Speaker 4 (06:49):
I'm doing good.
Speaker 5 (06:50):
I appreciate you. Sorry for the miscommunication obviously that that's on.
Speaker 4 (06:54):
Me moving forward. No, no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
We look we missed you because you're the man, but
I missed your insight. Butostin did a real nice job.
Kool Aid and Ricky were there.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Conversation was conversations flow nice yesterday.
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Yeah, don't apologize. I'm just glad you're back. How was
the golf outing the Michigan Football golf O.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
It was good.
Speaker 5 (07:17):
Coaches outing was good, the champion circles Sharone Moore outing.
This is year two of it. Last year year one
on the Blue Course in an Arbor, this year two
at the Cardinal which is shaping up for live.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I think that's going to be exciting.
Speaker 5 (07:28):
But the ounting itself as well raised a ton of
money for an institution that has a ton of it.
And you know, it's just good to see the players
out there. Said, I got a chance to go off
with Jayden and Davis as well as Ben Brettison excited
for excuse me, Max Brettison, Ben's's brother, so excited and
taught the captain, got some insight what's going on up there.
That was cool and it's just good to see the
(07:50):
former guys get chances to play. No, we thought we
did bad, and once we got in and realized we
actually were third place fifteen plug, fIF teen under, one
thirteen under, it was second place ten under. There was
a three way tie.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
And that's you, which is what I thought would win
the Open Championship. You said higher than you said thirteen.
Ricky had said sixteen and seventeen wonted. Hats off to Ricky,
way to go. Now, who did you see at the
golf outing you haven't seen a long time and you
were super excited to put your arms around and chat
(08:27):
up a little better.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
You know what is Eric Campbell. Eric Campbell was out
to Eric Campbell, who was my wide receivers coach when
I was at University of Michigan, just to throw his
resume out there real quick, let you know how good
he is and how glad I am that he's back.
He coached the Moony Tumor, He coached Mercy Hayes if
you remember that Eir. He coached Tye Streets, he coached
(08:48):
Marquis Walker, he coached Dave Terrell, he coached Jason Nevant,
he coached Steve Preston, coach Mario Manningham, Adrian Arrington, Junior Hemingway,
Roy Rowntree, and Jeremy Gallon, I want to say, might
have been his last one. And of course he coached me.
So oh and Ron Bellamy, who he's now coaching with.
So I was excited to hell of a list. And
(09:08):
it really is some players behind the scenes that make
the list even more extensive. If you know ball which
I know you doing a lot of people out there
who I'm glad to be back with. But just good
to talk with him and good to see the dynamic
you know when you when you the assistant to one
of your former runts. Essentially, Ron's a runt when Sude coached.
He bought him in as a seventeen year old freshman.
(09:30):
So to see that dynamic, and here's working well and
he's excited to be.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
I got Michigan. I love Ron and it's it's just
only he's a.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
Great man's great dude. He poured a lot into me
when I was there. But this is only going to
make the wide receiver position a lot better. And they
got a new transfer. Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait
to see what Donovan can do.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
So well I am. I'm not going to compare it
to LSU. That's a little ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Because of family.
Speaker 1 (09:56):
However, Michigan's wide receiver, the core you just brought up
that rivals a lot of some of the better programs
in the history of national collegiate athletics, don't you think.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
But the issue is if we're just talking college, then yeah, yeah,
that's what I'm talking. Just talking you're talking about going
to the pros LSU Ohio State. They have success in
the league and that's one thing that univers music has
kind of been hampered with. You know, you can go
back to you know, Desmond for as great as Desmond was,
Desmond was a return man in the NFL. Dave Terrell
and his career is four years kind of bounced around
(10:32):
a little bit. Uh So, Yeah, there's no sustainability. But
if you're talking about just in college, I put us
up there, you know, I put you got a money tumors.
We have big wind out you Yeah, Mining Tuman six
for me, six for Dave Terrell six four and also
guys that can move down to field south.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
When you think of certain college athletic programs, what are
some of the quick programs you think of and the
positions immediately like I brought up LSU, right, guys that
bring up LSU.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
And it's there's a good received for the wide receivers,
D line and D line.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
When I was a kid, Miami, not Miami, Ohio, but
Miami Florida. If you say Miami, it's supposed to be
Ohio because they were the first Miami. But most people
noticed the Kings. The U. The U was was quarterbacks,
you know, it was Vincit Testaverdy, it was she was
Jim Kelly, Yeah, Touretto. That was quarterbacks. When it was
(11:28):
Penn State, it was linebacker you. When it was USC
it was running backs.
Speaker 5 (11:33):
Michigan was running backs. Michigan I would, I would. There's
some really good wide receivers. Michigan is running back you.
And I feel like the last three years have reminded
people of what Michigan was. And he can go I
can go back as far as Ron Smith. I mean
Ron Johnson in the sixties, to the Air of my
dad played in with my dad his fresh his sophomore year,
(11:54):
he had nine hundred rest of yards mess up. His
ankle was really good. Butch Wolf Wolf good, the A Train,
Anthony Tommy Tyrone Wheatley, Yeah, sham Baka was an absolute
Chris Perry was fourth in the Heisman.
Speaker 6 (12:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
So ye, like Hart was really good.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
You know what I'm saying, How could I forget my guy?
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I guess I guess I was refering to when I
was younger, when you had O. J. Simpson and Charles
white Us and you know, Marcus Allen. I mean those
guys were.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Those guys were Epican you.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Yeah, that's Heisman you.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
They were different. They said, the hell would position?
Speaker 1 (12:33):
When I say that, what what programs come to mind
for you? I was just going over a lot of
good ones. But can you can you think of anyone
that we might be missing? For example, that was I
think that's a tradition. Texas running backs and linebackers. Yeah,
Texas running backs, linebackers. Florida had some good quarterbacks, you know,
throughout the ranks. Ohio State, I mean, you have to
(12:55):
give them credit. They have the only two Heisman Trophy
winner and Archie Griffins so running backs Eddie George another
Heidsom Trophy winning for them. So the only thing I
can say about Florida is they had some really good
college quarterbacks. Like Kirwin Bell was really good and people
you bring up Kerwin Bell to people and they're like,
what the hell is Kirwin Bell, saying, yeah, Kirwin hell
of a quarterback of the SEC for a long period
(13:17):
of time. Georgia was similar to that. Eric Zaire was
a really good quarterback, never made in the pros. It's
a really good college.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
Pro Wisconsin running backs, you said that already offensive line Alabama, Wisconsin, macandin.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's interesting, isn't it. I mean how
teams and programs get labeled.
Speaker 5 (13:39):
Ohio State had good quarterbacks in the collegiate landscape. If
we're talking the collegiate landscape, they've had quarterbacks that win
for whatever that reason is, and quarterbacks that can get
out of pocket and move. Terrell Pryor, who just lost
his case against NCAA recently, is a name that comes
to mind.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Sure, Torell Prior, J T.
Speaker 5 (13:56):
Bear who we saw Troy Smith won the Heisman, had
to play against him justin fields, you know. More recently,
Carlos had for Yeah, he didn't move as much, but yeah,
it's the hell with yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
All better than Archleister, who had a serious problem. So
you bring up quarterbacks, it's a really good one. You.
You and I were talking just before the show about
the pressure on quarterbacks. Now, I always love your perspective
on on pressure because for us, I've always felt it's
a self induced. Second of all, what really is pressure?
(14:29):
You know what I mean? A five foot putt for
a skin on the back nine with your buddies, you
understand it as a third overall, pick who's got the
most pressure in the NFL's NFC North, which quarterback is
the most pressure on them for this twenty twenty five season.
Speaker 5 (14:49):
I came back you already cooking, you already right, rock
and roll.
Speaker 7 (14:53):
Wait for you.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
I know right, I have so Honestly, yesterday I was
driving home on me I want to I want to
talk to Brelan about this, are about that? So on
and so forth, so far away.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
Yeah, this is a good one. It's interesting because everyone
has a level of pressure.
Speaker 4 (15:07):
Love in Green Bay has a level of pressure.
Speaker 5 (15:09):
Minnesota j J McCarthy year one essentially for him, he
has a level of pressure to kind of, you know,
not implement what happened last year, but be somewhere in
that ballpark because of how good that franchise was.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
And then Kayler Williams year one.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
He's only only a rookie, but a lot was made
of how great and transcending he was going to be,
and allowed was made in the moments that you know
he had last year. Can't blame his coach this year,
So that'd be interesting. The most pressure, though, there's only
(15:43):
one answer. I disagree. I disagree. I think the most
pressure is Kayler Williams.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
But wow, I do he would be my I would
I would rank them Jared Goff far and away, then
Jordan Love, then Caleb Williams and then JJ McCarthy. And
maybe that's my fault because I don't want to give
him a free pass, but they did get rid of
(16:09):
a guy who was you know, I know people don't
believe in him, but he was really good a year ago.
I do believe there. People feel like Kevin O'Connell's a
quarterback whisperer, but they're going to give him a little
bit of time to ease into things. I don't think
Jared Goff is allotted that in the NFL or in Detroit.
And here's why. Last year, until the Houston game, he
(16:31):
was a prominent name for MVP. If you looked at
the entire division, most people would say Detroit has the
most talent of anybody in the division. You could argue
they have the most talent in the NFC. I know
Philadelphia and they have amongst the most talent in the
National Football League. You you know, this is all about expectation.
(16:54):
He's got to perform and they've got to go deep.
And I don't even think it's a regular season. The
pressure is amped up on all you guys, but especially
for him when the postseason hits.
Speaker 5 (17:03):
I'll tell you why I didn't choose the other three,
and then I answered that about job. I didn't choose
Jordan Love because Jordan Love, at the end of the day,
he is Matt Lafleur's guy. This is the quarterback Matt
Leaflelour's wont he vaults for him? And also they have
no owner, so Jordan Love's not going anywhere. Matt Lafleores
wants Jordan Love. And then he got injured before kind
of like during the season early on set out came back.
(17:25):
He has an excuse, and he has a team that's
only had two quarterbacks in the last twenty five years
before him. He's not going anywhere because they're going to
allow him all the time he needs. Sort of with
JJ McCarthy, that's a little bit pressure on him, kind
of fill the shoes of Sam Donald. Won thirteen games
last year, Minnesota right there with their rival Detroit Lions.
(17:45):
But he's young. They'll give him time. They trust him
as a leader. They already told you they weren't taking anybody.
They didn't want to make it a quarterback controversy. Kevin
O'Connell has put his stamp on Jay j time and
time again. So the pressure is minimum and to be
pressure that he puts on himself. Jared Goff, for me,
doesn't have any pressure because he's not.
Speaker 4 (18:05):
Viewed like that.
Speaker 1 (18:06):
He's not going anywhere.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
One he's not going anywhere because guy's bag last year.
But two he's not viewed like that, like and he
hasn't done anything wrong technically, you can the five interceptions
were horrible against the Washington Commanders, But you don't blame
Jared Goff for that game.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
You blame injuries. You know, you blame injuries in that game.
Speaker 5 (18:22):
You blame potentially offensive coordinator for starting the wrong running back,
Like you didn't blame Jared Goff.
Speaker 1 (18:27):
What can you tell me the injuries what you're referring to.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
The defensive side of the ball, like in terms of.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Like if they won without those guys.
Speaker 5 (18:34):
So I know, But what I'm saying is Jared Goff,
Like to make it make sense, Jared Golf isn't a
guy that you're directly putting the pressure on to win
the games for the Detroit Lions. He is a bipartisan
of the success of the team squads as a whole.
Jared Goff's not the guy that you're going out there
like Jared Goff's gonna win or lose us the game.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
Oh I disagree. I think he absolutely can win or
lose you the game. I think he's proven that he
can lose you the game. I think he's proven he
can win you the game too. Every guy is like that,
I would assume, but especially him. You're not going anywhere
if he doesn't perform. There's no no one's going. Come on, Hendon,
let's go. Here we go, Kyle, let's go. It's not happening.
(19:15):
This team is expected last year. Even internally, it's not
just you and I. It's just it's not our group
who expects them to win or go get to the
super Bowl. They were expected a year ago. I think
when you when we say pressured, and I could be
wrong here, because you felt it a hell of a
lot more than I have. Mine's a red light on
a TV. Yours is in front of you know, thousands
(19:38):
and thousands of people every single Sunday, where you've gotta
make every single catch, even I it's thrown behind you.
But Jared Goff is directing an offense that was one
of the best in football, the best in franchise history,
and everybody expects this team to go deeper than it
did a year ago, not necessarily fifteen to two, but
(19:58):
deeper than it did a year What they expect.
Speaker 5 (20:00):
It because of the sum of the parts. They don't
expect it because Jared Goff. When you're talking about expectations
on the quarterback, you're talking about Matt Stafford, you're talking
about Josh Allen, you're talking about Lamar Jackson, you're talking
about Patrick Holmes and Joe Burrow. Quarterbacks that we'll get
into later, but with him, with what Jared Goff has
been able to do here the running back.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
The running backs in terms.
Speaker 5 (20:19):
Of totality of what they did last year, they were
the most dynamic duo in the league. The wide receiver Cord,
you saw Amon ra and they were able to do.
The offensive line was the second best league and has
been so for the last three years. So play action
pass was Jared Goff's best friend. Forty five percent of
a lot of the yards are on play action pass.
They're not asking Jared Goff to go out there, Hey,
Jared go winn is this game? Hey, Jared goff go
(20:41):
wins this game? It's not And the pressure's never been
on it. We didn't even believe that he was going
to be still here three four years ago. However, he
proved it through the system, got his money, and here
we are. I don't think there's pressure on what happens
if he has a bad year.
Speaker 4 (20:55):
Where are you going? Are you going to remove him?
Speaker 8 (20:57):
No?
Speaker 1 (20:58):
But I don't look at pressure. Again, this is why
I love your insight. I don't look at pressure as
if you don't win, you're replaced. I look at pressure
is this team has got to win, specifically this year,
and you're a primary reason for it. If you don't deliver.
I'm not saying they're gonna be gone, but there's gonna
be open questions about him more and more if there
(21:21):
aren't already.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
I just don't believe he's one of those I think
pressure only replies to certain quarterbacks in this league.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
So you said, Joe Burrow, why would he have so
much pressure when he's got the best wide receiver tandeman football.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Well, because the whole organization is built on Joe Burrow
and what he can do Joe Burrow goes and it
has an off night. And that's the one thing Cincinnati
doesn't do. Joe don't have off nights.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Like everything you've.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
Seen from Joe Burrow or Kuzzos he's called. In his
time in the NFL, he's been successful. Even when he
towards ACL that year he was having a successful year,
he came back, He gets to the super Bowl with
the worst offensive line in NFL playoff history. In my opinion,
he's but it didn't start that way.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Yeah, that's interesting because I love the perspective, the different
perspective of pressure. You know, I think we thrilled that
word around an awful lot. But I do believe. I mean,
when you you're changing my mind a little bit because
Jared Goff, You're right, this team relies on so many
other guys, right, But I think that's why I viewed
(22:24):
it is as pressure on him because this team is
so deep in its talent pool. The expectation to win
in Minnesota, I don't think is as deep as it
is in Detroit. I don't think it's as deep in
Chicago as as it is in Detroit. Perhaps it might
be even in Green Bay. To a certain extent because
of the combo that you've brought up, and they're expecting
(22:46):
more out of Jordan Love. But this team, if if
they don't win, if they don't get to the super Bowl,
it's a disappointment. I don't I'm not sure that's how
they feel in the other three markets in this division.
Speaker 9 (22:58):
Yeah, And you know what, I've just listening to the conversation,
I've appreciated both perspectives. For me, I do believe that
two of those quarterbacks at the top of the pressures is,
you know, feeling the pressures Jarrett Goff and Jordan Love.
I rustle back and forth between which one has more
pressure because you're looking at everything that Packers, that the
Packers have been, and you look at where they are
(23:20):
now to the fact that Lions are taking over Lions
fans are taking over their entire stadium. I do believe
that there's a lot of pressure on Jordan Love to
figure this out, especially when you look at the beginning
of last season when he got hurt and you saw
another quarterback step into that system and have some success there.
And so I do believe there's pressure for him to
figure this thing out because right now they're getting punched
in the face by the Lions. But for Jared Goff, yeah, yeah,
(23:43):
Like I agree with Bray to a degree where you're
not putting it in his hands and saying, go win
us the game.
Speaker 10 (23:49):
But you guys are literally both right.
Speaker 9 (23:51):
The tithesis is you can't afford to have him lose
you the game either. He can definitely have you in
a position like we just saw against the Commanders where
he can cost you. But you go back of playoffs
before that were his numbers astronomical. No, but he also
didn't hurt you, and you saw the Lions got up
pretty decently far.
Speaker 5 (24:08):
I will say this, and listening to the conversation, listening
to out loud Chef as well as Cool, they appreciate
that insight. Maybe he hasn't been under pressure, and so
maybe I can take a step back and say, looking
at how the landscape has changed, looking how the.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
Puzzle pieces have moved or they've changed, whatever you want
to call them. Probably try coordinators.
Speaker 5 (24:27):
You're looking like offensive line, the rotation, people moving around.
So now this year, maybe you're correct and looking at
it that way. The pressure is now on Jared Goff
because there's not more just I can just come to
the game, I can show up and we can just
get this thing rocking and roll and.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
Do what we do. This is Jared Goff this year.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
He's going to have to be the focal point of
leading this offense, not just on the field, if you will.
Speaker 1 (24:51):
Yeah, you know, not that it's a ton, but seventeen
fourth quarter comebacks that whatever team he was guiding, the
rams of the lines of those fourth quarter comebacks, we're
relying on on him. When you when you see what
he is capable of and how how vital any starting quarterback.
Is there a starting quarterback in the NFL where they
(25:13):
don't have pressure, Give me that guy Mahomes. Mahomes, Yeah,
because he's not going to ever be replaced, or because
you're talking about I mean, the expectations for Patrick Mahomes
are constantly through the roof. He's he's not just supposed
to win the division. He's not just supposed to get
his team to the super Bowl. He's supposed to be
the m v P too. I think that's a lot
(25:34):
of pressure, and he handles it beautifully. I Mean, I
really like Patrick Mahomes. Can't stand his wife, but I
really like him. You know, I think he's. I think
he's I think he's I think he handles things exceptionally well.
Speaker 5 (25:46):
Including true But I think what the sess he's already
had like over and over and over again, improving himself.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
I don't believe that same pressure as it.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
So you don't think Tom Brady ever had pressure. You
don't think Manning ever had pressure. You don't think Drew
Brees ever had pressure.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
I think they did, but not in this this season.
You know what I'm saying. Certain seasons they did in
certain spaces.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
They did look Tom Brady for how he started until
they run like he was fine until you get four
or five.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Six, seven, eight, nine, ten years removed from a Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
Then you start pacing that pressure that he faced and
he was able to combat that. Yet again, Peyton faced
way more pressure than time. To your point, there's there
there are times when he didn't have it as well.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Yeah, a good conversation, Yeah we do.
Speaker 10 (26:27):
We got a little bit of, you know, chatter from
the chat as well.
Speaker 9 (26:30):
Phil believes it's not a quarterback but mister the floor
himself who's under the most pressure. He thinks he just
absolutely freaked out last year. And uh, Stephen like that.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
In what way?
Speaker 1 (26:41):
What way do you think he freaked out when he
got mad at somebody who was actually on the field, Yeah,
in Detroit saying stuff to his team and when when
they're supposed to be out there for the national anthum.
Speaker 4 (26:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
But at the same time, like there's a there's a
there's a person that has that's his job or her job,
and they dropped the ball on that. But like, is
that supposed to rattle you that much as a head
coach that has been here before. Matt Lafloya's guy has
won thirteen games three times and had home fields. So
that just looked like what we think on the inside
(27:15):
it came out.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
It might be it might be some people might take
that as him protecting his guys too. So I don't
know if that's what you know gets his blood boiling.
If it is, then you're right. I mean, that's that's
kind of freaking out. I guess I never looked at
it that way. There's another one in the chat that
said we forgot the Iowa tight ends in college football.
When we're talking about college football, you and what positions
(27:39):
go with what teams, and it was Iowa tight ends
is a pretty good one.
Speaker 10 (27:44):
Blyman and Nebraska.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Yeah, that was back in the day. That's no longer
the case. Unfortunately, that may have been lost with Dominic Reyola.
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (27:53):
It's funny.
Speaker 5 (27:54):
You can use LSU and Alabama for a lot of things,
but even one of those.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
Dbs, Yeah them had some DB's.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
Oh Man's incredible. Any other check.
Speaker 10 (28:04):
Yeah, definitely got a couple more.
Speaker 9 (28:05):
As it relates to the quarterback conversation and then some
super chats to kick things off Stephen back. He says
love is under the most pressure because if they do
not get past the Lions soon, his coach is probably
gone and then he's not as secure either.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
That's a good one.
Speaker 9 (28:18):
He has the least to work with in terms of
star star power as well.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
It's a good one.
Speaker 10 (28:23):
So I'm seeing a lot of people who believe that
it is on love.
Speaker 9 (28:26):
But I did see a couple of people in the
chat like Mo Wiz who says you can't let golf
off the hook. Though he threw those three interceptions, those
aren't him. The bar this year has to be raised,
and so like Braylan was saying, morning relation to yours,
there's some people who are saying you know what if
the pressure wasn't on golf before, this is a year
(28:46):
where they definitely see it.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
Yeah, the three picks and then the two fumbles is
what Braylan was alluding to earlier. You know, let's be
careful with the bar is high stuff. Thank you Marty
Morning Wegg.
Speaker 10 (28:56):
Right, we got three super chats.

So some stunning news, just real quick, and then we'll
dive back into sports. Ricky delivered it to us. Ricky,
go ahead, why don't you tell us that?
Speaker 7 (32:11):
Yeah, chat was talking about it.
Speaker 13 (32:13):
But Ozzy Osbourne, he was the lead singer of Black Sabbath, right.
Speaker 1 (32:18):
He was one of the leads. Yeah, I mean Ronnie
James Deal was also a lead singer for for Black Sabbath.
And I know this is blastphemous. I'm gonna get little people.
I like Ronnie James Deal, leader of Black Sabbath, more
than I look. It's testy Tony Iomi is still there
as the lead guitars to love him, I would say, yeah,
(32:40):
r I I would say they are one of the most,
if not the most influential heavy metal bands in history.
People can talk about led Zeppelin if they like. I
think it's it starts, it begins and ends with Black
Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne is that guy. He's a he's
so unique and he was so successful of Black Sabbath
(33:00):
and on his own and so many great guitars played
with him. He's a weird looking dude, though. I mean
when he's on stage and the way he moves like
it just doesn't look it doesn't look good. There's a lot,
there's a lot of stories there. I mean, I don't
know if you've ever read the book snorting ants, licking.
Speaker 7 (33:18):
Up people, seen the movie. I've seen the movie.
Speaker 5 (33:21):
So when they did a different Cat, when they did
that Doc Doc Bren, when they did that Netflix whatever
you call biopic on Moley crue Yeah, I saw so.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
I saw that too.
Speaker 5 (33:32):
So the pool scene they had when Ozzy's older and
Moley Cruz younger, they had him come down there and
snorts some man, So I'm familiar through that. My question
is I love some heavy metal songs. There's went to
schools and went the places I heard it and started
liking some of this stuff. I just don't know how
you tune into that, like like regularly and then tap
out of it. Is different. Back at the end of
(33:56):
the seventies, was sold. They mixed a little soul in
there with the heavy metal, But how do you tap
in and tap out like I can listen to I mean,
it's some crazy rap.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
Songs, but that's what I was thinking.
Speaker 10 (34:07):
I feel like it's the same.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
I can jump out of that energy, you know, and
you know, like go to church.
Speaker 10 (34:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Yeah, I was just here to say, I'm sure there's
something that gets your heart pounding a little bit and
then able to lower it down.
Speaker 7 (34:17):
Gucca Man, Like I've listened to Gucci Man for years
and years and years. I never saw dope and damn.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
So explain that.
Speaker 13 (34:23):
To explain Gucci Man straight up drug dealer music from
back in the trap man, I was a suburban kids,
and I was a nice suburban kid with a job,
and I'll listen to it every single day.
Speaker 7 (34:33):
Never saw in my life, but corrap, every single word
to it. I feel like it's no difference, isn't Isn't that?
Speaker 6 (34:38):
Well?
Speaker 7 (34:38):
That is so.
Speaker 1 (34:41):
Seriously because he's talking about that, Ricky said, you know
that is you know all that all those things associated
the same thing with me with heavy metal. When I
bring Heaven, when I bring Highway to Hell home, everybody thinks, oh,
you got to be doing drugs, right, if I'm sitting
there banging my head to Iron Maiden, people are thinking,
(35:01):
you've got a screw loose, Hey, Sep, how do we reenact.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
This with the people?
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Man, how do we reenact what?
Speaker 4 (35:07):
The snort of the answer?
Speaker 10 (35:10):
I want to see you in your element.
Speaker 7 (35:12):
You're putting it out, you.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
Know some stuff you keep under the That's right.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
There's a lot of air guitar, and I don't know
how to play air guitar. There's a lot of drums.
When Neil Pert's on the drums and Rush, every person
is playing air drums because he's the greatest drummer of
all time, and it's it's a lot of pounding of
the steering wheel. When I'm listening to it, I can
see that, yeah, for sure. But but to your point,
I mean, there are certain times where you just got
(35:39):
to have Like when I work out, it's heavy metal
for sure. If I'm if I'm in the car my
wife and are going out to dinner, I can't put
it on. She'll turn it off. Yeah, I will put
on jazz or R and B.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Absolutely. If I'm working in the yard, I may do country.
If I'm playing golf, But Brailn and you guys. I
have a rock seventies eighties theme to it, but it's
not so heavy that it makes you, you know, when
you're standing over it with a three, would say, turn
that crap down.
Speaker 5 (36:11):
There's a lot of that going on. Some cool joints,
some cool joints in this. But the golf course is
great because you just drive back people and everybody's listening
to different stuff exactly.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
Usually she's with a bunch of young kids. They all
listen to Morgan Whalen.
Speaker 5 (36:24):
But Whalen is the most overdone couple.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
I don't want to start a fight.
Speaker 7 (36:33):
I got a couple of plists.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
No, I didn't say he wasn't good overdone, He's just
over the three shows.
Speaker 7 (36:40):
That Forefield is a little overkills.
Speaker 4 (36:42):
It's like he's good, but like.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Yeah, you're right, I mean you could you can be
that person or that entertainer where a lot of us like, okay,
I understand why some people like it and are attracted
to it, but enough is enough.
Speaker 13 (36:58):
And his defense, you gotta understand that Beyonce came out
of nowhere, so they had to They had to champion
somebody to.
Speaker 7 (37:04):
Keep there's a diact. We're still here We're still here
because I don't like.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
What I don't like about it is is country artists
they do this. Country artists they start going around the
genres when they're young artists, they start going around the
genres and you start doing features with you insert rapper here,
insert pop artists here, insert ed m here, insert another
(37:33):
type of music here, and you kind of do this
and they start collecting fans. And then what happens is
once these artists post Malone, get a little older, then
they go completely this way and you never see him again.
Miley Cyrus, I saw Miley Cyrus doing bands and make
a dance with j But I'm talking about and Daisy,
(37:56):
you trust getting it in now all of a sudden,
you guys, Joelene, Joe coming back. That's the part I
don't like, Like you go still all this added to
yours and man, this is just country.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
No, it is not.
Speaker 5 (38:09):
Half the stuff Morgan plays is pop slash hip hop,
R and B.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
But that's what country has moved to. Yeah. Look, Darius
Rucker left Hood and the Blowfish. Yeah he's had a
really successful Darius Rucker the lead singer, and he's a
really good country artist.
Speaker 5 (38:27):
Everyone always thinks his name is no for real, like
people that aren't familiar with hood and they don't know
Darius Rutger as Darius Rutger, the lead singer from Hoodyish
they know Darris Rutgers.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
Oh he's Hoodie.
Speaker 7 (38:41):
There's a he and peel for growing up.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
My mom liked the Hoody in the Blowfish.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
I thought his name was Hoody and then the group's
name Bluefish, right.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
It does. We only want to be with you. That's
there's no doubt Morgan. He's just saying, man, no, you're
I hear you. That's good stuff. Okay, listen, I want
to dive into And thanks for the info, Ricky, that's
really good. I appreciate you. Yeah, all. I p Ozzy
Osbourne and the music will live on forever. There's no question.
What's ironic about it is what was it less than
(39:14):
two weeks ago? He did? I think it was less
than two weeks so he did his final concert with
Black Sabbath, and now what you're gonna do is you're
gonna get and I've got satellite right here. Everything you know.
Ozzy's Boneyard is one of my favorites. It's I'm Gonna's
probably number two for me on my on my radio.
But what you're gonna get is it's gonna be Ozzie
(39:38):
all day, every day, maybe for the rest of the week,
and then it's gonna make me go, oh okay, Now
I got to turn on the Spotify and I gotta
go elsewhere, right because ac DC and I need all
that other stuff. And now all you're gonna get is Aussie.
But I hope the tributes come in loud and clear
because he was an icon, There's no question about it,
all right. We were talking about pressure just before. I
(39:58):
don't take a lo lot of stock in what Chris
Broussard has to say when it grew Chris Brussard of
f this one. When it comes to football, I just
don't when a guy or baseball, when a guy comes
out and tells me they should make the swing off
part of baseball on an everyday basis, I go click,
move the channel, don't listen to it. However, he did
(40:20):
bring up a really interesting topic the other day, and
that was super Bowl or Bust. Where would you have
the Lions in super Bowl or bust mode? In terms
of ranking teams that are in that discussion, Are they
in the discussion.
Speaker 5 (40:40):
Yes, okay, Yes, they're definitely in the discussion. I think third,
I got them third, I got them behind the Buffalo Bills,
who are behind the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Okay, so that's what he has. He has Baltimore, Buffalo,
he has Detroit. The surprising thing he's got since Natty
in there? Interesting and I would not have guessed that,
nor would I put them in there. I only have
I could come up with four teams, maybe five maybe yeah,
(41:12):
And I guess the first thing I want to know
is tell me what bust means first and foremost. Does
it mean it's been a disappointing season? Does it mean
things have to get blown up if you don't get there?
So everybody views the definition just a little bit different.
How do you look at that side of that discussion.
Speaker 5 (41:30):
Certain situations aren't going to get blown up. You look
at the Baltimore Ravens and how they're currently constructive. If
they don't make the super Bowl, if they don't get
to it and they don't win the super Bowl, it's
not going to get blown up. Lamar Jackson isn't going
there where. John Harball, who won the Super Bowl in
twenty thirteen. He's not going anywhere. That defense isn't going anywhere,
so it won't get blown up.
Speaker 4 (41:47):
It's just.
Speaker 5 (41:49):
You don't want to hear anything else. Like with the
Baltimore Ravens. I don't want to hear anything from the
Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens that's not We made it to
the dance and we had a hell of a fight
and we end up losing at the end of the
game to insert NFL team and Detroit Lions, but or
we won the Super Bowl and Lamar Jackson's MVP anything else.
(42:10):
Much like last year, no one really overly cared that
Lamarty win the MVP because he's won it twice and
because he didn't get to this. So I think BUS
can mean that I don't want to hear about anything
that's not the game and a good game, or you
want For Josh Allen, I think it's it's the same
because we keep giving him the yes, they keep giving
(42:32):
Josh Allen, you know, everybody's golden boy the excuse. Well,
he's played so well in the playoffs. He has the
highest passer rating, you know he has this. He had
the touchdowns to interceptions, which are all very nice, but
what he doesn't have is that appearance. What he doesn't
have is where he climbed the ladder where he and
Sean McDermott, who is really on, Not Josh, it's on
(42:55):
Sean McDermott.
Speaker 4 (42:56):
So they got to get to the super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (42:58):
Or you don't want to hear it. Do you want
to hear about them getting the FC Championship again? Do
you want to hear about You don't want to hear it.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
So, especially if they have home field advantage, right, that's interesting.
You say he's their golden golden boy.
Speaker 5 (43:11):
I mean, just just a golden story the last year.
He's the one that you know because he does things
the right way and they like him. He has the yards,
he has the stats, blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (43:19):
So he's the one they're already lobbying for, even.
Speaker 5 (43:21):
Before the last two years, which I feel like last
half of a year ago and the last half of
the year before that.
Speaker 4 (43:28):
He cemented himself in those two years.
Speaker 6 (43:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
Yeah, So Chris Broussard has he has Baltimore, Detroit, Buffalo,
San Francisco, which is what I have if I had
to pick a fifth. I mean, he also has Cincinnati,
Kansas City, Philadelphia, which is ironic.
Speaker 4 (43:48):
So since he made sense a little bit too, does it.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
I maybe I'd move Dallas up a little bit. Maybe
I'd put the Chargers probably at five. And I think
a lot of that has to do with Justin Herbert,
perhaps a little bit with Jim Harbaugh, who's supposed to
have the magic dust, and the fact that they had
eleven wins a year ago yet fell flat on their face,
and Justin Herbert hasn't won a playoff game. So that's
(44:14):
the way I mean. I would rank them probably fifth.
I would rank Baltimore, Detroit, Buffalo, San Francisco, Chargers, Cowboys.
How Kansas City. Now, it's interesting because Kansas City with
Patrick Mahomes the best quarterback on the planet, Andy Reid,
the best coach on the planet, Chris Jones arguably the
(44:38):
best defensive tackle on the planet. They I mean, outside
of that, is there anybody who going I got to
have that guy from that team? I would argue they're
not as deep and talented.
Speaker 5 (44:50):
As this second day is really good as it relates
to you said, some mean teams. I gotta figure out
which one did. I want to take the time to
break down forty nine. Let's ot with Kyle Shanahan. Yeah,
I guess it's pressure because he's been here for a
decade in that sense of being close.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
Being in the dance.
Speaker 5 (45:12):
You know, being removed last year bit of an excuse
because of the injuries to the major components. This year,
you've kind of revamped a little bit. You paid your quarterback,
your guys are healthier, Guys are back. If not now,
when Christian McCaffrey is not going to be at this
level for very much longer.
Speaker 4 (45:30):
So that fits into that window. I like that a lot.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
If they don't win this year, this might be Christian
McCaffrey's last year there.
Speaker 4 (45:39):
Yeah, why the Lions for you?
Speaker 1 (45:43):
Well, I'm for me. Everything's about expectations, and I think
the expectation. Look, the expectations internally for the Lions is
a hell of a lot higher than it is for externally.
You know that better than I do. But when you
have improved every single year under Dan Campbell, when you
have loaded up on young talent and rewarded them with money,
(46:06):
and you have guys who are back, the excuse was, well,
no Aiden Hutchinson, even though you won without him. People
built that into an excuse. Perhaps they'll do the same
thing with the coordinators. Perhaps they'll do the same thing
with Noahlie McNeil. Perhaps they'll do the same thing with
no Kevin Zeitler and no Frank Ragnow there's going to
(46:26):
be an adjustment period and so on and so forth.
This is supposed to well. I do think they're valid,
But I also think the beauty of what the Lions
have done is they have drafted and developed, and they
have gotten better. Players have gotten better. They've given them
more responsibility. They have exceeded some of that responsibility. When
you have the best secondary in the NFC, arguably Philadelphia
(46:50):
is in that conversation. For sure, you're getting Angeloni back healthy,
You're getting Hutchinson back healthy, You're missing some interior guys.
You use your first round pick on a defense tackle
who can block out the sun. I don't think there
I hate, I hate to phrase it this way. I
don't think there are excuses for them any longer. I
mean unless something happens during the regular season. You know,
if Jered Goff gets hurt, if I'm on Ross Saint
(47:12):
Brown gets hurt, I could understand why the temperature would
be lowered. I think the temperature is high because of
all of what I just said.
Speaker 5 (47:19):
You know, I agree, you know you were our excuses.
Just say, for instance, what happened last year with Baltimore Ravens.
They didn't have their best receiver. And guess what people
were tired of making excuses for Baltimore Lamarin's action. They
act like it didn't happen. So yeah, you're one dred
percent right. The Lions have to be long on this,
and it's because of how the last two years have gone.
Last two years ago you get the MC Championship. Last
year you had the most wins in the NFC. Now
(47:40):
you got all those guys back. What would be the
excuse this year? Dan Campbell is now a season coach.
Like also, you don't get this window forever because guess
what happens next year? You got some people that are
coming down that pipeline that you gotta pay right, you
got some people that So this team as it's currently constructed,
a lot of people say the rates roster in Detroit
(48:01):
a liance history won't look like this next year. It
will not look like this last year.
Speaker 4 (48:05):
Look what she looked. What the Kansas City Chiefs had
to do. I know they obliterate. Look what the.
Speaker 5 (48:10):
Eagles had to after winning. See this is why. Yeah,
it's neither here nor there.
Speaker 1 (48:15):
But that's why people talk about windows. Even though I'm
not a big believer in that, I understand why people
talk about it because, especially in football, your roster is constant.
Yeah right, and you're trying to bring in Braylan Edwards
leaves for free agency. How do I replace the production?
How do I replace the size of the receiver? How
(48:36):
do I replace that position? Sometimes it's not just one guy,
Sometimes it's more than one guy.
Speaker 5 (48:42):
Also, too, A major thing is in sports now they're
trying to get younger and younger and younger, which means
you're moving older.
Speaker 4 (48:49):
Guys out faster and faster and faster.
Speaker 5 (48:51):
Like when I was playing the NFL, guys have been
playing for twenty years, Like I played against London Fletcher,
Like I played against London Fletcher, twenty one year linebacker,
nineteenploy but now like it was then, Now, man, you're
an old guy, if you're year seven. What happens is
that experience, the players that have been there, the players
that fight, the players that can speak between the coach
(49:13):
and the locker room, Like those players are far and
few and when you lose them, Frank Rag, Now next
year we'll lose Taylor Decker. Like you start, the team
becomes younger. Now you have to start it again in
terms of the mental So the cycle off process is
definitely a big part of why that window is high
and the Lions number three on this list.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
Next year, that office line is going to look completely different.
Speaker 1 (49:34):
How much of that has to do with the way
the NFL is run When they're taking guys and they
don't want to pay guys who've been there for an
extended period of time. Everything's front loaded. Here you go
break this is a really good looking contract, but most
of it's taken up in the first year or two,
and then by year four, I can cut you easier.
How much of that is the system in which the
NFL works.
Speaker 5 (49:55):
Yeah, that started when they locked the NFL out. Right
when they locked the NFL out, it's like, look, y'all
making too much money, will lock you out. I want
to say it was oh seven and they locked us out.
And what they did was like, we're gonna frontload these
contracts and then you get the veteran guys to get upset.
So now you have this back and forth with the veterans.
Now you have this inks between the young guys and
(50:16):
the veterans. And then what they do. They come back
to CBA start front loading contracts and everybody says that
looks appealing.
Speaker 4 (50:25):
And then you know what allows them to do It
allows them to get rid of players.
Speaker 5 (50:28):
So people got so caught up in the numbers on
the front end and they can get this and then
you'll put caps on the rookies, so that'd be cool.
They forgot about the back end, and that's why you
see them have the ability to get rid of players
faster and faster fast.
Speaker 4 (50:40):
It's a very dirty game that the NFL plays it.
Speaker 1 (50:42):
It really is, especially when the NFL has a connection
with Disney for two point seven million, Fox for two
point two five billion, Paramount for two point one billion,
Comcast for two billion. You said you weren't go for
two billion, You said you.
Speaker 5 (50:58):
Weren't a fan of negotiations before contracts were over. When
NFL went back when I was playing and did the
TV deal, they were under.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
Contract, well, I said, for players, but if the league's
going to do it, But.
Speaker 4 (51:13):
They went back and did it. And then in turn,
if the players.
Speaker 1 (51:15):
Yes, but I was referring to a player who's got
Trey Hendrickson specifically, he's got one year left on his contract,
TJ Watt specifically, they're going to hold out even though
they signed the deal. Okay, that's an issue for me,
but I understand why they do it. I understand that
your your shelf life is limited, especially in the NFL.
(51:37):
If the league is going to go back and renegotiate
that kitty and they're gonna get more money, then players
have every right to do the same damn thing. Okay,
and anybody who says differently as a hypocrite. Period.
Speaker 5 (51:50):
The thing that they do that when they renegotiate those deals,
it ends up happening, is they renegotiate it, and it does.
Speaker 4 (51:56):
Help the player.
Speaker 5 (51:57):
It helps the current young player, It helps the player
that is somewhere between rookie and year three. That helps
those guys because now this new deal then that following year,
the following year, and the following year. But the guys
are older, man, they don't really get a chance to
enjoy that. Honey, as they say, I.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
Hope they understand that right away. I hope they understand
that on draft day when they walk out on stage
and get that fake hug from Grandpa, it drives me nuts.
It's one of the more nauseating things where it's just like, Oh,
I want to pick you up and I will love you,
and I want to give your jersey, and you got
that ad on. Let's take a picture together. I hope
your framing. Put it up in your office, and I
(52:33):
want to throw up in my mouth.
Speaker 4 (52:34):
He makes sense. Did you see what his contractor there
his new contract?
Speaker 5 (52:39):
Yeah, sixty eight million dollars a year, his new contract.
Speaker 1 (52:43):
So here's my question. We'll talk about players constantly about
how much they make. It's automatically associated with them. Well,
you know Hobby or Biers makes twenty five million dollars shop. Yes,
I understand that. How much does the commissioner make? Nobody
ever says anything. He's bringing him money to the league.
He's doing a really good job of it. I'm not
saying he shouldn't be rewarded. I'm just telling you when
(53:06):
I watch television, when I watch the games, I'm not
watching for a man in a suit and Cole Han's
walking the sideline. I'm watching for the guy who is
ready to deliver a touchdown pass, a game saving tackle,
or whatever the case may be.
Speaker 5 (53:22):
But yeah, but the best thing about it is see
the players. They have the fan base, and the fan
base can lobby against the player and the money and
all that. Like, it's the fan base that they set up.
Nobody's carrying what Roger Goodell does as a fan. Like
the masses. They don't care about Royger Goodell, so you'll
never get that. But players, man, it's the fan bases.
Speaker 1 (53:42):
It's it's how much we as members of the media.
Let the fans know. People don't know Automatically. People can
tell you how much guys are making. Oh my god,
we're gonna look at how much shoe heel tiny's signed,
because it's written in every article associated with him. Just
about Juan Soto signed for seven hundred plus million dollars.
(54:04):
Everybody knows that, right. Nobody knows how much commissioners make
because anytime somebody writes an article about it, they are
not referring to his salary. Players are associated with their statistics,
the length of service and their salaries. Commissioners are not.
You know, what they're associated with, how many more years
(54:24):
do they get from the owners and what have they
done for the league? You know how much? Do you
know how much any of the commissioners make? Do you
have any idea? But I bet you can name how
your favorite player and how much he makes. It's a
it's a very one sided situation.
Speaker 9 (54:40):
I see over there, man, I see it on your face. Man,
shep going to bat for the players on this one.
Speaker 4 (54:46):
I appreciate that, man.
Speaker 5 (54:47):
It's it's it's like any other job that you do,
not the commissioner, any other job the NFL. Once you
get paid, you can get criticized or critique for your job.
Speaker 4 (54:56):
For the most part. See as a.
Speaker 5 (54:58):
Commissioner, which is basic a liaison fancy word for a
liaison or a go between between the go between between
the players and the owners, the go between between the
owners and the media. Those people have no saying come on,
those people don't really necessarily have They're just liaisons, their mouthpieces.
(55:20):
They don't have the mindset, you know what I'm saying, Like,
it's not their thoughts, their things, They're just passing informations
and essentially it's like Lee Obedi was before.
Speaker 4 (55:28):
Man.
Speaker 1 (55:30):
Shame, but I would I would say this. I'm not
afraid to shame on the players Association for not doing
more about it. I'm not I'm not proposing please go
on strike and all that other stuff. Something needs to
be negotiated where football players specifically. All Right, How this
league has gone as long as it has without guaranteed
(55:50):
contracts is beyond me. I don't think it would have
ruined the product. I don't. I think it has ruined
some products in certain sports NBA, right, I don't think
it would for the NFL. How people have allowed this
this long? I questioned the leadership of players.
Speaker 5 (56:08):
I do you're keeping back in these greasy individuals that
do greasy things. You know what I'm saying in terms
of like, in terms of people that actually work in
that space, there are people that get paid a lot
of money, and when that money comes, it's like, this
is what you're not gonna do it.
Speaker 4 (56:22):
This is what you're gonna be on.
Speaker 5 (56:23):
This is what you're gonna push, This is the agenda,
This is how you give the information. You want this check,
you want this, You know you you want what comes
with this. You want your people to be good. Will
help us, and we'll help you.

I need some help, Ricky, he went to the barbershop

Really fun conversation regarding the National Football League. We welcome
(01:02:09):
the chats. We welcome you to follow us on our
social media channels. We welcome the chats. Really fun to
see what you have to say and get your opinion
as well. We were talking about Super Bowl or bust earlier.
When you look at the Detroit Lions, I think they
have everything it takes to win a Super Bowl. Now,
(01:02:31):
I'll be the first to admit I picked them a
year ago before the season began. Didn't pick them fifteen
to two. That was ridiculous. Yeah, didn't pick them to
go on defeated in the division. That was ridiculous. And
didn't pick them to win every game on the road,
that was ridiculous too. But I do feel they're as
deep and talented a team as any team in the
National Football League. Why do you think they could win
(01:02:53):
it all? And what prevents them from winning it all?
Speaker 5 (01:02:59):
Dan camm has gotten better as a head coach in
the four years that he's been here. Four so it's
the year five for him. He's gotten better each year.
You've seen significant change in.
Speaker 4 (01:03:10):
Him as a coach.
Speaker 5 (01:03:11):
So that's one main reason I think Dan Campbell is
proving himself to be one of those type coaches I
think he only needs the next thing to take him
to the next step. So I think that I think
it's consistency. I think it's a consistency of the players.
I think they have enough. You've seen it on offense.
They broke records, not Detroit Lion records last year. They
broke NFL records last year and the year before. Those
(01:03:33):
players are still here. You know, Jamison Williams is going
to be a much better version of himself this year
than he was last year. Amar Roz Saint Brown, if
it's possible, it's going to be a better version of
himself this year. So is Pine Sue, who I think
in his mind he has something to prove. You know,
you look at the look at the rating, look at
the grating, especially towards the end of the season, tape
it off a little bit.
Speaker 4 (01:03:53):
He has something to prove.
Speaker 5 (01:03:55):
And I think that backfield, Jamier Gives isn't the player
that he is going to be when you really are
going to be proud that you're wearing his jersey. He's
getting there. They're gonna implement him a different spot. So
I mean, I think you have Jared Goff leading that offense,
and I think on defense. A lot of players that
people don't necessarily know yet that are going to be
(01:04:15):
stars for the Detroit Lions. So they got enough, They
got the coach, and I think they got the They
have the integrity that they built over the last five years.
Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
Yeah, I think I've never been a believer that everything
is linear. Just because Braylan Edwards is good one year,
he's going to be even better than next. I think
at some point players taper off and they hit the
downside of a career. I'm not saying anybody is necessarily
doing that with the Lions, but I don't believe just
because Gibbs is good last year, he's going to be
(01:04:45):
even better this year because some of those carries might
go to David Montgomery. But Sam Laporta, that happened two
years ago. Two years ago, he was unbelievable, right, And
then last year it tapered off a little bit because
Jamison Williams is more involved, because a'mon Ross Saint Brown
was more involved, because Jamior Gibbs was more whatever the
case may be. I think your point, though, is a
valid one for me anyway, and that is that this
team and its talent at those positions I've never been
(01:05:09):
around a Lion's team that has this many players arguably
in the top five at least top ten at their positions.
We've never had it. Okay, not all at one time.
Best right tackle, maybe not, but no worse than third.
Speaker 4 (01:05:27):
Yeah, he's in the conversation.
Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
He's in the conversation. Quarterback maybe not, but he's in
the top ten. Okay, running back, top five. And David
Montgomery's pissed off of the world because people act like
they've forgotten him. And I'm glad he's pissed off because
I love David Montgomery. I want him on my team.
I think he's going to be really good this year.
He's got that purpose, right. I think Jack Campbell's going
(01:05:50):
to be better than he was a year ago, and
he was really good last year.
Speaker 10 (01:05:54):
Saman tackles, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
Aiden Hutchinson. I mean, we can go on and on
the number of different players that we can bring up
who are difference makers. I could be wrong about this,
but I've always gone into a game. If I was
preparing for a game as a broadcaster, I used to say,
how many guys on my team on my bench? In
basketball on my bench and hockey and the dugout, how
(01:06:17):
many of the other guys looking at it and go, man,
I gotta have that guy. I want that guy for
the Lions. It never used to be that many. You know,
you don't have to be, you know, a football savant
to know that I wanted Barry Sanders or Calvin Johnson
or Chris s Pielman or Benny Blades or Duh, I
know that. Okay. I'm talking about the other guys that
(01:06:39):
sometimes go unnoticed, that do the little things that people
like Braylen Edwards notices. That's why I think, Yeah, Dan Campbell, sure, Okay,
I just I think they are that deep and they
are that talented. ESBN rights their biggest strength is running back,
so I've differed on that. I think it's a strength,
no question. I think their safety group is stronger than
(01:07:00):
their running back tandem. And I actually would argue their secondary.
I would take the entire secondary, DJ Reed, Terry On Arnold, Kirby,
Joseph Brian Branch, I would argue the best in football.
And people will go, You've got to screw loose because
Terry On Arnold hasn't proven anything, but I think he
has proven solid before that.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
Before you dive in that ship.
Speaker 5 (01:07:19):
You said Jack camill is gonna get better this year,
which he is because he played well last year. That's
essentially what I'm saying as well. I'm an Ron Saint Brown,
although he's going in the year five for him, he's
going to get better because last year Jamis William played
his first seventeen game season. He played seventeen games. He
got better game after game after game after game season four.
That how many games he played? Four season before that?
(01:07:41):
How many games he played? Oh wait, he was twenty
years old and he was trying to figure out how
to get back from acl Last year was the first
year he played a full season. Now he's coming back.
This is essentially year two, but it's really year four.
He's going to be a better version of himself because
of that. That's going to make i'mar Ron Saint Brown
a better wide receiver on the other side because he
no longer has to be the only guy on the
(01:08:02):
offense that knows it. Just like Jared Goff. You got
another guy on the opposite side. Now they can tap
into that. It makes it more fun for am, makes
more fun than him. Sam Laporter got injured last year,
so they were able to use James and Williams a
lot more.
Speaker 4 (01:08:16):
That's why he didn't get better for the next year.
Speaker 5 (01:08:18):
And Gibbs they didn't even tap into him as a
wide receiver yet a little bit in the slot here
and there.
Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
So can you get.
Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
Better as an athlete if even if your numbers aren't better.
Speaker 4 (01:08:29):
In terms of ability.
Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
Yeah, Like I'm on Ross and Brown. When you say
he's gonna get better, that blows my mind because I
think he's outstanding now as a road runner and pass catcher.
I'm thinking to myself, how much better can you get?
Speaker 5 (01:08:42):
He's only me in year four? Jerry Rice didn't get
better from your forty year ten. Like at the end
of the day, I'm Aron Saint. Brown is now on
a team collectively that is as good as he is.
And also they also know what he knows. They also
have the same when you've had, you know, like the
same thing, consistency, the same team and rotate around. It
makes the job that much easier. And he's growing. He
(01:09:03):
can get faster. Barry Sanders, who I played with BJ
Barry Sanders Junior yesterday shout out to be Barry got
faster from eighty nine to ninety five, remember when he
first got in the lead.
Speaker 4 (01:09:15):
See, people won't say this because they think anything's say
negative about Barry's blasphemous.
Speaker 5 (01:09:19):
Barry used to get walked down on the longer runs
in eighty nine, ninety ninety one, ninety two, the longer
runs anything. When he was cracking fifty and above, Barry
get walked down. Barry stopped getting walked down in ninety five.
He got faster. There are many ways that you can
get better as an athlete, you know, if you tap
into that stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
And unlike eighty nine, where you got.
Speaker 5 (01:09:41):
To really search out ways to get Bears an athlete,
everybody can get you in the gym these days.
Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
I would have asked this question closer to the beginning
of the season, but being that you've brought it up,
and I'm not saying I won't ask you again for
folks who tap into our program a little bit later
on right the Brayln Edward Show, but I would ask
you when you watch, you'll mind Ross Saint Brown in
what area can you get better? And Jamison Williams too
(01:10:07):
specifically one speed.
Speaker 5 (01:10:09):
I'm not saying he's gonna go from four to five
whatever to four two, it's not gonna happen how you run.
Learning how to run, He'll get better in terms of
the new scheme because they're changing it this year. He'll
be able to understand defenses better and working with Johnny
Morton's system, I believe, just in my opinion. And also
it's the familiararity with other teams, Like once you've been
(01:10:33):
in the league, you've now been scouting the same teams
at least in your division five years. You've also now
played against some of these better teams. You played against
the Ravens, you played against the forty nine ers. It
makes you a better player because you start to understand
what is it that teams are doing against me? What
are teams doing against The Lions are all offense? You know,
how can I help j Mo? How can I help
(01:10:54):
Jared Goff? I think that's the side you start tapping
into the first couple of years. You're just like, let
me worry about what the receivers do. Let me make
sure I know all the ride receiver concepts that can
help you know, I'm excuse me. Can pass the information
down the line of scrimmage to Jaymore if he needs it.
When you start becoming an elite.
Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
Which he is.
Speaker 5 (01:11:10):
He's in five on everybody's list. He's one of those
ones they're starting to talk about. If this continues down
the line, he can be in Ohio.
Speaker 4 (01:11:19):
You know what that place is, Hi, I ain't talking
about Cleveland.
Speaker 5 (01:11:23):
More comes with that because now you got to keep
taking the level up. How did Randy Moss take the
level up? How did t O take the level up?
How did Calvin Johnson take the level up? Like, if
you're going to be one of these guys that were
consistently putting in the top five, which next year could
be whatever, then you got to take the.
Speaker 4 (01:11:41):
Level and I think that's what he'll do.
Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
Cool lady, you were gonna say something.
Speaker 9 (01:11:44):
Yeah, you know, I wanted to be able to back
up some of the things that Breda was saying, especially
with Jack Campbell too. You look at the year he had,
the improvements he made, and it was with a defense
that as the year went on got more thin and
more thin and more thin in front of him, which
means to put a whole lot more pressure on that
lineback and group, including when one mister Angeloni went down
(01:12:05):
for a little bit. I do believe that as this
defense gets healthier, you're going to see that much more.
For a guy like Jack Campbell, I think he's gonna
make his own leap already as relates to some of
the things like the speed, the strength in his own
aspect of film studying, But in terms of putting Aiden
Hudson back up there on that field, getting this team healthy,
I think that that's gonna help Jack Campbell just that
(01:12:25):
much more. With the offense, you talk about getting better,
whether the stats showed or not. I like the year
that Sam Laporta had last year, even though the stats
weren't necessarily to say.
Speaker 1 (01:12:33):
Well, yeah, that's because that's why I was deferring to
the stats Jack Campbell. As long as those those big
hosses in the middle, that's where you know you're you're
really those guys are taking on those blocks that allow
Campbell and Anzeloni and any of the linebackers to make
those tackles. Good players are always gonna make better players
or everybody better.
Speaker 5 (01:12:53):
Right, Alex as the lonely being back this year, I
think helps Jack Campbell. It's one thing to watch film
with the guy that knows the game, and you know
Alex is the guy. He's a guy putting everybody where
they're supposed to be. He's a guy and Jack, you know,
essentially learned under the first couple of years. But when
they're not on the field, it's it's it's a little
tough for to learn in watching film and then pointing
(01:13:15):
it out. Hey, look when you're getting a guy coming
up on you. While it's okay, we're visual learners, like
humans are naturally visual learners. So when you're playing side
by side and you got thirty four moving to the left,
you moving to the right, strong side, right side the
Ricky for that.
Speaker 4 (01:13:28):
Earlier, it just brings the best eye. It makes you
that much better.
Speaker 5 (01:13:33):
Green Law and Fred Warner, like green Law doesn't become
much better, but he's playing side by side.
Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
Fred Warner, who's awesome too. Yeah, I mean, And now
green Law left San Francisco, as we know. I remember
I did it three straight years, not saying that they
are I know, but I did three straight years in
NFL Europe. So I went over to Europe and I
worked with Musa Muhammad one year and one year I
worked with Darren Woodson. And the beauty of that experience
(01:14:00):
was like you would have been great over there. You
go there, they give you all access to all the
teams and you watch film. And I love watching film
with film hogs, people who know what the hell they're
looking for. Rewind it back and forth, slow mo, all
that stuff. Learned a ton from Darren Woodson on that.
It was a really good analyst for ESPN. I don't
(01:14:21):
know what the hell happened, but maybe they got to
pay some big mouse over there instead of him, but
really really good at what he does, and learned a
ton from just watching film with him. But to your point,
as he always used to say, Look, these guys can
watch all the film they want. You've got to experience
the speed. You've got to read it, reading it on
(01:14:44):
the field of play. When you have a three hundred
pound man Jack Campbell's situation, and you have a three
hundred plus pound man coming at you and trying to
shuck him and get to the next guy and make
the right read and find and then to wrap up
a beast of a running back like a d Rick Henry.
That is not an easy thing to do. So the
mind is important as the strength and the speed and
(01:15:07):
the technique.
Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
I wanted him to say, and that would be the
pressure that Jaj McCarthy has to go through This year.
We were talking about pressure on each quarterback in mc
his pressure just be that part because he can watch
all the film. He wants to with Kevin O'Connell. He
can watch all the film. He wants to sit in
side by side with Sam Darnold. And you know, oh,
I see how you did this, Sam, and you were
able to hit Jordan Adison because you know this right
here was taken out by tz Hockinson. There's another thing
(01:15:29):
when you get in that game and you got ninety
seven from Detroit Lions, like breathing down your neck as
your line is collapsed, and now to leak Williams is
about the sack you're trying to get. It's a different
animal than watching film.
Speaker 1 (01:15:40):
I remember talking to Stafford one time in the in
the locker room, and I said, how the hell did
you make that throw? It was a throw down the
left sideline might have been to Calvin, might have been
to Brandon Pedigroy, forget. He said, well, I saw the
safety turn like this. It's just a turn like that.
And I'm thinking, so you've got guys with bad breath
(01:16:00):
at you right, you can hear all of it. I mean,
it's it's really it's awesome. When you watch a football
game for the sideline, it's really special. The speed is intense,
it's unbelievable. And I'm thinking, you got hands going up
in the air and you're looking at a at a
corner and all you're looking for is thirty yards away, Yeah,
(01:16:22):
maybe even more. And all you're looking is the shoulder.
Does that? That's it? With shoulder pads? How do you
know the air conditioning didn't kick in?
Speaker 7 (01:16:29):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
You know what I'm saying. It's amazing the little things
you guys look for.
Speaker 5 (01:16:33):
Was able to make that throw for three reasons. One,
he has one of the strongest arms the NFL has
ever seen. Not in the last twenty five I don't
play the game. He has one of the strongest arms
the NFL has ever seen. He got one of bread firearms,
like he's just gonna have it for life. Like breadfire
probably still can throw the ball as far and fast
as he wants to. Is trust and his Calvin is
trusting his Calvin. You can take Calvin out the situation.
(01:16:55):
It would just be trust. The fact that Calvin was
in a situation is trust. And it's mega try. And
the other one is it's a spot. It's throwing to
a spot. Boom boom boom.
Speaker 4 (01:17:03):
All I see is this.
Speaker 5 (01:17:04):
I know where that spot is because I started throwing
to that spot in April. Then I was throwing it
that spot in May. Then I was throwing that spot
in June, and then here comes training camp. I was
throwing in July and August. When the season comes, I've
been throwing it that spot with that wide receiver essentily
for a very long time.
Speaker 13 (01:17:23):
That reminds me of you ever seeing Belichick tell the
story of the greatest play ever against is ed Ree
where he faked him out because the whole play was
if Edree goes a certain way, he throw it here.
So ed Reed turns his hips knowing that they're going
to throw it there. As soon as he throws it,
he turns the other way and gets then interception.
Speaker 7 (01:17:38):
It's like that where it's just it's it's like it's
a game of chest on that field, and it's amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:17:44):
I don't and I don't say this because Braylean's to
my right. I say this in all sincerity, and I've
said it for a long time. I don't think football
players get nearly enough credit for their cerebel ability. Everybody
feels like because it's such a physical sport, it's a
collision sport. Okay, it's not a physical sport. It's a
collision sport. I mean you are in a car accident
(01:18:06):
on a regular basis. For him to go across the
middle and know that he could get lit up by
somebody legally is a tough pill to swallow in the
first place. But the ability to adjust first the language,
then the speed, and then finalize what you envision and
(01:18:29):
adjust off that and then make the play. Think about
how many times you've done that. You've done three quarters
of it. The last thing is to catch the ball.
Done years of it and you and unfortunately that one
time you don't catch the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
It's like that because the possibility for if this works
like that's why I love it. And I know if
not if, but when this works, like I know the
coverage because I've been giving the coverage through practice, I
know the play, we've been working on it. I know
what I'm supposed to do, and I know what the
adjustments is supposed to do. It's worth it to me
(01:19:05):
to have Ray lay me out to have this thing
that I love so much go right.
Speaker 4 (01:19:10):
It's like a doctor.
Speaker 5 (01:19:10):
And I'm not comparing myself to anybody, but just any
profession that you're in, where you're in it for that long,
it's worth it. Why do doctors go to school for eight, nine,
ten years and then do residencies and then do all
this stuff and they have to deal with when you're
in that operating room and it may go awright, like
why do you put yourself in that position? Because they
absolutely had a passion and they love it. They love
helping people, they love fixing people up, and they love
(01:19:33):
helping people their lives. I love catching touchdowns, I love
getting first downs, and I love winning on the football
field with the squad.
Speaker 4 (01:19:39):
So it's worth it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:40):
Yeah, the doctors do that. It's not a game, man,
it's not operation. You know. Hey, oh my hands are shaking,
but I'm out. No, that's not the way it works.
I do want to get some thoughts on what Dan
Campbell did earlier today. It may surprise some people, but
maybe there is a message there to be taken from it.
Braylen Edward's on that when we come back after Jeff

Hey, we're back.
Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
You weren't You weren't here obviously. Yesterday we had some
some conversation about shows that you watch, and I don't
watch a lot of shows. I watch a lot of sports,
but I don't watch a lot of shows. My sons
did show me this, this one show about a guy
who eats. He takes on all these food challenges man
(01:24:15):
versus Yeah, Beard, Beard eats food, Beard meets food or
whatever it's called. Anyway, he's a funny guy, real good guy.
My son showed me one the other day, seventy five
ounce steak. He has a seventy five ounce steak with
double sides with side for four sides, double the sides,
(01:24:38):
so on others. If you've got mac and cheese, double it, mushrooms,
double it.
Speaker 7 (01:24:43):
I enjoy my life.
Speaker 1 (01:24:44):
It's it's chili, cheese fries, double it. What he ate
it all? But but my point was, you were talking
about the steak.
Speaker 5 (01:24:53):
Yeah, oh my god, the great ninety eight, ninety six.
Speaker 1 (01:24:57):
I think it's I thought it was the ninety six.
It could be wrong John Candy anyway, and this guy
is not.
Speaker 4 (01:25:03):
A big guy. Okay, he's not.
Speaker 1 (01:25:05):
Even close to out your size, but he puts it away.
He ordered the steak well done.
Speaker 7 (01:25:11):
Oh give me.
Speaker 10 (01:25:15):
Turn it well done, ordered it well done.
Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
He said it was easier to eat and digest.
Speaker 7 (01:25:21):
Get out of here.
Speaker 1 (01:25:23):
That's that's not how he usually gets it. But he
ordered this steak well done, seventy five ounces of well done.
Speaker 7 (01:25:29):
Still just have a water like how many what?
Speaker 10 (01:25:33):
How many bottles of steak sauce did you.
Speaker 1 (01:25:36):
Have to go through a He did put barbecue sauce on,
So I disagree with that too.
Speaker 5 (01:25:44):
But well, if you if you're talking about eating to
eat and relaxed, yes, but you're talking about for his contest.
Speaker 4 (01:25:51):
Maybe still may bee well done. It made it a
little fitter. That's what he said. You cook it out
like his pause. Is a lot of fat, like.
Speaker 5 (01:25:57):
When you're that's when you do it well or medium,
not well, but medium or medium rare. It's a lot
of fats, very chewy if you will, to a certain extent.
You don't have time for chewing in this type of situation.
You got to get it in.
Speaker 4 (01:26:09):
It makes it actually makes sense.
Speaker 1 (01:26:10):
I gotta I gotta tell you a real quick story.
Speaker 4 (01:26:13):
Were you looking at it in terms of enjoying.
Speaker 7 (01:26:17):
That's the only reason you would eat it?
Speaker 1 (01:26:18):
Yeah, this is blasphemous too. I'm gonna tell you a
quick story. Then we're gonna dive back into football. What
Dan Campbell did today, I don't think i've ever I
don't think I knew what a really good steak was
until I was in my twenties, because when I was
a kid, my dad had everything, and I mean everything
well done. He ordered it all well done. When we
(01:26:41):
were at home and we had steaks, everything was well done.
When we had burgers. You might as well tee it
up for Darren McCarty to shoot a slap shot. It's
the same damn thing okay meat, Look, everything was well done.
I guess it's because he was in the war, and
you know he hated things that were kind of soupy
and lane like that. But it was unbelievable that when
I first got the steak and I order it usually medium,
(01:27:05):
you know, closer to medium rare than medium, and you
realize the taste that comes out in it. It's like,
I don't know anybody in their right mind can order any.
Speaker 7 (01:27:15):
Of that just well done, even the texture everything. Then
you just enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (01:27:19):
Your mouth is watering right now.
Speaker 7 (01:27:20):
A hundred. I'll sticking to Smith and yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:27:24):
I would love to know why they haven't brought a
steak yet. I'd love to know the answer to that.
Speaker 5 (01:27:27):
If we're gonna play this game, we gotta be honest.
Like in our culture growing up like well done is
the thing.
Speaker 1 (01:27:33):
Yeah, Like in the black culture.
Speaker 5 (01:27:36):
Blackach like well done is the thing. Why because like most.
Speaker 7 (01:27:42):
Things in black culture, we really don't know. We can
act like we know.
Speaker 4 (01:27:45):
Because because are you know, like.
Speaker 5 (01:27:48):
Beat great friend friends, it's supposed to be cooked through,
that's supposed to be when it comes from way.
Speaker 7 (01:27:57):
Right with chicken. Yeah, but one day when you only
do have a good steak. I'm like, yeah, why would
I do that?
Speaker 5 (01:28:03):
Like you don't want to go against like I didn't. Legitimately,
I didn't order a medium steak until I was maybe
thirty boy really well, just no, I switched up to
medium well like when I was playing, like when I
got drafted. But I didn't go to medium until like
like thirty five.
Speaker 1 (01:28:23):
Did somebody tell you to or did you just do
it because of the taste buds?
Speaker 5 (01:28:26):
Because you I just start I just started paying attention
and start understanding that it wasn't BS I was being fed.
It was truth. There's more flavor into it, and you
don't want to overcook the situation. So I it would
be okay. I wouldn't get food poisoning, I wouldn't get.
Speaker 4 (01:28:40):
Sick, I wouldn't die.
Speaker 5 (01:28:41):
So these are the things that you wrestled with when
you finally because when you make that first cut and
you look all right, they said it was okay to do.
So it takes a while in the coach. It took
me while most of my family is still well done.
Speaker 7 (01:28:56):
I still want eat sushi. Dad to state won't touch sushi.
Speaker 5 (01:28:59):
Yeah, just to back that up, that's your sisters and
I know she's she's gonna be bizz like no Jay,
she's meeting much like Cam.
Speaker 4 (01:29:06):
But most of his family still well, but sushi, what
does sush you have.
Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
To do a steak?
Speaker 7 (01:29:10):
Ricky people see as raw meat. They see it as
the same.
Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
I guess you.
Speaker 4 (01:29:16):
I don't know why.
Speaker 10 (01:29:17):
Yeah, I was just gonna back that up. Even my house.
Speaker 9 (01:29:19):
A lot of what Brailan is saying, that's how it's
told to You got to get that thing cooked thoroughly.
I thought steak for my whole life, for the large
portion of my life and all my childhood was supposed
to be tire rubber.
Speaker 10 (01:29:31):
Then my dad said, when he got further into corporate.
Speaker 9 (01:29:34):
America, a friend ordered a mistake and he said, bro,
you gotta have it this way.
Speaker 1 (01:29:38):
He was like.
Speaker 9 (01:29:38):
My dad was like, look, I'm not doing beat him.
He's like, just try medium. Well, my dad didn't go back.
He introduced me to it, and since then I was
I was a man. I was in my twenties. It's
been medium well ever since. But I can't go. I
can't go beyond that threshold.
Speaker 7 (01:29:52):
Really, I can't do a little blood. I can't.
Speaker 10 (01:29:54):
I can't not at all.
Speaker 13 (01:29:57):
Got a little bit, I said, media, but like medium
you start, that's what you have to get.
Speaker 7 (01:30:00):
You know, you might have a little blood in there.
Speaker 1 (01:30:02):
Yeah, got you a little bit, Ricky. Ricky is telling
the truth.
Speaker 2 (01:30:06):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:30:06):
I love that we don't we don't know the things
we don't know.
Speaker 7 (01:30:11):
Well, so many traditions. People you don't know where it
came from.
Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
Traditions? Serious, how do you buck them?
Speaker 7 (01:30:19):
It's hard.
Speaker 10 (01:30:19):
It takes a lot sometimes got to be shown the light.
Speaker 5 (01:30:25):
It takes somebody that you either either look up to,
super love or trust to, like that you that you
all right, this is the personal listen, this is the personality.
Speaker 4 (01:30:35):
Or somebody that you see is like in that world.
Speaker 5 (01:30:37):
Like, the person that really got me to the Steaks
place was my guy that rans well, he used to
run Smith and Welinsky's in New York. Also catch and
what's the freaking spot that he happened? But anyway, catch
Catch Steakhouse. I came in there when I was playing
for the Jets, and he was just looking at my steaks.
Speaker 1 (01:30:53):
Like you you're ruined, you're ruining the pace.
Speaker 4 (01:30:57):
His name is Eugene. He's like, what is this? What
are you doing?
Speaker 5 (01:31:00):
Finally, but that's because I went to three of his
steakhouses because I said, I'm like, all right, it's got
me something to.
Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
Yeah, somebody in the chest says, it's a hard fact.
Nothing worse than a dry steak. Amen, you should not
need this is my opinion. You shouldn't need any sauce,
any zip sauce, any a one. God forbid, you shouldn't
need anything like that. With a really good steak at
all should stand on its own.
Speaker 9 (01:31:25):
He no live man had some medium well steak bites
last night with the onions, with the mushrooms.
Speaker 10 (01:31:31):
I had an establishment that all of us know.
Speaker 9 (01:31:33):
They got one in downtown Detroit, one off of Northwestern, and.
Speaker 10 (01:31:36):
Everything pretty good.
Speaker 9 (01:31:38):
You know what, We're gonna make sure we get some
stuff on the show, but we do got to.
Speaker 1 (01:31:43):
Complete discuss you know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 9 (01:31:48):
It open about a guitar center and not know but
uh barn with the five dollars super chat. You guys
got the chat moving with this. When he says, right,
I worked in a steakhouse. There is well done, and
Black community well done.
Speaker 4 (01:32:07):
That's fact.
Speaker 5 (01:32:08):
That is that man, that's that's definitely well done.
Speaker 10 (01:32:19):
And you know what.
Speaker 9 (01:32:20):
Shoutouts as well to Michael weary. He was campaigning for
a hundred lights before the first hour. He said, thank you,
chat we got one hundred plus lights already.
Speaker 10 (01:32:29):
The chats on fire today. It's a great show from
you guys at the dust. Shout out to bright shot.
Speaker 4 (01:32:33):
Michael where I appreciate that man. Much love to you.
He's been here for a very long time. Support man.
Speaker 5 (01:32:37):
Continue that and we will continue to try to get
better for you and the rest of the individual in
the chat. I am one of the few though that
understands the medium meeting rare. I don't have a problem
with it. Blah blah blah. Let people eat what they
want to eat on their steaks. Like, if you choose
to want to do sauce with an amazing steak, that's
your preference.
Speaker 1 (01:32:58):
I'm not I'm not saying that it's it's wrong. I'm
just saying a really good steak should stand on its own.
If you want to add it, that's great, but it
should be it should be really good without you needing it.
Speaker 13 (01:33:11):
This is the same iron covers, the same iron covered debate.
Speaker 7 (01:33:15):
It's the same.
Speaker 1 (01:33:15):
Debate iron coverment, cover your iron your clubs.
Speaker 7 (01:33:18):
Yeah, I like it's the same debate.
Speaker 1 (01:33:20):
Oh my god.
Speaker 7 (01:33:21):
There's an argument for it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:22):
But at the same time, if Aaron Rye does that
on the on the PGA tour, I think it's people
hate it. I can't stand.
Speaker 4 (01:33:28):
I can't I can't stand.
Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
This is me.
Speaker 4 (01:33:30):
I can't stand.
Speaker 5 (01:33:31):
People that take their driver cover up every single time.
I'm gonna put my driver cover back on it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:37):
That's me.
Speaker 2 (01:33:37):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (01:33:39):
When over I put the club back, I'm not doing
I can't do it. I gotta take it off, put
it on, take it off. I'm not doing that. Here here,
club hit, I'll see you in five hours.
Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
Yeah, I do that. So because if they start banging,
then maybe they can ruin the club a little bit.
I have a beer. It's a beer.
Speaker 4 (01:33:57):
Is the banging going to ruin your game that much?
Speaker 5 (01:34:00):
It's not everything from seventy to eighty it's listen.
Speaker 1 (01:34:05):
I'm not saying I'm not claiming it helps my game.
I'm saying it helps my club. I don't want to
spend another six hundred and fifty dollars on a driver. Okay,
so that's the reason I come. I got to sim
to Okay, it has helped me, has not helped me? Yeah,
good contact That goes way right, yeah, way right, all right.
(01:34:26):
Dan Campbell did something today, really good discussion. Thank you
fellow much. I learned something.
Speaker 4 (01:34:31):
Basically every day it's that guy right there, it's Ricky.
Speaker 1 (01:34:33):
Yeah. When Ricky comes out and some of the stuff,
I am laughing. Trust me, when I'm driving home, I
am laughing.
Speaker 7 (01:34:39):
My mouth is better than BC. Well that's his medium.
Well done, BC, laugh that's amazing.
Speaker 4 (01:34:51):
That is amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
So Dan Campbell, in case people missed it today at practice,
he cut it short. What's you read into that?
Speaker 4 (01:34:59):
If it can be two fold?
Speaker 5 (01:35:02):
You know, what I heard was he didn't like the intensity.
He didn't like where the practice was going. Usually when
you don't like the intensity, that means guys are kind
of going through the motions, maybe some mistakes, and maybe
it's not where you want it to be. Keep in mind,
you know, it's just started. So what it sounds like
to me is a little bit of pressure. You know
what I'm saying speaking of that word, A little bit
(01:35:22):
of pressure on who Okay, this is on Dan Campra's
conversations about Dan Campbell, I think a little pressure on
him giving everything that happened at the end of last
year and off season fair enough, they started earlier, got
the Hall of Fame game coming up, which means they
got to start looking better faster.
Speaker 4 (01:35:39):
So now you're trying to implement this.
Speaker 5 (01:35:40):
You still have injuries that are happening as we speak,
reminiscent kind of like last year, and you're trying to
get some of these younger guys going and get them activated.
When you got guys that come out and they're not
on part, they're not on pace, they're not matching you.
They have a lot of mays, which is mister Simon's
guys going the wrong place.
Speaker 4 (01:35:57):
They're all over them.
Speaker 5 (01:35:58):
It's not what you want, it's not the look you want.
You're basically feeling as a coach, we are out here
wasting time, So you know you call it.
Speaker 4 (01:36:07):
He called a practice. I think there was a fight.
Speaker 5 (01:36:09):
That happened after he kind of got after the guys
a little bit, another fighting suit.
Speaker 4 (01:36:13):
He kicked the player out of practice, and then is
when he shut it down.
Speaker 5 (01:36:17):
I think this is Dan Campbell trying to let the
team know that this is not the year for BS. Like,
I'm not gonna read this as the pressure aspect. Yes
it's there, but I'm not gonna read this as Dan
Campbell doing too much early. I'm thinking this is Dan
Campbell setting the tone forty once this year to be
about train can started a day ago, like we gotta
get this thing in rocking and rolling. I don't want
any bs. Last time you saw Dan Campbell, he was smiling,
(01:36:41):
he was giggling, he was pointing in the crowd, and
then it got rocked by the Washington commanders. I think
that Dan is gone. Like the fun times and all
that stuff. It'll come back a little bit, but it
won't look as fun as last year. It won't look
as fun as two years ago. When you're going through
it's not gonna look as fun as a twenty two
season when you finish eight at the last ten games
you want. It's not gonna be like that because this
(01:37:02):
is business. You've already established who you are. You've already
put yourself in the standing where people believe you're either
two or three and give or take. In the NFC,
it's no time for games, mistakes, fighting and all that
fun stuff, all that grit.
Speaker 4 (01:37:16):
Nah. No, no, no, no.
Speaker 5 (01:37:17):
We are here to get better, and we're here to
get better as fast as we can because we don't
have any time to play this year.
Speaker 4 (01:37:23):
I think he said in that tone.
Speaker 1 (01:37:24):
You can only play that card so often though, stopping practice.
It's kind of like the closed door meetings in baseball
or basketball whatever. You can only play that card so
often for a team. It's got to be effective, but
it's got to happen every once in a while in
order for it to really work fair.
Speaker 5 (01:37:41):
And what needs to happen too, it needs to be
a complete like get out of here, not one of
those get out of here is we're ending practice and
you know, you guys go in locker room, get a
quick lift in, get a bite to eat. I'll see
you guys upstairs, and blah blah blah nah. Just get
them out of there. Don't even talk to him like
this is what Rex Ryan did to us one time.
I want to say twenty ten. We were coming off
(01:38:03):
the AFC Championship, lost the year before to the Peyton
Manning and the coach. Now we're on hard knocks. Now,
expectations go up. Now we got Ladani and Thomlinson, Jason Taylor,
and this is what the expectations is. Rex did that
like practice for like we were all over the place
didn't look like it. People were here, people were there,
(01:38:23):
people were getting caught up, and he just stopped practice
read us, kicked us out of there and didn't talk
to us.
Speaker 4 (01:38:30):
No coaches came by and like, hey, look, we'll have
a little meeting.
Speaker 5 (01:38:33):
No, you're completely up, because that lets the players know, oh,
he's mad mad, And then what happens is inadvertently players
police themselves. Here comes Amarrad Saint Brown, Here comes Taylor Decker,
Here comes Alex Azeloni. Yo, fellas, not a team meeting.
We're gonna go out, walk through. You know, we're gonna
(01:38:54):
watch some film on our own. You know, we're gonna
go do something our own like. It creates that and
it takes ownership. It keeps the own piece going for
the Detroit Lions. So I'm cool with it right now.
If I hear about another one of these and it's
not in the season, then we have different conversation.
Speaker 1 (01:39:10):

Speaker 5 (01:42:28):
A lot of people happy to see us together. That's
one thing about the outing. He asked me about the outing.
I think that probably was the best part. And I
don't say that like you said, because you're sitting there.
A lot of people say, hey, I heard your pardon
that with Shep Ya we love Shep or Chef's of
pro Man. It's gonna be a good show with you guys.
A lot of feedback from.
Speaker 7 (01:42:44):
That's great one the city.
Speaker 1 (01:42:48):
Or there's a lot of people going SEPs to jackass Man.
Why you like Ricky? You see him slide that in
that too. But we like Jack.
Speaker 5 (01:42:58):
You know yourself, yourself where those people are gonna watch
those are gonna watch the show too, right, people? What
was that stat that Howard Stern said that one time?
He said, yeah, people, seventy five percent of people that
watch the show don't like me, and that's cool because
they watched.
Speaker 7 (01:43:15):
The sho Yeah, they listen for two hours.
Speaker 13 (01:43:16):
See, people who liked me listen for hours to people
who don't like me listen for two hours.
Speaker 4 (01:43:20):
That's what it was.
Speaker 1 (01:43:20):
Something like that, speaking of not liking somebody. The w
NBA they were going really really has pissed some people off.
Speaker 10 (01:43:30):
That's where you were going.
Speaker 1 (01:43:32):
Now they're about to get the Detroit team back, which
is which is good for the city in twenty twenty nine,
is it?
Speaker 10 (01:43:38):
I guess right?
Speaker 7 (01:43:39):
You say so?
Speaker 1 (01:43:40):
Listen. I was part of that for a long time.
It was at times, well financially what it was. It
was different, man, it was a lot different. I love
My favorite part of that job was working with Rick Mohrn. Honestly, Okay,
is it great for the city. I don't know yet.
(01:44:01):
I don't know yet. Okay, I don't think anybody does.
The support seems to be generating more and more people
in the seats to me, and the easy thing to
do is take shots at the league, and it's not
always fair. But they did have their All Star game
of the weekend. There's all kinds of low lights associated
with it. Them making a statement on T shirts. That's fine.
(01:44:25):
Pay us what you owe us. I'm not sure what
the league owes them. But most leagues are cheap with
their players, Okay most, I'm not saying all when you're
losing a lot of money and I know they only
want a percentage, Okay, they don't want to be paid
the same as the NBA guys. They want the percentage.
When you're losing a lot of money and you rely
(01:44:46):
on another league to keep you afloat, and part of
those TV deals are associated with that other league, You've
got to be really careful on how you go about
your collective bargaining agreement or debate or what you're asking
for coming out and demanding a higher stipend from mom
(01:45:07):
and dad as a teenager when you've broken curfew all
weekend long, doesn't work and broke the toilet and broke
the toilet, I like that.
Speaker 5 (01:45:19):
Yeah, you're absolutely right as it relates to that, I
say it, say it.
Speaker 4 (01:45:25):
No no no no no.
Speaker 5 (01:45:26):
No no no, I'm going to say it, but I'm packaging
it up the right way. The w NBA right now
as a whole, it seems to be in their late
nineties early two thousand NBA mode.
Speaker 4 (01:45:37):
What I mean by that, now you're starting to see
all the fights.
Speaker 5 (01:45:40):
Now, you're starting to see all the anks and all
the aggression on the court and disrespect.
Speaker 4 (01:45:43):
Between players and things like that.
Speaker 5 (01:45:45):
Now you're seeing the press conferences and the pressors, and
you know, the fashion style and everything is more than
what the game is.
Speaker 4 (01:45:50):
You got you know, you got individuals wearing the do
rags and talking all types of stuff and like it's
just it's very eerie, similar to.
Speaker 5 (01:45:58):
That two thousand brands in the NBA where you got
Ai at the microphone with the do rag and then
eventually you got Latrelle's Spreewell. A couple of years before that,
he's fighting in camp. You have all this craziness and
then the NBA, since we got to make a mandate.
Speaker 4 (01:46:13):
Now it was fair or not. That's not what I'm
talking about. NBA.
Speaker 5 (01:46:17):
They started changing structure, they started getting rid of players,
They started saying, Look, this is what it's going to be.
They start putting rules in place. I think that's what
the w NBA is going to get too soon. It's rules, regulations,
structure in place, because I think the individualism and everything.
Speaker 4 (01:46:33):
First of all, y'at you're in the red.
Speaker 5 (01:46:37):
As it relates to this, like pay us what you all.
It sucks, but you're not bringing in the revenue that
you think you are. I know you want a percentage,
but once.
Speaker 4 (01:46:47):
Again, you're in the red.
Speaker 5 (01:46:49):
Having worked, having worked for a company that was in
the red, you don't get paid. You don't like you
do not get paid when you're in the red. And
it is a fair order of business. Yeah, I've been
in the red for a very long time, so there
maybe be a way to fenagle some of this contract.
But the pay us what you owe us in this space,
like and the brand has actually gotten.
Speaker 4 (01:47:14):
It's gotten worse.
Speaker 1 (01:47:15):
I was gonna I was just gonna say that gotten worse.
Speaker 4 (01:47:18):
Yeah, the brand's gotten worse. I feel like they got
all the notoriety and then it just went with the poop.
Speaker 1 (01:47:24):
But they seem to have there's a nasty look like look,
we're all guys here guys handle things differently. Yes, all right.
If if Braylon or kool aidter Ricky has a problem
with me, they just say, ship, I didn't like that,
stop being a jackass, and we're done with it, right,
we move on. That is not And I look, I
(01:47:46):
have three older sisters, I'm married, I have a daughter.
That is not how women handle things. And the cattiness
and the snide remarks, some of them by Kelsey Plumb
over the weekend. And I know we'll shift gears to
the NBA because I think more people in the checklar
about that is stupid. It's just and it's not good business.
(01:48:08):
And what I don't understand, and it really started last year. Look,
Michael Jordan's the greatest player I've ever seen. I don't
like him, but if I played in the league, it's
a big stretch. I would absolutely understand. He's the golden
goose the PGA. Do you think they ever got tired
(01:48:30):
of hearing about Tiger Woods and how great he is.
I mean at some point it was like, oh my god,
everybody's asking me. He's the golden goose. He's the reason
your money is going up. He's the reason that Ricky Fowler,
who has way fewer tournament wins than Arnold Palmer, can
retire at the age of thirty two, okay, because he's
not a better golfer than some of the guys, even
(01:48:52):
Fred Couples. But he can do that because Tiger Woods
paved away. I hate to tell people associated with the WNBA,
but the girl in the upper left hand corner is
the reason that your league is making money. Look at
the numbers for the All Star Game this year, way
down from the year before, three point sixty six million
two years ago. Because of her. There's a reason Nike
(01:49:15):
is paying money eight years twenty eight million dollars for her.
Adidas four years, six million dollars. Those were the bidding
wars for her under Armour four year, sixteen million Puma.
They dropped out after hearing three million dollars a year,
but Nike got her. People are jealous.
Speaker 4 (01:49:33):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (01:49:34):
I'm jealous of some people too. That doesn't mean you
kill the Golden goose. It doesn't mean you take shots
at her. It means you support it and rise up.
It's stupid. They're not smart business people. Am I wrong?
Speaker 4 (01:49:46):
Women is supporting I want to be saying the caddying.
Speaker 5 (01:49:48):
This has gone up on sports level just all around
because men are caddying, not too Once they introduced so
once they end you know, first of all, once they
hit me out, hear me out. Once they introduced social media,
it made it everybody caddy because all these guys in
the league go even in the NFL is supposed to
be the Man's Warriors game, they be going at each
other on social media. Just like, look, so I get
the cattingness. It's gone up to your point, you gotta
(01:50:12):
respect the cash. Like, at the end of the day,
respect the cash and the things have gone up. So
I just don't like the handling of that. She's rocking
that T shirt though meanwhile she's getting broke off at
the end of the day.
Speaker 13 (01:50:23):
Man, you talk about the cantiness in the NBA, it's
about the product. When we watch the NBA, we can
say how boring it was. We're like, oh, it's too
many threes. They still were shooting threes from ranges that
none of us can even conceive besides Braklan, but none
of us can conceive.
Speaker 7 (01:50:37):
And then down to two hand dunks. You can't demand
that much money. You can't too hand dunk. I'm sorry.
You got to be able to do stuff an average
person can't do. And that's the thing. It's did you
see the video of them getting this?
Speaker 5 (01:50:49):
This is this is what always this is what always hits,
and this is what always works.
Speaker 4 (01:50:53):
And this is a.
Speaker 5 (01:50:54):
Take from women. So this ain't me, It ain't shown
this or anything you want to call it. Look at
those arenas. You don't see women in there that part,
So you don't even have women support in the league, Like,
how about you get your women to support?
Speaker 4 (01:51:08):
First? What needs to go out it never goes out,
is unity. Why don't we have this right?
Speaker 5 (01:51:14):
Why don't women like you know what that shirt sits say?
Come on women, come on, sisters, whatever this is like,
stand up for us, like come come support, come out.
It needs to be an outcry to women to support.
So once you get women, once LCA.
Speaker 4 (01:51:26):
Can I mean that's a big reading, GOMA.
Speaker 5 (01:51:29):
Once LCA can pack in fifteen thousand women, then you
can start saying give us the money you owe it,
and then you'll you'll get the men to come with that,
because men always chase some women realistically crazy games. But
I'm telling you, like that needs to be the unity
message more than pay us what you owe us. Because
if you make an outcry to fellow women out there
(01:51:51):
to support us, like they doing other things in life,
whatever the topic was, you know, sexuality or other things,
to support, they step up. They show outst cancer wearing this.
Women step up, they show out. This is another cast
for women. So the slot walk they ever rose, they
stepped out, they showed up, show up for women.
Speaker 4 (01:52:09):
That needs to be the cry that women do.
Speaker 5 (01:52:11):
And once you get that cry, once you get that woman,
which ain't gonna be too hard. Once you get that moment,
now you can wear these shirts. Now you can leverage
that partnership, and now you can get more dollars. That's
the way I will go about it.
Speaker 7 (01:52:23):
It'll never happened.
Speaker 1 (01:52:24):
How many you don't think you don't you don't think
they're capable.
Speaker 7 (01:52:29):
And I've made two girls. They will never they will
never band.
Speaker 1 (01:52:32):
Better be careful, now they will.
Speaker 4 (01:52:34):
I will put don't.
Speaker 7 (01:52:37):
See what agrees. She's not going to go to w.
Speaker 10 (01:52:42):
I'm not gonna get in trouble.
Speaker 1 (01:52:43):
Stacy Krean Stacey Stacy King played for the Bulls for
a long time, you know, and now he does a
lot of television he said this the other days, as
you're fighting for better salaries and you're portraying in United
Front at your biggest event, you still find a way
to throw shade at one player Kitley Clark. Why look
at the reaction from some players after one specific player
(01:53:07):
Kelsey Plump just for no reason, absolutely shade there. Like
they go out of their way to do it. And
and that's the thing that I can't I can't understand,
Like even in the All Star Gate or remember, they
put full core pressure on her. Everybody else they're paying
their laying. Like if she went to the league and said,
(01:53:27):
I'll tell you what, I'm just gonna play the three
on three league, forget to dole the NBA because I'm
still gonna She's still gonna make her endorsements. Yeah, but
forget the w NBA.
Speaker 4 (01:53:35):
A good point.
Speaker 1 (01:53:36):
I would love to see what the reaction would then be,
you know, would it be? Rory McElroy asked when people
left for living and then years later go, you know,
I can understand why why because some of your buddies
left and now you want them on your Ryder Cup team.
Oh now it's okay, right.
Speaker 5 (01:53:55):
Rory was shady with that and look, I love Tiger
Woods too. He was shady too because they were also
getting that billion down the deal that they did for.
Speaker 4 (01:54:01):
That uh the uh the uh the golf thing the
golf during season what was it called?
Speaker 1 (01:54:09):
Yeah, and that was a thing similar that.
Speaker 4 (01:54:11):
Was already in place. All that. So that's why Tiger
and Rory went way all.
Speaker 1 (01:54:22):
But then but then John rom goes to live and
Rory McElroy comes out and says, oh, yeah, I'd love
to have him. I wanted my Ryder Cup team. Oh
it wasn't just long ago where you're sitting here complaining
left and right about these guys are hypocrites and all
they're doing it just for money, like you're not doing
it for money. You're right, Give me a break.
Speaker 9 (01:54:40):
We got a solution here in the chat from one
mister Cardier to help the w n b A. He
believes the w n b A needs better pr He says,
they need more feminine uniforms, and they need a reality
TV show to draw women interests and show all the drama.
Speaker 1 (01:54:58):
All of Oftentimes the product. Oftentimes the product tells you
how good it is. And when you have all stars
missing shots at the rim, okay, that you're supposed to
make in warm ups and people are letting you do it,
that's an indictment on your product. First and foremost, I'm
not sure about the uniforms. What is it you would
like them to wear? I got idea. I'm not going
(01:55:23):
to tap into that either, but I'm just saying some
of them. You could understand why guys would want a
certain look, but there is as many you don't want
them wearing. A buddy of mine once said, hey, listen,
stretch pats are some of the greatest inventions ever made,
but depending on who's wearing them, it might be the worst.
Speaker 7 (01:55:41):
Remember what yoga pants crazed?
Speaker 4 (01:55:42):
That was Wow, wild time yoga pants still going on?
Speaker 5 (01:55:48):
That started when I was and I don't want to
say I started, but I started noticing that went out
that Michigan. I started the like the dress code, it
was just hoodies and like tights, hoodies and yoga pants.
Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
Yeah, I love college.
Speaker 10 (01:56:01):
I'm not touching all those.
Speaker 1 (01:56:04):
And then the reality show what what would that? What
would that solve?
Speaker 13 (01:56:09):
They already had it reality This is a reality This
is a reality show.
Speaker 5 (01:56:14):
Reality show was it would destroy it? Because right now,
like it's it's a sport. There is sport, and yeah
they do this caddy stuff and they do this, but
it's still sport with great athletes, and you can see
it as a sport. You start doing reality show like
these these are women. They live different lines and women
have a lot of things. You start watching that aspect
(01:56:36):
of it. And then if they're together, fight is real
world's other stuff Like now you're looking at it as
a reality show. This ain't even basketball. I'm not supporting
this product like reality show.
Speaker 9 (01:56:46):
For it would be dangerous that some people think it's
about the storylines.
Speaker 10 (01:56:50):
Though for me, I'm a hooper man.
Speaker 9 (01:56:52):
I just want to see good product, and I do
believe you put the good product out that you see
want the two handed dunk?
Speaker 10 (01:56:58):
Hey, you know what some people say things like.
Speaker 9 (01:57:00):
The rim and all that that just with all of
that type of stuff out there, But uh, I'm seeing
some stuff In the chat from Bigcom fifty one, he
believes that this what he's intimating is that things could
get worse than the BNBA because he believes that the
nil deals are going to keep getting bigger and bigger,
and they're gonna continue to be able to entice some
of these players to stay a little bit longer in college,
(01:57:22):
and then you got some of these other leagues at
the same time that way, but.
Speaker 1 (01:57:26):
They don't have they don't have. Yeah, those leagues don't
have the TV deals. And that's that's what drives a
lot of this number one. Number two, the n i L.
The ni L for women's basketball is minimal, okay, in college,
in college unless it is a Caitlin Clark like player.
Juju Watkins is an unhumliev player.
Speaker 4 (01:57:45):
Two million.
Speaker 1 (01:57:45):
She makes two million. She's a rare bird.
Speaker 6 (01:57:48):
Though.
Speaker 1 (01:57:49):
Okay, I don't know many schools. I don't know the
answer to this. Okay, I haven't done research on it.
I don't know many schools that are like, Okay, we
got to set aside a lot of money here for
our women's basketball program.
Speaker 5 (01:58:00):
Probably probably you, probably Yukon and shoot donas daily, South
Carolina and Yukon and South Carolina.
Speaker 1 (01:58:06):
And well USC because of Juju exactly. Yeah, but that
that's very rare. Like I say, I mean, when you're
looking at how many basketball programs there are, how many businesses.
I want you to think about this. They've been in
the w NBA has been in business for a long time.
Speaker 7 (01:58:20):
Okay, ninety seven.
Speaker 1 (01:58:22):
Right. Ok So, so you're you're looking at h you're
looking at well over twenty years, yeah, okay, and they
have never turned a profit. Now the numbers are up, okay,
the viewership is up. I mean it's a small It
started from a really poor spot.
Speaker 4 (01:58:37):
There's only eighteen okay, four seven teas. Yeah, right, but
what's that it starts It started it was only a
couple of teams.
Speaker 1 (01:58:44):
Yeah, teams. Yeah, and you know, sometimes I have I
believe leagues have a tendency to expand too quickly. Uh
the NHL did that, not to expand too quickly, but
they have too many teams.
Speaker 4 (01:58:55):
The West Coast.
Speaker 1 (01:58:57):
Yeah, I mean it's it's big now and there's a
lot of kids coming out of coming to hockey from
the West Coast. But the point is with with the WNBA,
how many they've been around for over twenty years, they've
never been profitable, even though their numbers are up, they're
you know now they're flying private instead of commercial, and
I flew those commercial with a lot of the shock teams.
(01:59:18):
How many companies for that extended period of time would
lose that much money. I mean they're losing all forty
million dollars forty million? Okay, how many companies stay in
business like that?
Speaker 7 (01:59:32):
None?
Speaker 5 (01:59:33):
And that's because they're partnered up. Yeah, it's the partner
situ way.
Speaker 4 (01:59:37):
So none.
Speaker 1 (01:59:38):
So if the NBA went, we're done, you guys are
on your own. Good luck to you. How do you
think they would survive? If at all?
Speaker 5 (01:59:45):
Who's the essential individual that wants ownership of this product?
Speaker 4 (01:59:49):
That's what you would be looking for.
Speaker 5 (01:59:50):
And if the answer is Jeff Bezos isn't picking up
his phone, My guy from Oracle, who's.
Speaker 4 (01:59:55):
You have been? Oh, he's not picking up?
Speaker 13 (01:59:58):
They need the guy from Savannah Bananas. Who's the guy
who bought the Savannah on the base.
Speaker 7 (02:00:03):
That's who they need.
Speaker 1 (02:00:04):
Yeah, but how long they need that? But that's the
Harlem Globe trust.
Speaker 5 (02:00:07):
How long?
Speaker 1 (02:00:08):
How long this is trying to be.
Speaker 13 (02:00:10):
A legitimate We cannot Could you say that that wouldn't
be better than what they have now?
Speaker 1 (02:00:15):
I think that eventually gets a little bit old for people.
Speaker 4 (02:00:20):
It's a gimmick. Sports can't be a gimmick.
Speaker 5 (02:00:22):
Not a legitimate sports exactly at the crux of it,
one of the main four can't be.
Speaker 7 (02:00:28):
You're still taking it serious, gotcha?
Speaker 1 (02:00:30):
You're not, no, no.
Speaker 7 (02:00:32):
Who bought the shirts, y'all y'all not making money who
bought the shirts.
Speaker 13 (02:00:37):
I'm just the whole thing is a joke to me
now now everything is it's just it's it's literally it's
on reality TV show to me.
Speaker 7 (02:00:43):
Now, I'm not thinking it's.
Speaker 1 (02:00:46):
A joke to you now when you say now, is
it because of what just took place over the weekend or.
Speaker 13 (02:00:51):
Over the years since Kaitlyn Carr came in. I was
gonna give it a shot. When Kaitlyn Carr came in
and then they treated look what was transpires.
Speaker 1 (02:00:58):
The treatment of one of they're superstars.
Speaker 7 (02:01:01):
The superstar.
Speaker 13 (02:01:02):
Yeah, how how between that all the caddiness this Like
the other day plumb just randomly said all of that.
I'm just sick of when we already have better products.
I'm just done with it.
Speaker 1 (02:01:10):
Yeah, what's the better product? The NBA, the NCAA. So
you're you're talking about basketball products exactly, Okay, you.
Speaker 13 (02:01:18):
Want to compare it to a sport like, yeah, I
feel and not was the US. It's why they don't
have the same ratings. It's it's gameplay.
Speaker 7 (02:01:25):
At the end of the.
Speaker 1 (02:01:27):
Speaking of the NBA, there was an article out recently
that ranked the front offices of the National Basketball Association.
Oklahoma City was number one. That's easy. Okay, where do
you think the Pistons ranked?
Speaker 4 (02:01:43):
I know the answer, Oh you do know.
Speaker 5 (02:01:45):
But if I if I did not know the answer,
I would have guessed somewhere between.
Speaker 1 (02:01:53):
Yeah, eighteen to five. Okay, well that's where they are.
I mean CBS Sports had them out as number nineteen.
Does that How much does it bother you? If at all?
Because it bothered me. None, It doesn't bother you at all.
Speaker 4 (02:02:06):
Okay, why would it bother me?
Speaker 5 (02:02:09):
Detroit Pistons have done nothing before last year. Obviously they
had done nothing. It has been in disarray, and then
you did change last year. You bring a Trajan land
and making head president basketball operations, You bring in a
couple players, and then eventually you get to the playoffs
and you have a chance to win a playoff game.
That makes you That pulls you from thirty two to
(02:02:32):
what because nineteen? And my estimation is fair.
Speaker 1 (02:02:36):
But these guys are these guys are doing You're basing
You're judging them off one year. I'm not suggesting they
should be top ten. So, but what they were able
to do in the turnaround building that roster. I think
the moves he made were phenomenal.
Speaker 5 (02:02:51):
Did you think they were phenomenal before or did you
think after?
Speaker 4 (02:02:54):
You watch the season and.
Speaker 5 (02:02:55):
Malik Beasley Lee's league in three pointers made essential well
not Lee's lead, but brace to pisss records for three
point is made.
Speaker 4 (02:03:02):
It has the season.
Speaker 5 (02:03:03):
Then he had Dennis Roder coming in and doing what
he always does in the.
Speaker 4 (02:03:07):
Playoffs, and.
Speaker 1 (02:03:10):
I mean to bring in Dennis Shruder I thought was
really clever. I was a big fan of the acquisition
of Tim Hardaway Junior and Tobias Harris. I'm not gonna
lie the eligue. Beasley barely moved my needle. It was fine, Okay,
He's he's been never been that high volume of a
three point shooter, right. The other two I thought was
(02:03:30):
really good and I loved, I absolutely loved. And it
doesn't get nearly enough the acquisition of JB. Bickerstaff bringing
him in. It's not always about players when we talk
about culture oftentimes, and that's what that team needed. It
needed a culture change, and what they did in the
off season before the season began to make sure that
culture was enhanced. I thought was really important. I'm not
(02:03:54):
suggesting they should be in the top ten, but tell
me why the Clippers are such a great organization and somebody,
I mean, they just holy crap. I mean, hi, Chris Paul,
come on back, you know, yeah, and they're ranked higher.
I don't know where they should be. I just know
there are certain teams Atlanta is ahead of them. Are
you serious?
Speaker 5 (02:04:13):
Atlanta was in Eastern Conference championship years and three years ago.
Speaker 9 (02:04:16):
But they've just been in like limbo ever since. We
followed these all dysfunction teams, and we were ab a
call that the Pistols were going to pass them this
year because of how their front office is at least
like this year and last year.
Speaker 10 (02:04:28):
Have handled things.
Speaker 9 (02:04:28):
And when you look at Trajan in particular, I wouldn't
say that they deserve to be top ten. I agree
with Breden when you say, you know what, they took
a big jump, and maybe it's people saying, you know what,
let's see you do it again. But if you just
look at the moves in a vacuum, I do believe
they deserve to.
Speaker 10 (02:04:42):
Be at least top half of the league.
Speaker 9 (02:04:43):
Trajan, the first move he did, we'll start to get
that front office together and got the money together. They
got the money people in that front office. The second
thing he did before you even got J. B. Bickerstaff
was even when got fred Vincent, it was showing that,
Like when we talked about the Alavilla stuff earlier, and
we talked about the coaches that were hired, these are
things that he was doing to put this organization in
the spot.
Speaker 1 (02:05:02):
Front half of the league. And you're saying top fifteen.
Speaker 10 (02:05:05):
Yeah, I think that.
Speaker 9 (02:05:06):
I think they deserve to be top fifteen. You look
at some of the teams that was just ahead of them.
You look at what Trajon did to come here and
get the right vets, put the right development staff around
the young players and in front of the front office.
I like it.
Speaker 4 (02:05:23):
Team that's different.
Speaker 1 (02:05:25):
That's different, honestly.
Speaker 5 (02:05:28):
Clippers, I understand, Like, look, the Clippers always let you
down if you're a Clippers fan, But realistically, Tyrone lose
a good coach. You look at the players that they
have their excuses, the players that I think you can
see that one the Atlanta Hawks, Yeah they've been in limbo,
but they win the Eastern Conference championship a couple of
years ago. Washington not so much. But it's year one.
(02:05:50):
That's why the question was. Answer is no, because it's nineteen.
They had them twenty eight. I'm pissed if they had
them twenty four, I don't know. Standing twenty one, I
can argue eight nineteen. I'm like, I agree with that one.
You're I'm not pissed.
Speaker 1 (02:06:05):
They're in the realm. They're a realm where I thought
they would be, somewhere in the neighborhood of sixteen seventeen eighteen.
When I see a couple of teams that they're ranked.
Speaker 4 (02:06:12):
Behind Wizards, that's dying, Bob, that's dying. So we fired,
did you?
Speaker 1 (02:06:17):
Yeah, somebody's getting paid under the table for that ranking
right there. There's no doubt about all right. Great stuff
