what's it all is about this week's episode?

I Carl, you should tell us about it because that
was a very enthusiastic way to go through the appreciate it.

I am I am over this season. This season is
one of the worst seasons.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Hang on, no, no, hang on, hang on, we have
the we have the full four and I forgot to
bring this up last episode and I was going to
that this this season actually has like because we're not
eliminating the worst place player, it's allowing some really unique
gameplay that I think is worth mentioning Because you hate
the season so much if you look at it from
that perspective. I kind of like that Katie and Veronica

are like in on this game, at least in terms
of this episode. There's something to be said for that
that they would not be in on this game if
it was the last Place goes home or last Place
goes into elimination. So it does introduce some different kind
of gameplay. I read that on a Reddit thread and
it enlightened me a little bit.

Yeah, I feel like you mentioned that you were going
to talk about that, like I think last week, and
we never got a rend it. We forgot to mention it.

So here I just mentioned it. There you go.

Yeah, if you saw it on Reddit, Tim, But I
was looking at Reddit right before this podcast, and in
contrast to Wolfe, there was a post of people talk
about how this is the best season in the last three,
four or five six years.

M hmm. I think it's a matter of it's a
matter of perspective, and I think that this I had
to sort of shift my perspective to enjoy the season more,
and that's one of the things I had to change.

Speaker 5 (02:48):
I don't dislike this season. I don't think this season
is the best. I do really love that three of
four on sa Hold One, Shaneon, Davon, uh Melan, Nicole,
Veronica and Katie Nanni and Turbo. Four of the six
teams that are left have queer people on them, which

I think is fantastic because the representation for the queer
community has been severely lacking in the last ten plus years.

Caroline, I don't know if you've heard this, but we
were people on merit now not for their sexual orientation.

in everything in the United States.

If you do not think this is the best season
like in the last I don't know three to five years,
which season do you think is the best?

What season? When you put above this?

Because I feel like the last few years a lot
of us have been very negative about the seasons.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
I feel like people keep saying that we've been very
negative about the seasons, but we haven't actually been very
Negative've been negative about some of the episodes, but like
the All Star seasons are almost all really good. The
first Old Star season we all loved totally.

Speaker 3 (04:10):
I feel like we spend most of our All Stars
time praising the seasons. Yeah, and I feel like I
really do.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
I feel like we also really liked War of the
World I wasn't on the on the pot at that
point in time, but I feel like War of the
World's was one of the one of the seasons that
people liked more than anything else because there were a
bunch of new people on it. It was significantly harder
than it had been. Yeah, and it was the final,
Like the final will always stick out in my head

for because it's like forty people couldn't finish it.

Those weren't in the last five years.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
No, I was gonna say, I think that's like that
we're the world. There are ten years ago.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Oh yeah, that of those ten years ago wouldn't be well.

I know it's.

Twenty nineteen, so just as that was six years ago.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
I liked forty a lot. I know we had a
lot of discussions on this show about liking forty and not.
I thought I thought forty was a pretty decent season. Yea,
All Stars. I've I've praised the All Star seasons. Yeah.
Hated Battle for the New Champion. That was the fucking worst.
That sucked so hard.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
That was really bad.

Speaker 6 (05:13):
I loved the last offers. I feel like, and maybe
I'm just misremembering. I feel like you guys were very
negative about it because of the whole Laurel stuff.

Speaker 5 (05:22):
Yeah, well, I mean, yes, we were really negative about
it because of the Laurel stuff.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Because but you can also enjoy a season. But you
can enjoy a season while also being negative about the
Laurel stuff or that Steve got sort of ripped off,
Like that's part of that's part of the enduring charm
of it. It's I don't think that I hated it
just because I bitched about it, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
Because that's I feel like it was brought up multiple
times in like various different reviews where they kept saying, like,
you guys need to stuff. If you don't like the show,
then you should stop doing the podcast. But we kept
none of us were saying that we didn't like the show.

Like Laurel.

Speaker 6 (05:56):
I feel like Wolfy comes on every season says he
hates the show.

Speaker 7 (06:01):
Yeah, but that's part of full charm.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
He's been doing that for ten years. The start of
this is the start of this podcast.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
I feel like Season forty was just a letdown all around.
But this All Star season, I feel like, with the
exception of this episode, which we'll get into, I feel
like most of the challenges I have not enjoyed and
most of the eliminations I have not enjoyed.

There is something to be said for that. Yeah, they're
making it they're making it too equal.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Yeah, I have not enjoyed that they don't have like physical,
real eliminations.

Yeah.

That annoys the shit out of me.

Yeah.

It is weird because I like Survivor because it is
sort of like anybody can win, and this they try
to make it anybody can win, But to me, it
goes against like sort of what the show is like. Yeah,
physical prowess is part of this show. Yeah, and if you.

Remove that why we all love the show.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah. I get this All Stars anybody can win bullshit.
But I also like, I don't know, I don't want
anybody to win, Like Veronica shouldn't win this show.

You know, I will say, you know, I know they've
gotten away from the concept of All Stars being like ogs,
but it wasn't really until the Jack era where athleticism mattered.
Before that, it was a bunch of carnival games that
anyone could win, like how much ice cream can you
eat without your hands and rubbing soap off a bowl,
you know, a pole with your body, Like No, that

was that.

Was that was after. That was not before.

The finals used to be like a one mile run,
you know in the OG days.

Yeah, yeah, I see your point, Zach, But I think
I guess like the show evolved, and I liked the evolution,
and now it's like de evolving. I liked. I want
to go back to the excess, to where they're fucking
climbing up mountain and shit and like like dying on it,
like like almost can't make it up.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Part of the reason why I loved this show for
so long, it's because you're seeing them do these really
fucking cool things, like really hard climbing up mountains, jumping
into like giant bodies of water, jumping off of buildings,
like doing all of these things that are just crazy
that you'd never think that you'd never be able to
do in a normal everyday thing. And then they have

to and they have to prove themselves.

In all of it.

They have to have the the part of the the
whole point of the challenge is to be challenged, Like
if you're if you are able to come to this
show no offense to them, but looking like Anissa and
Veronica and Big Easy and like these people who are
just not physically fit enough to do these challenges, then

they are not being challenged. Like I it just it
drives me nuts. The it's the equally the equalizers for everybody.

Speaker 3 (08:52):
Yeah, because the champs should be the best runner, best
puzzle person, best swimmer, Like that's the point. You're supposed
to collect these skills and then that how you show
them off from the final Yeah.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
I think I think the way they've gone wrong is
I think the challenges are fine if they had stuck
with the OG concepts, Like if we had people like
Montana and Genesis doing these competitions, great, But when you
have like Nanny doing them, it's like you have the
young athletic people doing the old people challenges.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
Then they shouldn't. Then that's the that's a producer thing.
They shouldn't entertwentangle these people. Then you know, no time.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Sense, that's where they went wrong.

Speaker 6 (09:29):
They need to go back to like you know, the
or the all thar seasons, being like people from the
first ten to twelve seasons of the Challenge.

Yeah, just need to go back to All Stars being which.

I'd be fine with all these. Yes, these sort of
like middle middle, middle of their players who probably haven't
kept up with the physical fitness so much, but there's
still like normal, normal now people in their early forties. Yeah,
let's watch them. Let's let's watch them go.

Well, that's the thing, Like I don't I don't mind
it being some of the younger quote unquote younger players
like Nanny. Nannie's not young, but like, I don't mind
it being those kinds of.

Players, as I still hold solid to the if.

You're going to show up on All Stars, you should
not be allowed to go on the regular show, and
vice versa. For the regular show, I should not be
able to do both of them. Like there's a reason
why we have All Stars and there's a reason why
we have the regular show.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
So yeah, I was a late coming to that, but
I agree with you, and I think partially inspired by
this season.

Speaker 6 (10:55):
Yeah, I still think it just should be like age along,
because like someone like Cory Lay who's in this crime,
should not be going to head to head with Kafla
or Cyrus, like there are different athletic stages of their life.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Yeah. Yeah, so these people should not be on All Stars.
That's where you're coming, zact.

But to go back to like the first you have
to have been on the first fifteen seasons, their first
twelve season of the Challenge.

See, I don't I don't feel like they need to
go back that far. I'm totally fine with like Frank
and Sam being on this on this season because they're
people that we haven't seen in ten years, but we
probably will never see them on They're never going to
take the time to go to an actual season and
you know, take that kind of time off of the
out of their life and go and do that. They're also,

like Sam is never going to be able to compete
in the regular season the way that everybody else is.
So I don't mind seeing them in this show. But
like Nanny, why the fuck is Nanni there? Corey big Tea,
Melissa Nicole, Why are all of those people there, Turbo.
The fact that they let Turbo back at all is
surprising to me.

Speaker 6 (11:59):
And if it's just like I'm okay with Frank being there,
if it's just a thing where he's telling them, I
will never do another regular season because of the length,
but he's okay do the length.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Frank should be back on the normal season, Like say,
I agree.

With that, Yeah, I agree to you, And yeah it
does make weird rules. Then for somebody like Frank that
we haven't seen in ten years, we're gonna let him
back on the flagship or does he have you know
what I mean? Like it's these weird like what do
we do with these weird in betweeners?

But I also kind of feel like like people like
John A who has been on what all five season
four of the five seasons one two of them, Like, no,
you should be allowed to be on. You can be
on two. You should be allowed to just continuously come
Like this is not the same thing as the regular challenge,
Like this is meant to bring back those players we
haven't seen in forever. We don't want to see you

year after year. If we wanted to see you after
year after year, then go to the regular show. If
only this one is because you know that you won't
be able to compete in.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
The regular show, especially guys like Derek Kaczinski. I need,
I need him about once every five years. That's that's
all I can.

Speaker 5 (12:59):
That's all I can, and taken every season so actively
trying to get onto the right.

Speaker 8 (13:05):
I know it's annoying, and I know I know that
I'm like most people disagree with this, but I also
think winning an All Stars season is closer to winning
Champs First Stars than winning a flagship season.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
I have minimal respect for winning All Stars.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
Well you got a not minimal respect, but.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
It's I don't.

Speaker 6 (13:24):
Yeah, I think if if you know, Champs First Stars
is at the one end and Flagships at the other,
I think it's closer to Champs First Stars than it
is a flagship.

So I put this pretty solidly in the middle.

I would too, but it doesn't like where do we again, Mike,
where do we draw the line between what counts as
a champ? Like do John A's two All Star wins
count is changed? I don't know. It's a weird one.
And if we're going to count all Stars, we should
count Champs versus Stars. Like, I don't know, it's just
a weird thing to Yeah, the only reason I.

Put this more in the middle to the closer side
to the regular show is because All Stars was a
It was what over like a week and a half,
and they lived in a hotel and you know, they
still had all their phones and it was still more
like regular.

Regular the Champs.

You're saying, Chancers of Stars, whereas All Stars, it's still
it's not the full length of the show, but you're
still going to a different location. You are staying in
a house like you would in the regular show. Like
you're still having to deal with all of the mental
game that you have to deal with in the regular show,
where you didn't really have to do that in Champs

Versus Stars. So I I that's why I graded more, like,
I guess, probably closer to the regular show than I
would CHAMPSI Stars. I agree, I don't think it's at
the same level by anyone.

The main thing that pushed me in that direction is
I've heard a couple of founders say, like the hardest
part of the main flagship show is that, you know,
being isolated from your friends, your family, the real world.
And I've heard them say, on All Stars, you have
a lot more ability to contact home whenever you want
with like you know, it's not just okay, you get
ten minutes a week. It's like, hey, if you want
to call your family every day, you can call them

one today, Like you can call them today.

Yeah, we've seen I mean, we've even seen that represented
on the show.

Yeah, on the regular show. Give us a fuck.

the episode, she's a explaining like, oh, you know, you
never know what's gonna happen in the challenge and you
gotta be ready for everything. Like she has been here
for a while, like she knows what this game is about.

Like it was just it's it's the same thing as
like when I'm fucking Adam does it, or when it's
just it's all of these people who are Dario, who
like it's almost like they think that they know what
this game is about. It's your game.

Nelson, that's what you're getting, Carl. When the producers tell Nelson, hey, Nelson,
could you explain how to win this challenge, and Nelson goes, well,
to win this challenge, we got to get the thing
we got to win, and then they're like, all right, thanks, Nelson,

It doesn't bother me when Sam does it. I think

Melissa have mended their friendship. They are hardcore flirting, and
Veronica comes out and calls out Nicole, like, get out,

But also it looked more like Melissa was the pursuer.

Yeah, but Nicole is not going to back down if

Sure, But we're used to Nicole being the shitty one
that's like super pursuing women. And this time it doesn't

That's what I caught too. She seemed like she was
leaning away. She seemed like she was awkward and feeling
uncomfortable with it. I don't think comfortable.

I think she was attempting to be like, Oh, I'm gonna,
I'm gonna do the good girl thing, and I'm gonna
I'm gonna back away. And then Melissa spit coat k
in her mouth or whatever the hell it was.

I think it was she spit whatever drink they just
poured in her mouth into Nicole's mouth. Oh okay, but
it looked like a kiss. I mean it was very.

more hardcore than kidding kissing, but just spit my mouth
type of ship.

already cheated? I mean, with the way that the two
of them are acting, I would not be surprised those two.

have Nanny talking to Casey and they're like baby talking
hardcore and they're talking about having a baby hardcore and
the whole thing just felt should be to me.

But only because they've broken up since.

Right, yes? Yeah, context, Yes, only because we know that
they are no longer together, but the baby talk weird
to me the fuck out. I don't like it when
anybody baby.

How long nanny has been on this show and how
often she comes back. Producers maybe could have been a
little bit nicer and be like, maybe we'll cut some
of this shit out right.

I saw a post I'm ready talked about how to
take them like five ten minutes to just go and
cut this scene out once they broken.

I liked this is a good like anybody can win it,
but it's still tense, It's still requires skill and endurance
and concentration, like this is a good, well rounded game. Yep,
