Speaker 1 (00:00):
At the microphone and it doesn't have to sound like
a certain thing. But as a former player, you just
know there's certain guys on the team that the media knows.
This is the guy, this is the leadership. You've done this,
You've done this for years. You know the guys that
go to that stir the coffee, that they stirred the
coffee or they started pot in that locker room. And
this is where I'm going to get how does this
(00:20):
team feel, what is this team up to? And how
does he sound? Because I know this team they're gonna
lean on this guy.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
It sounds like you're talking about leadership here. And I
don't want to read too much yet, but you and
I had an off camera conversation yesterday and it was
a healthy one about Aaron Judge. I like him a lot,
but I also arise, but I thank you. Now you
may be seated, and you and I talked about his
numbers last night. Down six to one. He basically looked,
(00:49):
this is Hollywood, esk. He basically looked at his dog
and he says, we're not losing this game without me
giving us a chance to fight like hell for it.
He goes three for four. He scores four runs, He
drives in three. He hits a home run to tie
the game, his tenth as a Yankee, which is tied
for third all time in a very illustrious team's history,
(01:12):
and force is another gig. I don't know if they're
winning today, all right, I just don't. But here's what
I do know. He made sure that down six to one,
that park became alive, and everybody else went, holy shit.
You know what. This is a guy I'm going to follow,
all right, and I love that stuff. I think for
the Tigers, with all due respect to their players, who
I like a lot, I think it's aj Hinch. I
(01:34):
think it's their manager. I'm waiting for someone to step
forward and then, yes, I'll use the cliche, step up.
That's what I would like to see. So a few
things in the chat. One said moneyball, which is it's
a lie. Don't buy that. It's not moneyball. Moneyball with
the Oakland A's and Billy Bean did not rank fourteenth
(01:54):
in the league in payroll. Moneyball is getting guys on
the cheap and then letting them play and kind of
piecemeal it together. Okay, that is not what the Tigers are.
That's not moneyball. The Tigers are not moneyball. Don't buy
into that narrative. I don't know who's telling you that
it's bull crap.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Just because you don't like I can, I can. I
can agree with you on that same because you don't
like who Tigers don't mean they're not paying and spending.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
Money money money right, Moneyball didn't go out and spend
twenty five million dollars on Jack Flaherty, twenty five million
dollars on Hobby, your bias extend Colt Keith and all
that other stuff. Okay, the money doll money Ball didn't
spend Alex Cobb. One spend fifteen million dollars on Alex Cott.
So that's number one, number two. They got this far.
To me, it doesn't matter that mean that was me.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
It was true, It was true, It was true, but
it was me.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Hurt Sometimes Ryan, I digress aggress.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
The other one is it's a super chat. Love the
super chats and smash that like button. I'm getting the
lingo down from kool aid. Randall Small says, I'll take
my school against any other two pitchers. That's fine, that's
your prerogative, not me. Max Freed won nineteen games. Carlos
were don At won eighteen games. I'll take Christopher Sanchez
(03:11):
Jesus Lozardo over them.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
But it's did you take it behind them too? Are
you taking those two pitches? Are you taking their bats
with them?
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah? Exactly, I mean that's that's a good question. Yeah,
that's a good although Philadelphia struggled a little bit, especially
their big bats Schwarver, Harper, Turner, Uh. The other the
other guys I would say is if you looked at it,
I mean, if you're Seattle, if they had Brian Wu,
I'd take Brian Wu. I'd take Logan Gilbert, I'd take
George Kirby. I'd take Luis Castile over Detroit's top two.
(03:41):
I'd take Scooble over anybody. But the combination, No way
am I doing that. I think that's simply ridiculous. I
mean that that's just well, you can talk yourself into it,
but it's not the best one two punch in the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Speaking of pitcheon, we talk a lot about who doesn't
have bullpen woo, bullpens aren't showing up. Big conversation that
we had in quick was about the New York Yankees
and the not having a bullpen. Kudos to what the
Yankees did last night, and maybe a little bit be
a little too bit, a little too little. What is
it how you said, a little bit too late, too little,
too late, too little tootle. That's right, gotta juggled up
(04:16):
in there. Maybe a little bit too late. But that
bullpen last night and what they were able to do,
and how they closed that game out, zero runs in
that last three innings, Like that's what you want from
a bullpen, Like that's the type of that's the type
of performance that you gotta have and be able to
get to the dance and actually close the dance out
like they may not close the dance out, But kudos
(04:37):
to the Yankees bullpen because they went to work last night.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Who and who's that son of a gun at the
end of the bullpen. Who's that tough sob at the
end of the bullpen? David Bednar who doesn't give up runs.
I think it's twenty three, twenty four appearances, hasn't allowed
to run. Yeah, that's called a lockdown guy. I'm not
comparing him to Marion Rivera. Okay, I don't think he's
Trevor Hoffman. That's not where I'm going I'm just saying
(05:00):
I'm a guy who you want to hand the ball
to and say, Jesus take the wheel.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
That's him.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
It is, Okay, that's what it is. I mean, that's
what he does, and that's kind of why I wanted
him at the trade deadline. But I'm not going to
go through that. This from the chat, all bats struggle
in the playoffs? Are we talking Tigers' bats? Because it
seems like it. You can't say it's a guy who
we talked about yesterday, Aaron Judge. Aaron Judges betting five
(05:27):
hundred in the series. Aaron Judge was really good in
the Boston series, So I wouldn't say all bats. I
don't want to take it too literally. If you're talking
about the Tigers. Find me the guy. Here's what I'm
gonna ask everybody, and same in the chat. Give me
the name of the guy. In a clutch situation right now?
Game four today, you're down to run runners at second
(05:50):
and third, too out for some reason, Dan Wilson doesn't
walk you. Who do you want in the batter's box?
Who do you feel is going to come through in
the clutch? Aaron Judge did it last night. We've seen
other players do it. Okay, We've seen cal Ralely do it,
Juleo Rodriguez do it, will just take. We've seen Vladimir
(06:13):
Guerrero Junior do it. Who hit another bomb last night
for Toronto to help him get to the six to
one league. Who would you take? Stephen Kwan, I'm talking
about Tygers.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Miguel Cabrera, to be honest, the only player that I
trust the situation but the Tigers is the only player
that every game I'm like, he'll probably get a hit
and at his former Yankee Labor Tours.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
Get two hits or yeah, I know, he's the only
player had two hits for the Tyan Like, he's the
guy whenever you check the score about he typically has
a hit.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
He doesn't it doesn't mind the moment, he doesn't mind
swinging first place, he doesn't mind extending the count. He's
damn good at gets staying ahead. So give me Labor
Torris And even now On was like, I'm forcing the
fine one. I know you're and I'm gonna go with
labor Toy.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
He's he's had a little more swing and miss in
the second half, which is a little bothersome. I do
understand why anybody would would choose labor tourists in that situation.
And he's and by the way, to your credit, he knows,
he knows he was ready for this labor Torres had
in three eighteen with runners and scoring position. All right,
that's pretty damn good? Am I wrong? There? That's pretty
(07:23):
damn good? What do you consider clutch? Okay, two outs,
two men on? I don't know, but runners in scoring
position is important. He's beat in three eighteen. It doesn't
get a whole lot better than that. On the tigers kool,
Who would you take?
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Ah, somebody, Tigers somebody.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
I'm well, yeah, wow, we've got we've got a suit.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
You also can say nobody, because that that that will
feed into the conversation that would happen.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (07:48):
I want to be able to believe in Carry Carpenter,
who we've seen come through in the clutch in the past.
So if I had to say somebody, I would say
carry Carpenter. But right now I'm just with the power
stats that Chefs dropped. Man, my confidence Carrie Bonds, it's
pretty low right now.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Yeah, the Carrie I get where they get it because
my friend and your friend Craig Monroe used to say
that about Carry Carpenter, and I think some of the
players kind of gravitated toward that.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
Not true, but yeah, yeah, it's such a hard No
one should ever have bonds behind your name except bond.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
Never never seen a guy so locked in in all
my life.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Quite honestly, he became my favorite player because KM and
Griffy was King Griffy Junior. I saw an interview years
ago when he was playing with Cincinnati, but he said,
he said, man, he's a little bit better.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Yeah, never seeing anything quite like it. Don't like the cheating.
Don't like the cheating part of it. So I'm not
going to get into that guy's men's heads should not grow,
nor should their feet grow when they're in their thirties.
But either way, if I said to you, if I
said to you, Carrie Carpenter, this year with runners in
scoring position, hit one sixty three, surprise you, I think, so, okay,
(09:02):
one sixty three. Yeah, with men on, with two men on,
he hit two O seven. I think what we we
hold on a certain moment. I love him, by the
way I do. I think he's an awesome guy, but
I think he's a really good player. We hold on
to certain moments I think in our in our childhood
and our adulthood home on a certain guys. Yeah, you're
(09:25):
not going to get this out of your mind. Pick
a guy, Hank Aaron seven fifteen. Unbelievable. How they let
two guys out on the field to run around the
second base with him, I'll never know, but it's incredible, right,
But it's very real. Yeah, But it's the same thing
with Kerry Carpenter, who I like a lot certain homers,
the homer against Seattle early in the series. Who would
(09:46):
you say, Ryan, I just.
Speaker 3 (09:47):
Have to say Glabor And I mean he's just the
most reliable. I would say in this situation, there's not
many people to choose from and in clutch. In terms
of clutch, I would say with guys and runners in
scoring position. That's the way I define clutch. Doesn't matter
how many outs theres as long as there's guys on
you get them home.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
So without looking at any numbers, I chose Dylan Dingler.
It's the guy who I am confident in when he's
in the batter's box and there are tough situations awaiting him,
and I was close. You were right with laboratory to
(10:27):
ninety six is what Dinglar is hitting with runners in
scoring position on the year. Okay, all right, so at
three o'clock his first pitch or shortly thereafter, we're going
to talk about it throughout the show here on the
Brailan Edwards Show. When we come back, we want to
get Braylan's top five wide receivers. And I also want
to bring up a certain name. See if Braylan agrees
with this, who should be in the College Football Hall
(10:50):
of Fame. It's a Michigander, and I think there's something
wrong on why he's not. I'll give you some comparisons
and numbers associated with it as we roll on on
a game four Wednesday on Woodward Sports Tigers.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
Before we get to Ben Johnson, look, can't wait. My
guy Brandan, our guy Brandan in the back. He will
be bringing us some of that Buddies that your boy, Yeah,
Buddies Pizza dot Com. The Wolverine versus the State Square,
it's the battle for the houses. Michigan versus Michigan State
obviously will be getting the wolverine has a little pineapple.
(11:27):
Say I don't eat that other stuff. I don't subscribe,
so but we'll have more on that when we get it.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Now, let me tell you a pineapple guy on your pizza.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
I definitely am a pineappolides. My perfect recipe for a
pizza is pineapples, banana, baroni, and splash of baby like
that'd be my purpose pizza that I create, but that
a pizza place creates. You gotta go to Spring.
Speaker 2 (11:49):
I think somebody besides black Rock, I think somebody is
here kind of politicking for his own pizza at Buddies.
It could be I'm just.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Chet with the investigative journalism speaking of investment and will

it takes to minimize their liability. And then withhold from you.
We don't want them withholding anything from you. We want
everything you have to go to you. And that's what
(12:22):
Vin wants. So that's why he wants the fights for you.
But to vinfights dot Com and get him out in
the game and let him do the things that.
Speaker 7 (12:29):
You need to do.
Speaker 2 (12:31):

able to watch it all?
Speaker 8 (13:25):
Am I wrong?

go to Sean Bellegian's house because he's gonna be wearing
a Montreal cap.
Speaker 7 (13:33):

flashing tag on your left shoulders so you know.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
It's funny if you pay attention. I was about to
take it off, and I remember our conversation yesterday, so
I left this on.
Speaker 7 (17:52):
Just all right?
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Let me can I get into this college Football Hall
of Fame real quick? My partner doesn't know this, but
I wanted to do this. Braylan and I have talked
a number of times. He's pretty modest dude. One of
the many things I like about him. I don't care
where no offense. I don't care where he ranks in
Michigan history. I care about how he compares to the NCAA.
All right, When you look at a college football Hall
(18:13):
of Fame, it's not about well, he was the best
player in New Mexico. So what it's about where you
rank in the college football landscape, not the Michigan landscape.
So I say this with and I'm sure he would
take it too with great humility. When I look at
his numbers, I am stunned that he is not in
(18:35):
the college Football Hall of Fame when you look at
his numbers, and these are some of the guys, I
think you have to compare yourself on a level playing field.
So this is Jeremy Macklin, who played it at missoo.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
What's that played for the Eagles.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
Yep, you have Down here in the right hand corner
is Terrence Mathis, who was a star at New Mexico.
Up in the upper left hand corner Mike Hass Okay,
I don't know if he ever made it, and again,
college football of him, it's not about what you do
as a pro. It doesn't matter that he's a third
round pick. Which should matter is what he did at
the collegiate level. And then here in the right hand
(19:14):
side is Justin Blackman, who played for Oklahoma Oklahoma States right,
and it kind of looks like kind of looks like
Terrell Owens. But either way, So Macklin was an All
American as a freshman. He was two time All Conference.
He said, conference records for all purpose yards as a
freshman and a sophomore. I'm not saying he's not worthy.
Terrence Mathis was a first. It was the first consensus
(19:37):
All American at New Mexico. Finished his career as the
NC double A all time leader in receptions in yards,
first in NC double a history with two hundred receptions,
four thousand yards receiving, and of a six thousand total
yards purpose yards. All right, yeah, justin blackman Oregon State
was a walk on and left as the all time
(19:57):
leader in receivers three years or has was I'm sorry,
I'll walk on, all time leader in receiving three years,
one thousand yards and All American Bolittanikoff Award winner. Okay,
And lastly and really good in the PAC twelve history.
And then of course right here, just a blackman, fifth
in the Heisman and All American second ever to win
the bolittan cof twice. The reason I bring up some
(20:17):
of their credentials is because I'm gonna give you the
credential of this individual, and then i want you to
tell me what you're noticing in similar fashion, this individual
was the unanimous All American. You've heard that from each
of these four Bolittanickoff Award winner. You've heard it from
all four of those two hundred and fifty two receptions.
(20:40):
That's a school record. Again, I don't care what the
school is, but a lot of these guys didn't have
that many. Okay, thirty five hundred yards for a team
that well was probably known more as a running school.
Speaker 7 (20:52):
Definitely.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Thirty nine touchdowns led the nation in two thousand and
four with ninety seven, rocks over thirteen hundred yards led
the nation in the year before in touchdowns with thirteen,
And it's the only Big ten receiver in history, at
least at the time, with three consecutive one thousand yards season.
Mike cost did the same thing at Oregon State, three
(21:14):
straight seasons of one thousand yards or more. Big Ten
MVP seventeen times had one hundred yard games. Jeremy Macklin
had nineteen. So this person's not that far off. And
by the way, that same person has the second fastest
time in his school history in the two hundred meters. Okay,
So the numbers that I'm using with this certain individual
(21:37):
is very close and sometimes in certain cases eclipses any
of these guys. And the guy I'm talking about, of course,
is Jeremy Gallant. So all up, No, I'm just saying,
I ain't gonna lie. I always what it's Braillen Edwards.
And again he didn't he didn't know I was doing that.
I'm wondering if there's there's ever been any conversation with
(21:57):
you and anybody in the College foot Hall of Fame,
and if you ever thought about that or wonder why
what credentials are needed in order for you to get
in there.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
I thought about it. I think as you get like
as you get older, and I cracked jokes about a
lot of NFL players that are kind of on the
cusp of the NFL, and so they'll start lobbying, if
you will, for themselves. But to do the information, do
the homework. Now I'm forty two, and I'm like, all right,
wait a minute, you know, like because you start to
have things like your reunions come up, and you start
(22:30):
to realize like I've been gone twenty years, and then
you start doing the math, like wy we going twenty years?
Like damn, I haven't had a phone call.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Like, you know, the college football having fames, So it
is something you talked to thought about.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
Yeah one, what I'm saying, okay, because you want to
get into the Hall of fame. My dream, my dream
as a child, was to get into the NFL Hall
of Fame, win the Super Bowl, get drafted in the
first round, and do all those things that NFL Hall
of Fame. Didn't happen. However, I put myself in a
position over my four year career in college to be
in the college Football Hall of Fame. And it's something
that I want, but not just because I wanted, something
(23:00):
that I know I deserve. So I'm legitimately just waiting,
betting the process, seeing what happens. I know, two three
years ago Steve Hutchinson went into the College Football Hall
of Fame. It does take a little longer. You look
at what he did four years in a row. He
was first Team All First Team, All Big Ten to
All Americans. So I mean it takes time, but at
some point, the numbers are the numbers, and I get
(23:22):
I appreciate the conversation. I appreciate what you said. My
thing on it. When you're the number one statistical leader
in the conference for twenty years. Like that in itself,
that conference, well that well in that conference, that conference
happens to be v Number one conference. And if you
want to put him two finals too. And if you're
talking about the totality one hundred and forty years, the
big ten.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
Is the conference and the great receivers who've come out
of them.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
One hundred percent. So when you look at it that way,
I mean talking like you can even go further back
to the Chris Carters of the world, the Anthony Carters
who donned the number one, which is why who's in
the college football Desmond of power in the college football
and he played one year wind neither here nor there,
but what he did, so it Yeah, it's one of
those things you.
Speaker 2 (24:01):
Like, Yeah, I didn't mean to put you on the spot.
I'm just saying, you know, it's when you look at
like Terrence Mathis is a guy I think a lot
of people may have forgotten because it's New Mexico.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
I want to get in for the recency bias though,
Like that would be my one thing. I don't want
to be sixty waiting to get into the Hall of Fame.
I know all this recency bias, and then all these
Ohio state where Ie receivers because their school does a
good job.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Well, so that that leads to a different conversation. But
let me just finish with mathis two hundred and sixty
two catches in his career. That's a lot. Well, yeah,
it's eleven more than you. But remember your freshman year
is basically a wash, played six games. Okay, you really
did this in three years, not four?
Speaker 7 (24:37):
All right?
Speaker 2 (24:37):
And I'm not, you know, pumping your tires here. I
don't know Michigan's protocol to do stuff like this. I
don't know how important it is to the Wolverines. I
don't know how important it is for that school in general.
Does it fall on who else would have fallen?
Speaker 1 (24:53):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Well, I mean, you don't have your own PR team.
It sure doesn't fall in the big ten. It falls
on the University of Michigan period. Okay again, I don't
know if they did it for Dusmond Howard. I don't
know if they did it for Anthony Carter or any
Steve Hutchinson or anybody else who is in that Hall
of fame. I've a I'm a big believer that you
should brag about some of the things that your school
(25:16):
or your teams have accomplished. If you're going to reach
a little bit and try to tell me that ex
player was one of the best running backs of all
time and he wasn't, then stay at home. But we're
talking about somebody who has accomplished something at a very
high level and did it consistently. That's a really hard
thing to do. And I've if I'm going to say
(25:38):
the Tigers should do a better job of promoting their
great players or they're very good players and telling more
people about them, I've got to stay consistent with that.
Why schools don't have somebody to do some research and be,
lack of a better word, a historian.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
I think for I don't know, I think for the
smaller schools that would big schools. I'll give you an
example on a second. I think it's a political thing,
and it's that. So if you have a like Pittsburgh's
a smaller school. Now they're a big school. There d
one school, they're a small school.
Speaker 7 (26:08):
Right.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
The politics side of the college Football Hall of Fame
or any hall of fame is what's currently going on
for that person. Fast forward when Grays wives he was
in college football history friend of mine. I think he's
legit top four of all time. It's Larry Fitzgerald. Larry
Fitzgerald two seasons at Pittsburgh, but Larry Fitzgerald had a
Hall of Fame career, like it was one of the
(26:31):
best receivers the entirety of the time that he played.
Played on some teams, one went to the Super Bowl.
He had most notably what would have been a Super
Bowl MVP performance until Pittsburgh goes out there s Antonio
Holmes catches the touchdown. So as that's going on, you
got one school lobby and form in Pittsburgh. You gotta
put our guy in. Like we don't get very much.
Last guy we had before him was probably you know,
(26:51):
Dan Marino and Antonio ris set put our guy in,
and then you have this career that's going on where
it's nothing but respecting the NFL. So now it's like, hey,
let's put that guy in.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
It's a good look.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Same thing happened with Calvin. Calvin goes on, I had
better numbers than Larry for Joe and Calvin. Yeah, but
Calvin has his great college career, this even better NFL
career yeah, he's also.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
But if you say that, people look at it. Yeah,
people look at you differently. It's like, Pit's a really
good example. Bill Frey look really good, Hugh Green, all
these guys College Football Hall of Fame, I guess I
went to their website thinking about this last night a
little bit, and I saw a guy like Armanti Edwards.
Do you know who you are? You correct? First Division
(27:37):
one player in history with more than ten thousand passing yards,
four thousand rushing yards, four time first Team All American.
And he beat Michigan. And he beat Michigan. I thought
to myself, how is he in there? How is Dion
Figures a cornerback at Colorado. It's not about what you
do in the pros. It's what you've done at the
collegiate level. I had to do a deep dive based
(28:00):
on It's not like I think guys don't deserve it.
Toby Gerhart was a really good player, so he wasn't
very good with Minnesota.
Speaker 7 (28:05):
Big deal.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
It's great at Stanford. Okay, if you.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Don't do anything in the NFL and you don't have
people lobbying for you like we have consistency, then you
can get lost in the shuffle, and that's what happened
with me my NFL career. Yes, I got five thousand yards,
forty touchdowns, got big moments in the AFC Championship, but
I played eight years. The last two years were kind
of like, you know, trying to figure it out, knee injuries,
the whole nine yards. So it was a good career.
(28:28):
I appreciate it, but it wasn't the level of Larry
Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson. And then also in Michigan, what happened.
Lloyd retires, Here comes rich Roy rich Rod has no
care about the past tradition. It's my school, It's Virginia Midwest.
He gets fired, he gets canned, Here comes Hoax, not
here long enough, and here comes hardball who.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
I'll just leave that well, I don't even know. I
don't want to blame the head coaches because I'm not
sure if you've.
Speaker 1 (28:56):
Also had four you've also had four excuse me, you've
also had four or presidents or for a directors since
I've been gone. Yeah, like a lot of times. The
sense of consistency, your people, your ad your coaches, your
things are right.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Coup you know you leave, Yes, agreed with all that
I'm a big believer that if you're gonna take the job,
you better know the history of whatever. So if you're
a new athletic director, if you're an athletic director in general,
you should know the history of that program. And one
of the first things I would be doing is reaching
out to important alumni and make sure that anything I
(29:31):
can do for them. This is an important thing. It's
an important thing for you, but more importantly, it's an
important thing for the school and the football program to
be able to go to another player or another recruit
or whatever and say, this is what we have. Not
only do we have NFL champions and we have Rose
Bowl wins, and we have national championships and we have victories.
(29:51):
This is also come here and you got a chance
to go into the College Football Hall of Fame with
this guy, this guy, this guy, this guy, and this guy.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
And this is how we'll advocate for you right later.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
Thank you, thank you. It's called taking care of your
own taking care, okay, bt O. So that every day,
yeah think yeah, this is three days in a row.
He saying, I just want you to know, so anyway,
I didn't mean I mean Sylvester Kroum who's who's a
really good dude. Coach for the Lions, coach for Alabama,
(30:22):
and coach at Michigan State. He's in the College Football
Hall of Fame. There are there are a lot of
names that might surprise you. It's one of those rabbit holes.
I get stuck in this Sometimes I get stuck in
Baseball Reference and Pro Football Reference and Basketball Reference and
Hockey Reference, and I go into these holes and I
can't get myself out. I got in a deep hole
last night looking at it and going Mike DAWs is in,
Chuck Elee is in, Oh my god, Kevin Fulk is in.
(30:45):
I was I was looking for I was, I was
looking for your name.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Oh you know what, Like he was l s U.
Yeah he did his thing, LSU. But to your point,
that's crazy.
Speaker 7 (30:54):
But so yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:54):
He also I go back to the NFL. He also
had a very extensive career wing Super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
With the Patriots, like Mark Mester, a guy you know, well,
he's in there.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Real lies the issue with Michigan. I think it's like
they have so many guys that are I'm not going
to say on my level, but they got a lot
of guys that could be in the Hall of Fame. Like,
all right, if we lobby for this guy, why not
this guy? It's the right guy, it's the right time.
Speaker 7 (31:17):
So I don't know.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
I think at this point I'm making an Excuse me.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
If I said to you, yes or no, Tony Romo's
in the Hall of Fame, what would you say? College
Football Hall of Fame?
Speaker 7 (31:27):
Yes he is.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
But once again it makes sense. Tony Romo goes to
Eastern Illinois, small school, they don't have much.
Speaker 7 (31:33):
They have him.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
They got Sean Payton, they got Jimmy Garoppolo. He goes
to the Dallas Cowboys. They are super uberly proud of
their guy, Tony Romo, and then he goes on, how
success is Dallas Cowboy. We gotta do what we gotta
do to get our guy into the Hall of Fame.
So cause when Tony gets in, what school do you
go to? Eastern Illinois? So it comes back to the
(31:54):
institution to your point. So once again, lobby for his guy.
Speaker 2 (31:58):
You're a good friend who we had on the prom
last week. Crouch he is in. So that's my plea.
I hope Michigan sees some of this, takes it and
runs with it. I hope the College Football Hall of
Fame looks at this, understands the case, takes it and
runs with it. And then I'll give your keynote speak
(32:18):
speaking of cases, speak, speaking of wide speeches, speaking of cases, cases.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
All right, I gotta make my case for who's number
one at the wide receiver.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
It okay, we're gonna do that right now. You wanted
to get off this topic pretty quick. I appreciate that
very much. Uh, let's get a word from Smoothie King
and doctor Pierce and then we'll get into Braylen's top
five wide receivers and why he may be wrong when
we come back.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
One of the biggest things I love about this.
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Oh come on, man, you didn't take that bite at all.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
My bad.
Speaker 7 (32:49):
You know what I was.
Speaker 1 (32:49):
I wasn't on it. You flustered me with his compliments. Man,
I'm for blessing recovery. It's what winterers are may And
one of the things I love part of know with
Smoothie King this movie is the real true sign, not

Speaker 1 (40:18):
This is the State Square and I wanted when my
hands started itching. It's Wisconsin bricks, Wisconsin brick cheese, Buddy's
House cooked seasoned ground beef, spinach, white onions, and original
pizza sauce top with for cotta cheese.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
That's really nice looking. You almost don't want to dive
into it, but we will. So this is the battle
for the houses. Now the Wolverine, which Braylan feels more
comfortable showcasing hope that one's halfwa're gone.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
This is the Wolverine Ladies and gentlemen Wisconsin brick cheese,
the same thing, but it's cook Italian sauce, just caramelized onions,
pineapple rines, tomato, basil sauce and Sicilian spice blend.
Speaker 7 (40:58):
Good looking.
Speaker 15 (40:59):
Well, we get a breakdown right now here, some diagram
something go quick.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
The cheese is cooked to perfection. You know what, kool
Aid kol A just came up with a great idea

Speaker 2 (41:20):
This one's almost going Hey BBB.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
And shout out kool Aid.
Speaker 7 (41:24):
And not for that one.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
You know, you can't go wrong with the classics.
Speaker 9 (41:26):
Man.
Speaker 1 (41:26):
This is a little bit cheese pizza right here at
little half and half Cheese and the Detroiter.
Speaker 7 (41:32):
Baby.
Speaker 4 (41:33):
That's beautiful breakdown.
Speaker 10 (41:34):
Man.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
Listen to Ryan. Ryan opens his mic while he's chewing. Oh,
I mean didn't you I know your mom and dad
taught you better than that. Yeah, obviously not. You're sitting
here with a mouthful and you're opening you're chewing and
you're going no one can hear you. What are you doing?
Speaker 8 (41:50):
Man?
Speaker 7 (41:51):
It's good, It's good. Don't worry Ryan.
Speaker 15 (41:56):
They got me like that before bro Buddies gets you.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
It's good.
Speaker 7 (42:00):
I love it.
Speaker 9 (42:01):
It is.
Speaker 2 (42:02):
It's fantastic, so our thanks to Katie and the folks
at Buddies right there in Royal Loak. They've got twenty
two locations throughout the state of Michigan. You can't go wrong.
They've been doing it for seventy nine years. Doing it
this well, it's the original Detroit style pizza. Let me
get back to the chat real quick, and then we
will get to your top five wide receivers. Cody says
(42:22):
Shep because Michigan runs on the model the team, the team,
the team, Michigan should be having Braylan meet with every
wide receiver recruit. He's also spoken out against Michigan held
them to a standard. Well, I don't think there's anything
wrong with that. Quite honestly, I believe in holding our
teams to a standard. So why can't he hold his
alma mater. I don't think Cody's upset about that. He's
(42:44):
just saying that Cardier Shep has his daily Buddy's pizza.
I don't know if it's daily. I could eat it daily,
but thank you for that. Yes, we have it right now,
crazy clown. I said the entire time that it's one
hundred and sixty two plus and not be surprised if
it's gonna get tough. The Tigers are still standing, well,
(43:04):
that's well said. You're one hundred percent right about that.
Let's hope they're standing after today. But at some point
you do come to a bit of a conclusion about
a team. Jim on Twitter sent me this, I don't
have any faith in any part of the Tigers game
other than when Trek Schogle starts. It gives them a
chance every time. Other than that, I got nothing. So
(43:25):
we invite you in the chat here on Woodward Sports
and we will try to get to them as much
as we can. James brought up a really good point,
why do we coddle the Tigers? Well, James, I don't
think you're referring to the Braylen Edwards show. We don't
coddle them, and in fact, they sent something out yesterday
where I wasn't coddling them and people were pissed off
(43:47):
about it. So maybe you're right. Maybe the fan base
in general coddles them. I don't I expect certain things.
This is not let me be respectful here. This is
not the Colorado Rockies, the Miami Marlins, the Pittsburgh Pirates,
the Minnesota Twins. Okay, the teams that didn't think they
(44:08):
had a chance. This team I felt had a chance,
and I think you did too. And if you don't
admit that, I think you're lying to yourself and they
have missed the opportunity. All right, let's get to Braylen's
top five wide receivers right now. It's a passing league.
We know that it'll be interesting to see who you
think are your top five wide receivers. And this is
(44:28):
not necessarily based on just statistics, not based on numbers,
but this is based off your professional eye and what
you think. I have my belief on who is one, two, three, four,
and five, But people want to hear about your expertise
and who you think are the top five wide receivers
(44:48):
in football right now? And maybe we're a specific lion
might land on that top five list. Give him to us.
Speaker 1 (44:54):
Oh, he's definitely in here. But where is the question.
Let's go back. We'll start with number five. Put up
five for me if you could. We'll go with uh
boom boom boom Jeffer, All right, cool, my back, got
your boy. J Jettis justin Jefferson with Carson Wentz is
(45:15):
his quarterback now had JJ McCarthy for two games, still
has managed to have four hundred and eighty eight yards,
still making hell of plays, three touchdowns. He still is
that guy. He's just in search of a quarterback in
the consistent offense right now. Have to leave him in there.
I don't think I have to make my case for
j Jettis at five, number four. He's a new guy,
(45:35):
one of these Ohio state wide receivers. I can't stand him,
but I have to respect him and mech Obuka is
a problem. He is a monster, and you're seeing so
in his rookie year right now. He's second league and
excuse me, he's fourth in league in yards four hundred
and forty five, he's second league in touchdowns, and what
he's doing with Baker Mayfield. Remember Mike Evans was out
the first four excuse me, he was out after game one.
(45:57):
So he's been out the last four games. And Chris
Godwin missed the first three games and then came back.
Mecca Booka has been the number one wide receiver for
Baker Mayfield, whose team is four on one and the
second best team in the NFC. The fact that he
trusts a rookie wide receiver like that, it's working. It
shows you how good a Mecca Obuka is expecting a
lot from him throughout his career. He's just another one.
(46:18):
There's Gary Wilson, there's Crystal Lovey and America Buka. There's
Marvin Harrison Junior. I can keep doing this, and actually.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Let's be careful with Marvin Harrison Junior. He's been a.
Speaker 1 (46:25):
Disappointed true, but I'm just saying in terms of what
they were in college and like coming into the expectation, right,
he hasn't gotten there yet one recent but uh so
he's three four for me.
Speaker 7 (46:35):
Three.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
It's a saying I thought you were gonna like lead
in again, like, no, I want this one up there
because I know people are gonna come at me in
the chat. I can't wait. I can't wait till I finished,
and we'll figure this thing out. Especially after the comments
that made about him being the best football player, it's
not much to talk about with saying he's leading the
league in touchdowns. Also, he leads the league in catching
(46:59):
percentage eighty five percent. That is something to be said
for that four hundred yards on the season. And look,
he's just operating at a different level. We know the
offense has kind of gone through him a little bit
this season. They've used him to open up the running
game as opposed to using Jamior Gibbs to open up
the passing game the start of the season. So the
season he's having the insinctness that he is with Jared
(47:21):
Goff is something to be said about their relationship over years,
and it looks to be getting better and better. But
currently I got him at three in the NFL. Give
me number two. It's fucking the cool now. He probably
is one on most people's or he should be one.
He should be one. I got him at two, but
have no problem with being at one. It's something about
(47:41):
him this year. He looks different. His running ability is better.
He's getting in and out of his breaks a little
bit faster. Almost seems as though he's gotten a bit
faster in year three for him, and he makes that
team go. He is the one you're looking for. He's physical,
he doesn't mind blocking like amar Ron Saint Brown. He
loves the contact and he is going to legitimately catch
(48:02):
everything thrown his way, much like Amaran s Brown. But
it looks different when the court this year and that
five eighty eight, and you in the relationship that he
has with Matt Stafford is electric right now. And then
number one, number one, we're gonna go with JS And
here's another Ohio State guy. Now, I know he's a
young guy. Year two for him, but I gotta put
him number one again. This is just for right now.
(48:23):
Season will change, It might change next week. It definitely
will change in five weeks. But currently he leads the
league or he's second league in yards, he's third in
the league in touchdowns. But what he's doing right now
when you watch it with Sam Donald, who is a
good quarterback in the last twenty four games that he's played,
he's electric right now. And they're not getting a lot
out of the opposite side of the ball. He's not
(48:44):
getting a lot out of Cooper Cup. They're not getting
a lot out of the tight ends. And even K
nine and Zach Sharone, who came into the season supposed
to be these damaging dual running backs haven't necessarily done it.
It's been him. It's been Sam Donald and he's been
rocking and rolling. He's been doing with out running. He's
been doing big plays down on the field. He's been
doing it in the clutch, he's doing it the start
of the game. He's doing everything right. So just right now,
(49:06):
looking at the fact that what he's playing with how
he's operating, I gotta have him number one right now.
Pooking the Cool for me is two. The reason why
I don't have him one is because Pooking Nakula has
Matt Stafford's the best quarterback in the league right now.
We'll get into that a little bit later. And then
he also has Devonte Adams on the opposite side Karen
Williams in the backfield. I think there's a lot for
Pooking the Cool to get open. So that was the
(49:28):
little nugget why I placed him second.
Speaker 2 (49:31):
Yeah, I would. I would listen to Branklyn Edwards before
I listen to me. I mean, because he's he's played it.
The reason I would put Pooking a kool one is
because he's got eleven more catches than anybody else. He's
got a lot more yards. He's got eleven point three
yards per touch. He's got one hundred have forty six.
Speaker 1 (49:50):
More yards than the Buka I mean, I mean in JSN.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
So he's got one hundred and eighteen yards per game,
and yards after the catch is really impressive with two
hundred and fourteen. He's also got thirty one first down grabs.
I mean that is that's really impressive. I'm on sign
Brown is really good in regards to that. He's got
twenty five, so they've all played the same amount of games.
(50:17):
I pookin Nakua is being mentioned as a an MVP
candidate and for good reason, and because of that, it's
the first pitch takes place and a sharp grounded a
third on the short hop, no problem from chinistry, one up,
one down on one pitch. For Casey Mice and the Tigers,
I would say, Pooka Nakoua, then i'm on Ross Saint Brown,
then Justin Jefferson, then Smith and Jibga, then Agbuka and
(50:40):
then Cam Sutton. So that's just my opinion. Like I said,
I would listen to Brayln Edwards before I listen to me,
because oh you got Courtland Sutton. Courtland Sutton. Yeah, yeah,
I didn't mean camp Sutton, I said, course, yeah. I
like him a lot. I think he's kind of under
the radar, and I it's a fun conversation because you
(51:01):
teach us this all the time, especially in your Brealian's
Breakdown brought to you by Buddy's Pizza. Is that you're
looking at more than just catching the football. There's a
lot of other things they do. Now we take a
look at aman Ross Saint Brown and specialize his specialties
a little bit more. Maybe we don't take note of
(51:24):
what kind of blocker Puka Nakua is as much. But
if you're looking for the complete wide receiver, we would
probably all go with aman Rossaint Brown. If you're looking
for just the receiver aspect of it, I would go
with Puka Nakua. Why do you take who's throwing them
the football and who's playing opposite them into effect so much?
Speaker 1 (51:43):
I think because you're doing more. I think if you
don't have a quarterback that look. And Sam Donald's playing
a really good ball over the past twenty games and
so so, not to take anything away from him, but
when you think Sam Donald and you think Matt Stafford,
there's a big difference there, there's a bit, there's a
huge difference there. So Matt Stafford's going to put the
ball exactly where it needs to be. Jared Goffer and
now I was gonna put the ball exactly where it
needs to be.
Speaker 2 (52:02):
Baker Mayfields.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
Baker Mayfield is gonna put the ball exactly where it
needs to be. So when you look at that, that
that helps when you got a guy Sam Donald ware,
you may have to make more great catches, you may
have to make more great plays. That goes somewhere. I
look at the backfield, look at what Jamiir Gibbs, Dave
Montgomery and look at what that is. Look at what
Jameson Williams, Sam Laport. There's a lot of weapons here.
(52:23):
There's a lot of time for Amana to move around,
get lost, a lot of time to be one on
one and he wins those matches all the time. But
there's a lot that he has working for him in
his favor as well. So just why for right now
he's not.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
Above h We have a very spirited Woodward sports chat.
It's always fun. We're all part of it.
Speaker 7 (52:45):
What was that, right?
Speaker 1 (52:46):
That's it? Hey man? I knew they were gonna go
come on now. But that's part of like eating on airs,
like actually eating on air.
Speaker 2 (52:55):
Yeah, that's true. Talking and talking and eating on air
might be too different things. But I hear what you're saying.
It's good, though, it is good, it's very good. In
our spirited Woodward sports chat, we had one of our friends,
because we're all friends here, one of our friends say,
you get a three o'clock start time. That means you
(53:16):
don't have a real payroll and not a serious MLB owner.
Speaker 3 (53:19):
Oh that's such a Neil comment that.
Speaker 2 (53:23):
How does that make sense to anybody?
Speaker 3 (53:25):
I haven't said, I don't even know who said it.
My phone's over there, but that's such a Neil com
I don't.
Speaker 2 (53:29):
I can't, for the life of me figure out how
you come to that deduction. How is that the conclusion
that you don't have a real MLB owner, you don't
have a payroll. Their payroll is fourteenth Just so we're clear, Okay.
Speaker 3 (53:42):
Thought I thought we were money by I thought were
like bottom five.
Speaker 2 (53:44):
That's right, I thought we were bottom five. I thought
it was Billy Bean. I thought he was getting really pissed,
okay at some of his scouts and just walking through
and telling David Justice, no, this is how much I
think of you. The Yankees are paying half your salary.
Can we just agree, I'm trying to get the last
ounce of baseball out of you. Who thinks there's an
association with what time? I don't care if you're number
(54:05):
one in payroll. The Yankees are gonna play later.
Speaker 1 (54:08):
In the day.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
It really doesn't matter we are. Really it's it's not
like I don't think they should spend money.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
What if they don't blow the start? What if the
Detroit Tigers they finished in first places from one to
am Are they now because they won al Are they
now the night game? Are they now the feature spot
because they held all year and then they end up
winning Or is it because or do they go to
do they go to the third spot?
Speaker 4 (54:35):
Well?
Speaker 9 (54:35):
Ok?
Speaker 2 (54:35):
Can we can we all agree on this? If if
you're playing out west in Los Angeles to the Dodgers
that get they get the night to the late night,
so that's not even a question.
Speaker 1 (54:43):
So it would be the third spot.
Speaker 2 (54:45):
So so now, really, what you're doing, based on this
conversation that he's having is you're looking at three spots. Okay,
you're looking at the three o'clock time frame, which is
all dictated by the way, by the networks. You're looking
at a three o'clock start, a five o'clock start, and
(55:05):
a seven thirty start. When you have the number one
media market and the number one team in terms of
you know, recognition, you're going to put them in the
primetime spot? Am I wrong?
Speaker 7 (55:18):
There?
Speaker 2 (55:19):
It's not like I want them to. I'm just saying,
if you're a TV executive, what are you doing? That's
what you're doing, right. You've got the number one team
in the American League, playing in the number one media
market in the United States, and you're gonna put them
at three o'clock. You would be fired from your executive job.
So that leaves two time spots, the three o'clock and
(55:39):
the five o'clock. Five o'clock is really four o'clock Central time.
They've got the Cubs, okay, So you're looking at a
situation now because Milwaukee has a lower payroll than the Tigers,
a lower payroll, and they're playing in the five o'clock
So you tell me how that makes sense. Three up,
(55:59):
three down For Seattle, we moved to the bottom of
the first A good job by Casey Maiz to get
Julio Rodriguez on a fly ball to shallow left. Tell
me how it makes sense, somebody, please, If anything, I
makes some experience, I need some explaination.
Speaker 3 (56:12):
If anything, the three o'clock start benefits us more than
it does the Mariners. I mean, I still think the
Mariners have probably adjusted to the time zone a little
bit now, especially this is their second day or third day.
But if anything it benefits us playing the third o'clock
or three o'clock spot, then it does the Mariners. So
we should be happy if anything. But again, we are
not going to not outbid, but we're not going to
(56:34):
take over the Yankees primetime spot. That is going to
be given to the Yankees, no matter what. If it's
the networks, like you mentioned, we don't deserve that.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
Exactly, and we're so whether the owner spends money or not,
you're not going to do that. You've got the number
one team in the American League, the Toronto Blue Jays,
playing in the number one media market, the New York Yankees.
How in the world do you think that has anything
to do with MLB owners and how much they spend money.
Speaker 1 (56:57):
It doesn't.
Speaker 3 (56:58):
It has nothing to do with it as the whole
fact that we are not the New York Yankees.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
One of the worst takes we've seen, one of the
worst takes in our in our in our group chat.
Speaker 1 (57:08):
I think up, I think that we should set up
a spiring match between you and that said individual who
made that comment. I will pay great money to see
that and everybody out there, and you know who that
person is. He sits.
Speaker 7 (57:28):
Right there.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
I paid money to see it.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
He can he can come in and watch the show,
watch the game with us. If he was like as
we moved to the bottom of the first it just
to me you. We can take our proverbial shots at
at Chris Ilich and he deserves them.
Speaker 7 (57:43):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
We could take our shots at the history of this
franchise and where they rank financially. Okay, they and they
deserve it. They ranked fourteenth in payroll. My question to
anybody who has this conversation is what do you think
is the right number? That's all I ask. You've got
(58:04):
to have a number in mind. So mine is one sixty. Realistically,
it's one sixty, okay for this team and this market
and how many people come through the turnstiles. All right,
that's what I believe there. It was one fifty seven.
Speaker 3 (58:19):
This year, okay, and we didn't even use fifteen million
of it.
Speaker 2 (58:24):
Well, you're right about that, right. So if you are
under the delusion that they're gonna spend like the Dodgers,
they're gonna spend like the Mats, they're gonna spend like
the Phillies, or the Yankees, the Cubs, the Padres, you
are absolutely wrong. And if that's your theory, if you believe, well,
you've got to spend money in order for you to
get a better time slot, then it shouldn't be a
(58:46):
surprise to you when Toronto, who ranks seventh, and the Yankees,
who rank fourth, have the top spot.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (58:54):
I think it's logic, but maybe sometimes we lose logic
right out the window. I'm gonna say this real quick.
I don't know how long Bryce Miller is gonna go
for Seattle. I don't anticipate him going. He might go
through the lineup once. I mean, if I am Dan Wilson,
I am ready with the long hook to pull him
(59:15):
out after he goes through the lineup one time, maybe
that's three innings. Who knows. They are gonna do everything
they can to try and win this game, and rightfully
so in his career two and zero with a point
five to eight era. That doesn't mean a whole lot
to me because it's all about innings, pitch and so
on and so forth. Tigers, I think, got to score early.
(59:37):
It's not revolutionary, not a Trailblazers, but they've got to
score earlier.
Speaker 1 (59:41):
This guy, guys get some energy. You know, to score earlier,
to get early energy, you get some energy. You start
to get that thing moving around at Doug guy, you
get it moving around in feel.
Speaker 7 (59:48):
Energy is real.
Speaker 1 (59:49):
It's very contagious. You score first, you get that energy up.
You feel confident. When you feel confident, you play better.
You feel a little bit more relaxed. When you're not
in that conference zone, like now you're still pressing, you're
still thinking a little bit. So when you get into
it early, just like in games like if you'll notice
certain teams like to get certain players involved in the
games early. You'll see the Lions try to get jame
(01:00:10):
on invall because it keeps it involved in the game.
I remember when I was playing. One of the good
things about Rob Chazinski, at least my first his first
year in Cleveland, No.
Speaker 7 (01:00:17):
Seven.
Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
He will lock you in early and the cool. Let's
get Brailan fed, Let's get him in the end zone
first quarter, you know what I'm saying, Maybe early into
the second quarter. Now I'm locked and loaded. Now you've
got your offense rocking and roll, and it just makes
it a lot more easy. But the energy is real.
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
You could feel whether the energy is there or not
last night, and you as an athlete feel the energy too.
Speaker 7 (01:00:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:00:37):
Now I'm a big believer, correct me if you think
I'm wrong here. The energy you can feel at the
beginning of the game, but once the game settles in,
it's almost like the Ryder Cup, once your t shot
is off and people are like, whoa, wait to go?
Speaker 7 (01:00:48):
All right?
Speaker 2 (01:00:49):
And eventually eventually you got to play golf when you
eventually got to play baseball. True, the emotion settles in, right.
Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
Yeah, it does. But still you still feed off of
it though. Yeah, there's time.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):
Yeah, in big moments you can absolutely feed off all right,
quick time out when we come back Brailan's top ten teams.
We do this once a week on The Brailan Edward Show.
But first this from Blackrock and.
Speaker 1 (01:01:11):
I'll give you a spoiler alert. Okay, the one team
you care about. Yes, they are the number one team
in the NFL. Everybody said that, No need to worry, Sia.
I'm a Ron situation. Your Detroit Lions will be at

they'll be closed after the game's over, but you say
you'd be sure to come for lunch on Tuesday. Because
when the Lions win, you win. That's right, ladies. And
when the Lions win, you win.
Speaker 3 (01:01:47):
You go in.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
You get your self a free appetizer. If you don't
want that appetizer, someone else on your team and take it.
Maybe you get that Brailen's Beef twenty ounce New York trip.
Once again, limited time only with all the locations that
black Rot. This deal goes for all of them, walk up,
pull in and let them sizzle you.

Speaker 1 (01:07:50):
Do that cool oil, are you going? Are you gonna
trade with your boy and that I'm trying to get
this rosters together? Man, trade with your boy?
Speaker 16 (01:07:56):
Man of a definitely second, I gotta I gotta think
back because I did have Syvich Hill on my fantasy squad.
Saw they needed some wide receivers, but my running backs
there's some dogs man.
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Well, this is an inside show right now between two
fantasy football owners. Braylan, I believe it's leading his league.
I don't know what he's whining about. Needing another wide receiver.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
See I was, and then the last two weeks happening,
and now I went from three and oh to three
and two oh. But I'm still in fourth place, and
I still can make great moves, great strides. Kool Aid,
on the other hand, and Site I won four help,
he's really exposing you like that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:36):
You think Koolide should just give seasons first of all.
Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
First of all, I offered him a running back and
Devonte Smith. Okay, you need a wide out. I offered
you d Vontae Smith last couple of weeks. He's been nineteen.
He was sixteen last week, and now they're trying to
pass the ball. He's the one receiver for the Philadelphiagas
that will get the ball passed to him. I try
to give him and a running back and some cash.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
There are certain things that the emotion really comes out
Braylan Edwards's voice. Fantasy football is definitely one of them.
Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
I seeing fans in football, but I'm just trying to
act like I'm good you see, acting.
Speaker 4 (01:09:08):
Like I got I got two with I am good
for you.
Speaker 2 (01:09:11):
Josh Naylor with the one out double off Casey Mice
into the right field corner. I was worried about this.
I said this earlier this morning on my radio show.
I worried about Josh Naylor and Cal Raley against Casey Mice.
Naylor hitless in the series so far, and he hits
it down the right field line into the corner. It's
a one out double. All right, Let's see how long
(01:09:33):
Casey Mice can get this first pit strikes really important
for Casey Mice. Go ahead with the Uh. In the
chat conversation, please cool it. Yeah, it's more about your
fantasy football, I say.
Speaker 6 (01:09:44):
Michael Wherry shout out to our vet in the chat
number two Crown today with the five dollars super chat,
he says, what do you guys think about the moves
the Lions made today?
Speaker 15 (01:09:54):
I don't know if you guys saw some of the
the moves that they did practice.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
Oh practice squad. It doesn't it doesn't move my needle. Michael.
We said this yesterday. They had three healthy bodies at cornerback. Uh,
it's not that we think they're they're bad, you know,
with with Maddox and Robertson Rocks you have seen I
worry about that's it's such a it's such a position
(01:10:20):
of depth need. If there's such a phrase, I think
they need to I think they need to go out
and trade for one. That's just my opinion. I don't
think it would take a lot to get certain players
here that you would feel more comfortable covering white outs.
So I would like to see them make a move.
And that's not a knee jerk reaction, that is not
(01:10:41):
an overreaction. I think that's a logical reaction.
Speaker 7 (01:10:44):
What do you think.
Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
I think it's lasic reaction. They think in terms of
going out and get more players and add something to it,
to the caveat of the dB position. Yeah, there's moves
that you can make. I got traded during the season,
you know, and I look at that there's trades to
be made. I think I was traded for a fourth
round pick. I went to the Jets on that was
my sixth year, and they picked up my options the
next year. But you can make a move. You look
(01:11:08):
at a roster, see what's going on, See where you
can have a guy come in, see what you be
willing to give up. If that's a fifth round pick,
a sixth round pick, a nothing, A player for player,
there's moves to be made. It's just the way the NFL.
That's the that's the good news with the NFL up
until once you get to that deadline. Options off the table.
Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
U love the moxie of Casey Mace. He gives up
the one on double and then he strikes out a
your Haaneo Suarez.
Speaker 8 (01:11:34):
So this is a guy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Remember this we all wanted I shouldn't say we all,
most of us, KG and I were talking about this
before the game, before the show, every most of us
wanted a power right handed bat at the trade deadline,
and the name was a Yourhannio Suarez. Seattle comes through now,
just as I give Casey Mice, you know, some kudos
(01:11:56):
for buckling down. Incomes Canton and boom Dominic Canzone delivers
an rb I single to right. Seattle has taken.
Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
The last three games each, the last three game.
Speaker 4 (01:12:06):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (01:12:07):
I like that Suarez since the acquisition going to Seattle.
You know, we thought this is a guy, power hitter.
You and I were talking about it earlier, and yeah,
for the season, I think he's been pretty good, but
the second half of the season one ninety six, that's
all he's hit with a slug of four sixty. So
(01:12:27):
I think sometimes we get a little over our skis
when it comes to that is on base percentage is
under twenty seven percent. I just want to call myself
out here because I'm one of those guys who thought
that would have been worth the acquisition. Had he come
here and performed like that, I think a lot of
us would have said that was a bad move. Okay,
(01:12:50):
now that includes, by the way, that's not all of
him with Seattle. That's the second half of the season.
He was trending downward, is my point. And since he's
gone to Seattle, he's bat at one eighty nine.
Speaker 7 (01:13:03):
Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
Sorry now I was gonna say, but like Darren goes
back to that point A. By having players that you
can trust, he can play that bad and then figure
out in the playoffs, which it seems like he's doing.
Because you have cal Raley, who before the season wasn't
necessary what he is now. But you have a Julio
rod Reganez. Then you have a Kyl Raaly come on strong.
You have Randia Rose Arena. So you can have a
(01:13:25):
guy play like that and it not necessarily affects you.
And then, oh, by the way, when he chooses to
wake up, Now, this is why they brought him in
in the first place.
Speaker 2 (01:13:34):
Lengthens your lineup without question. Is Victor Roblay stands in
one for eight in the series and the Tigers down
one nothing. All right, let's get to your top ten
teams in the National Football League. We do it every
week on the Brilliant Edwards Show. Sometimes he's gonna throw
a curveball in there. Last week, No, two weeks ago.
I apologize. Two weeks ago, he said, literally Baltimore. He
(01:13:55):
didn't say done, but he said Baltimore. They weren't ranked
as highly as I think thought they should be. And
he said, I'm telling you they're cooked. That was his words.
They're cooked. So let's see where you have your rankings,
first in the NFC, AFC and then overall.
Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
Okay, we'll start with the NFC. We'll have some fun.
We won't take too long to do this thing. Bang
shout out to the graphic that was put together by
my guy.
Speaker 7 (01:14:21):
I got who they.
Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
Always comes through every time.
Speaker 7 (01:14:24):
I hate him.
Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
Of us say hey, this is what we want. A
lot of times he'll have graphics ready before he even
knows this is what I want to do. Shout out
to my right hand.
Speaker 7 (01:14:30):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:14:31):
Top five teams in the NFC is pretty easy. We've
been talking about it. Team one, Bingo, bango, bongo. We're
gonna go with the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 7 (01:14:38):
They deserve that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
They're in that space. Crazy that Green Bays nowhere in
there on this list. But you know what, we're Breiler's right,
We're Breiler's wrong. Guess what we're wrong about that? But
here we are one. Jared Goff too. We're gonna go
with the Buccaneers. Something about Baker Mayfield. He can find
that win at the end. He deserves too. Over the
last three years he's played out out standing lights all
(01:15:01):
great for his comeback story. Number three. Uh, this definitely
isn't quarterbacks. This must be teams. The Eagles, Philadelphia Eagles.
They lost last week.
Speaker 7 (01:15:10):
It happens.
Speaker 1 (01:15:10):
You're not gonna go through a team. You're not gonna
go through a season undefeated unless you're one of two
teams and one didn't win the Super Bowl. I think
where the Eagles are they're fine. This is what they
should be. They'll figure it out. It's early in the season.
They kind of bumped around a little bit last year
too before they finally figured it out. So three is
good enough for them.
Speaker 2 (01:15:28):
It's for San Francisco or the Rams, which which is
inverted that the team got.
Speaker 7 (01:15:34):
The update on the way it was.
Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
It was an update with with with Rams at.
Speaker 2 (01:15:38):
Four and then the Rams at four niners.
Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
I appreciate that. So the Rams are at four, and
even though the Rams lost to the forty nine ers,
I still don't trust the forty nine ers now, that
can be on me. That's why I says Pralan's top
five NFC teams. I still like the Rams. I think
they will figure it out. I think they are a
better team than the same go forty nine ors, So
flip them, and then with the forty nine ers, they're
(01:16:04):
surprised like what they're doing right now with mac Jones
doing with that team missing some defensive players, it looks
like something out there. It looks like mac Jones has
found a wide receiver that he's familiar with and Kendrick
Bourn too, So that looked good for them last week.
So give them five.
Speaker 2 (01:16:19):
Let's go TODAFC We're the Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
Cowboys is six. For me, Cowboys is six.
Speaker 2 (01:16:25):
So credit to Braylen because not a big brother. And
by the way, through one and a half, Casey Mice
with a couple of strikeouts, went high cheese to get
JP Crawford at ninety seven with runners at first and
second one nothing Seattle, kudos to you because you don't
like Brian Schottenheimer, you don't like Dak Prescott. No, they're
playing without Ceedee lamb facts and you've got them at six.
(01:16:47):
So give your credit because you're looking at every single
week you're trying not to hold a bias. We all
have biases.
Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
By the way, I like what I see out of
them too, and also too, I think this is gonna
be one of the things. Dare I say he's currently
appealing two hundred and fifty thousan dollars five for flicking
off the crowd in Dallas. This this could be an
interesting situation.
Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
Jerry wait, Jerry Jones said he meant to do thumbs.
Speaker 1 (01:17:07):
Up, thumbs up on the middle finger. Sometimes do these.
Speaker 2 (01:17:11):
People think we're stupid? Seriously? I mean, go on, well,
nobody does this and flips the finger and says, sorry,
I got him mixed up.
Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
Well, billionaires. They get away with a line like they're
gonna keep pressing the issue into somebody wholds Hi accountable.
So this is the line, This is the NFL trying
to hold him accountable, this situation with that going to
Green Bay, maybe being a little bit more injured. Like
Ryan was saying, I definitely think there's something to that.
The Dallas Cowboys, Michael Carson, Dallas defense being for lack
(01:17:41):
of a better word, better in some aspects. They shored
up that interior a little bit, some of the players
that he bought it for green Bay. What if we're
looking at the season where Dallas finishes throw something crazy.
They let's just say they win.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
Let's say they finished eleven wins.
Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
Let's say they win the division. Okay, they win the division,
they play a better defense, they got rid of Michael
Parsons this whole. Meanwhile, Green Bay falls apart. Michael Parsons
maybe injured a little bit more. Now it's like, holy shoot,
maybe Jerry Jones maybe he's not so seen now.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Uh you think that lets him off the hook, is
what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (01:18:14):
Yes, if there's more to what Micah is. Yes, if
green Bay just falls off, green Bay falls apart, No,
because Michael still Michael. If Micah is hurt, then yes,
he wants to dead.
Speaker 8 (01:18:27):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:18:27):
Let's Dallas, by the way. They got Carolina next.
Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
So look at that schedule. It's it's favorable.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
Yeah, that's a team that's two too and one. You
can see, yes, I said too too. You can see
them playing halfway decent for sure the rest of the way.
I don't know if that means winning the division. They're
not as good as Philly, true, but here's my question.
Are they as good as Washington?
Speaker 7 (01:18:47):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:18:48):
Okay, right now, it's a quick answer, Okay, right now. Yes,
what I've seen that Washington, that was a There's no
such thing as a lucky win. But that went from
Washington looked okay, It looked okay. But jayde and Daniels,
you can see that he's starting to get comfortable with
his health. And the reason I bring up that was
with the running back situations is a problem for them.
Speaker 2 (01:19:04):
The reason I bring up Dallas with you is because
I wanted to see if you were going to stay
Washington ahead of them. You did not, and Washington is
ahead of them. They're three in the standings of three
and two, and so that's your NFC.
Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
It works for the Cowboys. Cowboys got that push.
Speaker 2 (01:19:18):
That's right to time.
Speaker 1 (01:19:19):
They excuse me that that tie so lost from the
commanders win from their head.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Yeah, just that quick, surprising tie. How about the AFC.
Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
AFC is where he is interesting.
Speaker 2 (01:19:29):
It's interesting.
Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
AFC is where I went dirty, I went tricky. Here
we go, Josh Allen, even though they lost last week,
tell me a team better than them outside of Detroit Lions.
Don't worry.
Speaker 7 (01:19:40):
I will wait.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
Josh Allen is Josh Allen wait to I like that Salen.
Buffalo needs to worry though, because if the offensive coordinator
is gonna get if the offensive coordinator is not gonna
get James Cook involved, who want the best running backs
in the NFL, If he's gonna try to make Josh
Allen beat you with the past. And you don't have
a number one wide receiver, but you got great tight
ends or really good tight ends, you can fall into
(01:20:03):
some trouble, especially with the defense playing the way that
they're playing. You remember what they gave up against the Saints.
So they're number one, but they're not a dominant number one,
they're like number one home.
Speaker 2 (01:20:12):
Don't disagree with you. That's why I can't wait to
see where you have them ranked in your top ten overall.
I like that's a professional tease.
Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
You know what you got me with that, because I
kind of I blew mine. But it neither here, no,
just neither here nor that the Coats go to. I
believe what I'm seeing out of Shaan Stychen. I believe
what I'm seeing out of that defense. In the offense,
they're a team that is coming together. And when you
got guy like Jonathan, you got guy in the backfield
like Jonathan, like you, you can do a lot of
things with the Jonathan Taylor number three. I don't know how.
(01:20:41):
I don't know how, but I refuse to go against
the grand Why not. I don't believe in Trevor Lawrence,
but maybe as a defense, I believe in that defense.
I believe what Liam Cohen is trying to do. Don't
necessarily know if I like him yet, but I believe
in what he's trying to do offensively and where his
mind is at.
Speaker 2 (01:20:58):
I think I know I don't like him, but okay,
that's good.
Speaker 1 (01:21:00):
That's fair yeah. Same, so yeah, but I like where
they're at. They got an ugly win. I've never seen
a quarterback fall four times still score game, win a touchdown.
It was pretty amazing sight to be whole. But you
know what, sure, let's go with them there for you
because it will change clearly, bow Nicks, I was struggling
with this. I don't know where I feel about bow
(01:21:20):
and the Broncos, but for right now, I'm a reserved judgment.
I don't know if that defense is as good as
I thought it, and I don't know if that offense
is as good as I thought it. But I think
they're a team that I like it for. But they
have the ability to impress me. I think I'm open
for them being better and moving up. I'm also open
for them falling apart. I like Drake May. I like
(01:21:42):
Drake May. The boy can play some ball. He can
play some football. Believe Remember we were talking about the
leader aspect when you can just see it and just
looses it. And a quiet guy too, not necessarily, but
he is a player. And then Mike Rabel, you knew
what he was going to do on the defensive side
of the ball. The defensive side of the ball is
(01:22:03):
playing well. They're flying around a little bit, starting to
feel familiar. Why because Mike Rable knows all about what
it means to fly around as a New England page.
Speaker 2 (01:22:12):
I'm mad at myself now that I see yours. I'm
mad at myself because I took I took Buffalo, I
took Indy. I had the Broncos at three like an idiot.
I took the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
And Steelers' offensive line.
Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
Is real, probably the real problem to them. I'm not
mad about the Jacksonville. I don't know what it takes
to convince us, so I'm not convinced. I'm not saying
I'm right, you're right at four and one. How dare
I if my favorite team is.
Speaker 7 (01:22:40):
Four and one?
Speaker 1 (01:22:41):
But we're similar? No, it's similar because Pittsburgh's three on
one and I don't believe in them.
Speaker 2 (01:22:47):
Yeah, I get it, But I should have had New
England in there. I don't know why I put the
damn Chargers in there.
Speaker 1 (01:22:53):
The reason why myself, the reason why Pittsburgh is not
in here for me, I mean, it's very simple. It's
not rocket size. I'm more so waiting for them to
all apart. Versus waiting for this to content consistently get better. Yeah,
that's why.
Speaker 2 (01:23:04):
That's how I feel about Jacksonville.
Speaker 1 (01:23:06):
Well put, and I have to watch Pittsburgh because DK
Metcalf and kids game will are all my fantasy team.
And want to tell you when I watched. No, I'm
being honest, but fantasy will make you watch games, and
then when you watch, you're right, you start to understand
who the team is. He's not gonna watch the still is.
I'm like, man, this ain't it all right?
Speaker 2 (01:23:23):
If I give you I'm gonna give you, guys three teams,
and I want you to know if you're buying or selling,
and you would have to have this two up, two
down for the Tigers in the second. You would have
to have this the rest of the year. Okay, all right,
I'm gonna give you three teams. Kool aide, you're ready,
get out of your backpack, get ready, Here we go go. Indianapolis, Jacksonville,
(01:23:47):
San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (01:23:48):
I have to buy two.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
You have to put him in order. All right, you're
gonna buy for the rest of the season. I'm Indianapolis, Sorry, Briant, Indianapolis, Jacksonville,
San Francisco, Hell I'll throw Pittsburgh in. There is a four.
Rank them one through four for me. Chris Tiger's hit
of the day comes from Zach McKinstry, who was batting
fifty three on the year with two hours.
Speaker 1 (01:24:10):
Uh, that's easy. I'm buying the forty nine ers. I
got them at excuse me, I'm buying the coats. They're
number one, their number one, snipping clothes like the coach.
Legitimately might sneak into the playoffs as a number two seed,
maybe even number one.
Speaker 2 (01:24:23):
The way it looks like, hell, they may win their division.
Speaker 1 (01:24:25):
You're right, So yes, I'm buying them for sure. Forty
nine ers, I'm buying as well. I'm buying because what
if Mac Jones had been drafted by the San Francisco
forty nine ers. Like now, I'm starting to play these
games in my head. Kyle Shanahan, he's always been the
guy we give the credit to. Kevin O'Connell. Yes, Kevin
o'cannell is the new quarterback whispering. You've seen it happen
for him. Kate Shanahan's the o G Dude, what did
(01:24:46):
you say earlier? Kyle Shanahan's the og like Mac Jones
is playing. He didn't play this well in Alabama.
Speaker 2 (01:24:52):
But really, to back your weapons, what did you say
you said about the quarterbacks the reason you had them
or receivers, the reason you had them is because of
who's throwing the off right. Yeah, you're you're seeing the
same thing with quarterbacks. Look, the head coach of the
quarterback whisperer is making a difference.
Speaker 1 (01:25:11):
Is making a difference. And then you gotta go. You
got guys out there making plays. You got guys that
are not they're they're tired of hearing. And then also
the leader, the leader aspect by Christian McCaffrey, is giving
you everything he has. And when you play with a
guy like that, when you're on a team with a
guy who legitimately is put him out here, catch passes,
put him averay to catch passes, put him in the backfield,
put him at decoy, get to put him at direction. Now,
(01:25:32):
every time he gets hit, everyone in San France is cringing,
is he because they know that he's the end all
be off of them and he's still delivering. I buy
the forty nine ers because I buy the head coach.
Speaker 2 (01:25:41):
Could you could you make the argument now that he's
healthy again, that he's the best back.
Speaker 1 (01:25:45):
In football until I see it happen between the tackles now,
because right now, and that's probably because the offensive line
is kind of patchworky right now, but.
Speaker 2 (01:25:53):
Because you and I were just talking about Jonathan Taylor,
bless you.
Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
John to Taylor is better than christ McCaffrey between tackles
right now.
Speaker 2 (01:25:58):
Okay, that's running backs if you were, if you were
to rank them. John Robinson's in there, Jamier.
Speaker 1 (01:26:03):
Gibbson the season were talking about like right now, right now, it's.
Speaker 2 (01:26:08):
A curveball everybody, but nobody's ball to center by Dylan da.
Speaker 1 (01:26:11):
Nobody's really killing it at the running back position right now,
Jamier Gibbs is.
Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
Just don't overthink it. I want Braylan Edwards, as an
eight year NFL player and a pro bowler, to tell
me who the best five running backs in the NFL
are right now.
Speaker 1 (01:26:25):
Jonathan Taylor, b jeonn Robinson.
Speaker 2 (01:26:35):
Christian McCaffrey has got to be in there, Christian McCaffrey,
Jamier Gibbs, Jamier and Kira Okay, he's got yes, okay, guys,
uh right before we hit a break, Ryan kool Aid wonderful.
Speaker 1 (01:26:55):
That's the teams the team to sell the Stillers.
Speaker 2 (01:26:57):
Tell tell me the teams you guys would rank it?
Are you believing it?
Speaker 3 (01:27:01):
Niners one, I'm gonna take the Jacks two, Colts three,
and oh no, I said, the Steelers are my sneaky
playoff team too.
Speaker 2 (01:27:11):
Four kool Aid.
Speaker 6 (01:27:13):
Yeah, Oh my goodness, I'm gonna actually go Colts one. Okay,
whatever weird reason Steelers two? Wow, Niners three.
Speaker 2 (01:27:22):
I like the Steelers, so then the Jacks.
Speaker 4 (01:27:24):
Then the Jacks. For whatever reason, I like what the
Jacks look like.
Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
I just just something that popped into my mind. That's
all something that popped into my mouth. This Buddy's pizza
right here. Great?
Speaker 1 (01:27:36):
Also, could you have Brian Also with Philly. This is
also with Philly. When you look at them, I know
they're on the other screen. When you look at Philly,
you talking about what's going on, they're still blah blah blah.
Every year they change the offensive coordinator and it starts
them over. It resets the continuity that they've built. They
reset the offensive coordinator after the first Super Bowl. Who
(01:27:57):
we're just talking about Shane Steichen, and it lo abominable
for the Philadelphia Eagles in twenty two. It looked like
it was a horrible season. They snuck into the playoffs, injuries,
whatever you have, it just did not look at off offensively.
Then you bring in Kellen Moore. Kella Moore leaves doallars.
He comes there. It looks amazing again. And here you go,
you rocking and rolling. Say Kuwon goes for two k.
(01:28:19):
Everybody's happy. You win the Super Bowl. Bob's your uncle.
And now you go all have to get rid of
Kellen Moore because he leaves. He takes a job with
the same thing. You got another offensive coordinator like you.
You remember the very first conversation that Shane Stinken had
about Jalen Hurts. This is very pivotal for Eagles fans.
We met him where he was, We met him where
(01:28:41):
it was, coach to his strengths. One understand all the
conversations about what he is not, We don't care about that.
Speaker 7 (01:28:46):
What is he?
Speaker 1 (01:28:46):
Let's work from there, like that's what the offensive coordinator
needs to do right now with these Eagles. Who is
Jalen Hurst? Who does he want to be? Where's he comfortable?
You paid him two hundred and thirty million dollars. He
won you Super Bowl and Super Bowl MVP. You gotta
work better with him because like that you're right about
you keep changing it every year. So at least if
you're gonna change, you bring somebody in that the start
(01:29:08):
is easier, that the process is easier, because Eagles feel
very similar to what they did in twenty twenty two.
Speaker 7 (01:29:13):
I love that.
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
I mean, it messed up my transition to the Buddies read,
but it was a beautiful soliqua. No, it's okay, I
love it. It's I'd rather listen to that for sure.
But if I'm going to eat, I'd rather eat Buddies,
and Buddies brought us some wonderful pizza today. Shout out
Yes kool Aid. Shout out to the folks at Breadenhalf
and Woodward and Katie, their manager for hooking us up
with the Battle for the Houses. You got the Wolverine,
(01:29:37):
you got the State Square, and then we've also got
your traditional Buddies where they've been doing it for seventy
nine years better than anybody in the state, anybody in
the Midwest. When people come here from out of town, Chicago,
New York, whatever, they want a Detroit style pizza.
Speaker 7 (01:29:51):
You know where they go.
Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
You know where we send them. We send them to Buddies.
You should too Buddiespizza dot com.
Speaker 15 (01:29:55):
And let me tell you people about Wicked pick who
makes you going ahead.
Speaker 4 (01:29:58):
And scan that QR cold of O. My ahead and
get a jump on things.
Speaker 2 (01:30:02):
Get the jump, yeah, get a job.
Speaker 15 (01:30:03):
Look, if you look for the ultimate pickleball experience, it
is Wicked.

Speaker 1 (01:32:44):
May bring that conversation back here. Look, before we went
to break and I was talking about what's going on
in Philly. Shep I was talking about how they go
to the Super Bowl and then they replaced Shane Steinking
does not work out. They have an Obama season. Offensively,
they make it to the playoffs, they don't win division.
Guess what happens in the playoffs?
Speaker 7 (01:33:01):
They lose.
Speaker 1 (01:33:02):
Shocker, they go home. Insert Keller Moore leaves the Dallas Cowboys.
Now you get this thing rocking and rolling. Now it
looks like something. Now say, Kwan, you bring him over
from the Giants. Don't understand how the Cohen family let
that happen. Not the Cohen family, but Shane Joe Shane. Yeah, okay, anyway,
(01:33:23):
you bring Sakuan over two thousand yards, you win the
Super Bowl. Now Keller Moore is gone. Now it looks abominable.
Yet again, what did.
Speaker 7 (01:33:30):
The Eagles do?
Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
They go out and get a coordinator? Where's this coordinator from?
Where's the connection? Where's the template? Does he understand who
Jalen Hurts really is? Does he understand what Jalen Hurts
really wants to be? Doesn't seem that way so far.
And now you see a Philly Eagle team that's four
and one, but they look more like a team that's
two and three. Aren't you happy, Detroit that you hired
Johnny Moore? Excuse me? Aren't you happy that Dan Campbell
(01:33:54):
hired Johnny Moore? An individual that was here an individual
that knew this team, an individual that put this help
put the offense in some of the nuances understial what
the identity is so that when he came here the
players still feel comple It's the same offense that they've
had success and with some changes here something like this.
(01:34:15):
Kudos kudos to Dan Campbell.
Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
Dude, we've been to Johnny mo.
Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
Yeah, we've been talking aboutkel a long time and rightfully so.
John Morton's offense is on pace to become the second
highest scoring offense in NFL history, second highest in NFL hit.
I mean, we've got a long way to go, but
to your point, that's just it. In case he might
have just struck out Jogete Polanco still won nothing Seattle. Mace,
by the way, has six strikers and you know what,
(01:34:40):
he's got six strikeouts. He struck out Polanco twice, Judeo
Rodriguez twice, cal Rawley once. That's five. I figured who
the other one is?
Speaker 4 (01:34:47):
Like a number two today?
Speaker 6 (01:34:48):
But you know, yeah, what's interesting is when this happened
early in the season last year with Ben Johnson, after
they started to find this drive by week four, five
and six, everyone started calling Ben Johnson the genius. I
still don't really hear people giving, you know, Johnny mo
like they're saying, wow, look at the line's offense and
the players they have. I thought that those players were
going to get stunted because, you know, Dan Campbell apparently
(01:35:10):
has rocks in his brain and Johnny mo is just
his friend.
Speaker 2 (01:35:13):
Thank you, well said, No it is that's really well said. Oh,
you're just bringing in your friend. Find me somebody who
has a power position. Who doesn't bring in somebody when
they're when they're starting a job, who they're comfortable with
and they trust. Can can anybody? So of course you're
(01:35:34):
going to do that. If I were a football head
coach and I wanted somebody to coach my receivers, who
would I bring in somebody I know, somebody I trust,
and then I roll with it that way? Why is
this so odd? Why is this not obvious to everybody?
Regarding Dan Campbell and what he did with john Morning.
It's not like he brought in somebody off the couch
(01:35:54):
who's never coached before.
Speaker 1 (01:35:56):
The only thing that last year's offense was better better
than this year's offense has nothing to do with Johnny
Moore and that was the run game between the tackles.
I know every time my comp hear and say between tackles,
you guys are like, yeah, but Dave Montgomery did this game?
Or what about these yards? They're not running the ball
particularly well between the tackles. A lot of stuff is
(01:36:16):
going outside. But you know why that's because there's not
Kevin Zeiler at right guard. There's an individual in Tate
Rallies that is getting better week by week. But what
you don't know as a thirteen year starter in this league,
a four or five time pro bowler with Kevin Zeiler
new you're learning, you're figuring out on the fly. There's
some things that Kevin Zeiler would be able to recognize
before Tate Rallys has with his young eyes. You have
(01:36:38):
to replace your center. Graham Glasgow is doing a hell
of a job for it. He ain't Frank Ragnow and
I use aim for effect with all due respect. He's
not Frank Ragnan. He's figuring it out. He's getting damn good.
You trust him. And then you have a left guard
that is not Graham Glasgow, who got comfortable of playing
in that role last year. So you're figuring out the
offensive line. That's the only thing that they're not doing
(01:37:00):
better this year than they did last year. It has
nothing to do with Johnny Moore, has to do with personnel.
Speaker 2 (01:37:05):
But it's fun to watch. All right, let's when your
top ten teams real quick. Then we got to get
the nail back. Then we're out of here again. They're
three two and a half. Seattle leads at one nothing,
they're in the bottom of the third Casey Mice has
six punch outs so far. Let's get to your top
ten the other.
Speaker 1 (01:37:16):
All right, here we go. You'll see the AFC is
bottom heavy.
Speaker 10 (01:37:19):
Here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:37:20):
Is it's one two? Actually, so all ends two. Here
we go. Broncos will put them at ten. I think
they could be better. We'll figure it out. Now here's
where it gets triggy. Dallas was not in the top five.
They were not in the top five. However, they're in
my top ten. I think they're one of the top
ten teams in the league, regardless of what the record says.
(01:37:40):
Dak's playing MVP level ball. Now he does this in
the regular season, We'll see how it transpires. Right on
their nine eight forty nine ers, Sign me up.
Speaker 7 (01:37:48):
We believe in them.
Speaker 1 (01:37:49):
I believe them second under the Coats, but I do
believe in them. I believe in the head man, Kyle
Shan And you know what form won the Jaguars. My
brother in law still head the player development down there
to Marcus Pollard. See, I didn't say shout out, I
said kudos number six, Matt Stafford. That was a sneaky
way to sneak shout out in there. Matt Stafford coming
in number six with the Los Angeles Rams would have
(01:38:10):
them higher. But they have lost two games. In one
game they completely blue in Philly. The other game forty nine.
Just want anymore they have, and they had three fumbals
and five drops five The Eagles, like, for everything I
said about them, they still are four to one. They's
still a reigning defending You get that type of respect.
(01:38:31):
But guess what, my respect. It knows bounds. It knows bounds,
it knows bounds. You better look like something this week, Philly.
Speaker 7 (01:38:38):
You're better four.
Speaker 1 (01:38:40):
It's the Coats. We'll see how that plays out. Three
is Baker Mayfield. Now I know Chef's gonna ask why
I said all that about Buffalo and then still put
them in two because they have the reigning defending MVP,
and until it looks like he's not an MVP type
of quarterback, I'll have them too, as long as they win.
And then number one is very obvious. And remember we
said number one before this week where everybody's jumping on
(01:39:02):
the bandwagon. Now Pro Football Focus and this place, in
that place, in this sight and this sight what were
Sports Network specifically? Brother never was in CHEP show. We
told you before last week the Lions team was trending
towards number one, and I wouldn't have a problem two
weeks ago putting them number one, but I put him
in three. Last week, I put him at one over
your Eagles. You told me I was crazy. And then
(01:39:23):
they go out there and get.
Speaker 2 (01:39:24):
Popped from the chat Jack Stark, Tiger's batter is making
another pitcher look like an All star again. It'll be
interesting to see how far Bryce Miller goes here today
eighteen starts during the regular season, career numbers pretty good
against detri.
Speaker 1 (01:39:39):
Shit a home run right now on camera, carry just
hit Let's.
Speaker 2 (01:39:42):
See if you called it on this one pitch the carpenter.
Now he's in an O two hole, two outs in
the Tigers half of the third. All right, how about
the mail bag? Real quick, already got out.
Speaker 6 (01:39:57):
We got Michael Werry two dollars super chess other one,
he says. He still says that the Lions are gonna
win big over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 2 (01:40:05):
Why there's White's Kansas City favored in that game? Does
anybody know it's got to be the injuries?
Speaker 10 (01:40:09):
Do you think?
Speaker 1 (01:40:09):
Because the game and they just it's a home game,
they lost and where they're good at where they're good
right now we're bad. They're good at the.
Speaker 2 (01:40:17):
What go ahead?
Speaker 1 (01:40:19):
Were about to say it's the Chiefs. I think it's
well one. I think he's probably correct because they know
the refs are gonna help, at least attempt to help.
Speaker 3 (01:40:29):
But oh, you mean Mahomes just going up to the
raft to make sure I know that's good touchdown.
Speaker 1 (01:40:33):
It's Mahomes at home and they just came off a loss,
so I think more so it's one of those things
you look at their record coming off of a loss,
desperation blah blah blah, doesn't matter. They're gonna lose, but yeah,
they gonna make a light money. I could see them
being ranked. Oh, Mahomes is mad he's ready. They're gonna
come back with a fire. They lost that game and
blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
Who's gonna cover Travis Kelce?
Speaker 4 (01:40:56):
Who cares?
Speaker 2 (01:40:57):
Father time, we will talk more about a Kerry Carpenter
struck out pitch that left the zone. So three up
and three down for Bryce f and Miller. I'm sorry,
Bryce Miller and Seattle. We are through three. Seattle leads
it one. Nothing we'll be talking about. Will there be
a game five? And we'll talk about Lions and Chiefs.
Plus Doctor Pierce will be with us tomorrow here on
(01:41:21):
Thursday night football and Red Wings season opener. All that
coming up tomorrow afternoon on Woodward Sports on the Brailan
