on this episode of the Chromaniacs. The Chromaniacs number twelve,
Thank you for being here. Also coming up in just
a little bit, in about twenty minutes or so, we
bring back the Voice of the Supporters segment and.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
We are thrilled we're going way.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Up the food chain today, gentlemen, as we welcome in
Vanessa B, Vice President of Frontera SD, the official recognized
supporters group for San Diego FC, so we'll get to
really get into it with Vanessa b about the origin
of Frontera SD, the challenges they faced, the growth of
(02:00):
they've experienced. She's going to San Jose just like Alex PayNet,
not together, separate trip, but they are both going to
be in the same place come this Sunday. So we'll
talk to Vanessa be a little bit later.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
We'll get all the way.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
Into the quakes and the chromatos. We'll talk about it
all as we continue forward here on episode twelve of
The Chromaniacs.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
If you missed it, we did a postgame show after
San Diego beat Sporting Case two Nothing.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
You can go back in the feed one show and
you will find that one and you'll get much more
in depth. We'll kind of quickly go back through that
match here momentarily, but if you want to hear in
depth discussion of it, just one.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Podcast back in the feed.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
Also a reminder, you can follow us on Instagram at
the Chromaniacs, an account co managed by our dear friend
Terrible SDFC memes. He does a great job for us.
I say we've grown again week over weeks, so thank
you very muchiate it. Barreling towards some more round number milestones.
(03:04):
For that account, thank you. Also, please rate and review
the show. We've been getting some nice reviews. We've been
getting some nice ratings. If you're on YouTube, the O
thumbs up. It doesn't hurt you at all, right, one, two, three, click? Okay, great, amazing.
Thanks to everybody for being here, Thanks to everybody for
supporting the show. I look at the numbers. I can
(03:24):
see that the audience for the show is growing week
after week after week after week, and that tells us
we're doing the right things. We're just putting the show
out there and people are finding it. So thanks to
everybody who was helping us to direct folks to the show.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Thanks to all of you.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
You are early proselytizers and we appreciate it. Okay, guys,
let's roll into it. Pretty quiet week for San Diego FC.
No drama, no former players signing somewhere else. You know,
a market rate on market rate, we don't know. We
(04:01):
don't have to worry about that this week. It's been
a very sh quiet week. Heading to San Jose is
mentioned on Sunday, which means you didn't even get a
training opportunity. It won't be till tomorrow, right, Tony.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
That is correct, tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
I believe it's going to be Cij Dosantos along with
head coach Mike Vadas and an additional player. Can get
to you in a bit, but yeah, Chiva will be
out there for all that audio as they prepare for
another Sunday afternoon game.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
So we don't have any training sound for you because
they haven't had an availability yet because instead of playing
on a Saturday, they are playing on a Sunday. So
that's why a little bit lighter on the front end
of this episode of the Chromaniacs. But I thought we
could just take a few minutes for those who didn't
go and listen to the postgame show to revisit a
to nothing win at Sporting KC, one of those games
(04:57):
that reminds you that soccer is not stratomatic.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
Soccer is not chess.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Soccer is not anything that has a rolling compendium of
stats and then at the end the team with the
best stats wins. No, it's a game filled with randomness.
And while I'm sure the Sporting KC version of this
podcast is saying like should have could have what a
(05:23):
we really should have taken it to those guys in XG,
we kicked their ass.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
That doesn't matter. Two nil is the final score lost
lost on XG. One on goals G turns out still
very important.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
Yeah, and I think that's the only stat that matters
in this game. And when yeah, when you look at
the numbers, yeah, it was just clear if San Diego
was the team that executed, Kansas City couldn't get a
goal in and that's her match right there. And and
we gave them plenty of opportunities. Like San Diego was
(06:01):
just was bombarded, just shot after shot after shot, and
Mono Duo was there, you know, Chris mick Way was there,
the Santos was there, just stopping everything and and that
was that was really good, you know, good for that
We faced a Kansas City team and at home and
(06:22):
it's a place that they don't get shut up often
and came away, came away with three points. So that
that that's your your match day summer right there.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
And you know, just around the MLS, around MLS with
you know, having connections in different markets in terms of
like things have been there, right we're the new market,
so there's no real point of contact for San Diego FC.
For the for the for the most part, other than
ourselves sometimes but otherwise otherwise, there's twelve different podcasts sometimes
and it's starting to really trickle down where it's like, oh,
(06:58):
this team keeps winning, Sandy WEFC keeps winning. They find results,
and they're finding now their fifth consecutive away from Snapdragon Stadium,
like there is something with this team. And then they'll
look at the highlights and they'll look at these individual
performances and while the individual performances don't tell you much
of the actual group of body of work that STFC
has been able to do with their play style, with
(07:19):
their philosophy, this is.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Scary for anybody. Look at that Cchukulosun goal.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
This game was resolved by two individuals, and that is
the DPS. And on the defensive end, it was resolved
by a collective of the defense. But I'll put an
individual of a young Mono dua. And these are the
games where it really just puts the regular good teams
to elite teams. These types of performances are what start
(07:46):
building that confidence for later in the season where hey,
you're gonna have to have a back to back to
back series with a team you're gonna have to be
able to have back to back to back good performances,
and each of these games might be different, and you're
gonna have to be able to to do that. Once
playoffs rolls in, so good good stuff by San DIEGOFC.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
And they're DPS as well.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
And as such, San Diego has won five consecutive matches
away and traveling over to a via stadium this weekend
to take on San Jose in a difficult road environment.
There would be many other shapes of seasons where this
would be a match that she'd be really nervous about. Instead,
I think San Diegans are approaching it with a lot
(08:29):
of confidence and excitement.
Speaker 2 (08:32):
And you know the reason for that. To me, guys,
a team that wins away.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Usually is the kind of team that can win a
championship because two leg playoffs.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Are won by a great away result.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Right, That's how you secure those types, especially like the
first round of the MLS playoffs. That's how you can
secure it is with an away result. That's how you
could win if you weren't Number one, right is pulling
something out out away from home. And yet the club
has not been quite as good at home as they
have been away.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
So how do you read that.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Is that just the vagaries of randomness of a soccer
season or is this signs of the bones of a
potential title contending club.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
Man that that's a really good question.
Speaker 5 (09:25):
And I think when all throughout sports, you do want
those road Warriors to keep winning and and yeah, collect
those wins and you will see them do well in
the playoffs and potentially win that championship and that and
that's how you do it. In other when you watch
(09:45):
other leagues do that, that away result is so important.
Speaker 4 (09:49):
And when you have a team like.
Speaker 5 (09:50):
That that you can really build off those road wins,
it's pretty much they're they're pretty much unstoppable.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
Now, why why is it that they can't do this
at home?
Speaker 5 (10:02):
That's a good question because I feel like with the
with the fans that we have in the stadium and everything,
it should be more of a fortress. And yet I see,
you know, three losses and four draws at home with
seven wins, and and on the road you have four
(10:25):
losses and no draws and eight wins. And it's like, Okay,
how came. How can we kind of convert that energy
that we take when we're on the road and convert
it back back home.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
You know that that's still a mystery to me.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
And if you ask heagewards Mikey Vadas, his official answer
is there's no difference. There's no discernible difference between this
team and how they play and the effort that they're
going to give whether it's home or away. Sure, but
the results are clearly there, like there is something And
in talking with the players throughout media availability in this year,
I believe if it was Honors Dryer a couple of
just like early months ago, like a month or two ago,
(11:05):
he actually mentioned that, like, you know, like there is
an edge to this team when they're away there they
want to prove something. They they're playing a little bit
with more freedom because there are no expectations away at home,
there is expectations, there is a fan base. There is
something that you have to uphold, and it's a little
bit more difficult to be creative and and move outside
of this prepared Petri dish of a of a match
(11:28):
that you have at Snapdragon Stadium, where if you're away
it's easier to say, you know what, we're just going
to go ahead and throw the the.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Play style to the side a little bit.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
We need individuals here and we just need that creativity.
Go figure it out. And that's again what happened here, Tchookey, Treyer.
They figured it out. That's the recipe for the success
for this team. If if not else, right to dream
and the style doesn't work, rely on individual play and
it'll figure itself out. And so far this season, that's
exactly what's happened. Whether it's Dray, whether it's Chooky, whether
(12:01):
it's Bielonelwski's individual performances, that's what's helping this team be
first place in the West right now.
Speaker 1 (12:09):
I think the thing that surprises me the most about
their road success is how much youth is in the
defense of San Diego. And if you were just going
to work on cliches and build off of like long
standing decades build cliches about sports, you'd say, well, a
young defense is gonna really struggle on the road because
(12:30):
it's gonna be intimidated by the environment. It's gonna be
a step slow, it's gonna be reactive. Sometimes, it's gonna
be overcaffeinated and try and do too much, and then
you're gonna get yellow cards or a bad red card
or surrender a really important free kick along the way,
and that's just not been the case, not often. Not
(12:50):
that there have not ever been giveaways. Of course there
have been some giveaways for the SDFC back line, But
you can't get fifteen out of fifteen on the road
with this young defense and then blame the defense for
being young.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Yeah, and what.
Speaker 5 (13:07):
It's It's interesting when I was like looking this all up,
when it came to like San Jose, I'm sure they
can use you know, Oscar Varhoven now in their back line.
I'm sure that look up a Reno can go back
to l a FC because they could probably use them.
They could probably he could be in the in the
roster too. And yet I go back to crediting like
(13:31):
the coaching staff, because how else is this being put
together in a way that it's successful and it works
for sandi UFC, like it shouldn't be working. Like these
are young players that are just being taken off the
US men's youth national roster. It's like, Okay, you're putting
(13:52):
all these guys, these pieces together and you're trying to
make it work, and somehow it works for us, and
it's amazing and it for me, it's like the credit
to them because how else are you are you doing this?
Speaker 3 (14:06):
There there's a moment, and there's been moments individually from
players that just tell me through the season, like that's
a guy like good, Like you want to see that
edge Goldoy is a is a walking just he is
the edge. Might as well play in you too, Like
that's who he is, Like he brings it every single time.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Like that you like that one.
Speaker 3 (14:25):
This is the edge of glory, Lady Gaga shout out
very musical today. But Masatlan against Masatlan in league's Cup,
there's a situation where David Basquez, who was the most
newly minted San Diego FC player at that time that
was getting ours, a nineteen year old goes up against
(14:45):
an adult, the best player on this in that league,
one of the playoff players in this league, getting up
to the face, hey you need to go ahead and
do this. Turns around and it's just getting pushed around
by other dudes, like just dudes, right, and he's not
back in down like this is what's different about these
kids is that they're ready to be put in those moments.
(15:08):
A different player, even a veteran player loses their mind.
They know there's nothing in this tournament, they know that
they have nothing to play for, and they just pushed
back or get themselves into trouble too. But at the
end of the day, he still got his licking, he
still stood his ground, he was still able to just
be part of you know what ended up being a
red card situation.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
And then who do you see removing him?
Speaker 3 (15:32):
And I know this is a couple of weeks back,
but it just stuck to me of that, like, that's
Ian Pilcher, another child who's out here. Hey, hey, hey,
that's cooler. Heads prevail, Let's move forward. But this is
what San Diego C is comprised of. They're making the
mental judgments correctly, but they also have the physical ability
(15:53):
to make and manifest good style play.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
All right, I got two questions for you guys that
I think will bridge the gap between here and Vanessa
Bee coming on the show. And the first is building
off of this topic, who would you now with the
caveat SDFC is an expansion team, So Chucky Lozano is
an MLS rookie and this Dryer is an MLS rookie.
So if we say, if I say rookie I'm not
(16:18):
I don't mean first year in MLS. What I mean
is one of the kids on the team, first professional season,
first year as an actual pro okay, who's been your
most impressive rookie so far for San Diego FC with
(16:39):
those qualifications? Not everyone on the team, and I've got
one for me, but who is your most impressive rookie
so far?
Speaker 4 (16:50):
You want to take this one first, Tony?
Speaker 3 (16:52):
I mean, hey, this might just turn into a into
a celebration of a player because this player has been fantastic.
Luca Bombino, blue Gabomino is is just not just a
boy amongst men, but a man again, a man amongst boys,
amongst men.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
He's the man amongst some in that he's a boy
amongst men, but he's a man sized boy, so he's
a man amongst men that's also a boy.
Speaker 3 (17:19):
It's a perfect matchup of like where Benjamin Button sort
of stayed.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
But there he is h either way.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
This this is the case where Blue Gablemino is here
and he's here to get minutes. He's owned by saying
by l a FC, he's owned by a rival, but
he's in here proving himself, proving his worth on the
defensive end, proving his worth on an attacking front, and
really being the one who took Negady out of the
equation entirely. Negaty was the one that was supposed to
(17:49):
start this season. Negative was supposed to be like, but
we whenever Negative shows up, there is a little bit
of a bobino today, Guys, is everything okay with him?
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (17:59):
He needs rust like and he's been consistent And I
think that consistency aspect for me that he's been able
to have just good games and even those moments were Yeah,
he's still a kid. He's able to bounce back, bounce
back and do very well.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
So for me.
Speaker 5 (18:15):
And A, yeah, I gotta go with a manor dua.
I think when we first talked about him and are
like talking about Club Club America and the friendly and everything,
I was like the player I was most excited to
see get minutes and because like I thought that he
was going to be more of a midfielder and they
(18:36):
just converted him to a center back and that that's
a hard thing to do. I had to see on
Tottenham Archie Gray do this. He's he is not a
center back, but he had to play one last year
just because they needed him.
Speaker 4 (18:53):
And it feels very similar.
Speaker 5 (18:55):
It feels like a young kid that doesn't have the experience,
but he's willing to put in the work. And I
think I've seen Mino Dua just put in the work
like for each each match, and he just gets.
Speaker 4 (19:07):
A little bit better here and there.
Speaker 5 (19:09):
And I think man last last match against Kansas City
probably his best performance so far.
Speaker 4 (19:16):
And yeah, and I just want to see more of him.
He is, he's such a great player.
Speaker 5 (19:21):
And the side I do wonder is he going to
remain at center back? Can he go back to midfield?
I do like the tall profile of the six' four
midfielder that can show up and just head a ball. In,
yeah that that to me that that could be a
potential threat down the. Road but for, now he's a
center back and he plays in the back line and
(19:44):
And i'm comfortable with him being the depth of that
we need. That if McNair comes in and he's the starter,
again then that's, fine or you rotate the, Guys i'm
fine either. WAY i think he's been handling his business
and it looks it looks pretty.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Good, well Now i'm really stuck in a bind BECAUSE
i was thinking that you guys might both Go, bombino
and THEN i was gonna Mention dua and make do
a my. Pick but now you guys are one. One
so what AM i supposed to? Do and NOW i
have to break the. Tie FIRST i need to throw
some flowers into the. Stands SO i would note, that you,
(20:24):
Know verhoven basically Sent laffelson back To europe by being
really really good and. Solid and while maybe his solid
play hasn't been as spectacular or noteworthy as the two
players that we've, discussed he's been really. Good you just
played the clips Of vasquez and him standing up to Mazit,
(20:45):
lan And i've really liked What i've seen in a
very very brief period of time along those. LINES i
Think solma's might be somebody who has a ceiling that's incredibly,
high but he has not done you, know other than
what twenty minutes you, know zero and M he's done
nothing For San DIEGO.
Speaker 2 (21:01):
Fc SO i think the objective correct answer Is.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
BOMBINO i Think bombino has had the best performance For
San DIEGO fc this, season BUT i think the highest
ceiling Is, dua and that's WHERE i side With, alex
BECAUSE i just feel Like, Doua i'm seeing.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Things i'm seeing high.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Level, skill and this is a kid who in his
very first game cost his team a, goal got. Benched you,
know it was very rookie, ish the kind of things
that you expect from a debut, performance and, honestly he's
bounded back from that as if his debut performance was
two goals in an, assist you, know like he came
(21:46):
back with all the confidence of a senior in high,
school you, know play in his next, match AND i
was really really impressed by. That so do was the
Guy i'm like the most intrigued. By BUT i Think
Luca bombino has had objectively the best rookie season of
any Young.
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Chromado what do you consider?
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Young, Sorry, alex but, like what what is your age
for cutoff in that in terms of?
Speaker 2 (22:09):
Soccer twenty? Three in? Blow?
Speaker 3 (22:13):
Okay so What i'm What i'm hearing here is, that you,
know in, consideration at some point do we forget about
our twenty two year old almost that.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
He's amy, Boy, yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:30):
He's only twenty. Two still wiping off that. Goal it
seems like he's helped with standard almost? Right is? That
is that? Unfair is that unfair to have him? Unfair?
Speaker 5 (22:40):
Nine and, technically due to his roster, spot he will
remain twenty two for the next however long we keep
him for the next four, seasons you could stay on
that under twenty two slot for for quite a. While
so he will forever be Twenty forever twenty.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Two that means you have an end on your your born.
Died that's when you're forever twenty. Two, UNFORTUNATELY i don't
WANT i don't want that to be the. Case, okay second,
question as we line up for A voice of the.
SUPPORTERS i was thinking about this, today, GUYS i was
(23:18):
really thinking about. It It's, Thursday august, fourteenth twenty twenty.
Five San DIEGO, fc an expansion, team is in first
place in THE Mls Western, conference four points clear first
place The San Diego, padres a venerable organization founded in
nineteen sixty. Nine they are in first place on This august,
(23:43):
fourteenth all by, themselves a game ahead of the defending
world Champion Los Angeles, dodgers first time they have been
in first place at this stage or later in a
season since twenty, ten a fifteen year. Gap San DIEGO
wavefc while you know they've picked up just single points
(24:04):
in their last three, results nonetheless top four in their,
conference strong contender in national women's. Soccer we don't have
AN nfl, team we don't have AN nba, Team but
in pro, sports is this like the golden time to
be A San diego? Fan specifically Today august, fourteen twenty twenty,
(24:28):
five our teams are in first.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
Place, Man AND i was thinking about this, too like
we haven't had like two first place teams since like
the mid two, thousands like back in those five six
years when The potters were in first place winning The,
west and then the OTHER nfl team was here. Too but,
(24:51):
yeah and, man doesn't it feel good to have two
first place teams for the first time in a long,
time and know in twenty, Years SO i feel good about.
It it just it makes me think so much about
what's coming up this fall with you're gonna.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
Have SAND ufc heading towards the.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Playoffs wave is also in their pursuit of, playoffs padres. Playoffs,
here it's just gonna be The San diego is gonna
be popping off essentially playoff, game playoff.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Game you you.
Speaker 5 (25:26):
You're gonna have to decide which one are you gonna?
Go are gonna go To, potters is gonna go go To?
Wave are gonna go TO? Sandyfc which one are you?
Deciding AND i think that's a. Yeah try to try
to make. It, yeah if there's gonna be an afternoon
game at The snap and then you, know a night
game At, peco let's do.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
It let's go and party and have a good.
Speaker 5 (25:47):
Time because we know, this we don't get, This we
don't ever get this feeling that, much so so enjoy
for all The San diego. Fans and, man it's gonna
be if it all lines, up it's gonna be so
much fall fun this.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Fall you know, Me, Craig i'm a fan of this.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
City like, AGAIN i can say a lot leaving CITs
with soccer teams BECAUSE i cover it's it's, weird But
San diego is WHAT i WHAT i cheer for the.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
CITY i, remember you're very familiar with.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
This whenever there's one playoff, team JUST i LIKE Am
Radio sports Stock, radio AND i you, KNOW i grew
up on. It it was such a good time when
one team more than Playoffs and, okay.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
That's the entire three, hour four hour block of that.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Day that's what we're gonna ahead and talk about the
other team that's not doing so well because they're not in, playoffs.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Whether that Be, chargers whether that Be pouderi's, whatever like
we'll just ignore.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Them but here's but there was a magical time Where
padres And chargers were in that like the special feeling
of like What Mayor Jerry sanders said that In San,
Diego podre's day on A friday and everybody gets to wear.
It all the buses say Go, podres say go, this
like all those little things are coming up For San
(26:58):
diego And i'm not you, KNOW i hope everybody's prepared
and mentally prepared to go through that too in a positive,
way because it's gonna it's gonna require. Everybody it's going
to require the city to be behind these teams.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
And not just one all of. Them and and that's
that's the.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
Case if you really want to See San diego held

Box let's just eat that.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Microphone back, then, though The Powder blue ran the city
and The padres were kind of, like, well that's. Interesting
now The padres run the city and FOR, sdfc they're
in that second seat of, like, hey we're good, Too.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
Like we're really.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Good we could win The Supporter, shield we could win The,
west we could WIN Mls.
Speaker 2 (28:34):

voice of The. Supporter, like, now let's get into the executive.
Council we are very excited to welcome out of the
show for the first, time The vice president of From TERRA,
Sd vanessa b.

Speaker 6 (29:34):
Here, Welcome, Hello thank you for having. Me super.
Speaker 7 (29:39):
Excited But i'm gonna, Say kat Knock brandon man so,
cool such a cool.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
Guy never would never actually he likes. It, Yeah, NO
i mean it's just you, know it's part of the.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
DEAL i, mean we if we tweet him too, seriously
then he's lost his, power you. Know What i'm, saying,
like you gotta have that edge scarf wall on, POINT
i just want to, say your scarf wall is. Sick
there was a time DURING covid THAT i turned the
wall of my son's room into a scarf wall WHEN
i was doing all like zoom shows and zoom, calls
(30:18):
and my wife made me take it. Down SO i
just truly appreciate the visual spectacle you provided to our viewers.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Today, YEAH i gotta.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
Give it to my.
Speaker 7 (30:28):
Husband he's the one that put it up, there and
he's very proud of, it AND i JUST i get
to use it as my.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
Backdrop so.
Speaker 1 (30:36):
Amazing well let's get into, It, vanessa thank you for being.
Here we Do voice of The supporters because we want
to create a lot more understanding from the casual fan
for what does it mean to be a supporter and
what is it like to be A San DIEGO fc.
Supporter so let's just start things on the on the base,
level like what's your origin?
Speaker 2 (30:54):
Story what got you into supporter.
Speaker 6 (30:57):
Culture i'm gonna have.
Speaker 7 (30:59):
To say, family, grandpa going back to watching all The legameki's,
games like it was a spectacle in our, house especially
if you had That America Versus chievas.
Speaker 6 (31:11):
Game it.
Speaker 7 (31:11):
Was it turned into a whole. Barbecue it turned into
some bantering between uncles and just the kids watching everything
kind of unfold and watching the excitement in their eyes
and the.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
Game and THEN i MEAN i played.
Speaker 7 (31:25):
Myself it became a family, theme watching cousins do travel,
teams myself, playing and, yeah it just it grew from.
Speaker 2 (31:34):
THERE i love.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
That and by the, way which which team went And
mexico or like just, general you have A.
Speaker 6 (31:45):
I am a Diehard chievus.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
Fan, okay just making sure, great, Awesome alex take it.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
Away yeah that's The, yeah that's the correct.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
CHOICE i love.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
It so now from, there to hear your your you
got into support a.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Culture but was it?
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Loyal was it like what was your entry point here
In San diego to then become part of the genesis
of what becomes From.
Speaker 7 (32:13):
Terrasty my young my oldest kid actually got into wanting
to play, soccer and we started going to loyal games
and then the moment that the waves started, going we
went To terrero and watched all those, games and then
(32:33):
it went to S. Dfc we went to the announcement
of the team and everything kind of just spiraled from.
There BUT i definitely will say attending the the games
At toerero and giving you that small feel and the
just closeness to the players really just made the love
for me to kind of it reignited. IT i went
(32:54):
from moving away from my family and it reignited the
passion watching those.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
Games AND i, Mean i've seen you in these.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Events i've seen you from THEA sd, events and you,
know whether it's tifol, painting whether it's just getting out
there and being on the face of, it whether it's you,
know going in and and being part of the opening
ceremonies of of the of sdfc's. Games what what have
you noticed in terms of just like the growth of
from THEA sd. Itself have you been surprised with how
(33:24):
everything's come? Together like where where is the group and
yourself at with that?
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Process?
Speaker 7 (33:29):
Surprised note because the passion That San diego has it's.
Unmatched you going, IN i knew it was going to be.
INTENSE i knew there was going to be something where
people who aren't even you, know necessarily born In San
diego come in with such intense passion for the. Game
and because that's just what our community, is SO i
(33:52):
expect to see the community to keep. GROWING i know
that not a lot of people might have understood what
the culture. Was so that's, why you, know first year
we've done an amazing. Job the all the different as
gee's have done an amazing job coming together to be
under the union.
Speaker 6 (34:09):
Umbrella BUT i can see. MORE i can see more
from the. Community and you, know.
Speaker 5 (34:16):
With that, said like how how do you feel like
the community has responded with like supporter? Culture this is
like really their first time being at a first division.
Club it's, Growing we're getting a lot more. Fans like
how how do you feel like the response has been
from casal? Fans diear fans like being a part of
(34:37):
the support. Culture but but or or they or do
they prefer just being up in the?
Speaker 7 (34:43):
STANDS i think that can be answered by just watching
the stands with the thunderclap like.
Speaker 6 (34:50):
That that's that's all you need to.
Speaker 7 (34:51):
Watch it's it started as something that we started doing
in in the group and just and you, know and
then it just you hear the echo author of the
stadium now like, yeah you can be a casual, fan
but you know when that time, comes like you're in
it the. Cheering you, know there's songs that are catchy
(35:11):
and and people you when you're When i'm walking around
in the supporter section in the north, END i go
up to the top and you can hear the echo
of the songs around the.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Stadium that's beautiful and supporting is so much. Fun and people,
SOMETIMES i, think especially from the, outside they're, like, well,
yeah those guys and gals they're having a, party you,
know and and we're even, singing so you, KNOW i,
mean it's not it's not not. True we are having
(35:42):
a party and it's a great. Time but there's a
lot of hard work that goes into creating the, atmosphere the,
logistics the presentation to allow a supporters group to, click
and that means. Volunteerism that means folks that have to
step up into leadership. Roles obviously you're one of those, People.
(36:03):
Vanessa what attracted you to that in, Particular, WELL i.
Speaker 7 (36:09):
MEAN i started in with just doing helping with communications
within riptides my supporters, group and because communications is WHAT
i do for a, living and wanting to help build on.
Speaker 6 (36:23):
That because we took seven different.
Speaker 7 (36:27):
Identities you, KNOW hsg has their identity that they love
that they hone and finding a way to help communicate
through those channels has definitely been a, challenge but it's
something that we're working the kinks out and it's getting
better every.
Speaker 6 (36:43):
Day and.
Speaker 7 (36:46):
When an opportunity arose THAT i could step into, leadership
it was actually my supporters group that was, like you
should do. It you, know we encourage you to do
this because you have such a passion for building the
communication between the groups that it's something that we really
need to focus on because that's an internal thing that's
(37:09):
really gonna display externally when it comes down to.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
It, YEAH i, mean and, again just thank you as San,
diego who is Witnessing San diego be represented in such
a fantastic, way whether it's In, snapdragon whether it's a.
Way BUT i, know AND i know you're gonna meet
up With alex over.
Speaker 2 (37:31):
Here but just the traveling, ASPECT.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
I saw that there's a check that's going on with
all the games. Left that's actually HOW i found out
that the season's almost, Over like there's not a lot
of checks.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Left, No, no we don't got that many.
Speaker 7 (37:44):
Left TRAVELING i, mean with my, schedules traveling was just
a galaxy game and Then i'm going To San jose this.
WEEKEND i will have to say that none of this
can be done without the, team without the without executive.
Board you, Know i'm going to give a shout out
To Steve cabrera here, because to be, honest he handles
(38:06):
those logistics and you, Know i'm in the meetings and
help with the, meetings but don't tell.
Speaker 6 (38:10):
Him i'm gonna go ahead and take credit from.
Speaker 7 (38:12):
Him but but, No, Steve steve is definitely one That
I've i've got to, say not only organizes talking to
like bus, companies but also making sure the groups are
a where yeah That, tony and also like tickets he,
had he talks to the ticket reps and from, there you,
(38:35):
know there's a few of us that help with distributing
the tickets depending on how many there. Are but this
is absolutely a team.
Speaker 5 (38:42):
Effort so this is gonna be your second away. Match
you're going up To San, jose a Place i'm very familiar.
With are you familiar with With San? Jose and you, know,
what what what do you what type of crowd are you?
Expecting it kind of seems like that section is going
to be filled up with a bunch Of San diego.
Speaker 4 (39:04):
FANS i feel.
Speaker 5 (39:05):
Like our voices are going to be heard and it's
going to be loud in that. Building, like what are
you expecting out of A ufc and from.
Speaker 7 (39:14):
Data, WELL i, mean there's gonna be one hundred plus
of us as traveling up as, Supporters like in the whole.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
GROUP i am very familiar From San.
Speaker 7 (39:25):
JOSE i was born and raised in The Bay, area
AND i will be seeing a lot of my friends
who Support San, jose so that'll be.
Speaker 6 (39:35):
Fun but, YEAH i mean WHAT i expect is for.
Speaker 7 (39:41):
Both, sides for supporters and the team to be giving.
It they're all that's a promise we made since day
one when lose good, Bad, like we're there both.
Speaker 1 (39:49):
Sides, vanessa what do you look at in this first?
Year the growth has been. Spectacular The purple lot is.
AMAZING i think the sound is becoming a, reputation. Right
you know when you watch The APPLE tv, matches the
commentators are pretty regularly now going, Like, okay these folks
(40:11):
come for, Real like this is. Real we go around the,
country we hear. It you, Know San diego, Fit San diego.
Belongs so what do you see as the challenges For FRONTERRA.
SD i mean there have been hiccups along the, way
there always will, Be there always. Are but what do
you personally see as the challenges within leadership for the
continuing growth and?
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Success, YEAH i.
Speaker 7 (40:33):
Mean again it's it's making sure that each INDIVIDUAL sg
maintains their own identity even within fromt.
Speaker 6 (40:43):
Data you, know we're we're building to.
Speaker 7 (40:47):
Make a union a whole identity for us as, ourselves
but we don't want any of those groups to lose
them their own identity along the. Way so that the
challenge is really again working on, communication making sure that
we're taking bits and pieces of all these different esgs
to build into the union so that you.
Speaker 6 (41:09):
Know want to make sure that everybody's.
Speaker 7 (41:11):
Supported so there's challenges with making sure we don't take you,
know too much of one not enough of the. Other
so finding the. Balance AND i mean all these groups
and their leaderships have been. Great the compromises that we,
have you, know behind closed doors where we've got to
give a.
Speaker 6 (41:29):
Little to get a. Little it's really it's coming.
Speaker 2 (41:31):
Together, YEAH i mean it takes a, Village, Greg you're, sorry,
no absolutely finishing. UP i was going.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
To say that, again LIKE i welcome everybody into having
a great, conversation even if you're not part of the.
Section if you want to find out what's going on in,
there talk to. Them they're people and and much in
that same, Way i'll always advocate for the other. Way
if there's somebody within the group that wants, something that sees,
something sees an opportunity that maybe the, club the, state
(42:04):
whoever maybe can be.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
Adjusted use that.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
Voice it's not just for, singing like use it because
this is ground zero for. Everything there's still an opportunity
to mold how you want San diego, represented And, vanessa
you and from That San diego are doing a fantastic
job of really making sure That San diego is being put.
Forward and again that's Why i'm a member of The
Independence independence of. IT i love, that LIKE i support
(42:28):
that and incredible stuff that you guys have going.
Speaker 2 (42:31):
There and it's not. Easy it's not.
Speaker 7 (42:32):
Easy, Yeah, no we're definitely emphasizing the aspect of. Partnership
we are our own, thing but you can't make anything
happen on your. Own so there's definitely a lot of
partnerships that we are building within. Ourselves even with the.
Team you, know there's. Good we're going to push back on,
Them they're going to push back on. Us we're going
(42:54):
to have to meet in the, middle and that's what it,
is a, partnership but we still take our individuality very.
Speaker 1 (43:00):
Seriously, Well, VANESSA i look forward to seeing you out
at The Purple lot and in The North end when
we get back together in a couple of. Weekends AND
i wish you a safe travels and a ton of
fun this weekend up In San.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
JOSE i WISH i could be. There alex will be.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
THERE i hope the two of you can collide at
some point along the way up in the supporters. Section
BUT i really appreciate you kind of giving us a
little bit behind the, scenes a little bit into the,
growth the, groundwork the hard work that's being put into
what everybody sees on match days in the supporter.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
Section really appreciate your.
Speaker 6 (43:38):
Time thank you all really appreciate.
Speaker 4 (43:40):
This thank you, well it's our.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
Pleasure, yeah we do this honestly to elevate what's going
on with, Supporters so thank you the work you. Do
all we're trying to do is just shine a little,
light And i'm glad we can do that.
Speaker 7 (43:53):
Part remember it's always. Teamwork that's the only way we're
making the.
Speaker 2 (43:57):
Work time you see, Me i'll be wearing a wag
in a silly. Suit take, CARE i.
Speaker 6 (44:03):
Will see, them my.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
Guys oh good, stuff.
Speaker 2 (44:09):
Guys, yeah that's that's what it's. About and and, again LIKE.
Speaker 3 (44:16):
I may be a grouch of cynic however you want
to say, it but like at the end of the,
DAY i look at the people in the section AND
i love going over and me, like, hey, guys you
guys are doing good like you guys are you guys
are doing good out?
Speaker 2 (44:28):
There OR i also like to be the coaching part of.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Like a canny coos who's put some uh, like see,
guys like they're pretty. Loud but that's not a complaint
THAT i THAT i would have had or heard anybody,
have because they from that put s THE lafc and
thirteen fifty two in their place very.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
Well yes they. DID i thought you were about to say.
That before The galaxy, match he told them that they
needed to belt it out.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
More and then.
Speaker 3 (44:55):
Oh, no, no actually wait for THEN i was, like, hey,
guy just be, careful.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Like, literally LIKE i tell my, kids, guys just just
be careful and make good. Decisions that's that's all we
need from. EVERYBODY i key Thike, thi keith.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
NO i was, great wonderful to hear From vanessa and
hope to continue to hear from leadership and from the
various supporters groups as we continue to roll forward toward
the playoffs and incoming months and incoming years of The. Chromaniacs,
okay let's get To. Sunday let's get TO sdfc And
San jose And. Alex you wrote a beautiful post In
(45:32):
CHROMATIC fc about how your time living In San jose
was kind of like your birth as a soccer fan
and as a fan that REALIZED mls could be something.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
Exciting, yeah that's.
Speaker 5 (45:47):
True and, yeah when WHEN i first moved, up there.
Speaker 4 (45:52):
Was very much a casual.
Speaker 5 (45:53):
Fan you, KNOW i could easily SAY i was watching you,
KNOW i was really going For mexico and that's, it
and WAS i paying attention to achieve as very very
casually because.
Speaker 4 (46:05):
My mom would be the one.
Speaker 5 (46:07):
Watching she would be making our, tortas you, know watching
the game really really, carefully and then she would be, like, oh, Goal, tchito,
Goal balilo. Goal you, know she would be like all
into it And i'm, like oh, yeah, cool. Cool and
then but when WHEN i got To, santasa what she
would do was she would text me and she still
(46:29):
does this this. Day she will text me the score
even THOUGH i watched OR i didn't. Watch she will
text me the score anytime they. Win so, yeah whenever
they play this, weekend, YEAH i will get a text message.
Speaker 4 (46:43):
They better win or ELSE i don't get that text.
Speaker 5 (46:45):
Message but, yeah twenty, fifteen at twenty, seven and then
into twenty, seventeen it was interesting because.
Speaker 4 (46:52):
Yeah that was that was an interesting time For San diego.
Speaker 5 (46:55):
Sports soccer city was being talked, about and that was
MY i kind of wake up call of, like you know,
WHAT i should start getting into, this and SO i.
Did it's first started by going To San Jose earthquakes
VERSUS Fc dallas, game a game that ended up neil
(47:16):
one to. One The San Jose earthquakes ended up scoring
a late goal to knot it, up AND i was, like, oh,
okay that's. INTERESTING i didn't that didn't return me like a,
draw did not to turn me as an interested.
Speaker 4 (47:32):
FAN i was, like, okay that was.
Speaker 5 (47:34):
Cool but then it really got a little bit more
serious WHEN i went to Decision, day twenty Seventeen San
Jose earthquakes needed to get three points to advance to
get into the last and final playoff. Spot they had
to get three. Points one point wasn't going to be good.
(47:55):
Enough they were Playing Minnesota. United our friend from The
San diegal Loyal Colin martin was, there he was on the.
Bench and our good pal and Of All, goody twenty
six year Old ann Of All goody was playing in this.
Match so that's how far me And goodoy go. Back
we go back from my time In San, jose and
(48:17):
that was a heck of a. Match a MATCH i
don't think anyone will forget in that stadium because leading
up to that that, Moment Evaya stadium was very. New
it was it opened in twenty. Fifteen they really didn't
have a lot to cheer about in that. Stadium the
twenty Seventeen earthquakes for very mid but what they had
(48:38):
going for. Them they were called The sandy The San
Jose goonies because The goonies never say. Die they were
back to that style of, like hey we're going to
score a last second, Goal we're just never going to give.
Up AND i think that's what the bands really, like you,
know got to and like really hung their hat. To
(48:59):
so going into this, MATCH i kind of knew. That and,
yeah it started off really good For San. Jose they
scored scored a, goal but Then minnesota answered back second,
half scored a.
Speaker 4 (49:11):
GOAL i felt.
Speaker 5 (49:11):
COMFORTABLE i remember being, That, oh, OKAY i think we're
gonna win, this and Then minnesota scored in the eighty
first minute and the place went dead, silent and, yeah
it felt like the air was sucked out of that.
Place everybody was like it took a while for the
drums to start banging. AGAIN i think it took like
(49:33):
two three minutes went, by and then it started going
from The San Jose ultras and Then Marko arnya and
stoppage time scores the late winner and sends the place
into a frenzy and, Like i'll never forget that. Moment
and that's pretty much the Reason i'm here today writing ABOUT,
(49:54):
mls talking to you guys ABOUT mls because ever since that,
MOMENT i started really being as more serious soccer.
Speaker 4 (50:01):
Fan so if anyone wants more.
Speaker 5 (50:04):
Details of that, moment go to substack and read all about.
It CHROMATIC fc on, substack WHERE i have this, story
AND i hope to share another story AS i go
up up up north In San. JOSE i Think i'm
gonna do a little away days type of profile and
(50:26):
talk about the, stadium you, know the supporter, section what
what what we were doing in the in the, stadium you,
know getting that feel for.
Speaker 4 (50:36):
For an away day.
Speaker 5 (50:37):
Match So i'm very excited to write about that when
ONCE i get. Home but, yeah and this is Why i'm,
here that that, moment that that Mark arena goal and
here we are talking ABOUT mls In San.
Speaker 1 (50:54):
Diego, yeah, well you put so many food recks in
that post THAT i, mean obviously you're gonna have a
great eating. Weekend you made me want to go just
so they could trail you around and get the breakfast
burritos and get all of the other culinary darlights and
the tap room that's close to the, stadium et, cetera et.
(51:14):
Cetera but let's talk about the match. Itself we haven't seen,
earthquakes So I'm i'm a wide, open blank. Slate what
DO i need to know about earthquakes On sunday night?
Speaker 5 (51:29):
Soccer and that they've been a pretty good home team
as of, late they've gotten a result they.
Speaker 4 (51:42):
GOT i would say they got a little lucky last
week Against.
Speaker 5 (51:45):
Vancouver they got a, penalty they got a red, card
someone In vancouver got a red. Card they were, Down
vancouver was down a, man so Advantage San. Jose they
ended up winning that. Match but, yeah they they've been
getting a lot of results as of, late seven straight
results for.
Speaker 4 (52:04):
Them so, Way i'm.
Speaker 3 (52:06):
Sorry but it had to do with an investigation into a.
Speaker 2 (52:10):
REFEREE.
Speaker 4 (52:10):
Grg, like, yeah they did, Lucky like you say.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
Lucky, no, no, no, No like there's an investigation into a
referee into his love FOR lafc and whether or not
he screwed Over.
Speaker 5 (52:20):
Vancouver, sorry but, yeah it's more of his hatred Towards. Vancouver,
Yeah like it kind of seems like he has a
thing with This vancouver team that he doesn't like them very.
Speaker 4 (52:32):
Much but, yeah they he.
Speaker 5 (52:34):
Got you, know things happen and everything Went San jose's
way last. Week but when it came when it comes
to this team and who the key players, Are Christian
espinoza is one of.
Speaker 4 (52:47):
Them we saw him in the in The All Star.
Speaker 5 (52:49):
Game he is their midfielder and everything kind of goes
through him and. Yeah he he is pretty The he's
the shot, creator the goal, creator and, man he can
really get it out out to those. Places he loves
getting those crosses in the penalty area and, man, yeah
(53:10):
that's part of their game is they're going to try
to score in many different. Ways it's going to be
across from the, wing it's gonna be a set. Piece
they have the third most set pieces goals in in
in the in the, league so they can score in
very many different. Ways they don't need possession to, score
(53:32):
so that that's gonna be very Much the key for
them is Can Christian espinosa get the ball and create
and create those opportunities for the other guys in The Intan.
Speaker 2 (53:43):
Jose.
Speaker 3 (53:47):
IF i want to give historical context to, this WHEN
i was growing up and playing soccer to a degree
WHERE i THOUGHT i was.
Speaker 2 (53:53):
Gonna make, it.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
There was no team other THAN La galaxy In. California
The San Jose earthquakes were that team that you would
have to remind yourself that, existed and so as A
california you'd be, like, well there's no future in, Playing
but The San Jose earthquakes were always that team that
(54:17):
people with a chip on their, shoulder would go into
the academy and play because they had something to. Prove
because the blue bloods In La galaxy would never allow
this type of. Player they would never allow the scrappiness
of a. Player they prefer elegance or regalness to their
to their play. Style they want to get the superstars
because They're La. Galaxy what are we talking. About we
(54:38):
are the Real MADRID. Mls This San jose, Earthquake no, no,
no like that's that's the trash pile of players that
we just, rejected and they can go ahead and go.
There one of, Them, judd last Name, judd is one
of the players That craig AND i are familiar with
because he was part of Those dose that was a
constant menace for Against San, diego, loyal part of the
(55:00):
Lows dose.
Speaker 2 (55:01):
Track now he's not In La.
Speaker 3 (55:02):
Galaxy now he's a chip on the shoulder player who
scored last week For San. Jose and so again just
the historical context of, this where like this is a scrappy,
Team this is a team that comes in with a
chip on their, shoulder with something to prove every single.
Time and now there not only is there a Third california.
Team there's a Fourth california, team and they are the
(55:25):
ones that are on top of The Western.
Speaker 2 (55:27):
Conference they are the top of the.
Speaker 3 (55:28):
Town we're getting overlooked, Again we're getting again like this
is this is heca Versus hella type of.
Speaker 2 (55:36):
Discussions are you privy to?
Speaker 3 (55:37):
That, YEAH i mean just making just making SURE i think,
so just doing, it ensuring.
Speaker 2 (55:43):
There but hella, bigger, right better than. HECKA i, think,
yeah that's the correct. One if you say hecka to,
me you'll they'll tell me a lot about. You, ACTUALLY
i don't Think i've ever said that in my.
Speaker 3 (55:55):
Life it's more cumbersome to put A k instead of AN.
L i'm, sorry but, yeah that's kind of like. This
this is a team that's a scrappy and they're going
to find and find a way to to to really
put a put a cold water On SANDIO.
Speaker 5 (56:11):
Fc and you, know to add on top of, that,
right like they're they're very much on the we want
the homegrown players type of type of, system. Right they
want to develop and bring their guys into the. Academy
they've been doing it ever SINCE i was. THERE i
Remember Tommy thompson being, there like being their their homegrown
player and coming through the.
Speaker 4 (56:31):
System when you.
Speaker 5 (56:32):
Look at guys Like Kay cowell who is now At,
tivas but he was also that guy that came through the.
Speaker 4 (56:37):
System now we have.
Speaker 5 (56:40):
Them Oscar verejhoven also another guy that came through the
system and he's a local. Kid, yeah these guys are
that's that's what they, do and that's what we want to.
Do we want to have that type of. Development get
the guys from Yes escondido To Tilla. Vista we can
even get guys down To tijuana and get them through
(57:03):
The right To dream system and make it The San
diego system.
Speaker 4 (57:06):
Pipeline and if we can do.
Speaker 5 (57:08):
That, WELL i THINK i think we're gonna almost resemble
What San jose was able to do back in the
early two, thousands which was wain championships and be the
dominant force in THE.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
Mls all, right let's play pin the tail on the.
Speaker 1 (57:25):
Nine who Does vares call to start at the Nine sunday?
Speaker 2 (57:30):
Evening M m.
Speaker 4 (57:32):
Man that's always a good.
Speaker 3 (57:35):
Question, unfortunately, right like that shouldn't be a, Question like
it's the ninth position we're talking. About you have a
nine in the bench that will probably stay on the
bench with the mass, angkele but pin the tail on the.
Nine do we Throw Honors dryer down the middle once
again and see What baird has to.
Speaker 2 (57:52):
Offer do we Throw valacai in. THERE i don't, Know,
alex who do you?
Speaker 5 (57:59):
THINK i think what worked last week can work this?
Week but they have to kind of mimic it and
do it again and and get Get dryer and And
alassano the ball as much as, possible and you kind
of it's almost, like, well you kind of just need
(58:20):
a knight a false nine at that point where where it's, Like,
okay just get them the.
Speaker 4 (58:25):
Ball you don't don't you don't need to score.
Speaker 5 (58:27):
Because IF i don't feel comfortable putting up there, anymore
if you're just gonna get in the, way and If
valakaria can distribute the ball a little bit, better then
that that's WHAT i.
Speaker 1 (58:37):
Want my guess Is valacari gets another start And baird
is a sub in that leads to a position switch up,
top And baird gets on the pitch Against San, jose
while Maybe dryer tucks in at that. Point, uh they
probably don't just Run bird up the. Middle But i'm Guessing,
(58:58):
Valakari but they could do the same thing with On
hell if they didn't Rate valakari's tape that highly From Sporting,
casey they could do the same thing and throw On
hell for sixty to seventy five, minutes let him be
a dirty work, player and then sub in. Baired you,
know depending on game and. Circumstance vasquez would be. INTERESTING
(59:19):
i don't see it. Happening they started him at, midfield
and then the question is Is invartsen in the lineup On.
Sunday obviously he won't start because they are pretty well
patterned in terms of when they're bringing people back from,
injury seventy fifth, minutes sixtieth, minute then a sixty minute,
start then you're allowed to be considered for full. Run
(59:42):
so do we think we see in Varts in for
fifteen minutes On? SUNDAY i believe we.
Speaker 3 (59:48):
Do, Yeah, mike you to help it in pointing out, that,
yeah he's been ready to, go he's been, training AND
i think even last game it was a matter of
do we really need In varsen to get a, result
whether that be a tie or a. VICTORY i don't
think it ever came to hey Break inbariston in case of.
EMERGENCY i don't think it even came to Break baird
(01:00:08):
in case of, emergency and that was a very well
managed game By mikey bodist that in that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:12):
Term SO i think we'll see In barston at least
for a little.
Speaker 4 (01:00:14):
Bit AND i agree With.
Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
CRAIG i, think, yeah we do see In BARTSON lb
for a little. Bit But Baird bird's ready to. Go
he's been, playing you, know With. Cincinnati he's in. Shape
it's it's not A Padro sama, situation who came over
From europe and really hasn't had a lot of. Training so,
(01:00:37):
Yeah baird's ready to. Go i'm ready to see. Him
so hopefully we get to see. Him and and by the,
Way i'd be disappointed if this game ends in a
nil nil draw because.
Speaker 4 (01:00:49):
There's no there's no way with these two.
Speaker 5 (01:00:52):
Offenses you got the first and second teams in The
Western conference that have like the most. Goals there should
be goals This if you want, goals there's going to
be goals in this.
Speaker 4 (01:01:03):
Game and it ends up in a, nil no, Draw
i'm going to be so.
Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
Disappointed, yeah let's let's, say, uh let's say two to. One.
Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
Us, HUH i think it's a.
Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
Help, yeah would that be?
Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
Incredible six straight road? Winds is that being?
Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
Presumptuous SHOULD i just say to, too just because we've
won five in a row? Away can we really make it?
Six that's?
Speaker 5 (01:01:28):
Insane, NO i mean there's a good, case you, know
to have that you can Defeat San josiah at their.
Place the, big the biggest thing is you can't make a,
mistake and you can't make a mistake on in your
side of the, pitch in your penalty area or else
they will.
Speaker 4 (01:01:48):
Execute this isn't going to be A Kansas city.
Speaker 5 (01:01:50):
Situation they know how to finish and when it comes
to set, pieces they're one of the.
Speaker 4 (01:01:55):
Best they can't convert those two.
Speaker 5 (01:01:57):
Goals so if you allow free kick outside the penalty, area,
like that's gonna be a dangerous, situation even a corner.
Speaker 4 (01:02:03):
KICK i, mean you THE i think this is where
you've got to play.
Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
Smart you gotta, Know, yeah you can't make a mistake
around that back, line and, yeah you gotta. Be you
gotta show up and play a Be it's got to
be another solid performance from the back line.
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
There Danyego wave play In PayPal park the day. Before mm.
Speaker 3 (01:02:26):
Hmm SO i mean if there's, yeah, no it's a
it's a it's a full On bay invasion Of San.
Diego So i'm not sure if that has anything to
do with in terms of just like playing. SURFACE i,
know whenever it comes to snap, track and that's something
that always puts into, question like that turnaround of aase
the playing surface gonna.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
Be, fine can bog things down if you've got a choppy.
Speaker 5 (01:02:50):
Pitch, okay, yeah, exactly that's very.
Speaker 3 (01:02:54):
True SO i don't know if that's gonna be a,
factor you, Know and also looking at just the.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
Schedu, right this is the.
Speaker 3 (01:03:02):
Second to last team That San DIEGO fa will face
for the first, time uh in The Western.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
Conference portland is the one.
Speaker 3 (01:03:09):
After so if you're gonna go with a LINEUP, sat
he goes up, TOP i can definitely see then the
other option OPTION b being the starters for The San jose.
Game But Mikey badis did say that he's finally honing
in on his starting eleven.
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Finally okay really.
Speaker 3 (01:03:30):
Yeah that that's from From Mikey badas he, said as
this as the season starts winding, Down i'm going to
start getting my starting eleven prepared for?
Speaker 1 (01:03:40):
Playoffs, okay NOW i understand he's saying there is a
starting eleven out there and he can see it in
his mind's.
Speaker 2 (01:03:48):
Eye, correct but he we we're not putting it out there. Yet,
no not.
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
Yet now there is still in theory on, paper there
is still the best version Of San diego that anybody
has yet to.
Speaker 5 (01:04:01):
See does that include a new transfer player in? It
because we were still we still got a week? Away
It does that include another another couple of?
Speaker 2 (01:04:14):
Players is there one to? Two we're supposed to were
promised one to? Two?
Speaker 3 (01:04:19):
YEAH i THINK i think one is where you should
kind of be a little bit more prepared. For even,
then just historically from this transfer, window did.
Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
Really Think vazquez was going to be you know who we?
Got Or?
Speaker 3 (01:04:32):
Soma like these again these, names there was one name
that was interesting just being floated, around just like, hey
maybe they wouldn't that be? Cool in terms of just
like THAT us men's national team rehabilitation program THAT i
keep talking, About You, arena.
Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
G You, Arena? YEAH i, Heard, well wasn't the rumor
he was going to go to L? A?
Speaker 1 (01:04:52):
Yeah but if you want to go, THERE a bunch of.
Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
Losers let's go to a winning. Team so, yeah JUST.
Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
I heard the same THING i, heard, like, yeah you,
Know RAN i was looking to come back to.
Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
Them we trade delatory for. Him can we just do
a swamp, sorry.
Speaker 4 (01:05:10):
A swap OF Us men's, Next.
Speaker 1 (01:05:14):
Luca you've been a little bit. Disappointing let's see What
geo can bring. In, hey that's. Exciting all. Right so
we're working toward a starting, eleven but it's not there.
Yet really excited for this, Match, alex you will be,
there SO i don't. Know Maybe tony AND i can
do a post match. Show, yeah, yeah No.
Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
Sunday yeah, Again i'm just, like, oh that's. Try It's.
Sunday but, yes you should be able to.
Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
Shoot, well we'll talk about. It we'll talk ABOUT i.
DID i kind of thought the match Was. SATURDAY i
should have checked the. SCHEDULE i, KNOW i, KNOW i
may have committed to Something sunday THAT.
Speaker 2 (01:05:59):
I could back out.
Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
It but, regardless, regardless that's not for the. Show for the,
show let's just wrap things. Up we don't really do
predictions around.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
Here that's not Our.
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
Cromaniacs style is for everyone to throw scores on a
scoreboard and us make fun of it. Later, nah nah,
Nah i'm not into.
Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
It i'm not into. IT i just feel good about.
Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
This i'm, excited BUT i do have a tiny little
trappy feeling in my mind of five straight road.
Speaker 2 (01:06:29):
Winds we're just.
Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
Cruising it's been such smooth. Sailing usually bumps occur on the,
road something, bumpy like falling, behind Like.
Speaker 2 (01:06:41):
I've got a.
Speaker 1 (01:06:42):
Sleep we fall, behind and then what feeling To sunday
and then, like now do you have? It do you
have it in you to come from behind on the.
Road it's one thing to take the first goal and
then to bunk her. In it's another thing to fall
behind and take a result in the.
Speaker 2 (01:06:57):
Road can you do? That if You're San diego one
way or.
Speaker 1 (01:07:01):
