Speaker 4 (00:28):
But the main man, answer Wells is in here.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
And before we get started with the show, somebody had
a birthday this past Friday.
Speaker 4 (00:38):
Thought we forgot we did not? Ricky throw up the
backball to my man answer Wells. Answer here you go, brother, why.
Speaker 5 (00:51):
Appreciate?
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I will tell you like this. You do not meet
many people like answering. He is a great human being.
He is a friend. Once he brings you into the circle,
he's going to be their friend. I could tell you
stories up in stores one with Britz's mom. I'll never
ever forget that. I'll never forget that. So you deserve
that's a happy lated birthday. How was your birthday weekend?
Speaker 5 (01:09):
It was long on Thursday night on eight Mile, so
much more than that, And then finished the early morning
hours somewhere in the city. You know we do after
hours here. Did not make it downtown on Friday, sadly,
Oh what well? I got home at eight am.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Bro Hey, I'm not man, you deserve to.
Speaker 5 (01:32):
I'm still looking a little peaked. But you know, a
year younger, I love the Benjamin Button lifestyle and I
appreciate this.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
I think I only got one card from my mom,
so I appreciate that very very much.
Speaker 4 (01:44):
Money and I didn't come empty handed. And you're welcome,
by the way, time as well.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
You look like you seem like you've been just sad
or down a little bit lately. The energy necessarily hasn't
been been the best. So I got a little something
for you too.
Speaker 6 (01:57):
I love Oh come on, man, come on, let's see it.
Speaker 5 (02:04):
Turn it around the guy.
Speaker 4 (02:05):
Isn't that your favorite guy?
Speaker 7 (02:06):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (02:09):
That's fantastic, So, you know, fabulous.
Speaker 3 (02:13):
And that that that wasn't given to me, by the way,
that was that was that was something I wouldn't had
to make that happen.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
Man. But my fantasy baseball partner, we've been talking. There's
so many good shortstops in m l B right now,
and it's all because of that guy. Right, there's so
many shorts. There's no third baseman in the league right now.
They're all playing short. And it's because of Derek Gita, right.
Speaker 6 (02:36):
He's up there, him and a rod and no Mark,
no ma got back in the day, they kicked it
off again. They kicked off the era of the short stopping.
This is my guy. My dog's named after him, Gita.
Speaker 5 (02:49):
Enjoy that you named your dog Derek.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
Yeah, I know you take.
Speaker 5 (02:54):
I said, g Taylor bringing the love to start the weeks.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
The beautiful message man preaching you guys for too A
lot happened you welcome as what happened in the world
of sports this weekend. Gino wins twelve, the Reil Wings
go to and oh even the Detroit Tigers are now
above five hundred. And that's what we bought it last night.
Walk off for your boys. Spencer Torks. Who said this
guy wasn't gonna make it? Who said Spencer Tork wasn't
(03:22):
gonna be the answer?
Speaker 5 (03:23):
He was?
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Everybody did.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
That's the good thing about this story, mad Oh four
Spencer Torks. It seems like he's a little bit different
this year, playing with a lot more confidence.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
Early in the season. Yeah, man, it's great to see.
I mean, it's really great for the Tigers that this
guy put the work in. Obviously, he said he wasn't
gonna change much. He said, I'm old school, I'm gonna
do it my way. Hey, whatever way he worked, it works.
You can see that obviously when he's he's at the bat,
he's not straight up anymore. He's bending down. His knees
(03:53):
are bent, he's bent at the waist a little bit.
Whatever he's doing is working so far. And he walked
it off you yesterday to run double in the ninth.
They were down. They beat the White Sox. They sweep
them just the way you have to. You gotta sweep
bad teams. And they did that and they are above
five hundred. I'm looking for great things from this team.
(04:14):
Continue on play good baseball and get a real true
blue bat to add to that lineup by the.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
All Star break, and before we get to the ostart break. Man,
let's stick with what they're doing now. I couldn't agree more.
It goes throughout the four sports, like beat the teams
you're supposed to be. Lloyd Carr used to always tell me,
you beat the teams you're supposed to be answer, and
I come to you the beat the Chicago White Sox.
They get above five hundred. Talk about somebody playing a
little bit better. Hobby Bias yesterday three hits. You know,
the joke as Hobby Bayas it's been Hobby Bayas. It's
(04:45):
not becoming a joke anymore. It seems like he's figuring
out three hits for Hobby As. He's having a much
better start to the season all last.
Speaker 5 (04:51):
Year third base, Hobby Man.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
How about that base a.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
Lot of positions?
Speaker 3 (04:56):
He played three positions to stay by the way, I
forgot to say that shot up three positions he played
yesterday as well.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
This is the case of a team picking up a player.
When he came here, he was asked to kind of
be a savior of a team that was void of
any real playmakers. The team struggled and he struggled, and
then they kind of went down together. Listen, he's got
a lot of pride. This is a guy that's been
(05:22):
a very good player in this league for many years
in the past. And when you watch a Tiger's team
make the run they made last year and be no
part of it, it's got to affect you. In the offseason.
It's got to affect your pride. It's got to force
you to get back into the lab and figure out
a way to make an impact on this team. Because
we talked about it all summer, and I know a
(05:44):
lot of people here thought they were going to buy
him out. Nothing in Chris Elich's past would suggest that
was going to happen. So you bring a guy back
that's just this lightning rod, a polarizing figure that the
majority of Detroit has moved on from, has disregarded and
meant thrown away. He hadn't, he had not given into that,
(06:04):
and he spent this offseason getting right and halfs off too.
Hinch and the Tigers for giving this kid another chance.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Because the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
You see what the method is in Detroit now the
front office guy, Look, we're gonna pay our own, will
go through the draft and we'll take our time. Look,
you can't tell us anything, and that's what Scott Harris
and Chris Silli.
Speaker 4 (06:23):
You have done.
Speaker 3 (06:24):
Man, speaking of a player now, A lot of hope,
a lot of promise for this guy.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
It's a picture Jackson, Joe.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
He started off on them mile yesterday in the first
round first inning didn't necessarily go the best. What are
your thoughts on watching Jackson Joe yesterday Because everybody's excited
because he shows you those flashes, then he also shows
you flashes and other things.
Speaker 6 (06:42):
Hey, he's a kid, he is, and they're handling him
with kick CLOBs. They are taking it easy on him.
You're not going to see him go past four innings
many times. Look what they did with Casey Maiz back
in the day, and then Casey obviously had the injuries.
He gets to go today against the Yankees, So you're
seeing a lot more how to Tiger pitchers. They have
patients with these guys. Look you had your closer from
(07:04):
last year. He's down in the miners, Jason Foley, So
you know they have a lot of pitching up here.
They're gonna make a deal, guys. They might make a
couple of deals by the time this thing rolls around
at the All Star break. Kevin mcgonkall a guy that
Lynn Henning has told us about, guy that Dan Dickerson
has told us about. He actually hurt his ankle over
the weekend in Double A. We expect him to be
(07:26):
up here by the All Star break to fill a spot.
That's like trading for a player. It's one of your
own guys. One of the best hitters in the game.
Top ten on the farm, Tigers top three or are
they number one still with their farm? But yesterday with
Torkelsen the way he came back from his rookie year
thirty plus home runs last year obviously had disappointment, but
(07:49):
yesterday he walked it off and he got to hang
out with Danielle Le Bruce after the game. Check it out,
first question, Your teammates were all covered in whatever that
was out there.
Speaker 8 (08:00):
You look like you made it out. Okay, I made
out clean.
Speaker 9 (08:03):
That's that's a good sign.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Okay.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
This team has really shown this city how gritty they
can be.
Speaker 5 (08:09):
Starting back last year, always a chance to come back.
What was the atmosphere like in the dugout during those
late innings.
Speaker 4 (08:15):
We feel like we're never oning it.
Speaker 10 (08:20):
Time, all right?
Speaker 8 (08:22):
Well, not out of your cover, Yeah, I wore it
feels so good.
Speaker 9 (08:25):
But you know, we feel like we're always in the
game no matter what the story is, and as long
as you put together good at bats, you know, keep
the line moving. We think we got a chance.
Speaker 11 (08:35):
So we love this team, all right, walk us through
that final at bat that gave the team to win.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah, I mean the pressure is all on him.
Speaker 9 (08:42):
You know, he had to make good pitches. Andy had
unbelievable at that. The four guys in front of him had.
Speaker 12 (08:48):
Unbelievable at that.
Speaker 9 (08:49):
So, uh, just get a good pitch to hit and.
Speaker 5 (08:51):
Put a good swing on it.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
What are you think in there?
Speaker 13 (08:53):
You're watching your teammates go up and absolutely grind out
at bats, draw walks.
Speaker 11 (08:56):
What are you thinking in that moment?
Speaker 9 (08:58):
Oh, you just want to get up to the play
this past to fall, so you know they're dialed in.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
You want to You're wanna win this game for the team.
Speaker 10 (09:03):
Awesome, thanks to our congratulations.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
Yeah, that's awesome to see, you know, Spencer Torkals and
it just it shows a lot of times just gotta
be patient. I know, patient isn't something that we want
to practice, especially as a fan base, exactely as fanatics,
you don't want to practice patients. But he was drafted
number one overall for a reason. They saw something in him.
We saw that same thing when he had those thirty
home runs and it was so easy to forget that
last year. So good for him. To be able to
(09:26):
get back. But they're gonna play the Yankees. The Yankees
are up next. Man, they're moving the games back. You
were talking about that a little bit of time, or
as I say, they're playing the Yankees, talk about this
and then we'll get to you.
Speaker 5 (09:38):
Sure.
Speaker 6 (09:38):
Well, let's face it, the weather's not really cooperating this week.
It's April. You know what April brings. It brings showers
and it brings cold here in Detroit. I mean last
Thursday we were at sixty degrees. Friday we were at
fifty degrees. Today forty degrees. The rest of the week
thirty degrees in rain. So they moved the games from
(09:59):
the night and they're all day games. Today three o'clock game,
Casey Miz gets the ball for the Tigers. The next
two games will be won fifteen games, So all three
games against the Yankees. Tigers are gonna lose money on
these because you want, when the Yankees are in town,
they sell the place out. Let's face it, the place
ain't gonna be crowded during these three games, and that's
(10:22):
it sucks. I wish they would have saved the Yanks
for a little bit later in the season. This would
have been a good time to play the Royals or something.
But three games against the Yankees, try to beat them
two games, try to win two out of three. I
like Casey Mice tonight today.
Speaker 3 (10:37):
It definitely sucks that the weather's bad, and I feel
like I feel like they played the Yankees early in
the year every year.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
Last year a little bit. Last year was July. But
they're right, You're right, Yankees do come early.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
Yeah, no, the weather sucks. But these Yankees, you know,
talking about them before the season, You're the one said,
don't worry, my Yankees will be fine. They won't be
the Dodgers, but they'll be fine. I said, we'll figure
it out. Well, they're six and three and they have
three of the top ten home run headed. Talk about
your Yankees. Aaron d leading the way yet again. He
seems like a better version of himself when he hit
sixty two.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
He's doing great. Hey, you thought they would lose a
step without Juan Soto both Wan Soo is a great hitter.
Seven hundred and fifty million dollars. What they did is
they added depth to the team. They added pitching, They
added Cody Bellinger. Cody Bellinger back in the line up yesterday.
He'll be back on today. Aaron Jaws hasn't missed a beat.
Jass Chisholm's playing terrific baseball. They are gonna be fine.
(11:31):
The New York Yankees will be They're gonna win the
Al East. I know the Red Sox are playing good
right now. They got guys hitting over their heads. I
think they'll come down a little bit. You Ben Rice
from Dartmouth, Man, Big Ben Rice. Uh yeah, you're not kidding, man.
They got guys that they're plugging in. Who's that outfielder.
I'm trying to think of him. He's hitting, he's hitting
(11:52):
four hundred. Uh oh, it'll come to me anyway.
Speaker 5 (11:56):
This should be a good series.
Speaker 6 (11:59):
Grisham trankra Yeah, playing over his head right now, but
he's started in the outfield. The Yankees are gonna be fine.
I wish they gave a little of those players to
the Tigers, but you know what, we'll get there eventually.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
What would it do for you? I mean, excuse me
if I'm so excited thinking about the Pistons. Parents went
to the game this past Saturday in which they lost.
But what would it do if the Tigers taking two
of three.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
Oh my god. First of all, you're staying over five
hundred playing good baseball, and to beat the good teams
is great. Hey, you beat the White Sox. You gotta
beat the White Sox. This is a different team. This
is an AL champion from last year, you know, and
they represented themselves pretty well in the World Series. Got down.
Shouldn't have lost Game one. Dada, YadA, YadA, YadA. Here
they are beat beat the Yankees two out of three.
(12:43):
If you lose two out of three, it's nothing to
hang your head down from either.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Get you in on the conversation, Ricky, Man, what are
your thoughts in these times?
Speaker 14 (12:50):
Yeah, it's just having a good time.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
Man.
Speaker 7 (12:53):
Watching that game was so fun. I felt like how
mass was talking about the Pistons a couple months ago
before we all kind of keyed in where it was
just like, yo, they're just out there everyone.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Man making credit for that.
Speaker 3 (13:02):
Man, I was the first one talking about I'm not
worried about deny myself with.
Speaker 7 (13:07):
My bad but like Bradley was saying a couple of
months ago about the Pistons, this is the same for
the Ticking right now. Man, Every single game I watched
over this weekend. They were just having a good time.
Everybody was doing what they needed to do. Man, it
just feels so good to be playing because I was
nervous when Masks was talking about it was the worst
infield you ever saw.
Speaker 14 (13:23):
But I don't see it. I'm having a great time.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
You know. For me, we looked at this division last
year and everyone was playing above their hats. I mean,
the Guardians just had one of the most unstoppable offenses
in baseball. You know. Obviously Minnesota hit a wall towards
the end, but they were a great team. Kansas City
as well, and then we can figure it out. Forget
(13:47):
about the White Sox. Uh, the Twins aren't that good,
Kansas City is not that good, and Cleveland is starting
this season off as the team we thought they were
last year. What I'm looking at right now was a
team in the Tigers that went to LA and put
up a fight each game. Now I know they went
(14:07):
over two of ye absolutely, and this is against a
team whose payroll is like three times the size of ours.
It's fresh off of a World Series and they're playing
at home. So seeing them fight and then come back
and win two straight series, going five out of six.
I'll tell you what. This is a team that has
(14:28):
notoriously had a chance, but started off April and May
so slow that they were out of it, and even
late runs put them kind of on the map. And
then obviously last year the statistical anomenally to be able
to make it into the playoffs. The way this division
looks to me right now, and absolutely they sure the
only team above in the division right now, I don't
(14:50):
think we're going to see three teams playing playoff baseball
in this division. I think that this is truly the
Tigers division to walk away with, and the Guardians are
going to be the only team that I think that
we need to worry about. You get a post type
slipper like Torkosen, finally bring in the power. He's he's
got a thousand plus ops. I mean, the guy has
(15:14):
shortened his kwalk ratio, which is something that's always been
a problem. If he can continue on this pace, they
found that power back that they lacked last year. We
don't even need the guy that didn't want to come
here at third base.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Yeah. Two things about Torque Man.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
The thing one had a hell of a day yesterday.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
Yeah, we're talking about day I did he definitely did.
Uh yeah. Two things about torqu Yeah, I think one
for all the people out there, and you gave up
on the man you gave I've been here, a lot
of people on here, like everybody did everything.
Speaker 3 (15:42):
Don't make it seem like all of a sudden people
were talking to things about tor Where were you the
same place you were, same place you were.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
We all were in the same place as a way
to talk.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
We didn't think that he would be able to recap
what he did three years ago, two and a half
years ago, So everybody was in that same space. The
other thing, a lot of people are saying, oh, well,
it's early, we'll see what happens later in the year.
Speaker 4 (16:04):
Why are we worry about later in the year, right?
Do you know how hard it is for.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
A batter that does not happen anymore, whose confidence has
been fractured to somehow find it and find it at
the beginning of the year, when all the eyes are
directly on them, all the eyes were on Spencer talks.
He wasn't supposed to make the team due to injury.
He made the team. All the eyes are on him.
He was just out there because of in spite of
he's figured it out. So it's very tough for an
(16:28):
individual to figure it out when all the chips and
all the eyes are all you were down, So shout
out special Tarkans and figured out early in the year.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
It says a lot about who he is mental. So
I appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (16:38):
Yeah, I mean, just ask Cobby. I don't think anybody
thought that that guy was gonna come back.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
Was my hip.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
We knew we had a good team, but we also
knew that we had a couple guys that if they
could play their to their potential, we can lock this
division up. End of July August am I crazy. I
really think that this team is that much better than
the rest of the Central Division.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Speaking of hitters, Mads, one of the big hitters that
you were hoping found his way to Detroit. A nice
Vladimir Garreo junior size with the Toronto Blue Jays for
five hundred million.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
Fourteen years.
Speaker 6 (17:14):
They spread it around years. Third highest paid man in baseball,
third highest contract out there. Congrats to Vladdie.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
Hung in there.
Speaker 6 (17:22):
You're playing in Toronto, you know you play basically in
uh No one's really watching it in Toronto. It's unfortunate
This ain't the nineties with Joe Carter, but it is
what it is, and uh, he deserved his money. If
Solo got seven fifty, this kid is a young man
just like him. He got five hundred. That's a bargain
if you ask me.
Speaker 3 (17:41):
Yeah, definitely a bargain. That's seven fifty as wild. You
see all the Yankees fans, they're so excited that he's
not necessarily playing up to par right now?
Speaker 4 (17:50):
For seven hundred fift? What does book comes?
Speaker 6 (17:52):
Packing the pack in the stadium though?
Speaker 4 (17:54):
I mean he's he's a big time ball.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
Yeah, pack in the stadium.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Speaking of pack in the stadiums, last night they packed
the stadium for a great one. Well, actually say the
grade eight Alexander Ovechkin passes the great Wayne Redskins. It
took him one extra day and technically, mad I found
this out. He could have broken it on Saturday night,
(18:18):
but it was an empty net.
Speaker 5 (18:19):
He refused to go.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
He told gret Ski, can we can we appreciate the
greatness in that moment? I feel like basketball has run
football too, because you know, Tom Brady.
Speaker 4 (18:31):
And Peyton were fake friends for a very long time.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Football's got a little better, But in basketball, it's just
such like Michael Lebron then Kareem and Michael Kareem and Lebron.
Wayne has been nothing but I mean Wayne has been
nothing but class, and Alexander has nothing but a mental
slash class. So it was fun to just see, you know, like, hey,
make good job your shot. I've been been chasing you
this whole time, wanting you to see a break. It
(18:55):
was good to see that moment. I feel like basketball
is just always like is it him or him? I
don't want to if he's gonna do it's stupid.
Speaker 5 (19:01):
And for all the little brothers at home, alex Ovechkin
is the youngest sibling, little brother.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
This is true. Alexander Bechki, he did.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
Man, just talk about the greatest That is Alexander Lebenskan,
an individual that will not only scoring, he will beat
you up as well.
Speaker 6 (19:17):
That one he does n't back down. Man, he is
He'll beat you. But I don't understand how how these
hockey teams have let him just park himself to the
side of the net. I mean, he's scored eight hundred
and ninety five goals. He's probably scored eight hundred of
them from that parking spot. I don't five percent.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
Yeah, I don't say you're talking about his final left
right ago.
Speaker 6 (19:39):
I would think it was going in that maybe whatever,
But here it is last night. Check it out. You
could see it from his point of view. This is uh,
this is Alex Ovechkin and the capitals. And then we'll
hear from him right after this.
Speaker 14 (19:51):
Here here's.
Speaker 10 (20:22):
If you gonna taking it right now, and I won't
think it gonna take a shot, I'll watch it to you.
I want to tell you right away.
Speaker 15 (20:52):
I'd stress enough how incredible you are, how good you've
been for the city of Washington, for the national League,
for your country in Russia. It's truly amazing. I felt
like I scored the goal, honestly, I was so happy
for you. And you know I'm wearing this pin number
(21:13):
nine for Gordie Howell because to me he was my
idol and he was to me the greatest player ever lived.
But you surpassed him tonight, and good for you. Gratulations
for the whole organization. I told mister Leonis, when I
broke the record, they.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
Bought me a Rolls Royce.
Speaker 6 (21:30):
So I hope.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
I don't want to.
Speaker 14 (21:41):
Well, I don't want to.
Speaker 8 (21:43):
I don't want to.
Speaker 4 (21:43):
I don't want to like man.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Even in that sense, Wayne Gretsky was setting over up
for more success. He was setting up for free rolls.
That's just class personify. And it was great to see
because we know who the greatest hockey player of all time,
but his record for most goals ever got passed last
night and it was nothing beloved.
Speaker 6 (22:04):
It was awesome. Man, same amount of games too, the
exact same amount of games and Ov passes them by
one goal, which is amazing. We all know Wayne's assists.
He still is the man. He's the great one for
a reason. It's fantastic. You know what Ov did with
one team, twenty years with one team, one team. Take

Speaker 4 (26:28):
Welcome back. Second segment of the show.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Not a lot of Lions topics and things to talk
about right now. We're still about a week and have
two weeks outside from the draft, so nothing to talk about.
But there was a video that came out right before
the weekend dropped. They got a lot of people going
in Detroit. It was Aiden Hutchison running a little bit
down in ford Field.
Speaker 4 (26:57):
You can run it, run it back again. Yeah, r
that again.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Let's see big eight, big ninety seven. That's just a's
just a good sight to see moving. That's a good sight.
See we down, ray we up? Yeah, yeah, good good,
it's a good sight to see.
Speaker 15 (27:10):
Man.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
You want to see this. You know this injury happened
early October. I want to say this injury happen and
now here he is in.
Speaker 4 (27:17):
April running weaving. Weaving is the next step. First thing
is vertical, straight ahead, straight back. You don't want to
go anything lateral. Then it's the weaving.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
And once you get the weaving, then you start putting
your plant, putting your foot in the ground and going.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
So what does this do for you? Seeing ninety seven?
Speaker 3 (27:35):
Because the defensive line and what's ninety seven gonna be
What does that look like? Is he gonna be back?
And how does it make you feel seeing Big eight
out there?
Speaker 5 (27:42):
Well A, he has to be the anchor of that line.
He has to be the motor that drives that entire offense.
Hey man, what I saw from the video before that
it looked like Captain Ahab trying to run. I got
to say, it's a huge improvement. Uh, the last one,
(28:03):
the last one was a little scary, not gonna.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
Lie Hutch, but which one was that?
Speaker 5 (28:08):
It looked like he was running with just a straight planets.
But so the first one is massive, and it's got
to make you feel great. Again, this isn't an acl
this isn't an Achilles, but it is a major catastrophic injury.
And again, this is the motor that we need to
have back. This is the guy that allowed them to
(28:31):
not trade for Miles Garrison, allowed them to not make
the massive splash and free agency to go after a
you know, a double digit million dollar contract guy. So
they've got faith in him and he has to come
back to do it. But he also is a guy
that has experienced two major lower leg injuries in the
last few years. So I think, you know, as much.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
As does that move I'm gonna get you in it's
too mad. But does that bother you moving forward? Because
you're right, he had that at University of Michigan. The
year he had was really the only year that he had.
Does that bother you a young guy? But two major
injuries within the span of three four years, well.
Speaker 5 (29:09):
You know, I would say that it would bother me
if they had done what everybody here in Detroit wanted
to do, which was give him an extension. And I
pray to the Lord that this young man will stay
healthy all season and continue to be that motor for
many years going down the road. But if the unforeseen
(29:29):
happens yet again, this is a guy that you probably
have to trade in his final year, that you probably
have to move away from and not give the twenty
five to thirty plus million dollars that it's gonna take.
But this is a child of Michigan, a son of Detroit.
He's massively embraced here, and we know there's nobody in
the league that's gonna outwork this guy to come back
(29:51):
from a major injury. So what we're seeing the progression
of his health, I think it's right on course for
what we need to see from him to that motor
of the Detroit Lions this season.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
You better watch out trying to trade aid Man the
Priday Michigan. Then they'll jump after you. And the man's
not But Aiden Hudcherson, Look, you heard Doc talk about
it pretty much for about the last month. And so
he's set in that chair on Thursdays and Fridays, and
he said he appre he likes the progress.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
He's actually ahead of where he's supposed to be.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
And I gotta think based on the doctors, based on
them not making moves in that, I think they trust
where the pacers after eight and they trust where he's
gonna be coming in the next season.
Speaker 5 (30:29):
It scares the day like that, and it should.
Speaker 6 (30:31):
But look, if I just put myself in his body,
it's my leg and he's looking good here. But how
many guys are gonna go and chop them? How many
guys are gonna go after that leg? And I don't know,
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
Bones.
Speaker 6 (30:46):
Is the bones stronger now with the with the rod
in it and all of that kind of jazz?
Speaker 4 (30:50):
Or is it?
Speaker 5 (30:51):
Or is it?
Speaker 6 (30:52):
Or is it the chance for it to break again.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
There's probably always a chance. I'm not a doctor, so
don't quote me on that, but his it'll be a
was a stronger bone. He's young, he's still twenty four.
Speaker 5 (31:03):
So it gives me.
Speaker 6 (31:06):
Gives me the willies just thinking about with that break.
Because remember his leg. It looked like a rag doll.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
It did.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
It looked like a rag doll.
Speaker 5 (31:13):
It did?
Speaker 4 (31:13):
It was it was, it was. It was nasty, Joe,
it was nasty. But the good thing is April.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
You're talking about a season that is September, so you
still have even now, you still have a long time
to take your time with the injury. See what the
body looks like, see what the swelling looks like. Because
the best thing that doctors do is or trained, they're
gonna tell you trust the body.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
When the body swells up. When the body isn't right,
you shut it down.
Speaker 3 (31:35):
There's still a lot of time from April to September
to get big ninety seven ready on their left side.
Speaker 6 (31:40):
So time's on his side, no doubt about it.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Now, you tore your ACL to from.
Speaker 4 (31:45):
A cl and then I tore my maniscus.
Speaker 5 (31:48):
So specifically with the ACL injury, when you felt really healthy.
How much longer did your brain trust that? How much
longer did it take?
Speaker 3 (31:58):
That's funny because I so I tore I had Let's
just say when I had surgery. I had surgery in
January oh six. I was playing basketball and dunking and
like into May. Like my trainers were pissed when they
found out, but yeah, like you know you're young.
Speaker 4 (32:13):
Oh and he feels good. I jumped. It works, so
I went and dunk. But football was different, like I
didn't trust it.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
Being on maybe because that's where it happened, but planning
is different in football, Like, so they need didn't worry.
It took me, you know, it took me to September
to be good. So that's nine months. But then the
mental side of things, it wasn't probably to the season
was over with. It really probably wasn't until the off
season going into that following season that my mind trusted
(32:39):
my body and I was like, okay. Two thousand and six,
I came back and it was an okay season After
the ACL two thousand and seven is where I made
the pro ball Like it was a different mindset, but
that's ACL. That's an interior cruishit ligament versus the ball.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Look at that, I still know how to say that.
Speaker 5 (32:55):
But that whole season of six after you had come back,
a lot of things in the back of your head,
the whole all year took a whole full year of
being healthy.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Huh. I was a hot like I'm a high point receiver.
So like the term you got moss, you most him
at the high point, that's me. It took me a
while to be able to trust myself to go all
the way back up.
Speaker 5 (33:12):
I hated that high point when it was. I hated that.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
That's easy.
Speaker 5 (33:17):
You know what that'st player out of last twenty five
years impactful.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
You know what time it is.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
If you're a jersey collector, especially for the Detroit Lions,
you might be a little bit upset. It seems like
Detroit Lions are playing a little bit of a jersey guy.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
As I let you take it away, team sport.
Speaker 14 (33:38):
Over there on the high school of varsity disrespect pretty.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
Much right between the front office and the tickets and
then the players in.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
The jersey kid man fans, you're getting the raw deal, right.
Speaker 6 (33:49):
They ain't making any friends.
Speaker 5 (33:50):
And you knew it.
Speaker 6 (33:52):
You knew Jama eventually was going to one.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
About that when he got drafted, Mas you, me and
Ryan said he's gonna get one hed more we are.
Speaker 6 (33:59):
Here is and then zero for Jamiir Gibbs is the one.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
I don't get crazy.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
First of all, it's zero.
Speaker 6 (34:05):
I think it's a terrible number, especially for a running
back for football. Twenty six he hated. I didn't know it.
He put it out on Instagram. I hate I always
hated twenty.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
It's a bad number.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
I always you think twenty six is bad for.
Speaker 14 (34:19):
A running back.
Speaker 18 (34:20):
It's not for him to be as good as he
is and the type of back he is, twenty six
if he was sa Kwan Barkley, twenty six won't be
bad because Squan is a different type of running back,
like like Jamiir Gibbs gives individual number.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Like he's that type of run that's what he looks like.
To me, twenty six just it feels weird.
Speaker 5 (34:38):
See to me, I feels worse.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
I didn't say zero was the one, but twenty six, eh.
Speaker 5 (34:44):
I never liked. I never bought jerseys or really collected
them or even really wore them. But I kind of
love the old school number where he doesn't wear it anymore,
like for.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
You, it's running back wear twenty You get.
Speaker 5 (34:57):
One gold jersey? Is it eight or twenty four? Oh?
Speaker 4 (35:01):
Twenty four?
Speaker 1 (35:02):
Twenty four?
Speaker 5 (35:02):
Okay? See to me, I'd rather wear eight. I'd rather
have the eight. What about lebron Jobe six or twenty.
Speaker 4 (35:07):
Three twenty three?
Speaker 5 (35:09):
I'd rather have the six because he should never wear
twenty three.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
Okay, But for me, Kobe became Kobe when he wore
twenty four, Like eight was a bunch of other stuff.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
It was is shack? Is it Kobe?
Speaker 5 (35:20):
Is Rocky Mountain Kobe?
Speaker 4 (35:21):
He don't want to be on twenty four?
Speaker 5 (35:23):
Cobe was about Rick like that one. Huh, Rocky Mountain
Kobe got eight miles up.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
And you are on the board, was my friend. That
was good, very rarely delayed on the gym.
Speaker 5 (35:37):
That was I should have thrown a pause in there.
Speaker 4 (35:41):
Oh you're on fire today.
Speaker 6 (35:43):
Came back to the numbers for here zero, Jamier Gibbs, one,
Jamison Williams, four, d j Reed, Terry and Arnold took
number six.
Speaker 5 (35:53):
I don't mind that they took the What did he have?
Speaker 6 (35:55):
Zero?
Speaker 5 (35:56):
He was eight and zero? Right?
Speaker 6 (35:57):
They knew where the hell where the zero was? They
would throwing a flag. That's the only problem. So he's
number six.
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Now what it sounds like is all the Alabama Cats
got together, was like, let's wwitch this stuff up, and
Dj Reed happened to come at the right time.
Speaker 4 (36:09):
He's like, well, if y'all moved, I'm about to get four.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
Let's see, I guarantee all Alabama Cats playing the game gaming.
Speaker 4 (36:16):
And that was zero. I want my one bag, so shot,
what's up, Let's do.
Speaker 6 (36:23):
It andus Rake Straw took number nine, so he takes
Matthew Stafford and then Jamo's number. So Rake Straw gets nine.
We haven't seen him on the former Wolverine. You're about
to read, right, Yeah, Ronnie Bell, when did we get here?
I don't even remember that we even had Rodney be
He has number two.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
That's a that's a that's a solid, solid potential pickup.
Speaker 5 (36:44):
Tim sleeping down in when he was with San Francisco,
wasn't it.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
Yeah he's Pittsburgh and.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Yeah, buried behind some nice receivers.
Speaker 6 (36:53):
Hope you're right, Tim, I'm tripping, you know.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
I'm looking at that board and I see all those
numbers on the left there, and it reminds me of
six grade basketball team where we only had jerseys that
went one through fifteen.
Speaker 14 (37:08):
Right, it was about size, yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:10):
Yeah, yeah, right yeah, fifteen large. You know I'm taking
that extra small number.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
Four Paul on that. Can I make a comment though? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (37:19):
Why did Tim Patrick go from seventeen to twelve? What's twelve?
Is twice twelve better than seven?
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Number? From something? Number number? It's college number? Man? That
rain is even rain?
Speaker 14 (37:30):
Yeah, it's wind and rain.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Why did Roger Martin change his number?
Speaker 6 (37:35):
I don't know why.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
Did Roderick Martin change took he took.
Speaker 5 (37:38):
My guys changes Bojo Man. So you can get on
the field somehow.
Speaker 4 (37:42):
You need to get on that field and worry about
changing the number later.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
Well, if they look at him and they think of
somebody else because it was the number, get in their
number fourteen or whatever his number is. He gets some playtime.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
If I'm not playing up to my potential so far
in my league, I'm not worried about no number.
Speaker 6 (37:56):
Right, I'm third number Project Barton numbers.
Speaker 3 (38:02):
So I mean, I understand, I guess maybe took his number,
and look, there are times of charm.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
Maybe, But here's what I want to do. If I
just bought and I did. I bought my kids at
Jamiir Gibbs jersey. They loved Jamia Gibbs. So I bought
my my youngest a jersey. Just when the season was
almost over they learned the playoffs. I bought her a jersey.
What the hell, man, now she's wearing Now she's wearing
Maurice Norris's number. Morris Norris's number. I want my money back.
(38:32):
I want my money back.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
But some some franchise they switch to allow you to
bring it back to the stadium, that they should do that.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Well, we haven't heard it. Have you have this team
was giving the money back.
Speaker 3 (38:46):
No, But I feel like this is a good opportunity.
This is a good time to make something happen. Pete,
because with the ticket stuff that everybody still a pistol ball, Pete,
bring in on this one with the ticket stuff. Uh,
this would be an easy win for the Detroit Lions
and uh the four Family.
Speaker 11 (39:00):
Well, if they want to do the fans right, absolutely, man.
I mean, come on, dude, you got eighty dollars parking
around the stadium. You know the concessions, our prices are
through the roof. It's like, do your fans a solid
for having sakes And I don't know if you guys
saw and I don't mean to mince anything.
Speaker 14 (39:14):
If you don't, can.
Speaker 11 (39:15):
I kind of go back in future if you don't mind,
because the to stand the Lion's things. Going back to
Mas's point on the Tigers the bottom the bottom paragraph
there of the Tigers thing the fans who purchase tickets
through an authorized secondary market vendor. So I'm just saying
(39:36):
like they get like, like it seems like these teams
are trying to tell you how and where, where and
when you can like you know, spend your tickets and out.
It's like, I don't like all this control over the
tickets that I purchased in Mass made that point in
the past, don't you agree?
Speaker 14 (39:48):
I mean, if they her tickets, it.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Does seem like they keep switching up and giving you
something to chase and change. Now you got to find,
you know, like the structure.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
Right.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
If I want to do this, how do I not
get screwed? They make it so hard? The uniful still
up getting for the uniforms. Is it snowing, it's snowing,
it's knowing it was a rain snow here.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
We're like twenty minutes away from first hitch from America Park.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
What for this is how it looks when Mickey hit
the home rush? Is that three years ago?
Speaker 6 (40:16):
Four years, twenty minutes away from opening pitch? If you're
watching live.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
It is an ugly day.
Speaker 5 (40:22):
Are you trying to say they're not going to play?
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (40:25):
Get I guess they'll get it in eventually. They'll get
it in eventually. I was just canceled the whole three games.
Let them come back and all the time, but that
ain't gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
Do you want to play the Paces or the Knicks?
Speaker 5 (40:36):
You know what? You know my point? I love that question,
you know my point the Paces?
Speaker 6 (40:40):
No, I want the Knicks. I want the Knicks.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
Time as away, Yeah, tell me why you want to
play the New York Knicks?
Speaker 4 (40:47):
And Anson get to why you want to play?
Speaker 5 (40:49):
Because he was born there, Bray, No, he's in Jersey.
Speaker 4 (40:52):
Listen to me, all right, we go.
Speaker 6 (40:55):
I'm rooting for the Pistols. Look Pistols, say sir, I'm
already fit the Pistons.
Speaker 5 (41:01):
I know.
Speaker 6 (41:02):
I've been a Knicks fan and I complain they're not
gonna win a championship. I was eleven years old. Last
time they were eleven. I'm sixty three. Now, forget that.
The Knicks don't beat anybody. They don't beat anybody good,
and we're good. We're not fodder, we're not cannon fighter.
We're not going out one, two, three four in the
first round. They're gonna win at least a couple of
(41:24):
games and make the Knicks try to beat them. I'd
rather not play the Pacers yet. First of all, I
would love to play the Knicks because you'll be the
lead on Sports Center. Not that I watch Sports Center anymore,
but I do want the nation to recognize and they
are starting.
Speaker 4 (41:40):
To recognize me. Ask the chat who they were to play.
Speaker 6 (41:45):
If you're playing the Knicks, you're getting the first game, right,
You're getting the eight o'clock game, You're getting the you're
getting the ESPN and time to eight o'clock game. You're
not getting pushed to six thirty or whatever wherever that
first playoff game goes. I don't want to play Indiana.
Played Indiana enough, we do have a history with them,
but I'd rather play the Knicks. I just love to
see Kate Cunningham play at Madison Square Garden and show
(42:09):
what he's got and I think, I know, Bray, you
might different your opinion. I think they could beat the
Knicks in a series.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
Answer, and I come to you. A lot of people,
a lot of people don't want them to play the Pacers.
Speaker 5 (42:24):
Why do you, Well, you know I want to watch
that series. It's going to be a physical series, it's
going to be an emotional series. And if we didn't
already somewhat reignite the rivalry with the Pacers during the
regular season matchups, that will absolutely reignite this rivalry. But
(42:45):
to Mas's point, I don't think we're quite ready for
them yet. This is a topic that I'm gonna save
for about three weeks from now. But Miles Turner needs
to be the number one free agent target for these
Detroit Pistons. And I'll tell you what, I'd love to
play the Pacers with him wearing red, white and blue,
then blue and yellow. That being said, the matchup with
(43:08):
the Knicks. And I was here January first, I told
you this team would win forty four games, we would
be a sixth seed, and we would play the Knicks
in the three. It's looking like that's going to happen.
We've got four games left three of them are at home,
which is a blessing, but forty four to forty five
wins is really most likely just going to put us
(43:29):
in a situation where we play the Knicks, and as
I mentioned to you, I love that first and foremost.
You've got Jalen Brunson, a small guard that is one
of the best shooters and playmakers in the league. Who's
gonna be dat up by either Kid Cunningham or one
of the best perimeter defenders in Asar Thompson. Now, their
(43:50):
number two rebounder on the Knicks is Josh Hart. He's
six' four. If you put Kid Cunningham on him, I'm
gonna go out on a limb here and say he's
not gonna be averaging nine point four rebounds a game. Now,
the big X factor is the new guy at MSG,
and that is Carl Anthony Towns, a guy that is
(44:12):
a master during the regular season and a choke artist
in the playoffs. This guy is going to be a
matchup nightmare for the Pistons. However, you get to throw
a twenty one year old Jalen Duran, a madman in
beef stew and even a little bit of Paul Reid
and over a seven game series, which is what I
think it will take for either team to win this series.
(44:35):
Those three guys are gonna wear Cat down. This team
is deep. The Knicks are not. They have one of
the best five man started lineups in the NBA. But
Kaide loves MSG. I want the Pistons with a first
round up set and as much drama that I would
love to watch would take place in that Pacer series.
(44:58):
I called it January first. I'm stamping it because it's happening.
Pistons are playing the Knicks and they're upsetting up sleep
on it.
Speaker 4 (45:06):
This is where I'm at with it. If you play
the Pacers, I don't think.
Speaker 3 (45:11):
The Pistons have shown me that they're mentally strong enough
to go through a series of that, because they're gonna
get chippy. But the Pacers have the experience, they're gonna
draw the files. Beef Stewart's filing out, Ryan Hollinds is gone,
et cetera, and now you're under man shorthanded for games
three or four through So that bothers me on the
side with the Knicks, we know who the NBA wants
(45:32):
to be in the Eastern Conference Finals. We know they
want the research. It's the return of the Kings. So
now you go to the Mats screager and you gotta
deal with the refs and you gotta deal with that moment.
So for me, you're gonna have to deal with the refs.
Either way, give me the Knicks. With all that being said,
you're gonna have to deal with the refs and the
physicality and the lack of experience with the Pacers.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
I'll take the Knicks. I know what I said about
the Knicks.
Speaker 3 (45:53):
I know what I said about Kat and he's trying
to prove it, and jaylen Bruns is trustworthy and their
deeper team and Ojo Andanobe. But at some point you
gotta make a decision. In my decision, the Pistons and
by the way, kingson night, Nicks and then Bucks Bucks.
Speaker 5 (46:11):
Yeah, I like that take you know, the neck or
the Pacers. That's a big thing. And the Pacers, I
believe would be able to through physicality, be able to
ignite the Pistons emotions just one night might be Game
five right here in Detroit, which costs the Pistons a win.
(46:35):
And that's a series. Both of those teams, either series,
you cannot lose a game because you're too young to
keep your emotions out of it. And I think the
Pacers understand how to elicit that emotion out of the Pistons,
and I just don't think experience wise they're quite there
to deal with that. So to your point, I believe
(46:57):
that the pacersul be able to steal a game. But
I also think you have a great point in the
fact that the Zebras could steal a game for the Knicks.
I just think that the Pistons have a better chance
of getting into the Knick's head through physicality, which is
their calling card, than they do in getting in the
Pacers head by playing all right.
Speaker 3 (47:17):
Ricky four games left for the Detroit Pistons, all home
games the Kings tonight, you got the Knicks, excuse me,
four games, last one at the Bucks. Home and home Bucks, Bucks, Pistons.
Speaker 14 (47:28):
Will go Blinks, will go three and one.
Speaker 4 (47:36):
So you got them finishing forty six and thirty six.
There you go. Time one for you too.
Speaker 6 (47:40):
I got him beating the Kings. I got him beating
the Knicks on Thursday. I got him beating the Bucks
at home. And then they'll throw one on the road.
Speaker 4 (47:47):
Okay, Pete.
Speaker 1 (47:50):
Beating one two and two.
Speaker 14 (47:53):
Sorry, yeah, no, I'm sorry, dude.
Speaker 4 (47:55):
I'm just I like it though.
Speaker 11 (47:56):
I just I'm just trying to be realistic and not
trying to like. I'm just I mean, I'm I'm all
in on the Pistons, But realistically, I think two and
two coming up next.
Speaker 4 (48:04):
To fear it is very fair. I mean playing well, Yes,
that's kind like this Anson.
Speaker 5 (48:10):
Two and two. I hope Sacramento is in the midst
of a brawl to stay in the playoff game.
Speaker 10 (48:19):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (48:19):
If they win, they will clinch. That is a really
underrated team dematas Saboni's son.
Speaker 4 (48:25):
They're not home people forget Zach Levine is also there.
Speaker 5 (48:29):
And that team, that team is really desperate right now.
What I saw two nights ago out of k Cunningham
was Russ. He missed shots and he wouldn't miss that
game could have been one. I don't know if he's
shaken that rust off yet. I'm worried about the Sacramento game.
I think we split with Milwaukee. If they win three games,
(48:50):
they have to beat the Knicks. But I said at
the beginning of February I kind of relented off my
forty four I said it's a forty four or forty
five win team. I don't think that they go over
forty five wins. I would love to see them split
these two. But I think the most important thing that
you're gonna see JB coach towards is health.
Speaker 6 (49:10):
At this point, tonight, give.
Speaker 3 (49:13):
Me fourign though everybody wants to run from it. Everybody
wants to hope that I'm going for the foreigner. I
like my Detroit Pistons. My parents had a chance to
go to the game this past Saturday. I think they're hungry.
I think they're excited. Sacramento. Look at the weather. It
looks like they're on the road. They're in Detroit, They're
ways away from home. They're off their rhythm. Give me
Detroit the night, off the loss, and then the Knicks.
They want to make a statement. This is the team
(49:35):
they want. They want to make the statement that we
ain't duck in no smoke. So I beat the I
think they beat the Knicks on principals. I don't think
the Bucks have anything less except and the.
Speaker 5 (49:45):
Kings played last night too, so they're on a match back.
That definitely helps the Pistons a little bit.
Speaker 4 (49:50):
Tonight Wings two and Ozer trying to make it close
down the strets where was this?
Speaker 16 (49:55):
Like?
Speaker 4 (49:55):
Where is this at? And then it sucks because the
teams that they're right there with, guess what they go.
Speaker 3 (50:00):
To and Ozero on the weekend as well. But the
Wings did win against the Florida Panthers. Shout out to
the Wings time as well.
Speaker 6 (50:05):
I know, but they fell six points back, and Montreal
is the team that got to catch Guess who comes
here tomorrow, Montreal Canadian. That's a must win obviously in regulation.
Gotta get two points from them, and then you know what,
it's hope and pray time. I guess, because they're running
out of time. What have we got six games remaining?
What did I write down here?
Speaker 5 (50:26):
Yep?
Speaker 6 (50:27):
Six games to go six games, six points down. It's
Yeoman's work. They gotta go undefeated and then get a break.
Speaker 3 (50:34):
I was listening to Neil earlier. Shout out to Neil Rue,
Big D Energy and Sean Beligian.
Speaker 4 (50:39):
They were on there. They do a hell of a
job eleven.
Speaker 3 (50:41):
To one daily and he was talking about He's not mad,
he said, I'm not mad the players. I'm happy that
the players have finished strong. I don't want to miss
call him. But he's happy that they're still fighting. He's
happy that the players haven't tucked it in, knowing that
it's pretty much.
Speaker 4 (50:56):
Almost four going out, they're out of it.
Speaker 3 (50:58):
They're still fighting, he said, he's just management that they're
in a situation. And I didn't agree the players still fighting.
I've played on some bad teams playing from the Cleveland Browns,
and this is not a bad situation.
Speaker 4 (51:10):
But I'm saying I know what it means to compete
to the very end.
Speaker 3 (51:14):
So the fact that they're competing like this, I love it.
But management in that front offense, it's gonna be a
long off season.
Speaker 5 (51:19):
It feels like deja vu. I think we've gone through
this the last two seasons with the Red Wings, but
it's very reminiscent of what we had gone through with
the last three years with the Tigers. And the fact
that the Tigers were able to cap that runoff with
actually getting into the playoffs and then winning a series.
I think that's why they're five and four right now.
(51:40):
I think that beyond personal, of course, but I think
that's why they're starting this season off. Listen, they don't
go to the Dodgers. This team's probably seven and two
right now. So you look at what that momentum and
confidence did for the Tigers coming in this season. That
is that's the tonic that ails this Red Wing team.
(52:01):
If for some reason they could capitalize on that that crazy,
you know, not statistical anomaly and slide in, I think
it'll do wonders for them to start off next season.
The most likely scenario is that we're gonna have to
hear a whole lot more people debate the iSER plan
and whether they want to jump off board or stand.
I think this team looks a lot like the Tigers
(52:23):
do right now. They've got a great young minors system,
they've got players in place, they've got the coach. It
seems to be able to finally pull out of this
team what we need to see in order to get
to that next level. So even if they do miss
it just this much, I hope guys aren't calling Friisman's hut.
Speaker 3 (52:41):
So as let me say, are you to the point
where you want to you giving Tom mccleinan or excuse me,
coach mcclen half the season next year to see if
you're in or not. Are you gonna give him or
a full So.
Speaker 6 (52:50):
I think he's our guy. Okay, I think he's our
guy going forward. Listen, I think from what I understand,
Issaman tried to get a couple of players here from
last year and this year and came up short. I
know he wanted his guy from Tampa Bay to come here.
And his name is a big goal scorer from Tampa
Bay that went elsewhere in the free agency. The channel,
(53:13):
the channel check beyond this one. His name is out
of my head. I know he wanted him. They didn't
come up with the money, so he went elsewhere. They're
missing a couple guys, especially on defense, and then when
you lose guys, the injuries on top of all of that,
it just didn't bode well. Goaltending was up and down
this year. So it looks like six games to go
six points back. The odds are against them. They probably
(53:35):
have a five percent chance of making the playoffs. But
you start tomorrow. If you keep it alive, if you
beat Montreal, you keep us going. If you lose to Montreal,
it's done. Season's over. He'll be eight back and it's
Katie Bardadoor after that. Eiaman is not going to get
fired so I don't think I don't think we even
have to go and ask about that. He's your guy,
(53:57):
and let's us hope all these guys that he drafted
are gonna come are gonna come true and come up
here and make this team better because free agencies failed them.
Speaker 4 (54:08):
It's true at end of the day. Look, you have
to have patients, patients, patients patience that we hear. It
sucks to hear. Sometimes it works off, sometimes it pays off.
Speaker 6 (54:16):
Steve Stampkos, thank you, guys, hips, thank you.
Speaker 3 (54:20):
I just looked it up for you to have sixteen
years he played with the LA But we'll see, we'll
see how it plays off.
Speaker 4 (54:27):
There's enough in place in terms of the structure. I
feel that next year could be the year. Like I
was waiting for that coach situation.
Speaker 6 (54:36):
Eight years now eighton County.
Speaker 4 (54:38):
Is it eight or is it seven? I think it's eight.
I thought it was. It'll be eighty.
Speaker 5 (54:42):
Yeah, all four Detroit teams will be in the playoffs
next year, agree on that.
Speaker 3 (54:46):
You know what, that's a great sounding off board. We'll
take a quick commercial break. You see it in the
second half.

Speaker 5 (59:04):
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (59:05):
The Tigers finally have some organizational depth. Will be interesting
to see the roster moves once Labor Veerling Parker and
when sel are all healthy and on the field and
our friend burn He's like, uh, I wanted to redo
Ryan's question from last week here it is would you
rather guarantee one Super Bowl for the Lions and then
(59:27):
suck for decades, or be good for ten to fifteen
years with upside of the nineties Wings or downside of
the twenty ten Tigers. That's what he put. So guarantee
super Bowl. I'll ask you first answer. You gotta guaranteed
super Bowl here for the Lions. Then you're gonna suck?
Or do you want to be relevant like the Red
(59:47):
Wings were back in the day, and.
Speaker 5 (59:49):
They're gant we're guaranteed we don't win it? Are we
not guaranteed? You're in it? The twenty first century Stealers,
you're in a Steelers, bro I'll be the Steelers.
Speaker 6 (59:58):
So you want to just make the PA.
Speaker 5 (01:00:00):
You give me fifteen shots, they're gonna win one. But
obscurity hurts, and we've dealt with that the majority of
our lives. We love our Lions right now. We've had
so much fun for the last two three seasons, and
what do we have to show for it? No super Bowl?
But we're loving it. We're out in the streets, we're
setting draft records. I know everybody wants that super Bowl,
(01:00:24):
and I want it, But to me, I think that
my desires align with ownership, and that is let's be great.
Let's be a ten win team for the next every
season for the next fifteen years.
Speaker 3 (01:00:36):
So basically, would you rather be the Eagles of the
nineties and mid two thousands, because that's what the Eagles did.
The Eagles went to the playoffs every year and went
to the NFC Championship five times with Donovan me Now
was there, and they couldn't win.
Speaker 4 (01:00:46):
So it was a lot of fun. It was a
lot of but they didn't win. Is the question?
Speaker 6 (01:00:53):
Or you got a super Bowl?
Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Give me the super Bowl? How long can LA celebrate
their Super Bowl? How long can a ram celebrate the
Super Bowl?
Speaker 4 (01:01:02):
And they just won? Like, how long can he celebrate that?
Fourteen years? Well, twelve more?
Speaker 6 (01:01:07):
I don't care they won.
Speaker 5 (01:01:08):
I mean he's still celebrating. Name it. No, I'm not.
Yeah you are.
Speaker 6 (01:01:12):
That was back in the AFL days, still celebrating. Weren't
even an NFL team yet. Hey, guys, in my hot
hand here, we just got a package.
Speaker 5 (01:01:24):
Look at this, guys, is that Detroit? Look at this?
Speaker 6 (01:01:31):
This is from our good friend Phil on the chat.
He designed this guitar. Look at the back, guys, it's
a woodwork sport he burned in he.
Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
Took care of.
Speaker 5 (01:01:44):
I don't know what the hell he did it. Phil
could tell us look at that Ray take it up
there and start so Phil, thank you, my friend. This
is gonna be in the studio. He looks pretty natural
with that thing. I'm not gonna lie Bray looking pretty.
Speaker 14 (01:01:59):
Natural play wonder Wall.
Speaker 5 (01:02:05):
I was like, man, what's he got for?
Speaker 14 (01:02:08):
I knows on guitar.
Speaker 5 (01:02:11):
That's my brother.
Speaker 6 (01:02:12):
You gotta show that off man.
Speaker 4 (01:02:14):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (01:02:17):
Official kool Aid Blue.
Speaker 4 (01:02:19):
Right here, Phil, We definitely do appreciate speaking of blue.
Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
You know what, that's a great transition. Yesterday, Final four
has gone to the final two teams. We now know
who will be playing in the championship game to it
will be the Houston Cookies lad back Alvin Sampson and
Florida Gators. Before we get there, let's talk about the
games that got us to this point. Auburn loses to
(01:02:44):
Florida and the comeback. Both games come back by the
way Duke epic collapse chance of winning with like a
minute left, fifty six seconds. They were up nine and
it just didn't look bad.
Speaker 6 (01:02:59):
They lose.
Speaker 4 (01:02:59):
To excuse me, they lose a Houston who played tremendous defense.
It was a great mass It was great to watch
I pick Houston win it all. So I'm excited. Let's
start with Duke.
Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
A lot of people saying that Cooper flag the probably
consensus number on wrong pick, choked.
Speaker 4 (01:03:17):
Don't see it that way at all.
Speaker 3 (01:03:19):
I think his team let him that shot. Short shot,
short hit them all. That's also what happens when like
these all the pressure. He's the greatest duke player ever.
He's better than Christian latoners. He's a kid, he's a kid.
Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
Let him figure it out. You said he was better.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Later hit the best shot I've ever seen in my
life in college basketball. Laton is the best duke player ever.
Put all that pressure on him and shot on that shot,
but he played magnificent.
Speaker 4 (01:03:46):
Nothing to hang his hat on. Team let him down
to Houston. They came back.
Speaker 6 (01:03:50):
It was awesome. Saturday's games were they lived up to
the final two. On Saturday, four number ones played and
it looked like four number ones played. That first game
Florida game was phenomenal against Auburn. I like that Auburn team.
I'm sorry that they came up short. But the second
game was the game everyone was waiting on. They thought
Duke would run him out of the gym, and they
(01:04:11):
basically led the entire game. Houston comes back, Kelvin Sampson
calls those timeouts, he gets they steal the ball two
different times out of the inbounds pass. That's unbelievable coaching.
Kelvin Sampson gets his team to the Final four like
a champion, and I would not count that team out.
(01:04:33):
Tonight they played Florida. Florida is a very good team.
They were one of the favorites coming in. A lot
of guys on CBS and TNT. Oh, Florida's gonna win,
Florida's gonna win tonight. You got Todd Golden and going
Againstkelvin Sampson. My buddy's on Kelvin Sampson and the Houston
Cougars tonight. I'm not betting against that team, not the
way they finished games. They beat a hell of a team.
They beat a hell of a Duke team. Now, this
(01:04:54):
Duke team wasn't as easy to hate as old Duke
teams for some Yeah, I.
Speaker 4 (01:05:00):
Don't know what it was.
Speaker 6 (01:05:02):
And I know Cooper Flag he was not one hundred percent. Guys.
Remember he hurt his ankle towards the end of the season,
he's not playing at one hundred percent. So I don't
know he's number one coming out or does he stay
in one more season to try to win a championship.
Speaker 3 (01:05:17):
Look, his ankle is fine. He played tre minutes. He
just didn't get it done down the stretch. He comes
out like when you're number one player overall, you come out.
You don't waste time with the nil because the ni
on basketball is not what it is once you're in
the NBA. It's very different than the women's game. So
he's the number one player, but he leaves mass that
Houston team. I agree with you, it's gonna be a
(01:05:37):
great game Florida. I think they have the player of
the tournament if they win. And Walter Clayton Junior like Jesus,
like Cooper Flag was the best player in the tournament,
Walter Clayton Smith is the best player in the tournament
all in terms of his performance through the rounds. Like
every time they need a point, every time they need
a basketball, every time they need a momentum swift shift.
Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
He's there with Houston. People act like Houston just all
of a sudden started this year. They they act like
Kelvin Sampson hadn't built this thing out. Let me take
you through this.
Speaker 3 (01:06:09):
This season thirty five and four they lost once in
the conference, last year thirty two and five, the year
before that, thirty three and four, thirty two and six, twenty.
Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
Eight and four. Boy, like there are they are one
sixty three and twenty six is.
Speaker 2 (01:06:24):
What I heard.
Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
The Big twelve, the Big twelve by way of the.
Speaker 3 (01:06:28):
Acc So, uh, I'm excited to see what tonight. I
pick Houston. That defense is smothering, it's suffocating. It's very
reminiscent of Nolan Richardson at ninety four feet of Hell.
Speaker 4 (01:06:39):
Uh, I'm excited. I'm going Houston. We'll say you.
Speaker 6 (01:06:41):
Point and a half is the spread, Florida say pick up.
Speaker 5 (01:06:44):
I think you you nailed it with the defense. And
you got a guy in Walter Clayton Junior that he
can play, he can play, and he can shoot for
pretty much anywhere. But when you look at the type
of perimeter defense that the Cougars bring to the floor,
it reminds me of the reason why I think that
the Pistons can beat the Knicks because of that perimeter defense.
(01:07:06):
You know, going back to that Duke game. You can't
call out flag for what he did twenty seven, seven
and four with three blocks and two steals, maybe even
a bum ankle. But Adam Silver has already called him
and said, Twin Towers two point zero. It's happening into
San Antonio. There's one little short window and it's because
of a blood clot that he can be linked up
with Wembanyama. Put your money on that that's happening. As
(01:07:30):
Bray said, when you're guaranteed the number one pick, you
don't go back to school. That being said, this matchup
between Florida and Houston is a team we're all knowing
and comfortable with coming out as Florida team that was
beaten by my Spartans in two thousand, Mike Miller and
all that. But you look at this Houston team. Teddy
(01:07:55):
forgot about that name. I buried that everything that.
Speaker 4 (01:07:57):
Might be the most average here for like Missy mistake
he did.
Speaker 5 (01:08:03):
What and even Billy Downond he couldn't like him either.
Speaker 16 (01:08:05):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:08:06):
Yeah, like a criminal.
Speaker 5 (01:08:08):
You are not pat Riley's Sun sit down, but by the.
Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
Way he deserves it.
Speaker 5 (01:08:13):
I think Houston is one of those great stories. It's
kind of like where Gonzaga was, where all of a
sudden they had a couple of a couple of long
runs as a twelve seed, and then five six years
later they're a perennial four or five seed or better.
And now their program is officially on the map. Started
kind of with the Adam Morrison days and now this
(01:08:33):
is a team and a program that top blue chip
prospects consider and that's what Houston has done over the
last five years and now getting to this this stage
if they can finalize it, and when you're talking about
Houston is one of the top ten programs in the country.
This is a team, a program that come on guys
(01:08:53):
growing up, nobody talked about them outside of five slam
Agema and shout out. I came the dream. I can't
believe they didn't let you on the court, like absolutely ridiculous, bewildered,
(01:09:15):
they can't hear, absolutely bewildered.
Speaker 3 (01:09:18):
So absolutely so what happened was after they win, was
about to go on the floor to take a picture
with Kelvin Sampson, the players and some a hole who
just got a just got a walkie talkie and got
a promotion as floor security. Tody King the Dream Elijah
who went to the Final Four as a Houston Cougar
(01:09:40):
who also played for the Houston Rockets, and they didn't
let him on the court because some butthole got a
little bit of this happened.
Speaker 7 (01:09:49):
And they were yelling and they were yelling at him
to people were saying, that's the case.
Speaker 3 (01:09:55):
This just happened to me, and when I was with sticking,
it made it me the wrong way. I was so pissed,
like I didn't even go to the tunnel for a
very long time. It was Michigan Penn State. It was
when Lloyd was getting the tunnel when knocked it conducted
and I went and I didn't have passes. I never
used passes and never have. One guy stopped me at
(01:10:16):
the gates, and then another.
Speaker 4 (01:10:18):
Guy came over there and wouldn't let me in either
because everybody was kind of he was like, you can't.
I'm sorry, I know who you are, but you can't.
You can't what.
Speaker 3 (01:10:23):
I didn't want to force the issue because I'm not
that guy. I said, it is what it is, walked off.
Mike Phelps came up right behind me, and then Mike
felp goes and they let Mike felps thing because he
had to pass.
Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
Then I turned around and went back and I was
all right, now I gotta do something.
Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
But long story short, there always is that guy or
that woman or whoever that has that badge and they're.
Speaker 4 (01:10:43):
Like, no, to do it. To Kim.
Speaker 5 (01:10:47):
Hey Lloyd, he won't let me in.
Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
That's not that big draw attention now and now it's
a thing now people record like this whatever, like.
Speaker 5 (01:10:56):
An hourly employee, to completely disregard decades of earning something.
I mean, I'll say, man, I've been throwing parties for
over twenty years in this city and I have earned
my right to walk right into every club in the
state and when some dude who's out of his way,
(01:11:17):
and even though the door person's like, yeah, we know him,
he's a friend of the club, get in. But this
guy's doing his job too much. Doug called Doug Steve.
Speaker 14 (01:11:27):
He should have did like oh did back in the
day and choking what that's what?
Speaker 4 (01:11:31):
But that's why he can't go back to the message.
He sucks though.
Speaker 3 (01:11:34):
No one has to fix that relationship, Charles, because that's
that's absolutely you.
Speaker 11 (01:11:39):
Forgot the most important part about tonight.
Speaker 4 (01:11:40):
By the way, which kind of please be enlightening.
Speaker 11 (01:11:44):
What a way to go for win number eight hundred
for Calvin Sampson tonight he's at seven.
Speaker 4 (01:11:51):
I'm telling you Houston was to pick from jump. I
appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (01:11:55):
Speaking of wins, speaking of accomplishments, Gino all right and
the Yukon women win for the twelfth time.
Speaker 4 (01:12:03):
Under his reign.
Speaker 3 (01:12:04):
He's twelve and one in national championships, by the way,
the only losses with Page Beckers three years ago, who
wins her first national championship, She's the She would have
been the only player to not win the national championship
and be to off the final four all four years
she went to file four all four years, three time
All American Tour ACL second year in the tournament.
Speaker 4 (01:12:24):
Have a career like that, she'll be the consensus number
one pick overall. Hell of a career by her. Hell
of a job by Geno RM. I didn't realize Mass
it been nine years since they won one. You feel
like they win every year, But insert South Carolina and
Don Staley, insert stand Ford, inserted couple. It's been nine
years since insert Baylor. It's been nine years since they won.
Speaker 6 (01:12:44):
Man, they beat the champs too, and they beat they
pubbled them. Don Staley was not happy. She was not happy,
and Gino was waiting for her to come and shake
hands and hugg it out. And she waited a while
before she got there. But he's got he needs two
more fingers for all those rings. He's one of the
best coaches. I don't care if it's women's sports or not.
(01:13:05):
He is one of the best coaches to have a
coach a team.
Speaker 3 (01:13:09):
Well, tom as Away is very funny that you would
say that, because I prepared a little something with twelve titles.
Speaker 4 (01:13:16):
Geno Ariama is in rare put that up for me.
There is Gino Ariyama the best coach in North American history.
Here are some of the coaches. Bill Belichick eight championships.
Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
Including two with the New York Giants, but six if
just a head coach Phil Jackson eleven, John Wooden eleven,
Red hour Back eleven, coach k Mike Zsky five, Nick
Saban seven, and Gino Ariyama has the most up there.
Now with this list, is this a good list for
the greatest American coaches?
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
Who would you add? Who would you subtract?
Speaker 5 (01:13:51):
How wow?
Speaker 6 (01:13:53):
I don't think you can take any of them away.
Speaker 4 (01:13:56):
So just before the criteria for me, there's a lot
of great coaches with three, four and three. I looked
at the fours. I'm like, fine, Dean Smith four or five,
and he's got like three.
Speaker 5 (01:14:13):
And that was.
Speaker 4 (01:14:16):
Bears a six. Okay, Bear Bryant correct.
Speaker 3 (01:14:19):
I didn't put parcels and I didn't put I didn't
put Chuck nole on here, Chuck nole Man, Chuck Nolan
went outside the.
Speaker 4 (01:14:26):
Seventies though, And that was the other thing.
Speaker 3 (01:14:28):
All these coaches transcend over decades, one four different in
the same decade.
Speaker 5 (01:14:35):
I'm not big giving big love to geno Ari. I'm
up because I was waiting for it well, and not
to take anything away from him, but in comparison to
these other guys, these other guys had competition, Okay, well,
in com double A, women's basketball has been dominated by
two or three teams Tennessee and I've been alive right
(01:14:57):
Tennessee and Yukon and the USC and a couple other
filter in here and there. But when you're coming up
as a little girl playing basketball, you're going to two
teams in basketball, in men's basketball, football, anything, there's so
many teams that you could want to go to I mean,
I grew up wanting to play for the Hoosiers because
Isaiah did, and then I wanted to be a Wolverine,
(01:15:18):
and then I wanted to be a Spartan. And there's
so many different options for you women's basketball, you want
to be there. And I love John Wooden and he
really should be on that other tier. But I think
that Red Arabac is in a tier unto himself because
outside of the last two championships, that man won another
(01:15:39):
five coaching one role behind Casey Jones. And this guy
was the architect of the greatest franchise in sports history,
whether he was the actual head coach, whether it was
Bill Russell as a player coach, or whether he was
pulling the strings as GM Arabac. He bodies everything when
(01:16:02):
it comes to dominance in one sport. Ari Im honestly,
I was gonna ask you, guys, what's more annoying the
Yukon NCAA team with Gino or the Duke Blue Devils
with Mirsky.
Speaker 3 (01:16:15):
I've always not subscribed to people saying because you win
and there's no competition that you don't deserve like he.
Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
Built that over forty years, forty years.
Speaker 3 (01:16:23):
He built that Yukon wasn't that when he was there,
no doubt, just like Duke wasn't there with my Sizisky building,
no doubt about Duke wasn't the blue blood. So he
built this in stores and they've had some times where
they didn't win. I think his first championship came in
with ninety or so. So I think what he's done
is tremendous, and I think there has been some parody.
Speaker 4 (01:16:40):
You gotta beat us now, you gotta beat us.
Speaker 6 (01:16:43):
If you take American out of there, then Scotti Bowman three,
He's won nine Stanley Cups and he won a couple
with Pittsburgh.
Speaker 5 (01:16:51):
You want he should there?
Speaker 6 (01:16:53):
He won three North America.
Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
It is North America realistic.
Speaker 6 (01:16:57):
Well, then Scotty Bowman is top three. It is top three.
Thanks to rich Bulbwan for reminding me that Scotty and
of course looked it up nine Stanley Coms.
Speaker 5 (01:17:05):
I mean, come on, man, what Bill Belichick has done
in the modern NFL Super Bowl era, in a league
that is not for long. Teams go from nothing to
something right back to nothing. The fact that that man
won eight championships in the twenty first century with a
team that was a joke for the majority of the
(01:17:25):
first half of my life. Him and Wooden and Abaca
are on another level for me. About to put Phil
up there, but when you get Kobe, Shack and Jordan.
Speaker 4 (01:17:36):
Okay, But you can say the same for everybody up here.
Speaker 3 (01:17:38):
Bill Belichick had Tom Brady, John Wooden had Cream Dude,
you were, and Bill Walker, red our Back had Bill
Russell Casey.
Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
Red our Back was the only play only.
Speaker 5 (01:17:48):
Coach Phil Jackson draft Jordan, did he draft Kobe? He
will built those teams. That's just a difference in my
This doesn't.
Speaker 3 (01:17:56):
Say the greatest people that built organizations in Francis. It
simply says coaches don't change the conversations to me.
Speaker 5 (01:18:03):
The coaches as coaches, sure, but the coaches don't just
work for sixty minutes on the field to the draft room.
They handle free agency, They keep players happy, they jettison
players that aren't happy. What Bill Belichick did in drafting
and developing Tom Brady, in maintaining it for two decades,
(01:18:25):
what Wooden did in putting constant player after player in
and winning it over and over and then Red aurobox
pure dominant. Phil Jackson's's end master. I don't want to
take anything away from him, but very much like Larry Brown,
he was brought in after the team was structured.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
Can I add honorable mention he was bought in, but
like he's bought in and one chips, he figured it
out and won championships.
Speaker 5 (01:18:49):
Give me two tiers. Then separate these into a tier,
a top tier that are like here and then the
next tier.
Speaker 4 (01:18:57):
At what point do championship numbers matter?
Speaker 5 (01:19:00):
Well, this is why they're here. But to me, like
you look at at Saban and what he did versus Gino,
I think they're very, very different. I think yeah, because
the SEC that's where all the premier players want to go,
and for the longest time that was the premier university
now Mike Krzewski, So he's got some of the greatest
competition for players.
Speaker 4 (01:19:21):
So if you have money, if you have money and
a good name, it's easy to win.
Speaker 3 (01:19:24):
That's what you're telling me. So Nick Saban had money
at I'm not saying it, but it's credit. He woned
LSU last time.
Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
I Jack, you're right.
Speaker 5 (01:19:32):
About that, Hey he is? Pat Riley, Yeah, you can't
leave him off there.
Speaker 6 (01:19:38):
Pat Riley, Larry Brown another one. Yeah, but Larry's only
got one two or one.
Speaker 4 (01:19:44):
I mean he's got three.
Speaker 5 (01:19:46):
Larry Brown's got three because Riley's got one four with
the Lake Show and then two with the Heat.
Speaker 6 (01:19:53):
Riley goes on that list.
Speaker 3 (01:19:55):
But by your marriage, Riley didn't draft Kareem Abdu nor
did he drive Maddie Johnson.
Speaker 5 (01:20:00):
No, he took that team over from uh.
Speaker 4 (01:20:03):
By that conversation, what were you about to say?
Speaker 11 (01:20:05):
Well, I got like one old school man. But there's
it's just an old school name. Because he's only the
most winning manager of all time in Major League Baseball
with five World Series and that's Connie Mack. I know
it's from the nineteen ten, nineteen thirties, but Connie Mack
has five World Series championships. Jimmy Fox was one of
the greatest sluggers of all time. Just throwing him up there.
(01:20:26):
Five World Championships and most wins ever.
Speaker 5 (01:20:29):
Can I just say, can we just say spark And
that's right there?
Speaker 6 (01:20:34):
You go a l and like And because he was
nice to you, what he No, he smacked me on.
Speaker 5 (01:20:40):
The back of my neck because I said something funny.
And I've never been so honored to be smacked by
another man, Pops.
Speaker 14 (01:20:47):
Probably stay there, but this was it was interesting.
Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
I saw with him winning twelve championships, it would be fun.
Speaker 6 (01:20:53):
To Yeah, that's awesome, great, great, right, We definitely we
definitely got to put Scotty on there. We definitely got
to put pat Riley on there. And Bear and the
Bear Joe.
Speaker 4 (01:21:03):
Paternal all right, you know what, I'm glad you said,
Joe State Shower Club.
Speaker 3 (01:21:07):
Speaking of football, take us around the NFL, because somebody
who's I thought was going to Canada got a job the.
Speaker 1 (01:21:15):
Uf I mish who's injured? What up to? It's time
for around the NFL and their money and edwards with.
Speaker 6 (01:21:26):
Mass that Braylan's talking about so glowingly, it's Trey Lance.
Trey Lance got himself six million, six and a half
million almost to sign on with a lot the fighting
hardballs of l A. The Chargers people back up justin
Herbert or at least uh try to get on the
practice squad.
Speaker 5 (01:21:45):
Six and a half million dollars, man, this is what.
Speaker 4 (01:21:48):
I like about this.
Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
So six and a half probably because he hasn't made
the team yet, that's really only like like one point
five and some missimmons behind it.
Speaker 4 (01:21:55):
I like this for him.
Speaker 3 (01:21:56):
I don't know if it's gonna work out, but I
hope so gives him a chance to sit behind Joe
to Herbert, who's a really good quarterback in this league. Also,
you know how Jim Rbaugh coaches, You know how his
teams are, their structure, their support. I think that's what
he needs. I feel like he was blowing like a
tumbleweed just around everywhere. You got him there with harble.
I think this could be good for him. Just kill
him ground a little bit, figure some things out.
Speaker 4 (01:22:17):
Yeah what else?
Speaker 16 (01:22:18):
Man?
Speaker 6 (01:22:19):
I mean that kid, Like the kid had the weight
of the world on his shoulders when they moved up
to get him.
Speaker 4 (01:22:24):
It was idiotic, Yeah, idiot.
Speaker 6 (01:22:26):
San Francisco lucked out that they drafted him, won, but
then drafted a guy named Bryce rock Party at the end,
so they got locked without rock Party. How bad off
would the forty nine ers have been in that run?
Speaker 3 (01:22:41):
You know the thing that sucks about this is what
people don't talk about this side of it. Like Trey
Lance was, he's a twenty year old when he got
drafted twenty twenty one. He didn't tell them to move up, man,
He didn't think it come with the weight of the
expectations for the franchise.
Speaker 4 (01:22:54):
When it doesn't work and you're that young, and you
hear all the people, especially Nowady's social media. He's the bus.
He's just he's not that he's not worth this. He's
blah blah blah.
Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
You hear me say, oh, he's be in ufl that way.
He's on your mental if it doesn't work. It takes
players like that a long time. I had a chance
to meet Ryan Leaf and uh took him some time
to be able to get back to this paper in jail.
Did time at jail, not the big house, but but
you see where he's at now. You say he has
the podcast he's speaking of. He was born in the game,
(01:23:24):
but you see what he had to go through. So
sometimes I'll be so many people.
Speaker 5 (01:23:27):
You know, you know what this reminds me a lot
of Malik Willis going to the backers last year and
everybody thought it was no big deal. Malik Willis came
in I believe it was two and on. He had
a one twenty four point eight rating, no interceptions. I
love this for a hardball move. This is a guy
that is going to focus on the run and if
(01:23:49):
something happens to Herbert. You get a guy that can
come in there and you just angle it more towards
that running game. You don't have to put it in
the air a bunch, just like you saw with Malik
Willis right next to Josh Jacobs. It got a solid
running game. I think that they're going to dip back
into that in this draft. This is just a legendary
running back draft. So I love it. I think it's
(01:24:10):
a real cheap move to kind of, you know, give
yourself some insurance with a guy that might really fit
well into a hardball offensive line running systems.
Speaker 4 (01:24:21):
I got some Malik Willis stats.
Speaker 5 (01:24:22):
Were you ready drop him?
Speaker 3 (01:24:23):
He was forty out of fifty four last year, seventy
four percent, three touchdowns, no picks, Just some random.
Speaker 4 (01:24:30):
Information that I possess you.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
No, that's.
Speaker 4 (01:24:33):
Just a little bit though. But yeah, you're absolutely right.
You get a chance to get an opportunity.
Speaker 3 (01:24:36):
It's structured. Green Bay is a well run organization. For
whatever you want to say about Matt la Flores, he's
a good enough head coach. That's a great organization. It
does things when you get around. Trust I was in Cleveland,
not the same as when I got to the Jets
and then not the same as when I got to Seattle.
Speaker 4 (01:24:52):
Structure looked a little different, had more fun, had more success.
Speaker 6 (01:24:55):
And you got yourself a little Malik Willis card today?
Or is that a Jordan Love card.
Speaker 5 (01:24:58):
That you brought into I'm selling the Jordan Love card. Yeah.
Speaker 16 (01:25:02):
No.
Speaker 5 (01:25:02):
It's funny though, because a lot a year ago, everybody
was just giving away the nicest Malik Willis cards, which
I got a bunch of randomly. And uh, now he
actually has some value. You know, packers up, love the packers,
but uh, Malik Willis, man, if he can make it back,
there's no reason trayling.
Speaker 3 (01:25:20):
Does any does anybody's name that is not a starting
player in this NFL get mentioned more in this city?
Because I've heard other other people talk about Mali. Does
any player that doesn't play you mentioned more than Milik Willis?
Speaker 6 (01:25:33):
No, because they bust Mine and Ryan Chops, because we
said that we wish the Lions. Would it take Milk Willis?
Speaker 5 (01:25:39):
Trade up?
Speaker 6 (01:25:39):
Get Malik Willis.
Speaker 5 (01:25:40):
You aren't top ten, You aren't the only one.
Speaker 4 (01:25:42):
Young Doug said the same thing.
Speaker 6 (01:25:45):
Hey, when they traded that's right, when they traded up. Uh,
in that remember when they got Jamo. Ryan and I
were like jumping up and down like two schoolgirls, saying,
all right, we got our quarterback. And they took Jameson Williams,
but uh, hey, we want the only ones that liked him.
What suckled us, what suckered us was the Mike Tomlin rumors.
(01:26:09):
Mike Tomlin supposedly just fell in love with this guy,
blah blah blah. He didn't take him. He took Kenny
Pickett took the wrong guy. Maybe if you would have
take him a leak Willis, there were no right guys
in that draft, probably not, probably not. Hey, let's keep
it on the quarterbacks here. This has been It is
about a couple of days old, the Browns owners that
was what are they? The hasl Jimmy, they both took
(01:26:32):
the blame, the husband and wife for the Shawn Watson trade,
and they put it out there and brave you could
read those those things. They pay for this for a
long time.
Speaker 3 (01:26:42):
Yeah, this goes from Mary Kay Cavin, who's a beat
writer for She covered you, she did, we had her
on the show.
Speaker 4 (01:26:48):
You got a playing dealer owner.
Speaker 3 (01:26:49):
Jimmy hows and says the team is still recovering from
the big swing and a miss as Deshaun Watson and
told me n D com excuse me Watson and to
hold me and D accountable.
Speaker 4 (01:27:01):
Owner D has them attributed.
Speaker 3 (01:27:03):
To the swing and miss on Deshaun Watson, to him
getting hurt, suffering three significant injuries in the past two seasons.
So what this tells me is that the wife is
she's just not gonna set blame for it, like it's
basically just saying like, oh, well, you know he got hurt,
and that's not what it was.
Speaker 4 (01:27:18):
What happened was.
Speaker 3 (01:27:19):
After what happened in Houston, whatever it was, Deshaun Watson's
mental was never the same. I don't care if he
would have been healthy the last three and a half
four years, it wouldn't have mattered because with all that swelling,
you gotta be a Kobe like individual who was one
of one, who was one of one, because there's no
(01:27:40):
way you can deal with all those things and still
be able to come out like that if you don't
have that Kobe Mamba energy, and Deshaun Watson didn't have, in.
Speaker 6 (01:27:48):
My opinion, will they ever get will they ever get
it right?
Speaker 5 (01:27:51):
Do you want an apology for Monty from Holly Gorris, Right,
are you kidding me? The first and foremost, we saw
what happened in Carolina when the owner got in Frank
Reich's way and said, let's take Bryce y'all right instead
of c J. Stre mistake. And the fact is is
(01:28:14):
the owner hires these gms to make these decisions. So
why are you meddling? Why is your wife meddling?
Speaker 2 (01:28:24):
Boy?
Speaker 5 (01:28:24):
Why is your wife apologizing? Come on, ridiculous.
Speaker 6 (01:28:30):
I'm not here from Holly Gorshland Browns.
Speaker 3 (01:28:35):
That to dis imagine this though, Let's let's take a
step back. Just imagine this from a fan perspective. You're
a Cleveland Browns fan. You've been You've been supporting this
sorry ass franchise forever. You've been supporting forever, and at
every turn they make these dumb moves that leave you
be fuddled, bewildered. And then after the dumbest move and
(01:28:55):
the history of dumbest moves, this is what they bring
to the plain dealer.
Speaker 4 (01:29:00):
This is what you have to read, either on your
phone or in personal old school with the flip. This
is what you have to read. This is grounds. But
this is why I can't rock with this franchise.
Speaker 3 (01:29:08):
This would be grounds for you know what, I'm gonna
wear X through my number this year until they figure
it out.
Speaker 4 (01:29:13):
This is two thousand and eight with the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
Not necessarily that bad, but the negligence until what you're
looking to in the front office eye this.
Speaker 4 (01:29:21):
This is why I talk about Cleveland like I do
and rightfully, shit and this ain't even the same owner.
Speaker 5 (01:29:26):
Do you want an apology two plus years later? All right, man,
I don't like it. And then and then to apologize
from them sources the apologies came from to me, it's
even more embarrassing.
Speaker 4 (01:29:38):
Well, you know it's not embarrassing. It's going to Mark White.

You see that at Tigers right there? That's what that was, alright,
spect decent right there?
Speaker 4 (01:33:08):
Tom.
Speaker 3 (01:33:08):
You want to finish going around the DONFL because there's
some more interesting stories I do.
Speaker 6 (01:33:12):
Hey, hard knocks. We all enjoyed hard docks over the year. Well,
it looks like the NFL and HBO got together and
they've loosened the requirements deregulation. They loosened the requirements on
Hard Knocks, so you know, some teams don't have to
be forced into into uh getting involved in here. But
here are some of the new rules there. Bray if
(01:33:32):
you can read some of those or answer if you
got some good.
Speaker 4 (01:33:37):
A lot here all zooming for you guys, that good
sweet hang out.
Speaker 14 (01:33:42):
Sorry about that.
Speaker 6 (01:33:43):
It's something to do with first year head coaches. If
you have a first year head coach, you don't.
Speaker 4 (01:33:48):
Training for training camp.
Speaker 3 (01:33:50):
Not have a first year head coach, is not a
member of the division to be featured on Hard Knocks
in season for such upcoming seasons, or a member of
the Vision to be featured in the immediately subsequent season.
The third one is has not been featured in Hard
Knocks Training Camp in the previous eight seasons. Number four
is not then exempt from selection based on such clubs
(01:34:14):
participation in Hard Knocks or the similar access show.
Speaker 4 (01:34:17):
Prior twenty twenty four.
Speaker 5 (01:34:18):
This would have excluded the Lions.
Speaker 6 (01:34:22):
Lions are off because they wanted it, but I mean
their first year.
Speaker 5 (01:34:25):
It was his first year, right, so we wouldn't have
made it that year.
Speaker 6 (01:34:30):
That people wouldn't have fallen in love with us as
big time the big fall that was the birth of
the Lions.
Speaker 5 (01:34:36):
I like and dislike that. I liked that was one
for Campbell, that was your one for him. I don't
know that was pretty positive. Can we get a check
on that? But for me, it makes a lot of
sense because it is a distraction and you got a
guy coming in trying to you know, create his own
landscape and culture, and so you've you've got a lot
(01:34:58):
of distraction in that. At the same point, like you
guys mentioned that first year, which is the first year
that that he's in as coach, it allowed the country
to fall in love with this team. Of course we
didn't start the season off the way that we would
have liked to, but it truly put our culture, the
new culture that Dan and Brad had created on the map,
and again that really contributed to this becoming America's new team.
(01:35:24):
So I think that there it does kind of maybe
hurt a team that's you know, brings in somebody new
that's desperate from some attention, desperate for some just notoriety
and attention to the point where people will want to
go and either watch those games or actually go to
those games.
Speaker 4 (01:35:39):
So half and half for me, lion's hard, not twenty
twenty two, so that's not his first year. Second year, Yeah,
second year, all right, so half for his first year.
Speaker 6 (01:35:51):
Good enough, man. Hey, by the way, John Harball, we
always talk about him and the Ravens. Hey, John Harball.
One of these years, he's either got to put up
or shut up. Right, Even he won a Super Bowl
against his brother, but a lot of people complain that
the Ravens haven't won with Lamar Jackson, blah blah blah. Well,
he got himself a new deal, another three year extension
(01:36:12):
for John Harball, and I do believe he is one
of the better coaches in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:36:16):
This is a smart move.
Speaker 3 (01:36:17):
Look, I know I cracked, and they weren't necessarily jokes,
but I know I poked the bear for the last
couple of seasons.
Speaker 4 (01:36:22):
His failures in the playoff had me concerned. But when
you break it down, he's only the second Heir coach
that the Baltimore Ravens have ever had.
Speaker 3 (01:36:29):
He's bought them with Super Bowl. He's in at least
the playoffs every year, usually the second to third round
of the playoffs, which is a conference championship, So this
makes sense. He's the identity of that city. He has
won at the highest level in that city. You think
of Ray Lewis, you think of Ed Reed, you think
of John Harwell before you think of Brian Billick. So
Lamar's his quarterback. So I think he's He's earned the
(01:36:51):
extension by that right, So I don't have a problem
with it makes sense for a franchise standpoint.
Speaker 6 (01:36:57):
Hey, this is a go ahead answer.
Speaker 5 (01:36:59):
I was just kind of looking in here and it's like,
how many times did they missed the playoffs twenty twenty
one and another not since twenty seventeen. The guy gets
it done even if they don't win a bunch of championships.
Going right back to the beginning of the show, when
we were asking, would you rather have a team that
wins one and then fades to obscurity or do you
want to have a chance year in and year out?
(01:37:21):
And hey, I mean ask the Steelers, the Steelers fans.
They love being there every year. I know they're calling
for their coaches head but I want ten wins. I
want to be in the conversation and the Ravens are
every year.
Speaker 6 (01:37:33):
Speaking of Steelers, and Mike Tomlin. This is about a
week old, but I couldn't let it pass because Bray,
you laughed at it last week and you're like, Mike
Tomlin could really sweat man. So he had this conversation
with Aaron Rodgers last week, and I guess it was
a good conversation. Let's watch and then we'll talk about Mike.
Speaker 12 (01:37:52):
Tom He's a free agent, as you guys know. He
came to visit last Friday and we had a really
productive day. He's been in this thing a long time.
I've been in this thing a long time. But there's
no substitute for you know, intimacy and spending time together
and getting to know one another in a non competitive environment.
(01:38:12):
And so that was really good. But I don't have
any new updates in terms of where the process is.
We'll see where it leads us.
Speaker 5 (01:38:18):
How unsettling is it or is it not this situation.
Speaker 12 (01:38:24):
I'm really comfortable with being unsettled this time of the year.
To be quite honest with you, it's about talent acquisition.
We got two means of main means of acquiring talent
free agency.
Speaker 1 (01:38:34):
In the draft.
Speaker 12 (01:38:35):
We multitask, we do both those those needs that we
fulfilling free agency. Uh, we do so there and when
we don't be fulfilling in the draft. And and so
I just learned over the years that this this time
of year, although you know day to day could be
somewhat uncomfortable, it is a process.
Speaker 4 (01:38:55):
Boy, it was cooking out there. It was hogs fell as.
Speaker 3 (01:38:58):
It sounded like somebody who excuse me, it looked like
someone was cooking onions because those sweat go all the
way down, iron and all the way down. But it's
a it's a sweaty conversation for him. Apparently that the
whole intro to that was wild. But it's an interesting
conversation for him. You know, he's he's put himself in
a position to be one of the best coaches in
the last twenty years in terms of his you know,
(01:39:18):
his record is impeccable, but it's failing. The last four
years it has not looked the same. They've made the playoffs,
but it has been ugly. It has been ugly, or
they haven't made the playoffs, win eight and eight. So
for him, he doesn't want to hang all his hopes
in a guy that is Aaron Rodgers. And we've seen
how he's operated the last four or five years. But
it's gonna be interesting because we know that he's gonna
be a stealer. It's just a matter of win in
(01:39:41):
my opinion. You think I think so, I think its
just the marriage is there, like, yeah, he's not.
Speaker 4 (01:39:46):
He's he's Aaron, but he's.
Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
Not gonna work out with DK Metcalf and you know,
take all these extra meetings. I know it's Aaron, and
I know I give you push back, but in this regard,
I can't see him doing those things. I think a
conversation was has like, look, I'm gonna join you guys,
but I'm gonna do it on my own time. I
don't know how to describe it, but I guarantee he's
had a conversation with them.
Speaker 4 (01:40:08):
I will join, just give me a second.
Speaker 5 (01:40:10):
So I have become much just s.
Speaker 4 (01:40:13):
He wants you to keep talking about him. His name
is still there. If he would have signed the deal,
mas like this is how Aaron thinks.
Speaker 3 (01:40:19):
If the deal was signed two weeks ago, a week ago,
they're not talking about Aaron right now. If the conversation
is done, there's no bewilderment. It's how was he going
to do, but there's no where's Aaron going. He gets
off on it.
Speaker 5 (01:40:31):
That's a thrill for and much just sticks chagrin. I
have become an Aaron Rodgers fan. The plant based therapy,
the the you know, the dark sessions, all of the
things that he's doing to improve himself as a human being.
I'm all on board with that. But this tattoo right
here means being better every day, trying to not feel
(01:40:55):
that you're complete, never letting your guard down, not giving
into yeah, relative yin and yang. This is from the eaching.
It's a two thousand year old language, but it means
just that and never being place and fighting to be
better every day. This guy is a Hall of Famer.
We know that this guy has also written the script
on how to not be successful as a QB for
(01:41:18):
the last two seasons trying to be in New York
Jet and the prescription for failure for him has been
a blown off season. All right, So now you have
this opportunity for maybe your last year to play for
one of the most storied franchises in the NFL, and
you're gonna do the same thing. I think if there's
(01:41:38):
ever a time it's your last year now do things
the right way. Tell us where you're going right now,
show us at yourself at OTAs, let us hear stories
and see videos of you working with George Pickens and
DK Metcalf and anybody else that's there. And let's see
you establish your culture with the team all summer instead
(01:42:02):
of coming in and impressing your culture on an already
established culture come August September. So I would love to
see Rogers do something that we don't expect, and that's
the right thing. No, well, I mean, not to retire.
(01:42:22):
We know that's not gonna happen. To show up, do something,
be the leader of that team, because that's the only
reason why Tom Win is kind of him and and
hauling at all. He'd love to have you in town,
but he wants you to be the quarterback that team,
not just Aaron Rodgers of that team.
Speaker 3 (01:42:38):
Nobody will at the same In my opinion, I think
that still is the only team that pretty much want
him at this moment. I think they're the only ones
that want him or it can handle him. But here's
the thing, this is why he should have signed. This
is why I don't understand what he's doing. And he's
done it before. You gotta get with the team to
what you're saying, you think just because oh it's the
Pittsburgh still is I know Mike Tom and know a
couple of players over there. I ran rounds with DK
(01:42:59):
Meck Yah. Yeah, Craig Haywards, excuse me, Camer Hayward's a
great player. Or they got TJ Whye. You think you
know what the team is, You think you know what
it's like in Pittsburgh. You think you know what the
day to day is. You think you know what the
depth chart is. You think you know what the staff
is like like until.
Speaker 4 (01:43:13):
You go to a place. You don't know what the
place is like. So I don't understand what the way
it is because the longer you wait, the longer it takes.
And when you get.
Speaker 3 (01:43:22):
Somewhere and you're like, oops, oops, I shouldn't have been here.
I shouldn't have made the movie the Poor It's too late.
Speaker 5 (01:43:30):
We shouldn't have brought him here that part.
Speaker 4 (01:43:32):
So that's the waiting game is.
Speaker 3 (01:43:35):
I think you wait too long, you miss out on
that opportunity to build a little bit and to get
the respect early, like he's gonna be trying to get
the respect from his team in November.
Speaker 4 (01:43:44):
Yep, like as opposed to he could have gotten out.
Speaker 5 (01:43:46):
He want to play one more year or you want
to win a championship.
Speaker 3 (01:43:49):
You heard camra Hayer what he say. He said, Look,
I'm not doing all the day and he came back
off the statements. But the first thing he said is
what he said. He said, I'm not doing all that.
Speaker 4 (01:43:57):
He want to play here.
Speaker 3 (01:43:57):
He want to play here, and that's already they added
to in Pittsburgh from the players.
Speaker 5 (01:44:01):
That's not a great attitude in April.
Speaker 6 (01:44:05):
What he's gonna wait to the draft. Once the draft's over,
he'll sign.
Speaker 5 (01:44:09):
Make sure they don't draft the first round quarterback behind him.
Speaker 6 (01:44:13):
They still need to draft a quarterback. They do, but
they have Mason Rudolph. There was their guy.
Speaker 4 (01:44:16):
What's the last day the drafted? Saturday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:44:20):
He will sign Sunday and Monday morning, Monday, righty morning,
he'll sign.
Speaker 5 (01:44:24):
What if they draft Jackson Dart in the first.
Speaker 6 (01:44:27):
He's gonna be gone by the time.
Speaker 5 (01:44:31):
I don't think he goes past number nine.
Speaker 4 (01:44:33):
No, maybe truck Man, you're are you mine?
Speaker 5 (01:44:36):
Johnson Dart?
Speaker 16 (01:44:37):
No?
Speaker 14 (01:44:38):
Hell no, dude, don't do that to the Steelers.
Speaker 4 (01:44:40):
Don't do that to Tom One.
Speaker 5 (01:44:41):
You don't like Jackson Dart No, I do not. Okay
for pickings and nothing that one.
Speaker 4 (01:44:50):
Jackson is a product of the last couple of years.
Speaker 3 (01:44:52):
You just you're just grasping the straws because the third
quarterback in these drafts and now is like pick, we
gotta pick.
Speaker 4 (01:45:00):
So he just feels like a desperation.
Speaker 6 (01:45:01):
Picks up, He'll move it up to charts like Anthony
Richardson did. So he's that type of guy. I mean,
there's a lot of teams. I like him, a lot
of teams. But it's a quarterback, right if you could
throw the ball, you're gonna get drafted.
Speaker 5 (01:45:12):
That's just the way it is.
Speaker 4 (01:45:14):
Has it always been that way?
Speaker 3 (01:45:15):
I feel like a lot of times we don't look back.
We just see things what it is now. We're like,
man like now you Has it.
Speaker 4 (01:45:21):
Always been a crap shoot? The first round for quarterbacks?
Speaker 5 (01:45:24):
Probably?
Speaker 4 (01:45:25):
Lady who's in my draft? I had Jay? Okay, here
we go.
Speaker 6 (01:45:28):
You had an ele of a draft?
Speaker 4 (01:45:29):
Did we first quarterback Aaron Rodgers? Okay? In Alex, Alex
smipples one, Alex Smith, Jason Campbell.
Speaker 6 (01:45:35):
From Auburn yeah, he's a bust.
Speaker 3 (01:45:39):
And then Aaron Rodgers. I think that was the only
we only had one two yeah, three year before that
was Eli Draft, year before that.
Speaker 5 (01:45:47):
Was Pook and the coup is twenty three years old.
Speaker 4 (01:45:49):
Guys, you want to hang them up.
Speaker 6 (01:45:51):
He's already said I'm hanging them up by the time
I'm thirty years old.
Speaker 5 (01:45:54):
Smart do you believe him?
Speaker 6 (01:45:56):
And why would he come out and say something like
that because of.
Speaker 4 (01:45:58):
The truth his his example is Aaron Donald who was
on the team with him, who was his og?
Speaker 6 (01:46:03):
Is his example Aaron Donald? Or was it Cooper Cup who,
as you could see, is now you know, got a
new team. In other words, they saw Cooper Cup get
get is shit right out of there. I think it's
to being at all pro right. I think it's Aaron Donald.
It's because Aaron Donald retired after ten seasons.
Speaker 4 (01:46:22):
Hung him up, let it go. He made all the money.
Speaker 3 (01:46:24):
Nowadays, you're making so much money, like his contract receivers
just signed thirty four million dollar deals right now and
you're talking about he still has another two years before
he's up. You'll make that money in an eight year span,
not to mention the deals that he's going to make
off the field out there in la most known he
probably won't with so far, which is you know this
naming right at the stadium, so you can make a
(01:46:46):
bunch of money. And then also there's so much more
to do in today's world versus back in the day.
Back in the day you play football that was a professional.
I want to play fifty to sixteen years. I'm gonna retire,
maybe open up a car dealership, raise my family right
off into the sunset. Like now, I want to get
into tech. I want to get into conducing podcasting. I
(01:47:07):
want to get into ownership. There's so much for you
to do in this day and age. I would only
give eight years of my life to football in this
with eight to nine years and then do something else. Also,
I don't want to be hurt.
Speaker 4 (01:47:19):
Like eight years. I can get in, I can get out,
I can have my health.
Speaker 3 (01:47:22):
Like Aaron Donald, Aaron Donald played the most aggressive position
in football, the line right. Aaronnald looks good to me,
he looks in your shape to me, he looks like
he's okay to walk to me.
Speaker 4 (01:47:32):
I think it's a mixture of the two.
Speaker 5 (01:47:33):
Get your money, win the championship if you can oh
he missed it and also be able to get out
of bed in under thirty seconds for the rest of
your life. That's what it comes down to. Had on
his shoulder. He's a heart filled man that comes from
a culture that understands the importance of life and living it.
(01:47:56):
And it's not just you know, banging your head against
you know, other helmets for fifteen years to the point
where you grasp every dollar that you can and then
you're hurting for the rest of your life. I'm a huge,
huge fan of Pooka and I hope that he has
a Hall of Fame decade in the NFL.
Speaker 4 (01:48:13):
It's awesome and not I forget Tom.
Speaker 3 (01:48:15):
He watched tomorim much like a lot of us did too,
like as he was already on the path to get
to the NFL, so there was no going back.
Speaker 4 (01:48:24):
I'm sure they had something to do with too late.
It might that scared the hell out of all of us,
including players.
Speaker 6 (01:48:31):
I know, we got one more break to get in.
Then I got a question for you about what was
one of the most extravagant gifts you bought yourself as

phil like time flies when we're when we're doing this
this racket together. But before we get out of their
pistons due play tonight, we talked about okay, man.
Speaker 4 (01:51:37):
Let's see your rocket.
Speaker 6 (01:51:39):
The guitar, thank you feel again and the chat that's awesome, homemade,
very cool, redone, gorgeous guitar. It's gonna stay right here
in the Woodward Sports studios.
Speaker 3 (01:51:50):
Thanks Phil and what do you want to see from
the Pistons against the Kings? And because as you said,
Kings are playing I love it some really good basketball.
As of late, they're still finding trying to give me
wins ada they can.
Speaker 4 (01:52:02):
What do you want to see from the business tonight?
Speaker 5 (01:52:04):
Honestly, I'd like to see Kate.
Speaker 4 (01:52:08):
With no rust.
Speaker 5 (01:52:09):
He looked, he looked like he had been on the
shelf for a little bit. That that game against Memphis
certainly could have been won. And I think what it
came down to was, you know, with eight minutes left,
they take him off the court because he's on a
minute restriction. But even when he came back in, you know,
the team's looking to him to make shots and take
shots because he's the guy, but he just wasn't on.
(01:52:33):
I want to see him play well. If we're going
to meet up with the Knicks, we've got Jalen Brunson
and Kay that have both come off of the shelf.
Just recently. Bruanny just played his first game back. Same
thing with Kate. Those two guys they're going to decide
that series. So for me, I need to see a
healthy kid tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:52:54):
You know what I hate about these other networks. Tom
is I was the end of this skin broke the record,
both Wayne Gretzky's record and the second she turned it
on today to kind of you know, see what the
conversation was. See you know what they talked about. See
the game is kudos, see the in between the you know,
gret Ski and him. All they did was compared to
(01:53:14):
Lebron James, they found away to turn and Wayne Gretzky,
Alexander Beskin's moment they turned Which record is more impressive
Lebron's points or Alexanderskins and his goals?
Speaker 4 (01:53:32):
And then it's why then it's Lebron. I'm like, this
ain't about Lebron.
Speaker 5 (01:53:37):
O can did it with.
Speaker 6 (01:53:40):
One team and one number? Hey grade eight?
Speaker 3 (01:53:44):
Okay, here's a question for you, and this is just hockey,
And I was numbers got the gold record. Where do
you place him in the pantheon players? It doesn't have
to be specific.
Speaker 4 (01:53:55):
Is he top twenty? Is he top fifteen?
Speaker 6 (01:53:58):
Top twenty? Okay, Bob top fifteen, okay, not top ten,
just to there's too many greats, and you know it
would take me a long time to go through them all.
But there's no way he's cracking the top.
Speaker 5 (01:54:10):
I mean the first ten years of his life, people
were talking about him being a top ten guy. You know,
he's done nothing but stay consistent for the second decade
of his career.
Speaker 6 (01:54:18):
You know what we can do this At the end
of our show, Andy o Banya has just hit a
three run home about the third off off of Carlos Rodan.
It's three nothing Tigers. Jake Rogers threw out Ben Rice
at third base. He picked them off at third base
the inning before to save a run. Casey Mayes looks
real good. They got one hit off of him, but
(01:54:40):
Tiger's up three to nothing in snowy co America in
front of about eight hundred people down in America Park.
Speaker 3 (01:54:46):
Right now, all right, look well in the show, will
let you get to the Tigers because look up three
to oh the Yankees.
Speaker 4 (01:54:51):
I want to see it my damnself. So once you
see it as.
Speaker 5 (01:54:53):
Well, offense right now.
Speaker 3 (01:54:57):
Happy belated birthday again to the main man and some
shot to Ricky Pete Mass everybody, love everybody.
Speaker 5 (01:55:04):

Look at my teeter.
Speaker 4 (01:55:09):
Jeez, jeez,
