying to get my bonus, they weren't trying to figure
it out. They knew what I was worth, they knew
what I had done, they paid me as such, and
we moved on. Like in year four, they weren't like,
all right, well we're gonna give him this. I wish
they would have. I wish that they would have dropped
that bag on me and sayead we believe in You
know NFL is different back then.

Speaker 6 (44:54):
Yeah, but that's not what the case was.

Speaker 4 (44:56):
There's a couple of different things I noticed just during
the NFL Week four and I wanted your thoughts on it,
and both have to do with receivers, So apologies, I'm
not automatically assuming because you played wide out at the
highest level that I always have to bring wide receivers
into the conversation. But Tampa was playing Philly. You brought

(45:17):
up Philly. You know they don't go downfield. Tampa does
a pretty good job of going downfield. Baker Mayfield hit.

Speaker 6 (45:24):
And book A.

Speaker 4 (45:26):
Downfield right sideline. Unbelievable throw and concentration on the catch.
He kind of gave up at He left two defenders
in case you didn't see it, folks, two defenders in
the dust, all right. The throw came right just around
the twenty yard line, all the way down to the
Philly forty, and then both defenders fell down and Booka
probably stopped right on fifteen to ten yard line and

(45:48):
then slowly backpedaling walking into the end zone probably cost
him about five six, maybe seven seconds of time, as
in that time would have been valuable at the end.
And then a Donomey Mitchell. Same thing in Indianapolis, not exactly,
but he celebrated too early as a guy who played

(46:08):
at the highest level and seeing those two plays, how
much does it infuriate you as a competitor knowing that
things you got to act differently. Man, you can't act
like this in the ultimate team sport.

Speaker 5 (46:24):
And Mecca book is a hell of a wire savior.
He is a hell of a player. I've said that
when he was at the other school. Respect to him,
but that's what you get out of House State. It's
about them. It's an individualistic conversation. Like that's individuality at
his finest, like to slow walk, need those seconds and
you know, make it about you.

Speaker 6 (46:42):
Look, it's a hell of a play, is what it is.

Speaker 5 (46:44):
He made it about him. I don't necessarily condone it,
but he he made the play. So I'll let his
coach deal with that. Adamni Mitchell, congratulations to the Dunk
Club and welcome and welcome. Just like Deshaun Jackson, who
notably did it on the punt return, he did it
twice that year. He actually did it in the USA
was it the All American Game? He did it and
then did it in a later year.

Speaker 6 (47:05):
Excuse me.

Speaker 5 (47:06):
In the NFL, get to the end zone first, like
that's where you get your money, paydirt as you call it,
where you get your chicken, as you know. Get to
the end zone, and then you can do all the
things like the fact that you're celebrating mentally because he
that's what happened.

Speaker 6 (47:22):
He's okay, cool. I had worked on this.

Speaker 5 (47:24):
I'm gonna hit him with Oh shoot with the ball
though he was looking for the celebration.

Speaker 8 (47:28):
I keep talking.

Speaker 6 (47:30):
So Boom watched his band hell of a play. Look
look at the play.

Speaker 5 (47:34):
One hand spins off like he does, like this is
this would be the play of the day, except.

Speaker 6 (47:39):
All right, I got hit. Look at it like that's it?

Speaker 5 (47:45):
In am I still in No, it's not a touchdown
anymore as a touchback. This is one of those lessons
that young guys learned from time to time. Who got
up and spiked it? One time it was a bigger receiver,
Brandon Marshall. I think he got up his rookie years
spiked it and he wasn't an end zone yet either.

Speaker 6 (47:59):
So it happened.

Speaker 4 (48:01):
But that game ended. That's a seven point game. Okay,
that's a big play right there. Yeah, And I don't
know if people are gonna people in Indian apples will
remember it at.

Speaker 5 (48:14):
That just looks bad because it's like, why she's about
to switch hands? First of all, never switch hands, like,
don't switch hands go into the end zone or raise
the ball with the hand it's already on it, like
you don't take tens like that.

Speaker 3 (48:29):
Like.

Speaker 5 (48:29):
The only person that I know that can think about
what he's gonna do before he gets in the end
zone five yards away was Reggie Bush. And we've seen
him do it a million times. Jump from the six,
jump from the seven, and he's in there. Well, I
think I might switch it from this side. I think
I might walk in like this. If you're not Reggie
Bush stopped thinking at the five, get an inze.

Speaker 4 (48:46):
I was gonna say Dean Sanders too, because he does
the sidestep a little bit, but he's he made that always,
so you know, so popular that to me, I don't
I don't understand as much as you see that happen
to players in the past, and I'm sure they're reminded
of excite me. I always can continue to get excited.

Speaker 13 (49:06):
I mean, I'm not I don't know if Taylor did it
last year, excitement, but it's it's a different level because
now the celebration now scoring a touchdown and so big.

Speaker 5 (49:18):
Scoring touchdown was always a major, but now it's because
of social media. Now it's because of the dances. Now
it's because what comes with scoring, scoring comes with branding, marketing,
dollars face out there going viral. I mean people think
about it more like you guys practice celebrations. The guy's
legitimately practiced celebrations, so it comes with the territory. But

(49:39):
he's on the team. I believe in the Colts. I
think this this team is a good team. I think
they have I think they have something there. I think
what Styching is doing is good. You won't see this
from him again, Like this will be a one and
done type situation. This this won't happen again. Deshaun Jackson
did it in high school and then did an NFL,
but Andy Reid was his coach. You didn't see it again,

(50:01):
Andyry Wottaman and the boom, it didn't happen again. He's
in the right system to where you won't see again
if you see it again, And that's the person that's
just the type of player he is.

Speaker 4 (50:11):
Uh, that's again. I mean he's on a team last year,
or it happened. I'm surprised you don't learn from it
in that regard. But to your point.

Speaker 6 (50:20):
Texas doesn't care. He's it.

Speaker 4 (50:23):
What's that?

Speaker 6 (50:23):
He said? And I was on team last year? Are
you talking me out? Jonathan? Yeah, Jonathan, Oh yeah, Jonathan Taylor.

Speaker 4 (50:28):
And that's the that's the frustrating thing I would think
if you're a Colts fan. But to your point, I mean,
those things matter. The Bucks lost by five. I don't
know how if they have those six extra seconds, if
they take advantage of it. But as a team, doesn't
that happen? But yeah they did. But doesn't that have

(50:50):
to be patrolled by the leadership within the room or
do you think that's a coaching situation.

Speaker 5 (50:56):
Well, the coaches have to step in because apparently his
leader did it last year. So apparently this is where
the coach STEP's in, or this is where this is
what owner this is. She can come in the locker
room and.

Speaker 4 (51:08):
Yeah everywhere else, right, I got you. Yeah, by the way,
you brought up Bandy Reid over two hundred wins, now, wow,
she said, with two separate franchisees.

Speaker 6 (51:18):
That'd never be done again.

Speaker 4 (51:20):
That's really impressied. It never be done again, you know,
I mean, you're you're in Philly. Two hundred and was it?
Two hundred and twenty four? Two dred and forty four
wins for him? Two hundred and twenty four wins as
an Eagles head coach, two hundred wins as the chief
sideline boss. Wow. And by the way, hats off to
Patrick Mahomes yesterday. I mean, look, you said Baltimore is

(51:42):
in really bad shape. You said that for two weeks now.
Baltimore is vulnerable. I'm not counting them out in their division.
Although Pittsburgh won yesterday. A lot of credit to the Steelers.
Didn't put up huge numbers, but who cares, right, I
mean they're three and one bottom line.

Speaker 5 (51:57):
Goods out by the offensive coordinator moving dk metcalf around
early just because he's six', four just because he's a,
mutant just because he runs four to, two four to,
three slow, down, sir don't come into the.

Speaker 6 (52:11):
STUDIO i appreciate. You, like just because he's, that don't
mean you just line him up and run go routs
or dump post.

Speaker 5 (52:16):
Routes they moved him around a lot early in the,
game moved him in the, slot moved him on this
sad moving in the, backfield got them all, balanced gave
the ball in.

Speaker 6 (52:24):
Space kudos To, yeah really good, coaching that's what you're.

Speaker 4 (52:27):
Saying so you, KNOW i know people have Questioned Mike
stern left and right, recently but in, FAIRNESS i Mean
Aaron rodgers again didn't have a big, game but he
knows where to go with the. BALL i mean HE
Dk metcalf five rocks one hundred and twenty six. Yards
one hundred and twenty. Six If Aaron rodgers twenty yards
went TO Dk, metcalf he's getting the guy who's a
difference maker for his offense, Fantasy he's getting him the.

(52:52):
Football they don't have that many On.

Speaker 6 (52:54):
Pittsburgh you know what else helped.

Speaker 5 (52:56):
THEM i don't know how to be moving forward in the,
season But kenneth Game will ran the ball. Well they
were able to run the. Ball when you can run the,
ball you can do some. Damage yea one hundred Yards Shan.
Jenkins he ran the ball early in that series on
The lions that Allow Joe flakos's. Space he made some
on time throws because of the run game a little.
Bit but once that run game kind of dissipe, anyway

(53:18):
you get.

Speaker 4 (53:18):
That but you said this About baltimore And baltimore was.
BEATEN i started to, Say Patrick mahomes four, touchdowns two
hundred and seventy, yards he balled. Out, OKAY i mean
he got if you're worthy of the football in the
in the right, space but check all the football in
the right. Space he made the plays you expected to
play the guy who did, not even though you know

(53:39):
it's not like he cost him the. Game that's not
What i'm referring. To but and it's only his first,
interception But Lamar jackson another key fumble in a game like.
That and Now Kansas city's won seven of the last.
Eight SO i was thinking about you while watching that.
Game i'm, Like, Damn Kansas city is Handling baltimore much
Like baltimore was handled not is decisively by The. Lions

(54:02):
and they've got.

Speaker 6 (54:02):
Issues they got issues for two.

Speaker 5 (54:04):
Reasons, one their offensive line, sucks like the offensive line
is not, good and Then Ron stanley is. Out that hurts,
them that affects, Them lamar can't do what he wants to.

Speaker 6 (54:13):
Do and also The. Lions lions have gave them a.

Speaker 5 (54:16):
Blueprint they added some things With Kansas city And buffalo
have done in the playoffs to The Baltimore, ravens and
then you see it Frustrates, lamark it keeps him in passing.
LANDS i saw that fake stunt That Jack campbell AND
Dj reid did were one jump fake jumping ran.

Speaker 6 (54:31):
BACK i Saw.

Speaker 5 (54:32):
Chiefs do the same. Thing they did the same, thing
and it Does lamorrow with. IT i can't get the
ball over, there SO i drop. It now you've got
guys around and the offensive line they'd be getting beat,
up and he's started looking that. Way maybe The browns
game you started to see. Him REMEMBER i was talking
ABOUT Kg friday when you get the smiling and, saying,
man this right here and blah blah. Blah he looked
like that against The lions for the better part of that.

(54:54):
Game he looked like that. Again he actually looked like
he was throwing the. Talent he, wasn't but the team
was just there was nothing that they could.

Speaker 4 (55:01):
Do it's good news at least out Of lion's practice.
Facility Dan campbell says there's a good chance The lions
Started lee McNeil's returned to play clock this week from
physically unable to perform with so that would be a
welcome addition To detroit's defensive.

Speaker 5 (55:19):
Line this is for the people to. Chat how many
of you almost fainted When aight And hudson went. Down
don't worry alway, Man you should SAY i was watching
the game with my dad by this time when this,
happened and even.

Speaker 6 (55:32):
He was like.

Speaker 4 (55:35):
Holding his breath for a moment because it was, like.

Speaker 5 (55:38):
No not, again especially the way that he's been. Playing
but that's good news About limi.

Speaker 4 (55:42):
Thirty two sacks his first four, seasons and remember he
missed half a season last, year more than half a,
season most In lion's.

Speaker 5 (55:49):
History it's another guy you talk about on par in
terms of where they were at last year versus this.
Year we only played four games last year and he
was what infancy was seven and.

Speaker 4 (55:57):
A, Half, yeah seven and a.

Speaker 6 (55:58):
Half he's at four sacks through four.

Speaker 5 (56:00):
Games remember WHAT i said the number for me eight
And hutcheson had to have fifteen and a half or
more for me to take him.

Speaker 6 (56:06):
Serious as the.

Speaker 5 (56:06):
Elite that that just is what it, is because anything,
UNDERNEATH i mean you could be a Signed redick and
be the beneficiary and have fourteen and a half.

Speaker 6 (56:13):
Sacks he is on that pace to have. Seventeen he's playing.

Speaker 4 (56:16):
Well Dan campbell also, said according To Colton pouncy Of The,
athletic THE Dj reid will be down a. While says
his injury is not season ending and that they'll get him,
back but it's a big loss for an extended period of.

Speaker 5 (56:30):
Time man first interception as A Detroit, lion and now
he's going to be sitting out for you, know when
they say not in season, ending but a.

Speaker 6 (56:37):
While that definitely six to.

Speaker 4 (56:39):
Eight, YEAH i was gonna say that's the tail end
of your, schedule isn't.

Speaker 6 (56:43):
It that's six to. Eight here we go.

Speaker 5 (56:46):
Again look at least the good news is we will
be getting to lean it back. Soon LOSING dj read
it's tough, though because Tarn arnold hasn't been the best this.
Season you, Know mick roberts is playing, well but now
you force him to become.

Speaker 4 (56:58):
Well Mick robertson wasn't even that.

Speaker 6 (56:59):
Good and that's, yeah there we. Go so secondary is.

Speaker 4 (57:03):
And on top of what you're, saying it's it's not
like this guy comes. Back this is not a computer
job where you're sitting in a. CUBICLE i left for
two weeks. Vacation i'm, back AND i give me the.
PAPERWORK i can start punching in. Numbers it takes a
while to get back into that. Flow it.

Speaker 5 (57:18):
Does and also just in the immediate flow right, now
just look at the next three, teams next three t
opponents you. Play you Play Patrick, mahomes who's got his
guy back In Exavier worthy and figuring some things. Out
Xavier worthy allow some passes to seep Into Juju Smith.

Speaker 6 (57:33):
Suster, mark he's.

Speaker 5 (57:33):
Brown you look at The Cincinnati. Bengals they don't have their,
guy but they still got the best duo in the
league that you got to. See and, then, oh by the,
way who comes that third. Wheel that's The Bucks No
Mike evans, potentially but guy wents back and The Mega
booka has been playing like an elite number two in this.

Speaker 6 (57:51):
League those are three good wide receiver. Corps that's your
great points without your.

Speaker 4 (57:54):
Guy, yeah and two of those quarterbacks have been playing
close to elite.

Speaker 6 (57:59):
Football not a bad he had a bad game last,
game but well.

Speaker 4 (58:04):
The interception Was, look he's trying it's a fine. Line
he's trying to make a play because that's who he.
Is LIKE i say this all the. Time we all
know Who Jared goff, is, Right jared Go you're not
gonna get him confused With Lamar. Jackson that's probably a bad.
Example nobody. Is but you're not getting him confused With
Patrick mahomes or any any of those guys who can
Move Baker.

Speaker 14 (58:23):
Mayfield you get him confused With Tom brady these, days
maybe a little. Bit, Yeah but but here's the. Thing Baker,
mayfield he makes plays like. This he he looks, like
he looks, down he weaves his way through, traffic he looks,
up he finds a, guy And i'll be damned if
he doesn't complete the. Pass he tried to do that Against,
philadelphia and it's easy to, say just throw it out of,
bounce but that's not HIS dna.

Speaker 5 (58:44):
And also, too even on a bigger, scale that's what
they pay him to, DO i, Know and that's what
everybody that Watches. Baker what do we all, Say baker
makes it. Happen, yes So baker knows That baker's operating.
That so that's Why i'm not mad At.

Speaker 6 (58:55):
Baker for making it. Happen If Jared goff.

Speaker 5 (58:56):
Tries to run out of pocket and throw cross body
backside and throws, Interception i'm pissed the jaredar that's not
your brand of. Football although way he's saying right now
he might make that.

Speaker 4 (59:06):
Bro when we come. Back more football, discussion but also
The tigers will open up the preseason right the postseason
tomorrow In. Cleveland how do you look at? It do

(01:04:32):

no further Than Sharon's heating and Air. Conditioning they have
lived through the successes and the disappointments for forty years
in this. Town but you'll never be disappointed with their. Service, heating,
cooling indoor air, quality water, heaters whole home. Generators they

Nine or scan THE qr code just above my head
and tell them The Brelan Edwards show sent.

Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
You you guys so more love To Detroit lions last year
and what they were able to do and miss all
the injuries that they dealt. WITH i give you an
example last, year Lines go fifteen and. Two how many
defensive injuries did they?

Speaker 6 (01:05:34):
Have how many.

Speaker 5 (01:05:35):
Notable stars were, out whether it Was, angeloni whether it
was you know who in ninety seven Eight hunchs And
Marcus den twenty, four twenty, three twenty. Four all these
players are out. Right look at what The baltimore AND
a fifteen and. Two look at The Baltimore, ravens like
all their defensive players out nomdis out for the year
right right, right nam these out. Made beekway is, out
Ben oy is out right, Now Rokwan smith is out right.

(01:05:57):
Now Jyry alexander's out right, Now, HAMILTON i, Think and
it just looks like a team that is completely falling.

Speaker 4 (01:06:04):
Apart so the next man up mentality is real In.
Detroit hell, yeah it's, real because there's no doubt this Is.

Speaker 6 (01:06:10):
Baltimore this is The Baltimore.

Speaker 5 (01:06:11):
Ravens every dody they tell me that the best front,
Office they tell me that they, have the, guys the.

Speaker 6 (01:06:15):
Culture these guys are falling apart with.

Speaker 4 (01:06:17):
Injuries, Man it's it's an incredibly violent. Sport i've always
felt like if you, could AND i know the league
doesn't necessarily want to do, THIS i think the rosters
need to be. Expanded you've got fifty three man. ROSTERS
i think they should be. Sixty AND i think you

(01:06:38):
should have more people dressed On sundays just in case.

Speaker 6 (01:06:43):
It's.

Speaker 4 (01:06:43):
Changed. MAN i was just AT i was At pistons
media day and we were a bunch of us were
talking about a lot of different things in sports in,
general and how different sports have. Changed THE, nba the,
stopping the, starting the, quickness the, speed all those different,
things and how it's just. Different it's played. Differently THE
nfl has changed drastically from way back in you, know

(01:07:07):
even the. Nineties, Yeah, okay AND i think we're we're
just burying our head in the sand if we think these,
injuries and a lot of them are soft tissue, injuries
aren't going. Away something's got to be done about. It
AND i wish, now maybe there's not good enough players out.

Speaker 6 (01:07:27):
There, okay that could.

Speaker 4 (01:07:28):
Be you, know maybe there aren't enough good players in
the world to take up six more. Spots BUT i
would take them from the practice squads and keep the
practice squads.

Speaker 6 (01:07:38):
LIGHTER nfl is.

Speaker 5 (01:07:39):
Cheap the more you can, make the more you want to,
save and the more you find ways to. Save you
don't want to add more players because now you got
to pay more. Players there's more health insurance, things oh nine,
Yards so they'll make up a bunch of.

Speaker 6 (01:07:51):
Excuses they're. Cheap simply, put what are The?

Speaker 4 (01:07:55):
Lions Dan campbell felt great about the, wind but also
admitted afterwards there are things that they need to shure.
UP i love that attitude because it's so. True, right,
DEFENSIVELY i thought they were really, good but also, defensively
he understands that he's got two key GUYS Dj Reid
Terry On arnold who are limping a little. Bit here's

(01:08:16):
what he had to say after the Game.

Speaker 9 (01:08:19):
SUNDAY i don't you, know we all saw. Reads you,
KNOW i don't know this. HOW i don't know what
that's going to be or how. LONG i, mean CERTAINLY
i cannot imagine him playing next week at a minimum
until we get more tests. Done AND i don't THINK
ta is a major is a major thing NOW i
don't know There, AGAIN i don't know about him next,

(01:08:40):
week but it's certainly not as significant as as what.

Speaker 6 (01:08:45):
You know.

Speaker 3 (01:08:47):
Is What reid had.

Speaker 4 (01:08:49):
So and then we've already updated you on that what
can be done and how quickly can they Move we
know and we've told people. This i'm sure they know by.
Now tuesdays you because you're out of the. Building it's.
MANDATORY nflpa did a day off, rightfully so you're out
of the. Building management is there and they're bringing in
warm bodies to try, out not just because of, injuries

(01:09:12):
they're doing it to upgrade their. Talent, right should The
lions go out and make a phone call To Stefan
gilmour And Assante Samuel. JR i would, say.

Speaker 6 (01:09:25):
Yes, yeah those are two.

Speaker 4 (01:09:27):
Guys those are two free agents who have yet to.
Sign there are others whose names are connected with other
teams lagerious sneed for example that perhaps you could you
could trade, four but those two guys are free.

Speaker 5 (01:09:38):
AGENTS i would say This Dan, brad And brad does
a good job of saving money having money available for
whatever free agent he wants to, pay whatever guy that
they've drafted that they, pay whether it's you, know you
get the drift on that. One this is also what
that money is. For like you're in a situation right,
now where you have ONE dB who you're still not.
Showing he's still trying to he's still trying to find his.

(01:10:00):
Way yet he has nagging, growings you, know all the.
Time so you're trying to work through that. Space now
you have A. dB where was it just me or
when you were listening to Uh Dan campbell that podium
and he sounded like it was something, Serious like he
had a sound to him that sounds eerily familiar to
last year when we were dealing with some of the
more serious energy Like Alex. Anzeloni how long he was gonna?

(01:10:21):
Be he was, like and you, know obviously he took
a deep breath and looked. DOWN i haven't Seen Dan
campbell take a deep breath and look down in a
very long. Time so if you're talking about this guy
is going to be out that you. Paid this is your.
Guy this this was D marquis free agent that you
made WAS Dj reed and your other Guy Terrence. Hurt
because AS i just outlined for you the next three,

(01:10:41):
weeks you don't want to be in a position to
Where aiden's playing, well the defensive line is playing, well
they're doing all the things, necessary but then you have
lapses information like The philadelphia he was dead last year
they gave UP i, mean excuse, me yesterday they gave
a three wide open touchdowns or two wide open touchdowns
and another big play to where they just had a mental.
Lapse and this is what their. Starters you don't want

(01:11:02):
to put your defense in that type of position to
Where jack's playing, well the defensive line is doing, well
and Then kirby And Brian branch are trying to cover
extra because their guys are hurt or down or. Out
bringing some guys to know what they're. Doing and the
two that you May i've always loved to go On.
GILMORE i think you bring him. In, yeah he's, older
so what he's a, veteran he's a Former Defensive player

(01:11:22):
of The year and he would definitely be enough to
cover you through this. Time and he got the money to.
Spend don't allow you, know too injuries to play because
this is everything is. Pivotal it's an extra.

Speaker 4 (01:11:34):
Point we are so wrapped up and using that unspent
money on one specificity and this is what it's for.
Now how comfortable do they feel With Khalil dorsey and
Rock ya scene who are the backups at those two
positions would be great If terry And arnoll could be

(01:11:55):
back next. Week but from what we gathered In Dan
campbell's conversation there with the, media that would be a.
No and it's definitely a no FOR Dj read for
an extended period of.

Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
Time, YEAH i want to hit you out for a.
While and the backup thing is. Cool next man up
is definitely, cool all, right, cool next man? Up that
mentality The lions doing. Well guys Like paddle O'Connor And,
miawowski they show, up they make. Plays next man.

Speaker 6 (01:12:20):
Up but this is. Different this is kind of slightly.

Speaker 5 (01:12:25):
Different you're going into these battles potentially for a couple
of weeks with the backups being the. Starters there's a, reason, lady,
gentleman these guys are. Backups there's a reason WHY dB
IS dB. Three there's a reason WHY dB is four or.
Five there's a reason THAT dB that's four or. Five
he's not another starter.

Speaker 6 (01:12:42):
Waiting in the.

Speaker 5 (01:12:43):
Wings he's a guy that's not nearly as good as
guy one and two in this. Situation so word to the,
WISE i, Mean i'm always going out and get. Players
i'm not always trying to say, that But this is
just one where protect. Yourself is anything wrong with protecting?

Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
Yourself, no there's nothing wrong with it at. All it's
encouraged and you, know should be. Done this is not
a similar situation To Trevor nawawski making a nice tackle
on you, Know Lamar jackson last week and contributing to
the defensive pursuit, yesterday because those guys are not as
exposed as the.

Speaker 5 (01:13:14):
Corners, yeah one thousand. Percent they're on an island and
that's the reason why the revis. Island the island part
is because they're out there by. Themselves they're locked into
these wide. Receivers and IF Dj, reid who's your number
ONE dB as of right, now if he's not going
to be, there you got some names coming. Up you
have some names coming, up and at least somebody likes
to Find. Gilmour whether he gets cooked or, not he's

(01:13:35):
not worried about getting cooked in the line of.

Speaker 6 (01:13:36):
Scrimmans he's going to dial into his technique and he'll
be able to win some of those matchups or you,
know you've another, guy but, yes that's.

Speaker 4 (01:13:44):
Tough somebody in the chat said this Shut the problem,
though is The lions are in the red going into next,
year And brad is trying to carry over as much
money as he can into next. Year, look that may
be the, case BUT i don't think that is going
to prevent him right now from grabbing a guy who
might be a free agent and you know you're only
gonna use for a. Year and by the, way he's

(01:14:05):
fully aware of where they're going to save some money next.

Speaker 6 (01:14:08):
Year, YEAH i, say it sounds like you should have
waited to make a.

Speaker 4 (01:14:12):
Move sounds like he should have made it some.

Speaker 6 (01:14:17):
Extension he planned on, Making.

Speaker 4 (01:14:19):
Oh a certain. Extension that was the second time you
brought that up IN.

Speaker 5 (01:14:27):
I never said he should get extended before the end
of the, season BUT i wanted to see BECAUSE i
knew the type of numbers that you were talking.

Speaker 6 (01:14:34):
About that's only AS i say.

Speaker 4 (01:14:35):
It, Yeah, no it's. FAIR i do believe in fairness
to The lions though they know the. Player, yeah, okay
SO i think they may if you know they why? Not,
Yeah but but your your point's a valid, one, MAN i,
mean why do it if you don't have to just? Yet,
now people will use the counter argument to that with
a guy like And i'm not saying they're, Equivalent so

(01:14:57):
don't go nuts in the. Chat trek school got a
stend him right. Now you don't have to, Yet why would,
you because you know what you. Have perhaps The lions
know what they. Have that's the only. Point speaking of,
trek'schogle he and The tigers will begin Their Pursuitable World
series tomorrow In. Cleveland when we come. Back what about that,
celebration did you have an issue with? It and how

(01:15:18):
far can this team? Go we'll discuss that on The
Brailen edwards show when we come back after.

Speaker 8 (01:15:23):
This really, quick before we go to, break let's clean
up some of these super, chats so we appreciate everybody
contribute into the show today and in the. Future shout
Out Rando small's five dollars super chatter, Him, MAN i
look at. It, no he is definitely shot, Out. RANDO
i look at it, this look at it like, this
sh crazy. Clown AND i picked The tigers to get,
here so we are ahead of. SCHEDULE i picked The

(01:15:46):
tigers over The dodgers.

Speaker 4 (01:15:48):
In Six, wow well you are more optimistic THAN i,
am my. Friend first of, ALL i was wrong BECAUSE
i picked The tigers to win the. Division that's the
second straight. YEAR i picked them to win the division
and SO i was wrong, There BUT i did think they.
Would we said this on the air the other day On.
FRIDAY i thought they would come in as a wild.
Card very disappointed that they didn't win the, division but

(01:16:12):
them playing The dodgers in The World, series that would
be a stunner to.

Speaker 6 (01:16:16):
Me.

Speaker 5 (01:16:17):
SEVEN i know you're Not you're Very you're very, moral
intact type of individual THAT i respect a lot. You
this is now the second time you say you picked
The tigers last.

Speaker 6 (01:16:28):
Year you? DID i.

Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
DID i picked them?

Speaker 6 (01:16:31):
Lies, lies you tell no one picked The tigers and
winning the. DIVISION i.

Speaker 1 (01:16:39):
Did.

Speaker 4 (01:16:40):
NO i said before the, season before the, SEASON i
picked them to, win AND i picked them when they
were had a point zero two percent. Chance you, know,
OKAY i picked them before the year to win the.
DIVISION i picked them before this year to win the
division and BREAK i.

Speaker 6 (01:16:55):
GOT i got my sad. Right i'm just having a sad.

Speaker 8 (01:16:59):
POINT a lot of people thought that THE Al central
was garbage and that The tigers would have easy pickings with.
IT i think we were a year out on. That
but it's all, good, man it's all.

Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
Good But cleveland would argue, Though, yeah, okay But cleveland
would argue because they've played some pretty good balls on the.

Speaker 6 (01:17:14):
Stretch what year is this, Guy?

Speaker 8 (01:17:16):
Harris your three?

Speaker 5 (01:17:17):
Three, yep So Brad holmes and year three is that
THE Nfc championship?

Speaker 6 (01:17:22):
Game, yes, yes In San.

Speaker 4 (01:17:24):
Francisco.

Speaker 8 (01:17:26):
Yep it's a little different for. Us on The tigers,
side we'll talk about when you're.

Speaker 4 (01:17:30):
Back, yeah most definitely To, brilin he could say The
American league's wide. Open, NOW i REMEMBER i told you
the trade. Deadline seattle is the, team they're the two.
Seed we'll talk more about it on the other.

Speaker 8 (01:17:41):
Side, YEAH i can't wait to get your. Thoughts one
More Super race.

Speaker 6 (01:17:44):
Too, yeah that's a fun conversation, too because.

Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
It's a Legend raley. Thing, yeah it's.

Speaker 6 (01:17:49):
Nothing in the.

Speaker 5 (01:17:49):
Middle it's either you really think he deserves it or
you really.

Speaker 6 (01:17:53):
Can't believe that they would give it to anybody but.

Speaker 5 (01:17:55):
Him there's no like, WELL i MEAN i could see how, no, no,
no you're either fully On Aaron judge's side or you're
fully on the story.

Speaker 4 (01:18:03):
Side i'm not gonna have a problem with either one
who wins. It BUT i would vote for Cal. Rawley,
yeah you like the. Story, NOPE i think the position
matters to catch it and it's switch.

Speaker 8 (01:18:13):
Hitter, yeah that's all part of no shout out to
the big. Dumper he definitely dumped on us a couple of.
Times but we got one board super chat to clean
up before we get out of. Here shout out five
dollars from R. J graham And. BRAYLEN i don't like
the cradle catch and it bounces. Out why do wide
receivers go away from the triangle? Catch is it not

(01:18:36):
the best way to catch the.

Speaker 5 (01:18:38):
BALL a lot of individuals don't grow up with the
technique of the triangle catch or the high. Point fans
catch it here, here, here, here and it's like a,
clock you. Know it's like you start here and as
you get, here it, switches it goes, around and once
you get down to the waist when it opens. UP
a lot of people aren't taught. That you, know a
lot of people don't have that technique and they don't

(01:18:58):
have confidence in the. Hand it's like LIKE i HAVE
i don't know about put my family's business out here like.

Speaker 6 (01:19:03):
That some individuals just aren't comfortable.

Speaker 5 (01:19:06):
Catching with the, hands and so the body becomes the
way that they learn how to catch the ball and
they get good enough at doing.

Speaker 6 (01:19:12):
It so so it becomes.

Speaker 5 (01:19:14):
It but it's it doesn't give you room for air
if you missed the body catch, it but it hits
against the paths on. It it's bouncing out like if
you catch with your hands you. Can you see a
lot of people catch or tap it to themselves and
things of that.

Speaker 6 (01:19:26):
Nature so if.

Speaker 4 (01:19:27):
It's down here right around your, waist, YES i. REMEMBER
i Think Cooper cooper cup did this as well as
perhaps any Receiver i've seen down. Here he's always catching
the triangle. Catch you're not doing it that, Way you're
going right. There you're opening it Like i'm. OKING i got.
You there's no right or wrong.

Speaker 5 (01:19:43):
Way is what you're comfortable with to the bread Basket
and once it gets to the, waist that's WHEN i
switched to here.

Speaker 6 (01:19:49):
COPY i can't take.

Speaker 4 (01:19:50):
It very, cool, educational, great great. Conversation thank you for
that in the, chat and then we get to the
props going.

Speaker 8 (01:19:59):
With entertaining and. Educational But, braylan if people trying to

Playoffs you deserve after one hundred and sixty one games
at that, time to celebrate accomplishing one of the. Goals
what was your take on.

Speaker 6 (01:25:30):
Two thousand and.

Speaker 5 (01:25:31):
NINE i got traded to The, Jets we limped into the,
playoff got to THE Sc, championship lost to The.

Speaker 6 (01:25:38):
Coats all off season it was getting, back getting, back getting,
back getting.

Speaker 5 (01:25:43):
Back the pressure to get, back bringing in people doing different,
things you, know going through the season in which we
started off nine and two and then we played against
The New England patriots nine and, two nine and.

Speaker 6 (01:25:54):
Two i've told the story a. Manytime they beat us
forty nine to.

Speaker 5 (01:25:57):
Three then we lose some games along the, way and
now we go from expecting to win THE Afc east
for the FIRST i, mean it's the first time they
won THE Afc. East it's been like thirty forty. Years
like win THE Afc. East it's been the first TIME
i read one a. Division at the, Time i'm, excited
we're fighting for. It then we start having. Lapses then
we start losing games to teams we should have lost games.

(01:26:19):
Too and then we essentially go from winning the division
to the sixth seed or the fifth. Seed so we
not snuck, in but we were. Fifty it wasn't what we.
Thought we got there and win round. ONE i forgot
who we. Played, oh we played The, coats beat The
colts in round. One round two we played that very,
team The New England, patriots number one. Seed it's a

(01:26:42):
rematch against.

Speaker 6 (01:26:42):
Them beat them.

Speaker 5 (01:26:44):
Up pretty, BAD, bta as you guys like to. Say
and then we get to THE Fc. CHAMPIONSHIP i say
that to say. This the goal is to get to the.
Dance but the goal is to get to the. Dance
yes we want them to win the. Division yes we
want The tigers to. Winning yes we wanted to, say
yes we finally. Won let me say something, Else yes
we finally wanted the. Vision yes we're. Back yes we
did what we set out to. Do yes we got

(01:27:06):
the we won the. Division maybe get a one to two,
seed so now we get home fill advantage the whole nine.
Yards it didn't happen that, way but you still have a.
Chance you are in the. Dance it's one hundred and
sixty two, games you, KNOW i mean weeks they put in.
You how much time is spent listening to people like
us rambling about what you're not doing.

Speaker 6 (01:27:23):
Well and how you're falling, apart which is. True but
at the end of the, day they got in right
now when you were with The.

Speaker 5 (01:27:30):
Jacks, well it's. Different baseball has a different. Culture baseball
celebrates like. BASEBALL i don't know when they started six
seven years, ago but they pull out the, champagne they
pull out the. Goggles it's a part of. IT i
can't be mad if that's the. Culture it wasn't the
culture for in THE. Nfl to you, know when the
season's overheld some teams don't even play the last. Game
so it's a different. Culture but you're happy you're, in

(01:27:51):
because no one's having this conversation if in a couple
of weeks The tigers are in the second round of
the playoffs and now they have an opportunity to go
against Whoever seattle or, whatever or now they're in the
third round and they're in THE.

Speaker 6 (01:28:02):
Alcs so, NO i don't have a.

Speaker 4 (01:28:04):
Problem all, right neither DO. I what can we what
should we be focusing on the fact that this team
finished three and thirteen in their last, sixteen seven and
seventeen in the month Of, september and there's no team
that has done that and qualified for the playoffs to

(01:28:27):
have that battle of A September or should we be
focusing on the fact that at least they're there for
a second straight, year and they're playing a team they're
very familiar, with and they have played very tight throughout
the entire. Season and by the, way they went four
and two At, cleveland won and six Against cleveland at,
home so not terrible in that. Regard, yeah you'll focus on.

Speaker 5 (01:28:47):
IT i would just focus on the fact that we're
there and we're playing a team that we're very familiar. With,
now obviously this team is a band in our Existence
it has always been that way That Cleveland guardians when
they were The, indians it didn't.

Speaker 6 (01:28:56):
Matter it was the same. Thing they're banding our. Existence
but they're.

Speaker 5 (01:29:00):
There you, know The tigers looked like something last year
in the playoffs and they ever beat The, astros and
they looked like something against The guardians until they. Didn't
SO i would just be happy that we're in the.
DANCE i would be happy that the guy that you're
thinking about paying four hundred million dollars to is on
the mound tomorrow night to start that. SERIES i just
rock and roll from. There trust the guy that, Bit
trust the guy that has the world. Series trust the

(01:29:20):
guy that won a playoff series with that same team
last year that many people didn't think had any, talent
had a lot of, inexperience which they. Did they won
a playoff series and they were en route to winning
the second one until The guardians figured it. Out So
i'll just trust. That trust Aj, hins trust what you
saw last. Year this is two years in a, row
so season's. Over this is the postseason.

Speaker 4 (01:29:41):
Game win is tomorrow afternoon In, cleveland so we'll be
talking about and keep you up to speed on. It
The tigers, finishing AS i, mentioned seven to, seventeen the
worst record by a playoff team in the final month
of the season since The World series began in nineteen oh. Three,
god not the type. History, no it's also not the

(01:30:01):
type of history you. Want by losing what was a
fourteen Game when we say a fifteen and a half game,
lead it's. Fair, yeah it's not. Incorrect it was fifteen
and a half Allver. Cleveland cleveland was in fourth place,
though or third place because it Was minnesota And Kansas
city who were fourteen.

Speaker 6 (01:30:20):
Games they jumped them in.

Speaker 4 (01:30:21):
Sixth and they jumped all of. Them, yes What i'm
wondering from you is this last. Year remember zero point
two percent chance of making. It they make. It everybody
feels like we're playing the best baseball of. Anybody why not?
Us it's about momentum and that we've been playing playoff
baseball for over all. Fair, yeah, okay this Year cleveland

(01:30:46):
comes from historical significance. Down they have been playing really good,
baseball they've been playing playoff baseball for a, month and
there's all kinds of people, saying no way do we
lose To. Cleveland how do you balance?

Speaker 5 (01:30:59):
THAT i think people saying that are absolutely. Ridiculous, yeah
first and first and, foremost it's called.

Speaker 4 (01:31:06):
Fandom it'll be a different.

Speaker 5 (01:31:07):
Conversation, Though like right, now look they're, in it's. Optimism
no games have, started they don't start. Tomorrow your ace
of all aces right now is on the mound for.

Speaker 6 (01:31:16):
You there is a different.

Speaker 5 (01:31:17):
Conversation you, know they get swept in this camera if
they get swept by The guardians in their. Season now
we're having a different conversation when we come back in
ten days or, so because now we're gonna talk about the. Collapse,
now we're gonna talk about what you didn't do with
the trade. Deadline now we're gonna do. That but right,
now my mom is, said because you're.

Speaker 4 (01:31:36):
In and by the, way it's. Scooble and REMEMBER i
said this last. Week let's remember this USUALLY i mean the,
playoffs regular. Season this doesn't always. Happen, now you're always
going against the number one corner if he's. Healthy all.
Right in baseball sometimes because you hold guys back on,
starts it's not always ace against as maybe on opening,
day maybe the first, Week but in the, playoffs that's

(01:32:00):
what you're. Getting Gavin williams struck how twelve Thirteen tigers
last time he pitched and they Beat Terrek. Schouble Terrek
scooble goes Against Gavin williams. Again and as great as
it may be For detroit to be familiar With, Cleveland
Terrek school's last three starts now are going to be
against The Cleveland. Guardians he's on six days. Rest that's.
Great that's happened seven times this year And detroit is

(01:32:23):
four and one or he's four and, ONE i should,
say on six days rest this. Season that's a, BONUS i.
Know but the momentum, thing if you believe in, IT
i don't want to hear about it and how it
benefited you last year and now it doesn't matter this
year because it should Benefit cleveland if you believe in.

Speaker 5 (01:32:38):
Momentum WHAT i will say is Is terry school is
gonna find a way to Win game. One he's that
type of player you talk About. Fils that's the phills
THAT i have For Terry. Schoogle he is a sojio
and he will go out there and he will pitch
a hell of a.

Speaker 6 (01:32:49):
GAME i think you.

Speaker 5 (01:32:50):
Talk about him in the playoffs last year and how
the last game Against.

Speaker 6 (01:32:53):
Cleveland guess what he was. Doing he was tired as.

Speaker 5 (01:32:54):
Hell, yeah he was tired AS i don't know what
last year in the. Playoffs this right, now this, moment
he understands what this. REPRESENTS i told you every TIME
i see, him it's just the vibe THAT i get from.
Him he'll be down. In, man he's gonna win the
game to, marvelgardless bet the house.

Speaker 4 (01:33:09):
ON i think he's gonna be dialed. IN i think
he's gonna pitch really well. Too that doesn't mean they, win, Though,
yeah because.

Speaker 6 (01:33:15):
He'll go past, Six i'm telling, you, WELL i, Yeah,
HELL i hope. So But i'm saying it's gonna be
something specialist When i'm trying.

Speaker 4 (01:33:21):
To get out, there all, RIGHT i, MEAN i hope
you're right about. That i'm not gonna pat his ass
on the back just because he goes six innings.

Speaker 6 (01:33:26):
Though.

Speaker 4 (01:33:26):
No, right you talked About Jamison. Wood he's fair thirty million.
Dollars this dude's gonna command the amount of money that
no picture in the history of the league has ever seen.
BEFORE i want him longer than, six AND i want
him longer than.

Speaker 5 (01:33:39):
Seven you better also talk to the skipper because they're
the ones pulling him. Out you're, right but he can
only do, so you know as much as a, player
well now as a, pitcher there's only so much lip
you can.

Speaker 4 (01:33:48):
Have, no you're, right you're. Right but AS i mentioned On,
friday or actually the Last, WEDNESDAY i think you're at
your son's football Game, THURSDAY i said fifty sixty. Seas
you know WHAT i want to. SEE i want to
see him, say, hey you know, What you're not taking me.
Out this is my. Ballgame, hey everybody see twenty, nine
See detroit on the. Front this is who we. Are
i'm going back out. There that's WHAT i want to.

(01:34:09):
See fair going to say.

Speaker 8 (01:34:11):
Something, NAH i just wanted to, ask what do you
really expect from this? Team because To bray's, POINT i
have no problems with What Terror school was gonna. DO
i know he's gonna go out, There he's going to
pitch to the best of his, ability and we know
that to be a Cy young caliber. Pitcher but as
far as the rest of this team, defensively from an offensive,
standpoint in terms of run, support what are we really

(01:34:33):
supposed to expect from A tigers team that is LITERALLY
i hate to say limping into the, playoffs but we
just got to be real about. It they are limping
into the playoffs right. Now they're on the down.

Speaker 4 (01:34:43):
SLIDE i don't know how you can see anything. Else
you've lost thirteen in your last, sixteen you win seven to,
seventeen you're reaching this historical. MARKS i don't see how
you can see anything.

Speaker 8 (01:34:54):
Else, Yeah i'm not saying they don't have a, chance but.

Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
Oh, WHITE i think they have a very good.

Speaker 8 (01:34:58):
Chance they, DO i.

Speaker 4 (01:34:59):
DO i, MEAN i think they match up fine With.
Cleveland there's nobody in The cleveland line up outside Of
Jose ramier's your good Friend Stephen kuant to a certain
extent who the other. Day but the THING i, do
and it's not LIKE i like The, guardians but the
THING i do respect about. Them they find a flipping
way they. Do, okay you don't win as many games
as they won this year and come back to do

(01:35:19):
what they. Did if they don't have, grinders and they've
got a lot of.

Speaker 5 (01:35:24):
Them they. Do they got guys that can make. Plays,
man they got guys in the moments they make the.

Speaker 6 (01:35:31):
PLAYS i, agree.

Speaker 8 (01:35:32):
Is Jack flair to your day two?

Speaker 4 (01:35:34):
Starter not for, me who who would it?

Speaker 6 (01:35:36):
Be?

Speaker 8 (01:35:38):
Casey what about You bray saying.

Speaker 5 (01:35:44):
You know What i'm Going Casey, MYLES i learned my.
Lesson LIKE i tried to Trust Cooper cup last, WEEK
i tried to Trust Cooper. CUP i knew it was,
wise BUT i told, MYSELF i, said you know, What
i'm gonna start him one last. Time i'm gonna Leave
Romeo dibbs on the. Bench it comes back to one more.
Time i'm gonna Give Cooper cup of Chens and look what.

(01:36:04):
Happened he went out there and he did exactly WHAT
i knew he was gonna. Do as of right. Now
playoffs included last year For, Fleriy flertiy wasn't good in
the playoffs for The. Dodgers playoffs Included i'm looking at.
Everything give Me Casey mice right. NOW i feel like
he's built himself into some some momentum right.

Speaker 6 (01:36:20):
Now Gimme Casey. Mice.

Speaker 4 (01:36:21):
YEAH i don't. Know Jack flerty nearly as well As
Casey miz is one of those guys who wants this
opportunity To it doesn't mean he's got the same stuff
schoobled those because he. Doesn't not many guys, Do BUT
i think he is one of those guys who wants
to live in this and quite, honestly if you're looking at,
merit if you're looking at somebody who's earned, it who's
earned it? More, Yeah, OKAY i mean and if you

(01:36:44):
fall back on the experience, thing which sometimes drives me,
NUTS i would ask Why Jackson joe out of the
bullpen last year In? Houston that short experience? There, Yeah
and if that's the, case then you're telling me you're
gonna limit the number of guys who are going to
play this year in the playoffs who maybe didn't last.

(01:37:05):
Year Spencer, Torklessen, Right, Okay Dylan. Dingler those guys don't
have any experience in the. Postseason so to, ME i don't.
CARE i Think Casey mice will throw. STRIKES i think
he's got good. Stuff for the most. PART i worry
a little bit about How cleveland can manufacture runs and
How detroit's. Offense i'm more worried About detroit's offense THAN

(01:37:25):
i may be there starting pitching right.

Speaker 8 (01:37:27):
Now i've been screaming that show all since the trade.
Downline i've been, screaming, yeah it's.

Speaker 4 (01:37:32):
Bad, yeah and we gave on this. Show we gave
two weeks ago the numbers of The All stars always
not fear to put it on. Them but, look you
Used Jamison williams as the example earlier about how much
money these guys Are All? Stars where is? It Jack
flaherty not An All? Star but the twenty five million
dollars price tag comes up in, conversation does it?

Speaker 6 (01:37:50):
Not it?

Speaker 5 (01:37:50):
Does, yeah you still come up more as much as
you mentioned hobby byas that once to start coming up as.

Speaker 6 (01:37:55):
Well.

Speaker 8 (01:37:55):
Yeah, yeah last, question does the series go? Three it
does in favor OF.

Speaker 4 (01:38:03):
I want to see who's Pitching game?

Speaker 8 (01:38:05):
Three, okay fair. Enough i'll tell you. What if they,
lose the schoog will, Start sayonara, like back it. UP
i think they're. Done if they, lose the school will.

Speaker 4 (01:38:14):
START i would be just. Me, YEAH i think a
lot of it depends too for. Me for the, offense
if they are if they're doing some of the things
that what they did In september that they weren't doing In,
june that would bother. Me so if they're not taking
the extra, bag if they're throwing to the wrong, base
if they're doing certain things like, that that would concern
me as much as anything. ELSE i want to see

(01:38:37):
their offense try and break. OUT i want to see you,
know production throughout the, lineup AND i want to see
them getting runs home instead of going you, know three
for seventeen with runners in scoring.

Speaker 5 (01:38:46):
Position now here's the part right, there, man it's tough
watching the, broadcast, man and you see runners at the
corner and strike, strike, strike sit, down strike, strike, strike
sit down like bad pit swung. At it's just tough
when you're stranding, BECAUSE i, mean some people are trying
to do what they're supposed.

Speaker 6 (01:39:02):
To some people actually.

Speaker 5 (01:39:03):
Doing their jobs and they're not being rewarded with you
coming through to do your.

Speaker 6 (01:39:07):
Job SO i like.

Speaker 4 (01:39:08):
That, yeah, look AND i understand why some people feel
like the THE alcs can be, had THE Al championship
can be no. QUESTION i get. That, Toronto New york
two teams really, Good seattle the number two. SEED i,
MEAN i Thought ryan had it behind. Us how it's

(01:39:29):
going to match? Up The yankees are playing really good
ball right, Now like how many times have they done
up and how many times have they been? Down New
york's the four taking On New york or taking On
boston it's the hell of the. Start New york's won
nine to.

Speaker 5 (01:39:43):
Ten man, crazy how like Gian Carlos stanton always seems
to find his level around in The.

Speaker 6 (01:39:49):
September it's, true he always finds his way to the.

Speaker 4 (01:39:52):
Right maybe that's because he misses so much of the,
summer but that's.

Speaker 6 (01:39:55):
What i'm, Saying like around this, time he's always.

Speaker 3 (01:40:00):
They don't wake.

Speaker 4 (01:40:00):
Up, yeah and then same. Thing you know you got
you got some heavy hitters in. There and what's interesting,
Too cincinnati eighty three wins and they're IN i think
they're just the fourth team to ever do. That we
talk about how disappointing The tigers season has, been at
least they're in. There think about The, mets who had
spent three hundred and forty million dollars spend over seven

(01:40:23):
hundred million dollars on one dude and another, dude that
one of their second highest paid, Player Francisco, lindor is
watching his old team win another division without, Him and
think about their. Struggles they were On june, fifth they
had the best record in. Baseball since that, time they
had the fifth worst record in, baseball and they completely.

Speaker 5 (01:40:43):
Collapsed sometimes you throw money out a problem, man it
just doesn't work As texas in them about that right.
Now sometimes you just throw money out. There this is
not hit because you're not changing the money will. CALL i,
mean money's not changing the. Culture if you're not trying
to change that coachre it may's not had a bad. Culture,
yeah there's a lot of things that come out about The,
mets whether it's the, broadcast whether it's players where there's
little antics in the locker. Room my front off is

(01:41:05):
like you just hear things about The mets and you're, like,
AGAIN i had The, Mets.

Speaker 14 (01:41:09):
Dad.

Speaker 5 (01:41:09):
Again this is the first TIME i actually looked at
The tiger. Situation from everything that we talked, about this
is the first TIME i glanced AND i realized they
really blew it in This and just looking at the playoff,
graphic you're, like we were one the whole season a,
lot and then it was, two then it still.

Speaker 6 (01:41:26):
Was now it's, six.

Speaker 4 (01:41:28):
And this team could have benefited from a little bit
of a. BREATHER i, think, yeah maybe not in two
thousand and, six waited too long in The World, series
had a long time off SIX. D this team definitely
could have done that for. Sure the other THING i
wanted to bring Up ryan's got it for us and
it's about payrolls for.

Speaker 3 (01:41:43):
This.

Speaker 4 (01:41:43):
Now you AND i have talked about this with people
in the chat on a pretty regular. Basis our Friend Jensen,
lewis who does a really good job ON mlb radio
and with The Cleveland, broadcast sent this out On. Twitter
you see the rankings next to. Them i've said it
nausea THAT i Think detroit needs to be right around
one hundred and sixty million. Dollars that's where they're. At

(01:42:03):
but you see where it ranks. Seventeen look at the
teams that are a mid or Lower seattle in the,
Middle Cleveland deer down near the, Bottom milwaukee down near the,
Bottom cincinnati down. On cincinnat's got no, shot but they're
down near the. Bottom it's how you spend the, money
not how much money you.

Speaker 1 (01:42:22):
Spent.

Speaker 8 (01:42:22):
True i'll push back a little bit About. Brewers three
or four of those teams have a. SUPERSTAR i Mean,
toronto you know they Got Vlad, junior the big. Dumper In,
Seattle New, york they Have. Judge i'm just, saying And
julio and, yeah oh, YEAH.

Speaker 4 (01:42:43):
I wouldn't call the big, dumper which is Cal, raley
folks should be THE. MVP i wouldn't call him a
superstar maybe this. Year, YEAH i was about to say
he's about to BE. Mvp, sure, yeah, yeah but that
this is what we wouldn't have said that at the
beginning of the. Season IF i put these numbers up
AND i, said who's got the super Star, seattle you
would have Said Julio, Rodriguez, right you would not have

(01:43:03):
said Cal rollin. True, okay but you're you're, right Who's boston?

Speaker 8 (01:43:07):
Superstar they don't have. One man if you consider him a,
SUPERSTAR i. Don't but that's what he's a Good he's
a damn good player in.

Speaker 6 (01:43:15):
That, case that. Superstars, yeah but that's the.

Speaker 4 (01:43:20):
Problem, Well, philadelphia Who's they've got a lot of supers
and they do, okay The dodgers have a lot of.
Superstars who's The? Cubs, Yeahstrong Kyle. Tucker their superstars have.

Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
Left those are.

Speaker 4 (01:43:31):
Really good, Players but are they?

Speaker 8 (01:43:32):
Superstars San diego they have, superstars But Fernando Tatist, Junior,
yeah you, KNOW i, like, yeah, okay so how many
of them really do have?

Speaker 4 (01:43:43):
It there's probably more up there if you want to
use that that.

Speaker 8 (01:43:46):
Truth but when we're looking at, THAT i just compare
our rosters to those top teams that you have named.
There it's not even. Close and a lot of you
can argue they're better than The. Yankees you can maybe
argue better than The Red, Sox But, Cleveland, Seattle, TORONTO
i don't know if those if The tigers beat those,
LINEUPS i don't you.

Speaker 4 (01:44:05):
Think cleveland's got a better lineup than The.

Speaker 8 (01:44:06):
Tigers they sure know how to beat Our you know,
WHAT i didn't.

Speaker 4 (01:44:09):
SAY i agree with, That but, overall you think they
got a better roster than The.

Speaker 8 (01:44:13):
Tigers whenever we go ahead to, head they seem to
have the better.

Speaker 4 (01:44:15):
Outlook, well if that's the, case then The tigers should
have a better roster than The, yankees since they went
head to head to, head, right.

Speaker 8 (01:44:21):
AND i do top from top to. BOTTOM i think
they have a more complete roster than The. Yankees but
The yankees Have Aaron judge in the middle of, it
And John Carlos stanton and somebody's other.

Speaker 4 (01:44:29):
Names so, yeah they've had some they've had some guys
who've really sed top. Forward when we come, back we
get the mail bag going and we got more, chats
including super. Chats brailin also has to get something off
his chest regarding The Ryder.

Speaker 5 (01:44:40):
Cup to talk about the lines a little bit more
like they won. YESTERDAY i deserve to talk more about.
Them but there's a, player there's a player that did
something last. WEEK i highlighted In braylan's. Breakdown something happened
for him in the game. Yesterday we'll talk about that
when we Get.

Speaker 4 (01:44:55):
Now Remember braylan did three, breakdowns so he's forcing.

Speaker 6 (01:44:59):
Mannis, well that's.

Speaker 4 (01:45:00):
Right we gotta gotta think about it a little. Bit all,
right three lions, breakdowns four. Overall that's when we come
back on The Breiln Edward.

Speaker 8 (01:45:07):
Show, hey let's talk About Lady.

Speaker 4 (01:45:08):
Jans, yeah let's do, That Lady. JEANS i was just
out there watching some of those young ladies take care

neil on that coffee? Beat also thoughts On lions possibly
calling The seahawks About Tarik wooland in the.

Speaker 4 (01:50:15):
Trade i've heard that, name SO i would love.

Speaker 5 (01:50:18):
That, Yeah Like Tarika woolan is THE dv that is
nice and, smooth like he's drafting the same class As.
Wetherspoon obviously he turned up your one and he's been a, solid,
solid solid W seattle for the last three.

Speaker 6 (01:50:29):
Years it's Also National. Coffee how your nigg on the

we know you're good for, it AND i never worry about,
that Thank. God it's not like a.

Speaker 8 (01:50:58):
Friend, no.

Speaker 4 (01:51:03):
That's what good friends. Do in The, Wizards Terry, SEINFELD
i don't need any more new. Friends But i'm just.
KIDDING i do have a buddy at the gym who
last year we bet on the Two packers games and
we bet. Lunch he still hasn't paid me back last.

Speaker 6 (01:51:18):
Year two, lunches two.

Speaker 4 (01:51:20):
Lunches so that's a that's a story for a different.
Time you Mentioned Rick wolland From. Seattle there's a this
is a, reach a little bit of connection. There lions
coaches were coaching The Senior bowl in twenty twenty two
when he was, there so they had to look at.
Him what About Greg. Newsom that's another, Name. Miketon the
sports brought his name up today on Eighties he Sports

(01:51:43):
Mike peyton does a really good job covering the lines as.
Well he said they just saw. Him that might be a.
Possibility he's expecting a pretty hefty. Contract he's at the
end of his. Deal maybe that might be a band
aid situation for them as wells can.

Speaker 5 (01:51:59):
Play newsome definitely can. Play but watching Them, NORTHWESTERN i
want to say we came out of five years. Ago
they've had some good people in the secondary over Like
denzel War weirdness and they have TO dB from FROM
lsu a couple of years. AGO i can't think of.
It yeah They dope is still. There, yeah still there
another guy as, well But newsom can. PLAY i like him.

(01:52:20):
Too he's a, cover he's a man and man. Guy
lions like going. Man they appreciate going. Man and he's
a guy that doesn't mind the smoke when you go
man and. Man so keep in mind for that, too
and that's.

Speaker 4 (01:52:29):
Been the problem For terry On. Arnold All, Right yester
Or thursday Or. Friday we Did brayley's breakdown There, Thursday, Thursday,
thursday that's. Right we kept talking about it was, fantastic
just part of the break that there was something there
that you wanted to come back to.

Speaker 5 (01:52:44):
See when you're a team, guy when you do all the,
things your team rocks with. You when you block for your,
teammates your teammate wants to block for. You last, week
there was a play With David montgomery took. Off you
guessed it for the seventy seven. Yards right on that,
play we noticed Amar Ron Saint brown was supposed to
Take Kyle, halton but Because Khalif raymond was so.

Speaker 6 (01:53:04):
Excited he couldn't let all might have.

Speaker 5 (01:53:07):
Him he ran through there bunch, formation ran Past amarun
and he Smacked Kyle. Halilton and you See Kyle halton
fall on the right side of the. Bunch Dave montgomery's
out the. Backside that is taking care of your, teammate
Like Khalif, Raymond Kyle, hamilton you just do the size,
measure didn't care knocked him. Out it's a football player
making a football play fast. Forward he makes one move

(01:53:29):
and then he's out to your. Touchdown but when you
watch that, touchdown watch how the guys are blocking for,
him how guys are engaged. In watch how the lanes
were protected so he could do The Khalif raymond stuff
and score a. Touchdown shout out To leif for getting
an ends. One and to be, honest it came at
a good time because The lions really won't put up
any points in the fourth. Quarter the game wasn't any
in the balance or anything like.

Speaker 6 (01:53:50):
That, however they were.

Speaker 5 (01:53:51):
Stalling that gave them a joke of energy right on,
Time Kalif.

Speaker 6 (01:53:55):
Raymond but when you. Block when you do the team,
stuff it comes back to.

Speaker 5 (01:53:59):
You everybody wins when the team, wins and his touchdown
was an example of.

Speaker 4 (01:54:04):
That since being a member of The. Lions in his,
returning HE'S i believe number one in THE nfl and
return yar.

Speaker 5 (01:54:11):
Three in terms of. Return, yeah he was missed. Too
there's another player having the playoffs last.

Speaker 4 (01:54:17):
Year and you know, what that was a hell of a.
Return that wasn't your simple straight. Line i'm getting some,
blocks a couple moves.

Speaker 6 (01:54:24):
Here he made that return.

Speaker 5 (01:54:25):
Happen they blocked for, Him they did the other, stuff
but that was A Khaliff raymond making something happen in
type of return as.

Speaker 4 (01:54:31):
Well good. Stuff let's get to the mail. Bag that's
a great, point, man that's exactly NOW i remember. IT
i mean you were.

Speaker 6 (01:54:39):
Talking About heilton on that player not without a.

Speaker 4 (01:54:41):
Hesitation, yeah all, right what have we got in the mailbag? There,
O kg.

Speaker 8 (01:54:45):
Yup shout out To charles McClain in The chad mail.
Bag seems like The lions have had more injuries since
changing the. Turf so could it be the turf or
the training staff that is the?

Speaker 4 (01:54:57):
Problem great question for.

Speaker 5 (01:54:59):
You that turf Is, look that turf has been the
topic of discussion for a very long, time AND i
don't think it's going. Anywhere The lions also, too that's
one of the older field turfs in THE. Nfl it's
one of the older. Ones a lot of injuries starting to,
happen all that. STUFF a lot of. Players Darius slay
complained about it before he left, here but there are
a lot of players that have complained about and there
are a lot of injuries that have. Happened it's in

(01:55:21):
an ongoing conversation with the league every year between the
field turf and with the dude and the.

Speaker 6 (01:55:25):
Grass that's why you just don't want.

Speaker 4 (01:55:28):
What would you rather? PLAY i, Mean Malik neighbors was,
hurt he's off for the.

Speaker 6 (01:55:31):
Year.

Speaker 14 (01:55:31):
Yeah Bermuda, Giants bermuda, Grass bermuda, Grass bermuda glass especially
like kind of how allegiant they roll it, out they
roll it, Back arizona, cartners they roll it, out they
roll it.

Speaker 5 (01:55:41):
BACK i, mean unless you can Get lambo imported in
outside of. That, yeah That bermuda grass because it has
turf like elements but also grass to a certain. Extent
you can, run you can, fly you can. FALL i
would Prefer bermuda, grass especially for a team like The lions.

Speaker 6 (01:55:58):
That are a speedy.

Speaker 5 (01:55:59):
Team, YEAH i, mean and you're talking about you're talking
about a hefty feet to do something like.

Speaker 4 (01:56:04):
That but, WELL i, mean, LOOK nfl team's got the.
MONEY i, mean if we're.

Speaker 17 (01:56:09):
Talking in, space if they all got, It Like i've said,
before if you care about the product on the, field
if you care about the people who are playing your
game and promoting your game on a regular, basis things.

Speaker 4 (01:56:22):
Like, THIS i would like to at least to have the.
Conversation you know, what it's not with. Me i'm talking
about Grab Braillen edwards and the. People if your ill can, say, hey,
yeah what's the best to play? On forget the scientific
facts and all this other. Stuff, okay forget about the
people Love fair Of. State but they've got that, turf
you know that that major in turf and all that other.

(01:56:42):
Stuff bring in the players and ask them what is
best on your.

Speaker 6 (01:56:47):
Body they don't even have to bring the players in
because they have the.

Speaker 5 (01:56:49):
Players look at all the injuries they had last year
and all the guys they've been. Around just ask their own,
guys what would you prefer to play. On that goes
back to the conversation about, money, though shut because If
I'm i'm Just i'm just jumping in their heads real,
Quick i'm jumping in the mind of an owner.

Speaker 6 (01:57:03):
In THE nfl.

Speaker 5 (01:57:03):
Franchise If i'm gonna spend two hundred and seventy million
dollars to create a If i'm gonna spend two hundred
and seventy million dollars for any any addition expansion to
my to my my, stadium my, ARENA i want it
to look like. It and if they're gonna spend three
hundred million dollars just so that the grass rolls are, perfect,
now it works to the, players it works for the.

Speaker 6 (01:57:24):
Players it's best for the.

Speaker 5 (01:57:25):
Players but is this noticeable enough for the, outside for
the fans and everybody else to sing three hundred million.

Speaker 4 (01:57:31):
In now in addition to, that knowing that you have
other events take place at that, facility and they're all
multi papers facilities these, days it's something that has to
be taken into consideration.

Speaker 6 (01:57:40):
And then there that's the question and that's the.

Speaker 4 (01:57:42):
Answer so, yeah anything, else.

Speaker 8 (01:57:44):
But, yeah we do shout out To. Randos small's not
necessarily a, question but a. Statement mail. Bag we always
see players pick up their games in the. Playoffs The Rogers, sweeney's,
McKinstry's and mil tens come up with a big hit
or strikeout to save the game or.

Speaker 3 (01:58:00):
Three.

Speaker 8 (01:58:01):
Watch it always happens for their. SAKE i hope.

Speaker 6 (01:58:04):
SO i appreciate. THAT i hope.

Speaker 5 (01:58:06):
So but we can't say we always see it because
we only saw it once and that was last. Year,
yeah it was on last. Year so it's not like
we have four or, five, six seven years of playoff
experience where their players come up in the. Moment last,
Year he's absolutely. Correct every time you turn THE tv
on there was another player making a play that was, like,
whoa could you believe this? Guy that was last year

(01:58:27):
and that was the first and only time so to
happen again this.

Speaker 6 (01:58:31):
Season then we can, say, oh you know, what they
always didn't figured it.

Speaker 4 (01:58:34):
Out, YEAH i mean to your. POINT i mean that's
why there are names Like Ben zobras And Pablo sandoval and, yeah,
man never forget MVPs Of Edgar renterias Of World Series
Tommy edmund last year in THE nlcs for crying out
loud and they picked him off the off the sidewalk,

(01:58:55):
Right so you see, that who would that be for The?
Tigers that might had a pretty good discussion for The
Brelan edwards.

Speaker 5 (01:59:01):
Show SORRY i. WINCED i just Saw elak NEIGHBORS.

Speaker 6 (01:59:06):
Acl, yeah that.

Speaker 5 (01:59:08):
Was and the reason WHY i went is because it's
the same exact way THAT i tore MY acl my rookie.

Speaker 6 (01:59:15):
Year it was weight.

Speaker 5 (01:59:16):
Displacement LIKE i went up and was about to come
down on my right. Leg, however my right leg got
caught under the DB's leg so it. Slid so when
my left leg touched, down it touched down with all
the pressure that the right leg was ready to, absorb
but the left leg.

Speaker 4 (01:59:34):
Wasn't and how long did it take you to come?

Speaker 6 (01:59:35):
Back six?

Speaker 5 (01:59:36):
MONTHS i was back doing, everything but LIKE i started
to see Seventh. December fourth surgery Was january, two Started september.
Eleventh but the mental aspect of, it LIKE i said,
earlier we had this, conversation wasn't until About november of
that year to WHERE i was, like, OKAY i can jump,
up jump up and down and do the.

Speaker 4 (01:59:53):
Things and he did it without a cowboy hat, then
but he did the show with a cowboy hat. Today
