Speaker 2 (00:52):
Here's what I love most about the Braillen Edwards Show
Monday through Friday, two to four. Honestly, most of the
best stuff we have is before we come on camera.
So the camaraderie's fantastic. I love that. As an old guy,
I get frustrated with interruptions, but I'll deal with that.
I love the banter back and forth. Welcome everybody, Glad

(01:15):
you're with us on a trade deadline Thursday, and maybe
more importantly, a Lion's preseason.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Lions, we made.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
What you look forward to? That's that's a simple question. Yeah,
if you look forward to the trade deadline or the
first preseason game of four that you know most of
your guys ain't playing.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
You know what's funny is with either of them, you
don't see the result until later. Literally, you don't see
the result until later. But I will say the NFL,
I would say the preseason, real listening baseball is gonna
be what it is, regardless of the moves that you make.
And we'll get into that on those sheeps may be excited,
maybe not, but we'll get into that.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
So much so we've got one shoe on the table,
one shoe on our feet.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
But you know what this is one foot in what.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
Much like the Tigers?

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Did you know? Came in ready already?

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Let me tell you something. I call him Robin Hood.

Speaker 4 (02:24):
Just let him go like hawkey yep, all right, speaking
of howkey, I got something I'm so excited about. Man,
I got so excited about this little Marvel Lions comparison.
But shoes on the desk because he just came out, man,
and you know as a kid these shoes that I wanted,
and it took me forty two years. But here they are, here,
they are nonetheless.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
All right, that's what's up? Good job? What are they?

Speaker 6 (02:50):
Jordan rare?

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Okay? Why did it take you forty two years?

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Or my mom didn't play that? My mom went mine
Jordan's my mom, my mom, my dad, they weren't.

Speaker 6 (02:58):
It's crazy because football.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
He's a really good cook. Just want to kiss it
right now.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
Those were investments.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
The gloves, the cleats, the paths, intments. But my mom
won't playing at the Boston Jordan's. So all the Jordans
that came out back in the day when I couldn't
get him, ladies and gentlemen, I'm on that path, if
you will.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
One of my sons one time was cleaning his room
and he had a Michael Jordan Jersey on the floor.

Speaker 7 (03:25):
M hmm.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
And I literally walked in. I said, Hey, what the
hell is that? He said, what I said, what the
hell is that?

Speaker 6 (03:35):
Get it out of my hard earned money on the floor.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Get it out of here. I want nothing to do
with it. So literally made him take it. I threw
that damn thing away.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
I'll pay because of the rivalry back then for.

Speaker 2 (03:46):
A number of reasons, the Bulls and Jordan himself absolutely
one hundred percent. If you're gonna sit there and tell
the world that the Pistons are not good for the
game of basketball, screw you. Never forgive. It doesn't mean
I can't say he's the greatest player of all time.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
This man, I get fired up.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
He is the greatest player of all time. I can
admit that. That doesn't mean I gotta like him, Okay,
but I sure as hell admire how good of a
basketball player he was. But saying that pissed me off
and pisses me off to this day about the Pistol.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
That energy is always interesting in terms of, you know,
Isaiah Thomas, welcome Michael Jordan into Chicago with open arm care,
had him at the house, had him at the crib,
introduced to the neighborhood, like the those the elements, if
you would, he put the elements on Jordan, so Jordan
never had to worry about all it bes. I just
don't like how that relationship turned out. You can say

(04:45):
what you want to on the court and who got
left off the team, and we know what happened. I
don't like how he forgot about that part, Like if
I sit down with your moms, like if you open
up your neighborhood to me, if you open up your
house to me, your home, your family, your parents, We're
always going to be connected as family because you didn't
have to do something that's right. That's the one thing

(05:05):
about that relationship where I don't know the situation, but
I know Michael Jordan is dead ass wrong. That man
opened up his home to you and then it turned
on like it did. So I just never liked that
aspect of it. I still like Jordan. I still had
Jordan Jersey, but I definitely understand what you mean.

Speaker 2 (05:19):
That is so well said, Uh, bravo to you real
quick before and we're going to dive into it because
there these are the things that people want to talk about.
For sure. I will say this, How how many times
do you, guys, I don't care if you're going for gas,
or you're going in the grocery store or you're how
many times do you pick the wrong lane?

Speaker 7 (05:37):
Oh? A lot?

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I pick it literally every single I was at the
grocery store before I came here today. Two people deep
in one the other one people one person deep and
they're pain and it's still the wrong lane. You know why,
because Grandpa could not use couldn't use it, and somebody's

(06:02):
his grandma. Grandpa's advanced anyway, he's got it, and he's
trying to tap. He's trying to taps, not tap it.
He's trying to install, won't install. Finally had to, you know,
pull out the cash and get exact seventy eight sixty
right on the note. Of course, Meanwhile, they're flying through,
you know, like they've got a speed pass next to me,

(06:24):
and I'm thinking to myself, this is unbelievable. It doesn't
matter how many people are in link. I picked the
wrong lane every time.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Two things thing once, see, I misinterpreted that. I thought
you were talking about the side, and I had a
funny joke. Guy was gonna say, well, when I'm on
that gas, I tend to forget what's that My gas
hang is on a little a little double in times.
But there you go, somebody, there's an arrow, an arrow.
There's also it was a high contrast. I was saying,

(06:52):
gas and gas.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Richie's trying to be the best.

Speaker 8 (06:54):
I've been in the car with multiple people who didn't
know that was an arrow.

Speaker 2 (06:58):
There was an arrow.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
Let you know what side it's on.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
That's the only reason you're talking about on the game
on the gas.

Speaker 4 (07:03):
Yeah, I was cracking a joke about behind the gas.
But maybe that was a way of slowing down. And
how much like how much time did you lose and
waiting for a round five?

Speaker 6 (07:21):
Did you lose much where you're late?

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Uh, it's an excellent point. It's probably about I would guess,
you know, between three and a half to four minutes
or so, and you're one hundred percent right. I actually
thought about that. Maybe this is a sign for me
to just relax from maybe you needed a break, okay,
instead of rushing passing everybody and hustling out to my car.

(07:45):
Where am I hurrying to go? Oh, I'm hurrying to
come to the Brelan Edwards show.

Speaker 7 (07:48):
Of course.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
But you're absolutely right.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Happened last week when I was rushing, trying to rush
in the house to use the restroom, crack my chin.
So I'm very much on the side of patience at
least in the last week. How's that healing? By the way,
sailing fine? So them on the inside of your your
mouth you have?

Speaker 7 (08:06):
Is it?

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Fola you have fola and that basically is the agent
that works to heal so fast inside. Yeah, so I
just put a little bit of rints in there, and
the human body deal with the human body does the
greatest machine in the world.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Let's let's dive into some baseball real quick, and then
I'm really excited to talk football with you. We've got
a top ten list for Braylan Edwards coming up here.

Speaker 7 (08:31):
Elite, top ten, elite.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
He thinks it's it is it is you peaked.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
I peaked. You have to but.

Speaker 7 (08:42):
We work on the graphics, so we have to see.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
It's gonna be fun.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Good job, Mark McGuire. We appreciate that it was.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
It was legal at the time.

Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yeah, okay, all right, all right, we we digressed Barry Box.
So my question to a lot of people with with
the with the trade deadline right now, are you satisfied?
It's a simple yes or no. Did Scott Harris and
we still have till six o'clock okay the time of
the sentering, we still have under four hours. But as

(09:14):
of right now, knowing what you thought they had to address,
are you satisfied with what they've done?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
I was gonna ask you effectively.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
That's a tough question.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Yeah, like what is the cooking effectively?

Speaker 6 (09:30):
Satisfied may be a strong word.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Okay, you're unmoved. I'm unmoved, but I'm okay. I think
at the end of the day, they added four pictures,
three leaders.

Speaker 6 (09:40):
You added the starter.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Like, your best thing that you've done in the last
two years is pitching. So when they target the bullpen,
you try to make what you do better. You tried
to make that even better.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
So you did that.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
You didn't get the bat yet. Like you said, you
got just under four hours left. At this point, you
believe in the team, and if that's the case, you
made what you do better, which is pitching. I'm okay
with it. I'm not satisfied, but I'm okay.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
Here's what I battle against myself with. I know they've
been good enough to be one of the best teams
in the American League, but that's while other teams stood packed.
Now that Seattle has added, Houston has added, the Yankees
have added, the Blue Jays have added, can we really
say that despite what Detroit has added. So, Kg's a

(10:26):
big Chris Paddock guy. It was like the number one
starting pitcher. He wanted. He got all right, all fired up.
It's like, Sep, did you see what he did last night?
I'm like, against an Arizona team, Sure, go right ahead,
toot that horn. Forget Randy Dobnick my god, Yeah, Okay,

(10:47):
Raphael Montero postseason numbers are good. Yeah, fifteen career postseason
not bad. Okay, Championship two and a half, there's a
lot of good. A lot of guys have won champion.
It doesn't mean I want him right now, but he
knows what it takes. Paul C. Walt does nothing for me,

(11:07):
and I like Kyle Finnegan a lot. I would have
rather had David Bednar or Pete Fairbanks, but I like
Kyle Finnegan a lot. I think you've got to have
guys at the back end of your bullpen who have
swing and miss. He doesn't have as much as he
had a couple of years ago, but I do like him.
He's got twenty saves. I think he's a reliable guy.

(11:28):
He makes me more comfortable than some of the guys
they have coming out of their bullpen. It lengthens their bullpen,
so that's great. The right handed bat is still a
bit of an issue. But most people feel like, well,
you're getting Carry Carpenter back, You're getting certain guys you
think are going to perform at a certain level. I

(11:49):
think that's a risky expectation. Maybe they do something, probably
not with a bat unless it's Marcello Zuna, which would
be fantastic. Then you would say it's probably a B
plus trade deadline for Scott Harris. But as of right now,
it's not a B plus. Right What would you give it?

Speaker 6 (12:09):
Yeah, what would you give it? And what would it
What would it take to move you?

Speaker 4 (12:12):
I think that's the biggest thing we would in Suarez
as we get in, and maybe that's why I moved.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
That's through ass he knew wouldn't come here, but.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
Yeah, what would it take to Well, he said he
wanted to come here, and everybody was all, you know,
giddy over that, but they forget it the All Star break.
He also said Seattle feels like home, so he's going
to Seattle, and Seattle had to give up, well, Seattle
had to give up something. They had to give up
quite a bit, so I you know, I give Seattle
some credit. They feel like with their additions. Josh Naylor

(12:41):
included that and their healthy arms, that they're going to
be a contender. Okay, they gave up three prospects. None
of them are shattering. It's not the Phillies trade. Phillies
gave up two top one hundred prospects. Now, yaw Duran
is a guy who's twenty seven, has two more years

(13:03):
of control. That's a big deal. He was gonna cost
so it was gonna cost you. But he's still in
the prime. What the Tigers have done, you know, Finn
against thirty four, it's gonna be the end of his
end of he's getting up there in years. All Right,
Seawall does nothing for me. I doubt Chris Paddock is
back here, but we'll see. That would surprise me? Would

(13:27):
you have given up the equivalent? Can't always play this
game of your nine, sixteen and seventeen prospects for a
guy like Aohanneo Suarez who has thirty six bombs in
an ops of eight ninety eight, and when people sit
there and go, I don't think he's gonna continue in
this row he said close to fifty homers in his career,
who says he's not gonna continue.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Says the first time that they've had two players on
the same team with thirty five or more bombs hitting
into August.

Speaker 6 (13:54):
Since Mickey Mannal and Roger Maris.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Long, Yeah, since since the Yankee is sixty Yeah, the
sixty one Yankees, I believe. Yeah, So I mean, and
people are wondering Ninus Max Anderson. Yeah, he plays, He's
a second baseman. They've got a lot of middle infielders.
He's at double A. Sixteen is Joseph Montalvo KG you
know who that is? Absolutely not And Dylan Smith, who

(14:20):
we've seen at the major league level and have been
so impressed that they sent him back down. So I'm
not saying that's what would have gotten Johannil Suarez. And
I'm not calling Scott Harris out on this, but what
he's done so far to me has not necessarily moved
the needle. I think for a lot of Tigers.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Fans, I agree, and I feel like this is more
of what happened last year. Last year, we know that
they did not believe and what that team was. They
just ran the guys out there. We'll see what happens
in the rest is history, and so they didn't necessarily
feel the need to move this year. He added a
couple of key piece in Laboratria has a couple of pitchures,
but you didn't necessarily go for the moon. They really
want to see what his young ball club has. They
really feel like they're way ahead of the schedule from

(14:58):
where they were two years ago, and I feel like
they're continuing that energy. And that's what this feels like.
It feels like no matter what we want or what
we think the move should or could be, they're just like,
you know what, we're ahead of schedule.

Speaker 6 (15:08):
We believe in where we are was still in this space.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Just ride this thing and get a couple of pitcheons
and see how far we can ride it out.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Yeah, I look, I agree with this man when we
talk about protecting your top five prospects or in top five,
because they're all top one hundred. I'm not suggesting, but
I do believe there were and I don't know this
for a fact, but there's got to be deals based
on what we've seen deals done, there had to be
some deals out there where you wouldn't have to surrender

(15:35):
your top one hundred prospects. If he wants to hold
tight to that vest I support him in that regard,
but I think there were other opportunities where you could
have surrendered other members within your organization. Max Anderson's a
really good point to upgrade your team right now. I
think a lot of it has to do with whether
or not people feel like this team is ready to

(15:58):
win right now. My response that is always this, how
wide open is Major League Baseball? Most people would tell
you it's wide open.

Speaker 7 (16:07):
It is.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
I don't think it's as wide open as you would
think it is, but in terms of the American League
is definitely open for the American League. Now National League
is a little bit more of a conversation. But what
I wanted to ask Bray and u Ship do you
think that Scott Harris is working around certain parameters because
that would kind of explain the strategy and you know

(16:28):
them kind of low cost effective moves trying to.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Do it by financial Say, do you think he got
marching orders from his owner that you're not going to
spend money? That's what you're asking.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
Essentially, Do you think that's a factor and why factor?

Speaker 7 (16:42):
No question?

Speaker 4 (16:43):
I think I definitely agree with you that I think
it's the factor. I think when people always forget that
there are two teams that are owned by the same entity,
and therefore money is going out to two different franchises
in the city, ones going to the Red Wings, one
going to the Tigers, So there's not as much cash
that you can move around. So yeah, I think it
is and kept to.

Speaker 7 (17:00):
A certain extent.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
So if that's the case, then why And I get it.
It's not the names that people want not understand that.
But when you look at this in totality, everybody said
we need multiple relief pitchers. Everybody said that we need
a bat. Okay, cool. They essentially went out and did
everything we wanted them to do, minus the bat. Now
there's still time for that and hopefully they do get

(17:21):
a bat with some popping here, preferably right handed. But
when you look at the relief and starting pitching situation,
they did it by volume. They went and got a
lot of low cost effective guys with good stuff that
maybe you know are older, or you know maybe that
Chris Fetterer can can make a reclamation project and you
might get one or two guys out of those four

(17:42):
or five that could work going forward. I don't think
it's the worst strategy in the world. Like he attacked
needs that were absolutely obvious on this team. It's just
not the name.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
I think a lot depends on. That's a very generic
comment when you say they needed starting pitching, bullpen health.
That's why I always tell Peop be more specific, please,
because that's like saying you need a wide receiver when
it's a slot, or you need a big receiver like Braylen.
You're not playing two slots.

Speaker 7 (18:10):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
So for me, I was very specific. I wanted a
front end starter. There's a difference between that and Chris Paddock.
I wanted a back end reliever. There's a difference between
Montero and seawalld and a back end reliever. Now that
you got it in Kyle Finnick, great, Okay, so I
would AJ doesn't believe in that stuff. He's going to

(18:31):
use them all. That's cool too. I think the Tigers
were banking on guys coming back, getting healthy and contributing
more so than the other way around. I could be wrong,
but I do believe that was the factor as much
as anything else, and the fact that they held tight
to their vest about certain guys. Every team that is

(18:52):
kicking the proverbial tires with the Tigers, or that the
Tigers are, they are asking about the same guys they're
getting shut down right away. Yeah, Detroit has the number
one farm system in Major League Baseball. It's not just
because of the top five guys, it's because of depth too.
All I'm saying is I wanted somebody a little bit

(19:13):
more impactful from a starting pitcher standpoint, and I would
have loved the right handed stick. I wouldn't get I
wouldn't give up high prospects for rentals. But there were
guys out there who are not rentals. I think you
could have acquired for by still protecting your top one hundred.

Speaker 5 (19:29):
And I can get that point. I'm just at the
point where you were really gonna get a savior at
the trade deadline. Could there have been some moves made.
You can obviously debate that. But with this strategy, I
think that I don't. I don't think it's the worst
strategy in the world, because when you look at how
they did it last year, they lacked variety. Pitching chaos
was the big word that they use. You know, you

(19:51):
had a lot of just mix of relievers and you
had one starting pitcher and you had to do that
out of necessity. This year, it looks a little bit different.
I think you'll have more options of guys that hopefully
will be healthy around that time, and you can interchange parts.
We all know a J. Hinch is great at playing
the matchups. I think this works right into his favor
and you go with the hot hand right now.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
Now, most you say it's hopefully that that's all we
got to offer, but that you could have had more
to offer. That's all you have to offer now because
you didn't make the deal that I wanted. True, that's my.

Speaker 9 (20:24):
Point, and that's kind of where I'm at too. That's
all I was like, I wonder what he's cooking. I
was waiting to see exactly what you guys felt about this,
because Scott Harris's own words was what aggressive. And I
know that things changed as it relates to how the
rotation has kind of falling off and and how you
know the team overall, we've seen him go through a
little bit of a slump here. I still thought though,
that what we would have seen at the trade deadline

(20:46):
would have been something that was aggressive to.

Speaker 2 (20:48):
The Remind me with the aggressive, Remind me with that word.
I thought he said we weren't going to do anything.
In so many words, earth shattering. I thought that was
reached it a.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Little bit later, but early on in this early on
when the.

Speaker 9 (21:00):
Tigers were hot, probably about forty games in, he said,
we're going to be aggressive at the trade deadline. And
obviously when things started changing, that changes up what you're
able to do. Yeah, but I look at what he
said now, it's like, where are they at now in
the scheme of not where these moves good moves, but
where are they right now the scheme of that same
world series expectation this year and not just the long time.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
I think the other thing, Kool Lad is so many
people feel like, whether it's true or not, that you
have a And I hate this phrase, but I'll use
it because everybody's used it a window with Terrek Schouble.
The assumption and oftentimes that's very unfair. It's it's scary
to use assumption. But the assumption is that you're not
going to have him much longer, so you've got to

(21:40):
go for it right now. That's right now, That's what
I'm talking about. I don't I don't think as a
general manager you can do that because you believe that
you can re sign him.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
Sometimes as a general manager, I believe in that front
office position. Time you overplay your hand. I think sometimes
you overplay your hand. I think that maybe situation that
could have happened in this this particular instance. You think
of the season, you start the season, will be aggressive
at the trade deadline, et cetera. We're good, we have this, leave,
we're ahead. You're looking at what it is. It's the Tigers,
it's the it's the Yankees. This is what the teams

(22:13):
that you're comparing yourself to. You'll win your division. We'll
worry about the Yankees down the line. Up here come
the blue Jays up here, come to Mariners. Up the
Mariners passes up. The blue Jays are now interested in
here's astro interesting the same thing. I think you waited
too late, and now they're much more excitable options with
much more money, willing to give up more.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
Now you put yourself behind a ball.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
I think sometimes when you be the smartest person in
a row, come back to bite you.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
I think when they were the first team to reach
fifty forty fifty sixty, most people would say they're good
enough to win the World Series. Now I would ask
those same people, are they good enough to win the
World Series.

Speaker 5 (22:53):
That's why Peck, but that's why people like me was
kind of ahead of the curve. I never thought this
was a World Series team, although they got off to
this great start and everything. I say alcs or bus
because last year they could have absolutely made it if
Trek Scougle had it just you know, he gave.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
You all he had and he had nothing else left.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
But ultimately, I feel like where this team is now
twenty twenty six offseason, I would feel more like the
general police.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, like, let's go all in in that year.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
This year, it was kind of unexpected what the Tigers
are doing right now.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
It's it's unexpected after the way they finished last year.
It's unexpected.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
Yeah, it's unexpected that they would get to sixty wins
before any other team in the MLB.

Speaker 3 (23:34):
Sure nobody saw the best team and all of the.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Lead, but leading the division and being a threat if
you win the division, you're a threat to win an
American League championships. Okay, so yeah, I don't think it's
a surprise. What makes twenty twenty six, What makes the
off season more important this coming off season than the
time that they're having right now.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
Because that's the actual last year of schoobl and that
is also another opportunity to improve your team from where
it is now. There's not much you can do at
a trade deadline this late in the season. So that's
why I'm not sweating. Tell Seattle that, yeah, and I
hear you. But once again, if we agree that he's
working under certain parameters, he's done what he can do
under the parameters he was given. And I think while

(24:19):
it's not the best, it's serviceable enough to be like, Okay,
I'm good if you can get it back.

Speaker 3 (24:23):
As a fan, I'm good, and let's just see where
the chips fall.

Speaker 6 (24:26):
That's what is it fair to add to Kg's part?

Speaker 4 (24:29):
Is it fair to add still trying to figure out
who this team was in twenty twenty five?

Speaker 5 (24:33):
Thank you, it's a part of that.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
How long is it gonna take you to figure it out?

Speaker 4 (24:38):
I think now you know, I think now you know, so.

Speaker 2 (24:41):
The second best record in the American League, now you
know you're and you're saying, let the chips fall where
they may.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
I mean, we didn't know two weeks ago. Everybody was
freaking out about this two week stretch by the Tigers
when they were still one of the better teams in baseball.
I get it to a certain degree, but you what
you have gone off on going what you have so
far is okay, a couple of years of them being
bad and a year and a half of them being good.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
We still don't.

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Truly know what what the core pieces of his team are.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Like, we know that would concern me if you don't
know what the core pieces of the team are. You know,
I would use Baltimore as an example and how quickly
things can change. Okay, I'm sure Baltimore wishes they had
done something last year. Two years ago they won the
American leaguees, last year they made the playoffs. Neither time
they made the World Series. They might be kicking themselves
in their own ass, wondering what the hell should we
have done? We should have done more? Right now?

Speaker 3 (25:34):
They thought they had it.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Okay, they thought they had it come and their prospects
are a hell of a lot better than Detroit's prospects. Okay,
So what you're saying is this offseason you're hoping for
filling the blank, and you think this is the most
important year because school is going to be going into
his final year scool, You might be screwed because every
single team's like, I'm not trading for him. He's going
to be a free agent.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
That's true.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
Okay, are they really trying to trade him at this point?
You don't wait it too long to trade him. I
would have did that last last trade deadline.

Speaker 9 (26:01):
But that's where that's where I think this thing is
starting to become something that you question just a little
bit more. You're scrutinize this a little bit more because
as much as we believe they can do something this offseason,
other teams are also out there trying to do stuff
this offseason too, just like we saw the trade deadline,
And that's the part of it. That's like other teams
are not just waiting by saying, you know, what is
the Tiger's time right now to go out there and win.

(26:23):
The last time they did that, the Tigers almost had it.
Probably had a generational lineup, pitching staff, had generational bats,
just didn't get it done. They're not trying to let
Detroit just waltz back in there and all of a
sudden you see them get hot over the last part
of last season.

Speaker 3 (26:38):
Best team in baseball in those last forty games. The
rest of.

Speaker 9 (26:40):
Baseball was like they saw this half. If the Tigers
are still trying to figure it out. The rest of yeah,
other teams at the trade deadline, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
We get caught, little silos man. Because if you don't
think Boston's gonna try to improve, Toronto feels pretty good.
New York's gonna try to improve, Baltimore is gonna try
and respond, Texas is gonna respond. Obviously, Houston wants to
where they are. Do you try? It's not the only
team that's gonna go into twenty twenty six and go,
you know what, we're pretty close. There's a lot of
teams to feel like they're pretty damn close.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
But who's fault is that? Ultimately, that's only your owner.
You gotta spend money eventually in this game, until they
put a salary cap in place, you have to compete,
and the only way to compete is to spend at
some point. So that's why I look at the twenty
twenty six off season and what they've done this year
and what they will eventually do, and it's like, Okay,
what are you it's time for?

Speaker 2 (27:25):
You don't disagree with any of that, and I know
we got to hit a break, but here's the deal.
At this stage in the trade deadline, it's not about
spending money. It's tell about losing prospects. I get you, Okay,
that's the difference. You can blame it on the owner
and that's fine. But in this situation, when you're at
the trade deadline, that owner is telling the GM in

(27:46):
so many words, go do what you gotta do, because
a lot of these guys, hey, you hang up square
is how much more money you're gonna spend you're willing
to spend the rest of Rafeil Montero's contract. That was
That was I mean, come on, that was surprised to me.
It's about prospects. You know what's really good prospects when
you try to save some type of situation, the legal

(28:07):
situation that might be in. Ben Johnson's the guy who's
gonna save you.

Speaker 4 (28:11):

So love that. Thank you for that. I hope everybody
is good with that and understands where we're coming from.

(32:25):
All right, let's get to some football because the Lions
open tonight against the Chargers. Yesterday we talked about the
fact that Tate Ratledge is not going to play, Tyler
Williams is not going to play. Braylan give me the
guys you're looking forward to seeing most tonight and why
and these pleast before you do, can we not use

(32:47):
Hendon Hooker as the as the flip and answer, because
that's low hanging fruit the hooker ball. First of all,
he's not starting, Jared Gossa, all right, Jered gos is
not gonna play. All reports of Kyle Allen starting, but
Jered Go's not gonna play. So who else are we
gonna watch? Of course, we're gonna be watching quarter that

(33:09):
is a given. I want somebody off your proverbial beaten
path on who you're going to watch and what you're
looking forward to seeing.

Speaker 4 (33:17):
Most thank you for telling me who I can't say.

Speaker 6 (33:25):
All of a sudden, but I wasn't gonna say him anyway.
And signed.

Speaker 4 (33:28):
Always get excited about preseason, man, especially like the start
of it. Like my first preseason game was the second
game of the preseason. I held out, shocking, you know
what it is, but first preseason game it.

Speaker 6 (33:39):
Was here in Detroit.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
What's it really?

Speaker 4 (33:42):
First preseason game I ever played. It was in Detroit
andown he's looking up.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
I'm not gonna looking up. I don't want to get
too geeky here me fair. Can you take us through
the emotional slip that stay at home or did you
stay in the team hotel? What was that like?

Speaker 4 (34:03):
It was crazy? You know, obviously got drafted two thousand
and five. This is two thousand and five.

Speaker 6 (34:07):
I held out.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
So when I signed my contract, it was the day
of the first preseason.

Speaker 6 (34:11):
Gave me to Giants.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
They didn't let me play in that fast forward in
Detroit the following week.

Speaker 7 (34:16):
It was great.

Speaker 6 (34:17):
Had fifty tickets.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
I didn't stay with my family, but you know, went
over to the house, had everybody saw everybody saw everybody
in the preseason, it was it was the nerves were
that and I've done this a million times, you know,
coming from Michigan, but now it was a first set
of nerves. It's like starting over again, if you will.
And then there's a lot of pressure on you, being
a number one pick or being a first round draft pick,

(34:39):
you know, third pick of all, there's a lot of
pressure on you. So first play called a slant, kind
of shaking the cole webs off. My next series, they
threw a big post over the middlefield.

Speaker 6 (34:50):
R W mcquarters he was.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Checking me and it was a bad throw. R W
Quarters made a great play. He got an interception. So
now I'm like, damn and already had somebody take an
interception from me.

Speaker 7 (35:02):
Already, this is not what it is.

Speaker 4 (35:03):
I'm already thinking in my head about kind of what's
the thought process going to be, Oh, he's not this,
he's not that that. That pressure is real, because that
was my thought process in that game. After that interception.
It wasn't the next play, it wasn't I'll get it back.

Speaker 7 (35:16):
It was damn.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
I wonder if they wondered if they would have got
somebody else. So fast forward, they take the guy, they
take the starters out, second team guys out, and they're
playing undrafted free agents the four guys. And we get
in this situation where we're down in the red zone
and I look up at Romeo Crenell. It's about two
minutes left. I said, coach, put me back in. No, no, no,
we can't put you in Berlin. I'm like, put me

(35:38):
back in. No. Finally, now it's about forty seconds left
and they're on the five yard line. I go to
him again, Coach, put me in the game. He puts
me in.

Speaker 6 (35:48):
They throw fade on Mike eccles.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
I want to say, out of Wisconsin, who I already
knew caught it. Fade touchdown back the end zone, and
you know it kind of started the journey.

Speaker 6 (35:58):
So it started hearing Detroit.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
That's all circle. I think from that full Silker moment.
The only cooler story might be the Jerome Bettess play
his final game in the Super Bowl. I was in
Detroit so hurt.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
He couldn't get that in zone. Yeah, because they tried, Yeah,
they tried to get him in.

Speaker 2 (36:13):
I was on the field for that and I saw there.
I saw a lot of guys who left the Lions
and went to Pittsburgh, as you know, Kevin Colbert for example, Yeah,
and Charlie. So had have had a chance to know
those guys for a long time. And I remember Kevin
Colbert comes out of the tunnel as you know, the

(36:35):
confetti's and he saw me and I said, Kevin, I
am so happy for you and got a hug. I
was able to talk to Jerome bettis not that he
knows me, but just congratulate him. It was an awesome
feeling for them. That must have been as close as
you could get at least early in your career for
that part.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Coolest thing is I always, I asked Jerome, I told
you I grew up around Jerome wrong with my big brothers,
my og. I appreciate him and all the things he
did and continues to do. I asked him that question.
I said that had his Hall of Fame career to
finally get a chance to play in the dance and
to not score. And another running back is MVP like
Willie Parker was the MVP of the game. I'm not correct.

(37:15):
I think so Willie Parker or hines Ward.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
Yeah, yeah, now that you see, I didn't. I didn't
think it was heines Ward just because Ben Roethlisberger was
so bad. He was war.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
I think it's either Willie Parker or hines Ward because
Antoine Rendelels touchdown he threw was two hins Ward and
I think heins had one hundred and fifty that game.

Speaker 6 (37:36):
It's heins of Willie Parker.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Maybe it was okay, but either way, So what did
what did Jerome say?

Speaker 4 (37:41):
Jerome's all team got man Dermes all team? He said, man,
I don't care about that man I got I mean,
I got it. Mean, so he didn't carry what the
team got like and I know he would tell me
to real I know he was like massive bs or
is that he said it does not care.

Speaker 7 (37:58):
I got a ring.

Speaker 4 (37:59):
It was that boys time and I just stepped my
old ass. He told me he step on. He didn't
say like that.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
I mean, I felt a lot of disappointment for the
same reason. There it is, Oh that's nice.

Speaker 4 (38:13):
That's that was in two thousand and ten when I
played for the Jets.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Right, that was also a touchdown that was that was
still pretty.

Speaker 6 (38:22):
That's a good gat I like for phild What can
I say?

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Yeah, look nice concentration. That guy's all over you too.

Speaker 4 (38:27):
Oh here, here is here is a this is you
see the two on the front of the twenty seven.
He went to uh he went to Missouri. Name starts
with the I find though, I found O Smith. Okay,
I think it's yeah.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
It is uniforms suck. Sorry.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
This gives you an insight on how fast they switched.

Speaker 6 (38:51):
They switched on. You want the University of Michigan.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
Okay, this is a good story. Went to the University of Michigan.
This is in Detroit. Tons of Michigan fans at this
place that for the Lions.

Speaker 7 (39:00):
Blah blah blah.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
I had gotten a d u y earlier this season.
We come here, this is home. I've been getting it
on the road every team we played. They got the
signs out. Brailen's this booze and that blah blah blah.
All right, cool, it's fans.

Speaker 2 (39:16):
B o o s not b o z e. You're saying, no.

Speaker 7 (39:19):
Boos b o z e.

Speaker 6 (39:21):
This is d u y.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Like they're not drinking at the game.

Speaker 4 (39:25):
People, Well, they're booing but they're boing and using booze
and all these kind of jokes and themes. And I
don't mind. On the road, Miami, Pittsburgh is with it.
Where in Detroit, I'm from here. I was born around
the corner here. In fact, where I was born is
your provider. It's Henry Ford. I went to Michigan. I said,
the very people that had the science had on Michigan stuff.

(39:48):
And it's like get it, get it, get it, Uber,
you're drunk and blah blah blah. I'm like, damn, this
is my own.

Speaker 6 (39:54):
I said, I'm so paul nah. But it was cool.

Speaker 4 (39:57):
But long story short, I'm a receiver. I'm looking forward
to the receivers. I want to see what Isaac Tesla has.
We've been talking about this kid since they drafted him.
You're talking about the creativity, excitement, the upside, like what
do you have? And this is gonna be one of
those moments where they're gonna allow him some rope, They're
gonna allow him to get out there, they're gonna allow
him to get active, they allow him to make some plays.
Let's see what you have, because this is when you

(40:20):
see if somebody has the ability to help you earlier,
help you this year because if he goes out there
and he has some fun, like I told you the
Victor Cruz story, now you play him again in the
second preseason game. Now you start to see him taking
some second team reps in week three and week two.
Excited to see him as well as Dominic Levette out
of Georgia. Or boy has hands, he's got speed's got

(40:43):
some looseness and he like him in returns to Khalif Raymond,
you better watch out. And then I think I want
to see Giovanni Maneau as much as made about ther
move going to reach and get him last year. The
big project, well, the big project will be starting tonight.
And offensive line is something that we are paying your
close attention to give me j Ivonni Maneu and last

(41:03):
but not least, I think it's the defensive lineman. And
everybody's curious about right now. We talked about him yesterday.
Stop watching my film. I think A and Hudson telling telling.

Speaker 2 (41:12):
I was saying, I'm interested in Dan Jackson too. I
think he's by all reports, he's got some making up
to do. If you want to make this team, you're
gonna have to play and he's gonna get like like
you said, I'm looking forward to watching the guys who
have a long rope. They're gonna get a lot of reps.
There's gonna be a lot of snaps. They've got a
chance to make an impact.

Speaker 7 (41:32):
Here.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
You got four preseason games, and I get that not
every single one is gonna be judged based on your film.
In this you're probably gonna get fit. You're probably gonna
get judged just as much on the film. During your
scrimmage against your ones, Dan Jackson, then you probably would
against the Chargers twos, threes and fours tonight.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
Is that a fair assessment in terms of when they're
impacting their in terms of.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
The Lions looking at what if they're gonna look at
Dan Jackson? Yeah, you know Dan Jackson's in there against
Detroit's ones or Detroit's twos, it'll mean more to their
coaches than it would be if Dan Jackson's playing against
the Chargers threes. Am I wrong?

Speaker 4 (42:12):
Not necessarily wrong, but not all the way right. I
think you get a lot out of when you get
in game experience. When you're playing in a game, it's
much different than practice. Yes, you're going against the ones
of the Detroit Lions, which there's a lot of talent
on that, so you get a chance to get a
fair assessment on what this player is. But when you're
in a game, it's on the fly. Did you study
the film? Do you know the concepts? Can you adapt

(42:33):
in the game? What happens if you don't have a
good play? What happens if you make a mistake? How
many great players do you have in a row? Are
you ready on the sideline? What does the sudden change
look like for you? I think there are a lot
of things in the game where you can get a
feel for what type.

Speaker 6 (42:46):
Of player a person is.

Speaker 4 (42:47):
So yes to the ones, it's a little bit more
so you can get a lot out of somebody going
against threes. Decertain what type of player there and where's
their mental when they approach sixty minutes?

Speaker 2 (42:57):
Yeah, there's not I hate get overreacting. I'm just like,
I hate overreacting with Chris Paddock start yesterday. Okay, I'm
happy for him, happy for the Tigers. I'm gonna keep
that right now on the level mental and emotional side

(43:19):
of things. I don't want to do the same thing
with the Lions. Tonight. I don't want to get too
emotional overreact. Can you play yourself off a team in
a preseason opener like this if you're one of those
fringe guys, do.

Speaker 4 (43:32):
You think absolutely absolutely? Do you know what you're supposed
to be doing? Like I always go back to that
talking about understanding concept, studying that playbook, knowing that, do
you know what you're to do? Because when you're not
drafted first round, when you're not drafted second round, when
you're not when people need you, there's a necessity for
this player. Any little scrap you get, it better be great.

(43:55):
And if you don't know what you're doing, you better
be going one thousand miles. You better have one of those.
It was a bad play, but man, did you see
the effort? Did you see the internet? You can't keep
doing that. But that goes a long way. So you
can play yourself off a team if you don't know
what you're doing, if your effort isn't there, if your
tone isn't right, you can play yourself up a team

(44:17):
for sure.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
Now now that we've gotten that out of the way, Yeah,
let me ask you about the quarterbacks since that is
always I don't care if you're a starter or if
you're a backup. It seems to always be a storyline
when you watch quarterbacks play backup quarterbacks. In this situation
that you'll see tonight, what are you looking for from
both of them? Not just Hendon Hooker, Okay, Kyle Allen too,

(44:41):
What are you looking for from both of them? And
not just them individually, but the offense and the guys
around them.

Speaker 4 (44:47):
How does this huddle move and look? When you're in there,
you want the huddle to move and look a certain way.
You want to look that confidence. The quarterback controls the huddle,
he controls the line of scrimmage. And when it looks
in disarray, when it looks in chaos, when guys are breaking,
the huddle laid, or you see people moving, or you
know players are either almost getting snapped at zero, or
you get false not false starts, but delay of game penalties,

(45:09):
things of that nature. That's on the quarterback. That's on
the quarterback not calming his guys down. So I want
to see what the huddle looks like, and I want
to see what the line of scrimmage looks like. Also,
can you get a couple first downs? Like I'm not
looking for. I'm not looking for two hundred and seventy
five yards. I'm not looking for three touchdowns of these
crazy stats. Can you move the chains consistently? Can it

(45:30):
look like, once again, you're actually doing something in practice.
You're studying the film, you're watching number sixteen carefully, and
you're understanding what Johnny Moe's concepts. Sorry, now he's implementing that.
I want to see control. I want to see some
confidence when you get in there. I don't want to
see a guy that is a backup. I don't want
a guy looking like he's a backup. Yeah, I'm coming
in here to do my job because I know sixteen

(45:52):
is the guy. But at the end of the day,
I guess I have to do this. No, I want
to see some energy. I want to see a guy
getting up to the line of scrimmage. I want to
see a guy excited about getting the first down. If
he throws a touchdown in the tesla, I want to
see that excitement. I want some energy. I want to
see you get back to it on the sideline. So
don't just look like you're going out there to go
with the flow or just continued rhythm. I want to

(46:12):
see a guy that looks like he wants to start.

Speaker 2 (46:14):
If they throw too many checkdowns, are you're going to
be frustrated at that. If it's the right read, shouldn't
really matter.

Speaker 4 (46:24):
I'm not gonna be nitpicky over that. I'm not going
to pick the check down because I get it. It's
the first preseason game. You want to look.

Speaker 6 (46:30):
Good and it's not.

Speaker 4 (46:31):
It's a it's a primetime game. This is the very
first game of the NFL season. Regardless of what it
may mean. It's the first time and it's going to
be nationally everybody's watch. So I'm not tripping on a
nitpick in that. But you can't make that the whole game.
Dak Prescott.

Speaker 3 (46:46):
No, you called it man, his little st man.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
You'll get that all the time. That's what I love.
I look forward to that. I do. I look forward
to when's there it is.

Speaker 4 (46:59):
Okay, here's a hot here's I know you don't like this,
here's a hot take. Dak Prescott won't be the starting
quarterback pass.

Speaker 3 (47:04):
Week six, living same expand.

Speaker 4 (47:10):
Man, there's a young bull there that is very hungry,
and Dak Prescott, I think he's he's very glutting.

Speaker 2 (47:15):
This Wow, it's easy.

Speaker 8 (47:18):
I mean, it's easy to be that way when you
play for Dallas.

Speaker 7 (47:20):
Joe Milton been praised for no reason.

Speaker 2 (47:22):
Oh you think Joe Milton is taking over?

Speaker 4 (47:24):
Joe mill is gonna take over Big old six.

Speaker 2 (47:28):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 4 (47:29):
I'll sixty two million dollar bench plays.

Speaker 2 (47:31):
I'll take the bed. We'll do you want to do
lunch on that?

Speaker 4 (47:35):
Will you do lunch?

Speaker 2 (47:35):
Okay? You said week six or their sixth game. I
don't know their schedule because they may have a bye week.
Take you pick, Okay, there's sixth take you pick? Okay,
So if they're four and two, if they're two and four,
whatever the case may be, they're sixth game of the season.
All right. By week seven, Joe Milton takes over. According
to Braylin, lunch on the line, I say it's still

(47:57):
Dak Prescott.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
Ten one five one, says Braylan. Stop it.

Speaker 9 (48:02):
Michael Werry says, Braylan called it seven thirty one twenty.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
Also told you they were going to make the playoffs
last year. You laughed me on that too, But ire.

Speaker 2 (48:12):
I never laughed at you unless you get those little
digs in which I really like.

Speaker 4 (48:16):
All Right, I promise you.

Speaker 6 (48:18):
They won't be Christian Wilkins did.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
Nothing, nothing like Christian Wilkins did.

Speaker 4 (48:24):
Promise.

Speaker 6 (48:24):
That was my last day for c W.

You probably think I was crazy. No, that's how you

Speaker 9 (55:07):
Sixty percent of the chat family right now who's participated
in the poll, they do not believe that the Detroit
Tigers have done enough to protect World Series xtas.

Speaker 2 (55:16):
I wonder what it would take to get them to
believe they have done enough.

Speaker 9 (55:21):
Hey, put it in the chat guys, I will bring
it up to a melbat I do.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
My guess is yeah, oh that's it. See here, here's
what we want any no matter what sport. I believe
what we want is we want all our warts covered.
What was the starting pitcher? Check bullpen, check right handed bat?

(55:46):
Who can't get there? So the sixty percent, I think
is basically because sixty six percent of what we perceive
to be their weakness has been covered. It's just a
guess on my part.

Speaker 4 (55:58):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (55:58):
Same thing we do with the Lions is that batter.

Speaker 4 (56:01):
You know you want a batter you want another player,
you want another offensive weapon. I think that's what you're
looking for. That's what we're missing. The excitement from the Mariners,
the excitement of the Blue Jays. They got offensive players,
outs and pitchers. That's what you're looking for. The excitement
of the Marriagers is because they got the guy that
we wanted here. That's right, and that's what we were
looking for. We were looking for that type of player.

(56:21):
This goes back to the summer. Oh, we're gonna get
Alex Bradman. We're gonna get Alex Bradman. Deal is gonna
work out. I'm not trying to bring it up in
that sense, but the excitement because he was an All
Star caliber offensive player that hits the ball who.

Speaker 2 (56:35):
Also always want to go with gloves. So yeah, he
was really everything you wanted. And in fairness to the Tigers,
they made a hell of an offer.

Speaker 4 (56:44):
They did.

Speaker 2 (56:45):
They really did. I mean, I'm not gonna blame the
Tigers for not signing Alex Bradman, No, I really I can't.

Speaker 9 (56:52):
They stood their business too. They stood their ground. Is
related to some of the things he wanted to push
while though, but I was I was okay with it.
He opened a wild in ways we didn't think he would.

Speaker 3 (57:03):
I was like, you know what, for all of us
who didn't think he.

Speaker 9 (57:05):
Would do this for the Tigers, he showed up to
play a little bit of ball.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Yeah, I guess I'm a little confused at that because
he has he has shown to open the wall. You
may not like the twenty five million to have your
bend buyers. You might not like the twenty five million,
but it was to Jack Flaherty. You may not like
the fifteen million to Alex Cobb, but he has proven
to spend some money. Not with the Mets, not with

(57:29):
the Cobs, right, not with the Yankees or the Dodgers
or the Red Side. I'm not trying to elevate him
to that level, Okay. All I'm saying is I think
it's a little bit of a mis snowman to say, oh,
he's not willing to spend. He's willing to spend. But
sometimes just because you have money. I don't know how
you guys feel about how you handle your household. It's
none of my business. But I'm not going to spend
the money just for the sake of spending money. I

(57:51):
want to spend properly. You know, my wife will tell
me that all the time I had to buy these
white they're on sale. They're on sale for thirty percent off. Like,
but you still spend a lot of money. Oh my god,
So what difference does it make? You know, you don't
need any more shoes, honey, You've had plenty of shoes,
I know, but these were all thirty percent off?

Speaker 7 (58:11):
Right?

Speaker 2 (58:12):
What's going on here?

Speaker 1 (58:14):
Right?

Speaker 2 (58:14):
So I don't I'm not a big believer in spending
money if I have it just for the sake of
spending it.

Speaker 4 (58:19):
Quick question about a player and is rumored to be
moved this year. He's in our division. It's Kwan Stephen
Kwan Is. You already know he's not a power hitter,
but it doesn't matter. He can just flat out hit
the baseball. He is a really good He is not
a great players, he's just done the rate great, really good.

Speaker 2 (58:36):
What he does well, he does great. He gets on base,
he hits, he extends at bats, which gets to put
and he's a very very good me's two time Gold Glover,
very good left field.

Speaker 6 (58:48):
Where would you be scared for him to go?

Speaker 7 (58:50):
Cool?

Speaker 2 (58:52):
By the way, David bednar Is supposedly going to the
Yankees because Houston seems to be I've heard Toronto in
on him.

Speaker 7 (59:00):
I don't like that one, and.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
That would that would be tough. Ok that would be tough.
But but you see what we started this show by
talking about is that other teams. You know, you can
talk all you want about how good you were in
the first half. It's different when other teams look at
their needs and say, damn, I got to fix something,
and then they go fix it. David Bednar going to

(59:22):
the Yankees. That's a big deal that team, and it
forces other teams, specifically surround to counter punch them.

Speaker 3 (59:30):
All these other teams are not standing by no.

Speaker 2 (59:33):
So you could talk about, hey, you know I gave
them credit for standing their ground. Well, you're not gonna
be You're not going to be saying that if you
get knocked out in the first round.

Speaker 7 (59:42):
You're not.

Speaker 2 (59:43):
The only way you say that is if this team
wins or gets to the World Series and you've got
what you received at the trade deadline for next year
to help you next year, and you don't have that
right now. Okay, that's all I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
You're trying to win on optimism versus like actual, Yep,
we got this because of it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
That's why I asked, do you think they're good enough?
Do you think this team is good enough to win
it all?

Speaker 3 (01:00:10):
Tat family does not believe.

Speaker 2 (01:00:11):
So yeah, and I understand I do that. That's not
a knock, by the way, on A. J. Hinch or
his staff, because I think they're fantastic. I think they're
the best in baseball. All right, but you're everybody says, well,
Chris Fetter, he's gonna fix him. How's Casey Mis's last
three starts? How's Jack Flaherty's season going? The pitching chaos

(01:00:34):
nice corvette outside. The pitching chaos is not exactly what
it was a year ago, was it? So tell me
how that's worked out.

Speaker 7 (01:00:43):
I just.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
The players still got to make the plays and do
what they're supposed to do. That's my belief. Anyway.

Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
Yeah, they do. A lot is on the players. I mean,
we make so much of the coaches and what the
coaches can do. We can do the same thing with
the Detroit Lions and Dan Camp. Well, you know, Dan Cam.
They don't need Ben Jahns because they got Johnny Morgan.
He was here and Kelvin Sheppard was under, players are
the players. At some point, the players have to be
the players. They're the ones on the field, They're the
ones between the ass and then the ones on the diamonds.
Players at some point got to make the players. It

(01:01:13):
can't be on the skipper, it can't be on the coach,
it can't be on the position coach.

Speaker 2 (01:01:17):
So with that said, the Lions according to CBS Sports
what we.

Speaker 3 (01:01:24):
Saw or USA Today, USA Today?

Speaker 2 (01:01:27):
Ye USA Today has the line, where would you think
they would? It's preseason. I know they take these things
with a grain of salt. Where do you think they
had the Lions in terms of ranking for the NFL teams?

Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
Would I think a good safe number is five?

Speaker 7 (01:01:43):
Exactly where I was think five is a good safe number.

Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
Cooling top seventeen in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Right man, they've got them at nine, which is surprising
to me.

Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
Five. I can't hear the dissemble.

Speaker 2 (01:01:56):
Fine nine like like like Gordie Howe, like upside down
six an upside down six?

Speaker 3 (01:02:02):
Who's tripping like this again?

Speaker 2 (01:02:04):
You know you've corrected here. It's USA Today.

Speaker 3 (01:02:07):
This got me discombobulated.

Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
Yeah, so they've got him at night, which which is
problematic what makes it worse for me? They've got them
five in the NFC. In other words, they've got four
teams in the NFC ahead of them, got to go
through this and second in the NFC North.

Speaker 7 (01:02:23):
So eight.

Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
They've got Philadelphia's one alright, all right, they deserve respect, right,
Baltimore two? Every year? Man, Oh, let me put my
bib on. I'm gonna get up to the I'm gonna
get up to the counter. Can be a nice hot
bull soup and it's the Baltimore Ravens, and I'm just
gonna take the ladle.

Speaker 4 (01:02:44):
In all fairness, though this is this is a pre
is a regular seat. This is a preseason pick about
the finale of the regular season. And in all fairness
to Baltimore Ravens, they have the first or second best
record at the end of every regular season, so it's fair. Okay,
doesn't mean anything for the playoff.

Speaker 2 (01:03:00):
Yeah, It's just you know how many times we were
just talking about Buffalo yesterday and how people got tired
of it. I think the Ravens are on that line
right now. People are tired of hearing about how good
they're going to be, or how good they should be,
or how good they are on the regular season and
they're going to say enough, can we turn the page
to do somebody else, just like Buffalo.

Speaker 4 (01:03:19):
This will be the first year that I fully turned
This will be the first year that I will fully
unsubscribe to the Baltimore Ravens if they don't get it done.
And the reason being, yeah, they finished twelve and four
and they blow it up in the playoffs. Every year
we'll add another game because it's seventeen now, but every
year Lamar Jackson. Here's this offensive coordinator who doesn't know
what he's doing. Fire him. Here's this offensive coordinator for

(01:03:41):
two years that doesn't know he's going to fire him.
Here's this offensive coordinator for a year, fire him. Here's
this offensive coordinator from Georgia that seems to know that
he's studied Lamar when he was a Louisville And they're
going to bring this system in I think they and
then its excuse they don't have receivers.

Speaker 6 (01:03:56):
They don't have this guy. This will be the year
that they've.

Speaker 4 (01:03:59):
Now had consistency in the offensive caves, the offensive coordinator
actually having wide receivers, actually having the skill, and they
even revamped the defense by add Jaheia Alexander.

Speaker 6 (01:04:09):
So this will be the year they don't get it done.

Speaker 4 (01:04:12):
I don't want to hear squat about Lamar Jackson and
the Baltimore Evens. You can tell me about the highlights
because they are fascinating, but the Ravens, I'm out if
it don't work.

Speaker 12 (01:04:21):
There.

Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
They have three players who you could rank in the
top three of their position. Kyle Hamilton is arguably the
best safety, Lamar Jackson arguably the best quarterback, and then
right in the middle, and then Derrick Henry arguably the
best running back.

Speaker 6 (01:04:37):
In that case, they got four middle linebacks.

Speaker 2 (01:04:41):
Oh okay, rods right, okay, so second, so there you go.
There's four. There's four right there. Thank you for the
correct one, and and yet they still come up short.
I agree anyway, they got So they got that. Buffalo
is four. Three is Kansas City. So the top four,
you're like, okay, maybe I can see it hasn't shown
me anything yet either, all right, but maybe I can see.

Speaker 4 (01:05:03):
They beat the Lions.

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
Yeah, yeah, they beat him in the regular season at
home and they couldn't be stopped. Number five is the Rams.
The Rams are at five, okay, at six Green Bay.
This is where I had a temper tantrum just reading
about myself.

Speaker 3 (01:05:25):
I just I just looked at a I'm about to
be sick.

Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
Yeah, I want it bothers me? It does it bothers
me if we oftentimes live in a world of prove
me before I start to trust it. And they have not,
all right, And I'm not saying the Lions have either,
by the way. All right, I think they've proven to
us for the most part. But green Bay, come on

(01:05:51):
at six. Seven is Washington love, Jayden Daniels love, Terry
McLaurin had a lot of really good talent, all right,
might be a little high for me. Eight is Denver.

Speaker 11 (01:06:06):
That's disgusting, that's just discussed.

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Eight is Denver?

Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
Sure, this isn't Canada today, this is this is Sean Peyton.
All right. So I already had my bowl of Baltimore soup.
Now can I have some dessert? Oh, Sean Peyton, I
just let me take my shoes off before I enter
your house, get down on my knees and start to
just bout it would be. That's what it is, okay?

(01:06:32):
And then it's Detroit that's discussing. Am I overreacting? Is
this too much of a Homerism type feel for you.

Speaker 4 (01:06:44):
Yeah, okay, I think it is too much of a
Homerism typhoo. At the end of the day, I can
understand you want the Lions anywhere. Five I said, I
think five, you know, in that mix. But frankly put,
I'm not arguing the top four. If you want to
get to five, I think five is put themselves in
a much better position. Talking about the Los Angeles Rams
coming off there to Bowl three years ago, I told

(01:07:04):
you what they've done on the defense. Revamped that defensive line.
They've added more weapons for Matt Stafford. I like what
they are and Seanvay is just one of those wizards
as a released offense.

Speaker 6 (01:07:13):
I have no problem with them in five.

Speaker 4 (01:07:15):
Could have beaten Philadelphia last year in Philly in the snow.
I appreciate that the Commander's sure. You know, Jaydon Damias
is amazing. If you want to make then he's not
going to have a sophomore slump. They've revamped the off side,
they beat the Lions in the playoffs, and then fine,
cool with that. Six and eight are interesting. Six is
where I draw the Six is where I draw the

(01:07:36):
line because I get the fascination with the Packers. Ain't
even Jordan Love. It's a fascination with the Packers, all
media outlets, all games. It's whoever the quarter them, It's
the Green Bay Packers that's the fascination. And they provide
the excuses. He was hurt last year. You see what
he is. Matt Laflores has been to the NFC Championship.
News flash. What do you do once he got there?

(01:07:57):
But the Lions on them. They on him in Green Bay,
and they on him here, They on him anywhere them
Week one too, because Matt Lafleur's You saw where Matt
Lafleur is, where his energy was here.

Speaker 6 (01:08:08):
He is shook.

Speaker 2 (01:08:09):
Now.

Speaker 4 (01:08:10):
I don't know if that replace applies to the rest
of the league, but as it applies to the Lions,
Matt Laflores is shook when he sees the Honolulu Blue
and Silver. So I don't understand them being ahead of him.
As it relates to the Broncos, that's I don't like
Sean Payton, but it has nothing to do.

Speaker 2 (01:08:27):
With his Hey, you don't have don't like him.

Speaker 4 (01:08:29):
I think he gets it done. He picked the quarterback
that was right for his system. Quarterback that is making
it happen. He's been in the NFL two years. He's
already turned that program around. That was trash, that had
been bad even after they won the Super Bowl. They
immediately after Super Bowl fifty begun like the dcone think
they're back, and they're in the division that many people
think they got an outside chance on winning. So I

(01:08:54):
guess you're banking on bow Knicks and Sean Payton. I
don't like it either, But I think Lions six or seven.

Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
Years, that's where I'm talking those two. Yeah, talking about
six you know.

Speaker 4 (01:09:04):
Yeah, they own the Green Bay Packers. They own them.
No matter what the game is, you want to blow out.

Speaker 6 (01:09:11):
They did that.

Speaker 4 (01:09:11):
You want Aaron Rodgers to an assist? Thank you, Kirby
Joseph if you wanted to be in Lambeau. Guess what
I'm on Russell and Brown. Let me score a touch
down and balance myself.

Speaker 6 (01:09:19):
On my head.

Speaker 4 (01:09:20):
So they own the Green Bay Packers. And if I'm
the Lions, I gotta be laughing at this.

Speaker 7 (01:09:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:09:26):
And maybe they use it as you know, some type
of material to get him fired up. I think that
only last certain a mounte.

Speaker 4 (01:09:32):
If you motivates you well said people beneath you came motivated.

Speaker 2 (01:09:37):
It's it's a it's an emotional take to start. It
only takes you so far. People think, you know, oh
you know, look at the chip on the shoulder of
Alex Bregman. He still talks about how Dansby Sponsor was
taking ahead of him. Come on, man, maybe head to head.
But if you think he's up for Houston and they're
in the World Series and they're playing Philadelphia and he's going,

(01:09:57):
you know what, damn it, I'm gonna prove Dancy's long right.
But this kind of stuff can irk a lot of people.
Maybe it motivates some whomever. I think the people voting
on this, I don't want to give him too much credit.
But you're right about the Packers. But you know, Sean Payton,
I think he deserves a lot of credit. But if
you're talking about what have you shown me? What have

(01:10:17):
you proven to me? The Lions have proven quite a
bit over the last two years. It hasn't gotten them
to where we expected them to be, but they have
proven quite a bit over the last two years.

Speaker 6 (01:10:26):
They've proven a lot over the last two years.

Speaker 4 (01:10:27):
Now, this is only outside I first of all, I
stand with what I said, Lions should be ahead of
both of those teams. Yes, with that being said, you
know they've done a lot in the last two years,
but it's still an inconsistent times.

Speaker 7 (01:10:39):
Loot is one.

Speaker 6 (01:10:40):
It's twenty twenty two. You win eight of ten games.

Speaker 4 (01:10:44):
You just missed because of some fiasco and Seattle and
with the Rams. Next year, you get to the NFC Championship.
People weren't expecting it. You got there and you were
a nickel throw away from going to the super Bowl.
All the momentum, you go fifteen and two, the injuries,
and then you lose in the first round after all
of the press are and excite man and all of
the things and all that we share in those fifteen
wins in that journey. That's where people are at. It's

(01:11:06):
the inconsistency. I think when you have that. Regardless of
what we believe here in the city, people on the
outside still like, well, it's steal the Detroit Lions, Like
we propped them up for two seconds and look what happened.
You had a Lion's like moment. We can say what
we want to about the injuries, the fact remains we
were a better team than the Washington Commanders in that
game even still, so I can understand why people are hesitant.

(01:11:29):
And then you start to add the things in the offseason,
which is how they get paid. Oh what about the
offensive coordinator? What about the defensive coordinator? What about these coaches?
What about this player? What about Jared Goff's right arm
and Frank rag Now, so you start minxing that thing
in with what you already think is the Detroit let down,
that's how you get denied. Yeah, and that's how you
get denied.

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
Fair enough. It's a good take on your part. It's
good knowledge. We can disagree all we want. I think
they need to be somewhere closer to six. But in
the end it'll be the Lions to prove it to them,
not sitting there talking aboutious.

Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
I was gonna say it. For the last couple of years,
they have proven them wrong.

Speaker 9 (01:12:06):
These listens come out, They've continued to try and shovel
the dart on the Lions and continue to say cute story.

Speaker 2 (01:12:11):
I don't think so. Last year favor to go to
the super Bowl. So I'm not offended by it. I
just I'd like to know what people are looking at
and why they think the teams that are ahead of
them deserve to be ahead of them outside of Washington.
That's all for me anyway. A little surprised at the Rams,
a little surprised at the Packers, really surprised at Denver.
I'm Detroiters. We as Detroiters. I'll throw myself in there.

(01:12:36):
We get way too easily offended by stuff like us.
It doesn't matter. Okay, it's the damn preseason number one,
but number two. Let's remember last year, everybody that I
could see were like, I'm bullish on the Lions. They
gave them plenty of flowers. There wasn't anybody going what
I think the Bears are.

Speaker 9 (01:12:56):
There were people who were wondering if Jordan Love and
those Packers were ready to over take the Lions, and
I still.

Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Do they were undering. They may have been wondering if
they weren't picking them cool. Everybody was there.

Speaker 9 (01:13:10):
And those guys out there were picking against the Lions.

Speaker 4 (01:13:13):
Also, you remember that opening game. Green Bay actually should
have won that game, but they didn't. Going back to
this list, if you look at it, it really makes
sense how this list shakes out. If you look at it,
it's all about one and a half things. It's about
the quarterbacks. It's about what they perceived the quarterback to be.
If you look at everybody, they perceived Jordan Love to

(01:13:33):
be better quarterback than.

Speaker 6 (01:13:35):
Golf j D excuse me, yeah, Jay and the rest
and go up.

Speaker 4 (01:13:41):
And that's why I said have it's because both they
had Sean Payton into it, and they look at that combo.
It's a combo thing, Sean Payton and bowl Knicks. Uh,
you know, Johnny.

Speaker 2 (01:13:54):
Mooreton And I think you're right about the coordinator, you know,
and Campbell finished the second in coach of the year.
I think he's proven an awful lot. I trust him.
Apparently not everybody agrees with the same level, and that's fine.

Speaker 6 (01:14:10):
Ben Johnson is still your offensive coordinator.

Speaker 2 (01:14:12):
He's higher.

Speaker 6 (01:14:13):
The Detroit Lions are four on this list.

Speaker 4 (01:14:16):
I'm telling you the perception if they have Ben Johnson,
everybody called the genius guy, they're now fourth on this list.

Speaker 9 (01:14:23):
That would be consistent because everybody's take right now is
those coordinators are gone. Those coordinators were next level. Those
coordinators for two years in a row. We're probably your
top hey coaching candidates as well.

Speaker 2 (01:14:34):
I can't you know, I cannot wait till Detroit starts
kicking somebody's ass because of these damn coordinators. There's so
tired of hearing about Ben Johnson, not Ben Johnson, Ben
Johnson and Aaron. I'm so tired of Detroit's gonna go
out there. They're gonna go a cand of whoop ass
on somebody, and we're gonna be able to go. You
know what, how about? How about where's the flowers for

(01:14:55):
Kelvin Sheppard? Where's the flowers for John Morrian? Isn't edny? No,
They're gonna give it all to the roads, right, absolutely.

Speaker 14 (01:15:05):
Let's go.

Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
That's what's gonna I'm.

Speaker 4 (01:15:06):
Ready you in the final.

Speaker 6 (01:15:13):
Give me the got you fired.

That's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (01:20:19):
I don't want to give that away just yet, because
that is fantastic. This is sneaky, right, this is really
well done, really well done?

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
Are you guys?

Speaker 2 (01:20:28):
Would you did you read comics as a kid?

Speaker 8 (01:20:31):
Did you?

Speaker 7 (01:20:32):
I didn't read as I did? You did?

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
I did? Did you?

Speaker 4 (01:20:36):
Do you like the movies of whether it be what
is it, Marvel Universe.

Speaker 2 (01:20:41):
Or DZ correct, there you go.

Speaker 4 (01:20:43):
I don't like DC outside of the Batman movies. Marvel
I loved in the beginning, and then I feel like
when covid Hit took a turn for the worst, and
I feel like now with the last two movies Thunderbolts
and Fantastic for their getting out of that mess. So yeah,
I'm hopeful for Marvel can do moving forward in the future.

Speaker 6 (01:21:02):
DC.

Speaker 4 (01:21:03):
UH stay away from unless it's a Superman movie, because
at this point I'm just invested. I mean, excuse me, Batman,
I can't.

Speaker 2 (01:21:10):
I can't say that, you know, I watch a lot
of them. Yeah, but I can be seen as a
square sometimes and that's okay and.

Speaker 7 (01:21:17):
Wrong with that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
So I'm not invested by any stretch. I can't say
that I maybe watched a couple of Batman movies, which
is fine.

Speaker 3 (01:21:26):
That's enough, that's good.

Speaker 8 (01:21:27):
Yeah Batman, you're saying, I've seen Dark Knight and like
Iron Man.

Speaker 7 (01:21:30):
That's about it.

Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
Yeah, so I did see Iron Man. I really liked
the soundtrack, probably more than anything else, just because there's
a lot of ac DC.

Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
So we like to act if if you guys.

Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
Had to depict certain lions as Marvel or d C,
where would they go? Because this right here is pretty
awesome looking. I love whoever put this together.

Speaker 4 (01:21:54):
Sou in the back is an amazing shot.

Speaker 12 (01:21:57):
He does.

Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
He's been a staple in his company for the last
four years and we really appreciate him.

Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
On For me, I want to see what he can
You can you explain something to me? Are are all
these are they Captain America or all of them are?

Speaker 4 (01:22:10):
No, they're not all surprise today those are avenged like
the Avengers Okay, Kolates laughing his ass off. To your point,
the star on the chest, it is very captain America
likes so and then as the leader is so that's
a good question. Okay, this is the Avengers.

Speaker 2 (01:22:30):
And how many Avengers are there?

Speaker 4 (01:22:32):
Realistically it's an it's an expanded universe and the original
five five, five seven, and now it's like seven hundred.

Speaker 7 (01:22:42):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (01:22:43):
Okay, well we don't need that many. No, we look
at it. No, we don't take us through your brilliant
brainchild of how you've got the Lions.

Speaker 3 (01:22:51):
I'm taking them off the back screen, right, thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:22:53):
We got into some of the Yeah, it is really good.
We got into some of this comic book talk this
past Monday. I want to say we were on comic books,
combo heroes, et cetera, splicing it. I started thinking about
the Lions and what will characters be if they were
Marvel characters. So here we go. Brayln's top ten happens
to be a top twelve. Even Dan Campbell got himself.
You probably guess who he is, but we'll still take

(01:23:15):
you down the list. So we'll get this thing rocking
and rolling with the list. Is it gonna be on
the back or is it gonna be on the screen.
Both gonna be on screen? All right? Who you said,
say the coach coach first, do coach last?

Speaker 6 (01:23:30):
Just as they come up.

Speaker 4 (01:23:31):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (01:23:31):
I don't have at least in front of you. So
you have him, just do it all?

Speaker 3 (01:23:34):
All right, let's go here we go, Rick, You guys
start with your.

Speaker 6 (01:23:36):
Quarterback, Jared Goff.

Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
Cerebral, cerebral individual sneaky athleticism. He's a leader, man, he
was a born leader, but he's a chill type leader.
So I chose to give Jared Goff mister fantastic. I
think mister fantastic the fantastic for one of the most
brilliant minds in the Marvel universe.

Speaker 6 (01:23:57):
He has a hot wife, by the way, too, shout.

Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
I can ask a quick question in the back, just
a question in the back. I'm sorry you said, mister fantastic.
Is hey the guy in the wheelchair, that's.

Speaker 4 (01:24:14):
Professor I know you, I know you, Professor Xavier. He
was a little a little too powerful to give anybody.

Speaker 6 (01:24:24):
You know, he's he's still on the board.

Speaker 2 (01:24:26):
But yeah, I thought he was really smart. That's the
reason I got with mister Fantastic.

Speaker 4 (01:24:31):
The leader of the Fantastic Four. Everybody knows his powers.
Mister Stretchy also genius intellect and figures things out. So
I think this is good for Jared.

Speaker 2 (01:24:41):
Go Okay, that's cool. I wouldn't agree with.

Speaker 6 (01:24:43):
The leader that you trust, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
Yeah, I think there's a lot of lions who you
could possibly put in that place, but Jared Goff I
wouldn't argue with.

Speaker 4 (01:24:51):
I think mister Fantastic is specific to Jared Goff because
there's other leaders. Iron Man is a leader, but I
don't think iron Man is Jared go Yeah. In America
is a leader.

Speaker 6 (01:25:01):
He's the leader.

Speaker 4 (01:25:02):
I don't think Captain America is Jared Goff. He's the
type of leader. I think Jared Goff is the leader
I trust. The leader gets things done as you see
in the movie, in the comic book, and they fit,
they're cool, they're chilled. Even yes, there you go, who's
number two?

Speaker 9 (01:25:16):
All the say the people in the chat Alex Spoon,
he thought Jared Goff should be Captain America, And like
you said, there are some other leaders out there. And
then you got Michael Werry who says, br I thought
you would have said, Tony Start, but I actually hold on,
hear me up, go.

Speaker 4 (01:25:31):
Back to go and gentlemen, hear me out. Just because
you know four or five Avengers, it doesn't have to
be somebody that fits into that will. He is not
Tony Start, Like when have you seen Jared GoF racing
up and down?

Speaker 7 (01:25:43):
What we're in all right?

Speaker 4 (01:25:45):
Or R eleven or Mercedes? I mean he does have
a man never speak on another. But I think it's
more fitting as mister fantastic.

Speaker 3 (01:25:53):
He's now married, they got a.

Speaker 2 (01:25:54):
Baby on the way.

Speaker 4 (01:25:55):
You saw the movie. Come up and just relax, Jesus Christ,
here we go number two. Jamo. Now you know he
had to be somebody with speed. I think the perfect
one man is mister Maximov a k a.

Speaker 6 (01:26:08):
Quicksilver.

Speaker 4 (01:26:09):
I think Quicksilver is one of those elites because Jamo
he had a lot of people that, oh he's doing this,
he's doing that, he's a bad guy, and all those
people fell in love with him. I think it's the
same thing you have with Pietro. Pietro used to be
a bad guy, turned into a good guy. He's fast,
he's a blaze, he's funny, he's chill.

Speaker 6 (01:26:27):
I think he fished.

Speaker 2 (01:26:28):
Jamo's smiling. This skive looks angry.

Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
When you're running at the speed of light, you know,
yeahs face while he's running.

Speaker 6 (01:26:36):
A different versions of Jamo's running.

Speaker 4 (01:26:39):
When he's running fast and smiling, he's not cheesing when
he's that route, looking at that he's.

Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
Pulling away from people so much, so far that he's
giggling all the way to the end zone. Anyway, are
you guys gonna let me do it? I'm gonna let
you do.

Speaker 17 (01:26:54):
All right.

Speaker 4 (01:26:55):
What do you think about Quicksilver? Uh, kool a.

Speaker 9 (01:26:58):
I think that's a good one. I already looking at
the face right there, he making the same face.

Speaker 3 (01:27:02):
You're talking about. The absolute speed that he.

Speaker 9 (01:27:05):
Has to take the top off of a defense man,
and it's hard to gain plan for him with any speedster.

Speaker 3 (01:27:10):
That's gonna be the name of the game, man. I
think that this one is spot on, spot.

Speaker 7 (01:27:14):
On, bro.

Speaker 4 (01:27:14):
Now, if you want a smiling Quicksilver, you can also
go to another version of Quicksilver, which is the X
Man first Class version. I can't think the guy's name.
He smiled a lot. He smiled a lot. Same characters say,
does smile Jamos smiles too.

Speaker 2 (01:27:29):
All right, I trust you.

Speaker 4 (01:27:31):
I want to change one, but all wait till we
get to it's on the defensive side. I think we'll
have more pune with that.

Speaker 7 (01:27:35):
Okay, I'll do defense.

Speaker 6 (01:27:37):
Last name, Okay, who's next?

Speaker 7 (01:27:39):
We'll go here.

Speaker 4 (01:27:41):
I see in the background.

Speaker 6 (01:27:42):
This one's easy.

Speaker 4 (01:27:43):
When you think of big number fifty eight, the right tackle,
there should only be two to come to mind, really,
there should only be one. And you know what it is.
It is the incredible Hulk given the incredible luck moment
huwk smash, she got that. He got down that title.
In my opinion, the Aaron Donald game against the Los
Angeles Rams. That's when he became the Hawk, and he
hasn't changed since. Also is a lovable guy man. He's

(01:28:06):
a big smile, he's kids, he's family. Hawk wants to
be a nice guy. Hawk is cool until you.

Speaker 2 (01:28:12):
Push the right, like him when he's angry.

Speaker 4 (01:28:15):
And I think that's to a t. This one doesn't
need any more talking.

Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
I like this one.

Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
I get used the hell out of me.

Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
All I'm saying is I know this one. I like it.
I get it. Okay, this will makes sense to me.

Speaker 4 (01:28:31):
To me, I'm slow you're not that now who asking
about Jared Goff being Captain America. You know, so you
might be a leader, but I think there's somebody that's
more Captain America like on that offense than Jared Goff.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is you're all pro receiver. I'm fourteen.

(01:28:51):
I'm on Brian Sink Brown. That's who I have as
Captain America. Look you look at the guns very similarly.
He grew up with a bodybuilding It was mister Universe twice,
I do believe, and it carried over to his body frame.
But he is a leader in all aspects. He's the
loud guy on the field for the Lion's offense. He
gets them into positions, and he's the one most times

(01:29:13):
that they go to in those crunch moment.

Speaker 6 (01:29:15):
Much like Cat who was Tony leaning on who is?

Speaker 4 (01:29:18):
Who is Wanda Matt Who's everybody is leaning on this
guy right here, And I think it fits to who
am st Brown is not only for the office to
be honest for the team itself, but I think Cap
he's very Cat Black.

Speaker 9 (01:29:32):
I think you cooked with this one, absolutely cooked with
us man. As a comedy book nerd, I'm just sitting
over here now geeking. And another picture, another comparison, and
look at that. The same face is between Amara and
the cap man.

Speaker 3 (01:29:46):
Shout out, shout out, you jumped ahead. I thought that
was the end of.

Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
Looking at it. It's the same thing, yeah their head.
I thought maybe you might go with a line backer there,
just because of you know the strength and the power
and you know the edge you gotta play with.

Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
And definitely the Winter Soldier.

Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
For Alex Angeloni, well, what's not too far?

Speaker 4 (01:30:12):
He's not even on the list, right, He's not on
the list this year. He's what's up, doc, He's not
even on the list this year. I like him for this.

Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
This is me.

Speaker 6 (01:30:20):
You could have had that for a linebacker.

Speaker 4 (01:30:22):
But I think you'll like where I have the linebacker
because there's only one linebacker that I had a picture to,
all right, And I don't believe that linebacker was Captain America.

Speaker 7 (01:30:30):
I don't.

Speaker 6 (01:30:31):
Okay, although that's not bad.

Speaker 4 (01:30:34):
That isn't bad. Here's another one. Here's a fan favorite.
You guys love David Montgomery so much that I had
to put him on here as well, number five, And
I think this is a pretty pretty kick comparable. Tell
me what you think. This reminds me of my Saturday
cartoons back.

Speaker 6 (01:30:48):
In the day.

Speaker 4 (01:30:49):
I'm gonna give Dave Montgomery Beast.

Speaker 3 (01:30:52):
This comparison is too real, Love, I'm.

Speaker 4 (01:30:56):
Telling you, Beast is one of those Marvel characters that
is that it's true badass, but he doesn't ever show it.
He's always so cerebral, so chill. So that's how relaxed.
He's all about the team. He's making sure, you know,
Wolverine is not off doing something crazy. He's making sure
Professor Xavier can get the messages to Scott, et cetera,
et cetera. I think that's what Dave Montgomery is. He

(01:31:18):
is a man of the people. He is a politician
for the Lions. But don't get it twisted. If you
need David Montgomery to come in that game and bust
up some heads, that is exactly what Beast does when
he needs in the pinch, in the crunch. I like
that he is dependable. Beast is dependable. He's swow Beast.

Speaker 6 (01:31:34):
So this is this is what I believe it to be.

Speaker 2 (01:31:36):
I love where your head is at because you're you're
going I'm working. It's a deep dive. Yeah, yeah, I
think beast. I would have I would have guessed Aden Hutchinson.
So I understand. I understand the line of thinking you
like that like that. I just had to understand the line.

Speaker 6 (01:31:54):
I'm trying to go deep.

Speaker 4 (01:31:59):
You got one more off I'm done pausing. I'm forty two.

Speaker 7 (01:32:03):
It's too fun.

Speaker 4 (01:32:05):
I'm not pausing like I'm a grown man.

Speaker 7 (01:32:07):
I'm own it more.

Speaker 4 (01:32:09):
One more offensive and let's take a break and then
do the defense. You wanna do that or you wanna
roll through?

Speaker 3 (01:32:13):
We can take one quick one. Yeah, that'd be dope.

Speaker 4 (01:32:15):
All right, let's do that. The people put that combat
in the chat as well. What they think last one? Now,
this is somebody that we want to see more of
this year. Some injuries last year, some reworking of the offense.
This is a guy that a lot of people just
want to see. It's number eighty seven. It's Sam the Porter,
and I got a character for him. This is a
fun character. What about Cord from the thor movies as

(01:32:36):
well as Avengers? What about my guy Cord?

Speaker 2 (01:32:39):
What's his name? At k O rd O G.

Speaker 7 (01:32:45):
Cork is strong as I don't know what.

Speaker 4 (01:32:47):
He's very chill, He's he's simple and that's not a
disrespectful term. If you will, I think that's Sam a
porter Man, just happy, go lucky, chill, simple, you know, hey, hey,
what's going on?

Speaker 6 (01:32:58):
How you doing.

Speaker 4 (01:32:59):
But when the game's online, when you need to play,
if you need in the block, you need him, catch
him by. He will jump over you. He will run
you over. Remember the situation two years ago with the
knee injury. He got hitting the knee and kept it moving,
set out a game, came back, scored the touchdown his
first game back.

Speaker 6 (01:33:12):
He's a guy that he can put it on the
line when he needs to court. He's chill, though, trying
to get other characters.

Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
I don't know. Cord. Yeah, I trust Braylan Edwards in
the association with Laporta and Cord.

Speaker 4 (01:33:24):
He has a very good meaning. He's very funny. So
cork for Sam on Laporta to take quick break. We'll
come back with the defense. We've got some buildings on
that one.

Speaker 10 (01:33:30):
Hey, that's what summer's heating up, and Feldman's clearing space
for the incoming new models. That means massive marked out
during Feldman's Hot Summer Sale. Get a twenty twenty five
Silverado for just one eighty nine a month or this
twenty twenty six Equinox for just two oh nine a month.
Inventory is moving fast and when it's gone, it's gone.
So don't sweat the search.

Speaker 2 (01:33:52):
Just get to Feldman.

Speaker 10 (01:33:53):
More locations, more inventory, more ways to save the hot
summer sale's on at Feldman schuber Let, Chigan's number one
Chevy dealer.

Speaker 13 (01:34:03):
How do people feel about getting a Planet Fitness membership
for fifteen dollars a month? How do they like working
out in the clean and space just Jim that's filled
with equipment for every workout? And how about fre fitness
training in the judgment free zone that leaves them feeling
energize all day long. Joint Planet Fitness Today with the

(01:34:26):
free pf app online or in club, and it's not
getting that big fitness energy for fifteen dollars a month.

Speaker 2 (01:34:34):
Okay, So Planets Fitness perfect segue into this because this
is all about superheroes and the way they look. And
then right after this, we're gonna talk with JP doctor
Jeff Pears. He's gonna help you with the way you
look and the way you feel. So let's get to
the defensive side of things in a moment.

Speaker 4 (01:34:52):
All right, let's get to the defensive side of things.
Who's up for there? It is leaving Lee McNeil. I
thought the thing would be a good one. He is
a wrecking ball in the middle of that line. Last year,
I told you what I felt about the game against
the coach and Quentin Nelson. I hadn't seen what Nelson
get dishragged like that maybe ever in his career. Alien
was responsible responsible for it. Thing doesn't get any credit

(01:35:13):
because people didn't like the fantastic for it back in
the day, Like it's kind of like a joke of
a comic book, if you will. It was getting a
little more notoriety now the thing is the real deal.
He used to go toe to toe with the Hawk.
He didn't beat him, but he did go toe to Toad,
and I feel like that's who Aleem McNeil is, Alim
and piney. I'm glad we never got to see that
battle because it wouldn't end well for the landscape around it,

(01:35:34):
for the thing.

Speaker 6 (01:35:35):
For Ala McNeil.

Speaker 9 (01:35:36):
Would say, you absolutely love it, man, And you bring
up the fact that he went out there and he
showed great improvement this year, not just taking the next
step forward, but I'm saying like, from a standpoint of
absolute this guy is a problem. Remember there were two
guys that said, we're twenty million dollars men Zeitler, and
only one of those guys.

Speaker 3 (01:35:54):
Is looking like this is Aline mcnoll out here.

Speaker 6 (01:35:56):
I like this right here, here's the deep dive that
you look forward with.

Speaker 4 (01:35:59):
The thing and a Lie mcnit thing is one of
the individuals for that Fantastic Four. He's kind of like
the moral compass. He's the one that takes care of
the group when Reed Richards wants to get off into
doing his own thing, and his arrogance cost them, which
is how they turned into the event for the Fantastic
Four in the first place. Here comes the thing when
Johnny Storm wants to run around you know, Manhattan whatever

(01:36:19):
the city is chasing after chicks and forgetting to save
the city, who's the guy that has to get him?
It is the thing. I feel like that's who Lie
McNeil is for that defense. He was the anchor for
that defensive line. And I really think when alex ANZELONEI
is out, when Aiden Hutchinson is out, Jack Campbell became
green dot.

Speaker 6 (01:36:37):
But Leam McNeil was a big guy in the middle,
and I think he.

Speaker 4 (01:36:39):
Was the one that was holding it down.

Speaker 6 (01:36:42):
I think that's what this thing is for.

Speaker 2 (01:36:44):
You know what we're missing. We really need like a
little fireplace back here, little Ken and it's it's story
time with Braylen. I mean, he tells these stories about
these characters. You gotta get so perfectly. Well, yeah, a
little pipe, a little smoking jacket and Ascott. You would
it would work out perfect for you.

Speaker 4 (01:37:03):
Story time with Briand today it's there you go. That'd
be the voice all who got rocking and rolling that
this is the one I want to change. I think
I was a little lazy on this one. Oh a
little lazy on Kirby Joseph. So before we show it,
I'll tell you what I thought. I went black panther,
I dove into it. I don't think Kirby's black Panther.

(01:37:24):
I don't think he's t'challah. I don't think he leads
and plays that way. I think he's more of a
dead Pool. I would put Kirby Joseph as a dead Pool.
Deadpool has all the personality, he's got, all the jokes
he cracks, all the jokes he goes after the other teams.
He has no problem with it, much like Deadpool in
your face with all the jokes, but when he's trying

(01:37:45):
to fight, when it's time to get on the battlefield,
you don't want to smoke away Wilson Way.

Speaker 6 (01:37:49):
Wilson can put.

Speaker 4 (01:37:49):
It down with anybody in the best of it. All
the jokes during the week, when Sunday comes, it's not
that funny out there with thirty one. He's all business
this and I think that's what Deadpool is in the
comic book. So give me Deadpool for Kirby Joseph and
replaced Black Panther. You know what?

Speaker 2 (01:38:07):
Okay?

Speaker 9 (01:38:07):
That that was a good breakdown. You remember the Green
Bad game. The whole week leading we are talking craft
run in his mouth And it wasn't just that Kirby
showed out.

Speaker 3 (01:38:18):
It was that he went looking forward after game, like,
where are you at? Where is he?

Speaker 2 (01:38:22):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (01:38:22):
He ain't talking now, I don't even see him. You're
you were thinking about.

Speaker 2 (01:38:26):
I was thinking that who's black Panther?

Speaker 4 (01:38:29):
Nobody?

Speaker 2 (01:38:29):
Oh he's out, maybe teary. Who's pink Panther?

Speaker 4 (01:38:34):
Steve Martin, Steve Steve Martin.

Speaker 2 (01:38:37):
Quick hears out that one is that.

Speaker 3 (01:38:44):
Brian Brash.

Speaker 4 (01:38:48):
We're doing fast? Do I need to explain this one?
Brian Branch's Wolverine or weapon XS I like to call
him that. He does it. Oh, he plays with ruthless
aggression as well. He's wolverine or logan however you want.

Speaker 2 (01:39:00):
I actually like that one.

Speaker 6 (01:39:01):
Yeah, here we go.

Speaker 4 (01:39:03):
And then this is who I told us for Jack Campbell,
Who the hell is that Drag the Destroyer?

Speaker 6 (01:39:08):
His only mission, His only mission is his mission.

Speaker 4 (01:39:12):
He is all about doing things the right way and
the mission and the mission is to destroy I think
that's who Jack Campbell is. He's not gonna say much, Okay,
He's just gonna get here and get it done. But
as his character developed in the MC universe started getting funnier,
started taking chances, started.

Speaker 6 (01:39:27):
Being more cool.

Speaker 4 (01:39:28):
I think that's what you see out of Jack as
his career develops. First couple of years, super quiet, he's
all about football. You'll see some personality show this year.
Moving forward, Give me drags the Destroyer.

Speaker 6 (01:39:39):
And then go ahead, next.

Speaker 4 (01:39:40):
One, Aid and Hutchon has to be thor see he.

Speaker 2 (01:39:47):
Knows I'm sitting there jumping the gun. I thought, figure,
now he got the right. You're saying.

Speaker 4 (01:39:53):
I'm not saying Aiden is my favorite Detroit Lion, but
Thor is my favorite Avenger Avenger in the series. I
think he's just as strong as Hope and he's immortal.
I think he has a big heart, big heart in there.
He cares about the mission, he cares about the team,
but he's a badass. He do it on his own.
Tuny does it in his own way, much like ninety
seven coming off the end. I think he's storing, not

(01:40:14):
Alex Azeloni. I know he has the hair, but ninety
seven is more Thoor than thirty seven thirty like that,
and then the head coach, come on, man, you know
what time it is. All we gotta do is getting
my eyepatch. And Dan Campbell's Nick Fury. Nick Fury used
to be in the field. Dan Campbell used to play
in the league. Nick Fury does not miss a chance

(01:40:34):
to get out there and get active and get excited
and get the troops going. Same with boy Dan Campbell.
He is a leader, but he's leading because he's been
there before. And I think he is your Nick Fury
for this Avengers Detroit Lyon addition, and that's top ten
the right.

Speaker 2 (01:40:48):
Way you put a lot of thought in it.

Speaker 4 (01:40:50):
Did I care about the shock?

Speaker 2 (01:40:52):
I like that? Well, I was, I'll be honest with you,
I was really looking forward to a Braylan breakdown, not
this no chill. I mean, now you've changed my mind.
I can adjust. So when you take it through that,
I that was entertaining for me. That was it was
also educational for me.

Speaker 6 (01:41:09):
I appreciate Ryan Lance in the back.

Speaker 4 (01:41:11):
He made this so freaking easy, like going with back
and forth and saying, look, that's called teamwork.

Speaker 2 (01:41:16):
That is really that is really good work. You speaking
of badasses, Jeff Pierce is in the house. What's up, Doc?
How you doing?

Speaker 5 (01:41:22):
Man?

Speaker 7 (01:41:23):
I'm good.

Speaker 17 (01:41:24):
I mean I'm sitting here in awe for multiple reasons.

Speaker 4 (01:41:28):
Okay, talk to.

Speaker 7 (01:41:29):
Me, multiple reasons.

Speaker 17 (01:41:30):
I mean I've said, like we talked medical and you
come up with some detailed stuff like and you and
you and you sparkle it a lot of me. But
this Avenger, you know, I mean, you're bad. Was it
Little Caesars pushing the adventure pizza right now? Yeah, you're
pushing Avenger Lions. I mean that's a lot, that's a
lot of depth.

Speaker 4 (01:41:50):
Comic book hero, who would you be?

Speaker 7 (01:41:54):
Pink panther.

Speaker 4 (01:41:58):
I love, I Love, I Love Get In and Out.

Speaker 7 (01:42:05):
Is so good?

Speaker 2 (01:42:06):
Did you were you a big Marvel comic guy, DC
comic guy? What were you if?

Speaker 17 (01:42:12):
I have been known to be the largest animation collector
in the state, in the state the state, So I
was very into the I'm the Bugs Bunny though, Mickey
Mouse Doctor suits. I never turned to the Avenger thing
because I fortunately got to meet some of the design

(01:42:34):
the guys who like the Chuck Joneses.

Speaker 4 (01:42:36):
And stuff like that, so that you know, for those
who don't know, Chuck Jones is the creator Bugs Bunny
and all.

Speaker 6 (01:42:42):
That birthday was yesterday.

Speaker 7 (01:42:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:42:45):
Really, Encyclopedia break Panico, bro, how do you know that?

Speaker 4 (01:42:52):
No?

Speaker 3 (01:42:52):
Stop, who knows Bugs Bundy's birthday? Did you not just
see the breakdown? He did?

Speaker 4 (01:42:57):
But I got some animation issue. Apparently we're gonna breakdown.

Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
Prep that is anticipating the JP is going to be here,
going to talk about that. That is that is breaking down.
That's that's why it's called Braylan's Breakdown.

Speaker 7 (01:43:13):
Dude.

Speaker 17 (01:43:14):
You see impressive, That's pretty good. No, but it was
it was fun. I mean, it's I love like I
can connect more to that. The avenger stuff.

Speaker 7 (01:43:25):
It's a little not it's not real. It's real compared
to w W W E.

Speaker 17 (01:43:34):
It's real, but it's it's a little bugs bunny, you
know it's it's it's bound and dirty.

Speaker 6 (01:43:43):
Chuck Jones and Blunt.

Speaker 7 (01:43:46):
Was the voice of the character.

Speaker 17 (01:43:49):
So I was fortunate to get to the studios to
see how they did it back in the day where
there wasn't the computers. They were drawing. There were teams
of drawers and things like that. So I like the Flintstones.
Like when you always saw the Flintstones, there was only
a part of the film that was actually moving. Everything

(01:44:09):
else was static, like the Starter where they're kind of
paddling the their car. That was the moving part, right,
flint Stones.

Speaker 4 (01:44:18):
I like Hannah Barbara in Spurts, but flint Stones is
one of those ones.

Speaker 7 (01:44:23):
And don't shoot me the Jets.

Speaker 4 (01:44:26):
But I'm saying like flint Stones is just okay. I
like Bam Bam, and I like Barniey's like kind of
simple wit at times. But I didn't you love it.

Speaker 17 (01:44:36):
They're a decade behind me, so we didn't have all
those choices.

Speaker 4 (01:44:42):
Decade plus decade plus folks, less find.

Speaker 2 (01:44:48):
Me another show where you can break down Marvel and
DC comics and hand Bunny and Hannah bar Bar.

Speaker 4 (01:44:55):
You may talk about uh season the same day.

Speaker 2 (01:44:57):
Yes, and the Tree deadline.

Speaker 3 (01:45:00):
Shout out to Brazen. I gotta put you on the spots. Yeah,
finish first, so shout.

Speaker 4 (01:45:07):
Keep it at the home. It's all good with the
career right now.

Speaker 9 (01:45:10):
But middle aged sneaker chick two dollars super Chat says,
y'all got to clip that whole segment.

Speaker 3 (01:45:14):
Way to go break. She loved the comparisons.

Speaker 4 (01:45:17):
I appreciate that man like look middle aged sneaker chicks.
She gives the best complimence. So I was waiting to
give one, So I appreciate you. Let's clip that I
was waiting for. Somebody asked me, what was gonna be mine?
Like if I had one? I was waiting for that.

Speaker 7 (01:45:30):
That's what I thought.

Speaker 4 (01:45:31):
You question a superhero, which one would you be? Magneto?

Speaker 1 (01:45:34):
Why?

Speaker 4 (01:45:35):
First of all, Magneto is one strongest superheroes there is misunderstood,
much like me. He's very misunderstood, much like me, Like
he really wants to do well.

Speaker 6 (01:45:47):
He's just impatient, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
He doesn't like the the government and issues and things
that are going on. So he went on about his
own way. But deep down in there, it's a good
dude that cares.

Speaker 6 (01:45:57):
About you know, his people like that.

Speaker 4 (01:46:00):
You don't want no smoke. Man, he controls all the
metal metals in this earth like he's a badass. Give
me magneto.

Speaker 2 (01:46:08):
I don't have an answer for that either.

Speaker 17 (01:46:10):
All right, So golf oning is Monday. We actually, uh,
your golf outing is Monday. My golfing for Athletes unlimited.

Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
Did you get that invite? Cool aid you get that invite?
We're doing the show.

Speaker 7 (01:46:27):
You're there.

Speaker 6 (01:46:28):
Maybe.

Speaker 17 (01:46:31):
So we actually did a talk today with one of
our prestige athletes, Jimmy most Sherry, who is one of
our King King basketball players and now is thirty something
years old. He started golfing and he's now making the

(01:46:51):
version of the PGA for Adaptive Sports golf. So's he's
qualified three years in a row. And there's a kid
out of Utah that's kicking his buddy set. So we're
getting support. But we actually talked to a group of
a group of individuals and very moving and it was
wonderful out. People actually gave right on the spot.

Speaker 7 (01:47:13):
How long is it?

Speaker 4 (01:47:14):
How long does it take now? You know he probably
just started playing golf.

Speaker 17 (01:47:18):
No, he's been playing for eight years. Hey, okay, but
you guys have the adaptive equipment. You stand up. It's
a special carts and adaptive cart at your clubs are
on and you push a button and it stands them
up and he'll swing. He's a T ten pair of
so it means about just around the belly button. He's

(01:47:40):
impaired everything down below. He has his upper body, but
no lower body strength or.

Speaker 7 (01:47:48):
Ability to do things. You know what.

Speaker 2 (01:47:50):
I respect those types of athletes perhaps more than any other,
just because they will not let anything hold them down.
They're not going to let what happened to them dictate
whether or not they're gonna do something, try something, or
enjoy something. So I have a nephew who is like that. Okay, yeah,
my nephew is in a wheelchair. He was an outstanding

(01:48:13):
hockey player as an all state hockey player, won a
state championship orger League Saint Mary's, and unfortunately was paralyzed
from the breastbone down in a skiing accident. Okay, what
snowboarding skiing accident? Yeah, Okay, he goes out and plays golf,
he plays hockey, he goes to clubs, he dances. He's
not gonna let any of that stuff soup. He is

(01:48:34):
an inspiration. People like that are inspiring to me.

Speaker 7 (01:48:37):
It isn't that.

Speaker 17 (01:48:38):
Unfortunately, I've had the ability of all my kids have
been born after I started this, so they've been in it,
and it's just good.

Speaker 7 (01:48:46):
It's a sense of you know, you're right.

Speaker 17 (01:48:50):
It gives you a good baseline of what reality really is,
like how fortunate we are, you know, and we talk
about that. I've talked about that on the show a lot,
and especially if you come to the outing, it's it's
this social media me world. And if you come out,
if you like, if you can't change your mind or

(01:49:10):
attitude after seeing what these people go through through the
day just to get up and brush their teeth, and
you're complaining about your hair doesn't look right or you know,
your shirts wrinkled.

Speaker 7 (01:49:22):
You know, it's just you're there's no hope for you.

Speaker 2 (01:49:26):
But it's not just them. I think it's you know,
there's significant others that people who are really important in
their lives, in their lives every single day, who also
aid them in that, you know, and their commitment to
that person tells you something about that person.

Speaker 17 (01:49:39):
Oh yeah, you know those people are underrated every day. Yeah,
I mean what we're going through, but you know that
that's really you know, I'm not here to get on
the SOB story and the woes me. They are like,
I have so many individuals at Olympic level, you know, champion, national,
championship levels. That's say my injury was a blessing in disguise.

(01:49:59):
Like some people are like, if this is like gunshot, well,
and we have a lot of gunshot individuals in Detroit,
They're like, I should have been killed, but my calling
I've taken a whole different direction, like our main guy
out of Detroit to run it's the RIM found the
New RIM Foundation. But there's a lot of good stories there.

(01:50:20):
We would love for everybody to come out and definitely
check check out Athletes Unlimited and what we're doing. But
we'll get onto some some sports injuries if you want.

Speaker 4 (01:50:30):
No, I will haven't necessarily get into sports injuries. I
just don't say I appreciate the work that you've done.
I had a chance to go to golf outing last year.
The year before that, I've gone to your ben top golf. Now,
this will be the third fourth year that I've gone
to and I've seen these athletes man there, like you said,
they did not care about Oh, don't feel bad for
me and the woe is me.

Speaker 7 (01:50:46):
These are some ad fleets.

Speaker 4 (01:50:48):
They put the time in, they put the work in,
They're passionate, they're strong and confident in what they've been doing,
and I love being around them. Like a lot of times.
Is the very first time that I went that. I
don't think I've ever shared this with you. I went
in more of an empathetical, sympathetical space. That's what my
mindset was, ready to walk in and go there and say, hey,
how's it going?

Speaker 7 (01:51:07):
Boom boom boom.

Speaker 4 (01:51:08):
That's not what it was like. The energy I was
met with at the door was the same energy that
I operate with, and it told me like it just
showed me a different form of life. And I appreciate
me these athletes each year, year in year out, some
great people man, some great stories and they will tell
you about it. I've met at least six great athletes
that I've talked to since you're even as well.

Speaker 7 (01:51:29):
Yeah, I mean it's it's moving, you know.

Speaker 17 (01:51:32):
I don't mean to be rude when I say, if
you can't figure it out with something like this, but
it is it puts it in perspective. I can't keep
saying it enough. And you know I love you know,
have done it. But really it's them. It's like at
the talk, it wasn't me talking, it was Jimmy talking,
and it was like it was funny. He said I

(01:51:52):
had decide between buying a car or my adaptive golf chair,
which was thirty thousand dollars. Yeah, I can't justify doing this,
but with places like Athletes Unlimited and what we do
and what we bring, you know, our motto is, you know,
life isn't supposed to be a spectator sport. You know,
we want everybody active. You know, everybody on the show impaired,

(01:52:14):
not impaired, overweight overage. We want that activity. I believe
in the activity. It's a healthier way of living. You know,
Like they say, sports is the outlet. You know, sometimes
we get too emotional about it, but it's our outlet
for other things, right, So like we get all crazy
on Woodward Sports about the Lions or the Tigers losing,

(01:52:35):
you know, twelve out of thirteen or whatever it was.
You know, we're emotly passionate. We Is that a distraction?

Speaker 7 (01:52:42):
Is it? Truly?

Speaker 9 (01:52:42):
Like?

Speaker 7 (01:52:43):
What is our real purpose of.

Speaker 17 (01:52:44):
Getting so crazy about it or getting in fights at
stadiums like the European Like why do we do it?
I don't have an answer for that. I love to
hear the chat why why we get so emotional about it?

Speaker 7 (01:52:55):
Or why do you know?

Speaker 17 (01:52:57):
Certain people think like what are you getting so emotional
about them? So it's there's a there's a passion there.
Same thing with music, something just hits you internally that
you connect to it. And that's what it is for
these impaired athletes and for them to be you know,
when I started this almost thirty years ago, now, there

(01:53:17):
wasn't the outlets we have. Now we have forty four
different sports that you can currently play. My son, you know,
for next summer, we're starting a lacrosse team here that
my son and his group will start here and over
in Grand Rapids they have an active sports team that's
in lacrosse. So there's a lot going on out there.

(01:53:38):
That's you know, I encourage everybody spending extra two hours
on your cell phone, you know, help somebody else you know,
pass it forward.

Speaker 7 (01:53:48):
All right, we'll get off that one.

Speaker 2 (01:53:50):
We've talked a little bit already today about about the
trade deadline, and there's there's concerns that people have, and
rightfully so. I think when the Tigers go out and
they acquire somebody who's injured, all right, and in case
in point is Paul Steve Wald, one of their bullpen guys.
He has what is considered moderate terrace major strain after

(01:54:13):
undergoing an MRI. It's a shoulder issue. Can you help
us with that clarification on what a moderate terrace major
strain is in the shoulder, what it prevents, and the
usual amount of time it takes to heal something like that,

(01:54:33):
even though I know that can be a very dangerous
slope that you're ride down.

Speaker 17 (01:54:36):
Rotto, what'd you say, one of the one of the
minor rotar cuff muscles. So there's a super in the infraspinatus,
which are the major ones that everybody knows about subscap
than the terrris minor. It's more in that shoulder movement.
It's not as important. It's you know, when you say
a mild strained emeritus and show any tears, it probably

(01:54:58):
shows more inflammation and tendonosis, which is very receptive to
some secret sauces out there that can be done. Obviously
he doesn't have you know, there's no surgical indications here.
So these things are usually a six week at most,

(01:55:19):
and when you start pushing and focusing and getting the
inflammation out and strengthening, then he can be productive in
a shorter period of time of that.

Speaker 7 (01:55:32):
So we're probably looking at three to four.

Speaker 2 (01:55:34):
Week from the time of the injury, though right.

Speaker 17 (01:55:38):
Time seems like time of the injury is different. Right
time of the injury is I tweaked it, but I
kept going, it's a time when you recognize and start
the treatment for it. Because if you go on an
injury slightly injured, like those things can be slightly injured,
like it doesn't feel right to a player. That's immature, right,

(01:55:59):
So when you're in a sure, you're like, I'm going
to work through it. But he's actually causing a little
bit more micro trauma. So when we start the clock,
it's really from the time we notice it.

Speaker 2 (01:56:08):
Yeah, I guess I literally just found this out. I
appreciate the explanation probably makes people understand a little bit more,
but literally moments ago, according to the Detroit News, Paul
Seawold has been transferred to the sixty day I l.

Speaker 17 (01:56:25):
Whoa, So sixty days so they're going for the six
week thing.

Speaker 2 (01:56:30):
Yeah, but they just traded for him doc today.

Speaker 7 (01:56:33):
Oh yeah, that's okay.

Speaker 2 (01:56:35):
So when people say I wonder what wow, it really
helps their bullpen. Not him. He's placed on the sixty
day IL and is unavailable.

Speaker 7 (01:56:47):
Yeah, that's where you go.

Speaker 2 (01:56:50):
How does that grab you in the show that they
should be watching the show?

Speaker 7 (01:56:56):
Yeah, maybe watching our segment a little bit closer.

Speaker 6 (01:56:58):
He's on the stadar.

Speaker 7 (01:57:00):
That's that is not well, where are we at sixty days?
What are we right now?

Speaker 17 (01:57:06):
Basically August? All right, so let's spin that right. Yeah,
I'm always spinning to glass half full.

Speaker 2 (01:57:14):
Okay, you're available for the playoffs.

Speaker 17 (01:57:16):
You're talking about guy with great, great quality, great ability
that's going to come in fresh.

Speaker 4 (01:57:23):
I spin it. On the other side, he's also going
to be way out of rhythm and coming off an injury,
and he's gonna and you're needing him in the peak
time for you with the playoffs.

Speaker 17 (01:57:31):
Thank you co working Devil's advocate here.

Speaker 2 (01:57:34):
No, he's logical. He's looking he's working logical, which is
exactly right. That's exactly right.

Speaker 7 (01:57:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 17 (01:57:41):
Was it a good like can we go hindsight Monday
morning quarterback?

Speaker 7 (01:57:46):
Yeah? Was it the best move? Can he be a
long term play? Yeah?

Speaker 17 (01:57:50):
Kenny, these guys the rhythm. I understand what you're trying
to say. But they're professionals. They're not you know, they're
come out of high school. These guys have ways to
stimulate their game time. Ready, their mental ready. You know
we're talking August, right, we're going to playoffs when September October,

(01:58:14):
September October, you're talking about two to two and a
half months before you're in the thick of it.

Speaker 7 (01:58:21):
But there's plenty of the rhythm.

Speaker 2 (01:58:23):
Ante during those two months.

Speaker 7 (01:58:24):
Doc.

Speaker 2 (01:58:24):
It's not like he's throwing off to the side because shoulder.
If he hurt his leg or his ankle for a
short period of time, or he pulled some type of
rib cage muscle, I could almost understand it. This is
his arm that he throws with.

Speaker 17 (01:58:42):
Right, so he's gonna be down. But sixty days doesn't
mean he's healed. It's he's recovered in healing. So it's
not like he's laying dormented for sixty days, he's not
even bombbonds and he's rehabbing, he's throwing it. You know,
in two weeks he could be going moving at fifty percent,
moving that needle there. So that's more how I see,

(01:59:03):
That's how we look at. For sixty days you're ready
to come back to play. That means he's starting to
throw before then in two weeks, two to four weeks, all.

Speaker 2 (01:59:14):
Right, then then the red flag isn't a maybe, isn't
his pronounced? It's a guy who's only throwing fifteen.

Speaker 7 (01:59:21):
I live in a glass of half full, so I
like it.

Speaker 4 (01:59:24):
All the information you live half everything.

Speaker 2 (01:59:29):
You don't have to be emotional exactly. That is well done. Okay, Yeah,
we appreciate that. We always appreciate you the knowledge. Monday,
right Monday, the golf out.

Speaker 7 (01:59:40):
