We'll miss him for now, but in the meantime we're
gonna have an absolute blast here from two to four.
I got my golf gear on just like you had
your golf guard gear on the other day.
Speaker 5 (01:09):
I see, how did you play? What's going on in
the building?
Speaker 2 (01:12):
Horribly? I was horrible.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
I feel like if everyone was honest, that would always
be the answer. But I feel like people take elements
of the round yeah, and then they only focus on
that and said, well, you know what I played. Well,
you know I had some really good shots, and what
about the other thirteen holes? So if everybody was honest,
that would be probably what you get.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Hey, I do it? Does everybody in this boot? Does
everybody play Yuker? I mean it's some Michigan games I learned.
Not a big Yuker play, but but you know how
to play it.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
It has elements of tongue.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Here's my belief. Golf and yuker are almost the same.
After every hand of yuker, you talk about it. You know,
I was gonna go spades, but I chose not to.
I only had the golf is the same thing, you
know what I mean? I was playing it right to left,
it stayed straight. What the hell happened after every shot?
Speaker 5 (02:01):
For those of us that don't play, you girl on
our side, big Whizz, big Wist is like that. Legitimately,
because you changed the trump. Every round you change the trump,
you go high or low, or you can even go
no trump after every round. Maybe maybe maybe I should
have went high. Maybe I should have went Look, maybe
I shouldn't have said.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
I had it stop, I could guess it myself.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Maybe I should stop playing, stop playing barbecue, so burn
over here cussing me out. You know, I had, I
had had a couple outside. It's a Saturday, and I
can't forget.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
So that's how I felt on the golf course. Maybe
I should stop playing? Yeah, because this is who I am?
When am I gonna accept who I am?
Speaker 5 (02:38):
Golf? I feel like each year your best club changes.
I think that's what golf. Unless you're just a dynamo
with the driver that never changes. But for me, each year,
actually even in each phase of the golf season, my
club change. What's your best club in the back?
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Currently, I would say I'm most comfortable with my seven iron.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
Okay, that's that's that's that's a fair That's that's a
safe one, isn't it. That's a cliche, but yeah, that's yeah,
five iron for me? Okay, because my driver has been erratic,
to say the least, it's been erratic. So five iron
gives me I can go. I'm to forty five with
a five iron, are you really?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (03:15):
And my irons go straighter than my drive. So my
five iron has been my best friend this golf season two.
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Forty five with a five iron.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
I gotta get ahold of it. That's pretty damn good man,
don't don't. That's why I like to be in the
friends a little bit, just off the grind. Yeah, yeah,
you five iron to forty five on average? I'm probably,
but so's.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Your short game good?
Speaker 5 (03:35):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (03:36):
My other parts of the game suck. I'm just being honest,
you know.
Speaker 6 (03:41):
With you guys talking about golf right now, everybody in
the chat is wondering if you have seen it or
if you're gonna check out Happy Gilmore two was.
Speaker 7 (03:49):
Just dropped, Doctor clapping cheeks one. Did you guys know
that Happy Gilmore too just dropped? And it's actually pretty good?
Speaker 2 (03:56):
He's hurt it. Oh he says it's pretty good.
Speaker 7 (03:59):
Yeah, Oh okay, check out doctor clopping cheeks.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
He's a learning I have a hard time with some
of the sequels. They I just don't Sometimes I'm thinking,
I don't know if you're as good as the first round?
How can you be as good as the first one.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
It's not gonna be. They waited way too long to
do it. It's never gonna be as good.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
It does feel like it. Yeah, it feels like it's
way too long.
Speaker 7 (04:18):
Now there's more people.
Speaker 6 (04:20):
Steve o' baby in the chat, he's he addressed this
to you, he said, Braylan. Netflix just released Happy Gilmore Too.
Speaker 5 (04:25):
All right, look, I trust the chat. I rock with you, guys.
Speaker 7 (04:28):
I will.
Speaker 5 (04:28):
I will watch it for you. Steve old Baby always
shows love, so look I check it out. I'll watch it.
But I know I'm gonna be watching some bs whenever
they bring that movie. The only movie that was brought
back after a complete hiatus of ten fifteen years or
more was Top Gun Maverick. Top Gun Maverick came out
his best movie I've seen probably in the last ten
(04:49):
to fifteen years, and it was good. Right outside of that.
When they start doing these things, here comes to Mary,
here's a shoot Happy Gilmore Too, just like here comes
coming to America Too, Just like here comes leave the
Classics alone house Party? Why did you even do that?
Why did you even bring these two to play a
(05:09):
iconic cold Classic. I am not a fan of being
lazy trying to make the bag off of something that
exists already. I even take it even to a more
cold classic, how do You Do? How High? Too? And
I get red Man and meThe Manical. So I'm just
not a fan. But when you watch a movie that's
like that, you got to go back and support just
(05:29):
to see what it is. I will watch it because
I have a Netflix subscription.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
So could it be any worse than the way the
Tigers have played? Probably it's you know, it's become and
it's really too bad. It's become a hard watch, you know.
I mean when you see when you watched Rhys Olsen
give up back to back jacks, including the three run
(05:54):
bomb to Ernie Clement, it felt like he had lost
all confidence. I tried not to read too much into
body language. I love when friends of mine and I
talk about that. Look did you see the body language? Like,
hold onut a second, do you know the guys? What
do you mean by body lane? It's not like you're
blowing up to a guy and said, hey, you want
to go? Then you can tell it's sometimes it is visible.
(06:16):
I thought it was visible last night.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Yeah, I think, you know, you're starting to see the frustrations.
I think you're starting these seriousness, the seriousness a mount
up the concerns. You know, I think they're becoming more
and more. They just don't look like the same team
they were now. They are still primed employers to make
a run when the division, all those things. But each
day we come to these microphones and we're having conversations
about the Tigers. He just looks a little bit less
(06:40):
than they had played the week before, the game before.
I mean, you're talking about eleven to four yesterday, six
to one to the Pirates of all people, the game
before that and then three, Oh why are you? Why
do you have a donut? Is what I'm trying to
figure out. And Yeah, even so, it's one of those
things where it's it looks bad.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah, I mean, they lost ten of eleven. They've lost
nineteen of their last thirty one. My question would be
the two months June and July, or I should say
May and June were fantastic. Yeah, Okay, July's been horrible.
April that it's not a deep enough test for us.
In April they only played four games.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
Okay, They've had an easy season to this point, What
do you mean they've they've pretty much they've been series
winners of a lot of series, twenty two series, that's what.
They haven't faced much adversity until this month.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Yeah, Okay, the losing. If that's what you're referring to,
I would agree with that adversity. I think there's plenty
of times they face diversity. Yeah, they face adversity in
a game where they've had the stage a comeback, and
they've done that. But who are they? Are they the
team we see we saw in May and June or
are they the team we're seeing right now in July?
(07:53):
And if not, I want to know why.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
It's a million dollar question, right, that's what That's what.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Everybody wants to know. Right. Why when do you identify
who a team is? Any team?
Speaker 6 (08:05):
Do you subscribe to the theory of momentum carrying over
from one season to another, because since last trade deadline,
they've been on fire man until now?
Speaker 5 (08:14):
Yeah, and you know what, and that go all right,
So here's a fair You brought up adversity, and you
brought up winning. You said they've been on fire since
last year until now. Fine, this is the first adversity
that they faced since they started that run last year,
it was like, it's no way in hell it was
zero point two percent chance that they can make the playoffs.
Since they did that, made that won that round lost comeback,
(08:38):
had been on fire this whole season. They faced no adversity.
I know what a team really is, to answer your
questions ship when you face that adversity that you talked
about and you come off the other side. This is
an adverse moment for the Detroit Tigers. Pitching isn't good,
hitting isn't good. The skipper can't seem to reach his players,
the players that they brought up, the players that they're
counting on, players that made the All Star Game are
(09:00):
not playing well. How do they get out of this?
How fast do they get out of this? If they
can't get out of this? And we talked about the
twenty games that they'll play if they can't get out
of this. And it's more of this than it's five
hundred ball ladies and gentlemen. That's who you become when
you can't get out of niversity.
Speaker 2 (09:14):
It's also hard to calm a fan base down in
a situation like that. And by the way, I spoke.
It was April and May where they were really good.
June it was just had a winning month, it was okay,
and the end of June was really bad. So it
was April and May where they were outstanding, where they
were eighteen and nine and nineteen and nine. And that's
when everybody was the kumbay Au moment. We were all
standing around the campfire holding hands and saying, you know what,
(09:38):
I love this team, Junie.
Speaker 5 (09:39):
You saw the cracks July. Those cracks are open.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
For sure, absolutely. I mean they are seven and twelve
in July and they are getting run on. They've given
up one hundred and five runs and scored seventy one,
so they're in lies. Part of the issue, I think
what many people are concerned about it, and I think
rightfully so, is that no aspect of the game is
(10:02):
going well. You thought you could rely on a bullpen
a year ago. You camp this year. You thought your
starters were going to save you earlier in the season,
they haven't been able to save you. Now. You thought
your offense was clicking. Was earlier the season, it was,
but it no longer is. You had power earlier in
the season, you no longer feel like you have it.
Speaker 5 (10:20):
Here's the question. The biggest thing with the Tigers last
year AJ Hench's ability, AJ mixing with Chris Fatter, were
able to dial up these programs where they were just
ahead of the curve in terms of which pitcher needs
to go and what inning against what matter. And it
was a pitching chaos thing and it worked well and
then it was like, oh man, this is something new.
Maybe baseball will go this way. Started early a little
(10:42):
bit this year working for us. Now it seems like
the league is called on. Now it seems like the
hitters from the other league have maybe called on. Is
that a thing you think?
Speaker 2 (10:50):
I don't, but I understand why people would think that. Absolutely,
the moves he was making earlier this year seemed to
be all paying off. Now you walk a guy and
here comes Ernie Clement and he goes yard with a
three run bomb, where earlier this year doesn't feel like
that would have happened. Personally, I blame the player more
than I blame the manager. And I blame the player
(11:13):
because look, it could have been the right pitch. I mean,
he and Dylan Digley would know that better than I would.
The scouting report on Ernie Clement and all that other stuff.
He got too much of the plate. Simple as that,
he got way too much of the plate. He's got
to spike that. He's got to find a different place
to find that, horizontally or vertically, whatever he wants to use.
It was a bad pitch, and Ernie Clement drilled it.
(11:35):
Good for him. He made them pay. I don't think
it's as much about that. You can question whether or
not you should have walked the guy. There's a guy
in third base, you got two outs or you got
was there one out? Of course you're going to walk
the guy. It's a righty on righty instead of a
righty on lefty. The guy you're walking has more power,
and you set up a double play or a force
(11:56):
at any play because there were two outs. If there's
a ball deep in the hole, you can get that
out at second, so on and so forth. We all
understand that, right, it's the right mindset. If he doesn't
pitch to him and that dude hits one down the
right field line, you are pissed because you should have
kept it. You had a base open. You should have
just left the pitchers gonna make.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
The pis bad execution.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
Yeah, bad execution.
Speaker 5 (12:14):
It's a long season. You said that, this is the
part where I'll push I'll push back a little bit
to that. Baseball is not like football. Baseball is not
like a sport where football. You play a game, you
got six days to figure it out. You got six
days to get to the bottom of Look what happened
with this, what happened with the protection? What was going
on with the center quarterback exchange, which we definitely will
get into today talking about the Detroit Lions, because that's
(12:35):
something that is ever changing right now. But was it
the center quarterback exchange?
Speaker 7 (12:39):
You know?
Speaker 5 (12:39):
Is it the wide receivers not getting the death? You
got six days to fix that, you know, sometimes five,
depending on primetime game Baseball, next game, next game, next game,
next game, next game. You may have a day off
and that day off maybe a travel day. So it's
a little harder, and that's why you see teams stay
on longer slit skins. Tigers aren't the only ones that
have gone on long skins this year, most notably the Yankees,
(13:03):
the Dodgers so have the field, so the Braves. So
it happens. It's just harder to fix during the season
in baseball.
Speaker 2 (13:09):
That's right, and I don't think fans want to hear it, and
I don't blame I really don't. And while other teams
are making moves, the Mariners trade for Josh Naylor.
Speaker 7 (13:18):
Big move.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
You know what happened today? The Mets trade for Greg Risoto. Gregorsoto,
but it's still greg Risoto. They addressed in need. The
Yankees traded for Ryan McMahon, So the Yankees needed a
third baseman. They weren't going for Ahannio Suarez. Apparently maybe
it costs too much. So they get Ryan McMahon, who
I like a lot. Hasn't had a good year, but
(13:40):
I like him a lot. He's a young player, he's
an old star. He's a really good glove, and he's
got some pop. He's at twenty homers or more twice
in his career. I like that move for the Yankees.
The word is that the Tigers are not going to
be super aggressive. We don't know that. That's just the
word that would concern more Tigers fans if you, if
you subscribe to this, that the league is wide open,
and I don't mean just the American League. Okay, I
(14:03):
have no doubt they're gonna win the division, all right, Yeah,
but I'm talking about the American League. If we think
it's wide open, and Toronto's passed them, Houston's caught them.
The Yankees aren't far behind. Okay, I think the entire
world of baseball is wide open. Yea, how much do
you consider this and say, let's go all in, Let's
go trade for Merrill Kelly, Let's trade for Mitch Keller
(14:25):
and David Bednar. You're gonna have to sacrifice something. You
may sacrifice a young arm or two. You may sacrifice
a current player on your team who may not be
good enough. But you're gonna have to move something to
get it done. Mitch Keller's a good example of it.
Mitch Keller's got some good numbers. I would rather have
Meryl Kelly, but okay, Mitch Keller's younger.
Speaker 3 (14:46):
There.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
The problem is that price is going up, up up. Okay.
This isn't a Disney movie. Okay, it's not a Pleixar movie.
This is going up, up, up because the Yankees and
the Mets and the Cubs, they're all in on all
these guys. They have the same needs.
Speaker 5 (15:00):
Yeah, you know this is tough. You know you waited
to a point where the market is going high. You
got the cash, but you're not typically a team that
spins like that at least, so you know, we think
going back to the Toronto Blue Jays series, I will
also add, it's tough to play against the Blue Jays
coming off that Pirates here, because the Blue Jays have
been red hot, the blue Jays having good so it's
not like they played the bad team. You lost to
the Pirates are a horrible team, and you lost to
(15:21):
a really good team that's in first place actually in
the Blue Jays, so that counts for something. It's going
to be interesting to see what the mindset is because,
as you said, teams are making moves now, Tigers are not.
It goes back into the theory to start this season.
They had a lot of young guys played really well
in the playoffs last year. During the seasons, you bring
them to the team. Maybe let's just see what these
(15:42):
guys can do. Maybe let's see what this is. And
also when you win early, see we got excited because
they want a playoff game. And so now what are
we in Detroit? What are we talking about? All right,
let's go forward, all like like now, now now that's
the new mentality. Scott Harris might be of the other mindset, like, look,
be calm. Last year we want a playoff and I
didn't even think it was when getting to the place,
(16:02):
I didn't think that. I think it might be a
situation where we weren't supposed to do it. Last year
we did. We're gonna chick.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Yeah, I would say this, he's gonna feel it. He's
gonna feel it if if winning a playoff series was
great last year, pushing the Indians or the Guardians all
the way to the end was really good too. But
if he doesn't make a move, he's gonna feel it.
I mean, fans feel like this is a moment of
an opportunity for this team. Now you know me. You
know I don't believe in windows. However, if you feel
(16:29):
like Trek School and I don't know what the Tiger's
thinking is on this, nobody does. The Tiger's thinking is
obviously they would like to keep him. But if you
feel like the schoolbol window is there for this year
and next, then this would be the time to make
a move. Last year, I would remind people this last
year you gave you received two top twenty five members
(16:53):
of the Dodgers farm system, Loronzo and Sweeney for Jack Flaherty.
If you brought in a Merrill Kelly or a Mitch Keller,
would you surrender too of your top twenty prospects for
either one of those guys who would be inserted as
your number two playoff starter.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
Yes, because you have been on this in a little
bit ahead of the curve. And now as I sit
and I look at this thing, I do have more
questions about our starters. I do have more questions about
our playoff depth as it relates to our pictures.
Speaker 7 (17:26):
And our bullpen.
Speaker 6 (17:27):
And at this point in time, if you're talking about
taking advantage of a window that maybe two years with Schoogl, you.
Speaker 7 (17:33):
Have to strike now.
Speaker 6 (17:34):
And I wonder it's interesting between the Pistons and Tigers,
both of their trade deadline strategies change because I don't think,
like Trajan said it, we didn't expect.
Speaker 7 (17:42):
The Pistons to be as good.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Right's right.
Speaker 6 (17:44):
But then Scott Harris a few months ago, when everything
was Rosa, said we're going to be aggressive. At that
point in time, a marginal move could have looked aggressive.
Now I wonder what that is not a whole lot
more needs are seemingly on the precipice.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Yeah, I think, and we'll shift to Lions here and
rightfully so, because there's a lot of discussion about it.
But I would leave people with this. I'm going to
give you two names, and I want just be honest
with me. You don't have to try and you know,
fool me here. Do you know who Chris Rodriguez is?
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Yeah, the Venezuelan player maybe has some aunt Aaron Judge
to his game that they brought in, and he looks
like he can be a first basement of the future
for the team.
Speaker 2 (18:23):
Yeah, he's actually an outfielder right now. He's only seventeen. Oh,
I don't know. But and do you know who Carson
Rucker is?
Speaker 8 (18:30):
No?
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Okay, So those are the two guys prospect wise rankings.
What it took to get Jack Flaherty a year ago.
I'm not saying that's what would get Merrill Kelly or
Mitch Keller. Yeah, I'm saying that's the equivalent of what
you received for Jack Flaherty last year if you play
that out. And that's easy for me to say, but
it may not be true that if you play that out.
(18:51):
I would do that in a minute, and I think
most people would. That's what it's going to take. Like
it's easy for me to sit here and say, you know,
they got to make a trade. They got a train
for a starter. What are you willing to give up?
And who do you want? I mean, if David, if
you could get Mitch Keller and David Bednar, me David
Bednar's a closer, Keller's a starter. If you could get
them for a prospect Sweeney and Parker medals, would you
(19:14):
do it and be a're gonna have for next year?
Speaker 5 (19:16):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (19:17):
Absolutely.
Speaker 5 (19:19):
Let me tap in on this. And I know I'm
quiet when you get to talk of farm teams and
I gotta brush up on the farm system and all that,
and I will, I'll get better. But that's time I check.
I believe they told me somewhere that the Detroit Tigers
have overtaken the Devil Rays in terms of the farm system.
That's all of the farm teams are cooking with Greece.
If that's the case, the answer is yes, because if
(19:40):
all the farm teams are cooking with Greece, that means
you have multiple prospects in which you can add seventeen.
You know what, cool, We're done, We're now. We're not
focused on four years from now, three years from now.
So yes, don't tell me in one sentence that this
is now the best farm system in the MLB and
then in the next I don't know if I would
give them up.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
It's just counter that we're talking about a guy, a
rookie ball and low a and you're and you want
to hold on to them jams. John Smoltz, Okay, you
think one of these guys would be John Small. Come on,
and by the way, Doyle Alexander did get you to
the finish. Yeah, shout out to John Smoltz. I mean,
I just I think if you want to be aggressive,
if you want to get something, you've got to give
up something.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
That's true. The only two names I would stray away
from is of course Max Clark and Kevin mcgonakal just
based on what Bryce Rainer. We can discuss it. But
if I was gonna risk any one of those three,
it may be Bryce Rayner. But when you just look
at how Scott Harris wants to build this. He came
from the Giants, he wants to build with young talent.
Speaker 2 (20:39):
But if you're gonna if you're gonna trade one of
those guys or Bryce Rainer specifically, as you've mentioned, you're
getting a hell of a lot more than Mitch Killer
and David.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
And I would think so too, because for Chris Rye
Reguez and Souff, Yeah, I would give them up dear
kids essentially. But you look at where Max Clark and
Kevin mcgonak or they're already in Double A. They're being
fast tracked as we speak right now, we kind of
expect them to maybe see some time at some point
next year.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
You don't agree with that, I don't know if I
go quite that far. I don't think they've been fast tracked.
I thought they would have been on a faster track
than they have been. Quite honestly, that I thought them
staying at High A this year, for as long as
they did and for as much success as they had
this year, surprised me. Number one. Number two, I do
understand you have to in order for them to get there,
you've got to move others. So look, I trust Ryan
(21:23):
Garko implicitly, I would hold I don't know what you
would have to get to get a big name, you know,
I don't think you'd have to give up a whole
lot for Auhanno Suarez unless the Diamondbacks are holding Look
what Josh Naylor fetched them, not a whole lot, and
he's not exactly the same. But we're talking about a
rental here. Yeah, Okay, we're talking about Auhaneo Suarez coming
here and playing for three months.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
That's it, essentially what the Dodgers deal with Jack Flairny
essentially essentially.
Speaker 1 (21:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Yeah, Would the Dodgers do that over again? You damn right,
They absolutely so? Would you Yes, knowing that it's wide open.
Knowing that it's wide open. This this belief that we've
got to hold on certain young prospects. I get there
are certain guys, but you can't have it both ways.
Then don't tell me you want to hold onto your
prospects and then suddenly you want to make your team
(22:11):
go for it bullcraft, Right, Okay, if Dave Dombrowski could
trade some of the some of the prospects that he had,
and they weren't all that great, some of them were.
Jacob Turner was really good. I get that. He came
to maybe was really good. I understand that. But if
he could make some moves that he felt better in
his team. Scott Harris could be able to make some
moves too, and I hope he will.
Speaker 5 (22:32):
I agree. I hope we're not having the same Actually
I do, and I don't having the same conversation about
another team in Detroit this season, the Pistons, because it
seems like this seems like kind of similar territory. Pistons
weren't supposed to what they did last year. They did
what they did last year a small off season. What
will they look like during the season if they're in
the space where the East is open you can run
and they don't make a move where they're not willing
to make.
Speaker 2 (22:52):
A move, especially with Milwaukee and Indiana. Although Milwaukee proved
the Miles Turner, but maybe they got the right in there. Coach.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
Is anybody believing Mike Brown in New York?
Speaker 2 (23:02):
No, Yeah, that surprised me the time. Boston's gonna be better, right,
Boston's gonna better, But they're no. No, Jason Tatum, you're right,
you can kick that door.
Speaker 5 (23:12):
You might not be there either, Jews out, Jew's gone.
Speaker 7 (23:15):
Yeah, Yeahrew Holliday, Yeah, you're always I'm ready to talk
to I.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Was gonna say I was gonna say Cleveland, let's not.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
I mean Gars haven't won. The small guards have not
won an NBA finals since. Okay, oh, Joe and Isaiah.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Well, let's put it this way. Fact, if my team
won sixty one games and was the number one seed
in the Eastern Conference one year and the next year
everyone's going, sorry, you're not that good. You and I
would be pissed. The hair on the back of our
neck would be standing up. Okay, So I'm gonna give
them some credit. I'm gonna I'm gonna give them, give
you some respect.
Speaker 5 (23:47):
But I'm also pointing out a fact. Facts can't be argued.
The fact is the last small guards to win it
was it nineteen eighty nine, nineteen ninety. It was Joe
and Isaiah. So that's more of a small guards doing win.
So it's not disrespecting Cleveland. I love Darius Garland. I
love what the coach was able to do and come
in there and expid on what JB. Bickerstaff had done.
Small Guards don't win because you can't check. You can't
(24:10):
check Kate Cunningham, you can't check, you can't check. The
Jason Tatums don't want to bring up the ball and
there's six' ten small guards and then when you get
on look at up what's your? Boy The knicks. Runs
you can't guard anybody who are your. Guard that's why
you can't.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Win smart, right fair. ENOUGH i any think it's a great.
POINT i don't know how many people can guard, him
BUT i mean that's a fair. Point you're gonna need some.

Black smove called. THAT i have not set in a

Speaker 2 (30:05):
It you had a hard time getting me out of it.
Earlier gonna be for, You, pharaoh.
Speaker 5 (30:12):
BECAUSE i saw The pharaoh moving knees and ankles and.
ALL i was, LIKE i don't want to get.
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Stuck, yeah but you kind of tass so The pharaoh
would have worked a little better for. You this one
is for the shorter people in the.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Crowd what are you?
Speaker 7 (30:22):
Saying?
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Okay so The lions have some interesting STORYLINES i, think
and and and one of them is you, know something
we've talked a lot. About But i'm excited to get
your your take on the coordinators Of John Morton Kelvin. Shepard,
PERSONALLY i think they're gonna be. Fine all. Right how
long does it take for an offense to get use
(30:51):
to a new offensive coordinator and what could possibly? Change
and then we're gonna hear From Jared goff on his
NEW oc in a, Moment but FIRST i want you're
thoughts on that.
Speaker 5 (31:01):
In terms of getting working with a new. COORDINATOR i played,
offense SO i speak from the offensive side of. Things
it's getting the temperament of the. Players it's kind of
like getting the, players getting used to what the players
are so you can implement your. System but from the player's,
side it's it doesn't, work you, know like how do
you it's how do you? Talk doesn't? Work you, know
especially like how are you trying to get the locker?
(31:22):
Room so like the hardest to get the offensive. Side
my thing, is you come, in you implement your, System
say who you. Are you, know you don't talk about
the past and what was, like you move with this
is what we're going to. Be this is what we're gonna.
Do you make guys feel good about what the system,
is and you go out there and you go out
there and practice that. System IT'S i went through so
(31:43):
many offensive, Coordinators like WHEN i was In cleveland and
everybody came, in you, know this is how we're gonna
do it this, time, man, fail this is how we're
gonna just up. Fail the guy that, Worked Rob, chatzinsky
who did not work as a head, coach but how
he worked his offensive. Coordinator he had something.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
New he made it.
Speaker 5 (32:02):
Fun he told, us he, said, look we're gonna have
a lot of, fun but we're gonna do the right.
Way we do it the right, way and he just
made us focusing on little things like, as like minor
mistakes like Mister simons and things that. Nature we focused on,
that and the game that you, know came. Easy you
focus on knowing where you're supposed to be the minor
things them as the Mister, simons and we were better.
(32:23):
Offense and we actually were eight or seven to one
at the crib that Year under when we came. In
new coordinator liked him in that, space was.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Good he's A bc guy in. THERE i.
Speaker 5 (32:34):
Know it's same, Conference, Miami. Miami he was turning In.
Speaker 2 (32:38):
Miami. Yeah so does he adjust or in The lions,
case do you Think John morton is adjusting To Jared
goff and his guys or vice.
Speaker 5 (32:46):
Versa Uh, No Johnny morton is adjusting to the. Players
like it's not the other way. Around let's. Not let's
not get it. Twisted The lions offense last year was number.
One The lions offense the year before that was number
two and number one in a lot of. Categories So
johnny mo doesn't want to come here and reinmit the
will With johnny mo who Was he was my wide
(33:07):
receivers coach WHEN i was with the forty nine ers
in twenty, eleven SO i actually know a lot about.
Him it's sometimes good to get an OUTSIDE i Am
Johnny mooreen came here in twenty. Twenty he was here
in twenty twenty. Two, right he knows his, team he
knows his, Coach he's familiar with these. Players then he.
Left he was able to Watch Ben johnson and some
of the things that, work which was a. Lot there's
a lot of things that didn't. Work but because so much,
(33:29):
work we don't see. That you, know the average fan
doesn't see. That his job is to come in here
and take the things that he saw they didn't do,
well figure out why and implement that and help. Them
but they're already doing. Well why do you reinvent the?
Speaker 2 (33:42):
Will but there's gotta be some communication between him and his,
guys Specifically Jared goff were in the green. Dot there's
gotta be a rhythm and a symmetry Because goff And
Ben johnson were able to establish that for a long
period of, time like they were like you didn't have
to finish the. Sentence it's like it's like you and
your significant. Other you've been around long enough you know
(34:05):
exactly what the other one is thinking about to. Do maybe,
yeah they, are AND i could be complex, too BUT
i would guess isn't that wouldn't that be something similar to?
Ever and then?
Speaker 5 (34:16):
That and then that's why you should be confident in
This lion's offenses because that lines On Jared, goff who
has been building this offense with the, team with the.
Team were getting talk about that guy down the street,
later but he's been building this in twenty twenty. One
he's been working With danny's been working with this offensive.
Line he's been working with these same. Receivers he've been
working with his running backs now for the last two.
(34:38):
Years so it's on him to get in rhythm With Johnny.
Moe Johnny moe will work Through Jared. Goff Jared golf
has the rhythm of the. Offense he has the cadence
of this. Offense so you already got a guy in,
place so you don't want to come in and shake
up the. Fabric you speak Through Jared, goff you allow
him to be the nine year leader that he, is
you allow him to be the captain and the guy
(34:59):
that it for a large part of the season was
in THE mvp. Category so he's got to work Through Jared.
Goff Jer golf is gonna be his conduit to that
to that, offense and you know, What bray just to
peegyback on.
Speaker 6 (35:11):
THAT i know it's a little bit of a different
situation When Larry brown got, here but he spoke Through
Chauncey billips who was that coach on the, field and
to help make that transition through several coaches in a
short span that much easier in my.
Speaker 7 (35:24):
Opinion to be able to get acclimated to what he
could bring to this to their.
Speaker 6 (35:27):
Team and when you Got Johnny moo who helped to
lay the foundation of this, offense that's Per Dan campbell
in the beginning of this thing and now he's back
as the actual O. C i do believe that this
is this is gonna be as you Know Jared goff
alluded to a great.
Speaker 2 (35:40):
Transition really can't think there's different therapco ladies in. BASKETBALL
i think there's more. Freelancing you've got twenty four seconds
to try and get into a play if they take
your play, away which oftentimes it does because everybody knows horns, horns, yeah,
hards everybody knows what's going, on, Right, Zipper, Zipper. Zipper
it's easier to do that, football it's harder to do.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
That, True BUT i mean With Ben, johnson and we
do have to Credit Jared goff for you, know taking
the reins of the. Offense but When Ben johnson was brought,
in they changed the whole offense to Suit Jared goff's skill.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Sets And Johnny moe was a big part of.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
That he was here for the instar so and you
when you look at The, lions they've built their offense
on having one of the best offensive lines in the.
League Credit Hank frayley for that as.
Speaker 7 (36:22):
Well and they've also.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Built it on a strong run Game David montgomery And Jamior.
Gibbs so like much To braylen's, point you don't want
to change what's already. Working you're going to get your
money on offense by running the football and by you,
know utilizing play, action which is. Wanted Jared goff's best
year to do.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
IT i keep forgetting how much CONNECTION i have this
dog on.
Speaker 7 (36:43):
DETAIL i talk about. It just behooves.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
Me Johnny moreton was my. Oci excuse, me what was
my wide receivers coach WHEN i played for the forty
ninety twenty Eleven Hank freyley was the center for The
browns the Year i'm talking about when we went ten
and six and didn't make the. Playoffs thank. You Tennis.
Titans Steve, hyden who's The titans? Coach Steve hyde AND
i played In cleveland. Together Mark brunell the. Quarterbacks Mar
(37:08):
brunell threw me my last touchdown with The New York.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
Jacks come on and this goes, on we should be
doing the show from From Allen parker and parading these guys.
Speaker 6 (37:18):
In you know What i'm, saying that's on the way
you're coming out of retirement at this.
Speaker 5 (37:23):
Team. Man but you're absolutely, Right. Kase you, know he
helped implement the system in twenty two With Jared, goff
so there's a familiarity. There SO i think he kind
of already knows, that, Okay and that's WHY i spoke
more so to the things that he watched that didn't.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Work, yeah that's where he can come. In and, actually
so if you know THAT kg knows that Kool aid knows,
THAT i know that people in THE chet know. That
how come so much is made of that? Transition then
why is so much being made of a new offensive?
Coordinator and quite, honestly we could carry that over To Kelvin.
Shepard Kelvin sheppard was at the knee Of Aaron glenn
for a long, period, absolutely and those players seem to
(38:00):
gravitate toward. HIM i love What Kelvin shepherd is. Said he,
SAYS i don't have to worry about his confidence to
me is telling about this team right now because he's
LIKE i can walk by the defensive backs, room the linebackers,
room the defensive line. ROOM i don't have to worry
about what people are. Saying WHEN i, LEAVE i Know
i've got the right people in. Place he's the, Man,
(38:20):
Okay so why is so much being made of?
Speaker 12 (38:22):
That?
Speaker 5 (38:23):
Yeah BECAUSE i THINK i can talk About Kevin sheppard.
Too but With Ben, johnson.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
Why did you play with him? Too for crying out,
LOUD i played Against Kelvin.
Speaker 5 (38:30):
SHEPARD i played against. Him but With Ben, johnson so
much was talked about in the last two years from
when he kind of really took over the end of
twenty two about the genius that Was Ben, johnson and
that's become a staple in THE. Nfl the genius Of
kevin O'Connell takes Over, minnesota the genius Of Kevin stephansi
takes over In, cleveland the genius of insert Offense, Lehan Kyle,
shon and which was really one of the ones that
(38:52):
the genius Of sean McVay with The. Redskins now he's
The Los Angeles rams head. Coach that's the same conversation
that was with which was the same conversation that they
had With Ben. Johnson you see the. Numbers the numbers don't.
Lie you see what was happening in the last two
years With Jared. Goff LIKE kg, said but that's why
there's such a nervousness about what this team is mixed
(39:14):
in what happened in the. Playoffs you look at that
can they be better Without Ben? Johnson and then you're
bringing in this Game Johnny morton and you're telling, me, oh,
well you know he was here in twenty two and
he Knows. Jared if you're just listening to that doesn't
mean anything to. You when you're talking about Losing Ben,
johnson who many people view as the next Shot shanahan McVeigh.
(39:38):
O'Connell SO i think that's why we, no, no my,
bad and.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Yet you're absolutely right with the boy genius. Angle BUT
i think that's more so for the media side of.
It for the fans side of it, is we've never
experienced any offense as potent as This.
Speaker 5 (39:52):
LION nfl has never experienced.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
It.
Speaker 5 (39:55):
Record, yeah they.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
Are one of the all time great offenses of at
least you know this decade, Now so, yes that, Wise
so it's for the fan, perspective it's we haven't seen
this much success ever as A lion's offense and losing
the guy that was quote quote behind it that scares
a lot of. People it absolutely.
Speaker 6 (40:15):
Does but the name we've consistently heard this, morning and
that's Why i'm glad we've heard it from Shepend.
Speaker 7 (40:19):
Bray this is On Jared. Goff he's the guy who's
been here throughout all the.
Speaker 6 (40:23):
Transition and when you're talking about a guy who is
just top five and THE mvp voting and the guy
who we, know if everything was, right The lion's probably
playing a little bit longer in that last year's plaoff.
Run this is where he's the one who's been here
through the. Transition you hope he's learned through the. Transition
they instilled an offense that was to your skill. Set
it's like you, Said bray AND i take care of
your perspective to Tard on that he's got to be
(40:45):
the one to go out there and make this this.
Offense in my opinion GOING i DO i take SOME
i feel a lot of times like it's a little
bit of a backhanded shot though At Dan.
Speaker 7 (40:55):
CAMPBELL i think that this system and what what do
you mean the doubts in this, squad.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
The brains behind operation hold on those the real brains behind.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Operations, YEAH i see what you're. Saying, YEAH i don't
think he Gets we've talked about that here YOU i
think it gets new. Credits but if people are taking
a step back at The, lions you could understand. Why
right when you've got two at least two new offensive interior.
Linemen that's a big question mark Because Jared goff And
i'm Not Ron Saint brown And jamier gives they don't
(41:27):
do what they do without those guys up. FRONT i,
KNOW i know people you should watch, it BUT i
know most people don't watch games that. Way those, guys
those guys are. Badasses the guys who put their hand
in the dirt are. Vital, right you didn't address quote
unquote the opposite defensive end rush right of the opposite
Of Aiden.
Speaker 5 (41:45):
Hutchinson oh my.
Speaker 2 (41:48):
Bad you've Got you've Got you've got question marks and
injuries with defensive. Tackles, Right and there is a the
outside outsiders are looking at Like Alex angeloni's not real.
Happy so when you've got all that plus two new,
coordinators which we all think is, overblown but from the
outside looking, in they, don't you can understand why people
would have some question marks about The.
Speaker 7 (42:08):
Lions it's a little bit of a.
Speaker 6 (42:09):
Degree BUT i remember last year when people were trying
to bury The Philadelphia eagles for the noise that was,
happening for the changes that were. Happening we saw that
that head coach was in their quarterback were the ultimate stabilizing.
Figures and if our team is gonna take that next,
step if The lions aren't for, Real Dan campbell has
to be a guy that's above the shots that people,
(42:30):
take And Jared goff has to prove that he is
truly AN mvp Can but you, remember, yeah.
Speaker 5 (42:35):
Remember that next year they.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
Struggled, yeah but remember earlier last, Year Nick sirianni was
screaming at his own. Fans, yeah so they weren't really supporting.
Him he wasn't the guy who was keeping them. Afloat
Jalen hurts, was MAYBE Aj brown Was. SMITH i, mean
there were people Questioning Nick sirianni constantly because he's flying
(42:58):
off the. Handle it's the winning that changes. Everything we know.
That that's the way it's been in football sports.
Speaker 5 (43:04):
Forever when he was able to ask everything and how
they got back to winning. One they went on and
got the number one running back early in THE, Nfl Sakuon.
Barkley the other thing that is they went on Got Kellen.
Moore Kellen moore came in There Dallas. COWBOYS i Played
Big fangel's defensive.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
Coordinator so when you're bringing two new coordinators like.
Speaker 5 (43:24):
They bringing, them that's that's. Different those are different because
those guys have already proven track.
Speaker 7 (43:28):
Records.
Speaker 5 (43:28):
Right you saw What kellen did the last couple of
years with. That whether you Like dak or, NOT i,
don't but whether you like him or, not you.
Speaker 2 (43:34):
Saw that's my favorite. Stuff when you get a little
sneak in there from we should call it The brailan.
Bit it's just a, bit is what it. Is but
you Like Jack prescott or. NOT i. Don't but he just.
Speaker 5 (43:48):
Continues don't, sorry he, comes he. Comes Kellen, moore you
know what they're gonna. Do they get back on track
With Sakwon. Barkley they don't have the same thing here With.
Detroit jo is a relative unknown to the sense of
the outside fan. Base you look At Kelvin. Shepard, oh
this guy has never been a defensive. Coordinator he's a.
Linebacker this cover he came up Under Aaron. Glenn WHERE
(44:10):
i have faith in him is when they had the
whole conversation During Hard knocks and they were talking about,
him Asking Dan campbell should he cut his hair or?
Not And Dan campbell told, him, NO i want you
to be as authentic as you. Can what happened in
that moment is he put a battery pack In Coach
shepherd to be unapologetically who he, was and he has
been that. Since AND i think that he is gonna
(44:32):
he's gonna take What Aaron glynn started here and he's
actually going to enhance it on the defensive side of the.
Speaker 2 (44:38):
Ball under these two, coordinators.
Speaker 5 (44:41):
They have better, players they have better, Talent Like i'm
talking about. Defense defensive they. Do so he'll be able
to take With Aaron glynn and go further. Offensively, no
they don't because it's the offensive.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
Line he AND i will.
Speaker 6 (44:55):
Say this's What Calvin sheppard one of the things that
makes me a little bit more bullish about. Him you
listen to all of the people around the league that
have given him his kudos and, said we knew he
would be a coach all the way back when he
was a.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
Player he knew.
Speaker 7 (45:06):
Everything but you look at these.
Speaker 6 (45:08):
Linebackers all these linebackers at one point in time were
criticized or low, rated you know draft.
Speaker 7 (45:13):
Picks you know when you look At, rodriguez.
Speaker 6 (45:15):
He coached up Every Campbell, campbell but not just but
it wasn't he wasn't necessarily the guy that the fans
will clamoring.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
For but you don't draft for. Fans you, know offense
to people in, chat no offense to me or anybody
who caress Want they. Didn't by the, way those fans
didn't Want Jamior, Gibbs those those fans didn't Want Jamison.
WILLIAMS i agree with those fans didn't Want Sam. Laporta
now they. Do that's not who you draft.
Speaker 7 (45:42):
FOR i don't.
Speaker 2 (45:43):
CARE i want, to.
Speaker 13 (45:47):
But BUT i.
Speaker 5 (45:47):
DON'T i don't.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
CARE i don't think any organization cares that the fans
didn't WANT x. Player then they. Shouldn't, okay they don't
do the research like the guys do in the front.
Office if the guy who's in the front office swinging,
mess they should be.
Speaker 6 (46:02):
Gone but in WHAT i was getting out With calvin,
though is the fact that no matter what people on
the outside, thought this guy did coach up that room
From Malcolm rodriguez and every other. Linebacker and these are
guys that you remember in the beginning for a few,
years fans are, like, yo let's get rid of. Them
and that's WHY i do have a lot of. Confidence
and that the fact That Hank freley is still, there
(46:23):
it got the. Bump that's another one that makes me
a little bit more. Comfortable AND i think that this
year is going to be a true test of the
health of The Detroit lions.
Speaker 7 (46:31):
Organization if you're going to be, good this is what
you have to be able to hurdle.
Speaker 5 (46:36):
One do you know what the hell you're talking? About and?
Two can you can you get the people that you're
coaching to believe?
Speaker 2 (46:41):
That how do you know what coach knows what he's talking?
Speaker 5 (46:44):
About, oh because he doesn't waving from the. Message it's.
Confident it comes out a certain, way even when coaches
say the same dumb stuff when it does not work
like it's it doesn't have that confidence level when you're
spitting it to, you doesn't have that confidence level when
they're on the overhead and overhead and tell you HOW
i am doesn't have the same. Way, clicker you know
What i'm. Saying they got the huddle up and you're
(47:04):
watching practice, like, Well, braylan you know HOW i think
on this, one you should take a twelve step because
maybe like SHOULD i or SHOULD? I?
Speaker 2 (47:13):
Not like when you got to just tell me to do,
it tell me what step? Instead you should take.
Speaker 5 (47:18):
It because we can be wrong together on the field
and then work that out because at least if you
have a confidence on how you relay the message to,
me and you going over and Said i'm all, right bet, yeah,
alright bet So i'll take a twelve if it doesn't
work on the. Field, Hey, BRAAKLEY i think fourteen might
be better because we tried. Twelve it didn't, work and
it didn't. Work now you explain why it doesn't. Work
that's WHEN i started to buy it even. More not
(47:39):
only DID i, work explain to me why it didn't.
Work and then WHEN i went fourteen on that round
and we had success AND i was able to take
that fourteen yard catch and get it to twenty. Two,
okay he knows what he's talking. ABOUT i like coaches
that are confidence and they're not afraid to. Fail sometimes
bleep doesn't.
Speaker 7 (47:55):
Work it's THE.
Speaker 5 (47:56):
Nfl the other guys get paid as. Well the other
coaches get paid as. Well that you're going. Against stuff
doesn't work, sometimes SO i like the confidence to call
it then the ability to, say all, right this is
WHY i didn't.
Speaker 8 (48:08):
Work.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
YEAH i actually love what's going on right now with The,
lions believe it or. NOT i, MEAN i don't LOVE
i can't say THAT i love some of the, injuries,
obviously but my concern going into training camp was surrounded
by the interior part of the offensive. Line the discussion
we're having about their offensive. Line coach has solidified my
(48:28):
belief that you know, what they're going to be just fine.
Toga so that's one. THING i know what has to be,
done we have to see it. First the other thing
is when you When brailn sitting here talking About John
morton and his willingness to listen and kind of just
this is my, offense this is the way it's gotta
be Sparky Anderson, no he's going to adjust to. Them
(48:51):
that makes me feel really good AND i love what's
been coming out of. Camp When David montgomery comes out
and says what we talked about yesterday and what, earlier
What Tarik williams said ABOUT Dj reader and how that's my,
mentor that's my. Guy that's the guy who's helping. ME
i love that. Stuff in other, words that's a young
man who doesn't come from a national champion At Ohio
(49:12):
state thinking he already knows. Everything, okay he's coming, in
he's Going i'm gonna be a. Sponge i'm gonna absorb
EVERYTHING i can from a guy who's been, there done.
That he's gonna make me. BETTER i love that. STUFF
i think that's when we talk about, culture that's the flipping.
Culture you gotta. Have that's the culture every, organization football
or non.
Speaker 5 (49:32):
Get i'm fired up right. Now i'm fired up as.
Well Johnny morton was able to get through to one
of the most asshole players that has ever played in THE.
Nfl ONCE i say his, name you guys know What
i'm talking. About Michael. Krabtree for as great as he
was IN, nfl he's THE. Nfl he Was Okay, college
(49:58):
he was two Time blanikoff Winning Texas. Tech blah blah.
Blah he doesn't listen to anything. Anybody he does his own.
Thing got paid is what it. Is Somehow Johnny morton
was able to reach this brother from the time of
training camp to the time he came back and played
game week. Seven we, eight changed his, tune changed some
of the things that he did in his, game and
(50:19):
it worked For Alex, smith it worked for what we're
doing With Greg roman out.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
There it.
Speaker 5 (50:24):
Worked Johnny mooreon was able to get. That he also
was able to talk To alex And, crabtree AND i
watched this process take. Place i've never talked about it
BECAUSE i never had a reason. TO i watched this
process take place to get somebody Like crabtree to be
able to come. Around it speaks to your communication. Skills
it speaks to the trust that players will have in.
(50:44):
You so that is speaking from, experience AND i think
that's What johnny mooreon will add to this. Team how
you could do, that.
Speaker 2 (50:51):
What you witnessed it first, HAND i mean it had
to be there had to be some connection there between the.
Speaker 5 (50:56):
Two there was a little bit back and, forth back
and forth in the beginning training, camp and THEN i
Noticed johnny just kind of Let crabtree do his own,
thing and he Let crabtree have unsuccess in the offense
That Greg, Roman Johnny moe And Jim harbow were trying to.
Build he had, unsuccess And Johnny, Washington Johnny washington get
(51:18):
frustrated and as opposed to go up to him and, like,
YO i told you, THIS i told you. That he
just went up to. Him just small little. Thing he, said,
look you know What i'm saying on that route right,
there you just if you take an outside release instead
of inside that you may have a Little he came
at him like, that and a couple of those, things
a couple of those. Things now you're having, Success and
now what is the player. Doing, hey so when when
(51:40):
you saw this, play what did you think about my?
Route WHEN i was coming in? Motion what was my? Speed?
Like what is the actual? Concept now you start asking
about more than just your. Position Now i'm, saying all,
right so what's the concept of this? Route what is
it designed to? Do who is it designed to get?
Open how CAN i get better? At that's WHAT i
watch High that's. Fascinating that's a great. Story did he
(52:03):
coach you the same? Way he?
Speaker 2 (52:04):
Did? So he was the same with. Everybody so it's
kind of like being a. Parent it really is. You
there are certain rules everyone's got to a. Body how
you implement them to each individual might be slightly, Different,
okay because kool aid may need a pad on the
back where you, KNOW kg can just taken an. Ask
it doesn't, matter, Right so he's that message with everybody
(52:27):
is the same. Way the way he handles, it, Right,
sorry k.
Speaker 5 (52:35):
You are. Good it wasn't WHERE i remember we were
talking about before The Johnny mother. Thing the. Defense it
was pretty. INTERESTING i had something for that.
Speaker 7 (52:41):
Too Oh, no we we still got defense on the.
Speaker 6 (52:44):
Document we, do AND i got some sound bite From
Jared golf AND i want to be able to get
to the chat family because they've sent in some super chests.
Too So i'm gonna read that comments we'll hear From Jared.
Goff we'll hit these reads and they'll get right back into.
Speaker 7 (52:58):
Them that's.
Speaker 6 (52:59):
Right So michael with the two dollars super chest, says shout, out, okay,
chat this Is Michael. Werry shout out to. Him man
with the supporters, says okay, chat light up that like.
Button but y'all got fired up ship today. Man But
Michael werry also sends another one five downar super. Chant he,
says Remember John morton helped to install the offense used
By Ben, johnson so won't much change except for more
(53:22):
running the.
Speaker 7 (53:23):
Ball just.
Speaker 6 (53:24):
Watch and Then Brian rufe with the two dollars super
chat he, Says i'm it AND i believe. This Iamon
hassenin is the highest character Kid i've.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
Seen, okay not bad for a guy who's only five
years of football in his, life AND i hope he's
an impact. Player that's. Awesome the second to, last the
second last one you read there Regarding John. Morton the
only difference might be is play calling like installing an
offense is one. Thing, yeah all, right, yeah calling the
(53:52):
game during the game is completely. Different, right the feel
you have for your, team the, moment, distance, defense all
that other, stuff, anticipation that is. Different what kind of
play caller do you Think John morton.
Speaker 5 (54:07):
IS i think he'll be a good play caller because
he's not wanting to gets impulsive and he's not one
is trying to go tick for. Tag he's one to
stay his attention to what he's gonna do and he
has a. Scheme eventually that's gonna it's gonna play. Out
it's time For Jared goff to be the number one
quarterback overall that he was drafted to be with The
Saint Louis rams years. Ago like that's what, Now that's
How Johnny morton gets to. Help that's how he's able
(54:28):
to implement a. System you say it's different in calling
plays the implementing a. System that's why you gotta lean
on sixteen. Sixteen this is your. Nine now it's time
to step. Up when you start talking about the, guys
when you start talking to the guys that have been leading,
teams leading, front leading, offenses his name is now one of.
Them this is what he's just doing. So he has
to take that step. Too he's got to take it
(54:48):
out Of Johnny mooreton hands at times they want.
Speaker 2 (54:51):
HIM i would just remind everybody when we had this
conversation last, week who's got the most? Pressure, yep and
it was it was the man on the name of the.
Show he brought it. Up was a great, TOPIC i,
Said Jared, Goff AND i think a lot of it
is because of. This, yeah these these. Expectations he's got
to be the. Guy he's got to. Play it's hard
to play The Joe burrow level On Patrick mahome's. Level,
(55:14):
Right he's got to be in the. Discussion there's got
to be in the. Discussion he has to be a.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
Tip five tarks because AND i absolutely agree with. THAT
i just wanted to add in about The Johnny moe.
Point CAN i also offer you that he got the
most out with The jets in a situation in which
he couldn't even pick his own coaches to be on his.
Staff he got the most out Of Balil, Powell Robbie Chosen.
Anderson you, know the times that he did what he
was able to call, plays he was still able to
(55:39):
get that out of the situation in which he didn't
have total control.
Speaker 2 (55:42):
Of SO i will offer you tells you something. There, yeah,
absolutely that makes me feel even more.
Speaker 5 (55:46):
Comfortable you can Coach Robby, anderson you can coach. Anybody,
yeah that's.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
Fact so he's Coached Robbie anderson And Michael, krabtree two
guys who would be how should we put this? One
two of the more challenging wide receivers he's ever had
to deal.
Speaker 5 (55:58):
With that's why he doesn't. Shout good to see this
dude speaking To Chip. Away he's a he's a.
Speaker 3 (56:10):
Centralick has can never see the field.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
Again you think last Night John morton's looking at The
tiger game going Man Tetrick, Nins, right that's.
Speaker 6 (56:25):
Let's let's hear From Jared goff and it will get
back discuss this a little. Bit we'll get to some.
Reads this Is Jared goff on the. Offense he's he
has seemed to be a little bit uh perturbed with
these questions, about, uh how they're going to shake.
Speaker 14 (56:38):
Out But jared and every offense there's, formation, shifts, motions,
routes run, plays. Protections, uh you KNOW i can keep
going cadences the ways you were getting in out of.
HUDDLE a lot of the stuff we're doing and those
eight THINGS i just named is the same and some
of it's. Different so it's it's it's hard to answer
(56:59):
that question when you know what's, different what's, different what's?
Different some of it's the exact same and some of
it is a little bit. Different And i'm not going
to go into the minutia of what is, different BUT
i think the transition from what we were doing last
year to him is a lot lesser than it than
you guys are making it seem with the. QUESTIONS i,
believe LIKE i get that question every, day a lot
(57:22):
of it is the, same and then there's some stuff
that we're learning that is, new and it's not that
big of a gap between those, TWO i. Guess And
i'm sorry IF i didn't answer what you. Asked but
it's been it's been a great. Transition it's been a
lot of. Fun it's been a, challenge but it's been
a fun.
Speaker 2 (57:36):
Challenge that that, is that is, Awesome that that should
make you even more, excited, right and you know what that.
Is let's just simply, no, no you know what it.
Is and And i'm probably one of the guys who
on the outside are, going that's you guys have no
idea what it takes to call a game.
Speaker 3 (57:57):
Exactly that was a lot of.
Speaker 2 (57:58):
It, okay it is there are so many elements in
this sport that you have no, idea And i'm one of. Them,
Okay i'm fully. Man you know. It you know you
can listen to a call in the huddle that can
be eight seconds, long, yes. Okay and then and it's
stuff that we have no. IDEA i, mean you'd have
(58:20):
to go to The Britannica encyclopedia to look some of
this stuff. Up and that's what That's Jared goff telling
us right. Now you guys are asking the simplistic questions
and here's the answer you. Want, well it's it's really
different because we're gonna run the ball more than we
have in the. Past that's not the way it, works,
Man it's completely. Different this is this IS i got.
Speaker 5 (58:40):
This that's what it.
Speaker 2 (58:41):
Is at the end of the.
Speaker 5 (58:42):
Day this Is Jared goff's version Of look just. DRIVING
i got. This it's the reason Why i'm, here the
reason why y'all paid, me it's the reason why you
feel good about. Me it's the reason WHY i was
IN mvp last. YEAR i got, this But jered Goff
ain never gonna say. This, yeah, right but that's what
he wants to. Say but he did fair.
Speaker 2 (58:59):
Enough but he gave those eight things right, there AND
i bet you most people were just, like, wait can
you go? Back AND i haven't written that down fast
enough care it's. Intense it. Is that stuff is really INT.
Speaker 3 (59:10):
I think he's absolutely, Right like how much is an
offense gonna change in one calendar, year not even a
whole calendar year? Offseason like they're not gonna switch too many.
Things it's a copycat. LEAGUE a lot of these teams
run the same. Place it's just, here a few adjustments,
here adjustments.
Speaker 2 (59:27):
There that's all different. Terminology, yeah all, right let's get to.
This so we've got some really good wearables here At
Woodward sports And Lady. Jeans, yeah Why, scotty you look
even better when those wearables less.
Speaker 6 (59:39):

can use that, word and you can't believe that. Word
okay out fired up chef is. Fresh let's be. Honest
we all like things, simplistic Don't. YES i Mean Jerry
golf is just talking to. Somebody he's trying to simplify
it for. Him but it was really hard to do.
That you never have a problem making really simple when

Do, yeah you? DO i got to sho you really do.
Speaker 5 (01:04:44):
You miss your? SHOES i? DO i feel like.
Speaker 14 (01:04:46):
IT i.
Speaker 5 (01:04:48):
DIDN'T i never wanted. To WHEN i was in, COLLEGE
i just watched all the coaches and kind of like
the time that they had to put in the time
away from the family the time in the off SEASON
i got TO, NFL i saw the same. Thing so
a lot of wives relationships didn't. Work but just looking
at it from the game, SIDE i didn't know IF
i want to balance personalities for a long, time BUT
i didn't have the temperament to sit there and go
through the players like the first player that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
Told, Me, man you.
Speaker 5 (01:05:10):
Wrong now we gotta knuckle. Up i'm, joking BUT i
say this to say. This in the last couple of,
YEARS i have realized that a lot of information has
been poured into me at.
Speaker 10 (01:05:23):
A lot of.
Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
Levels whether it was The Little league level WHEN i
was The West Side. Cubs you, know whether it was
A King High school Or Mister Gallaher High, school Or
michigan Or Browns, jets forty nine ers and the rest goes.
On it would be it would be super selfish to
sit on this information and not pass it. Back So
i've started to consider coaching in some. FORM i don't
(01:05:46):
know what that looks. Like i'm not going to coach
At michigan or The, lions BUT i do want to.
COACH i do want to give this. Information maybe it's
a consultant.
Speaker 2 (01:05:53):
You do you feel like you almost owe it to the. Game,
YES i do to give back a little. Bit the
game gave me a.
Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
LOT a lot of people poured into me that did
not have. To keith, McKenzie Jerome, Bettis Pepper, Johnson reggie,
McKenzie you, Know Desmond, howard you Know Tyrone, Wheatley Jared,
irons you. KNOW i can go down the list of
people at rest in peace To Tom severn with my
dad's you, know really good friend played with me past this.
Year but so many people have poured into me like
(01:06:25):
they didn't have. To SO i got to take that
same information you want to. Do it was a lot of, time.
Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Hopefully what do you think the biggest challenge would.
Speaker 5 (01:06:34):
Be learning how to?
Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
Communicate, OH i think you're a really good. Communicator handling their.
PUSHBACK i would think it might be a little bit of.
Speaker 5 (01:06:43):
It, well that's What i'm. Saying that's the part of
communication is this is a different day and age and different.
Temperaments different kids at every. Level the high school, level
they're still kids to. Me THE nfl level their kids to. Me,
Sure so it's you, know just learning how to communicate
with them in the. System BUT i want.
Speaker 2 (01:07:00):
TO i think it's, fascinating AND i really. Do and
speaking of, That Jamison williams has said that he's gotten.
Better he's really. Optimistic he had a good year last,
year don't you guys? THINK i mean fifty eight rocks
over one thousand yards.
Speaker 3 (01:07:13):
Three hundred to one thousand.
Speaker 2 (01:07:14):
ABSOL i, mean, WELL i mean it was. HEALTHIER i
thought he matured. Absolutely, Okay So i'm gonna be full front.
HERE i wasn't a huge. Fan, oh that don't surprise.
ME i wasn't a huge fan BECAUSE i didn't think
he was very. MATURE i thought he did things for
himself instead of the. TEAM i don't like players like. That,
HOWEVER i can at least admit just BECAUSE i don't
(01:07:34):
like a player doesn't mean THAT i can't say that
he's really. GOOD i thought he was very good.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
Like and when does it ever come out that he
was unprofessional or not a team guy like during that
whole stretch of him and you get.
Speaker 2 (01:07:45):
Busted go, Ahead i'll make it even easier.
Speaker 5 (01:07:50):
In the conversation because the dad semantics going back and.
FORTH i get that, Conversation what were you like at
twenty years?
Speaker 2 (01:07:56):
Up, WELL i wasn't that. Talented, no, no, NO i
wasn't the.
Speaker 5 (01:08:04):
Mistakes and things that we put On damons And. Williams he's.
TWENTY i got drafted at twenty. Two everybody KNOWS i
made a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:08:10):
Mistakes we all. Do we all make a couple of.
Speaker 5 (01:08:13):
Mistakes he's two years younger THAN i. WAS i couldn't
imagine being in his space at twenty years old getting.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
Drafted, YEAH i don't think it's fair to compare me to,
him because you KNOW i. WAS i was forced with
the death of my father early on in my life
to maybe grow up a little bit. First but WHEN
i say, SELFISH i mean more about when you get.
SUSPENDED i think it's. Selfish, okay you're not smart about certain.
Things it hurts your team when you're on the field
(01:08:39):
of play and you're doing things that you know are
not helpful for your. Team it bothers, me all. Right
no one's. Perfect we all make, mistakes we all mature
at different. RATES i can at least admit the guy
was really really good a year, ago and he's talking
about he's more polished in his route game That John
morton letting him run more. Routes he can use more,
(01:09:03):
routes and that he's put him already in a position
to run more routes that make him feel more comfortable
with cuts and. Angles how do you want to see
a guy Like Jamison williams get better this? Year take
that next? Step if you think there is a next
step for, Him i'll.
Speaker 5 (01:09:20):
Take exactly what he said in this. Sense he wants
to run. Routes he wants to run different types of.
Routes WHEN i Watch Jamison williams from Now, miami From
alabama to THE, nfl it just seems like a, super
super ridiculously athletically talented player that coaches have just pointed and, Clicked, Hey,
jamo line up, there run a go. Route jamo line up,
(01:09:41):
here run a zero, screen will throw you the, ball
make somebody miscore. Touchdown, jamo go over, there run a post.
Route those are really the only three four routes he's,
given and those are only commands he gets to THE.
Nfl jamo run his go. Route, jamo run this go. Route,
jamo run this. Reverse, jamo here's the end. Zone we
(01:10:01):
want you to get in the. Slot run a. Slot
so it's he's been running the same things and he's
doing the same thing for the last five.
Speaker 3 (01:10:09):
Years.
Speaker 5 (01:10:09):
ESSENTIALLY i want to see him learn the. GAME i
want to see him now approaching from the standpoint like
Amar Ron Saint brown. Does a'm On Ron Saint brown
knows all of the positions on the. Field i'm not
Telling jamo to go out there and have to know
What Glass galla is doing on his player Or Tate
rallis is doing on his. Player word pid the soul's
going on his. Play it, helped But i'm not telling
him to do. THAT i want you to down and
(01:10:30):
become a rout. Runner Let Johnny moe be comfortable with
sending you on an eighteen yard DIT i mean eighteen
yard comeback route when it's third and. Twelve let Let
Jared goff be very comfortable trusting you in certain players like,
EH i, KNOW i KNOW i can Trust Jameson William right,
now who do we trust on third? Down in our
(01:10:51):
minds as fans and we think they're, players It's i'm
Around Saint brown wherever he's, At he's, like that's the
guy we. Trust that's the guy's third. Down and Then,
patrick when you get inside the red, zone that's the
guy you want to. Touch the ball As patrick and then, YEAH.
Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
I would this may sound a little hyperbolic, HERE i
trust them. All if you threw the ball To Jamison,
WILLIAMS i think he's got good. HANDS i Think Aman
Ross Sam brown has great. HANDS i Think Jameson williams
is good. HANDS i think Sam La purta's got great. Hands,
YEAH i Trust Jamiir. Gibbs out of the. Backfield you
bring Up John, morton AND i love What Jameson.
Speaker 5 (01:11:25):
Williams Jameson, WILLIAMS i switched to switch positions to go
FROM z TO x TO a and rotate around that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:32):
OFFENSE i Don't, Okay well you you would know that
better than anybody because you know what they're responsible. FOR
i can't speak to, that but WHAT i do know
is the attachment or the camaraderie that has been built
already Between Jamison williams And John morton has been really.
Impressive listen to what he. Said williams said About. Morton
(01:11:56):
he's attacking every aspect of the. Game he's really. AGGRESSIVE
i like that. HIM i love that about, him the
way he, coaches the way he calls his, plays how
he attacks the game and everything that to me screams,
Again i'm getting even more excited about what this team
is capable of despite some of the. Changes that to
(01:12:16):
me screams confidence From Jamison williams and maybe a career
year for.
Speaker 5 (01:12:22):
Him you can grow as A you can grow at
your position without growing as a. Player you can grow
at your position Like jamison did last. Year he was
a better receiver last. Year he had a thousand and
fifty eight catch fifty eight. Catches you saw the yards
per catch day. Round BUT i don't know if he
necessarily grew as a. Player growing as a, player it
(01:12:43):
takes a collaboration with the offensive. Coordinator it takes a
collaboration with the. Quarterback it takes a collaboration to grow
as a. Player to now unders kind of LIKE i
was talking, about, understanding what is it THAT i can
do in his offense that would achieve the most? Success
how CAN i learn this? Offense what DO i need
to be to learn that? Success that's growing as a,
player and that has to come from having a coach
(01:13:04):
that you, like a coach that you trust and don't
give me THAT i don't gotta like. Coach that's bs
you have to like a. Coach if you want to
attain this type of. Success it seems like like to your,
Point jameoon have that. Relationship they're both Named. Jamo maybe
that's where you, Start jamo And. Jamo BUT i think
he's seeing somebody that likes, him somebody wants to pour into.
(01:13:25):
Him AND i don't know what the relationship was With
Ben johnson And. Jamo but what you, mentioned what you
named a lot of Times jamo wasn't, available, Correct so
what does that do to an offensive coordinator who's trying
to come up with a scheme to get you in?
There and, OH i can't use you this week because of.
THIS i can't use you this. Week because of, THAT
i have to worry about are you going to do
(01:13:45):
something throughout the course of the week to WHERE i
won't be able to use you On. Sunday SO i
don't know if been necessarily rock With, Jamo and Maybe
jamo got that energy and so it's not a Trusting
Jamo Johnny morton that, is he's already started to build that,
bridge AND i think it's Bringing jamison into the spotlight
where he won't be you, know three in the morning
(01:14:06):
Eating wings Of Coney island is not it is.
Speaker 2 (01:14:08):
Not a, crime but it's not exactly what the nutrition is.
His that's. Right you know this has come full circle
because we had a discussion earlier Where braylan was talking
About John. Morton you're talking About John morton how he
(01:14:28):
Handled Michael crabtree And Scotty anderson right and and or
a lot of different, players, okay and how he was
able to deal with them. Right Jamison williams, said he's
a GREAT nfl. COACH i love. Him he's taught me
so much just from being in his room since he
got the, job and to this, day it's going to
(01:14:49):
get better and. Better he knows the. GAME i love
the way he. Coaches he lets players be players and
he's still.
Speaker 5 (01:14:56):
Coaching on top of, that players still like a level
of individual like players like players being. Players that means
you see this picture that everybody can see it right.
Now if you, know if you're Watching jamo holding his hands,
up being, himself there's just a level of individuality that players.
Have some players are. Funny they crack little jokes at.
Tires maybe you shouldn't crack a, joke but because that's
(01:15:17):
who they, are certain coaches let it slide and get
back on. Track it's just certain, things but that's the
individual with the individuality part of the. GAME i want
to be the guy was At, alabama BUT i want
to sprinkle some new stuff on it and add to
The Detroit. LIONS i feel like he feels as though
he can now do. That i'm A Saint brown like
he is definitely, himself but he is also the player
(01:15:38):
that you can lean, on you can, trust and gets
better and understands the game from all. Aspects on that
side of the.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
BALL i love that. Part love, it, Man it's really.
Good anything else from the.
Speaker 6 (01:15:47):
Chat the, chat they're really really bullish on One Jamison
williams and they want a jersey.
Speaker 7 (01:15:56):
Bat they want you to make a jersey.
Speaker 6 (01:15:58):
Bat, Brother And i'm seeing the people here the chat
and one of the guys from from the morning from
the previous morning, show he was, Like, hey look we were.
Speaker 7 (01:16:06):
Pistons that's.
Speaker 6 (01:16:06):
Me in the, chat he, says you think we can
squeeze Another jamo jersey bet with someone wink, wink AND
i think that's You bray as relates To James, listen
they had last year flannel he went and said one
thousand yards and.
Speaker 7 (01:16:21):
Then he'll go and get A gemo. Judge he didn't
think he.
Speaker 5 (01:16:23):
Was he wasn't a.
Speaker 7 (01:16:24):
Believer he didn't think he was gonna do.
Speaker 6 (01:16:25):
It But i'm seeing people in the chat right now
who do Believe jamo is on par For stat's like
fifteen hundred yards and fourteen touchdowns on the. Season is
there some place between maybe one thousand and thirteen hundred
yards you're willing to settle for and if he gets,
it you'll get That jamo.
Speaker 7 (01:16:43):
Jersey what's what's the standard for?
Speaker 5 (01:16:44):
YOU i get A jamo jersey. Tomorrow JAM i feel
like the chat BELIEVES i don't believe In Jameson. Williams
LIKE kg correct these people arguing with the person they
used to sit there About jamos big fan all last.
Speaker 2 (01:16:56):
Year if you want to.
Speaker 5 (01:16:57):
Go even further back to start the season last who
was the guy that Said jamo was gonna have four
hundred yards more Than i'm A Saint brown?
Speaker 7 (01:17:04):
BUSINESS i stand on.
Speaker 2 (01:17:06):
BUSINESS i remember The.
Speaker 5 (01:17:07):
National championship game where they were about to Be georgia
was the best Team i've seen the last fifteen.
Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
Years but he.
Speaker 5 (01:17:11):
Towards a CL i Love Jamison. Willis i'm just speaking
on how he can get. BETTER i think that was a.
Speaker 2 (01:17:18):
Question that's WHAT i asked. You was gonna get.
Speaker 5 (01:17:20):
Better it was gonna get better this. YEAR i think
he will have more yards And i'm Around Saint. BROWN
i go back to.
Speaker 3 (01:17:24):
THAT i was just about to, say how much better,
though BECAUSE i think he's capable of All pro season
this year and you've seen My rod get that with
fourteen hundred and a lot of. Touchdowns you say, no.
Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
Because all pro is. Different All pro is not just
about yards like all pro is about dominance IS i,
mean he, blocks he does all those. Things but when
you're talking All, pro you're talking about the elite of the.
Elite if you are, pro you're damn near the best
player on your. Team, true But rod did, it AND
i think Right Sat brown is the best player on the.
Speaker 3 (01:17:53):
Offense no, Agreed but With jamo's, SKILLS i would.
Speaker 2 (01:17:56):
Disagree but go. Ahead i'm talking about, okay.
Speaker 5 (01:18:00):
But i'm talking about to the consistency of. That Like
James Jamior, gibbs they still didn't trust him to the
end of the. Season amon has been trusted absolutely the
last three.
Speaker 3 (01:18:08):
Years you, said just speaking of, it with a skill
set That jamo. Has he is absolutely capable of. That
arguably can be the number one receiver on this. Team
but he if he takes the, League if he.
Speaker 5 (01:18:19):
Takes the, league he hasn't shown from look From alabama To. Detroit,
Now i'm gonna regress on the. Point i'm gonna push.
Back even In alabama when he had fifteen fifty eight
and he did all this tremendous, Things he's running the
same ROUTE i heard At. Alabama you bring him to THE,
nfl it's the same. Thing I'm alroy Say, brown who's
All proride receivers doing this thing over. Here you got
Samla porter two, years got this offensive. Line he's fighting his.
(01:18:40):
Way he's not doing anything in the last year that
has become all.
Speaker 8 (01:18:45):
Pro.
Speaker 5 (01:18:45):
True he hasn't run the. Routes he hasn't made the
players jumps over. People he hasn't caught a pass when
it's you, know third and twelve and you need to
get he's got a broken, Tackle like this is all pro.
STUFF i get.
Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
That but if he's speaking this way Of Johnny moe
in the new, system and he's buying into this, system
you don't think that is possible for him to maybe
take that lead this. Year we've seen him take a
huge leap.
Speaker 2 (01:19:06):
Already, yeah he.
Speaker 5 (01:19:07):
Went to a thousand and he's, Fast like you got seventeen,
Games like you catch fifty eight, passes play, action you're
number one in the. League you're gonna get a lot
of yards when you run four. TWO i think he
could take a huge, step for. Sure but to take
that step to all, pro you're talking about Dethroning Justin, Jefferson,
JIM i Mean chase Aj brown, like and the list
(01:19:30):
goes on the wide. Receiver you're talking about de throwing
someone of them. GUYS i don't know if he's, There.
Speaker 2 (01:19:34):
No he's. Not i'm gonna take it one step at the.
Time how about crack him the top fifteen we?
Speaker 5 (01:19:38):
GO i know that be better Than Davonte.
Speaker 3 (01:19:41):
SMITH i think he already. BETTER i feel, you BUT
i think he's already.
Speaker 5 (01:19:45):
BETTER i think so, too but not. Consistently you gotta
go out there and do. It Davonte smith has the
most yards and playoff history for The eagles, already.
Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
Right, RIGHT i WOULDN'T i wouldn't go that far WITH
i would say this to your, point, though when you
have a player coming out and talking this. Way AND
i don't mean all the love that he's given To John.
MORTON i mean Saying i'm, More i'm polishing my. Routes
he's running different. Routes i'm running more. Routes, conversation that's
the stuff That braylan's referring, to AND i think it's
(01:20:13):
got great. Perspective absolutely because, ATHLETES i say this all the,
time it's hard to impress. Him, yeah, right as you
AND i running Down woodward catching a pass is not
gonna impress. It but If i'm able to maneuver between,
that you Know suv from Less stanford in another. One but,
no What i'm saying is if he's taken the approach
(01:20:36):
that he wants to be, different Like braylen was, saying
he instead of running the same routes all the, time
that's making him a more complete. RECEIVER i would like to.
Speaker 5 (01:20:44):
SEE i would like to See Jamison williams grade sheet
game back game from last year and the year before
versus this, year because that's when you see how people get.
Better and WHAT i mean by that after each, game
coach is, great every play that you went to and
to give you a, score, right all pro wide receivers
(01:21:05):
or all pro. Players they're scoring ninety and up each.
Game this MEANS i can depend on you to be
everywhere you're supposed to be lined. Up you run all
your routes at the right, depth you get into the
windows that you're supposed to get. Into so if you're
running a dig, route which is fifteen breaking in if
it's covered, too don't go break in fifteen and fly
across like his man covers because guess what's gonna. Happen
(01:21:26):
you're gonna cross jerk off to throw an, interception which
we don't want him to. Do so you got to
sit in that space because it's covered, too and that's
to protect the. Window those are the THINGS i want
to see that grade sheet this, year BECAUSE i guarantee
you his seats from, before we're probably seventy five, percent
seventy four, percent seventy one maybe in eighty.
Speaker 2 (01:21:42):
Five what was the highest you ever? Got was the
lowest she ever?
Speaker 5 (01:21:45):
Received one hundred and forty? Eight, wow forty eight because
my my, receivers because it was a.
Speaker 1 (01:21:51):
Dick but.
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
You got a question for, you.
Speaker 5 (01:21:56):
Man WHEN i received on forty, EIGHT i ain't triggering.
Speaker 7 (01:22:02):
OUT i was gonna, say bright when a wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Almost, COMPOSED i got.
Speaker 7 (01:22:14):
Start look at, this it's on the screens to hear
the venis let me come.
Speaker 6 (01:22:19):
Up, no, no, Uh when you put yourself on the
map and you take the leap That James williams, does
because we're talking about what you want to see him
do this, year what does that do for the? Defense
like now all of a, sudden is he popping up
on more scout reports or was he somebody that was
already factored into a certain degree because last year we
did see him get a little bit better at going
across the middle such AND i do, wonder, uh you,
(01:22:39):
know from YOUR nfl, perspective what does this mean For
Jamis williams going into this? Season BECAUSE i do believe
now more than, ever he's going to have to be
getting better at some of those small things and some
of those tweets at the route running and getting more
crisp and.
Speaker 7 (01:22:51):
Cleaner.
Speaker 5 (01:22:52):
Yeah, no If James williams takes the leap that even
if he takes the leap in the middle of WHAT
kg AND i think, it it Makes Johnny mooreon's job,
Easy like not, easier it makes it easy because offensive
line is. Concerned right, now you gotta got four two
that knows where the hell he's supposed to. Go he
gets upen a little, faster which, means, now to your,
(01:23:13):
point Kool, a here comes road. Coverage here comes the
safety cheating on his. Side here comes THE dB Over,
Here here comes the linebacker shading a little to that,
side which, means now all this information over here is.
Open Now i'm Around Saint, brown who's already An All.
Pro now he has room to wiggle with and play.
With oh you also told Me Jimiyor gibbs wants to
catch out a slot And Angle rocks makes it fast
(01:23:35):
to get the ball in his, hands so you don't
have to worry about this. Blitz and Then Dave, montgomery
so if he can be that player to take that
step that he's talking, about polished, routes getting his depth
blocking when you're supposed to just diving to all that this,
is it gets, scary If i'm being, honest it gets
scary with.
Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
This, talent it gets. Scary let's hope it's really scary
for opposing. Defenses nothing scary about Black, rock, though nothing but,
Good oh there man really steak.
Speaker 7 (01:24:03):
Even if you cook your own, steak nothing scary about
seven fifty.
Speaker 2 (01:24:06):
Five unless you're just cooking it to well. Done no hockey.
Speaker 5 (01:24:10):
Pucks around, here, right you want to burn your, steak
cook it seven to fifty, five but it's seven fifty five.
Degrees it is, Fire but we're not here to talk about.
That they also have giveaways and that's what we want
to go. To eight weeks of. Giveaways you see that
steak right, There. Cizling you get an opportunity if you
scan THIS qr. Code but my hair to win that
four a, year uh four, years one meal every, month
(01:24:33):
that's twelve. Meals, hey look that's gonna be fire scanning
THAT qr. Code you want to get in on. That
tiger sickets are, gone but we do have more the
big ten opener four, tickets four Tickets september, fourteenth which
is coming. Up want to get you involved in. That
you see the shirt on, rockets so you Know i'll
be in the mix and be in the building as.

Speaker 2 (01:24:52):

Network you heard IF i asked you the question of
which team needs to upgrade its roster more than any
other in this. Market what would it be in THE?
Speaker 5 (01:29:43):
Nfl oh In.
Speaker 2 (01:29:44):
Detroit In, detroit that's.
Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
TOUGH a lot of people will say Red wings right.
Speaker 2 (01:29:48):
NOW i would Say wings.
Speaker 3 (01:29:51):
First, yeah you can make argument for The tigers for,
sure and The, pistons BUT i would, Yeah wings And tigers.
Speaker 2 (01:29:57):
The, Most wings And tigers the. Most, yeah there's a
team with sixty. Wins that leads it to.
Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
ME i, know, Man But, Dave i've said this from
the beginning of the. Year they were always an incomplete.
Roster they've played above their. Head, sure you got a
career here From zach McKinstry And Hobby Baas rolls from The.
Dead you had a lot of things go Right, torkos
and you had a lot of things go right this
year with The. Tigers but this is far from a complete.
ROSTER i think most people would.
Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
Agree i'd, say, YEAH i would agree with. That, YEAH
i JUST i find it interesting that it's The tigers
over The pistons with their.
Speaker 7 (01:30:29):
ROSTER i wouldn't.
Speaker 5 (01:30:34):
One playoff.
Speaker 3 (01:30:34):
GAME i think The pistons are on track to, me
BECAUSE i, mean, yes you did lose a little bit
this free agency.
Speaker 2 (01:30:42):
Period but for the.
Speaker 3 (01:30:44):
Pivot That, TROY i mean Not, troy But trajan had to.
Make you Replaced beasley With Duncan. Robinson that kind of
cancels each other. Out Karris lavert is a better bench
piece than what you had. BEFORE i think they're on.
Track could they have added a little, more, sure BUT
i think they're on.
Speaker 5 (01:30:59):
TRACK A royminson. Thing, LOOK i Love Duncan robinson as
a universe missing respect to all, that But Duncle rominson
ain't hit. Assassins he got paid.
Speaker 7 (01:31:10):
All the.
Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
Time He, shoot, wait, man you Said Kris lever is
a better bench player than they, got do you?
Speaker 5 (01:31:14):
KNOW i mean if you if you think starter, starting
you think he's. Starting, yeah well there's an, argument there's
A i don't know he gets to the, cup but
now he's a And ivy is coming.
Speaker 3 (01:31:26):
Back he's gonna always giving.
Speaker 2 (01:31:27):
Back but that's not the same. Position who are the?
Starters if you had the starters right, now.
Speaker 3 (01:31:31):
K, J, yeah K ivy a, star that four spot
is the tough. One you will still start to buy
us at this. Point and and, yeah, OKAY i. DON'T
i don't look At force. Anymore for, EXAMPLE i used
to look at that, BASKETBALL i don't look at it any. Long,
yeah because look At Golden state starting line three guards to. Forward,
(01:31:52):
yeah they're they're a unique. Situation, CLEARLY i think there's.
Speaker 7 (01:31:55):
A lot OF i actually do feel The pistols have
to do a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:31:59):
More you.
Speaker 6 (01:31:59):
Know you you look at the fact that when, offseason
when the off season, started if everybody just kind of
like laid into their, dysfunction, cool but you saw teams
go and, say you know, What Boston celtics didn't want
to just sit out of the, Bay Orlando magic didn't
want to say out of the. Bay you saw the
teams go out there and actually try and do things
to most of. Themselves and that's WHY i do Believe
(01:32:21):
boston Or boston didn't or SO i don't think that
they're going to be.
Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
ATTRACTED i don't they've subtracted THEY i don't think they've necessarily.
ADDED i Think orlando. Has he brings UP kg brings
up something pretty. Interesting THEN i went to dive back.
Intootball he, said you, know The tigers have played above their.
HEADS i THINK i get a lot of that WHEN
i talk to fans AND i talk to people out,
there because they don't think there's anybody on this team
(01:32:48):
who is quote end quote a superstar or a star.
PLAYER i mean.
Speaker 3 (01:32:52):
School but that's.
Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
It So Riley green's Two All stars doesn't mean. Anything,
no it.
Speaker 3 (01:32:57):
DOESN'T i wouldn't say. That but he's a good to
a great. PLAYER i wouldn't call him elite at this.
Speaker 2 (01:33:02):
Point he's the best left fielder in.
Speaker 3 (01:33:04):
Baseball, WELL i mean in terms OF ao he's he's
in the top, three he's in the.
Speaker 2 (01:33:08):
Mix he won The Fielding bible a year. Ago he
should have been A Gold glover and An All star year.
Ago so the only THING i would ask, you and
then we'll move back To, lions.
Speaker 5 (01:33:18):
Is that Bias tigers are your.
Speaker 2 (01:33:19):
Team, no it's.
Speaker 7 (01:33:20):
Not it's not a.
Speaker 2 (01:33:21):
Bias it's AND i Love Riley. Green so people could
understand why there might be some bias. There BUT i
can separate the. Two you know there is no bias.
Speaker 5 (01:33:29):
HERE i just had to ask a.
Speaker 2 (01:33:31):
QUESTION i appreciate. It The, yankees who are are oftentimes
viewed as a standard in The American, league which sometimes
make me throw them in my, mouth is. Horrible they
have a superstar And Aaron. Judge who else do they.
Speaker 5 (01:33:41):
Have not a, lot, Struggling Anthony, vope inconsistent. Chasism maybe
you want Ben?
Speaker 2 (01:33:47):
Rice do you want not at? All SO i THINK
i think sometimes you gotta be careful with. That but
would YOU i would love to have A. PHILLIES i
think The. PHILLIES i love The phillies. Lineup, YEAH i
MEAN i like them line. Up, obviously The dodgers lineup. Too,
Yeah i'm just All i'm saying is just about every
team except for a few in The National, league but
(01:34:07):
especially in The American, league there's a lot of. Lineups
you'll look at you, like that's, incomplete, Right there's not
many have complete. Lineups that's, true that's.
Speaker 3 (01:34:15):
True but for The tigers specific, situation are They i'm
trying to think of how the word. Is are they
so incomplete that it would hinder them from winning a?
Speaker 2 (01:34:24):
Championship can they overcome? It it's what you're. Asking, YEAH
i think it's going to be really hard to do
that if you don't pick something up with the trade. Deadline.
Speaker 5 (01:34:32):
YEAH i don't think people feel that way about The
tigers in terms of having a player like that until
they get a, player uh not pitcher that has the
same impact That Terry schools, exactly like they don't have that,
player like you Mentioned, judge like you some of these
players Like Bryce harbor or, whatever right that they don't have.
It even for however Good Riley green has been the
last three. Years he doesn't have that name, nationally So
(01:34:54):
tigers fans are still, LIKE i, mean you, know, Yeah Riley.
Green but until you see it ON, espn the show
On sunday consistently like, schoolble you see schoolbl. Everywhere, yeah
THEN i think that's when you feel confident and you,
well that's when they will feel.
Speaker 3 (01:35:08):
Because he's all. Around like in terms Of Riley, green
like you, said elite, glove we already know. That but
in terms of, offense he's. Good the numbers are, there
very very streaky at, times and you know he's a
strikeout rate is insane this. YEAR i would never take
anything away from, him BUT i wouldn't call him elite.
Speaker 5 (01:35:25):
THAT i would mention.
Speaker 2 (01:35:26):
It, Carts, Yeah karry car if he comes, back that'll
be that'll be a big. Help, yeah that's really quite.
Honestly his last game IS i Think june twenty, ninth
and they really went into a tailspin at that. Time
they weren't winning a ton just before, that but they
were winning and. Losing this is a case where you're
(01:35:47):
seeing a lot more, losing SO i think that would
be a big. Plus the last THING i would ask
you about this, though when we look.
Speaker 7 (01:35:54):
At we need.
Speaker 2 (01:35:55):
STARS i don't know how many people believe in The.
Brewers brewers have the most wins in. Baseball who's their best?
Player it's hard to that's because you don't know. Them
who the hell is? Self freelick, Okay christy Damaged. Goods
but that's that's the. NAME i don't know from. There
(01:36:15):
that's the only name that you pull from unless you
Know William. Contreres so, ANYWAY i JUST i find it
interesting sometimes those side conversations are really fun to. Have The,
lions we've talked about the offensive line a little. Bit
Graham glasgow said something really interesting earlier in the week
how happy he was that he's back at his natural,
(01:36:35):
position right. Guard he was forced to left guard last
year because they brought In Kevin, zeitler who's an absolute.
Stunt yeah all, right it's an all pro at the
right guard. Position glasgow wants to move back to right,
guard but just the other Day Tate ratledge was playing
guard And glasgow was at. Center how at this stage right,
(01:36:57):
now AND i know we've got a ways to go
before the first preseason game with your six days, away
how important is it to define roles for, players especially offensive.
Lineman and what's the difference between right guard and left
guard for a guy Like Graham.
Speaker 5 (01:37:09):
Glasgow you want to get this settled quickly and. Fast,
look you already lost one of the best centers in
THE nfl in the last twenty five, years essentially In Frank.
Ragnow you lost. Him you gotta find who that center
is going to because the most important thing in football
on offense is the center quarterback. Exchange and we do
(01:37:30):
understand what was the knock On Jared, goff and it
did show up his first year and a half here, fumbles,
fum small, hands small, hands and line of. Scrims it took.
Him Frank ragnow is one of the best doing it
to get. Comfortable he's been very. Comfortable now you're rotating
him back between a rookie And glasgow and rookie and
figuring out the next. Guy you gotta get that. Going
(01:37:52):
they gotta find the center who's going to be The.
Senate So Jared goff can lock into that. Now in
terms of moving the rest of them, around you also
got to do that because the insistency of knowing who's
to your left and knowing or who's to your, right
that's when you get the offense. Down that's When I'm
i'm gonna excuse, Me I'm Pine, sue AND i know
to my left is Grand Blast. GOOW i don't even
have to look at. HIM i don't even have to
(01:38:13):
talk to. HIM i don't even have to communicate or
we already know how to. Communicate like that's when you
get the best version of that. Side the moving back
and forth and this looks good for a, minute it
makes it very inconsistent and it's hard to have. That
it's hard to start the season that way trying to
figure it. Out so you got to get that established
as fast as you. CAN i wish it would be
already figured, out but you need it Past that's All
(01:38:35):
i'm gonna ask you.
Speaker 6 (01:38:38):
From uh From Dan campbell talking about it right, now
if you guys want, To, oh, yeah, Definitely i'm gonna
get the video up and then we'll play it right after.
Speaker 5 (01:38:47):
That, okay and then the left, guard right. Guard in
terms of those, positions left, guard you're more, athletic you're,
faster you're better lateral because of all the. Pulling the
majority of the quarterbacks in THE nfl are right handed,
quarterbacks so the strength is the left. Side so the left,
guard he has to be able to. Move he's got
(01:39:08):
to be a guy as, fast got to be a
guy his, lateral got to be a guy that can
slip and get it out of. There he's probably your
most agile guy on the offensive. Line the. Facts the right,
guard he's. STOUT i. E Kevin. Zeidler When Kevin zyler grabs,
you where are you? Going? Nowhere Kevin zeyler grab where
are you?
Speaker 1 (01:39:27):
Going?
Speaker 5 (01:39:27):
Over he Wants so that's the difference between left and.
Right From Glarren, blasgow he's. Somebody he's, glad he's happy
he's back on the. Right graham's not a guy that
moves like.
Speaker 2 (01:39:35):
That he's. Not he's.
Speaker 5 (01:39:36):
Struggled do you know What i'm. Saying he struggles with
he struggles with. Pulling at, times he's more comfortable, Stout
and that's what right guards. Are they're the stout. Ones
because THE nfl IS i want to, say eighty right handed.
Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Quarterball where else are you getting?
Speaker 3 (01:39:51):
That not a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:39:53):
Places you're not getting it. Anywhere, okay when somebody tells
you that he wants to play right guard because he
doesn't want to pull almost we all know the. Quarterback
most of the quarterbacks are right. Handed how many look
think of it with the guard pulling that? Way they
don't have More that's great, insight, Man, now NOW i
can use. That so you just you talked early about
(01:40:15):
forty years of, experience and you're gonna share. THAT i
can't wait till somebody brings that stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:40:20):
Up, yeah you got.
Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
Nothing i'm just gonna. SAY i was talking With Braylan
everyans the other day And god.
Speaker 3 (01:40:24):
Damn did her another notch in the tool. Bill BUT
i wanted to pick y'all brains on this BECAUSE i
look at it a little bit. Differently to, me go.
Ahead they already have a a default option In Graham
glasgow that they. Know, okay he's a, veteran he's done
it before in this. System we can send him out
here during the. Season If Tate raleish.
Speaker 2 (01:40:44):
Doesn't, live you're saying at, center you're saying. It so
we already Know.
Speaker 3 (01:40:49):
Graham he can have it, covered you, know worst case.
SCENARIO i really think that this coaching, staff they really
Want tate to take that job out of camp because.
Speaker 2 (01:40:59):
Which one the Center he's gonna start one of?
Speaker 3 (01:41:01):
Them, yeah, absolutely BUT i think they Want tate at.
Center when you look at some of the comments in
the tone Of Dan campbell when he speaks about, this
when he's just, like, oh you, know we're switching him
back and. Forth we're just trying to see what we,
has but we're really comfortable With. GRAHAM i think that, Means,
okay we have our default. Option you, know in Case
tate can't win the, job It's graham's job to. Lose
(01:41:22):
but as of right, NOW i think they're just trying
to see what they have.
Speaker 2 (01:41:25):
In takee in that.
Speaker 5 (01:41:29):
CASE i hate that because that reminds me of The
university Of michigan always Does sorry love my. Institution you
know it is we're Probably i'm heart on my. Sleeve
how many times are you going to hear is it
this quarterback or this? Quarterback we got to see in
training camp whose quarterback wants to? Start you can't build
any rhythm if you Know Graham glasgow is your best right,
guard and he's told, you, LOOK i like to be.
(01:41:49):
Here then don't go back and. Forth you Let tate
rallies from the time he from the time he got
to The Detroit, lions in many camp, rings, ball as
many snaps as camp you, start you start training. Camp
this is the guy because just like you, said well
he knows he can play. Center then if you need
him In, september he will rotate before the season.
Speaker 2 (01:42:09):
Start, WELL i would offer this, too not TO i
don't like the back and. FORTH i don't. Either but next,
year If Graham glasgow is not, Here Tate ratledge is
going to be a, mainstay and you would you would
love to have him stay at the same position like
seel hopefully Like Christian, mahogany who knows About Taylor decker
and his age and his. Health but, overall when you
(01:42:31):
want to plan for something like, that, Truth.
Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
But why not give him the versatility that A Graham glasgow,
has who has played center and guard in this. League
point The lions love. Versatility that is.
Speaker 2 (01:42:41):
The everything in this in this you're, Right you're. Right
everybody seems like every EVERY.
Speaker 5 (01:42:47):
I don't like, That jeff, Professional.
Speaker 2 (01:42:51):
YOU i do, too the same with you that the
whole entire sports world loves the. Versatility look at, Baseball
well you can play, anywhere, RIGHT i like every day
position players in. BASEBALL i hear people all the. TIME
i like that he can play all. Over it's the
same thing with offensive. Linemen it's the exact same. THING
i remember when they Drafted Riley reef and they, said,
(01:43:12):
well he can play guard or, tackle questioning the, back
why don't you just draft the best. Tackle why don't
you just draft the best? Guard, right why don't you
just Draft David. Dicastro he's a great, guard plug and.
Play leave him. There why do you have to have the? Versatility,
well if you're damn, portant basketball is the same WAY.
Kg that's.
Speaker 3 (01:43:31):
True but he can. Swing i'll tell you why you
need the versatility for, injuries.
Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
Of, course of course you. Do but but we're talking
about every day we. Want if you're gonna build this,
stuff you're gonna want to. Build To braylen's, point how
many snaps does he? Need as many as he can
get when he's never played the. Position he's never done
that At. Georgia so if he's never played, it put
him there and have him snapped at every single quarterback
(01:43:56):
you possibly.
Speaker 5 (01:43:57):
Can also, too it's you look at this guy's and
we've talked about, that and people, say, oh the schedule doesn't,
matter The lions are, great blah blah blah bs it.
Does those first six games are. Tough you don't want
to have things that are unnecessary affect the. Game you
don't need Have Tate rally Or Tate rallige in there
if you don't trust him and now he fumbles a
(01:44:18):
snap or there's a bad quarterback center exchange on a
third down against The, chiefs against The, ravens against insert,
team The. Buccaneers hell, like those are things that hurt
the game early on in the. Year you don't need
those type of things to. Happen so all you, do you,
prepare and the best you can do is Get Tate
rallige in there early and often from the start until
(01:44:39):
the start of the, season all the back and. Forth
that's where you. Get now It's Jared goff because keep in, mind,
too the back and, forth you guys are just thinking About.
Jared you're just thinking About Tate rallich And glasgow and
how comfortable they are well think About Jared, goff who's
getting used to a third, center, Right he's getting you
(01:44:59):
to a third so like. It he has some you,
know getting used to doing some chemistry issues.
Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
That could be as important as getting used to a new.
Coordinator hell, yeah well you're gonna say. Something yeah, NO i.
Speaker 6 (01:45:11):
No we got that that that audio From Dan campbell as,
well just to get his perspective on, it because some
people are freaking out about. It whereas for, me, PARTIALLY
i feel like we hear this every, camp AND i
can't wait to hear your perspective On Dan campbell's comments
about that offensive, line trying different combinations to see what.
Works Dan campbell here at a training, camp we saw.
Speaker 10 (01:45:31):
The flipping of taking grant, mistery what went into that?
Speaker 14 (01:45:34):
Decision is that something you're gonna kind of stick with
or is it gonna be more of a day to day.
Speaker 8 (01:45:39):
Clip Clow, WELL i guess some training camp it's like dog, years,
right so three days ends? Up really one day is
like three? DAYS i guess. No just you, know when
you get the day, off you have the ability to
kind of sit, back look at it, all think about,
it and and then it's, like you, know what why
don't We let's just go ahead and Throw graham back
in there at center and and get take some of
(01:46:01):
these guard. Reps, uh we're still gonna work him at,
center but let's go ahead and do this and see
what this looks like for a little. Bit we go
in the pads and, so LIKE i, said we're just you,
know we're we're seeing what we can. Find what's the best,
combination who's gonna play best, Where and So GRAHAM'S i, Mean,
tate we'll get some center. Reps you can go back
inside on some. Stuff that's what it's. About it's about.
(01:46:25):
Reps it's about getting guys different looks just in.
Speaker 5 (01:46:28):
Case, yeah and that's. Fine, yeah it's definitely fine to
get those. Reps just make sure That tate rally is
taking the first team. Reps, like if you want to
get him, reps it's. Fine you don't need to take
reps at right guard with the first, Team, yeah you.
Don't he doesn't need to take with the first. Teams
at the end of the, day you're trying to deal
the reps at, guard those center, reps those are the
most important. Ones he has to be taking those first team.
(01:46:51):
Reps so if you want to do, both that's. Fine
make sure he's taking those first TEAMS. Rep we're number.
Speaker 2 (01:46:55):
Sixteen when you, look when you look at, HIM i,
mean where do you where do you envision him build,
wise body? Wise where the envisioner? Center he looks like a.
Speaker 5 (01:47:04):
Center. Yeah he has his shoulders slow a certain. Way
his build is sticked around in here like he just he.
Looked he looks like a more in, shape Taller Hank. Frayley,
okay all, right more in, shape Taller Hank. FREYLEY i
Know hank's. Little it doesn't look like it, now But
hank was a hell of a player when he's with
The Philadelphia eagles and came over to. Us but he's
(01:47:26):
got a taller build Like Hank. Freyley he looks like
a center to.
Speaker 2 (01:47:29):
Me before we get to the mail. Bag we do
the mail bag at the end of our show every
Single monday Through, friday two to four here On The
Briliant Edward. Show, yeah, quick two. Hours you had something
before the show that you brought up THAT i thought
was really cool and really got us thinking a little.
Bit share that with the. Audience wait to bring that.
Speaker 5 (01:47:48):
Bag, lo this is gonna be a phone for you
guys out there And Michael, WERRY i tease it, here
it is Which detroit sports team would you have wished
a wanted to have closed the? Deal NOW i know
answers all of, them but which particular one as you?
Win so here's the. Example was it the Five? Pistons?
Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
Yes was it the Nine Red?
Speaker 5 (01:48:08):
Wings was it the Thirteen Detroit? Tigers was it the
old Six? Tigers was it the eighty Seven? Pistons you
know there's a bunch of these type. Things was it
the ninety Five Red? Wings by the, way it's the
first TIME i crowd over sporting event. Nobs it still.
Hurts but, anyway which one is? YOURS i went earlier
AND i said it was the Thirteen. TIGERS i know
(01:48:31):
they lost in THE lcs and it wasn't The World.
Series but if they Beat, boston they go, on they
win That World series and it gives them something to
hang their hats on for that stretch that was six to.
Fourteen the fact that we did not win A World
series that in that frame of the players that we,
had how many opportunities that we. HAD i was looking
at the highest, paid the highest PLAY mlb players of all.
(01:48:51):
Time don't you know that particular stretch Of. Detroit Of
detroit they had four players in the top ten of all.
Times sure that was in. There cohen was in, there
who came to us in fourteen thirty. Fourteen cohan was in,
There verlander was in, There miggi was in. There they
had four guys in the top PAY mlb players of all.
(01:49:12):
Time they all played on the same team and have
nothing to show for. It so for, me that thirteen held.
Twelve they wouldn't beat The. GIANTS i know you're, like, well,
well they wouldn't Beat lynsingam and The giants in. Twelve
but that thirteen team was better than everyone.
Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
Else they were actually really good the following year and four,
Games yeah they lost.
Speaker 15 (01:49:33):
Team they have To, Nelton cruise and The. Oriols, yeah
they have to beat The brewers to get in or
the at the end of the, season they had to
win that one game playoffs to get. In it Was
casey was The, Royals it was them in The royals
and then the end up losing to The. Oils but,
yes for, me it's. Thirteen what about you, Shot.
Speaker 2 (01:49:51):
Well i'm a little bit old, school so you brought
up a couple of Differentrud, wings WHICH i think was really.
Good you could argue ninety six was more frustrating than ninety,
five where it was lockout. Year AND i remember covering
The Stanley cup Finals, Detroit New. Jersey New jersey swept.
Him i'll never. Forget i'm in the bowels Of Joe Louis.
Arena i'm standing next to Two New New york writers
(01:50:12):
who said this series isn't coming, Back and like an,
IDIOT i looked at. HIM i, Said i'll guarantee you
it's coming. Back, Yeah and it didn't come.
Speaker 3 (01:50:20):
Back your fandom showed a little, bit a little.
Speaker 2 (01:50:22):
Bit, yeah My detroit side of me kind of you
what came out of. Me the ninety Six wings set
THE nhl record it's since been broken By, boston set
THE nhl record for most points and, wins and they
lost To colorado in The Western conference, Finals so that
was a really tough. One but for, me it's the
eighty Seven. Tigers the eighty Seven tigers where they Beat,
(01:50:45):
toronto won nothing on The Frank Tanana gem at the
end of the year At Tiger, stadium and then knowing
back then there were only two, divisions The American League
east and The American League, west and they Met minnesota
And minnesota at homefield, advantage AND i thought it was
an absolute farce because baseball doesn't do any things, right
and baseball would alternate The east and The west who
(01:51:06):
had home field instead of who had the best. Record
tigers had the best, record And minnesota got home, field
And minnesota Beat detroit in THE alcs and then The,
twins to their, credit actually went on to win The World.
Series but that nineteen eighty seven team that won ninety eight, games, Wow,
Okay so we talk about thirteen twelve AND i get
(01:51:27):
all that they won ninety eight. Games. Okay and by the,
way you weren't getting a lot of teams into the.
Playoffs then there were two you and The, East you
and The. West this wasn't made for. Television you had
two teams reached the playoffs back. Then and The tigers
in nineteen eighty, seven winning ninety eight, games lost to
the Damn Minnesota, twins and a lot of it because
(01:51:50):
they started at The garbage domean the metro domin In.
Minnesota so That Frank faiola and all that, crap that was.
It Burt blyleve And viola beat. Him SO i would
say eighty seven probably bothers me as much as. Anything
you got some supporting the.
Speaker 6 (01:52:05):
Chat Randall small's in the chat he says it's the
nineteen eighty Seven tigers for.
Speaker 7 (01:52:08):
Him he said it just before you started. Talking as
soon as you, did he put the lol at.
Speaker 3 (01:52:13):
Sheep even he leftovers from the eighty fourteen was on
the eighty.
Speaker 2 (01:52:17):
Seventeen oh quite a, few, yeah quite a, Few, yeah,
yeah a lot of.
Speaker 7 (01:52:21):
Them. Yeah for, me it's definitely got to be the Five. Pistons.
Speaker 6 (01:52:24):
Man after seeing them WINNING o, FOUR i got all
the bragging RIGHTS i needed going out to The East
coast for my freshman year in, college SO i got
to see them win With.
Speaker 7 (01:52:32):
Pops went away Bragging, Detroit, Detroit.
Speaker 6 (01:52:34):
Detroit we had another year man where The Detroit pistons
were just a juggernaut, defensively and when it got to the,
finals me and my pops we will watch the home
games at The.
Speaker 7 (01:52:44):
Palace we watched the road games At Shane. PARK i
don't know if people remember. That when they had the
game on.
Speaker 6 (01:52:50):
THERE i shouted to Reata franklin. Amphitheater, now but you
know it was, epic. Man saw every.
Speaker 7 (01:52:55):
Single game was on the edge of my, seat and
when they lost that, WAY i shipped something.
Speaker 6 (01:52:59):
Taken it was in their hands from shee to even
the last game they were, up and then it just
seemed LIKE i still to this day said that the
referees swallowed that whistles, man and if, not we got
The Detroit pistons.
Speaker 7 (01:53:11):
Hoisting you DON'T.
Speaker 5 (01:53:15):
I i was AT i was at the. Game what's
also so crazy about the whole nine yards is they,
lose and now the conversation since was we got rid Of,
corliss bought in mcdce and then we get rid Of. Memo.
Man but they if they would have won that, game
(01:53:35):
if it's a FIFTH i get that. Part they win that,
Game we're not having that conversation about Scoreless williams as
well As memo. Curve but you, lose and now it's,
like well they had, five let's go to.
Speaker 2 (01:53:47):
Five it brings up a really good point AND i
understand it because they're lost in the. Finals the next
year though they set the franchise record for. Victories they,
did and they ran sixty. Four that's more than any other,
team even champions had in, history and that's WHY i
bring this. Up because of. IT i talked about the
ninety Six, wings who had the most wins in franchise,
(01:54:08):
history in league.
Speaker 5 (01:54:08):
History it was the same year The bulls didn't like
they had seventy And bulls at seventy.
Speaker 2 (01:54:12):
Two who's?
Speaker 7 (01:54:14):
That The?
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
Wings, oh The, Wings, NO i don't think they had seventy.
Two they had sixty some. Odd Wing bulls had sifty because. Yeah.
Yeah and Then Golden, STATE i, believe broke seventy three.
Speaker 3 (01:54:24):
And it wasn't six win the emergence Of lebron and.
Speaker 2 (01:54:27):
Him, yeah they. Lost they lost to the freaking people
that The palace were actually. Cheering they.
Speaker 7 (01:54:35):
Lost they lost to The.
Speaker 2 (01:54:36):
King, yeah, yeah he'll tell you that about how about?
Speaker 3 (01:54:41):
You it was The king that, night for. Sure but shout.
Speaker 5 (01:54:43):
Out i've only been meditation On prince. Once i've only
ever been meditation On prince. Once Like Lebron. James you
can say what you want to about. Him that particular,
stretch especially that last, minute gave. Game BUT i was.
Mad he came down down three with like thirty two seconds.
Left it takes some. Time he pulled from them to
(01:55:04):
half court made. It then pistons come down And toyo.
Mcdce you, know he gets, filed makes both free. Throws
lebron comes down fast. Break The shine's right, there, shine
first and only Time i've ever seen him defensive stopper
by the. Way hell of all that time he made
(01:55:24):
a business And lebron was, LIKE i remember you want
over to Young, bron, man but shoot at that point
you're a champion to jump into.
Speaker 2 (01:55:33):
Him he made a business. Decision he ain't making free.
Speaker 5 (01:55:36):
Throws, NO i feel.
Speaker 2 (01:55:37):
You there's a lot of controversy.
Speaker 5 (01:55:39):
Around you, know you remember that, Man lebron is one
of my favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:55:43):
Players why even bring this? UP i hated to see
him just man on my.
Speaker 3 (01:55:48):
Pistols but there's just a lot of theories around oh,
five because of course The Carmelo anthony. Argument if they Had,
carmelo would they have got the second? Tip you, know
the whole. Bit but that was gonna be my original.
Speaker 7 (01:55:59):
Answer.
Speaker 3 (01:56:00):
Five BUT i THINK i gotta gore more current, man
because this heartbreak just it really don't sit right with.
You and it's the twenty twenty Three, lions THE Nfc
championship game in which you were up seventeen points and
arguably would have been up another seven If Dan campbell
could have got it the way he wanted it at
the end of the.
Speaker 2 (01:56:18):
Half but for them to have a seventeen.
Speaker 3 (01:56:21):
Point lead In San francisco everything in front of. You
i'm literally having dreams at, halftime Like i'm happy as a,
pig and you know, What we're actually gonna do.
Speaker 2 (01:56:29):
It we're actually going to the SUPER i couldn't leave.
THIS i was on the phone And you're making. Plans
everybody was, like it was, nuts going, YEAH i don't blame.
Speaker 5 (01:56:38):
You the tickets was an easy thing at, hotel the
flight was.
Speaker 2 (01:56:43):
LISTEN i, TRIED i try as much as possible not
to get too caught up in a. Moment but at
HALFTIME i literally looked around people and, said holy you know, What, yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:56:53):
This is.
Speaker 2 (01:56:54):
UNBELIEVABLE i couldn't believe.
Speaker 3 (01:56:56):
It and then in Typical, lions that's a really good.
Point it Typical lions, fan And i'm not saying that
that's so, well but in Typical, lions look. Faster from
the time of The Josh rentals, Drum joe was just
a series of unfortunate. Events The Jamiir gibbs, fumble THE
i always forget his, Name Kndle build or The Kendle
build or bouncing up the helm To BRANDON i.
Speaker 7 (01:57:17):
You it was just it, was did you give me any?
More you're gonna be an S o l.
Speaker 2 (01:57:21):
TER i swear bro that ship hurts my heart to this.
Day i'm with you on.
Speaker 5 (01:57:25):
That the player THAT i was, like all, right it's old.
Lion WHEN i Saw Juwan jenny's make those two, CATCHES
i was, like it's not Gonna Jwayan jenny's catches were
the ones WHERE i was, like they're not.
Speaker 2 (01:57:35):
Gonna be able to do.
Speaker 1 (01:57:36):
It.
Speaker 2 (01:57:36):
Today you call the airlines and said canceled the. Ticket
when you get the third.
Speaker 5 (01:57:40):
Stream when you're the third stream receiver jumping over people
catching one hand in the middle of the field on
third and. Fifteen now you Got Brock purdy rolling out
like he's the one car nation Of Steve.
Speaker 3 (01:57:50):

toughest sixties RUSHING i ever occurred as A lions.
Speaker 2 (01:57:57):

and home run he has better offensive. Numbers, okay three
Time All, star eight, times six Time Silver, slugger five
(01:59:49):
time goal six time Goal. Glove he's got better numbers
than a lot of catchers in The hall Of. Fame
there are eighteen catchers in The hall Of. Fame he's
got a better numbers than a lot of.
Speaker 5 (01:59:58):
THEM i guarantee you one of them again in The
hall Of fame if The tigers keep up this. Pace
because what happens in today's day and, age AND i
know that's the hardest one to get into that Is.
Cooperstown but it's recency biased and it's what goes on
at the time when your team is. Vibrant i've seen
it in, Basketball i've seen it in, Football i've seen
this in. Hockey like the guys are important, Now tigers
second place in. Al if they continue this for a little, while,
(02:00:19):
sweet you can get.
Speaker 2 (02:00:20):
IN i don't THINK i don't think there's enough smart
enough people to get him in number one and number.
TWO i don't think the organization does a good enough
job of promoting their. Players they need to promote that they're.
Greats that's a good, Point, Okay Alan. Trammell shouldn't have
taken that. Long shouldn't have Taken Jack morris that, long
and don't give me. This oh would have been the
highest e R ra and the who's got the highest
(02:00:42):
R ra Before Jack? Morris anybody? Know of course you.
Don't just never talked To Red. Ruffing but, anyway besides,
that besides, that you should be lobbying For Lou. Whittaker
you should make a stand, YEA i, swear and it
should Be Lou, whittaker and it should Be Lance. Paris
Gary carter's in Lance parish has very good, numbers not
as good as. Average it's gonna over one thousand rbiat
(02:01:04):
three hundred and twenty four home. Runs, okay close To
Garry carter and that home run, Well Lance paris hit
it off.
Speaker 5 (02:01:12):
In The World.
Speaker 4 (02:01:12):
Series.
Speaker 5 (02:01:15):
Side if you're gonna lobby this hard or get trying
to get The tigers lobby this, HARD i need to
hire you in the. Space can you lobby that To
University michigan to get my ass in N cuba a
College hall Of? Fame? Hell, yeah wait WHAT i should
have already.
Speaker 2 (02:01:29):

SCHOOLS i GET i used to WHEN i had A heisman.
VOTE i used to get all this stuff from schools
about why you should vote for our. Guy if you
think your guys should be in The College Football hall Of,
fame you should be telling writers don't forget about. Him
this is what he's. Done And i've never felt certain
teams do that well. Enough that's Why i've said The
(02:01:50):
tigers should do. That there's nothing wrong with. That Lou
whittaker's are. Gotcha Lou whittaker's got great. Numbers Lou whittakers
