Craig Elsten, Tony Sanchez and Alex Peña come together live on YouTube after SDFC's 2-1 road win over Chicago Fire, continuing the expansion club's remarkable run of success on the road. The guys break down a tremendous first half and wobbly second half, choose their Man of the Match and more! During the show, they receive the news as reported by sandiego.futbol that head coach Mikey Varas held top striker Milan Iloski out of the lineup because his loan is due to expire at the end of the month. Why would SDFC hurt their own lineup in the short term, and is Milan *really* going to be lost back to a sister club?

Speaker 1 (00:33):
To the Chromaniac postmatch victory edition. What's happening everybody live
on YouTube on a Saturday night and coming into your
ear lobes whenever you decide to press play. It's Craig Elston,
Tony Sanchez, Alex Payana together for our first official postmatch

(00:54):
edition of Chromaniacs as SDFC emerges from the Windy City
with Italian beef for the entire plane ride on the
way back. Two to one, Les Cromados escape from Chicago
Fire and get out a soldier field with all three points. Gentlemen,

(01:14):
It's a great night to be a Cromaniac. How are you.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Doing good?

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Man?

Speaker 2 (01:20):
Doing good here, very very virtually.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Not in the garage as you can tell, maybe you
can't tell, but here we are a good victory.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
Away and coming back home.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
Resets in a lot of census for STFC.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Alex.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
Yeah, I hope they're playing a little Chicago on that
plane ride home, a little Saturday in the park.

Speaker 6 (01:42):
I think it was the twelfth.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
Of July that sand UFC gets to win over the
Chicago Fire, right right, Greg?

Speaker 4 (01:52):
Very good?

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Wow, I think it was the twelfth of July. This
team keeps on winning. We're gonna get into it all.
We're gonna break down this match from start to finish,
and then we'll take a quick look ahead because by
the time we have our next Cromaniacs, we'll have another
postmatch because we'll be seeing Toronto in Wednesday night at

(02:15):
Snapdragon Stadium. Great to have the live crowd there to
keep the comments coming. We'll keep them rolling through. Really
happy to have anybody here joining us, exulting in three
more road points. That's just where I have to start.
This is an expansion team, cobbled together going into MLS

(02:35):
venues that they've never been before. Long flight. We all
know the San Diego to Chicago flight. That's a long flight.
It's a tough situation, guys. Why does SDFC make this
look so easy? Why are they playing so well on
the road?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
I think Honors said it too in the post match
on Apple TVs, Like, for some reason, we seem to
play more freely on the.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Road than at home. And we can definitely tell that
in a lot of different ways too.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
You can see that there's a level of comfortability being
the oppressor at home, where usually away teams are fighting
for a tie, not necessarily San Diego have seen they
go in and they go for the win.

Speaker 5 (03:19):
Yeah, they they get a result. It's it's either a
winner or a draw, or winner or loss. And so
far we have now twenty one points on the road
and that's really good for an expansion club and a
club that that's always looking for that win on the road.

(03:40):
So they're they're not going for draws. They're they're really
going after the win. And that's that's really great to
see early on.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
Well, let's get into it all. Just I'm super psyched tonight.
By the way, for San Diego Sports, Padre has got
a huge win over the Phillies. St FC pulls out
three points on the road in Chicago. The way it
didn't matter, so that doesn't matter, but they played. It
was great to see all the all the Wave fans
out of Terrero Stadium. That's why I've got the Wave

(04:13):
outfit on today as I came fresh from work, uh
to to check this one out. Let's let's dig in,
let's get rolling. Great first half for San Diego f C.
Tremendous first half for San Diego f C. And the
second half that you know, I'm between the way the

(04:37):
podres play nothing but one run games and these second
halfs for sdf C, I'm starting to think about taking
go ahead.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
Sorry, Yeah, it seemed like, well, you know, starting off
with the lineup, we saw some changes there, right We
We saw.

Speaker 6 (04:59):
Uh come in for CJ.

Speaker 5 (05:00):
Dosantos and Valakari was in for good Doy Uh Thomas
san Hill was in for uh Milana and Lasky that
we thought was a starting you know player, a mainstay
for that position, and you know, I give it a
little bit of thought after my my initial text, it's like, well,

(05:21):
maybe you know, you're giving some guys from rest because
you know, you have a game coming up on Wednesday,
you have another game on Saturday. Maybe this there's probably
a good time too to uh get get some other
guys rotated in and and you know, it was interesting
to see uh since Sis Nigga out there, because it
kind of seemed like, uh, the Chicago was really bringing

(05:43):
the heat, the fire right up up front and with
with the press and uh yeah, that that's how that
this game started, right Tony.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, I mean it's good to see see I see
getting in there with some meaningful minutes. Last time he
was suited in the San Diego Chrominozoul it was against America,
and you know, just teenagers, not that Testificity doesn't have
their teenagers of their own, which I'll get into because
let me tell you that back line Verda Hoven and
Bombino plays an excellent match and and Ian.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
Pilcher also getting in there, subbed in in the second half.

Speaker 3 (06:18):
Like they can't be understated how these victories are happening
on the road with such a quote inexperienced line up.
These are children too, like they're literal children. So it's
incredible to see. I'll be able to come in and
I'll be honest, like Bottle Seas Native for me is
more of my style of goalkeeper because he's more of

(06:39):
a pure goalkeeper. Cjgo De Santo's almost like a two
point zero version of it, where the modern game dictates
that the goalkeeper has to be a little bit better
with their legs and with a ball on their feet.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Sez dang, it's just a baller. He's a shot stopper.
And you can tell early in.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
That match there was a breakdown on the right hand
side and then an incredible reaction, say by Sea Bi
Bottles Bega.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
Absolutely electric and before we even go from start to finish.
Let me ask a question, because I think it's going
to spark the conversation. Who's your man of the match?
SDFC two, Chicago Fire one, give me a man of
the match each twenty and I'll give you mine.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
I've had Bomino.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
I really like the way Bomino played, just running up
and down and just being very vertical and and still
making sure that this defensive tasks were met at all times,
and that left hand side really was locked down. And
you can see him just every single time that he
needed to come up come down with a sprint, he
just put his head down and made sure he was

(07:43):
there where he needed to be. And you saw him
come out later for for for negaty. But that's just
a reflection of just the amount of exhaustion that Bombino had.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
And look he got on he got.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
On the assists stat line, and he's made making sure
to make a big comeback after the last last week's
match against against Houston.

Speaker 6 (08:07):
I'm going with Dryer here.

Speaker 5 (08:09):
I mean, you score our brace and that asked the
X factor of the game right there, and and again
the first goal was just absolutely brilliant. Just the patience
he had and then and then the second again being
at the right place at the right time too.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
It just he he, he.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Really does just carry the team. And it shows in
his goal contributions. It's like it's pretty much each week
now he's either a goal or assists, or it's two
two assists or two goals.

Speaker 6 (08:45):
It's just each week.

Speaker 5 (08:48):
He's putting up numbers and and and that's what we
see Understryer now.

Speaker 6 (08:53):
And it's great to see. I mean, especially when we're.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
We want to put him next to uh Lionel Messi
in the in the MVP conversation, and uh yeah, there's
still a lot of seasons ago, and I'm glad that
he keeps posting each week and it's still creating that
conversation that he deserves to be here. He deserves to

(09:18):
be in that MVP conversation, and just just keep just
keep it up.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Drivers, you know, Tony, great analysis, Bombino had a tremendous game,
Alex Chop pick it's the right pick. Everyone agrees, the
chat agrees. You guys are great. Welcome into the Hot
Take express over here. All right, Pablo sis Niega is

(09:49):
my man of the match, and I'll tell you why
right at the start, right at the jump. You're on
the road.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
You're on the road.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
You're young team on the road. Giveaway inside the eighteen,
rip shot, Cistiega has to cover two thirds of the
net racing for the diving one handed stop right here. Oops,
that's a goal. That's a goal, folks, that's fourth minute,

(10:21):
that's one nothing. Sisniega makes the save of the year,
just makes an absolute beauty. And he was far from
done because in the second half, Chicago brought the fire
for the entire half and he made the aggressive play
charging the line of the eighteen to take the ball

(10:42):
away at a moment the exact play that didn't go
right with Dose Santos in not the exact same scenario.
It's not a perfect one for one, but made that
aggressive play and his reaction save late in the second half,
point blank indoor soccer brilliance right there. That's a Boris

(11:05):
Parto Chris Toth type, you know, superstar goal goalstop right
there and the goal conceded. He did everything that he
possibly could on that play. I thought cis Niega was
absolutely outstanding, and I think that SDFC gets no more
than one point if they if they don't have the

(11:26):
performance by Cisniega, and that's why he's my man of
the match.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
There it is look at that.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
That's that's brilliance right there, and he was right up
for the rebound.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Just in Kings.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
What I love about that save is that you can
see that there's definitely a hole in that defense right
Let's see right here that gets filled with Poplicisnega's presence.
He has his eyes on the ball, but at no
point is he out of position to be able to
react to which ever way that ball is gonna go.

(12:01):
He's perfectly in the middle. He can go left, he
can go right. Fortunately for him, it's a it's right
at him. It's not an easy save for by any means.
But if you just look at the direction that he's
looking in, that empty space is filled down by that cone.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
That a vision of his. So he's gonna be able
to really react well to that.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
So positioning, not just the instinct to just pounce on
it and react with the quick reflexes, but just that
positioning and know how to know that that's the position
where he's gonna be the best, have the best chance
to make a stop. And that's exactly what it does,
just right at him. Cool, come on back, let's go
just in case. Incredible.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
That's my that's my man of the match.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
That's all I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
We'll talk a little more about the keeper. But hey,
there's plenty of there's plenty of love to go around,
and it's great to have a situation where we have
some love to share around. By the way, I see
Afy six one nine in the chat who says the
star is from the flag, Greg, and that is definitely
a reference to Crimaniac seven when I was making fun

(13:12):
of the Chicago Fire logo.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
My provincialism has been coming out over the last couple
of episodes of The Cromaniacs. You know, look at me,
this slick san Diegan over here, just trying to get
his mic levels right, like he should worry about that
and not worry about stars on flags.

Speaker 4 (13:32):
Anyways, it still looks like it could be the Red
Stars logo.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Man of the match discussion aside, we can continue forward
and hey to Lucas one goal for one nothing because
Luca Bombino gets the assist at first one I watched it.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Even the second time I watched it.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
I thought did Lozano get a back yel touch on
that cross to Dryer, But the answer was no, it
was more of a dummy than anything else, which gave
Dryer the ability to take two touches to score. A
lot of times, when you take two touches on a
play like this, that second touch is going to get
blocked no matter how strong the shot is. But Delatorius

(14:14):
hold a play to get the ball to Bombino on
the circle route there, you know, the overlapping run. That
was tremendous. Great to see Luca back in the lineup
and Delatore gets the hockey assist, the secondary assist right there.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 6 (14:32):
Oh man, it seemed like.

Speaker 5 (14:36):
You know when when Chicago, you know, is also trying
to press you, you just go back.

Speaker 6 (14:43):
To them and you press them.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
And they were trying to get the ball out and
do the type of player that we do. And that's
the thing. We were so familiar with that style of play.
It wasn't going to work. And and then we just
get the ball and just pass it around and he
goes from Luca to Luca out to Dryer, and I
just love to finish so much that you could just

(15:07):
see like he's not trying to kick it right away,
you know, he takes a touch and then finishes it
off and it's just brilliant by Dryer and and it's
it's just so great to have him there in that spot.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Again.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
My favorite part of this goal is Bombino once again,
because that cross in it's almost like it looks yeah,
it's deliberate, it's exactly what's supposed to. It's not necessarily
designed to go through so many legs, but it's a
change up of a cross where it's not full power.
He hits the top of the ball, so it's at

(15:44):
it just stays on the floor, and that's almost counterintuitive
to what you want because you almost want to create
a chaos with a strong cross. It's delayed a little
bit and that's what tricks everybody where it should be run.
I should be able to meet it as a defender,
but it's behind me because of that pace.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
And so I also like that.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Of mass on Keri, which is kind of there, like hey,
I could have done that, but Dre was like, nope.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
I got it.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
I got it for us, No worries.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Absolutely just really really impressive start to that end. How
close to offside, I mean really both of San Diego
FC's goals were on the razor's edge tonight.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
I thought, it's it's.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
It's those small margins that you know, at the end
of the day you get a two to one victory,
the smallest of margins. But I think it's in those
moments that Sante FC is really excelling, and it takes
and it takes those games for for a real true
competitor in the playoffs that to come to fruition, you
have to be able to be good in the details,

(16:54):
and sdfc's definitely taking that, taking that step back from
last week and come back and reset with their style.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
Let's move to gold number two Alex, which was holy cow.
I mean, talk about a thing of beauty. The go
ahead pass you know in hockey you call it the
headman pass by Bombino setting up the two v one,
but the synchronicity of Dryer and Lozano to match one

(17:25):
another's pace going down the field with the ball control
as a part of it, the Bombino steal, the Bombino
pass ahead. Now these two guys have to be in
perfect synchronicity and not be offside, and they accomplish both
and that one touch right there from Dryer.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
That is MVP stuff. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
You know when you go box a box like that
and you're stretching out the defense, you got to have
some really in net players that you know, they know
where to be, they know how to stretch to feel
like that. And and Chukey was right on it once
that pass came through. Once Bobino beat his guy and
he he was getting ready for that pass to launch

(18:09):
it out there and out in space, and and Chukey
just took off running like he was.

Speaker 6 (18:17):
He was on it.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
And then in Dryer, I think Dryer was seeing the
same thing. They were just in sync. They were just like, Okay,
Chuky's gonna go get the ball. I got to be
in the in the in the right spot. And and
again he was, and and that helped us, uh you know,
be up you know in the first aft to to
nothing against the fire.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
It's that that gear that both of those players can
get to, Rightcho making that run and you just have
a confidence of like he's going.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
To get it to Dre.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Like whether or not Drea finishes, whether or not a
defender makes a good play.

Speaker 2 (18:51):
Cho nine out of ten times does those.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Small but incredible passes and little details very well, so
again we're starting to see this link up play between
a healthy Chooky and a healthy healthy Honors Dryer. So
what if we get to some proliference in the center
forward position.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (19:11):
You know again, we still haven't seen the best I
think of STFC, you.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Know, yes, but now that we're really looking at it
and looking at the substitution patterns of the match, we
just agree that a loss, he's gonna play Wednesday and
next Saturday. Right, And this was a rest rotation. Give
on Hell a chance. On Hell has played pretty well,

(19:38):
you know, give them that opportunity. Didn't really do as
much with it, maybe as a Loski might have. But
you don't have to have all three. You can have
these two guys and have them play off one another,
and that's an MVP level combination. Chucky Lozano was so
dynamite tonight, guys. I mean, and he's just his speed,

(20:02):
his ability to take someone on one v one and
the smoothness is what really impresses me about Chucky Lozano.
He has the ability to make quick touches in tight spaces,
to be explosive and to be creative all at once.
Here's another chance he makes for himself to the left foot,
good save. I mean he's going short posts there. I

(20:24):
don't think I think he dribbled himself into fewer choices, right,
you know, in that circumstance. But nonetheless, Lozano terrific. Trending
toward ninety minutes, probably next week at some point. And
what we still it almost feels like we've still never

(20:44):
seen it all. As you said, Tony, the death Star
fully operational, and maybe that's coming.

Speaker 4 (20:52):
Thither this week?

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Does that fully fully formed death Star? Sorry, Alex?

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Does it?

Speaker 2 (20:59):
Does it start with us?

Speaker 5 (21:03):
They have the quarterback controversy here. Yeah, we we still
haven't seen the full squad yet and it and that's
the thing that's the most exciting thing.

Speaker 6 (21:13):
It's like, when are we're going to see like a
full nightty from everybody?

Speaker 5 (21:17):
And and it's all firing on all cylinders because when
you have on held in in there in the front,
he has certain skills and I think he's just a
better off. He's just better off coming in late and
be that late substitute when you kind of need another goal.

Speaker 6 (21:41):
We've seen Valacari there.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
He's he's much more of a bigger man that you know,
he can try to win those aerial doles when when
you need him to. But and then Alasky just has
that presence to just fire, like from anywhere he can
come in, be that speed demon you know, and and
fire you know, from anywhere.

Speaker 6 (22:02):
He just you can score for him anywhere, and.

Speaker 5 (22:05):
It's just it's gonna be fun to see it, like
all three of them playing in a full ninety between Losano, Alaski,
and uh and Dryer.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
In the Chattel, Hondro is saying that mikey Varies said
that he didn't play Eloski to prioritize players that are
staying because there's.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
No loan agreement.

Speaker 1 (22:26):
Is that something that happened in postmatch tonight? Is because
I haven't seen any of the post match commentary.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
Yeah, actually, uh girl and.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
The comments here part of that post match and yeah,
actually no, trust me.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
It's like if I came up to you like, hey,
I'm Jose, No worry, Craig.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
But no, who is Alejandro chiev A name yoursel? But yeah,
that's that.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Was actually a comment that Mike Vota said post match.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
And I mean whether or not you want to go
ahead and take that with a grain of salt or
as you may, but that's that was what he said.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
It's very simple.

Speaker 3 (23:08):
His loan is expiring at the end of July and
we haven't come to an agreement yet for him to stay.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
I decided to prioritize the players that are here for
the rest of the season. So so.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
WTF. First of all, it's still July. Yeah, yeah, there's
lots of games before July is over.

Speaker 2 (23:35):
Very true?

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Is this a message from Mikey to Tyler? Is this
just telling is just just being honest to a fault?
I mean, Mike Schilt would never but uh, is this
honesty to a fault? Is a lost key? Jeremy just

(23:56):
asking the chat hey ten bowls in a hot minute,
it has Milana Alaski asked for the sun and the
moon and the stars, to the point that Tyler Heaps
feels it's going to injure his ability to add to
the club at the transfer window, et cetera, et cetera.
What I do know is that when I visited eighteen
Threads on Thursday, his jersey was hanging up. So if

(24:21):
this is something that leads to the coach saying that
is this a very new development? Is this today that
this is an issue. Okay, is it a Norchaland hang
on if if we get screwed in a negotiation with
FC norchaland.

Speaker 5 (24:41):
Our sister club by the way, well that would be
a question.

Speaker 1 (24:46):
Yeah exactly, Yeah, we know who's the older sister.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
I get it, but yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (24:56):
Wow, wow, chieva huge. This is the just throwing a
spanner in the works. This was going to be a
very very happy Postman show. Don't don't you lose your
Lawski to your own Cis this can't happen?

Speaker 4 (25:13):
Yeah? Is this?

Speaker 2 (25:14):
Is this a tyler? He's telling Mikey about us?

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Hey, like, let's put the governor on him a little bit,
because you know it is he's starting to.

Speaker 2 (25:20):
Rack it up. And I mean, what would have happened
had he started here?

Speaker 3 (25:24):
I think I really do think Iloski would have gotten
a goal or two here. And and this again the
commentary on on where the massien q is in his development,
and there's time where he's kind of floating onto the
left side and when he does those runs that he
Looski has done very well and run exactly where Dreyer
or Chucky's gonna go ahead and have the ball for him.

(25:44):
It's almost like the massien Kin decides to cover himself
and mark himself and just start to run into Chuki
or run into dryer and not run.

Speaker 2 (25:52):
Into that space. And so it's those little moments where
I'm just like.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Iloski would have made that run, would have made that
diagonal look, he would have had that pace and really
be on hav ing feet on there. Again, the mosle
isn't isn't the worst. He's actually been coming up and
doing much better. But yeah, and for two, we were
both in the post match press conference and he had
asked me like, Hey, I'm going to ask this.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
I'm like, I think.

Speaker 7 (26:16):
That's like question for like you can't you can't come
out with like, hey Mikey, blah blah blah blah, what
about this? Like and yeah, we had a good postmatch
and he asked that, and actually need the best response
because of it, because Yeah, I think Mikey is very
honest with his his takes.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Earlier in the season he actually said I actually asked him, Hey,
are you planning to have me Lanowski here? And He's like, oh, yeah,
one hundred percent.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
We're we're making plans and we're heaping plans for Millennieloski
for the rest of the season.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
So honestly, to.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
A fault maybe, but I'll tell I'll take it. I'll
take whatever's coming in. But Milosky has to stay.

Speaker 6 (26:53):
Yeah, what what's what's holding this up?

Speaker 5 (26:55):
Like a condo and down downtown or something like what what?

Speaker 6 (26:59):
What? What? What is he asking for?

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Like you know, just I would say, like, get Manny
on the phone and he'll make it happen for you.
Get he'll He'll make the bachelor pad happen and you
know it's it's it's all gonna work out, Milan. Just
just stay home. We need to hear because you know,
going back to Denmark, that's that's a that's a rough one. Uh,

(27:25):
it's cold in the winners. You're not going to have
seventy the degrees and sunny vibes here like you do
and incandido, So come on, just just stay on and yeah,
keep scoring scoring some goals for us.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
So you're suggesting that Manny Machado kick Dylan Cees out
of the guest house.

Speaker 5 (27:45):
Uh is not gonna stay here, right.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
Yeah, player on loan, but you shouldn't fall in love with.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
Yeah, no, I look bottom line SDFC cannot let Milan
Alaski go. So what that sounds like to me just
processing all of the information, thank you Chieva still misnamed
in our chat, processing this all. What this says to

(28:22):
me is that too many people have said the sentence
I just said, STFC cannot let Milan Aloski go and
norchaland is one of the folks who heard that it's no? Really,
well then how about it? So does Mohammed Mansur have
to get involved? Can't he tell all the sisters to

(28:43):
stop fighting and get in line? Like where do we
need to go up the chain to get this sorted?
Because Elosky going back to Norway is a loss for
the Right to Dream organization. It's a failure organizationally if
this doesn't happen. So I'm just gonna go ahead and

(29:04):
assume that this is some sort of nonsense Denmark, Sorry
but speaking extemporaneously. But I'm assuming this is some sort
of nonsense, and that it isn't that it isn't real,
that it's some sort of negotiating. But why put stfc's
points at risk between here and there? Aloski should have

(29:24):
been in the.

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Match, or again just another tactic of like Hey, Eloski,
you're great in all and you're asking for this, but
we just got three points anyway without you, so we
can get this done. So let's be more house friendly.

Speaker 7 (29:40):
Let's go ahead, and you know, hometown discount, We know
all this, is this really sustainable?

Speaker 1 (29:45):
Milan?

Speaker 2 (29:46):
Is you really think you're going to be doing this?
You're you're not even in an All star Milan.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
So okay, let's move to the second half. Pilcher for
McNair to start the second half. That just a conditioning
return from injury situation.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
There, Yeah, correct, Patty still's nursing that injury that he
had earlier in the year, actually that he aggravated over
in Northern Ireland, and he's still coming back limited to
forty five minutes and that's going to keep climbing as
it ghosts.

Speaker 1 (30:25):
Fair enough left you with a back for the you know,
feels a little like a roll of the dice. And honestly,
I thought the second half Chicago just pretty much had
the front foot the entire way.

Speaker 4 (30:45):
And you know, we talked about the point blank save.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
There it is again. You know, the corner goal is
well struck in the eighty sixth minute, but there were
plenty of other chances. There were other opportunities along the
way for Chicago if they had gotten some balls down,
including in the ninety seventh minute. You know, that header
down was an outstanding opportunity to score. Just you gotta

(31:09):
get your head over the ball instead of getting back
and having it fire high. Honestly, the fire probably kicking
themselves in the locker room.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
They didn't get at least one out of this.

Speaker 5 (31:20):
Yeah, they just couldn't finish their opportunities. And lucky for us, really,
you know, they dominated, well, it was close to fifty
to fifty possession when it came to the second half,
but their expected goals was one point one four and
for us it was.

Speaker 6 (31:40):
Only like zero point one three.

Speaker 5 (31:42):
And yeah, they had twelve shots total, three shots on target,
and three big chances and they just it only took
advantage of one. And that was you know, lucky for us.
We kind of it was good app season. You made
those saves. It was good that we we played some

(32:06):
you know, pretty you know, moderate defense, and and we
kind of we kind.

Speaker 6 (32:12):
Of kind of got away with one.

Speaker 5 (32:13):
But yeah, the these second halves are starting to worry
me a little bit.

Speaker 6 (32:17):
When when since since last week, and it's.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
Especially when you're putting in a peltry out there, uh
for for relief for McNair.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
Who else do you have because I mean, looking down
that that death chart, it's not pretty whatsoever. And that
was I was sharing with you guys, just like my
concerns with just redlining these players, right, and.

Speaker 2 (32:42):
You know it's you have you have this vehicle, SDFC.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
It's it's a it's a really cool, awesome stick shift
in first gear, second gear, third gear. But once you're
going up in those revolutions and you're you're still kicking
and cranking it and they're going all they can, that
car is going to give out some.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Point and you know, look know comes comes out. He
had been nursing with an injury.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
He's been dealing with an injury the past couple of weeks,
so that's why his performance last week made sense.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
He comes in, bounces back, but it's just.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
The output of energy and it's not going to get
any any slower for this for these players. So STFC
definitely need to start bolstering that that.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
That midfield, that defense and just get players in the
building at this point. That's something that needs to happen.
Players need to happen.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Look, Craig, you went to a Wave game today, Yeah,
with friendly But there's something called the international replacement players.
Is that a mechanic because that STFC doesn't have MLS
two team, there's no MLS Next Pro, there's there's nothing,
So what's what's happening?

Speaker 1 (33:48):
Is that something they're going to build in future seasons.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Yeah, So the plan is for Right to Dream to
have their team a sense, be a travel team that
does that, that does the work of being a two team. However,
there are mechanics to have local teams be some sort
of feeder team as well. I know City SC in

(34:13):
the UPSL locally was one team that was looked at.
There's a couple of other teams that were looked at,
but there's not officially just word of what's going to
happen in terms of that theater team, because you know,
you can wait for these fifteen year olds, but you're
gonna have to wait for two years for one to
really just start you blossom me into what you want.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Well, the only other real second half note I had
was questioning why Boatan came in instead of Aloski, But
now we know, so we don't have to worry about
that part any longer. Free Milan Eloski. Guys, get this sorted, like,
could you imagine? I hate this? I can't believe after

(35:00):
a great win we have this commentary about oh, well, you.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
Know, I mean I focused on the players who's staying.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
That feels disingenuous. I don't think Mikey Vadies believes that.
I don't think he's That feels like the first disingenuous
thing I've ever heard him say.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
I would have rather him say, hey, look, he needs
some rest. We're going to deploy him on Wednesday, and
had we needed him in the second half, we would
have let him go and let him get out there.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
But no, that's not the response I was expecting to
be completely honest.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
George asks, are we going to sell SDFC sign A
Loski shirts. We're not quite that created yet, George, But
give us a few months to really get the machine
up and running and maybe we'll be ready to pop
that out like breaking Tea would the next day and
just have it ready to roll. But yes, sign A Lowski,

(35:56):
do you need me to promise to go buy an
Alasky jersey or something like? What do we need SDFC.
Do we need a cash infusion here? Do we need
enough fans to promise that they'll buy a thirty two
if you keep the kid for the rest of the year.
You know, seriously, I'd like to see this thing get

(36:17):
resolved now with that, let's I'm just not going to
keep eating the dead horse. This is a one night thing.
Maybe Wednesday we're laughing and scratching Alasky scoring three and
we all think it's really funny. Today in MLS, Minnesota
thumped San Jose for one. However, Vancouver got thumped by

(36:39):
Colorado three nothing. Late score saw LAFC come up with
a dub over FC Dallas, which you know, boyd, Texas
just taken another l to California.

Speaker 4 (36:51):
You just hate to see it, you really do.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
But as a result, guys forty two points Alex thirteen wins,
four away and two points clear of the Loons to
stay first in the West.

Speaker 6 (37:10):
Yeah, and.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
I think we should start counting down how many wins
we need to clear before we get the win total
for an expansion club, which is four. We need four
left and for to get the points total, we need
fifteen and if we get.

Speaker 6 (37:32):
Five more wins, we can get that.

Speaker 5 (37:34):
So yeah, it's it's we're closing in on a on
a wildcard spot. And I was actually looking at the
Houston Dynamo and where they're at because I think they're
like a four game gap between us, like they need
about no, actually they need sixteen points, so that's that's

(37:57):
over a five game gap. So like pretty much by
the start of September, I think, if we keep breaking
that gap and it gets wider and wider between us
and the and the outside team outside the wildcard, we're
clitching a wildcard spot pretty soon, I mean in a

(38:17):
matter of a couple of months.

Speaker 6 (38:19):
So it's, uh, it's yeah, it's exciting.

Speaker 5 (38:22):
We keep getting wins, we keep getting three points, and yeah,
I mean the countdown is on for me.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
With this result, they actually break the record for most
points through twenty games for an expansion team. So that's
you know, just positive trending tracking for data driven that's
you know, it's the arrow is heading the right direction
for you for SANDYFC.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
But and again, like this is.

Speaker 3 (38:53):
Regardless of what you may take of SANDYFC season and how.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
Good or great it may be, it's just it's impressive.

Speaker 3 (39:00):
Just again, the level ambition this NDUFC had to begin
this the year to.

Speaker 2 (39:05):
To really say, hey, we're gonna stick to this.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
They did have a head start by having a playbook
just copy pasted almost and just a lot of blueprints
for an expansion team that other teams didn't have. But
regardless of that, the execution of it has been impressive.
And again for our first time coach in Miki Vadas,
like literally he's never coached adults outside of the two
hours he had as an interim US men's national team.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
He's never coached adult and.

Speaker 3 (39:30):
Are arguably still for the for the majority of part
Look at his backline still have it.

Speaker 2 (39:35):
But but he's doing a wonderful job.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
And and and again that team is incredible, not just
him but his coaching staff, and it goes through this
entire UH soccer ops that they have going. So kudos
to them and we'll see, you know, I see already
Toronto easy win.

Speaker 2 (39:55):
It's it's not like MLS. It is just so wonky,
like I can't get a hold on it. And that's
what I kind of like about.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
It, but don't like it.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
It is unpredictable, absolutely, and you know, having said that,
SDFC is a dynamite team. So I'm going to just
go ahead and light a candle after the show's over
that all of this rhetoric after the match is nothing
but that palabras nothing more, and that a lawski is

(40:28):
going to start on Wednesday, and that this team's going
to continue to have this dynamic Sun run a couple
of the comments, and it's absolutely true. It's a true
one point deficit right now for the supporter shield.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
There's no games in hand.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
Philadelphia has played twenty two with forty three points. SDFC
has played twenty two with forty two points.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
I mean, are you kidding me?

Speaker 2 (40:56):
I don't even want to go there.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
Too early, too early, it's like talking about the Dodgers
in the division, you know what I mean? Now, it's
like talking about the Dodgers in the division. Wait till
the last week.

Speaker 5 (41:08):
And it's it's super close, right, It's it's just just
one one difference, right, it's we we're not going to
know until like maybe the final week of the season,
and then I think that's what's gonna make it all
interesting for those that don't know that. It's what they
call the final game of the season. Is called decision Day.

Speaker 6 (41:29):
That's when.

Speaker 5 (41:31):
Wild card teams are made, That's when positioning is made
for the playoffs, and that's when you know pretty much
who wins the supporter Shield. So that that's gonna be
exciting that if we're in it for like the final
week of the season, we have something to play for
against the Portland Timbers.

Speaker 6 (41:50):
That's gonna be so fun.

Speaker 1 (41:55):
By the by the way, Tony, today Toronto drew at
home against Atlanta, conceding in the one hundred first minute
to drop two points ninety plus eleven for the goal
by an Manuel Latte Lath for a one to one

(42:18):
draws So you know, not coming in with wind at
their sales, so to speak. And to me that just
says SDFC focus, play the match that you need to play,
don't get caught up in any nonsense, and the road
should be in front of you, because that's how I

(42:38):
felt about Chicago Fire, to be honest, a team that
showed a lot of promise on attack I thought today
a team that I thought looked pretty decent overall. But
SDFC had their moments of brilliance and they had the
man of the match, Pablo Sistaniega come up with gigantic
saves and they pull three more points out on the

(42:59):
road to keep this sun run going and keep us
feeling like our hearts are going to be full for
SDFC throughout the summer.

Speaker 3 (43:09):
It's incredible and also just to know, and this something
I forgot to ask Mikey about us per postmatch and
hopefully I can get them in the in the mid midweek.
Meat availability is twenty four minutes of exer at a
time in the last two games. Seventeen minutes against Houston,
seven minutes against Chicago.

Speaker 2 (43:31):
Doesn't seem like a lot, but when you're measuring and.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
Just have the exact number of minutes that a player
can can be on the pitch safely for his health,
look at Patty McNair, these numbers start adding up and
they matter.

Speaker 4 (43:44):
And so I'm really.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
Curious to see just if that has had any effect
or what the long term effect of that can be,
because that's essentially just an extra half that STFC has
now taken on in the last two games and something
say another.

Speaker 2 (43:58):
Theory, but it's just a nice little stat just to
kind of look at.

Speaker 1 (44:07):
All. Right, any final thoughts on this postmatch edition Cromaniacs
program two to one win in Chicago Toronto coming up quick.
We'll be back Thursday to talk about it all, to
break it all down for you to get ready for
next Saturday's match as well. I just think it's a

(44:29):
great time to be a soccer fan in San Diego.
You got an MLS franchise and an NWSL franchise that
are both, you know, good hearted and doing the right
thing and bringing in the right players, playing an exciting
attacking style. Who could have thought that we would have
this much fun, you know, two goals, three goals, all
the time happening. It's a beautiful time to be a

(44:53):
San Diego sports fan. It's a beautiful time to be
a San Diego soccer fan. I kind of think it's
a beautiful time to be starting a San Diego So
I'm really happy to be with you with YouTube guys
and on this road. And I'm really thankful for the
dozens of folks that have been watching us live on
YouTube and for everybody who listens and watches after the
fact as well, because exactly erratic genius. Who would look

(45:18):
at us, who would have thought not me?

Speaker 6 (45:25):
Yeah, it's like the same for me.

Speaker 5 (45:27):
I mean, it's great to pick up three points on
the road again and onto Toronto and that should be
a good matchup and with a team that's you know,
lower on the Eastern Conference. You know, they don't score
a lot of goals and we do. And hopefully that
that's going to be another three points at home.

Speaker 6 (45:45):
So I'm looking forward to that.

Speaker 3 (45:47):
What about you, Tony, Yeah, it's going to be interesting
again these a Canadian team. Then you know, to see
if there's any such thing as a trap game mmls, because.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
Staff games that are supposed to happen don't happen. And
then boom.

Speaker 3 (46:00):
I don't know where Houston takes a win at home
for STFC, but we'll see what they have. And I'm
also excited to share the postmatch sound from Mikey about us,
from Luka Bomino and from Blosi's Naga. You're man of
the match, Craig, And you can also hear Mikey about
us say it from his mouth too.

Speaker 1 (46:18):
Yeah, can I skip that part?

Speaker 4 (46:21):
I'm already mad? Can I skip that?

Speaker 2 (46:23):
We are leading? We are leading with that on two
balls and a mic on Monday.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
