Speaker 3 (01:35):
To be intrigued before we get started with the show today,
a lot a lot of stuff to talk about.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
We will talk to you about some of their conversation
that we had.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
About the draft. Tigers still red hot. But today is
Jackie Rominson Day. Want sense some love about rest in
peace always. Jackie Robinson nineteen forty seven April fifteenth, He
broke the color barrier, not only in baseball but in sports.
In part two, branch Ricky as well as him, a
little bit Aboutjackie Robinson.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
He was a four sport letterman at UCLA.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
That's right, ladies, gentlemen, the first four sport letterman at
the prestigious university. Also would serve his country where he
would be honorably discharged because he did not want to
go to the back of the bus. He's still do
on business and I love him for it, and he
comes back. In nineteen forty five, he signed with the
Kansas City Monarchs, where they had the best two players
in the Negro League, Satchel Page and Josh Gibson. Branch
(02:26):
Ricky decides got to pick the right individual to be
able to break the color bearer, because it's not just
about the best player. Josh Gibson was the best player,
but it's about someone that can endure everything that was
going on at the times, the racism.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Oppress, the things of that nature.
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Because he saw some things, he was called some things
in that era. And if he would have responded, if
he would have responded to ladies and gentlemen, I don't
know if we would be here today in the world
of sports, because they were just shut the experiment down.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
But Jackie Robinson endured it all.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
He endured all the name calling, he endured all the threats,
on here and the his wife's life via the telephone
in person, the spits, the cleats by the Cincinnati Reds.
Speaker 4 (03:06):
Yea, I remember.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
He endured it all so that we can get here.
And later you have Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell, and
then you have in the NFL what was Motley and
maryon Motley Cleveland Browns like this is what he did
and then he didn't stop there, ladies and gentlemen, after
they won the World Series nineteen fifty five over Tom
Asaway's Yankees. When he retired, he helped start the Bank
(03:33):
of Harlem. He was always about giving back the Bank
of Harlem. He's showing the NAACP as well helping out.
He was always about paying it for. Died in nineteen
seventy two, and when he died he was in the
Hall of Fame. His numbers I read three eleven lifetime
batting average. He had not one forty and a bunch
of home runs, one thirty seven home runs, one hundred
(03:53):
and thirty four runs batted in. He was rookie year
in nineteen forty seven, where he batted two ninety seven
twelve home runs. Jackie Robinson was an amazing man. And
this day is a very special one because it involves everybody.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
It wasn't just about Jackie Robinson, although it should be.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Branch Ricky was an individual that made that decision said hey,
look I want to do something.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
About what's going on. I want to change the game.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
I see some other guys that can play this game,
and I think I can merge that. Branch Ricky, we
appreciate you, and Jackie Robinson will appreciate you. Time as
a way, yep, take.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
It from here.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
I remember it. I remember the day in seventy two
when he passed that broke my heart. Rachel Robinson's beautiful wife.
I think she's still alive if I'm mistaken. A beautiful
woman and showed up at all the ballparks to celebrate
Jackie Robinson day. No one wears number forty two anymore.
Last person to wear it, of course, was Marioto Rivera,
(04:51):
and forty two hangs up in every stadium. Basically started
with the New York Mets, and that's where Rachel Robinson went,
and that's where the first ceremony was. What a ballplayer
and his own teammates hated him. His own freaking teammates
treated him like garbage, except Pee Wee Reese, who befriended him,
hung in there, told all the other guys, hey, go
(05:13):
get bent, man, this is a man's man. He would
still have to stay at a separate hotel, eat at
a separate restaurant when they were traveling on the road.
It was pathetic back in those days. Pathetic. And this
guy endured a lot. He really did not only that
was a phenomenal ballplayer. Stole Home against Jogi Berra. Yogi
(05:38):
still thinks he got him out. He didn't. And it
was in the World Series. Stole Home won the only
championship for the Brooklyn Dodgers before the carpetbag at it
out of town and went to LA with the Giants
in tow. So, Jackie Robinson, I take my hat off
to you. You're a man's man. God bless you. And
(05:59):
we're better, uh here in the United States and in
the world because of people like you. Hanson.
Speaker 8 (06:04):
Yeah, I don't even really know if I can say anything.
You guys put it perfectly. I'm not going to. I'm
really not going to. You guys put it perfectly. It's
a great day to honor this man.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Not that it was important. Man you know we had to.
We covered sports. You know, we cover the stores, We
cover everything surrounding sports. Sports is unifying now, Man. Sports
is unifying its stems with nineteen forty seven April fifteen,
So had.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
To get that out of the way. Man. We got
anything on the chat.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
About one Fati Robertson could have played in today's league,
no doubt about it, no doubt about it. Five tool
guys probably five tool guy and burn Bless you, Jackie.
Not to take away from him in any way, but
the shout out to the Tiger's legend Hank Greenberg, who
was one of the first players to approach and support them.
(06:53):
I also told you about Pee wee ree super friends
befriended him on the Dodgers and helped him navigate through
all the hate that he had to go through.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
I do appreciate our own as well. Here in Detroit
shot the hang Garen Bird. Another thing about jack and
I'm glad you brought that up. The four sport Uh
let him he was cold in football.
Speaker 4 (07:11):
He was a quarterback and running back. He got a
chance to see some footage.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I'm like Jackie could have easily played football, easily played tailback,
but I had to throw that out there.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
We did.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
We appreciate. Let's get into the show. Detroit Tigers. Still
hot man, wow, still hot man, nine to one, giving
up a BS run to the Brewers. And the ninth
inning Turk schoobl nine seven of his pitch, fourheads nine
K's nine correct and in the last was it the
(07:42):
last two games fifteen strikeouts and the last two hollings
for him, it would be safe to say knocked off
at before we dive into a little further. I think
we got a little graphic. We can throw that up there.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Let's go on Detroit Tigers by the numbers, if you.
Speaker 6 (07:57):
Will, Pete Power Rankings.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
No, it's not, shouldn't be this one by the numbers.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
This one, my friend, I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
I sent it in the Lynlyn.
Speaker 6 (08:08):
Oh oh, I'm so sorry. Pray that is on me.
That is on me.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Here there you go on me, Detroit Pete Detroit Tigers
five the numbers twenty twenty five. There are ten and six,
which is first the American League. There are four and
one in series this year, and yesterday they start one
to zero against the Milwaukee Rwers. Spencer Torpusen two eighty
eight bat and average, five home runs, twelve RBIs and
(08:34):
a one thousand and seven ops Trek Scoob two and
two first two or wins the Los Angeles Dodgers. Excuse me,
since then we talked about it. He's picked up, he's
found this swag two sixty six, twenty five k's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (08:49):
Riley Green, Hey, he's got three.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Home runs two thirty three, and you can see the numbers,
and then the plus twenty three run differential makes them
fifth in the MLB. That was one that jumped out
at me, and I'm proud out that I saw it
and got the right name. Thank you to Ryan Linz
got the right name for that. That that that stack.
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Excuse me.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Plus twenty three is amazed considering where they were last year.
Last year they were at minus sixteen.
Speaker 8 (09:12):
Yeah, they needed every pitch of their pitching chaos last
year to just edge teams out.
Speaker 5 (09:20):
Pause.
Speaker 8 (09:21):
Uh, this this team right now, the offense is just
clicking so well. You bring in a Casey Mice who's
healthy and pitching like a stud. You bring back Flaherty,
who obviously wants to be here, who was a big
part of winning a championship last year.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
The chows yes to come back. That's the important to Detroit.
Speaker 8 (09:43):
So now the pitching is starting to look dominating. You
got Jackson Joeb who's just looking like maybe a Rookie
the Year candidate. So all of a sudden, the pitching
is already good, but now it's gotten better. But you
had some offense, and that the biggest problem this team
had was winning by a decent mark, and it was
always just scraping by. So if they can continue this,
(10:04):
because this is a team that's for five ten years now,
they've been slow starting, and we've been talking about them
towards the end of summer. Oh well if they would
have just started quickly. Well we got this quick start
now and we've got a deep rotation. We've got guys
that can get on base, but we actually have guys
that can knock them home. Now this team mom absolutely
(10:25):
looks like the class of the Central Division.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
And they're doing it without Riley Green, who is basically
having his worst start of a season in his career,
his young career. He's got to bounce back. Kerry Carpenter
when they let him play, he delivers another home run
last night. This guy hits bombs man let me tell you,
even if he doesn't hit it out of a park,
he is chasing outfielders to the wall.
Speaker 4 (10:48):
Most times he's at flatform runs. Correct, That's what I
meant to put up there. It wasn't Riley Green at
three because it.
Speaker 5 (10:55):
Was Riley's on the back screen. Man if he could
show up, great, Hobby Baiez is showing up the sho
he's putting the ball, jamiir base.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
He's got a base.
Speaker 5 (11:09):
He's putting the ball in play most of the times.
He looks bad only once in a while now, which
is really good. We love it. And then last night
Labor torres Baby, it's clayber Dad. Three RBIs for Labor. Uh,
And tonight Jack Flawherty goes that should they should put
another one in the win column. The Brewers are fading
right now. They had a tough loss on Sunday, they
(11:30):
get run out of town last night. Bernie Brewer is
not going down that slide anymore. That's when they hit
home runs. The Tigers should beat him again tonight. And uh,
they have the most wins in the American League. Hell,
let's go eleven and sex after tonight, let's go let's
chase that eighty four Tigers start.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Let's do it, Jack flairity off to one of those starts.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
One sixty six is a e r Getting back to
Javier base You know what, he's an older player. If
we don't look at it from the standpoint of how
bad he's played. So every time he makes it bad,
you look at it like Javer, I.
Speaker 8 (12:02):
Need to slow you down here? Can you pronounce that
name again?
Speaker 5 (12:07):
Is that what they're doing?
Speaker 4 (12:08):
You didn't see Mike and Key No, oh okay, I
was ideal.
Speaker 5 (12:13):
I called him third base Hobby.
Speaker 8 (12:15):
Everybody's got their own little finger.
Speaker 4 (12:17):
So you don't ruin the mojo.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
But what I'm saying is he's this is a BA
a baseball player his age. This is how they play,
how they should play. I enjoy when he makes them stay.
I'm like, yeah, you're fourteen years in. It's supposed to
happen that way. But it's enjoyable. It's very enjoyable.
Speaker 4 (12:32):
Because now time as away.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Remember last year when you had to back and forth,
was was it Balley's or what's coming next?
Speaker 4 (12:38):
Or is it Diamond Company? Or is it this? Who's it?
Speaker 3 (12:42):
Like people were tuned out and the Tigers weren't even
good at the time, so it didn't matter. Then the
Tigers went on the run. I still wasn't tuned into
the Tigers.
Speaker 9 (12:50):
This year.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
I was excited to find out, all right, what's this
fan duel situation?
Speaker 4 (12:54):
What do I need to do? Which wasn't much because
it was on Prime.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
I got it and was excited and oh, by the way,
I got the wings in the pill Is what I'm
saying is our franchise is talking about the Tigers right now.
They're exciting where they make people looking. How can I
access this? You guys talked about it last year. I
didn't care and understand it.
Speaker 4 (13:10):
Now I'm just excited. You guys an't talking about it.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
They must see TV now.
Speaker 8 (13:14):
Yeah, well, you guys know I pirate it. So I
got one spot I go to and I just pressed.
But I'm not telling you where.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
I'm not going to tell you where.
Speaker 8 (13:21):
But no, I mean honestly that we've been talking about
this since the advent of Woodward Sports. When this started
up in twenty twenty, this was supposed to be the
decade of the resurgence of Detroit sports. We've obviously seen
it with the Lions, the Tigers were able to capitalize
on it last year. Those pistons we'll talk about a
(13:41):
little bit later today. And I think that the Red
Wings are right on the cusp of that. So, as
a Detroit sports fan coming off of COVID, when you
were stuck in the house and you didn't have anything
to watch, interest is high. Passion is even higher in
the greatest talent for sports in the world.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
Now as I want to ask you a question, but
first let you cook a little bit.
Speaker 6 (14:01):
Oh no, that's cool.
Speaker 7 (14:02):
I just wanted to say that I really agree with
what you guys are all saying, because I mean, the
Tigers are just absolutely they're proving me wrong.
Speaker 6 (14:08):
I was one of the guys who doubted it. I thought.
Speaker 7 (14:10):
I even told the guys in the chat, some of
you guys in the chat, I remember, I typed in
the chat, I think they're gonna be in fourth place
or possibly in the fifth place within two weeks of
the first two weeks of this season.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
I was wrong. And you know why I was wrong, guys.
It's a j Hinch. This guy's a magician.
Speaker 7 (14:25):
I mean mas, he doesn't need garbage cans to manage man.
He doesn't need you know, a little short second basements
with microphones to get the plays in. This guy can
manage guys. You guys say we have the best team
in the American League. I think we have the best
manager in the American League.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Bray, You know what, Pete, Sometimes it's okay to be
wrong because it works out in your favorite Tom has Away.
All right, now, everybody's excited. We're excited talking about this
first place ALE team. Spencer Torgez is hitting the bombs,
is playing his tail off for how he's played the
last couple of years. Is there any two Pauls? Is
there anything there is?
Speaker 5 (15:01):
Nope? Uh. This team is only gonna get better once
they get Matt Vierling back in the lineup, and then
you know, you got to start to get healthy. You
got another month without Parker Meadows. We're gonna pray that
is just a month. We're gonna pray that June first
comes and he can parade and get out there and
center field and change that whole outfield dynamic because there
(15:23):
are people playing at a position right now. And Torque
came in and he won his job back at first base.
So what do you do with Coke Keith? You might
have the d H once he gets hitting again again.
I speak for Riley Green. He cannot be in this
slump much longer. He's too good of a player to
be in the slump. I think he'll come out of it.
You got two catchers that are as good as anybody
(15:44):
in American League. Got Dingler, who's hitting way above what
they thought he was gonna hit. And Jake Rodgers, one
of the best defensive catchers in the game, although he's
hurt right now. You don't have a real third baseman yet,
it's coming man. And then you got Kevin mcgonkall, the
shortstop of the future. He might be up by mid
season unless the Tigers keep rolling. That don't even change anything,
(16:05):
Zach mckissory, you're fine, right, you know, Sweetey, You're fine.
Everything seems to be working right now, so I wouldn't
change a damn thing. Once they finished these next two
games in Milwaukee, they start a ten game homestand three
games over Easter Weekend with Kansas City. After that, you'll
have who's coming in after Kansas City? Baltimore's after them. Yeah, Hey,
(16:30):
I got it right here, San Diego, there you go.
Fernando Tattis and the guy you know who, Man Diego,
is one of the best records in baseball, if not
the bestball.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
You know who.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
My guy is Man Machado. Speaking of that, I'm glad
you brought that up. And I also thought you said Monica.
I was like Monica, and then I heard Pete.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
You know where I'm going to throw up the MLB
Baseball rankings. There we go, and guess who's on the list?
Speaker 9 (16:53):
About it?
Speaker 3 (16:54):
The Detroit Tigers coming in at number eight on the
power rankings.
Speaker 4 (16:58):
They are preceded. Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
Yankees is saying, let me start at ten, Diamondbacks, Rangers,
Tigers at eight. Your Yankees are seven. Even though they're
behind the Tigers can understand that. I'm mad. San Francisco
Giants six, Top five mass I'll let you take it
from here.
Speaker 4 (17:14):
Are you comfortable? What do you think about the top
five teams.
Speaker 5 (17:16):
Of the highest scoring team in the league. I have
no problem with them. The Mets as good a lineup
as anybody. The Phillies always going to be banging on
the door of the Padres best record in baseball, and
of course the super team, the La Dodgers. Here I
have no issues with the top five whatsoever.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
Okay, do me a favorite pee put that back up
here for the chat. And this is for everybody in here.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
What teams on here do you think the Tigers could
not beat in the seven game series? Currently? Start with
the Dodgers. We already know the answer to that one.
Number two. Well, actually, the Dodgers haven't played well in.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
The last six games, so I will pose that question
Dodgers the Dodgers.
Speaker 5 (17:54):
The Tigers had the lead in all three games.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Okay, so Dodgers still.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
Maybe they can win two games seven.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
So they lose Padres?
Speaker 5 (18:02):
Uh the other tough one to rematch eighty four?
Speaker 4 (18:08):
Don't know.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
Padres probably have their number Phillies.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Phillies punished the Dodgers early in the season.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
I think they could beat the Phills Right now as we.
Speaker 4 (18:17):
Sit, I think the Phils are the best. But that's
just me as of right here we go.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Juan Soto has found three home runs so far this season.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
New York Mets.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
Matt's are going to be here off a Labor Day weekend.
I can't wait to see him. I'll go home and
see him trying to beat Labor Day. That's are gonna
be tough to beat in the seven game series. Right now,
as we sit, the National League is better than the
American League.
Speaker 8 (18:40):
Clay Holmes look real good last night.
Speaker 5 (18:42):
From a reliever to a starter. Amazing player, Amazing and.
Speaker 8 (18:47):
Like that, Freddy. Those guys that sit in relief for
a few years and then get the tap to turn
into spece, those guys are tough, man.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
They could beat the Cubs, Okay, series, I agree, I agree.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
I've seen the Cubs a couple of times this season.
It just seems like a little bit of inconsistency as
released to some of the.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
If you played a giant pitch get Lander against you.
Matter of fact, I forget who san Franz playing. I
just know Verland against the ball tonight.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
But time we got Alex Cobb.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
Oh, that's right, we haven't seen him yet.
Speaker 8 (19:20):
We got eight nine Lou Brown managing this team. That's
a Major League reference. Can you give him the pictures
that you have? Look what he did with the pitchers
he had last year. This pitching staff is so much
better than they were last year. I gotta be honest
with you. The Dodgers is the only team I don't
think that they can be in the seven game series.
(19:42):
I think the San Diego matchup is so similar. They're
both playing in gigantic stadiums, which really kind of helps
the Tigers because they don't have as many big bats
like the tattiss.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
America National Park they call it.
Speaker 8 (19:57):
And so that that matchup up and down. You know,
I think the Phillies are overrated. I think the Cubs
are kind of slept on a bunch of those guys
on the right side of that craft. They're right on
equal footing. It's hard for people to accept the fact
that the Tigers are this good, but they're not just
this good on paper.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
They're showing it. They could beat the Yankees in a
seven game series. I was confident last year they would
have played them. They could have beat them.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
All right, Well, I love that we have faith in
our team.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
Want to deserve having fun with our April forgetting.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Commercials back.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
Basketball playoffs, Anson, I know you're excited to play ins.
They start today obviously the Pistons and the rest of
the playoffs and starts a Saturday. But today you got
two games and we'll start with the Let's go Atlanta,
let's go Warriors.
Speaker 4 (20:50):
I want to get the Warriors out of the way.
For Warriors and Memphis, what are you seeing this game?
Speaker 8 (20:55):
I see the referees Adams over doing everything they can
to get Steph Curry into the playoffs. But listen, Memphis Grizzlies,
in my opinion, are one of the three best teams
in the West, but with the injuries that they had
and trying to keep a consistent roster, they couldn't stay winning. Now,
(21:19):
with John Morant and a full healthy lineup, they're going
to give the Warriors everything that they can handle. This
to me screams NBA versus the Memphis Grizzlies, and we
know the NBA does not like the Memphis Grizzlies. I
love me some triple j Jaron Jackson stud all comes
(21:39):
down to what John Morant can do and how healthy
he is in that game.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
They're a better team.
Speaker 8 (21:44):
But I think that the NBA is going to give
the Dubs one last push into the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
I think you're right about that, Mass, but I think
Memphis is a better team, and I think you look
at the last I did you look at the last
couple of games for the Warriors may even struggling. I
think they're tired up they're three and three in the
last couple of games, Jimmy Butler is starting to find
the Jimmy Butler swag and Steph it's how much can
you put on his back?
Speaker 4 (22:08):
Like how much?
Speaker 3 (22:09):
How much of the low can you brunt with Steph?
Because if he doesn't have fifty, you know what of
the Golden State wars? So that's why I'm at with that.
I think it's Memphis. I think it's Jazz time. I
think Johns he's not doing it the correct way all
the way. But Gio's pissed. Jiz piss is sometimes being
pissed off is good. He wants to prove himself. He
(22:29):
wants to show that he's better than Anthony Edwards, who
they gave the league too because.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
He didn't want it.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
So give me the Memphis grizsies on that you feel
about your boy Steph Man.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
Well before I before I talk about Steph winn, is
it is it a one and done or is it
a best of three? I get confused.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
If the lower seed wins is over right.
Speaker 8 (22:50):
Yeah, if he's is this the uh this is the
seven eight game?
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (22:56):
So the seven eight game winner goes automatically and the
loser goes to play the winner.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
Of the nine got it and the nine ten will
be Mavericks and Kings, So that not all did the
Mavericks make it into the playing They should have They
should have lost, and Chirsty they should have tried to
get a lottery pick. Maybe the NBA would have done
him a favor this time and get him Cooper flag.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
But set tanking is a GM's job, like like tanking
is what the GM comes to you.
Speaker 5 (23:27):
And tried traded the franchise.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
True, but he doesn't know what he's doing. And then
Jason kidds the head coach. A coach wants to win.
A coach is gonna go out there and play coach
isn't operating by I'm gonna lose this game, but this
is what we're gonna do.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
I'm sitting this guy.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
So I think Nico Collins, who is the fall guy
for a bigger thing once again, he has to pull
that trick.
Speaker 5 (23:48):
So this is a seven to eight battle. So the
winner becomes the seventh seeds right immediately, Yeah, who do
they play the two seeds? Is that la la was? No?
Speaker 4 (23:59):
That's hang on.
Speaker 10 (24:04):
It.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
It says we can't play no not. You're right, yeah,
I'll get.
Speaker 8 (24:12):
I gotta be honest with you, and I know that
mass is going to be against this. I'm really curious
where you sit on this. I'm ready for the changing
of the guard. I want Lebron to lose badly. I am.
I'm a fan of Steff, but it's time to turn
the page and a bunch of these guys that are
holding over this last era while we're trying to get
(24:34):
into this new one.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
I'm ready for it.
Speaker 8 (24:37):
I want the Dubs to lose as much as I
am afraid of the future of the Orlando Magic. Put
the damn Hawks to rest, and let's see one of
the future teams of the Eastern Conference get out of
there and go give the Celtics hell. I want this
new era. I want to see Jah and Jaron Jackson
(24:58):
get out of there and actually have an opportunity to
win a first round Playff metchup because they're that good.
Speaker 5 (25:04):
It looks like they're playing the Rockets. The winner of
this game would play institute cracked.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
If you want to be to come the new Guard,
we'll go take it from No.
Speaker 8 (25:14):
Absolutely, are you ready for it?
Speaker 4 (25:16):
I am, but you we'll go take it.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Yeah, Like I don't want to get in there like
you're talking about with the reps and the calls and
the penonies, somebody getting injured. Go take it like that's
how you do it. Every next wave has done that.
Jordan did it to Bird and Magic. You know, Kobe Shaq, Lebron,
you know Kobe Shack.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
They did it. Lebron and you d Wade. They took you.
See I say, Lebron Andy Way No, But that's how
you're supposed to.
Speaker 5 (25:39):
Steph Curry.
Speaker 4 (25:40):
He took it from Lebron, So you gotta take it
if you want it.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
So like if John Moran wants it, here it is
Jalen Green and the Houston Rockets.
Speaker 4 (25:47):
Went there is SGA. Step up. I've been hearing about it.
I've been hearing it. This is the team. SGA is
the guy. This is the offense they've done all right.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
I don't care about those fifty forties in the first
I mean the regular season, So go take it.
Speaker 8 (26:00):
I'll be And it's going to be that much harder
to take it because the NBA said to turn the
page from these guys quite yet. So I agree. You
got to come in there and you got to take it.
But it's not just a regular game. This is a
game that literally might end Steph's playoff career, you know.
And then you look at the Lakers. Obviously they're in.
(26:21):
I can't see them not making the Western Conference Finals,
not because I believe in that team, but I know
the NBA and they are not ready to let that
page get turned. And I'll tell you if it's LA
and OKC in the Western Conference Finals, SGN know those
boys are going to have a lot more to overcome
than just the purple and goal.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Real quick on Orlando and the Hawks, and we'll take
quick commercial break and then we'll come back and we'll
talk about you.
Speaker 4 (26:44):
Know, actually for them blue but Troit Pistons when we
get back.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
But last, Dingy, Orlando, Orlando has two guys that are stunts.
Are also two guys nine figures like I need to
see something Moody Paulo Benko nine figures, Franz Wagner nine figures.
This is the year, Like you said, you want to
see that new guard. Well, y'all got paid because you
guys are balling. So now, Stepa, it's the Hawks. They've
(27:09):
been waiting to bury the Hawks for so many years.
You can go back to the Jeff t and Kyle
Korvera Hawks.
Speaker 8 (27:16):
Let's go back to the Mutumbo and Mookie Black.
Speaker 4 (27:18):
And Steve Smith.
Speaker 8 (27:20):
Do you know do you know what the Pearl Jam's
original name of their band.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Was Steve Smith the Hawks, it was Mookie Blaylock.
Speaker 8 (27:29):
That was the name of Pearl Jam. I swear they
actually changed it because of legal implications. Cham was originally
known as Mookie, which is a pretty awesome and.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
You can get a little bit of residual dude, that's
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
Let's talk about these pisons when we get back with
first the message from the best pizza spot, not only
in the city, maybe the nation.
Speaker 8 (27:56):

Speaker 4 (31:21):
Yeah, answer you got decided. It's pretty good. You got
this pretty good situation going on in to forty five.
So I'm over here writing.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Down because hold on, really it's gonna be fun. But
I just feel like everyone's gonna try to do all
Detroit and we're all gonna end up with the same answer.
Speaker 8 (31:38):
There is one answer I feel we will all share too.
Speaker 5 (31:41):
Not me.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
I don't say, but I'm just trying to get so
I can get one. But we don't all have the
same thing. I'm trying to do I need to change.
Speaker 8 (31:48):
But I don't listen. You could do no, I mean
we can clone them. They go out the bag.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
Yes for six, Yes for five, I got six?
Speaker 4 (31:54):
Oh for four? You're the fifth, you're the fifth time?
Speaker 5 (32:02):
Yeah, and you can't bring box mm.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
But if you can't get this up?
Speaker 5 (32:07):
Is your You didn't write that the four sports?
Speaker 6 (32:11):
Yeah, it's simple mass.
Speaker 8 (32:14):
You guys get mad at me when I changed team.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
You're on the squad.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
That's funny.
Speaker 5 (32:19):
I'll standing behind my four though. You are all right.
Speaker 3 (32:21):
Here we go Detroit Pistons set to rock and roll
against the New York next to Saturday. Now, look, sixth
seed versus four seed. There's a lot of conversation. Now
runs is not her not healthy? What does tims look like?
What does the team look like as a whole, because
it's been a rough season for them, And and Nobe
Howard is he he's.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
Nurse hamstrings all season?
Speaker 3 (32:42):
He nursed hamstring last year the playoff as well as
a playoff ending injury. So what are they There's a
chance there's now a buzz going a little bit.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
It's like, I think they have more than a shot
to win this.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
So I got to thinking, what other sixth seeds have
played four seeds.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
And had no problem. Here we go.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
So we got a couple for you guys. Excuse me,
well six for us six verse four is what I have.
So six and fours. Nineteen ninety five Houston Rockets. They
beat the sixth seed Golden State. You know what East
Rockets did ninety five they won the title, by the way.
Twenty eleven Miami Heat over the four seas Chicago Bulls.
(33:22):
They had Lebron and d Way, but they were indeed
the sixth seed. Chicago under d Rose was a fourth seed.
Atlanta Hawks speaking Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
Hawks, twenty seventeen ft Kyle Korver, I sold Joe one
of them.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
He's probably the most underrated basketball player of all time,
but anyway.
Speaker 8 (33:41):
He's built a cult legend following in the NBA community.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
And that's too. I pay attention to this, and that's.
Speaker 5 (33:48):
Where you paida Hawks to me, the Atlanta Hawks are
the most inconsequential franchise in all the sports. The Atlanta
Hawks have done.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
You might have something Clipper have done. Nothing Clipper Clippers
have some moments, though, like.
Speaker 5 (34:04):
Atlanta has been around long and in the Clippers kind yeah, okay, well,
Atlanta Clippers.
Speaker 8 (34:09):
Were also the Braves and some others is a zero.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
Absolutely the home run. They have Chris Paul and Blake Griffin,
Like he wipes out everything the Hawks have ever done
and that was only nine years.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Okay, not individual players. I'm not wiping out the human highlight.
I'm not wiping out the human highlight.
Speaker 5 (34:27):
They have Pete Maravich Webb darn it.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
Yeah, but Duncan dunk well one out there cooking in games.
Speaker 5 (34:36):
Like they are so meaningless. When I see the Atlanta Hawks,
that's a that's a road, that's a that's a kill nothing, right,
don't love anything.
Speaker 6 (34:45):
It's just a highlight team, literally producers.
Speaker 5 (34:48):
Sorry, when I hear the Hawks and they're in the
playoffs and.
Speaker 8 (34:51):
They Kevin Willis just a whole bunch of non consequential
big mans.
Speaker 4 (34:58):
Kevin Willis went to ket School and Hee went to
Michigan State. But you know, I got support that he's Detroit.
Speaker 5 (35:04):
They make the Lions look like a day Atlanta Hawk,
now they do.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
They definitely do.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
The Moral of the story though, is there is a
path and you look at this, it's clear as twenty
eighteen Cleveland over there's twenty twenty.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
Four Brooklyn Nets.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
The list goes on all I say that to say
that there's more than a chance because all those teams
had what they had a superstar and answer last time
I checked, Detroit has a budding superstar. It probably wouldn't
make no less the second team All NBA this year
Detroit Pistons go.
Speaker 8 (35:35):
We've been here for four and a half years. It
Wouldward Sports. I've been here since day one, and I
have been waiting patiently for the day that I got
to come in and talk with you guys about Detroit
Pistons playoff back. I haven't broke down the the sixth
seeds that have gotten out of the first round. I
should do that. I did go back and look for
(35:57):
some receipts last night and February eleventh. I told you
that this team would go and win forty four games
and upset the New York Knicks in the first round
February loved check my receipts. Basically, we're looking at a
team that is gelling. You get a guy back who
looks like he really should be first team All NBA.
(36:19):
But we talked about if that's one of those things
you have to earn he's gonna get a first, he's
gonna get an all team bid, second or third. I
don't know if he'll get first, but he does deserve it.
When you talk twenty five to five and five, there's
only five guys in the NBA that are doing that
right now, and he's an elite defender. He's come back
and he's not injured anymore. He's knocked a rust off,
saw some rust on Brunnie. They were both out about
(36:41):
the same amount of time. To me, we've talked about
kat Karl Anthony Tals being a huge, huge X factor,
not even an X factor. That's what's the motor that
is going to get the Knicks out of the first
round or stall him with the first round. Exit got
big stew and we got Durren that are gonna wear
him out for six seven games. But I think it
(37:02):
comes down to a guy that you mentioned earlier, and
that is og Ananobi, a guy that is hobbled right
now that is probably the most disruptive and versatile defensive
presence that the Knicks have. But he's also a great
outside shooter. He's an offensive catalyst. And if that guy's
not right, this series could be over. Much quicker than
(37:25):
other people think. Now, Stick and I were talking before
I came in, before the show started. Well, no, he was.
He was excited, you know, and I'm excited. And I
guess one of the things that's a little dangerous because
we know Detroit sports teams are best when they're underestimated.
And there's a lot of people calling for this upset
right now, but it's it's not just because we're fans.
Speaker 5 (37:47):
When you look at the matchup.
Speaker 8 (37:49):
This is a matchup that favors the Pistons at least
to play right with them. Do I think they're the
better team, I'm not sure, but I know that this
team can beat him. And I'm saying it right now.
You're gonna see your Detroit Pistons in the second round.
Speaker 4 (38:02):
Here's the question for you answering in Maz, I want
you to answer as well. One of the biggest issues
with the Knicks is you're gonna have to play on
both ends of the court. Are You're gonna have to
play defense and you're gonna have to score points? How
will that play with this Pistons team playing defensive playing offense?
Will they have enough gas in the playoffs? Mind?
Speaker 3 (38:19):
You, because the intensity goes up just a little bit,
nuance has changed a bit. How much gas will they
have on both sides of the floor, because last time
I checked Michel Bridges, You're gonna have to check him Annobe.
If he's healthy, you're gonna have to check him. Jalen Brunson.
Even if he's hurt. We saw him hurt last year.
He still average twenty six in the playoffs. I mean
the run against the uh the Pacers, and then obviously
(38:39):
it's cat. So how do you feel about that?
Speaker 8 (38:41):
That's a great question, Bray. We watched the game the
other night, third to last game of the season. They
obviously didn't have heart and and og, but the guys
like PJ. Tucker and some of the guys that they
were bringing in off the bench.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
Experienced guys.
Speaker 8 (38:57):
But they have to use all ten of those guys
to be able to keep up with this young team.
This is a much younger team and a much more
defensively driven Piston team. So I think that yes, they're
gonna have to hit shots, and there's gonna be some
games where they're not, and we're gonna lose those games.
But I think that the onus is on the Knicks
to keep up with this young team, Cat's gonna have
(39:19):
to play thirty eight minutes a game or more to
win this series. But when you get to take Duran
and then swap him out for Stu and then even
put a little Paul Reid by game five, game six,
game seven, Cat's going to be tired. So I think
it's the opposite. I think, yes, we have to hit
shots and we have to execute, and we can't get
(39:40):
up into a mind game where we show our youth.
We just have to run and run and run and
run until seven games are finished. Because if that's the case,
these young fellows will run them out of that series.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
So very balid point that youth can play a great
factor as it relates to the energy, because they're gonna
have a buntons of it mass easy. Your two teams, yep,
Born and Raise. Right now in New Jersey, you cheer
for the Knicks and now the Detroit Pistons. Where are
you at with this game? In this uh the situation.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
I think the Pistons need to win game one, and
I feel it's gonna be a very close game, and
I hate if they lose a heartbreaker because if they
lose a heartbreaker at the Garden. I think it'll fester
with this team. I think they need Game one. Take
take it away from the Knicks right away. Play your
(40:29):
best game in game one. Get that one, steal it,
and then you're gonna come home. If you lose game two, okay,
play hard with them, and if you lose game two,
who cares? Then you come home the Little Caesars for
the first playoff game in the history of that building.
Hopefully it's a beautiful day and they get to be
out in the court as well. The courtyard which hasn't
(40:49):
been named yet. It's the Chevy Plaza right now. And
yesterday we threw a bunch of names out and none
of them really hit home. I got one for you,
and I know you said you got one, so let's
hear it. What's gonna be the Pistons courtyard name.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
I got one for you, And this comes from my boy, Jeff.
Shout Jeff. The assembly line.
Speaker 5 (41:07):
The assembly line.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
We think about that because it has I like it.
It has to connect to the audio someone somehow.
Speaker 5 (41:14):
I like it. Lie Park, Okay, yeah, I like it.
Speaker 4 (41:19):
I'm open for interpretations.
Speaker 5 (41:21):
Assembly line, it's an assembly line, just leave. It's no.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
You know it's gonna be. It's gonna be the blank
assembly line.
Speaker 8 (41:29):
Smoke cigarettes out there, though, please smoke show the nineties.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
He smokes the I plan on smoking some gas. I
don't know exactly. I'm going to concerts of the l
c A. On the inside. It smells like nothing, but
gas depends on the But the fact is they let
it go down.
Speaker 9 (41:49):
You know a lot, let it go.
Speaker 5 (41:52):
I park it a lot, and I'm high, okay in
the parking lot, automatically high.
Speaker 6 (41:59):
I got a basket down beyond.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
Hey man, you got a basket on me.
Speaker 8 (42:02):
I'm to come to my one of my parties once
a month every month for like a year or two.
And he always had just the one request. I always
granted him that.
Speaker 5 (42:11):
Oh God, anyway, I need the Pistons to win to
me win game one, split with New York, but get
game one and then come home the Little Caesars, and
we got a little something for the next when they
come here.
Speaker 8 (42:25):
Well in the old four finals for us on game one.
I like that.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
I'm excited for it. I'm excited for a match because
I think JB.
Speaker 3 (42:31):
Bigger Staff, who's been to the playoffs, the last three
years in a row in Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
First of all, he got that team from a less
than team, then got them playoff right, and he went
three years in a row. Uh, but there was there.
Speaker 3 (42:43):
Wasn't buying from Donovan Mitchell, who's a Cleveland guy. Cleveland
didn't draft Donovan Mitchell. Donovan Mitchell wasn't playing necessarily for Cleveland.
He was playing because he wants the ball out, he
wants to ring, he wants to be in the pantheon.
Speaker 4 (42:56):
Of his peers. And that's cool. But now J. B.
Speaker 3 (42:59):
Bigger Staff, who has that experience, he brings that to Detroit,
and he brings it to Kate Cunningham, who's our superstar.
K's playing for Detroit and himself and the city and
his teammates.
Speaker 4 (43:10):
JB.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
Bickerstaff. That's what he needed. It's a missing peace. You
get a player to buy into what you're buying it.
And oh, by the way, he's a star, He's a superstar.
Speaker 4 (43:19):
I think the runs that JB.
Speaker 3 (43:21):
Bickerstep had over the past three years have taught him
and I think he's gonna give that the kay and
I think it's gonna be magical, and I'm getting excited.
Speaker 4 (43:28):
You're thinking about it, it's gonna be a lot. It's
just gonna be fun.
Speaker 3 (43:31):
Yeah, because the Pistons play on both ends of the court.
They're ten deep, as you and Anson talked about last week.
Their attend team and their players make plays, their players
find ways. That's why I love the belt concept because
every game, a different player leaves that locker room with
the belt.
Speaker 4 (43:48):
A different player stepped up.
Speaker 3 (43:50):
When the moment called for whether it was an old
veteran and Tobias Harris, whether it was a young veteran
and excuse me, a young player and sar Thompson's always
somebody stepping up. Tim Hardway Junior I had thirty four
four days ago when they needed.
Speaker 5 (44:03):
It to stick it to the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (44:05):
Oh, it's a couple of players.
Speaker 3 (44:06):
So I love that element too, Like it's just it's
everyone steps up and that's how they've had success.
Speaker 8 (44:12):
Hey, with all respect to Donovan Mitchell, he is no
Luke Kennard. However, he has found himself in a place
and he's very very happy. This guy he has that
I don't want to say mama mentellity, but he has
that goat mentality and he has certainly blossomed there I
think that this Cleveland Cavalier team and this young Pistons team,
(44:34):
it might not happen this year, but there are some
epic playoff battles over the next few years for these
two teams. When you look at though, with kid Cunningham,
this guy right when he got here, he was happy
to be here, and then all the guys that got
drafted after him, they all loved being here. You see
him pulling up that Detroit this kid is we haven't
(44:57):
seen much of this in Detroit in the last twenty
years of pe that truly want to be here and
the guys that have all of a sudden everything's changed
after that. I got a question for you. Is Cave
Cunningham going to be the next and first in a
long time American born m v P. Yes, Wow, Yes,
(45:18):
I hope so, because honest, Luca next year, s g A,
maybe this year, next year, and then of course the
big guy in Denver. I mean those guys it's last
five or six years.
Speaker 3 (45:29):
I mean, there's really only at this point, there's really
only three options, if you're being honest, there's really only
Anthony Edwards, is Ky cunning and Jason Tatum Ray.
Speaker 5 (45:38):
I'm telling you who would be. He's going to be
the face of the n B A he is gonna
be the face of the NBA.
Speaker 8 (45:44):
They're working on it.
Speaker 5 (45:46):
He will be because he's got everything. He's got it all.
He's got the personality, he's got the in your face. Look,
he's gonna have the buffs on. By the way, how
about the buff zone for the the courtyard zone. Everyone
wears buffs.
Speaker 4 (46:01):
I never thought would ask you that question.
Speaker 12 (46:05):
Everybody would know what buffs are. You would ask you
two thousand and five world would know a bus.
Speaker 5 (46:10):
Man when he got drafted, he put those buffs on.
Speaker 2 (46:13):
U of M games they.
Speaker 4 (46:14):
Do sign I'm not a sign.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
I'm a fan, but I'm also not a fan saying
I like it because it's Detroit and it's inviting people
to our coaching. But I don't because it's like everybody
is just misused it you look so when I well know,
it's not that, it's the appropriation. Like when I went
to the draft, like Gretchen, like Big Gret' was back there.
They was like big gretch, make sure you put on
the buffs. It's like if our governor is wearing.
Speaker 5 (46:41):
Them, I'm not walking up here with the buff so
so I think I also covered her face the other
day in front of the White She's we got that that.
Speaker 4 (46:48):
I think it's an interesting what were you talking about?
Speaker 5 (46:53):
Is going to be the face of the n b A.
It's going to be an m.
Speaker 8 (46:56):
V piting my lip on that last conversation.
Speaker 4 (46:58):
So hard right now about what the buffs.
Speaker 8 (47:01):
Big wretch wretch Sorry.
Speaker 4 (47:04):
Yeah, okay, subscribe it.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
But let MVP man like it is to go back
to the same thing with the Detroit Pistons.
Speaker 4 (47:13):
And the league. Is it like, oh you know how
they feel about the Pistons, or is it if he
earns it, he earns it, earns it, he gives it
to him.
Speaker 8 (47:19):
Well, the Pisons have never had a dominating superstar outside
of grand Hill who never quite got there. The teams
of injuries, yes, and then of course Isaiah which you
know in the league at the time, how deep that
team was, it would have been hard for him to
win an MVP. But Kate Cunningham has the look. I'm
looking at this Slam magazine beautiful green pause.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
Yeah, I mean, look at this guy.
Speaker 8 (47:48):
This guy has the look he does Okay, he's got
the mentality, he's got the two way game. I mean,
he can throw down, he's fun to watch, he's got everything.
Speaker 5 (47:58):
I didn't take it.
Speaker 8 (48:00):
Pass MVP, first American born in many years. You taking
it to the face of the NBA.
Speaker 5 (48:05):
Yeah, I can't.
Speaker 8 (48:07):
I can't dispute that right now because we're all waiting.
Speaker 5 (48:10):
Is it you know, is it Anthony uh?
Speaker 8 (48:13):
Is it?
Speaker 5 (48:14):
Is it him? Is it Tatum?
Speaker 8 (48:16):
Honestly, all the guys have kind of shied away from it.
You know, you can win a couple of playoffs.
Speaker 4 (48:21):
Here's why.
Speaker 3 (48:22):
And I don't think listen, I think yes, MVP. I
think he has a shot to win one for sure.
Like I'm gonna say that one thousand percent. Face is
different because face isn't about, you know, Paul, how good
you look. The face isn't about how good you are
on the court. Like every face that's ever been the
face of the league. You gotta do everything that the
league ass You gotta do the commercials, you gotta do
(48:42):
the market, you gotta meet with the people, you gotta
be on the boards.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
You got now you have to change.
Speaker 3 (48:46):
Now, you have to be in front of the camera
lot now you have to speak on issues because you're
the face. So when injustices go out. Who do they
bring out there? Lebron, Chris, Paul Carmelo.
Speaker 4 (48:55):
They bring the faces out like that is what you have.
Speaker 3 (48:58):
Kaid's a quiet guy. Kaids are keep himself guy. Like
I've talked to Kate on three occasions, two right here
in Birmingham and won in any event.
Speaker 4 (49:07):
Ka's chill, he's quiet, he's hoodie up, he's hey, how
you doing? You know what's going on?
Speaker 9 (49:12):
All right?
Speaker 3 (49:12):
Bet can he get out of that to be a
face of the league. Magic is a face of the league.
Look at what Magic is doing now. Michael Jordan is
a face to league. Look at Michael. He loves Horse
Raking being being out there. Bran Jordan, Lebron, we know
Lebron loves him some Lebron like these are.
Speaker 4 (49:29):
These are Shaq.
Speaker 3 (49:31):
Shaq was a face of the league. Look at Shaq.
Shaq's out there. Shaq's still on the team. Kobe won
an Oscar. You can say what you want to he
want to face league.
Speaker 5 (49:38):
He was.
Speaker 3 (49:39):
Kobe won an Oscar. When he was done, Kobe was
starting to work with the w n b A.
Speaker 4 (49:42):
These are things that faces do. Doctor j was a face.
Speaker 5 (49:46):
I bet you Kobe would have been the commissioner of
the WNBA.
Speaker 4 (49:49):
He would have got it in shape one hundred percent.
That's where he wanted to because you know why, his
baby girl rest in peace. She was going to be
a killer.
Speaker 8 (49:56):
Yeah, you've got a lot of great points there. Mask
to skipped me right past my MVP conversation.
Speaker 5 (50:02):
I know he did, and I've been saying it and
I like it.
Speaker 8 (50:05):
But did you get a chance to see him on
TNT last year?
Speaker 4 (50:08):
I did strong, he did strong press surprise me.
Speaker 8 (50:11):
I will admit, yes, I was too, And it's good
to see him come out of that show. Listen, this
kid wins the first round series against the next and
the NBA is going to start putting him up.
Speaker 4 (50:19):
You're right about that, You're right about that. Sure, that's
g He's a better look than the other two. Though.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
He's a better look than Anthony Edwards. And I'm not
trying to compare pause, pause, black Man and black Man,
but I think he's a better look for the NBA.
And Jason Tatum. Jason Tatum, is he wants you to
give it to him.
Speaker 4 (50:37):
Yeah, he wants you to. He wants to pause.
Speaker 3 (50:39):
Jason Tatum wants you to crown him the face of
the league. He wants you to tell him, Hey, I'm hey, Jason,
you're the guy. You're the man. That's not what the
face is. The face is an individual to what you
guys are saying. It doesn't want it.
Speaker 8 (50:54):
It's like Isaiah, you know, I want it. But Joe
Dumars wins the MVP of the eighty nine.
Speaker 4 (51:00):
Five second one.
Speaker 5 (51:01):
You know he won the first one. I won the
second one.
Speaker 8 (51:04):
Yes, So it's it's kind of that same type of deal.
Speaker 4 (51:06):
I mean, steps the face Oh yeah, oh yes.
Speaker 8 (51:09):
But the same blow to bring it back to a
whole bunch of pausing. Tell me one face of any
league that wasn't a super handsome man.
Speaker 4 (51:19):
Uh no, comment.
Speaker 5 (51:22):
Larry bird Common, Larry Birden.
Speaker 8 (51:24):
But we know why he was the face of the league.
Speaker 5 (51:27):
Yeah, because he was an assassin.
Speaker 4 (51:28):
Because he was great. Yeah, yeah, he was because he
was great. Go ahead.
Speaker 7 (51:33):
I was gonna say, when when you guys are done
with NBA, I think I've come up with a good
name for the courtyard.
Speaker 4 (51:38):
Are done? I think we have the clips our NBA conversation.
Speaker 6 (51:40):
Actually, oh no, no, I mean the Plaza.
Speaker 8 (51:42):
I'm sorry, I got one last thing I want to
talk about something. Oh yeah, we're gonna get there. But
the Jannison and Michael Beasley thing, when he blocked Beasley's
final attempt there in the second to last game, and he.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
This little thing.
Speaker 8 (51:56):
Yah is one of the nicest guys in sports, right,
He's very mis understood. He's kind of a loner. And
I'm sure that when Beasley was there, those two got
along really really well. And Beasley's kind of attitude, you
would have expected him to laugh that off. That's not
what we saw. That got me so excited because this
team is so serious and so focused on not just
(52:19):
being the sixth seed. They wanted that five seed, you.
Speaker 5 (52:22):
Know, off you said, Michael's Malik Malik.
Speaker 8 (52:25):
I call Michael Basy very different men, very different men.
But yeah, Malik Beasley, that reaction and him not allowing
Giannis to to kind of laugh it off with him,
and Yannis followed him all the way to the bench.
That right there told me these Detroit Pistons are ready
for these playoffs.
Speaker 3 (52:39):
And Michael Beasley was cold on Kansas date. Also to
Michael Malik Beasley his three games prior to that game
ten eleven and eleven, so he was pissed off to
how he was playing as a player. But to your point,
there is a lot of that dere.
Speaker 5 (52:53):
They didn't want to get swept by Milwaukee, which they did.
Speaker 4 (52:57):
Dunks.
Speaker 5 (52:58):
Even in the last game they played, they wanted to
win that game.
Speaker 8 (53:01):
They were down twenty something and came back with the.
Speaker 3 (53:04):
Scrubs twenty one in the second to last game on
the eleventh, and then he had twenty three and nineteen
minutes and eight or fourteen shooting on Sunday, So.
Speaker 5 (53:12):
He definitely he was cooking.
Speaker 3 (53:13):
He was he was, which at the end of it,
that's what you want going into the playoffs. You want
players to be in rhythm. You want to mind, the attitude,
the confidence, everything to be right. Let's take a quick
commercial break. I'll tell you a little bit about you.
Speaker 7 (53:24):
Real quick, can I can I throw in real quick
with just real quick? You know you're talking about the
word gash. How about the gas station. Oh we're gonna,
we're gonna go, We're gonna work on it all right,
I just started.

Welcome back into Well almost the second hourly show. We
got about one minute cooking a little bit with my
man answer, wells.
Speaker 5 (57:27):
Over here, lot Anson cook.
Speaker 4 (57:29):
We are about to let Anson cook in his segment answer.
I'll let him say it. But before that, I got
a question.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
I was chilling yesterday and I was checking out Daredevil
on Disney, not as much of a fan as I
was on Netflix. I'm not gonna lie on my own
spoiler for anybody, but Disney just has a way of
muncking things up.
Speaker 4 (57:49):
Just has star wars about that. But I saw a
cartoon from like my childhood that gave me great, great,
great great memories.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Do any of you guys have a car tune that
you connected with when you were younger. I'll go first,
of course, Doug Funny, Doug Funny, bir Doug Doug name
of the show, Doug Funny was my guy, like twelve
years old, ninety six, Doug this year, he's twelve thirteen.
Speaker 4 (58:14):
I'm thirteen at the time, and I was awkward. Wasn't
this tall? I mean I was athletic, but awkward was
a leader.
Speaker 8 (58:20):
But you know, good to know you were awkward at
one point, still.
Speaker 4 (58:23):
Awkward to a little bit. But anyway, I was shorter
the whole nine yards, But I.
Speaker 6 (58:28):
Was Did you wear the same outfit every day? You
show you were the same outfit every day?
Speaker 3 (58:32):
Nah, I wasn't wearing a green vest with the white
shirt and the khaki shorts. But I was an artist
a little bit. Drew a little bit when I was
bored or I spaced out. You know, I had a
dog had it was it fit me and it was
like anything like that. Oh you don't she shy around
girls like I was around girls before I got the Michigan.
Speaker 8 (58:52):
See you're going real deep on it, and I don't
know if there was one that I really identified with
the main character.
Speaker 4 (59:01):
Was there any cartoons?
Speaker 8 (59:02):
It's all about g I Joe though bro Ray sitting
home to watch knowing I was gonna lead with that.
I appreciate, you.
Speaker 3 (59:10):
Know, half the battle man, Go Joe, Joe.
Speaker 12 (59:14):
It's funny you say that because like a couple of
months ago, I got my daughter into loving Rocket Power.
Speaker 4 (59:19):
That was one cartoon I love. For like two months ago.
Speaker 12 (59:23):
She would be like, Daddy, we watched Rock Card before
we go to sleep, and she didn't know, like I
was so happy.
Speaker 6 (59:27):
I'm like, yeah, I guess so, but I'm like, yes,
we can watch Rocket Power before you go to sleep.
Speaker 4 (59:32):
That was when I love me. Rocket Power is a classic.
Graphics are too good. I tried to watch Ring.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
I tried to watch like Doug with Rings, like where's Pixar,
Where's Where's in Conto?
Speaker 5 (59:44):
Like, ma, you know I can just go on and
on and on. Give you to a whole show, Give
me three. I give you the road Runner and Wire
you I.
Speaker 4 (59:55):
Loved, of course, but you ain't that fast.
Speaker 5 (59:59):
Run. I'm sorry for him because the road Run I
always always got him. Man, I wanted one for him
to win once. We all once.
Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
You know what so great about the road Running and
Wiley Coyotes because we always runned Wiley Coyote win.
Speaker 4 (01:00:12):
He's trying to kill Runner. He's trying to eat him
if he ever caught them, be no ship.
Speaker 12 (01:00:19):
All those cartoons back, they were like the most violent cartoons.
Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
They Oh man, they talk about like drinking and smoking,
like speeding, speedy guns out.
Speaker 5 (01:00:30):
His cousin was a drunk smoke he.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
Was.
Speaker 4 (01:00:39):
Don't even talk about him anymore. He no longer exists.
He raised him out the Lonely.
Speaker 5 (01:00:44):
I love still to this day. I own the whole
set of it. It's Spider Man from sixty eight the cartoons.
Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
Yeah, the cartoon, now you cook it.
Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
It was the amazing spider Yes, way ahead of its time. Wait,
I can still sing the whole song to you. I won't,
but I can sing the whole song. I got the song,
and I got super Friends and Scooby Doo. I still
watch Scooby Doo. I still watch it. Listen for I.
Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
Can't help it.
Speaker 7 (01:01:11):
Pete, Oh boy, you ready, I love Scooby Doo. Okay,
I'm going to back off the mic. Here he comes
to say that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:20):
Mighty I was actually pretty good.
Speaker 6 (01:01:24):
That was That was miney mouse.
Speaker 5 (01:01:26):
Dog for.
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
You know, it's finning mass. I couldn't figure out. That's
why I shut up And I was like either And
he kept going on figuring that was good. And they
used to have his I used to have his little
his action figure, a little he had like the puffed
out chest, like the flying.
Speaker 8 (01:01:42):
I love these answers, Jack, but I need some more answers.
I need some more answers.
Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
My friend, sir, take it away here.
Speaker 5 (01:01:53):
What's up, Laila?
Speaker 8 (01:01:54):
What's gentlemen and ladies and anybody else out there. You
guys know, once a week you're gonna get the segment
Anson needs answers, And this.
Speaker 5 (01:02:05):
Week we're doing something a little different. We're going way
back in time. I know we did some time traveling last.
Speaker 8 (01:02:09):
Week, but we're going way back in time to the
ancient times.
Speaker 5 (01:02:12):
We're going to Rome and we're going to.
Speaker 8 (01:02:14):
The coliseum, and each of these gentlemen here and you
guys at home, I'd love to hear.
Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
It in the chat. I want to know.
Speaker 8 (01:02:23):
It's a five man battle, royal to the death. That's right,
you're the fifth man. You get one guy from each
of the four major sports, and the first one gentleman
that you list, that's the captain of your team. I'm
gonna go last. I'm gonna move it to my left
and let Ricky leader.
Speaker 12 (01:02:43):
All right, So as soon as you sent this, I
knew exactly who I'll have with my captain.
Speaker 6 (01:02:48):
I gotta go with the great Ray Lewis.
Speaker 12 (01:02:50):
That's gonna be my captain on my team for basketball.
I needed some iuse thinking like who is who? I
need somebody crazy on my team. You are not necessarily
the best fighter. I don't think people will ever want
to be against him in the coliseum. That's Dennis Robman.
I'm going Dennis Robins.
Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
Hockey.
Speaker 6 (01:03:07):
I gotta take my God, d Man, I need that.
Speaker 2 (01:03:10):
I need that vein in this.
Speaker 6 (01:03:11):
What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (01:03:11):
He had that vein in his.
Speaker 12 (01:03:14):
Need that, and then I was stuck into the baseball.
On baseball, I got to I got to one is historic.
One is the player now either Nolan Ryan or Jose
Rodriguez because of what he did to Anderson last year.
Speaker 4 (01:03:27):
So stuck between.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Anson gave direct instructions when he started, you get one
from each sport and include yourself than five.
Speaker 6 (01:03:39):
That was for well, I said, all right, so.
Speaker 5 (01:03:44):
That's that's for it.
Speaker 6 (01:03:45):
It was it was two for one sport.
Speaker 5 (01:03:48):
Make a choice.
Speaker 4 (01:03:50):
He skipped the sport. He skipped the sport.
Speaker 5 (01:03:53):
He got hockey.
Speaker 6 (01:03:54):
I got football, basketball, hockey and baseball.
Speaker 4 (01:03:58):
There you we're good.
Speaker 8 (01:03:59):
My with your captain, ray Lewis.
Speaker 4 (01:04:07):
How about you?
Speaker 5 (01:04:10):
Well, I completely botched it up, but I could think
on the fly, really because I would have had Mike
Tyson as my lead. Well, we don't want Mike on
the squad. Mike Tyson would have been my lead. But
you said the Four Sports. Yes, sir, So my lead's
gonna be Gordie Howe is going in. I'm gonna follow
mister hockey in for my football, I'm gonna go to
(01:04:31):
a guy that hated everyone and basically ended Frank Gifford's career,
and that's Chuck Bednarik from the Philadelphia Eagles. Not only
did he knocked Frank out, he stood on top of
him like this with his hands on his hips, and
the picture is you can't ever forget that picture. Now,
(01:04:51):
Ricky took my guy, Nolan Ryan. So I'm not gonna
say Nolan Ryan. I'm gonna go to Albert Bell. Albert
Bell the Cleveland and I'll never forget him slot trying
to slide in to break up a double play. Instead
of sliding in, he just went in like this and
knocked I forgot the short stop out, knocked him into
(01:05:13):
the outfield, yep, knocked him into the out He was
with the O's at that time, Right, Did I take
your guy? I didn't take your guy? Did I? Okay?
And in basketball I didn't have one, but I was
thinking of the Rudy Tom Johnovich fight. So I'll go
with Kermit with the cheap kermit washing a guy who
(01:05:35):
didn't give a damn about anybody. Gimme Kermit, that's my flour.
Got me way behind those guys.
Speaker 7 (01:05:42):
I could promise you Anson, I think it went down
the Maz route here. But if if you don't mind me, Maz,
I think I did more Maz than you on this list.
If you are not high, you are not my guy
on this list.
Speaker 6 (01:05:57):
We're gonna start with Lawrence Taylor. Lawrence Taylor, Sorry, I
love you, friend. Lawrence Taylor is gonna be.
Speaker 8 (01:06:08):
We're we're talking off the wagon, relapse, don't.
Speaker 6 (01:06:12):
Prime time, middle of the time time season.
Speaker 7 (01:06:15):
I'm feeling a thing following him, sticking sticking with the
motif here, Bob Proberts, let us stay here with those
who can't feel a thing. Bob Probert will also be
next to mister Lawrence Taylor following him. I'm going deeper
than mas on this one. You guys want to drunk,
I got a drunk who.
Speaker 6 (01:06:36):
Doesn't feel a thing. That's ty Cob. Give me Tykle,
the master of the bar fight.
Speaker 5 (01:06:42):
Up.
Speaker 7 (01:06:43):
This guy got more bar fights aside from Major League
Baseball fights than anybody in the history of the game.
Then on top of that, you want an ahole, I'm
gonna give you run our test, give me just cause
complete chaos.
Speaker 6 (01:06:55):
So there's my.
Speaker 9 (01:06:56):
Team with me.
Speaker 7 (01:06:58):
You got Lawrence Taylor, Bob Robert ty Cobb, run our
tast Braylan Edwards.
Speaker 13 (01:07:04):
I feel.
Speaker 8 (01:07:06):
Knows he's gonna beat all of your teams just from
his reactions up here.
Speaker 5 (01:07:09):
I'm looking forward to hearing you.
Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
You got well.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
I had to change it because I had ray Lewis,
I had Albert Bell. So then when I changed from
ray Lewis, I was all right cool, I said LT.
But then Madsen said, so I got excited, and then
Pete says I ol mas Maz. I said he picked
LT talking about being high. All right, so I can
(01:07:34):
I can rig it. We're still good. Albert Bell is
the only choice in baseball. By the way, Hey Albert Bell,
He's the only choice in baseball, so I won't choose him.
Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
Captain, give me d Mac. I want d Mac to
be my captain.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
I talk about my brother all the time, and a
double down d Mac is my captain.
Speaker 2 (01:07:55):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Captain d Mac will be joined by Ben Waller, another
Detroit speaking around come get it for the second time, uh,
Bo Jackson, Yes, sir, Bo Jackson will be on my
team as a baseball player. And since there's no Ray Lewis,
that's fine. Since there's no l t, that's fine.
Speaker 4 (01:08:17):
I'll bring it to the new word give me again.
Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
So d Max, Ben Wallace, Albrebell, Aaron Donovan, and you, Hey, can.
Speaker 5 (01:08:30):
I change my basketball guy? I don't want my team.
Speaker 4 (01:08:33):
I knew you, said Maurice Lucas.
Speaker 8 (01:08:36):
Lucas, I'm going New York, Nick.
Speaker 5 (01:08:41):
Charles Og, I'm not going with him. I'm gonna go
with Wilt Chamberlain, the black Belt of give me Wilt Chamberlain.
That's a bad ass, right there.
Speaker 6 (01:08:52):
Girls, you win all right?
Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
So I got a shout out burn, strongest basketball player.
Speaker 8 (01:08:56):
I got a shout out burn. He's got a he's
got a pretty tough squad with bow, Aaron Hernandez, the
bad boy Bill Lamber, and of course our very own
D Mac. I love that one burn shout out. So listen,
my captain, there's no dispute. D Mac is leading us out.
(01:09:16):
I'm gonna I'm gonna copy yours.
Speaker 5 (01:09:18):
I'm not. I'm not leaving that.
Speaker 8 (01:09:19):
In fact, I thought all five of us would do that.
Now right after that, I would normally go for Wilt Chamberlain,
but because he's my answer for everything basketball, I'm gonna
take the actual black belt k Shaw, student of Bruce Lee.
Game of Death, Kareem Atjabbar.
Speaker 5 (01:09:38):
Put him in the yellow and black. That's my guy,
all right.
Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
They only recorded thirteen minutes in that movie with Bruce Lee.
Speaker 8 (01:09:45):
Look at he knows the stuff that reach though, man,
how are you gonna get past that?
Speaker 5 (01:09:48):
Reach me? Cato? Man?
Speaker 8 (01:09:57):
I had, I had a relapsed del te, But I'm
gonna get rid of him and just put Jack Lambert
up in his fourteenth Jack Lambert Harry Man seventeenth? Was
it something like that?
Speaker 5 (01:10:08):
Not many?
Speaker 8 (01:10:09):
But then we're gonna we're gonna switch gears here and
just a man that every time I watched him come
up to the plate, he scared me. Lad Guerrero Senior, No,
thank you. I want no part of that man. And
I'll be honest with you. I'm pretty sure that it's
gonna be me and Brace squad left. I'm sorry you
guys all got put out early. You guys are in
(01:10:30):
the lion pit. I think it was your squad of mine, Bud.
Speaker 4 (01:10:33):
Thinking I love though like, I'm on my squad, so
I like, really help you anna.
Speaker 5 (01:10:46):
His arms.
Speaker 8 (01:10:50):
You better watch it, man, I'm gonna I'm gonna defer
to d d Mac every single time. Now Dante one
five to one, shout out for the super Chat. He's
got Antoni o'brown, Big Poppy, Stu Grimson and Rashid Wallace,
the All Crazy Team Boom, and my captain is mister Ortez.
Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
David Ortiz. I you know I mess with.
Speaker 5 (01:11:16):
There real quick.
Speaker 8 (01:11:17):
Before we get into more of these in the chat,
I want to let you guys know next week I
will be in all five days and we're gonna do
something a little different. I know you guys enjoyed the
wheel for Braylen's Parlay Pistons package. Each day next week
I'm in all five I'm going to bring in a
cool item out of my own collection to give away
(01:11:40):
to the number. Well, actually, you know you're all gonna
get tickets. So the chats each day next week, make
sure you're doing them early and often, get yourself a
chance to win whatever I am bringing in each day.
But going through some of these, I know we got
quite a few that I saw. There's some Randy Johnson's
got has more confirmed kills on the diamond than anybody
(01:12:00):
else that we do know. This is true.
Speaker 3 (01:12:02):
This is true, Charles three and four, Charles Barkley would
have been a nice choice too for basketball.
Speaker 8 (01:12:07):
Is he talking about Charles Barkley?
Speaker 5 (01:12:10):
He's about because beyond.
Speaker 4 (01:12:13):
Hey Barkley slam Shack. I'm just saying, how do you.
Speaker 5 (01:12:15):
Get beyond it?
Speaker 8 (01:12:16):
Like Shack Oak, Uh, Ben Wallace, Kareem and and Will
those five guys.
Speaker 5 (01:12:24):
Honestly though, Will, it's a couple you.
Speaker 4 (01:12:26):
Can sneak in there, like the Davis brothers.
Speaker 3 (01:12:28):
Like like the Davis Brothers were Anthony Mason, there is
another Larry, Larry Johnson.
Speaker 5 (01:12:35):
And even Kurt Thomas.
Speaker 8 (01:12:36):
I want no part of that.
Speaker 4 (01:12:38):
Kurt's funny. Kurt used to like hanging out. What's this fight?
Used to be around here?
Speaker 3 (01:12:42):
Blue Martine turned into Hamilton where we met. That's why
those are those are good times. Those are some good
time tim as way, what were you doing over there, buddy.
Speaker 5 (01:12:51):
I'm just looking at everyone's king, at the great late
Anthony Mason.
Speaker 8 (01:12:57):
You know, Kurt Thomas is the one that started my heckling.
Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
Correct you told me that this story I do know,
But excited for next week kind of sort of maybe
not just messing with you.
Speaker 4 (01:13:08):
It will be fun.
Speaker 8 (01:13:08):
It's a long time coming, my friend, it is.
Speaker 4 (01:13:10):
It is long time coming, you speaking.
Speaker 3 (01:13:12):
Another thing that was a long time coming for collegiate
athletes was money, the bread, the paper, the dollars.
Speaker 4 (01:13:19):
The bag as they call it. But now is that
participally getting in.
Speaker 3 (01:13:23):
The way of the morality of the thing? Insert University
of Tennessee. Where has the nil ruined college sports since
the quarterback? If you're not familiar, Nico, I am as.
Speaker 4 (01:13:38):
I am, alite, I am, I am. That's what it is,
all right, what Pete said? He decided, well, he's I
am a lever. Now he's leaving that mas.
Speaker 1 (01:13:52):
That was.
Speaker 4 (01:13:53):
That was damn good.
Speaker 3 (01:13:55):
Well, the night of the spring game, night before, he
decided that, you know what, I need some bread.
Speaker 4 (01:14:01):
I need some bread.
Speaker 3 (01:14:02):
Now before I go on this situation answering, I'll tell it,
I'll let you go. Basically, he told Tennessee that, hey, look,
you have until game time to match, excuse not match,
add two million dollars to my profile.
Speaker 4 (01:14:15):
He was making two point one.
Speaker 3 (01:14:16):
Why, like I said, I'll go last, he asked for
two million more and Josh Haipel did something that I
actually respect. Appreciate your services. You don't let the door
hit you. Good lord split you.
Speaker 14 (01:14:31):
Here he is in a second, So i'll address it
on the on the front end. Today's landscape of college football,
it's different than what it has been, and you know,
it's unfortunate, you know, just the situation and where we're
at with with Nico. I want to thank him for
everything that he's done since he's gotten here. You know,
(01:14:53):
that's as a recruit, to who he was as a
player and how he competed inside of the building, and
so a great appreciation for that side of it. Obviously,
we're moving forward as a program without him. You know,
I said it to the guys today, there's no one
that's that's bigger than the power team and that includes me,
(01:15:16):
and they hear me say that a lot inside of
that team room. This program has been around for a
long time with a lot of great coaches, a lot
of great players that came before that laid the cornerstone
pieces the legacy, the tradition that is Tennessee football.
Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
It's going to be.
Speaker 14 (01:15:31):
Around a long time after I'm done and after they're gone.
And that's what's you know, special about being here is
that there is a legacy in the tradition that is
so rich and a logo that's recognized not just across
the nation, but across the world too. And today you
got a chance to see, you know, one hundred and
(01:15:52):
ten guys that ran out and competed their butts off,
that give their all for Tennessee and do it the
right way and really proud of the spring that they've had,
but also you know how they culminated as well. So
decided about you know where we're at.
Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
At this point.
Speaker 5 (01:16:11):
That's Tennessee head coach Josh Hipel. He's talking about his quarterback,
who's not his quarterback anymore. Looks like these guys. The
quarterback and a couple of other players on Tennessee tried
to pull this power play last year doing the playoff,
and the way they put it was the money you
guys offered us for nil was for the regular season,
(01:16:31):
but we want to get paid for the extra games.
And I'm gonna go to Brailet on this because when
an NFL player goes to the playoffs and you get
a playoff share, you get paid for the playoffs. You
get paid for extra games. So these guys, their agents,
of course, told them, hey, guys, let's try to get
you some money for all these extra games. NCAA is
(01:16:52):
making a killing on these extra games. The Big ten's
making a killing, the SEC, Big twelve, Notre Dame. They're
all getting paid. Why shouldn't we get paid? So they
tried to pull this last year during the playoff or
early in January, and here it is bring football and
they're pulling it again. And Tennessee had enough of this guy,
(01:17:14):
and he's gonna go somewhere. And the rumor is it's
gonna be North Carolina with Bill Belichick. Bill Belichick building
himself a school there at Chapel Hill. So I go
to you, Bray, you were a college football player, put
yourself in these kids' shoes. Now, would you be okay
doing what this kid pulled?
Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
Ahem? Excuse me.
Speaker 3 (01:17:39):
I can't speak on that because I don't know what
my morale compass would be in this situation. What I
can't tell you is, let's start here. This is not
his full this is not his fuck, This is not
nico Ia Maliava. It's not his fuck. It is the
fault of the DNC double A. I will turn it
back on them. I will comment on him in this second,
(01:18:00):
but I'm gonna turn it on him. It's the NC
double A as far because there's no structure, there's no rules,
there's no collective.
Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
The SEC police is the SEC. The Big Ten Police
is the Big Ten. You're not even on the same wavelength.
The NC Double a's job is to create rules and
regulations that are in place so you don't have situations.
Speaker 3 (01:18:22):
Like quarterbacks being able to say, you know what, I'm
sitting out the night of the spring game. Quarterbacks being
able to say, hey, you know what, we got paid
for the regular season. This is something new. We're helping them.
Speaker 4 (01:18:33):
Get a national championship we want. There's no rules in
place NC double A.
Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
In the NFL, we make contract salary for the regular season,
the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (01:18:46):
Everybody makes the same amount of money.
Speaker 3 (01:18:48):
When I was in it, it was twenty thousand for
the first round, twenty five for the second round.
Speaker 4 (01:18:51):
It was thirty thousand and forty if you got.
Speaker 3 (01:18:53):
To the AMC Championship, NFC Championship, and seventy five if
you want the whole damn thing. There's no rules in
place for them, so they don't know what they can
and cannot do. There's no examples being set. Now, getting
back to him, I wouldn't have him on my team
if I was UCLA or UNC. He's not that good.
Speaker 4 (01:19:09):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:19:10):
He threw four hundred and four yards against Ohio State,
get you want to get paid for that performance? When
he played Georgia no touchdowns, Florida the same, Alabama the same.
So as it relates for the kid, I wouldn't take
him on my team. But it's not his problem. It's
the n C Double A problem. There's no collective so
you don't have rules. You don't have rules and regulations,
so this wouldn't even been a thing. He would be
(01:19:31):
the quarterback making two million dollars at Tennessee if there
was rules and regulations in place. So I'm not telling
you this quarterback what he did is cool. It's something
that I would do because I would and I wasn't
raised like that. But the fact that he's doing him
and his father, it's about the NC DOUBLEA not having
rules and regulations in place that you have to follow.
Stauaywad West. Nobody knows anything. And if you're like, well,
(01:19:55):
if there's.
Speaker 4 (01:19:55):
Not a precedent for this. Why can't I.
Speaker 3 (01:19:58):
Get an extra million for the Why can't I get
an extra two million?
Speaker 4 (01:20:01):
Foot? So I don't mind that part on them. It's
the NC double A. They have the bed.
Speaker 5 (01:20:07):
For lack of a better word, Michigan is are twelve
twelve on the chat said his dad is his agent.
He also said you and see his kind of said
don't thank you. So we'll see how that rolls. But answering.
Speaker 4 (01:20:21):
Not to cut you off.
Speaker 3 (01:20:22):
Answering man, just thinking about that, And I'm not mad
at the dad either.
Speaker 4 (01:20:25):
Think about it like this. If I see that, my son's.
Speaker 5 (01:20:29):
Just okay, Yeah, he ain't gonna be in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
He's not gonna make it. If I'm Dad and I'm
seeing it, I'm being honest. I'm not saying he won't.
He still has a couple of years. But let's just
say this is what Dad is saying. Two million Now
I see him. He may not even make it. You
see how they're talking about Sanders. My son ain't better
than Shor Sanders, right, my son ain't better than him?
So why not milk this thing for all the money
I can get? Once again, me and my father wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (01:20:51):
Do it, but I understand it because there are no.
Speaker 5 (01:20:53):
Rules, no rules.
Speaker 8 (01:20:55):
You started this topic off with a word, the morality
of it. College sports. They have been morally absent for decades,
decades upon decades exploiting these kids, you know, backdoor deals
and all the stuff that went on that forced nil
(01:21:19):
to happen. And thank goodness, because these kids are making
so much money for these universities, they should get paid.
But the NCAA created this problem. When you change something
that is generations old, you better do your due diligence
and cross every damn I or every T and die
every damn I that you can. Because you know, there
(01:21:41):
was a kid last year. I forget where he went.
He left the SEC, went back to Iowa where he
was from, got eight hundred thousand dollars to do it,
and then transferred back without playing a game, without even
going to practice. Why is that within the rules sets? Now,
this kid that we're talking about right here, I am
a leaving. Does he get those two million? He does, right, yeah,
(01:22:02):
and then he leaves. So at this point, maybe he
didn't like his opportunity for playing time this year. Maybe
he gets his two million presses his luck. Maybe I'll
get two more, but if I don't, I'm gonna leave,
and somebody else is gonna pay me more money to
come here, and I might get more playing time. So
the morality of the students, it's only been a few
(01:22:25):
years or them pushing back off of the terrible morality
of the NCUBA for as long as I was alive,
and well before that. This is the NCAA's problem. They
created it for generations. They're trying to fix it overnight,
and they've done nothing but just bash a big wasp ness.
So they have a lot of work to do, and
I love seeing the kids take advantage of it.
Speaker 3 (01:22:46):
For now, I'm glad you bought it. I'm glad you
bought it up saying they're trying to do it overnight.
And that's my biggest problem as with the nc DOUBLEA,
because guess what they knew ten years ago, not ten
years ago, ten years from when they signed in Il,
which is twenty twenty one. They knew it was coming,
but they told me to do nothing about the rulings
that already happened. You saw what happened with the old
Bannon case. You knew it was coming, that's all You
(01:23:06):
knew what was coming, started it.
Speaker 4 (01:23:07):
But you know what happened. You were like, Nah, they've
always been on our side, La Ucla. We drafted his brother.
You saw it coming.
Speaker 3 (01:23:16):
You didn't make prep And when you don't prepare, when
you don't prepare when it comes, you're not ready.
Speaker 5 (01:23:20):
Here we are and look at Quentin yours. You're talking
about guys one million. He took a million from Ohio State.
Never played it down there.
Speaker 4 (01:23:27):
Guess what.
Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
And that's the other thing. They didn't miss it. Oh,
that's the other thing. That's what they ain't miss it.
Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
No doubt.
Speaker 8 (01:23:34):
And I don't know if it was Woodward that put
it up. And I saw something on Twitter that they're
basically saying, in order to compete and win a national
championship next year, you have a minimum of ten million
dollars in anil that you have to put out to
compete on that stage.
Speaker 4 (01:23:47):
Oh I saw it. It's like the starters. It's like
the start of two million for the quarterbacks, two million
for the wire receiver.
Speaker 8 (01:23:53):
This was basketball, excuse, but that think about that. That's
twelve guys. That's almost a million dollars a man. So
on football, it must be even a lot larger.
Speaker 3 (01:24:03):
Well, shoot, you got fourteen or thirteen wrapped up in
one player, man, so he better start this year. That's
another thing, like I don't want to get this song
and dance. You know Michigan, you know, Michigan loves to
play that game and and shut After my my mom
and dad were talking about this, he was like, man,
every year, Michigan, is it this guy? Is it that
this came from my mom? Is it this guy or
(01:24:24):
that guy?
Speaker 4 (01:24:25):
Michigan?
Speaker 3 (01:24:26):
You paid Bryce underwood King's ransom rightfully? So he's no
one player under these new rules.
Speaker 2 (01:24:31):
Shut them.
Speaker 4 (01:24:31):
I love it.
Speaker 5 (01:24:32):
Shut them.
Speaker 3 (01:24:33):
Please start this man, set him, please, please get him
going to Jaydon Davis.
Speaker 7 (01:24:39):
Shut that down.
Speaker 5 (01:24:40):
Please shut that man.
Speaker 4 (01:24:42):
I think your quarterback is gonna better.
Speaker 5 (01:24:43):
Who beat Ohio State? By the way, what quarterback type?
Speaker 4 (01:24:47):
Warren?
Speaker 5 (01:24:49):
Who beat you?
Speaker 4 (01:24:50):
Almost can't think of his name war That's why I
said Warren.
Speaker 5 (01:24:53):
But I was like, here, tight end.
Speaker 4 (01:24:58):
State, all right, man, let's do this all right? Won't
get back on track?
Speaker 5 (01:25:02):
Yeah, we'll take a quick break.
Speaker 4 (01:25:03):
Come on back, Mark White and we'll come on back.
Speaker 5 (01:25:05):
You all right, guys, you know what, dreaming of a
new home but feeling the financial pinch. Mark White and Associates,
Your trusted real estate experts are here to help. Mark

Speaker 5 (01:28:59):
With mad all right, guys, nine days, nine days nice
the NFL Draft live from Green Bays, Lambbowfield parking lot,
a parking lot at lambeau Field. Can't wait, man, and
I can't believe it's been a year already for us
here in Detroit, almost a year. It would have been
(01:29:19):
next week, would have been a year. Actually it is
next week, so that's what I mean. It'll be a year, man.
A million people almost in downtown in Detroit. That was
fun as anything. So the Lions right now on the
clock they have let's see how many picks the Lions
after they have pick number twenty eight sixty one oh two,
(01:29:40):
one thirty one, ninety six, two twenty eight, and two
forty four. So they've got themselves seven draft picks. You know,
it's a favorite day, of course for Brad Holmes and company.
So that takes us to one of the guys that
is in this draft. He'll be in the green room,
one of the first names to be called travel from Colorado.
(01:30:02):
A super kid that could play corner, wide, receiver, pretty
much any position you want except offensive and defensive line.
He says he'd rather not play football than play for
a team that could tell him that he could only
play one position.
Speaker 3 (01:30:19):
Brailer, He's a special talent. You know, we've seen that
over the past two years at University of Colorado. He's
just he's extremely gifted as a release to speed, agility, athleticism.
Speaker 4 (01:30:32):
He's a sweet kid. He's a sweetheart. He's a good player,
like he's the guy that you wanted his team. That
as relates to his talent. Show Hay pitched and hit.
Speaker 2 (01:30:41):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:30:41):
I'm not saying he's as crazy as show hey, but
when have we ever seen the player with these skills?
And Charles Woodson is one of my friends and the
reason I went to Mischie Charles wasn't like Travis Hunter
in that regard. So I think you allow him to
play both. I think we're in an era of time
where he has the ability to play both. You put
him in situations and answering. Yesterday, Scott Bischall, he came
(01:31:05):
on the show and he was telling us most people
that he heard say they play him at dB, and
they say make maybe fifteen play package for him each game.
Speaker 4 (01:31:14):
I thought that was smart only issue I have.
Speaker 3 (01:31:18):
I know there's some guys in the leader to play
dB that're small and Mick Rominson, notably Travis Hunters. Now,
he just did not strike me as guy's tackling in
the NFL, Like, what is Travers Hunter do with some
of these running backs? The running back has become a
prominent position yet again it's getting bigger yet again.
Speaker 4 (01:31:35):
What is he doing with Saguan Barcle what's he.
Speaker 3 (01:31:38):
Doing with what is he doing with number five who
plays at Ford Field and Dave Montgomery? Like I thought
he would be a receiver and be some packages on
the defense. I think that's why we're playing. But where
are you on him playing both? I think you definitely
should have him play both positions. He's that talented. You
get a two for one when you draft him. You
(01:31:59):
draft him as a two one. He wants to play
two for one and has the skills. I remember back
in the day, they tried to make tag in a
wide receiver in a dB.
Speaker 9 (01:32:07):
He was not dead.
Speaker 4 (01:32:07):
He was a wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (01:32:09):
Devin Hester got drafted Chicago Bears trying to put him
a dB. Then they tried to put him in a
wide receiver. Here's a kick returner.
Speaker 4 (01:32:15):
This kid actually does both.
Speaker 8 (01:32:17):
This isn't Bubba Chandler coming up in the miners being
able to do both things pitch and hit, all right,
this is a situation where the guy is great at both.
Bubba Chandler, a lot of these other guys not show. Hey,
they said, listen, you can't do both.
Speaker 5 (01:32:33):
You have to do one.
Speaker 8 (01:32:35):
And that's it. When you look at what Travis has
been able to do, I just don't understand how you
can draft this kid as high as you have to
draft him and not utilize him on both sides of
the ball. To me, I think that I get deep
into the fantasy side of drafting offensive players. Some of
the guys I really follow like him as one of
(01:32:55):
the best wide receiving prospects in the last ten years.
As a corner, he's tremendous as well.
Speaker 5 (01:33:02):
I think you're doing.
Speaker 8 (01:33:02):
Yourself a disservice by bringing this kid in and saying
you can only do one thing, because not only are
you missing out on that other stuff that he can do,
those other skills, but you're going to frustrate him. This
is a guy that has given his whole career to
be great on both sides of the ball, and then
you add in the other you know, TMZ type of
(01:33:23):
uh I guess drama that he has going on with
in his life with his girlfriend or ex girlfriend. I
don't know where they're at right now. There's quite a
few things around this kid that could make him fail,
even though to me he's kind of the Black Bowers
of this draft, where he's just truly heads and tails,
the most skilled guy out there. But he's probably gonna
(01:33:44):
get drafted somewhere and he's only going to be able
to play one side of the ball. And I think
it's a crime. I think that in the future of
the NFL, I want to see more two way players.
Speaker 4 (01:33:51):
I'll only give you pushback on one thing. I don't
think he's one of the top ten wide receivers of
the pass.
Speaker 8 (01:33:55):
I know you've said that.
Speaker 4 (01:33:56):
Yeah, what I'm sitting now. You look at the class
last year.
Speaker 3 (01:33:58):
There are three guys that are head and show was
above him in the class last year, Marvin Harrison, League Neighbors,
and the BT JR. But to your point, you have
to play him at both because he's not good at
one position enough to deserve a number two or three
overall pick. If he was just a wide receiver, I
would not take him in the top I wouldn't take
him in the top twelve, which rounder like, Yes, he
(01:34:20):
would be somewhere around twenty for me, if I'm being one.
Speaker 5 (01:34:23):
Percent, was gonna take him? And if he's where would
he be best? What team would be best?
Speaker 4 (01:34:28):
Give me a second.
Speaker 3 (01:34:29):
If you just take him as a dB, I'm not
drafting him in the top four rounds at dB. So
you can bind those and he's worth the number.
Speaker 4 (01:34:37):
Three pick overall. If you just do one, you're not
gonna get your money's worth. Now, what fits him best?
Speaker 5 (01:34:43):
What team fits him best?
Speaker 4 (01:34:45):
And I think on the I think the Patriots, I
think four, I think the Pats Giants.
Speaker 3 (01:34:52):
You just don't know what they're gonna be. I would
never see anybody to Cleveland knowingly. With the Patriots, you
get Mike Rabel. Mike Rabel is a defensive I won't
say guru. People use that word too much.
Speaker 4 (01:35:02):
He's a savant. He was coached by a savant.
Speaker 3 (01:35:04):
He can make the best use of Travis Hunter on
the defensive side of the ball, put him in the
best situations to no hurt himself, to whatever have success.
And then on offense, you can learn from a guy
that Stefon Diggs. Say what you want to about Stefon
Diggs off the field or his mental and how he
doesn't like Josh Allen who doesn't like him. He is
a dynamic wide receiver who knows how to murn Rock's
(01:35:24):
body type like Travis Hunter once he gains a couple
of posies, So he would be the prototypical receiver to
help him achieve that greatness.
Speaker 5 (01:35:32):
So I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:35:33):
I like Verbel defensively, and I like to find Diggs
on the offensive side to help him out good.
Speaker 8 (01:35:38):
And as a former player, I think that Vrabel would
be more likely to use him on both sides of
the ball versus the guy that's never.
Speaker 4 (01:35:44):
Said he played on both sides of the ball. Think
about that. That's right, only in the red zone. But
he was eleven four levens with position. So I like that. People,
were you at that and get you in on this?
Speaker 6 (01:35:55):
You know I was doing some work, so yeah, so
I appreciate you.
Speaker 5 (01:36:00):
Alright, Let's move on down to a guy that well,
he wants back in on the NFL and for some
reason he has not signed yet. We're talking about Aaron Rodgers.
So Aaron Rodgers has spoken and he has said the
deal he gave, the idea he had to the Minnesota
Vikings was let me come in for one shot at
(01:36:21):
a championship and I will do my best to coach
up JJ McCarthy. But the Vikings up till now have
said no, thank you. They have not said jj' is
the guy yet. Spring ball's coming, you know what. Offseason
workouts a starting next week, so we're gonna find out
about it. So do you think there's a chance yet?
(01:36:44):
Then Aaron Rodgers winds up with the Purple people, leads.
Speaker 3 (01:36:48):
No, I'm a stand firm on what I've said in
the past. No, I would not bring Aaron Rodgers in
to blow up my organization, my franchise. Now, if Aaron
Rodgers operate at kind of how we operated the end
of last season and everything goes right the if game,
and then yeah, you can have success and it could work.
There could be something there. He's one of the best quarterbacks.
Speaker 4 (01:37:07):
Of all time.
Speaker 3 (01:37:08):
We saw him find a little bit of that rhythm
last year. This would be another year after two years
from the achilles injury. With that being said, it's just
not worth it for me. I think right now what
Aaron is doing, he's waiting to see who drafts who
in the draft. Dude, the Pittsburgh still is move up
and take a quarterback? You know, are some of the
options that looks. I think that's what he's weighing on.
What did the Raiders do?
Speaker 5 (01:37:28):
You know?
Speaker 4 (01:37:28):
These are things he's looking at. And then he likes
being the name.
Speaker 3 (01:37:31):
He likes being the story to continue past draft weekend
leading into Monday.
Speaker 4 (01:37:36):
So who's drafting? You saw what happened last year with
the Falcons.
Speaker 8 (01:37:40):
I think the mirror image of him going to the
Viking is the same way that Brett Favre did is
really what drives a lot of them. Brett went to
the Jets too, exactly exactly your image. My thing is is,
I've told you many times. JJ McCarthy's better than Caleb Williams,
the catfish, this guy that needs to be on the
fielt and I know that we've seen success with Aaron
(01:38:02):
Rodgers sitting and with Jordan Loves sitting. It's time for JJ.
And there's no reason to bring this guy in here
and hope that he's the mentor that you're signing him
to be, because he says that he'll be that.
Speaker 5 (01:38:14):
The guy's not even practicing right now.
Speaker 8 (01:38:16):
You know, if anything, he should be linked up with
some ride receivers, but we already know that he's not
going to do that.
Speaker 5 (01:38:21):
He's got his own off season programming. It happens down
in Peru. He was practicing with Metcalf last week.
Speaker 8 (01:38:27):
He did Yes, he did okay, Well, then hey where
he's growing a little bit. But for me, I would
put nothing in the way of JJ McCarthy's development period.
I think he's one of the best young quarterbacks that
came out last year. I'd put him at two, even
though bow Nixt looks like he's number two. Get JJ
the ball, and that's a Spartan.
Speaker 4 (01:38:45):
Saying, right, I think.
Speaker 3 (01:38:48):
I think the one thing that has played in this
situation in his favor is the fact that when Jordan
Love was asking, when Matt Lufleores was asked about Aaron Rodgers,
what we perceive to be the case was not the case.
Speaker 4 (01:39:00):
Rodgers wasn't like Brett Favre.
Speaker 3 (01:39:01):
To Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers was a much better representation
of a veteran quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:39:06):
He watched filming, he did the things.
Speaker 3 (01:39:08):
So there is that in there, and I think Minnesota
may know about that, so they'll like, hey, look, I
don't think they're pondering.
Speaker 4 (01:39:16):
But if they did a little bit of that is true.
He did help Jordan Love. You see where Jordan Love
was able to get to when he left.
Speaker 3 (01:39:22):
That doesn't happen if he's just sitting watching somebody that's
not talking, it's not working.
Speaker 4 (01:39:26):
He worked with him for four years. Jordan Love lit
it up first year.
Speaker 5 (01:39:30):
Towards the end, though, Pittsburgh is I really believe they
should take a quarterback. I'm not sure if the one
they want will be there when they pick at twenty one,
but they should be in the market for a quarterback.
They have Mason Rudolph right now. He's just a journeyman
backup quarterback. So if they sign a young kid and
(01:39:51):
Aaron Rodgers comes in for a year or two, I
think it's good. I think it's win win for Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (01:39:57):
Yeah, and I agree with you there. I think Aaron Rodgers,
I think Pittsburgh is the move, the Minnesota move. I
just think it's just gonna be interesting because.
Speaker 3 (01:40:04):
You're gonna have two personalities in DK Metcalf and George Pickens.
It's gonna be an interesting situation. The thing about the
quarterback position though, from these teams we were seeing and
we talked to Scott Bischoff about it. You get these
quarterbacks like Jackson Dark who you don't really believe in.
You're just trying to move them U because there's no
quarterbacks you door Sanders. Let's say you don't believe in
them and you're drafting them. The teams that are just
(01:40:24):
bad and behind the eight ball, that don't have a
chance to help at winning.
Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
That's the problem right now in the NFL. Who's the
Ohio State guy Will Johnson? No, no, no, no, Howard quarterback?
Speaker 5 (01:40:36):
Yeah it is Howard Will Howard. Well, he's moving off
the freaking charts and we know what he is.
Speaker 4 (01:40:42):
He's moving up and we know what he is.
Speaker 5 (01:40:44):
The Steelers could go and grab a guy like him, because,
let's right, face it, a few years ago they took
Kenny Pickett because they were desperate.
Speaker 3 (01:40:52):
True, but at what point if you're the Pittsburgh still
did you just say, like, look, like, I guess what
they have done? Stay on those girls, like you knew
Kenny Pickett wasn't the guy, right, you know, you know
the Jackson Darts not the guy.
Speaker 8 (01:41:04):
Like, at what point do you say, look, Jackson the
guys Jackson Dart's the guy.
Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
Jackson Dart is a guy that played almost like you
look at his big games against the big teams, did
you He runs the style of football where you just
get it in shotgun that don't work in the NFL.
Speaker 8 (01:41:21):
I think people are going to be surprised by him.
But I think it comes down to the franchise. The Jets,
their franchise isn't strong enough right now to handle an
Aaron Rodgers. I know the Steelers haven't won a championship
in a long time, but they're nineteen straight playoff burst
with one of the most grounded franchises in the NFL.
(01:41:43):
If there's anybody that can bring in personality like Aaron
Rodgers and make it work, it's Mike Tomlin and the
Steelers organizations.
Speaker 4 (01:41:50):
What type of team is New York as it relates
to what is their strength offensive? Defense?
Speaker 8 (01:41:54):
I would say defense.
Speaker 3 (01:41:55):
Okay, what type of strength is the Pittsburgh Steelers defense?
How did New York just work out for Aaron Rodgers?
Speaker 8 (01:42:01):
But the Jets, I just don't see there there. I
don't see Woody in the rest of him.
Speaker 5 (01:42:07):
They just don't understand.
Speaker 3 (01:42:09):
I'm not talking about the front office. I'm talking about
on the field. Like defense is the identity? Defense is
the coach defense? Saying with the Jets, saying with the Stellers,
Aaron Rodgers comes from Green Bay.
Speaker 4 (01:42:19):
Everything is offense. Everything is predicated on the successive offense.
Speaker 3 (01:42:23):
There's what was his coordinator, a hack Now the Hackett
the coordinator, there's Matt la Flora's there was, uh not
Mike Holmgren, but McCarthy offensive system.
Speaker 4 (01:42:33):
He had success. They catered to him. It's a defensive team, Like,
what is it?
Speaker 8 (01:42:38):
No, I get where you're on that, but I mean
there's I just don't think that there's a lot of
franchises right now that are strong enough to thrive with
an Aaron Rodgers personality.
Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
Ah, there you go.
Speaker 5 (01:42:49):
So what should he really do retire?
Speaker 2 (01:42:53):
No?
Speaker 8 (01:42:53):
I mean I like Aaron Rodgers story still in the league,
and I would like to see him get one more
chance with the team. Like everybody says, oh, you know
him with the Jets and they're they're an AFC finalist.
Speaker 5 (01:43:05):
Him with the Steelers.
Speaker 8 (01:43:06):
I can buy them being an AFC finalist.
Speaker 1 (01:43:08):
You know.
Speaker 8 (01:43:08):
I want to see him go to a team with
his last year, you know, final year of his career effort,
with a team that is insulated enough, that understands what
he's bringing to the table and cannot infight to the
to a nice playoff run.
Speaker 3 (01:43:24):
Speaking of in fighting, just watch the first time they
have a game and DK Metcalf goes over two hundred
and now George Piggins is.
Speaker 4 (01:43:33):
Damn you already made thirty five million dollars Andy throwing
the ball. I can't get the ball.
Speaker 5 (01:43:36):
Walk off the field unless they win to walk off. Hey,
I got a Jalen Ramsey story for you, But first

Back to the shoes. All right, two quick things before
we ride the show, or two quick things from me,
and then there's some other One. Detroit Red Wings win
in their final last night, sixty four over the Stars
means nothing, but hey, you know what, You're only as
good as your last game.
Speaker 3 (01:47:47):
And the Detroit Red Wings wins sixty four. Now we
start the off season and the Tom McCleland plans.
Speaker 4 (01:47:54):
So more on that later. Joe Dumars speaking of the Pistols,
that's all you're right down answer, and I was writing
it down At the same time.
Speaker 3 (01:48:02):
He becomes new president of basketball operations of the New
Orleans Pelican source to tell ESPN du Mars's president of
the Pistons twenty and fourteen Darko building the two thousand.
Speaker 4 (01:48:13):
And four d.
Speaker 3 (01:48:15):
Basketball team now returns home to Louisiana.
Speaker 4 (01:48:19):
It all start at in these states. So right, what
does that do for you? Zion Williamson? Answer, Zion state?
Speaker 5 (01:48:26):
Is he working around that trade of the Pistons.
Speaker 8 (01:48:30):
It's a really tough question. I did see that that
would That's really the number one issue is what do
you do with his high on He ain't.
Speaker 5 (01:48:37):
Playing that next year?
Speaker 4 (01:48:39):
I like that man.
Speaker 5 (01:48:40):
He will not play in New Orleans.
Speaker 4 (01:48:41):
Next year if he trades Zion to the Pistons. Sorry answering?
Is that a makeup?
Speaker 5 (01:48:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:48:47):
Is that a makeup?
Speaker 5 (01:48:48):
Want them? I don't want him.
Speaker 8 (01:48:50):
I mean, listen, I'll take him out of free agency.
But what you're going to have to give up to
get this guy who is going to play forty six
games for you?
Speaker 5 (01:48:58):
We'll give him a few second round picks.
Speaker 8 (01:49:00):
No, we'd have to give him two or three first
round picks and probably Jaden Ivy and I don't want that.
Speaker 5 (01:49:09):
And we got all kinds of good cooking. And my
thing was Zion.
Speaker 8 (01:49:16):
I love him as a player, but he's kind of
a side show at this point in his career.
Speaker 2 (01:49:23):
You know.
Speaker 8 (01:49:23):
I don't really feel like spending all off season wondering
where his weight is going to be and how how
engaged he's going to be. Uh, we've seen Joe Trade,
the captain and future Hall of Famer of this franchise,
and Chauncey billups so to me. I think that Joe's
going to come in and put his stamp on this
(01:49:44):
team right away, and I think that he understands at
a superstar who plays fifty sixty games for you, I'd
rather have the two or three first round picks and
get to build. I know a lot of people will
call into question Joe Dumar's draft record and much like
I mean, Jerry's still out on Round Holland. But we
(01:50:04):
know what Killian was, we know what Rodney White was.
Pretty much every single guy that came in here, their
first draft pick was not a good one. But this guy,
you look at his drafts and I know Austin Day
wasn't great, Carlos Delfino wasn't great. But if you look
at the twenty players drafted right around them, they were
just bad drafts. You look at Middleton and din Witty
out of the second round. Joe understands this game, He
(01:50:28):
understands the kids coming out of college. I think he
makes a big, bold move, and I think that the
fans in New Orleans are ready to move on.
Speaker 5 (01:50:38):
This isn't like you go in and you.
Speaker 8 (01:50:40):
Move a John Morant who also can't stay healthy, but
he is a fan favorite fans are frustrated with Zion,
and I think that there's no better time than to
bring in a three time former champion with a proven
track record like Joe Dumars, a son of New Orleans,
to come in and put his stamp on and start winning.
So God bless you, Joe. We love you, we miss you,
(01:51:01):
and I absolutely wish you all the best.
Speaker 3 (01:51:03):
Fair Enough, Pete, you won't be with us after today.
Tell us a little bit about what you got going on, man,

it'll be nine to one. But anyway, if you guys

I watched it last year when you were in a tournament.
It was funny to see you sitting around first and
then getting on uh to go on up there. I
hope you have many tilts.
Speaker 6 (01:52:09):
I appreciate man, well, you know the old singing pinball.
If you're not tilting, you.
Speaker 8 (01:52:13):
Trying to keep a pinball wizard over here.
Speaker 6 (01:52:16):

Can I take a moment to congratulate our very own
Justin Satawa and his Western broncos I mentioned it on Friday,
him and I got into it during Alliance postgame and
I told him, you guys haven't ever won anything. Well
that changed, and I'm really glad for it. What a
blessing it is to be a senior at a university
(01:53:01):
that wins the national championship. I had that honor in
two thousand when Michigan State won it. Unbelievable coverage from
Justin and I just want to congratulate him and his
Western broncos on that national championship.
Speaker 4 (01:53:15):

He was a hockey player.

Speaker 6 (01:53:26):
No, no, no.
Speaker 5 (01:53:27):
He be on the lookout for uh Western Michigan Championship
gear on sale for me.
Speaker 6 (01:53:32):
Oh yeah, you know that's a good call.
Speaker 7 (01:53:34):
Tommy and Wilson Wale And if you guys saw Justin
Satawa was a video on YouTube. I want to find
the place where the guy ripped out the mailbox. There
was a guy walking around with a mailbox the dayson.
Speaker 8 (01:53:45):
Carter you know who that was, right? A message in
one day because he went to State played in that thing.
I was like, man, I love your name. He's like
I love your name too.
Speaker 4 (01:53:54):
Man.
Speaker 5 (01:53:55):
That's good.
Speaker 4 (01:53:55):

I said a little green and white love. I'll let
you have that that look. We appreciate you guys for
