exclusive interviews, and a fresh perspective on the sports you love.
Speaker 1 (00:35):
Don't listen only on.
Speaker 5 (00:36):
The sports networks.
Speaker 6 (00:43):
Everybody loves Let's Go. You can tell a kool aix bak.
Speaker 5 (00:48):
You know what.
Speaker 6 (00:49):
One of the many things I love about this show,
there's a lot, but one of the many things is
it is forcing me to branch out. It's forcing me
to expand. I'll give you a simple example. Smoothie Kings
joining us as a sponsor and Smoothies king At make
some really good stuff. But every time I go in there,
(01:10):
I get the same thing. Every time I get strawberry banana. Okay,
Braylin kind enough with Smoothie Queen King to bring us
some different smoothies today. So he gives he's got a
four pack and he's got cinnamon banana, something that had
green in it.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Grind.
Speaker 7 (01:30):
Did you get that one?
Speaker 6 (01:31):
I got that one? You got that one? Okay, yours
is what I have, the Nutty super Green, the Nutty
super Green. And I took this one, but I took
it more all because the other two were deleted in
my brain and I thought, Okay, maybe I really like it.
So it's forced me to expand my horizons and now
(01:51):
I like something that I probably wouldn't have tried before.
Speaker 7 (01:53):
So thank you for let's go.
Speaker 8 (01:54):
I'm glad you're expanding horizon, but you're not. You're not
incorrect completely because every king needs a queen, so Smoothie King.
But Smoothie King definitely has a queen as well. No,
we appreciate the partnership. You know, we just saw a vision.
They revamp their menus as of late, and they want
to show people in the community what they're doing, how
healthy is. They take it very serious. So we got
some of those things. All their products very healthy and
(02:15):
they're very good for you. So appreciate the partnership and
also can't wait till you guys see Athlete of the
Week brought to you by Smoothie King. That'll be every Friday,
we will have an athlete from around the state that
we will have vetted the process and they will become
our athlete of the week due to what they do
on and off the field, the court, whatever, and it
will be multiple different athletes. It won't just be football,
(02:37):
won't just be basketball. It'll be all types of sports. Volleyball, basketball, baseball.
We will have those for you on Fridays. So it's
gonna be fun, excited partnership.
Speaker 6 (02:46):
Man.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
It more and more and more.
Speaker 8 (02:48):
To come from Smoothie King and Wolves.
Speaker 6 (02:49):
Yeah that's a beauty, yes, Smoothie King, but it's gonna
be if it's always not gonna be a male, It
could be a female. That's why sometimes obviously it's Smoothie King,
but she can be Queen.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
For the week.
Speaker 8 (03:02):
I just stopped there.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
It gets a little tricky, Yeah it does, It gets
a little.
Speaker 9 (03:06):
Can I also highlight the Smoothie King chocolate covered almonds?
Those those might be the greatest things.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
I had.
Speaker 9 (03:14):
I got through half the bag and I had to
put them away because I was gonna go through the
whole bag of chocolate olves.
Speaker 8 (03:19):
But those are very very good as well.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
They are good.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
You left him right here in my seat, and I
had to make sure that I had enough will power
to push it away. So how you doing on this
on this Tuesday. The Tigers are doing just fine. The
king so far has been Terrek Schouble, but also also
Spencer Torkolsen because of his ability to drive in the
game's first run.
Speaker 8 (03:38):
Yeah, that was that was a crazy play to just happen.
But I've been good watching the game. Obviously, they score
very fast due to h Carry Carpenter as well as
Spencer Torgason. Score fast, and he looked good and error
help them a little bit. First two winnings from school,
they look really good, look dominant. He got in, he
got out, he looked good. So the Tigers look good
right now. But I'm dealing with something show Okay, I'm
(03:59):
dealing with something for those out there, we want to
we want to find out what you guys want to
talk about, because we know the Tigers are on right now.
They're winning currently one all against the Guardians. Do you
want to talk about that because it's on you watch
or do you want to talk about football? Because we
got a lot to talk about with the Detroit Lions
as well as around the NFL. Some news, just small
stuff from last night, not too much. But you let
us know, kool aid. Maybe throw that in a poll
(04:21):
in the chat. You want to talk about the Tigers,
you want to talk about the lines in the NFL.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
Help me with this. Speaking of last night, Okay, thumbs
up or thumbs down on Miami's uniformsm I like them.
Thumbs down.
Speaker 9 (04:34):
I couldn't stand them, said my dad said the same thing,
was exactly.
Speaker 8 (04:36):
How I feel like I'm at this age, and which
is kind of what my conversation with Well, I'm on
the team, I'm on the team. I feel like I'm
at an age where I've looked at certain things long
enough where they should look something like that. And what
I mean by that is when you're talking uniforms, like
the Dolphins have messed their uniforms up for the last
fifteen twenty years, just continuously taken away, whether it's the color,
(04:58):
whether it was the dolphin thing peeded for that by
the way, So I like it to have some sense
of what it is that black until it reminds me
of when Michigan State has all these funky ideas about
changing their uniform. I never I never knew why Michigan
State went the neon green. I know Oregan was doing it,
but that's not your color green.
Speaker 6 (05:17):
That's not what you do.
Speaker 8 (05:18):
Michigan State just called a shot. My apologies, but I
never liked that green stuff, and I never liked when
they did their uniforms that way.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
But you liked You like the tradition, tradition.
Speaker 8 (05:28):
You like the traditional, like when you add, like add
some nuances to it, but still keep elements of the
the tradition. So the dolphins like the black, and you're
doing too much, especially for you to be that bad
prayers too much.
Speaker 6 (05:44):
Hey, listen to kill though that was a nasty issue.
I wanted to tell you about that. I wanted to
ask you about it. I wouldn't I wouldn't mind the
black Miami uniforms if it was either the jersey or
the pants. But I can't handle the black on black.
I don't even like the Ravens black. I'm black. I
don't like the Lions blue on blue.
Speaker 8 (06:05):
Okay, So if you're gonna make it black top, what
do you make white pants with a till with the
till stripe or gray?
Speaker 6 (06:12):
Maybe? I don't know. Those are tough colors. But I
gotta be honest with you. I think it's a really
hard color to deal with. But I'm with you on
on Miami's logo. It's brutal. I'm not asking I know,
I'm not asking you to go back to the Larry
Zonk and Bob Greasy face masks. Okay, Bob Greasy had
a face mask like you know that Big Larry Zanka
had the the you right there, But that logo is
(06:35):
what you should have, I think if you're the Miami Dolphin,
I agree. That's why I didn't like it. So I
get it.
Speaker 8 (06:41):
It's Miami there. You think Miami, you think that they
do things like that, So I understood it. I didn't
have a problem from that point of view, but it
was ugly, like it's okay saying you missed, and I
just believe that they missed.
Speaker 6 (06:53):
Cleveland's got two runners on nobody out in the bottom
of the fourth year mirrors. I agree with you, man,
I mean, but speaking of Tyreek Hill and I can't
full disclosure, not a huge fan. I never want to
see a great athlete get hurt. I never seen anybody
get hurt, but especially a great athlete that was nasty.
That was It wasn't Joe Theisman, Tim Cumrae like, but
(07:17):
it was wicked and for him to be carted off
in that type of mood tells me he's a pretty
strong cat man.
Speaker 8 (07:25):
Also too, he's probably not looking down. He's probably out
of it. And it's one of those things where it's
just sometimes sometimes you don't feel certain injuries and you're
able to stand in the moment because you're in shock,
and the shock lasts longer than the pain you feel.
So by the time they get you booted up for
some drugs in you or figure it out, like now
(07:46):
you can realize what your leg is. I'll never remember.
I can't think of the guy's first name, but he
played for a Louisville where you could see the bone
in his and he was remember, he was just he
was chilling the whole time as we're watching his leg
dangle on the board like that one. I remember Sean Livingston,
I remember his underneath the board, Paul George's underneath the boards,
(08:07):
Gordon Hayward, Willis mcgahe'es. I remember watching that live National Championship.
Speaker 6 (08:13):
Watch that ugly one.
Speaker 8 (08:14):
But speaking of college football, Chep, I had my boys
coming to town for the Wisconsin game this week, misig
takes some.
Speaker 6 (08:21):
I thought we were your boys.
Speaker 8 (08:22):
Well, but there's different kind of boys. You're one version
of a crew, you know. This is the guys that
I went to school with. Man, these guys went to
University of Michigan with me. So they're all in town
this week and they're all hit me up and it's
all like, hey, look, man, what we're doing. We mean,
what we're doing going to the game. Yeah, I'll be
up there anyway. I gotta work to do. No, it's
it's homecoming, Okay, it's homecoming. I really never do the
(08:42):
homecoming thing because I don't I don't know, like I
don't have people look forward to going back to school
and catching up with all their friends. I see my
friends year round, and I don't.
Speaker 6 (08:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (08:53):
It's just the other day.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
So the people you see the people you want to see,
and you're good with that. You don't mind your other
crew coming in. But you don't need homecoming for that
to have.
Speaker 8 (09:04):
Never have a going to homecoming, Vince, I've been going,
and there's the purpose.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
Twenty years. They said, this is my twentieth reunion from
Universe Miskian where the time went by fast isn't it
twenty years this one thing? High school? You know you're
getting old with that.
Speaker 8 (09:17):
Hey, thank thank you over there self, this was shelved.
This is twenty years ago. I wasn't even wearing number one.
I'm not even wearing one hair twenty years ago. I
gotta go to my Reunion's one thing when you say
high school, oh it's the twenty Okay, it buys you
four or five years. Now it's twenty from college. Man,
I'm getting up there.
Speaker 6 (09:36):
Man, all right, so who's coming in? And now that
maybe changes your mind, just the wee bid on the
activities that you might do, or your enthusiasm for those activities.
Schoob By the way back to back strikeouts and then
just a bad play on the infield. They're going to
check that. I think he's underneath it. He might him
(09:57):
at the place. So what it was a little bit
bouncer just over school's head, A little bouncer over his head.
Nobody could come in and feel that cleanly. Schoobl picked
it up, turned through home runner trying to go from
second to home, and Martinez was thrown out. We'll see
what happens on the report.
Speaker 8 (10:14):
I'm trying to think it's safe, but I'm not trying
to do the corny stuff like get with the guys,
go back to ann Arbor and run around town all night,
drinking and fronic and trying to relive what we did
twenty years ago, hanging out the dorms Like, no, thank you,
I'm just not interested in that.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
Okay, but you're gonna do something. I mean, so give
me a give me a good homecoming weekend.
Speaker 8 (10:33):
I told you I don't indulge in homecome.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
This is my weekend. I mean, would it be at
Rodick Gulf first or Okay.
Speaker 8 (10:38):
This is this is what I would lay out Thursday. Uh,
guys that hang out, Guys that come from ann Arbor
down here, we probably hang out downtown Detroit. Get the
guys out of ann Arbor, like I want to hang
in Detroit. Let's get you down to Detroit Metropolitan. New
restaurants have opened up, some new sports bars. Hang out
and see what it's, see what it does. Friday, I'll
(10:58):
be at the artfare up and so if I see
some guys doing that, maybe grab a drink. After that.
I'm back home. Sunday games early than God, and you
know me, I'll go early I'll get up there to
tailgate about nine nine thirty. But at halftime, I'm to
the crib. I'm to the crib. I will not be
in the dozing anything. After the game on Saturday, I'm
(11:22):
to the house, kicking feet up. Enjoy the rest of
my Saturday.
Speaker 6 (11:25):
Will you have your buddies over to your house if.
Speaker 8 (11:27):
They want to come down? For sure, they liked it
when they come in town. They like to stay in
in Arboro. They like to act like nineteen twenty year
olds and hang around ann Arbor and do all that stuff,
the Brown jug and ricks.
Speaker 6 (11:40):
So that's part of your buddies who will be coming
into town. How winny will it be?
Speaker 8 (11:47):
I don't know, because you know my buddies includes the
football team. The football team they'll be in there too.
So I bunch of guys off the football team, a
bunch of guys from the city of Detroit. But this
particular crew is the crew that we're from Michigan. We
want the high school in Michigan, and then we also
went to Minson, Michigan. This is kind of like who
his crew is. Chris Agul went the brother Rice down
the street.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Aaron C.
Speaker 8 (12:07):
Brown went there. Now he went to West Bloomfield. He
lives out and Portland works for Adida's Hayes Grooms went
to Brother Rice.
Speaker 6 (12:15):
He's went to Michigan as well.
Speaker 8 (12:18):
Guys like that. Guys it's from local, went to the school, come.
Speaker 6 (12:22):
Back everybody else. It's just really good to see them, right.
You don't necessarily have to hang out with them, so
I like that. That's good. Well, congratulations, that'll be fun
for you as Michigan gets You're not all listen. I've
said this forever. Age is just a number. It's how
you feel until you start getting You look good, you
feel good right, you got your health, you got great kids,
(12:44):
you got a great family, and you're doing a hell
of a job and you're making an impact on people.
So that's my pep talk for you. By the way,
the run they call what's overturned as expected. It's one
one runners at the corners against Terret' school. Look, you
and I talked about this a little bit. You have
so much baseball. It's you just what you just did.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
They're similar to me with football. When there was an
instant replay, like instantly, I'm like, nah, that's that's a
catch and people will know you watch so much baseball,
you see it faster.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
I appreciate that. I don't know if that's always true,
but I thought that was that was pretty glaring. And
credit to Martinez. I mean for him to get around
as quickly as he did.
Speaker 10 (13:27):
Ye.
Speaker 6 (13:27):
I don't like sliding into home with head first. I
think it's stupid, quite honestly, but they it's a it's
an in thing, and guys love doing it. I think
it's a good way to get a finger jammed, get
it stepped on, jam a shoulder. I think people do
it for effect. I don't know why you wouldn't go
(13:49):
feet first where and you could, which also allows you
to do, you know, a slide where you go buy
home plate and come back and tag it with your hand.
But whatever the case may be, it worked for him.
It's one one after four.
Speaker 8 (14:01):
Yeah, there's two things you just mentioned. One you said
the you know, do it for a thing like the
dives slide is in like you see it, it goes viral,
especially if you die from a certain distance. Oh my guy,
it goes in.
Speaker 6 (14:12):
So I agree with you on that.
Speaker 8 (14:13):
Let me ask you on the flip side though, like
the actual slide to slide foot first, leg first takes skill,
it takes practice, and people practice it anymore.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
Is it a forgotten to break the forgotten aren't great question?
I don't know if they practice. They used to do
that in spring training. All the spring trainings I went to.
Didn't see that very often, but they used to do
that where you're you're on your butt, you got your
foot up and your heads are like this. They don't
do it like that. I mean, Kirk Gibson 're on
the floor. All those guys oftentimes would go feet first.
(14:45):
Lou Brockwood feed first. Ricky Henderson probably changed it. He's
the guy who really started, I shouldn't say started. He's
one of those guys who made it really popular to
go head first.
Speaker 8 (14:55):
Pistol Pete Rose he.
Speaker 6 (14:58):
Did it too. He'd go flying and he's done it
at home plate. That's a great call by you. Yeah,
it wasn't necessarily known as the base deal. I saw
him slow as he's slow as my last Yeah. Yeah,
well actually he was. He was pretty. He wasn't bad.
He was a great baseball play slow. He was slower
at the end of the year, but I think his
hustle probably made up for it. So You're probably right there.
(15:20):
He I saw something today on social media. Somebody wrote,
you could play twenty six seasons and have a hit
in all one hundred and sixty two games of those
twenty six seasons and still be forty four hit shy
of Pete Rose.
Speaker 11 (15:36):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (15:37):
Yeah, that puts it in perspective, doesn't it? Ower stats? Yeah,
brought to the power stat ron Lafloor. Yeah, I love
that Michigan Sun and checkered past. Yeah, we get it
to a certain extent. There's a lot of guys who
needed that second chance. Ronaldfloor got it, made the most
of it, and then had some issues after that. Steve
(15:58):
shep old Uh. Maybe some people may think that I
don't feel old. Let's put it that way. I feel
young and I feel energized, especially around people like kool
Aid and Ryan and Braylan. So I'm not looking at
it like that. The thing that was really old in
the lead up to the Lions season was the coordinators
(16:21):
and the coordinators and the coordinators and the coordinators, and now,
guess who leads the league in scoring the Lions. Guess
who leads the league in sacks the Lions.
Speaker 8 (16:35):
Oh, by the way, they didn't have a sack in
the first game.
Speaker 6 (16:38):
Yeah, exactly. Guess who leads the league in point differential,
the Lions. Can we put it to bed? Do you
think people have put it to bed? And I mean
you and I had put it to bed. You and
I said before Game one against Green Bay, relax, hold on,
(16:59):
it's gonna be okay. We're not looking at it in
a situation where they're in deep trouble. They're gonna get.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Out of it.
Speaker 6 (17:05):
Blah blah blah blah blah. You have the national people
clinging to that narrative. It's hard to get rid of
the narrative, clinging to the narrative. And then after they
beat Chicago, well, this is who Dan Campbell's teams are,
and people are like, he's always let's put it to rest.
Let's focus on what this team is doing and what
(17:27):
a good job Kelvin Sheppard especially has done since the
second half of Green Bay and what John Morton has
done since quarter number one against the Chicago Bears.
Speaker 8 (17:39):
You have one Humber saying you look, man, that's for
the national people. And guess what we don't care about
the national people. We don't care about them. They have
their jadea views and they have what's gonna get them
clickbait and what people are gonna pay attention to. So no,
thank yous, we won't subscribe. But here, yeah, we can
put it to rest. We can officially put it to
rest because Game one, you're trying to figure it out,
and we know what happened in that game. We talked
about it. Yeah, people were you know, high alert if
(18:00):
you will, But there were some things in that game
you can go back and look at. Look they started slow,
green Bay started fast. You got some young guys out there,
and now you're trying to go, go, go, go go,
and it leads to a recipe for a disaster.
Speaker 6 (18:10):
That's what that game was.
Speaker 8 (18:12):
But just talking about the coordinators specifically, fifty two points
in game two, I don't care that it was Chicago Bears.
Fifty two points and they left points out there. That's
what Johnny More did against the Bears in week two.
After we talked about what week one looked like and
how it didn't look like and what it didn't look
what it didn't represent. Fifty two points Week two, they
go on the road.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
Oh, here we go.
Speaker 8 (18:32):
It's the Baltimore Ravens. Another thirty eight points? Did they
put up on a road had their way with the
Baltimore Ravens defense. This is Johnny mor again. And then
they did the same thing to the Cleveland Browns. Struggled
a little bit in there, but it comes with the territory.
Really good defensive line. But all while not giving up
a sack against Mike Miles Garrett, not giving up a
sack against the Chicago Bears, and not giving up a
(18:54):
sack against the Baltimore Ravens, I'd say we can put
it to rest for Johnny Moo on the offense. And
also you saw various people getting involved. Jared Goff is
ahead of the clip that he was last year. Amar
ros Saint Brown is ahead of everyone in the NFL
and ahead of the clip that he was at last
year when he made his second All Pro. That's where
he's at. Jamier Gibbs also getting closer to breaking out,
(19:17):
if you will, and getting back to what last year
wasn't on the defensive side of the ball. You've seen
what the defense is done. You've seen what the defense
is the how many points did the brown score last week?
A bad team, nonetheless, but they're in the NFL. They
scored one touchdown.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
Tim one touchdown was on the first possession. If you
want to nitpick, Detroit has allowed a first possession scored
each of the first four games.
Speaker 8 (19:37):
So what how many how many fourth and twos did
Detroit stop against the Baltimore Ravens.
Speaker 7 (19:41):
Was it three?
Speaker 6 (19:43):
I'll have to go back and look at that. I
believe it was three including a fumble on No, Cleveland
was awful on third downs for sixteen.
Speaker 8 (19:50):
Chicago Bears after the first drive, I would say, since,
like you said, the second half of the Green Bay
Packers and Calvin Sigar, Calvin Shepherd has put his polls
on this defense, He's put his imprint and this is
the reason why they had no problem with Aaron Glenn going.
This is why they were excited even for Kelvin Shepperds
to finally take that place as a defensive coordinator. So
we can put it all the rest, including the offensive
(20:12):
line that has not given up a secon.
Speaker 6 (20:14):
I'm going I want to talk to you about something
that I think is really important that we keep in
mind with a four and a half tied at one,
because Kevin Williams just got out of a minor jam
with a strikeout of Parker Meadows. Want to I want
to talk about something that I heard from a National
perspective earlier this morning, and that was the frustration people
are getting in New York right now with Aaron Glenn.
(20:37):
And a former Jets player said they have to be patient,
which is true. Aaron Glenn's going to change the Jets.
I don't think either one of us are so naive
to think that it's going to happen this year. But
we know he's going to change that. The Jets have
said rebuild for twenty five years. They've had one winning
(21:01):
record since two thousand, is what I heard. One is
that true? One winning record? And that was with Ryan Fitzpatrick.
The fact that Detroit since twenty ten, okay, thank you, yeah,
I'm sorry, let's fit. So the thing about that is
when you look at Detroit's willingness, it's a dangerous word
(21:24):
in Detroit, patience. The Jets have not had that. My
thought to you was, how do you know how long
to be patient and when to say enough is enough?
I've got to cut the cord. Why were the Lions
patient with Dan Campbell but knew they shouldn't be patient
anymore with Matt Patricia or Rod Marinelli or Steve Mariucci.
Speaker 8 (21:47):
I could go on and on and on, because those
coaches in those locker rooms and that culture at that time,
it just it lets you know what it was. It
lets you know what you were saying on the field,
what's your you're hearing out of the locker room, what
you were getting out of players like it let you
know that. Look, it was time to move on from
each and every single one of those coaches, and also
the owners before then didn't vet the process like shelahamb did.
(22:10):
The reason that changed for the Detailed Lions this time
around is she had the conversations with the process that
she went through to decide how she wanted to choose
the people that work for her and her brand. First
she had decided what her brand was, she went out
to do interviews with other CEOs from other Fortune five
hundred companies that had nothing to do with the world
of football, just to see how do you structure a company,
(22:31):
how do you have success? She thought outside the box,
and in thinking outside the box, she was able to
come back and think outside the box again and hire
the coach. Before she hired the GM.
Speaker 6 (22:40):
She also brought in a trusted person like Chris Pielman,
so she.
Speaker 8 (22:44):
Really vetted the process. But it starts with who starts
with the owner. Aaron Glenn is the man for the job.
Aaron Glenn. You saw what he's done here. He was
votified by the players two years ago as last two
years the coordinator of the year for a very simple reason.
They know he can get the most of those players.
Problem is, it's always been from up top with my team,
the Jets. It started ownership. What he's hands on, but
(23:09):
what he's two hands on in a quiet place, Like
he's not as loud as the guy down in Dallas, but.
Speaker 6 (23:15):
He's just as meddlesome.
Speaker 8 (23:16):
He's just as imprinting trying to get this guy or
that guy or this conversation. And he just doesn't do
it right, and he doesn't have patience. He doesn't take
the time to learn what the goal is, what the
ideology is of the coach. Like, who is Aaron Glenn?
What is Aaron Glenn really coming here to do? Just
saying this guy, Oh, he's good, he can win some games.
He knows defense will be good.
Speaker 6 (23:36):
That's not enough.
Speaker 8 (23:37):
Who are you as a man what do you bring
into my city? What are you bringing to my franchise?
So if he if you would sit down and have
that conversation like Shila did with Dan, then you can
be patient when Dan goes oh and eleven.
Speaker 6 (23:50):
I would hope they would have that conversation during the
vetting process.
Speaker 8 (23:55):
But this is where the New York side comes in.
This is where the media, This is where you know,
the media capital of the world comes in. This is
when all the New York Times, New York Posts, the
Journal all that. This is when that comes into play
because it starts to get way more hot before it
needs to. And then owner he's filled that pressure. He's
reading those things, he's seeing the disconnect on the field,
(24:16):
the Owen three. That chatter is a lot louder at
Owen six in New York than it was in twenty
twenty one when it was Owen six here.
Speaker 6 (24:24):
Yeah, I personally I do not care if a player
played for a franchise, like everyone's talking about again, this
was the national narrative that I was listening to, and
they're like, well, you know, Aaron Glenn played thirteen years
there with the Jets. He was an assistant coach with
the Jets. Who cares just get the all that goes
out the window as long as you win. The reason
(24:46):
he's the guy for the job is because he has
the right vision, knows what kind of players he wants
to get, and knows how to win. He also knows
how to reach people that said, the smart ass in
me would say, knows how to reach them. Why were
they tackling as poorly as they were last night against
Miami in a loss to the Dolphins. So that's a
(25:08):
fine line. I'm not blaming the coach.
Speaker 8 (25:10):
Yeah, not blaming the coach as well. And it also
comes to it goes back to when Dan Campbell got here.
There were a couple of stars, but there weren't a
lot of guys that were vetted that were number one
guys that were here that already had five six seven
years of an attitude or five six seven years. This
is how the game runs, and this is who I am.
This is what I'm gonna do. I'm not caring about
(25:31):
what this guy is like they have over there in
New York. You got guys on the team that are
all Pro. You got guys on the team that are
multiple time Pro Bowlers. You got guys on the teams
that have experienced success think they know and also they've
seen four coaches or three coaches, and so now what
do they when they get on three It's like, man,
I mean, here we go again. Yes, as opposed to
(25:51):
then had a lot of young guys that were barely
on rosters, or he had a lot of guys that
excuse me, he had a lot of young guys, and
he had a lot of guys.
Speaker 6 (25:58):
That are barely on rosters.
Speaker 8 (25:59):
Jamal William Alexandzeloni Alexanzeloni wasn't started, and any other other
team in the NFL at the time. He had guys
that could buy into his vision, buy into his vision.
The following year they draft more players to buy into
that vision. And then at the end of that season
when they finished nine and eight, you can see that
there really is something there.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
But you don't have that in New York.
Speaker 8 (26:18):
It's a different situation, it's a different owner, and it's
a different timeline.
Speaker 6 (26:22):
Unfortunately for Aaron Glenn. Dude, it's real, isn't it. When
you start to lose after experiencing a lot of losing,
it permeates throughout a locker room or a clubhouse, depending
on what sport you're playing, don't you think.
Speaker 8 (26:34):
Because because each year it's the clock, it starts faster,
so you start to see so much work gets done
into everybody thinks people just suck and want to suck.
Speaker 6 (26:44):
No, they don't. You know much work goes into a season.
You how much work goes.
Speaker 8 (26:47):
Into you know, the first mini camp, the first OTA's
you know, training camp, going through that process, working out
with your fellow teammates. So much work gets put in.
But when you consistently lose, when you consistently have a
bleep show, like New York has been for lack of
a better word, When you lose that first game, you're
already like up here we go. Now the spirit is
(27:08):
always doing down. Now you're not doing the little things
that you should. Now a little things starts to rile
you up.
Speaker 6 (27:13):
By the time you're on three chop seasons over.
Speaker 8 (27:16):
Yeah, like the season's over and they know the mental
is over in New York and everybody can sense it.
When you're a good team that just has a little struggle,
you have good front office, you lose, you lose the
first game, it's not the end of the world, all right,
Where we grew.
Speaker 6 (27:28):
You lose, you lose, go one and three.
Speaker 8 (27:30):
It's not the end of the world. Two and two
and you figure it out. But when you're on three
and you're a team that has struggled since, like you said,
I think they had one winning record and it was
with Todd Bowles. I think Todd Bowles went nine and
he went nine and eight ninety seven didn't make a place.
It was he went and they got fired. Yeah, that
(27:51):
was the one time outside that. It was the twenty
ten season we went eleven and five.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
Yeah, that's crazy, isn't it. I mean, you think you're
you think you're football team's had some plate, that team
had some serious issues, or that franchise has had some
serious issues, and why they don't learn.
Speaker 8 (28:08):
If Sheelah would have never changed the way they did business,
this would have been another owner to bear the same name.
Like talk about doing things different. She changed her name.
She dropped the forward essentially just so things can look
at different. And then she did the hyphen nation. And
then she made sure the hyphen nation was what it was.
It wasn't like Shela Ford. No, no, no, no, no,
(28:28):
you will say the hemp.
Speaker 6 (28:29):
Here's the other thing. She did, and I don't want
to give her a ton of credit Muslim Rod would
I'm joking, I don't. I don't want to give her
a ton of credit in this regard because maybe it
wasn't her or all her, but she was part of it. Okay.
The importance of famous alumni to be associated with your organization,
(28:52):
you're you're with it. With the Jets, I think is
really important.
Speaker 8 (28:56):
There is a connection barely they holding on back thread
I pull out.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
But I'm telling you, man, there there's a connection there
with fans that more oftentimes than not, unless it's an
ugly divorce, they are siding with the athlete over ownership.
They are so unless it's an ugly divorce. Like I said,
so people are gonna blame Al Davis for moving from
(29:23):
Oakland to Los Angeles more than once, Okay, for example
in a simple situation with football, But when it comes
to a player or an organization, more oftentimes, I think
they're going to side with the player. The olive branch
extended to Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson, even though it
may not be one hundred percent, the fact that those
(29:45):
two are somewhat involved and willing to be faces of
the organization at certain events I think was massive. So
kudos to her for doing that too.
Speaker 8 (29:54):
Yeah, I one I was saying, because you said, you know,
if it's not her, then it's you know, someone around
or someone within a camp. Guess what she has final
say on who's hired. She has final say on all
moves full So to your point, she put people in
place that could have the foresight to realize having Calvin
one of the best receivers, argue the best receiver in
the last twenty five years, having him there, that's very important.
(30:15):
Barry Sanders fixing that relationship. But like just them offering
that Olive branch, it changed the way fans viewed Barry
because you had a ton of pans that didn't like
Barry after how things played out, and they held on
to that for years. But the franchise offering that, it's
kind of like, all right, well, you know what we
were bad then and we're good now. I kind of
understand what Barry was going through. At least you have
an understanding, and now you get to see him back. Yeah,
(30:37):
and you still can.
Speaker 6 (30:38):
From what I can remember in doing shows in this city.
Back when that happened, people were more upset. Sure, they
were upset that he left, but they were more upset
at the organization because they feel like the organization didn't
do enough to keep him and were trading away his friends.
I couldn't tell you how many phone calls I got.
See they shouldn't have traded Kevin Glover. I'm like a
(31:00):
hold lot of second. I mean, he wasn't very good
in Seattle when he left. I like Kevin Glover a lot.
I saw him in Maryland years ago, involved in the
Maryland Terrapins. Super nice guy and a very good player,
and I didn't like Jim Pine coming in from Cleveland.
I'm just telling you. It's not like that was the
final nail in the proverbial coffin. That's all.
Speaker 12 (31:22):
So.
Speaker 6 (31:22):
I do think that it's important that you have that
relationship with a lot of your players who fans view
as greats, because they're theirs.
Speaker 8 (31:31):
It's important to win, and that's what the Lions are
doing more than anything.
Speaker 6 (31:34):
Amen.
Speaker 8 (31:35):
They are out there winning every time you turn the
Lions on. For the most part, you know what you're
gonna get, what type of brand of football you get.
They've shown us who they are over the past four
or five years, and you know, he's just really appreciated.
You know, you appreciate it to see it. It looks
good every time he turned the product on.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
We have people in the chat. They're fired up because
Errek Schouble has seven eight strikeouts. Now that's fine. I
just remind you all the time. And Gavin Williams has seven.
Gavin Williams had twelve strikeouts the last time he pitched
against Detroit. Detroit struck out nineteen times. Last time Gavin
Williams started a game again. I'm sorry, I can't help,
(32:16):
but the eight strikeouts, you're great, you know, keep hanging
him on the wall. I worry about and we really
shouldn't be too much because we're in the top of
the sixth. I worry about the pitch count more than anything.
His pitch count is very good. It's at sixty six
right now, whereas Gavin Williams is at eighty two. The
thing that scared me going into this series, and I've
(32:37):
picked Detroit in three, but the thing that scared me
in this series more than anything else was the fact
that the Tigers are free swingers. Man, they are free swingers,
and they strike out a lot and if you're going
to strike out a lot and you're not putting the
ball in play, you're not forcing the opposition to play defense.
(32:57):
It's something Toronto does very well. They don't strike out much.
Seattle does it very well. The Guardians do it very well.
They put the ball in play and look what happened.
That's how they got the tie game. And that's earlier
this year, just last week when they beat Trek Skuball
in that sixth thing. So looking forward to plenty of
discussion in the chat, really good stuff.
Speaker 13 (33:18):
Over they talk about the chat. We do got one
super Chattle. It's a ten dollars super chess. Michael Werry
one of the.
Speaker 6 (33:25):
Best, Michaels, the best man, Michael, I mean invited you.
You're more than welcome to come in here, sit on
the couch and enjoy a smoothie.
Speaker 13 (33:33):
King once Alla, he says, Lions may quietly have the
best pass rushing duel in the NFL. He believes in
aqm Elkadi Mohammad is right beyond Hudson with three and
a half sacks of his own. Hutchinson and Muhammad the
only pair of teammates in the top two.
Speaker 7 (33:51):
Brayvan's looking at his next run.
Speaker 8 (33:54):
Oh lord, see this is what happened like two weeks ago.
We have a pass the best hand are good, my guy.
So I'm not gonna go ham.
Speaker 6 (34:04):
I'm not going crazy.
Speaker 8 (34:05):
I'm gonna tell you just pipe pipe down, pipe down.
They play some bad offensive lines. They definitely have some sacks.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
Right now.
Speaker 8 (34:11):
We have to see how it plays out and say
that they're the best in the league right now.
Speaker 6 (34:15):
Absolutely Green Bay has the best in the league. Kolomack
or I'm Coloma Seoan Gary on one side of Michael
Parsons on the other, and I've taken my It's not
a shot at Michael Parsons. It's the it's the national
narrative that everything is about Michaeh. Parsons. There's some guy
I'd take him to second, all right. That's I think
that's the best tandem in the NFL. You can prove
(34:38):
me wrong if you want to. The other thing, I
would remind people I think they're second, you think that
their second. I'm excited to hear your number one. Then,
But let me just say this real quick. Tell them
after the bright too, But just real quick, have you
followed Sadarius Smith lately? Who, who's that? Who's that? Two tackles?
Speaker 8 (35:00):
How many snaps?
Speaker 6 (35:02):
I didn't look that up, but there were There were
no quarterback hurries and they're no sacks. And it's not
a shot at him by any stretch, because I thought
he was pretty good here for Detroit. You and I
have talked about this. I just think it's important we
keep people up to date on the guy. We had
to have how's he doing?
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Now?
Speaker 6 (35:21):
You know? I had that debate with a friend of
mine a long time ago at a different radio station,
and I said to them, He's like, you've got to
draft this guy Amari Cooper. If you're the Lions. Did
you follow how good or bad that guy was as
he progressed through his career.
Speaker 8 (35:36):
And he's a walking thousand for the first nine years, Yeah,
walking thousand.
Speaker 4 (35:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:43):
So I mean with the Raiders and Raiders were bad.
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (35:47):
So there are certain I think things we've got to
keep up to speed with. And when everybody wanted the
Z back in Detroit, Z and the d uh, let
let's make sure we're following everything that he's doing well
and not so well. I know Ben Johnson does everything well?
Speaker 8 (36:01):
Does Ben Johnson's the guy you should follow all the time.
In fact, you should make him your attorney, corporations, the government,
and even your insurance company. That's right, your very insurance company.
Like there's some not frauds not do whatever it takes
to minimize their liability.
Speaker 6 (36:15):
And what that means.
Speaker 8 (36:16):
They could even with hold your conversation. Now, we want
you to get all the bread that you deserve, all
the coin, all the kwand all the cheese, all the
other adjectives that describe Cheddar and Mulai. Let Ben Johnson
be the guy they've been Johnson, keep your money in
your pocket when you need it when something goes wrong.
Make him your first call, not second, not third, and fourth.
Come to bend first on all matters that you needed

Speaker 6 (36:44):
Cheddar, cheese, bread. There was one more in there that
was making me horn corn Oh coin, all right, I
thought there was another food reference. You're just trying to
make me hungry. Usually takes another turn. Well, salad, there
you go, so salad on top of your head. Salad
is something he eats every day. Salad now also something
(37:05):
I didn't realize could be also used in terms of money. Okay,
I don't know. If you're gonna go to Art and
Jake's and order a salad, I would recommend some of
their really good burgers, sandwiches, wings, and things of that nature,

in the Planning Fitness on Orchard and Maple got to
work out in and after the workout went to the
hydro massage here and it felt so good. Put on
ten minutes and it got back nice and loose. So
when I was sitting in church, I was nice enough
right when I was praising the Lord man, you should
try too. We're all strong on this planet. And that
plant is Planning Fitness. Exciting new partnership they have with
the Detroit Lions. Here we go another one of our

This is what I do because you got a good voice.
I envisioned that you would be a singer. If you

try sun Cruiser vodka iced tea. And of course we

baseball tonight, some football this weekend, and maybe at a
tailgate for homecoming wherever it may be. It's sun Cruiser vodka,
iced tea and Woodward sports a hell of a combination.
(43:38):
Please drink responsibly, ay and we bet, and we are back.
I heard or saw I apologize. I saw a national
writer on social media say this, Jared Goff is the
best pocket passer since Tom Brady. What Jared Goff is
(44:04):
the best pocket passer in the national football Tom Beatty,
since Tom Brady tom Brady. I don't know if they
call him tom Bee. I know I've heard them call
him the goat. But yes, you mean like the goat
Tom Brady. That's who they're the goat, Tom Brady, not
Tom Brady's you know pub in Southfield, good burgers and beer. No,
I'm talking about And that's by the way, that's that's
(44:27):
not Tom Brady anyway, that's that's what the hell's the
name of that place anyway? Whatever? Uh yeah, that Tom Brady.
That goat the guy who is considered the greatest player
of all time, depending on you know, I mean, some
people say Jerry Rice, some may say Lawrence Taylor. But
there's a lot of people who are in the Tom
Brady camp that he's the best player of all time.
(44:48):
I don't know if you are. He makes a compelling argument,
does he not. But that's how people. Somebody actually said
that about Jared Goff. Now that's quite a compliment for
Jared Off, that he's considered the best pocket passer. I
don't think that's true. I think who are the pocket
passers in the National Football League this year that really
(45:11):
garner your attention? Like Patrick Mahomes, No, because he's an
unbelievable player, Lamar Jackson, No, unbelievable, not the pocket presence.
Speaker 8 (45:19):
If you say he's not the top day, you better
have one on deck. You better have one or two
on deck. You can't say no and then not have anybody.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
Right I do? I have two?
Speaker 6 (45:26):
Okay, okay, I have Joe Burrow and Matthew Stafford.
Speaker 8 (45:32):
One of them's out. Stafford, one of them is out.
Speaker 6 (45:35):
But he's got a long enough track record from me
that he's the best, you know, pocket passer in the NFL. Right,
the Green just doubled the lead off the seventh. So
I wonder who would who would fit in that category?
Who are the best pocket passers in the National Football League?
Speaker 8 (45:50):
I was saying, let me just throw names on there
and we'll figure out how rancom Stafford, it's probably one.
Just what you said, Stafford and Borrow, all right, So Stafford, Borough,
bro Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 6 (46:03):
Justin Herbert.
Speaker 8 (46:05):
Yeah he can run, though he's giving you twenty plus
rusting yards a game, okay, but yes, he's a pocket
passer essentially. Kirk Cousins is still a pocket passing quarterback.
Speaker 10 (46:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (46:17):
I mean that's why I said, if you can't really
think about it, it's everyone runs. Now, Like there's like
three or four or five like Gino Smith and he's
a pocket pass and me that can run. He sucks
right now. But it's not too many that come to mind.
Everybody has a level. You just start by division. Everybody
has a level. Everybody can run a little bit. I
guess Carson Wentz he's now your starter. Is he a
(46:39):
pocket passer.
Speaker 6 (46:39):
I would say he is. I wouldn't have him in
the discussion, but I think he's a pocket passer.
Speaker 8 (46:43):
Yeah, i'd say Jared Goff's the best. Like, realistically, if
you give Jared party, if you give Jared Golf a
clean pocket, I'd say he's better than Joe Burrow. If
you're talking about pocket.
Speaker 6 (46:52):
For pockets, that's a hell of a statement, is it?
Speaker 1 (46:56):
It really is?
Speaker 8 (46:57):
Is it a hell of a statement?
Speaker 7 (46:58):
Like it's no. You gotta understand. It's dope hearing this
from you because you know there's so many narratives.
Speaker 8 (47:04):
Joe Joe Burr is a better quarterback if we're talking
about pocket passer. The way I view a pocket passer,
you give him some time, you give him an offense,
you give him a scheme. How good is he?
Speaker 6 (47:14):
Jered Goff is efficient?
Speaker 8 (47:15):
Is I don't know what He's been lighted up for
the last three years and he stays healthy. Availability counts
in this matter. So if you want to talk about
the best pocket passer right now, look at the efficiency,
look at the track record. You said Stafford tracks, I'd say,
I say it's Jared Goff. I say it was He's consistent,
He finds out my right saying brown, he finds whatever
(47:37):
the rovers are. You saw Sam Laporter two years ago
and with that season looks like Jamo last year. You
see what the numbers are through excuse me, through four weeks.
This year he's limited the interceptions. He had a dumb
interception in his past game. He talked about it, tried
to take the hero ball. He said he needs to
start hitting the running backs in the flat a little
bit more, start taking the check down. This came out
of Jared Goff's mouth. So two interceptions, four games, and
(47:59):
you see he's right back in that bag, same offensive coordinator,
same result. I mean he's different offense coordinator, same result.
Speaker 6 (48:07):
I'd say, I'd say, yeah, very precise, love that about him. Right.
Speaker 8 (48:12):
How many games do we see nine for nine after
quarter one, twelve for twelve after quarter two? How many
times last year did you see it?
Speaker 6 (48:18):
Or how many times are you and I having a
conversation with either either text, call one another or coming
in Monday and saying, you know what, he missed this
guy because he was open. You don't say that very often.
You may say, well, he was trying to squeeze one
in there, but couldn't do it, or couldn't get out
of that, or there was too much pressure on him
for this, or had to throw it away here, which
(48:38):
is a smart play, which you've brought up in conversations before.
Not very often are you seeing a guy open, no
matter how much he may be opened by, and Jared
Goff hitting him where he had to.
Speaker 8 (48:53):
If we're gonna spend all this time over the last
four or five years talking about with Jared Goff, is
not and we've done that at nauseum, and we some
of it right, some of the wrong, a lot of
it right, some of it wrong. But if we're gonna
do that, we gotta do the same thing. What he
is is a damn good packet passer. He is elite
in that he is elite as a pocket passer when
you give him time, Like just because you give somebody
(49:13):
Pinasul and Frank Ragnall and Taylor Decker and insert left
or right guard Tate Radleys right now in Christian mahogany,
just because you have that, that don't mean a quarterback
can get it done. Put justin fields in the same offense,
does it look like that insert quarterback here, that it
looks like that. Hell does Lamar Jackson look like that realistically,
because a lot of times certain offenses they operate based
(49:36):
on pre snap post snap. Some offense just give the
individual ball and let him do.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
What he does.
Speaker 8 (49:41):
I don't know what it looks like if Lamar Jackson
is the quarterback of this offense.
Speaker 6 (49:46):
So when you say, I guess is that they would
probably tailor their offense a little bit more to suit
his skill sets.
Speaker 8 (49:51):
I'd say that to say this, he's not Lamar Jackson. Yeah,
but what he does, he does elite. It's what separates
him from the other quarterbacks in league. You're always trying
to figure out, well, is he ten, is he thirteen?
Speaker 6 (50:03):
Is he five? Jared Golf will.
Speaker 8 (50:04):
Always be righting around seven and eight. It that's what
he's been. That's what he's been the last three years.
So he's the elite pocket pass. I have no problem
with someone said he's two behind Stafford or well.
Speaker 6 (50:16):
They said he is he is. They say he's the
best since Brady, which tells you an awful lot. And
that's the reason I bring up Burrow even though he's
not available, which is a good point by Ryan. But
if we're talking about since Brady we're also talking about.
Speaker 8 (50:31):
Yeah, he won a championship since and he's been consistent.
Speaker 6 (50:33):
Yeah, I think so too. That's a good conversation. I
don't think there's a right or wrong answer. It's just
who you believe. I said over the weekend, I tweeted
that he I think Stafford throws the prettiest ball I've
ever seen.
Speaker 8 (50:46):
It's now he'll throw a better bottle warm moon, but
he does.
Speaker 6 (50:49):
He does a good one.
Speaker 1 (50:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (50:51):
Well, I mean I suppose I would say Joe Montana
would have been the guy I would have said, prior
to all of them, Joe Montana, I thought, throw just
once again, it's in pain perfect opinion. Yeah, I think
it's dum or Uno for love you Blue.
Speaker 8 (51:04):
Yeah, but he's he is a very elite pastor. And
then you watch him the connection that he and Amara
Brown have. That's something else that we need to talk about.
The quarterback wide receiver. Obviously it's been Burrow, it's been
chased for a brief time. It was justin Jefferson Kirk Cousins.
But I don't think I've ever I haven't seen in
a very long time like a relationship that I'm a
(51:25):
Rae and and excuse me and Jared golf have It's
similar to what Cupp and Stafford had.
Speaker 6 (51:31):
However that was short lived. That was short living, that disappeared.
Do you have you ever had that feeling with a quarterback?
Speaker 1 (51:39):
And if so, who was?
Speaker 8 (51:41):
Hell?
Speaker 15 (51:41):
No?
Speaker 1 (51:41):
Who?
Speaker 8 (51:43):
I played with nine quarterbacks in Cleveland over span of
four years. Then I played with Mark Sanchez loving to death,
Kellen Moore or Kellen Clemens, and then Mark markin Brunell,
Alex Smith who liked the tight ends and the tight
ends only Russell Wilson when he was young, trying to
figure it out, all right. And then I got back
to the gents, Mark Steell was the quarterback. So okay, yeah,
(52:08):
So no, I haven't had that feeling. I had Jack
Heney and John navarre In at University of Michigan. Loved
them both good stuff.
Speaker 6 (52:15):
Tigers just took the lead in the seventh up two
to one. Runners at the corners fight up. Well, here's
the thing though, so there were runners at the corners. Uh,
Cleveland goes to the bullpen. It's a smart move by
Stephen Volt all right. He goes and gets Gaddis fireballer
strikes out Dingler a j Hinch, pinch hits, Zach McKinstry,
(52:37):
and McKinstry bunts a man home. Uh, Cleveland at first
base is an absolute train wreck. Bunts a guy home.
Everybody talks about small ball and what did we say
the other day, We said this, there's only one guy
in the People are always like, oh, why didn't you bunt?
Come on, they need to bunt more. There's one guy
(52:58):
on this team who can bunt that one, and it's
Zach McKinstry. And he got it done, and so I
give him a lot of credit for doing that. You
had a lot of people would say play for the
big inning, but there were runners at the corners. He
grounds into a double play, you're out of there, and
it's still a one to one game.
Speaker 8 (53:17):
That goes back to one of the things that when
we look at how the season ended and what to
expect in the playoffs or you know, you know, what
do you believe the Tigers are going to do. That's
one of the things that we still held on to
is the experience of the skipper and aj Hint like
that was one of the things you want to talk
about pitching and what's not going right. One of the
things that we talked about.
Speaker 6 (53:37):
The main thing.
Speaker 8 (53:38):
Last time I checked, Agent Hinch is still the.
Speaker 6 (53:40):
Managing He's really good enough. Stephen Voe beat him last year. Okay,
but you're right. I mean these experiences, as important as
they may be for players, it's good to have a
steady hand. Doesn't always work out. We know that for
crying out loud. Otherwise, you know, all veteran managers and
coaches would win super Bowls in championships.
Speaker 1 (54:02):
All right.
Speaker 6 (54:02):
Bruce Bochi was let go yesterday. Bob Melvin, who's a
veteran and a really good manager. Both those guys are
probably Hall of Fame managers. He was let go by
San Francisco.
Speaker 1 (54:11):
You're right.
Speaker 6 (54:12):
The calmness, the willingness to put your players in the
situation where they can excel and play to their strengths.
Aj Hinches said this before, We're gonna play to our strengths.
Their weakness right now is run scoring. When they were
playing well before September, they were averaging almost five runs
a game. Now it's at two and a half or
(54:33):
a little bit less. Okay, so how do you do that?
You better find a way to manufacture a run, and
they did it.
Speaker 9 (54:39):
Yeah, I think that they also did that because earlier
in the game they had two on nobody out ground
out to a double play and they kind of screwed
up their whole inning. And I think aj Hinch knew
they have to get a run, they have to give
Schooble some run support, as it's only two runs so far.
Speaker 6 (54:56):
Yeah, I don't think managers do the Well, this happened earlier,
so it's gonna happen again. It depends on who's on
the bass paths, who's on the mound, and who's at
the play.
Speaker 1 (55:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (55:08):
So pushing McKinstry in there as a pinch hitter allows
you to do something you usually don't do, all right,
So kudos to him for doing something like that. That's
the way kool aid. You were gonna say something, Buddy,
go ahead.
Speaker 7 (55:20):
Oh, I was just you know, trying to back up
some points that Brave was talking about earlier. Actually with
Jared Goff.
Speaker 13 (55:27):
Yeah, and it's it's interesting that you know the people
who put him and who empowered him here, you know,
Brad Holmes, Dan Campbell, they all stated Jared Goff can
make any throw we'd ask him to. And then I
remember after a year or two. They changed that statement.
They say that Jared Goff can make any throw. That's
that's just where they left it. And since that time,
we've seen him go and do the things that people
(55:48):
say he can't do. He can't play outside, it's what
we heard. He can't throw the deep balls. What we heard,
he's a little offen some of his time, some of
his rhythms are hitting those kind of blind throws. All
we've seen from Jared Goff him come here and knock
each one of those targets down to the point that
he did wind up top five in MVP voting last
year and in the conversation because of the things that
(56:10):
you're talking about. And that's why I say, like every
year there's all these these other quarterbacks that people think
are just you know what, that's the guy that's gonna
finally overtake.
Speaker 7 (56:18):
Jared Golf about the end of the year. He finds
himself always in that top five to top seven conversation.
Speaker 6 (56:23):
What's his reputation? What do you think his reputation.
Speaker 8 (56:26):
I think his reputation is a detroiter. Now because he
played sixty nine games for the Los Angeles Rams, Well,
this'll be his seventieth game coming up for the Detroit Lions.
So he'll be a complete Detroiter after this game this week.
So shout out to my boy, buffed up Jared Goff.
I think his reputation is it's corny, but it's it's
a survivor.
Speaker 6 (56:46):
It's great.
Speaker 8 (56:47):
Is everything that Detroit signed up for. And they started
in twenty twenty one. When he got here, he died
into that. He died into what the team was. He
dialed into what Dan Campbell was, He dialed into what
people thought about him. He died into with the narrative.
It was wording, all right, this is who they perceived
me to be. I'm just going to go out there
and show him I'm something different. Just think about the
journey from how it was handled with La how Sean McVay,
(57:10):
the Cowbo trip, the middle of the night played them,
sent them here to Detroit, kind of sent him out
the pastor. Detroit is out to pastor type of town
at that time, sent him out the pastor. But he survived.
He survived this thing with Dan Campbell, this new team,
this new regime, and now we're at the point where
you're talking about him finishing fifth in the MVP last year.
That wouldn't have been the case. That wouldn't have been
(57:30):
a thought process of mine in twenty twenty one or
twenty twenty or twenty nineteen how it was going for him.
But he survived that and put himself in a position
where he's the most efficient.
Speaker 6 (57:40):
Quarterback over the last three years.
Speaker 8 (57:41):
He has the second most touchdown pass in the last
three years, only behind Baker Mayfield, which is.
Speaker 6 (57:46):
A more yards than anybody else.
Speaker 8 (57:47):
He has more yards than anybody, And he's become the
leader of this.
Speaker 6 (57:51):
He's the leader.
Speaker 8 (57:51):
Like when you listen to him talk now, he's not
the guy at the podium that you can barely hear
when he first got here, kind of not mumbling but
just talking very slow. Well, you know, we went out
there and we got it done today, Like that's not
him anymore. The voice is different, the chest is poked
out a little bit. He's he's a little bit feisty.
Speaker 6 (58:08):
And what did he say the other week?
Speaker 8 (58:09):
He says, he say, you got any more questions about
the about the offense? You got more questions about the coordinator. Yeah,
he's feisty. Now that's Detroit.
Speaker 12 (58:17):
I do like that.
Speaker 6 (58:18):
I do like that about it.
Speaker 8 (58:19):
That's a different guy from La surfer Share that went
to Cow played for Sean McVay. Now he's in Detroit
and he wears buffs. He said his coat isn't as
big anymore.
Speaker 6 (58:29):
When you have other athletes in the winter time. Look,
all you guys are type which I respect and I
love about it. I do. It takes a lot for
someone to get a type a leader to follow them,
and I think he has been able to build that
through his play and dedication and communication and leadership skills
(58:50):
with some of his other teammates. And I don't think
enough is said about that. But I think part of
his reputation, and I think it's wrong, but part of
his reputation in Detroit is that he does and have
a strong arm. I would strongly disagree with that. I
think you does strong arms. Aren't the ball?
Speaker 8 (59:04):
Can you throw the ball as far as Josh Allen
on the knee or can you throw the ball like uh,
what's they call? I hate the turn bus, but JaMarcus Russell,
who can be on it jo the ball eighty yards? Yes,
that's a different type of arm. That's a ridiculously strong arm.
Matt Stafford has one of those arms, whether you like
him or not.
Speaker 6 (59:21):
Joe Milton's Jones arm.
Speaker 8 (59:23):
Joe Milton like he's nuclear, he's got a nuke. It
goes back to anticipation. He has more than enough arm
for Jamison Williams, who runs low low for three. But
it's about anticipation. It's about figuring out the wide receiver.
And as now Jamo's in your four, he knows it.
He knows him to the point where you saw that
(59:44):
pass that Jamo miss The pass was dropped on the bucket.
Now Jamo looked the wrong way initially, he should have
looked on your sacks. The ball should come on your
side shoulder. This is what you should do, neither here
nor there. But he got that ball out there, and
that's not the first out. He gets the ball out there.
He knows James on Now, he knows the speed of
his wide receivers. He's got the arm to do the
things that he needs to do. He's and also he's
(01:00:08):
everything you want to be like players players. When guys
are a type you watch from afar me let me
watch because if he's not coming in with the rye rye,
and he's smooth and going and hanging out and he's the.
Speaker 6 (01:00:19):
Guy and also a good player. Let me watch him?
Speaker 8 (01:00:23):
Is he tough? I don't remember Jared GoF missing many games.
In fact, I remember him playing through an ancle injury
that no one can do.
Speaker 6 (01:00:29):
Was that bad?
Speaker 8 (01:00:30):
I remember that last season, Like Jered, is he going
to be there for you in bad games and the
good games? Every time Jered Goss has a bad game,
he's at the press conference, he's at the podium, he's
having conversations. He said, I got to be better.
Speaker 6 (01:00:41):
This one's on. He does. Most quarterbacks are don't you think?
Or am I wrong there? No?
Speaker 8 (01:00:46):
Most quarterbacks aren't they Most quarterbacks find a way to
not most quarterbacks. A lot of quarterbacks find a way
to shift narratives or shift blame, or they just do
kind of like a yeah, you know, we got to
be better, we gotta be better. I gotta be better.
Now I miss that pass. They don't point out what
they did wrong. They may just say a very very
(01:01:06):
vanilla term, yeah, I gotta be better.
Speaker 6 (01:01:08):
What do you have to be better at? What did
you do that was bad?
Speaker 8 (01:01:11):
They won't tell you that. Jared GoF will go there
and say, hey, look on an interception. But I'm doing
too much. I'm not here looking for the hero ball.
I got guys opening the flash. That's what you did wrong.
That's a different type of onus. That's somebody because I
can get better with him. And every time I see
him at the facility, he's studying, he's getting better. When
everybody was trying to say things were going off the rail, guarantees,
Jared Goff was down in all week after they lost
(01:01:33):
to Green Bay Packers, which is somebody that you can
point to, somebody that you can look at. Now you've
bought me in. Now I want to rock with you.
Now I'm gonna go ride for you because I believe
you'll ride for me.
Speaker 13 (01:01:44):
That's a great point, Breton, because you got to think
about it. They still haven't lost back to back games
now in over two and a half season, and so
your quarterback has to be doubted after the loss to
get there. But I do wonder, and I do believe
a lot of this has to do with coaching, not
just the talent, not just what's between the ears for
Jerry Goff, because that plays a big part of it.
But Dan Campbell is also somebody who will step to
(01:02:05):
the podium and say where he messed up, say what
his mistakes are, say where he needs to get better.
Even after the first week, they went and said these
things are correctable.
Speaker 7 (01:02:12):
We looked at them, we saw them. We're gonna get
right after it. And I do wonder how much that
maturation your coach leading from that charge.
Speaker 6 (01:02:18):
It's called accountability. You're like that, Yeah, it's called accountability. Look,
you and I were at the Pistons press conference yesterday
and that's exactly what they were talking about.
Speaker 8 (01:02:27):
Cheating.
Speaker 6 (01:02:29):
I was, I was cheating on all of you. It
was accountability. It was I mean, and that's a big
word in society today, not just sports, but a big
word in society. How are you holding people accountable for
what they should be doing or what they're paid to do?
And I think that's an excellent point on your part
with regarding Jared Goff. He seems like he's very accountable.
Speaker 8 (01:02:51):
I always take a little bit from Dan Campbell after
games too. I keep going back to that Ben Johnson
locker room. How I knew it was a fraud.
Speaker 9 (01:02:56):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:02:57):
When you watch Dan Campbell's locker room after when even
have the losses, you can pick up something one of
the things he said that I loved. After this loss
in the locker room, he said, okay, man, that isn't
gonna be good enough moving forward, Like in the moment
last time, they just they just want by twenty four.
Just the NFL, they won by twenty four. This is
three wins in the row. They're now sole possession, well
(01:03:18):
they would have been later on that night, sole possession
of first place in the NFC North Kings of North.
They're back and at the game. In the locker room,
guys still got on helmets, some guys still have them
shoulder pass in jerseys, and he says, moving forward just
ain't gonna be good enough. And I use ain't for
a fact. That is letting your guys know in the
moment we won, but that wasn't good enough all the
(01:03:39):
way around, whether it was offense in the third quarter,
whether it was defense on the first drive where there
was some moments here there where were some players who
had some moments. This isn't gonna be good enough. He
addressed it right then and there. That doesn't allow players
to rest on their lawrels. That's how you go fifteen
and two.
Speaker 6 (01:03:53):
I'll tell you folks that we talked about it that I'm.
Speaker 8 (01:03:56):
Saying they're gonna fifteen to two, but that's how you
go fifteen and two.
Speaker 6 (01:03:58):
Well, you're right. I mean, like everybody said they're not
going fifteen to two because of how hard their schedule was.
Remember we said the second hardest schedule in the National
Football League. How it turns out to be, I'm not sure.
Just to give you an idea. And look, Cincinnati's lost
Joe Burrow. So I mean they looked awful. I mean,
Jake Browning looked like, you know, his pants were on
far he had no time whatsoever. Jamar Chase was upset.
Speaker 8 (01:04:20):
You could tell there's an effort factor that players have
when you know it's a bad game. T Higgins and
Jamar Chase was sitting next to each other with about
three minutes left in the first quarter with that effort factor.
Speaker 6 (01:04:34):
On their face or body language, both everything.
Speaker 8 (01:04:37):
The way they were sitting next to the talking to
each other, it was like, man, here we go again
with this. Man, Yeah, I ain't gonna do that. You're
not probably gonna do anything. What you're doing tonight. What's
going on? What's up in the city.
Speaker 6 (01:04:45):
Like they had that in the first quarter. It's a
bad look.
Speaker 15 (01:04:49):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:04:49):
We'll see you guys soon.
Speaker 6 (01:04:50):
Yeah, so they'll see them, and then it's at Kansas City,
and then it's home to the Buccaneers and Vikings. Just
to give you an idea of how challenged that schedule is.
Sometimes we look at it at the beginning of the
season and we forget for a moment, and then we
need to be reminded of just what a bear of
that schedule really is. Whether they have Joe Burrow or not.
(01:05:13):
Zach Taylor and the Bengals are fighting for their football
lives too this week.
Speaker 8 (01:05:17):
Yeah, I told you Zach Taylor wouldn't be there the
whole season. I told you he was one of mine
that wouldn't make the season. And guess what, ladies, and Jimmy,
he's not gonna make the season. I will be very
interested in the first half of not the game this week,
but the game in two weeks, because the last three
games and this will be after you play the Bengals.
The Bengals stink. I am expecting another forty something to thirteen,
(01:05:41):
another one of those. The Browns stunk. Defensive line really good,
but there's only so much they can do and eventually
they were down, they did, and so it happened, and
then the Bears stunk that game. When you play against
the Chiefs, you're playing against the team that's getting better.
You're playing against a team that will have a better
sense of who they are by that time you play them.
You're playing against a team that's got something going for themselves.
(01:06:03):
They also have the best court, the best player, not
name Ales Garrett. They they go back and forth. Excuse me,
Mahomes and Garrett, you got that guy? You got Andy
Reid are starting to come into their own and now
they'll win this week. Back's not as against the wall,
but still Kanye against the wall in their division. I
am looking forward to the first half. This isn't a
worried conversation. This is just me saying I'm looking forward
(01:06:25):
to that first quarter, first half of that Chiefs Lions game,
because that will be the first time the Lions I think,
play something of significance.
Speaker 6 (01:06:34):
In a team. If you will, I wouldn't automatically assume
they're gonna beat the Jaguars this week in Jacksonville.
Speaker 8 (01:06:41):
Okay, let's assume, for the sake of my conversation that
they do.
Speaker 6 (01:06:44):
Now go back to that, then they will be getting
better beating Baltimore. So this is where I kind of
try to play games in my head a little bit.
I hate taking things away from athletes and teams in general.
So we thought green Bay was really good. This is
what I love about football, by the way, love about
it sports. We thought green Bay was really good. It
(01:07:06):
was reaffirmed after they beat Detroit, and then two weeks
later they pooped their pants, and then they did it
against Dallas, and now we're questioning green Bay. We didn't
think Chicago was all that. We're still a good team though, Yeah, no,
I don't disagree with that. Then Chicago, and you're like, okay,
well Chicago, you know, fifty two points, how good can
they be? Suddenly they peeled off two wins in a row.
(01:07:28):
You think Baltimore is good, but Baltimore has turned out
to be a team that you're not real confident in anymore.
As a matter of fact, you think they've crashed. Okay,
and then you beat a Cleveland team that stunned you
just a week ago by beating the Packers, who you
highly admired. So it's a mental game with fans and
(01:07:49):
members of the media. And analysts like yourself to try
and figure out who is who they are when Jacksonville
beats the Chargers in Los Angeles, and we have a
great respect for what the Charge has done. So I'm
not guaranteeing Kansas City beating Jacksonville. In fact, I would
make the early prediction I'm going to take Jacksonville over
the Chiefs.
Speaker 8 (01:08:07):
That's fine, you can do that, But I go back
to what I was originally talking about. I'm looking at
when they played them, the Bears were not good. When
the Lions played them, they beat them easily. They beat
them easily, and then they moved on to the next
week in which they beat the Ravens easily. Regardless of
what the score like, they beat the Ravens easily. They
dominated that game. So that's another easy win for forty
(01:08:28):
five of the sixty minutes.
Speaker 6 (01:08:29):
You're saying three straight East week, right, So now you
play the Browns.
Speaker 8 (01:08:34):
That was at no point in this game from the
time they woke up that morning to the time it
was over that they thought that they were going to
lose to the Browns. So now that's three games until
where forty five plus minutes of the game.
Speaker 6 (01:08:44):
You're just waiting for the next game, understood.
Speaker 8 (01:08:46):
If the Chiefs, to your point, if they're able to
survive being Jacksonville Jaguars and start continued to look good
like they did last week, getting Xavier Worthy going like
he first first game back he was back. If they
do that, I would be very interested to see what
that first half looks like with the Detroit Lives.
Speaker 9 (01:09:04):
Can I ask you us question real quick?
Speaker 6 (01:09:06):
Sure?
Speaker 5 (01:09:07):
Did I?
Speaker 9 (01:09:10):
I don't know what you guys said before the season,
but I always felt like Lions fans were really concerned
about the schedule. Do you think that it's a little
bit easier than you thought it was at the beginning
because we're playing the Bengals without Joe Burrow. The Ravens
aren't what we thought they were. The Chiefs have kind
of struggled in the beginning of the season, and they're
kind of getting back to their ways. The Commanders are
two and two right now. The Vikings aren't winning fifteen
(01:09:32):
games the way the Air fourteen games what they did
last year. Do you guys personally kind of think the
schedules not as difficult as we originally thought it was.
Speaker 8 (01:09:41):
No, because at the end of the day, I start here.
I had the Lions going twelve and five. I had
them being four. I had them be in three and
one after the first four games. I had that loss
being Baltimore, and it had them beat in Green Bay.
But guess what later in the season, I had them
losing to Green Bay. You know what I'm saying. So, no,
the season, it's not an easier season just appears that
way because there's no Joe Burrow. It appears that way
(01:10:01):
because right there there's no colioze Canci and Mike Evans.
But those games are still gonna be hargher because look
at what the Bucks did against the Eagles, like they
fought hard in that game, missing all those people that
they're missing. You're gonna have to see the Green Bay
Packers against the Bears. Will be a better team once
you play them the second time around. Agree, Dallas, Dallas
is a better team, whether you want, whether we want
to believe it or not, whether we like just for
(01:10:23):
the regular season. We know what they do in the playoffs,
but just for the regular season, that Dallas game, that's
not gonna be a pushover. It's gonna be a different team.
Because he said he's.
Speaker 6 (01:10:31):
Not a fan of he's not a fan of Brian Schottenheimer.
I'm not, and he's not a fan of Dak Prescott.
So for him to come out and say, look, I
mean that game is not gonna be I don't think
anything's easy. I hate that word because I don't and
I'm not on you, Ryan, but I don't think anything
is easy. Maybe just maybe the reason we look at
Baltimore differently now because it's because of what Detroit did
(01:10:53):
to them. Maybe we look at Cleveland, not that you
thought they were great shakes, but we knew they had
a good defense. We look at them differently because of
how how dominating Detroit truly was in a game like that.
I'm not sure yet about Kansas City. I wouldn't say
it's easy by any stretch.
Speaker 1 (01:11:08):
I just know this.
Speaker 6 (01:11:09):
Every team before the season looked at their schedule when
they had the Lions on schedule, and they said, that's
gonna be a bit of a game. And you know what,
they're still saying it. I'm just curious here.
Speaker 8 (01:11:21):
And then also too, it's a long that is bars
and also too it's a long season. There's mental that
goes with the physical. I mean, all right, what does
it look like for you at the end of the season,
who's playing, who's not playing? What does the mental look like?
It's mentally draining, like fighting this battle. And now the
Lions have been good. This is the first stretch. It's
the first stretch maybe ever that the Lions have been
this good for four years.
Speaker 6 (01:11:40):
You know what that means.
Speaker 8 (01:11:41):
That's more games, It's more games that you play. What
do the Lions look like in December having played second
round last year, always to the NFC Championship two years
prior to that, so a lot goes into it. It
still will be a tough season. But the good news
is you got one of the top three teams in
the league, and you know, and they may not.
Speaker 13 (01:12:00):
That inspired Michael ware who now has the number one
crown for top fans. In our chat today two dollars
super such, he says, I'm so sorry, Bright, but I
still don't see.
Speaker 7 (01:12:09):
Bowl one more loss for these lives. I guess he's
going fifteen to two again.
Speaker 6 (01:12:14):
Yeah, he loves that stuff. And kudos to you if
you're right about that. The mental aspect is something we
can't relate. You can't like you were just bringing up
Jamar Chase and t Higgins. I think we forget about
that aspect too often. And we see the physicality and
we see the team they're playing against, and we look
at numbers. But when they play the Giants later on
(01:12:36):
this year, that might be, to use Ryan's word, an
easier game, because maybe they recognize our season is screwed.
Speaker 8 (01:12:45):
Right to your point, maybe it's not because Jackson Dart
and that team look decent this past week. Yeah, and
their defense, which we already said was a better DEFENSEI
people gave him credit for the defense, looked good.
Speaker 6 (01:12:54):
They came up big.
Speaker 8 (01:12:55):
So you just never know. The Lions haven't played against
this Giants team. They don't know what Jackson diary is
till you get a field. So it always can be
interesting down the line. Each game is different than the
last one because when you go into that game, you're
gonna go in with different personnel because guy's gonna be injured.
Speaker 6 (01:13:11):
Some guys are gonna be back.
Speaker 8 (01:13:12):
Each game you're gonna go into, you're gonna have new injuries,
new nixon bruises, new bumps, new pains that will affect you.
You know, you may be smooth one hundred percent in
week five, you may be playing a week thirteen, and
you got a little bit of a limp, a little
bit of a naggy. You're trying to make plays right
through it. You're not yourself. Your usual self is ninety
in a touchdown. You might be forty five, and you know,
(01:13:34):
you might just want to murder a limp there. You
might have some good one.
Speaker 6 (01:13:38):
That's so Realue, Okay, all right, we gotta hit a break.
Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
By the way.
Speaker 6 (01:13:42):
Uh, they are through six and a half, right or
seven and a half rather h And it's two to one.
Tigers are in front. Everybody wants carry Carpenter to bat
against left. He's he's been two seventeen against him this
year and just struck out.
Speaker 7 (01:13:53):
I wonder who sends out to the mound?
Speaker 6 (01:13:55):
What's that?
Speaker 15 (01:13:56):
So?
Speaker 7 (01:13:56):
I wonder who he sends out.
Speaker 6 (01:13:57):
I think it's schoobl I would hold it would be Terrek.
Scoubl's pitch count is un pretty much under control. I
didn't see a handshake, so I could be wrong here,
and I hope he does. I'm pretty sure he's got thirteen.
He's out there. Yeah, he's out there about there. Thirteen punches.
It's the second most of the post season game since
Joe Coleman.
Speaker 7 (01:14:17):
I think he.
Speaker 6 (01:14:18):
I think Joe Coleman did that against the A's in
nineteen seventy two. I could be wrong there, but Joe
Coleman and Joe Coleman, I hate to say, he wasn't
known as a strikeout pitcher. Pay Trek Schouble is a
strikeout pitcher. You know who's known for great deals? Less

(01:20:14):
so here you go. It's tight right now, it is tight.
Here's here's what the second guessing will take place if
something drastic happens. A season high one hundred and seven
pitches for Trek Schouoble. He gave up three hits, one run,
struck out fourteen Guardians, which ties a Tigers postseason record.
(01:20:35):
He's got two outs and a man on second. They
bring in Will Vest against Jose Ramirez. The discussion during
the break was leave him in or pull him again.
One hundred and seven pitches the season high, which to
me doesn't make a I don't care. It's about the
matchup and can I just give you the stats here? Okay,
(01:20:56):
this is why he's made the move. Okay, I thought
it is Jose Ramirez. I think it's Brian Rochio who's up.
I thought it was Jose Ramirez. But either way you
want to turn Ramirez around. Ramirez is a righty. Uh
is hitting two sixty seven, and that's what he would
be against Trek Skuble with twenty four homers. Against Will
(01:21:20):
Vest he's gonna bat left handed who he's only got
six homers higher average, but six homers less of a
power thread from that side of the plate for what
that's worth. Okay, so that's probably the explanation. But it's
really about this matchup first and foremost Vest against I
believe it's Brian Rochio in a two to one game,
(01:21:42):
bottom of the eighth, Cleveland leads it or Cleveland, I
should say, with a runner at second to try and
tie it. So that's what you got. No, it's Bo Naylor.
Excuse me, Bo Naylor's in for a pinch hitter. It's
a pinch hitter. Here's a guy betting a buck ninety five.
Now remember this inning. The reason there was a guy
on second is because Errek's Scouble walked Austin Hedges. I
(01:22:03):
thought Schooble was a little quick in his delivery in
this inning here, especially when Hedges climbed aboard Austin to
walk a one sixty one hitter is borderline inexcusable. You know,
I'm not gonna get nitpicky about errek'schooble because, like I said,
(01:22:25):
one hundred and seven pitches for crying out loud, fourteen punchies,
only three hits, and by the way, one of those
hits was over his head. It was an infield hit.
I'm not sure they should have had a double play.
One bounced out of his glove. You got to make
that play if you're Trek's schooble. But I'm not going
to sit here and complain about the job he's done.
(01:22:47):
He's been unbelievable. He's the player of the game probably
no matter what happens, and he should win another cy
Young as far as I'm concerned. I suppose people in
Boston might think Eric Crochet, New York might say Max Freed,
But I'm gonna say Trek scoubl wins back to back.
Cy Young's here for the Detroit Tigers. Let's hope they
(01:23:07):
can close it out here. Who do you guys like eventually?
Who do you guys like in the other series, or
let's just make it simple, who do you like coming
out of the American League who do you like coming
out of the National League? You don't know, you know,
you know who's in the playoffs though, But to Mike
(01:23:28):
vest got out of it, by the way, grand Bold first.
Speaker 9 (01:23:30):
Oh yeah, Now I had to see exactly the matchups
you said out of the American League.
Speaker 6 (01:23:35):
Out of both leagues.
Speaker 9 (01:23:36):
Well, I will say I like the Phillies out of
the National League, and I will say I know Seattle's
struggle a little bit. I'm gonna say Seattle gets out
of it.
Speaker 6 (01:23:48):
Yeah, I've got Seattle in Philly too, I said at
the trade deadline. Yep, Seattle's lost three in a row,
but that last one didn't mean much. They've won seven
of ten. Yankees have won eight in a row, nine
of ten. Braylan, who do you like coming out of
the American League? Who do you like out of the
National League? Give me Yankees feels? Yankees and Phils me
Yankees feels.
Speaker 8 (01:24:06):
I think something just happens with the Yankees around this time.
I'm looking at the rest of the postseason and I
don't see anybody Seattle doesn't Seattle does in the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (01:24:15):
That's what I'm banking on.
Speaker 8 (01:24:16):
Yeah, I don't think Boston is strong enough to win.
Cleveland won't beat the Tigers. I don't think the Tigers
are strong enough to get to the World Series. Just
my fault, and I don't buy it for some reason.
I just don't buy Toronto. I just don't buy Toronto
Philly because I think they're gonna.
Speaker 6 (01:24:33):
Be the Dodgers year.
Speaker 8 (01:24:34):
I think this is one of I think this is
their year, like this is the year they haven't talked
a bottom a lot. No Kyle Swarbers leading the league
in RBIs and I know that side of it. When
the Phillies were in it two years ago and then
the postseason three years ago, it seemed like it was
much more about them. It's more quiet this year for them.
I think that's when teams win.
Speaker 6 (01:24:53):
Watch out for San Diego that that might be the
surprise team National League. They're playing the Cubs right now,
and Diego has We were talking about superstars yesterday. They've
got them one of my favorite players. I like Philadelphia too,
but I really like Seattle. And the reason I like
Seattle their lineup is the deepest. Okay, they're playing really
(01:25:15):
good ball and they're pitching. I'm sorry, Logan Gilbert George
Kirby Luis Castillo. I know they haven't had their types
of seasons. Those three guys have nasty, nasty stuff and
they can get you out in so many different ways.
And the back end of their bullpen has been pretty
damn good. So and I love Philly's back end of
their bullpen. Kool Aid, who do you got coming out?
Speaker 11 (01:25:37):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (01:25:37):
Now?
Speaker 13 (01:25:37):
I like the selections of Seattle and Philly. Honestly, Seattle
is a team that I feel like is gonna be
a little bit more built for this right now than Toronto,
who I've seen kind of the beginning of the season
now so towards the second half of the season, they
got on a little bit of a run.
Speaker 7 (01:25:52):
But Seattle for me out of the Yeah today.
Speaker 8 (01:25:56):
I'm Jaden on Seattle. I'm jad because Ken Griffy Jr. Was,
like everyone knows from that era, favorite player of all
time and also Randy Johnson ended up being my favorite
pitcher of all time not named Greg Maddicks. I just
knew Seattle was gonna win one. And then you get
a young a Ride.
Speaker 6 (01:26:13):
I just knew that that team was gonna win. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:26:16):
Each year, old Jay Buner each was like the last
year Kim Griffy if you were last year.
Speaker 6 (01:26:21):
Just so. If they can't win, ain't nowhere.
Speaker 8 (01:26:23):
Hell, I'm picking any other Seattle teams big Jumper having
sixty home runs or Julio rob Sarez. I don't care
about the pitching staff.
Speaker 6 (01:26:31):
I don't want JP Crawford. If they couldn't win, NA,
not this team. All right, that's that's a that's a
different way of looking at it. But I can't respect that.
Speaker 8 (01:26:42):
I don't even know if that team ever got to alc. Yes,
I think they got the one.
Speaker 6 (01:26:45):
They lost, Yeah, they lost. They got the one on
the sixth game. Uh, it's gonna be a fun ride.
Uh Again, Tigers are up to one there in the
ninth and Riley Green's leaning off this inning yesterday. I
wanted to get your thoughts on this, and maybe it's
too early. I'm not asking for predictions right now, but
there is a feel when you go down and you
talk with Trajan Langdon, who I like a lot. JB. Bickerstaff,
(01:27:08):
who I like just as much. And kool Aid and
I were at the Pistons practice facility yesterday for Pistons
Media Day. He stayed there all day. I had to
leave because I actually we had a show to do,
but either way, we were down there and I thought
there were some good questions to those guys. Those guys
always impressed me on how they handle themselves. I love
(01:27:32):
I probably get way too caught up in this. I
love the professionalism of how they come off and how
they handle their team. The fact that these guys, and
You've brought it up a number of times. You saw
so and so at the gym, Jade and Ivy, these
guys have been around each other and around Detroit more
than they have before. They are all still hungry. Everybody
(01:27:52):
can say that, but are they really putting in the work.
These guys seem to be putting in the work. This
could be one of those turning points for the Pistons again,
because Asar Thompson and Ron Holland are going to have
much bigger input on while they play on the floor,
and the trust that the coaching staff has in him,
I think has become leaps and bounds compared to where
(01:28:14):
it was before.
Speaker 8 (01:28:17):
The players that are on the team now. I like
what Trajan Landon and these guys did last year. I
like the professionalism how they handled the questions. I like
the players that they bought in and while they had
how they handled the season. But I feel a sense
of a Scott Harris type of deal with Trajan Langdon.
I feel like a more you.
Speaker 6 (01:28:34):
We just chill.
Speaker 8 (01:28:35):
I like what we're doing, very quiet, like I don't
know how to explain it. That's what it's what I
get from him. I like the professionalism. I just I
don't know. I think it's something missing.
Speaker 6 (01:28:46):
So I asked them about this. There is a mindset
that is different. Tigers have two men on nobody down
in the ninth there's a mindset of you're the hunter
or the hunted. Cooland and I were talking about this
yesterday at the press conference, and a lot of people
were asking the different players that I asked Trajan Langdon
(01:29:06):
that I thought his answer was really good. He said, look,
we're not going to surprise teams, but our mindset hasn't changed.
We see the opportunity ready to take the next step.
They know that they need to do to be together.
We are the best team when everybody is locked in.
Last year, when we got past the All Star break,
teams knew it wasn't going to be easy against us,
(01:29:29):
so it took to the All star break for people
to almost I'll use the word respect them a little
bit more, and then they recognized, man, this team is
now you're going to start this season with that that
people see this team as a bit of an issue.
There is a certain point in I think every team's
season where players are either in like you just had
(01:29:50):
mentioned Chase and t Higgins, or people or players recognize
we could have an issue here. The rest of the way.
Speaker 8 (01:30:01):
You talking about what the Tickers aren't I mean, excuse me,
but the Lions aren't.
Speaker 6 (01:30:03):
I mean the Pistons. Yeah, I mean, they're just the
mindset of certain athletes, I think on where they are
and what they're recognizing about their team. They're not so
caught up on themselves, but they can't see what's going
on with everybody else about who are you talking about
in specific, well, in general, but specifically with the Pistons yesterday. Yeah,
I mean, if that's the feel I didn't dial in,
(01:30:23):
I gotta catch up. No, that's okay, I mean, but
but you're dialed in with athletes in their mindset. There
is a certain time where during the season those athletes
are going, we've got an issue here, or they look
around and they say we've got something special here.
Speaker 8 (01:30:38):
Yeah, I want of them say it's one. I'm saying,
you see it?
Speaker 6 (01:30:41):
You know it?
Speaker 1 (01:30:42):
All right?
Speaker 6 (01:30:42):
Cool?
Speaker 8 (01:30:43):
This is it could be something. It could be something special.
We continue to dial into what we're doing, if we
continue to operate on or operating like I believe that
we have the right pieces. I believe we have the
right players, and I believe coach might be on something.
So you just you you listen more, you buy in more,
you give more of yourself, you give more or to
the game.
Speaker 6 (01:31:01):
You know.
Speaker 8 (01:31:01):
And there's also that same point where you look at
the season you're like, now, this ain't it.
Speaker 6 (01:31:06):
Can you tell when you show up, when you're at
camp and you see guys and you're looking around, You're going,
that guy's not that good. This guy's not as good
as this guy has to be. We need an upgrade here.
Can you feel that?
Speaker 17 (01:31:17):
Well?
Speaker 8 (01:31:18):
Yeah, because those those those seasons you go into the
season optimistic. It's not. It's not confidence. Like those seasons
you go into the season like if some stuff goes
the right way, I mean, maybe we could do this.
We need to catch this team. Maybe Joe Burrow will
be out so we'll get a win there, and yeah,
you start looking for that, and then when it doesn't happen,
you see a game one game too, you're like, yeah,
(01:31:39):
this is about what I expected. This is about who
we are. We're missing here. We don't have any timey
end play offensive line is you know that they're weak
on the left side, can't protect the quarterback. And once
you see it, it's.
Speaker 6 (01:31:50):
Like, yeah, I had an idea. I had an idea,
kool A, what was your takeaway yesterday from and you
talked to a lot more players than I did. I
was only there for Isaiah Stewart or Beef stew Is.
Some members of the media actually called him.
Speaker 7 (01:32:09):
Look, they actually called him beast.
Speaker 5 (01:32:11):
Oh.
Speaker 7 (01:32:12):
He feels about the nicknames, but in that room, it's
like that.
Speaker 6 (01:32:15):
AI called him Ji, Yeah for Jade and Ivy. Yeah,
I'm not. I'm not just spurging those people. It's just
it's it's funny. I said that. Somebody as to me,
I said, Man, the media has so changed. It's incredible,
it really is. It's incredible.
Speaker 7 (01:32:31):
One of the biggest takeaways for me was it's expectations.
You know, this is my my fourth year in the room.
Speaker 13 (01:32:36):
Fifth ye're covering the team because the first year was
doing the COVID year when they shut things down, and
all of it was about early on, it was about
the hope that could be. This is the first time
that we're talking about a team that can actually has
they're expected expected to have back to back playoff appearances
since the first time since seven, away eight or nine,
And you can feel that, and you're right. Cave Cunningham
(01:32:57):
got to one of those points in either the year
before the year before that where he looked at the paper.
I remember he walked in and he looked and he
just sat back. He said, we're not good. We're like
a bad team. And so that's why I appreciate your
question to bring on that, because you could see in
their eyes, even underneath Monty Williams, there was some hope,
but they were still talking about Dwayne Casey.
Speaker 8 (01:33:18):
I take this guy.
Speaker 13 (01:33:18):
They're like, he's helping us learn, we feel confident, we've
had success under him, and you see it like it's
like a different energy.
Speaker 8 (01:33:27):
I take it back to football. What did cam What
did the number one pick in the draft, Cam Ward
say during his press conference after the game? I quote,
We're asked, yes, yeah, four games in the season. He's
a rookie quarterback talking. This is his first time ever
doing this four games into the season. Guess what he
knew after game one? He just waited the game four.
(01:33:47):
Game four at the press conference simply put we are cheeks.
Speaker 6 (01:33:52):
He knew after he knew after game one. He just
waited to say it, right, That's why he asked, you know, right? Yeah, okay,
So what then happens? The fear would be from a
fans perspective, you become selfish. I'm gonna get mine even
though we stink. What's the biggest fear from a from
a player.
Speaker 8 (01:34:11):
Standpoint now is the time where like, if that's what
the case is, you're bad. That's my phone right at
the end of the day. This is when you dial
in if you know the team is asked, if you
know that you guys aren't going to the playoffs, et cetera,
et cetera. This is what the professionalism side comes in.
Are you still coming to the facility? Are you still
taking care of your body? Are you not going out
party and getting drunk and coming into the facilities smelling
(01:34:32):
like bullze like? Are you taking care of your body?
Are you doing the things that you're supposed to be doing.
Are you still coaching? But are you still dialing into
the playbook? Because there is a season regardless of the
fact that they're going for guess what, thirteen games left.
This is the trial run for how you get other jobs.
This is how you, This is how you. What's the
word I'm gonna interview? It's an interview process. What do
coaches look like? What do players do? Because if you
(01:34:54):
tap out because your team is trash, guess what, it's
not gonna be a good look. And now when I
turn the film on, because Iron this guy there's not
a lie. The iron this guy never lies. So like,
what does it look like when I turned the film
on a insert player here, Tony Pollard or cam Ward
or Calvin Ridley. Because when you turn that film on,
it's not good.
Speaker 6 (01:35:13):
Yeah, that's good stuff. Man, there's no doubt you can
tell there are certain players. It's got to be really hard.
It's got to be almost impossible to try and get
through a season when you're already zero to four people
are looking around and have that sense of you know what,
I've got to start playing for myself because I need
to hit certain incentives. I got to play for myself
(01:35:34):
because I could be playing somewhere else next year, or
I got to play for myself so I can show
this coaching staff if they are going to be around
that I deserve it. That's one of the many things
that I loved about I loved about Jim Caldwell. Those
guys played their asses off for him. They respected that man.
He got the most out of his players. You could
(01:35:56):
tell now you may not think he's a great coach
on Sunday, that's your parade Monday through Saturday. The buy
in full board for a guy like that. And look,
I covered Rod Marinelli and the Lions and they were
own sixteen and I'm not going to try and tell
anybody he was a great coach. Those guys did play hard,
and maybe some of it is because they didn't want
(01:36:17):
they didn't want to be embarrassed and be the first
h to sixteen team, and they were, but they did
play relatively hard. It was a good comment from everybody there.
We appreciate it. We want many of your more comments
here in the chat, and of course we want anything
questions that you might have for Braylan here on the
Bailn Edwards Show. Quick time out, bottom of the ninth,
Tiger's up to one. There's a perfect example, by the way,
(01:36:40):
why so many people question this team. They get the
first two men aboard, they move them over to second
and third, and it's strikeout, strikeout, And that's that's where
there's an uneasy feeling, right or wrong. There's an uneasy
feeling for some people, like that's not how you win
playoff games.
Speaker 7 (01:36:57):
They're the wrong lob city right now.
Speaker 6 (01:36:59):
You can't strike out as much as they do. And
Jose Ramirez, now here's a beautiful play the hobby up
the up the middle. That's a throwing error that gets
by Torklsen and Ramiro's is gonna go all the way
to third. But I was gonna say that's a hell
of a play. But aj Hinch put his guy in
the right spot, they moved him up the middle. He
(01:37:20):
just threw it away. The throwing errors are unacceptable. Both
teams have made an air. We're back on the Brilin
Edwards Show after this from Black Rock.
Speaker 8 (01:37:27):
Try to steak a lobster, which is nineteen ninety nine,
or if you want to get real brazen, why don't
you try Raislin Shoe I said, brazen, why don't you
try Braylen's beat. Guess what that is a twenty hours
handcut in New York strip to get you in the game.
Black Rock, Man, it is the place of Silzel. But
the deals they won't last long. So that's steak and Lobster.
It is there now, but it is the limits of
time deal, and so is Braylan's be But also we
(01:37:50):
want to get you in.
Speaker 15 (01:37:51):
Man.
Speaker 8 (01:37:51):
Look when the Lions win, so do you and you
can win at black Rock. When the Lions win, you
go to black Rock that same thing. Guess what, free appetizer,
that's what we do.
Speaker 6 (01:38:01):

some really good smoothies, and we've got black Rock maybe tonight.
For a lot of you folks out there, that steak
and Lobster looks so good. You want to look good
when you walk into black Rock, don't you. That means

And we are back right. Tigers beat them. They beat
them two to one, so Cleveland. Here's what Cleveland's gonna do.
Cleveland is going to regret the ninth inning. We talked
about opportunity and knocking on that door, and the Tigers
had plenty of opportunities to extend their lead. They went
(01:42:38):
at two to one. Cleveland had the leadoff man in
the ninth at third base because of an error by
hobby or bias. Even though people in our Woodward Sports
group checks ad oh no torque, oh no bias and
what did you get? Strikeout? Tap her back to the mound.
Runner was running on contact. That'll be Cleveland's Woodward Sports.
They'll be screaming left and right.
Speaker 7 (01:42:59):
How can you pop? Possibly go?
Speaker 6 (01:43:00):
You're going on contact and then pop up. That's how
you get it done. A four out save for will Fest.
So there it is. Congratulations to the Tigers. They're up
one game to none.
Speaker 8 (01:43:11):
That was a good win for them. That's one of
those things too, you Cleveland, when you have to play
that type of style of baseball, just sports in general.
Down the stretch like they've exerted a lot of energy,
a lot of effort, a lot of momentum, Like you
wonder where their meter is at. You know, you went
to withere. That meter is that to have that comeback
to they were in third, you know, before they start
(01:43:31):
that journey back to finish out and close the division out.
So where's their meter? At Man, good win by your
Tigers and your boys. Schoogl yep. I said he'd be
I said he. I won't take any credit.
Speaker 6 (01:43:43):
Well, you did say he would be a dominating force
and he was fourteen strikeouts ties a Tigers playoff record,
the dominating force along one just one run and the
dominating force only allowing three hits. You can't pitch any
better than that a season, I into seven pitches. So
he's the reason.
Speaker 8 (01:44:03):
Speaking speaking of dominating forces, I can't wait this week
in Braylen's breakdown, I'm going to finally break down Aiden Hutchison.
Been waiting for the right moment, been waiting for some
film to break down hutch been waiting for hutch to
feel that hutch you know, going back to this offseason,
going back to training camp, going back to when we
started doing the show together. For me, it was always
(01:44:24):
being a guy that's done, had an injury, a major injury,
turning myt acl and coming back. Game four is about
the time I said, you feel he'll be back, you'll
fill the aid and Hutchison in game four. And you
look at him where he is currently. We talked about
this the other day. He's four and a half sacks
right now and No. Four he's a four. I guess
he has a sixth place right now. Four games, four sacks.
(01:44:47):
He's beating triple teams the last two games in a row.
You've seen him beat a triple team. They have the
highlights and the footage of it. But we're gonna break
it down. We're gonna talk about the bend and everything
about it, and also we will break down Tate Rallis
because Tate Raleiss had some very meaningful snaps against uh
Mason Graham. So that's what you got from this week.
You got the defensive line as well as super excited
(01:45:08):
for that one to just receivers.
Speaker 6 (01:45:10):
We're gonna we're gonna have Braylan Edwards on both Wednesday
and Thursdays. But speaking of Aiden Hutchinson, I'm sure you'll
talk more about it tomorrow when you do Braylan's breakdown.
But there are he's not the odds on favorite to
win Defensive Player of the Year, so you mentioned sex.
Daniel Hunter has four, Miles Garrett has four.
Speaker 8 (01:45:30):
So that would be my answer when we were talking
about the best tandems when I said it was not
the Lion best tand to me right now is Will
Anderson Jr. And Daniel Hunter.
Speaker 6 (01:45:38):
That's a good one. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:45:39):
I think they're the best Tanner right now. Stat wise,
I mean, you have to see what they're doing. But
I believe that they.
Speaker 6 (01:45:44):
Are the best. Daniel Hunter, as I mentioned, with four,
Will Anderson Junior with three. So that's that's getting after.
It's a good point, yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:45:52):
Saying, but just getting back to a Hudgsons.
Speaker 6 (01:45:54):
Yeah, questions defense, he's the odds on favorite to wh
he started to play. I'm sorry.
Speaker 8 (01:45:59):
I appreciate that he he started season as the favorite.
He was tired for the favorite to win Defensive Player
year with Miles Garrett. I want to say or I
think he may have had him by a percentage percentage
point in terms of odds on favorite, which I thought
was odd him coming off the come off to major injury.
Speaker 6 (01:46:14):
But there it was.
Speaker 8 (01:46:16):
Game one, Game two, goes down a little bit and
then he gets into rhythm. It's part for the course,
it's part for the course right now, because now they're
starting to see before Aiden's good when he's one on one.
That's what it was two years ago, That's what it
was three years ago. Last year he started to beat
the double team. That's what you saw in those first
four games. Everybody got excited. He had to get back
(01:46:37):
to that, I believe for them to want to keep
him there, and that's what he's doing. That's why it's
gone back to odds on favorite because they're seeing, Yep,
that's the guy from the start of last season.
Speaker 6 (01:46:47):
Yep. Injury fine, Yep, he's good. And that's how he's operating.
Speaker 8 (01:46:51):
When you start seeing triple teams getting beat, start jumping
over people. I saw that play like running back try
to come undercut him a little bit two weeks ago.
That was against the Ravens. He jumps over and running back.
So he is operating like you want to see. Adias
in ninety seven is doing ninety seven things.
Speaker 6 (01:47:08):
He's he's obviously you like Brian Burns a lot. You've
talked about him before. He leading I think he leads
the league in sacks. He's not a better he's with five. No,
there are different types of players, yes, different types of player.
I'm just saying he's a guy. I'm giving you credit.
I recognize him early on, he and Byron.
Speaker 8 (01:47:24):
I wanted him here, like when he was leaving Carolina
and Carolina, you know, did the deal with New York Giants.
I wanted Brian Burns here. I thought he would be
the good of his side. And this was way before
you would have had to pay eight. Yeah, because this
would have been twenty twenty three. This has been a
twenty three season. Because this is Brian burns second second
year in New York twenty three, twenty four to twenty five,
so this has been last year. Yeah, okay, it has
(01:47:46):
been last year. That's who the guy I wanted for him.
Speaker 6 (01:47:48):
On the other side. I understand why. Yeah, because he's
a hell of a player. Rashan Gary, by the way,
your buddy four and a half sacks. So I don't
know if that's because I'm like a Parsons, but there
is an effect, right, there is there's an effect there.
I'm sure that Michael Parsons has made for green Bay
to allow him to free up a little bit. If
I'm going to say that about Aiden Hutchinson helping Mohammed
(01:48:10):
on one side, and I've got to be fair and
recognize that. Now, I would say were Seauan Gary's better
than Muhammad. Al could Muhammad, but both of them have
been good enough and a big reason why Detroit has
been able to dial it up a little bit. And
credit to Kelvin Shepard too, because he's found a way
to get others involved, whether it be Brian Branch on blitzes,
Alex Azeloni on blitzes, or a guy like Derek Barnes.
(01:48:33):
The thing that concerned me over the last couple of weeks,
I've noticed that Jack Campbell has come in on some blitzes.
He hasn't been able to get home yet, and I
would like to see him get home a little bit more,
even though I think he's he's had a hell of
a season so far.
Speaker 8 (01:48:46):
Here you go, were Sean Gary last year in Sex.
I guess it's skew because he was out there. Well, No,
here we go Sean Gary last year Sex he had
seven and a half. Oh, okay, I was gonna say
nine seven and a half the whole season. Currently after
four games he has four and a half. You tell
me what the big difference is.
Speaker 6 (01:49:05):
Yeah, it's part of it. You can't deny it's it's
the reason, it's what we taught. Let's face it. The
reason so many people wanted a guy resigned here who
came from Cleveland last year at the trade deadline is
because he was so successful in Cleveland opposite Miles Garrett.
It's okay to admit that great players have effect on
(01:49:28):
teams that they're playing against. But great players also affect
other players on their team. That's a positive.
Speaker 8 (01:49:34):
You liked it, you liked the half ad minute though,
you like to be like, yeah, that's part of it.
Just exaid repeater, have to me, Micah Parsons being there
allows the Sean Gary to go one on one a lot.
Speaker 6 (01:49:45):
Micah Parsons being there allowed for Sean Gary to go
one on one a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:49:50):
There you go.
Speaker 6 (01:49:52):
It is just for the I hope people don't think
that I'm a hater on You're not on Michael Parsons
because I like him a lot. I think the narrative
has been shoved down our throat that he's the difference.
He's a big difference. He's a difference maker around any
TV he plays for. But I don't know, you know,
in the first couple of games that he's played there,
(01:50:14):
like they made this big deal out of him against Dallas.
He had the sack on Dak Prescott, who you said
is really slow, which is great. He chased him from behind.
He's got two sacks. He's got a sack of Jared
goff on a passing situation who's flushed from the pocket
and Julie could catch him from.
Speaker 8 (01:50:31):
Behind, so that I don't know, not this new Jared
goff Man, he's got a wiggle to him.
Speaker 6 (01:50:36):
I'll let's get to the mail bag and any super
chats here on the Brillan Edward Show, Shall we kool ad?
What do we got? Definitely?
Speaker 9 (01:50:41):
Man?
Speaker 13 (01:50:41):
And I saw one that came in a little bit earlier.
I saved this one for Bray was addressed directly to him.
Let me get to that one real quick. All right,
here it is, It says, mail bag brain with the
hamstring injury, how much of a concern is it to
reinjure it throughout your career?
Speaker 7 (01:50:59):
And I will just kind of tackle on like any
type of like injury that like the growing injury that
Taron Otto.
Speaker 6 (01:51:05):
Has as well.
Speaker 8 (01:51:06):
Yeah, soft belly in juries as it relates to the
muscle man they're you know, you gotta keep an eye them,
you gotta watch them, you gotta take care of them.
But uh, that just comes with maintenance, overtime, and there's
little things that you could do before practice, after practice, stretches, drills.
You just really got to take your time with your
warm up. I think a lot of guys, you know,
they just want to go out there and hit it.
They just want to go out there and play. They
(01:51:27):
come out to practice sometimes last second, last minute, and
throw the hammelet on and they start the jog and
you do the regular warm up that you know the
strength and conditioning coach will get for you. Sometimes it's
not enough, and sometimes you gotta get out there, you know,
an extra thirty minutes earlier. Sometimes you gotta get to
the training room extra forty five, get your little ultrasound,
get your things, get the get the hamstring moment, get
(01:51:47):
it warmed up, get the hamstring warmed up. And I
al ran track back in the day when I was
in high school and even at Michigan, my dad would
not let me warm up without two pair of sweats on.
Like I had to have two pair of sweats on
and tights and I had like a pre and girdle
like that's how I warmed up to make sure I
was right ready to rock and roll. And then you
take all that off, sweats dripping everywhere before the game.
(01:52:07):
But that's how I warmed up. Like that's what he's
going to have to do moving forward. Make sure you
get that thing warmed up, because you know, and sometimes
terri conditions is just not enough. It's just wind sprints
and you know, some over and bags and some heinies
and some calf raises.
Speaker 6 (01:52:23):
You need more.
Speaker 8 (01:52:24):
Sometimes you are you're a Lamborghini. You are a Lamborghini.
Sometimes you have to treat a Lamborghini as such.
Speaker 6 (01:52:30):
Coach by the way, Drago and the chat said, oh
my favorite movie all time, Rocky is why I don't
like this show. Breaking news and they're not talking about it. Well,
you're maybe you were a little late. We did talk
about it. We talked about dominating school. We've actually broken
in giving you updates throughout the show, So be careful
when you get your fingers a little type happy, because
(01:52:52):
you're wrong there. I think we talk about it. We
mentioned Schooble, We mentioned how Cleveland regrets that ninth inning
put in the lead off man talk about her an
hour and a half. Yeah, I don't know where you
guys did a good job of it. I appreciate. I
don't know where you've been, but we've we've broken in
giving you a lot of updates and giving credit to
Scoogle for what he's done with one hundred and seven
pitches and fourteen strikeouts, and the Tigers taking Game one
(01:53:14):
doesn't surprise us at all. Game two at the same
time tomorrow.
Speaker 13 (01:53:17):
Come on, bro, It's like man, look man, they gave
you guys a sarcuterie board of Detroit sports today. Everything
that was important, they gave it to you from Detroit
Pistons media day, the first practice of training camp, the
Tigers playoffs.
Speaker 1 (01:53:28):
And football.
Speaker 8 (01:53:28):
See now, I'm man, because you know, I was excited
when I heard drag on my favorite movie all times.
You pissed me off, like I legitimately was ready to
talk from Rocket for the old Drago.
Speaker 6 (01:53:37):
You know are you?
Speaker 8 (01:53:38):
Are you also a Dolph Lundren fan? Does this extend
to you know, Red Scorpion other movies? But but you know,
what the hell would you?
Speaker 6 (01:53:45):
What are you trying to break us? That's a Dragos.
I must have been and for Aaron to say you
must have talked about second again incorrect. The entire show,
We've been talking about a lot of tigers. SERVI is
there a better mind that I'm done talking tigers?
Speaker 8 (01:54:01):
The better mind tize scene than Rocky four where he's
training for Rocky for for Drago.
Speaker 6 (01:54:07):
I love the where he's got the big tree trunk
on his shoulders and bouncing around to make his legs stronger.
Speaker 8 (01:54:16):
That's when he was in the us R.
Speaker 6 (01:54:18):
Man the USSR. Excuse me, my mistass. Yeah, yeah, that
was that.
Speaker 8 (01:54:22):
I'm telling you, like I used to watch that movie.
People gonna say I'm lying when I said you're wrong.
I watched Rocky four before every game I played at Michigan,
and then before every game I maybe like the first
seven my rookie year. It goes back to what we
talked really, it goes back to what we talked about,
you know, and you know my team was trash. We
we were butt cheeks. So it got to the point
(01:54:44):
where before the night of the game, I'm like, I
ain't watching that. I'm about to watch the mouth. But yes,
every every Friday night I watched Rocky four.
Speaker 6 (01:54:51):
That is so cool. What would what would be the
movie you watch for inspiration?
Speaker 7 (01:54:57):
Kool A hmmm, shees, that's actually a good.
Speaker 4 (01:55:02):
Man.
Speaker 13 (01:55:03):
That's a good one. I remember the I was gonna say,
that's a great one. Titans, and I also love though
Coach Carter. I'm a coach guy, and I love both
of those films.
Speaker 6 (01:55:12):
I love Surprising that you went basketball. But I give
you credit for that.
Speaker 11 (01:55:16):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:55:17):
My son used to watch Miracle every before every great movie.
Speaker 1 (01:55:21):
That's a great one.
Speaker 6 (01:55:22):
Yeah, so that really got him charged up.
Speaker 9 (01:55:25):
Ryan, I would either watch Gladiator or The Mirror called Ice.
Speaker 7 (01:55:31):
Speech.
Speaker 9 (01:55:32):
Just the speech, just the speech, because I think, because
I think that is the greatest speech that I've ever
seen in cinema.
Speaker 6 (01:55:41):
My maximum Decimus Meridian, Are you not entertained?
Speaker 8 (01:55:45):
Father of a murdered wife? Said father, murdered son, husband
of a murdered wife, And I will have my revenge
in this knife or the next.
Speaker 6 (01:55:52):
I love that. Oh here you go.
Speaker 8 (01:55:53):
I got a quote for you too, since that's your movie.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our
deepest fear is that we are power beyond measure. It
is our light, not our darkness, that frightened that most
frightens us. We ask ourselves? Who am I to be?
Speaker 6 (01:56:08):
Brilliant?
Speaker 8 (01:56:08):
Gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God? That was from coach Carr.
Speaker 6 (01:56:16):
That was the.
Speaker 8 (01:56:16):
Infamous speech that he he recites as he gets back.
Speaker 6 (01:56:19):
On the team. Good job, that's a good job like that?
What is our deepest film?
Speaker 8 (01:56:25):
There we go, all you guys go, what about your chet? Answer?
Speaker 6 (01:56:28):
Well, my favorite movie is Braveheart. That inspires me.
Speaker 8 (01:56:31):
William Wallace.
Speaker 6 (01:56:32):
I don't mind that. Yeah, I am William Wallace. You can't.
Speaker 8 (01:56:36):
He's you know when they killed his wife?
Speaker 6 (01:56:38):
Get fired up, like when they killed his wife.
Speaker 8 (01:56:40):
And he's slow walking on the horse down the village
and he puts got his hands up and then right
before he gets there, he pulls out the longest sword
I've ever seen.
Speaker 17 (01:56:51):
Well, it's the spiked excuse the guy in the way
his face is like so was in about it. It
looks like Riley Green trying to hit him like that straight.
Speaker 6 (01:57:01):
Pretty awesome.
Speaker 7 (01:57:02):
Pretty was another good one too.
Speaker 6 (01:57:04):
All those are really good movies. I could see why.
But that's that's really cool that Braylan did it for
that long college am pro tell us. You something all
right to the mailbag, we go. I know a lot
of people are like you know, they're upset about certain things. Again,
we Braylan and I know why you're tuning in a
little bit later, and we respect it because you were
watching the Tigers as you should as you should be. Yeah,
(01:57:27):
we we've been updating people. We've been talking Tigers throughout
the entire show.
Speaker 8 (01:57:32):
Who are all I am?
Speaker 6 (01:57:33):
I am a little disappointed. I loved what schoobl did,
a little disappointed they didn't take more advantage off some
of their scoring opportunities. They won two to one. Let's
hope they get that fixed.
Speaker 8 (01:57:45):
Where all those people that said they didn't want the
Tigers to make the playoffs make the postseason? Because what's
that feeling that you have right now? With the Tigers
eating one notice to get to play Round two? What
is the feeling you have right now? Yeah, you know
it's gonna be people who say it what I wasn't me.
I don't want to learn their lesson.
Speaker 6 (01:58:03):
What would the lesson be?
Speaker 7 (01:58:04):
We clipped the comments we got all in four K.
Speaker 6 (01:58:08):
That is so true.
Speaker 13 (01:58:12):
Charles McClain says, if the Tiger series goes to game three,
ship Montero or Melton start that game. The Seattle series
starts Saturday, Schooba won't be ready for Game one. That way,
either Mice or Flarity starts game one.
Speaker 1 (01:58:25):
Yeah give me.
Speaker 6 (01:58:26):
Melton, Yeah, I wouldn't start cater Montero. My guess is
that my starts tomorrow Flarity game three. First of all,
it won't be a game three.
Speaker 8 (01:58:36):
This thing's over, you know what, Dante one five to one?
Speaker 13 (01:58:39):
Before you still listen thunder, He says, mel bag can
we just get to game two already so we can
see the Tigers eliminate the Guardians from playoff action.
Speaker 7 (01:58:47):
But to be honest, what a high intensity nine?
Speaker 6 (01:58:49):
And yeah, I think it's going three. Personally, neither team
was very good with runners in scoring position today. Detroit
one for seven, Cleveland one for eight or vice First,
I'm sorry, Detroit one for eight, Cleveland one for seven. Uh,
that is that's tough to take. Combine, they leave eleven
on base, So it shows you how imperative the pitching
(01:59:12):
has been already. And that's the way it's been all
season long these two teams. It's gonna be close tomorrow,
we would expect, because that's the way it's been all
season long between these two teams, and my guess is
it's it's going the distance. But I hope you're right.
I hope that Pagans take care of business tomorrow.
Speaker 8 (01:59:26):
Paybag is a dish, best serve coat.
Speaker 6 (01:59:28):
The Tigers will close tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (01:59:30):
Mass that like button for the Detroit Tigers. Now let's
go a win.
Speaker 6 (01:59:34):
Love it anything else before we're out of here? You
know what?
Speaker 13 (01:59:37):
This is a This is a fun one because I
believe that the answer is just push button, Schooble.
Speaker 7 (01:59:42):
But I do think that it does.
Speaker 13 (01:59:44):
It's good to pay some set somebody on this. So
Detroit Gunny says, Melbag more impressive, schoogle start or will
Vests escaping in the ninth.
Speaker 8 (01:59:55):
I would say schools start, so would I. I don't
say anything negative.
Speaker 6 (02:00:00):
You got to win.
Speaker 8 (02:00:01):
I'll just say school star is more and presently.
Speaker 13 (02:00:03):
But there I agree, Oh yeah, I think that will
Vest made me very comfortable Maybay with what that bullpen
can be after some up some downs.
Speaker 7 (02:00:10):
But schoobl went out there.
Speaker 6 (02:00:12):
And rested bullpen for tomorrow too. By the way, that's
the key. Whoa school That is the key. So you
still have tomorrow. You have Finnegan. You have Kinley if
you choose to use him right, you have Holton if
you choose to use him herd or if you think
it's really important. You have so many different arms from
(02:00:33):
which to choose him. Quite honestly, will vest will pitch
back to back games. He can't. He only threw fifteen pitches,
so that's an easy thing. What Schooble allowed you to
do is not just feel you and I oh, thankfully
he went more than seven innings. He goes seven and
two thirds through one hundred and seven pitches. The reason
the one oh seven is really important and deep into
a game is because you save the bullpen for tomorrow.
(02:00:55):
That allows h and Hitch to be much shorter with
his starter. If his starter, whoever that starter may be,
is a struggle to start, you can go right to
the bullpen and still manage to yourself.
Speaker 13 (02:01:07):
And I'll take one hundred and seven pitches over eight innes.
If it's school, I'll definitely take that.
Speaker 8 (02:01:12):
This just in it, just in it is four one.
Speaker 6 (02:01:14):
Don't worry.
Speaker 8 (02:01:15):
Tomorrow we will be talking lines and we will be
talking football and.
Speaker 6 (02:01:18):
We will have a Braillan breakdown. Hope you can join
us for that. We're looking forward to it tomorrow here

Speaker 7 (02:01:29):

Speaker 1 (02:01:31):
But on the way out, everyone wonder what goes on
inside the game.
Speaker 14 (02:01:35):
Deep Balls, got a man and gun it toutch down, Brailer.
Speaker 2 (02:01:40):
Edwards join Brailan Edwards and shafter Edwards has a pot.
Speaker 1 (02:01:44):
Cuts down the show.
Speaker 15 (02:01:47):
