chat earlier today, and he's like, who's the Who's the
biggest Lions fan? I almost wanted to respond and say,
we're all Lions fans. It's just some of us are
a little bit more logical about our family.

Speaker 7 (03:42):
Am I wrong?

Speaker 2 (03:44):

Speaker 7 (04:15):
Oh come on, can we roll it back just a
month and a half.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Not a bad idea. We should go there, That would
be that would be a really cool road trip.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
Hey, you all, we do all the things.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Broadcast live from there come down. So, speaking of the Lions,
if they win tomorrow, their playoff percentage is at fifty
five percent, which doesn't make us all feel really warm
inside like a Buddy's pizza or anything, but it does
make us give hope. Right, they're gonna have their work

(04:45):
cut out for them. We've got some numbers here associated
with the Lions and the Cowboys coming in. We know
that the Cowboys have the number one passing offense in
the National Football League. They also allow the second fewest
pressures of any team in the National Football League. So
here you go. The points per game. By the way,

(05:06):
that from twenty nine to two for Detroit is way
down over the last three weeks. It's down to twenty
one point seven. Okay, that's important to note, so you
expect by looking all these I don't have to go
over them for you folks, can can see where Detroit
is ranked third in points Dallas two, total offense three
to one, rushing offense four and thirteen passing offense, third

(05:29):
down efficiency. Dallas has been really good as of late
in that regard. Okay, giveaways is always important. It's a
big reason why Chicago is so good, which is going
to have the harder time Detroit's offense against Dallas's defense,
which I know sounds funny, but you said it three
weeks ago when they got Quinn Williams. You're like, you
know what, I'm a little worried about the defensive line.

(05:51):
Or do you think it's Detroit's defense against that high
power Dallas.

Speaker 7 (05:55):
Oh that's tough. Also to these stats are funny, Like
stats are very interesting, Like you have to really know
how to read them because you'll look at the Dallas
Cowboys and see them rank first until the offense look
at the line and say, well they're ranked Thirdy, it
can't be that bad. And then you have to realize
that the bulk of the Lions offensive stats, yards, touchdowns
and all that they came against four teams. Like that's
how stats are very misleading, if you will, the Cincinnati game,

(06:18):
the Browns game, the Giants game that goes the Bears,
the Bears first game. But anyway, getting back to business,
it's not easy, man, it's not. It's not. And I
think I'm gonna have to the offense versus that defense.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Can you just give you a couple other numbers real
quick while you're where you're marinating on it. The defense
in the last three games for Dallas number two in
rushing and number nine in third down efficiency, they have
been really tough during this three game winning streak they have. Okay,
I know, Dak Prescott and company get all the loff

(07:01):
George Pickens, you've talked about, you talked about Ceedee Lamb.
The offensive line keeps him clean. But that defense of
the last three games is just as much a reason
for them winning as the offenses.

Speaker 7 (07:12):
Yeah, I'm gonna have to go with the Dallas Cowboys
offense versus the Lions defense. That's the one that I think.
That's the worst matterup for the Lions. I think on
the defensive side of the ball, Lions haven't played well.
Excuse me. On the offensive side of the ball, the
Lions hasn't necessarily played the best. However, when you look
at Dallas, like Dallas gave up forty four points to

(07:32):
the Broncos, twenty seven points to the Cardinals, and there
wasn't Cardinals in August. This was the Cardinals three weeks ago.
They gave up twenty seven eight lost that game. The
Raiders found sixteen points on the Coleboys, the Eagles, and
we know their offense is abysmal right now, they scored
twenty one points and then obviously the Chiefs they scored
twenty eight. They don't we don't have Patrick Mahomes, but
that offense hasn't been cookinges they scored twenty eight. So

(07:54):
there you can move on that defense. Our defense though,
like that secondary secondary struggle struggled with multiple wide receiver groups,
multiple cores that are nowhere near the level of a
CD Lamb and the George Pickens like Dak Prescott and
what that offense has. And now they have two running
two running backs that they can switch the pimple up,
switch the pace up, they can change up the rhythm,

(08:15):
they can change up the flow. Ferguson is the league
leader in touchdowns at the tight end position. What on
the defense, lets us know that we can stop an
offense like that in terms of what we've seen play
out like, Remember, this is a defense struggle with the Giants,
they struggle with the Vikings, they struggle with a couple
offenses that they've seen recently. That secondary, Who in the

(08:36):
secondary do you believe in matching up against CD or
George Pickens? Currently, who do you believe in currently the
match up with Jake Ferguson.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Who do you I don't quite honestly.

Speaker 7 (08:46):
And then their big thing is passing the ball. Where
have we seen consistent pressure or even hurries at this point?
When have you seen pressures or hurries or getting home
to the quarterback where you think you can knock them
off their their their their.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Rhythm, their skill. All right, well here's can I This
might be a reach, but if I'm if you ask
the question, so I'm gonna try and answer it. If
I believe in anybody I believe in. If it's a
matchup branch On Ferguson, I would believe in that more
than anybody else.

Speaker 7 (09:15):
Branch has struggled. I know, I know he's been struggling.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
I know you're you're asking. I'm really grasping at straws here.
I'm not gonna. I don't think it's DJ Reid against
George Pickens. I don't think it's a Meek Robertson against
Ceedee Lamb. You're asking me for an answer. It's pretty
tough to do that, especially knowing that Dallas keeps Dak
Prescott clean as much as beds as well as any
offensive line does for their quarterback. So if fork To knows,

(09:42):
I've got to pick branch On Ferguson even though he
too has struggle and Pickens.

Speaker 8 (09:47):
Is officially off the injury port according to the.

Speaker 7 (09:49):
Top of the so just now he's gonna play regardless.
Theo Johnson is not as good as Titian as Jake Ferguson,
and Theo Johnson gave Brian branch issues.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
I know, I know.

Speaker 7 (09:58):
To your point, like I'm I'm not saying that it's
not impossible. I'm just saying you asked me what side.
I think it's the Cowboys offense versus the Lions defense.
That's the one I'm most nervous about because what happens
in that one if the Cowboys, and it's always gonna
be an if it's about if the Cowboys come out
looking like they look in the past four games on offense,
that means they score quick, that means they score early,

(10:18):
That means they start off twenty one twenty four points
at the have like that's gonna be a tough and
a tall order for this Lion's offense to keep pace.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
Is this the best wide receiver duo they will face
this year.

Speaker 7 (10:34):
Obviously, the other one would be out in Los Angeles.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
Right which is next week, Cincinnati. You had a good
one too, but they had no one who to deliver
the football to them.

Speaker 7 (10:43):
I would say yes. And the reason why is CD
and George Pickens can do everything from basically twenty to
red zone. They both can. They both can stretch the field.
They both can over the middle of the field. They
both can catch the slant and take it further. They
both can get in the red zone and get feature
and score in the red zone. When you play against
the Rams, DeVante Adams is going to be your wide

(11:04):
receiver twenty five and then pooking the coop is going
to be a arrived receiver twenty to twenty. And that's
what you know, and that's what you expect twenty to twenty.
They're going to pooking the cool once they get inside
that thirty at twenty five, the fringe area, that's the
Vanta Adams, that's where he shines. That's why he leaves
the league. When you go against the Cowboys, both those
guys can go twenty to the end zone. If that's
how they operate with them. Looking last game, Ceedee Lamb

(11:26):
one hundred and eighteen yards touchdown. That was his makeup
game for the past game. The game before that, George
Pickens one hundred and thirty yards one hundred and forty
yards to a touchdown. So I would say it bed
this team.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
Here's a tougher question, by the way, Detroit. I mean,
there's there's been some really good wide receiver combos. Yeah,
against the Hawaians this year. I mean still I still
think not that they're better, but justin Jefferson and Jordan
Adison is a really good wide receiver combo. We mentioned Cincinnati,
really good wide receiver combo. Chicago's got a good receiver combo.

(11:59):
It's not as good, But I'm just saying there's some
really talented.

Speaker 7 (12:02):
I'm just looking at. But it's when you would have
faced these individuals, so that when you played against the
Philadelphia Eagles, who have two really good wide receiver from Brown,
you played in a win game where they wouldn't throwing
the boss. You didn't have to deal with it. When
you play it against Chase and t Higgins man Joe Flacco. Yeah,
and actually it was at the University of Washington, Like

(12:23):
that's the quarterback you saw in that space. So when
you see CD and George Pickens, you're going to see
a full, healthy offensive line. You're gonna see two running backs,
and you're gonna see a quarterback that if we're being honest,
if something special happens for the Cowboys down in the stretch,
you might have a guy an MVP race.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
So dude, I was just gonna bring this up. I
don't I don't want to upset you because I know
you're not a huge fan, but you do appreciate what
he's done in the regular in his career. Is this
the best quarterback they face all year? They've already faced
Patrick Mahomes, They've already faced your favorite guy. They're about
to face face a guy who might be in the
running for the m v P.

Speaker 7 (13:00):
Is he the.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Best quarterback they will face this year in Dak Prescott.
Yeah he is.

Speaker 7 (13:04):
You look at the stats. His stats are pretty much
secondary right now to only Matt Stafford the majority of
the stats. And obviously I think Drake may Lee's the
league in passing and Dak second, touchdowns, Dak second, Dak's third,
He's right there. Yards per game. I want to see
Dak is actually first in that regard. And also everybody's healthy.
That's what's working so well for the Cowboys. The offense
is healthy, their second running back having him back, and

(13:26):
how he changes up the floida game. So you're catching
this offense at the best time for them of the season.
Everyone's healthy and everybody's activated. Agree, So I would say, yes,
Dak will be the best PA.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
So you are one hundred percent right. He is number
one in yards per game. Take out Jameis Winston. All right,
it's not fair. He's number one in yards per game,
second in yards overall. Okay, but yards per game, Dak
Prescott's number one yards overalls, Drake may then him touchdowns,
it's Matthew Stafford, then Dak Prescott. Okay. Completion percentage on

(13:59):
how important that this to you? Sometimes that's very misleading
because you have guys who' dropped some balls like Ceedee
Lamb earlier this year.

Speaker 7 (14:05):
Was dropped her in passes.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
Yeah, it was a bit.

Speaker 7 (14:07):
And even when he came back to he had a
bad game. That's when George Pickens went off maybe like
three or four weeks ago. But the other side of that, too,
is where you have to give Dak predit. I'm not
in the habit of giving Dallas Dak and damn sure not.
Brian shotting him my credit. But look, you're gonna come
up here, you're gonna talk about people when they do bad,
you better be able to have the ability to say
good things too. That did most, That did a lot
of that without ced Lamb. So when we talk about

(14:29):
Ceede Lamb and George Pickens, oh well he had Ceede
Lamb and George Pickens. He's got Fergus and he's got
of course, no, no, no, no, Ceedee Lamb is six
weeks and he still look cute those stats. He still
was balling like that one thing he's done his recruit
whole career. Turn the ball over. That hasn't turned the
ball over here, right, And this is what no CD
for six weeks. So you really have to tip your
cat to what Dak is doing coming into the season.

(14:52):
You saw the arm sleeve, he saw he got tatted up.
You saw he lost weight. He wanted to flex and
show his guns. And I made jokes of all that
in the because I'm not a Dak fan. But now
when you look at it, whatever he did in the offseason,
he took the season series like Jerry Jones and Michael
Parsons and all. That may have been one thing, but
Dak separated himself from that and he focused. He's a

(15:12):
much better player. It's still the regular season, but he's
a much better player than he has been. He's just
it looks different.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Well, it also helps that they keep him clean. I'm
not taking anything away from Dak Prescott. By the way,
he's fifth and completion percentage, but I'm not taking anything
away from him. It's not like I've slid over to
the Bralan side and said I don't believe in the guy.
I think you're right. He's always had good regular seasons,
but the postseason had been a challenge for him, and
he'll have to slay that dragon if they indeed do

(15:41):
make the playoffs. But it does help when you're protected.

Speaker 7 (15:45):
Yeah, but that's no different to Jered Goff like no,
I agree like Dak Prescott, he's a fourth round quarterback.
Let's go back to that. Dak is a fourth rounder.
If you're that great, if you're that good, then you're
not getting passed the first second rounder if you're a quarterback.
He got to four. But people don't talk about this.
When he was drafted, he had a Hall of Fame
offensive line. Tyron Smith is going in the Hall of

(16:07):
Fame first ballot. Zach Martin might be the best guard
in the last twenty five years. He's going in the
Hall of Fame. Ezekiel Elliott rush for sixteen hundred yards,
Amari Cooper on one side, Dez Bryan on the other side.
Good point, Like, man, you have all this, this is
what you inherre.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
Travis Fredrickson was the center boy forgot about fraction.

Speaker 7 (16:25):
One of her So when you inherit this like when
you get offensive line, Like he's basically having a same
similar situation now, like the offensive line started getting weak.
The running game was terrible. Ezekielle got old. They tried
to force I can't think of the guy that got
real Pollard trying to force him. It just wasn't working. Now,
your offensive line a couple first round and second rounders

(16:45):
over the last three years. You got two stud wide
receivers at Alpha Alpha, and you got two running backs.
So it looks like his rookie year, his first two
to three years in the league, Like you put somebody
behind that put Jered goff behind that. That's the same
conversation we had about Jerry last year. Before you give
him an offensive line, you give him a run game,
you give him a coordinator who knows what we're doing,
shot and ims drawn up some stuff down there with

(17:07):
the with the Cowboys, and give him two wide outs
and you can have a lot of.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Sk What have you noticed about their offense that you
appreciate that I always think of if you when I
see teams throw for a lot of yards, and I
try to get in your mind thinking, you know what,
I'd love to play in that offense? What is it
about their offense that would excite you as a wide
receiver or an offensive player in general?

Speaker 7 (17:28):
They don't force it like it's not an offense where
they're just like, look, all right, cool, we have to
get George Pickens one hundred yards right now. We have
to get CD his seven eight catches to make him happy. Hey, Fergs,
we didn't forget about you. We're gonna make sure we
feature you on nine ten plays. Like when you try
to operate that way, it's chaos and you never are
able to achieve what you want to achieve.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
It the teams do operate that way you're saying.

Speaker 7 (17:50):
And they typically fall off and the typically faltered with
this offense. When you watch it, they're taking what's given.
Even though it's big plays, it's chunk plays, it's a
lot of yards, Dak Prescott, Brian Schottenheimer. They're taking what's
they're they're taking what's available. Hey, Ferguson, you know what
they like to play a lot of They like to
play a lot of his own Like I'm thinking's gonna
feature you. It's a zone situation. They get him open

(18:10):
and the spots over the middle of the field a CD.
This is a team, man, They're gonna pressure up the
line of scrimmage and we don't think they can run
with you. And what do they do last week? Boom boom? So.
I think they do a very good job of seeing
what the defense is and really operating within it. Just
because they have these stars and all the star power,
they don't just feed them. They feed them when the
time is right.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
If Schottenheimer is that his offense, I mean you know it?

Speaker 7 (18:31):
Okay, Yeah, he loves the run game, like shot. He's
old school. His father's Marty Schottenheimer, and he comes from
being able to run the ball and from the run.
Now you can establish the past tight end heavy as well.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
That was Marty. So do you agree with that philosophy
and if so, why and if not, why not when.

Speaker 7 (18:49):
You have this team like I agree with it, like Shottenheimer,
like you give him this. Not too many people are
gonna fail with this offense fail, but he's taking it.
Not just failing, I mean not just succeeding, but succeeding
at a higher rate. It looks effortless almost.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
What of their offense would you try and incorporate for
Detroit's offense, because, let's face it, I mean Detroit can't
do what they do with multiple tight tight ends.

Speaker 7 (19:17):
No, they can't do that, right, they can't do that
right now? They get themselves in second, They get themselves
in second and four. Yeah, like they give themselves the
second and four second and manageable second and mid. So
that don't say like the key to the game. And
what the Lions have done in the past not so
not so much this year. Sorry, I'm talking stupid fast.
What they haven't done this year is get themselves in
a situation till second. Now you have a lot of options,

(19:39):
like the Lions have put themselves. It's second and ten,
it's second and nine, it's second and fifteen. Like, you
don't have a ton of plays for these these down
and distances. Like when you get the second and four,
when you get the second and three, man, you could
open up the playbook and have some fun. Do you
want to take a shot because it's second and three,
which turns the third and three if you don't get it,
do you just want to you know, here's a quick run.

(20:01):
See if we get the first out, and there's a
lot of options that you have when it's second and four,
second and three. Man, it's third and second and ten,
long down in the distance. That's tough. Now you're playing
with more pressure. Now things have to be right now.
On second and ten. You know what they can do.
They can pen in theirs back. Yeah, they can pen
in their airs back. And you know so.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Detroit said just under thirty seven percent on third down conversions. Yeah,
Dallas in the meantime ranks fifth forty four percent on
third down conversions.

Speaker 7 (20:28):
It will be the last year forty six, forty six
Lions year forty five.

Speaker 8 (20:32):
The Lions embarrassed them last year.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
Yeah, you know what's coming down on their mind.

Speaker 7 (20:37):
Yes, I wanted to ask yes, yeah, yeah, like one
thousand percent. I was laughing. Sheps, like, they don't pay
attention to that. No, ship, we do. We do because
when I was the infamous game, talk about it when
when the Jets not the Jets, I played for the Jets.
When the Patriots buried US forty nine to three and

(20:57):
we got an opportunity to play them in the playoffs,
there was no conversation where it was like, hey, look man,
that game was that game and this is the new
game and we're gonna go out there and the person
else Nah. It was not coach speak. It was like,
you know, what they did does and they meant it
and they did it, and you said, and they kept
going and they didn't take the foot off the break,
they didn't take the put off the pedal. As you know, Rex,
the coach got selled a little bit. You said, man,

(21:19):
they broke your spine, they broke your soul, like that's
what they did, and they laugh at you at home.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
So a lot of that depends on I'm reading into
this now. A lot of that depends on if you're
embarrassing the other team. It's not just beating the other teams. Otherwise,
you know, it doesn't work for Detroit against green Bay.
Green Bay beat them in the first game. Oh my gosh,
Detroit's got revenge on Thanksgiving. No, if it's an embarrassing
moment like Detroit ran them out of the building a

(21:44):
year ago, might be a little bit different.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Well, Also to consider the source also.

Speaker 7 (21:50):
To Dallas and Detroit will always be connected at the hill,
Like it doesn't take much to start a fire talking
about Detroit in Dallas, because it goes back to ninety two,
it goes back to ninety three, goes back to all
of those things. So that rivalry, whether it hasn't been
a rivalry forever, was always still a rivalry in Detroit. Man,
they hated Dallas and we hated in the Smith. We
hated that offensive line the whole night. Now you move

(22:11):
into two years ago the reporting situation and didn't work
out for us, and then last year Detroit. Yeah, we
buried the Dallas cowboys in the Big d As. They
are lying to themselves about that. We buried him there,
So get out here with that. I got to a
fight with Michael Crabtree over that. What he won't call
Dallas the big D anymore because Dallas calls himself the D,

(22:34):
but they say the big D. Meanwhile, Detroit is the D,
the only D. Yeah, so we got into a whole
little little situation. Let go, he's a little ass wide out.
Many start with that. But to that point, I think
that there is going to be something coming out of
the Cowboys and what last year was, because then also
what were the rumblings the Lions have replaced the Cowboys, like,

(22:57):
now the Lions are back, the Dallas was at the bottom.
They heard all those rumblings, and now they're in the
situation where they can further push the Lions out of
the playoff contention while also bumping themselves up to who
knows what Dallas Cowboys they may messing around went that division?

Speaker 2 (23:11):
Well, I remember, yeah, they need some help from Philly,
but they went all the games up. Look, I remember
in the nineties doing radio and Lions pre and postgame,
and there were there were conversations, open conversations about these
are the next two regal teams in the NFL. The
Cowboys led by Troy Aikman and At Smith and Nate

(23:32):
Newton and those guys and the Lions, and it was
just gonna be one big battle. It almost felt like
it felt like the Pistons in the eighties with the
Bulls and Celtics. Yeah, you know, it really did. That's
that's how people were pitting it. And one team ascended.
They had hit rock bottom. If you recall Troy Aikman
his first year, it was horse craft won one game,

(23:56):
Jimmy Johnson stuff.

Speaker 7 (23:57):
And then we buried him in the playoffs the next year.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
And they from the ashes to win three super Bowls
while the Lions went the other way. It was it
was a fun ride at Cedar Point is what it
was all the way down.

Speaker 7 (24:14):
And that's why. That's what Jerry Jones and you know
he's a part of it too, And Jerry Jones floating
your locker room and he'll get anybody listening and he'll
make it listen and tell you. But I think that's
also a part of the sheep is they're embarrassed that
they submerged behind the Detroit Lions. Now we look at
it as you know, we got the right GM, we
got the right owner. You know, we drafted well, we
did our thing, We did the right way. They look
at it's like an embarrassment you. The Detroit Lions have

(24:37):
taken over our spot. You know, that's how Jerry's spinning it.
Where is this that and the third and blah blah
blah and this that, And you're gonna go out there
and get your spot back. So they'll be coming here.

Speaker 8 (24:45):
With his birthday last year, what's up?

Speaker 2 (24:49):
It was.

Speaker 7 (24:51):
In the building and everything.

Speaker 8 (24:53):
I remember that.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah, well, I hope he's in the building again, and
I hope Detroit does it to them again. We're gonna
try and prepare your for a win and or losh.

Don't get me wrong if I durny morning again, not again? Okay?

Speaker 2 (32:52):
The Ani Santa to Compode is going to talk with
the Milwaukee Focks about his future. Oh man, and there
are team right now. I mean Milwaukee's gonna host the
Pistons tonight. Milwaukee's nine up and thirteen down. They're six
and six at home. They've lost eight of ten. Obviously,
Antetekumpo is not happy with the direction of where Milwaukee

(33:13):
is headed. So, according to sources, specifically ESPN, the writing
is on the wall. It'll be an inevitable outcome there
unless there is a dramatic turn of events. That's a
quote from ESPN's Basketball Writing Division. All right, here's my question.
You know what it is. Should the Pistons be involved

(33:37):
in that? I doubt Milwaukee would trade him to a
team in the division, although I don't know, but the
rumors are that he's going to the next which is
in the Eastern Conference. So do you think they should
be involved in that?

Speaker 7 (33:52):
I want to cool an answer for will.

Speaker 8 (33:54):
You at least like you want him to not at
least knock on the door?

Speaker 2 (33:59):
I would say absolute. Yeah, I don't think there's any
question about it. He's arguably I don't think he is,
but he's arguably the best player in the world.

Speaker 7 (34:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:10):
No, one, It's exactly what you need. Am I wrong?

Speaker 7 (34:12):
He's a stretch for Yeah. I don't even care what
it will be.

Speaker 14 (34:15):
It's like if you have kid and a Yiannis and
you can keep doing, you can figure it out. You
can figure it out, man. That for me, if you
can get a honest yeah. And that's where I was saying, like,
I hope Tradesan's not gonna no matter what the likelihood is.
This is one when you're hoping Tradesans saying, hey, we're
serious about our window, especially where with where somebody sports
fans I know that were.

Speaker 7 (34:34):
That window work.

Speaker 14 (34:34):
But we saw each of these trade deadlines where our
teams had opportunities to maximize at least on expectations that
they were showing. But and I know that a lot
of people are gonna want to see the Detroit Pistons
go out there if there's something like this out there
and at least knock on the.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
Door one hundred percent one hundred percent. But Trajan Langdon
can't be the general manager. You can't manage the Pistons
because the Lions failed to do something in the Tigers field,
to do something that's not how you manage a team.
You just don't do it. Do it that way.

Speaker 7 (35:00):
And I think realistically, when you have examples around you,
I think you can draw from You can draw for
them on the good things, and you can draw from
them on the bad things. I think if I'm Trajan
Laney and I'm watching the Detroit Lions, I'm watching a
team that has set on their hands a couple of
times and missed out potentially on some players that could
help them in moments, whether it's this year or last year.
You get an opportunity to get a guy like Jannisi
to the Kupo, you got to go for it one
hundred percent because you mix Kay with Giannis and the

(35:23):
other thing about Giannis that I love. And we talked
about this a little bit more in the season first started.
Janis is gonna play in every game. He is trying
to go out and give you thirty five, fifteen and
eight every time he puts his jersey on. He is
not wasting your time. He is not wasting franchisees time.
He wants to w i in. You know what, who
wants to wi in? Just like that K Cunningham. You

(35:46):
put two outphas like that together that want to win
no matter the cost. Petty stuff aside. Don't care about
all the other Giannis like even though he's in the
public spotlight per se, he has to be. He's the
Greek freaking He's he's the best player. He's one of
the best players for the last eight nine years in
this league. He's in the spotlight. He's four in the
whole nine yards. Nice is about basketball, basketball and corny jokes.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
He's only thirty years old. It's kind of funny though
he actually does a really good job as a spokesperson.

Speaker 7 (36:13):
He does, but he cares about basket absolutely.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
He's old. He shoots more twos than anybody else in
the league. He makes more twos than anybody else in
the league, and makes more field goals than anybody else
in the league, while shooting sixty four percent and averaging,
as you said, almost thirty one points per game.

Speaker 7 (36:32):
Also, Jannis has never had and this is I don't know,
but I'm just watching this a novice spectator. I think
has ever had like a coach that he's ever connected with.
I don't think has ever had eight. They want a championship. Nonetheless,
if there never was a connectivity there, I think it
looks different when you had a coach that you can
connect to and an identity and a coach that you
connect to and vine with like that would help too.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
Yeah, I don't know what his relationship was with his coaches.

Speaker 7 (37:00):
Honest, anywhere, with any of his coach I've never seen pictures,
never seen anything. I've never seen conversations. I've never seen
laughs and joke when the media are doing things. Never
ever do I see him in bootonholes or him and
Doc Rivers or him and these other.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
Terry stat what makes us think he's gonna connect with J. B.
Bicker Staff.

Speaker 7 (37:14):
I know J B. Bigger Staff. I connected with J. B.
Bigger Staff, Like I like J B. Bigger Staff, like
the players, the players that played for him, like J B.
Bigger Staff, like that identity. That's not Kate kind of him.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Okay, I just don't think you win a championship if
you hate your coach.

Speaker 7 (37:27):
I'm just but I'm that's all. That's bullshit, Like you know,
you know what I mean, legitimate get around it, like
get around it because they're professional and they know how
to act in that moment. Like so that's that's bs.
You don't have to love your coach or I like
your coach. How many people didn't like Larry Brown, but
they want a championship. You don't have to like your coach.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
That's true. Well, if that's the case, it doesn't matter
if if he connects with J. B. Bicker Staff. And
to your point, Magic Johnson didn't like Paul west Head
and they want a championship. So that's a good point.

Speaker 7 (37:59):
You just asked me. I was just naming some of
the things that could bring him here and be cool
I don't ever think he's connected to a coat, and
I think this could be a connecting point for him.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
What would you have to give up to get him?

Speaker 7 (38:08):
Whatever it is, go for it? What does that look like?
Three ones? And how many players I.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
Personally draft picks for me, especially in the NBA, they're
I think they're really important in the NFL, in the
NBA unless they're top ten or so.

Speaker 7 (38:25):
OKC is about to be at the top of that
mountain for a very long time because of draft picks.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
That's right, some of them higher than others, though I
might add I'm just talking in general. Okay, So first,
if three first, especially if you're going to be finishing
what you expect to be in the right which is
nowhere here in the top five. But they're gonna want
something from the current roster. So let's just say, sake

(38:51):
of argument, I haven't done the off.

Speaker 7 (38:53):
Limits well, okay?

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Or who would you be willing to surrender plus the
draft picks? So let's say it's three ones, kool Aid, okay,
bas Harris gone, Jade and Ivy gone. And you need
one more probably everybody Thompson or they would want a
sar Thompson or Ron Holland, you can have you can

(39:18):
have them before. I don't think what do you think
they would want Isaiah Stewart, Please take him? No, I
don't think they please take him. So they would want.

Speaker 7 (39:28):
Please take Max Seal Junior, No, maxil Junior.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
That's three ones, Harris Ivy and at least one other player,
and it would have to be I would guess if
they're smart, and they're They're not always smart. I'm not
saying everybody smart. It's got to be either Ron Holland
or Asar Thompson. Right, kool A, do you agree with that?

Speaker 7 (39:52):
And now and now you have Jalen dor and Kay
Cunningham and Joanna's aunt and Coupo. Now now tray Lane
and go use that fine degree and that big brand
you or from Duke and go make it happen.

Speaker 14 (40:03):
I mean, the reason why I think you can make
that happen is you see the depth they've done right now.
Treasure Landon has shown down in his short time here
that he can go out there and find those intermediate pieces.

Speaker 8 (40:12):
That can fit with the team and create the depth.
That's what I like about trading.

Speaker 14 (40:15):
So if you had to cut this team just a
little bit, at least we know he's been able to
go out there and actually find some pieces that can
operate and work around K Cunningham and Kay, Durn and Yannis.
How many double teams is Kay? How many effective double
teams is ksee? And then how much more space is
Jet and Duran operating in?

Speaker 7 (40:33):
Then?

Speaker 14 (40:34):
And if Duncan Robinson's still here, you still got your sharpshooter.
I think that that is that is evantuation for a
treasure lane.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
So if I'm the walk at asking for sar Thompson,
if I'm Detroit of the two, this is don't mean
to be a pensive.

Speaker 7 (40:49):
It's fair.

Speaker 2 (40:50):
I'm offering Ron Holland here's my question. What makes us
think that they can play together? The assumption is always, well,
I mean, there are two superstars. They're gonna they're gonna
get together, and they're gonna be a lot of they're
gonna play because that's a lot of ball handling, right,
a lot of guys with the basketball in their hands.
That's all I'm asking.

Speaker 7 (41:11):
Yeah, But like once you see how easy it is
when he's playing with K, I think that's what happens.
And also too, I think they play on both ends
of the floor. Usually when you have individuals that play
both ends of the floor, like that's automatically as sign
of respect for one another, and you can start to
figure it out. Going back to Trajan Lane.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
That's a really good point. Five time old defensive players.

Speaker 7 (41:29):
And Kay, you see he wants to play on both
ends of the four he wants so I think that
will help out in that.

Speaker 2 (41:33):
Conversation where he's grown really a lot.

Speaker 7 (41:36):
And the other cool thing about Trajan Lanen is you
know this, like teams don't like necessarily dealing with certain
gms or certain people, certain entities like Trajan Lanen doesn't
admit that his energy is very calm or even kill.
He looks like a guy that can go in the room,
not be the smartest person room, that suck the air
out of the room, like somebody you can sit down
with and get on the same page with that goes
a long way, like how you are in terms of that.

(41:57):
In those means, I've seen a lot of deals not
get done because the GM was an a hole, or
the owner wanted to show him something or the personalized
the Eagles class. Trasan's even killed guy that's gonna work
well in a lot of those those meetings, in those conversations.

Speaker 5 (42:11):
Love that.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
I love that. That would be an incredible dynamic, wouldn't it.
As I mean, they're already I don't know the odds
okay right now, I don't know if we need to
look at the odds after what twenty two games, but
I would guess they're at least a top three pick
in the Eastern Conference right now because there's they can

(42:32):
sustain what they're doing because of the players they have.
Janniste Tekumpo might if he was added to this team,
he might take them to be the favorites for the
NBA Championship.

Speaker 7 (42:44):
The fill is also different too, Like right now we
feel good about the Detroit Pistons, But being honest, I'll
be honest for myself. I won't speak for everybody, but
being honest, I'm still are they gonna make it to
the East? Yeah? I believe so. Yeah, I'm hoping so.
And I see what I'm seeing at the beginning of
last season. I mean in the last season, I'm seeing
what I see right now on how they're starting the season.

(43:04):
But I'm still like, I'm hoping that they go to
the Eastern Conference finals. And then they have a shot
to go to the finals. When you add a player
of Gianni's magnitude to the team, I'm no longer hoping
that they get to the Eastern Conference finals. I'm now
expecting them to be in the finals. I'm not expecting
them to be in the finals. So now it's sorry, cool.

(43:24):
Everything that we're seeing and we're commentating on, or we're
analyzing is to get from here to the finals. What
needs to be done? What does this game mean? Et cetera,
et cetera. Right now, I hope they get to the
Eastern Conference Final. I think so. But I'm hoping you
get Jannis. Now I know you're going to the finals.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
Here's the other thing, or you're in the mix for
you keep him away from a team that has the
same aspirations and legitimate aspirations like a New York knicksas
you know, like.

Speaker 7 (43:50):
A lot like that. Was that Rams move man, like, look,
we want to get O'Dell Beckham because we don't want
Green Bay to get them. Yeah, we don't want to
insert this team to get them. And that's what the
Rams did. They bam Mill and Odell Beckham and said no, no, no, no, no,
We don't want them to go to one of these teams,
the Cowboys or the Green Bay and whoever was in
the running four years ago, and it actually in the
working for him.

Speaker 2 (44:10):
He remember what they keep away. Remember what everybody said
at the time, you're mortgaging everything right now, you better
make it payoff. Well, it paid off for them one
and two. They turned around two years later and look
at where they are.

Speaker 14 (44:24):
And we do have a super chat here ten dollars
super chat from IVR Underscore eight. He shout out for supporting.
He says, I disagree. You make that trade. You're trading
identity for a star that will leave for warm weather
or a big market. Never forget long gon Zalees or
if the Allen Iverson trade went in two thousand and one,

(44:45):
no o for ring.

Speaker 7 (44:48):
What about Allan ivers I guess I think that.

Speaker 14 (44:51):
There was some noise about an Alan and Iverson potential trade.
Like Joe that was one of the players that that
Joe Dumarsh was infatuated with. And before we actually trade
it for him, some years prior before the four Assembly,
there was a rumor that he was trying to trade.

Speaker 7 (45:06):
You know what, like look, I'm not gonna do that
with Pistons fans like I did with Lions fans for
the past four years. I won't. I won't do that
because what happens is you guys who aren't spending money
because it's not your money, You guys who aren't the
gms of the team. You always say, no, I don't
want to mortgage the future. I don't want to give
it away. I don't want to do this. And the
guy up and runs, all right, and the Detroit Lions

(45:26):
have done that for the last four years. I don't
want to mortgage the future for this player. I don't
want to mortgage the future for that player. You don't
have to, but just add some pieces. No, we want
to save the money we have. Let's do smart moves.
How's that working out for you? Like at the end
of the day, the game, the name of the game
is staying ahead. Like it's staying ahead right now. The
Detroit Pistons are ahead of the curve. They weren't supposed
to do what they did last year. They did it

(45:47):
and now they're operating and they're using that momentum to
catapult them into another space. Stay ahead with momentum.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
Great point. What makes the people in the chat think
that he's going to bolt for warmer weather. I don't
understand that he's He's got two more years left on
his deal. He's gonna make. He's making fifty four million
this year, Next year he's making fifty eight and a half,
and the following year he'll make coast to sixty three
million dollars. So I'm confused at what makes you think

(46:14):
he's going to jump and go to a warm weather
And why do we always think why don't we always
think that Kate Cunningham didn't. I mean, he signed a
long term deal.

Speaker 7 (46:24):
I got draft year. It's different.

Speaker 2 (46:26):
You think it's different, Well, if it's different, then Janni
Sante te Coumpo should want to stay in Milwaukee.

Speaker 7 (46:31):
Well, once again, he doesn't like his coach, he doesn't
like the organization, and like their time has come and
it's coming gone. Like the thing with the Milwaukee Bucks
hasn't looked the same since they won the title. Like
it just doesn't look engaging with any products. It looks
desperate to moves for you, I mean not honest, but uh,
Dame Lillard and how that kind of played out? You
held on to Chris Middleton too long, and some of
the players and some of the things you allow freaking uh,

(46:53):
what's his name? You allowed Drew from Uh, Drew Holliday. Yes,
you allowed Drew Holly to get out of the door.
And what does he do? He goes to another team,
wins another championship. They've been off the rails there for
a while, and I think mentally compounding for him.

Speaker 2 (47:06):
They brought in Miles Turner, which I thought was a
really good addition. He's playing a lot of minutes, he's
scoring twelve points, he's everyting twelve points, six rebounds in
one offensive rebounded game.

Speaker 7 (47:16):
Because they weren't asking Miles to go out there and
score like twenty and a half fifteen when he's Indiana.

Speaker 2 (47:21):
Yeah, role was different again, like you have always said,
I mean, you've got to know who your guy is
that you're targeting and how that guy's going to fit.
Gianni sante tecompo. So I would disagree with the person
in the chat. I think he fits into this team perfectly.
I think he's about commitment, Like you said, I think
he's committed to a defensive side. He's winning. I don't

(47:46):
think it matters how many shots he takes I think
he's taken this many shots and scoring this many points
because he has to take this many shots score that
many points to have his team actually competitive on a
nightly basis.

Speaker 7 (47:57):
Also too, if you've ever paid attention to on to
Gianni's talk about the league, to talk about the other superstars,
to talk about linking up, to talk about the whole
nine yard, he's not a fan of any of the superstars. Really,
he's not a fan of the link up and let
me sign this big three, let me go hang out
with these guys are doing commercials and maybe we can
do some stuff together. He doesn't care about any of that.
And you know who else doesn't care about any of that,

(48:19):
it's Kay Cunningham. Giannis isn't trying to go to in
Miami or LA or Houston or Team O with Kevin Durant,
who's forty years old. He's not interested in that. He's
interested in going to a space where he can still
have a shot to win titles and do it in
the space of it's about basketball. It's not about big
personalities and big egos and what you do in the
off season, all these things. That's Detroit, like, that's a

(48:41):
Detroit type. This is a nice fit for him. And
also so he's been in Milwaukee, so he's just this
terrible weapon. Like I'm telling you, like he care. He's
a person of interest that I followed, so when I
say I'm watching from this space. He doesn't like all
that flashy stuff. He doesn't like all the people like
James Harden. You know more about James Harden off the
court on the court, like, he's not interested in those

(49:02):
type of players. He's not interested in the Kawhi Leonards
that never want to play. He's not interested in that.
He's interested in individuals like minded like JB. Bickerstaff, who
can coach the game the right way, who teaches the
game the right way, who has his team operating as
a team, and also another superstar in K Cunningham. All
he cares about is trying to win for the Detroit.

Speaker 2 (49:22):
Pissons and holds people accountable that he.

Speaker 4 (49:25):
Will hold you.

Speaker 7 (49:25):
So I think that's what he's looking for.

Speaker 2 (49:27):
Okay, that would be fantastic and that would fit in
perfect with obviously.

Speaker 7 (49:32):
Well maybe that's what I want him to be looking at.

Speaker 2 (49:33):
Well, I hope he does. But how much control does
he have over where he Goes. I don't know whole
details of his contract. I just know I think it
was October twenty twenty three he signed a three year
contract extension. He had longer on that current deal, but
he signed the extension was a max deal one hundred
and eighty six million dollars. Okay, so he's tied up

(49:54):
for another two this year and two more years.

Speaker 7 (49:57):
So I will say it is if you come honest,
we know this is down the pipeline some time from now.
If you come, leave the NASAs As in Milwaukee. That's
his big brother. Leave him in Milwaukee. Don't bring him here,
don't bring him. He's a good person you can bring
You can bring him as your manager.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
Why would that be because that was the.

Speaker 7 (50:14):
Deal that he did in Milwaukee, that he had him
on the contract. Like Thanas Huntinson, Google has an NBA contract,
and I appreciate it because his brother shout out to
shout out the Jannis were doing it. He's horrible. I
think he got another brother in there too. But he's
actually a good player. He's better than Finasas. I mean,
he still made my NBA a little bit. First of

(50:36):
Fanasas is horrible. When they gave him an All Star nine.
All Star boat was like two years ago, and they
showed his highlights. He had bad G League highlights.

Speaker 2 (50:48):
It's Brownie James all over again.

Speaker 7 (50:50):
Like the NASAs wouldn't score ten, The NASAs wouldn't score
ten at Saint Cecilia. I'm just doing I'm just doing so.

Speaker 2 (50:56):
Cooler thumbs up her thumbs down on kicking the tires
and delivering what we just talked about.

Speaker 7 (51:02):
Absolutely thumbs up.

Speaker 2 (51:04):
Thumbs up, Brendan thumbs up or thumbs down. Would you
do that?

Speaker 7 (51:06):
Thumbs up?

Speaker 2 (51:07):
I would. I don't think it's even it should be
even a discussion.

Speaker 7 (51:09):
Especially after he just told me and all these reporters
that he was gonna break Lebron's Andames record for scoring
points to day. So he's got five years ahead. A
team score all those points, right lay.

Speaker 2 (51:19):
Here's my worry knowing that Detroit could be involved. I
don't know if they are, but it could be other teams.
That price goes up, How high of a price are
you willing to pay? That's what you gotta ask yourself.
You're gonna dive into it, and you're gonna dive into
both feet. You gotta make sure well that's jumping in,
not diving in. If you're jumping in with both feet,

(51:42):
how much more are you willing to sacrifice? Again, I
don't think the picks are a big deal. I think
it's about the young personnel on this team. They may
not want Tobias Harris's extending contract that's about to to
be over, you know, after this year, or but they
would want Ivy. You would think you would think they

(52:02):
would want a good, hard nosed all around player and
Ron Holland. But that's me looking at it half full.
I don't know about the expiring contract of Tobias Harrison
whether that's something that's you know, kind of interested to them.
So we'll see what happens with it. But that price
could go up a little bit.

Speaker 7 (52:21):
Yeah, luckily you got an owner that can pay it.
Maybe he's just hired eighty million out of coaching fire
them in years. So I mean that money is thereaking money.
Williams still five on it. Mine ain't doing nothing none.
Shout out to the loonies that will be.

Speaker 2 (52:36):
That that will be a very interesting story to follow.
You know, when we see where Jannatumpo comes from, people
will have all kinds of fun in print media trying
to spell his name on a regular basis.

Speaker 14 (52:47):
It's important because it can absolutely change and shake up
the complexity of the East. It goes from what we
think could be open to if the Knicks, If he
goes to the Knicks.

Speaker 2 (52:55):
Yeah, could I.

Speaker 14 (52:57):
See the entire NBA, the NBA, the entire NBA.

Speaker 2 (53:01):
That's what would New York have to give up for
We're getting a little deep in the weeds here. What
would New York have because I mean Anthony Towns, you
know what, I don't know if Milwaukee would want that
and more? Would would be one of the guys they
would want, right, I'm keeping you.

Speaker 7 (53:19):
Take take take Carl Anthony to take care Iman, God,
take take that guy.

Speaker 2 (53:25):
I don't know, man, I think he's a good player.

Speaker 4 (53:27):
I do.

Speaker 2 (53:27):
He's not as good as but you don't like Yeah,
I would sacrifice him for sure. You play defense, not
like Anto. No, I agree with him. Yeah, I mean
that would be That would be fascinating. The reason I
bring that up is because you're trying to balance what
could I give you compared to what they could give you.

Speaker 7 (53:49):
They have more to give Detroit.

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Does you think New York does the Nicks.

Speaker 7 (53:53):
In terms of big, big names, big pieces and things.
If you give up with Karl Anthony town Ana Michael
Bridges like that, those two right there sound a lot
better than anything Detroit could get.

Speaker 2 (54:02):
That's that's fair, especially to a fan base that may
not be looking at you know, every single team in
the NBA. Right, So what do they do? They immediately go, Okay,
MIKEL Bridges, good player, twenty nine years old. We get
a guy like that, You get a guy like Karl
Anthony Towns, and then there's got to be at least

(54:22):
one more player.

Speaker 8 (54:23):
If Pistons did it, though, man, they would in my opinion.

Speaker 7 (54:25):
Have you not happy here?

Speaker 4 (54:28):
Either?

Speaker 2 (54:30):
The best three man rotation better than Okay sees you
know what, Kay, Jannis and Jalen dar I like it.

Speaker 8 (54:37):
I believe that they would be on a collision course
for three.

Speaker 2 (54:40):
Players Williams and a big fellow Chet Home.

Speaker 8 (54:45):
Hey each team.

Speaker 7 (54:46):
Yeah, it would be dope. East would have MVP.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
Very similar to what Boston used to be when they
had Tatum and they had Holiday and they had Brown.

Speaker 7 (54:55):
Here's what you have to do, obviously, because you have
to put Shay versus Jannis, and then you would put
Kay versus Lou and then you put Jalen versus Check.
So obviously I'm taking I would take you. I'm just
a different guy. I would take Gianni's over Shay. But
Shay is playing at a ridiculous level. So let's just say,
let's say Shay, so Shay Jannie loses that one. Uh kay,

(55:16):
when's the next one? So that's one one, and now
who you're taking Jalen during the check? What check is
right now is check. What Jalen doing could be is
Jalen doing Yeah? So that's that's interesting.

Speaker 2 (55:29):
She's only the twenty two.

Speaker 7 (55:30):
Yeah, check four.

Speaker 2 (55:33):
I've been a huge fan of Feeling during since they
first got him, because I think.

Speaker 7 (55:37):
High school high they tapes like when you watch it,
you watch its high school, You're like, why did Why
wasn't it more? More? Noise is the word I look for.
I was, I'm like, this dude is ridiculous. He kind
of looked like Maris Star.

Speaker 14 (55:48):
That was the one thing that was the one thing
he stood out on the front line. I was like, man,
I will take him in the top five, and I'm
glad it worked out for the Pistols.

Speaker 7 (55:56):
Troy reb to shout out to the Wizards.

Speaker 2 (55:58):
Yeah you really. We all realize though, that Jalen Durham
was originally drafted by Charlotte overall. Yeah, yeah, yeah, because
I mean I think there's a little bit of a
misconception there. Oh the Pistons trade him? Did they trade him?
Did they draft him for the Pistons and then trade him, or.

Speaker 8 (56:17):
They knew that the Knicks were going to get the deal?

Speaker 14 (56:19):
And uh, the Pistons and Knicks have been talking for
about a year and a half and then they ultimately
consummated several different deals that also included Durham, which was
what Troy Weaver wanted ultimately.

Speaker 2 (56:29):
Right, but he had them draft Jalen Durham for him.
That's what That's what I thought a good move by
Troy Weaver, who you talked about yesterday. Okay, forget the
left handed point guard, super super, so good.

Speaker 7 (56:45):
It was the way you were describing it. Man, the
sue fit a little bit.

Speaker 2 (56:49):
He's so good, he's so good. He's back in the NBA.
Oh no, he's not all right when we come back, okay. Uh,
Les Stanford is ready to help you with a holiday press.

Speaker 7 (01:02:12):
Game is a mess man. I was just looking at
you know, not yea, but Zion Williamson's miss games versus
the games he's played in two hundred and seventy career
miss games. I mean, why I think he has two
undred and forty game but also to it's just where
the NBA is man, the younger colture like football and
all the other sports. They're kind of following in that

(01:02:32):
pattern with the younger players for SAE that are making
all this money and now it's a lot more laid back.
But I was listening to one of my friends, I
don't want to say his name. He was telling me
inside the locker rooms and what it's like. He said,
like legitimate, like they're always on the phone, they're posting
during games. There's no connectivity. Coaches can't talk to him,
can't read, especially the worst teams that you're on. The
teams aren't coach like JB. Bickerstaff and those coaches that

(01:02:54):
get it like it is just a bleep show. That's
why they don't have vets because vets can't tolerate it.
Vets don't mix well within that it's and they can
play when they want to, don't play when they want to.
Once the money got to a certain point, like the
NBA because of I don't want to get into political,
but the NBA, the players have all the power, for sure,
and they've given.

Speaker 2 (01:03:14):
Well, they have more power than any other athlete in
any other league.

Speaker 7 (01:03:19):
Very true with Lebron like once it was dawned on him,
and rightfully so the Airic parent and Carmelo and you
know d Wade and that new generation of players. They
took all the power and you got guys like Kawhi
Leonard that manipulated that power, continues to manipulate that power
and you get this product like that's why the foreign
players are so appreciated. That's why they're so appreciated by

(01:03:41):
the league as well as the teams because they come
over here to play the game. They come over to
pour into the game, play the game. And now when
the season's over, you know, I might go back to
Slovenia and turn up but during the on my goal.
But during the season, man, they want to play. Meanwhile,
the American born players like they TikTok, snapchat all the
other dumbs.

Speaker 2 (01:04:01):
How does a coach allow a player to use their
phone while on the bench.

Speaker 7 (01:04:07):
If I'm making sixty million and you making five and
you may not be here next year, you can't tell
me nothing. And that's just and that's the space these players.
And it starts in college. Hey, college coach can't tell
these players anything. High school coaches can't tell you.

Speaker 2 (01:04:19):
Well what used to happen. College coaches can't any longer.

Speaker 7 (01:04:22):
But they used to. Well we're talking about now.

Speaker 2 (01:04:25):
Yeah, I know what I'm saying, clear, Lloyd. I'm saying
even like seven years ago, they could. College players used
to tell me the coach is just to go between
for the league, to get to the league.

Speaker 9 (01:04:37):
Thank.

Speaker 7 (01:04:37):
Yeah, I gotta do what I gotta do. I gotta
pease him enough so that he won't take the ball
out of my hand. Right, He'll let me go out
there and drop these twenty two points, and I can
be a third overall pick. I can be a lottery pick, right,
as they say.

Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
But a coach who is a disciplinarian at the collegiate
level sure can't coach in the NBA because you ain't
sending certain players running the stairs because they didn't listen
to you during the drill.

Speaker 7 (01:05:01):
And then now they can go run those same stairs
up to the owner's office and say, hey, look, get
his ass out of here, and guess what's gonna have.

Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
That's so true.

Speaker 7 (01:05:07):
You're gone.

Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
That is so true. The thing that has always bothered me.
And this is so minuscule, but I think the league
got away from it. You've got guys. I think it
was Chrissy Anderson. Who's the dude with all the tattoosman, dude,
I mean he's he's missing a game and he is
literally dressed like a homeless person. I'm like, dude, can

(01:05:29):
make millions of dollars. Can you have a little pride
by wearing Okay, you don't want to wear a suit?
Can you look presentable?

Speaker 7 (01:05:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
And well don't don't tell me he doesn't have anything.
They'll they'll dress up for the espies, but they don't
dress up for work. To me, that makes no sense.
But I think it's the same thing with the coaches,
you know. I mean the coaches now wear track suits,
and it used to be where Chuck Daley and pat
Riley were trying to out do each other with suits.
It's just a perception thing. There are little things that

(01:06:00):
if you change just a little bit, it might sway
people in a different direction. That said, look at their numbers.
Their ratings are still good and the attendance are still
good if you're winning.

Speaker 7 (01:06:10):
The same thing happened in the NFL, excuse me, and
the NBA happened with the rest of the world as
it relates to that, Like the NBA was kind of
trendy in that direction. But when COVID happened, when everybody
got relaxed and everybody say, you know, I don't need
to wear the slacks, I don't need to wear suits,
I don't need to wear this. I can wear joggers
and quarters that like. When they did that, they embraced
it and it never changed and it never looked back.

(01:06:30):
Because when you're coming to games in COVID, man you
wearing a T shirt, jogging pants. You're doing the test
two three times and then slowly but surely when COVID's
over and you start going back to the arenas, I
figured out, you know what, it's more comfortable if I
just wear T shirts and jogging pants.

Speaker 2 (01:06:43):
A lot of NFL guys wear suits. NHL wear suits
all the time. Every single one of those guys get
off the bus, they are dressed in a suit.

Speaker 7 (01:06:50):
NFL.

Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
They when they get on the plane, they are dressed
in a suit.

Speaker 7 (01:06:53):
NFL will, at least the NFL will give you the
designer casual outfit. So like, if it's not a suit,
or if it's not a mock neck in the winter time,
they'll give you the for just throwing a brand out there.
They'll give you the Louis Baton outfit that's a super
casual outfit but has a level of okay, you know,
you put something on, you put some methan in for it,
you look decent. Like, at least if they'll do that,

(01:07:15):
NBA is like, shoot, I just woke up and I
got on boxes and the tank. What we got a game?

Speaker 9 (01:07:28):
Hey?

Speaker 14 (01:07:28):
You know everybody put that that that four two four
four speed on display there.

Speaker 7 (01:07:32):
Man, that was more like four to seven two.

Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
That one't bad concerning he So I had to deal
with a step right there. You know, I stepped down
from the stage side.

Speaker 7 (01:07:43):
No, you know this new trends going on where it
says I used to be a hell of a player.
I know you're not an r g A. I know
you're not. Just said that so on I g on
Snapchat and all these places and TikTok, they guy, I
used to be a hell of an athlete, And they
got older players doing whatever their move set was their position.
I played wide. I set my camera up in the
gym today to do it and went to went to

(01:08:06):
run around and like I shook somebody, then released and
caught it pass and slipped and fell on my back
and hit my head on the on the wake. Oh no,
I recorded it too. You know how fast I deleted that.
I deleted that so fast. I was like, this is
completely the opposite of what this little challenge was supposed
to be.

Speaker 8 (01:08:24):
Just feeling this in on all of this bloopers, Like bro.

Speaker 7 (01:08:27):
I'll tell you what I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
There's humility that keeps that Today's signing day. What was
sunning day like for you?

Speaker 7 (01:08:37):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (01:08:38):
Great question.

Speaker 7 (01:08:39):
It's a nice segue, you know, very quiet. It wasn't
really because this was the era before they were five
six hats and tricking you, Hey, I'm going here. No,
I'm not going here.

Speaker 2 (01:08:52):
Psych I lied to do at school.

Speaker 7 (01:08:53):
I did school, did in the library. I was going
to Michigan. Like once they offered, like I told all
the other schools. Yeah, look appreciated going to Michigan. You know,
it is what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
So was the worst response you got from a coach?
Do you remember.

Speaker 7 (01:09:08):
Vanderbilt wanted me bad? I can't remember what they say
anything negative to you. That's why I was I say
that when I told them I was going to Michigan
because I was, well, you have good parents. They're polite.
They said, you're gonna call everybody and thank them for you.
I was like, mom, but you're gonna call them and
thank them. So we called I think the recruiters that
recruited me, or I was able to talk to the coaches,
and I was talking to the Vanderbilt coach. He was like,

(01:09:30):
you just going to Michigan because your dad went there.
He said, be on man, He said, step out and
do something different. He said, you know what I thought
you were a different player. You don't want to play
with Jay Cutler. I was said, Jake Color, ain't even there.
You're selling me on somebody that's coming.

Speaker 2 (01:09:44):
Hey man, I didn't have to make this call you though, exactly.

Speaker 7 (01:09:46):
I was like, you know what, I got something for you.
I always prayed we played Vanderbilt just like a random
opening game or something. I was like, we said Vanda,
but I'm going for two thirty.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
I got something for you. I'm glad your parents did that.
When white someone's getting recruited for for college lacrosse. I
told him. Once he made his decision, I told him
he had to call all the other schools. One coach
actually said to them, where are you going? Oh you're
not going to play there and you're not gonna enjoy it.
And he's like, oh okay. They played them early in
the season, torched them for two and played on a

(01:10:17):
regular basis. Just gave him a fist pump going through
the line. Take it easy. So that's why I was
wondering about you.

Speaker 7 (01:10:22):
Robby Williams told me the same thing. Oh did he
You're not going to play? He told me the same
thing my sophomore year. We beat him forty nine. Williams
told you that because he won me at Michigan State
and he offered me in the summer. So he offered
me in June. I went up there for a camp.
I torched the DBS and he brought me, me and
my father into the office. Hey, you're coming here. We

(01:10:44):
were offering you right now, blah blah blah. And then
Michigan offered. They didn't offer until November, so there's this
waiting process. And finally when he offered, I called Bobby
Wood and he's like, man, you're not gonna play at Michigan.
I was like, I see you soon.

Speaker 2 (01:10:58):
So wait, man, so he thought you could play. See
that says something. He thought you could play a State,
but not a Michigan. I mean, you tells up on that. Yeah,
they tell up on that.

Speaker 7 (01:11:08):
Now. I get it.

Speaker 14 (01:11:09):
Earlier when I asked if players remember that stuff like
the lion's putting the boat, whooping on the cow.

Speaker 7 (01:11:13):
Yeah, now, I guess that was great detail.

Speaker 8 (01:11:15):
You remember every detail about that.

Speaker 7 (01:11:16):
That's great. I just signed. I signed the letter into
in the library. Uh one one guy came out from
Detroit News came out signed it. They took a picture.
They put it in. Uh put it in the news
and that was it. It was no fanfare, nothing like that.

Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
That's surprising. I think it's great, kids getting off.

Speaker 7 (01:11:34):
I made up for that.

Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
You're right, made up, made up for tenfold. All right,
stay with us when we come back, We'll get to
some super chats. Uh, some other thoughts. I know, I know,
I just looked at the clock. Hey blame Buddy seven,
and I'm thinking to myself. You know, I wanted to
ask you a few more football things about Dallas and
detripp But maybe what we can do is when we
come back, we can just sneak in a quick thought

(01:11:57):
on why you think they can win and why you
think they got no shot. We'll do that after this
from black rocking Lady James say, ooh.

Speaker 7 (01:12:04):

backdrops to do just that. Why because it's clean, it's

Let's go ahead, Cooley.

Speaker 14 (01:15:52):
Oh definitely, and the people were definitely sending in those
super chats.

Speaker 7 (01:15:56):
Again.

Speaker 14 (01:15:56):
Thank you to iv R, who sent in the biggest
one of the day to ten dollars one we talked
about earlier. Uh, but Le Bartney sent in a couple
of them, a couple of one nine. He says, Northwestern
Buddies is the best for him.

Speaker 8 (01:16:09):
It is a Northwestern one.

Speaker 2 (01:16:10):
And we're telling the stories.

Speaker 14 (01:16:11):
My mops did the same thing. Man, his fraternity brothers
and everything. He's five bet en sigma they used to be. Yeah, yeah,
that was the one man I remember said, I.

Speaker 2 (01:16:23):
Think that's Northwestern thirteen and fourteen.

Speaker 8 (01:16:25):
Yep, I believe it's what yeah, yeah, let me see here.
Le Bartney also says, just one nine super chat.

Speaker 7 (01:16:32):
Just shout out Brailn. I appreciate you time. Shout you
out too, man, thanks for listening to us on here
and Brendan over here. Quiet as ever. Hell, you know
what I'm saying, a little support right there, and then
kool aid that makes it happen on the day the
base man, we appreciate you.

Speaker 14 (01:16:48):
And then uh, you know what, Michael werried earlier in
the show was saying with the two dollars, super Chat,
Pistons talk, please trade, rumors are hot, and freight train
ja with a one nine. Super Chat also said give
you the Pistons game, and Chet he says, stop glazing Bray.

Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
Well, here's the thing at about the Pistons. Okay, so
we did we have to talk to a lot of
Pistons who are a lot of NBA. Somebody in our
chat Woodward group chat said it would take Asar Thompson,
Ron Holland, Isaiah Stewart, Jade and Ivy and four first
round picks. That's what they heard. Now, I love honest,
Giannis Antetokumpo. That's too much for me. Yeah, okay, everybody

(01:17:26):
has to have a price. So that's number one, Number
two playing Milwaukee. I mean, go ahead and break it
down if you want. I think Detroce should win this game.
I'm surprised they're favorite by only seven. I think this
should be no pun intended to slam dunk. I don't
think there's any question about that. They're they're the better
basketball team. But I suppose on any given night in
the NBA, especially look what happened with Atlanta the other night.

(01:17:48):
It took a one point win. But I like the
way Detroit plays in general. I like their defense especially.

Speaker 7 (01:17:54):
Yeah one ever said, look, I want you on it
is just like the next Detroit Pistons fan. But at
the end of the day, you have to put your
foot down somewhere. You can't legitimately have two players and
bears covered and no draft picks and no players on
that team. So at some point you got to put
your foot down. And I agree with shep on that one,
not so much. Anybody glazing over here.

Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
So somebody in our chat also said this, and I
assume glaze is a bad thing. I'm sorry. If I'm
glazing bray, I shouldn't be doing that.

Speaker 8 (01:18:19):
Some people say it when it's listen, man.

Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
We'll work on that.

Speaker 7 (01:18:24):
Basically, it's their version of kissing ass.

Speaker 2 (01:18:27):
Oh that's what it is. That's what you're kissing.

Speaker 7 (01:18:29):
It's like an overly complimentary kiss.

Speaker 4 (01:18:32):
Kick.

Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
That's offensive to me because I don't think I kiss
your ass at all, exactly. You've got piss you off sometimes,
all right, I know, I know the brailing look when
you be.

Speaker 8 (01:18:43):
Over here, like man, we got we got glass.

Speaker 7 (01:18:46):
I'm okay with that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
You know it's it's fine, I got I got no problem.
I'll keep it real.

Speaker 7 (01:18:53):
So say this is the y'all keep a real crew.

Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
That's no big deal. Somebody asked, they wondered if the
Lion's even gotten involved in the Jaden Phillips Jalen Phillips
trade from Miami when Jalen Phillips, of course went to Philadelphia.

Speaker 7 (01:19:08):
I asked Isaac Tesla about that. Oh, you can't get
involved when you don't have picks, right, you can't get
involved when you have.

Speaker 2 (01:19:17):
What I would remind them is Philadelphia gave up a
third rounder. Detroit doesn't have a third rounder. Would you
surrender a second rounder for Jalen Phillips, who can be
a free agent at the end of the year.

Speaker 7 (01:19:29):
Is the same deal on the table as it relates
to the third pick overall, I mean, not the third
pick over that was me the compensate, compensatory, compensatory pick,
so you get a second round back.

Speaker 2 (01:19:40):
Yeah, yeah, so you would do that.

Speaker 7 (01:19:41):
Jalen Phillips is only a one year option for the Eagles,
just like he would have been a one year option
here unless it just unless he did something crazy. And
now you're rethinking your inks you're only going to use
him for this year, which is a Super Bowl run,
and he can really help on that situation. Next year
you get your second round pick back, so I think
it's I would have done it.

Speaker 2 (01:19:59):
Yeah. And on top of that, he hasn't been great
with second round picks anyway. I don't want to be
too negative, guy, but it's true though.

Speaker 7 (01:20:10):
You got Laporter and Branch and that's it.

Speaker 2 (01:20:11):
Yeah. And Jaylen Phips was really good against Detroit, one
very good against Dallas, and one very good against Chicago.
Role in fact, he was plowed by that Chicago offensive
line and harder was plowed. Okay, Jordan Davis was plowed.
You talked about it the other day. That offensive line
is real. That Chicago offensive line bullied the Philadelphia defensive line.

(01:20:34):
It was surprising to me to watch give us a
reason on why you think Detroit can be competitive tomorrow night,
why they think why you think they can win.

Speaker 7 (01:20:43):
Detroya still has some of the best players in the NFL.
I mean you have to start there. You just look
at it as it relates to the Pro Bowl voting.
Right now, Detroy Lions have eleven players at the top
ten at their position, and we know two of those
guys aren't going to be with us for this game,
and as Amaran Saint Brown and Sam Laporta. However, they
still got some really good guys there, and you still
really do some really good things over the past couple
of years. You know what the issues are. There's a

(01:21:04):
lot of fixable things. Dropping passes is fixable. Twelve men
on the field is fixable. Not going forward on a
certain down and distances based on how the team is playing.
It's fixable. Using the best punter, at least I was
told once upon a time he is the best punter
in the NFL. Using your punter from time to time,
Jack Fox, these are fixable things. The energy is going
to be real. They don't have a choice. If their

(01:21:24):
back is not being against the wall, it's on the
other side of the wall. They're trying to get back
into the conversational. So realistically, I think they have the players,
they have the temperament, they have the experiments to experience
to do the things that they're supposed to do, and
they can help themselves in these games. You want Alkadem
Mohammad to be more of a forced You want him
to help out well you know what, you gotta stop
guys on first down. Now, you gotta stop guys on

(01:21:46):
first down, because when you allow teams to run on you.
Alkadem Mohammad he can't run. He's not a run excuse me.
He is not a run stopper. He does not do
well in the run game. Your other ends don't do
well in the run game. That's why you have an
Alee McNeil who you're moving out to be a defensive end.
Alea McNeil is a forced disruptor in the middle. That's
the conversation we had about him. That's what got him paid,

(01:22:08):
not doing things on the outside because you're desperate in
the defense. And so if you you know what to do,
and this team has enough good players and you have
enough minds in that building to where you can give
yourself a chance against his Dallas Cowboys nam and.

Speaker 2 (01:22:21):
We were sold that by the coaching staff. There's too
many times where we know they've cast that line, we've
grabbed onto it like a pike kind of minnow, and
they've just got us reeling right, And it was, Hey,
Aleen McNeil, let's just move into the outside. He'll do
a really good job with that, and we're like, yeah, okay,
I can see that. No, no, that's not the way

(01:22:43):
it goes. And I think that's the line that the
Lions brass is walking here. I'll just use it as
a generator. They're walking here, they're telling us things that
we want to believe, and then when they're not coming
to fruition, people are gonna start saying, sorry, we don't
believe that anymore.

Speaker 7 (01:22:59):
I mean, we're good.

Speaker 2 (01:23:00):
You say this all the time, don't you good? Late,
We're good, Okay, Marcus Stavenport's coming back, Josh Pascal is
coming back. Anybody's seen Josh Pascal.

Speaker 7 (01:23:07):
Also, stop telling us because anything I hate I hate.
When they get to the podium they talk about who's
coming back, and the people that they're talking about haven't
done anything as a detail liance. So it missed me
with that. So for the Lions, you these things are fixable.
These things are you can correct. And also you have
Jamiir Gibbs, like basically put what we talked about him,
he is the person that can hit a home run
at any time. It didn't show up last game, but

(01:23:28):
it doesn't mean it's not there. We know what he's
capable of the beneath it. They're definitely, definitely right.

Speaker 2 (01:23:36):
So that's the reason they can't. What's the reason they can't.

Speaker 7 (01:23:40):
That defense is bad, that that defense is back. Let
me add one more end too the can, just to
help out, and then I'll finish it up. Dak Prescott
is still a guy that's starting to be able to
move a little bit more. No, no, no, not that
that's a guy that is moving a little bit more.
He's getting a little bit more relaxed to this offensive
things and he's doing trust me, Like I'm seeing some

(01:24:01):
players where you're like, that should have been an interception,
that sat, that should have been this. But he's making
those plays. But they're there eight eight, hunching, put your
arms around number four like he wants to go down,
he wants to throw you a pick, Get him off
his square, Like, really, realistically, you gotta give him some
different looks, give him some different designs. Man, Like he

(01:24:23):
doesn't want to rush the balls, you don't have to worry
about him getting outside the pocket. But I think they
can do that on the outside giving you. It's that defense.
They haven't been good and legitimately they're like one play,
that's how I watch the Lions now, I'm just waiting.
All you need. It's gonna be one play and then
you're gonna see everybody on defense. They start to mistackles,
they start to not be able to cover and man

(01:24:43):
and man covers and start making mistakes like once that
big play happens.

Speaker 2 (01:24:46):
And it's third down and fourteen when it happens, for
crying out loud, and then there's some type of PI
or whatever. We're gonna talk more about that tomorrow, for sure.
Breakdown Lions, cowboys are gotta Breakley breakdown waiting for you.
Of course we're gonna do that, plus his picks as well.
That'll be tomorrow here on The Braillan Edward Show. Thanks
a lot for watching. We appreciate it. As always. The
heavyweights coming up at five o'clock. Happen to see you
