Speaker 3 (00:57):
This is the Edwards Show. What's going on here?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Welcome on Thursday. Brendan's back with us. He's got his
penny soul jersey on.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Let's go all right, He's fired up.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Kool age with us. He's in a great mood.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
Even though his team lost last night. That's all right,
all right, And of course to good luck is to
my right.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
Yeah, they needed to bray out there last night.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
They did.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
They Bray needed to fly to Milwaukee and tell them,
you know, even though Jana Santa Tecumpo left after three
minutes and it is out two to four weeks. By
the way, it was a bad loss.
Speaker 3 (01:31):
And that's okay.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
By the way, it's it's okay to admit that there
are bad losses.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Right.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
We've losed to certain teams, to say it, Lions lose
to certain teams, to say it, Tigers lose to certain teams.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
We're gonna say that, right, bad loss. Okay, it happens.
He's still what's happened too often? Right? Definitely? Who stole
my airviire? Somebody? Uh, we've got a little thief around here.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Apparently today is National Cookie Day.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Now, the other day we were talking about donuts.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I was pretty hungry, Brennan. You weren't here, kg was
in the booth. But today you get to tell us
about your favorite cookie. Give me your favorite cookie, if
you could have one cookie today. If you want to
go Alim mode, go right ahead. I don't care. Give
me your favorite cookie. I'm National Cookie Day.
Speaker 3 (02:21):
Oldest spunk Meyer oatmell raisin.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Oooh, I like that oatmeal raisin sounds really good. What
makes it special. Does it have a little bit of
a little cinnamon in it or what is it?
Speaker 5 (02:34):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
Some chewy and medal about to mix with the oats
and raisin is very chewy. I don't know. I just
always gravitated towards Oma Raising sugar cookies from Miss Fields
back in the day were lights out white Macadamian nice,
but Oma Raising, no matter what the brand old cheese
because I used to work at the Start Theater and
there was a coffee shop that used to sell these
(02:56):
oldest punk myers, and then they also were in Subway
at one point in time. I'm telling you, but they
were just really good and I'm always gravitated towards them
day I used to get them back in the day.
And all right, so here's the next question.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Anytime I think of cookies, I think of cookies and milk,
just because when I was a kid.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Is that your go to with milk as well? The
oatmeal raisin cookies in general, just go with milk, Okay,
cook cookies in general. Like if it's if I'm in
a milk crazy, it's probably gonna because it's my favorite cookie.
But if I'm one of those milk crazies. You know,
for cookies, it doesn't matter what cookies on tap as
long as it's heated up. Though, there you go. You
gotta heat it. You gotta heat the milk. You gotta
(03:37):
eat the cookie up. Cookies and milk. I like it
the milk, not the milk.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
Don't eat your milk up unless you're pouring it into cocoa.
I like warm milk and coco.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Christmas may not make it to Christmas, but you'll sleep well.
Kool aid.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Yes, favorite cookie on National Cookie Day.
Speaker 6 (03:54):
On National TV Day, Dallas Cowboys just gonna be a
star to shave right now.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
But you threw me for a moment. You got me back,
all right.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
Peanut butter it has to be.
Speaker 6 (04:07):
Yeah, I love peanut butter, but it has to have
little chips and peanuts in it, and little peanut butter
and white chocolate chunks in there.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
White chocolate chunks. Yes, I had butter and white chocolate chunks.
That's interesting.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
It was it was it was fire, so it was fine, Okay,
it was.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
My mom used to make those and she would take
her fork and kind of make some fork uh designs
in the peanut butter cookie. And that's how we knew
we could tell that from some of the others.
Speaker 6 (04:32):
Man the same, something very similar from Deep South.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
All right, there you go.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
That sounds good. It sounds good, all right, Brendan National
Cookie Day.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Your favorite cookie is what?
Speaker 7 (04:44):
I gotta agree with Braylon on the oatmeal and not
the rays oatmeal with butter scotch and chocolate chips.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
Oh, that's a whole different cookie.
Speaker 7 (04:55):
Yeah, my mom makes them a lot. They are the best.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
Well what the hell she waiting for?
Speaker 5 (04:59):
Why did she?
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Let's go right?
Speaker 5 (05:03):
All right?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
And and that that's good with milk?
Speaker 5 (05:06):
Then right right?
Speaker 2 (05:09):
So my mom used to every year around Christmas she
would make us all a tinful of homemade cookies. And
my favorite were She called them chocolate drops. It was
a chocolate base with some nuts in it and white
icing on top. And I could sit there and eat
a tray full of them, Absolutely love them and would
(05:29):
go really well with with milk. How do we feel
about Snickerdoodles? I like, I love snickerdoodle? You think okay?
So that usually I can't find many people say it's okay.
Usually I'm like, i'd find people who are really into
them or people against them.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
I think anything with snickering, it is gonna be a
level of decent. But would but I would, you know, snickers,
like certain things are just their perfection Snickers, whether the skills,
whether Coo Ranch doritos, like some things just as is.
But I tend to agree with Brendan like Sniaker doodle
a bit overrated.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
Okay, not not a tony. Listen, there's no offense taken here.
I'm just wondering about it. Last question on cookies, and
I'm gonna move forward anytime. Like I say, I think
of cookies, I think of milk. If you had the radio,
fork to nose, fork to nose, because when I was
a kid, it was either oreos or chips a Hoy.
(06:29):
And I know neither one is good for you. I
understand that. I'm just asking when you were a kid,
If that's the choice, what are you doing with milk?
Is it Oreos? The regular? Not the double stuff? Not
the kind of Christmas where you get the green or
the red inside or.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Shake first and foremost like Oreoles blows chips a Hoy
out of the water. It's not even close, but there
is a sleeper. They chipped. So when I was younger,
they did have a sleeper all right, what was it?
The Soft and Cheli red bag? Chips a Hoy Soft
(07:07):
and Cheli Red bag. And they didn't sell it at
all times a year. You can only get like spring
maybe like twice a year. But that bag was that
bag was pretty pretty unstoppable. But yeah, I'm an Orioles guy.
But chips a Hoy is better with milk? You think
chips a Hoy, I think it was better with milk.
Even Dunky and neither one of them are really great
(07:28):
with milk.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
I think I think, I think it's a really hard choice.
I think both are fantastic with milk.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
I think chips a Hoy might be better than Oreos
as it relates to with milk.
Speaker 2 (07:36):
Okay, all right, so you're you're on the chips a
Hoy team kool Aid? Is it chips a Hoy or
Oreos with milk? On National Cookie Day?
Speaker 6 (07:45):
Ah, getting a scratch, It's gotta be chips a Hoy.
It's just something about the crispiness of it. It just
blends so well with the milk. Man, you can't leave
it in there too long, but just right, man, it's
the perfect.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
I don't know, like it is super sweet cookie already
and then you had the milk to it. I think
that's what does it for me, is like, all right,
diabetes on them? Are you dropping it in the glass
of milk? Half half drop drop the half, eat it,
eat the half, and then a long way dunk again.
Speaker 6 (08:19):
Wait, and then that last little piece you just kind
of you gotta go and then.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
And then dive in for another one. To go to
the store and get cookies today. I'm sorry. I'm sorry,
chips a Hoy or Oreo Brendon.
Speaker 7 (08:32):
I'll take the diabetes. I'm taking Oreos.
Speaker 3 (08:37):
Yellow bag of Oreoles. I know you don't like the remix,
but the yellow bag Oreoles vanilla it's not bad.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Not bad.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
And the living one I can't do it.
Speaker 5 (08:46):
I just can't.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
A little ta back, yeah, I know, I'm going through
the road.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
So there's a there's also the chocolate covered and white
chocolate covered oreoles. You want to get a sugar rush,
that's the one that eat. Yeah, And I try to
avoid those as well. That is always I've struggled with that.
Between Orioles and chips a Hoy, I've leaned towards chips
a Hoy as well with with milk. But when I
was a kid, it was primarily oreos, so good stuff.
(09:13):
Happy National Cookie Day to all of you out there.
And there's a lot of people in the chat already saying,
you know what, I always got to drink milk with cookies.
I don't even eat cookies if I don't have a
glass of milk. And then there's oreoles or Famous Amos,
which is not a bad one either that but those
are chocolate chips, Famous amos.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
He has a horrible story, man, I like fo I
found out having famous aims, creative, famous amiens, the cookies,
not I don't tell. I don't know the story.
Speaker 5 (09:44):
Tell it.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
Yeah, he's he created a company, but you know, you
don't know what you don't know when you sign in
paperwork and things of that nature. Got the company taken
up from right up underneath me. Like now he lives
at the y m c A in La, Like he's homeless.
Speaker 7 (10:00):
He passed away.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
I think, oh he did, yeah you know a little bit.
Speaker 7 (10:03):
Yeah, they're they're putting him on they're putting like his
name or something on the bags now that he's passed away.
But when he was alive, they didn't do anything.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
How do you do that to somebody?
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Really? I mean, because people really live by that the
business creed the business model, Like it's not our fault
that you didn't know what you didn't know. It's not
our fault you didn't read the language, or you didn't
have somebody read the language. And I think people in
business a lot of times not saying it's right or wrong.
I don't think it's particularly a nice gesture, but they
don't care. Like your obligation when you get this piece
(10:36):
of paper is to thoroughly go through it. And if
you don't know what it is, that's not our problem.
That's how they operate. It's human that's human decency. If
you know that the original owner of the originator of
what's made you a very successful living is living in
a y M c A, I would guess there's something
you could at least do something for him. Speaking of that,
(10:57):
I'm going to the game tonight.
Speaker 2 (10:59):
Okay, all right, I got some good people who associated
with me in there. We're gonna be the Suite's Braillen
Edwards thing. We're gonna be on the field first. But
in order for you to be on the field, you
know what you have to do you have to sign
a waiver?
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Yeah, you're not about to get kicked out a you know,
I might be.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Has anyone ever read through those things? I'm used to
going on the field with a press pass tonight it's
not the case.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Okay, I'm guilty. I don't read anything.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
It is.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
So long, it is so.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
It is so long and so small in the verbiage
that I can't imagine anybody. You just scroll down and right,
except right, That's basically what I do. It's almost like
it's it's the airlines type of agreement to you. Just
scroll through it and you write your name and you say,
we're all good to go anyway. So excited for tomorrow too.
(11:59):
To talk a little bit about the experience for tonight
last night, Hell of an experience for you. Right, you
got birthday? Or is the birthday night? The birthday is tonight.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
MAM's birthday is today. Happy birthday, mom, Happy birthday, celebrating
fantastic twenty one. There you go, the smart man. You're
a good man. You're a smart man. Pretty fun like
you said, dinner's that big rock tonight. So excited about that.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
You know it's gonna be on how many people are
going to be around the table tonight eight eight. Okay,
all right, it's gonna be a lot of fun for you.
All right, Bill, will you will you sing Happy Birthday?
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Did you already?
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Make sure she's got a cake or a cupcake or
something along those lines. Maybe a cookie because it's a
National cookie day.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
We have something in line for her. Yeah, she has
a cake. You know, we'll do the kid the home song,
dan'sy cake. They'll bring it out pretty sure. They'll do
us a favor.
Speaker 8 (12:43):
You know.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
He won't charge this extra for all that jazz if
you will, but it'd be cool. I want to make
sure she feels special, make sure she knows she's value,
make sure that her birthday. I'm a big birthday guy.
I think birthdays are very important. You know, when you
take a trip around the sun, you know, no matter if
you're turning three or blah blah, you know you have
a lot to be thankful for and you've seen a
lot come in that space, and so you should be celebrated.
(13:06):
Life is precious birthdays. I'm a big birthday guy.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
Are you a big birthday party guy?
Speaker 3 (13:12):
I used to myself or other.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
For you and for your kids too.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
I mean, I was a big birthday guy when I
was younger. Like when I was younger, I was like, hey,
look we're gonna party for a month. Yeah, we're gonna
set it off for a month, do all the things,
go to Vegas, go to Miami, set up for partyers
here as well. Now as i'm otor, I'm like, it's
just another day for me.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
I like celebrating people other people's birthday because we used
to do that with our kids, and then suddenly certain
members of our families all right, we're not gonna do
this anymore.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
I'm like, Okay, you don't have.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
To do it, but we're gonna keep doing it for ours.
We're gonna celebrate it. We think it's a big deal.
It's a big day for us as parents, and I
hope it's a big deal for them, so that's great.
It's a big game tonight with the Lions and the Cowboys.
We're gonna talk a ton of football here with Bridlan
Edwards tonight, and we are going to do that when
we come back, We're gonna take a quick time out
here on the Brailan Edwards Show here from Ben Johnson
(14:02):
and Artin Jakes, and when we come back. It's Lions
and Cowboys, Keys to Victory, Top ten teams, and a
whole lot more special guests. Yeah, and we've got some
special guests as well. It's gonna be a really fun
show as always here on Woodward.

(22:32):
wave with Sun Cruiser and Woodward Sports. He we bet
speaking of the Lions, Amon Ross Saint Brown is kind
of like a game time decision. I believe I haven't
seen anything to say other than that I'd be surprised
if he plays. Doesn't look like Kirby Joseph is playing,
(22:53):
So you're gonna have the secondary similar to that of Tampa,
which scares the living hell out of me. Be honest
with him. Let's take first things first. A'manra Saint Brown?
What do they miss without him specifically? And how can
he help if he indeed does play.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
I wrote some things down because I thought it was
a really good question as it relates to Amara Saint Brown.
Where is one of the biggest things too, is you
know he's it's his on field IQ. When you have
amar ros sat Brown out there, you got a guy
that knows the offense just as well as Jared Goff.
He's able to be where he needs to be. He's
able to adapt on the fly because he understands what
the offenses is. He understands the timing of a play,
(23:33):
so it allows him to adapt with an offense and
add value. Look, he's has dropped a couple passes this year,
but let's not add like he's not one of the
most short handed receivers that we've seen in the past
fifteen or twenty years, so like that still is him.
That's who he is. He's a guy that's accountable. He's
a guy that you can depend on him in the
big players. Man, he's a playmaker and also too, I
think the biggest thing that they'll miss in him. You know,
(23:55):
people talk about the route running and all the other
things too, because he is a damn good route runner.
He can get open against the league's best and whoever
you put against him. But it's that energy that he
plays well. Like I'm like Saint Brown plays with the
type of energy that is infectious. When he's making plays
and he's doing his dances and he's doing all these
things and getting guys involved and making plays big third down,
(24:16):
that energy is infectious and it's spreads throughout the offense.
That identity has become, you know, the offense over the years,
Like he's the leader on offense as relates to a
player Jared Goff, youah, no disrespect to him. He's the quarterback,
He's the QB. Pine Soul is probably the best player
on offense, if you will. But I'm a ros Saint
Brown is the straw that stirs that offensive drink. So
(24:37):
I think when you miss him, you miss a sense
of who you are, You miss a sense of your confidence. Yeah,
like the confidence level, the swag that he plays with,
that he means and you can feel it through the TV.
I know you'll be there. You'll see me get a
chance to No, I think you're one hundred percent right.
We talk about leader hanging that energy. Yeah, And we
talk about.
Speaker 2 (24:52):
How a team is identified and you know you and
rightfully so you've said it's really this team's identity has
been the trenches, But he really is is one of
those guys who who this team is identified by.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Don't you think the two guys that they identify the
most with aren't doing anything right now? One's hurt and
the other's got in phase out. The other guy's Dave
Montgomer like Dave Montgomery in terms of when he's scoring touchdowns,
when he's getting those tough yards, when he's getting the
you know, he doesn't have to have one hundred and
forty yards game, but when he's getting those tough yards,
when he's getting those forty three yards or the big
catch where it's third and four, he comes out of
(25:24):
the backfield, he leaks late, catch a pass, get a
first down. That energy. Those two, more than anybody else
on the offense, are the energy bringers to the Detroit Lions,
and you miss it this year. You notice the energy
in Dave Montgomery is the same because he's not on
the field, he's not making those plays. Last year he
scored ten plus touchdowns. A year before that, he scored
ten plus touchdowns, and that energy was real and those
(25:45):
physical touchdowns, those physical plays and big moments.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
So let's let's say I'm on Ross Saint Brown doesn't play. Yeah,
you've got from your wide receivers, you got Jamison Williams,
You've got Isaac Taslan, you've got Tom Kennedy. How much
would you if you were in charge of this offense,
put Jamiir Gibbs out there sometimes in the slot and
(26:08):
io back with David Montgomery. Now, this is not a
unique situation. What I'm bringing up. I'm not looking for
you to go, hey, that's a great idea. This is
something that was talked about before the season began, and
I don't think we've noticed it very much at all.
What do you think that would do for Detroit's offense?
What do you think it would do to Detroit, to
Dallas's defense, and how likely are do you think that
(26:29):
they use it?
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Detroit's desperate team right now? And I know people don't
want to hear that word, Like today is not going
to be a negative Detroit day. Today, It's going to
be just some conversations and things I think that they
can do to help themselves. So if I use the
word desperate, don't take offense to it. This is a
desperate team. And what I mean by that is you
can't win. You can't lose a game right now. Once
you put yourself into a situation show where you can't
(26:50):
lose a game, you're a desperate team. In those times
is when you got to reinvent yourself. Things that you
were supposed to do, things that you were talking about
you could do better. When's the better time, Like you
talk about how you're waiting for if you don't do it,
Having Demo in the backfield, having Jamiir Gibbs in the slots,
one of those situations where people would think pass because
that's what they're doing. But that's where you got to
(27:11):
switch it up. That's where you run a little bit
with Dave Montgomery that's when you do pass a little bit.
But you got to try all the things the Isaac Tesla,
the players that we've talked about there, try the things
that you have. I don't mind that at all, and
I think it's actually a good plan. There are some
things that you gotta do different today, tonight, tonight.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
I think that's from everybody, I really do. I mean,
Dan Campbell's got to start coaching differently. We've talked about
this before. Making an adjustment in anything you may do, Okay,
whether it be a sports star, show host, a basketball player,
a football player set out. If things are not working
for you, then are you going to be stubborn and
keep doing it the same way even though it's going
(27:50):
to continue to not work, Which is the definition kind
of of being crazy, you know what, Expecting a different
result of doing the same thing over and over again,
or are you going to adjust? Doesn't mean that has
to be a huge adjustment. Are you going to adjust?
Dallas comes in on a three game role. I spoke
with a Dallas television personality earlier today and I asked
(28:10):
him what's been the difference between the Cowboys earlier this
year and the three game winning streak.
Speaker 3 (28:17):
He said the defense.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
He said, the defense, the defensive unit, since they brought
on Wilson, since they brought on Williams, since they've gotten
guys back from an injury. And I thought that was
really interesting because, as I told him, I think Dallas
has identified bralin by its offense. I think the Lions
are identified by their offense too. What do you think
has been the difference for Dallas over this three game
(28:42):
winning streak?
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Man, Once again, I wrote some stuff down too. Yeah,
he had me doing some homework today. Man, I had
to dive in a little bit. But watching Dallas huge
risk obviously on the Jerry Jones side, hughes risk as
a related to bringing guys in, getting rid of guys,
bring in some draft picks. Some trades also bring in
some players, Quinn Williams, Kenny Clark was into Michael Parsons trade,
(29:06):
George Pickson, Logan Wilson. So these have been really good
for him and they've just gotten back to a sense
of when they've had success, this is what it was.
On the offensive side of the ball. They've had wide
receivers that can make plays, tight ends, and you've had
a running back. But it's the offensive line that's gotten
better that they drafted on the interior to be exact,
left guard, center, right guard. These are all draft picks
(29:27):
within the last three years, first round, two of them
in the second round, and so it's played out well
for them and this year this season, particularly in the
last three games. Now all that is healthy, the exception
their left tackle, both sides of the ball, and they're
playing complimentary football. Dak Prescott is playing elite at an
elite level. Offensive He's had time, he's had protection, he's
got a running game, he's got some receivers, and you
(29:48):
also have a coach in Schottenheimer that's understanding what they're
doing on that side. And then defensively, that interior has
been mean, like Quinn Williams and Kenny Clark as they
start to get rolling. Williams was another big move. And
then you get guys like over shown back, like some
of those defensive players that you didn't necessarily think about
coming into the season. He tours acl last year. Since
he's been back, he's been a monster. He's all over.
(30:11):
He's a side to side type of linebacker. You know.
So they got guys and all the players right now,
man and they also have something that they're playing for.
Like as bad as that season was, the NFC East
and much of the NFL is a lot of parody.
The NFC East is wide open still because the Eagles
refused to close the door. So when you have a
team that's playing well offense, team is playing well on
(30:32):
the defense, the coach is getting you right on both
sides of the ball. And then, oh, by the way,
you guys are still in the hunt. Yeah, still in
the fight. That's why the Dallas Cowboys have been playing
so well.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
I would also argue this, and this should scare Lions
fans a little bit. Look, I know Stick was on
earlier today and he was livid he's starting.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
Well.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah, I hope he means it. I hope it's not
just for social media. I hope he truly means it.
He's upset because you know, he thinks the Lions have
abandoned things. And I couldn't disagree more. This fan base
has been really loyal to this team for a long time.
If they question why their team can't make the playoffs
at seven and five, they have every right to do that,
(31:12):
every right because it's because of what we've seen recently.
But I want to remind people this, as good as
Dallas has played, and they've played really well, this game,
as much as it means to the lines, it means
as much to Dallas. And here's why. The rest of
the way. While Detroit has to play teams like the Rams,
the Bears on the road, Minnesota whose defense is good
(31:33):
and has already fooled them once, Dallas has the thirtieth
easiest schedule. The rest of the way, here's.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Who they have.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
They have the Vikings at home, they have the Chargers
at home. They're at Washington and at New York as
in Giants, so.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
They nothing is easy.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
You've educated us on that for a long time and
you will continue to do that. Nothing is easy, and
the NA should Football League. But if you're looking at
it from a schedule standpoint, it is more favorable for
Dallas than it is the Detroit Lions. That makes this
game vital for Detroit, absolutely crucial for the Lions. What
(32:16):
will be their biggest challenge tonight.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
The biggest sounds for them is it's two photos on
both sides of the ball. One on the defensive side
of the ball is can you get them into second
and long. Can you get them into second and eight?
Can you Can you win first down? Let's just start it.
Can you win first down? Like on defensive, Lions need
to win first down the.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Majority of the game. Put them behind the sticks.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
Get off the schedule. That's what the defense needs to do.
All the other stuff and the coverages and the man
and go on his own and figuring out we can
get into all that later. Simply put you gotta win
on first down and I win on first down on
the opposite side of the ball for the Lions, I
think it's the same thing. On offense. You gotta you
gotta excuse me. You have to establish something so that
(33:02):
you can sustain drives. You got to keep yourself on
the field.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
Because of what you said before. How many times you
reminded us. Last year, this team on third down conversions
was at about forty six percent. They're at about thirty
six percent this year. That's a huge steep drop.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
Biggest thing you can do for offense. That like the
Dallas Cowboys that are on fire right now, like, you
keep them off the field. Easier said than done, but
you keep them off the field, you keep them out
of rhythm. Damn you stole my spot. You keep them
off the field, you keep them out of rhythm, You
keep them in the space where they're cold. You keep
them in a place where they can't get anything going. Now,
every time they come back out there on the field
like it's legitimately not like in rhythm. It's not like, hey,
(33:40):
let's go back and there and do with that. You're
still trying to find a rhythm. You're trying to find
what the offense is going to be. That's what the
Lion's got to do on offense. Sustain some drives. It's
not about getting down there and scoring every time. But
can you make three first downs? Can you play the
field go? Can you play the time of possession? Old
school football? Can you limit the three up? Because Brian,
I mean Brian Schottenheimer is an old school football coach,
(34:02):
realisty because where he comes from, he comes from his father,
time of possession, line of scrimmage, and sustaining drives. That's
what's going to be the key for the offense. You
get a couple first downs, you start to feel better,
You start to feel a little bit moremental. Guys tend
to play a little bit better. You know what he
we move the ball a little bit. Oh, I feel confident.
You know what, I can block Quinn Williams for a
player too, and I can figure this out. I can
(34:23):
get a nice chip in there on Kenny Clark. So
I think that's what it's got to be. Get some
first downs, get the first first down, and sustainability.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
A lot of people in the chat run the damn ball.
Speaker 3 (34:35):
In order, which is great. In order to do that,
I thought that would catch out. I like that. In
order to do that, let's figure out some of the
ways in which we used to run the ball have success.
And guess who that involved? And involved number five Dave Montgomery.
I don't know what the overall issue or what the
overall deal is, but whatever the plan was for that,
it hasn't worked enough to where you can continue to
stay away from that. So this game I would like
(34:58):
to see Dave Montgomer I like to see mixed up
with Jamia with Jamiir Gibbs and jama Dam Gibbs and Demo.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Dallas allows one hundred and twenty five yards per game
on the ground.
Speaker 3 (35:08):
I saw, I saw what Recod Dadel did to them.
I saw what the Arizona Cardinals were able to do
with no running well with with a third string running back,
if you will. So there is space there. They're not
world beaters, but they're playing really good team complimentary ball.
You get a moscow on one side of the ball,
(35:29):
makes a little bit tough for that.
Speaker 2 (35:30):
I got kind of a strange question for you, guys,
and I'm interested to.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Hear your thoughts. I have been very.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Critical of Jerry Jones because of his self importance. Where's
the camera, I'm right over here, everybody right, that kind
of stuff. If they come back and reach the postseason,
maybe even win the division because they're not that far away. Yeah,
(35:57):
with his moves, even though I was very critical of
this move of MICHAELH. Parsons and how he handled it
more than anything, which I thought was a joke, right, and.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
The national narrative was what nobody's gonna want to go there.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Because Jerry Jones and always doesn't. The Quinn Williams getting
Kenny Clark trading for George Pickens, helping this team get
to where it is, securing some draft picks.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Is is he in.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
The running for General manager of the year.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
I know that sounds stupid, sounds crazy.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
I can't believe I said it out loud, especially after
the stuff I've said about him, But the way this
team has responded, I don't know how you ignore it.
Speaker 3 (36:36):
No, it doesn't sound stupid. Actually, it sounds like someone
that knows the game, someone's watching what I'm seeing the
same myself. Yes, he should be in that running if
it plays out this way, and don't let them finish
like you said on the run where they close out,
which would be eight in a row when it's all
said and done. Back in the day, when Jerry was
having success with the Dallas Cowboys, huge swings, huge risk,
hughes before and it paid off, and it paid off
(36:58):
until it didn't. I think some were along the way.
Jerry watched that documentary on Netflix. He said, the hell
because Pam Bryant, Well, I'm gonna say, Sean, but trying
to figure it out, waiting until the last second to
pay guys every single year, which actually, by the way,
is working for him. Like something has to change. I
can't rest on my laurels. I gotta do something. I
(37:20):
gotta shake it up. I don't like this guy, Mike anyway,
Let's start getting this ball rolling. But Hugh Swings huge rewards.
And one thing you said, you said they can't get
guys to come to Dallas. He didn't have to worry
about getting guys when you trade for him, because they're there.
And now, when you're winning and people are kind of seeing,
you know, whether it's a Quinn Williams, whether it's George Pickens,
whether it's Logan Wilson, you're like, oh, now I see
(37:41):
what Dallas can be. This is what it is when
you're winning. So and it's a different head coach like
and I say, look, you know, our past is our
past with the New York Jets. But what he's brought
to this team in the mix with the players that
he's gotten, it's some it's some decent chills. We'll see
if it continues.
Speaker 6 (38:03):
Yeah, I was gonna say Random Small's I guy, Randall Small,
shout out, send him two super chats here.
Speaker 4 (38:08):
I'm gonna combin them.
Speaker 6 (38:09):
He says, Bray shouldn't Allions one is two dollars, one's
five dollars. Bray, shouldn't the Lions use their speed more?
Could you see the Lions open up with both running
backs in the backfield and motion them into the wide
receiver's spot.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
All that sounds good. Can you protect? Yeah, you know
what is the past protection in the situation? So, yeah,
that sounds amazing. There are things the Lions still can do.
There are players that they still have, There are things
they can expose about the Dallas Cowboys. But it depends
on what that offensive line is gonna look like. How
are they gonna pass, protect, what chips? What things are
they're gonna use. Remember early on the year they struggled
(38:44):
against the Green Bay Packers, and they came back against
the Bears and against the Browns and against the Bengals,
and you saw some of that here. Let's help Tate
Rautleers in these situations, you know, let's help Christian Mahogany
over there, Glassgow. Make sure you get your chipping in,
you get out, et cetera, et cetera. So what does
the offensive line look like? What adjustments have they made?
Because they're banged up. That offensive line is banged up.
(39:06):
I will seek as banged up if you will. You know,
they're waiting to see what he's going to do. So
what the plan is for Hank Frayley? He needs to
be a good one. But it all depends all the offense,
all the games, all the schemes, all the running emotion,
all the getting Jamo down the field. You talk about
the play against the Eagles, where yeah, I want to
see more plays like that where they scored with Jamo.
(39:27):
That pass protection was very good on that play. Jared
Goff made the Ryan Reeves on that play. Those players
are in there, and that was against a really good
defensive line. So where are you dialing into these consistently?
How are you getting to these players?
Speaker 2 (39:40):
Can I see this too?
Speaker 3 (39:41):
I think?
Speaker 2 (39:43):
You know, I don't want to get too far down
the road where we're talking about a general manager and
a coach. Somebody stopped me earlier today and said, you know,
if they don't make it, do you fire either one?
And I thought, come on, man, I mean, let's be careful.
Speaker 3 (39:56):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
However, however, emotionally you do have to think of and
observe even closer than we already do, which is pretty
tight on what will they do to make this team
better and to adjust? I am anxious to see how
this team adjusts. How are they going to create more pressure?
(40:19):
Have they done anything other than well, you know what,
We're just gonna pin our ears back and see if
we can get there. One of the more fascinating conversations
I had with this person, it was in downtown Detroit
at a market downtown, and they said, you know, why
do they always play man? Why don't they play more zone?
Wouldn't that help them with the people who are.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
R Russian? The quarterback?
Speaker 2 (40:46):
And I said, exactly what Braylin said. And we'll get
to that when we come back. Okay, so stay with us.
Marvin Jones Junior, the former is going to join us
in the three o'clock hour. Let me tell you about
Sharon's heating and air conditioning, can I And then we'll
talk about Smoothie King, because oh my god, Smoothie King.
Speaker 3 (41:06):
Could you go for a smoothie right now?
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Could you go for an Usai Evil right now?
Speaker 6 (41:09):
I feel like, you know, that's probably the most flavorful
way to stay healthy.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
Yeah, I think that tell us a little bit.
Speaker 4 (41:15):
Better than Brocolay.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Slightly in Brocoli, I don't.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
But either way, you know what you know what requires
in order if you do that, you want to stay warm,
right you want to be nice and toasty. There's nothing
better than coming home at the end of a lone
day of work and kind of curling up in your
family room with a fire, knowing that you're going to
be nice and warm and nice and secure. Right well,
Sharon's Heating and air Conditioning does that better than anybody

Speaker 2 (47:59):
We all right, we're coming back here. We get to
some more super chats. We want to get to Braylan's
top ten. We do that on a weekly basis. Marvin
Jones Junior, the former Lyons wide receiver form of Bengals
wide receiver former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver, will be in
the studio join us at around three fifteen or so.
So really excited for that to be maybe a little
(48:20):
bit sooner. Truly one of the better guys you'll meet.
I mean, just just an absolute great dude, Absolutely great guy.
Had the privilege of covering him for a long long
time while he was here in Detroit. Very productive too
in playing that position. So before we get to Brilin's
top ten, let's get to another super chat, shall we.
Speaker 4 (48:37):
Oh, yeah, definitely.
Speaker 6 (48:38):
And it's from our guy Michael Wherry in the chat
since it a five dollars super chat says, since our
old line is struggling, how about using misdirection to keep
them off balance.
Speaker 4 (48:48):
You won't need a lot of blocking.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
You just didn't need blocking. But that is a good
point though. You know, the misdirection could help them out
a lot, keep the guys off because you know, you're
always trying to find where's the ball?
Speaker 5 (48:57):
Where's the ball?
Speaker 3 (48:58):
And then that little brief moment that you look for
the ball, the ball is not. There's nowhere near where
you think it is. So mis direction could be a
good one. Misdirection can be a good one. But once again,
you gotta start. You gotta start somewhere. And I think
just the just the intention, because the offensive line is
gonna be what it is, But just what's the intention?
What's the attitude? You remember that Vikings game, Remember what
we talked about they got to embarrassed up front. I
(49:19):
think they this is a similar game for them. It
doesn't matter if it's Quinn Williams and Kenny Clark like,
you still got to show that you belong in this league.
Their NFL offensive lineman and they're they're gonna play with
a type of fire behind them. I'm seeing Hank Freiley
have some rough days. I was with the Cleveland Browns,
but I saw what that energy was that we can practice.
I saw what that energy was that following Sunday or
the next time that we got out there on the
(49:40):
heart on the grid iron. So they will be much
more physical. You know, expect, especially the first half, expect
this line's offensive line to play well. And I think
for them, the focus is gonna be on your tier,
like that's where they're great at. It's not outside rush.
It's not Michael Parsons, it's not Gerard Versus, it's not
outside guys. Guys are average at best. So that's where
(50:02):
they can focus the energy. And I think that can
help them. If Jared Goff can get outside a little bit.
I'm not saying take off and run. I'm talking about
just get outside of the pocket with the shoulders. Move
the shoulders, move the pocket a little bit. Stuff that
I saw him do as a Detroit Lion, things that
I saw him do as a Los Angeles Ram. Move
out of the pocket a little bit. Hit some of
these passes.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
I'd love to them for them to get an early lead.
They seem like they have been swimming upstream on a
pretty regular basis, even against the Giants when they won.
Speaker 3 (50:30):
Trailing the entire game.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Can take its toll one yet a little bit, and
I think that team that's exactly what's happened to them
as a plate. So thanks for the super chats anymore
before we move on into the top ten for betteriness.
Speaker 6 (50:43):
I'm so much support and so much love for DeMont
right now.
Speaker 8 (50:47):
Man.
Speaker 5 (50:48):
That's that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (50:49):
I just wanted to add I do believe that when
we talk about this team's identity and all the players
that they're losing, I think right now, when you're searching
to find some type of consistency, I do. I think
that's a great point by brother. Go with something that's
been consistent for you to pass. And it also coincides
with what you say you are gritty and tough and
in the trenches you say you want to win that war.
(51:10):
David Montgomery, I'm hoping that he's a guy that they
can really get going because it has been inconsistent all season.
Speaker 3 (51:16):
The difference too with Demo as well as Jamiir Gibbs. Look,
Jami Gibbs can hit the home run. Demo can hit
the home run. You know you've seen him have long run,
but Jamerican hit it. Jamiir's ability to score from wherever
he is on the football field where it's seventy seven.
Had to get back on that. But like so sometimes,
especially now when the Lions are struggling, Jamiir is looking
(51:38):
to hit a home run every time because he has
to hit a home run every time, is how he feels.
So a lot of times when it may be four
yards their ship, Do I want four? Am I trying
to find fifty? Do I want three and just move forward?
Or am I trying to find you know, sixty yards?
The Montgomery's not looking for the sixty one? Am I
going to run some people over a little bit? And
that's and that's what dem like. He's like, if Demo
(52:01):
scores a seven yard touchdown, it's because it was a
seven yard touchdown. He didn't look for it. It happened. Yeah,
He's looking for where's the whole boom? Where can I
apply some pressure boom? Where can I run physical boom?
And where can I filew the guy boom? And I
think that's what they haven't had, is that physical just
running there, I'm getting three four yards. You give me
three four yards on first down? I take that. Hell yeah,
(52:23):
four and a half.
Speaker 12 (52:23):
We go.
Speaker 3 (52:24):
Now we're in second and seven, second and six better.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
I'm just a lot better than being behind the chains
and constantly going looking at third dollar or second ten.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
Yeah it's second and ten. But it's like, oh man,
I just missed that hole by that much. Yeah, this
isn't one of those games where I missed the whole
by that much. This this is a game. I want
as much as many yards as I can get in
this game, in the physicality, to.
Speaker 2 (52:48):
Be fired up for it for sure, and fired up
that Marvin Jones Junior is coming in and going to
join us here.
Speaker 3 (52:52):
Shortly.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
With that said, let's get to your top ten for
the week. This change who was on a regular basis,
because different team is impressed at different times.
Speaker 3 (53:01):
Right, So what do we got.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
Let's take a look at this and it's it's a
really cool graphic actually taken aggress and why.
Speaker 6 (53:09):
And we got the individuals too.
Speaker 2 (53:12):
It's individual Okay, well so much.
Speaker 4 (53:17):
I didn't I don't the fans't see it.
Speaker 2 (53:19):
Okay, aren't seen it yet, A.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
Well done thank you? Number ten? Uh ten is Philadelphia Eagles,
still eight wins on the season, eight and four. They
haven't been very good last month, but they still are
eight and four. They still leave their division, they still
control their that's in their defense. You know, the defense
is waiting for their offense to give them something. You know,
if that happens, Eagles can be a much better version
(53:43):
of what they are. But right now they are not.
So their number ten and they are. They've lost too
in a row.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
They're still, believe it or not, seven and three in
the conference, so that eventually comes down to some type
of tiebreaker that could be all right, number nine.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
And they're gonna be. They're gonna be a lot of
people at seven to three in the conference. Nober nine
is the Texans. All right, I snuffed the Texans in here.
Texans same record as the line seven and five, But
it seems like they're playing. First of all, you can
see just strout in surprise. Who you know what I mean?
Something of us you got? But no, they had a
good win last week. There's two weeks good win last week,
(54:19):
there's seven and five, and then it's a division where
you start to look at what's going on with the Coats.
Coats haven't necessarily looked like themselves. You got some injuries
to Daniel Jones. I like that defense. You love that defense.
The defensive played lights out all season long, and now
you got to set it appears to be healthy. So
I got the number that.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
Their offensive line has been a lot better, that's for sure,
right number six, number eight or number eight? I'm sorry,
there we go.
Speaker 3 (54:42):
Number eight. Well, he's got an eight in his number.
What's what's what's what's what's the problem.
Speaker 2 (54:50):
I'll tell you in a minute.
Speaker 3 (54:51):
Go ahead, what's the problem? The number one seed in
the NFC right now? Is that number eight?
Speaker 2 (55:00):
Okay, I'm interested here.
Speaker 5 (55:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (55:02):
At the end of the day, they've played some really
good ball. They beat some okay teams. Look, I appreciate
what Ben Johnson is doing. He's really got this team buying.
Then defense has been much better, offensive line and the
run game have been really, really, really good. I just
I just don't completely believe in the Bears. When I'm
constructing my list, my list is based on what I
(55:22):
believe you're going to do down the line, too, And
it's a mixture of that. So I could have acted hyperbolic,
and maybe I should have my apologies, but I'm not
rewarding them more so for what they're doing on warning
them for what I see.
Speaker 2 (55:36):
That's well said. You don't have to apologize for anything.
I mean, your ayes tell most people about football better
than anybody else's. But that's a team that's won five
in a row. I don't like them period, all right.
I'm not going to try and stick up from they've
won five in a row. They're really good in the conference.
Their defense is really good. Their offense is a little
shaky times, but their offensive line is really good.
Speaker 3 (55:57):
And you've said that about them.
Speaker 2 (55:59):
So it's an interesting choice at number eight considering their
record and their seating. We will get through the top
five and then, if you don't mind, will pause once
we get to number six. Pause here, Okay, you don't
mind pausing here. You want to get to seven and six.
Let's do seven and six and then we'll get Marvin
Jones Junior in here.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
As it relates to the Bears. Well, as it relates
to the Bears one, I just want to say they
have one five in row. They beat the bad Eagles
team they beat still his team that's falling apart still
somehow score twenty eight on the Chicago Bears scene. By
the way, the Vikings they beat them on the last
drive nineteen to seventeen, and then they beat the Giants
twenty to twenty four. So I'm and beat the Bengals
(56:37):
forty two to forty what forty forty seven? So when
I look at it like that, I'm like, that's a
good point, Like, congrats on the wins. It's hard to
win in this day. You're not taking it away nothing right, however,
but it's an impression.
Speaker 2 (56:49):
I like, that's it's a great explanation, all right, Dallas
is at seven, who's at Ford Field tonight?
Speaker 3 (56:54):
And meanwhile they're six to five and one. I just
like what they're doing. I think they're a click on
all Ceilers, And it's about when you come around and
right now, the momentum is everyone's healthy st the left tackle,
they're playing outstanding ball on both sides of the field,
and they're just coming together. You know. It's I've talked
about them for like a month. I bet you you have.
(57:14):
I bet you they have.
Speaker 2 (57:15):
If you had to take a poll, they've got with
their two wide receivers within the tight end. They're in
the conversation for the best trio of receiving players on
one specific team. Dak Press gotta like that on his
on his wristband, ask for help.
Speaker 3 (57:29):
That's really cool.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
Great shots, by the way, Brendan more before we bring
in Marvin Jones Junior. And we'll get to the top
five a little bit later on number six.
Speaker 3 (57:37):
Who is it? Number six? That okay? Seattle Seahawks. Seattle
Seahawks is one of those situations kind of like you're
gonna quiz me after I said the Bears, I got
them in there. Their defensive lights out, and what that
defense is Mike McDonald's team. He has that defense operating
at a ridiculous clip. Hes got some really good moves
in the off season with Dexter Lawrence as well as
(58:00):
the big fellow Leonard Williams. It's going well for them,
and then Sam Donald and Jackson Smith and Jig with them.
But the issue is that offense, and when they've played
really good defenses, Sam Donald, the offense has gotten exposed.
So there's six now, but yeah, that will change potentially.
Speaker 2 (58:16):
Their last four wins are against the Commanders, Cardinals, Titans,
and Vikings.
Speaker 3 (58:20):
Yep, and lost to the Rams.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
But you're convinced too because of the amount of points,
perhaps that they surrendered. Then we gave up twenty one
to the Rams.
Speaker 3 (58:28):
I think their defense is where I put them ahead
of the Bears. Their defense is much better than the Bears.
I don't disagree with that.
Speaker 2 (58:35):
And Jackson Smith and Jig but still unbelievable right, speaking
of wide receivers. When we come back, Marvin Jones Junior
will join us excited for the former line to fires
on the Brilin Edwards show. After this from Less Stamford

Speaker 2 (01:02:42):
If you want to know football, you want to know
a wide receiver position. But maybe more importantly, you just
want to be around good people. This is the place
to be because we've got the host Briyllen Edwards, and
of course and Marvin Jones, who led the colleague in
twenty seventeen, led the National Football League and yards per catch.
You look as good now as you did when you play.
That's a bit of a cliches that said, to breakin
(01:03:02):
a lot. It looks like you could still play. You
literally look like you could still play. Yeah, for sure, somebody,
how do you feel?
Speaker 18 (01:03:07):
It's amazing?
Speaker 19 (01:03:08):
You know, I just never stopped training because I have
the kids, you know, so you know, the kids running football.
My oldest he's he's about to go into a senior year,
you know, doing college tours. So uh, you know, they
keep me on my toes. And I have dogs too.
I have a kind of course though, so I have
to be strong, you know what I'm saying, Sid know.
Speaker 5 (01:03:26):
What do you?
Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
What do you mean? You you you literally can still play?
Like like I can't still play? You literally long time?
He can still play?
Speaker 18 (01:03:34):
Literally?
Speaker 3 (01:03:34):
Yeah, yeah, it's both. It's both. You're both literally I
can't let's do it talk about the kids and talk
about the join that you got on obviously you got two.
I want to say, uh that three three boys six
still have a six six kids. That's why boys that
are on that level. You know, now you're going through
that process, you're training with them, talk about what it
(01:03:55):
is because we went through it. But now you're on
the oither side of that, you're on the father side
of that. What's that like?
Speaker 19 (01:04:00):
Yeah, I mean it's amazing, you know. And I think
that when we were playing, when I was playing, you know,
they couldn't get they couldn't really get that full spectrum
of of training, you know, just because you know they're like, hey,
d Daddy, what should I do? I was like, okay,
do this, do this? Can you send me something? But
now that I'm here, and I'm there every day, like
I was just telling you, like me and my son,
(01:04:20):
we're getting up at five thirty, you know, before he
goes to school, before he drives to school. We're getting
up at five thirty and we're doing workouts. We're doing
he said, he wants to do two a days. He
just finished the season, had a crazy season over there
in La Joya, and he said, Daddy, let's do to todays.
So I'm like, Okay, five thirty. I'm not gonna get
you up. You better have your your as in the gym.
Speaker 5 (01:04:42):
In the gym.
Speaker 19 (01:04:43):
We have a home gym, and so we do that
and then when he comes home we do it again.
So we're upper body, lower body and just having that
time with them, you know at that time that that normally.
Speaker 18 (01:04:54):
You know, we wouldn't have. It feels amazing.
Speaker 5 (01:04:56):
Man.
Speaker 19 (01:04:56):
There's there's there's nothing better than that. So I'm just
enjoying myself.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
That's smile. Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 2 (01:05:02):
I was so fortunate to cover you for the six
years you're here in Detroit. But the thing that I
always noticed about you, more than just your talent on
the football field, is how you were so engaging with
people who were fans of the Lions and fans of
you and your commitment to the community. What else you
teaching your kids about the game of sports or the
game of football and sports in general that allows them
to give back.
Speaker 18 (01:05:23):
Yeah, that's a good question.
Speaker 19 (01:05:24):
Like I think they lived it, you know, just me
being here actually being in Cincinnati, me going to the
Friday night lights and all the games, like going on.
Speaker 18 (01:05:32):
Twitter and like, hey, which game should we pull up?
Speaker 19 (01:05:35):
You know, So I think I've always been engaged in
the community in that manner. And obviously, you know, I
have my wife here and down the street. We had
nothing bunk cakes that we had for about three or
four years, so it was all it was always our
goal to be in the community and show the fans
that you know, that we're here and not just on
the field, and take off the helmet and really engage
(01:05:55):
with them. And you know, this is my first time
coming back since I've left, and I'll be right there
in the stands, you know, with the fans, so you know,
hopeing they still remember me.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
They remember the big playmaker. You made big plays and
like that yards per catching something that was here we
are stound to do and you did it well. I
was gonna ask her a question and give her microphone,
like was it hard dealing with him when he retired
some things? A lot of my friends, Why is that retired?
Speaker 4 (01:06:23):
Why?
Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
Oh my god, too much? Give you my don't you
know it? Something? What was that?
Speaker 12 (01:06:29):
Like?
Speaker 3 (01:06:30):
I would say, no, I'm happy that I put all
the weight on him, Like, hey, can you take the
kids to school?
Speaker 2 (01:06:37):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:06:37):
Like I give everything to him, Now it's your turn.
Speaker 18 (01:06:40):
I kind of brushed my hands and hand it off
to him.
Speaker 4 (01:06:42):
So respect, that's really cool.
Speaker 19 (01:06:45):
Yeah, I have nothing to do, and I do take
the kids, you know, I take the kids to school,
get up, take the kids after the workout, pick them up,
you know, whatever whatever needs to be done.
Speaker 18 (01:06:56):
That's pretty much what I do.
Speaker 3 (01:06:57):
That never gets old.
Speaker 2 (01:06:58):
And that should be the amount of training that it
took you for you to be able to be involved
in their lives like that.
Speaker 3 (01:07:04):
That's probably pretty important.
Speaker 19 (01:07:05):
Yes, And I mean obviously, you know when you have
that idle time, it's like, shoot, I need to do something,
let's get out.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
But we do.
Speaker 19 (01:07:12):
We have a lot of help at home, uh with
with mother in laws, cousins, you know, stuff like that.
So me and dad, we've been traveling. We've definitely been
traveling a lot. And yeah, for sure, you know, our
kids are grown, so you know, Marvin could take everybody
to you know, where they need to be and stuff
like that. So when I get the itch, I'm like,
(01:07:33):
let's go, we need to go somewhere there.
Speaker 3 (01:07:36):
Speaking of you know, I guess there's no easy transition.
Let's wish the game tonight. I know you'll be in
a tennis talk about this. Lions team not necessarily achieving
what people thought they would do. But where are you
with this team currently? Some injuries, some things the whole night.
What would you assess the Detroit Lions currently seventy five,
third in their division.
Speaker 19 (01:07:56):
Well, I think I think this is a This is
it's tricky, but it's also it's also beautiful in the
sense that hey, there's there's uh, you know, stuff has happened,
uh you know been there's there's injuries, and you know
that happens in the league and stuff like that. But
now the challenge is right now is like the will,
Like who has the will? That next man who's coming up?
(01:08:16):
Who knows the magnitude of this right smacking it? Not
not the middle, We're not in the middle. We're in December,
and normally in December that you're when you're supposed to
be playing your your best football, and you know it's
it's it's gonna be it's gonna be tough. But I think,
you know, I just I love the lines, man, I
love watching the play. I love watching them play the
kind of play. The playmakers that we have. You know,
(01:08:38):
I think we have the playmakers. I think we have
the coaching and the attitude to get through what we
need to get through, you know what I'm saying. So
it's tough, and there's gonna be there's gonna be your
bumps in the road just later on in the season
like this. But it's like you gotta get everybody back,
you gotta looks different.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
What do you notice is the biggest difference from last
year to this year?
Speaker 19 (01:09:01):
Well, I think I think in terms of I'm not
gonna say, like the creative side. Everybody everybody knows how
Ben Johnson is. You know Ben Johnson, you know he
he's a good friend of mine.
Speaker 18 (01:09:12):
And this this.
Speaker 19 (01:09:13):
Dude will wake up and be like, oh I got
to play you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:09:17):
Yeah, you know, So.
Speaker 19 (01:09:19):
I think I think it's more of a traditional aspect
in play calling. But my thing is, my thing is
when you have the players that we have, that that
Detroit has, you're really it's it's it's about the players.
You know, like you could you could draw up anything,
but it's like who's gonna make it work? And we
have a lot of people that make that can actually
that can make it work, you know, but it's just,
(01:09:40):
you know, it's just it's just a it's just a
hard time right now with the injuries and and yeah,
but it's it's just I have nothing bad to say
about none of the play calling. I mean, they're put
they're putting up crazy points and it just it has
to be consistent.
Speaker 3 (01:09:54):
Will make you say anything bad about this play call?
You know, looking at the Lions, you talk about those players,
he definitely has a really good player. Eleven of the
Lions players are ranging in the top ten at their position,
one of those players being Jamis and Williams. As a
fellow wie res he what do you see when you
watch Jamo? What do you see as a wide out?
And what do you see in terms of some of
the mishaps Jamo might have here there?
Speaker 19 (01:10:13):
So like I I I'm a big fan of Jamo,
you know, and I obviously I was here when when
Jamo was going on his going on the second year,
you know, I believe and just to see that growth,
you know, and uh like when I was in, I
seen the potential and I tried to do when I
was there everything, you know, give him everything to for
(01:10:35):
him to you know, to make that school transition, to
eliminate gray area and stuff like that, and I think
he did it very well. Obviously, he's he's a he's
a like he's a playmaker, like the dudes, the dudes fast. Yeah,
he's he just he's he's still young, you know, and
you know, he gets there's there's there's some miss mishaps
and stuff like that, but just getting the ball in
(01:10:55):
his hand is is is utmost importance.
Speaker 18 (01:10:59):
You know.
Speaker 19 (01:10:59):
So I think, I mean, I think he's he's got
a long career ahead of him, and he's just going
to continue to mature and continue to make those plays.
Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
While you were here, you caught passes from Matthew Stafford,
who at age thirty seven, might be having his finest
year of his career in Los Angeles. In the MVP conversation,
what has surprised you maybe this year about how good
he has been even though he had a back injury
during training camp.
Speaker 19 (01:11:23):
Yeah, I don't think. I don't think anything surprised me
about about nine. You know, it just he's been the
same guy.
Speaker 3 (01:11:29):
That's the right nine. But yeah, yeah, right now, go ahead.
Speaker 19 (01:11:34):
Yeah, yeah, it's about staff Yeah, I don't think I've
ever caught him staff before.
Speaker 18 (01:11:37):
I've always caught him nine.
Speaker 19 (01:11:38):
So really, Okay, but yeah, but Stafford, nothing surprised me
with him. He's obviously so ingrained into that system with
Sean McVay. That's it's crazy, like the dude. The dude
could throw passes with his eyes closed.
Speaker 18 (01:11:51):
At this point. Yeah, I've seen it, trust me.
Speaker 19 (01:11:55):
But I think the relationship between him and Sean McVay
is one for the b I think they're so in
tuned in terms of their preparation and they know what
they need to get done. And I think that's why
it looks so easy for him right now at age
thirty seven. You know, he you know, he's he's.
Speaker 18 (01:12:12):
Had the back.
Speaker 19 (01:12:13):
He's had that back here too, you know. But I
think that sunshine is is different. It's a little different
out there. You know that code are not hitting his back.
Speaker 3 (01:12:21):
But yeah, piggyback on that question and asking the kool
a has a super chat and when read somebody showing
some love and then chat Messtafford, you played with him
here and you saw what he was. You saw the
talent every day in Alan Park. You knew he was
like that. You knew he was was cold like that.
But it doesn't seem like you know, the national media
has seen him until he got to LA until too,
(01:12:42):
and now they look at him totally different. Is he
the same quarterback to you as he was here in
Alan Park as he is now with Sean That just
different offensive coordinator?
Speaker 18 (01:12:51):
Yeah, I think.
Speaker 19 (01:12:52):
I think in terms of his stuff, I mean, obviously
the arm talent, the way he goes about, you know,
his preparation, the just with what he what he does
on the field, I think he is the same. But
that's the thing is, like you we don't in Detroit.
You don't get as much media as you get, you know,
and that with the hype training like the you know,
the Dallas is, the l A, the New York, the Chicago, Philly,
(01:13:16):
you know, those are those are big, those are big brands,
you know. And I think that's that's why I love
Detroit so much because I was kind of like that,
you know, throughout my throughout my career. It's like you
put up the big numbers and you do all the
flashy plays, but you know, I'm in Cincinnati, I mean Detroit, Jacksonville,
you know, yes, even at cal So, I guess I
(01:13:38):
would just you know, I was always the blue that
that that hard worker, you know.
Speaker 18 (01:13:42):
What I'm saying.
Speaker 19 (01:13:43):
And I didn't need I didn't need affirmation, you know,
to go out and do whatever I needed to do.
So if I would have made the same plays in
the New York or or a Dallas or whatever, now
you're now you're talking about different the reach is different.
But that's something I never cared about, and that's something
Staff never cared about because he cared about the city
(01:14:03):
so much, you know what I'm saying. It's like, obviously
he could have moved and went other places and stuff
like that, but there's a different there's a different energy
in Detroit that if you're that type, if you're a
Detroit type guy, then that's that's who you're rocking with,
you know. So I think it's a it's a it's
an adjustment. And obviously the media, you know, the place,
(01:14:23):
the location, and and quite frankly, him and Sean McVay
just they're they're they're they're they're killing they're doing there.
It's historic, you know, how how them two work together.
So I think it's it's that is definitely that as
well just being more in tune, no gray area, like
you know what I want and I know what you want,
and this is what we're gonna do and we're gonna
get those type of players to uh to surround now.
Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
So that's what I've always loved being from Detroit and
then playing in the NFL. Whenever I would talk to
cats Aron, the lead that weren't from Detroit played for
the Lions, they always love Detroit. Yeah about like always
was always a conversation they see me, you know, man,
way tell me your city was like this, this that's
cool cool aid hit them with that.
Speaker 6 (01:15:03):
Oh yeah, definitely, man, They're showing you some love in
the chat right now. They definitely know you in Detroit. Brother,
I ain't say that sends in the five dollars super chase.
He says, Marv, you brought me so much joy when
the Lions weren't really worth a dang. He said, great
crazy catches number eleven, Man, he appreciates.
Speaker 3 (01:15:21):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 18 (01:15:22):
I appreciate that for sure.
Speaker 5 (01:15:24):
It was.
Speaker 18 (01:15:24):
It was a great time here.
Speaker 19 (01:15:26):
You know, I had some great moments, some some great
highlight catches that'll that'll be in my memory. And I
know I'm in San Diego now, but you won't believe
how how many Detroit Lions fans and people from Detroit
out there in San Diego saying you know I was
at this game, or you know my son, it's literally crazy.
There's a Lions bar in San Diego. I might see
(01:15:47):
y'all you ever go, but yeah, it's it's it's crazy,
it's crazy. It's crazy. Everywhere I go, it's everybody from
Detroit and and it's just all big love.
Speaker 3 (01:15:57):
All big love, still still rupughing down Honolulu bluw and.
Speaker 18 (01:16:01):
Oh yeah, for sure, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (01:16:04):
Without trying to get too deep, but I always enjoyed
our conversations, especially during training camp, because I mean, you're
beyond what a lot of people are in being able
to address different topics. How did playing football help you
become a better father?
Speaker 19 (01:16:19):
Yeah, I think it's and that's that's a good, good
question because I think you know the structure.
Speaker 18 (01:16:26):
The structure.
Speaker 19 (01:16:27):
I think the structure is the big thing, you know,
just because a lot of the times when you're playing sports,
even like anywhere everywhere, it's like you're you have to
get up, you have to get up at six six am,
Like you have to get up to change the diaper.
You got to get up, and like you have to
do it. You know, if you want, if you want
things to work out, obviously, and I'm talking from football
(01:16:47):
and a baby, but it's just it's.
Speaker 18 (01:16:49):
Just growing, growing and and being a man about.
Speaker 19 (01:16:54):
Everything that goes in with fatherhood, everything that goes in
with your business, being on the schedule, and even though
sometimes I don't want to get up, you have to,
you know what I'm saying, because if you don't, you're
not gonna make it, you know. So I think just
this that transition and just finding the joy and everything
and enjoying in all processes. I think that's that's been
(01:17:17):
one of the factors for me. And obviously I've been
a dad for a long time now, but yeah, I
think that's that's been that that that that joy, you know,
that joy of waking up and and doing what doing
what you want to do, and and it's it's synonymous
for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:17:33):
Seventy seven degrees man, in light breeze and a bit easier.
Speaker 18 (01:17:38):
Easy.
Speaker 5 (01:17:39):
Yeah, that's good, sir.
Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
I love it, man, love it. You look great.
Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
I'm glad your family's doing well. It's awesome to see you.
Lions fans loved everything you did here.
Speaker 18 (01:17:48):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (01:17:48):
Did you feel like you missed an opportunity? When you
were here, did this team in general miss an opportunity
to be could have been? You know?
Speaker 19 (01:17:56):
I would I would say this, every every team has
a window, you know, And I still feel I still
genuinely feel like there's a window here, but there's also
a sense of we gotta get it done because it'll
it'll slip, you know. And I dealt with that in
Cincinnati when we had the team. Did you feel like
that here too? I feel like, definitely dealt with it here,
(01:18:20):
you know. But I think going on my last year here,
definitely I knew. I was like, yeah, this this has
this is a super this is a super Bowl team,
and it has it has to be, you know, just
because I mean it's it's football, like it's it's either
you get one year, you get one year, and then
if you have that ultimate success, which I think it's
It wasn't ultimate, but it was it was crazy success.
(01:18:42):
People are gonna leave, you know, and that's just that's
just the name of the game, you know. So once
people leave, that's when you know, that's when everything starts
to change, you know, and that's when the windows starts diminishing.
So everybody, Yeah, it can't be everybody, but I think
there's there's there's legitimately still a win though.
Speaker 18 (01:19:00):
But it's go time, you know, and it starts today.
Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
Let's do it. Yeah, from a guy who doesn't believe
in windows.
Speaker 18 (01:19:10):
Yeah, sure, thanks always, thanks very to you. You know what,
you know, what's talking. It's great always.
Speaker 2 (01:19:19):
Okay, ye always always, all the best kids, okay, N
appreciate it absolutely. He really is one of the best guys,
one of the best athletes we've had here.
Speaker 5 (01:19:27):

Speaker 5 (01:19:28):

Speaker 12 (01:19:33):

Speaker 3 (01:19:34):

Speaker 5 (01:19:36):

Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
Were you not? Just we're on TV too? You're not
an actor? That was a while ago.
Speaker 19 (01:19:42):
It was model, it was probably it was doing something,
you know, something matter. Stay away from the media right now,
but you know it's trying to reel me back in.
Speaker 18 (01:19:51):
But you know, you never know that you got.

And we bet doctor Jeffer Pierce will be joining us
here shortly. We have a very special presentation can't wait
to get to that. So we will hustle through the
final five of Braylan's top ten, get a pick before
we're out of here on Lions and Cowboys tonight in
a massive matchup on Thursday Night Football. Before we left off,
(01:26:51):
Braylan had Philadelphia at ten, right, Phildelphia, Philla. I'm sorry, yeah,
now you're right, So Philidel he was at ten. Well,
we have just left off number six with Seattle, So
who's number five?
Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
Oh, bring the list up if you will. Bow Knicks
and the Denver Bronco then still trying to figure out
bow Knicks as a quarterback, still trying to figure him
out as starting. I think it's fair to say everybody is.
They tend to struggle in the first half and they
get really strong in the second half, especially the fourth quarter.
That defense is there's no mistake in that. And now
they've gotten Patricks Tan back nine and whether they're ten.
Speaker 2 (01:27:28):
And two, they are ten and two and winners of
nine in a row.
Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
You cannot take that lightly. So I think they're a
team in one once again. When you start to get
into the playoffs, what's gonna separate these teams is defensive
it's gonna be defensive play, it's gonna be quarterback playing,
it's coaching. Well, you look at the Broncos, check to
Sean Pagne and check to the defense, and you got
a quarterback that he may be figuring it out. So five,
I think is good.
Speaker 2 (01:27:51):
For there are only two teams in the AFC that
give up fewer points than the Denver Broncos, the Rams
and the Seahawks. Impressive stuff, all right, Number four, Number four,
Oh snug Josh Allen up in there.
Speaker 4 (01:28:09):
The surprise is sneaky.
Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
You are you can be sneaky. Sneaky. I look at
Josh Allen. I look at it like this, am I
a huge fan of Buffalo Bills. What's up?
Speaker 5 (01:28:17):
Dot?
Speaker 3 (01:28:17):
No, not necessarily, but what it is is this Josh
Allen is unmistakable, the ability that he has, unmistakable, the talent.
And then it's December. You know what happens in December.
You gotta run the ball a little bit more. Who
they are running the ball with James Cook, one of
the best running backs in the league. So I think
their defense has gotten a bit better. I think you
have Josh Allen, Sean McDermott, and you have that run game.
(01:28:39):
I think that's what can carry them into December, maybe
even maybe even make it a late charge to what
the New England Patriots are gonna do.
Speaker 2 (01:28:46):
Only the Patriots and Colts score more than Josh Allen
and the Buffalo Bills in the AFC. All right, so
number three.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
Now, who would you guess is through? Well, I'm trying
to figure out if you believe in the Patriots or.
Speaker 2 (01:28:59):
The Rain at one or two and number three, well,
you can't have Jacksonville in there, That's impossible.
Speaker 3 (01:29:06):
Jacksonville jactually was not my number ten team, and I
stayed away from I'm gonna throw this out there.
Speaker 2 (01:29:11):
I could be way off base. I'm gonna say green Bay.
Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
Coming in and number I got it right, the green
Bay package. I'm not gonna I didn't want to be
hyperbolic with them because I was looking at this and
I was like, can I put them one? Could I
put Could you see the green Bay Packers being one?
I'm being funny? Why not? Out of curiosity? I don't
believe in the offense.
Speaker 2 (01:29:34):
There's a friend of mine who told me this probably
three weeks ago, that as much as he respects Michaeh
Parsons and Rashaan Gary in the defense, he's not buying
the offense.
Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
He's right, and he's absolutely right. I think one of
them times. That's why I say he's right. That's what
I didn't. I'm lying. But no, the offense, you don't
bund him consistently. Legitimately. You saw him lose to Arizona
three weeks now, is on it. But uh, the the
Carolina Panthers, who are who beat the Cowboys as well
as the Rams, I mean, as well as the Rams,
(01:30:07):
but they looked a little bit different against the Detroit
Lions looked a little bit better for them. And that
defense is just so mean and mattle. The floor is
is a guy that's been there. So three is a
good spot for them.
Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
It's a good matchup this weekend and you're kind of
looking forward to that.
Speaker 3 (01:30:22):
Because you'll see Chicago go to three, or you'll see
Green Bay go to one and then two. Two is
uh okay, well it is. I have to I have
to preface this. I think the Rams are a better team.
Speaker 5 (01:30:35):
I know you do.
Speaker 3 (01:30:35):
I do think the Rams are a better team, but
I would be disrespectful if I took away with the
new England Pagers have done. They're eleven to two, no
more record in the league, all the things they've done,
how good that defense is, and even how Drake May
is playing. So you know, we took the l down
there in Carolina, So I bump them one. I still
think they're the best team in the league. I think
it's a one off. Uh, it's still the best team
(01:30:57):
in league.
Speaker 2 (01:30:57):
And I think that's one best team in the NFC,
that's for sure. Yes, And it's not just because of him,
by the way, It's not just because of Devona Madams.
It's not just because of it's not because of their
tag team running backs, right Blake Korn. It's because of
their defense, Jared Dirst and that defense. It's been really
really good. So New England's number one, Drake May, has
(01:31:17):
made a very strong case and he's done it rather humbly.
He's done made a very strong case for MVP. Whether
he is or not doesn't really matter. The defense is
good overall, the balance on this team. They're so far
ahead of schedule.
Speaker 3 (01:31:31):
I think unfortunately for Stafford and I you know, his
year he has is electric and he is the story.
Everything is about storyline Stafford's the quarterback heft. He left
Detroit where it was horrible and they didn't give me
any help, which is the narrative, not necessarily true. They
didn't give me any help. He goes to the Rams,
he wins the Super Bowl. The only thing he needs
now is MVP. So keep an eye out on that
because I think storylines matter in politics. But if you
(01:31:52):
just want to talk about an MVP candidate, as of
right now, Drake May has rightfully put himself in first place.
He leaves the league in passing the yards with thirty
for one hundred, like he is taking care of the
football this year. Still doesn't have a three hundred yard game.
Guess what doesn't need one. He's averaging two hundred eighty yards.
Speaker 2 (01:32:07):
That's interesting. I didn't know three hund year.
Speaker 3 (01:32:09):
But he leaves the league and he's not turning the
ball right and it's consistent, and it's so it's I
want to say efforts. Nothing is effortless. But it's very rhythmic.
It's very fluid, like he's a guy that doesn't he
misses and guess what it's over to the next.
Speaker 2 (01:32:23):
Special leads the league and completion percentage.
Speaker 3 (01:32:26):
So when you look at it. And also he doesn't
have and I don't knock people for having weapons. You're
supposed to have weapons. He doesn't have Pookah, he doesn't
have Devonte Adams. He doesn't have a Kira Williams, which
I don't understand why Sean Vay won't use Kion Williams
like that behooves me. He doesn't have that. He's got guys,
you're trying to figure it out. Answer me this.
Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
Why has he been sacked forty times?
Speaker 3 (01:32:49):
Most?
Speaker 7 (01:32:49):
He?
Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
Only cam Ward and Gino.
Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
Smith have been sacked more often than Drake Main.
Speaker 3 (01:32:53):
I think a lot of mobile quarterbacks tend to get sacked.
Like they've changed the sacked policies and getting out of
the pocket a little bit, though still kind of act.
I think guys that can run mobile quarterbacks, if you will,
they tend to make more moves to try to make
something happen. A lot of times they still, you know,
they get sacked. I think a lot of times too,
when you can move and you see it happen with
Lamar he's a little hurt this year, but even when
he wasn't. They think they can wait till the longest
(01:33:16):
possible second because they have that ability to run because
they have a little quick twitch fiber in there somewhere.
So a lot of times they wait too long, all right,
they wait too late.
Speaker 2 (01:33:26):
That's a really good info. Okay, when we come back,
it's a heartwarming moment. I know it's the holidays, but
doctor Pierce is here to make somebody's year, not just during.
Speaker 3 (01:33:37):

Speaker 3 (01:39:31):

Speaker 5 (01:39:32):

you look at sharp as always.
Speaker 5 (01:39:37):
Got to support the car absolutely. We have a big
day today.
Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
Yeah, and we've got a big announcement coming up too,
because a good friend of yours is in town and
I want to talk to him because he's coming in
right now. But first let me ask you about I'm
on Rossaint Brown.
Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
What's your gut?
Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Tell you about the ankle injury and whether or not
he plays tonight against Dallas.
Speaker 5 (01:39:53):
You know, the big announcement that wasn't I predict. There
was a high ankle spran which was more concerning, which
more typically would have put him out for the game.
You're usually a regular spring. We should be able to
tape it up. Give him some secret sauce and get
him back out there. The question is now, is he
gonna be have purposeful minutes if we announced it, If
he's playing tonight, it's a game decision. So I can't
(01:40:15):
not see him not playing today, at least trying to
make a go of it, because if it is a
low ankle spring, we should be able to cast pretty
much tape him up into a casting position. But like
I said, when you do that a player like that,
he loses a lot of his dynamics. Like Braylan. You know,
he was big guy. He could push the guy out.
(01:40:36):
This guy has to shuck and drive around him. So
it's going to eliminate a lot of his mobility. So
we'll see how he does. I mean, he's a force
out there. Either way, they definitely need someone like that
out there. Is he gonna be playing every down? We'll see.
It's probably be game time. He'll probably go for game time,
is the prediction. Will he finish?
Speaker 3 (01:40:55):
I sure hope? So okay, I just didn't like the
conversation in which he talked to I remember two years ago.
Two years ago, he had a high ankle spring and
they held him out of the Seawk Seattle Seahawks game,
and when you listen to him at the podium this week,
he said that his ankle spray, whether it's high or low,
whatever it was, is way worse than that one, and
that one held him out of the game. So I
(01:41:17):
feel like, even if he does play, it goes back
to what Doc says, like there's gonna be so so
much that he's limited at Like it's gonna be one
those situations where like after a quarters, look, man, I
can't go.
Speaker 2 (01:41:26):
Yeah, I'm worried about that too. And he's such a
big playmaker. Speaking of big guys, Danny the Kaiser six',
three Former Red wings defenseman now does an outstanding. JOB
i might, ADD tv and radio really have come a long.
WAY i really enjoyed listening to. You got great, insight
he joins us here on The Berlin Edwards. Show good
to have.
Speaker 3 (01:41:42):
You, yeah thanks for having.
Speaker 5 (01:41:44):
Me, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:41:46):
While, yeah it has it's been too. Long, sorry hold.
Speaker 2 (01:41:48):
Microphone he's, fair he knows what's. Up big game Against columbus.
Tonight what's your take on The Red.
Speaker 3 (01:41:56):
Wings d so far this?
Speaker 20 (01:41:58):
SEASON i mean that's from a little bit of an
up and down, yere you, know like if you're The
wings right. Now you try to avoid those four or
five game losing streaks because those those are, killers like
we've seen in the last few, Years like those those
will put your read out the plaoff race really. Quick
AND i mean in terms of The edmondson has been you,
know he's been really good this year's. Cider those have
been there a couple of their, horses you, know and
McClellan spoken highly of those.
Speaker 3 (01:42:19):
Guys it's just you, KNOW i Think sharrot's been.
Speaker 20 (01:42:22):
Good just getting you, know good depth from those guys
every night if you, can because those are your big,
horses but the guys filling in underneath, them you, know
try to try to bring it when they.
Speaker 3 (01:42:29):
Can, Yeah ben shot scored the other, night was, there you,
KNOW i bought that good, Left, yeah l they lost
for it previous to, that BUT i. Did that was
a GO i, saw but only ONE i. Saw you
know how like the club, is it's hard to. Leave, yeah, yeah,
yeah it's hard to leave every Time i'll look, up
BUT i did see the. Bench the physicality was one
(01:42:50):
of the things THAT i Was the physicality is one
of the things THAT i was looking. At and then
we talked ABOUT i want to see that, physicality AND
i think they were a little bit more physical at
least in the first two periods uh and the second
and third PERIOD uh the other. Night what's your thoughts
on the physicality of The detroit right.
Speaker 20 (01:43:03):
Wing, WELL i think when they're when they're playing, physical
that's when they're at the top of their. Game like you,
know you get to the red, line dump the puck,
in keep it. Simple you got some big. Guys you's
got Solder blom he's like six foot. Seven you Got Arrest,
musing he's like six six. Whatever and they got some big,
boys So edvonson he's another, guy he's sixty. Six so
when they're, physical that's when they're playing their. Best and
and sometimes the scoring is gonna dry. Up from From Daprin,
(01:43:26):
kit From lark and sometimes those guys they're your big
they're your big. Guns they're gonna bring it every. Night
but you gotta try get depth scoring and keep it,
simple especially come playoff. Time if you're gonna make the,
playoffs you're gonna have to score diry, goals greasy, goals
get to the. Net not always gonna be, pretty but
you got to find a way to do.
Speaker 3 (01:43:41):
IT i like.
Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
That don't don't want to age myself too much, Here
BUT i Called Dannyda kaiser's college games At Western michigan

Connection LIKE i feel like WHEN i was At. Michigan
eastern doesn't Like, Michigan central doesn't Like, michigan and the
rest of the state doesn't Like. Michigan But western And
michigan always had. Things i've always cheered WHEN i See. Western, ye,
Listen i'm a chipplewats so NOW i know where it's.
Speaker 2 (01:44:34):
At EVEN i was, EVEN i was rooting For Western
michigan and the only snergy we had with The western
is how many beers we could. DRINK i definitely was
rooting For Western. Michigan, okay that means LIKE i come
