Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yo yo, what is going on? My fellow wrestling fans.
Welcome to a brand new week, and welcome to a
brand new edition of what we like to call the
Clash of Champions, where we dive headfirst into all the controversies, personalities, storylines,
and everything in between that's center around this world we
know we love as professional wrestling for veteral word signed
(00:23):
your host, the vegan, you believe in Conscious Kurt Aka
the Professor and the flesh as always, and my co
host needs no introduction, but the hell with it. He's
about to give you all one anyway.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
That's Roy Ladies and gentlemen. This is tag team partner
Jonathan Randall, Leadventure himself at your guys' service, and welcome
to our soap opera that we like to call professional wrestling.
We're still on the road to wrestle many, ladies and gentlemen,
and it is heating up. Kurt, how have you been man,
I've been good.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
I had a pretty good birthday weekend Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
I hung out with my two best friends for my
birthday for the first time since two thousand and eight.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
That was great.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
We went to brunch, we had drinks. Yeah, we had
a good time.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
That's what's up. Man. I saw that you were celebring
your birthday. I hope you enjoyed it. Yeah, I did.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
It's one of the better birthdays I've had in a while.
The only downside for it was like on Monday, I
was like leaving a friend's house, so I was babysitting there.
Cat for I had to carry this like heavy ass
bag around like the whole day. But other than that,
it was a good birthday.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Oh for Oh dang.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah, because I was leaving my friend's house and I
was gonna go to my other friend's house later, but
I didn't really have time to drop a bag off,
so I had to carry it around with me all day.
And yeah, once you don't have a car and have
to carry a heavy bag, it's definitely not fun.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
But are you looking to get in a car soon
or not anytime soon?
Speaker 1 (01:41):
As long as I'm out here, I don't think I'm
gonna need a car like that. Oh with that a side, Yeah,
I ate really good. I drank really good. Yeah, I
had a good time, and especially the end of my
birthday night, I got to watch.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Raw oh yeah, and yeah, Raw was words cannot describe
how raw was this past Monday.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Oh yes, and it opened once again for the third
week in a row with Cody Rhodes and John Zena.
But unlike their last two segments, these two actually get
the gloves off and let each other have it.
Speaker 2 (02:14):
Yeah, that's right. You know, the past two weeks, ever
since you know, or three weeks or so that, ever
since John Zena turn heel, we really haven't. I mean
it's kind of like we saw like the same segments
from John Zena. We didn't really see that that that
real John Zena where he's like he's attacking his opponents
(02:36):
on the mic, burying them, and you know what, we
actually saw that finally.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Yeah, Like Cody basically dared, I'm like, yo, cook me,
give me your best shot. And then I was like, Yo,
I'm not gonna cook you. I'm gonna bury you. People
think that I bury talent. I don't bury talent. I
am talent. What I bury is mediocrity.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Yeah. But even though didn't matter how many times, you know,
John Zena went try to bury Cody Roads. Cody Rhoads
was on the roads, but he kept fighting back in
a segment, and I loved how he mentioned about how like,
you know what, the people chose me, unlike somebody who
was once in office who we don't who don't talk
(03:20):
about shows you and we know who he was talking about.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Yeah, he went into that. He went into how like
Sena created a bunch of disenfranchised fans who made it
easy for people like him to leave. And yeah, he
told him straight up like John, You're still my hero,
but you're still a piece of shit.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Right, But what do you thought about? But that one
part when Cody Rhods mentioned Vince McMahon about how like, look,
you know, the people chose me, you know, unlike somebody
who picked you, who was once in charge. I mean,
what do you thought I was cooking? It was funny
because I was. I was making dinner, you know, when
I was hearing the whole thing, and then when I
(03:57):
heard that, my jaw just dropped. I was like, oh,
oh wow, it's so funny.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Even before he dropped that line, seen him was even
getting cheers for some of the things he was saying
to Cody, like when he said, you tried to be
undeniable by trying to like, you know, take all of
my secrets. But then you ended up being underwhelming. When
I beat you at Russellmanni, you're just gonna be like
all those fans and they're gonna be forced to have,
you know, buy a toy belt from the w W
shop dot com. Yeah, he was letting Cody have it
(04:24):
with a lot of those lines. He was, you know,
spitting at him a boy like him being a copycat,
about him being like a second fiddle to what he
did and not even being able to do what is good.
But then when he hit him with that line about
how the fans chose me, but somebody in the office
chose you, who's not either year anymore, that was the
turning tide because there was Yeah, he was starting to
get some booze, but then once he said that line,
(04:46):
he got the crowd back instantly.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah. And you know what, and it's funny about this
this segment. Man, this is one thing that I noticed,
Like when you're watching John Zena, you know, you know,
in the past, any segments when he's you know, feuding
with somebody, usually Xena always gets the upper hand, he
gets the last say, and his opponent really doesn't have
much to say. But with this one, man like Cody
(05:12):
was literally just punching back and coming back no matter what.
I've never seen anything like this before.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah, I would say, other than seeing punks like a
decade ago, this is the best anyone has hung with
Sena on the micro Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Like I'm telling you, man, when he hit them with
the Vince McMahon thing, that was like whoa, But it
was true though. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
And then when he referenced like between you and I,
who was the one who actually sold out to the Rock?
Fucking a damn Rock reference for the first time in
the month.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
That's right, finally, because we have not heard anything about
the Rock ever since John Zena turn Hill pretty much
ever since Elimination Chamber, which has been what a month now,
So finally we get that reference for you know, about
the Rock and him, you know, selling out. So that's good.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Yeah, I mean, we'll see if they capitalize on it
in the next few weeks. But then after Cody smoked Sina,
Sina said in response, like I make empires for billionaires
and you just steal money from their children.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
Oh shit, wow.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
And then he talked about how like he takes any
garbage they give him and made it great and how
he's not irreplaceable and all this other jazz and Cody's
on it, not on his level. And then when he
tried to leave, Cody said, unlike you, they never chanteted me.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
You can't wrestle. That's that was That was another that
was another low blow right there, which is true. And
it was funny because you know, again, I'm making dinner
with my girlfriend as I'm hearing a segment and I,
you know, my girlfriend is really not a you know,
like a huge wrestling fan as I am. And then
she kind of like was confused about it, thought like, oh,
(06:54):
like what Cody said didn't make any sense. But I
told her it was like, babe, you gotta you don't understand.
It's okay you don't understand. And what Cody said was
very true, you know, to our vehwers. Because throughout the history,
man John Zena has been criticized for not being a
(07:15):
quote unquote good wrestler, for just pretty much just having
what five basic moves pretty much He's not a like,
like your your standard technical wrestler like we see back
in the day.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah, he got a lot of hate for that, and
also the fact that he just felt you know, fake
phony and forced and it kind of felt like he
was like a corporate puppet. So I'm happy that Cody
called him out of all those things. And then Cody
mentioned that one light about how we can't wrestle scene.
It came into the ring like you know, teasing a confrontation,
but then he acted like he was gonna walk away
(07:50):
then to hit Cody with a sucker punch, and then
Cody catches him and lays his ass out with the crossroads.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Finally we get that so conflict, physical conflict between each other,
you know, for Cody Royalty finally gets a little bit
of payback on him after what happened to him elimination chamber.
But seeing this is this was good. This is this
is what we need to see for this feud.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yeah, this is exactly what this fewud needed after how
stale the last two weeks were. This is in the
arm that this few needed to really feel like the
main event.
Speaker 2 (08:25):
Again, agreed, Now we're cooking. I don't know if.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Seen is going to make another appearance between now WrestleMania,
because that was his last advertised appearance, but hopefully he
can so that he can, you know, build up on
this a little more. But if that's the last segment
we get between the two of them between now and WrestleMania,
I can't really be mad at that.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
True, True, I kind of want to see another one, maybe,
just maybe, though, but I'm satisfied with what I saw.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
Yeah, it was a great segment. They both laid into
each other. And yeah, perhaps to Cody for rebounding from
the fans cheering for Sena throughout parts of the promo
and booing him, and he just got them right back instantly.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
That's how you.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
Know that he is legit no matter what the haters say.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Oh hell yeah. And then look, look, man, think about
all the people that Zena has went on toe to
toe on the mic big names, where Xena pretty much
got the upper hand, you know what I mean. And
you would think the same thing will happen in this
situation though, But no, not only did Cody Rhodes you know,
(09:31):
pretty much got the last say, but he got the
last say physically. He landed a crossroads on him at
the end of the segment. That's something that we rarely see.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
Yeah, he needed to after how badly Senor beat him
down at Elimination Chamber. He needed to do that to
him and if the Rock shows up, he needs to
lay his ass out with one two and then Travis
Scott shows his face again, he also needs to get
his ass. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:54):
John Cody Roads in an interview not too long ago
mention how like you know, if he does see him again,
he's gonna get his receipts, so I'm not surprised. So yeah, yeah,
But that was not the.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Only highlight of RO this past Monday, as we had
a match, non title match that is, between the World
heavyweight champion going through and Jimmy Usso. And this one
is about the way we expected it to But honestly.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
That really wasn't the talk. The match really wasn't really
the talk. It was what happened. That was like the
talk of the town.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
The match obviously went the way we thought it would,
no surprise going through one, but the way he won
in certain ways was a little bit surprising. How he
like power bombed Jimmy, but then he picked him up
as he was about to pin him. Then he hit
him with a clothes line and he was gonna pin him,
and then he picked him up again. Yeah, and then
eventually he put him in the sleeper and the referee
stopped the match. But yes, the real violence and the
(10:51):
real brutality of this segment came after the match, as
what happened after the match was more vicious and cruel
than anything I would have expected to have from this
old scenario.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Yeah, and you know it's funny, just like with the
shot in arm that Cody and John Zena needed, I
think this situation right here was like the shot in
the arm that this feud between Jay Usso and Gunter needed.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Yep, because Jay Whuso came out to save his brother
Jimmy as going to continue to the attack after the match,
and then Guntha ran into the crowd and as Jay
was like helping Jimmy to the back, Gunthro reappeared again
and knocked them both down, and then he tied Jay
into the ropes and then he proceeded to beat the
hell out of Jimmy some more with with a power bomb,
(11:39):
he threw him into the guard rail and then he
nailed them with the championship belt and this actually caused
Jimmy Wuso to bleed, and as he was bleeding, Gunthro
did not stop, He did not hold back. He hit
him with another power bomb, then trapped him in the
sleeper as he was bleeding profusely, and all Jay could
do was just stand there as.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
His literally brother. And it's very oh my god like
to describe that is very violent and horrifying, should I say,
because you know, as this is going on, jay USO
remember he's hand it wasn't handcuffed, so it was like
like a zip like at zip Tide or whatever that
he had attached to the rope. But regardless, so Jay
(12:21):
us still is trying to reach out and try to
grab hold of Gunther and Jimmy just trying to just
break free of this of him, you know, being trapped man.
And this is very similar to you go back to
two thousand and nine between Triple H and Randy Orton
where Triple H was handcuffed to the rope and then
you know, Randy Orton attacks Stephanie mcmahony and insult the injury.
(12:44):
She even kisses him. No, he he kisses her. I'm sorry,
but it's very similar to that and this situation, man,
it was. It was very horrifying. And you know, you
look at the photos where you know, Guther's holding up
Jimmy Usill's face and he's bleeding, showing showing off to
jay Uso like that. It's horrifying, it's violent. It was
(13:06):
it was surprised. I wasn't expecting this, but like I said,
this whole situation, what just happened, This is the shot
in the arm that that feud needed. Because let me
don't get me wrong, the feud has been okay, you know,
it was been good doing good though, but it kind
of got a little still a little bit. But this
is the one that the shot in arm that really
needed to enlighten this feud more. Yeah, and going through
(13:31):
was just channing j the whole time.
Speaker 1 (13:32):
He was even calling him a pussy if you could
hear oh the audio during parts of it, and wiped
the blood on his chest circle Broclessner, two thousand and three.
This is a vicious, cruel and heartless as I've ever seen.
Going through like this segment like really made me despise him.
Speaker 2 (13:50):
Honestly. Well, that's good, that's hill heat, that's what you
gotta do. That's what you gotta do, you know what
I mean, That's that's the name of the game. And
also just in general the past, like I don't know,
a few years on Raw. Mainly, I haven't seen anybody.
I haven't seen anything this violent like this before. Maybe
my memory is not that good, but I haven't recalled
(14:14):
seeing anything violent like this on RAW.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
I guess the closest thing I can think of was
when the Rock attacked Cody last year, like outside the
All State Arena.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Oh yeah, oh yeah that yeah, yeah true that one too.
Yeah yeah, But man, this wasn't I did not expect
to tune on to Netflix that Monday and then see
freaking you know Jimmie usso just beat until bloody pulp,
as the good old Jr. Used to say, But man
(14:46):
it was violent. It was. It was horrific. Nonetheless, But man,
I'm kind of curious what's gonna happen next week, man,
because now I'm really looking forward to this matchup more
than Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
This is exactly what this feud needed. And honestly, this
is by far the best angle they've done for this
feud ever since it started.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Yeah. I agree, don't get me wrong. Between the segments
that they have between each other early on during the
feud was good. But this one right here, whoa, this
one takes the cake?
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Yeah, and Jay, it was so Next week needs to
come out angry, heated, fired up. No walking through the audience,
no more yeating up and down, none of them.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
That he needs to be focused.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
He needs to be ready to throw down when he
sees going through next because yes, WrestleMania is right around
the corner. We got two weeks and after he beat
his brother down the way he did, no more games
need to be played.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
No more of that crap. You know, Jay was so
for like the past few weeks, has been geting a
lot of criticism on media a lot lately, and yeah,
like you said, he needs to come out swinging, moving
forward so oh big time.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
And I think a big reason why this segment was
such a success and why it played out so well
is because they were probably motivated by the fact that
they found out last Friday officially that they will not
be main eventing either night of WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (16:16):
Well it's not a surprise, I mean, and look, some
people have been complaining about it, and you know, some
people have been asking my opinion on it, and guys like,
this is not the first time this has happened. We
have seen Roy Rumble winners in the past that did
not main event at wrestle Mania. We've seen it. Big names, Raymonstereo, Undertaker,
(16:37):
John Zena. These are people who had won the Royal
Rumble but did not they were not in the main
event of WrestleMania.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
And it happens this will be the first time since
WrestleMania moved to two nights that neither were Rumble winner
is gonna headline either night of WrestleMania, right right, Also
first time periods in twenty eighteen because I and knackomore.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
And neither one of the main events that year.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
Oh yeah, yeh, that's a good point. This is a
great segment. It is exactly what this few needed to
kick in the high gear.
Speaker 2 (17:09):
And now I'm more excited.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
For this match again because I wasn't feeling it and
like the last I would say three weeks or so,
but now I'm actually after this match again.
Speaker 2 (17:17):
Yeah, because like I said, man, it was getting a
little stelle, you know what I mean. It was always,
you know, like Jays had a match and then Goon
through a will attack them from behind and you know,
beat them up. And we were seeing that for the
past couple of weeks, and it was, you know, it's
kind of getting a little stelle and boring, you know
what I mean, Like, come on, give us something a
little bit, you know, better, new, and this is what
we needed exactly.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
Yeah, they definitely delivered in this segment and I'm looking
forward to seeing what they do in the next two
weeks until WrestleMania and also when the Bed of Rod
we had Eo Sky and Ria Ripley for the Women's
World Championship and a rematch from their match last month,
with Bianca Bellair as the guest referee, and I kid you,
not the best looking referee attire I have ever seen.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
In my life. Oh god, you disagree, I've seen Okay,
like we haven't seen other females and referee attires. Well,
the only.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Person I can think who comes closest is probably.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
Trish Yeah, a long time ago. We have the match.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
At one point, Ria accidentally kicks Beyonca and she falls
out of the ring, and then Ria's about to finish
off Eo with the riptide. She has her pin down. Yeah,
Beianca's down outside she can't make the count. And then
later in the match, Ria is pounding on Eo and
then Bianca's trying to stop her, but Ria is ignoring her.
(18:34):
So then Bianca pulls a ken Shima from WrestleMania thirteen
and physically pulls Ria off Vio and this pisses off
you to the point where she hits Bianca and then
she ducks out of the way as EO Sky accidentally
hits Bianca with a drop kick from the top rope
and Beyonca at this point had enough called for the
bell and the match ends on a double disqualification.
Speaker 2 (18:54):
An EO Sky is still the world the Women's World Champion,
which is not a surprise. I mean, I knew that
something was gonna happen where she was going to retain
her title, but it's the chaos that happened within the
matches is the real talk. After this, Real Ripley loses
it attacks both Eel Sky and Bianca bel air and
(19:16):
both are laid out, with Real Ripley holding Eel Scott's
championship Belle as the show goes off the air crazy.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Yeah, she hit them both the riptides, including Bianca with
the riptide from the top rope, and yeah, she's now
gonna have a case for being added into the match
at WrestleMania because you know, the match in and out
of disqualification and I'm sure he's probably gonna demand to
go against both of them like she was doing last week.
So we are where this was eventually heading to.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
We move that this match.
Speaker 1 (19:45):
Wasn't going to have a definite winner, so Wed accomplished
what it needed.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
To at the end of the day, though, I mean,
I like the feud and it's getting it. The storyline
is better than no offense to Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair,
but this one has more juice in this storyline, So
it's not a surprise as it's gonna be. All three
women are going to be involved in this match. Again,
(20:09):
Yale's guy's being disrespected completely. It's not even funny, man,
It's not even funny how much disrespect she's getting from
from Ria Ripley and Bianca Bellair. Wow.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Yeah, But all I'm gonna say is, regardless of what
people think about the build and all that going into
this match, the match is going to be incredible once
it finally happens. Oh yeah, with these three women, you
know it's gonna be a rap.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
What I've and you know, I already saw what the
rumor plans are and I kind of knew this was
gonna happen, but it's most likely that this match will
be on Night two.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Yeah, makes sense. Honestly, this storyline not only has more
juice than Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte, then Naomi and Jade
Cargill storyline has more juice than Tiffany.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Strat That's true. Yeah, you're right.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Yeah. Naomi had a great vignette on that era on
Friday on SmackDown talking about proceed with caution. She was
even crying during most of it. And yeah, I'm liking
his look and new phase for Naomi. It's working. So yeah,
that match is probably gonna be made official. And also
on Raw last Monday, we did get another match made
(21:17):
official for wrestle Mania. It's gonna be aj Styles against
the douchebag fuck Logan Paul.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
Not surprised, Not surprised, Logan Paul looks like he has
a new finisher, Paul's Verizon. It's called Yeah, it looks
may look dope a minute. It looked nice Curt play move.
I've seen him do it before. It is a great move. Yeah. Yeah.
They had a great segment on Rob Monday where like.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
Logan Paul was trying to work to say that he
forgave AJ for what he did to him a few
weeks ago, and that AJ said, I forgive you for
being the biggest douchebag who's ever stepped into a to
BW ring.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Literally just took your vocabulary basically.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
I guess he was listening to this show shout out
to probably all right, but anyway, Yeah, so that the
official for WrestleMania.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
We're more than likely getting the War Raiders against the
New Day for the tag team titles, especially after what
we saw on Rob Monday where they had that face
off and the Pentum bron Breaker and dominic Ba Stereo
fourway is definitely happening after what we saw.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Especially after after Yeah, especially after the match because Finnbalad
got the pinfall and you felt like, look, I'm on
a hot streak right now towards Wrussell Manny more than ever.
So I'm gonna go to Adam Pierce. I'm gonna, you know,
ask for a title shot and then Live Morgan was
like wait a minute, now, wait, wait, he's just talking
about himself. What about you, dom what about you? You
(22:43):
did your part? Well, you know what, I'm going to
talk to Adam Pears and see if you could get
get a title shot too, So I we all know
this is going to happen. You know, next week, you
know they're gonna you know, demand, make their demands and everything,
and yeah, it's gonna be a fatal four way for
the Icy title. So I can't wait for that.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Yeah, and that damn Live Morgan is such a damn troublemaker.
Speaker 2 (23:03):
Well, I mean, I mean Live Morgan does have a case. Now,
I mean, come on, now, Finn Balor is not the
only one that deserves the title shot.
Speaker 1 (23:11):
Now, I mean, come on, she's just doing this four
attention and you know it.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Still though he she has a point, Come on, Phil Balar. Yeah,
I like Finn Ballard did everything on his own. No,
dom had his had a play in it too, now
come on, and even trying to recruit Penta to Judgment Day.
So come on.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yeah, that girl needs counseling. That's all I'm gonna say.
But yeah that I know that this truth between Finn
Balor and Dominic wasn't gonna last, and looks like Live
Morgan's gonna be the reason why. And next week we're
gonna see the fireworks and it's gonna be even more
explosive once we get to WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (23:49):
But I like this feud.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
I like this whole story they have with the four
of these guys, especially the tension between Pens and bron
Breaker after Breaker accidentally spirit him. And funny enough, that
was Penter's first Faulds since he's been in w W.
Speaker 2 (24:02):
Oh, you're right.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
And it came out last week from a vignette that
Pento's brother Ray Phoenix is going to be making his
debut on SmackDown this Friday.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Yeah, not a surprise that you know that he's coming
to w W after you know the news that we heard,
and there was another news that we heard recently that uh,
not surprised us all. It's really funny how last week
we were talking about rusef in our last week's episode
when we were reviewing russell Man at thirty one and
(24:35):
a couple of days yesterday actually has been revealed that
he has resigned with w W. E Rusif is coming back.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Yes, that came out yesterday. We'll see when he ends
up showing up. Maybe he'll be a guest referee for
the scene in Cody match. We can get his revenge
for ten years.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Oh yeah, yeah, possible.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Yeah, yeah, but it's good at they're keeping Ray Phoenix
and Penn so a part they can like forge their
own path because pens Is don't even fine on his
own being a singles I'm sure Ray Face is gonna
kill it two. So he let them be separate for
a while and let them do their own thing.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:12):
So, also on SmackDown Friday, we had the main event
segment the contract signing between CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and
Seth Rollins for the Triple Threat match, and CM Punk
was looking through the contract and Hayman told him, like,
what you're looking for, it's in there, and this match
will be the main event of Night one, and he
(25:33):
told Cmpunk, congratulations, you are officially a WrestleMania main events.
Speaker 2 (25:39):
Before all that happened, I loved before seeing Punk showed up.
I love the the little back and forth segment between
Seth Rowns and Roman Reigns at first, because remember they're
in London, and Seth pretty much reminded Roman of about, Hey,
you know the last time we were here, you know,
we came down the helicopter and you know, we were
(25:59):
doing business. We took the Undertaker out and you know
we were supposed to, you know, making names for each other,
and Roman cut them off, like, who's this We we
ended a long time ago, referring to that betrayal back
in twenty fourteen. We ended a long time ago? What
is this we stuff? I did all of this pretty much,
(26:21):
you know what I mean? And I love how, you know,
even though seeing Pupkins involved with this triple threat, I
love how there's still that tension between Roman and Seth,
which I was hoping that will be one on one note,
but still I still love how they're sat animosity between
each other after all these years.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Yeah, Roman was like, yo, I'm the one who made
this company more profitable than ever.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
I'm the one who made this company attractive to Netflix.
That was me.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
That wasn't your goofy outfit wearing ass.
Speaker 2 (26:53):
Let's not kid ourselves. That suit that Seth Seth was
rocking was fire.
Speaker 1 (26:56):
Though, yeah, I guess for him it was no, that's
what was fire.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
Now, come on, that's suits. I like that, so I
will rock back. But it wasn't fire.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
But what was not fire was Seth Rollins's reaction to
the news event event.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
I mean, can you blame him? I mean it's not
a surprise. Yes, yes, I can't blame him. The dude's
acting like a child, I know, but you shouldn't be
surprised though.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
He's getting the main event too, and he's gonna throw
a little fit over it is hatred for seeing Punk.
That hatred ship is not healthy. Him and with Morgan
both need to go to the same counselor because their
behavior is very disturbing.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
Oh god, I think Seth is worse. So he was like.
Speaker 1 (27:33):
Jumping up and down like a kid whose mom told
him he couldn't go to McDonald's. Yeah, this dude was
like having the meltdown, the end all meltdowns. And then
Roman's just sitting there saying like, Yo, you're welcome. You're
in the main event of WrestleMania because of me, and
this is gonna mark. Roman Reigns is tenth WrestleMania main event.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
So if you're looking carefully, Roman Reigns wanted to see
him Punk to think him. And if you look carefully
at the footage, Paul Hammon's right beside him, behind Roman,
and you could see ab lib that Paul Hyman's tone
Punk like don't oh, Kurt, something's up. Something up and.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
Then Punk gets on. He's like knees and say, is
thank you my tribal chief. I get to be in
the main event because if you thank you for all
you've done for this company. But that's not the favor
that I'm old and then the show ends.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
Let's not forget he called him now, he didn't just
call him his tribal chief. He even called him the
big dog. And that kind of upset a Roman a
little bit.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Yeah, I don't ever want to remember that era of
Roman reigns over again.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
And we had to remember that when we were we
were we watched Russell May, especially that.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Few with Baron Corbyn with a dog mascot and a
dog food that bullshit. Yeah, that's exactly what I want
to forget the most. But any yes, and we all
knew that this was gonna be the main event of
Night one, like when this soul feud started, no offense
to and jay Usso I know it's the title match,
but it's just not a bigger match than this.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
It's the feud, it's the storyline and also more importantly
the star power exactly.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
So now it remains to be seen what that favor
is that Hayman ows problem, it's.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
A title shot, Las. I'm been saying, as I've been
trying to tell everybody on social media, but everybody's like,
he does Paul Hayman have the you know, the power
to do that. Trust me, he has something up his
sleeve to make it happen. We just don't know. I'm
telling you it is a title shot, and it's funny.
How was it yesterday? On social media? There was a
(29:45):
segment during the summer twenty thirteen Ladies and Gentlemen between
seeing Punk and Paul Hammon. When seeing Punk kind of
want to separate himself from Paul Hamon, and in that segment,
Paul Hayman like, look, I know you want your space,
but look, my dream is to walk with you in
a ww championship match. My dream is to walk with
(30:08):
you in a championship match at WrestleMania. This is in
twenty thirteen, Ladies and gentlemen. I am a firm believer
of not just in wrestling, but and also in entertainment.
I'm a full believer of foreshadowing. This is clear foreshadowing
right here. We all know what the favor is. I've
been seeing this since day one, I mean, come on,
(30:31):
what has Punk been talking about for the past few months,
even during his feud with Drew McIntyre, about how he
wants to be champion and he wants to be in
a main event at WrestleMania. So this main event. Okay, cool,
I'm in a main event, but that's not all what
I want. Come on, now we all know what he's
talking about.
Speaker 1 (30:52):
It could be possible that the favor could be the
winner of this match gets to be in the main
event of ninet two and get added to the Cony
and Sena match, or maybe it's it's like a title
match at some Slam or somewhere else down the line.
Speaker 2 (31:06):
We'll see how this plays out.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
We still got two weeks until WrestleMania. Maybe we won't
even find out what the favor is until WrestleMania Night.
But only time I'll tell you, all right. But also,
it was announced last Friday that the first ever match
will be going into the ww Hall of Fame this year,
and that special match that will be going in this
year is Brett Hard and Stone Cold Steve Boston submission
(31:30):
match from WrestleMania thirteen.
Speaker 2 (31:32):
Yeah, congratulations to them, and also congratulations to the WW
you know, making that kind of decision because you know,
for a while, a lot of fans have been talking
about how, like, you know what, they need to start
putting implementing matches into the Hall of Famer. I was like,
I agree, I full hand agree with that, and they've
(31:53):
been listening to us, and finally they made it happen,
and this is the perfect match, the first match to
do it. I love it. I love this idea. Moving forward,
I think for next year, for the thirtieth anniversary, I
think they need to induct the Iron Man match between
Brett Hard and Shawn Michaels from Russell Man at twelve.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
They could, but there's better matches that they can induct
beyond that one, But that's another story. I'm just really
happy that this match is going in. It definitely deserves it,
not just because of how great the match was, but
because of the historical significance it had. The boom of
the Attitude era, a big part of it could be
credited to this match and the outcome of it. True,
(32:38):
And I hope they have Ken Shamrock involved in the
ceremony too. I hope he either like makes the speech
like before they come out Bretton and Austin or like
he's a part of it too in some way. Yeah,
he definitely deserves.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
To be there. So they're filled up. They're filled up
pretty much with their whole Hall of Fame. So no
more inductees, no man, no.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
But at least he can, like, you know, make the
speech for them before they come out. That's what I'm
saying that he could possibly do.
Speaker 2 (32:59):
I know, because you're talking about how you know, there
was a rumor that Ken Shamrock or maybe rumor to
be inducted though, but you know it didn't happen.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
But yeah, definitely a deserving match to go into the
Hall of Fame. I'm happy that it's gonna be the
first one. And yeah, we'll probably see you know, Undertaker
and Shawn Michaels from WrestleMania twenty five go in at
some point, or Hogan and Andre or Hogan in Rock.
But I don't think they're gonna be touching Hogan right
now because of how toxic he is, which we'll actually
(33:27):
get into in a few minutes with.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
The whole family drama.
Speaker 1 (33:29):
Oh god, yeah, so MESSI shit, But yeah, congrats the
Bread and Austin. So it looks like Austin's gonna be
around for WrestleMania that weekend because he's already signing autographs
at the World He's gonna get inducted into the Hall
of Fame for this match. Perhaps we'll see cameo during
the main event.
Speaker 2 (33:48):
I'm pretty like, Look, even before they did this whole
idea of putting implementing a match in the Hall of Fame,
I already knew that that Austin was going to be
here for Vegas. So it's not a surprise me if
he does show up at wrestle Mania. So yeah, looking
forward to it.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
But your hul Cogan's ex wife Linda went off on
this like really disturbing social media rat last week and
tears wilding out talking about how hul Cogan's a sex addict,
he ruined the whole family, and how like her daughter
doesn't talk to her anymore, her daughter hasn't talked to
her in seven years, and how she's lonely depressed. Yeah,
(34:28):
she just came off bat shit in this whole video.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
But Nick, he was talking about her son. Deck still
has his head on his shoulders.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
As she said, Nick, still a sweetheart, and I'll be honest,
it's really hard for me to feel bad for her,
especially after that crap she said a few years ago
about the George Floyd protesters, saying, Oh, what a surprise,
they're all black.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Oh wow, I don't even remember that. Wow. Yeah, that
dumb ass shit. She said.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
That's why Tony Kahan banned her and also Hogan from
ever coming to any aw shows.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
Yeah, So after that dumb shit, and also like, yeah,
just parts of what I've seen over the years, especially
on the reality show, it's like, jo, I can't really
feel sorry for this lady.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
And seeing what she said, Linda's daughter, Brooke Brooke.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Hogan we remember her very well, came out with a
seven page Instagram response basically talking about how toxic her
family is and they were so bad to the point
where she had the distance herself from them, even including
like financial benefits that she would receive from them by
being involved in the family. And she says she would
have normally ignored this, but the fact that she has
a family now and she wants to protect them at
(35:37):
all costs, like made her want to speak up. And
she just said that she loves her parents and she
wishes them well, but just for the way they behave
and the way they've been abusive to her over the years.
She can't really be around them like that, and she
has to keep her distance from them. And I have
to say, from reading the whole seven page response, she
came off very mature and just as somebody myself who's
(35:58):
like seeing a lot of fans any drama throughout my
life and gotten through it myself, I can understand why
she feels the way she does. And if that's the case,
she has every right to distance herself from Hogan his
ex wife, Linda et cetera. Yeah, she's well within her
rights to w.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
Yeah, I mean, no matter what, you know, family friend,
especially in family, you know, like if they're not benefiting
you mentally and emotionally, you know, you have to, you know,
have to set boundaries. Has got to, you know, cut
people off.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
So yeah, and then Linda tried to respond, saying that
she was never as abusive as a Brook made it
out to be, and how Hogan spent all this money
on her music career. He spent like millions of dollars
on her music career without any problems. Yeah, like it
wasn't much.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
Of a case.
Speaker 1 (36:43):
It wasn't much of a case at all. Even Brook's
husband spoke up. Even Brook's husband like spoke up and
said that, like they took pictures together once, all this
other bs and yeah he called her out on it. Well, yeah,
what a mess, bro And like, I from looking at
all this, I could see exactly why Brook wants a
distance or so from them, because they seem messy as hell.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:04):
Yeah, I think she even divorced Hogan, like all those
years ago, she divorced him and got with like Nick,
the son's like nineteen year old friend.
Speaker 2 (37:13):
Oh yeah, I remember that, Oh so weird son. Wow. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Brooke was also even getting into how like a lot
of the stuff that was going on in the family,
like a lot of the abuse she was dealing with
and all that everybody turned the blind eye to because
you know, it would affect their wallets, it would affect
their financial standings, and yeah, they just all turned the
blind eye to it. But she said, nope, I can't
do it no more. Yeah, because I think I heard
her talk about this a while ago, how like she
(37:39):
didn't go to Hogan's most recent wedding, and she just
said she had to keep her distance from you. Know
that part of the family. And yeah, seeing that, not
to mention the racist ran Hogan went on all those
years ago, that was probably another thing that made her
probably distance herself. So yeah, seeing the way Hogan's operated
over the years, and to a degree his ex wife also, Yeah,
(38:00):
fakes sense that Brooke wouldn't want to be around that shit,
especially considering that she has her own family.
Speaker 2 (38:06):
Exactly, you know, and especially you don't want to get
your own family around that, you know what I mean.
So you just got to protect yourself at all times,
you know.
Speaker 1 (38:13):
Yeah, definitely, and shout out to her. She seems mature,
She seems like she has her head on straight, and
I hope she stays on the right path because she
definitely seems more mature and more stable than her damn
parents do. All right, but that's another story. But we
want to send our best wishes out to Mick Foley
as just the other day it came out that he
got into a car accident and stuff for a mini
(38:34):
concussion from the car accident.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Oh no, and he's according to my friend who lives
out here in Vegas. According to him, he's scheduled to
do I think he's scheduled to do some autographed signings
here in Vegas during wrestle Mania Week. I believe it
makes sense.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
I met at mccomic con six months ago, and I
just watched this Dark Side of the Ring episode last week,
the one about the Hell and the sew with you
with the Undertaker.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
It was good. I mean, it was mostly stuff you
already knew.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
But the one thing that was disturbing, especially afterwards, just
came out the other day is how like he's afraid of, like,
you know, how much he's gonna remember ten years from now.
His kids were also talking about that too, so like
the way he kind of tries to keep his memory
sharp is by doing those stand up comedy shows that
he does.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
Oh okay, yeah, So it was a good episode.
Speaker 1 (39:24):
Like I said, it was like stuff you already knew,
but it was kind of like more or less a
documentary about Mick Foley more than anything else. But the
lug Borger episode that dropped this week was also very disturbing.
I see whomember Lumit Borger right from WW like in
ninety three ish, who was he again?
Speaker 2 (39:44):
Three?
Speaker 1 (39:45):
He was from Finland. He was like feuding with Lex Luger.
Around the time Lex Luger was doing.
Speaker 2 (39:49):
The whole Made in the USA character touching there, it's
getting there. It sounds familiar. As soon as he said Finland,
I'm like, Okay, we're getting somewhere. He does. It does
sound familiar to me.
Speaker 1 (40:03):
I'll show you a picture of him. But yeah, he
was in WW like in that latter part of ninety three.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Yeah, he was even the one who ended Tatanka's undefeated streak.
Should have been Rick Martel.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
The most disturbing thing about this dude is that he
had like a he had like a Nazi tattoo, like
on his calf muscle.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Oh god. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:25):
And also like he ran for like office in Finland
after he got deported out of America for getting in trouble.
He really, Yeah, he ran for office in Finland and
he got and he got elected. And like his views
and his like and like the things he would say
were very Donald Trump like to say.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
The least was this. This is after his wrestling career
and he went into politics.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Yeah, he went into politics in Finland, and yeah, he
was like very controversial, Like he didn't hold anything back
when he said what he said, Like he would always
drop the n word. He would always talk about how
like women's places is only in the kitchen, like that
kind of bullshit. Yeah, he was very like you know,
people have the stereoti Donald Trump supporter or like kind
of Donald Trump in a sense, that's exactly what he was.
But like in Finland as opposed to America.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
What happened to him? Now, oh he's dead. He killed
himself when it just happened. Oh wow?
Speaker 1 (41:16):
Yeah? Not a very liked person. Yeah, not a very
likable person.
Speaker 2 (41:20):
No, I mean all that stuff you're saying. No, I mean.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
Yeah, w who work with him also said he was
an asshole, which explains why he didn't last very long.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Wow, here's what it is.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
If you're that kind of person, if you like spew
that kind of hate and that kind of negativity, you
can't really say anything when people don't feel sad for
you when it comes back at you. Yeah, so was
what it was in that case. And you know there's
wore Strickland and Booker t issue is getting out of hand.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
I'm telling you right now, man, I it's it's just
on the aew side. I just hate how they want
want to just what not necessarily nitpick, but they just
they just don't know how to stay in their damn
lane and they're always criticizing certain people from w W.
There's just like, what does that have to do with you?
(42:12):
I sir, strictly, Look, I get it that you were
let go by w W. I'm sorry, and I get
that things didn't work out. Stuff doesn't work out for everybody,
no matter what company that you're working for. But to
talk about Booker T and everybody else rent free, it's
it's disturbing. Man. I don't like that whatsoever.
Speaker 1 (42:33):
Yeah, him using the segment where like Vince dropped the
N word in front of seeing n Booker T. I
feel like that was a weak argument. He could have
maybe used a different argument, like the Triple Booker T feud, like.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
Maybe that, Like I said, that was stupid because that
was a segment and you can't it's not like, oh,
you're gonna expect you know, him to like oh he
says that and he lashes out and during a segment
that a plan segment, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (42:59):
So well, like I said, that was what it was
a weak argument. It was stupid. I just don't like
how he just seem wants to nitpick and just talk
about ww rent Free. You're not working there anymore. You're
more successful where you're at right now, So stop talking
about the company that laid you off because whatever reason
(43:20):
did not work out for you, Get over it. Yeah.
Booker T even.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Had a response and he said that he actually met
with Swerve in person recently.
Speaker 2 (43:28):
Oh yeah, yeah, and he told.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
Like Swerve basically that he played himself by going on
Vlad TV because dj vladds kind of like the Tories
for being like a culture vulture, and I kind of
like getting the people he interviews to like say things
to get themselves in trouble. So like a lot of
people feel like he's like a spy.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
For the FEDS things along those lines. Wow.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
And Booker T even said like he Vlad asked him
to be on the show once and he said no
because of knowing what Vlad's all about.
Speaker 2 (43:54):
So yeah, that was basically Booker T's response to.
Speaker 1 (43:57):
Swerve is that that he played himself by going on
that show.
Speaker 2 (44:00):
So the one thing that I will say.
Speaker 1 (44:01):
About Booker T that I don't agree with a lot
of the time is that he kind of like always
takes WWE's side, even in the scenarios where they're wrong.
Speaker 2 (44:10):
Yeah, I've it's been documented over the years. It's been
documentary over heres. That is true. Yeah, I mean part
of me feels that, like he looked, he just doesn't
want to like get in trouble or doesn't want it,
you know what I mean, because yeah, you are working
for the company, but he just doesn't want to like
step on their toes in a way.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Yeah, because he mentioned that like his experience in WW
was mostly positive. He did great in WW, and yeah,
He's right, he did from the time he came in
as a part of the invasion storyline. He was one
of the few people from like the Alliance side that
was actually you know, making noise and actually and actually
had like a spot in the company like for years
after that, Like he was like a lot of those
does from the Alliance like faded away and like you know,
(44:50):
didn't do much, but he was one of those few
people who actually had a stable career in WW from
those years after. Because maybe I feel like from the
Vibebye God from him is that he was willing to
adapt to the w W style.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Yeah, And also, like Bruce Pritcher I always say, and
I love when he says this, he has a factor.
He does, Yeah, he really does. He has that charisma. Man,
He's just he has it. Where you have it, the
crowd is gonna attach. They're gonna attach it to you.
They're gonna attached to you. Man. So that's what he had. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (45:23):
But I hope swerve Wednesday AW Championship this Sunday from
John Moxley and ends this whole Death Riders storyline once
and for all because it has been one of the
worst parts of the show in like the last six months.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
Look death something, death Riders, death stroke, whatever death match.
They need to stop that death match crap in aw,
I'm serious, Good luck.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
With that, good luck with getting this.
Speaker 2 (45:45):
God. I just oh, yeah, it's overkilled. I get it.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
Yeah, it is overkilled.
Speaker 2 (45:52):
Like what am I watching? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (45:55):
Like sometimes it works, like you know in the segment
with Gloomther and Jimmy Husso on Rob Monday, Like in
a situation like that, the blood works, the violence works.
But when you do it, you do it in every
single last segment and every single last match, it doesn't
feel special anymore.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
It doesn't stand out and and only that is just
a certain like moves that you do in the match, Like,
bro you put a whole spike like baseball bat, like
literally down in your spine. You know how deep that
that that laceration was so stuff like that, It was
very deep. I'm sorry to going. I'm sorry if I'm
(46:31):
being too draftful for you, but it was really, it
was really it was in that deep dude, like it's
not that serious. It's stuff like that where it's like
like seriously, Yeah, the more you.
Speaker 1 (46:44):
Watch these John Moxley matches, the more you start to
think that maybe brock Lesner had a point and not
wanted to go along with some of his ideas in
that WrestleMania thirty two match. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Yeah, But I like Booker T and Swerve Strickland also.
I think they both have I.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Would say, valid arguments to a degree, but admittedly so
like Swerve Strickland's case for only being fired because he
was black, that's not an argument.
Speaker 2 (47:16):
I think that has a lot of marriage. How many
employees in WWE over the years have we seen let
go all that right? And what race were they court?
They were all different races, thank you, thank you. But
(47:36):
I will say.
Speaker 1 (47:37):
The black male wrestlers in NXT are doing a lot
better than the black male wrestlers.
Speaker 2 (47:43):
On the band Blaster right now. That is that is
very true and very well documented. Has been very well
documented over the past several years. They'll do so well
on the NXT roster, but as soon as they jump
ship to the main roster, it's just it goes completely downhill. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
But but the one thing I will say that Sar
does have a point. There is like a lack of
like main event level black male superstars in the main
roster in WW right now, you do have a point
compared to the NXT and also compared to a w Yeah,
there is a lack of it. The women are doing
well like Bianca, Jay, Naomi, et cetera. But as far
as the men go, there is avoid of that.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
That is true. That is very true, and I I
hate to see it. And these are people, Kurt, who
were doing very well on the NXT roster. These are
black male superstars that were former NXT World champions. Carmelo Hayes,
Oh he's not even with us no more.
Speaker 1 (48:44):
Carmelo Hayes did well. Biggie was the NXT champion, but
that was like a long time ago.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
I know, just somebody else for Keith Lee. Sorry, oh
yeah Keith Lee. But yeah, Keith Lee has been out
for years. He's has a lot of health problems, so yeah,
I know. But like you saw what happened when he
went to the main roster. It was just like, whoa,
this is not the same vibe.
Speaker 1 (49:04):
No, I wasn't, but that was like more of like
a Vince McMahon, like just fucking with the NXT talent
in a way to send a message to Triple H. Probably,
But as far as right now goes, I'm not gonna
accuse WW of being racist or holding down the black wrestlers.
But admittedly it is noticeable that there's not many black
male main eventors, like high level top guys in WW
(49:27):
right now.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
And these are there's a couple of people I'm seeing
on a roster currently. I'm like, okay, I push him
a little bit more, you know what I mean. Carmelo
his is a prime example. I've always been a fan
of them, right for Okay, for example, right l A.
Knight is going to be most likely it's gonna be
at Russell Mania. Yes, of course it's.
Speaker 1 (49:48):
Probably gonna be him, Stroman and Jacob Botsu like in
a three way. Maybe they'll add Solo Cica into it possibly,
but I think that's probably where it's heading with that.
Speaker 2 (49:58):
Yeah, I just wish that that Carmelo could like fit
somewhere in it, because he had a great match with
rand Yorton a few weeks ago, and when I saw that,
I was like, Okay, he worked very well with a
veteran pushing.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Well, see if he gets pushed the only time will tell.
But before we get out of here, we're gonna we're
running a little little on time for this week. But
before we get out of here, I want to send
my best wishes and condolences to the family of Valcimer,
very famous actor. I know you're a big fan of his.
He passed away this past tuesday. You know, he's been
sick and dealing with health problems for the last few years,
(50:38):
including the fact that when he had that one scene
in Top Gun Maverick, he couldn't even talk.
Speaker 2 (50:43):
Although it was a good scene, the scene.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
They used him for, there was noticeople that he couldn't
talk the entire time, And unfortunately, those health problems seem
to have caught up to him and he's no longer
with us.
Speaker 2 (50:55):
I was watching a little shirt little segment on him
Good Morning Football on the NFL network, and he was
talking about how important Val Kilmer as an actor was
to him pretty much grown up. He pretty much made
it clear Val Kilmer didn't have to be those actors
(51:16):
where I have to just steal the show, like you know,
like in a game where well I have to be
the quarterback or the leader. You could be the second
actor or whoever. You don't have to be the lead
an actor. You could be about the second or third
actor and still dominate your role or a character that
(51:38):
you in. And it's been well documented, whether if you're
a fan of him and Batman Forever like How I Am,
or Tombstone or Top Gun or the movie heat Hell
he did. He even did a great job in the
Prince of Egypt. If you guys ever seen that movie,
I highly recommend to watch it. He knows how to
(51:58):
fit in that role, just dominate and just a very
well rounded actor. I was just watching Tombstone earlier today
and I forgot how good that movie was, Like, oh
my god, Like I look back at that movie. Valcilmer
should have won an Oscar for that role. In my opinion, interesting,
(52:20):
very good movie. He did very well that role in
that movie very well.
Speaker 1 (52:24):
I haven't watched it in a while. I'm definitely gonna
watch it sometime this weekend.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
Yeah, I watch it. I forgot how good that movie was.
But and look, when I think about Val Kilmer, I
think about Top Gun. But the very first movie that
I think about is Batman Forever, because how much that
movie meant to me as a kid, as a childhood.
And I don't care what anybody has to say, Oh
it's not good, I don't care it is mixed, I
(52:49):
get it. But I love that movie till this day,
after thirty years, I still love this movie. And that's
the first thing that I think about when I hear
Val Kilmer. I think about Batman Forever. He is not
compared to Michael Keaton or Christian Bell, but he was
a little bit of an underrated good Batman. He still
(53:10):
did well with it, and it is sad that he
is gone with all the health issues that he went through.
And that scene in Top Gun Maverick was very Oh
my god, that was a very emotional scene in that movie.
But yeah, Val Kimber will be missed, and he is
a damn good actor, very very damn good actor. Man.
Speaker 1 (53:32):
Yeah, he had a great resume. He put on some
great performances. Probably the one that stands out to me
the most because I probably liked the movie the most,
is he He definitely added a lot to that movie,
even with Robert de Niro and al Pacino being the
two main characters, I think.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
He added to it too.
Speaker 1 (53:48):
And yeah, Batman Forever, I'm not personally the biggest fan of,
but I do obviously remember him from that and he
wasn't a bad Batman by any stretch. It was just
like maybe the presentation of the movie that was my issue. Yeah,
he was a pretty good Batman in that sense. Bruce
Wayne for that matter. Yeah, especially in the Top Guns,
especially that first one with like him and Tom Cruise
having that kind of like rivalry throughout the movie, but
(54:09):
then they become cool towards the end. Yeah, He's been
in a lot of memorable movies, a lot of major roles.
And yeah, it's unfortunate that, you know, he was taken
from us so soon, and that he's gone as soon
as he is.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
Five he's only sixty five. Yeah, but it looks like
he lived a full life and lived.
Speaker 1 (54:26):
A life for them worth remembering, and for that, he
definitely deserves to be talked about on the show. And
I know we didn't know him personally, but from a
movie perspective, from a performance perspective.
Speaker 2 (54:39):
From us, we know him the fans. He will be
missed definitely. And it's funny how you mentioned those big
names that he that he was in movies with, but
yet he's still like look, character that he did still
held his own. We're like, we talk about he, we
talk about Robert de Niro and Al Pacino, but like,
(54:59):
at the same time, I'm like, dude, Valkilmer did a
good job or Top Gun. Yeah, Tom Cruise is the
leading actor, but wow, Val Kilmer as ice Iceman in
that role, you know, like whoa like, he did a
good job too, you know what I mean. So that's
the type of actor that he was, you know what
I mean. And there's nothing wrong. You don't have to
be Look, the bottom line is, you don't have to
(55:21):
be the leading actor to be a good actor. I
don't know you though, There's.
Speaker 1 (55:25):
Been plenty of movie I've seen where the person who
was a supporting actor, supporting character in the movie was
the more standout part.
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Of the movie.
Speaker 1 (55:33):
Look at Patti and Goodfellas. Prime example.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
Heath Ledger.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
Heth Ledger is the joker in Yeah Dark Knight. Also
Whoopi Goldberg and Ghos. Another example from a female side. Yeah,
I was creepy. I was staying in Brooklyn last week
in this neighborhood called Bushwick. The train station. I was
going into the go take the train of the city,
that train stop. That area where it is is the
exact area where the scene was with that Willie Lopez
(56:00):
dude dies and then gets taken away by the demon ghost.
Speaker 2 (56:02):
Oh my god, that was a very scene.
Speaker 1 (56:04):
That was creepy as out. That scene made me always
want to be a good person. Yeah all right, bro,
guys were ready out of time. It's been great chatting
it up with you guys, and next week will be
our special wrestling review rewind episode about WrestleMania twenty one.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
The anniversary of that show is actually great. And guess
what I have right beside me, Kurt, What do you
have beside you? Oh? Shit, the original DVD that I
still have to this day twenty years Do you even
still have a DVD player? Yeah? I have my Xbox. Okay,
fair enough. Yeah, I wouldn't mind watching the original one
with the original music. I don't out look, I'm not Look, guys,
(56:46):
I'm not like everybody else where, like oh I have
to stream everything to watch stuff Like No, I still
have a collection of physical DVDs that I still want
to watch where I don't have to pay in order
to stream stuff, you know what I mean. I'm not
like that. It's like there's certain movies where I was like, well, damn,
I got a page just in order to watch this
(57:06):
on streaming, or I could just you know, if I
like the movie that damn much, I'm gonna buy the
damn things.
Speaker 1 (57:11):
