Their catch by Brailer Everts he Sucond Touchdown.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
To the game on the Woodwards Sports netw where sports
comes to life.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (01:04):
What a day? Huh? What a Thanksgiving celebration. I hope
you didn't let the Lions loss ruin your holiday celebration
with your family, your friends. I know it's stung for
a little bit. Our hope is here on the Brillan
Edwards Show as we dive into it, and we will
dive into plenty of it is that you enjoyed family
(01:24):
and friends first and foremost, and then a little bit
later on recognized we've got problems. Well, Wyons have serious problems.
So Braylan is here to talk about it. We've got
Justin in the booth. We've got Brendan in the booth.
Glad you guys are with us. Doctor Jeffrey Pierce will
join us a little bit later on. Gus Johnson is
scheduled to join us as well to talk to Michigan
(01:45):
Ohio State. We will do that as well. But how
was your celebration? And thanks, by the way for bringing
in some of the food that I thoroughly enjoyed earlier
today for lunch.
Speaker 7 (01:53):
Well you know I would bring you some leftovers in
from Thanksgiving days. So happy to happy to lives. My
mom prepared well, So thank you. Shout out to mom.
Speaker 5 (02:02):
Thanksgiving was cool. Got you to spend on family. Family
is growing in a sense.
Speaker 7 (02:06):
My mom's best friend is marrying my cousin, so.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
Rudy and Kim will be married in June.
Speaker 7 (02:11):
Their family came over, so we had more kids, more smiles,
more laughs.
Speaker 5 (02:15):
More conversation share.
Speaker 7 (02:17):
So it was you know, it was a nice upbeat
pick up after you know, the one o'clock and the
lost with.
Speaker 6 (02:23):
People who when you're watching a game like that, how's
the emotion? Is it in check? Or do you let
your emotions and other people in the room their emotions
get the best of the individual.
Speaker 7 (02:37):
My stepdad, like CEP's emotional, like he watches the game
like he really I don't know if he necessarily a
sports guy before, you know what I'm.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
Saying, marrying my mom and then having me. But now
he's down in.
Speaker 7 (02:49):
He's locked in every catch, every drop, every touchdown, every flag,
every play, every almost every and now he's to the
point where like he really knows his stuff too.
Speaker 5 (02:57):
So he's the one that dives in.
Speaker 7 (03:00):
Because I'm still a new Lions fan, per se, I
still watch it just in the space of a football
football just enjoying a just enjoying a good game, if
you will, or un necessarily a good game, but just
enjoying a game the calls and watching it and dialing in.
So I'm not but you brought it differently that fourth down,
That fourth down brought emotion out.
Speaker 6 (03:18):
I will say, yeah, so that brought a lot of
emotion out. There's a lot of emotion too with what
many people feel, and rightfully so was a key play
in the game in which Green Bay was awarded a
timeout instead of a five yard penalty, so that is important,
but it's not the only reason this team lost. So
(03:38):
we'll get into that coming up, and of course the
Michigan Ohio state rivalry really looking forward to that conversation
as well. But first we want to recognize and we
do this every single week. It's the Braillen Edwards Show,
Smoothie King high School Athlete of the Week.
Speaker 7 (03:56):
Excited and I want to say, I thought you were
still going with that. I didn't know you were in
past enough to me. Man extremely excited. You know, it's
our favorite of the week here with Sports brother Networks show.
It's the Smoothie King, like chef said, high School after
thee of the Week. And this week we have a
first time sport and that is the sport of swimming. Elizabeth,
I break has become this movie high School after the Week,
(04:17):
and we are excited to.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
Have her and yeah, and we'll bring her in right now. Elizabeth. Congratulations,
I mean, what a what a performance, not just this
year but for your entire career. Has it gone by
quickly for you? What has been the the biggest thing
that you take out of the last four years and
your academic and athletic career at West Bloomfield.
Speaker 8 (04:39):
Thank you for having me on. It's a pleasure.
Speaker 9 (04:43):
I think the biggest takeaway is that you have to
learn to not take yourself so seriously.
Speaker 6 (04:47):
Sometimes you just got to have fun with food for thought.
I need to live by those words for sure.
Speaker 7 (04:52):
I was over enjoying one of these smoothies and my
apologies it was going down for four time state title holder,
like just talk about it mean to win state tiles.
We come up here so much and we have athletes
that are more in a team space, although swimming is
still team is still great that way, but you're an
individual swimmer. If you will talk about yourself and how
you get ready and what went into you know, being
(05:15):
a champion, which you are four times over.
Speaker 9 (05:19):
It's just the hard work that you put in. I
think to practice every day. It's swimming is not. You
can't hide behind anything in swimming necessarily. You what you
go out there and do is what your time shows.
And you can't like necessarily be behind like other people
(05:40):
like other sports, and so you have to put in
like the work consistently day.
Speaker 8 (05:45):
In and day out.
Speaker 7 (05:46):
One of my good friends when I was not when
in college and then professional ranks was uh, I'm sorry,
Michael Phelps. Michael Pelps got the Michigan when he's a
freshman is my senior year, so we had a chance
to overlap, become friends and talk. Never train with him
because for in the morning was it was ludicrous, But
always ask him how did you get into the races
that you chose?
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Why did the races choose you? How did you.
Speaker 7 (06:06):
Become synonymous with these individual events? So for you, two
hundred freestyle, five hundred freestyle, how did those become your races?
Speaker 8 (06:16):
I guess in a sense they chose me.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
I don't know.
Speaker 9 (06:21):
I just I guess I don't really have the stroke
for to sprint, you know, necessarily, and I guess these
just fall right in the middle where I fit.
Speaker 6 (06:34):
Okay, Can you talk about the sacrifices that it takes
to be a swimmer, whether you're a state champion or not.
Swimming is a very unique sport in that sense that
it requires early mornings and long days on a regular basis.
What type of sacrifices have you made during your high
school career?
Speaker 8 (06:57):
This is going to sound really sorry.
Speaker 9 (07:00):
I have only ever been to two high school football
games in my life.
Speaker 5 (07:05):
Well, yeah, sorry you guys.
Speaker 9 (07:10):
One was my one of my best friends high school
senior night last year, and the other one I went
to the Western Field game against Groves this year. Because
normally the football games they're Friday nights, right, so I
have to still be.
Speaker 8 (07:23):
Training on Fridays, So I don't. I guess what I don't.
I don't really have much of a social life.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
Yeah, okay, that's got to be tough.
Speaker 1 (07:30):
Like.
Speaker 6 (07:31):
So there's probably not many dances you've gone to, not
many parties you've gone to. I mean, it takes an
awful lot of discipline. How long have you been swimming
and what do you enjoy most about the sport.
Speaker 9 (07:43):
I've been swimming on a team since I was eight,
and I enjoy being around my friends. I've made very
successful friendships through this sport in and around the state
and the country, So I mean just getting to be
with them at meet and practices is what really keeps
(08:05):
me going.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Now, you want Tom sent correct. I remember being in
high school. I didn't attend a lot of parties in
high school. I wasn't driving, I didn't get my driver's license.
To the end of my senior year. I wasn't going
to parties. I wasn't hanging out.
Speaker 7 (08:15):
I was football, I was tracked, I was school, I
was basketball, I was baseball. So I definitely understand, you know,
kind of like sacrificing that social life. Early news for
you is later in life, you know, you'll get to
twenty five, you'll be able to do all those things
twenty college, et cetera. You'll be able to make up
for the things that you lost in the high school state.
Speaking of that college, what is the plans for you
going to college? What do you plan on continuing the
(08:37):
skills that you crafted in the world swim.
Speaker 9 (08:41):
I'm committed to swim at Well. I signed a couple
of weeks ago.
Speaker 5 (08:45):
There we go.
Speaker 8 (08:46):
I'm commitissim at university or any University of Bloomington.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
Oh are you yes?
Speaker 6 (08:52):
I you that's a hell of a program there. They've
got a hell of a toyming program right there.
Speaker 8 (08:56):
Yeah. The men got third and siblings and the women
got four.
Speaker 6 (09:01):
Is this one of those situations where in swimming do
freshmen are they jumping right in no, no pun intended,
jumping right in and contributing or is it similar to
maybe like a football almost a basketball once in a
while where you've got to sit back and learn a
little bit. Like can you go to IU and contribute
right away?
Speaker 8 (09:20):
I can?
Speaker 9 (09:21):
Yeah, Okay, there's like it's like swimming is like it's
not like football, where it's like almost more I don't
want to say like scale based, but it's almost more
like the seniors or like the upper class and play
better because they've been on the team for longer periods
of time. But there are plenty of swimmers like that
could score and c doublea's right now and they're in
(09:43):
migrat or in the grade below.
Speaker 8 (09:45):
Wow, Okay, it just depends on what your times are.
Speaker 6 (09:49):
Can you take us through a day of what we
were talking about sacrifices a little bit earlier with it?
Take us through a day of what it's like to
be an elite swimmer at the high school level. I mean,
if you really want to excel, what does it take?
You're what time you're waking up, what are you doing,
what's your what's your calorie intakes? Since you since you
burn a ton of calories in swimming, how does that
(10:09):
work for you?
Speaker 9 (10:11):
I have a pretty niche schedule, I think, as do
a lot of simmers who have to try to work
around school and stuff.
Speaker 8 (10:20):
I don't do morning practice.
Speaker 9 (10:23):
My coach likes to be able to have me like
sleep and be more like rested for school.
Speaker 8 (10:30):
Okay, So I do school.
Speaker 9 (10:32):
From seven thirty to two twenty three, which yeah, I know,
weird ending time, and then we practice two thirty to
five thirty, and then I get food and I do
my homework from five thirty to six thirty, and then
I get back in from.
Speaker 8 (10:50):
Six thirty to eight.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Who is something this woman's that have inspired you over
your career?
Speaker 7 (10:57):
I know for me, I know different sport, but I
always had individuals and I would take something from I said,
oh I want to be a little bit like this,
or I want to be like this person. I love
the way that this person does that. And I took
from a couple of people you yourself. Are there any
swimmers that you look Obviously Kaylen Decky is a name
that comes up when you talk about women's swimmers and
the dynamo that she's been. Are there anybody out there
that influences you or does it come just from yourself?
Speaker 9 (11:21):
I think it comes from just a bunch of people
around me, Like there's some great female athletes in the sport.
Speaker 8 (11:30):
Alison Schmidt. Definitely.
Speaker 9 (11:33):
There's a couple of younger girls on my team that
make that I strive to be better to show them
that you can be better.
Speaker 8 (11:41):
And then, just like.
Speaker 9 (11:44):
Female athletes who have accomplished so much of Michigan, so
like Jenny Banker, I'm like so many awards, and I
just strive to live up to those accomplishments.
Speaker 6 (11:55):
You mentioned Alison schmid okay, an Olympic medalist and Canton star,
and you just broke her records in the two hundred
and five hundred yard freestyle. What was that feeling like
or just a two hundred? I'm sorry, what was what
was that feeling like?
Speaker 9 (12:16):
You know, coming into the season, I was already under
the time after last year was a bit of a disappointment.
So I just had to prove to myself that I
could do it during high school season. And to do
that and still drop time, it's just an honor.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
I thought, Correct me if I'm wrong here. I thought
your five hundred pre lim broke the record of grand
Ledge's Lola Mole in twenty seventeen. Is that incorrect?
Speaker 5 (12:43):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (12:43):
You did all right?
Speaker 6 (12:44):
All right, all right, I just wanted to make sure
that said, well, well, congratulations, thanks for joining us. I
hope you had a great Thanksgiving and all the best
at IU. Are you graduating early by chance and headed
to Bloomington or are you going to finish out the
rest of the year there at West Bloomfield.
Speaker 8 (13:03):
No, I'm going to finish out the rest of the year.
Speaker 9 (13:05):
I could have graduated early, but that would have been
a conversation.
Speaker 8 (13:08):
That would have had to happen, like the year.
Speaker 6 (13:11):
All right, good luck to you, Thanks for your time.
We appreciate it very much.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Graduate Elizabeth the Smoothie King twelve should be a part
of that.
Speaker 6 (13:17):
Yeah, we will see her. We will see you here
later later on. Yeah, absolutely, Elizabeth Lakers from West Bloomfield. Man,
what a what an accomplishment. You know, the more you
you talk to these young people and you see what
they've accomplished in their in their young lives already, it
makes shake your head going, you know, you know, good
for Smoothie King, Good for you to recognize these young
(13:39):
and I love that. You know, we've got such a
diversification uh in their athletes uh and and athletic achievements.
But it takes a special person to do with some
of these these nominees have have really been able to accomplish.
Speaker 5 (13:52):
To a lot of college students today.
Speaker 7 (13:53):
Man, you know a lot of players at Michigan and
other places, and they're just so much more, you know,
dare I say it's gonna sound crazy, but sure, and
we were at that phase. I saw a stat that
came out maybe a month or two or three ago,
talk about this era doesn't drink. I know it's completely separate,
but this era doesn't drink much like our eras of
the eras before.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
And when you talk to these kids, you really see it. Now.
Speaker 7 (14:15):
These kids in college they're not drinking, they're not going crazy,
not going to clubs. They're dedicated, they're focus, they're doll
into the things that they're supposed to be dialed into,
whether whether it's religion, whether it's sport, education, friendship, and
also the community.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
They do a lot of work in the community.
Speaker 7 (14:31):
But when we interview these SMOOTHI King high school twelve
or nine so far, you see how it's like that
in college because they're so mature at this age.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
In high school. CJ.
Speaker 7 (14:40):
Sadler, Now, I saw I ran into Duke Banner's father
this week and.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Now you see it right here with Elizabeth Ibreak. She
talks about sacrifice.
Speaker 7 (14:47):
She's not worried about going to football games on Friday
night because she's going to the pool. She's doing the
things that she has to do. She's sacrificed in here.
She's worried about there. She's worried about being a good
example to the young kids that are coming behind her.
Who talks like that this era is very good as
it relates to the kids, and he's there, They take
it serious and very man Sure you have to give
(15:07):
him a lot of credit.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Yees.
Speaker 6 (15:08):
So she just talked about that. CJ. Sadler talked about
his involvement in the community, helping kids out and things
of that nature. It's really refreshing, quite honestly. What was
not refreshing was what happened with the Lions. Now this
is look in our society. I'm starting to understand a
little bit more. Doesn't mean I agree with it, but
the hyperbolic feel of when something happens to your favorite team.
(15:33):
So we were on the air when Frank Ragnow and
it was announced that he's coming out of retirement, which
was great. I mean it's awesome, you know, and Justin's
emotion was fantastic. It's true. Okay, that is not fake.
It's not staged, it's not planned. But this is why
I was a little bit more reserved. I love Frank
ragnow you know that he was my favorite player before
(15:55):
he retired. He done played defense, and the Lions have
been defense. This doesn't save them at all. What saves
them is what would have been necessary needs or even
better play or what dare I say health on the
defensive side of the ball. And we could talk about,
(16:17):
you know, how impacted Frank reagnan. I was gonna make
the offense and that's great. He's gonna help with line calls,
he's gonna help with protections. He's gonna help protect here
golf and sorts. They've been scoring, okay, last couple of games.
The defense can't stop anybody. One of the worst things
that I noticed, you know, over yesterday's game on Thanksgiving
(16:39):
against Green Bay is the lack of pressure. Okay, Jordan
Love is clean, and the inability to get off the
damn field on third downs and fourth downs. Specifically, I
don't care how many guys come back if you can't
fix those two problems, Braylan, this team's not making the
(16:59):
playoff and they may not make the playoffs anyway.
Speaker 7 (17:03):
Yeah, this team isn't looking good as a relation to
making the playoffs. It's a lot that they have to overcome,
including two teams in their division. One team now will
be the wild cards, the Green Bay Packers, who they
lost to twice. And then you look at what the
forty nine Ers and the Seahawks are done. They're also
waiting for that wildcard spot. So it's gonna be tough
slanting for the Detroit Lions, like they can't stop anybody
on defense. You know, chev when you look at the
seasons and the games that played out, and yes, you know,
(17:23):
you can point to a couple games, the Eagles game.
You know, the more and more you look at the
Eagles game, you understand what it was. It was a
horrible game for both teams offensively because the win and
everything else like that played a factor. And that the
Bucks game and then the Browns game, those are the
only games where you got some defensive assistance if you
other than that, you know, Vikings twenty seven Giants, twenty
seven Commanders, put twenty two on your Chiefs, thirty Packers,
thirty twice on the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 5 (17:46):
They can't stop anything. And at the end of the day,
it's twofolk.
Speaker 7 (17:50):
The secondary isn't good enough for the defensive ends to
not get the pressure that they don't get correct like
when you have defensive ends that can't get to the
quarterback and everybody's pressure this and get pressures. And I
told you I've come on this show for the last
three months and said, pressures don't matter if you're not
getting interceptions. Pressures don't matter if you're not forcing quarterbacks
to do dumb things. The other side of the pressure
(18:11):
conversation is you still can complete the pass. There wasn't
even any pressure this pas yesterday against the Green Bay Packers.
So when there's no pressure and you allowed Jordan Love
to sit in there, we were sitting legitimately trying to
figure out who's a number one wide receiver.
Speaker 5 (18:24):
For the green Bay package bag.
Speaker 7 (18:26):
All week we've been talking about who's the number one
guys Romeo Dibbs, they don't have a number one. Well,
then Tavian Wicks looked like a number one yesterday Wandelle
Robinson looked like a first round draft pick two weeks ago.
And these are not the type of wide receivers that
you're gonna have to go against in the playoffs if
you make it there.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
Right now, with the way that defense is, let's call
the spade the spade.
Speaker 7 (18:44):
With the way this defense is and the way the
offense is, especially with the injuries.
Speaker 5 (18:47):
This is not a playoff ten. You cannot do the things.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
You cannot allow your quarterback to get hit, you cannot
miss wide open passes, you can't drop passes on key.
Speaker 5 (18:56):
Key moments.
Speaker 7 (18:57):
And this wasn't just one game for Jameis William dropping
off four up down. This has been a trend for
the wide receiver the Detroit Lions this season. Big downs,
big drops, and that all around everywhere, there's enough.
Speaker 5 (19:09):
Room to point blam. You can point blames to the quarterback.
Speaker 7 (19:11):
You can point blames to the offensive line, you can
point blame to the defensive line, the coaching staff. Kelvin
Shepard does not look like what at one point we
thought he was. A lot of injuries, We understand a
lot of moving parts, but it's just not good enough
all the way around.
Speaker 6 (19:25):
Yeah, I can't use the injury excuse and The reason
I can't is because the injury excuse didn't work for
anybody in the offensive side. Okay, we never made the
excuse of injuries when it came to Morton, so we
can't use it for Kelvin Sheppard. When Tampa, when they
(19:48):
did what they did to Tampa, we lauded Kelvin Sheppard. Okay.
In fact, we went so far as to say this
game right there might put him on people's radar for
a new head coachm blaming everything on Kelvin Shephard because
players got to make place in the long run. But
just like we expect Dan Campbell to make certain adjustments,
(20:10):
should we not expect the same from coordinators? Why are
they going man to man on a regular basis when
a they're not getting home and be the guys they
have on the back end aren't very good at manda man.
If you're full compliment there, I get it. You're not
fully complimented. So where's the adjustment?
Speaker 1 (20:30):
There?
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Reason why you don't go man and man, The reason
why they won't go zone zone they don't press as much.
And if you don't press, you I mean, if you
don't pressure out of a night, if you go on zone,
you're not pressuring for the most part. If you're going zone,
you're sitting there, you're going four rust three Western track
to get to the quarterback. They can't get to the
they can't get to the quarterback with the four rush.
They can't get the quarterback and zone. And then when
you sit in zone and you're not rusting five or
(20:50):
you're not blitzing, what that does it allows a quarterback
that knows what he's doing to pick you apart. Your
secondary isn't good enough to defend a zone situation. And
that's why it stay out the zone because man and
man allows you the shortest amount of time between snap
to the quarterback if you're pressing the right way.
Speaker 5 (21:06):
If you're playing man and man, press the right way.
Speaker 7 (21:08):
So that's why they're doing this is because they don't
have Yeah, it sounds crazy, doesn't they're pressing because they
don't have Actually, the DB's on the outside, so it's
just a tough sledding right now.
Speaker 6 (21:18):
So what you're telling people is in order, if you're
gonna play zone, you've got to get pressure with four
more often times than not. Because if you're sitting zone,
if you're going man you're gonna bring blitzes from your safety,
from your linebackers, and right.
Speaker 7 (21:33):
If you go man and man coverage like the man
and man coverage allows dbs to disrupt the route of
the wide receiver. And that's where you get an edgy at.
You get a chance to disrupt the wire receivers. Maybe
there's a little bit off, Maybe you can get to
the pressure a little bit. Quarterback has to throw the
ball a little bit sooner. Now it's incomplete pass. Now
you're rolling the second and tent. But when it's zoned,
wide receivers can run smooth routes. They can run uninterrupted,
(21:53):
clean routes. And when you're running uninterrupted route, you're legitimately
just like I'm at the mercy. Defensive back is now
at the mercy of what the dB is gonna do,
especially what the receiver is gonna do, especially if the
dB isn't a dB one or even a dB two
at this point, the dB three, dB four, that's what
they are.
Speaker 5 (22:10):
They're like, Oh, shoot, what's he gonna do? What's he
gonna do? They're reacting. Zone makes you reaction anymore.
Speaker 6 (22:15):
That's thank you for that.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
I'm serious. I mean, I wasn't connecting them.
Speaker 6 (22:19):
No, but that's that's such a great description. We have
not heard that, Okay, we've we haven't heard that from anybody.
The reason you don't go zone is because they get
a clean release, they get a free route, and you
better be able to get home with four. Detroit can't
get home with four. Hell, they can't get home with five.
They can't get home with six. Yesterday I noticed they're
blitzing Angeloni, they're blitzing Campbell. They ain't getting home and
(22:43):
that's a problem. Now we can blame Aiden Hutchinson. More
has to be done. You said it four or five
weeks ago. You expect more out of him, Okay, because
I don't want to hear the double teams everybody's dealing with.
Michah Parsons was dealing with double teams. Miles Garrett at
eight sack Day had double teams. All right. When you're
I'm sorry, I know you don't like me to bring
up the financial aspect of it. When you're getting paid
(23:03):
this much money you've got to deliver, it's no different
than in any other sport. Okay, So we're not picking
on one specific guy because I haven't heard anything from
about Tyler Williams. Lately, after the first game of Lee,
McNeil was back Where is He? I watched specifically ninety
two yesterday Marcus Davenport Where was He? It's not just
(23:23):
Aiden Hutchinson. But when you're getting that much money, you
are going to be singled out just like you would
if you're a wide receiver, a quarterback, or a running back.
So it's fair.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Yeah, it is fair too.
Speaker 7 (23:34):
I think the thing about it is there's been a
lot of different type of offensive systems that have had
success on the line of defense.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
So it's not just one offense.
Speaker 7 (23:40):
It's not like you're like, well, you know, that was
Jordan Love and this is a really good Green Bay offense,
is it? Oh that was Jameson Winston's Jameis Winston, like
you could point to I don't want to go back
to the Vikings. There have been a lot of different
offenses that have had success on this defense, and that's
just glaring.
Speaker 1 (23:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (23:57):
That's the other thing, the fact that you're not even
turning it over and you're losing, right, It's not like
the opposing defenses are forcing a lot of turns. The
opposing defenses are just punching in the mouth and beating
you flat out.
Speaker 7 (24:11):
They line up and got three fourth downs yesterday. Yeah,
they lined up and allowed the opposition to get three
fourth downs. At some point, the will and the resolve
have to be there. At some point, you have to
make a play. You can't tell me who's playing and
who's not playing. To your point, you have to line
up and make a play. Hey, look, this is what
we want to do. We said, this is where we
want to go. Somebody's got to stand up and make
(24:31):
a play. That's what the Lions have had in the
last three years. That's what they've had. They've always had
a guy to make a play. They've always had somebody
to stand up. They've always had a guy coming off
the bench, or they've always had one of the stars.
Like now those plays aren't getting made. Like now that
energy is not there. Like even when the Lions had
they were in the game, it didn't feel like they
were in a game. I agree, Like, even when the
(24:52):
Lions are right there, game wasn't. That was ten to thirty,
ten to seven or one of those. And I'm looking
at the score right now. It was seventeen to fourteen,
and I still felt Green Bay was.
Speaker 6 (25:01):
Just you felt like you had to. You felt like
you were swimming upstream the entire time.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
That part, you know, And that's but that's every single game.
It feels like, I know, every game feels like you're swimming.
Speaker 10 (25:12):
Up like giants, help them get the win. A negligent coach, correct.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
This is two losses and three losses in a row.
If the coach called, I mean, kicks a field.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
Goal, yeah, And if your coach kicks kick field goal, okay,
And we can debate that all we want, but the
bottom line is this team is in trouble in a
lot of different areas. One guy is not coming back
to make the biggest difference. And we're not gonna sit
here on this show the day after Thanksgiving and bitch
about what Brad Holmes didn't do. We've already done that.
(25:42):
It's what does this team have to do to move
forward to actually have a chance at making the playoffs
because losing twice to Green Bay, once already, to Chicago,
once to Philadelphia, there is nothing this team has shown
us in the last couple of weeks. And really, you
could go back further than that. Yeah, Okay, even though
(26:05):
they beat the Giants. It doesn't matter. You could go
you and I said this the day after they lost
to Minnesota. That's the game that bothers us the most.
And it seems like that's the game, perhaps more than
any other, that exposed them to their ultimate weaknesses.
Speaker 7 (26:21):
Here's the thing, too, and I know this is we're
getting all over the place, but it was one of
those kind of games, and the conversation, the thought process.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
Of what that game was, it leads you in a
bevy of directions.
Speaker 7 (26:29):
When you're watching Dave Montgomery comany game, he's lining up
in a wildcat and you know he's throwing the ball
at some point, like I'm sitting on the couch and
I'm sitting here, like he's gonna throw this pass. If
I see him twice, I know he's gonna throw the pass.
See him a second time.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
What happens?
Speaker 7 (26:45):
He throws the past sheep. I'm not madd he necessarily
threw the pass. Is what the Lions do. It doesn't
work anymore. You need to stop it.
Speaker 5 (26:51):
But it's maybe I'm mad.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
I didn't in the middle of I didn't take that.
I didn't take it that way. I usually think think
that if you're lined up in the wildcout you're actually
gonna run. You're telling everybody you're gonna run.
Speaker 7 (27:03):
But Dave Montgomery has three touchdown passes throwing in his career, so.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
At some point of anybody, in fact, he threw on
this year.
Speaker 6 (27:10):
Yeah, and they when you split Jared Goff to the left,
like just take him off the field, okay, and put
somebody else out there who might be able to contribute something.
Basically by doing that, you're playing ten on eleven. And
I can't stand that all right. I think there's too
many times where I felt I used the word desperate.
I thought Detroit was desperate at times because they are
(27:34):
trying with certain things that just don't appear to be
Like the end around. Your offensive line can't sustain blocks
long enough for that. That's been proven. The toss back
to Jared Goff, the line that would hold long enough,
although he should have caught.
Speaker 7 (27:51):
It, that was on hold on he Jared Goff. And
I'm actually I'm not happy it happened to Jared Goff
because he's a Lion and I'm jeering for the Lions.
But I'm happy that happened because it happens all the time.
With wide receivers and everybody's always like, you got to.
Speaker 5 (28:03):
Catch the ball. You got to catch the ball, catch
the ball first. That's exactly what you hold on.
Speaker 7 (28:07):
But this is about to get funny, chef and watching
him play and Jared gar play was a touchdown.
Speaker 6 (28:13):
That's why Jared, if he catches that, you think it's
a touchdown.
Speaker 7 (28:15):
I know it's a touchdown because that's why he took
his eye off of it, because it was there and
he saw it, so he got excited, so that legitimately
they're tossing the ball, he's like, I'm about to shoot.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
I dropped the ball.
Speaker 7 (28:26):
For Tom Brady to get up on that broadcast and
talk about dropping passes, aren't you the same quarterback that's
all dropped one in the Super Bowl.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
That's been a while open touchdown the pot calling the
kettle black, like, come.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
On time, we saw six rings. But yeah, you're saying it's.
Speaker 7 (28:44):
Not about the six rings, it's about that particular play
you dropped one too, So pipe down.
Speaker 5 (28:48):
With that being said, that's that's that pressing that I've
been talking about.
Speaker 6 (28:52):
I think you're right around dropping past You talked about.
Speaker 7 (28:55):
It, missing tackles, players trying to do things because they will.
We see now and what everybody, I hope and the
chat understands is a serious situation, maybe one where they
don't make the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (29:06):
The Lions have felt that for the past month plus.
The Lions have felt that Jaredoff has a wide open touchdown.
He's legitimately you got to catch the ball for as
in one, two three. But things like that, that's the
press of shoot shoot shoot.
Speaker 6 (29:19):
Yeah, one hundred percent. And you said that you feel
like they're pressing you know, the Brady thing.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
I get it.
Speaker 6 (29:25):
I can't. It was just fun. I know, it's funny.
You can't pipe down. Every analyst does that. Tony Romo
does it. Oh you got to complete that pass. You've
misspasses before, you know, I mean every every particular thing.
Every guy does that in every sport when they themselves,
while playing didn't do it. That's why a lot of
them are really hesitant to even say certain things because
(29:45):
they don't want to piss people off and say, you
know what, go back and look at my career. I
never did that. Oops, yes you did. But I hear
what you're saying. Yeah, look the desperate thing. What is
it that you notice in this team, not just the
way it plays, but the way it carries it. What
do you notice of it being that tense, that that
type of restrictions that they have on themselves because of the.
Speaker 7 (30:09):
Stuff typically like when the Lions are humping, when you
when you're cooking with grease like they have been let's
say last year twenty three, et cetera. And at the
end of the twenty two season, that run that they
had eight of the last ten games. It's just organic.
You can watch them and they're not overthinking things. They're
getting their depth. You know, for out his sixteen yards
to getting in sixteen If they're wide open, they're supposed
to catch the ball. They catch the ball, they tuck it,
(30:29):
and then they look up field like if they're supposed to
whatever they're supposed to do. In the last couple of years,
they've done it. They've had moments what you're having, but
as a whole, you know, they usually do the things
that they're supposed to do. This season is not You
can see on routes where it's supposed to get sixteen yards,
guys are pressing because they want to hurry up and
get to the ball. So now they're getting thirteen. Now
they cheat their depth. Now they're not past the sticks.
(30:51):
Now it's not a first down. Now they're trying to
catch the ball. Now they're trying to get to the
end zone before finishing catching the ball. Now you're dropping.
Now you got guys coming up, meeting guys in the
hole and as a pole to just form tackling, wrap
the guy. They're trying to do something cute, knock the
ball out and tackle at the same time. Now they're
getting run over. You know, quarterbacks are supposed to just
take that. Quarterbacks Jared Goff as opposed to just take
what's there. Sometimes he's trying to take the big play
(31:13):
or even bigger play, and he's missed first downs this
year where guys were open.
Speaker 5 (31:16):
He's missed touchdowns where.
Speaker 7 (31:17):
Guys roping because he's only focusing on amar Ro saying
round because now that I'm pressing, because now that I
believe Bleep is hitting the fan.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
Who's the guy I trust?
Speaker 7 (31:26):
Well, if you I the guy you trust down all
the time, everybody on the defense is going to eventually
see that things like this are the press. Coaches doubling
down for doubling down, for doubling down for coaches get
second guests in themselves. We saw the lines gett into
a bit of rhythm yesterday and then all of a sudden,
they went right back to the thing that was killing him,
which is run the ball right up the middle of
Jamior Gibbs.
Speaker 6 (31:47):
Especially in a fourth down and three when they're getting
they're not getting any They tackles.
Speaker 7 (31:52):
Three four times in a row. And that was after
the series before where they had some movement. They had
some players coming in the past game a little bit,
and then they did won two runs with Jamier Gibbs,
and he got stopped on both of them. They came
back and did the same thing on the next drive
and gave it to him four times, and then he
got stopped on all four.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (32:08):
Look, I said this this morning. They looked bad on
their first two drives. There's no question, Okay, I mean
three plays and out. They get two yards on the
first drive. Second drive, it's five plays and three yards
obviously of it. Yeah, after that, it's touchdown on a
ten play drive, it's touchdown on a seven play drive.
It's they're moving the ball to a certain extent. Seven
plays they go forward inexplicably at midfield and don't get it.
(32:33):
The next time they have the ball, it's a touchdown
on a five play drive. The next one it's eleven
plays fifty one yards. They turn it over on downs
down near in the Green Bay red zone, and then
the fuel goal. To ethic, it's not like they didn't
move the ball. Now, at times they did, but it's
when you're making certain calls and what you're doing. Here's
(32:55):
what I want to go ahead. I'm sorry I was
gonna say. I think a lot of people are wondering.
I'm wondering whether or not this people think this team
is going to make the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (33:03):
Yeah, we can talk about that. We can definitely diving
in that right now. The brawn home stuff I definitely
want to get to too, because we'll get to that
in the second hour. But the fourth down deal, I
get it. It's our identity, who yare? Blah blah blah.
It's one thing when you're equipped.
Speaker 6 (33:21):
To do that, full complimented players.
Speaker 5 (33:23):
It's one like when.
Speaker 7 (33:25):
You're fully equipped, full complimentary players, the players that you have,
everything is rocking and grow and when you're doing it,
it be like you never worried about the Lions going
forward on fourth down because you knew they had the
personnel correct and then it always felt like this is
this is a given. I trust them all fourth down
and third death. We're in a year now where we
don't have the personnel anymore. You don't have the same
you do not have the same offense.
Speaker 5 (33:46):
Right, you don't have you can you can so so
a midfield go for it. We're not that team that
we'll be going for the midfield, right.
Speaker 6 (33:53):
We ask players to constantly make adjustments. Okay, we're asking
coaches at halftime. Really it's throughout the game of making adjustments.
The adjustment has to be a mindset, not just x's
and o's, but it has to be a mindset too.
You can go for it at the opponent's forty seven
yard line on a fourth and three when Kevin Zeitler's
(34:16):
your right guard and Frank Ragnow is your center and
you have a full compliment of players. It's hard to
do that when you've got a rookie at the right guard,
you've got a journeyman who's your really second maybe you're
even your third center, and an unproven guy at the
left guard. It's borderline football suicide to be doing this
(34:39):
if you don't have the personnel who can actually accomplish
the goal. Yeah, so, I mean that's the frustrating part. Now,
some people in the chat, I give him credit, you know.
I mean, somebody said, relax, We're going to make the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (34:54):
Why do we always have to relax? Like why do
we always have when when you not relax? When will
the Detroit Lions faithful, not relaxed? Like it's not a
baby Lions fans killed me.
Speaker 5 (35:06):
Relax.
Speaker 7 (35:06):
We're gonna make the play based on what merit are
the Detroit Lions making the playoffs and what they've shown
you in the last three games. Yeah, they gave you
nothing against the Eagles, they gave you nothing in the
first half against the Giants, and they gave your resolved win.
Speaker 5 (35:19):
Fine, we'll give you that against the Giants. Towards the end.
Speaker 7 (35:22):
You saw what they did yesterday against the Green Bay Packers,
a team that had already beaten them by the way.
You know, you can lose to them twice and yet
and still we did. So where where's the we're making
the playoffs?
Speaker 6 (35:33):
I ask this of people all the time. Put a
blind fold on for a moment and pretend like you
don't follow football super closely to your team, and you
read off the records that are associated with the teams
you're played. Bears good win, right, turns out to be
a good win. At the time, it didn't really matter
Ravens five hundred, Browns below five hundred, Bengals below five hundred,
(35:57):
Buccaneers at five hundred, Commanders, under five hundred Giants, and
under five hundred. If you want to be convinced and
say relax, it tells me that you're confident that and
we should all be confident that they're winning well. There
are certain trends that I think we all have to
recognize with teams and players too, and this team's recent
(36:18):
trend would tell you there is grave concern that they
can turn it around and do it consistently, which is
what they're going to have to do the rest of
the year if they want to make the wild card spot.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (36:30):
One of them is I'm like that Chicago Bears game, Like,
I get it, it's a it's not a good win
because when that Bears team you played them, they weren't
a good team. They weren't this Bears team. So I'm
not even giving you that win. If you played this
Bears team today, I don't know who wins. And that's
the problem with the Lions. And you talk about they're
gonna make the playoff. The fact that I don't know
who's gonna win that game.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
That stuff.
Speaker 6 (36:51):
The Baltimore win is not shaping up to be a
great win because they look like absolute dog do life.
Speaker 5 (36:56):
Oh oh, by the way, they put up thirty on
the Lions.
Speaker 6 (36:58):
Yeah exactly. And now what you have left. You have
a Dallas team that is won three in a row
and people are saying, well, they put up decent wins.
They just beat the two Super Bowl contenders over the
last two weeks, and two teams that just beat you,
So I think it's more than decent. Okay, Dallas problems,
Rams problems, Icago in Chicago, in Chicago, Minnesota in Minnesota,
(37:23):
you wouldn't think it would be a problem. Pittsburgh get
home shouldn't be an issue, right, Guess what you need
more than one win?
Speaker 7 (37:29):
Also, two not of lines are in a place where
they always were a team that people were hunting for
now because the Lions have ascended to one of those
type teams.
Speaker 5 (37:37):
But now they're hunting in a different way. The last
four or five game of season.
Speaker 7 (37:40):
They're trying to hunt and bury the Lion like every
team that you now play, because one they see blood
in the water.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
They see blood in the water. They see an offensive
line that they can shake.
Speaker 7 (37:48):
We don't know what Frank Ragman is going to be
when he come backs for right now, let's just say
they see an offensive line that they can get by,
they see a defensive line that they can protect, they
see a quarterback that they can get to, they see
players that they.
Speaker 5 (37:59):
Can run by. Talking about the DBS like, this is
what they see.
Speaker 7 (38:03):
So now they say, you know what, that same team
that was talking stuff the Detroit takeovers and all this stuff,
and they came to our stadiums, they dominated our stadiums,
and this was the new team. This is your king.
We got some form. Like that's the energy of the Bears.
You saw what the Packers did. That's gonna be the
energy of the Rams. That's gonna be the energy of
the Cowboys. Cowboys OUs anyway, we embarrassed them last year
when Ayden got hurt. So it's going to be an interesting,
(38:28):
interesting remaining of the season.
Speaker 5 (38:29):
If you make the playoffs, you truly deserve.
Speaker 6 (38:31):
Yeah, it'll be very interesting the emotional side of things,
because everybody said going into this game, look, Detroit owes
green Bay something, and that didn't seem to matter. Detroit's
at home didn't seem to matter. Detroit didn't get any
pressure on Jordan Love last time, they know what they
have to do, didn't seem to matter. Green Bay moved
the ball almost did Will. So I don't think the
(38:54):
emotional side of things from a sports standpoint. Dallas is
gonna come in here because they know damn well, but
they got a really good shot at making the postseason
and they feel like they're playing better than just about
anybody in the NFC, and Brian Schottenheimer and company can
make a case for that.
Speaker 7 (39:08):
Emotion is a thing, though, because at the same time,
the Lions were in the exact same space last year
when they played against the Dallas Cowboys. They knew they
were a good team, they knew they had opportunity, but
it was personal for them and that's why they put
up a fifty ball.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Yeah, you can blend the two.
Speaker 7 (39:22):
I think teams that do well you should blend the too,
or you don't have to get caught up in the
emotion and you know, lose some plays because of it,
but you're gonna add that fuel. Like I've been in
those locker rooms where I've been in some locker rooms
where I've heard Rex say some things that when we
lost to the Patriots, we lost in New England, Patriots
the infamous one to forty nine to three, when we
played them in that playoff series. When we got to
jileet Oh, Rex had some words for us in the
(39:44):
locker room, just to remind us remember last time we
came here.
Speaker 5 (39:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (39:47):
I think it's a thing, There's no doubt about it.
I think it's important. I think it's a part of sports.
I love that part of sports. I just don't think
it's the be all end all. I think it's a
combination of that and other things. Let's face it, you
gotta have talent and guys got to make play. Your
best players have to make plays. Who's the best player yesterday?
Who made plays two weeks ago? Jamiir Gibbs is better
(40:09):
than Barry Sanders. That's what we heard. We heard it
on this network, created in the newspaper, we heard it
on people on social media. That's the case against Tampa.
Calvin Sheppard is going to be a head coach somewhere.
Jared Goss the MVP, a'man ros Saint Brown is better
than Calvin Johnson. This is the thing that happens. Oh
(40:32):
my god, Thank goodness, Frank Ragnow is coming back. Now
we're saved. Oops. You know what we forgot. We forgot
that he doesn't play defense. We forgot other teams are
adjusting and Calvin Shepherd actually can make some mistakes once
in a while. That Jared goff Win pressured, isn't as
qualified to be an MVP candidate as when he is.
And with Jamiir Gibbs needs an offensive line to actually
(40:55):
become better than Barry Sanders. Those are all things that
have to happen.
Speaker 7 (40:59):
On a funny note, where the hell the time Kennedy
come from? When he caught that first pass, I was
so excited. I said, he's still on the team.
Speaker 6 (41:05):
Good for Kennedy, he's on the practice squad.
Speaker 7 (41:08):
And then he went out there and made four catches
and had a touchdown like he was actually probably he
was pretty good. He was the only consistent brush spot yesterday.
Speaker 6 (41:15):
Yeah, and as soon as Isaac Teslon catches one, Braylan
sends me a text right away. He had two catches.
I think he had three targets, and he had one
touchdown and.
Speaker 5 (41:26):
Didn't go back to him.
Speaker 7 (41:27):
But this is the issue with the Isaac Tesla situation,
and I'm actually glad it happened, all right. You know
why it is because it wasn't just a preseason game.
It wasn't a throwaway game that you lose. It wasn't
right before the half against the Cleveland Browns, who nobody
cares about. It happened on national TV when everybody was
watching the Thanksgiving game and everybody around the country, And
(41:49):
now say, where the hell has Tesla been? Didn't he
do something in the preseason? Why won't they give him
the ball? See now, you can't put that genie back
in about because everybody saw it because legitimate to catch
the route.
Speaker 5 (41:59):
Everything he did. Now, it was a really good play
by him. It beg it Beckons. Why aren't you in
there more?
Speaker 6 (42:05):
Yeah, he only had two targets, by the way, and
two targets, two catches and one touchdown.
Speaker 5 (42:10):
Sounds like it doesn't.
Speaker 6 (42:12):
I don't want to make it sound easy, because he's
taught us that it's really.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
Not like that.
Speaker 6 (42:15):
Let's be careful, man. But when a guy's as productive
as he has been, he start seems sure handed to me.
Doesn't mean he always gets separation, but he looks sure
handed to me.
Speaker 5 (42:26):
He's six or four when it's forty years burd Right,
you don't need separation, Okay.
Speaker 6 (42:30):
Then I don't. I know there's only one football dude,
but I should be at least looking at him, or
the coaching staff should at least put him in a
situation where he's more of an option than what he's been.
Is that fair enough?
Speaker 7 (42:43):
Been clamoring for this for legitimately two and a half months,
and at the end of the day, it's not taking
any passes away from Mama Rossaint Brown, he's injury right now.
It's not taking anything away from Jamo, who you didn't
feature the whole season anyway, so it doesn't matter salan
Port is gone. But also too, you guys are struggling
with protection. You know what he gives you on a
fade route. You know what he gives you on a
fade route. You don't have to protect for that long.
It's one two three, let the ball go. It's one
(43:05):
two three, throw the ball up. He's six to four
with a four years very he's going to come down
with it and if it does pass in affairs, now
you get yards down the field. Now it's another first down.
The name of the game is to move the chains
and eventually put the ball in the end zone. You
move the chains fine, yesterday, it's just about the second part.
So just give him a try. You telling me you
can't give him two Faye balls a game. Yeah, man,
Out of seventy seven players on offense, two Faye balls

ESSENT i know it was a disappointing day, yesterday but
hopefully you were around friends and family and you were
able to have at least something lighting your. Stomach you
knew you were going to eat heartily right, absolutely with
turkey and stuffing colic greens and all the other things like.
That well make sure that you did yesterday and you
have it this weekend as. Well just a one hundred
(50:00):
calorie drink that tastes crisp and, smooth real, vodka real iced,
tea no. Bubbles it is called Sun Cruiser vodka iced.
Tea it's perfect for. Tailgates maybe you're going to The
michigan game, tomorrow maybe you're going to The Michigan state
game At Ford field later on ear in the. Evening,
well tailgates or couch, gates whatever it is that you.
(50:21):
Prefer Sun Cruiser vodka iced tea is the drink for.
You but please drink. Responsibly.
Speaker 5 (50:30):
Man so here's the.
Speaker 6 (50:32):
DEAL i know people don't like hearing about it BECAUSE
i don't like saying, it But Michael parsons was the son.
Speaker 15 (50:38):
Of a bitch, yesterday.
Speaker 6 (50:39):
Right two and a half, sacks the, pressures the quarterback,
hits all those. Things, NOW i brought up. PRESSURES i
brought upressures because the two and a half sacks are
part of that, right and he seems to have made
just about everybody. Better the point of, contention people right
now HAVE i think in the station open up that
conversation again is absolutely, right.
Speaker 7 (50:58):
And then will a lot of bs from you out
there by SAYING i Take mike Over. Piney i'll never
forgive you.
Speaker 6 (51:03):
For, well you, know BUT i do think it's it's
a good. DEBATE i, mean you can't argue That lions
fans Wanting Pine sewel is okay, too because he's he's been.
Outstanding he's been arguably the best right tackle in. Football
parsons has been one of the best defensive or pass
rushers in all of. Football two things you always teach me,
this two things can be true at the same, time
(51:24):
can't They.
Speaker 7 (51:25):
No not in this, case because you have to take.
ONE i don't have a problem with people wanting to take,
penee but WHEN i was conversating about, you they the
conversation was aggressive and it was, abrasive dealing with well
he's this by the type of, person and he's, this
and he's, that and well he doesn't show up on
all the, players he doesn't run and.
Speaker 5 (51:40):
RUNDOWNS i was, like at the end of the.
Speaker 7 (51:42):
Day this is WHY i will ultimately always take a
defensive edge rush who has a potential to wear it
goes jacket versus an offensive lineman that has.
Speaker 5 (51:48):
The potential to whear it goes. Jacket is because of
the effect of the.
Speaker 7 (51:51):
Game micah can influence and effect the game in so
many different, ways like.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
Legitimate when they played against The Detroit. Lions they played
against The cowboys two years.
Speaker 7 (52:00):
Ago mike didn't have a necessarily good, guy but he
did knock that ball out the one yard.
Speaker 6 (52:05):
Line, actually, yeah his thanks. Go we gave this On.
Wednesday His thanksgiving numbers were. Crazy, okay so he's been
really good On. THANKSGIVING i want to get to some super,
chats AND i also want to get to some others
that are in the chat. Room make sure you smash
that like button if you, can justin feed us with
some super. Chats if you got, him, yes.
Speaker 16 (52:25):
Sir let me pull those up.
Speaker 5 (52:26):
Here probably know those a day.
Speaker 16 (52:28):
Now we do have some.
Speaker 17 (52:29):
Today people are begging to get their ish off right,
Now rando smalls with a five dollars super. Chat why
did they adjust and blitz? More they blitzed plenty.
Speaker 5 (52:41):
What they bit they.
Speaker 6 (52:42):
BLITZED i thought they blitzed.
Speaker 5 (52:43):
Plenty now they couldn't get.
Speaker 6 (52:45):
Home, yeah they couldn't get. Home there's a difference between
blitzing and blitzing and not getting. Home, Okay and that's
exactly what. HAPPENED i, Mean Brian branch came on blitzes
plenty of. TIMES i saw linebackers. BLITZING i don't know how,
often how much is BLITZ i don't know the answer to.
That that's up to the. Individual but they, blitzed they butched,
plenty they did.
Speaker 5 (53:05):
Too and, also you gotta Give jordan love. CREDIT i
know this is not a state that's equipped to do,
that So i'll do it for. You you got to give him.
Speaker 7 (53:11):
Credit, look he moved up and around that pocket when
he had. To there were times in which he almost
got got moved up just a little bit to the,
side just a little, bit a little scroum with here
for two three yards like things like.
Speaker 5 (53:21):
That they.
Speaker 7 (53:21):
Help things like that helped The Green bay package. Yesterday
so a lot of those blitzes that didn't look like,
blitzes it's because he was able to get. Away it
is because they were able to pick him. Up and
you didn't get, home so you didn't necessarily see it that.
Way kudos To Jordan. LOVE i, mean he had a.
Game it's ugly because a lot of times he throws
these balls just hang up in the air and you're,
like that's gonna get, intercepted, right and then it doesn't
LIKE i get, It it doesn't look doesn't look.
Speaker 6 (53:42):
Pretty James winston did the same thing For New york.
Speaker 7 (53:45):
AND i don't like How JORDAN i don't like his
mechanics he. Throws he does the off the, back, yes the.
Fallback it's almost like a step back fall.
Speaker 5 (53:52):
BACK i don't like. It but yesterday it was cooking
for the.
Speaker 6 (53:55):
Lion, yeah it's hard to argue with. THAT i, mean four.
TOUCHDOWNS i say this all the, time but no one
said and no. INTERCEPTIONS i say this all the time to,
people AND i know it's. Difficult it's hard to change our.
Minds we've made up our mind About Jordan. Love it's
not LIKE i think he's a great. Quarterback so please
don't take this out of. Context but you can give
a guy credit for what he's done, well and he
(54:15):
played really. Well you can't deny that the four touchdowns
ties the career high for. Him all, right more from
the super check go ahead.
Speaker 17 (54:22):
Justin, yes, sir we got three more left to. Go
kenny powers to two dollars super. Chant oh, no we suck,
again Water boy five dollars super chat from rand smalls Five.
Bray i'm a relaxed because the bad calls we get tells.
Speaker 16 (54:37):
Me the script says we can make it For dream's.
Speaker 10 (54:40):
Sake the bad calls tells me there talking about the.
Timeout are we talking about the Matt Lein floyd's being
a game being granted that time?
Speaker 5 (54:50):
Out?
Speaker 12 (54:50):
Oh.
Speaker 17 (54:50):
Okay they're trying to make the scripts that The lions
can sneak into the, Playoffs SO i think the angle's
going for.
Speaker 6 (54:55):
There, well if they want to sneak in the Poll up,
playoffs they would help him. WIN i don't know how
they sneak into the.
Speaker 7 (54:59):
Playoffs, okay, fine some CAUSE im going against The lions this. Year,
fair some CAUSE im going against a lot of teams this.
Year but don't worry about the. Cause look at the.
Game look at the things The lions are doing. Wrong
did The revs drop that pass on fourth? Down did
THE revs call those bozo players on fourth? Down did
did the refs do.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
THAT i.
Speaker 7 (55:18):
Didn't, man did The res miss? Tackles did The res miss?
Sacks so, yeah.
Speaker 6 (55:22):
Green bay from the very get from the very first
play of the, game basically, said in so many words
by their, actions.
Speaker 5 (55:29):
Any believe The.
Speaker 6 (55:30):
Lions we're, Ready we're ready for a street fight. Here
and they shoved it down their. Throat detroit ran the
ball better than they did in the first meeting Against Green,
bay but they basically, said we're here to. Fight let's
see who wins in this back. Alley and The packers won.
Again AND i think that's what bothers The lions fans
as much as anything else as the pack, well, Well
(55:51):
braylan talks, about and rightfully, so the identity of the.
Team and it's been in the. Trenches, okay it's it's
not that hard to figure. Out as much we love
the glamour of throwing the football down the field and wide,
receivers no, offense going up and making. Catches you win
at the line of, scrimmage not with the guys who
(56:11):
run really fast. Forties you win with the line of.
Scrimmage what have we complained about with this? Team when
they lose the, interior you set it Against. Minnesota look
at where all the pressure came. From you texted. Me
the pressure is coming up the. Middle our weakness is
up the. Middle the strength of this team last year
was its offensive. Line it's their weakness this. Year This
(56:34):
one of the strengths last year or two years ago
was its defensive. Line it's a weakness this. Year if
you're not gonna be strong in the, trenches you're gonna
have a, long long. Season go, Ahead, no all, right
justin one.
Speaker 5 (56:48):
Map, yeah let us know about A gus over there.
Too he said he's in.
Speaker 16 (56:52):
There, yeah he's, ready he's all, set ready to. Go
jag five, dollars super.
Speaker 17 (56:55):
CHAT i Think frank can save our whole, line maybe
even the, season Super bowl or.
Speaker 7 (56:59):
Bus Frank ragnow definitely can help the offensive line out
if let's say he's let's say he's. Healthy let's say
He's Frank ragnow, healthy which is never one hundred percent fully.
Healthy if He's Frank ragnow, healthy he can help because
things will move. Over you Move Gleann gascott to a
position he's more. Confident Tel deck has been playing decent this.
Year Piney sue then can just worry about. Himself and
maybe Take rales helping.
Speaker 5 (57:20):
Out so, yes it will help you a little bit
on the offensive.
Speaker 7 (57:22):
Line but it goes back to What shep, Says Frank
ragnow does not play. Defense he doesn't play. Defense and,
also you got some glearn injuries on. Offense it's not
Like Frank ragnow is coming back to an offense that
was the offense he. Left there is No amar Rot,
brown there is No Sam. Laporter these are these are
a big. Situations so as much as it's great to
Have frank, back you Get Frank. Bracken you just Lost
(57:44):
Amara Saint, brown you Lost Sam laporter the week before.
That these are major contributors to what The lions have
been in the. Past and and though it sucks year
two years in a, row injuries, Injuries, uh let's let's.
Speaker 6 (57:58):
Bring in a mutual friend of, ours shall, We because
he's one of the best to have ever called football and.
Basketball he is our, Friend Gus. Johnson i've had the
great honor and pleasure of working with him for a long,
time AND i know he's a good friend of yours as.
Well the FORMER U. A. D cub it is and
it Is Gus johnson joining us as he gets ready
to Call michigan And Ohio State, gus hope you and
(58:19):
your family had a Great? Thanksgiving how are?
Speaker 5 (58:21):
You my?
Speaker 6 (58:21):
Friend is he?
Speaker 5 (58:23):
Frozen good?
Speaker 3 (58:24):
MAN i eat too?
Speaker 6 (58:25):
Much we hear, You, yeah we get hear.
Speaker 1 (58:29):
You got picked?
Speaker 4 (58:31):
Out was?
Speaker 3 (58:33):
Fun, YEAH i had a lot of fun with my.
Family we sat and watched The lions and, uh yeah
that was kind of a. Bummer but, uh you, know
Hopefully frank ragnow will come back and that'll give him a,
spark and And i'm and rag get. Healthy that ankle
will heal up overnight and and we keep moving, forward
(58:55):
uh and getting to playoffs and who knows what.
Speaker 6 (58:58):
Happens if that, happens we can all hope that would be.
Speaker 5 (59:01):
Great that's a big.
Speaker 4 (59:02):
If.
Speaker 7 (59:02):
Guys before we jump into The michigan, HOUSE i just
want to say appreciate you bro always always for having
my back joining the. Show watching The. Lions what have
you taken from The lions this? Season BECAUSE i know
you watched from a fire you're a Prior detroit as
you know three and three, whatever, though what have you
seen from The lions in their ten games where they're
now eleven game excuse, me where they're now seven and five.
Speaker 3 (59:21):
Twelve, well you, know two new. Coordinators we lost both our.
Coordinators we see how Well Ben johnson's. Doing, iago that's
a big, Loss Aaron, glenn big. Loss frank Rag now big.
Loss so it's a period of transition and other teams
(59:42):
have gotten. Better like you, Said Jordan love for touchdown
passes On Thanksgiving, DAY i mean it wasn't, perfect but very.
Effective SO i think we still have a great. Team
we have great coach and a GREAT gm AND i
(01:00:04):
just you, know this is my, team, Right, yeah so
like we're gonna be all, Right we're gonna figure this.
OUT i Just i'm not gonna start hating on my.
Team went through a little. DIVERSITY i, mean we've gone through.
Reversity Is lions fans for you, know some things we
choose not to. Remember SO i still think we got
(01:00:25):
team and our fans are behind, us are the team
rather and and, UH i think it's gonna turn out
alright in the. END i.
Speaker 7 (01:00:32):
Hope so one of the biggest things for, Me gus
Is i'm watching this. SEASON i feel like The lions
have been able to get away with not being a
good defensive team for the past two three. YEARS i
think they were so damn good on. Offense The lions
have put up magnificent numbers on, offense not including this,
season but to two and a half years prior. To and,
legitimately when you're putting up numbers like, that when you're
putting up points like, that that means the team on
the other side where they're. Doing they're passing all, game
(01:00:54):
they're playing to track. Me they know they're going after
a team that has scoring. Points when you play like,
that you're gonna make a lot of mistake is having
to pass the ball the whole. Game and you saw
a lot of good defensive players From Detroit. Lions because
the offense is putting up thirty, five thirty, seven thirty
eight every, Week Jared golf is breaking another, record is
breaking another.
Speaker 5 (01:01:10):
Record the offense has a whole of breaking. Records that's not.
Speaker 7 (01:01:13):
Happening and now that the offense has had some major,
injuries Say i'm reported most notably and Then i'm gonna
ride this, year the offensive line hasn't been the same
as what it is that. Defense more pressure gets put
on because now teams being able to run and, pass
they're not having to pass all game long trying to
keep up what The lions are, doing starting to see
that defense IS.
Speaker 5 (01:01:31):
I think what happened this? Year you see they really
weren't that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:33):
GOOD i, mean but you like earlier, injuries, MAN i,
MEAN i don't know what's with that turf In? Detroit
is it? Okay in for A? FIELD i don't know.
What just so many injuries over the last couple of. Years,
yeah so many. INJURY i, Mean i'm not seeing teams
get hurt like. THIS i. DON'T i don't. KNOW i
(01:01:56):
just you're an, Expert, Braylan i'm. Not i'm a fan
when it comes to My, lions AND i just it's
almost like we need to go into for field or
into the locker room or, something just kind of Like
sage it to get all the bad juju. Carrier once
we get to bad, juju maybe with some feeds or
(01:02:17):
some holy. WATER i don't, know because it's just.
Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
Bad it's just uh, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
WELL i don't believe in no curses with My. Lions it's.
Speaker 5 (01:02:28):
Sage, YEAH i, Know but you, KNOW i.
Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
Just be, talking. MAN i don't. Know, MAN i just
want to go to the Super. Bowl that's ALL i
want to get off this. List With cleveland and With
houston And. JACKSONVILLE i want to go to The Super.
Speaker 6 (01:02:42):
Bowl, Man i'm with you on. THAT i think we're
all with. You, yeah, amen, MAN i mean preach that's
exactly how we, feel especially since it's the only team
that's original Because cleveland was you, know obviously laughed and came,
back and the other two are our expansion. Teams you're getting,
ready uh for or the game. Tomorrow and you've done
a lot of promos on. This you've called a lot
(01:03:04):
of these. Games you've called a lot of massive games
in your broadcasting. Career how is this? Different how do
you feel differently when you prepare for a game like?
Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
This, well there's just so much on the. Line it's
just so. EXCITING i, Mean i'm just cited.
Speaker 4 (01:03:20):
To.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
You, know when it's all said and. Done my job
is to watch kids play, ball talk about, it report on.
It i'm a reporter just like. You. Ship you, know
me and you go back a lot of, ways a
long ways when we used to work together doing The lions, games,
sure the preseason, games you.
Speaker 6 (01:03:40):
Know baseball, Game tiger, Games tiger, games the redsides and
The Tigers Tiger. Stadium you AND i first started working ninety. Six,
yeah a long time.
Speaker 5 (01:03:48):
Ago look at you.
Speaker 3 (01:03:49):
Long it's just cool to get a chance to come
back home and watch the conference THAT i grew up
watching and the, teams you, know Watching michigan And Michigan
state In Ohio state. TOO i, mean you, KNOW i
(01:04:14):
spent a lot of time with these. Kids, besides you,
know these are good. Kids they're so, good are so.
Good our football players are just, leaders and they're positive
and hopeful and trained and. Brilliant SO i just think
(01:04:35):
that it's exciting.
Speaker 5 (01:04:38):
To.
Speaker 3 (01:04:38):
Watch and the talk we talked To ryan day to,
day that guy's got pressure on. Him, man if he
loses his game after winning the national, championship his base
is gonna talk about firing.
Speaker 5 (01:04:53):
Him but does that, Douse not to cut you, off
but does that matter anymore last year because AND i asked, question,
obviously last year they, lose then they win a national,
championship which, is at the end of the, day the.
Speaker 7 (01:05:04):
Goal back in the, day it used to be the
goal for them to Be. Michigan they could care less
about anything. Else now with the way the twelve team
playoff is and all that, jazz they could care less
about Meeting michigan if they still can control that?
Speaker 5 (01:05:17):
Destiny is there pressure For Ryan day to Beat? Michigan
are people talking about firing?
Speaker 3 (01:05:21):
Him, no they're not talking about firing him, today but
if he loses, tomorrow they, will and which is.
Speaker 18 (01:05:31):
Ridiculous, yeah the guy never loses to accept the one.
Team BUT i, think and this is my, opinion they
would rather Be michigan this year than win a national
championship because they won a national championship last.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
Year they want to win the national. Championship, yes but
the people In, ohio, man this is not sitting well with.
Them four streight espectly last year when they were the
number two ranked team in the, country playing.
Speaker 5 (01:06:04):
At home favorite twenty one and a, half.
Speaker 3 (01:06:07):
Favorite by twenty one and a, half and they scored what?
Speaker 5 (01:06:10):
Ten, yeah does this game?
Speaker 3 (01:06:12):
Happen michigan broke? Them?
Speaker 5 (01:06:15):
Yeah he.
Speaker 6 (01:06:15):
Did seems like they broke. Them, yeah they broke, them
don't they?
Speaker 3 (01:06:19):
Did Whatdy hayes used to always say that the definition
of toughness is who could hit the hardest the. Longest
and then he, Said Archie griffin told me. This he,
said it's like taking two walnuts in each hand and
smashing them, together the weaker one will. Break last four,
(01:06:40):
years it's Been Ohio.
Speaker 5 (01:06:41):
State that physical. Toughness, yeah that physical.
Speaker 7 (01:06:45):
Toughness michigan a lot that was tied into the identity
Of Mason, graham M Ckiendam. Grant last, YEAR yo watching
this deep watching This michigan, said The Michigan allions watching
the Wolver rings this? Year what have you seen from
them to be able to think that they can contend
with This Ohio state? Team, size the, rivalry the ideology
and ann. Arbor what have you seen with This michigan
team and thinks they can contend with This ohio's a
(01:07:06):
team that looks pretty good in my.
Speaker 5 (01:07:07):
Estimation.
Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
Belief they believe they can beat. Them M they believe
That Ohio state gets tight every time they See.
Speaker 6 (01:07:18):
Michigan mhm Fair do you do you notice? That can
you feel that when you're calling that? Game have you noticed?
That and and how did You how have you been
able to feel that from the?
Speaker 3 (01:07:31):
Booth like last, YEAR i didn't think that there was
any way That Ohio state would only score ten, points,
RIGHT i MEAN i. WAS i was, Flabbergasted LIKE i,
DIDN'T i Didn't Jeremiah, Smith, yeah, Exactly Arnelle, tate, Yeah Rayon, henderson,
(01:07:56):
Yeah Quinn Shawn judkins mm. Hmmm and they scored ten.
Speaker 2 (01:08:01):
Points BUT i just.
Speaker 3 (01:08:04):
Think that This michigan team that ws all said and
done when The rubber meets let me, see how CAN
i say this the right? Way michigan feels that their
team plays For. Michigan but they feel that when The
(01:08:26):
rubber meets to roll in in the in the in
the in the at that, point you, know brailing in the. Game,
yeah That ohio state plays for, individuals not for.
Speaker 5 (01:08:37):
Them, yeah the block.
Speaker 7 (01:08:40):
Off that's that was created By Erben meyer, though Like
Urban mayer create that culture of, individuality because so much
of it was we're bringing you to a house state
to be an. Individual we're going with the. Branding and
they had a brand LIKE i, know all the the
little jazz and things that they. Did they had a brand. Manager,
hey you come to your, house they will build your,
brand will build.
Speaker 5 (01:08:58):
You out On.
Speaker 7 (01:08:58):
Instagram we see you have a, file will take, that
we'll make that, bigger we'll put everything was building the
individual athlete and when you build that individuality over, time that,
theology that ideology took And Ryan day was left with
a bunch of individuals that were individuals they switched.
Speaker 3 (01:09:15):
That, yeah that's WHAT I that's what the that's what
the rumor on the street was last year for the
buck guys is that They as a matter of, fact
one of the coaches For michigan said he watched a
certain player score a touchdown and how none of his
guys came around him to say, out a, boy.
Speaker 4 (01:09:35):
That's.
Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
Crazy they remember, though they were the first one to
have a lot of a lot of.
Speaker 3 (01:09:42):
M.
Speaker 5 (01:09:42):
HM i was, saying they were the first one to
have a player, sorry they were the first player to
have a player be healthy and for go this whole
season so that he could prepare for THE Nfl. Draft.
Like they were the first team to have, that and
that was.
Speaker 3 (01:09:54):
IT i, MEAN i just that's WHAT i, See and
that's WHAT i think The michigan people.
Speaker 1 (01:10:03):
Believe.
Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
Now where they proved that this, YEAR i don't. KNOW i,
Mean Ohio, state they got a monsters on this. Team you,
know they got about four first round draft picks defense,
alone McDonald Styles Rvel reese have you Seen, YEAH.
Speaker 6 (01:10:27):
I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
Might be a first round draft. Pick and then you
go on offense and you've Got Carneal Tate Max, CLAIRE
nfl player is, Saying lamar Bo.
Speaker 5 (01:10:46):
JACKSON i don't even know his name Was lamar until.
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
Yesterday, yes and that what funny he got his name
is Bo.
Speaker 5 (01:10:53):
Lamar, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:10:57):
Daddy gave him. That but this, Margin so this kid's.
Speaker 5 (01:11:01):
Great It's julian saying the. TRUTH i, mean, like because
we've seen a ton of.
Speaker 3 (01:11:04):
Outset court one hundred, percent one hundred.
Speaker 5 (01:11:07):
Percent you knew WHERE i was going with.
Speaker 7 (01:11:08):
That we've seen the house state quarterback that can do
the rpo and play to five star.
Speaker 5 (01:11:12):
Wives he was all. Around but is he? Legit he's. Different,
yeah this kid's good.
Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
Man he got, touched he got, styled he got. Great
now he hasn't played in The Michigan ohio especially on the,
road so this he's a he's still a young.
Speaker 5 (01:11:30):
Player and and.
Speaker 3 (01:11:35):
You know everybody this is on the side of that offensive,
line right, guard everybody do. That so we're we're going
to See but that kid is nice like, that just
like the kid In. Michigan. Yeah Right underwood eighteen years. Old,
(01:11:59):
yeah the starting quarterback at The university Of michigan from day.
One it aired the job at seventy.
Speaker 6 (01:12:07):
Is that was a lot this, year to be, honest
and you got to go against Mat, yeah that's going
to be something. Else, jeez that's that to put it that,
way to go against to go against that many first
possible first round draft picks and a FORMER NFL dc
and you're eighteen years old and you know your first
Ever Ohio state, game that says an awful.
Speaker 5 (01:12:29):
Lot we know it's Gonna martindale has got to be major.
Too that's.
Speaker 6 (01:12:32):
True that's a good, POINT i mean To gus's, point Wink.
Martindale when when you know that it's going to be
as cold as it is tomorrow and it's supposed to,
snow that's the prognostication that it's going to snow a
little bit and it's going to be, cold and we
know the numbers in the running, Game how important do
you think special teams will be?
Speaker 1 (01:12:50):
Tomorrow?
Speaker 6 (01:12:51):
Gus knowing that over the last couple of games between
these two, teams the special teams game has Favored michigan
and has helped them out in both those.
Speaker 3 (01:12:59):
VEINS i was a good reporter, Today. Chep guess WHO
i talked to the only PERSON i wanted to talk
to WHEN i was At michigan.
Speaker 5 (01:13:07):
To death the weather, man, close, close, Close.
Speaker 3 (01:13:14):
Dominic, Zavada, yeah, oh there you, go the. Kicker the
wind patterns At Michigan, stadium because they're supposed to be
between ten and fifteen miles per hour wins. Tomorrow so
we literally sat there for a half. HOUR i drew
it a field on a piece of, paper and he
went over the wind patterns with. Me, wow he, said
(01:13:36):
when you're going to the north, end, no the, south
then If i'm standing in, front this is If i'm
this is WHERE i stand for.
Speaker 5 (01:13:44):
Call the game south to the.
Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
Right, okay he, Said, gus look at the. Flags if
the flags are blowing to the, left if both of
them are blowing to the, Left i'm gonna just If
i'm forty five yards and THEN i just want to
kick it to the. Middle that's gonna be my. Aim
he's a golfer, too so we kind of talked about
(01:14:09):
it in golfing, terms he. Said but you got to, Realize,
gus that even if the flags on top of the
goal posts are blowing to the, left there's still pockets
in the right corner and in the middle about midway
up on the uprights where the wind could be going either. Way,
(01:14:33):
wow he, SAID i kicked one from sixty eight in
my career in practice with the wind behind. Me BUT
i definitely kicked one from sixty three and sixty. One
SO i said to, HIM i, said you, know you
missed a bunch of field goals this. Year that's not like.
You he, said. WHY i said?
Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Why?
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
Man he was, like, Man i've been thinking about the
league and going to the league and doing WHAT i
need to do to go to the, league and it
kind of it kind of has gotten into my. Head
it's really these are really beautiful stories about these, kids
and you, know not only do they want to play
for their, team but you know they're looking down the
road and you know how it is where and you
(01:15:16):
know Fielding jaden fielding For Ohio. State he missed two
big ones last year at. Home, yeah, son he's got
to come Into Michigan. Stadium The Michigan, Stadium chef or
brailor don't you feel like at sometimes it feels like
Remember Giants stadium When Phil simms played there and the winds.
Speaker 15 (01:15:39):
Back?
Speaker 3 (01:15:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (01:15:44):
YEAH i think WHEN i got traded TO, uh WHEN
i got trade to The, jets we played in The
midlands for one last. Year SO i played in The
midlands for a. Year that win is ridiculous in Uh
november and In?
Speaker 5 (01:15:52):
December, like what is it like In michigan In?
Speaker 3 (01:15:56):
November?
Speaker 5 (01:15:57):
Brayley, oh you Know lloyd didn't throw the Ball, november
SO i don't.
Speaker 6 (01:16:00):
Know.
Speaker 7 (01:16:04):
Now i'm just looking at a broad scaled, Though, gus
outside of this, game just a paintbreast. Scale what are
you looking at in terms of the national champion this
year for THE Nc DOUBLE? A who are the four
teams if there are even four teams that you believe are?
There who are those four teams.
Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
For college?
Speaker 7 (01:16:22):
Football for college football we got. TWELVE i don't think
it's twelve good. TEAMS i think it's only about. Four
but who are the four teams that can win it?
All or are there twelve teams that.
Speaker 5 (01:16:29):
Can win it?
Speaker 3 (01:16:30):
OFF i Think Ohio state can win it. All, JACK
i Think indiana could win it.
Speaker 5 (01:16:39):
All, Wow, OKAY i think.
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
SO i Think georgia could win it. ALL i MEAN
i would have thrown in old. Missfoot you don't know
what the situation is before the playoffs for What i'm, Reading.
Speaker 5 (01:17:00):
Like what is that say THE ad gave him to
the end of this, week gave him to the end
of his game.
Speaker 6 (01:17:04):
Tonight, yeah they're blowing Out Mississippi state thirty eight Nineteen right,
now what About TEXAS a and M Gus would that
be the other?
Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
TEAM i haven't seen enough of, Them, okay BUT i
heard he got a nice quarterback down here.
Speaker 6 (01:17:17):
They, Do Marcell. Regent yeah he's good.
Speaker 3 (01:17:21):
A, coach el Cole don a good. Job you can
see that he knows what he's. Doing SO i wouldn't
put that past. THEM i, MEAN i tell you a
team you about to watch out, for and they might
roll up on everybody like Smooth. Criminals Is Texas. Tech
(01:17:41):
they got some dogs down, there.
Speaker 5 (01:17:42):
Man, yeah he got the bus defense money can. BUY
i have no quarterback.
Speaker 6 (01:17:46):
Though, Yeah i've seen them play a little. BIT i
think they're pretty. Good before we let you. Go IF
i made you commissioner of the Nc DOUBLE, a AND
i think they need. One people have talked About Nick
saban for. Football IF i made you the commiss in
THE ncaa, football what, changes or maybe the biggest change
would you make to the sport to make it have
(01:18:09):
more of a feel for what people used to love
about college.
Speaker 3 (01:18:13):
ATHLETICS i wouldn't make any. CHANGES i think it's perfect
the way it is right. Now, wow this is this
is that's old. School that's the. Past the past is.
History the future is a. Mystery so let's be where
our feet.
Speaker 6 (01:18:29):
ARE i like.
Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
IT i like the twelve teams. PLAYOFFS i like the
kids making. MONEY i love. IT i think it's great.
COMPETITION i think it's something about it that's really. Honest
for the first time in a long.
Speaker 5 (01:18:47):
TIME i don't.
Speaker 7 (01:18:49):
Mind i'm happy put players a getting, paid And i'm
happy with a lot of things in college. Football and
like you, said it does, evolved so you have to
keep evolving as well and.
Speaker 5 (01:18:56):
Stay with the. Times that's.
Speaker 7 (01:18:57):
Fine but the reason WHY i don't like twelve is,
legitimately there's twelve teams in the, playoffs, Right AND i
asked you to come up with a couple teams that
could win the national, championship and you came up with, three,
right and then a maybe. Four that's WHY i still
like the system where there was four, teams or even
THE bcs if you want to go back that.
Speaker 5 (01:19:12):
Far there is never gonna be a year WHERE i need.
Speaker 7 (01:19:15):
Twelve teams in the playoffs to decide who's the best
team in the, country like no more than, six LIKE
i think to decide because once you start getting to
the nine and twos and the ten and, twos and
then now also trying to maybe even, say depending on the,
brand we may even let a nine and three team in,
here depending on how it shakes. Up ain't no nine
to three teams deserving to be in the national championship
(01:19:35):
hunt for. Football it just never should have been that,
way like six, Teams, like give you one, loss you
got two?
Speaker 5 (01:19:42):
Losses you out of, Here like one loss is WHAT
i go.
Speaker 3 (01:19:45):
With it's just, Me, well let me hit you WITH
sa go, ahead you, Ready i'm gonna hit you with.
Speaker 16 (01:19:51):
Sulto bringing back on the screen for.
Speaker 5 (01:19:54):
It i'm.
Speaker 3 (01:19:54):
Ready the Ancient egyptians and the Ancient greeks felt that
the number twelve was the number of perfection and. Completion
now think about. It twelve members of the part THAT i,
(01:20:16):
yeah twelve tribes of judahm, hmm twelve months.
Speaker 5 (01:20:21):
In the, year.
Speaker 3 (01:20:23):
Twelve, jurors twelve. Disciples the. Year the day is broken
down into two periods of. TWELVE i think twelve is.
GOOD i think it's perfect and it's completely AND.
Speaker 6 (01:20:41):
I would buy that IF i didn't say they were
going to IF i didn't think they were going to
expand it. Again AND i think they are going to
expand it because twenty. FOUR i think it's a money.
Speaker 3 (01:20:50):
Grab, yeah twenty, Four.
Speaker 5 (01:20:54):
So all twenty four, teams.
Speaker 6 (01:20:57):
Twenty four would be comical because that's what they're.
Speaker 3 (01:21:00):
Thinking they are to make it like AN ncaa. Tournament
i'm telling you this because somebody told.
Speaker 5 (01:21:08):
Me, listen somebody that's up. THERE i get. It somebody.
Knows somebody.
Speaker 7 (01:21:11):
KNOWS i BELIEVE i twenty four twenty four. Teams you
just take away from what The national.
Speaker 6 (01:21:17):
Champions What i'm, hearing, yea as a good, REPORTER i
think it'll be twelve next year and then you watch it.
Explode BUT i do believe it'll be twelve again next.
Year that's What i'm. Hearing, anyway we can't wait to
hear you And Joe Clapp jennie Taff i hit you out.
Tomorrow you'll do a great. Job as, always we appreciate the.
Time all the best to you and your. Family, okay real,
(01:21:38):
Quick first of.
Speaker 17 (01:21:39):
All you were you've been in a irreplaceable staple of
my college football love from the day.
Speaker 16 (01:21:45):
One so thank you very. Much it is an honor
to talk to you guys for.
Speaker 17 (01:21:48):
Real you don't know how much this means to, me
BUT i got to ask you because last Year Mason
graham And Kenn grant made a statement on this game
and we're the factor which led them to. Victory who
are the players that are gonna have to have that
type of day to beat this juggernaut.
Speaker 16 (01:22:03):
Of An Ohio state.
Speaker 3 (01:22:04):
Team Rice, underwood.
Speaker 16 (01:22:08):
Perfect.
Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
Answer Start, Start start with. Him crippen mm. Hmm the
center he's, got he's the key for the offense to
me because he's got to deal with that big boy
in the middle.
Speaker 5 (01:22:28):
Two, yeah and that dude can.
Speaker 3 (01:22:31):
Play that dude's a first round draft.
Speaker 5 (01:22:33):
Pick.
Speaker 3 (01:22:34):
YEAH i think Hopefully jordan is, healthy but us the
way he played the last couple of weeks coming in
For Jordan northwestern and then employee played last, week incredible
(01:22:58):
to believe that linebackers BECAUSE i don't know if he's
gonna be. Around there's got to. Play Max claire is
a good. Player that tight end m h and they're
gonna try to run up on. Them so, YEAH i
mean they're gonna try to dictate the pace and, UH
(01:23:21):
i think those are the guys And zavada.
Speaker 1 (01:23:26):
To me.
Speaker 3 (01:23:28):
With that game, TOMORROW i have just a feeling in
my soul that the kicking game is gonna be. Huge
And michigan has the best kicker In. America he was
the first Team All american last. Year so that's a great.
Question AND i think For, Michigan sharon's got to make
(01:23:58):
sure he not only puts a in the right, position
but he gives them that spark motivationally when the game
is going to be hanging in the.
Speaker 1 (01:24:09):
Balance there it.
Speaker 6 (01:24:12):
Is, yeah because somebody brought this up to.
Speaker 5 (01:24:14):
Me they, said.
Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
Because of the twelve team playoff and because of What
Ohio state does rather last, year what happens if the
Buck eyes get?
Speaker 1 (01:24:30):
Down?
Speaker 3 (01:24:34):
Do they just? Say we still got a lot of
football to. Play so the, PSYCHOLOGICALLY i just think that it's.
Interesting don't you think it's? Interesting it's just so, Interesting
and excuse me for nerding out, here But i'm a
nerd when it comes to. Football, also it's so interesting
(01:24:56):
that the psychology of tomorrow's, game and on top of,
it it's gonna be cold and.
Speaker 6 (01:25:05):
Windy it's a factor can't deny.
Speaker 3 (01:25:09):
That julia said is From.
Speaker 16 (01:25:10):
California you're gonna have some barbecue. Tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:25:16):
Gus you KNOW i stopped eating. You oh, MAN i
had to. Stop i'm fifty eight years.
Speaker 6 (01:25:23):
Old.
Speaker 3 (01:25:24):
Man let me tell you, nowadays WHEN i eat, barbecue
the devil comes to see me at three o'clock in the,
morning and it's its name is, heartburn and that sucker
sits right on top of my chest and it, says,
see you knew you shouldn't have eaten that, barbecue so
you wanted to come see. Me so HERE i. Am
(01:25:46):
and you know you're not gonna be able to get
rid of this until about, noon so, yeah you're.
Speaker 6 (01:25:52):

problems doesn't mean you're dogging on. Them it means you're

first you've got the one hundred and twenty first all
time meeting Between michigan And Ohio. State michigan has won
ten of the last eighteen at. Home this history dates
back to eighteen ninety. Seven eighteen ninety. Seven how about
(01:30:57):
that you felt this? Personally all? Right you have done this.
Yourself there is a, difference is there? Not and if,
so tell me the biggest difference when you're playing a
game like this compared to any other game on your, Schedule.
Speaker 7 (01:31:15):
Like playing Again Ohio state was always different because it
was like similar, schools similar, energy similar, facades similar All.
Americans like the strength of our teams were sim. Similar
they were strong as hell at the point of. Attack
we were strong at the point of. Attack always gonna
have good running backs on both, sides and you're gonna
have playmakers all.
Speaker 5 (01:31:34):
Around you gonna have good coaches in this, riery. Man
but it's just the. Intensity it's one of the few
times where you really represent the.
Speaker 7 (01:31:42):
Past it's one of the really times where the past
is held on two by the present and you're continuously
fighting that battlem and you're Fighting Ohio state of vote
WHEN i used to line up in the. GAMES i
see those guys on the, sideline on The Ohio state,
sideline you see A Chris carter Or Eddie george or
you see An Archie. Griffin you see those guys and you're, like,
Man i'm about to give it to these boys to.
DAY i WISH i could have played against. YOU i
(01:32:03):
look At Sean springs lining. UP i look at some
of those, Dbs Joey, GALLOWAY i was having conversations with.
Speaker 5 (01:32:10):
HIM i was, like, MAN i would have loved to
play it against you and like test my metal and
see it just it's just what the rivalry. Is the
rivalry really leans on the. Pass how these conversations with my, father,
man you get to you see him getting close the
eyes and taking you back.
Speaker 7 (01:32:22):
Down you know the journey of what the game was
and what those moments. Are it's it's it's it's tough
to describe.
Speaker 6 (01:32:29):
It how would you when when younger, players whether they're
from the state Of michigan or, not when younger players
ask you about, this what DO i need to do
to prepare for? This what would you how would you answer.
Speaker 7 (01:32:41):
That you gotta get a lot of, rest you gotta
get a lot of rest for that. Game, no but
just don't try to do anything, special like that's what
the game isn't. About like the guys or the teams that,
win they're not trying to do anything. Special they're just
doing what's. There they're doing what they saw on. Film
they're doing what they trust from, Practice they're doing what they,
Taught they're doing working with what got them, there the ability.
Speaker 5 (01:33:04):
And what they.
Speaker 7 (01:33:04):
Are you don't do anything much when you start trying
to play to the. Game oh, man it's the House state.
GAME i GOTTA i gotta do, this SO i have
to not and drop the. Past you know What i'm saying,
NOW i forgot to. Play you know Now i'm trying
to do Somebody Now i'm, fumbling you know What i'm
saying when that's not WHAT i. Do just do what
you typically. Do what got you To, michigan what got
you to your, record what got you guys to this?
(01:33:25):
Space operate within.
Speaker 6 (01:33:27):
That that can be easier said than, done, Though brelan,
right because everybody wants to shine on the brightest, stage
and this is the brightest. Stage how do you prevent?
That how do you make sure you're not trying to
do too. Much it's, difficult isn't.
Speaker 7 (01:33:43):
IT i, mean just exactly WHAT i, said do the
things that you're. Taught just going a game and be,
regular like it's it's no reason to change who you.
Are and once you get hit the first time you realize,
that oh it's you, know they hit the same As,
iowa or they hit the same as you Play. Oklahoma
but it's after it's the, losses it's the. Wins that's
(01:34:05):
when you know it's the.
Speaker 6 (01:34:06):
Difference, Okay so you've had a chance to Watch michigan
all year, long AND i, know being a football junkie
that you, are you've Watched Ohio. State what will be
vital For michigan to win? Tomorrow do you think that
point of?
Speaker 5 (01:34:20):
Attack? Yeah like the point of. Attack obviously we know
about how good the wide receivers, are so you can
say the dbs and you would be. Right but it's
the point of.
Speaker 7 (01:34:26):
Attack like if they can't put any pressure On julian,
saying then they're in. Trouble and if they can't protect
For Bryce, underwood they're in. Trouble it's the point of.
Attack The Detroit lions And michigan have mirrored each other
in my opinion in the last couple of. Years like, really,
Well i've always said that they mirror each other because
the strengths are the same.
Speaker 5 (01:34:42):
Strengths what you see out of The lions is what
you've seen a little bit out.
Speaker 7 (01:34:46):
Of michigan this year in terms of the offensive line
they got to come to, play and that defensive line
they got to put pressure on the. Quarterback the line
of scrimmage is literally it's going to determine the.
Speaker 6 (01:34:57):
Game michigan is twenty, four twenty three and four when
both teams are ranked in the top twenty, five twenty,
four twenty four to twenty three and, four so they
are a game above the break even when Both michigan
And Ohio state are. Ranked we don't think That Ryan
(01:35:19):
day can be dumb enough and stubborn enough to do
what he did a year. Ago it's Like Gus johnson
is just telling, US i, mean come, on you've got
those guys on the outside and you're not throwing to.
Them knowing that COULD i argue That michigan's offense could
be its defense's best friend, tomorrow putting up, points keeping
(01:35:40):
their offense off the field off the.
Speaker 7 (01:35:42):
Field, yeah, sustaining, drives moving and. Chains because what happens
in a game like, tomorrow or excuse, me a game like.
Tomorrow you talk about the, win you talk to not the.
Win you talk about the, weather the. Conditions the Longer
julian sand in an, OFFENSE i, see, NOW i can
break this. Down when you're sitting on the sideline and
it's a twenty five degree day and it's, cold like
(01:36:02):
your body tends to cool. Off when your body tends
to cool, off it tightens. Up the, muscles they tighten,
up they can they. Restrict and now the more time you,
spend the tireder you, are the tire you are tire Ut,
now the let the more time it takes the warm,
up so when you get out, there it takes a,
second and those seconds lead to three and, outs those
seconds leading in and turn.
Speaker 5 (01:36:21):
Things of that. Nature so the longer you can keep
them off the, field the more tight they'll.
Speaker 7 (01:36:26):
Be BECAUSE i tell you a. Secret sheep riding that.
Bike you see people riding the stationary but that's not
the end all be. All, yeah the stationary bike is
not the thing that's gonna. Happen, no it's running routes
on the, sideline running up and down, sprints, stretching and
the typical athlete doesn't do.
Speaker 5 (01:36:39):
That so these games like, this that's where you extend.
Drives keep that offense, tight you, know cuz tirer you.
Speaker 7 (01:36:47):
Are hamstrings get, tight And Jeremiah, smith we see what
hamstrings look Like.
Speaker 6 (01:36:52):
Brailand, tomorrow When michigan squares off Against Ohio, state we
know the Buck eye are number. One michigan is number
fifteen in the latest college football playoff. Rankings, okay so
they're number. Fifteen, yeah there are six teams ahead of
them with two losses at least two. Losses there are
some that are have one, losses BUT i don't think
(01:37:12):
that's who they're. Competing, guys if they Beat Ohio state,
tomorrow do you think they're in the top twelve for
the college football?
Speaker 5 (01:37:19):
PLAYOFFS i think. So, OKAY i think.
Speaker 6 (01:37:25):
So is that deserve it in your?
Speaker 5 (01:37:26):
Mind, yes when you break it, down you can tell
me all you want to.
Speaker 7 (01:37:30):
ABOUT i guess the scheduling a play anybody and didn't
have any significant.
Speaker 5 (01:37:35):
Win it will be a significant win Against Ohio.
Speaker 7 (01:37:37):
State be the most impressive win of the season for. Anybody,
correct for any team will be a house. State and
then you look at it this. Way the two teams
you lost, to, well now they're also in the top, twelve,
right so when you look at it that, way, yeah
you play some stinkers and it didn't look good Against
oklahoma OR. Usc BUT Usc oklahoma are both in the top,
twelve and you have beat the number one team in
the top, twelve like that is a.
Speaker 6 (01:37:56):
Resume, Actually i'm sorry us if you runs behind them
because they've lost three. Games So Ohio state is us
he is probably. Out oh, YEAH i mean it's. Good
it was a justifiable loss at the. TIME i, think you,
know The oklahoma ONE i thought originally might come back
to haunt. Them you said they were going to have
(01:38:17):
two losses this year before the season, began you said two.
Losses you Thought oklahoma was one and there was going
to be another one in. There let's see if you're.
Right michigan can make sure you're. Right ole miss one
earlier today thirty eight to. Nineteen michigan has a chance
to do that again tomorrow when we come. Back Jeff,
Pierce Doctor Jeff, pierce we will talk about the Aman,

Oh, boy come, on come, on just enjoy the. Family,
well you got a beautiful, family a daughter who can
golf and hit the hell out of the. Ball and
you're worried about The. Lions for crying out loud all.
Right speaking of The, lions, though Aman Raj Saint brown
was injured in the first quarter with an ankle. Injury
what's your concern with the ankle Injury for a guy
of that statue and a guy who plays that, position.
Speaker 5 (01:46:46):
It's a lot we can get into.
Speaker 16 (01:46:47):
Right so talk talk more into the mic a lot
we can get.
Speaker 5 (01:46:52):
Into how about?
Speaker 4 (01:46:52):
That were?
Speaker 5 (01:46:54):
Good all? Right no one on the. MIC i want
you in the.
Speaker 6 (01:47:00):
Mic, okay Well i'm gonna give him my. Mic here
we go put it.
Speaker 4 (01:47:05):
On all.
Speaker 14 (01:47:06):
Right so bottom, line we saw the INJURY i was
ACTUALLY i was FORTUNATE i was. There didn't look like
a whole. Lot you, know people rolled up on, him
so that could be. Anything fortunately we did not hearing
anything about a, Fracture so worry about. Ligament the thing,
is there's multiple. STRAINS i think if we put the
anatomy of the ankle, up you're going to see how
much anatomy is in. There you've always asked, ME i
think even asked me last, week what's the worst injury
(01:47:28):
That i'm concerned. About it's recovering from an, ankle.
Speaker 5 (01:47:31):
And then we have this.
Speaker 14 (01:47:32):
Happen, so you, know like we've talked about, saying he's
a smaller, guy he's got a different, game what kind of.
Game he's, quick he's, cut he you, know he depends
on his speed and his.
Speaker 5 (01:47:44):
Skill he's not.
Speaker 14 (01:47:45):
Overpowering he's not gonna be an overpowering. Player so when
you talk about ankle sprains or. Injuries you, know there's
the regular ankle spring that we hear about this high ankle.
Spring what does that? Mean and we talk about the.
Anatomy you're talking about different anatomy being. Affected so when
you're looking at, it and we're gonna get this picture
up sim but, basically the ankle is a very mobile.
Speaker 5 (01:48:06):
Joint.
Speaker 14 (01:48:06):
Right you have the, talus you have the, tibia the,
fibula and then the talus which is the cup of
the of the ankle bone which kind of everything feeds.
Into and then there's all this dynamic movement of ankles and.
Injuries so this is just the bony. Part so we
start talking about. This this is obviously the outside of the.
Inside we talk about what's the most common you have
(01:48:27):
more common for the outside part of the, ankle which
is where the fibula bone. Is we talk About, hashinson
you talk about tip fractures up. Here and then there's
all these bones that make us dance and go crazy
and move quickly and the quickness of.
Speaker 3 (01:48:42):
It so these are all.
Speaker 5 (01:48:44):
Where everything comes. Together we're talking about high. Ankle we're
talking at high up there.
Speaker 6 (01:48:48):
Between the, tibia so you're talking about the fibula and the. Tibia,
okay for the high, Ankle, okay we're now.
Speaker 4 (01:48:54):
Worried you, know this is the.
Speaker 14 (01:48:56):
Latter so that's the, outside which is the most common
when you roll your ankle's we're talking about.
Speaker 5 (01:49:01):
When you get rolled up.
Speaker 14 (01:49:02):
On when you get rolled up, on you're always worried
about this kind of anatomy and what's being. Done so
there's all these ligaments that you can't see here and
all like between every one of these little, bones you're seeing,
ligaments and then there's muscle on top of. It so
there's a lot of anatomy going. On so when he
couldn't come, back when we heard he tried up until
the third quarter of coming, back you, know this guy
(01:49:24):
wanted to get back on the. Field so that's where
it becomes more concerning that does he have a high ankle?
Sprain is there a, Fracture is there a? Tear you,
know we haven't even talked about a possible. Tear there's
so many little things to tear. Here and then we're
talking about longer. Recovery campbell came out and, said we
feel like it's a short. Recovery he's talking about the
two week time. Frame so two week time, frame Like
(01:49:47):
i've always, said is a mild. Strain if he is
a high inkle sprain, strain what's the. Difference it's different
parts of the. Anatomy so when you start talking about
what's the, inflammation how they can control, It he's gonna be.
Welcomed he's going to have, everything everybody pushing for. Him
he'll have secret sauce, going you, know and he's got
that common. Anatomy but then it gets down to Like
(01:50:08):
braylan was, saying what about his, size his style of?
Games this guy can recover and be a real impact,
player you know. FIRSTHAND a lot of times we'll use
him as a decoy even, right you, know Use kennedy
and these other young guys coming. Up but when you
start talking about his, size he pushes, off you, know
like a bigger, guy like A. Braylen he can push.
(01:50:30):
Off he can use a lot more of his. Body
so when we talk about there's different gears we play, in,
right so we'll call fifth gear is our top. Gear
can Say brown come out playing in his third and fourth,
gear he may not be as impactful as like A
Braylen edwards coming. OUT i can push out you, know
he's just just genetically. Larger his game has been developed.
(01:50:52):
Differently he's strong as. Hell you, know he can bench
and lift and lake. Press but the thing, is when
you've got a guy that's covering, you it's four or
five inches, taller you're kind of the little guy getting
to look at, me little guy.
Speaker 5 (01:51:04):
Getting around that and that's his.
Speaker 6 (01:51:07):
Game, okay can he have that?
Speaker 14 (01:51:09):
Quickness is he gonna be a step? Off he's going
to be a step. Off he's gonna lose his, speed
and that quickness is what makes his. Game so that's
one he's got to. Recover, two we got to make
sure that he's gonna be. OKAY i know THE mri
was done, today which we're not hearing, anything SO i
don't think anything terrible is going. On but that sprain
is kind of game. Time what HAVE i talked. About
(01:51:31):
you can tape up an, ankle you can recover from an.
ANKLE a high ankle sprain is a little bit more
difficult because the boot of the. Ankle you can pretty
much create a taping, boot which you know we've done,
before and then he's. Powerful but as you eliminate that
movement of the ankle and an ankle's moving ten different.
Directions when you start taping, it you get like three.
(01:51:53):
Directions so that's gonna you, know he's got to get
comfortable there. Too so, look he's got football smarts for anybody,
else which is gonna be always the key factor to.
Him but his anatomical play and his gear if he
gets out of fourth, gear that's.
Speaker 6 (01:52:10):
Good, YEAH i appreciate. That, yeah that's really good.
Speaker 7 (01:52:12):
Stuff it's gonna be interesting to see man with The frank. Rag,
now just going back to, that, like what do you
expect From?
Speaker 5 (01:52:17):
FRANK i love.
Speaker 14 (01:52:18):
IT i think it's the most positive. NEWS i, mean
DO i want to jump on the. Bandwagon there's no.
Bandwagon it's the. Truth i'm not jumping on The frank.
Speaker 6 (01:52:26):
Rag, now you have a lot of, injuries dock is
What bradley's talking. About we're talking about Tow we're talking
about thron pectorial. Muscle there's a lot for him to
come back.
Speaker 5 (01:52:33):
From, yeah but how much is? That how much is?
Speaker 7 (01:52:36):
That WHEN i said when we did the Show wednesday
and we found, out one of the big THINGS i
said is the rest that he has dealt with not,
retiring not playing this, offseason not having to do with,
that not having to load up and put.
Speaker 5 (01:52:48):
On cleats and do the song and dance that will
play well for.
Speaker 14 (01:52:51):
Him every one of those injuries aren't career, ending, Right
it's all.
Speaker 5 (01:52:56):
Rest i've said it. Before he's been able to. Rest this.
Speaker 14 (01:52:59):
GUY i was, LIKE i got to take care of my.
Body let's see what. Happens take the pressure off the media.
Everything did he play? US i don't think he played.
US i think he played. Himself it's like IF i
rest AND i let my body, recover Which i've never.
Done the guy didn't have any. Mentality they're, Like i'm
gonna go sit out three games and See, NO i
gotta be there On sunday for my. Guys that's a
(01:53:19):
locker room mentality that he, brings which is definitely needed right.
Now somebody needs to like spirit up that locker. Room
LIKE i said, before we need like a brave heart
lecture in the locker room with these. Wells BUT i
mean that's a mental. PART i Mean i'm being, funny
but you need to do stuff like. That ragna is
going to bring that. Right i'm not worried about all these.
(01:53:40):
Injuries everything is. Recoverable these are, rest, heal and, behave
AND i think he's done. Everyone AND i think he's
done everyone to the point that he did special. Training
does he have people training, Him, yeah for, sure he's
he's looking at a contract at the end of a.
Business ragne is, no If i'm gonna come, back.
Speaker 6 (01:54:00):
That's two years left on the. Contract. Huh that's so
that's good this, year next.
Speaker 14 (01:54:04):
Year, Okay so is there money About ragnar's for the
purity of the. GAME i can say, That but is
that in the back was, Said i'm gonna be. HEALTHY
i don't want to get. Reinjured i'm not coming back
to be re.
Speaker 1 (01:54:14):
Injured.
Speaker 5 (01:54:15):
Right this guy's.
Speaker 6 (01:54:16):
Smart, Okay, so so the bottom line those injuries that he,
suffered that he's not more susceptible to. Them the toe
injury which really caused him the, retirement the pectoral muscle,
tear and the knee, injury those are Not it doesn't
make him more, susceptible is what you're.
Speaker 14 (01:54:32):
Saying, no, OKAY i am saying that because my my
number one risk factor for any injury is a previous.
Injury i'm saying this guy SAID i need to, RECOVER
i need to spend time on my. BODY i want
to see how it. Reacts i'm feeling pretty. Good i'm.
Reacting i've challenged. It he didn't make a decision to come,
back SO i feel. Better i'm coming off the. Couch,
Yeah i'm done with my my you, know ice cream
(01:54:54):
on the weekends type of.
Speaker 6 (01:54:55):
Thing but sounds like us.
Speaker 14 (01:55:00):
It's A turkey. Day but, YEAH i think, No I'm
i'm betting on the. Positive LIKE i said to my,
Thing i'm looking to talk a lot about his, success
the difference he. Shifts he he's like, putting you, know
a good fourth, batter you, know the our number four
batter in, there and everybody else just gets better around.
HIM i think golf's gonna be more. CONFIDENT i just
think he brings a. Level it's so it's not just
(01:55:22):
we got a centiment. Back this an all pro. Player
he brings a chemistry, back, RIGHT.
Speaker 5 (01:55:27):
I mean that locker.
Speaker 14 (01:55:27):
Room they love his, chemistry they love his. Mentality i'm
very positive on. It and as far as the, injuries,
yes he's got to worry about re. Injuries he's gotta
worry about the. Toe BUT i think with a ten month,
layoff ten to eleven, months what it is he's all
those things have. Healed there's no long Term the peck
muscle is. Torn he didn't have it certainly, repaired but
(01:55:48):
you get hyperch for, you you get thickening of that.
Muscle And i'm sure he's done enough push ups and
working out that he feels strong enough to go and
His and you can't ever give little to the football. Mentality,
Right he's got football, motelnity he's got football. Smarts he
knows how to roll those. Guys he knows how to
communicate to the younger players and give him. Leadership that's.
(01:56:12):
HUGE i can't be love the.
Speaker 6 (01:56:13):
POSITIVITY i, Mean doc being here earlier today would have
maybe changed my whole. MINDSET i appreciate. That, yeah that's
that's a beautiful. Thing you're not, Big, Well i'm big on.
It it was my favorite player. Before but he doesn't play, Defense,
Doc so as much AS i want him to make a,
difference he will. Offensively their their problem the last two
(01:56:35):
weeks has not been scoring. Points it's been preventing. Points
and if he could be a nose tackle or a
more of an edge, Rusher i'd be happy as, Hell
but he's, not so we'll have to wait and see.
Speaker 14 (01:56:45):
WELL i mean there's the locker room. IMPACT i think
he'll have an impact on both sides of the of the. Ball,
okay THAT'S i, mean it's JUST i want you back
here next. Week we're going to talk And I'm i'll
be before the.
Speaker 6 (01:56:57):
Game But i'll be happy to eat, Crow, okay BECAUSE
i ate some really good leftovers From Braylan's thanksgiving earlier.
Today the crow will take the Kro the crow will
taste just as. Good all, Right so.
Speaker 14 (01:57:09):
THANKS i THINK i think you're gonna see it change
in that locker. ROOM i Think campbell needs. Them everybody needs.
THEM i, Mean Dan campbell looks. WHIPPED i mean when
you see him just mentally, whipped and you Can't there's
only so much you can put in your, head so
many things you can take care. Of he's trying to
take care.
Speaker 4 (01:57:26):
Of all of.
Speaker 6 (01:57:26):
It it's a lot of. Responsibility he needs. Help, well
you always help. Us, Thanks, doc appreciated. Man always good
