(00:02):
It's time for the Cinemassacre Podcast andnow the hosts with the most James Kieran,
Justin and this badass guest, Welcomeback to the Cinemassacre Podcast. We
are very tired because we just wentwent to too many games, slash a

(00:24):
little hungover. Extremely Well, I'mnot hungover. I'm still drunk, okay,
And so I stopped drinking two months. Uh and then I it was
two many games, so I hada couple of beers. Yeah. Yeah,
So we just had our first conventionback. I think for all of
us was this was our first myfirst one back. Yeah yeah, first

(00:47):
convention back, um since pre pandemic. First time seeing the fans in person
again, um, you know, first time being like announced as as a
guest. I remember, like,we we're waiting for this for a long
time, and it was always kindof you know a lot of stress associated
with it because we didn't know ifit was going to happen or not because
it kept getting postponed. You know. So we basically just went to two

(01:11):
many games twenty twenty but in latetwenty twenty one. Yeah, the last
year never happened. We all knowit's not real. Yeah, it really
feels like a month went by somehow. An eternity too, Yeah, I'd
go with eternity, but um no, I mean you're right at the same
time, very fast. We didn'twant Douglas Walker. That is, you

(01:36):
want to introduce yourself, Doug.Oh, I'm Doug Walker. If you
know him, you probably know me. But if you know me, you
definitely know him critic and stuff likethat. Yeah, so Doug was in
town for the convention, so wedecided to you know, have you on
um, which is why we're doingit after the convention. In any other

(01:57):
circumstance, I'm gonna say, let'snot do podcasts after conventions. Sunday night,
Yeah, like it was night afterYeah. It's like right now my
car is full of guitars and camerasand just like like I need to bring
it home to unpack everything, andthen I need to pack immediately to leave

(02:17):
somewhere in the morning. You know. More on that later, you know,
but uh, yeah, Doug andI are going somewhere interesting tomorrow.
Um, but uh should how isyour first convention back? Man? I
was. It was awesome. Itwas like so it's really yeah, and
you know how people are all happyat conventions, you know how it's like,

(02:37):
you know when you see people faceto face and they're just all so
excited. Um, it seemed likeit was even happier than normal because it's
been so long and everybody needed thisso bad. Oh yeah, yeah,
I mean especially too many games becausethere's people there that I only know from
too many games, like a lotof the vendors, because this is my

(02:58):
tenth year as at too many games. Yeah, um, because I started
work doing some of them in twentyeleven, twenty and twelve. Even even
when years when it didn't happen, like twenty twenty, we were still doing
things behind the scenes and it justcrazy. All the people just feel like
yesterday, yeah, I solemn lastSo now that was pretty cool. Yeah,
there's a lot of people I haven'tseen for years. Yeah that I

(03:19):
saw again and it really was like, oh my god, like I really
didn't miss this. Yeah, liketoday, like what I'm fresh off of
just now is we we just didthe autograph signing. Um just signed for
hours and end signed last night afterthe Rex Viper show. So yeah,
Usually at the conventions, I doa panel and then I do a Q
and A. But this time.On top of that, I also did

(03:40):
the Rex Viper Show. It wasamazing, Like it was seriously one of
the best nights that I've had indoing creative projects. Like it was so
fun and so fresh, and likethe crowd was so into it. The
whole room was packed, like justall the way to the back wall,
just filled with people. I gotsome video of it. I was of

(04:01):
the crowd. Yeah, not awhole lot, just like a minute or
two, but I got like thecrowd I went around that's awesome. Yeah.
I was like, you know, because I was sitting on the side
with you guys. Did you seethat kid in there? Like the kid,
Yeah, I fist bumped him.He had the rex Viper shirt and
like, um man, it wasso cool. He was like living it

(04:25):
up right in the front row.He was going nuts. It was it
was really cool. Yeah, AndI think you were saying too, Like
you're saying, man, that senselike you premiere the Nerd movie. Yeah,
like you know felt that, youknow, but there's almost even more
of a rush. And I thinkpart of that is, you know with
something where you premiere something, it'slike it's great seeing everybody there, but
it's like it's it's done. It'sa finished project. When you're there and

(04:46):
you're actually like giving them the projectlive, yeah, and there's just even
more of a rush, yeah, and more nerves. Like I was more
nervous about doing live stuff. That'seven better when it was yeah, like
people love and stuff. It's like, okay, okay, this is okay
because like we didn't the whole bandnever even met in person until three days
before the first ever show. Yeah, and then the full band only practiced

(05:11):
twice together. You guys sounded awesome. Yeah, Like man, I had
chills, and I know, Iwas like, holy shit, you guys
are you guys were the coolest dudesalive in that at that time. You
you were the coolest guys on planetEarth. It was great, I know,
And everybody was saying the same thing. I remember, like like just
seeing people in line to get allgraphs with the band. It was so

(05:32):
cool to pose with, you know, the whole band, and like just
having all the fans coming through. It's interesting because well, you know,
I'm a pretty pretty critical person andI just hear like all mistakes even on
my and all this stuff. Sowhen you walk around, anyone's like dude,
that was great. That was great, That was great, that was
great. You know, not asingle person came up and said that sucked
or that you missed you missed thatnote? You know who who goes up

(05:56):
and it's like, hey, you'reall right. Well, to be honest,
to be honest, I was lookingat the video of some of the
clips later that people were posting, and I noticed when you're looking at that
way, you really can't hear alot of those like if you missed a
note here and there, but whenyou went them on stage, it's just
like, okay, I missed that. But you recover from it quick.
You go right back into it.Especially vocals, it's like, yeah,

(06:19):
oh you miss that. It's fine. People are singing in the audience.
We're able to do that. Yeah. Well. I talked to Psycho Stick
and like Professor Shot guy who wasthere performing in a few of the other
acts, including like I'm Twisted andwhoever else, and because I was just
kind of like so worried about it, like oh what if I fuck up
or whatever this and they're like,oh, one, you can just put
notes on the floor. No one'sgoing to see them because it's a three
foot stage yeah, and two likeno one sounds that good live, like

(06:44):
this isn't a studio thing, don'tworry about it. And I was like
okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's just a party. But but
I was nervous before we did therehearsals because I was just like, well,
when we all get in the room, what if these songs need a
lot of work, Like we needto practice them over and over and over.
But um, I mean considering ofthe songs were brand new, yeah,

(07:05):
yeah, and just to think like, okay, we played each of
those songs like you know, allthe way through like a few times.
Like each song except Hearts on Firewe only did twice. I think Mighty
Wings we only did twice. Ithink the Touch Yeah, the two new
ones, the two new ones wedid the most. We probably played them
each like five or six times. But we would do just these playthroughs and

(07:27):
was like, Okay, if wedid that the show, that's not bad
for just um, you know, meeting up and doing this. So um,
after the rehearsals, I felt alot more confident. So then it
was all about like all the checklistof all the other things that could go
wrong. It's like Okay, makesure that that amp sounds right, make
sure that uh, we have enoughcameras to cover it, because we wanted

(07:49):
to film it, which was nota problem because like everybody was filming.
But anyway, you go through thatchecklist and then it's like these pieces of
this puzzle coming together slowly and slowly, and then right before the moment,
all the pieces come together. Andthen I would say, like ten minutes
before the show started, I waslike, yeah, like we're ready to
do is We're all looking at eachother and we're all just everybody's got a

(08:11):
huge smile on their face, andand we went up there and then we
just did exactly what we hoped wewould do, and it was amazing.
Speaking of party, should we bringup what we did the night before you're
performed, because it's even more interestingsaying like you did this probably with a
massive headache. Oh yeah, Well, so we had the after part,

(08:33):
which I like to call them beforeparty. Not there games too many games?
Is a party con it is,It's just the way it is.
And one of the things because Isaid I made a rule because the first
con I went to I got drunkaccidentally, and it really was an accident
because I was pouring this punch andI was like, oh and also put
some remedy. It was the samething as like an after part in the

(08:54):
middle of the con. It waslike a Saturday night and uh and I
can hold a lot. So I'mlike, okay, we'll do you know.
I did one for Romena. Itdid two, and I'm like,
okay, this will be the lastone, and put some punge for Ramad.
Somebody says, you know, it'sVodkai in there, right, So
I had like six shots in thematter of like you know, like not
even two hours and stuff. AndI started slurring my words and everything hang

(09:15):
on him. It was it wasit was it the mood slim. I
don't think okay, So I can'tremember when it was. Shout out to
Steiner again. You shout the robwith the mood slim from Ghostbusters too.
But so my brother was there andhe's like, why don't you go back
to the room. I'll go backto the wrong Yeah, slur my words

(09:35):
and I walked. I slammed onthe bed and then my brother tells me,
well, you gotta get ready forthe panel. I'm like, what
are you talking about? It's likeit's eight am, and this was like
an earlier one, and I'm like, what do you talk about? I
just went to Bear. I gotno sleep at all. So I'm like,
okay, I'm never doing this again. Though it was by accident.
I had the sound check the nextday. Remember, I was you're never
doing a panel at eight am,or you're never drinking. It wasn't weird

(10:00):
time to have a paddle too.Admittedly everybody, if you ask everybody,
yeah, everybody felt the same one. Well, well, so so with
this one, you know, becauseI say, well, I'm never gonna
do it, but we always havea drink or something at a con,
but this one, there's so manypeople I haven't seen in years. It
was it was everybody's like first timeback. Yeah, yeah. And so
when everyone's buying us drinks, youknow constantly, Oh, stops, I'm

(10:20):
getting you a drink, James, get you a drinking, stuff like that,
and I'm not thinking I'm not havingwater with this, yeah, because
that's how I avoid hangover. AndI'm not keeping track that, you know,
I'm down all these and so likehalf of the next day in my
head was just boom boom, boom. Yeah, yeah, because I'm pretty
good at pacing myself. Yeah Iam too, Yeah, Like I can

(10:41):
usually just keep it like okay, look I'm spacing these lots, but when
so many people are coming up toyou just handing you like this and that,
like people even seen for so long. Yeah yeah. And then like
the drinks got more interesting as thenight went on, because people would come
out with these cans like stuff likethat, like like oh, I got
this helf of vice and you wantto try so it's like oh sure,
yeah you know yeah, people aretaking stuff out of their cars. There's

(11:01):
like coolers and stah. And Iwas because first it was just waiting at
the bar. And you know howlong it takes when you're at a bar
and like, oh what would theyhave like one bartender it's like five people
deep. Like it took like likelike someone waited there for like forty five
minutes for one drink. You knowwhich bar you mean? Would do the
bar inside the bar? Um thehotel lobby? Yeah yeah, because both
like it was the hotel lobby.Yeah, it was really backed up.

(11:24):
And I remember I ordered six oldfashions for this table and and they were
they looked at me like, ohmy god, are you serious? Six
six old bashions. So I didn't. I didn't. They were not happy
about it. To their credit, they were really good old. Yeah,
this one was a good bar.Yeah yeah, just like yeah, it's

(11:48):
a Christine because she's there every year, and I'm like, oh, like
the killer car right now, rememberthat? Really nice? But for me,
like I haven't turned off in aweek because I went for you know,
we're like loading trucks at like eightam, We're bringing things into the
convention center, and then as Igo, three o'clocks come up. I
got to go to Philly to practicerex viper, going back to the hotel

(12:09):
at one am, you know, and then doing it again, and like
I think I got maybe two hoursto sleep this entire weekend. And then
we're on stage where I'm m seeingstuff, we're loading stuff in. What
else did we do aside from therex viper? Yeah, I have mad
respect for people who run cons becauseI just cannot imagine doing that, especially

(12:30):
hearing like complaints and it gets pushedback or whatever. I mean, just
constantly putting out fire. I justcan't even imagine. I was making fun
of a brad Or a drummer ornew drummer Rex Viper. He came up.
He went the way is fucking awesome, insanely good. He is which
podcast comes out first? This oneor this one with Rex Viper? This
one does? Yeah, oh thiscomes out first? Well, then if

(12:52):
we're if we're saying that, Iwant to explain something. So hearing.
He did the keytar in the firsttwo songs, and then we had original.
You know a lot of people cameup to me this morning and you
playing with the rector. I'm like, dude, oh yeah, yeah,
I don't play the keytar. Idon't. Yeah. We played two songs
okay, it was Ken and Iplayed a Power of Love which someone and

(13:13):
we can't play it. I can'tremember how to play power of Love.
Okay, yeah, because we wereasking you to do the others and you
were, you know, just toobusy. I just yeah, yeah.
But but about about Jeff, Heplayed um drums on the first four songs,
um and uh. He he hasa job that just keeps him a
little too busy. And he washonest. He just said, hey,

(13:33):
guys, I don't really have timeto do this anymore. It's also drummer
with his own kid. And yeah, yeah, he lives on the West
coast, on the West coast, and he would have to take his vacation
time away from his job, sohe would he would have to take his
Christmas vacation just to be are notbut also like having a drum set in
a small apartment. It's like whenwhen you play drums, it's like even

(13:54):
if it's electronic drums, it's loud. And when you have roommates and stuff.
So basically the situation just didn't work. He was really honest and said,
hey, guys, um, youknow I'm not gonna have time to
do this anymore. So you guysare separated by countries. Yeah, he's
on the on the right coast, because we were going to fly him out
here. Um, now most ofus are in the northeast. Um,

(14:15):
well, we're all kind of inthe northeast, but to our super north
yea east. We are a Canadian, American British band. Yeah, another
one, another one that was formedout of quarantine. Um. You know
we did this over Uh, wedid this virtually before we did it live.
Um, so it was really trickyto get everybody out here. But

(14:35):
yeah, just saying like um ohand and yeah, so Brad replaced Jeff
and Dino replaced Kieran. Yeah yeah, because because Dino used to play in
Cheap Dinosaurs and he used to runa lot of shows and stuff, and
and he's crazy on the keyboards.Yeah, it's scientist. Every was great.

(14:58):
It was I loved every back endof the show. I didn't want
it to end. I know. That's all I've been hearing too, Like
everybody's just like you killed it.You killed it was great, Yeah,
it's dead, we killed you know. To bring up your point, like
when I went up to the brat, I was I was joshing with him,
the drummer, as we just said, and he was like, oh

(15:18):
man, I'm so tired. Iwas so crazy. I'm like, you're
tired. And I was like,I'll imagine you just show up to a
convention just to play one show, you know, not doing all this crap.
Guys. You guys had the biggestturnout. I think too. You
had you That whole entire room waspacked. I think it was the biggest
concert that weekend. I was what'sit called? I originally I was Jay

(15:41):
I saw it James Ronald and Iand we fist bumped and I was like,
let me run around to the otherside. It took me. I
had to actually go out walk allthe way to the other side because I
couldn't get through the crowd. Itwas so bad. I don't know,
I don't know how many people arein. There had to be like two
maybe like two thousand, maybe becauseI know that like during a panel,

(16:03):
you can fit like five hundred peoplein their chairs. But when everyone's like
crammed and one was ven people,I couldn't. I was like, holy
shit, Like from the stage,I just saw it just seemed to go
on and on and on, likelike I could second kind of see like
the light from a doorway in theback, but it was like I could
see heads, like it went allthe way to them. No, I
had to I was on the oneside. I had to walk all the

(16:26):
way around everything. I had togo all the way to the back of
the room and go behind everything toget to where you guys were. Yeah,
there's no open space. Yeah.It was crazy. And somebody got
engaged during Yeah, that's right.Yeah, we performed the Touch by Stambush
and they got engaged or after thatwe met them after the show. This
came up and we were kind oflike in disbelief, like, oh my

(16:48):
god, seriously, that's amazing.Yeah, And even like if I knew,
I would have brought him up onstage because I needed stuff to kill
time. I didn't realize maybe itwas afraid, like might say no,
I'm edge, Yeah you alsto wearingyour badge. I am still wearried.
I'm still wearing my badge professional.Yeah. Because we rolled out of the

(17:12):
oh yeah, I don't get recognizedas much because of the mask. It's
like what with like the staff, like like I'm like, hey, which
weighs the panel and they go,oh wait, are you here for the
Angry Viga Nerd panel? Like Iwas like, oh, yeah, that's
me. It's like oh yes,yes right right. Even before that though
I don't know if ever told youyou really are a master of disappearing,

(17:33):
because there's so when when we're atthe bar and this guy talking to us,
uh and because I think I wasgonna get your drinks like no,
no, the guy's fan and saysI'll get you the drinks. How many
It's like oh three old fashions. But it was just me and Brad Jones
there, so it's like, yeah, okay, and you were just there
and you just kind of disappeared, and I think he walked into the other
room and afterwards he brought up youknow, Jesse, Oh yeah, and

(17:56):
and uh, you know, Ireally love you guy. And Brand's like,
oh, so third one. It'slike where James go over there?
He's like James. He looks andhe says, who's the third drink for?
And I'm like, well, Ididn't want to tell you if,
but James Rolf has been behind, you know, right next to you for
like five minutes. He's like whatthe guy goes right here with them,
and I'm like, yeah, hewas right there like you are. I

(18:18):
think as my bald head, theyfind me very quickly and they'll they'll go
to me, but like half thetime they'll talk to me and they'll just
you're so good at searre, justblending in with the hat and stuff like
that, where it's like you vanishand then afterwards when you go somewhere,
I'm like, I love saying youknow, those James were all right there
right Like what what do you rememberthe time in the smoke shop? I
don't know oh that so. Sowe're getting some cigars and this guy recognize

(18:41):
we're both there, and a guyrecognize, oh, I love nostalgic big
fan like, and I'm looking atJames is right there. I'm like,
oh, well, what do youthink the angry video game nerd. It's
like, oh, he's okay,and then I'm like, like, he's
right there. He would see aginyea. He emailed. He was so

(19:03):
embarrassed. He was like, ohmy god, I'm so okay. It's
cool, but he e Then heemailed me after and it was like,
I'm so embarrassed. I didn't knowyou were standing there, and I really
do love your stuff and everything.I'm like, it's cool, that's cool.
My other favorite story, real fastis after it was Too Many Games,
a retro kind of It was oneof these and they had like the
Philadelphia Ghostbusters there, and you cameup and you saw them, like,

(19:27):
oh, what's Sam, I own'sthe Philadelphia Ghostbusters. He went, huh,
I'll be right back. You kindof disappeared, Okay, he's doing
James stuff whatever. I'm talking topeople, and suddenly you come back dressed
as Rick Miranda Is from the moviewith a little greater helmet, you know,
like you just had this, Iguess your heart, and you stayed
in character the whole time you didthey did the ricks face. Oh yeah,

(19:51):
there's a face. Yeah yeah,no you yeah that I just had
that. You were just quoting thelines, yeah yeah, around them.
Nobody recognized you. They just thoughtyou were part of the group because you
were so committed to being the RickMiranda's character. There. Oh, I
see, I committed that slore monologueto memory. Yeah. Um, yeah,

(20:11):
like I remembered at one point.I'm just gonna test myself, see
if I remember. I haven't triedto do it in like years. Yeah
yeah. Um goes through the Traveler, he will come in one of the
pre chosen forms. During the rectificationof all drown Eye, the Traveler came
as a large and moving torb. Then during the third reconciliation of the last
time the Ketric Supplicants, he showsthat of a new form, that of

(20:33):
a giant slore. Many SHUBs andzuls knew what it was to be roast
in the depths of a slore thatday. I can tell you that is
such a Dannachroid line. I guessso many people say, like they tried,
they tried to read his scripts, his lines, and they get you
know, tongue tied and stuff. It's like, oh, give me that,
He'll just read it perfectly. It'slike, yeah, do it just
like that, Like his dialogue isso crazy. Oh yeah like that.

(20:56):
Yeah. I mean, so that'simpressive if you can remember right now we
memorized just say it, because Iguess people can memorize it, but saying
it, they're like tongue twisters likethat one almost rhyme. Yeah I might
probably he was close enough, Ithink, but yeah. Yeah, it's
like it's like really weird, Likeyou think about how they wrote stuff like
that, like what made them? What is last of the mcktric supplicants and

(21:19):
like, yeah, well these thingslike yeah I think it's Dobin Spirit Guide
and stuff. They're all worth it. It's like you recognize them just enough,
but they're really difficult to say allyour extermination elimination needs. It's like
that's a tongue twist. Yeah, yeah, extermination and elimination needs. Yeah,
it's tricky, but I guess youguys want to talk about any like

(21:41):
crazy convention stories, you have somethingweird that happens. What's funny is I
can never remember like like a goodanswer, like I'm sure I think and
when we talk about it, butlike like I was telling him, from
working on, I've seen like, you know, a forklift just take out
like a garage door, stuff likethat. Um, I've been having in
this time. Um, let's seethis. Oh it was a bit of

(22:07):
a beer. We're gonna talk aboutbeer, and because Karen hasn't been drinking,
but this kind's like, you knowwhat, I'm gonna cut loose.
So I was so at the partylast night. They paid you. They
bet you ten dollars and you lickedthis like dead. So they bet me
ten bucks and they said, well, you know, I was like,
I forget even who brought it up. But they were like, oh and

(22:30):
it was just a tree. Itwas a Christmas tree and not a Christmas
It was dead. It was dead. Here's the picture of its brown.
Oh that look. So I lickedit. They they were like ten bucks
and you can't lick that tree.I was like, really, okay,
I'll do it for free. Yeahyeah yeah. So I was like yeah.
So I was like, wait, you're gonna pay me ten bucks to
lick it. Okay, why not? So I did? I gets like

(22:53):
a several reasons why not? Butcontinue? Then uh afterwards, I burned
the ten dollars in the fire. That's because I made a joke. I
just said, like, I'll giveyou, I'll give you five dollars to
burn, five dollars burn and thenyou kind I was like, well,
I got this ten dollars, willyou give me five dollars alcohol? But

(23:14):
don't you know, yeah, okay, if you burn your ten dollars bill
for five dollars, you're you're fivedollars down. Yeah, like yeah,
it doesn't yeah, yeah, it'slike I mean, it doesn't matter.
I guess like in the grand schemeof things, it doesn't matter. And
I don't even think that's legal toyou. I didn't do it myself.
I didn't burn it myself. Youhaven't have someone do it for me,

(23:37):
I said, I because I waslike a Complish's because I figured we talk
about this on the podcast at somepoint, and also one hundred thousand people
or whatever gonna see this and someonemight report me. I don't know.
So I was like, I can'tdo it myself. I need someone to
burn this for me. So thisone guys like that all through so but

(23:59):
you didn't think throw that that No, no, no, right now it
was like for the lulls. Butlike this dude was like, I'm like
I need someone to burn this tenbucks for me, and this one guy
goes, I'll do it, andhe just takes it and throws it immediately
like no thought, okay, Ijust did it. I'm like, well
there, we guy should bring upthat the hotel has a big fire pit.

(24:22):
Yeah, there's away like this isn'tone of the picture, this this
bit, you know, beautiful firepit. And then I didn't see I
didn't see it happen. But likeby the time that that, like I
made this suggestion and all that, and I saw what was going on.
I was like, so I didthat. And then and then people started
burning money like so so other peoplewere like I'm gonna burn money and they

(24:45):
threw it in and people were likegetting ready, and one guy burned twenty
bucks and then he looked like helike killed someone. He was like like,
oh my god, I feel sofucking bad for that poor fucking hotel
because it always after all the drinksand all the x y Z, like
people avenge to start just burning stuff. Everyone's in the lobby screaming at the

(25:08):
top of the money, and yougotta realize it's not just us in this
hotel. Randomly a drunken wedding partywill come in and now there's a bride
dancing around with like a hundred drunknerds and YouTubers. I forgot us.
So they're burning fucking money. SoI guess every wedding's burning money. Burned
the money. We burned the money. So also too, there was a

(25:30):
wedding that I guess they flipped aship or someone they killed. Okay,
so not only I'm running the funyou know, like like so I sing
Rexpiper and I'm doing that and I'mlike dying. I'm like falling apart after
it because I'm so tired. Andthen I go back to the hotel because
I have to run the karaoke atthe parties. So and so we're doing

(25:51):
that and people from the wedding keepcoming in to do the karaoke too,
and I'm like, okay, that'scool. At first they were everybody was
super nice. They signed up forKARRYO game is the first night last night?
Yeah, yeah, Saturday. Yeah, but what happened is the bride
and some other people came in andthey were like, oh, this karaoke
party, it's ours now. Wewant everyone else, we want this room

(26:11):
now. And we're like, thisis our this is our event because the
first night's like a party for likelike guests and people like that. In
the second nights for like vendors andtoo many games. Good money for this
and then burnt it. Yeah, and so it's weird. Like so like
like the wedding party comes in andthey're super like glad stuff. They're like,
okay, well if if if wecan't have the room, we don't

(26:33):
want you to have it. Sothey complain enough and they could. They
close and locked the room and we'relike so they pushed everyone back out into
the fire area and that and thenwhen I was like and that's when they
started burning money because they couldn't havekaraoke. So so here's what happened.
This is all happening behind the scenes. I love any story that ends with
that's why they started burning money becausethey couldn't have karaoke. So we're we're

(26:57):
we're in the thing. It's firstoff, it's me and and and Tommy
Loose uh and and yes his nameis legit Tommy Loose. So and him
sang on no Easy Way Out.He loves Rocky four, so we yeah,
yeah, he's like me and himwere doing the karaoke show and also
I'm I'm drunk, and and I'mI'm pretty stoned and that tree and you

(27:21):
as well. I am like Icome back. Everybody's like, Karen,
help run the karaoke. So meand Tommy Loose are sitting there and we're
like, you know, and I'mlike, hey, I want to do
the next song, and he's like, Okay, I'll do I'm gonna do
this song. Blah blah blah. We're talking and uh I did. Uh.
So me and him are doing thislike nineteen twenties lounge show, the
two of us because we're like messedup, and they put us in charge

(27:45):
of this karaoke show. And allthe people in the room are like,
who the fuck are these guys?Like they were not having it, and
I eventually was saying it like I'mlike, who what are you? What
are you guys here for? Whatare you doing in Like you're sitting in
this room. No one's responding atall. No one is reacting to anything

(28:06):
We're doing. People trying to relaxafter a date the show, and they're
sitting there like and and you know, he too, fucking you suck as
Its funny. It was great,it was fun let me tell you.
Oh, come on. So wedid the show and then uh, and
then they come up to us andthey say, hey, you need to
get everybody out of here because awedding is happening and the bride is crying

(28:30):
and all this stuff. So meanwhilethey put it on me. What did
you do to her? No?Nothing, So all I'm thinking is like,
oh my god, I made thisbride crying what sounds like not being
able to like, I guess haveher party or something like that. So
I'm sitting there like we rented theroom. That doesn't make any sense.
So that's the thing that was,Like, you have Kiaran who's been drinking

(28:52):
all night, and I'm sitting theretrying to like keep it together. There's
a karaoke party going, there's abunch of people that don't give a shit
about what is going on the wholetime. And then someone comes up to
me and says, by the way, you ruin someone's weddings. So I'm
like, that's not the shit, like yeah, yeah, So I'm just
sitting there like oh crap, andthen I have to be like, hey,

(29:14):
everybody get the fuck out of thisroom please, Like it was super
who's the next to get the fun? And that was the thing, like
I and then also too part ofthe wedding party was coming up and being
like, you didn't call my songyet I'm supposed to be doing. Joe.
So much respect for people that dokaraoke at bars because you imagine all

(29:37):
the drunken bullshit and people come upand say to you. Because this wasn't
like oh well, hey I'm asuper sound karaoke and I'm getting paid and
blah blah blah. It's being runby two drunk guys looking up with the
YouTube channel, looking like literally lookingup on YouTube to how to just kill
a man karaoke play. You know, it's not like a professional thing,

(29:57):
so it sucks when people come upto you and they're like, hey,
you didn't play my song. I'mlike, hey, man, I'm not
getting paid to do this. We'retrying at in good time. I was
like, yo, I just gothere and I'm also I'm under the influence
of things like please I used toscreaming. They assume that you're a professional
person, you're in a nice desk, and the stuff they don't realize.
Here, I have a stone, crazy drunk person who just licked a tree.

(30:19):
Stone, crazy drunk person tree.I don't know. I look at
you and I would assume that.I mean, I don't know. I
could just read people very good thatyou imagined to be one of those people,
like years Layer saying I was supposedto sing American Pie at the wedding.
Yeah, like, how how doyou get upset about that? I
hope to God that like my lifedoesn't crash from here. And I'm like,

(30:41):
you know, back in the day, I used to be I once
lickt a tree a good moment.Yeah, I mean, we've all had
our crazy drunken snatigans at conventions, either as a guest or as staff or
whatever. Because I knew I wasat Macfess one year, one of the
first years and for something I'd likethis panel about like Pokemon and stuff,
and they ad it on nine amon Sunday and saturdaynight, especially at Macfest

(31:03):
that is a party con like Iwas messed up, and I guess because
it's also like very dry there andstuff like I'm taking a shower in the
morning. I'm like, oh,it's eight fifty, i have ten minutes
to get down there. And I'mtaking a shower and I'm in the shower
and you know whatever, and Iowed my eyes and there's just blood,
oh everywhere, everywhere because what happenedwas my nose started bleeding and I was

(31:26):
closing my eyes so like, andI'm just rubbing blood because I think it's
so all over my body. Iturned off the shower and I'm like,
okay, what the So I'm like, I have to go down there.
It's a cost play. It's acost play. So I stoke to the
panel like twenty minutes late and coveredin blood. Really well, that's cool.

(31:48):
Nobody ever asked. They're just like, you know, what soon you
do you? And now you wouldn'tsay spoiler alert. You would say for
you know, viewers who have issueswith blood and gore and that stuff.
I'm gonna show a picture of Karen'sface after he destroyed it at MAGFest one
year, So yeah, your scarface. I never really talked about it.

(32:13):
I suppose should we do a topicright now? It called like times you
Fucked yourself up? Yeah, goahead, tell I have so many messed
up con stories you don't even know. Can we play a title right before
he goes? We put a titlestimes you fucked yourself fuck? Do you
guys have him? Or is itjust gonna be told? I told the
finger story and one that's right, cut my finger off? One? Oh,

(32:36):
and I was really I was probablyfive years old, I think.
I think in the podcast I saidthree, but I was five. Well,
no, it didn't come all theway off, but it was like
such a deep gash. It waslike hanging back and there's still a little
bit of a scar left. Andam I telling this? I guess I
have to tell it again now, just just to do it a b Yeah.

(32:57):
That bridge version of it is justum simple. Actually, it's just
like I was, you know,a young kid. I was stupid.
I was playing with an exercise bikeand um, I was like spinning the
pedal so that the sprockets were justlike you know, spinning, and I
stuck my hand in to stop it. Um and uh, it just sliced
right through my finger and then Ihad to go to the hospital my brother.

(33:20):
Same thing with the bike. Yeah, the little chain. It wasn't
the chain that did it, orwas it the pedal. It was the
like the spokes, like the likethe game like like ripped a good chunk
of this. Yeah. Wow,Wait, So is this how we fucked
ourselves up in general? Or fromfrom conventions? Oh? From any any

(33:40):
story where you fucked yourself up.So let's hear Karen's scarface story. God.
All right, so a few yearsback, what is this? Uh?
This was MAGFest twenty Yeah, somethinglike that, one of them.
Yeah. So I was in theroom. It was me, I'm with
us and my my friend Jamie, who is uh he did the artwork for

(34:05):
um the board, James boor Jamesblu Ray he does. He's an animator
and he's like one of the best. He's the guy who taught me how
to animate. I taught him howto use flash because I can't animate for
shit or draw. Me and himwere animal. We would just sit in
the room all the time in thedorms and uh he came out to MAGFest.

(34:27):
Me and him drove out. Itwas great. We had a great
time and one night we're all drinking, we're having some fun, and one
of my friends tells, Jamie,oh, Karen through your your moccasins off
the fucking the balcone. Yeah,Like because I didn't, because we're like
seventeen floors up. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, we're way up right.
So he's like, what, Karenthrough my moccasins? What why would

(34:52):
he do that? And he's freakingout right. So then he's like talking
to me, and I'm like,what, I didn't do that. I
don't I'm like sitting there and he'stalking to me and everything, and he's
like, that's it. I'm gonnasoup plex you. So he picks me
up and at the time, youknow, and I was I I weighed
like almost like three hundred pounds atone point. And he picks me up
and he can't lift me. He'she's not that strong. So he picks

(35:14):
me up. And if you've everbeen a MAGFest and you're in the gaylord
uh whatever it is, the thehotel, they got these beds that got
these like wood fred frames, andI fucking just fell. I face planted
onto the corner like this. Soso, and I don't know if you

(35:36):
can see it, but I acrossmy so I so I had a squaw
leon hurt from Final Fantasy eight stylescar across me. If you were like
an inch to the left or aninto the right, you would have lost
the fucking eye. Yeah. Soit goes from here across to my to
my cheek like this I didn't sayon the cheek. Yeah, you can't
see it too much here, butlike, uh, so I hit and

(36:00):
then you know, we're drinking orwhatever. And then I get up and
I'm like, and it's the songwhat's it called? White Lines? Bye?
Is it Grandmaster Flash? Yeah?It didn't shone on the day.
It's like white lines, visions dreamsof passion rolling through my mind. So
I'm like white lines and blood isand I'm like boring and justin hearing you

(36:22):
need to go to the hospital. And I'm like, white of skin hanging
like like a thread of skin justacross my face. White lines, a
sorry man, drawing through my mindand to Gary. So I don't my

(36:47):
mom's My mom watches the podcast justsaying so Mom, I'm sorry. Well
you've talked about a lot of things. I know my mom has said,
like, Karen, why did youtell people you you wrote that song fast
Car when you were on the toilet. Why did you say that? And
I'm like, my, come on, so this is how I got my
facial scar. I lied to you. Yeah, I told her something that

(37:09):
didn't involve me drinking. Honestly,I don't remember Hotel. I was a
drunk boy there. It is soyeah. So you look at it.
It's like like a horror movie, right, yeah, you look at it,
look like, oh wow, mygod, blood all everything. I

(37:30):
get a picture, good man.So Justin's like, okay, we gotta
go to the thing. So Justinbrings me downstairs. And there's these people
that are like, you know,MAGFest has medics, because shit happens in
MAGFest. I'm supposing I get downthere and they're just looking at like,
holy shit, dude, like yourface and I'm like, no, it's
cool. I know how to takecare of it. It's fine. And

(37:51):
I'm explaining because you want to putneo sporn at it. You're bleeding over.
You need stitches, give me somelaces. I can do this.
I didn't need I didn't need stitchesso so so, and they're like,
well, we can't do that. You have to go to the hospital or
we got to call an ambulance. And we're like, okay, so I
signed a paper with your blood. So they made sign a paper. I'm

(38:12):
like, no, I'm not doingany of that. And they're like,
well, you're gonna need to signa refusal of treatment form. So I
said, okay, you might neverheard that. It's not a normal thing
to you usually. So they makeyou fill out this ship and I'm dude,
I was so drunk when I filledout this form. I'm filling it
out and then I go to signit and I'm like, oh, and

(38:34):
I ripped the whole page in halfwith my signature, Like, I ripped
it in half, and they hadto hand me a second one out.
No, I just went crunch andI and I pointed the pen and it's
so hard that I tore the pagein half. What do you like the
hulk or something? I don't,dude, I was really drunk at the

(38:58):
time. Hulk paper. Yeah,so, so, oh my god.
I used to be like, youknow, and I'm not. I don't
do that much more anymore. It'sprobably I stopped drinking a whole lot.
Yeah, Well, look what happenedthe last weekend. It's a convention.
I didn't do anything. I wastotally fine. Everybody. Everybody had a
fun time with old Karen time.Oh my god, I used to just

(39:21):
really party hard at conventions. That'sthe thing you used to know, I
mean, you know, just likeyeah, I'm just saying there was also
Okay, that wasn't the night beforethat too. Your exit like was like,
oh my god, I don't knowabout it. Yeah, everybody told

(39:42):
me that you were like they werelike you talked about it apparently. Yeah.
Yeah. So, um uh,I think it was Zandra because I
was a little bit Zander brought meback. Zander brought you back and he
was walking you out, and umI remember I think yeah, Like I
asked him, as always, ishe okay? You got him? Like
and he was good. So hehe looked like pretty straight. And I
don't know, guys, I don'tdrink like crazy, I swear to god,

(40:04):
I don't. It's just convention.He was just a few drinks and
I was just I was just takingyou to talk. Yeah, so he's
he's taking you to your room orwhatever. He like, we're in we're
in the hotel. So it's likenot like you had to go far,
and I didn't drink that much. It's just that I haven't had anything to
drink in two months, so like, oh like tolerances, I have nothing,
yeah, because you usually don't drink. So I only had a few

(40:27):
drinks. So I was gone.So anyway, I gotta go. So
anyway, you're on your way outand then there's all these empty wine bottles
that they have a like decoration orsomething, and then it was kind of
interesting, like it was just likea bunch of wine bottle. It looked
like they sort of were just therefor like I know exactly because I don't
know. I want to hear it. Yeah, yeah, so you yes,

(40:47):
you don't remember. I was like, oh remember these wine bottles,
Karen, And I was like no, and they're like yeah, you were
like making a big deal about it. You come, you come through,
and like from what I remember, you were like like like you you were
mad that there wasn't wine in him, and you were just like this is
fucking bullshit. It's like he's tryingto walk it to your room. You're

(41:09):
done drinking. You're done. Nowthere's you're mad that you can't drink Like
six poles of wine that so theywere like, st oh, this dude,
oh boy laughed so hard after heleft. He laughed so hard.
It was yeah, yeah, everyonewas telling me about that. I'm so

(41:30):
embarrassed. I forget his name, but we talked to him for for a
long time. He was really cool. But like when he made him,
you made his day. Like hewas just laughing. I was like,
yeah, you made this one guylaugh and I was like, really,
oh Jesus Christ. I woke upthe next day and I didn't even like,
Oh, it was the worst. It was fun, too many games,

(41:52):
it was. I had a greattime the whole time. Yeah you
know, um wow, we're back. We're back at Coven. Okay,
all right, does anybody else likelike, just like they get fucking Doug
Walker to come from fucking Chicago toTocast. We can talk about movies or

(42:13):
being YouTube of three years and talkingabout we just actually do have a scarface
story, but it doesn't it doesn'tcompare to that one, like I actually
took a well you can see thenwhen you explain how it happens, it
just sounds stupid or stupid. Theymight have to kind of explain, well,
come on, okay, in collegeone time, Um, we're playing

(42:35):
in a strobe light. Um,that's kind of what I do sometimes as
a kid. I'd be like,yo, I got the strobe light,
let's check it out. And wewould just you know, turn out all
the other lights and then you know, strobing and everybody's like dancing and doing
like shit. And one of myfriends, you like, he stuck his
foot in a trash can by accident. I mean he stepped in it,
but then it was a metal trashcan, like a really hard one,

(42:57):
so he like lifted his foot upto take it off his foot, but
somehow my head like leaned in atthe same time, so the edge of
it just hit me in the eye. Oh and then it like you know,
you know because even the like thesmallest cut because it was just like
right over the eyebrow. Um,so they threw. I don't remember which
one it is, but there's aminor, minor scar if you look really
you don't even know exactly, yeahI haven't. I mean you have to

(43:20):
really stare to see it now.But um, so uh, you know,
you know, you even if youtake a small cut, you just
bleed a lot because you know, there's a lot of like it's like a
capillary. It's like pro wrestling. They'll cut themselves with like a razor in
like there like glove or whatever. They look like more scary and blood like
you like might look like the youknow, the blood's all over your face,
but it's really just one tiny likecut. So that that's what happened.

(43:42):
That everybody else saw it like inthe strobe light and was like holy
fuck, like a like, oh, yeah, you're going to see that.
That's a cool way to see.Yes. Yeah, So obviously we
turn the lights back on everybody.Everybody's like looking at me like, oh
my god. I'm like, oh, is it that bad? And it's
like and then I just like justpuddles of blood everywhere, and you know,
they they took me to the hospitaland then they you know, got
stitches. But I remember my friendswere like in the hospital with me,

(44:05):
like waiting and like, dude,we're gonna call you scarface now. And
then I was like, oh shit, my mom's gonna see this when I
come home. I mean, atthe time, I was staying in the
dorms, but sometimes I would comehome on the weekends and I came home
that weekend, and I didn't wanther to see it, so I put
a like a like a winter haton over and just kept it really low
in the eyebrow. And she waslike, oh, come on, it's

(44:30):
not that cold, and she likewent, she just grabbed pulled it off,
but the stitches were still in andthe stitches got kind of stuck in
the fabric. So when she pulledthe hat off my head, yeah,
it's just like pulling stitches, likeoh shit, yeah, Like I don't
remember if it bled then, butit like it pulled on the stitches and
then that's it. When she foundout, but she's like, oh my
god, like, oh my god, Like you're gonna have scars. It's

(44:52):
like, yeah, I mean mydad has scars. What's the big deal
I have? Like they kind oftie into each other, but I two
and then they're super quick. I'msorry mom. Uh one, and my
mom saw both of these. Thefirst one was when I was in like
first or second grade, plane onthe playground whatever and I fall and I

(45:12):
scrape my elbow all across and thiswas like a street though was on and
uh, it's say blood all overthe play whole arm is covered to where
it looks like I must have justreally like scratched this up. Get to
the hospital. I'm a little kid. I'm crying and everything. And we
get there. Thing's about that it'sactually not that bad. But there's a
little stone in there, and they'relike, well, okay, we gotta

(45:37):
we gotta go in there and takeout that stone. There's a little stone
into your elbow. I'm like, now, don't do that, do them.
I'm freaking out, don't do it. Don't do it, like well
okay, and then you know, and then we got to stitch it up
after we get the stone out, because it was almost like healing over and
like we got open it up,take it out and give stitches. I'm
like, no, I can't doit. And I put up such a
fuss. I guess my parents wentover. It's like, can you just

(46:00):
leave it in there? And they'relike, I mean, technically weekend,
are you okay? There's no realproblem or anything. So I do have
a little stone in my elbow. It's very hard to see, but they
got it out. Never got itout. So there's that. And then
years later, when I was inhigh school, I was opening like just
just some cookie dough. It's areally stupid thing, you know. But

(46:20):
I had like a really sharp knifeon opening it, and the night I
slip and it went boom right inmy thumb, like and I took it
out and getting blood, you know, going like that. Went to the
hospital. They I liked the factthat I never had stitches before, and
I'm looking at this. I mean, this is a big wound, and
They're like, You're gonna have toget stitches and I'm like, oh,

(46:40):
man, come on, I don'twant to go through this. They numb
it up. I don't feel youknow, you don't feel a thing.
It's like all numbed up and everything. I was like, oh guys,
this was really easy. It isnice. Why don't you get me?
Why'd you think stone out? Well, you're gonna listen to a crying kids.
So I kind of gave him ahard time after they left that stone
in there, But it is Ihave anything to point too, like,
yeah, there's just a dandy, tidy little stone in my elbow. Do

(47:04):
you do you even have the option? Like would you get it out if
you or you just you just don'tcare it just like I don't feel it
at all. I mean you canfeel a little bit when you rub your
for some reason, your story,oh it is real quick. Your story,
I think bothers me more than hisbecause just because the idea of like
a foreign object inside of your skinis like that, that is like unsettling.
Well, so we have something thatcommon. Okay, I have a

(47:25):
fucking pencil point right here too.You see that? Ye? So now
when when when you got it?There's a pencil point, it's stuck in
my skin, that's the question. So what happened was I sharpened a pencil.
I used to have one of thoseautomatic sharpeners, and I dropped the
pencil. I went try to grabit and when cup and then I pulled

(47:47):
it and the pencil point got stuck, and then I went, ar,
don't pop out, and then itnever did. My dad somehow he got
I can't remember how he got thesame thing like pencil. Then there was
a little bit in there, buthappened when he was a little kid.
So every time he shows it,it's like down here now, like it's
actually moved down. So this oneis never. It's never it's right there

(48:10):
and like, yeah, you cansee it. It's a it's a little
dot. You know what this is? Like, this is like that scene
in Jaws when they're in they're showingeach other the leaf a weapon with with
what's yeah yeah, yeah, yeahyeah, that's what I was drink to
your arms? Yeah. I lovein Loaded Weapon one, which is like

(48:34):
the parody of that with a anduh wait Amelia yeahs and Samuel Jackson.
What's it called. It's a NationalLampoon movie. Um, And there's a
scene where they're doing that him andthe girl and like he's like, oh
my arm blew off whatever, andshe opens her like chest and there's just
a like a mouse running on awheel as her new heart love. It's

(48:55):
pretty good, but ways, Ifuck my helf up aside from almost forty
years physically and mentally slowly. Um, when I was you know, like
when you're going down like a hilland you can like let go of,
like on a bike, the handlebarsand you just kind of like we and
your coast. I was learning howto do that and I hit a park

(49:16):
car going like going like thirty ona bike downhill. So I remember I
remember hitting it black and then I'mjust up and I'm just on my dining
room table, for some reason, all my back with lights and then all
my friends and my dad going likejust like you know, like in like
a war movie when like like agrenade goes off and you just hear that
that ringing sound like I'm all inhold duty and and like everyone's just like

(49:40):
talking to me, and I'm likewhat. And then and then later that
night we went to go see Hook. It was a real shitty day.
Look, I actually saw it againsomewhat recently, and it still holds up.
I like it. Yeah, atthis stuff that's easy to make,
Yeah, but it's fun. Partthe stuff that's good is so good.

(50:01):
I love the idea of knowing thepsychology of a grown up Peter Pan.
That's just fascinating. They did.I hacked the movies about Hook. It
just ripped on it for an hourand a half that I was like,
I love Hook. I feel attacked. Oh well, I remember when it
came out, like nobody liked itthen doesn't like it apparently. I don't

(50:22):
know what's for the promise because itgot bad reviews everything. And then I
saw it and I was like,I love this. I like I think
I saw in the theater actually, and and loved it. I thought then
years went different library I actually convincedmyself it was a bad movie because everybody
ships on it. And then Ijust saw it again, was like,
oh, yeah, this is stillgood. Yeah. I don't know.

(50:43):
I don't, I don't. Ireally don't get the issue. Do you
guys have any of the hook toyswhich I think we're based off. They
based on water World who used tocollect them a lot. Yeah, yeah,
no, no, no, no, the yeah yeah yeah. They
were like the Kevin Costner Robin Hoodfigures. Yeah that's oh yeah, and
um they made it. I don'tthink this probably wasn't the Kenner thing,

(51:05):
but they made a like a NERFblaster. It was like a hook NERF
blaster or like the Lost Boys usedjust to kill pirates or something. And
I remember I got it like thelike after seeing the movie. I was
like, oh, I want toget it. And it's like this tube
with like a big stick on theends. You just go bump bump and
it shoots and there's so much pressurebehind it, like that is a lethal
weapon. Really. I thought aboutbuying it on eBay or something. I
was like, oh, I wantI want to go back because that thing

(51:28):
was like scary, like chase yoursisters around. Like they also had that
thing where it was hook. Itwas his hand, but it had a
retractable like it was a knife orsomething. Yeah, it was a bunch
of things. What I love inthe commercial is that it's like, you
know, you showed the kids playingwith them and they have a little Rufio
toy there too, Yeah, andHook's just like yeah, out of the
way, Ruffio and he falls over. I'm like, well spoiler. Oh
god, I didn't even think aboutthat. Holy shit, that was not

(51:52):
for anything, but that was traumatizingRufio dying with Ruffio. I know,
Rufio, man, you shot theship too. It really He says that,
like he gets a lot of kidssaying that was like their first death.
I saw that movie the whole time. There's no stakes, and then

(52:13):
Rufio gets stabbed. And when he'slike sitting there and he's like he was
arrogant, I was like, itfucked up my whole thing, you know,
wow. Because I don't remember beingvery affected by his death, and
I don't remember being affected as muchwith Optimist Prime either, Like it just
wasn't like like these these like thesethese deaths that you see in films as
a child, like it doesn't Idon't know, I don't really have a

(52:36):
memory, you know what. Youknow what it is with Rufio. With
Rufio, the way the story isgoing, it's like, yeah, this
is about what should happen. Now. Even as a kid, I'm like,
this is probably what's gonna happen.I think it has something to do
with you know, if you haven'treally experienced deaths in your own life.
I'm not your own death, ofcourse, but you know, like like
like like like a loved one ora pet or something like that, and

(52:57):
you see death in movies. Itdoesn't have it doesn't resonate as much.
What does he say? I wishI had a dad like you. I
remember he also said, looky, looky, I got hooky. You think
you think he's got it. Youthink Rufio is down and he's and then
he gets oh stats And even whenI was a kid, I'm like,

(53:17):
oh he's gonna die now look thathe's got He's like I'm winning, like,
oh he's dad. But then itsucks too. Is like Rufio like
everything was cool for a minute,Like he's like you are the Pan everything
small, you know, and andthe thing is like Rufy is a dipshit
the whole movie. But then he'scool. He's cool the whole movie.
Even when he's like, now, screw Pan, It's like he is so

(53:40):
fas in that movie. It mightbe because so with me, Peter Pan.
The the one of my favorite Disneymovies is Peter Pan. So I
know Peter Pan is Peter Pan.You know. I'm like, so the
all time, like fucking Rufio, this guy, this guy, I don't
know, was he fucking talking shitthe whole movie? You know. I
was a little bit like, what'sup with him? He's see to me,

(54:00):
he was like the only lot hewas only kid actor, and that
I actually liked because I feel badbecause I don't think it's your kids,
But I don't I don't think it'sthe kid's fault. I think they were
told be cute, say it thiscute way where he was like, no,
I'm gonna be badass. I'm gonnaget a badass lost boy, And
maybe that was why they're like,no, we got me, Grufie'll look
really cool, like super cool.Yeah, And so maybe our kids got

(54:22):
to be all cute seeing and Ilike, what is it the You're a
rude, crude lude bag of preachingfood dude. He says, yeah,
yeah, a line that my brotherand I used to quote each other.
We would, like any sibling,we throw insults each other, and when
we culin thing is something, wejust go, you man, You're stupid,
stupid man. And when we sawhim, we're like, can you

(54:44):
just we used to quotessult it.Can you just say you man, you
stupid stupid man. He's like,I don't think I've said that one,
Okay, Like I always get youare the pan or Honor or something like
that. I never got you stupidman. Are such a good movie I
like. I like hook I don'tgive this shit. I don't really care.
I like shit movies. Though, everybody you want to do some fan

(55:07):
Q and A questions around this out, Sure, it's fan Q and a
fan Q and A. I gotsome fun ones here, I'll ask the
more um ones I think Doug willhave fun with. This one's from Liberated
Husky. At Liberated Husky, whichpart of the process is the most fun
for you guys, being in frontof the camera, behind it or post

(55:28):
production pose for me. I weirdlylove post editing. Yeah. I think
that's when you're seeing if it's workingyeah, or not if it doesn't.
I guess I'm a good enough editorwhere I'm like, Okay, if this
doesn't work, i can do somethingin editing to at least make it okay,
you know, like Noah, I'vegot at least in my eyes.
I'm sure a lot of people it'slike, yeah, it still sucks,
okay, but I can see itand still be okay with it, like

(55:52):
I'm proud enough of this. Weirdlythis, I guess Hitchcock was the same
way. The acting is where I'mlike, it's fine, that's my least
favorite. Okay. It's just thestuff in the middle. You're coming up
with the idea and then you're finalizingit, and then there's the stuff in
the middle. Yeah, I'm prettygood at editing, but you know,
it's like putting together a puzzle andgetting it together. But I wouldn't say

(56:12):
it's like my favorite part. Ido like acting in front of a camera,
like you know, like the Spawnclown or other things I've done over
the years. There's some other charactersI want to do it on the nerd
one day or whatever. But um, yeah, I think I think in
front of it is the most funfor me, but you know, we
can do all parts of it.Yeah, I'm probably the best in editing

(56:34):
and that, like because I'm notyou know, I know cameras and lights
and stuff, but not as technicallyas most people. So i'd probably say
acting it's it's like, um,somebody told me this once that when you
make a movie, it's you're makingthree movies, like you're making them.
There's a movie you make when you'rewriting it, and then there's a movie
you make when you're shooting it,because things become very different, you know,

(56:57):
you might have to compromise or changeor new ideas come about while you're
filming. And then the third movieswhen you're editing, and that's kind of
like the last chance you had tofix anything that's not working. A lot
of times it's like, all right, well the script's not really quite there,
but the actors will, they'll takecare of it, right, And
then it's like, oh man, that now the edit, the editor's got
to take care of it, andthat's finally the last I know who said

(57:21):
that one though, was George Lucas. Oh, well Star Wars as I
said it before it saved in editing, Yeah, it was. Yeah.
Well, And it's so strange whenyou get to a point where like you'll
have you know, like just sometimesI'll use reactions of like actors, actresses,
whatever, Like after I've said cutor something like them, they'll sort
of give a look or something likethat. But when I need a cutaway,

(57:43):
it's like, oh, they actuallylook very natural. I'll use that
even if they're not aware. Theycan't they think the camera's off, but
like it might be on for likea few more seconds. A lot of
times I won't even say cut.I love Penny Marshall apparently did this,
Like she'll just leave the camera onto see what people keep saying and doing,
And sometimes they will just do thefunniest stuff like they're waiting for cut,
and then they'll just make up somethingsome sort of weird word or reaction,

(58:06):
like a good chunk of a leagueof their own. Like a lot
of the funny lines before it cutsaway was just improvised because she didn't say
cut it right. What a you, Karen? You want to be in
front of the camera, behind thecamera or post production isn't as I'm an
animator. I like the post production. I am an animator. I love
working and after effects and things likethat. Um And as I've said too

(58:28):
even in the panel, my favoritething we ever did was the Resident Evil
Survivor episode where I put James intothe old cut scenes of the game of
the game and I had like, you know, and you also had like
the like the little claimation not claimation, but yeah, yeah, watch the
action figures and stuff, and Ifilmed that in here actually with the with

(58:51):
the toys. But one of myfavorite things was like when I see other
people's videos and everybody always puts thepart where what's his name Brad Vickers from
Reside Evil one is flying away andhe leaves the whole Stars team and James
is standing there and he goes,Wow, what an asshole. And it's
like I've seen that in other people'sResident Evil videos a bunch of times where

(59:13):
they're using the old cut scenes andyou just see James like Wow, what
an ass and I laugh and Iwas like, holy shit, Like it's
cool seeing stuff like that. Soit was like, because we we extensively
like story boarded that whole thing.Yeah, because we had to like film
it to the way the cut scenesand it was fun, I you know,

(59:34):
And it was all just because somebodywas like we were in the aut
business, and I was like, what do you put him in the old
cut scenes? And I was like, fuck, now I got to do
it, like I gotta I gottaget those cut scenes. So I recorded
them all and it was really fundoing that. And also to the action
figures and stuff was awesome. Iloved that episode. I had a really
good and Pepsiman too, and wedid all that. I got action figures

(59:54):
coming up in the Halloween that nerd. Yes. Yeah, all that kind
of stuff is I like doing.I like the green screen. I like
animating all that stuff. That's whatI'm not doing. Yeah. Yeah,
you'll have fun with this one guy. This one I actually shot the animation
itself because it was it's pretty simple. Yeah, but no you sent me
like, yeah, I saw yourlike files of it and I was like,

(01:00:14):
holy shit, it' stop motion.Yeah, but you'll be able to
loop stuff to make it big.Yeah, you'll know it's good. Did
you. By the way, didyou see a guy was walking around at
too many games as as Freddy butAnys Freddy. No I think I did?
Was that the sideways one? No? No, no, that guy

(01:00:35):
Dan actually as Dan Kitsu. Hehas like the nes Yeah he does like
the ans rights. Now this guywas, um, he was Freddy Krueger,
but he had the exact colors asthe ns Freddy Krueger. It was
that weird bright orange like stripes, like it's not the same Freddy Krueger.
How he looks. It was AnysFreddy Krueger. It's pretty funny. Well

(01:01:00):
game, so I guess behind infront or oh yeah, I don't know
because I like them all. Ohcool, thanks. I like performing,
you know, but it's like Ilike writing like that. I think that
the writing and the editing you cando it like at home, and the
shooting just depends on where you knowyou're trying to shoot it. So a

(01:01:21):
lot of times shooting involves a lotof uh, you know, moving parts.
There's a lot of people need toshow up, there's a lot of
equipment, there's lot props. There'slike so many things that go into the
shooting, things that need to bethere, and the traveling is the is
the worst part. I think. It's like, you know, The worst
thing is when you're like trying toget to a filming location and you're sitting
in traffic and it's like there's somuch stress leading up to it. So

(01:01:44):
I would say, if I wereto pick the part I like the least
would probably be the shooting actually, but I schedule intensive. Yeah, if
it's a film, I like theediting. You know what it is too,
It's that there's other people when you'rewriting it, when you're editing it,
it's just you. When there's otherpeople that you don't want to waste
their time, and it's like you'rethe person in charge, so you're just

(01:02:06):
like, oh man, I wantto make sure I'm not making them late
for something or whatever. So yeah, even if it goes well, there's
always the stressful like just keep itmoving, keep it moving. Yeah.
Yeah. The worst is when it'slike okay, well this guy's gotta go,
and this person's gotta go. Okay, who's got to go first,
like you know, and you're tryingto like schedule up fill the airport we
gotta get. It's also like anarmy. You gotta feed everyone. You

(01:02:27):
gotta make sure you're down to wherethey're supposed to be. Everyone's hitting their
marks. You can't waste everyone's time. I don't like anything that involves cameras.
I hate it. I'm cool withcomputers, but man, I fuck
cameras. Fuck you cameras. That'sfunny because today at the signing um,
everybody wanted the middle finger, liketo flip off the cameras and the guy

(01:02:50):
recording it with the guy taking thepicture, I was like, yeah,
fuck that camera. And after thatwe were just saying that. Everyone was
just like, yeah, we're fuckthat camera because what are you flipping off?
What are you actually supposed to be? But it's just a very popular
thing, especially even kids, likesomebody's they'll be parents that there was uh

(01:03:13):
parents that came with two little kids. One of them was like really small,
and um I was like, okay, flip the finger, you know.
And it was like and and wherethe point where she didn't even know
like exactly like she she was doingthis or did she do? It's like
yeah, and where the dad islike helping her to give the middle finger
in the picture. All right, there's my flair, okay, and this

(01:03:38):
is me expressing myself okay, Okay, So that's all the time. We
have for today on Cinemasker podcast.Tune in next Tuesday. All right now,
fuck those cameras, Fuck the CNXTuesday, and thanks for coming out,
Doug. Sorry just throwing the middlefinger at him. Thanks for listening
