Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Cases of the FBI podcast, retired agents share
some of their most incredible cases. Let's begin seven sixty four.
What is it? Well, the FBI has opened over two
hundred investigations into it, and it's tied to a violent
(00:23):
online network that calls itself seven sixty four. Let's learn
a little bit more about this. FBI officials, so they're
growing increasingly concerned about a loose network of violent predators
would be friend teenagers through popular online platforms to just TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat,
and then course them into escalating sexual and violent behavior,
puteing victims to create graphic pornography, harm family pets, count
(00:46):
themselves with sharp objects, or even die by suicide. The
online predator is part of the network known as seven
sixty four. Demand victims send them photos and videos of
it all so their shocking contact can be shared with fellows.
Followers are used to extort victims for more. Some of
the predators will even host watch parties for others to
(01:06):
watch them tornament victims live online. They've seen a lot
of bad things, but this is one of the most
disturbing things they've seen, says the FBI Assistant Director David Scott,
the FBI has over two hundred investigations currently underway, with
every single one of its fifty five field offices across
the country handling a seven sixty four case. That's outrageous.
(01:29):
Nihilistic violent extremists are known as it's very scary and frightening.
Last year, in classic New England town of Vernon, a
local police arrest of the girl, a former honor roll student,
for conspiring with a six seven sixty four devotee overseas
to direct bomb threats of her own community. When police
searched her devices, they found pornographic photos of hurt, photos
(01:52):
depicting self mutilation, and photos of her paying homage to
seven sixty four. As the FBI Assistant Director Scott said,
one of the main goals of seven sixty four in
similar networks is so chaos and bring down society. That's
why the FBI's counter Terrorism Division and the Justice Department
National Security Division are now looking at seven sixty four
and its offshoots this potential form of domestic terrorism. The
(02:16):
more gore, the more violence that raises their statue within groups,
so it's sort of a badge of honor. Craig the
ABC newsed review of cases across the country. Over the
past few years, state and federal authorities have arrested at
least fifteen people in child pornography or weapons related charges
and accused him in court of being associated with seven
sixty four. In one of those federal cases, a twenty
(02:38):
four year old plotted to murder a fourteen year old
girl who started resisting his demands when he pled guilty
to conspiracy and child pornography charged three months ago. When
they asked the individual why he did it, he believed
the murder would raise his statue within the network. In
another case, a nineteen year old Jack Rocker of Tampa
(03:00):
I masked a collection of more than eighty three hundred
videos and images that the Justice Department called some of
the most horrific content they've seen. While amassing his collection,
Rocker organized his digital content into folders, one called trophies,
one called seven sixty four. Another is fans signing, which
is a form of self mudulation. Followers of the seven
(03:23):
sixty four network i'll share all sorts of video content
with their victims. While some also glorified pass managed casualty attacks,
such as the nineteen ninety nine Columbine High School shooting.
Just two weeks ago, the Justice Department announced the arrest
of a twenty year old North Carolina man, Poisan and
Paul for allegedly operating an elite online club dedicated to
promoting seven sixty four extorting young victims. So it's really
(03:50):
crazy how thinks this thing is growing. Since the launch
of the initial seven sixty four group, which garnered a
couple of one hundred discord followers, seven sixty four now
has become a global movement. This is the scary part
of the Internet is how much bad guys can reach
out to each other, with an array of offshoots and
(04:10):
subgroups that often rebrand and change their names to help
keep social media companies law enforcement off their tail. The
original seven sixty four was itself an offshoot of previous
extremists and gore focused groups. Think of it less as
a group, folks, and more as an ideology. It doesn't
really matter what they're called. There's a lot of individuals
(04:31):
here who are encouraging this type of behavior and it's everywhere.
So we have to be villigent with your children, especially
if they're teenagers, monitor their social media. If you can't
just keep it off, keep them off of it, especially
anything where they can communicate with the outside public world.
It's a very dangerous world for them right now, so
(04:55):
again be on the alert for seven sixty four. You
can get more information from the FBI.
