Speaker 3 (00:46):
On the Woodwards Sports Networks where sports comes to life.
Speaker 2 (00:51):
Well absolutely, let's go okay, what's going on? How you doing? Everybody?
Glad you're with us on this Tuesday on the Brailan
Edwards Show on Woodward Sports. Brendan is with us, kool
Aid is with us as well. It's kind of a
it's kind of a dark day outside, you know, it's cloudy.
We have these in Michigan. I hope it doesn't let
people get them done. This is the reason days like
this though, My buddy says to me all the time,
(01:13):
he says, just do me a favor, jump on seventy
five and drive south until you get to Atlanta, and
then you're all sat because this is part.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
Of the limit Pepper Wings.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
This is part of the reason he left. He's like, okay,
I can't. I mean, it's too much of a it's
too much of a downer.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
It doesn't get me down, you know, because we get
to come in here two to four every day and
talk sports. How much better does it get than that?
But I can understand why some people get a little,
a little droopy on a day like this, can't you?
Speaker 5 (01:43):
So twofold? Is it time to talk about the pistons yet? Okay,
I got happy. I digress. We could talk about them
a little bit later. You know what, this is the
bad stuff because I lived in Seattle, and for what
people say about Seattle as it relates to the rain,
it doesn't rain. It doesn't rain rain every day. It's
some light drizzle here or there. But in terms of greatness,
(02:07):
definitely leads the nation in great days. And that's why, well,
I mean, that's a little more of it. But that's
why they have a rate that is higher than everybody
else's state. If you know where I'm going. But it
looks like this, probably two hundred and two forty out
of three sixty five, and Seattle looks like this. Yeah,
so I would say to this, I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
I'm not say if there's one place outside of where
we live because we love our community, right, we love
our people. I've always said this. The Midwest is different,
all right, I mean just just better people. Where would
it be in the country, Where would you live? Well?
Speaker 5 (02:44):
I live, Like when I was playing the NFL, I
stayed in Miami for our p obvious reasons. Fun sun
whole nine yards like that was cool's state of Florida. Uh,
Chicago's a beautiful place, especially in the summertime. The Chicago
Michigan Avenue. Man may be undefeated in that right. But live, Yeah,
live is tough, Like Live is a tough spot. I've
(03:06):
grown accustomed to the Midwest. I'm going to accustom to
the four seasons. Accustomed to that's a big deal. The
four seasons loves a big season.
Speaker 2 (03:13):
Fellow fashion same here, and we're not talking about hotel.
We're talking about four season.
Speaker 5 (03:17):
Four seasons double down in that if I can live
anywhere else, okay, I'll make a decision, it'd be somewhere
in Florida, probably just because of that weather.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Or New York.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
I'm in New York, Are you really like I was?
I love New York before I played for the Jets,
like you lived in New Jersey. I did, But I
spend well, that's because the facility is way out there
and it's forty It's forty minutes from the cities, I gotcha.
So for me, I wasn't the morning person. Then I'm
not waking up and jumping in the Lincoln Tunnel where
the Hohland Tunnel every morning at five thirty am so
that I can get weight. Now, that's not me at
(03:49):
five thirty m. I might just be getting in from
You're not taking any train either, I might just I
might just be getting in at five thirty back in
the day. But it's something about big cities and something
about like the lights, the honking of calves now ubers
and traffic, and you look up and you can see
skyscrapers and lights and billboards and ads and people walking
across the street. Like I've always been attracted to that
(04:10):
type of energy and the hustle and bustle. So even
though it's not warm shoes, you know what I'm saying,
The chickens right in New York. The chickens.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Okay, all right, kool Aid, how about you?
Speaker 4 (04:23):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (04:24):
For me, it's either Orlando or somewhere between Tennessee and Alabama.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
Man, I like to eat the warmer climate.
Speaker 6 (04:31):
My mama's a Southern girl, spent summers down with Grandma
and South Carolina and such.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
So for me, it would be one of those two spots.
Speaker 6 (04:38):
Man, for sure love Orlando. That's the place we took
a lot of trips to when we were growing up.
And I feel like I know everything about it already.
But you're already comfortable there.
Speaker 5 (04:49):
The whole family coming.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
If they can stomach you for that long chure. Why not?
Speaker 5 (04:53):
First of all, I am, I would say, I would
say Houston, Tech Okay.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
So he's gone Florida to New York. Now Houston, all right?
Speaker 5 (05:07):
Because kool A made it make sense. You know, I'm
talking about New York. I love New York. But weather
is a real thing. I'm talking about living. It's got
to be somewhere warm weather that's why I'm a stomach
for the rest of my life. Give me Houston. My
dad played for the Oilers. We know the area, and
my dad still frequents Houston. The butcher Wolfolk played for
Michigan back in the day and played.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
With big city city and a good city A lot.
There really good restaurants in Houston.
Speaker 7 (05:31):
Okay, yeah, absolutely, give you the Ribs, give it the state.
Give me I can't say that because you know, uh yeah, yeah,
well you kind of already did when you say Tennessee cooler?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
Are you thinking Knoxville? What are you thinking?
Speaker 4 (05:45):
I mean, I like a city. I like, yeah, I'm
telling you I love Nashville.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
But Nashville is a very cool time.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (05:53):
If I got family and Murphy's bro uncle tea middle
Middle Tennessee. Yes, Sirry, so that's that's a family connected
to take six all all through that man.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
It no way, man, I mean people would, but I
would say Nashville is a good place for for younger
people like Brendan.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
I like state Line too.
Speaker 6 (06:14):
I'm before I like like state Line more of the country,
feel the water, the nature, getting out, I like that.
Speaker 3 (06:21):
Man.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
My sons doyn't want me to get them in the hunting.
So I'm like, you know, what, are you a hunter?
Might I have gone, I'm not.
Speaker 6 (06:27):
A hunter, but my friends did when I grew up,
and so we would go on trips and things that nature.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
My kids, they want to get all the way into.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
It, aross bowl or rifle.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
He wants a boat, So we're gonna look at some bows.
We gotta have a rifle too, though.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Got uh, you're talking deer hunting or you're just talking.
You're talking pheasants? Are you talking? Are you talking big.
Speaker 4 (06:48):
D I let them pick. They talk about let's at
least go after deer.
Speaker 6 (06:52):
I'm like, at least so they got They ain't got big,
big game plans in mind, but they think starting with
the deer is like the appropriate.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
Do you guys watch any of those hunting shows. No,
Oh dude, man, I get caught up in that stuff.
I get caught up in some of those things, and
I am like, man. So last night.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
After Pistons games, I'm like, old dude.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Last night during halftime, I watched just a quick segment.
This guy was out big game hunting. He's usually he's
from Detroit. He's from Michigan and usually he's out hunting,
you know, elk or something like that. But he's out
He's in Africa and he's he's hunting Cape Buffalo. I'm like, dude,
you could be walking down this brush and out of
(07:35):
nowhere here comes you know, Lisa the leopard, and right
here comes you know, a lion who's pretty hungry. That
would scare the hell out of me being out there.
Speaker 5 (07:45):
I wish he did. Like, I don't play that. I'm
not a hunter and I'm for for for a tough
NFL guy. You know, I'm a softie when it comes
to the animals. Yeah, I don't do all the hunting stuff.
So all those people that going I got to go
to man camp right for you, I'm doing that these
animals alone.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Pheasant hunting is cool.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
So I've been deer hunting. Pheasant hunting, I think it's
I think it's necessary, at least.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
At least with deers. You know what I'm saying. You
see them all the time in my yard and all that,
and so in the driveways you see him mess up cars.
So I understand that I have a problem with the deers.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
Okay, all right, if you could live anywhere outside of
this area. Bewhere would it be?
Speaker 8 (08:25):
Nashville was a really really good answer.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
I would have to go Tampa, though.
Speaker 5 (08:30):
Family. I like that, I love I love the bang
for your buck real estate wise, and the places we
name it is Florida, Bang for your buck, Florida again,
bang for your buck, Nashville, Tennessee. You get somebody bang
for your buck, no state tax in Texas.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Florida, you know what I saying.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
Or Florida.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I can't say that about New York. So that would
be all really, that would be all really really good stuff.
I would say just to add to those, because I
think they're all ex one answers. I probably like Dallas
a little bit more than Houston, but I do. I
do love the state of Texas. I loved I loved Nashville,
absolutely love Nashville, and Tampa would be probably the place
(09:13):
for me in in Florida area. Ashville, North Carolina is really.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Nice, so so green. You just visited there like three
weeks ago and.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
They loved it, Yeah, loved it. Yeah. So I need
a place where you know, I'm gonna play golf and
brayl is gonna come in and play golf with me
a little bit. So I've gotta have I've gotta have that.
Carolina is great golf, it is. I wouldn't mind South
Carolina either. But there's you know, you can run into
the hurricane season there. That's the problem, and that could
be a slight problem with Tampa and and to be
(09:43):
honest with you, you guys, that's the beauty of where
we are at.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
We have.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
No we're yeah, not really. I mean there's tornadoes in
certain places, I mean right, but overall, I mean, if
you can stomach, yeah, earthquakes, Yeah, you don't have to
worry about that.
Speaker 8 (10:04):
Yeah, So Measley tornado every now and then, with good people,
with good people.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Speaking of hurricanes, Uh, the Pistons are kicking the crap
out of everybody. They win another game last night without Can,
without Kid cunahand without Tobias Harris and I try not
to get caught up in our in our silo here,
but we said before the season began, this was a
good conversation. We said, I'd like to see Jalen Duran
(10:32):
expand his offensive game and play more minutes.
Speaker 9 (10:36):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Nobody knows how to delegate the minutes better than JB. Bickerstaff,
he's not a superstar, but he's a star. He's he's
on his way to being a star. Kate Cunningham is
a superstar. Jalen Duran's becoming a star. He's gonna make
a lot of money. That dude, can I borrow your
That brother is gonna make a lot of bread. Okay?
And rightfully, so what I love most about last night,
(10:57):
Sure everyone can get caught up in the thirty one
and fifteen twelve for thirteen. Here's what I love most.
There were two plays, Okay, One was he brought the
ball three quarter court, took it down close to the
right low post, did a spin move and hit a
fadeaway jumper from the right mid block. That was one
and number two, he was coming down the left side,
(11:19):
got a pass and hit what cool aid fifteen foot jumper,
fourteen foot fifteen sixteen foot jumper. And I'm like, you
know what, hell, yeah, that's what you're hoping to see.
But on top of that, what Jamie Bickerstaff said after
the game last night, I thought was brilliant. While we
get caught up, Oh there's the l oop, here's the
putback dunk. He's catching it. Decking it, moving his feet,
(11:42):
finding different ways to get the ball up and in.
I think he's expanded his game. I think it's going
to continue. I love that he's really good at the
free throw line. I love the energy he's playing with.
He's twenty two flipping years old. We should be happy birthday, Jalender.
We should all be really really happy that he's on
as an a Piston's uniform.
Speaker 5 (12:04):
YE want him saying everything you say. He's gonna He's
definitely gonna make some bread. Jack likes to say, and
also too, you see that twenty two year old. But
I'm glad that you started talking about J. B. Bigger Staff.
You can tell that these players are listening to a JB.
Bigger Staff and his staff are quoting on or what
they're saying or what they're teaching, because he's gotten so
much better from year to year under J. B. Bigger Staff.
(12:24):
I remember when I first saw him, I thought, I say,
here's a guy, athletic, young guy, young bull. You know,
he's an all you guy. It's probably gonna be Andre
DeAndre Jordan type cat. I said, he's gonna cat catching
Ali yous getting put backs. You know, Andre drumming type
player built in that mold, if you will, Maybe not
even a skilled because Andre drummer had the Yukon thing
going for him. But as you've watched him, he's developed
(12:46):
more pieces to that bag. As we talked about, he's
gotten more comfortable. Last night, Chef, you didn't do the
move justice, So I'm gonna go ahead do the move.
In the words of my boy fill A, he definitely
bought the quart up, bought the quarter up three quarter
when he got it, and he went twing twin behind
the back set up. Has he stopped, dropped it? Nothing
but the bottom of the that chink, nothing but the
(13:09):
bottom of that. And then it's just the comfortability. And
as he's doing it, who he's looking down the sideline,
He's looking at k You take your time, You take
your time. And I'm saying that as jokes, but I'm
also saying that it's serious. I'm now in a space
where I'm comfortable.
Speaker 10 (13:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:22):
They was playing the Pacers, and the Pacers don't have
a soul, lady, and they lost their soul. No Miles Turner,
no Tyres Halibert, who cares? This is an NBA game
in which these guys felt confident. It was fun to watch,
and he's getting better in all regards the shooting percentage,
the shooting, the free throw percentage. His percentage is the
numbers and where they're at. This is good basketball, man.
It says a lot about the coach, says a lot
(13:44):
about what those boys are doing on West Gream Boulevard
when they're not in the LCA.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
So they're also really fun. I know this shouldn't matter
all that much, jinkins on the baseline, No, but we've
talked about how how much the Lions are fun to watch.
Usually Okay, when the Tigers were rolling, we enjoyed them
going first to third on a regular basis and doing
some things that especially in the power game. This team
plays an exciting brand of basketball that I think, you know,
(14:10):
welcomes anybody else who's been a little late to that
proverbial party. But I've said this before. I love what
I love most about JB. Bickerstep. He makes younger players better,
and that is a that's part of his resume. Can
he take this team all the way? I don't see
why he wouldn't be able to. I think he can.
(14:32):
I think they're so well connected I'd ask you all
you guys, this is Kate Cunningham and Jalen Durhan among
the best guard center combinations in the NBA. Before you
answer with your heart and because of what he did
last night, I just want you to think long and
(14:52):
hard about it. Are they among the best in the
NBA as that conbo.
Speaker 5 (14:59):
No, but they have potential to be, like you're talking
about among the best. The best have done it. When
you talk about Yoki Chamurry, whether you believe in him,
Yoki Chamury have done it. When you talk about Chet
and Shay Chat and Shae are world chimps right now
when you look at what that looks like. So and
then there was one.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
Other one that Mitchell and Mobile right yeah, I would
also sit in town. I think those are the top four.
Speaker 5 (15:23):
But the potential is there because you see guys getting better.
One thing about J. B. Bickerstaff, He's not just making
Jalen Doran and the other guys better and empowering them
to find and learn their game and get better. He's
turning k from a potential superstar to pass the superstar
is what he's doing as well. So the potential is there, man,
and you watch it season was good. They looking consistent.
(15:45):
Also shot them with dank Rominson seems like he's finding
the bottom of the three point now. It was good
to see. But yes, they are on their way to
that because the only thing that they have on ahead
of those guys is they just have more time together.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
You have more time together. I was at the gym
this morning and I heard two guys chatting it up
about the Pistons game last night, and one said to
the end, yeah it is. It was really cool. One
guy said to the other, would you take Kaid Cunningham
or Shy Alexander? Of course he didn't even know him,
and I felt like, you mean Shay Gilch is Alexander
(16:18):
the MVP of the league anyway, so he said. The
one guy said, well, I would take Alexander. He said,
but I'm not from here. And the other guy looked
at he says, yeah, I would take Kaid Cunningham, and
of course he's from here. I don't think there's a
wrong answer to that, and I'm not sure many of
us would have said that even a year ago, because
Shay Giltes Alexander is really good. He gets to the
(16:39):
line a lot more than kid Cunningham. But I love
the fact that people have that discussion, that that's where
they feel he is, even though he didn't even play
last night.
Speaker 9 (16:50):
I was.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
And it's funny too. As I started talking, I'm looking
to my right because no kool Ai is gonna get excited.
I was thinking about that at first, and I'm like,
it's not really a question, and then he break that
question down and you look at it. Well, Kate has
built that up over time in the same place, and
he had a franchise thrust onto his shoulders. Now he
went first overall, that's what happens with that.
Speaker 10 (17:10):
But he had a bad.
Speaker 5 (17:11):
Franchise, a traditionally horrible franchise, thrust up on his shoulders.
And now out of the ashes like the phoenix, you know,
he and his tent like the phoenix. I I'm saying
fourteen to forty four, and you see what they're doing now.
So this looks very much like twenty four lions and
twenty three maybe last year. But why not shake Gilgers?
(17:32):
How many stops before he got to Okay? See, now
he's in OKC and he's got checked around him, He's
got lou Dort around him. You got well around him.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
He makes them better, I think for sure, just like
Kate makes everybody around.
Speaker 5 (17:43):
Player for player, Like I know what Kate is, I
know what Shaye is. I'm not saying I would take Ky,
but I'm saying it's a hard decision.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
When you break it down like that, it makes you
think it does and you wouldn't have thought that before.
Speaker 5 (17:56):
Him and Shade Slamm dunk him being the MVP, right.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
But the only thing I would say is what I
really respect about Shay gilchis Alexander is he's been available
on a regular basis. He didn't miss many games, if
many at all. If you look at his if you
look at his career, Okay, see started with the Clippers,
played eighty two games his rookie season, all right, then
it's seventy and then you get to well, the shortened season,
(18:20):
and then you get sixty eight, seventy five, seventy six.
He's playing a lot of games, you know, And that's
that's not necessarily Ky Cunningham's fault because MVP clip, Yeah,
at an MVP clip. It's not necessarily Kake Cunningham's fault
because he was injured. But you know, twelve games, sixty
two games. You need more from that. Last year he
gave his seventy, which is great if he's giving me,
(18:41):
you know, seventy five games or so. And that's what
the greats do. The greats do that they don't miss games.
Jordan didn't miss games, Bird didn't miss games. I mean,
that's the the.
Speaker 6 (18:51):
Greats of an era. The current greats miss games since
you Kawhi Lebron. Yeah, And that's where I do appreciate
the fact that we see k a number of games
mis get, you know, smaller than over his first couple
of years when they were trying to figure out the
shyn injury.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
Like, he's a guy that I know wants to play.
Speaker 6 (19:08):
And I remember even when they talked about taking him
off of that year, he didn't actually want to have
that surgery.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
Oh I know two years ago. Yeah, when he played
sixty four and they're like, we're shutting you down. He
wanted to play. I know that, there's no doubt about him.
That's great, that's who he is. But that that's my
point is, I don't care about the era. I care
about the player, and I think the player is going
to give you that on a regular basis. He's going
to give you if you're getting, you know, seventy games
(19:33):
a year from him, seventy to seventy five games a
year during the regular season. I think that's a good
thing from him, don't you. Well I can live with that.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
One hundred percent.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
You know, just looking at this team, you talk about
the top pairings, Yeah, they have a ways to go
as it relates to the players in front of them
that have won and have kind of had the playoff
experience and such. But in terms of their trajectory and
their art, as long as they keep this up, they're
going to be one of the top three hans, one
of the top three point guard center tandems in all
(20:03):
of the NBA. You look at some of the ones
that I believe they're on the heels of right now.
When you look at Kat and Jalen Brunson, I do
believe that right now they're in a position where you
go into this playoffs, you you go on just a
little bit further than them, and you still get this
Jalen during that we've been seeing, they're going to have
a great claim to one of those top three spots.
And they have been already. You know, the best Lob connection.
(20:25):
They are the best pick and roll connection right now,
you know, and with an expansion of Duran's talents and
skill sets, and you see Kate Cunningham being able to
step closer to that thirty points without sacrificing the assists.
That's a lot going on, Like during thirty fifteen ninety
percent up from the floor, the first player to do
that since Dwight Howard in twenty ten.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Bro cool A. I will say this though, excuse me,
not shit shit, you know, they kind of sound a
little bit a little bit. I will say this though
to your question, I think as it relates to the
totality of players in that duo, like, I don't think
there's any due on this. It's better than playing both
sides of the floor as a duo, except and I
wouldn't even say Mitchell and Mobley because even though Mobley's
on both sides, Donavian Mitchell doesn't play necessarily the best defense.
(21:09):
If you're talking about playing on offense, playing on defense,
being able to do all the things, none of these
duos do it. Like Jayalen Doran and Kate Cunham. It's
playing on both sides of the floor.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
None of the that's I think that's really important. You know,
I've I've always been a big proponent of that. If
if I'm going to give an MVP vote, if I'm
going to give some type of special postseason award, I
want to see it on both sides.
Speaker 4 (21:33):
Best defensive.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Now, I got I got all kinds of ridicule because
they said that about Luka Doncic and people are like,
oh my god, what are you talking about. This guy
can score, and I'm like, wait a minute, hold on
a second, Okay, if I'm going to be consistent, and
I did that against James Harden and I wasn't a
huge James Harden fan, I would say the same thing
with with Luka Doncic. The Cunningham to Duram combo produces
(21:56):
the most ball screen pairings in the league, which I
think is pretty interesting. And what I like most about
what you just said is Duran changes the game at
both sides of the floor. I understand the patriotic love
for Isaiah Stewart. I've always said, though, the best athlete
(22:17):
for this team besides Kate Cunningham is Jalen Durhan. That's
who you need, and that's a big deal, right now.
And that's a big reason. Remember this. He was listed
as probable, you guys last night, he was listed as
probable because of the ankle, and he goes out and
goes twelve for thirteen, thirty one and fifteen. Look at
(22:37):
his last five games, man, he is dominating teams. And
here's the other thing. If you compare him to a
lot of the really good centers in the league, I'm
not comparing him to Jokich. He's a freak. Okay, it's ridiculous.
You don't even go to his own level. Okay, it's
a different level. He doesn't take that many shots. Now,
(22:58):
it's a career high eleven field goal attempts per game.
But he's not taking nearly the type of shots that
a lot of these other tent.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
And it's not all passes now, not that's that's what
I'm He's got more patient shep.
Speaker 6 (23:13):
We talked about this at the golf course, We talked
about this on the show before the season leading up
to it, and we kept saying, now, Jaylen Durham's won
that we think has to take that next step.
Speaker 4 (23:20):
We were bullets on us, are bullets on what Ivy
could be.
Speaker 6 (23:23):
But we kept talking about if Durren actually can become
a player more, you know, productive outside of the paint,
then we were going to get a completely different business
team and the Jaylden Durrant that would step towards that
contract amount that we've heard. And I don't think anybody
I don't see anybody in Detroit blinking at that anymore.
I see people saying, right now, pay him now, you know,
(23:44):
so he's he's doing this thing and obviously.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Yeah, you can't.
Speaker 5 (23:49):
Yeah, you're definitely right in terms about wanting him to
take that next step and having that conversation. I think
for us, the reason why you're so excited, though, is
because the minutes for Jalen Durham have always been limited.
The minutes have been limited. So you see these great
spurts and things.
Speaker 10 (24:03):
That he does.
Speaker 5 (24:03):
He'll have foul, trouble or injury, he'll have one or
just the staff saying that we don't want to overplay, right,
we don't got to give him a break. So you'll
see these great spurts step and we're here have an
eighteen point eighteen night in the past in like twenty minutes,
in like eighteen minutes, and so it shows you that
there's something there, and I think this season we're starting
to see, well, we knew it was something there. This
(24:25):
is what was there to be bigger staff. They were
just making sure that it was time right, and the
time has been.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Yea, it didn't seem like they rushed him. He's everything
about twenty nine minutes a game, it's second most in
his career, twenty nine and change. But if I think
Karl Anthony Towns is a really good I don't think
Jalen during will be Karl Anthony Towns because Karl Anthony
Towns different, different type of town. But from a minute standpoint,
Karl Anthony Towns plays five more minutes a game and
(24:53):
averages two more points per game. He also takes five
more shots per game than Jalen, So that tells you
something right there. That's what I like. There's a flow,
you know, there's always a flow to a really good game.
Like the football game last night sucked, wasn't it? Tennessee sucks? No,
(25:13):
it's a really bad flow. Right, it was a bad
flow because yeah, I know we're gonna we're gonna get
to that. But the Pistons seemed to play with a
rhythm a lot of times you'll come in here and
play that really nice music that we all like. Speaker,
that's your problem and then you know all this stuff,
and that's that's what the Pistons seemed to play like
to me, at least early on this season. So they
(25:36):
should get another win tonight, knock on wood against Atlanta.
You did a nice job of this was off camera
yesterday when I said, look, hoping to see we're all
looking for tests in our teams and our players, right,
I want to see what that guy does in the
box against Terrek Scoobel. Okay, Well, the Pistons so far
the schedule has been somewhat favorable. Yeah, okay it you said. Yeah,
(25:59):
sometimes they're winning on back to back games. The tail
in the back to backs, those can be challenging too,
So you got to give them credit for what they've done,
and they deserve that credit. Tough turnaround travel to Atlanta tonight.
But I don't think Trey Young is playing tonight, so
I could be right, But I.
Speaker 6 (26:13):
Know Jalen Johnson has been tearing it up for the
Hawks and Trey Young's absence. This guy's gone to a
different level.
Speaker 5 (26:19):
So did you see this the other night.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Yeah, well stuff.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
Twelve and seven.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Yeah, he has played against Jalen durham Man.
Speaker 4 (26:28):
Yeah, and that's I'm looking forward to the match with
the tap in tonight.
Speaker 6 (26:31):
We are gonna have the Pistons stream of post game
the watch party tonight for that game.
Speaker 4 (26:36):
It'll be good to see them on the road back
to back end.
Speaker 5 (26:38):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
We'll see if k Cunningham gives it to go tonight.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
All right, I'm looking forward to it. So congratulations to
Pistons so far. Hope they keep it up. It would
be really fun right around the trade deadline to start
wondering if, if indeed they need something like I mean,
Dennis Shrewder was really wise pick up last year.
Speaker 5 (26:57):
If here we go here and here we go already
with the franchise, gonna say trade dead No, it's just
gonna say, you know, we ain't gonna get it here
in Detroit.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
If Dennis Jenkins can continue to play this way, he
takes a lot of what you missed with Shrewder. We're good,
we're good. You can just tell us we're good, and
and I would, and I would, This would be my
advice if I was, if I was the agent to
Marcus Sasser. Hey, dude, get well, Get well quick quick,
because you know what, this dude's deserving of the minutes
(27:28):
that he's getting. You're gonna you you have to leap
frog that son of a gun to get back out there.
Speaker 5 (27:34):
At the end of the day, friendship.
Speaker 2 (27:36):
Is cool, but you're you're here to do a businessmen,
you're here to do a business.
Speaker 5 (27:39):
My job before I even got here. I want to
play on this team. I want to make a difference
in the NBA.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
That's it.
Speaker 5 (27:43):
That's his goal. And now he has the opportunity to
make a difference. You can't worry about who's his friend,
who's not his friend. He's gonna keep going for Then
there's one thing that they say, you cannot make the
club in the tub. That's one of the best football.
You can't make the club in the tub. That means
those guys can get hurt and injured and all you
ibby back guys come in and they are ready and
guess what your spot will be known.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
And you know what, if he wants his bread, he
wants to get paid to good for him. Listen, that's
the motivation. I really don't care as long as you
keep going. Motivation motivation is key and whatever he's got
that chip on his shoulder.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Good friend, Marcus Sasser has talent. It's like I want
to see him get back. I believe that.
Speaker 6 (28:21):
Yeah, And that's the thing I think with Danny Jenkins
his emergency as an actual point guard, I believe this
allows Marcus Sasser off the bench to play more of
the combo guard. Pick your spots to shoot, pick your
spots to get into that mid rangeery as a nice floater,
rather than trying to run around as a shorter player,
trying to create as a guy.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
Who wasn't ever the lead point guard.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
See a combo guard who handles a ball and can
facilitate off of the gravity he creates, Yes, but putting
him at point guard and make him be the facilitator,
That's what I think is where.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
He am I wrong here and saying, with all due
respect to Marcus Sasser, I'm not worried about getting him
minutes or where he deserves to play. You've got enough
guys right now who are doing pretty damn well. Okay,
I'd be more concerned about Jade, and I'd be coming
back Marcus. I'm not gonna I'm not going to tear
(29:10):
my whole rotation up for Marcus Sasser, who can give
you six points a game, I don't need that.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
Yeah, I will think that it's better for him that
now they have a clear cut Dennis Jenkins because Sasser
played better last year.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
When did the shorter got here? Now, I think that
they can stop this.
Speaker 6 (29:28):
Weird experiment of trying to force him into the positional
point guard and just let him play more at his
natural ability.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
Since Dennis Jenkins has definitely a merve.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
That's good.
Speaker 5 (29:37):
Yeah, and I appreciate that comment. I like the NBA
that we're in today where it's a positionless NBA. And
the reason why is because back in the day, just
because you fit into a certain size is what you
have to play. Just because Marcus Sass is a shorter dude,
don't mean he's trying to be out there dribbling the
point guard like Isaiah Thomas has setting everybody up. Sometimes
that's not what their game is. So I appreciate that comment. Koula.
You're absolutely right. He does not have to play the
(29:59):
point guard position anymore because this is the spot that
you know, we can get some more run out of
Sasser in this type of space.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Yeah, I just wonder how many guards they're gonna use. Okay,
because obviously Kate Kuyam is gonna be out there, Jade
and Ivy when he's health, he's gonna be out there
if Jenkins continues this. And I love what Jenkins is done,
I really do. I'm no offense. I can't be sold
on a few games, Okay, So I'm not gonna sit
there and raise the flag yet and say he's taken over.
(30:26):
I think he's been unbelievable and I love the push
that he's given. But how many guards are you gonna
worry about rotating in?
Speaker 6 (30:33):
You're right, Jade and Ivy man just got to sign
to the motor City Cruise as he ramps up his
rehabilitation towards retarded.
Speaker 4 (30:41):
So you're right, man, there's more.
Speaker 6 (30:43):
Now you got Dannis Jenkins who's arrived, and now you're
gonna get Jade and Ivy back. You're right, because they
believe in defense, and I think that the more length
you have on defense and more height and Jenkins.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
Yes, he iss Jenkins for the Pistons right now is
what Kendrick Bohm to my fantasy team, Like when everybody.
Speaker 4 (31:02):
Was hurt it all goes.
Speaker 5 (31:04):
But it's the truth though with why watch it's Kendrick
Bourn when everybody was hurt, when Kittle was out, when
Pearsaw was out, when Juwan Jennings was out, when ain't
anybody throw to He was averaging one hundred yards of
game three weeks in a row, and he was doing
this thing. But when you bring back a Ricky Pearsaw,
who they pay, we can bring back to George Kittle.
When you bring back now CMC has got the right
offense together. When you bring it back Brandon I, there'll
(31:25):
be a Brandon Ey exciting soon. Watch out for those
forty nine ers. You know what, it's a lot of
wide receivers that hands. I'm sorry, we appreciate what you did,
but come sit next to me until there's a room
and opportunity for you.
Speaker 2 (31:36):
So did you win last week?
Speaker 5 (31:37):
I lost by point?
Speaker 2 (31:39):
What's your record? Now?
Speaker 5 (31:40):
Seven and four?
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Same here?
Speaker 5 (31:41):
I lost by point five to two because he had
he had Ceedee Lamb and needed sixteen whatever he needed
and he got on Ceedee Lamb.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
So another reason for Braylan to just like Jack Prescott
and the Cowboys, when we come back, I get the
concerns over the lines, I really do. I think there
it's just going to be a tough game. The concern
for the Lions. But how many teams are you convinced
are better capitalized? Underscored in bold? How many teams do
you really think are better We'll get to that when
(32:12):
we come back in the Brilin Edwards Show after this.
For Martin Jake's and nobody better than Vin.
Speaker 5 (32:17):
Jonson Corporations, the government, even your resturments company, you know
what they'll do. They'll do whatever it takes to minimize
their liability. Nobody wants to be responsible. And also they
even try to withhold your compensation. Don't let them do that,
you know how, you don't let them do that.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
You call the fighter.
Speaker 5 (32:32):
The fighter is Ben Johnson Law. Check this out. He
has been doing this for decades and let him do
it for you. Whether it's a settlement or a verdict,
it doesn't matter because they want all the smoke. So

nice chilled mug. But eighty television sets? What why don't

better believe, man, that's where you're gonna watch those games

and we bet when there's breaking news, koul Aid will
deliver it for us. Glabor Torres has an hour and
a half in change or a little less than an
(37:18):
hour and a half to decide whether or not he's
going to accept the Tiger's qualifying offer that would pay
him twenty two million dollars. If he chooses to take it,
then he's your second basement at the age of twenty
nine next year. If he chooses not to accept it,
Detroit will get compensatory picks in the draft. Okay, just FYI,
(37:39):
So when that happens, kool Aid will deliver there is
a college football playoff ceremony tonight. You don't think he's
gonna take.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
It now because I don't think he believes in the future.
A one tearch school.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Well, that's interesting. It would only be for a year
and they may have Scooble for one year left, so
maybe one kick at the can. I thought you were
going to say, look another year, another year older. He
wants the long term contract. Can he get it at
age thirty?
Speaker 5 (38:07):
Breg mc did?
Speaker 2 (38:07):
He will?
Speaker 5 (38:08):
He could? What do you deal with the Tigers last year?
And I think for what he is, he's going to
be that in other places as well. I think he
will go get it. GARNERIM a good deal, a decent deal.
Speaker 2 (38:18):
Okay, here's my question with the Tigers. And I didn't
mean to get off on this. I was just talking
about it as a story here real quick because we
want to get into some football. But here's my question
with the Tigers. If we all believe collectively from what
they tell us, and that is the Kevin McGonagall, who
is the MVP of the Azona Fall League, is their
number one prospect and the number one hitting prospect in
(38:38):
all of the minor leagues. If he's going to be
your future second basement? Yeah, okay, And he should make
his debut for the Tigers this year. And you have
Bias at short and you have Torres at second, and
everybody out there who's a Tigers fan wants you to
sign a third basement, Bobashett move him to third, Alex
(39:01):
Pregnant bring him on board even though he's thirty two
to thirty three. Where do the young guys play? Where
is McGonagall going to play? Where is Bryce Rayner going
to play? Might take a little bit longer for him.
Max Anderson had a really good Arizona Fall League. Where
does he play? I mean, if you think about it, Brelan,
this team, they have question marks in center field because
(39:25):
of the lack of offense in right field, at second
base until Torres makes up his mind at shortstop after
this year, and there is no third baseman. You're looking
at Dylan Dingler, Riley Green, and ironically enough, probably Spencer Torkelsen.
Is the guys who have locked down positions, And where
(39:45):
do you play? Cole Keith, by the way, I mean
that's another young guy. So I mean, remember they moved
him from second to first and then back to second.
They they had at third a little bit. His mind
is all messed up. It's just something I've been thinking about.
Speaker 5 (39:57):
Are the Tigers going touse that what you're doing them?
Speaker 3 (40:00):
No?
Speaker 4 (40:00):
Absolutely, I'll sit here too.
Speaker 8 (40:03):
Well.
Speaker 2 (40:03):
I'm just are those fair questions? Or if that's do
you think that's me overreacting?
Speaker 5 (40:09):
Let me feel free to go ahead. I'm I'm a
I'm a big boy, I got a thick skin. I
don't feely subscribed to the conversation because I'm not necessarily
versed enough in terms of doing my information. But I
will say, you're somewhere in the middle, okay, somewhere in
the middle of the two.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Okay, I think those are valid questions that I that
that have to be asked and answered by the front office,
not by necessarily us. All right, so the Lions we
all know. It's still a little bit of a hangover
effect for us.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
We still know that the.
Speaker 5 (40:37):
Sky, I know the sky, the panic meter ding ding
way up.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Take me now, remember when he goes you guys probably
never went to the circus, went to the circus. I'm
not saying, you know, I'm talking about Brendan. People are
are using the big mallet and then it shoots up right,
and a ball.
Speaker 5 (40:56):
Head guy with with the with the spinny mustag, that's
him right there, and.
Speaker 2 (41:03):
The ones the guy you don't trust necessarily. Hell, where
do you think that panic meter is right now? For
for Lions fans? Where is it?
Speaker 5 (41:12):
It's always at the top because you think so, Just
speaking from what I know, I've talked to a couple guysaning,
I think everybody's panicking in their own way, and that's
why I say it's up to the top now. Just
because you want to lie about it, be sneaky about
your panic, that's not going to do so many people
are I was talking to an individual that he will
(41:34):
say nothing bad about the Lions and every time they
may lose the game and things like that, you just
pushed the gold post back. All the lost to green Bay.
You know it's it's green Bay at the beginning of
the season. By you lose to the Chiefs, all it's
the Chiefs, and you know it's you lose the Eagles
and blah blah blah buth. I'm listening to the conversations
like what do you feel about he'said Dan cambll just
scaring me right now? You know what I'm saying the
(41:55):
offense is scaring me a little bit right now, Like
I think the Lions are there it is. That's how
you know it's all the way at the top. Because
every Lion's fan they will now say this, they will
preface it. Well, I think it wasn't. There was no
thinking back in September. There was no thinking after you.
Speaker 2 (42:13):
Know, it's just belief.
Speaker 5 (42:15):
There was no thinking after you beat the Chicago Bears
fifty two to fourteen, right, there was no thinking after
you got back on track against the Commanders. Okay, we're back.
Everyone now thinks that the Lions are going to get
to the playoffs, not even necessarily win the division anymore.
They think the Lions will get there, and they think
the Lions will make some noise in the playoffs. I
(42:35):
think everybody's meter is at the full tip, whether they
want to believe it or not, I mean, whether they
want to be honest about it.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
I'm you know what you've maybe think, because you usually do.
I'm trying to trying to decipher where I'm ex I'm
not overly concerned yet, and that that sounds quite honestly
when I say it out loud like that sounds stupid, really.
Speaker 5 (43:00):
Said before.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
They don't have a signature win. They've alternated wins and losses.
And maybe my belief is way too strong, but it does.
It sounds stupid. How can you not be concerned over
a team that sits and would be the outside looking
at Let me give you the reasons. Okay, if the
playoffs started today, Brendan knows he's put this graphic together,
they're out. You know that too. I want you to
(43:24):
and I want you to think about this though. Okay,
I want you to be serious with yourself. How many
teams do you truly believe are better than Detroit? And
I'm not talking about Hey, let's get into more personal
power rankings and all this stuff. There are there are
so many question marks regarding the National Football League right now,
(43:45):
but especially in the NFC. So Brailin said to me
before the show starts, like, look, there's only one team
in the NFC that you truly believe in. Okay, you
said this the Rams, right, that's what okay? And I said,
what about Philly? And you said, I don't believe in
their offense? And you gave me some really good reasons.
(44:06):
They just beat Detroit there's enough.
Speaker 5 (44:08):
That's a different conversation, though it is different.
Speaker 2 (44:11):
But overall, if I said to you, you had to
play this team on a neutral site, the Lions against
and then I'll give you a team, I bet you
it's the Rams, it's the Eagles, and maybe Seattle. And
you don't believe in Sam Darnold, so you're gonna have
(44:31):
a hard time convincing me. You take Seattle in the NFC,
and that's about it. Now we can include the AFC.
And I understand why you take perhaps the Broncos you
always put across, maybe the Colts, right, the Patriots, maybe
the Bills. I doubt it, but because a week ago
you were you were trashing them in for good reasons.
Speaker 5 (44:51):
But it's not about me trashing them. It's about me
looking at what I'm saying against the detailed Lions.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
I understand. I understand. It's You've made that clear and
it's a good description. My point is they're still a
top eight football team in the National Football League by
most people's standards. Does that settle you down just a
little bit or no? I mean, unless you think Chicago's
better than they are, and unless you think Green Bay is,
(45:15):
which I don't, but go ahead.
Speaker 5 (45:17):
Green Bay's got too many major injuries Josh Jacobs being
injured type Tucker Craft being injured. Tucker Craft was forty
one percent the offense, and you saw what it looked
like when he wasn't there. You saw the Eagles game.
They did a similar thing the Lions did. Defense was
outstanding against the Eagles, but the offense couldn't give him anything.
UNTI they were able to score points. Looked exactly like
the Lions game. Uh yeah, I had exactly the teams
(45:37):
you said in terms of who I believe is better
than them. Yeah, sure, they're still a top EIGHTEAM right now.
But if they're top EIGHTEAM, that is descending, or whichever
way you're looking, they're descending rapidly. Because when we're having
this conversation before they lost to the Vikings, it was, oh, well,
this team is here their top four or their top five,
their top three, trying to figure it out they're gonna
take that step. They then lost to a Vikings, a
(45:58):
Vikings team, and we know what that offense for the
Vike You look like there's a lot of complaint going
on right there, and that's the team to beat us.
Because of the defense. And then you look at the
Eagles game, and then you look at the Chiefs game,
and you see the similar things rearing their head, which
is the offensive line. You see the offensive line and
struggling and looking at it that way, I look at
this being why I chose these teams ahead of Lions offensively.
(46:19):
In defensive I think there is more fluidity in these teams.
I think they are just as good as a line
better than the Lions defensively, and then offensively, I think
they have enough or they're much better than the line.
So that's why I have these teams over the Lions
right now? Can that turn one hundred percent? Players are
coming back, Our secondary will look better, and maybe they
figure out some things, and then we'll see what happens
(46:39):
in the next games they play the Giants, followed by
the Packers, followed by the Cowboys.
Speaker 2 (46:43):
Right yes, correct, at home?
Speaker 5 (46:45):
All at home, three home games, three winnable games that won.
At the end. We'll talk about that a little bit more,
because I think Dallas is the same team as the
Lions currently. Oh is there a problem is if you're
talking about points score, Dallas is doing it better than
anyone in lead right now. If you're talking about what
the defense looks like with Clark and Quinn Williams in
(47:07):
the middle, that's what's giving us problems. Is the defensive line. Well,
they got Quinn Williams and Clark in the middle right now,
and it's looking like something.
Speaker 2 (47:14):
Just I think it's debatable, but I understand it.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
It is.
Speaker 5 (47:17):
I don't think I don't think in no round they're
better I'm saying, but they're on the same level as
of right now. So you just look at it and
you just want to see more conson fluity off both sides.
I think there's when there's something wrong. How do I
say this again? Watching that Lions game, going back and
watching the film from the Eagles game and some of
the pressures, it wasn't even just about the defensive line.
(47:39):
You start to watch more of the game, there was
some mix up and where players were supposed to be.
There was some mix up and where passes were supposed
to be. So when you dive into it, it's not
just the offensive line had a bad game and they
didn't protect.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
There was more mistakes to go around than I thought
should that How concerning is that? Considering we're this deep
into a season. Is that a common occurrence do you
think with good teams? I'm not talking about crappy teams.
Speaker 5 (48:09):
Because the thing about it is, and you talked about this.
I don't want to steal this from you. You said
yesterday off air. I'm giving you the credit. The Eagles
wasn't a cause for concern for you. It was a
great opponent, it was on the road, it was a
team that just won the Super Bowl, and all those
things true. When they lost with that defense, he say, hey,
lost the best defense in the NFL. There's no shame
in that. The Vikings loss is the one that got you.
(48:30):
And you're one thousand percent correct. So no, I tell
you the story all the time about the forty nine
and three ass whooping I took when I was with
the Jets and we played the Patriot, Like, yeah, I mean,
you know, you don't want to lose forty nine and three.
They were the best team in the league and they
clearly showed us at that particular moment. So you don't
place too much in it. But it's just the fact
that here we are Week twelve and we're still trying
(48:51):
to figure out what is this offensive line going to
be because they're getting closer and closer and closer in
these teams. See the difference in these teams, and when
I think they're better, see the paid to have gotten
better and better and better and better and better. You're
waiting for the pages to fall off the clip and
you're realizing Verbel knows what the hell he's doing.
Speaker 4 (49:07):
The bills.
Speaker 5 (49:08):
The bills are the bills. You can throw them out
with the with the bath water if you want to.
The Broncos, I do not like the offense, but they've
gotten better and better and better, and when they have
a straight team and on defense they are fingal.
Speaker 2 (49:19):
On top of that, they meet one of your criteria
when you talk about show me who you've beaten, like
you had this last week, who the teams they've beaten,
and which teams have they lost to? And the Chiefs
and Vikings losses bothered me. It shook me because I
think Detroit's better than that one. I can almost accept
the first season loss to Green Bay. New coordinators, two
(49:41):
new guards, a new center. You know, I can make
plenty of excuses in that regard. It's not excuses, but
it's understanding. Okay. In Philadelphia to a certain extent, maybe
the weather. We all know. The records, the two losses
Minnesota and Kansas City really shook me. If you want
to be proven, right, look at Denver and look at
who they've beaten, the beating some really good football teams.
Speaker 5 (50:01):
Yeah, and then like the last one thousand percent in
the last two you look at the Eagles, and with
the Eagles at the Eagles defense is nearing a different
level right now, that addition of Jalen Phillips and the
addition of bringing Brandon Graham back working with that defensive line,
like they are taking into another level. Nkobe Dean, this
is the Nikobe Dean that I could not figure out
how he went in the second round. This is Nikobe
Dean we saw in the National Championship two years in
(50:23):
a row. So the Eagles have gotten better on defense
and the offense. It's been this for three years essentially.
Well might have say, Kawon Barkley, the Rams and the Rams,
they've gotten better and better and better and better. And
then that Seahawks defense is legit because if you don't
believe in Seahawks defense, Matt Stafford's probably the top running
for the MVP held him to a Buck thirty and
they snuck a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (50:41):
Early to short touchdown passes.
Speaker 5 (50:42):
He had good field position. So that Seattle defense is real.
So it's not like, oh, well, we're better offensively than.
Speaker 2 (50:47):
Them, so one hundred percent. So but let me use
the Braylan Edwards argument on Braylan Edwards. If you think
it's the Rams and nobody else, and this is where
the eye test comes into play, specifically your eyes, which
I trust more than just about anybody else's when it
comes to stuff. If I said to you that a
(51:08):
team had beaten the Chiefs, the Rams, the Bucks, the Vikings,
the Packers and the Lions, those five teams, you would
say that team is arguably the best in football. And
they are the number one seed in the NFC right now,
and that is the Philadelphia Eagles.
Speaker 5 (51:27):
This is very true. And they did beat the New
they did beat the Los Angeles Rams early in the year.
It's about when you play them the whole nine yards.
You're right, That resume is solids. Go look me in
my face and tell me that Sean McVay and Matt
Stafford and that Los Angeles Rams offense would have done
the same exact thing that the Detroit Lions did against
the Green Bay I mean against Philly, Like Philly on
(51:49):
offense is horrible. Philly on offense is not playing good
by any means. There's beefing with AJ Brown and is
getting to an all time high. You even have Jalen
Hurts coming out now say some things like it's getting
to the point where it's off the rails.
Speaker 2 (52:04):
They don't have the balance they had a year ago.
Speaker 5 (52:06):
So defensively they're amazing, but on offense, you're just waiting
for them to implode. You're waiting for Jalen Hurst to
give you the ball, You're waiting for something to happen.
You're waiting for AJ Brown not to finish one of
his routes, and here's an interception by the safety. Like
that's what you're waiting for. With the Eagles, yes, I
trust that defense, but the Eagles are going to leave
you in the game. Like the Eagles left green Bay
(52:27):
in the game, and they were waiting for green Bay
to score and they couldn't. They left us in the game.
They were waiting for us to do something and we couldn't.
So that's why I don't fully trust the Eagles, because
the Rams, they gonna do something to them. That's how Seattle.
I think Seattle could do something to him realistically. So
that's why I feel that's why the Eagles it's still
a hole back for me because they got to figure
(52:49):
that out.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
Yeah, and I don't think they go down and field
very well with.
Speaker 5 (52:52):
And that offensive line. Like now you have Lane Johnson
out and they say it's temporary. What does that look like?
Landon Dickerson has been hurt the majority.
Speaker 10 (52:59):
Of the year.
Speaker 2 (52:59):
Good question, What does that look A really good question? Yeah,
this is how it would start today. Eagles get to
buy they're the one, Okay, then Stafford and the Rams
are the two. Bucks are the three? Okay, Actually it's
the Bears that are the three. The Bucks are four,
all right, and then five is Seattle, six is Green Bay,
(53:20):
seven is San Francis.
Speaker 5 (53:21):
And that's the thing though, we're talking about who do
you The question you asked that's kool a was who
do we believe is better than the Lions? And I
gave you those teams. You didn't say who was I
think even killed? Because right now, tell me why the
Bears aren't even killed? Tell me why the Bucks aren't
even killed? Tell me why the forty nine ers who
are getting back all their players aren't even killed because
brock Party. As much as we gave Mac Jones credit
(53:43):
because he did a really good job in the absence
brock Perty, it looks so much different when him coming back.
I know it was a bad team that looks so
much different.
Speaker 2 (53:50):
So thereon, that's you know that I wish I'd have
thought of that even killed with the Lion. Valid point man,
and it's not always who's better, but on which level
are you with?
Speaker 5 (54:01):
And for me, top of the second tier, Well, now
what I'm saying is they're like, it's it's conversational with
the second tier.
Speaker 2 (54:09):
Yes, it's very debatable for me to sit there and
try to tell you that Detroit is better than the Bears.
I cannot use the ammunition that they beat him in
Week two because that team is completely different than it
wasn't Week two.
Speaker 5 (54:21):
Eagles also beat the Rams, and we're sitting here saying
the Rams are better. So it's the same conversation, absolutely right.
Speaker 2 (54:26):
The only thing I would say is there's some there's
some issues with Chicago's offense too, and I think it's
it's worth debating. Caleb Williams in the accuracy, you know,
the completion percentage and certain other other stats that he
puts up. And I know numbers can be very misleading
and deceiving, but I'm having a hard time, in watching
(54:49):
as much football as you and I do, of saying
that there's you know, four solid teams better than the Lions,
but there are others who are equal to it.
Speaker 6 (55:00):
We haven't been in this position, you know, as Lions
fans down of what two and a half years. It's
been something we thought we could depend on, like clockwork
by this time in the season. Now you're looking at
a situation where you're outside the playoffs. Some of these
teams that you thought you were clearly better than. It's
not just that they are in these positions, but you
look at the Bears in the record right now, you're
looking at Ben Johnson offense.
Speaker 2 (55:21):
You had to say it. There you go, there you go, man, look,
And that's where it's tough to say, isn't it.
Speaker 4 (55:26):
It is tough. It's tough, tough, man. Like I thought
that some of these teams were clearly like just firmly
in the rear view, like the Bucks.
Speaker 6 (55:35):
The package I thought we had finally slayed, you know,
the Seattle Seahawks, But now we see this is the NFL. Man,
This is not just any given sunny but if you
want to be one of those teams, this is where
I'm hoping the Lions have the recipe, you know, the
stuff that we've continued to hold on to, the one pride,
not scared.
Speaker 4 (55:52):
I'm hoping it is true.
Speaker 5 (55:53):
Two things. First thing is when you look at the
division for you know, when you have a conversation about
you know, the panic meter or where's the panic meter,
or why you would feel a certain way when you
just look at your own division, Okay, it's we still
have a lot of time left, etc. It's a lot
of time. But when you look at your division and
you realize you're not first, you're not second, your third,
(56:15):
But then you also lost to the fourth place team
in your division, Like that's just what your division looks at.
And the second place, well they're ahead, but I'm saying
you lost to the team behind you, which more so
I was trying to hit that point home, like that's
what that's why it's a it's an okay conversation to have,
but looking at it was another thing. You look at
some of these teams shop and what they did is
(56:37):
they consistently evolved, evolved off season, trade deadline in season,
made moves over years, etcetera, etcetera. Adjustments like they made
adjustments to stay Like it's once you get to a spot,
it's not we've arrived, it's how do you stay there?
It's how do you get better? How do you go further?
You look at the Rams like they legitimately went from
(56:58):
super Bowl to never heard of you to back in
this space. The Eagles are like, look, we're going to
continue to find way to put to push the needle. Hey,
we're going to continue to find ways to make ourselves
a better brand. You know what, Damn we paid Devonte
Smith and we paid aj Ah, So we can't do this.
How can we work some magic and work someone new
shit and get another defensive line? Oh well, if we
(57:19):
give up this third and we're not gonna pay him
out here like this is what you have to do.
You have to find ways to get better. You can't
stay stagning. And the teams at the top, even even
the Seahawks. The Seahawks like they oh they were battling
with the Lions three four years ago, and then they
disappeared with Geno Smith. Now they got Sam Donald. Now
they have Mike McDonald a quarterback. Now their their defense
(57:41):
is easy favorite. Now they're at defense is elite. And
now they're adding to the offense with Shahi like sh
he's so fast. Did you see the play last week
where Sham Donald hadn't been thrown with him killar because
he underthrow them? Shit, he was five yards ahead of
the in the end zone and he underthrew it and
allowed the dB for the Rams to come and knock
the ball away. Wait till he under stands at his fast.
Speaker 2 (58:01):
And he knows if I said to you guys, just
first glance, who which team do you think has the
best record within the division, like the divisional record. I've
always been a big believer of this. If you want
to win your division, you've got to be the best
team against the teams that are in your division. So
case in point last year, Bay, so case in point
(58:23):
Buffalo last year, five and one against the AFC East
they won it. Baltimore last year, four and two against
the AFC North. Best record within the North, they won it.
Houston five and one against the AFC South they won it.
Lions went undefeated in the division. If I said to you, right,
same thing in baseball. By the way, just watch baseball.
Look at who's who's got the best record with the division.
(58:45):
Who's got the best record in the NFC North? Do
you think? Just real quick?
Speaker 5 (58:49):
Green Bay, green Bay, Cooling, real quick?
Speaker 4 (58:53):
Say Chicago, Chicago, Brendon Green Bay.
Speaker 2 (58:57):
It's Minnesota.
Speaker 5 (58:58):
They're two and one. Crazy, green Bay is one on
one green Bay?
Speaker 4 (59:02):
I think one.
Speaker 2 (59:03):
Detroit's one and two in Chicago's one and two. Uh no,
the tie down outside the division. Ye, so just just
something to follow. Okay, You've got a few more games left,
still have to go to get Green Bay. Thanksgiving, got
to go to Minnesota, gotta go to Chicago. But I
think it's going to be hard to win the division
if you don't finish above five hundred in the division.
(59:27):
That's all I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (59:28):
Also, too, man, these games keep it real. It's almostn't
keep it real. These games aren't gonna they're not gonna
get any easier. Like these games aren't going to get
any easier. Same for the people that are playing against you,
but they're not going to get any easier down the stretch,
we talk about the defensive lines that they're gonna have
to play against. We talk about the team and what
they're going to be, and they're going to be hungry. Also,
when you play Chicago the second time around, it's going
(59:49):
to be in Chicago in December, and you talk about conditions.
Whether you like the conversation or not, it's real though.
It's a real conversation. What if you like, do you
realize what it's like to play off Lake Michigan in
December or January when the winds are swirling and you
can't do jack. I'm legitimately playing the game in my
(01:00:10):
head right now, like there was nothing that we can
do in terms of passing the game. We played one
game I want to say it was about Mark Sanchez.
We had twelve at ten. We had to run the
ball the whole game. We had one passing touchdown. It
was a Santonio home but we could not pass the
ball and we also didn't trust our quarterback and back
Mark sanchezter, do you.
Speaker 6 (01:00:27):
Mind sharing a little bit more about your experience and
outdoor you know stuff, because obviously we talk about it
what golf might be going through.
Speaker 4 (01:00:33):
But then if you think about asking you about that word.
Speaker 5 (01:00:36):
Yeah, and now the wind is a real thing. It
depends on certain stadiums outside It affects especially if there's
not a snap to the ball. There was no snap
from either one of the quarterbacks the other day, and
it was really windy. You know what I'm saying that
was most quarterbacks wouldn't have looked good in that way.
There's a couple, but those quarterbacks wouldn't look good in
that weather. But you know, when you're talking about those
types of weather, when it's Michigan, when it's Cleveland, when
(01:00:59):
it's pitch when it's you know, lambeau Field planning, these places,
like it affects the quarterback, especially when the quarterback isn't
cut for the condition.
Speaker 2 (01:01:08):
Quarterbacks will, as you know, quarterbacks will tell you, I'll
throw in the rain. I don't care about that. What
I what I don't like is the wind because the
balls they can throw in the cold, but it's the
wind that bothers them more than anything else.
Speaker 5 (01:01:22):
I'll get hired. You don't have that like that, that control,
like the leather, the oil that they put on so
it's nice and smooth when they throw. And you see
the quarterbacks trying to figure out which one before they
start the game when it's freezing out, there doesn't matter
which one.
Speaker 2 (01:01:34):
The good news this is, this is me looking at
the glass half full. Yeah the good well, the good yeah,
the other side too. But also when you're in games
like that, is you well known you got to be
able to run the football. And Detroit is seventh in
the league and running rushing yards per game. Now some
of that is built up from earlier this year, so
(01:01:55):
we've got to probably instead of looking at it as
a total, we should probably look at it in the
last three games and take it at increments. I mean,
you wouldn't your teammates used to do that all the time.
What did coaches do when it was a sixteen game schedule?
They divided it into quarters. Okay, let's go four and
one of the first or three and one of the
first quarter.
Speaker 5 (01:02:13):
Let's go three and one, and so we.
Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
Should probably do the same thing with statistics, especially when
it comes to that kool aid. You were gonna say
something to it.
Speaker 6 (01:02:20):
Yeah, you know, the people here in the chap are
real active during this conversation, and coach Leo just wants
to ask you guys, if you look at Green Bay
and Chicago's schedule. By week eighteen, he believes we will
own the division and that game won't matter.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
But what do you guys think.
Speaker 5 (01:02:35):
I'm never gonna say anything does not matter, especially when
you like all these teams right now, it's a free
frog and teams are trying to figure it out. As
it relates to the Packers, Look, they got some injuries,
but that defense is no injuries on that side of it. Well,
they're legit and that defense is legit. You know, are
you trusting in Jordan Love can make a couple of
players with Romeo dives, insert Luke Musgrove and a couple
of the other wide receivers. What does that look like?
Speaker 2 (01:02:55):
You know?
Speaker 5 (01:02:56):
So I don't think it's over, but I definitely think
the line right now are just they're better than the
Green Bay Packers. I think they're more healthy than the
Green Bay Packers, which sounds crazy. I think they're healthier.
They're more healthy, and they're getting healthy and they're getting healthier,
and they know this Green Bay Packers team. Matt Lafleur
is like it. They got something for him, they got
something for them as well. So I'm not worried about
(01:03:20):
the division at all. That the conversation is just where
we're at in the division. It doesn't make you feel good,
and when you look at it's like, oh, shoot, this
is what's really going on here in week eleven. But
looking at that, I think they're much better than the
Chicago Bears. I think they're much better than the team
to beat them in the Bikings, and I think they
will be better than the Packers, who have some some
banged up players and one guy he's at his position.
(01:03:42):
So yeah, injuries they play a role. They hurt us
last year. Guess what they'll help us this year.
Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
Chicago's got San Francisco, They've got Green Bay twice, they've
got the Lions, and they've got the Eagles. I mean,
they've got Pittsburgh I think this weekend. So it's a
little different this weekend, but after that, it's.
Speaker 5 (01:03:59):
It's right, Yeah, fractured, fractured, risky, fractured in his risk correct.
Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
I don't know if that's going to keep it, how
long it's going to keep him out. But that's a
challenging schedule. Green Bay has the Vikings this weekend, and
then of course the Lions They've got the Bears twice,
but they also have the Broncos, and well, they got
the Vikings twice, but they've got the Ravens.
Speaker 5 (01:04:21):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:04:21):
I know how you feel about the Ravens. But at
the end of the season, and that's why I'm glad
Braylan brought up the injury to Aaron Rodgers. At the
end of the season, Baltimore might be playing for division title.
So those are the who's ever in the chat. I
forget who said that it's dead on man. I think Detroit,
(01:04:42):
not that they've got an easy road. They don't, but
I think it's less cumbersome than two teams that are
ahead of them. And speaking of Detroit's upcoming schedule, the
man who runs the show believes that there's one on
that schedule that maybe we down is a win way
too early. We'll talk about that when we come back
(01:05:03):
after this from Smoothie King and Sharon's keating your condition.
Speaker 5 (01:05:09):
It's almost like he's done that before. Smooth Yo, what

I had a coach who stayed with younger women that
were all gorgeous. He was a little older, played and
UH played in the late late eighties and coach on
the staff I used to always ask. I was like, coach,
like how you put these women? You know what I'm saying,
Like how you get old girl? And man, I got
two things that these women will always need. I don't
have to see it.
Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
On air, but I was like, Money's one of them.
I would guess, I said, you.
Speaker 5 (01:13:18):
Know what coach you got it about? Said, but I
pretty saw that Money is the one that matters the most.
Said that Hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:13:27):
Let's get to some super chats then we're going to
move forward with uh. I think what a lot of
people might be surprised with what Braylan feels about the
line's upcoming schedule. So how about a few super chats
first fire away?
Speaker 6 (01:13:38):
Hey, definitely, man, we got a lot of super chats
in here. Thank you guys for supporting us. First h
le Bartney note nine super chat one. He's number one
in the chats today as well. He says, four seasons
for the win. So if you could live anywhere, he says,
you can't beat living in Michigan. From our conversation earlier
in the show, this is factual too.
Speaker 5 (01:13:56):
And in so many undiscovered gyms I want see undiscovered.
There's a lot of people have discovered, a lot of
people haven't. But there's just so many hitting gyms there
we go. That's the way to say. So many hitting
gyms around the state, Man that show up all year round,
whether it's in the winter, whether you want to go
snowing and you really enjoy the tundra vibe, or you know,
whether it's in the summer the later summer you want
to go up north and get on some of these
(01:14:17):
bodies of water and see some of these things. The
northern lights are available to us at certain times in
the years. So it's just so many things you can do.
I didn't even realize that I got an adult. I
became an adult. Excuse me, yeah, I used to my
mom is a part of Jim Dandy's and that back
in the days, you don't want the tundrae you.
Speaker 6 (01:14:40):
Okay, I haven't skied, but you know Kensington, get on
on those toboggan runs.
Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
That's rock.
Speaker 5 (01:14:50):
It's still fun. That's really. That's the same thing.
Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
In years.
Speaker 5 (01:14:59):
I'm a large guy. I love going to ski lodges,
like that's the best part for me. Like you, I
could be Asping, I could be in so what is
it Salt Pass or whatever? Uh not Soft Past Lake too,
so I had But anyway, like all those places put
me down for the lines man, go in there and
getting nice brew. And then I was in Aspen something
about it. Are you your beer drinker like you, you
(01:15:22):
enjoy a good good on tap.
Speaker 3 (01:15:24):
I do.
Speaker 5 (01:15:25):
Okay, so I wasn't not a beer too much, but yes,
but I'm your friend, and I won't say so legitimate. Like, so,
first time I really got into beer would have been
out and Aspen and I remember getting a Stella on
tap and I went got Stell on tap. First of all,
it was the most amazing taste. It was the best
thing ever. I'm talking Abut'm in Aspen, I'm Colorado on myles,
(01:15:46):
I'm like this. It was perfect. It was beautiful. I said, man,
I gotta gotta, I gotta get some of that. So
I came back home. I was standing in Royal Loak
at the time, at a condo in Royal Lope. I'm
at the bars. I'm like, he, let me get a
stellar Artois on tap. Never has tasted the same, Yeah,
and never has tasted the same. That it's different when
you go out there.
Speaker 2 (01:16:06):
Yeah, Iraqi, I agree one hundred percent. There are certain
places where they just do things differently. They do things better,
I suppose. But I'm with you on that, Okay, next
go ahead, Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
Randall's small. He actually has a couple of super chats here.
Speaker 6 (01:16:23):
The first one goes back to our markets Sasser discussion
two dollars. He's number two in the chat today, says
why not run two units and help him with his development?
Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
Cool?
Speaker 5 (01:16:33):
I would like you to answer that question, and then
jumping the sheep.
Speaker 4 (01:16:36):
Yeah, definitely listen. That's is not the way they do
basketball today.
Speaker 6 (01:16:40):
I feel like there was a time in high school
and maybe collegiate athletics, maybe a time in sports where
they had an expanded lineup. But today teams are going
about eight maybe nine deep, and that put sassa on
the outside of it. Chep actually ran down some names
earlier and it was just like, you know what, it's
gonna be tight, It's gonna be Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:17:00):
I think JB. Bickerstaff and any coach in the NBA,
I doubt they're going much more than nine in their rotation.
So let's just say this team is healthy. Cad Cunningham,
Jaden ivy Ron Holland, Asar Thompson, Jalen Duran, Isaiah Robinson, LeVert,
(01:17:23):
Tobias Harris. There's nine right there. Yeah, Okay, so we
did not mention even Jenkins. Okay, so if Daris Jenkins
in there, that's ten guys. And by the way, those
nine guys we mentioned, those are all legit. Yeah, they're
all brought in. It's not like, well, we've got to
find some room for you. They brought in Robinson and
Lavert for a reason.
Speaker 5 (01:17:44):
They've crafted spaces for those.
Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Stewart and Durham, Harris, those guys are those guys are
important pieces to Green. Yeah, sorry, okay, anyway, Jenkins gives
me ten. Yeah. I don't know how you're gonna feed
anybody else. I mean, if this were Brailin teaching your
(01:18:10):
kids and he wants to make sure everybody's getting from
playing time, I get it. That's not the way it works.
Speaker 5 (01:18:15):
Three kids, that's all I get. Three three kids. Can
I can explain.
Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
I'm gonna play three on three, three guys against.
Speaker 5 (01:18:22):
Your best three guys, three on two, two on one.
That's all I got.
Speaker 2 (01:18:25):
I just mentioned nine guys really important to this team's success.
That's good, and he goes Javonte Green, there's.
Speaker 4 (01:18:34):
No more charity ball here. That's what I think.
Speaker 6 (01:18:36):
I like, you look at some of the names that
have played in the Piston's uniforms problem for this renaissance.
It's like, you know what I'm glad now they got
their guys in place, they have a standard, and realistically,
even some of the guys they drafted, you're gonna have
to fight to get in there.
Speaker 4 (01:18:49):
It's no longer you just walk in in His handed
to you.
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
That tells you you've done something right. You've built the
right team.
Speaker 5 (01:18:55):
Lions twenty twenty one, Lions twenty twenty five.
Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
You've been saying it.
Speaker 2 (01:18:58):
It's a good example.
Speaker 6 (01:18:59):
Right more, Yeah, Randon, we got three more here so far. Randall,
he says, at set five out of super chest.
Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
So he up to it.
Speaker 6 (01:19:05):
For the Times Man, he says, does Terry Schooble really
want to deal with New York or LA media?
Speaker 4 (01:19:11):
I don't think he can handle it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:14):
I guess I would ask Randal, what makes you think
he can't. I don't think it matters. He's from the
Seattle area. It's not like that's a small area. Max
Schurzer is from a small area in Missouri and he
played for the Mets and the Blue Jays, two you know,
really big markets. Garrett Cole grew up in the Pittsburgh organization,
(01:19:34):
ends up playing for the Yankees. Jacob de Gram, I
think is from a small town in Texas. I don't
know how much that matters. I think these guys brainly
could speak to this better than I can. But if
athletes don't want to talk to you, they'll find a
way not to talk to you. They'll ask you like
shovey Otani. Not that it's the same thing, but he
(01:19:55):
only talks after he pitches, at least when I was
calling games and follow him with the Angels. That's what
we were told because I tried to talk to him
before a game.
Speaker 5 (01:20:04):
A lot of guys just say you know what, Especially
I thought it was only like doing a New Balance commercials.
Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
That was just I got next. Anyway, when you he
knows a lot more than that when you.
Speaker 5 (01:20:14):
Have parcept except you threw me, You threw me? And
Jalen tell Zalen, Kate, we got next? Tell Dalen and
just like this.
Speaker 2 (01:20:33):
But I think, yeah, I think a lot of these guys,
especially Pictures, are like goalies. Like goalies you're not supposed
to talk to day of so morning skate, you go
cover them. They won't talk to Jimmy Howard had no
problem with that. You know, certain guys, it's not a
big deal. Certain pictures, they don't care if you talk
to them. Others do, and if you've got a problem
(01:20:54):
to just say, you know, talk to me after I'm
done starting. I don't like to talk in between starts.
They can all always manipulated the way they want to,
so they'll be asked some tough questions if he goes
to LA or New York. It's not like he hasn't
been asked tough questions now, and he's really good anyway.
So I don't think it really matters.
Speaker 5 (01:21:10):
Doing media and New York. Playing for the Knicks, I
mean paying I'm lying. I did not play for them,
playing for the New York Jets. What I realize is
that it's not you go to these big cities and
all of a sudden there's more questions to ask. They
could care less about what you do in your personal life,
unless you make your personal life the store. That's the
difference from New York. Like if you're if you're just
just playing ball. Terror School is a ball player. Yeah,
(01:21:31):
Terror School's not going out in Manhattan and getting drunk
and doing all the things the two kids. Now, he's
a guy that's playing baseball and that's all he wants
to talk about. That's all he cares about and that's
all you see. Only questions that New York media will
ask him is about baseball. So they won't ask him
some kind of questions because it's New York and they
put him on the spot and make him feel uncomfortable
because he's a small town kid. It don't work like that.
(01:21:51):
Like what you put out there for people is what
the New York media will cover. So if you're putting
out a bunch of other stuff, other extra curricular ideas,
after they asked you about the football field or the
ice or the baseball diamond or the court, they're gonna
ask you about those extracurricular activities that you're doing. So
it's not necessarily tougher, especially if ball is the thing
(01:22:13):
that you care most about, or put talking about hockey,
and he cares about baseball more than anything. At least
I can say that much about him, and you can't tell.
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Unless you're involved in some type of charity, like Matthew
Boyd was involved in a charity here in Detroit, and
we made it a point anytime we sat him down
and we had some type of opportunity to express to
the viewing audience what Matthew Boyd was all about we
would make sure we mentioned his.
Speaker 5 (01:22:38):
And that endears you to athletes, who gets you more
conversation because now they're like, wait, they care more than
just about what I do on the baseball field. A
basketball court is like, all right, you know what that
Matt Shepherd is something to him and anytime he wants
to interview my interview because he cared about my foundation,
He's showing people that I do more than just catch
that down.
Speaker 1 (01:22:56):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:22:56):
So good question, but I don't think it matters all
that much. Matt Matthew boys a good example. He's from
Mercer Island, Washington. He played in Chicago for the Cubs.
I don't that's a big market. I don't think it
would remember that much. I think Trek Scooble could handle
that just fine.
Speaker 4 (01:23:09):
Yeah, yeah, definitely. A.
Speaker 6 (01:23:11):
We got two Lions super chats in here. We wrap
up this segment of super chests. We got B one
G B one two G A. He sends in A
one on the nine standup B wondering B one G
B one two G A thirty B.
Speaker 2 (01:23:28):
One B one B big too?
Speaker 4 (01:23:33):
What a name.
Speaker 2 (01:23:35):
Is he playing? Is he is? He's doing B one
G is he making B one two and then one
two B one two g A.
Speaker 4 (01:23:44):
I'm wondering B I T G I g A. You
got Georgia.
Speaker 2 (01:23:48):
Mm hmm, he's got me. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:23:55):
Bermieham George cruising Alabama to Georgia.
Speaker 4 (01:24:00):
Listen, man, he says, when do you call Rag now
and check in?
Speaker 5 (01:24:08):
Like this is actually funny because like, what was it
after the after the green Bay game, that was like
very much a thing. That was very much a thing.
Speaker 2 (01:24:15):
Look, I think after the Minnesota game it was the thing.
Speaker 5 (01:24:17):
Actually, after after the Minnesota game it was serious. Yeah,
I think the Green Bay was all right where you
had Frank, we need help first game of season. Now
we're just joking. After that Minnesota game, it was like, hey, Frank, man,
look this is this is your.
Speaker 2 (01:24:29):
Former coast stuff right here.
Speaker 3 (01:24:31):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:24:32):
I think I think the ship is sail. At this
particular point, you knew what Frank ragnow. You knew how
long it took him to prepare for games when he
had all those injuries and he still was on the contract,
he still was playing. He did everything in his power,
and it took forever to be able to go through
a game and take a game off and go through
a game. I don't think that there's any way that
will get Frank ragnow back. I don't think he's even
looking to come back now. I think he looks at
(01:24:54):
the team and wishes that he could still play, But
I don't think it's anywhere he would come back.
Speaker 2 (01:24:59):
I'll tell you what. This has really made me appreciate
that fans now probably have a greater appreciation for those
big fellows up front. Yeah, you know, I mean, because
we all gravitate no offense, Brailan. We all gravitate to
the wide receivers, and I get it. We gravitate to
the quarterbacks, of course, and we want the defensive ends.
But those mean fellows up front, and quite honestly, the
defensive tackles the defensive front four. He has said, you
(01:25:22):
know for a while, now look at the defensive line,
and how does your offensive line match up. It's the
big concern for Braylan moving forward is that Detroit's offensive
line has become a weaker point than it was a
year ago, and they're going up against some really good
defensive lines. And if you don't believe that, look at
the defensive lines they've played the losses are to some
(01:25:44):
of those teams, like Chris Jones has been really good Philadelphia.
I mean that that Davis Carter matchup might be the
best def DT and DT matchup in all the NFL. Spooky,
So it's it's really hard.
Speaker 5 (01:25:57):
Well, it's so funny too, because Howie Roseman account for
all those Georgia players within the span of three years.
It just seems like nobody wanted to draft in these
Georgia players. Obviously there was some there were some things
with some of them, and so people stayed away from him.
He drafted all those Georgia players, and now they're just
all making plays. Every time you look up and he
says the name, it's a Georgia player.
Speaker 2 (01:26:16):
What was he?
Speaker 5 (01:26:16):
Pro Georgia player, Nikobe Georgia player.
Speaker 2 (01:26:19):
Yeah, Ringo's more of a more he's been more of
a special teams guy, true, but he makes place he was.
Speaker 5 (01:26:26):
He was a high way he was a first round grade, yes,
and going second round.
Speaker 2 (01:26:30):
And I wanted him. I'm like, man, I love the
way that guy plays.
Speaker 5 (01:26:33):
I watched the Michigan game. I wanted them all.
Speaker 2 (01:26:36):
Let me ask you this, in all serious seriousness, I
understand the Carter hesitation. I think you do too, Even
though you were pretty much the first guy on board
with that, I was not. I don't understand how you
Jordan Jordan Davis.
Speaker 5 (01:26:50):
The big thing for him was waight at the time
when he was at Georgia, he was three hundred and
sixty five pounds, because three sixty five and that scene,
I think it's junior or his junior Georgia, and he
got down the three fifty. But he still is a
big man. He's a tall man, operating six of six hundred,
operating a three hundred and fifty five, three hundred and
sixty pounds. You don't know if that weight fluctuates to
what it doesn't I one of the things coming out
(01:27:11):
about him was that he did not have control over
his weight. I just say, his baby fat like the kids. Legitimately,
twenty twenty one, he's going to lose that just naturally.
It's not like he's gonna come up here and eat
a bunch of Coney Island. But you know, I digress,
and now you've seen it. He's lost a lot of
weight right now. For your health, Damn it does that.
Damn was serious, by the way, But yeah, I think
(01:27:32):
that was the big point was worrying about his weight
and would it fluctuate, going back and forth Mike Williams
type deal.
Speaker 9 (01:27:38):
He was.
Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
Based on the programs. I don't know. Sometimes those lie.
He's listed with three thirty six. Yeah, right now, but
he doesn't you know, I don't know what three thirty
six looks like. He doesn't play like three thirty six.
He's got nimble feet.
Speaker 5 (01:27:55):
He turned for a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (01:27:57):
The move was just fine to me.
Speaker 5 (01:27:58):
Was at the beginning of this season. Was last year
when I had the return for a touchdown? Maybe even
last year in the playoff run. I don't recall he
was three forty rolling. It's like a sixtyig boy Roland. Yeah,
so he if you had to do over again.
Speaker 2 (01:28:11):
That was twenty twenty one.
Speaker 5 (01:28:13):
Was that draft?
Speaker 2 (01:28:14):
Is that right? That's Aden Hudchinson draft.
Speaker 5 (01:28:15):
Correct, So you still get eight, but you had Jamimes
trade back, trade up to get jama who was.
Speaker 2 (01:28:20):
Taken just before Jordan Davis. I believe, I mean, Kool
Ai can check me on that. I'm pretty sure Jamison
Williams was twelve. I believe Jordan Davis was right after him, thirteen.
And the only reason I remember that Is because I
thought when they traded into that, I'm like, I was
literally talking to a buddy of mine who lives in
Atlanta and what we were texting, and I said, holy crap,
(01:28:43):
Detroit's going to get a defensive end and Davis at
thirteen Yep, he was at thirteen. Yeah, right after Jamis.
Speaker 1 (01:28:49):
That's what I thought.
Speaker 2 (01:28:49):
So I said, Detroit just moved up. They're going to
get their d ND and the DT. And my buddy's
a big Georgia fans, so he's like, you're getting Davis.
I'm like, I can't wait.
Speaker 5 (01:28:59):
This is going to be And think about it from
this point, man, think about it from this perspective, and
if you would have got Jordan, we're not playing that game.
Speaker 2 (01:29:08):
I don't mean to start, but we are.
Speaker 5 (01:29:09):
Playing that game. If you would have been able to
get both of those in that particular year, you know
who didn't do anything for the Lions that season. You
know who didn't do anything for the Lions that next
season until the last couple of games and then the playoff,
James Williams. So you essentially didn't even need Jameson Williams
for that playoff run that particular year. And he didn't
use them the year before that, so you would have
had Jordan Davis and Aiden Hudson, so he would have
(01:29:29):
already had his cam Heyward.
Speaker 2 (01:29:31):
Yeah, a full disclosure. I thought that's the reason they
were trading up the guy I wanted when to pick
after that? I wanted Kyle Hamilton. That was easy guy.
I loved him at Notre Dame. I mean, I thought
he was fantastic. Easy tweeted something last night that surprised
me a little bit. He said, the Lions don't pass
(01:29:51):
the smell test. I want to get your thoughts on that.
What the smell test is? Ooh, that smell and a
whole lot more. But first we're gonna hear from Less
Stanford and Jack's car Wash, and Less Stanford has that's

you want that to stick around for as long as

(01:30:12):

Speaker 6 (01:30:42):
Hey, I was gonna say jump on these deals. Six
ninety nine for that Humber is still really good. It's
really last month it was five ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
Yeah, but last month it was a two twenty, it
was a twenty twenty five. This is a twenty twenty
twenty six.
Speaker 4 (01:30:53):
Big.
Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
Yeah, it's fine.

which I happen to avoid, and I said, okay, So
there the street left, so I grabbed one. I got
the strawberry banana, my favorite. So I'm excited.
Speaker 5 (01:36:45):
Got a little kill in here, man, A little apple
to you, you know, a little spinach, some celery in there.
Speaker 2 (01:36:51):
It's good, some lemon, good vitamins.
Speaker 5 (01:36:52):
It's got some berries in there as well, trying to
mask some of that taste. So you know what, I
think I picked well today. Man, what do you say, Brandy?
You good over there?
Speaker 2 (01:37:00):
It's amazing.
Speaker 8 (01:37:00):
I think I got a strawberry ban I'm not sure.
Speaker 2 (01:37:05):
What about you, kool A, What did you get?
Speaker 4 (01:37:06):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
What it is?
Speaker 2 (01:37:08):
But it's good.
Speaker 5 (01:37:09):
It's lemon, but it's like lemon limon some vibe to it.
Speaker 4 (01:37:12):
Something anything, strawberry and it's just good.
Speaker 2 (01:37:16):
It is delicious, smoothie King. They know what they're doing.
They do know what they're doing. We hope the Lions
know what they're doing with the rest of their schedule.
Maybe real off seven straight wins. I'd love to see that.
Sometimes we try. They'll be favored in the next three games,
okay before they hit Los Angeles, right, would be their number.
Fourth is the fourth game of the stretch. They'll be
(01:37:38):
favored against the Giants, they'll be favorite against the Packers,
and they'll be favorite Cowboys. Maybe maybe you don't think
they'll be favored in those three games.
Speaker 5 (01:37:46):
I think might they might be favorite. We gotta see
what just see the Lion team look like. Look, I'm
not saying that the Dallas Cowboys are a better team.
But I'm saying you take into consideration what they've changed
and what they've added. Defensive line looks different. That's what's
given the Detroit Proms right now. It's a defensive line.
And when you added Quentinn Williams, Kenny Clark now has
somebody plays side by wrecking ball. I'll watched that game
(01:38:07):
last night. It's the Raiders raided. Offensive line stinks. So
I'm not making it much about that, just like I
got to make much about the Lions being the commanders.
But when you watch how good Quinn Williams is. He
played for the Jets, so I've watched him for a
very long time Alabama as well, and it seems like
he's getting back healthy. You add that it's gonna be tough,
and you look at the offensive side of the ball.
That's the other thing. Can you whose offense is inconsistent?
(01:38:30):
The Lions offense has been inconsistent all seasons, especially when
playing against teams with good defensive line or good teams
that Dallas Cowboys. They play indoors. This is like a
home game for them in terms of the terrain. They're
number one of the highest scoring offenses in the League,
Dak Prescott, who regular season hero whatever you want to
call him, he's playing really good this year for himself.
(01:38:52):
And then also he's got George Picker as a weapon
who he uses more than Ceedee Lamb, who's just coming
back for injury. So when you look at that game
and what it's gonna be, it's not the same Dallas
Cowboys that you were gonna see and we won two
through four. It's a different team.
Speaker 2 (01:39:06):
What are you saying, are you seeing the Cowboys? You
think the Cowboys will beat the Lions?
Speaker 5 (01:39:11):
Know what I'm saying is they provide much different tasks
than you had before. And what do the Lions look
like in the next two games? What do the Lions
look like when they played this week against a winnable
game against the New York Giants with Jackson Dark Is
he gonna play or is he not? Is Jamison Williams
and j bo Like, we know that offense stinks, they
have some injuries, offensive lines struggling, The defensive line was good.
(01:39:33):
What does it look like getting back after this loss
to the Eagles. What does the Green Bay Packers game
look like on Thanksgiving? And then obviously you come back
to Dallas. So I think that's a much tougher game. Now,
it's not like one when we were oh man, they
don't have Michael parisons and Dak's not doing anything, and
everybody's heard Jay Jones is a side show. It blew.
It looks a lot different. Jay Jones has been quiet.
(01:39:55):
I heard him at the microphone.
Speaker 2 (01:39:57):
Well, I've heard him after every single game, after the game,
after the game, all fair points. Dallas could look a
lot different going into the Detroit game too. And the
reason that is just because they have to play Philadelphia,
right and then and then they got to play Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (01:40:16):
That's the thing. And I'm glad they got to play
both of those teams. I'm predicting this now they will
beat both of them. They're gonna That Eagles offense, I
don't know what you guys don't understand. That Eagles offense
is trash. And I have been saying this for four
or five weeks. So now that they've looked trash two weeks,
where I can stand on business. I don't like what
that offense looks like. And when you play the Cowboys,
(01:40:36):
one thing that you have to do is score points.
You have to score points. Because now they got two
running backs. Now they have a tight end that they love.
Ferguson last summer text has nine touchdowns this season. So
I'm just saying that they have a lot who says
they can't beat the Eagles, which is a division arrival,
which they all they went back and forth with early
in the year, and then that second game the Chiefs.
(01:40:58):
The Chiefs have all been given up, the teachers will
all but giving up. So I'm just saying, don't let.
Speaker 2 (01:41:04):
I'm just saying that that that's a Remember that's a
Kansas City team that you warned me three weeks ago.
You said, look, remember we said the same thing about
them two years ago, and you you saw them as
a team that was going to catch fire and be
better and not necessarily win the division, but we're gonna
we're gonna make the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:41:22):
True. But like one thing about me is like I
can detach quick, and I can detach quick, and it
made me a terrible boy friend earlier years in my
life because I can attest quick. But I'm telling you,
like looking at that, you're one hundred percent right Ohan
here going there.
Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
It's none of my business.
Speaker 5 (01:41:35):
I'm talking about what I did in my past, my past,
Like I can talk about that, I talk about all
the time when you're talking about what they've done, it
was fair to make that comment. When I'm talking about
when I'm consistently saying after making that comment, they're still struggling,
they still don't have a sense of awareness about themselves
in the offensive line. It just it looks like this
could be the end this season. Now what they doing
(01:41:56):
off season is up to them, but it's looking more
and more like this could be the one they finally missed.
Speaker 2 (01:42:01):
Basically, what you're telling us, you're warning us be careful
assuming that that's an automatic win against Dallas because of
their record and because of their early struggles defensive.
Speaker 5 (01:42:12):
Also, don't forget you embarrassed the hell out of this
team two years ago. This is one excuse me, not
two years ago. Last year, this day Hudgson game. This
was Dayton Hudchinson game. This was we're gonna get you
back for Dan Skipper reporting and then now reporting. According
to the rest in Dallas, Jerry's were like, that's on
their mind, Like we dealt them a nice one, and
this is something that you'll be thinking about a lot
(01:42:33):
of these guys were on that team, especially the quarterback
and starting wide receivers. So just it's going to be
a different game than it was going to be a
month ago.
Speaker 2 (01:42:44):
I would. I do agree with you in the sense
that you've got to score. So in their losses, they've
scored twenty points. They've scored fourteen points, they've scored twenty
seven that was against Carolina, and they've scored twenty four
and that was against the Broncos and seventeen against the Cardinals.
(01:43:05):
So they're a high scoring offense. Remember, I believe against
the Cardinals they didn't have CD Lamb, so that matters
without a doubt. He might have missed the Broncos games. Ye,
so those are two games right there if you're not
at full strength. I'm not making excuses for him, because
if we're going to go down that road, we better
start making sure we're making excuses for what the Lions
(01:43:26):
are missing too, and we don't do that. So I'm
not making excuses for them. I'm just validating your point.
Even in their losses save for two, and they weren't
at full strength, they've got to they put.
Speaker 1 (01:43:37):
Up some points.
Speaker 2 (01:43:38):
So you're gonna want to score against them interesting. So
yesterday Easy said Detroit doesn't pass the smell tests. What
do you think that means? That's a common phrase used
in sports. I think I think it's a different way
of saying the eye test personally. But what do you
think the smell test is on the Lions right now?
I think thinky Deiper, I.
Speaker 5 (01:43:59):
Think that's what I think that's what he's saying. I
think it's a sneaky I think he's saying he believes
it's a stinky diver. It's not clean in.
Speaker 2 (01:44:05):
Terms of super Bowl. It's got changing or playoffs.
Speaker 5 (01:44:09):
It's a real deal. I found that stat randomly. I
looked it up, so I guess it wasn't that random.
There have only been two teams that have ever won
the Super Bowl after being the third place after week eleven.
Because I know it sounded like a specific fact. It's
not after week eleven, Yeah, because I didn't say after
third place after week four, five, six, this week eleven.
This is pretty much into the end of the season.
(01:44:31):
This is when you know what you know are There's
only been two teams who ever win the super Bowl
in the history of the Super Bowl era.
Speaker 2 (01:44:37):
Was one of them, Kansas city. They're brought up.
Speaker 5 (01:44:39):
It was not.
Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
Pittsburgh won is a wild card.
Speaker 5 (01:44:43):
Yeah, and that's the one I would have guessed. And
it was not because they stayed second I was. I
played for Browns that year. They stayed second place.
Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
The year Green Bay won as a wild card as well.
Speaker 5 (01:44:52):
That's another good one. It's not them. One's kind of easy,
like one is a big team never wins anymore. But
they got five six super Bowls. And we just talked
about this city, cold city.
Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
So oh cold city, a cold city.
Speaker 5 (01:45:07):
Because where did I say I will live?
Speaker 2 (01:45:10):
You said a few things. You said Florida, you said
New York, New or Yeah, the New York Giants in Houston,
the New York Giants.
Speaker 1 (01:45:17):
Just one.
Speaker 2 (01:45:18):
Yeah, it threw me off. He threw me off with
four or five rings. That scared me a little bit.
Immediately went to San Francisco, and I went to Dallas
and went to.
Speaker 5 (01:45:26):
I Save You in their second nineteen eighty eight San Francis,
San Francisco, they were behind the Saints and they were
behind the Rams and it ended up winning. And the
same thing.
Speaker 2 (01:45:35):
Would not have guessed that. Yeah, only two teams in
the history Giants and I get it.
Speaker 5 (01:45:39):
Maybe you look at it then and it's one extra game,
so blah blah blah. But that's I believe in certain history.
Speaker 2 (01:45:47):
Okay, I do too, not to get nitpicky. Is that
after eleven weeks or eleven games.
Speaker 5 (01:45:52):
This is after eleven weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:45:53):
Eleven weeks, okay, because Detroit, it's eleven weeks. As we know,
Detroit has played ten games. This is eleven weeks, right, Okay,
I'm specific about that, all right, all right, that's uh,
that's a fascinating that the smell test.
Speaker 5 (01:46:04):
Does not pass.
Speaker 2 (01:46:05):
No, and now easy you can use that later on
today on the Heavyweights from five to seven, that would be.
That's a really good little nugget for him. We'll get
to the mail bag. We'll get to some more super chats.
We've got more smoothie king to drink during a quick
time out after this from black Rocking Lady James.
Speaker 5 (01:46:23):

Speaker 1 (01:51:03):
I know.
Speaker 5 (01:51:03):
We talked about Lebron and the things that he's done,
like to pitch you off over the years every once
in a while randomly, or maybe it's just me. I
don't know. Like the one of the biggest things that
he's done and I don't like is the interviewing and
being cool with players during the season. Like if you
want to interview players, do all that kind of cool
stuff and all that cool jass, do that in the
off season. Like do that an off season when it
makes sense, Like I'm old school, Like when I used
(01:51:25):
to get into WWF in the eighties, Like you would
never see the Iron Sheet hanging out with Sergeant Slaughter.
Now they were hanging out and they were best friends
and things like that, but they but you didn't see
that because it was k fabe. You know, you kept
that going. Do that in the NBA, Like why is
like Lebron interviewing everybody that he wants to he's playing against, and.
Speaker 2 (01:51:42):
Why are other players you're talking about during this podcast,
during this podcast.
Speaker 5 (01:51:45):
During the season, and other players is doing it as well,
Like why you that buddy? Buddy was like, it's no
beef anymore. Okay, there's no battle, there's no back and forth.
Speaker 2 (01:51:54):
The last person to stick up for that guy is me. However,
do you have it? Did you have a problem with
your mirror Gibbs exchanging jerseys with Saquon Barkley last year.
Speaker 5 (01:52:03):
I don't care about the jerseys. What I'm thinking at
the end of the day when you look at people
because the game is over and collections at the end
of the day, Barkley jerseys he ran for two thousand
hoards last year and this appear at the time, it's
gonna look great at his lower level what it he has.
I don't have a problem with that, but like the
friendliness and I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:52:21):
I just don't like it. Yeah, it's it's not the
we know, it's not the way it used to be
in the NBA. And let's face it, there's another reason
why the Pistons are a little bit more of a
lure to us is because they play as close to
old school Pistons basketball fest that we've had in a while,
so we love that. I love that, Okay, I love
(01:52:43):
physical sports. I think it's important. Okay, I want to
see the second coming of Darren McCarty with somebody in
the corner. I love your attitude about you know what,
I am not. I am not going to be faced
with you, okay until the season is over. I love
how the Pistons have that mindset. I think it's awesome.
I really do. I don't think it's a tagline. I
(01:53:04):
don't think it's something cute for the media to lap
onto and say great dogs and all that other stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:53:09):
I think they truly need it.
Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
And I love that also too.
Speaker 5 (01:53:12):
When I played, like, yeah, we were going out and
hanging out yet, but it's if I run into you shup,
like I was hanging out with my teammates and my
family from Detroit. Like when you see me and you're
gonna see people from three one three, or you'll see
people that I play with. If I'm out with other
you know, football players and catch like that, it's because
they live in Miami. They happen to be in Vegas.
When I'm in Vegas or LA or New York. I'm
(01:53:32):
not reaching out to set person that players with Baltimore.
Ravens at Yo Ti sas Yo. You're trying to hang
out this weekend. Let's go do memorial Dan in Vegas.
I see you there. It's love. Yah. Yeah, we'll hang
out with do things where you handing to the night,
where you staying at. But I'm not purposely setting it
up back in the day like that. That's crazy talk.
Speaker 2 (01:53:49):
Yeah, I don't. I don't think you'd see MJ do
that back of the day either, Barkley. Imagine you get
a pass with two guys. Yeah, played golf with Barkley, right, Yeah,
just quick. Jeff Passing from ESPN says the Tigers are
going to get back into the Alex Brigman sweepstakes. There
(01:54:11):
are other teams involved too, by the way, including Boston.
Boston really likes him and as far as the Pistons
are concerned, there is an update on their injury list tonight.
Cad Cunningham is listed as questionable, so is Tobias Harris,
and so is this SR Thompson. Cool a go ahead, but.
Speaker 6 (01:54:32):
Yeah, Bran, if you look in the slack there, I'm
just trying to make sure I verify and double verify.
But it looks like Labor Torres. According to John Hayman
accepted the Tigers twenty two point.
Speaker 4 (01:54:44):
Zero two five million dollar qualifying offer. That just happened.
He just put that out about a minute or so.
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
We thank you for that great stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:54:51):
That's what That's what I was taking about.
Speaker 2 (01:54:53):
Yep. So I quite honestly, it's not super surprising to me.
The surprising part to me was that they are offered it.
Him accepting it is not surprising. I think he liked
it here. I think he believes this team's got a shot.
It's a weaker division, Kansas City's gonna make some moves.
Other teams are gonna make moves, maybe not like Detroit.
(01:55:13):
Suddenly you've got the second basement. So John Hayman says,
Labor Tourus accepts the twenty two million dollar qualifying offer
at age twenty nine, he'll be your second basement. I
think most people are okay with that unless he blocks
quote unquote one of the young guys. Where does Javier
Bayaz play could be in center field? Seriously?
Speaker 5 (01:55:34):
I mean he was good. He was good there.
Speaker 2 (01:55:38):
It made an All Star team. Because of that question
is will will he be the Javier Bias of the
second half hitting or the first half hitting, and what
will he do in the second half? What will Riley
Green do in the second half? Was terrible for all
of them, So we know.
Speaker 5 (01:55:54):
That, and the Asia has to have a conversation. Have
you bias? I don't know if it's gonna go listen
to ears, but I need him to have a conversation
like the second half of last season is not acceptable
because that goes back to what you were doing in
twenty three when you first got here and parts of
twenty four. That's not actually most all of twenty four,
if we want to be honest, that's not acceptable. He
needs to find he needs to find that bat, find
(01:56:15):
that sweet spot, find that coach, find something consistently in
this offseason. I don't know if the conversation is as
easy as that, but something needs to.
Speaker 2 (01:56:24):
Happen, because, yeah, I know a J. Hinch. I remember
he Winches. He actually went to have your boys his
home in the off season and they talked and they
talked a lot about you know, life and family and
baseball too, just to let him know, you know, the
support is there for so I appreciate that. I don't
(01:56:46):
I'm sure he would do something similar to that if
he felt it was needed just for perspective. Glabor Torres
not that I disagree with this, but labor Torres hit
two twenty three in the second half last year, had
fewer homers and fewer RBIs. Sometimes that's misleading because you
play fewer games in the second It's certainly not first half,
(01:57:06):
second half. It's pre All Star, it's post All Stars.
But his numbers were considerably lower in every category. Batting
average on base slug was almost one hundred points lower,
and OPS was over one hundred points lower. Those are
concerning stats, all right, anything in the mail bag there,
kol Ai, Yeah, EXACD.
Speaker 6 (01:57:27):
We have another super chat that I want to get
to here, Kinney Powers with a five down a super chat.
Speaker 4 (01:57:35):
He's getting it in man, he said.
Speaker 6 (01:57:37):
Friendly reminder, it's year five for this Lions coach. QB Duo,
the quarterback due on the coach. We all know the
history behind that Super Bowl or bust year.
Speaker 2 (01:57:46):
In my opinion, whether it's five years or not, I
think it's okay to have expected this team to reach
the Super Bowl. I did, and I'm going to be
disappointed if they don't get there. So I have a
standard for last year's Tigers team and say I think
they need to get to the World Series. They fall
(01:58:06):
short and say, oh it's okay, boy, that's a lot
of fun. Thanks for the ride, and then have the
same expectations for the Lions and be different. It's not fair.
So I thought the Tigers should be in the World
Series a year ago. I thought the Lions are a
Super Bowl contender this year. If they don't get there,
I think it's a failed season.
Speaker 3 (01:58:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:58:25):
At the end of the day, the last two years
Brad Holmes was Dan Campbell come to the podium before
the season said it is super Bowl or bus that
came out of their month, not mine. So based off
with the headman as well as his guy, Brad Holmes,
it's tells you if they don't make the Super Bowl
this year, it is a it is a failure. Now
who you want to equate that failure too? Is it
just currently constructed team coach by Dan Campbell or is
(01:58:47):
it some moves that were not made and could have
been made Now you have to add everybody into that.
Speaker 2 (01:58:51):
Pote Kelvin Sheppard via Instagram. Head up, ready to get
back to work. This team will respond, I don't have
any doubt. I don't think you do either. I don't
think that I don't have any doubt they're going to
respond to New York. That's not my issue.
Speaker 5 (01:59:03):
He's the one person right now, Buddy, we manachuin. Hey,
keep it up, keep it up. What you're knowing. You
got the big fellas up front, you got those guys going,
you got the DB's that are.
Speaker 2 (01:59:17):
Too you're not even healthy yet.
Speaker 5 (01:59:19):
Hey, you keep it up. We just has nothing to
do with you. And that's why that's why he's like, Hey,
look I'm doing I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:59:24):
Okay with that, you know what, And I'm okay with
the Instagram post. My problem with the lines is it's
not the response, it's the continuation after the response that
we haven't seen. It's been way too up and down.
Speaker 4 (01:59:36):
We got this one mail bag question I gotta read.
Speaker 2 (01:59:38):
Okay, go ahead, it's not even a question.
Speaker 4 (01:59:40):
But I know y'all like it. Man, This is from
XO taylof three mail bag. We want Tesla.
Speaker 2 (01:59:48):
Hey, that's just it.
Speaker 5 (01:59:50):
I'm actually happy they didn't use him this past weekend
because actually they should have because of the catch radious.
But at some point, at some point, you have three games,
all at home, all in the dome. You control these games.
You should win these three games, especially two of these
three games, like get it going out because don't try
to make this move. Be be don't try to make
this move in January if you make it, don't try
(02:00:10):
to make this move in December when it's like, oh,
we're going out to so far, let's showcase it now.
Don't try to make this move when it's at the
end of the season and it's like it's a green
beer in us and we game comes down to that.
Do it an now so there's comfortability. Do announce so
you can see it, because it's not some trick play.
It's not something that you're administering. It's like, oh, shoot,
you showed it too fast. He's six', four he runs
four to four the boy and can. Jump it's a
(02:00:33):
jumpboll like you can show.
Speaker 3 (02:00:34):
That SO i.
Speaker 5 (02:00:35):
Agree please Show tesla three games at the crib indoors perfect.
Speaker 2 (02:00:39):
Place i'm gonna be, Honest i'm tired of talking about. It,
okay we've been talking about it FOR i don't know
how long you, Said, look you said since the. Preseason, yeah,
WELL i may have been a little premature, there but
you said every thing after week, two did you know?
What excuse me in the red? Zone, YEAH i want
to see eighteen out. There and then two weeks ago you,
go there's two guys who need, lanes there's two guys
(02:01:02):
who need a pathway for the quarterback to, throw and
there's two guys who, don't and one guys In tesla
isn't on the damn. Field So i'm tired of talking about.
IT i don't know what it's gonna. Take let's hope
at some point it does take and they get him out.
