Hy, what's going on everybody?

Speaker 3 (00:51):
I hope you had a great weekend and I hope
you got a busy week ahead. I know for sure
we do here at the Braillan Edwards Show. He is
in the house looking well that anyway, the shirt is
rather scary too. Late is here with us? Ryan is
here as well. We're glad you are join us in
the chat. Be loud, be proud, be opinionated. That's the

(01:11):
stuff we love to hear about. I hope you had
a good weekend, my friend.

Speaker 6 (01:14):
I were you doing well? Man, I had a great weekend.

Speaker 7 (01:16):
So I note I'm a Michael Myers guy over everybody,
but I saw this Jason Boye Sharton couldn't pass it up.

Speaker 6 (01:21):
So Halloween is very much here. It was great weekend.

Speaker 7 (01:25):
I got a chance to spend some time with family,
got a chance to relax. Friday night, I got a
chance to go to an arbor and go to Tommy
Carr's game. So the Smoothie King High school athlete the
week from last week, Tommy Carr, we got a chance
to go see him. QB one for Selene and he
and the squad did not disappoint.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Glad.

Speaker 7 (01:41):
I got a chance to go to the game double
back and went to the game on Saturday and then arbor,
so went up there.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
How long as you're staying at the Michigan game.

Speaker 6 (01:48):
It's so funny.

Speaker 7 (01:49):
So where our park at you're looking at you're looking
at potentially the wide receiver of the coach of the future.
Like I'm looking at I'm looking at this picture ship
and I was looking at the insights I'm like you
not so coaching a little bit, no, but could you
really though, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
You think you would be able to coach Bray.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
I'm for it to handle those people who don't aren't
as committed as you were.

Speaker 7 (02:19):
And that's why the level was hard to start before college,
like that level would have to start before college or
just a consultant work and kind of see you know
that usually when coaches are trying to figure it out,
you'll get coaches or you'll get programs that to bring
former athletes in or former players bring them in springball
now where you get a chance to shadow the coaches.
You're kind of there on the weekends and it's see

(02:39):
if it's something that you really want to dive into.
Or many training camp they'll let you come in do
some weeks. So we'll see next year, but I think
it could be in the future.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
What's the most what's the most what's the biggest downside.

Speaker 5 (02:54):
You think of coaching? It's it's the time it's recruiting to.

Speaker 7 (02:57):
Get fired, you know. I mean, I guess once you
get in there, it's fine. You can always find a job,
but you got to match somebody's personality because whoever's hiring
is going to be the head coach, and you have
to move to the beat of their drum. Like if
you got a guy that's there till one, two, three
in the morning and there's a hard ass and it's
just one of those guys. That's what's going to be
coming down that pipeline on a day to day basis,
and you know what you're signing up for. So for me,

(03:20):
it would be the time and the personality of the
head man. So I would have to align myself with
the right task, if you will.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Eric Campbell's a great dude. They call him Soup. So
he was at Michigan, went to Purdue, came back to Michigan.
You're really good friends with him. How much have you
consulted him in that regard?

Speaker 7 (03:38):
I'm starting to open it up to him and suits.
So he's going to ask you the first thing, are
you ready? He said, because the lot comes with it.
You can't have stuff, but you can't put one foot in.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
You can't.

Speaker 7 (03:46):
You know, you're talking about working with kids, for lack
of a better word, of young men. So you got
to put the time in because if they're putting time in,
you got to match that energy.

Speaker 6 (03:55):
So I know what's.

Speaker 7 (03:56):
Coming from suit. That's why he'll be the last person
that I have this conversation. When I go to soup,
I'm gonna be leaning towards wanting.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
To do it.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
That'd be a hell of a schedule, man, I mean
doing the Brailean Edwards Show from two to four and
then hustling Dan Arbor and making sure you're coaching all
those guys.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
That's a really tough schedule.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
But we uh, they would be wise to at least
come on your door, that's for certain, you know what
I mean.

Speaker 5 (04:18):
So I'm glad you had a good time.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
I know you.

Speaker 3 (04:22):
But how long did you stay? Because you always say
that you're you're out you want to beat the traffic.
So did you make it past halftime? Did you make
it all the way through the third quarter?

Speaker 5 (04:31):
What was the limit? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (04:32):
I was legitimately had my feet on the couch by
two oh five, really like two fifteen.

Speaker 6 (04:38):
I'm out. I don't play any games.

Speaker 7 (04:40):
So I left a minute before half and then got
to my car apart right across the street and then boom,
little conversation here or there, A couple of people saying
what you said Ryan earlier?

Speaker 6 (04:52):
You got to tell the people what you said, Oh
make more sense.

Speaker 8 (04:55):
I mean I think everyone would agree with what I'm
about to say, is Braylen, can you turn back the
clock little bit and go shoot back up in the
wing helmet and be a.

Speaker 7 (05:03):
Wide receiver for this Michigan offense. I mean number one
did his thing. Finally they got the ball to Doamond
McCauley down to feel a little bit. He looked like something.
It looked like a wide receiver player to make some plays.
So excited to see that. But before that, I heard that,
and be honest, I can get tired of hearing it,
but not because of wanting to come back. The fact
that they feel like we need a wide receiver, the

(05:25):
fact that they don't feel like the wide receivers that
we have are adequate enough. So get tired of hearing it,
and you want to see some more players. You want
them eventually open up in such a manner where it
looks good. But young quarterback, they're still trying to figure
this process out. But it did look promising seeing Diamon
McCauley go over one hundred yards have his first touchdown
as a wide receiver.

Speaker 6 (05:43):
University of Michigan. So we'll start there.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
What I saw a video of one of the games
yesterday and they had all the Ohio State wide receivers.

Speaker 5 (05:53):
It's the Tampa Seattle That's what it was.

Speaker 6 (05:55):
Yeah, all the game alone.

Speaker 3 (05:57):
I mean they they have got so many good players
at that position in the National Football League. And I
was thinking of I was thinking about you. I'm going,
Where's where's the Michigan contingent? Michigan State used to have
a ton of dudes in the National Football League at
that position. Why can't where's the draw? Why can't they

(06:18):
draw anybody in that record?

Speaker 7 (06:19):
Because Michigan has always valued the running back position. And
then oh, by the way, we'll get some wide receivers
to add to help on. And for years you had
really good wide receivers come out of University of Michigan
to go with that running game, whether it was Derrick
Alexander h pair it with Tyrone Wheeley, who was freaking awesome.
I was watching some of his highlights recently. But neither
the long story. I know, the Lions won and all

(06:40):
the other good stuff. At the end of the day,
they had such good running backs, such good offensive linement
that they didn't paid attention to the receiver like that.
After I left after Jason evand left after Mario Manningham
shot de Rio, Like after these wide receivers leave, you're like, oh,
well we got the running game, and then Michigan changed.
Now Lloyd's gone, so now you don't have the Breler

(07:00):
never was the Jason Obonce and David Terrell's mixed in
with the Mike Harts and the A trains. Now you
have Rich Rod Rich Rod comes here for four years
and he changed it up. You have this offense that
he's doing in the spread running. He didn't care about
the wide receivers.

Speaker 5 (07:14):
He leaves.

Speaker 7 (07:15):
Here comes Brady Hope, Brady Holk love Brady Hoape to death,
but not necessarily undering the wide receiver space, just trying
to make it about the running back. So it took
a while, or it's taking a while to get back
to it.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
I don't think even Harbor.

Speaker 7 (07:27):
Harbor didn't necessarily focus on like stud elite wide receivers.
And then I think you get to a point where recruiting,
what five star wire recruit wide receiver wants to come
to Michigan when they're going to.

Speaker 6 (07:38):
Run the ball behold game now.

Speaker 7 (07:40):
No, no, not now, I'm saying from I'm here.

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Yeah, what I'm saying is they might change a little
bit now that Bryce Underwood's under center.

Speaker 7 (07:49):
Just a matter being seventeen watching that Penn State Michigan
game from two years ago, and you're the five star
wide receiver, you're number one in the country and number
two in the country. You're thinking about nil money, the
things that you're gonna do, how you're gonna affect the
landscape of college football. And you're recruited by Michigan either.
Oh yeah, Michigan's they're number one in the country. This
thing and the third They also ran the ball thirty
eight times in the second half. No, thank you, no,

(08:11):
thank you. Yeah, you can't even get mad.

Speaker 9 (08:13):
I'm almost with Ryan Man. I'm like, yo, look, it
looks like you could play right now, but.

Speaker 7 (08:19):
Once it's important. Backs, elbows, they had siadi and all
that type of stuff.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
But the outside looks good.

Speaker 3 (08:32):
We've got some immediate uh super chats, so I want
to make sure we get to those right away. Uh
TeV sauce to two dollars super chat. Thank you smashed
that like jet j E T S Jets Jets.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Jets.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
This is what they said in there. The Jets are
They're awful. Uh, They're zero to five. They're the only
team in National Football League history to start own five
or worse and have no takeaways.

Speaker 6 (09:00):
Awful.

Speaker 7 (09:01):
I will say this, just get get this out of
the way. One of that one time and one time only.
I love this show. I love all the comments. I
will not be talking about Mark said says to day.

Speaker 6 (09:09):
He is my brother. I love him to death.

Speaker 7 (09:11):
So that comment was about Mark, You're not gonna get
anything out of me.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
I'm not sure it was. I think it was about.

Speaker 7 (09:15):
Time, but I just want to make the comment in
general for sure, because I know it gets fun and
it's had and all that. I just want to throw
where my mind set is that I love my brother,
he's doing well. I have nothing to say about the matter,
and that's final.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
I would I would never bring broach that that with you.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
It is.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
It is interesting that the Jets and we both believe
in Aaron Glenn. I don't know how long it takes
for you to stop believing or me to stop believing.
They look lost, they look like there there's no enthusiasm whatsoever.
This is an outsider's perspective. I'm not a practice. You
were at practice earlier this year, training camp again. I

(09:51):
think he's It shows you just how difficult it can
be to I hate the phrase change of culture, but seriously,
get get everybody on the same page. You get the
right people in there. It took Dan Campbell some time.
They stuck with him. We've talked about this before with
the patients. We were trying to decide who's going to
be more impactful. Ben Johnson, Aaron Glenn, some people. You know,

(10:12):
it was almost split. Aaron Glenn has not had the
impact that I think a lot of people expected him
to have when he went to New York.

Speaker 6 (10:19):
Yeah, but what an impact is that?

Speaker 8 (10:22):
Like?

Speaker 6 (10:22):
What is that impact?

Speaker 7 (10:23):
And the reason why I asked that question the same
thing that Dan Campbell face a team in the Detroit
Lions that have been miserable forever, that have been bad
for a ten year period, and you look at the
totality of it, just a bad franchise overall. It took
some time to kind of revamp that thing. You know,
he started off, oh eleven, let's not forget that start
off on eleven. But he had an owner in Sheela

(10:44):
hamp that say, hey, look, you're my guy.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
She doubled down when he was on eleven.

Speaker 7 (10:50):
That went a long way, and he knew he had
time to build this thing out the right way.

Speaker 6 (10:54):
With Brad Holmes.

Speaker 7 (10:55):
I'm not sure if Aaron Glenn knows he has that,
because you got a lot of things that are happening
that there's only so much a coach can control, and
there's a lot happening that on the players. He's got
to get rid of some of those players to really
build the infrastructure that he wants because a lot of
guys have had four three four head coaches, a lot
of guys I don't once you lose one game, once

(11:15):
you lose two, here we go again, same old guys,
the same old thing, And those are the guys you
need to get rid of because it's not the same
old thing.

Speaker 6 (11:22):
How many of those guys said that.

Speaker 7 (11:24):
When Dan Campbell was here and they were on four,
on five, on seven, and Taylor Decker stood up and said,
shut up, we don't want guys like you here.

Speaker 6 (11:33):
This is what it's gonna be. And those guys are
no longer here.

Speaker 7 (11:36):
So it would be interesting to see what the makeup
of the Jets looks like next year because there's a
player that they can send to Detroit and Aaron, we
appreciate you greatly because we need some dbs. Go Henson,
sauce guard in the back home. You know what I'm
saying that Rob, go Henderson, sauce guard in the back home.
Let me know what that ticket is. Call me on myself.

Speaker 6 (11:58):
We'll get to you.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
Yeah, we've got.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
To figure out if it's the sauce gardener of last
year the sauce gardener.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
Of two years ago, because last year he won very good.

Speaker 7 (12:06):
Well the sauce gardener this year, Like I watched him
on George Pickings, I forgot George Pickens was in the
game and to the very end he caught that touchdown,
he had that big play to the very end like
he had George Pickens on Lock.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
I thought you're gonna say Brandon Stevens, to be honest
with it, because he's been pretty good too. I mean
they've got a couple of pieces, you know. Obviously Breeze Hall,
Garrett Wilson is part of it. I think Stevens is
a good player. Jamie Sherwood's had a pretty good year
as a linebacker.

Speaker 6 (12:34):
But yeah, Reesaw is a part of that.

Speaker 7 (12:35):
Yeah, you can't call people out during the week, which
is very which for how they came.

Speaker 6 (12:40):
At Brees Hall.

Speaker 7 (12:41):
He's shouldering the load. He's saying some things. Maybe he
shouldn't have said what he said. However, it got out
there and we get that, right, you can't then proceed
to go into the game and fumble and drop passes.

Speaker 5 (12:50):
That's right.

Speaker 7 (12:51):
I don't know what's going on in the league right
now at the running back position, not this city, but
fumbles and drops have been a part of every team's makeup.

Speaker 6 (13:00):
Football.

Speaker 7 (13:00):
That was a note I made to start the show.
I watched every single game red zone influence, but I
started with the morning show. I started with the Minnesota
Vikings and the Cleveland Browns. Fumbles, illegal men, downfield, holding ms,
not lining up on sides. That happened to us too.
He had a hell of a game. But Big ninety
seven lined it up outside what is.

Speaker 5 (13:22):
Going on too? Away from them?

Speaker 6 (13:23):
It did what is going on with.

Speaker 7 (13:25):
The sloppy football around the NFL? Is it because you're
making the league younger, You're getting rid of the.

Speaker 6 (13:30):
Old guys like you're doing basketball.

Speaker 7 (13:31):
You got a bunch of guys that are coming in
from college where they're not coached up the right way,
where they don't get the fundamentials of fundamentials, the fundamentals,
and they're going from school to school to school making
it about them, and they come in here and they
don't have the fundamentals. Like I'm just saying, it's a
lot of sloppy football. And that's just my guess.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
No, Look, I respect the hell out of it.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
I just don't how much is it that with the
young guys, Like I'm the rules, Well, how there's a
lot of veterans who don't remember rules either. I mean
even like overtime rules. But I think your point.

Speaker 7 (14:09):
The lead doesn't do a good example letting us know
what the rules are that happened in the Lion's game.
I never heard that penalty before where that played?

Speaker 6 (14:15):
With the drop kick?

Speaker 7 (14:17):
Yeah, with the drop the NFL messes up on the rules. Hey,
coach Kyle Sanahan didn't know what the overtime rules were
here to ago.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
That's that's an excellent point, But I'm trying to decide
the young guy debate we all want for some reason,
there's a lot of us who really want the young
guys in an organization that isn't very good. If the
organizations have very good, you want the young guys to play.
If the organization's good, we want veterans to lead the way.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
Right.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
And I sit there and I think about that, and
I'll just I'll use it in baseball, for example, for
some reason, it's okay Cam Schlitzler of the Yankees can
go out there and start a big game when he
had only fourteen starts.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
And he can start Game.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
Three, the most important game of the Yankees season against
Boston against another guy who had four career starts.

Speaker 5 (15:10):
And Connelly early.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
That's not a problem. Trey Ya Savage last night for Toronto.
He had eleven strikeouts. The kid was he's twenty two
years old, he had three starts.

Speaker 5 (15:25):
He was a first round pick two years ago. That's it.
In twenty twenty last year, in twenty twenty four out
of East Carolina.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
When do I decide that the young guys should play
because we do that with quarterbacks?

Speaker 6 (15:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:37):
When when do I decide the young guy needs to
sit and learn because he's not smart, he's not experienced
enough with today's game, whatever sport.

Speaker 7 (15:47):
Yeah, I get what you're saying, I'm saying the problem
is it's a it's all young guys. Like when you
look at these rosters now, how they construct it Like
it's becoming younger and younger and younger.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
You're old on a roster.

Speaker 7 (15:57):
If you're twenty five, twenty five, they're still trying to
figure you know what out. Like at twenty five, I
was in my fourth year trying to still figure the
league out after already making your Pro Bowl, still trying
to figure the league out, still trying to figure out
exactly where I was in that state. Now it's just
a bunch of young guys. When I was playing, it
was hell at old guys. Thirteen fourteen, fifteen sixteen, I
played with Ted Washington. Ted Washington was a year seventeen

(16:20):
wow when I played with him in the Cleveland Browns. Now,
everybody's young, everybody's worrying about what they got doubted. Unless
you're with an organization like the Detroit Lions, it doesn't
seem like it seems like a young sport where they're
not learning in college. They're coming here and they're getting
thrust into the fire and they're trying to figure out
and they're making a lot of dumb mistakes, and then

(16:40):
there's no preseason.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
It's a lot is there a blame, but there's always
a blame game, Right, where's the blame go?

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Then? Does it going the league? Does it go on?
The coaches go on? The players? It's a little bit
of everything. What do you think it is?

Speaker 7 (16:52):
You were fundamentally sound coming out of college fifteen years past?
Like coaches did a good job of preparing you for
the next level. Like even back when I came out,
I was like, Oh, it's gonna take this young guy
a second. I was ready when I came out. I've
done four years in Michigan. I played in the same
offense in Michigan for two years that the Cleveland Browns
had just started running my first my first year, I

(17:15):
knew it better than they did, But Romeo Curnell was
sixty plus years old, so he made me wait my turn.
But I say that going back, Lloyd Carr, Eric Campbell,
Jim Herman, like the coaches that you had at Michigan,
they had my knowledge of the game, they had my
fundamentals as such. Where I was ready, I was just
ready for trying to figure out the speed of the NFL.

Speaker 6 (17:34):
I wasn't trying to figure out how to play the game.

Speaker 7 (17:36):
I wasn't trying to figure out how to line up,
Like you don't have to tell me certain things like
I don't have to get to the league, and you
have to explain to me, Well, when the tight end
steps off the ball, you have to step on the ball.
I knew that in high school, but it was.

Speaker 6 (17:48):
Beating to me again in college.

Speaker 7 (17:50):
Hey, always look at the ball, Always talk to the
ref Always make sure you keep your hands on the inside.
Always make sure you're staying within that two yard lines.
If you're offensive lineman and not getting further down the field.

Speaker 6 (18:02):
Don't give me the excuse.

Speaker 7 (18:03):
That they're not passing the ball more that everything is
a quick pass, so.

Speaker 6 (18:07):
I don't know if I'm blocking or if I'm not.
I don't want to hear it. I'll give me these excuses.

Speaker 7 (18:11):
But that starts in college, and I don't think these
guys are getting prepared in the collegiate space, all.

Speaker 3 (18:16):
Right, So help me with this, because the other thing
that it doesn't appear that they're all that prepared for
is scoring touchdowns. We saw it a couple of weeks
ago with a Danai Mitchell for Indianapolis. Yesterday we saw
it again with a guy by the name of Amari Demarcado.
Democrat had a nice run seventy one yards or so,

(18:38):
and just before he reaches pay dirt, just before he
reaches the goal line, he flips the ball and then
it's recovered by Tennessee. It's a touchback. Tennessee ends up
winning the game by the way. Twenty two twenty one
last second field goal. Congratulations to cam warden company. Cam
Ward played pretty well, even though his numbers wouldn't indicate.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
That when a guy's gonna get it, what is that
all about?

Speaker 6 (19:05):
That?

Speaker 3 (19:06):
That is one of the most selfish things a player
can do.

Speaker 6 (19:13):
I don't to answer your question. I don't know.

Speaker 7 (19:15):
I don't know when they'll get it. I just know
that the emphasis now is on look I celebrate. This
isn't some old guy come in here like, don't celebrate?
Look I did the Dougie. I had them at a
lot of things that I did. I understand. I remember
what popping the collar was. The thing I did that
uh in Michigan. I had to hide because you can't.
You couldn't. You couldn't celebrate unless You're at University of
Miami back when I was in college, so I get it.

(19:37):
But I think the emphasis is now you're worried about
the touchdown, more about the steps that it takes to
get the touchdown. Like you're worried about, like what am
I going to do when I get in that in zone.
I'm a rock can do that because he's going to
get to the end zone. He does all the work
from the time he gets into the huddle to the
time he gets in the end zone. He does everything
the way it's supposed to be done. And that right there,

(19:57):
that's called the celebration in the payoffs. But there worrying about, Oh,
I'm about to get an inZone, let me drop the ball,
and then what I'm gonna.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Do is I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna do that.

Speaker 7 (20:05):
Sorry, you have to cross the goal line first. But
the emphasis is now touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
That not fundly.

Speaker 7 (20:12):
They took the band aid off and let everybody do
what they wanted to do five six, seven years ago
when we called them the no fundly They let group
celebrations happen.

Speaker 6 (20:19):
They let you do what you want to do.

Speaker 7 (20:20):
They let defensive players come all the way from one
end zone to go all the way to the other
end zone to take pictures in. I appreciate it all.
But if you don't have the temperament, if you don't
have the professionalism to do both or do all the
things in between, this is what you're gonna see.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
I love the personality that's exuded on a regular basis,
as long as you can handle the repercussions that come
with it. If you're gonna celebrate certain things and then
you get burned, you can't and people are gonna cheer
with you when you celebrate, but also boo you when
you get burned.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
Just just be careful in that regard.

Speaker 7 (20:53):
Stick stick with that one, don't leave it. Don't leave
this situation because I won't talk about that coaching that one.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Okay, and I do I want to hear that. But
I was thinking about Amika Buka, who was unbelievable. He
had seven targets yesterday for Tampa. He had seven catches,
one hundred and sixty three yards in a touchdown.

Speaker 5 (21:09):
He was so good, right, But last.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
Week I don't think he cost his team the game,
but he cost his team valuable seconds because he caught
a touchdown, and for all intensive purposes, did a Michael
Jackson moonwalk into the bat into the end zone and
it took him as he slowed down it right around
the fifteen yard line. It probably took him a good
six seconds that his team could have used at the

(21:33):
end in a comeback attempt, and they couldn't get it done.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
You know, maybe we give him.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
A little bit of a pass because he's really good.
How much do we know about this this kid from Arizona?
Not quite as much. My point is, if you get
to this point where it's a little bit of an
academic or pandemic on the football field, more and more
guys start doing it, and instead of telling them get
your head out of your tail, you got a lot

(22:00):
of people patting him on the back saying, hey man,
that was really cool.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
It doesn't it just doesn't work for your team.

Speaker 6 (22:05):
Yeah, no, it doesn't.

Speaker 7 (22:06):
But at the end of the day, those coaches won't
have jobs long. Those coaches won't have a job long
because those players are gonna get those coaches fired. Not
necessarily mecha book, because he is he is solid. So
McDonald as a as a coach. The Ganning situation, so
after de Mercado comes to the sideline after he fumbles,
after he well not fumbles after he just basically lets
the ball go rolls out of the back of the

(22:26):
end zone. Here's a touch back comes to the sideline.
Coaches coming over there again, and coaches get hot. Coaches
get you know, rightfully, So you gotta.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
Come over there. You gotta lay down on the lawn
a little bit, don't They need to?

Speaker 7 (22:38):
They need to have a conversation with coaches and players,
and it needs to happen in the off season. Stop
touching each other, like just just just flat out stop
touching each other. Like the whole Andy Reid and Travis
Kelcey situation that we talked about.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
I told you I didn't like it.

Speaker 7 (22:52):
I said, I didn't like the fact that they're going
chest to chest and Andy fields the need because Travis
kelce Because Travis kelce initiated, much like Patrick Homes they
last year, the playoffs now and he's got a poke
his chests out. When Gannon is talking to Mercado and
he's disciplining him, he's given look as a as a
player that has signed a contract, you have signed up

(23:12):
for all of that. You signed up for the conversation
you signed up for. When you mess up getting disciplined,
getting be rated, getting yelled at that, fine, it comes
to handle it. We can handle that. We're gladiators, essentially,
this is what we do. Don't put your hands on me.
Don't put your hands on me. Because then it leads
to a different space. What if the mercado had an
issue with that, which he should have. What if he's

(23:33):
not as temperamental and like it was a punch, like
and I don't I don't know what was said. I
don't know what the conversation was. And know people be like, well,
he probably just told you. He was like, come on, man,
you got this. That was a punch. And what if
he doesn't have the temperament to handle that.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
What if it's a player on player.

Speaker 6 (23:50):
Said don't touch him. Okay, like this.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
It's happened quite a bit in the past. But I mean,
and you you would, You're much better equipped answer this.

Speaker 7 (24:00):
Then is different because you look at it as you
look as a colleague. For whatever reason, even though these
coaches are the same age as the players, you still
look at the coaches as a high argument. So as
a coach, he's here players underneath because they played for
the coach.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
If it was a player that punched the coach.

Speaker 7 (24:17):
We would have a whole different conversation today, true, regardless
of how light it was, what the top was, If
it was that, we would have a whole different conversation.
And I don't even want like it.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
The hard thing is to try and tell yourself in
the moment pause, try to keep get your emotions under
control before you talk to the player. You can be
as emotional as you want, because his job is on
the line. He's gotta win games. You don't win games
by punching players, Okay, because others see that and they're like, man,

(24:50):
what's wrong with this guy? I don't want to play
for this guy? So on and so forth. On the
other hand, there is an emotional aspect that everybody feels,
whether you bet on that team tea, or whether you
like that team or you're a fan of that team,
that why does this keep happening? What needs to take
place in order for you to make it stop happening.

(25:11):
It isn't physical on that sideline, but something's got to
be done.

Speaker 7 (25:15):
And some's got to shake. And as it relates to it, look,
they need to just make a flat out situation. Hey, look,
you touch a player, you touch a coach like it's
over and so like, do something as as as severe
as that so.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
People get it. Stop putting your hands on plate.

Speaker 3 (25:29):
Why wouldn't the NFLPA require some type of fine by
a coach if that were the case.

Speaker 7 (25:38):
There's always because it's always been taboo. Who's pegging that letter,
who's doing that, and who on the nfl PA is
actually working for the players.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
That's a whole other conversation.

Speaker 5 (25:47):
Well, you don't need a letter. All you got to
do is look at the video.

Speaker 7 (25:52):
I'm saying, Like, who's going to initiate that conversation, is
what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
I say, Okay, you would hope the leadership of you
would hope the representative of said team in this case,
the Arizona Cardinals, would would say, hey, this is ridiculous,
this can't happen. We don't do this the other way.
You want to scream and yell, that's one thing, but
physical is a little different situation.

Speaker 7 (26:16):
I'm just glad we had those problems in Detroit. We
can let Arizona in the bid. Well, let's figure out
what they're gonna do. Again and then Kyler Murray because
that collapse.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Yeah, you know how I felt about Kyler Murray for
a long time. I think he's probably he was one
of the most overrated players in the league. It's he
can be fun to watch to scramble away. He's he's
as close to Fran Tarkentin as there used to be. Okay,
Fran Tarkentin was undersized, but he ran all over the

(26:46):
place and somehow he'd make things happen and they won
division titles, but they didn't win Super Bowls. I I
don't get the how people are so enamored with with
Kyler Murray. I don't know what he does that makes
everybody think that he's going to such a special quarterback.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
I really don't. Meanwhile, the Lions, what are they doing? Well?

Speaker 3 (27:04):
They are with twenty two touchdowns okay, thirteen passing, eight rushing,
one punt return, the only team, according to Lions pr,
the only team in NFL history.

Speaker 7 (27:18):
That sounds funny saying it that way according to their
own team, Yeah, well that was real, but it still
sounds funny. Yeah, they're the one who has my mom.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
According to my mom, I'm really good looking, but I'm
really not. My mom tells me that how many drinks.
Never mind, so the only team in history to produce
those TD totals through the first five games of any
season since the two thousand Rams. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, man,

(27:49):
there's I don't I'm not a big guy who believes
in conspiracy theories and all this other stuff. But there's
something maneuvering in the in the Earth's axis. As we
watch the Lions where Jared Goff, who was drafted first
overall by the Rams, came to Detroit and now has
more wins as a Lions quarterback than the Rams, just

(28:10):
did something that the two thousand Rams did for it
to go unnoticed.

Speaker 5 (28:17):
Something's crazy in that regard.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
It is crazy. It's crazy. That is the city of Detroit.

Speaker 7 (28:22):
But you know, this is this is what happens when
you this is what happens, like schep.

Speaker 6 (28:28):
Not to get all philosophical, because we can break down.

Speaker 7 (28:30):
In the game, but it's what happened when you have
a vision, when you believe in something and you tell yourself,
I am going to take my time with this vision.
This is how this thing is gonna play out. It
is going this is the path it's going to be
four it's gonna be three years. This is the quarterback,
this is the guy. This is what we're gonna do.
This is what we want to implement. You implement these

(28:50):
things and you stayed. Of course, that's what Jared Goff
has done once he's got here. That's what Dan Campbell,
Brat Holmes have done. That's what the coaches and the
players have done. They've stayed the course over these now
five years. But when Dan came with that plan, it's
hard to look three years down the line. It's hard
when to be a player and listen to your coach
say this is gonna be a three year rebuilt, Like,
I'm not gonna lie, Like, we're not built like that

(29:11):
three years, Dan, What about this year? What are we
gonna do this show? So we're just giving up? Are
we just getting ready for the three year fast?

Speaker 6 (29:17):
Four or five years later?

Speaker 7 (29:18):
And you're like, that took vision, That took patience to
state the course, That took vigilance, that took resiliency.

Speaker 3 (29:26):
Took trust trust within us. It took Dan Campbell and
Brad Holmes and Chili hamp to all trust one another.
You look at some of the faces and by the
way that two thousand rams team made the Super Bowl.
Remember they lost the Patriots.

Speaker 5 (29:38):
But they still made the Super Bowl. Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
You look at some of the faces on some of
these other teams, watching the Jets walk off the field
with another loss, Jack did watching Cincinnati. You brought it
up last week, Tamar Chase and T Higgins, they knew
that game was over yesterday, watching Jake Browning awful on
the sidelines on the bench, looking at the just not
even looking at the tablet, just putting his hands, head

(30:04):
in his hands, going what am I doing?

Speaker 5 (30:06):
You know? Make it?

Speaker 3 (30:08):
You love how Detroit has handled all the things that
they've had to deal with already when people say they
haven't had to deal with it. They lost a green
band and everybody jumped off that bandwagon. You and I didn't.
They jumped off that bandwagon. They're beating the teams they're
supposed to beat, and a lot of players and a
lot of teams are not doing that right now. So

(30:29):
that's another positive for Dan Campbell and the Lions are doing.
Gotta give him a ton of credit. But I do
want to get Braylan's thoughts on a number of different
players from the Lions doing what they're supposed to do.
Want to get to your chats, want to get to
your super chats as well, because you've got a lot
in there. I know somebody met Braylan before the game
the other day. They had a nice thing to say,
we want to get to that. It's all coming up,

(30:50):
all coming up, all coming up here on the Brelan
Edwards Show. By the way, I'm on Ross Saint Brown
another kudos to him. We could talk about him every
single day. Just pasted Brett Perriman for number four all
time in Lions history in receiving yards.

Speaker 6 (31:06):
He'll be number one. So he'll be number one before
you know it. Can I say something real quick about.

Speaker 5 (31:11):
I don't know if he's gonna beat Calvin Johnson. He said,
what I don't. I don't know if he's gonna beat.

Speaker 7 (31:15):
Calvin only did ten years. I'm like, if you look
at the slatey years, the.

Speaker 6 (31:20):
Projected is close.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
Yeah, I mean Calvin with a close twelve thousand yards.
We'll see what happens. I'm I'm rooting for him. I
don't know if I'm rooting for him to beat Calvin's records.

Speaker 7 (31:29):
I love Kelvin was like year five, he's already close
to seven.

Speaker 5 (31:34):
He's fifty fifty to fifty.

Speaker 7 (31:35):
Eight by the end of this year, and he will
end this year he's sixty Yeah, sixty.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
Three, which and and then next yearly early next year
he'll passed Johnny Morton, right.

Speaker 7 (31:48):
Uh, he called that he caught a catch yesterday. Catches
a catch and the commentator says something about this. I know,
the commentary says, so I'll give him the credit. I
caught it, catches a big first. Now came back and
you saw him shaking the shoulder pass. You sean getting excited.
And the very next play, what was it? He motioned
in and he came in between the slept tackle and

(32:11):
the guard to crack the linebacker. He wasn't excited that
he just made this catch for a first down. He
wasn't excited that they got me. They got me involved
in the other pass and do what I do.

Speaker 6 (32:21):
Boom boom, boom boom.

Speaker 7 (32:22):
He was excited because he was about to go put
a hat on the hat like that.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Stuff is fired, right. What Daryl Johnson said, though, is fired.
Darryl Johnson thought he might have hurt his shoulder. How
does he get rewarded by coming in motion, going up
the middle and cracking the linebacker. That was the reward,
and he did it without wincing, whining or going to
the sidelines. Awesome stuff as always, just like it's awesome
with Ben Johnson.

Speaker 7 (32:47):
Ben Johnson corporations to the government, even your insurance company
will do whatever takes the mini minds their liability. They
don't want any liability. They try to run from it
or they'll try to withhold your conversation.

it is not your husband.

Speaker 6 (33:16):
It's gotta be Ben Johnson. We'll get you in the game.

Speaker 7 (33:18):
Trust me, your wife, your spouse, they'll be okay. Ben
Johnson will get you in the game. And remember it's

a comedian. At the same time, like I love being
funny and well I love trying to be funny.

Speaker 5 (40:23):
No, you're funny.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
I appreciate that, and then you're funny sometimes when you
don't even try.

Speaker 5 (40:26):
To be funny.

Speaker 6 (40:28):
Those are the funny.

Speaker 5 (40:28):
Those are the funniest moments, aren't that.

Speaker 7 (40:30):
I don't know I should I laugh at that? Like
what moments are we talking about?

Speaker 5 (40:33):
Oh no, no, they I think it's I think it's
the funny.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
The funniest part is when you're not trying to be funny,
you're not being serious, but you just say something and
it just strikes you as you're like, you know what.

Speaker 5 (40:43):
The people we just look at each other and we
just start laughing.

Speaker 7 (40:46):
The funniest thing is I got a cousin that watches
this show all the time, and he always he always
calls me out.

Speaker 6 (40:51):
Why you live so ashy?

Speaker 7 (40:55):
Stuff like that is your family will never let you rest,
will never let you rock, you know.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
And same thing with same with your best young friends.
Like when you they've known you your your entire life.
They know who you are, right, they can't. They didn't
come later on in life. They've known you since basically
day one, and they can call you up. It's not
because you're not brailing ed Whigs the football player. You
are just brailing from the hood okay, or your neighborhood wherever.

Speaker 5 (41:25):
Okay, they knew you way back when.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
So you ever, you've heard people say, hey, don't forget
me when you make it big.

Speaker 5 (41:31):
He makes it big.

Speaker 3 (41:33):
If he forgets some of his best buddies from when
he was little, he's gonna hear about it.

Speaker 7 (41:38):
And those same buddies. I want them to try to
call me out. I'm not from the hood, because they'll
call me out I'm from.

Speaker 5 (41:43):
Sir, meant the neighborhood.

Speaker 6 (41:48):
From the hood, my neighborhood.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
As saying, what were you gonna say?

Speaker 4 (41:56):
Ryan?

Speaker 6 (41:58):
Definitely, I've already sperience that.

Speaker 8 (42:00):
When I did a broadcast at Central Michigan on ESPN Plus,
I like was kind of sitting there.

Speaker 7 (42:05):
I looked uncomfortable.

Speaker 8 (42:07):
That picture that they they clipped it, they made it
a stick or everything. It is now a meme in
my friends group chats since that moment. I can't live
that down already, So I've got to be careful.

Speaker 5 (42:17):
By the way.

Speaker 7 (42:18):
Then I portrayed myself on TV.

Speaker 5 (42:20):
That's good. What were you gonna say?

Speaker 2 (42:22):
Oh?

Speaker 7 (42:22):
I was just letting Brandon know shout out to Rolls though.

Speaker 6 (42:25):
Oh yeah, Grand River and.

Speaker 5 (42:27):
Ward I got.

Speaker 3 (42:29):
I can't tell you how many of my young friends
when when when they were young and we were young.
But my my dearest friends and my oldest friends.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
Well we'll bring up.

Speaker 3 (42:38):
Hey, man, I can't believe you do a show with
Beryland Edwards. I can't believe you used to do this
with Rick Horne. I can't believe you used to do
this with Kirk Gibson all this other stuff, right, but
the one where getting credit for being skilled do no right, No,
it's right place, right time, it's But the one that
they will not let me live down is where I

(43:01):
was reporting for at the time Fox Sports Detroit during
a Tiger's game and I was doing the report looking
at the camera and a foul ball comes right towards me,
and the only heads up I got was, I think
from at the time, the stage manager's like SHEHP. So
I went like that and I had to block it,
and people are how come you didn't catch it?

Speaker 5 (43:22):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (43:22):
I'm in the middle of talking. I'm looking up at
the last moment. What's the reaction. It's not like, oh,
I got it, dropped my microphone and I actually deflected
it and was able to continue with the report. It
didn't matter that I was able to continue with the
report that they kissed off at is that I didn't
catch the ball and I had to almost block it
like it was I was blinded from the sun on

(43:44):
the first tee in the afternoon group.

Speaker 8 (43:46):
You know what I mean, that's impressive show I kid,
that's impressive, very impressive. All my friends and family been like,
exactly what you said. Why don't you catch it?

Speaker 10 (43:53):
Ye?

Speaker 1 (43:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (43:54):
I'm kind of I'm kind of busy.

Speaker 3 (43:57):
I'm trying to do a live hit here. I apologize
if I and trust me. The rest of the broadcast,
they showed it at nausea. Let's get some chats in here,
and some super chats. I want to make sure we
keep up to speed with those. I have admittedly not
done a great job with that, and that's my apologies.
People take time to join us in the chat. They
deserve to be heard, so cool a motor through them

(44:19):
without too many shoutouts.

Speaker 9 (44:22):
Well you know, I know you already shout out a
couple of these tough saus with the Jets super Chat
two dollars as well as Middle eight sneak.

Speaker 7 (44:31):
I finally got a chance to meet you in person.
I'm sorry I cut you off. We met literally Saturday,
right on the steps to go into the game. I
got a chance to give her a hug and shout
her out for the support this season. Man, it was
so good to finally put an eye and put a
face to today.

Speaker 5 (44:46):
It's a good one.

Speaker 9 (44:46):
Yeah, and she sends in a five dollars super Chat
and is the number one. She has a number one
crown for our chat family. Today we say shout out
to Bray for showing me love when I saw them
outside the Big House.

Speaker 6 (44:57):
It was great to see you in person. Go Blue,
it was great to see you in person as well. Man,
I appreciate the support. It's good to see.

Speaker 5 (45:05):
It's it's really cool when you meet people like that.

Speaker 6 (45:08):
And it adds to it.

Speaker 7 (45:09):
Now when I'm hearing the I got the face I
have and also have the energy.

Speaker 6 (45:13):
The energy is like.

Speaker 7 (45:14):
When she makes certain comments, I know what that looks
like and where that come from.

Speaker 6 (45:17):
That's overdope.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
She also sees you in a in a different element,
you know, instead of on camera, and and the kind
of genuine person that you truly are. I love this one.
Mike g obviously is G Mike Staple. He's a Staple.
He's obviously very good at movies and certain sitcoms. So
for example, shop I'm funny. How how the heck am
I funny? I'm funny like a clown?

Speaker 5 (45:40):
Go I amuse you? We all know that where that's from? Right,
I hope? So all right?

Speaker 3 (45:45):
I just want to make sure Mike G's testing us
and Mike, well done.

Speaker 5 (45:49):
I appreciate that. Good one. Good fellas, yea good fellas.

Speaker 9 (45:52):
Yeah, and earlier you all, you know you mentioned the
Chiefs as well, and uh so if you go, Vegan says,
Chiefs plates and not. But but they don't have to
travel for Sunday night against Detroit. Does the travel slight
advantage from scheduling?

Speaker 6 (46:06):
Great name?

Speaker 5 (46:08):
Is it?

Speaker 3 (46:08):
Is it an advantage if people in Kansas City? What
do you think they're saying right now about the best
team in football?

Speaker 5 (46:15):
That's right? I said it. They're the best team in
I don't think I'm going sounded really good. They are.
They're the best team in football, right, Yes.

Speaker 6 (46:22):
I said that last week. But I was like, you
know what, but if you used to.

Speaker 5 (46:25):
Did you have that? Wait a minute, was that top ten?

Speaker 6 (46:27):
Did you have them?

Speaker 7 (46:28):
We didn't do a top ten on Friday? We went
into our picks. I said when I said that, when
I said the Philly will lose, you did I said,
Philly will lose? You said with the phone, I said,
they're not even the best team. I would take the
Lions over them.

Speaker 6 (46:41):
Now.

Speaker 5 (46:41):
Yeah, Tampa, Tampa looks really good too. That's gonna be.

Speaker 6 (46:44):
Gets some players too, like they is at the end.

Speaker 3 (46:48):
This is the stuff that watching these games with you.
This is what you and I be talking about.

Speaker 7 (46:53):
Thirty seconds. I'm telling you the most fearful player in
the league right now in the mid thirty seconds, Maker Mayfield, Like,
I don't care what you say about anybody else you
can give you Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Maholls, right
at Matthew Stafford, who was one of the greatest of
all times in that last.

Speaker 5 (47:07):
Minute and thir fifty comeback wins right.

Speaker 6 (47:09):
Now, min in and thirty.

Speaker 7 (47:11):
I don't want Baker may He's the last quarterback that
I want to play in the fourth quarter with a
men and thirty.

Speaker 6 (47:16):
He just finds a way. He's finding ways.

Speaker 3 (47:19):
And you know what nit picking fans will say, you
have to come back in all your games and all
your wins in order for you to win. My whole point,
I could care less if you got to come back
and do it. As long as you do it, let
me know next time. Style points matter except for when
idiots are out there ranking where those teams are.

Speaker 6 (47:38):
Win's will win.

Speaker 7 (47:39):
See, that's what you gotta tell those individuals to listen,
because if you listen to the conversation that said, the
last quarterback that I want to see with a minion
and thirty is Baker Mayfield. I ain't say anything else
about what happened before he got to this point, because
you're right, we're always in this situation. But guess what,
he always comes out with a W.

Speaker 5 (47:55):
So you said Detroit is the best team.

Speaker 3 (47:57):
I think it's it should be obvious to people, but
right now, not just because Philly lost, but you said
it last week before they lost. Buffalo has not looked
good for a couple of weeks. Again, not a knock
on them. They're still probably the best team in the AFC.
I mean, I thought the Chargers would be better. They
just lost another game, all right. The AFC North, which
used to be considered the best team or the best

(48:19):
division in football, is probably the worst division in football. Okay,
it's amazing, But when you look at that and you
take all the credentials and so on and so forth,
unless you're throwing San Francisco in there, who is a
team that is besieged by injury?

Speaker 5 (48:34):
Right now?

Speaker 3 (48:35):
Who else is the answer besides the Detroit Lions right now,
And I'm not trying to be hyperbolic. I'm not trying
to be a homer. Who else is in that conversation
besides the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 7 (48:45):
I think another team is very similar to Detroit, but
they had the same issue that Detroit has. The one
issue Detroit has is the secondary. One get in once
we start talking about last week. I watched the Rams
in the forty nine ers play. Rams defense is elite
except the secondary, and that's what you see. You see
the big players that they get up, and I said,
it was a mirror image. That's what you saw a
little bit seeping in the game against the Bengals. Yes,
it was garbage time, so I don't have a problem

(49:06):
what the final score is like. That game was never, never,
never in question. But that secondary. Two more injuries in
that secondary, some big plays, some penalties that happened in
that secondary that can kill a defensive rush, that can
kill how well Jack Campbell is playing.

Speaker 6 (49:21):
Who Shepherd tell.

Speaker 7 (49:22):
Us about where he's rated out of all linebackers in
the league currently, it's that secondary. So the Rams and
the Lions are very similar, but the Lions offense is
more consistent because they got a fumbling issue out there
for Blake korm as well as Kyrien Williams, both running backs.

Speaker 5 (49:39):
So who's that other team?

Speaker 3 (49:40):
In the conversation that you kind of teased us with
and said, you know, I'm waiting for you, were you.

Speaker 5 (49:46):
Going to say the Colts?

Speaker 6 (49:47):
No?

Speaker 7 (49:48):
Oh, okay, No, I like the Coats. I like what
they're doing. I said, when anybody said that they will win.

Speaker 3 (49:53):
Well put that put in perspective. Because you've liked the Colts,
and I give you credit for that. Detroit has scored
one hundred and seventy four points. That's the the national
Football like number two Colts.

Speaker 5 (50:04):
They only sixty three.

Speaker 7 (50:05):
And this is gonna sound crazy that I'm saying it.
The only team that I am waiting to see the
Detroit Lions play next week, Like I really want to
see what they look like. Talking about the Chiefs against
these Jaguars are getting players back, Patrick mahas Andy Reeds
like found a little bit of something last week. I
want to see what that looks like this week. Because
he's the guy that you can never count out. They're

(50:27):
the combo that you can never count out. So it's
the Chief nobody else. It's a weird League right now.

Speaker 5 (50:33):
What about the aforementioned Tampa Bay box.

Speaker 7 (50:37):
Yeah, once everybody comes back, because they still don't have
Mike Evans in their winning games. They don't have Kelijah
Campbell and then win Kelijah Canzy and they're winning games.
Those guys are coming back, they're not out for the year,
and that team is gonna.

Speaker 6 (50:48):
Get real real.

Speaker 5 (50:49):
I don't know how much this matters to you.

Speaker 7 (50:51):
And they know the Lions, that's the other thing. I mean,
not no, but they've had some encounters with the line
they played three times.

Speaker 6 (50:57):
Over the last three years.

Speaker 7 (50:58):
Yeah, so there's something there, not just like some team
that you're okay that we stack of. Well, it's a
good game, we'll see he knows other there's some things
there though.

Speaker 3 (51:06):
They've also come into your house and taking care of business. Yeah,
and scare the hell out of you in a playoff game.
If I told you this though, and you know how
I feel about Tampa, I said before the season started,
they're an NFC threat.

Speaker 6 (51:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (51:21):
Do you know what they're points for and points against are?
Do you know what the point ratio difference is? It's three?

Speaker 6 (51:28):
Yeah, because they're always in the dog.

Speaker 5 (51:31):
Yet they're always in the dogfight.

Speaker 3 (51:33):
Some of that has to do with their schedule, and
I mean it's not like they're the only division leader.
In that situation. Pittsburgh leads their division. They're a minus two.
They've been outscored by two. I think point differential run
differential in baseball. I think it's an important statistic, all right,
So we'll see if it holds two.

Speaker 5 (51:49):
Moving forward.

Speaker 3 (51:50):
That said, I want to make sure we get the
chats before we move on to to some of these
topics that I was thinking about you yesterday watching the game.

Speaker 5 (51:57):
We want to make sure I get that from you.
Anything else that we need to get to in.

Speaker 9 (52:01):
The chat, you know what, not necessarily in the chat yet,
but I know that we wanted to go over that
Dan Campbells sound, and as you guys were talking, it
started to make it since I know what his comments are,
ring that much more real to me because he was
talking about this team is exuding what great teams.

Speaker 3 (52:21):
Well, let's hear that from Dan Campbell, get Braylan's thoughts,
and then I want to get Braylan's thoughts on a
few specific players from yesterday. There's a lot of arrows
being slung at some of these players.

Speaker 7 (52:33):
Are they Tampa Bay with or without Bucky Irvin, Because
I think Bucky Irvin is the secret straw. He's a
secret straw for that team. If they got Bucky Irvin,
that's a dangerous team. Like if they don't. I'm not
worried about Rashade White.

Speaker 5 (52:48):
Okay, Rashad White played most of the game yesterday. Go ahead.

Speaker 13 (52:51):
Ultimately, what I feel good about is what I already mentioned,
and that's the complimentary football man. When we need it most.
Our defense steps up when when we needed most, our
offense steps that we needed most special team steps and
those are signs of great teams man to me. And
so we've got that part. That's the hard part. We
got that. The other stuff we can clean that up.
And I think in that regard, yes, I think we

(53:12):
still have so much growth left collectively that that's the
exciting thing. So yes, we do love that.

Speaker 3 (53:20):
So much growth left. Coach, coaches and you players see
that more than we do. We see wins, we see
final scores, and we think, Okay, they've arrived.

Speaker 5 (53:31):
They're the best team.

Speaker 3 (53:32):
They're not just the best team right now, but they're
the best team long term too, because they're getting healthier
bodies back.

Speaker 5 (53:38):
I mean they did this yesterday.

Speaker 3 (53:39):
Well out, they're starting left tackle and there are plenty
of areas in which they can improve. That's what should
leave everybody super.

Speaker 7 (53:48):
Excited, not super excited to Taylor Decker potentially leaving at
the end of the season because.

Speaker 6 (53:53):
They left tackle situations.

Speaker 7 (53:55):
I did not like what I saw out of Giavanium
knew the project that we drafted two years ago, so
that's just get that out of there. But this is
how they've been playing for the last four years. They've
been playing that complimentary ball, like guys making plays, sides
making plays, whether it's special teams like you said, defensive offense.
The only time that didn't happen was when you ran
out of defensive players and offensive players. In terms of

(54:15):
the Washington Commander's game talking about Demo and specifically and
how many players are missing out of the defense. This
is the brand of football that they play, like, guys
step up and make plays, and offense has just been
so good over the past three four years to where
defense only has to make a couple plays, you know
here or there. You look at this game and you
look at thirty seven to twenty four and you may

(54:35):
see twenty one in the fourth quarter.

Speaker 6 (54:37):
There are ugly games like this. No, you don't want
it to happen.

Speaker 7 (54:40):
No, you don't want to lose a twenty eight to
three lead in the fourth quarter, But that game was over,
The game was out of hands. A couple of plays
here or they're seen it before. Don't make too much
of it. But that offensive line, they definitely got to
have the big fellow, Taylor Decker.

Speaker 6 (54:55):
If you want to make some hey, you talk about.

Speaker 7 (54:56):
How good this team is, how good that is is
predicated on him being the left tackle and the defense
being at full strength because the secondary yesterday they gave
up some plays and there will be a couple of
games one coming up. Patrick Mahomes, if you give him
opportunities like that, he will take advantage. Andy Reid, they
will take advantage. But what you saw on his team

(55:17):
when he talks about getting better, there's still a ton
of improvement. There's still a ton of growth that can
happen individually as players and then on both sides.

Speaker 3 (55:26):
So let's take a look at a few of the
players that you're referring to Ryanan Cooley to put this together.
Let's go from at the very top Terry on Arnold
on thirty two past snaps. He had six targets, three
catches against for twenty seven yards or so.

Speaker 5 (55:46):
He also had a couple of penalties, one of which
I think was an absolute joke. But whatever.

Speaker 3 (55:51):
I still you can call me a you know, a
kind of glass half full kind of guy if you want.
I still believe in his talent. I still think he's
going to be a good player. I don't know how good.
I'm not saying he's going to be a Pro Bowl,
but I think he's going to be a really good player.

Speaker 5 (56:06):
What did you What did you notice.

Speaker 3 (56:09):
From Terry on Arnold, whether it be improving or digressing yesterday.

Speaker 7 (56:13):
I'm not even going to talk about stats and just
what I've seen. There are some plays that he made
yesterday he legitimately and this is after a couple of
couple of calls that were on him. There was a
stretch in which he shut down two plays back to back.
Excuse me, shut down two plays back to back after
getting a penalty the series before, and then after that
the play that was intercepted, he would have got that interception.

(56:34):
So if you look at that in totality, after the
flags and after what people say, which is rightfully so,
because your job is to get better. Shit youar two,
your job is to take a lead. And it doesn't
seem like he's gotten better. He's still the same player,
Kevin Alabam. There's talent there, he's good. Where I'm out
with him is I'm just this is what I expect.
I expect the dB that is going to give me

(56:55):
some penalties, but I expect him to be in some
good position. I expect him to be a great tackle
because that's what he's been best at since he's been here.
He's a damn good tackler. Expecting to be a serviceable player.
Like nothing about him has shown me that he's going
to be this elite dB. Nothing has shown me that
he's going to be dB one. But I have seen
a dB that can make some plays and the guy
that you're gonna end up he's going to be your starter.

(57:16):
Like he's not going anywhere, He's not getting moved out
of the rotation and not moving him out of here.
He's going to be your starting dB. So knowing that,
you's got to know what comes with it. He's going
to make some plays, He's going to give up some plays,
and that's what he did this week. He made some
really good plays where you're like you're taking some steps
and then he took some steps back, some steps back.
As it relates to the call being a bad call

(57:38):
or a good call, when you put yourself in a
position where they know that you are.

Speaker 6 (57:43):
A guy that we'll hold, that will.

Speaker 7 (57:45):
Pass interference, that will do the things they're waiting to
call a call on you.

Speaker 5 (57:50):
So what you got to do is a reputation.

Speaker 7 (57:52):
Okay, well, what you have to do as a player
change that reputation, Like you got to make sure that
you don't have your hands where they're not supposed to be.
You gotta make sure that you're doing the little things.
And if you put yourself in some spots, so be
it until you figure this thing out, until you figure
out they're looking. They're legitimately following six around like they're

(58:13):
waiting because you've shown that this is what you do
and coming into this year, you haven't gotten any better.
So you've got to legitimately almost have your hands behind
your back and dp people up until they see, oh know,
Terran is he's making plays. We can't call it because
Brad's gonna lie before him. Calvin Shepherd's gonna call the
league send in plays. This is be as you're overpressing him.

(58:36):
He has a reputation. It's not fair. YadA, YadA, YadA.
Your job is to stop doing things. Your job is
to be a little more clean. You gotta be a
cleaner version, not just for you, but for the Detroit Lions.

Speaker 5 (58:47):
Yep, for sure. He had two passes defended.

Speaker 3 (58:50):
And look, if I'm gonna I'm gonna defend Brad Holmes
on a lot of different things and believe in what
Brad Holmes.

Speaker 5 (58:55):
And his staff do.

Speaker 3 (58:56):
For the most part, They're not gonna be perfect, but
for the most part that I also.

Speaker 5 (59:00):
Have to believe this. If he thought he was that
number one, why would you go out and acquire a
guy like DJ Reid to be your one?

Speaker 3 (59:09):
So I understand that, all right, and maybe it takes
a little time for you to grow into that role.
Here's what Terry on Arnold said after the game yesterday
in the win over Cincinnati.

Speaker 14 (59:22):
I mean, my whole thing is just going out there
getting the best treatment I could get during the week
and go Outdamn, let the fire they right now. It's
just it's more mental than anything, you know, just getting
better at even like learning how to play smarter and harder,
and now I got I got a good group of guys,
even being in a funeral with gods like DJ of

(59:43):
me and just learning how to play more like a bet.

Speaker 3 (59:47):
It's interesting, he said, play smarter because he understands that.

Speaker 6 (59:51):
Like he's a physical corner.

Speaker 7 (59:53):
And there's one of the reasons why they drafted him
is because of his physical physicality, because he likes to
get hands on it. He was because he can play
with hands on him and still stay in phase, still
run like that's where he's comfortable at. You have to
evolve as a player, and that's what he means by
getting smart. You know, when you put your hands on people,
especially when it's after five yards, especially when it's a
little bit of a whole, a little bit of a tug.

(01:00:14):
This is where he has to get better with his leveraging.
This is where he has to get better with his technique.
When you gotta watch film, You gotta watch film to
understand how is Jamar gonna set me up for this route?
How is t Higgins going to do this on the inside?
Watch that film like that is what it is, so
he's got to watch a little bit more of that.
I think he wants to get better. I believe he
wants to get better. You know, you see him up there,

(01:00:36):
he said, I gotta play smarter.

Speaker 3 (01:00:37):
Yeah, I would hope. So I hope he wants to
get better. He's a guy that they're going to they
have to rely on. Okay, they do. I mean it's
it's really hard to improve that position.

Speaker 7 (01:00:47):
Speaking of that guy that brought in you talk about
with DJ Reed, I watched the guy that was here
last year last night, and I wish he was still here.

Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
I was.

Speaker 6 (01:00:54):
I was a fan across the Davis. I was fanning last.

Speaker 7 (01:00:56):
Year when people complained about the cheese. I said, it's
not your bridge spending. I say, he's a D one.
He's a dB one, and you've seen him go all
season with one have success, be that guy and make
plays when you need him.

Speaker 6 (01:01:09):
Spoke.

Speaker 7 (01:01:09):
He fits the quality, he fits the scene like sometimes
situations are over funed and I get it, it's money
and this, that and the third. But you see him
last night, played for the Patriots and just kind of
down into what Rabel is building there, which Patriots are
building something you should be happy.

Speaker 6 (01:01:26):
If you're a Patriots fan. You went through some badness,
but you can deal.

Speaker 5 (01:01:30):
With it one very long.

Speaker 7 (01:01:31):
You got six rings you can last. They're building something.
He doesn't care about the flash and his ass and
look in a certain way.

Speaker 5 (01:01:37):
He's old.

Speaker 6 (01:01:38):
He's Dan Campbell.

Speaker 7 (01:01:39):
He's the first Dan Campbell essentially, and he's doing it
the right way.

Speaker 6 (01:01:42):
But he just looks man.

Speaker 5 (01:01:44):
But anyway, that's why.

Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
That's why he said, Remember we had our Pavis was
we had our picks before the year, and I said,
I think Mike Frable is going to be Coach of
the Year. New England is a scary team.

Speaker 6 (01:01:54):
I don't think I didn't know. I didn't think they
had enough chef.

Speaker 5 (01:01:56):
I didn't either.

Speaker 3 (01:01:57):
I think I didn't either, But I mean, I agree,
but Dre May has been pretty good. Stefan Diggs has
changed his attitude.

Speaker 5 (01:02:03):
You just mett in Carlton Davis.

Speaker 3 (01:02:04):
They've got some guys and they've got that same attitude
that you just talked about that the Lions have.

Speaker 7 (01:02:10):
And speaking of attitude, putting the ball on the carpet,
Remindery Stevenson.

Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
There you go, and then maybe people will take a
little bit bigger exhale when we come back. Speaking of
Terry on Arnold, his same draft class, a member of
his same draft class is something Bredlyn has to talk about.
And what an unbelievable story that David Montgomery went back to.

Speaker 5 (01:02:29):
Is it all roses?

Speaker 3 (01:02:31):
Though we might put a thorn in that here when
we come back here, I'll the Breadlan Edward show.

Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
I'm Woodward Sports after.

Speaker 6 (01:02:37):
This smooth the King.

Speaker 7 (01:02:39):
I was so excited to do last week's Smoothie King
High School Athlete. The week it was Tommy Carr from
Selene excuse me, QB one from Selena High School. I
also got a chance to go to the game Selene
versus in Every Hero on River Rats. No surprise win
for Selene. QB one did his thing yet again. Look,
if you want to nominate somebody to be Smoothe King
High School afterte we all you gotta do is scan

(01:03:00):
this QR code above my head to nominate them. Recovery
is where minners are made in Smoothie King. Guess what
has the clean ingredients, real fruit and protein that helps
me refuel. That's what I use like I'm dialing in
the Smoothie King every day. You want to have some
of those proteins, some of those nutrients, and also remember
the real fruit.

Speaker 6 (01:03:17):
It's a bigger aspect with that.

Speaker 7 (01:03:19):
Nominally your favorite Michigan athlete from any sport, remember that,
use that QR code Smoothie King High School Athlete week
and also try Smoothie today.

Speaker 9 (01:03:28):
Hey, and telling people about Jack says, well, brother Jack's
car wash.

Speaker 7 (01:03:33):
Look with over forty mentro it's so many locations for
these spots that were giving you because they are the
spots around the state. It's the spots that you should
dial into weather it's still nice. Wouldn't you like to
have a beautiful car wash as you go downtown tomorrow
to see the Detroit Tigers take all the Seattle Mariners.

Speaker 6 (01:03:48):
When you want your car look fresh when.

Speaker 15 (01:03:50):
You park it right outside of coch that we'll even
get you a free one text WSN two AA eight
five two two one seven nine again eight eight five
two two seventeen like me, twenty.

Speaker 7 (01:04:03):
Nine has got you in the game. It's the best
car washing in the state. My car is right now
getting detailed as we speak. Wow, I'm trying to enjoy it.

Speaker 5 (01:04:11):
That's constant.

Speaker 3 (01:04:12):
I mean, it's like Meg Ryan and when Harry Harry
metsell because yes, yes, yes, but.

Speaker 7 (01:04:17):
You know why is because it unlimited, which means unlimited
you can go if you want twenty nine ninety nine.

Speaker 6 (01:04:21):
That's the deal for you. Jazz Car was let them
get you right.

Really good football discussion in the first hour here on
the Braidlen Averge Show. Welcome back, Glad you're with us.
Here on Woodward Sports. Ryan kool Aid is with us.
We were talking just before the break about Terry on Arnold. Well,
there's been some updated news on Tarry Donold, some breaking news.
Anytime we get breaking news, we go to kool Aid.
Kool Aid, why don't you fill us in with the
breaking news on the Lions starting cornerback.

Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
Oh yeah, oh yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:05:24):
So while everything was coming up here, Adam Schefter tweeted
out the Lions cornerback Taryon Donald is now out indefinitely,
and Dan Campbell he was giving his press conference and
said that Toronnold is going to be out for a while.

Speaker 7 (01:05:40):
It says no Dj Reed, there's no Tarryon Arnold, There's
no Yeah Seeing, there's no Emat Robertson. So here we
are facing a twenty twenty four situation yet again.

Speaker 6 (01:05:50):
Quote a long time.

Speaker 3 (01:05:51):
In addition to that, there's there's been noah Leine McNeil.
There's no Marcus Davin porting yesterday was North Taylor Decker
two years ago.

Speaker 6 (01:06:00):
Don't sleep Cliff Raymond, well done, Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:06:03):
It goes on and on and on, and these are
impactful players. I don't care how many catches Khalif Raeman has.
He does a lot of things that Braylan has done.
In his Braylan's breakdown about whether or not it's important
in the scheme of the offense and special teams is
pretty important. Last time I checked, it was a third
of the game. Here's what I'm wondering moving forward. Two

(01:06:24):
years ago, I was nauseated by the people trying to
take away what the Lions did in Kansas City on
Opening night by saying they didn't have Travis Kelce, they
didn't have Chris Jones. I want you to mark this
week and maybe even last week, since last week, since
they just beat the bengalshop, I don't care.

Speaker 5 (01:06:44):
They're not very good.

Speaker 3 (01:06:45):
It's an NFL team, Have some respect. There's fifty three
guys on that roster who are NFL players.

Speaker 5 (01:06:51):
They may not be.

Speaker 3 (01:06:51):
As good as your players, but they're still fifty three
guys on that NFL roster. They did it without Decker,
they did it without DJ Reid, they did it without
Khalif Raymond. Okay, and now moving forward when the Lions,
if they beat Kansas City.

Speaker 5 (01:07:06):
They're gonna have to do with all those guys.

Speaker 3 (01:07:08):
Just remember that, Okay when next time somebody says, well,
the Lions had to beat this team without X and
X on their team.

Speaker 6 (01:07:15):
Yeah, that's very true.

Speaker 7 (01:07:16):
And the line's gonna be without some of their studs
going into a game in which they're gonna need them.
You know, Kansas City Chiefs, they're trying to save their season.
I think they figured some things out along the way,
but what do I know. You know, but this is
gonna be a good match. Not having the secondary, not
having the secondary is tough. I made the comparison to
the Rams last week. I should have set up. I
should have kept my mouth shut, and here we are
another situation like last year. But the show must go on.

(01:07:40):
You know, that's the thing that sucks about it.

Speaker 4 (01:07:42):
You move.

Speaker 7 (01:07:43):
You know what happened when guys get injured in practice.
I'll never forget this. I was out of practice. I
was actually Excuse me, I.

Speaker 6 (01:07:52):
Was actually at the practice in ann Arbor.

Speaker 7 (01:07:54):
First time I saw this, and then I saw it
again as a player, and you start to realize kind
of what it means to be a player. People get
hurt and show must go on. Drew Henson was the quarterback.
He was QB one. You of them that shop. You
know where I'm going with the story. I happen to
be at that practice. I was at the infamous practice
before they played Illinois. Drew Henson gets hurt in practice.
You can hear a you can hear a church mouse.

(01:08:17):
That's how quiet it was, Lloyd, That's how quiet it was.
He legitimately says, move the practice up ten yards, first down.

Speaker 6 (01:08:27):
Moved the practice up ten yards.

Speaker 7 (01:08:28):
They went and took care of Drew Henson got him
off the field, figure out what's going on with his ankle,
and then being an ankle Dell. He missed two games.
But I say this to say this, when I got
in college, it's the same thing. Guys get injured. Lloyd
moves the drill up. In the league, it sucks. Moved
the drill up. That's what happens. Now you get these injuries,
and the Lions saw this last year. You have to
move the season up. You have to move the drills up.
Now you're defensive line, who's been the the they've been

(01:08:51):
the juggernut for you. The defensive line the good. They
gotta be even better. They gotta be that much better.
And also now the offense, you gotta score some points,
so you gotta put your defense in situations. So no
more of this. Let me give the ball to David
Montgomery forty times because he's from Cincinnati. Story was amazing, Like,

(01:09:11):
the story is amazing.

Speaker 5 (01:09:12):
No, I have a heart, like, oh big heart.

Speaker 7 (01:09:16):
Montgomery getting his sister, who was paralyzed eighteen months ago,
getting a chance to see him play for the very
first side.

Speaker 6 (01:09:23):
The story was amazing.

Speaker 7 (01:09:24):
You even see Bengals fans like dapping her up when
he throws the touchdown and scores a touchdown.

Speaker 6 (01:09:31):
It worked in that game. The Bengals suck.

Speaker 7 (01:09:33):
They stink like this season has just gotten real. So
no way, you can't have wasted series. You can't have
wasted plays because of where the defense is. You don't
want to put them in a situation where you get
behind two scores. You know, now you gotta go out there.
So it just puts that much more emphasis on the play.
Every play mattered, not saying that it didn't before, Johnny
Moe much respect to what you're doing.

Speaker 6 (01:09:55):
This just matters that much now more Now.

Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
I would argue this is where Dan Campbell life in
the National Football League as a player will really help him, okay,
because he's been that guy who's had to step.

Speaker 5 (01:10:07):
Up quote unquote nobody, with all due respect, nobody cares.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
Kansas City doesn't give a rats ass that the Detroit
Lions are going.

Speaker 6 (01:10:18):
Through ultimate Baltimore cares.

Speaker 5 (01:10:19):
Hell, no, they don't care.

Speaker 6 (01:10:21):
No one cares.

Speaker 3 (01:10:22):
Nobody cares. You're not getting any sympathy. And that's why,
even though it's tough, even though it may seem to
some people it's cold hearted, even though it's not. You've
got a job to do. I know it's a cliche,
you've got to move forward. Last year, I would guess
if any injury would have taken the heart out of
a team, it would have been losing your most impactful

(01:10:43):
defensive player.

Speaker 5 (01:10:44):
And yet look at what they did without him.

Speaker 3 (01:10:46):
I'm not saying that's what they can do here. I'm
just saying you're losing multiple guys here. I don't know
how important people think DJ Read and Terry and Arnold
are individually collectively, that's a big blow. Okay, not to
mention Amik robertson and back your scene and where do
you go from here? Good song back in the day,
right where do you go? Where do we go from here?
It's a big, big deal right now on what you

(01:11:09):
can do and you and I talked about it briefly
last week.

Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
The corners who might be available tomorrow better be Jefon Gilmour.

Speaker 6 (01:11:16):
Tomorrow better be a busy day around Allen Park.

Speaker 7 (01:11:18):
You better have at least nine DB's coming in and
do some testing so you can see where guys are at,
what shape they're in, where they at currently, because they
didn't they weren't in a training camp. If they weren't
in a trend camp. Excuse me, You got to make
some moves. You may have to actually go and get
some guys from teams. This is when you see how
good gms are. Rat Holmes all this credit that we
give them, then rightfully, so we give Brad Holmes a

(01:11:38):
ton of credit. Now we need you to go be great. Now,
we need you to go out there and find some moves. Now,
we need you to go work some moves or you're
trading this guy for that guy because it works for
the Lions. Don't give me this, but we can't do
this because.

Speaker 5 (01:11:49):
We have a plan.

Speaker 6 (01:11:50):
Guess what.

Speaker 7 (01:11:50):
Everybody get plans to get punched in them out, and
the Lions have just been punched in them out proverbally
in the secondary.

Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
You and I said it two weeks ago, not to
pat ourselves on the back two weeks ago. This team
needs more corners than they do pass rushers. And you've
got people on a national scope out there. Somebody who's
Kay Adams I believe is their name out there. I
want to see Cam Jordan go to Detroit. Give him
a chance to win a Super Bowl. He deserves it.

(01:12:16):
He's a good guy and he'll be welcomed back with
open arms if he comes back to New Orleans and
all this other crap.

Speaker 5 (01:12:21):
Hey man, no offense.

Speaker 3 (01:12:23):
I don't know, we don't, we don't care. What we
really want is we want a cornerback who can cover.

Speaker 5 (01:12:31):
That's what they need right now.

Speaker 3 (01:12:33):
Okay, because some pass rushers are coming back for this team,
Ali McNeil.

Speaker 5 (01:12:38):
It's the middle of the pocket. He'll come back, hopefully.

Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Marcus Davin I know here comes to the laugh que,
the laugh stick, the Marcus davenpoord, same thing. Aiden Hutchinson healthy. Thankfully,
Derek Barnes has been really good to another good game by
Derek Barnes. Secondary is where this team needs some help addressed,
and we talked about it two weeks ago and why
they needed it.

Speaker 6 (01:12:58):
Thank god.

Speaker 7 (01:12:59):
In that secondary there are still two animals, one name
Brian Branch and one named Krabi Joseph. Thank god, because
if you're talking about having the lack of secondary help
into at the quarterback position, and also you just have
average safety play or decent you.

Speaker 5 (01:13:13):
Know, one super exposed like.

Speaker 7 (01:13:15):
That right there helps. They're gonna have to be major
for that defense. They for Kevin Shepard.

Speaker 5 (01:13:21):
So with that said, I mean, can we give and
I think he's gotten a lot of it, but it's deserved.

Speaker 7 (01:13:26):
I don't want to hear any comments about oh, just
move Brian Branch to dB. Anyone says that tap out
of this show.

Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
Okay, but but Kelvin Sheppard hell of a job getting
his team ready for Cincinnati, even.

Speaker 5 (01:13:39):
Though they were without a lot of their weapons.

Speaker 3 (01:13:41):
Okay, anytime we view weapons, no disrespect. But it's all
about oh, wide receivers, running backs, quarterback. There's a lot
of weapons on the defensive side of the ball, and
Kelvin Sheppard had a plan and they executed that plan
for the most part, good enough to get them to
four straight wins and form one on the year.

Speaker 5 (01:13:59):
So or kudos to him.

Speaker 7 (01:14:00):
Yeah, you see some teams and lost to some bad
teams in this NFL. You see how it works. That's
why you gotta win the games you just posted. That's
why you take no games for for granted. You gotta
win those games. A lot of these teams that we
thought were this and that they've lost to some teams,
We're like, huh who, that's why you gotta win the games.
And they won that game. It was twenty eighty three
going into that fourth quarter. You don't think they took

(01:14:21):
this game series. You don't think they came in and
knew how bad the Bengals were, but still saying, nah,
we got we got something for them. We don't want
to get them any like, give them any little slimmer. Uh.
We called it a sliver. We don't get them any
sliver of hope. Look at the Cardinals, they're bad too,
but look at the Titans, there were worse. Yeah, going
into that game and in two minutes you let them

(01:14:43):
come back.

Speaker 5 (01:14:43):
Look at Carolina's come back against the Dolphins.

Speaker 6 (01:14:46):
Yeah, called that one.

Speaker 5 (01:14:47):
Yeah, and that's something else. Right now, we bring up
Terry on Arnold, But what about.

Speaker 3 (01:14:55):
That's let me bring up two other guys. Okay, so
you brought up David Montgomery. What an incredible story in
case if people didn't see it. Tom Rinaldi Fox one
of the best storytellers in all of television.

Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
He's so good. He tells great stories. It's written so well.
I don't know if he does all his own writing,
but he does a hell of a job. It's a
tear jerker, right, I mean it is.

Speaker 3 (01:15:19):
It's inspirational as what it is, as a matter of fact,
I took it and I sent it to all my
kids and send it to friends. You think you got
it bad, you think you need to overcome. Look at
this what David Montgomery overcame. For he and his siblings
to be by the stove just to get warm, for
he and his siblings to miss meals at night, for
him to have to deal with incarceration in his family

(01:15:42):
and overcome it is really inspirational. Then, of course, with
his sister. This is not a knock by any stretch,
but you Dan Campbell has a bit of a soft
spot in his heart for David Montgomery.

Speaker 5 (01:15:54):
We all should.

Speaker 3 (01:15:55):
I love the way he runs and love what he
brings to the Blionds, but I worry that some times
it's okay, this is such a great story, you're back
in Cincinnati, here's the ball. And not that I doubt
Dan Campbell's ever doing what's best for the team, but
he does take his veterans into account a lot, doesn't.

Speaker 6 (01:16:13):
He He does, look and rightfully so.

Speaker 7 (01:16:16):
I love Dave Montgomery. You love Dave Montgomery, and they
love their players. They bring them in, they have the
conversations and they make sure that they're Lions players. Whatever
that means. They make sure they fit the identity. And
I still remember the first conversation Dave Montgomery have I
said it all the time. He said, I'm just happy
to be here. He said, whatever you guys need me
to do. So he's a great guy. But these stories
happen a lot, man, And to see that story, to

(01:16:37):
see an individual be able to overcome come back to
that same city where these things were going on and
be able to have a level of success, score two
touchdowns for his family, to see that that is the
true definition of getting it out of the mud. Like
that is called getting it out of the mud. That
means we didn't have much, but we stayed the course.

Speaker 5 (01:16:54):
You know.

Speaker 7 (01:16:54):
Parents put me in spaces and then I took off.
I did what I was supposed to do. So kudos
to him. A lot of these type of stories, a
lot of them down the street. I went to King
High School. Sure I saw a lot of individuals that
had the athletic ability that I had, some of them
better at that age when I was younger, but they
didn't have the support. They had a lot of other
things going on in their home, in their neighborhood, in

(01:17:16):
their area, in their family, and it did not allow
them to get to the next level, and it took
them two different paths. So when you see individuals that
stayed that course, that got through those situations and made
it out on the other side, and now they're a
beacon of light, you can't do anything but.

Speaker 5 (01:17:33):
Say this guy, Yeah, amen.

Speaker 3 (01:17:34):
I one of the players I really enjoyed covering while
I was calling Michigan basketball was a kid by the
name of DeShawn Simms who's from Detroit Pete and he
took hard coaching, made himself better, went through a living hell,
losing his brother over a jacket and shoes for crying

(01:17:54):
out loud. So we can get into all the you know, yeah, yeah,
well don't Why don't we value life more on all
those other things. How about the guy who was there
trying to support his family and doing whatever he can
to you know, go to school, get the right education,
and trudge through life knowing that he lost your younger

(01:18:15):
brother because of these circumstances.

Speaker 5 (01:18:17):
I just thought it was super inspirational.

Speaker 7 (01:18:19):
It was to your point though about you know, just
allowing it because of this we understand. Look, he's back home,
he's in Cincinnati, and you know this story. You want
to make sure he gets the ball, you want to
make sure he featured. Also, he's healthy. It's not like
you're doing something.

Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Unlike last year against Washington where they started him and
let's face it, I mean that was sentimentality involved.

Speaker 6 (01:18:39):
Talk about it. With that being said, this the rest
of the season.

Speaker 7 (01:18:41):
It worked because this was Cincinnati going into the Cincinnati
you knew this team suck. They ran the ball thirty
three times, they only had one hundred and eighteen yards.
You tried to only had one hundred and eighteen yards
rushing yesterday on thirty three attempts. And this is Jamiir
Gibbs and David Montgomery.

Speaker 4 (01:18:54):
Fox.

Speaker 7 (01:18:55):
Part of that was a lie. Part of that was
we know who started and left tackle, et cetera, et cetera.
But moving forward, like, let that just because Cincinnati was bad, Like,
don't just force feed the situation.

Speaker 6 (01:19:08):
Just because of the situation when he wins.

Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
One of my favorite things that Dan Campbell said after
the game though yesterday after the winning Cincinnati when somebody
asked them ask him about David Montgomery.

Speaker 5 (01:19:19):
Listen to this quote. I mean, it's really cool.

Speaker 3 (01:19:22):
It tells you the impact that guy has made, not
just on Dan Campbell, but the entire team.

Speaker 13 (01:19:26):
Go ahead, everybody respects. Everybody respects Dave Montgomery, and I
think everybody roots for that guy because that guy will
do anything for his teammates. Like he lays it on
the line on Sundays, he lays it on the line
in practice, like you know what you're gonna get out
of Dave Montgomery. He's no different Saint You know what
you're gonna get every Sunday out of Saint Brown, you know.

(01:19:48):
But David is that guy heartbeat like leaf. Yes, so
he gonna do whatever it takes. He'll stick his face
up there and protection. He'll run the dirty runs. He'll
run downfield to make a block for team in the
past game. He's all fucking team. Excuse my language, but
so love the guy. We're fortunate to have him, and
he's a stud.

Speaker 5 (01:20:09):
That gets me fired that That is a very appropriate clip.

Speaker 6 (01:20:14):
That's okay, slip.

Speaker 5 (01:20:16):
But the more he talks, the more I like that.

Speaker 3 (01:20:19):
There are some guys when they when they keep talking
and you're just like, okay, I've heard enough.

Speaker 5 (01:20:24):
Jerry Jones, thank.

Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
You very much, Dan Campbell. I want to hear him
keep talking, especially when he talks.

Speaker 7 (01:20:30):
About his players, also to a demo man, like he's
the you gotta have a guy like that in the
locker room. And what I mean by that is not
just the leader side of things and actually be a
damn good player. It's he's the guy that can say
things to people that other people can't. He's the guy
that if somebody's messing up, he can come to them say,
look you f ing up, Like I don't know what's
going on at home. I don't know what's going on

(01:20:51):
between you and coach, but you need to knocket the
hell out, Like what you did at practice yesterday wasn't
good enough. What you did in the game, it wasn't
good enough and it be received not every back and
had a conversation. Now, everybody can come to who you're talking,
but if it's but if it's demo and he comes

(01:21:13):
to you and he says that this is Deve Montgomery.
This is the individual that practices harder than everybody. This
is the visual that doesn't care about himself in terms
of numbers, and that this is the guy that goes
there and lays it all on the line for the
betterment of the Detroit Lions. So when he says it,
it has a different sound to it, It has a
different one hundred, Like he's the guy that can check

(01:21:34):
the stars. Who's that guy, because ain't nobody checking out
around St. Bron. Who was that guy for you?

Speaker 6 (01:21:40):
Which team?

Speaker 5 (01:21:41):
Any team?

Speaker 6 (01:21:42):
That's a great question.

Speaker 7 (01:21:44):
Uh So when I was playing for the forty excuse me.
When I was playing for the Brons, was always Andre Davis.

Speaker 6 (01:21:49):
He was a linebacker.

Speaker 7 (01:21:50):
Like Andre Davis kind of raised the Quel Jackson and
his success to twel Jackson had he had Andre Davis
as a mentor. It was Andre Davis to me, But
with the Jets, it was always big Cat Sean Ellis.
Sean Ellis was an elite player back in the day,
had a really good career. He's older by the time
I got.

Speaker 5 (01:22:06):
That defensive tackle.

Speaker 7 (01:22:08):
You're thirteen year fourteen, and he's just man tell him.
But he was a guy that when you heard big
cats speak, when you heard cats say something better, I
talk back because he only speaks when something needed to
be said.

Speaker 6 (01:22:22):
So, yeah, like Sean Ellis was that. And then excuse me,
Patrick Willis. Patrick Willis.

Speaker 7 (01:22:28):
When I was the forty nine ers, he different animal,
such a good line, get like different animal like run
through the wall type and all that. But the silent voice,
I mean soft voice.

Speaker 5 (01:22:39):
Well yeah, I mean spoke when only when needed.

Speaker 6 (01:22:43):
Yeah right.

Speaker 5 (01:22:44):
Some guys just they just chirp.

Speaker 3 (01:22:48):
It's a constant discussion like here, I'm gonna yell louder
than the next guy shall come following when most guys
at your level are like, look, I used to be
the leader. You're just gonna take a little bit more
than that for me to follow you. When Patrick Willis
sounds like.

Speaker 7 (01:23:04):
At this point when I'm saying I'm older at him,
but the seniority or older didn't matter.

Speaker 6 (01:23:09):
He was the leader, and he led the right way.

Speaker 7 (01:23:11):
He sounded the right way, He did the right things
that he When you heard that voice.

Speaker 5 (01:23:15):
You recognized it's really good stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
You'd mentioned Giovanni Mono and you were not impressed with
him at left tackle. Okay, and the pro football focused
grades for what they're worth, agrees with you.

Speaker 5 (01:23:33):
Uh he was.

Speaker 3 (01:23:34):
He was not stellar by any stretch. He was not
a guy who filled in for Taylor Decker and made
you forget Taylor Decker.

Speaker 5 (01:23:41):
Let's put it that way.

Speaker 6 (01:23:42):
Trey Henderson is a damn good player, one of the
best defensive ends in the league.

Speaker 7 (01:23:46):
If Taylor Decker would have been healthy, I don't think
Henderson would have got to the quarterback. That Henderson got
to the quarterback twice because of who's checking him. Realistically,
Jeovanni knew. My issue with this is because here's one
of those, here's one of those. We don't need this pick.
So let's let's let's try something. Let's go to Canada.
I's bet this process is.

Speaker 6 (01:24:03):
Bringing this guy.

Speaker 7 (01:24:04):
He's six', eight he can, move and maybe we'll get
him With Hank, freley one of the best offensive line
coaches in the, league if not the. Best so we'll
get him with him and it'll work, out it'll find.

Speaker 6 (01:24:13):
Itself and it.

Speaker 5 (01:24:14):
Didn't fourth, throng excuse.

Speaker 6 (01:24:15):
Me and it's. Not and they moved up to get.
Him they moved up to get.

Speaker 7 (01:24:19):
Him so when you watch, him, yes last, year they
said it'd be a, project AND i understand. That you
know he was coming, in he wasn't ready And Taylor
decker is not done and maybe it's next, year.

Speaker 6 (01:24:28):
But for WHAT i, saw but then also it Was Trey, henderson.

Speaker 5 (01:24:33):
So you're taking everything into account.

Speaker 3 (01:24:36):
That That's Graham, glasgow, Right SO i mean we're just
showing just what people are. Aware It's Jared, Goff Graham.
Glasgow we're talking About Giovanni manu down here in the
lower left, corner a guy, who like you, said he's
a big. Dude they moved up to get. Him he's
supposed to be a Future let's see if it. Happens
he's got some things to, Learn Jared goff said after the.

(01:24:58):
Game he, said, look he fought his way through. It
there's something to be said for.

Speaker 5 (01:25:01):
That.

Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
Right not every guy in their, debut or at least
early in their, career is going to make a huge
impact The The bengals right Tackle mimes was a first
round pick last year and he got torched on a
pretty regular.

Speaker 5 (01:25:17):
Basis.

Speaker 6 (01:25:17):
Murphy, okay So murphy was the first round pick two years.

Speaker 5 (01:25:22):
Ago, yeah maybe a couple of years. AGO i don't.

Speaker 3 (01:25:24):
Recall but either, WAY i, mean you're you're finding. Ways
so this is WHAT i ask with. Respect is it
because you had a problem him coming From canada and
they moved up to get, him or did you look at,
it looking at it as if to, say you know,
what he's got a long way to.

Speaker 7 (01:25:38):
Go just, OBJECTIVELY i think part of the last one
and more of the first, one more of the first
one was already made a preconceived notion of what this.
Is WHAT i didn't like about the move and moving.
Up then you put him in and it, starts and
so Now i'm not watching it all the. WAY i
went back and looked at a. LITTLE i looked at
the plays in which the pressure happened most oftenly and

(01:25:59):
didn't like WHAT i. Saw to your, point maybe unfair,
Shake maybe already had a preconceived. Notion Maybe i'm looking
at this and not realizing that the guy that he
was going against is the guy we've been begging to
come here for the last nine, Months so you, know.

Speaker 6 (01:26:10):
Maybe that's a part of it as. Well Trey henderson
is damn.

Speaker 7 (01:26:13):
Good SO i didn't like WHAT i saw first, outing
But i'm open to see what it can look like
when the trigger is really ready to be. Pulled Because
Taylor decker being injured forced his hand being.

Speaker 3 (01:26:23):
Played, YEAH i bring that up only because you AND
i both have admitted that much About Alex anzeloni for
crying out loud when he came. Here we didn't think
it would be that big of an, impact and he's
turned out to be a much better player THAN i.

Speaker 7 (01:26:37):
Think collectively we. Thought that's a different. Conversation there's one with.
You you have actually similar. Conversation let me stop backing
up on WHAT i. Said IF i say something'm gonna
stick with. It, yeah at the end of the, DAY
i didn't.

Speaker 6 (01:26:47):
Like to pick AND i. DON'T i still. Don't it's,
okay AND i don't like WHAT i.

Speaker 7 (01:26:51):
SAW i stick with. That i'm not running from. It
when you talk about Alexand, cloni we had film on
what he was out of The. Saints WHEN i watched
on film out of, him he wasn't some rookie that
was coming here from a rookie that was coming Here. Detroit,
yeah film when he's with The. SAINTS i watched the
whole first year twenty twenty. One he could not cover
in the flats like he. Struggled SO i had actual

(01:27:11):
film and actual reason to SAY i ain't gonna work
With Alex. Azeloni insert more defensive. Players Insert Aaron glenn's,
Scheme insert him growing as a, Player insert him getting.
Better now it looks different than what he's done over
the last.

Speaker 5 (01:27:23):
Three, years looks like a really good. Player like if
this is the, play first of, all The saint wouldn't
have gotten rid of this.

Speaker 6 (01:27:28):
Player facts. Facts now that that's.

Speaker 7 (01:27:30):
Different giavoni minnew the project coming out of a whole different.
League he's coming out of whole. League no film since
ly this type of. Film and then you tell me,
that oh, man we got. This we're gonna move up
to get. It like you're moving up to get a
guy that hasn't been in this. League, Yea like unless
you're telling me this guy was An All american basketball,
player you're gonna move in the tight, end which typically
is how that. Goes you, KNOW i have to see,

(01:27:51):
it AND i haven't seen.

Speaker 5 (01:27:52):
Y Antonio, gates Hy Tony. Gonzalez.

Speaker 3 (01:27:54):
Yeah, LOOK i mean there are, Yeah bark And, paul
there are things Or kenny lofton being point guard At
Arizona state going to play.

Speaker 5 (01:28:01):
Baseball, fact there are certain players.

Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
Where you look at it you, Go, okay is that
going to? Work DO i believe in that player or
DO i not believe in that? Player there's a lot
that has TO i Think Dak prescott's a pretty good
example that right now there's a lot of people who
do not believe In Dak. Prescott i'm not suggesting you,
should but doing what he's done, Recently i'm sure there's

(01:28:24):
he's in the conversation FOR mvp at the quarter.

Speaker 5 (01:28:27):
POLE i know it.

Speaker 3 (01:28:29):
Does And i'm not saying he is what the national
narrative Is, DAK.

Speaker 7 (01:28:36):
I, know AND i see the problem IS i gave.
HIM i gave him the credit last, week and so
now just continuing for what.

Speaker 5 (01:28:42):
You did This blen all, right.

Speaker 7 (01:28:44):
You, know AND i congratulations To dek is playing really good,
football and he's doing what he has done consistently in his,
career which is have an amazing regular season and do
nothing in the.

Speaker 6 (01:28:56):
Postseason so Where.

Speaker 7 (01:28:58):
Dak has got, it it's not like a. Compliment it's
like a backhanded Comp, yeah like a backhanded. Compliment at the.

Speaker 6 (01:29:05):
End all the, time he's he put usself in a.

Speaker 7 (01:29:08):
Position he got in, shape he is more healthy.

Speaker 6 (01:29:10):
Than he's ever.

Speaker 7 (01:29:11):
Been he looks better than he's ever, been arm looks
a little, stronger his decision making looks a little better
in this. Space so he's become a better quarterback this.
Season SO i have to give him the credit for
that in terms of glorifying, HIM i gotta.

Speaker 6 (01:29:23):
Wait until what happens in the, playoffs.

Speaker 7 (01:29:26):
Right but right now he deserves he deserves the credit
has been, given especially considering how the season, started like
he started with a. Bomb, hey guess, what your Boy
michael's going To Green bay him And jerry got. Beef,
oh by the, way your Boy Ceedee lamb is about
to be out for the. Season he's still maneuvering and
figuring things. Out, oh you don't have a run. Game
that's a line Because Jonte williams is doing pretty good.

Speaker 5 (01:29:47):
Form that's by the, way.

Speaker 3 (01:29:48):
FOLKS i mean that's not unique To edwards And Dak prescott.
People people have said that forever about the. Athlete Clayton
kershaw is retiring at the end of the. Year all,
right he's her first Ballot hall Of. Famer it's three
time saw A Young award, winner five time Goal, glove
all these different. Things he's thirteen and thirteen with AN
era slightly under. Five in his postseason, career people wanted

(01:30:10):
to see him be better in the, playoffs much like
he was during the regular. Season what you're seeing is
not out of, line and it's something that other people
have brought up with other ATHLETES A, Rod, sure A.

Speaker 7 (01:30:24):
Rod want the best baseball players of all. Time but
for a very long, time what couldn't he? Do nothing
in the, playoffs nothing in the postseason until two thousand and.

Speaker 6 (01:30:31):
Nine so now you're right about.

Speaker 7 (01:30:33):
It because they just want To they want to put the,
chip they want to put the, play they want to
put the performance in the. Postseason they want to put
that with everything they've said about. You so when people
glorify you like they Did Peyton, manning and it's like,
boom he's, this he's, this he's, this you're doing that
because the next step is eventually gonna be the. Championship
so you, think, right so you think so when it doesn't,
happen now it's, like, well, wait now you made me look,

(01:30:55):
Bad so NOW i gotta go against. You you know you're
really not that he the. Postseason this is what it
is until you and SO i told you he was the.

Speaker 6 (01:31:01):
Best SAY i told you That Peyton manny was gonna
get it.

Speaker 5 (01:31:03):
Done that's so that is so.

I told you last. Week like The, tigers everything they
do now for me is it's a bonus Because i'm
okay BECAUSE i didn't feel strong at the end of the.
SEASON i didn't feel, Strong so anything that they do
now is a. BONUS i thought that they was. Sweet
and the only reason WHY i thought, that, though is
The tigers have been playing playoff baseball for the last three.
Weeks they have been In, cleveland they have been In.
Houston it's been on the. Line they've been in the.

(01:39:55):
Playoffs out of the, playoffs they fall. Hard they got
into the, playoffs AND i feel like Since seattle had
a week SO i felt like.

Speaker 6 (01:40:01):
They was sneaking game. One scooba would win game.

Speaker 7 (01:40:04):
Two if you had some hitting, shocker and then they
would come back home and win game.

Speaker 3 (01:40:09):
Three but if so you, were it was fair to
say you were more encouraged over the.

Speaker 7 (01:40:14):
Weekend, YES i guess you're right to your. QUESTION i
was more. Encouraged they, win they go out There, seattle
they get a, win Some asian. Win they were in
the game last night. Lost but you, KNOW i am more, encouraged.

Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
AS i love your.

Speaker 3 (01:40:30):
POSITIVITY i was more, discouraged and it was primarily because
of the runners in scoring. Position they were god awful
even in their victory three to two IN x, ratings
and the inability to cash in again with more opportunities
yesterday and Getting Luis castillo's pitch count up early on
having to go To seattle get their. Bullpen that was
really busy the night. BEFORE i was discouraged with. THAT

(01:40:53):
i did Pick seattle in. FOUR i Hope i'm wrong,
there BUT i would SAY i was more discouraged than.

Speaker 5 (01:40:59):
Encouraged what would you?

Speaker 9 (01:41:00):
Say you know what you YOU i was more encouraged
and discouraged especially when you give me the stat about
schoobl against The. Mariners some things just are what they.
Are Uh and so you know WHAT i. Am i'm
encouraged for The tigers of what they can do to
go out there and pull this thing.

Speaker 7 (01:41:15):
Out SO i feel like also two with The seattle
it seemed like it was It's cal And. Julia, right
It's cal And. Julio there are other two good players
aren't playing. Well Heinio suarez as well as uh, uh,
WELL i guess he.

Speaker 5 (01:41:28):
Did.

Speaker 3 (01:41:31):
True, YEAH Jp crawford's not knows an offensive. Guy he's
more of a defensive. Guy randy Or Rose arena has
not performed all that, well AND i get. It their
right field is kind of a mess, Anyway so it
really doesn't matter to me that. Much Josh naylor has
not been very, good which would also tend one.

Speaker 6 (01:41:48):
To believe stolen.

Speaker 7 (01:41:49):
Bases HOW i looked at, It Josh, NAYLOR i SWEAR
i looked at this random fact that.

Speaker 5 (01:41:54):
Maybe in his.

Speaker 7 (01:41:55):
Career no, no, no, no it was this past. Season
now he's literally has he.

Speaker 6 (01:41:59):
Has this guy the same.

Speaker 7 (01:42:00):
Love he's got the second slowest base time in the.
League he's got thirty stolen.

Speaker 6 (01:42:05):
BASE i gotta look it.

Speaker 5 (01:42:07):
Up, yeah please please do, that just real.

Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
Quick them not being able to take advantage of that
also leaves me more. Discouraged, right are you more encouraged
or discouraged with what you saw over the weekend In?

Speaker 7 (01:42:19):
Seattle discourage the bats again scared.

Speaker 8 (01:42:22):
Me AND i think that if you look at a schoobl,
start it's got it's gotta be a win for The
Detroit tigers don't necessarily know exactly what we're.

Speaker 7 (01:42:30):
Getting like the school, START i think it's an automatic.

Speaker 5 (01:42:35):
Win it's.

Speaker 7 (01:42:35):
Over when you can't Get hitty's school, starts he's.

Speaker 6 (01:42:38):
Won, No i'm saying you have to win the.

Speaker 5 (01:42:41):
Game.

Speaker 6 (01:42:41):
Win i'm not saying it's an automatic.

Speaker 7 (01:42:42):
Win i'm saying you have to.

Speaker 8 (01:42:43):
Win When schoobles starting h the bats, again just scaring.
Me and then if you go back to that, WIN i,
Mean zach mcintry's just low roller right up the, middle
slow roller right at the. Middle but uh discouraged right?

Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
Now forty seven Exit velo's you'll you'll take as long
as it gets.

Speaker 5 (01:43:00):
Through doesn't really mean but you're you're, RIGHT i.

Speaker 3 (01:43:03):
MEAN i that's a serious concern that and AS i
said before before the series. BEGAN i said this at
the end of last. Week This seattle team Is it's Not, cleveland.
MAN i mean They're they're a good. Team, Now i'll
give you try a ton of credit. This you limit
that team to five runs in two. Games you're doing something. Right,
Okay Julio, Rodriguez why you're pitching to him while you're

(01:43:24):
throwing in my?

Speaker 5 (01:43:25):
FASTBALL i have no.

Speaker 3 (01:43:25):
Idea, Okay Luke rayley turns on a splitter down the
right field. Line hell of, an that bad for. Him
rodriguez In game one was really. Good detroit's been right.
There they've been closer than some, people including, yours truly
thought they would have.

Speaker 5 (01:43:39):
Been it gives them an open door and.

Speaker 3 (01:43:41):
Opportunity but they've got to start taking advantages of all those.
Opportunities look at the risp In game. One they still
wont and it gets glossed over because they. Won don't
hide from.

Speaker 5 (01:43:52):
It it's.

Speaker 7 (01:43:53):
Troubling go. Ahead i'm rather these. Up this is how
we're gonna do a no mail. Bag this we will go.

Speaker 6 (01:43:57):
Ahead insane stats from this. Season this is the Bes.

Speaker 7 (01:44:00):
Sports Cal rowley allows zero pass. Balls he And Dylan
dingler correct are the only ones to do. That Byron
buckson did not round into a double. Play bucks is
the only qualified player this season that did. That Josh
naylor had thirty stolen bases despite having the second slowest
sprints speeding mL Jose ramirez had a three eighteen batting
average and nine to sixteen ops on zero and two

(01:44:23):
counts this.

Speaker 6 (01:44:24):
Season Oh Nick.

Speaker 7 (01:44:25):
Castellanoss was the only player IN mlb not to commit
AN era on.

Speaker 5 (01:44:30):
Defense that's because that might be the most surprising one
of them home because.

Speaker 6 (01:44:34):
He runs five to three and he's never with the.
Boss that's so. True Louis, Rise louis.

Speaker 7 (01:44:39):
YEA i know what's coming, here struck out just twenty
one times this season and six hundred and seventy five played,
appearances fewer strikeouts in the season since.

Speaker 6 (01:44:47):
Same team nineteen ninety nine back in the. Day he's
best at.

Speaker 5 (01:44:50):
About there we.

Speaker 6 (01:44:51):
Go Stephen, kwan you know this is gonna be a good.

Speaker 5 (01:44:53):
ONE i think he only struck out like fifty eight.

Speaker 7 (01:44:55):
Times he saw one, thousand four hundred and eighty one
pitches in the strike. Zone he swung and missed just
thirty four.

Speaker 6 (01:45:01):
Times on those. Pitches, wow, them it's just thirty.

Speaker 7 (01:45:04):
Four Aaron judge had more intentional walks Than Michael harris
had walks thirty six to.

Speaker 5 (01:45:09):
Sixteen those are so.

Speaker 7 (01:45:12):
Good Lawrence butler is the only QUALIFIED il player that
was not hit by a pitch one hundred and fifty two,
games and Then Rafaeld devers played one hundred and sixty
three games this. Season Boston Red sox Traded devors to
The San fransis Of giants On june, fifteenth twenty twenty.

Speaker 3 (01:45:26):
Five, yeah and he played first base for The. Giants
wouldn't for The Red. SOX i don't think there was.

Speaker 5 (01:45:31):
A no hitter this?

Speaker 3 (01:45:31):
Year and, all by the, way The Blue jays have
more homers than strikeouts in this series Against New york so.

Speaker 6 (01:45:37):
Far isn't it seventy to two and the two.

Speaker 5 (01:45:40):
Games it's isn't that? Crazy?

Speaker 3 (01:45:41):
Yeah and they beat the hell out Of Max, freed
