Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello, and welcome to the Brogmancia Podcast, where healing isn't
just a buzzword, It's a lifestyle. I'm your host, Charlotte E. Adams, wife, mom, daughter, attorney,
licensed therapist, heart centered hypno therapist, founder of Bromancia Counseling Group,

(00:25):
which is located in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where healing blooms
one soul, one story, one pedal at a time. And
I'm a fellow traveler on this wild, beautiful journey called life.
Every Wednesday, we get real about mental health, emotional wellness,

(00:49):
and the kind of growth that starts from within. Whether
you're deeply invested in personal development or just beginning to
explore what healing means to you, this space is for you.
Here we blend science and soul, therapy and truth telling

(01:10):
because healing should be intentional, rooted and yes, deeply transformational.
So take a deep breath, settle in and join me
each Wednesday as we glow up, grow deep, and gently

(01:31):
let go. Hello, Brognancies, and welcome back to the Bragmancia Podcast.
I am your host, Charlotte Adams, and as always, I
am grateful for our small moment together on Wednesday, so

(01:52):
thank you again for checking in with me. We are
going to head on over to the Charlotte Corner and
today what came to mind is a story that I
want to share with you all, and that is after

(02:15):
we got married, Terrence and I, we did a twenty
one day European trip for our honeymoon, and we you know,
started in England, went to Belgium, Amsterdam, Venice, Florence, Lichenstein,
you know, so many places. It was a beautiful experience.

(02:36):
We ended in a pair of France and we came home.
But I want to talk about specifically a moment in Florence,
Italy that we had. And we went with a group
of people and part of that group and the package
was that you know, some of our lunches and dinners

(02:57):
came to you know, a package. And so when we
walked to this very quaint, you know, restaurant in Florence, Italy,
we saw at the very beginning, right there at the
front door was a tray of desserts and it was

(03:19):
chocolate cake, Terramassoux Canole's. And I looked at Terrence and
I said, I cannot wait to have dessert. So dinner
was good. We had homemade pastas it was. It was phenomenal,
but I wanted to get to the park for the desserts.

(03:40):
That's what that was a carrot for me. And so
when it became dessert time, they just hyped it up
to say, oh, you all are gonna get one of
our authentic Italian desserts. They came out with these sharp
knives and I'm thinking, oh wow, like, are they about
to give us, like at heart the ball that we're

(04:01):
gonna have to like cut open? Like what is going
on here? So eventually they came out with the dessert
and family, you will not believe what they gave us.
It was an apple, yes, app l e a regular

(04:28):
red apple, and they explained to us that this was
a true authentic Italian dessert. The knives were used to
just kind of cut the apple and eat it. And
my heart dropped and Terrence was laughing at me because

(04:50):
in that moment I felt so let down. My desire
was set on the extraordinary, but life handed me something simple,
and that's when the deeper lesson came. How often do
we miss the divine gift because it doesn't look like

(05:19):
what we expected. Life often gifts us with what appears
ordinary plane or even disappointing compared to our imagination. Yet
within that simplicity, it is nourishment, it's purity, and it's
being authentic. The apple was a reminder that not everything

(05:45):
sacred or divine or gifts are gonna come wrapped in
richness and in layers. Sometimes it comes in a form
so simple we almost overlook it. So what am I
inviting you to discover to think about today? This is it?

(06:12):
What apple is life placing in front of you right now?
Where are you craving fireworks but being asked to taste
the sweetness of the simple. The profound often hides in
the plane. When we open our hearts beyond expectation, we

(06:35):
discover that every gift, no matter how it looks, is divine.
All right. So moving on to our Brignancia subject matter

(06:56):
for this week, and the title here is when sie
silence breaks, finding your voice after hiding. All right, So
welcome back again to the Burgmancia Podcast. I'm your host,
Charlotte Adams, and today we're talking about silence, not the

(07:18):
peaceful kind, but the silence we used to protect ourselves,
to stay safe or to keep from rocking the boat.
For many of us, silence becomes a survival tool, but
over time, that same silence can become a prison. This

(07:39):
episode is about what happens when we break the silence
and begin to find our voice again. Silence often starts
as protection in childhood, in relationships, in work settings, begin

(08:01):
to speak to the abdaptive side of silence. Sometimes not
speaking was the only way we knew how to stay safe.
And then shift into how silence begins to cost us
our identity, our truth, even our joy. Question where in

(08:27):
my life did I learn it was safer to be
quiet than to be real. Silence creates distance between us
and others, but also between us and ourselves. I want

(08:50):
you to explore how hiding your truth erodes self worth
and think about the nervous system's response. Suppression creates tension, anxiety,
even depression. It's like swallowing your own voice until you

(09:15):
can barely recognize its sound. Three steps for breaking silence
can begin with one whisper. First, practice saying your truth softly,

(09:35):
maybe in a journal or to yourself in the mirror,
to safe witnessing, share with a trusted friend, therapist, or
even a voice memo, and let your voice exist outside
of you. Three embodied expression, hum, sing, or speak with

(10:02):
your body engaged. Movement helps the nervous system feel safe.
Breaking silence doesn't mean you need to shout. It means
your voice deserves to exist. I want to pause here
and invite you into a short practice, something simple but powerful.

(10:26):
This is about helping your body remember that your voice
is safe, that it belongs to you, and that it
deserves to exist. Step one, close your eyes if you can,
and take a slow, deep breath in through your nose.

(10:48):
Hold it gently at the top for just a moment,
and then exhale slowly through your mouth. As you breathe,
place a hand slightly over your throat and another on
your heart. Feel the rise and fall beneath your palms.

(11:10):
Notice the connection between your breath, your voice, and your heart. Two. Humming.
On your next ex hell, I want you to hum softly,
nothing loud, nothing forces, just a gentle hum, like a
vibration that ripples through your chest and your throat. Do

(11:34):
this again. Inhale deeply, exhale with a hum. Feel the
way your body responds. Humming soothes the nervous system and
it begins to open the throat, which is the energetic
center of expression. Allow yourself to hum three maybe four times,

(11:56):
like you're waking your voice up from a long sleep.
The third step whispered truth. Now, when you're ready, whisper
a truth that feels safe for you. It could be
as simple as I am here, or my voice matters,

(12:17):
or maybe there's something more personal waiting to be spoken.
Just say it softly to yourself, Whisper it again, and
let the sound of your own truth register in your body.
Take one more deep breath, sigh it out, and notice
how you feel. Even in this small practice, you've given

(12:41):
your voice permission to exit outside of silence. Remember, your
voice doesn't have to be loud to be powerful. It
only needs to be yours. All right, let's return back
to our conversation from whisper to roar. Let's talk about

(13:06):
the beauty of watching your truth grow stronger each time
you use it, and remind yourself that voice doesn't have
to be loud to be powerful, It just has to
be authentic. Reflection question for you, what is one truth

(13:29):
you've been afraid to speak and what would change in
your life if you said it out loud? Brugmancies Silence
may have protected you once, but it is not your
forever home. Your voice is not a threat, it's a gift,

(13:51):
and the world is waiting for the sound of your voice.
Before we close today, I want to leave you with
the shoe, your simple acknowledgment, a moment for you and
your voice, and so I will speak to you during
this moment. May your voice rise when it is ready.

(14:11):
May your truth be carried with courage. May the silence
that once protected you now becomes space for freedom. You
are safe, you are worthy, and your voice it does matter.
Take one last breath in, say it out gently, and
as you move back into your day, may you carry

(14:34):
with you the knowing that silence no longer difind you
your voice does. If this episode resonated with you, please
please share it with someone who needs encouragement to find
their voice. And thank you, as always for allowing me
to walk beside you. Like us on social media platforms,
