Speaker 1 (00:32):
Welcome to the Chromaniacs postgame show.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Everybody, as San Diego FC takes down one of the
best clubs in MLS a one nothing final result.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
We thought it was too nothing. Honors Bryer thought it
was too nothing. The fireworks guy thought it was too nothing.
The PA guy thought it was too nothing. One nothing
our final sport. I'm Craig Elston, Alex Pania joining us
right now.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Tony Sanchez is still at Snapdragon Stadium. He is watching
remotely right now, waiting for Chucky Lozano's press conference, and
then we'll join us and he'll deliver some sound michibatas
and I'm assuming Andrew's ryer.

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Maybe Chucky will find out.

Speaker 2 (01:16):
In the interim, Alex and I have a chance to
chat about this remarkable result.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
What's happened in fretheriwild Man.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I'm feeling good.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
I'm feeling good, and I just wish I had a
Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich right in front of me, because
we crushed them just like I would be crushing Nashville
Hot Chicken samwich right now.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Wow, that is that's I'm with you. I mean, I
got a taco on the way home.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
If I was thinking, like you were thinking, I would
have stopped for some hot chicken though that's good stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
SDFC is a very young club in the back.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
They're a club that is relying on a couple of
dps and you know, I read a story earlier this
week on ESPN dot com and and they're top Soccer
writer just about how much variance there is in MLS
in terms of what you get from your DP and
how important it is in terms of the guys you

(02:20):
give the big money to. Did they give you production
and lead to wins or did they give you a
little production and no wins? Or like Toronto FC, did
they just do nothing and you wind up just letting
them go.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
How lucky has SDFC been.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
So far this year, Alex with the way the Dryer
and Lozano have both played at an MVP level.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Yeah, Tyler Heaps absolutely nailed the designated player selections that
he got first with Trucky and and then with.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Unders Dryer because they contribute.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
It seems like they're contributing every night that's Indy UFC play.
It's either one or the other, or it's both. And
we're so fortunate that we were seeing.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
This play out on.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
A every night basis. In Yeah, I mean we saw
this with LAFC. You know, I hate to keep bringing
him up, but Olivia rude.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
He was a designate.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Player for LAFC last year and that did not work
out for them, right, And sometimes it just doesn't work out.
You bring them in, you give them a ton of
money to come in from Europe or Mexico or wherever
they're coming from, and sometimes it just doesn't work out.
And for us, it's working out in the first season

(03:40):
of Sandy UFC.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Today's one goal is a true team up of San
Diego FC's three all Stars, and if you were hoping
to get a lot more of them in the All
Star Game, well you got him the Saturday, in the
Friday night match that mattered the most. And while absolutely
Drier had a beautiful run driving in toward the eighteen,

(04:05):
holding the defender and eventually inside of the foot, Aparton
me outside of the foot pass uh to just slot
it on over for the Lozanna one touch, right footed
goal for the loan tally. Yepe t Verskov's pass set
it all up and it's just another one of those
hockey assists that Taverse gov creates for this team.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Without that pass, that goal never happen.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, yeah, he does it again. He just he's always
central when it comes to CINUFC. He's like game plan.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
It's always going to be up to Jepe to do something.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
And this time he really.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Did assists to get the ball out there to Dryer
and for Dryer to get it to the Lozano.

Speaker 6 (04:54):
But yet he's he's.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Part of this, right, He's always going to be central
and the cog right the middle to get it all.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Going for us.

Speaker 4 (05:02):
And and again it showed up again for first in
UFC that Yepe is a key contributor.

Speaker 5 (05:11):
To this match.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
And and I'm so glad that we have him. It's
all three of those guys. And and Yepe is not
a designated player, he's just a player on the senior
on the senior roster and and and so I'm so
glad about that, and that he is such a great
mind too.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Incredible stuff for the goal.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Uh you know earlier Chooky had a great opportunity that
wound up deflected near post, good chance. And then Dryer
has the runout of the end where the referee is
signaling that the match is over as he's running down
the field, which I'm sure was the correct decision, but
just like you know, the the no fun uh but

(05:57):
correct decision. But for me as Tony Sanchez is here
as well. Hello Tony Sanchez live from snap Dragon Stadium
from the underbelly.

Speaker 7 (06:08):
It's snap Dragon Stadium, finishing up. Pike a botis post
match and love it.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
It sounds like dro is not wrapped up upstairs as well.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Concert.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Oh yeah, there we go. There's everybody up there. Love it.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
It seemed like just like watching the post match, but
it uh on TV. It seemed like every a lot
of people were staying for that.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
Diora DJ set out there and yeah, I think the
party is just getting started at snap Dragon Stadium.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
Well, hey, listen, I'd love to have stayed for the party,
but we have a show to do, you know.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Uh, And that's why we're here.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
We're live on YouTube for everyone listening later on audio
or watching later.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Your matters a lot to us. We're still a new
show for everyone live on YouTube. Hello, welcome, thank you
for being here. We're trying to do this after every match,
somewhere around an hour after the final whistle if we
can get it in and if not, you know, early
the next day, just depending on how things play.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
But keep that in mind.

Speaker 2 (07:18):
We'll always try and let you know on the main
show as well, where we're looking to lay down these
postgame shows. So we really appreciate you being there while
you're here on YouTube, if you can give us that
live like, hit that thumbs up. If you haven't subscribed
to the show yet, give us that subscription. Those are
the types of things YouTube notices to help push the
show to other SDFC fans, to other people who search

(07:38):
SDFC on YouTube.

Speaker 5 (07:40):
So on and so forth.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
So your patronage is appreciated. Question for you before we
get into a chat. Question and Tony says he'll be
along in about five minutes. Pablo cis Niega. This guy

(08:02):
is rocking it, Alex. He's he's a little wild every
once while.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
He's a little loosey, goosey.

Speaker 2 (08:08):
He wants to come off that line, he wants to
come flying out.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
But he's made some bold challenges, some really.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Brave plays and some great shots stopping as well. Pablo's
just Jega, a guy we could hang on to, maybe
keep starting.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
Yeah, you know, take him from the supplemental roster to
the senior roster for next year. I think that would
be really good for you know, keeping him, keeping him
around longer than than just next year. But yeah, he's
absolutely fearless. He is not afraid to go outside that box.

(08:46):
And he just made like it's another solid performance by
him where he just he's stopping everything that's that's coming
his way. I don't think he was challenged that that often,
but when when he was like, yeah, he he wasn't
afraid to go after the ball and make some questionable
decisions out there. And but but he he is, uh yeah,

(09:10):
he's fearless. And and it's it's amazing that we we
have Santos and Pablo and and they're both great. They're
they're they're solid, they're kind of exactly what this club
was looking for in a goalkeeper. And you got two
of these guys and and hopefully you keep them beyond

(09:33):
just next year.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
And you know, when when it comes to uh that that.

Speaker 4 (09:41):
Goalkeeper position, it's it's always great to have two of
those guys because there's always going to be more matches,
there's going to be more more, more, uh more competitions
out there, so you can like trade you know, these
guys off, so hopefully we we still see guys, we
see see a little bit more of this and yeah,
we'll have both of.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
These guys going going uh to next year.

Speaker 2 (10:06):
Well they know a match on Tuesday of course as
well in League's cups, so a perfect opportunity to rotate
and to have a guy like the Santo's come in fresh. Absolutely,
uh Tony from the press box, Now, I assume I
just recognized that aquapy.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Case.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, they didn't give us anything.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Your thoughts on the way that sdfc's defense handled Nashville
to night and the next guy was about to bring
up a mono dua. I mean, the first time we
saw him, he made a tragic pass back it led
to a goal. He got pulled at halftime. The next
time we saw him was kind of out of necessity
and he played really well and I thought he had

(10:49):
two huge clearances in the first half of this match.

Speaker 8 (10:55):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 7 (10:56):
So definitely an incredible force by a young back line
like can Mikey bought us back sat sentiment too. They're
maturing right in front of everybody's eyes and the rate
of maturity is incredible. Especially when you can look at
the youngest back line uh in MLS right now, and
it's really impressive what Mono Dua has been able to do.

(11:18):
I highlighted, we highlighted Ian Pilcher last week, but Mono
Dua this week. This flair that he brings to that
center back position is incredible. He also lights up the
crowd and then engages with the crowd, sometimes a little
to early for my liking. It's like, okay, it's a
fifty seventh minute. You know, you're not waving your hands
up and you know rather you know, maybe not yet,

(11:38):
but you know, he's he's bringing that energy and and
players are feeling it.

Speaker 8 (11:43):
So this is a very very good victory for San
Diego f C.

Speaker 7 (11:46):
And I mean very few of us thought that there
might be a victory against this very very good nationale team.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Yeah, we we go ahead and we were okay, you know,
we were slightly optimistic that you know, we get at
least a point if we played well.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
But the back line did their job.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
Man, do shut it down, seas I gotta shut it down, like, yeah,
they they did a really good job out there, and
uh yeah, I love the spirit. I love the spirit
that it brings, especially for young you know, young back
line because they're they're all you know, they're all doing
this for the first time, and it's it's great to
see like someone kind of taking that edge off, right,

(12:32):
he's waving to the crowd. He's kind of getting that
energy up for everybody, right, everybody wants to see a
guy that's confident. He is confident, just keeps growing with
each match. And yeah, he just keeps he just keeps developing.
And a credit again to Mikey Bars, to the coaching
staff to getting all these guys ready that we saw.

(12:56):
We saw like the first minutes of Pilcher. We saw
the first minutes to do a you know bombino Verhoven.
They weren't great and then yeah, with each match, it
just keeps getting better and better and better. And man,
it's uh credit to them. Credit to the players. They
know what they're doing in training and it's really showing

(13:16):
out there on the pitch.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
I see Jeremy in the chat say it because on
our last show on episode nine, we were talking about,
you know, is there.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
A ceiling for this club?

Speaker 2 (13:29):
We're so young on defense, we're bringing in more kids
were eighteen ninety a sixteen year old a nineteen year old,
you know.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
And.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
I didn't.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
I was trying to give Nashville some respect, you know,
like they I thought they were one of the best
teams in the league. Thought it might be hard. What
little did I know? This SDFC team continues to bring it.
And I'll say right off the top as well that
from Terror, Steve brought it tonight, like to a level

(14:02):
I'd never seen even before, Like it was really, really,
really rocking and with a lot of intention behind it.
Knowing that this was a big match and knowing that
it was gonna take kind of like take everyone doing everything.

Speaker 5 (14:18):
But hey, I didn't think they were gonna win this match.
I was gonna be happy if they tied it.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
Yeah, I'm not like just like I heard mikey Varda
say afterwards after the match, you know that this franchise
is built on humility.

Speaker 1 (14:38):
You know, I was being a little too humble.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
Maybe I don't know to say that I thought that
Nashville would be a really tough challenge for this young club.
But you know what, what what did I know?

Speaker 5 (14:50):
Nothing?

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Absolutely nothing.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
When Dryer and Losano team up and score, this club
is on fire and every time this young defense goes
out there and puts together scoreless has you know, and
then now today a clean cheat, first clean cheat since
May for STFC. It's it's hell of impressive. I'll tell

(15:17):
you that it's hell of impressive. I don't know if
it's for this year, next year, years to come, it's
pretty damn impressive.

Speaker 7 (15:25):
Really interesting that Chucky osign out here in the post game,
and we'll drop the full interview here. Chukie understands English perfectly,
but it still speaks and responds only in Spanish. But
he was asked like, hey, like this we're saying AUFC
is at this moment, does it surprise you at all?
And he started by saying, did you see the interviews

(15:48):
that I started with. I told you guys we were
gonna be a competitive team where we were gonna be
a really good team.

Speaker 8 (15:53):
There's good players here.

Speaker 7 (15:55):
So again it's just another one of those things where
it's it's very, very difficult to almost believe that this
is happening. And like, yeah, no, I don't think of
being negative, Craig, like at all. I think that you're
just being a smart sports fan because historically, even in soccer,
these things just don't happen, And week after week.

Speaker 8 (16:18):
San Diego C has continually been.

Speaker 7 (16:20):
Able to bounce back and and be able to regenerate
in a lot of ways where you think, oh, they're
they Willy Kamado down, I don't know what they're gonna do.

Speaker 8 (16:29):
Here's a here's a bar oven, Oh what are they
doing in the midfield?

Speaker 7 (16:33):
Anyone kind of went down for it for a second there,
But now Alexandro too, and right, yes, you're not gonna
have your all star defender, no problem.

Speaker 8 (16:41):
We got some good we got some really good kids.
We got Dryer, we got.

Speaker 7 (16:45):
A chooky and we got Captain Yeppe in the middle
just going after it.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
I don't know what the hell's going on in the chat?
What did I say? I didn't say anything. I just
said I thought it was gonna be a hard game.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Like it was.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
I mean it was. They got you want, you know,
they got they got a couple of.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Should we just take the chance, like instead of doing
a previews, should we just do the chance?

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Yo?

Speaker 5 (17:20):
Okay, we don't have to anyways. No, it's all in fun.
It's all in fun.

Speaker 4 (17:24):
Yeah, I brought you know, I brought a couple you know,
tidbits here and there about you know, they the last
time we lost in the West Coast, it was against
the Seattle and they came to the West Coast again
got their ass beat again. So that's just what what
happens when an East Coast team travels. They can get

(17:45):
here and you know what they the first half was
super solid by Sandy UFC.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
And that gave me hope.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
That gave me a lot of hope, and like, hey,
this all we have to do is just score one.

Speaker 3 (18:00):
If we score one, I think we're going to be
pretty good.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
And and yeah, I mean that's exactly what happened, because
they brought in Boating in and they brought Goodoi in
and boat Tang was tracking back GADOI was tracking back.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Yeah, that they were.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
They were playing with They kind of figured like, we
have this one goal. We got to make the most
of it. We got to play some defense and and yeah,
I mean I would have loved that that Dryer goal
to secure it, like the second goal. And for something
you mentioned, Tony, uh, you know weeks ago when we

(18:38):
first started doing this. We'll deserve beer for you on
Destroyer man, I dude, go have yourself.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
I don't know what you drink.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
If it's Carlsberg, if it's I will offer you Carl Strauss,
Red Charlie, whatever it is. Man, you you deserve it
because you gave everything on that pig Man.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
I could see how tired you were. You you were you.
You kind of gave everything you had in that last run.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
Too to try to score that sing goal. And I
felt like you deserved it. They shouldn't have blown the whistle.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Why blow the whistle? Just why It's just such a
no fun league thing to do.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
Like I guarantee you, they wouldn't do it the other way.
That's the look of a man who just got robbed
free if you're watching here on YouTube, that's the look
of a man who just got robbed of a goal
and an opportunity for more.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
Now, that's one thing we didn't talk about yet.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
Only Volakari draws a penalty absolutely could have should have
would have been a two nothing result regardless of the
erased goal.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Uh dryer got saved.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Any thoughts on this pen I mean, well earned by Volakari,
but good save and well guessed.

Speaker 8 (20:05):
Yeah, I could save well guessed. I think it could have.

Speaker 7 (20:09):
It was a little bit too casual for me, the
way it was taken, I just could have added a
little bit more location on it. It was struck well,
just power wise, but I think just a little bit more.
Not to take away anything from that safe, because it's
an incredible safe.

Speaker 8 (20:22):
Download to the bottom.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
Left, So.

Speaker 7 (20:25):
I think, you know, sometimes just give it to the goalkeepers.
They they deserve it. And you know there's there's some
you miss, some you make, and that's just one of them.

Speaker 4 (20:35):
Yeah, it looked like the goalkeeper really did his homework
because it felt like this is the similar action that
Dryer tech on the last penalty that barely it just
went in, right, It just got underneath the goalkeeper and
it went in.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
And this time, yeah, it looked like he did his homework.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
He guessed the correct way and yeah he got it.
So man credits to him. Dryer, work on those penalties, please,
because I know, I know there's gonna be more coming
up for you.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Yeah, I mean that just go to plan B.

Speaker 5 (21:13):
Right.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
He was like, I'm gonna keep tucking low right until
someone stops it.

Speaker 5 (21:17):
Okay, someone stopped it. Now shoot back to the middle.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
You know, do one of those go the other way,
push it to the push it into left side, nutting
roof one, go for it.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
I know he's got creativity and.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
I hope he gets multiple more opportunities. Alex, this was
the fourteenth win for San Diego FC.

Speaker 3 (21:35):
Correct, Yes, that's correct, and.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Three from the record, four four from the three, three
from the.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Record, three from the record, and we are eleven points
away from that the point record.

Speaker 3 (21:54):
So that's for four wins.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Yeah, if we get if we get there, so we're yeah,
we're still counting down here on Cromaniacs till we get
the record. And I saw someone mentioned we're at forty
six points. Does that mean if we're on to the playoffs?
Not not yet, we're we're we haven't officially clinched the spot,

(22:17):
but on average, you know, on the past ten ten
or so seasons, if you get to forty seven points,
it's most likely you you get a wildcard spot. Now,
when that happens, I still still feel like that's gonna
be weeks from now, probably into September, when it's officially

(22:39):
we clinched the spot, all the other teams can't catch
up to us, and we finally have one. But yeah,
that that's still weeks away from happening. And I still
believe we're on that trajectory of getting up any any
of the playoff spots.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
In for the Western Conference.

Speaker 2 (23:02):
Winning at home is a huge part of trying to
stay at the top of a table. One more thing,
and then I want to hear from mikey Varis next.
In all of you listening and watching, we'll hear from
Mikey Vartis next, Tony.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Just along those lines.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
The importance of this club after having three straight winless
at home, to get three points at home to once again,
you know, take down a top team that comes into town.
I thought on that level, from like a psychological level,
getting this victory was really important.

Speaker 7 (23:40):
Yeah, it's huge for what's come, for what's to come.
Right Like, you're now at the tail end of where
Sands are really separating from first, second, third place and
going into playoffs again.

Speaker 8 (23:51):
It's still a tight playoff race in the Western Conference.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
And while SANDIFC right now is first, they can very
easily fall into a fourth place position. And if they're
not careful, especially with the amount of depth that they
have and some of the teams that are coming up
that are honestly surprising. And I think this is about
the pleasant surprise, I guess, or just the way that
MLS is just it's very unpredictable. The parody is incredible,
and that's something that I just cannot be understated. And

(24:18):
I can't tell you necessarily what can happen in the
next couple of weeks, but what is for sure is
San Diego C is going to stick to that style
and the styles what's going to carry this team as
far as as as they'll go. And you know what, again,
we mentioned Tyler Heaps and the moves that he's making
sure it's working. It's an incredibly modular team and moving forward,
I think this is really just a confidence booster, if

(24:40):
not just for the club, just the kids, the young
players that are going up against men and really putting
them in their place and showing them, hey, you're going
to go ahead and come to San Diego FC just
snap Dragon Stadium. You're going to be put on your
place and we got a nice set of pockets ready
for you.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:59):
I think we're going to look back years from now
and like, just remember with joy this team that was
winning with a five player bench, you know, a team
that's winning with a back line of you know, three
eighteen year olds or eighteen nineteen, nineteen twenty two, I
think is how it lays out. But it's you know, uh,

(25:23):
basically four guys and three of them can be the driver,
only one can get the beer.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
You know.

Speaker 2 (25:31):
It's it's just remarkable the things that SDFC has been
able to accomplish so far this season with limitations that
other clubs do not have. They have these these limitations
and they continue to roll, and we continue to roll
on the KROMANNIAX post game show right into head coach

(25:53):
Mike E.

Speaker 5 (25:53):
Vadas.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Let's hear from the coach.

Speaker 9 (25:57):
Give Mikey you.

Speaker 10 (25:58):
Say us through the night to night and just the
performance from defense and all the way up top. And
as a coach, what does it feel to see that
play developed for the goal?

Speaker 11 (26:06):
And yeah, I think listen, we asked these guys to
go for the game. The way that you do that
is have discipline for our structure, for our game plan,
for our principles, but also to play with freedom and
to find that balance and to go for it and
to be decisive interactions.

Speaker 12 (26:24):
And I thought the team did a really good job
of that.

Speaker 11 (26:27):
That's a really really good national team, really well coached
with mature players, a really mature roster with a lot
of talent on it.

Speaker 12 (26:34):
They played very well and the guys stepped up.

Speaker 11 (26:37):
At the end of the day, you get a clean
sheet against a team that scored a ton of goals
in the league. That's massively important. You can see our
back line growing up game by game. We have fireman
actions from Pablo, from midfielders, from defenders. We have the
front three working back collectively to help defend as a team,

(26:57):
and I just think it was a really good performance.

Speaker 12 (27:01):
I think in possession we were so brave with the ball.

Speaker 11 (27:04):
We we really took them out of their their game
because they're very fast and they can they can combine
really quickly, but they couldn't they couldn't get on the
ball as.

Speaker 12 (27:14):
Much as I'm sure they would have wanted to. And
for me, I'm so.

Speaker 11 (27:18):
Proud of the group because yes, we have a talent
in the team, and yes we have a style of
play that they commit to and that helps us and
can be our competitive advantage, but this group also has
a ton of character, and a character was a massive,
massive factor in this game, and that's what makes me
so excited.

Speaker 10 (27:39):
And just follow up on that character aspect, Mine Doula
just kind of bringing the crowd and having the most
engaged with the environment as well.

Speaker 9 (27:46):
What does that mean to have a player to be
able to.

Speaker 11 (27:48):
Do that and then back it up with the play,
Because I mean the crowd is part of our team,
every single fan sitting in the stadium, especially La, I mean,
they're part of our team, They're part of our family,
and so it's not so much for me, it's it's
normal that we will engage with them because they're part
of this. And yeah, I really like that he has

(28:10):
that personality. They help us win. I'm always so thankful
for them.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
Wow, Mikey vadis just a lot of gratitude on the
mic right there for the young players on his team
coming through and for the community that is springing up.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
Abe A Beta. Good to see you, brother wave back
in action in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 13 (28:37):
Uh, you know, it just it's so nice, you know,
I don't know, I feel weird saying that, but like
he just has such like humble, grounded commentary after games
and it's it's truly refreshing.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
And if I'm the SANDIFC marketing team, I'm cutting clip
right there talking about the front that SD and putting
it on my next video because yeah, I heard I
heard the supporter section loud and cleared from from my TV,
and yeah, they're they're a big part of this.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
Uh, the entire fan base is. And yeah, you can
tell when.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
There's a great play happening, the roar of the crowd
just it just it lights up every everything just kind
of gets louder and it sounds good just coming from
television or just being there.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
So yeah, it's a.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
It's great to hear that from your head coach that
you know, he's not not, you know, saying anything bad.
It's like, hey do it, how about don't do this? No,
He's like, yeah, you know, it's it's part of our culture,
as part of our what we want.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
It's you know, you guys are our family. It's really
great to hear.

Speaker 8 (30:00):
Almost cemented.

Speaker 7 (30:01):
It was very much cemented there that it was one
Zara at that point. Otherwise the leading question was, Hey,
so Mikey, what was the score?

Speaker 5 (30:14):
Oh man um Poppy Chavo. Good to see you brother,
miss you. I hope everything is.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
Amazing in your world as well.

Speaker 2 (30:24):
Who else do we got Tony to hear from from downstairs.

Speaker 8 (30:29):
I mean I could fire up a yepis firstv first match.

Speaker 5 (30:34):
That's good with y'all, let's do it.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Let's hear from the captain who had that amazing pass
to trigger the goal.

Speaker 10 (30:44):
Yeah, but he shakes through this match. Difficult nasketball team
to break down and very physical. How are you guys
able to withstand that physicality?

Speaker 9 (30:52):
And overall.

Speaker 14 (30:54):
It's a it's a very good team and we knew
that beforehand. So it was a game we actually just
thought about it, talked about it. It was a fun
game to play. Also to teams that so and I
wanted to play there their way, and I feel like
we had the overhand.

Speaker 3 (31:11):
We did.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
We did great in the build.

Speaker 14 (31:13):
Up and was being patient and patient and uh yeah
it ended up, but we're not for us, So I
think in all, a very good game for us in general.

Speaker 9 (31:22):
And then he also went through the MLS experience.

Speaker 10 (31:25):
Here we're going through the All Star Game now having
it off with the victors.

Speaker 6 (31:28):
You're at home.

Speaker 9 (31:29):
What has it been like this last week for you personally?

Speaker 6 (31:32):
Yeah, it's been fun, it's been special.

Speaker 14 (31:35):
It's it's been very American, I would say, with a
lot of media and a lot of people in general.
So yeah, it's it's I think for me at least
most a mental thing being able to yeah, get through
and all this spectacle as it's been.

Speaker 6 (31:55):
So it was a fun experience and I had to look.

Speaker 14 (31:58):
Forward to it with the with the guys also, it's
it's nice being a couple of guys going to get them.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
So it's fun.

Speaker 9 (32:04):
Hyeah, I'll do continue with that way that you are
playing in the league. Stup, what do you think about
complete Mexican?

Speaker 6 (32:19):
Yeah, it's it's something I'm also looking forward to.

Speaker 14 (32:23):
It's fun also trying to play against teams from another
league and another style also, so I've heard a lot
of very very positive things about the Mexican teams in general.
So yeah, it's it's gonna be fun. But I think
for us it's we play at home, We're playing, you know,
the way we want to play, how our style is,

(32:45):
and I think that's our competitive edge also against those teams.
So I think you're going to see, uh, San Diego
sees the team that tries to play as we've done
in the league and try to be dominant on the ball.

Speaker 7 (33:00):
Before we go there, Tom talk to us, walks through
Tiki's goal and how you saw that play and.

Speaker 14 (33:06):
That pass through and yeah, we have two good guys
on at the top and I think they were going
in transition and I picked up the ball and you
always know when I see him going transitions, usually that's
where the space is on the other side, on the
other end. So yeah, one through ball and then they

(33:28):
were almost two against one. And yeah, those guys, they
they finished when they get chances like that.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
So great, incredible stuff from the captain Yeppe to Verskov,
just continuing to be so strong and Tony I thought,
even though he was a late ad, he'll be working
his way back into the starting eleven, getting Kadoi back
out there and taking a little bit of the pressure

(33:57):
off of Yeppe. Having that twin six formation I think
so important, especially going forward. I mean there's barely any
players that SDFC can rotate through for League's Cup. They
kind of have to roll at least most of their lineup.
So just the idea that you're going to get good
Noi back for some minutes, is it's really needed.

Speaker 3 (34:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (34:21):
No, that's somebody who brings that experience, brings a physicality
you saw when Godoy came in for the first half. Honestly,
Nasville was having their way. They were very physical, especially
on the left hand side this match.

Speaker 8 (34:34):
But later on.

Speaker 7 (34:36):
They were able to persevere and then bring on their
own enforcer, and at that point that almost also broke
the spirit that they had left in Nashville, just say, oh,
they have somebody who's going to come in and give
these strong tackles. And you know, just one of the
tackles that was into a different slide tackle, just like
dueling slide tackles, that was you know, they described it

(34:57):
as a crunching tackle that you know, that's something that
you see on Sunday leagues where the deo the uncle
goes all in. It's like, hey, Tank, you know where
we're just we're just playing. But no, that's the type
of intendencity that go Doy brings to this team and
it's good to see that bolstered up.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Yeah, did you did you see.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Like the moment Goody came in and I think the
couple of chances that Hunting Buntar had the ball and
it was like one on one with good Doy and
it just felt like good Doy was so confident in
like covering him because He's like, oh, I've done this,
I've done this in training, I've done this against you.

Speaker 3 (35:38):
I was I'm a former Nashville player.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Like and and whenever Moktark got the ball, he just
kept going back and back and back because good Doy
was covering him so well, and like, Moktark just couldn't
do anything.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
In front of good Doy. So that was actually really
good to see. It was great to see good.

Speaker 4 (35:57):
Oy Uh just out there, and especially in this match,
because yeah, he knows the players, he knows the system
a little bit. He spent some time with Callahad and
and yeah, he really did make a difference in those
final minutes.

Speaker 11 (36:14):
There.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
One other guy I wanted to bring up his look
at Bombino from this match. He's becoming such an important
player for San Diego. F see how much his speed
on the wing opens things up, how much he helps
create the transition and the build up out of the back.
Sometimes he's that outlet by himself, but he's also got

(36:39):
the speed to get back and become a disruptive force
on the defensive side, which is of course what you
have to do as a as a d back. So
Bombino has gone to me from like young player that's
forced in due to injury to young player. That's really
impressing to now like core player on STFC.

Speaker 4 (37:06):
Yeah, and you know what he did, Yeah, he took
a shot on goal. That's that's a lot better than
seeing that Thomas, uh, Thomas and how they're not but yeah,
what he does.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
Oh, sorry, he did.

Speaker 8 (37:26):
Report that. Yeah he's out there something.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
It's been it's been confirmed he was on the field somewhere.
But oh man, but yeah he does. He does really
well just playing playing that left back position, and yeah
he does. He's not he's not afraid to take anybody
on and and that's that's a really good see thing
to see out of your fullback in this type of system, right,

(37:52):
Like they want the fullbacks to just keep going out
there and be a go go into an enemy territory
as far as possible, and yeah, he's not afraid to
do that, and he's not afraid to take shots. He's
not afraid to you know, pass one in into the
penalty Ara and yeah, he knows what he's doing. And

(38:15):
then once that pass goes up, uh, he's tracking back.
So that that's that's really good uh for for Bob.

Speaker 3 (38:22):
You know, and yeah, he fits the system really well.

Speaker 7 (38:25):
Hey, you guys want to hear what Uncle, what what
mikey about had to say about the mass huncin Sure,
just because it was brought up. I'm like, you know what,
this is direct and I think it's all a lot
of people's minds and it's a reality that Sandy UFC
has to face no longer here this is the true
number nine.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
Let's hear Italy, what's something that you feel like maybe
he can get better on the future, or something that
he needs to.

Speaker 14 (38:55):
Work or.

Speaker 11 (38:58):
I think the obvious thing is that he's not scoring
goals or getting the final pass, But we shouldn't minimize
the work that he is doing. He's doing a tremendous
stop pressing, He's doing a huge amount of defending work
for the team that helps.

Speaker 12 (39:16):
Liberate a little bit irving and honders.

Speaker 11 (39:19):
So of course any number nine wants to get into
more dangerous positions to help impact the goal.

Speaker 12 (39:25):
But what I will say is like he's.

Speaker 11 (39:28):
Still adding a lot to the team in terms of
just that energy that he brings and really mature and
disciplined defending. Is as strange as that sounds to say
about a number nine. But that's important because we talk
about being an anteam, So we want to be a
team that, yeah, is great up on the ball and
can play well in possession and defends as a team

(39:50):
and runs hard and fights.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
Good defense from the head coach, and yeah, you do
need some solid defending, and yeah that hard work can't
open up the wing guys, And yeah, you need your
nine to score eventually, you know, or else you don't
have the offense that you need, you might as well
just put in a fifth defensive back if that's going

(40:16):
to be the emphasis of the nine is their defense.
It's kind of like talking about the catcher's pitch framing
all the time because they're not hitting or necessarily catching
the ball. But yeah, maybe we are a little tough
on Tomas on Hell. Maybe he suffers because comparison is
the thief of joy and we all know what Eloski

(40:39):
did and what on hell is not doing for this team.
But I am equally confident guys that whether it's the
young kid Vasquez coming or it's someone else that we
haven't heard about yet in the transfer window, he's going
to do something to put someone in the nine that's
not toss On Hill.

Speaker 3 (41:02):
We can only hope.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
And you know, even if Vascas does come in, it's
not a guarantee that he's gonna just take.

Speaker 3 (41:13):
Over that spot, right.

Speaker 4 (41:15):
I would like to see an official like, you know,
or something reported that we are getting a veteran present
guy striker that that will make an impact as soon
as he gets here.

Speaker 3 (41:30):
With Vascaz, I feel like he still has a lot.

Speaker 4 (41:33):
To learn, Like he's gonna have to learn the system,
the way they play, and kind of what and do
do the things that on Hell's doing, and you kind of,
you know, try to mix that up with a little
bit of what Alasky was doing, and you know, try
to figure out how.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
Vosca could be a well rounded player like that.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
But I I I know like how this this is
probably going to play out, And I don't see like
Moscus just coming in and just being that number nine.
As soon as he gets here, it's probably gonna you
probably have to work himself into it, right, right, Tony.

Speaker 7 (42:11):
Yeah, No, Like you can't really just you know, square
peg round hole at any point in this in this system,
like you have to have that right moment in time.
And again that's something that has been happening through Mikey
Vais and the play style that they've been able to
find exactly where these pinholes are for each of the
players to line up perfectly, and that's how you get

(42:32):
that team performance that you've been having an output from
the squad.

Speaker 2 (42:38):
Well, maybe the last thing for me is just to
follow up question to the great sound we heard from
Mikey vanas fireman actions. Is that because Pablo's rushing into
the burning building when he's when he's charging toward the
edge of his eighteen?

Speaker 1 (42:54):
Is that a fireman action? Is that?

Speaker 5 (42:56):
Tony?

Speaker 2 (42:57):
Is that an official goalkeeping terminology? Fireman action?

Speaker 8 (43:02):
I think it's a general defensive terminology.

Speaker 7 (43:05):
You heard of bullet tang being uh being praised as
a you know, putting fires out a couple of weeks
ago over in uh.

Speaker 3 (43:13):
Hre was it?

Speaker 7 (43:13):
It was the way match that I sat out completely
and yeah, it was just stood up. But I think
it's more like, hey, whenever there's a fire put out
there there.

Speaker 8 (43:23):
To stop it.

Speaker 3 (43:24):
It was the Chicago fire, Chicago fire.

Speaker 1 (43:27):
So see that.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
Yeah, I got it.

Speaker 5 (43:31):
Fires, But now okay, now it's.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
A thing, got it? Yeah? Okay, yeah, fireman actions?

Speaker 2 (43:37):
All right, Okay, watch me steal that in the m
A s L season some fireman actions.

Speaker 1 (43:44):
I want, I want, I.

Speaker 5 (43:45):
Want to see those on on display.

Speaker 7 (43:48):
Boombo Bombino.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
Well, guys, uh, what a win for San Diego FC tonight.
What a win for those Cromados nothing beating Nashville.

Speaker 1 (44:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (44:04):
I don't know about you, but I just know I
always felt like the first school was gonna win. This
funny that if Nashville got won nothing, it was gonna
be really hard for us. If we got one nothing,
they may have a hard time, you know, breaking through
the wall in San Diego. They probably had a lovely
night last night here in America's finest city. Hopefully they're

(44:26):
enjoying or enjoyed the concert after the match that was
for you guys, e they're like, where's Country and Western?

Speaker 5 (44:35):
Who's this guy?

Speaker 3 (44:35):
D Orro?

Speaker 1 (44:38):
But nonetheless, huge win.

Speaker 2 (44:42):
We'll be back League's Cup action Tuesday night. Holy crap,
before we even have another regular Cromaniacs. We've got the
opening of leagues Cups, so we'll be back to talk
about that before you know it.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
Uh, final thoughts, gentlemen.

Speaker 4 (44:57):
Just uh yeah, we're leaks up for the next week.
So We're not seeing another league game MLS until the ninth.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
So yeah, we're in it.

Speaker 4 (45:09):
We're gonna see some lega MX action, some teams, some
people you probably need to know.

Speaker 3 (45:16):
All that will be covered next time one.

Speaker 7 (45:19):
Hundred percent, and then we'll be back also on Monday
with two balls in a mic, some more audio, some more.

Speaker 8 (45:25):
Sound from Chukulosano.

Speaker 7 (45:27):
Will he celebrate if he scores against the Chuca?

Speaker 3 (45:31):
Yeah, I wonder, I wonder. Uh, we'll see.

Speaker 8 (45:35):
He said he wouldn't, but we'll see.

Speaker 2 (45:37):
Uh what's he gonna He's just gonna like put his
head down and run back to midfield.

Speaker 4 (45:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, just like no, no, put the put
the You know.

Speaker 5 (45:49):
Just Robert, why did you Why did you show us
for sure?

Speaker 3 (45:53):
Chooky?

Speaker 5 (45:53):
Why did you make sure you score? And then you
can show us whether you celebrate or not.

Speaker 1 (45:58):
That's still to come. But today San Diego f C
gets their.

Speaker 2 (46:01):
Fourteenth win, restores confidence in snap Dragon Stadium as a fortress,
and takes out Nashville Soccer Club. One nothing for Alex Pana,
for Tony Sanchez, and for our man procrastinating Puma in
the background.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
I'm Craig Elson. Thank you for watching in vomos SDFC
