Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello and welcome to the Bragmancia Podcast, where healing isn't
just a buzzword, It's a lifestyle. I'm your host, Charlotte E. Adams, wife, mom, daughter, attorney,
licensed therapist, heart centered hypno therapist, founder of Bromancia Counseling Group,

(00:26):
which is located in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where healing blooms
one soul, one story, one pedal at a time. And
I'm a fellow traveler on this wild, beautiful journey called life.
Every Wednesday, we get real about mental health, emotional wellness,

(00:49):
and the kind of growth that starts from within. Whether
you're deeply invested in personal development or just beginning to
explore what healing means to you, this space is for you.
Here we blend science and soul, therapy and truth telling

(01:11):
because healing should be intentional, rooted and yes, deeply transformational.
So take a deep breath, settle in and join me
each Wednesday as we glow up, grow deep, and gently

(01:32):
let go. Hello and welcome to the Bregnancia Podcast. I
am your host, Charla Adams and so so so grateful
to be here another Wednesday with you all. So we're

(01:54):
gonna go ahead and start with the Charlotte Corner. And
today I want to something that happened in the Delta
Airlines lounge while we were waiting for our flight, a
moment that felt like a metaphor for life so common.
My son and I rushed in, eager to grab something

(02:18):
to eat. We skimmed the cold food bar, which was
right there in front of us. We grabbed a quick sandwich,
some salads, sat down and it was fine. It was enough,
but it really wasn't fulfilling. And meanwhile, Terrence, my husband,
he moved slower, He walked past what we saw, and

(02:39):
he kept going. He wasn't in a hurry, he wasn't
in rush mode, survival mode. And because he took his time,
he discovered something Connor and I had missed, a warm
bar filled with rice, seasoned chicken, roasted vegetables, fresh baked cookies, etc.

(03:02):
He didn't settle for what was first available. He walked
further and found the nourishment. And that moment it struck me,
how many times do we settle for the first thing
we see, the quick fix, the surface level option, because
we're rushing, because we're tired, because we don't believe something
better is waiting if we just breathe and keep going.

(03:27):
The dental lounge reminded me the best parts are often
just beyond the rush. What's warm, rich and fulfilling takes
a moment to find, and you have to slow down
to receive the good stuff. So this is your invitation,
brig Nancies, to stop moving so fast, to stop chasing

(03:48):
what's immediately available, just because it's familiar, to stop living
on cold sandwiches when your soul is craving something cooked,
warm and made with love. Pause. Look again, there's more
waiting for you, more joy, more clarity, more peace. If
you're willing to move through life with presence and not panic,

(04:13):
take your time. The good stuff is still there, all right.
So the title for the Brigmancia podcast today is the
Soft Life is Sacred, healing hustle, trauma and reclaiming rest

(04:34):
as resistance. So again, welcome back to the Bregnancia Podcast.
A sacred space where healing meets truth and where your
soul comes to exhale. And in today's episode, it's timely
and I believe it's prophetic because today we're talking about

(04:55):
why the soft life is sacred and how to heal
hustle trauma, and we claim rest as resistance. So wherever
you are, let yourself land and take a breath. I'll
pause while you do that, and another, and now let's begin.

(05:21):
Brett Nancy, your family. We live in a world that
told us our worth was in what we do, that
if we just worked harder, prayed harder, stayed up later,
pushed through the pain, we'll earn our seat at the table.
But what if I told you the table was built

(05:43):
on our backs? What if I told you that generations
of individuals have been carrying the weight of everyone else's
survival while quietly abandoning their own breath. That's hustle trauma.
It's the programming that says you're only as valuable as

(06:03):
your productivity, that rest is lazy, and if you stop,
everything will fall apart, and maybe so will you. Hustle
trauma is sneaky because it wears the mask of ambition, responsibility,
even strength. But beneath it is fear, hypervigilance, chronic fatigue,

(06:26):
nervous system dysregulation, and a soul whispering I'm so tired,
but I don't know how to stop. Let's reframe this
right now, Rest is not a reward for having earned it.
Rest is a basic human need and a spiritual portal.

(06:48):
Let me say it louder. Rest is resistance. When you
choose to slow down in a system that profits off
of your burnout, you are disrupting generation no harm. You
are saying, my body matters, My joy is not optional.
My softness is not weakness. It's holy when you choose

(07:12):
to take a nap instead of folding one more load
of laundry. When you say no even though you're expected
to say yes, When you honor your emotional and energetic glimps,
you are healing something ancient. You are mothering the younger
you who was never allowed to rest. Here are some

(07:37):
subtle signs that hustle trauma is still living in your body.
You feel guilty resting even when you're exhausted. You constantly
anticipate worst case scenarios. You over commit, over extend, and
then silently resent it. You only feel safe or worthy

(08:01):
when you're achieving. You have a hard time receiving compliments.
Help love softness. You don't know who you are without
a to do list? Does this sound familiar? If you
felt a lump in your throat just now, I see you,

(08:24):
and I want you to know there's nothing wrong with you.
There's just something deep inside of you that hasn't had
permission to exhale until now. So now let's talk about
the soft life. The soft life is not about luxury
purses and island vacations. The soft life is about nervous

(08:47):
system safety. It's about returning to your body and asking
what do I need to feel safe? Not just to survive,
but to feel The soft life is sacred because an honor, slowness, stillness,
boundaries ease peace. The self life whispers you don't have

(09:13):
to prove anything to be loved. So how do we begin?
We begin with tiny symbolic commitments of trying this. Maybe

(09:33):
scheduling rest before you schedule responsibilities. Yes, put rest on
your calendar. To name your guilt and don't obey it.
Guilt is a signal, not a truth. Three create sacred
rest rituals. A warm shower by candlelight, a quiet moment

(09:57):
before everyone else wakes up. A soft life playlist, a
nap without apology for speak, affirmations that deep program hustle trauma.
Maybe try these. My worth is not in my work.
Rest is safe rest is sacred. Rest is mine. I

(10:21):
am allowed to feel good without earning it. Formancy your family.
I want to lead you through a short nervous system.
Drop in just a minute or two to help your body.
Remember what ease feels like. Close your eyes. If it's safe,

(10:42):
place one hand over your heart, one hand over your
womb or your belly. In hell, through your nose, exhale
out your mouth, and say to yourself gently, I am
safe to rest. Nothing is required of me right now.

(11:09):
I get to live a soft, sacred life. Let that land,
breathe that in. When you're ready, slowly open your eyes
and come back. Here's what I want to leave you with.

(11:37):
The revolution isn't loud. It's not always a protest sign
or a viral moment. Sometimes the revolution is you choosing
to go to bed early, to not over explain your no,
to let the dishes wait, to say I'm not available

(12:02):
for hustle anymore. I'm choosing peace. The soft life is sacred,
and you you are sacred. Thank you for sharing the
space with me today. If this episode spoke to your soul,
