Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yo, yo, what is going on? My fellow wrestling fans.
Welcome to a brand new week and welcome to a
post SummerSlam edition of what we like to call the
Clash of Champions, where we dive headfirst into all the storylines, controversies,
and personalities that center around this world we know we
love as professional wrestling for better world words. I'm your host,
(00:21):
the vegan you believe in conscious Kurt aka Kerr GPT,
the professor in the flesh as always, and my co
host needs no introduction, but the hell with it. He's
about to give y'all one anywhere.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
That's right, ladies and gentlemen. This is Jonathan Randall Adventure
himself and welcome to our soap opera known as Professional Wrestling,
to our podcast, ladies and gentlemen, and we're coming off
the heels of amazing SummerSlam weekend. Kurt, you were there
Live and Love with Color. I know you had a
great time, and today this is our recap show, and boy,
we have a lot to talk about.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Yes we do.
Speaker 1 (00:52):
We have a lot to talk about, a lot to
dive into, and yeah, just being there personally for the
first time in so long, I am exhausted, but damn
I had fun. Yeah, There's just nothing like being at
a live wrestling show, especially like a major marquee wrestling
show like a Summer Slam and a big stadium, surrounded
by so many damn wrestling fans and the New York,
New Jersey area, which is pretty much the mecca of
(01:13):
pro wrestling. Yeah, it was just a beautiful time, beautiful experience.
The weather was definitely on our side. There was no
issues with the weather, which was clutch. And Yeah, I
had a much better experience attending this show at MetLife
Stadium than I did the last time I was at
Medlife Stadium, and that is definitely something I.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
Am grateful for.
Speaker 1 (01:30):
And I'm grateful overall that both main events of Night
one and Night two really delivered. I feel like they're
both what pushed the show over the top in my opinion,
and I can't wait to dive into all of it,
and throughout this I'll be diving into my experience of
being there for both nights.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Sure, So let's go ahead and start with Night one
with Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Night one basically started off with John Reynold's favorite rapper,
Cardi B, who was the host of the show, at
least for the first night. She came out welcome to crowd,
the SummerSlam, talked about all of her that were there,
especially Randy Orton. Her reaction to Randy Jorton definitely said
it all. And then she started doing like the EO
sky like yell at the ah that shit some suppression
and pointed herself while she was doing it.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
But yeah, it was cool. I mean, people seem to
like Cardi B.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
She kind of got a mixed reaction when she came out,
but whatever it was. It just a quick few minutes
and didn't take away from the show with all.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
I mean, she has the theme song for the event,
so it was no surprise there though, But yeah, no
surprise to see her. And from there we started off
with first match of the night and the right way
to start off was a tag team match between Roman Reigns,
jay Us versus bron Breaker and Bronson. Reid along with
Paul Hayman and Bronson Reed being diabolical, just like he
(02:44):
did last week, showed up with Roman Ragns stolen pair
of Jordan's.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Yeah, he calls it the shoe falla, which is freaking hilarious,
and the tribal thief.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yeah, they came through.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
But I gotta say I really felt for jay Uso
because it took him forever in a day to get
from where he started his entrance in the concourse all
the way to the damn ring. That was a long
way down, sir, And I'm telling you, from being there,
I got his long damn way down.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
I bet. Overall like the match. It was a great
way to set off the match. I love the spots
in the match. I love when Roman did the leap
over the top rope onto bron Breaker and ronson ree.
That was one epic thing to see.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
Yeah, he could have really hurt himself badly on that
spot too. They're very lucky that it didn't go as
bad as it could have. That almost reminded me of
that spot when the Undertaker jumped over the top on
a Sean Michaels at WrestleMania twenty five, like when he
hit the cameraman and all that. Yeah, that's kind of
the vibey God from that. But luckily everything was okay,
nobody got hurt, and yeah, the match goes on. Roman
even speared bron Breaker through the railing, which is also dope.
(03:45):
And then breaker Breaker actually attempted to close line like
you know over the announced table that he usually does, and.
Speaker 3 (03:51):
Then he missed.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
But he really hit his knee bad on that spot,
like at the edge of the table, to the point
where we've noticed his knee was taped up later in
the night, which we'll get into as we aggressed with
our review.
Speaker 3 (04:01):
So yeah, the match goes on. I'm Roman and Jay
even hit the one d onto Bronson Reid Yo. That
was great, so great that they did that spot.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
No. I thought it was over though, but bron Breaker
showed up and broke the cover.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Of course he did damn party for but then freaking.
Speaker 1 (04:18):
One of my favorite spots in this whole match is
when Roman actually took the bullet for his cousin. He
moved j out of the way so he could eat
a spear from bron Breaker himself, and then Jay took
advantage and then it knocked out bron Breaker with a superkick,
got his ass out of the ring, and then he
hit Bronson be with a superkick, went to the top
rope and nailed Bronson Reid with the USO splash to get.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
The win for him.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
In Roman and Damn I gotta say, out of all
the predictions I got wrong for Night Winter SummerSlam, this
is the one I'm happy I was wrong about.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Yeah, I was wrong on that prediction. Roman and Jay
got the wind though. But sadly Roman and not getting
shoes back, he'll be fine.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
He probably owns twenty pairs of them anyway.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
I mean, hey, it's probably his favorite one. He may
never know.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
Who knows.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Maybe they're just the ones he wears just to kill
time and he just wants him back for an eagle thing.
I'm just talking shit. But yeah, he'll get the shoes
back at some point. I'm starting to feel like this
is the same storyline where like Jean Pierre Lafitte stole
Brett hartch jacket back in ninety five. So yeah, he'll
probably do like a little chase. Maybe he'll have like
a shoe on a pole match or some shit at
the next pill.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Probably yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Probably, Actually maybe not, because Roman apparently is gonna be
taking time off even though he just freaking came back
three weeks ago. He's gonna be taking time off to
film a new Street Fighter, which means he might be
will probably a Survivor series.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
Probably, Yeah, this dude, does not need to be the
champion again. No offense. But with that, with that schedule,
like with him barely being around, Yeah, you don't need
to put the belt on Roman again.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
It's sadly to say, no offense. And I love Roman Reigns,
but it's part time. It's part time now.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
So yeah, he's basically what the Undertaker in Triple H
like towards the end.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
Yeah, and the Rock.
Speaker 3 (06:07):
Yeah just sounds about right. He was.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
He's around a little bit more than the Rocks towards
the end. But yeah, I get what you're trying to say.
But yeah, Roman and j pick up the win. I'm
not mad at it. It was a great opener, great
way to start the show, get the crowd hyped. And
then we're on to the second match we had for
the women's tag team Championship, Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez
defending those titles against Charlotte Flair and alex Of Bliss.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
It was a decent match to you know, to get
through and but man, I was surprised of the result.
This is the result that I got wrong.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
And the results I got wrong too, as despite Alexa
Bliss accidentally hitting Charlotte. At one point of the match,
I honestly thought it was gonna end there and they
were gonna lose, but they rebounded from that, and Charlotte
kicked Raquel with a big boot and then Alexa laid
out Roxanne Perez with a twisted Bliss to get the win,
and Charlotte and like, Lexa Bliss are your new women's
(07:02):
tag team champions?
Speaker 2 (07:03):
Holy yeah, I was, yeah, I know, I was very
surprised that this happened because look, you know, rox Santa
and Raquel are new and they need to build a
bomb because Live is gone, right but for now? Yeah, now,
don't don't.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
Let Rodriguez will not let you forget. She's just gone
for now.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Oh no, she hasn't. She didn't even she mentioned on
her Instagram story, lads and gentlemen, because she's saying, still,
you know, not forgetting about liv Morgan. So yeah, that
is known. But I'm happy for Charlotte Flair though. This
is something that is new for her because look, she's
known as a singles superstar and for the first time
(07:42):
you are have an attack team chemistry with somebody else.
So this is new for her and I'm happy for her.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Yeah, Like she even said herself, like she was always
trying to play like the perfect specimen, the perfect athlete
throughout the years she's been on the main laster, and like,
now this is like giving her something new to do,
something that is helping you get out of her comfort zone.
Somebody's entertaining is a Lexa blist of playoff of Yeah,
it's a different path for her and it's working so far. Yeah,
(08:11):
because she's been playing pretty much the same character for
a decade and like now that she's trying something different
and playing off with somebody who could bring that out
of her, it seems like it's starting to work. And
now with her and Alexa as the tag team champions,
I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes next.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Same here so as moving Yeah, so moving forward to
our next match, we had Sammy Zain versus Carrying Cross.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
I have to be honest, there was not much to
this match. In the worst match of the first night.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Just getting through.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Yeah, there was one point where Scarlett threw the pipe
into the ring that Cross has been using on Sammy
the last few weeks, but Sammy Zain.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Refused to use it because he's an.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Upstanding, solid human beings, So we wanted to win the
right way, and he did end up winning the right
way as he laid out Carry and Cross with a
halluva kick to get the win and possively send Carry
and Cross out of the company.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Because from this loss.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
It seems pretty clear that Carrie and Cross will not
be resigning.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
Oh, we don't know that. I want him to resign. Okay,
it doesn't look good from this. It doesn't look good. Yeah,
but you got to look at outside of that. I
think outside of the box, he has a good fan reaction.
At one point, he had good merchandise cells, you know
what I mean. So he was pushed way more better
than he was, you know, five years ago. So it
(09:33):
is uncertain right now. I do want him to resign.
I really would love to see him stay. So look,
only time will tell. We have to wait and see
what happens. Or we'll find out what happens later tonight
on RAW.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
If he's even on the show, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
That's what I'm saying. If he will be there, then hey,
that says a lot.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
Yeah, we'll see what happens.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
It's funny as many wrestling shows as I've gone to
this weekend This is the first time I went to
wrestling shows on back to back nights. I'm actually going
to row tonight too good. That's good bar play center.
I've never been a bar play center before. Either one
of those damn nets to want to be New York Knicks.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
You should wearry your Knicks. No, No, you don't have
a Knicks jersey, do you?
Speaker 3 (10:15):
Actually they had.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
They had a Summer Slam jersey they were selling in
Knicks colors. I was thinking about buying it. I actually
might stole by it.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Okay, you should wear it like a Knicks hat or
something and just show off. Heyvard, real team in New York.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Yeah, I heard somebody last night, Like, as I was
leaving the show, I heard Tony last night talking about
the Celtics. Go Celtics, Got Celtics. I'm like, Yo, get
that shit out of here, and trying to hear.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
All that wrong place. If he's saying that, man.
Speaker 3 (10:41):
Damn right right in any event time? Yeah, but any
of that.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
Sammy's Ay wins the match and onto our next match
at a match that had zero heat going into it,
even though it's on a show called fucking Summer Slam.
We had Tiffany Stratton defending her Women's championship against the
twenty twenty five Queen of the Ring winner Jade Carr.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
This match was pretty short for women's title match. Seven
minutes almost.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Yeah, it was seven minutes. It was seven minutes.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
But before we get into the match, I have to
give kudos to Jade Cargill for wrapping her Jamaican culture
with her entrance and her outfit.
Speaker 3 (11:17):
Your I look badass.
Speaker 1 (11:20):
That the Jamaican bobsled teams from Cool Runnings would be
really proud straight up.
Speaker 2 (11:25):
Yeah. And then the you know, the Jamaican neighborhoods in
you know, upstate New York. That's well, she was pretty
represented as well, you know what I mean. That was
the whole point of it. I loved it.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Oh yeah, Jamaica queens right pass by it every day, right. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
I saw on Facebook once about like a crow saying
I thought you were going to take me to Jamaica.
He's like, I am taking you to Jamaica. And then
it's the sea train going to Jamaica. Queens.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
Wow, Homa fifty cent.
Speaker 1 (11:56):
But yeah, anyway, Yeah, this match was short. It was
about seven minutes. It was up for the time.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
It lasted.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
I have to say, like the match is pretty entertaining.
There was one point where Jade hit the Jaded onto Stratton,
but Stratton got her feet in the ropes because when
Jade was pinning her, she pulled her feet back too
far and it led her getting her feet roll.
Speaker 2 (12:14):
Yeah. I feel like she's always screwing up on those
pin on those pinfalls whenever she does her finisher man.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Damn, so I ended up costing her.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
And then she tried to go for it Jaded from
the top rope, but Tiffany Stratton escaped it threw her
down and then Tiffany Stratton hit her with the prettiest
moon salt.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
Ever to shockingly get the win and retain her title.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Damn Yeah, this was a yeah. I was actually surprised
there was like one of the results her. I was like, wow, boy,
was I wrong on this one? And when I look
back at it. As much as I love Tiffany Stratton,
but I asked myself was this the wrong move or
the right move? And I think this is like the
wrong move to do well.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
My thoughts coming out of this match.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
The one thing I said to myself after it was over,
one of them needs to turn heel, and probably Jade
more than anything else. What she just lost clean She
just lost cleanly to Tiffany Stratton in a women's title match, Like,
where the fuck else does she go from here?
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Being a babyface?
Speaker 2 (13:18):
I know? Well, okay, thinking afterwards, my bad, Yeah, what
the fuck is she gonna do now? And before it that,
we're all saying it would be better for Tiffany to
turn heel.
Speaker 1 (13:31):
I just said coming out, Yeah, I said coming out
of this match, like, yeah, one of them definitely needs
to turn within the next week or two.
Speaker 3 (13:36):
But just thinking about it, like since then, I think.
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Jade would be the better idea to turn heel because
she just won the Queen of the Ring. She'll have
an extra grind because of the fact that she lost
like this. She could say something like, oh, oh I
lost my edge. Oh I wasn't focused the way I
should have been, but no more of that bullshit. So yeah,
I could see her like giving a nasty beatdown to
Tiffany Stratton like she did to Naomi at Elimination Chamber,
and yet she could be a heel. And then she
(14:00):
got through with Bianca. When Bianca gets back, they could
definitely do something.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
With that too, probably, yeah, I don't know. It is
that decision shows like the lack of faith that they
have in her, I guess yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:09):
I even heard some stories about that coming out of this,
that apparently they don't see her like on that same
level that they did when they first signed her.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
M I don't know if that's true or not.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
We'll see how things play out in the next few
weeks to see if it is true.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
But yeah, this is a bad loss.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
For Jade, it is, but Tiffny Stratton retains her title.
Tiffany Stratton's having a banner year if I've ever seen one.
From cashing in the money in the bank in the
beginning of the year, the great matches she's had with
Naya Jacks, beating Charlotte at WrestleMania and now retaining at SummerSlam.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
Yeah, she's killing it definitely all right. So onto our
next match.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
This a match actually I was looking forward to, even
though it's a celebrity match or a sports entertainment match,
whatever you want to call it. We had Randy Orton,
Cardi B's favorite superstar, teaming up with Jelly roll country
music superstar our Jelly World to take on Drew McIntire
and the douchebag fuck Logan Paul.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
You know, it was funny when jelly Roll got in
the ring. It was getting in the face of truecin
Tire and it was ship.
Speaker 1 (15:18):
He was like begging Randy Widen to stay in the match.
He didn't want to tag out, like he said, no,
let me do this.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
I got this.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
And then when he gets back in, he's like stands
face to face with Drew McIntire's like, oh, Ship, what
the fuck have I gotten myself into?
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Exactly? That was? It was, It was it was you know,
as you said, it was entertainment, you know. But I
liked how Jerry jelly Roll at first was like out
of it at first, and then you see referees carrying
him out to the ring, out of the ring, and
I'm just like, no, no, no, I don't. I was like, no,
(15:52):
I want to know, put me back in, Like no, no, no,
I'm not done yet.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
I was like, whoa, okay, yeah, I wanted to get
to that. Yeah. I gotta give jelly Roll credit. His
ass took a beating in this match.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah, he really got his ass kicked throughout most of
this from like the chops that Drew was giving him
some of the moves that Logan Paul was doing to him.
And obviously the one spot that stands out most is
when that doucheback fucked Logan Paul while toasting his nasty
ass prime drink on the top rope frog splashed Jelly
Rolled through the damn announced table bro that landing. The
(16:22):
way that table collapsed when Paul slashed him through it,
holy shit.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
And he thought bad Bunny was the only ones who
was willing to take those bumps and everything, but no,
Jelly Roll really showed up and showed out.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Man.
Speaker 2 (16:35):
I'm really happy for him to put in the effort
in this match. Man.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Yeah, they were helping him out. Yeah, they were like
helping him up because of that spot. They thought he
was done. They were helping him like, you know, to
the back and as he was about to go up
the ramp, he like turns around and then he like
just just like pushes the officials off of him and
then he just gets back on the apron to continue
the match. You know, everyone was cheering hard for him
when he did that, Like when he like like turned
(17:00):
around and decided to still continue the match, even though
he was taking the punishment that he did.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Yeah, that was like the Mick Foley King of the
Ring ninety eight moment.
Speaker 2 (17:08):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Yeah, it was great.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
So like he tags back in, he does like a
power slam, he does a boss man slam.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Yo.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
He was doing work. Yeah, he was really doing work.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
And then unfortunately he got laid out by Drew McIntire
with the Claymore kick, and then Brandy lays out McIntyre
with the RKO and then Logan Paul pushes Randy Ordon
out of the ring against the post shoulder first, and
then Paul goes to the top rope and then hits
Jelly Roll with a frog splash, and Logan Paul and
(17:37):
Drew McIntyre get the win. Shock did not see that company, Yeah,
I did not see that ending coming.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Overalls.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
Entertaining match though, Yeah, entertaining matagine.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
As much as I don't like to do, Logan Paul
did his thing. He definitely was one of the standout
parts of this match. And props to Jelly Ro. Jlly
Row definitely put in a good performance too. I didn't
expect any less, and it's so funny. I predicted that
Jelly rolling Randy Jordan, We're gonna win with Jelly Roll
splashing Logan Paul from the top row, and instead Logan
Paul Andrew McIntyre win with Logan Fall splashing jelly.
Speaker 3 (18:10):
Roll from the top row.
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Wow, I know, Okay, So Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre
your winners. And onto the main event of Night one,
for the World Heavyweight Championship, we had the Ring General
Goon Third defending his title against c M Motherfucking Punk.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
I love the the match promo. Loved it when I
when I watched that promo, I was like, oh my god,
I think Punk has a chance, and I I just
felt excited for this match, Like I don't care about
how the build up was and everything. When they announced
(18:54):
this match, I was excited because I knew I was
in for a good match and we were. I love
if anybody was paying tension. I love seeing Punk's wrestling
attire an a match o maatch to Fantastic four. Loved it.
And this wow, this this is a peer just old
(19:16):
school wrestling match. But Goother was just dominating, just hitting
Punk with those chops and oh it was nasty. Man.
It was just like pretty much like halfway through the match.
It was just it was all goother. It was all
goother dominating. But the turning point of that match. Gunther
was dominating that match. But then he got cocky and
he went outside of the ring. He even got on
(19:37):
top of the announced table, Kurt. But then this is
where the turning point happens. Punk freaking trips goother on
the on the announced table. When he falls down and
goother for the first time, he's bleeding. I never I've
never seen him gum through blad. I was like, oh
my god. And then this is where the turning point happens.
Punk you know, does the knee the knee kick, and
(19:58):
then he then the elbow drop and then it's all
CM punk in two. I thought he did one. I
kind of like, you know, I went away from a
TV for a moment though, But he did two go
to sleeps to goother.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
Yeah, he did one go to steep in a not
like the spit out of Gunther, and then he hit
him with one more for good luck and CM Punk
after those two go to sleeps won the World Heavyweight Championship.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
I got scared. I'm telling you right now. I was like,
oh my god, I can't believe this is happening. We're
gonna have a good ending. And I'll say to myself, okay,
leave the ring, please see leave the ringing because I
don't feel comfortable. Part of me didn't feel comfortable, and
I had every reason to be because literally a few
minutes after in the match, seth Rolins music hits.
Speaker 3 (20:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
As Punk is like being handed the championship, he's crying,
He's like holding the belt up. He could barely because
of how like brutal and physical that damn match was.
And as he's raising up the belt, that's damn. Seth
Robin's music hits. Even though he's a damn heel, he's
still using that damn babyface music. He comes out on
crutches and like basically acting like he's sending a message
(21:14):
to Punk that he still has the briefcase and he
can still cash in it at anytime, even though he's heard.
And then as he's turning around, he pushes the crutches down.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
And then he unzips his knee brace. And the whole
entire time, hook Lie and Sinker, Seth ROMs was not hurt.
He was playing us the whole entire time, and he
walks on. He walks down a ramp onto the ring
(21:45):
and he attacks se him pump. He hits him with
the briefcase, makes it official that he's cashing it in,
and then he hits them with the curb stomp one,
two three. Within five minutes, Kurt, we have a new
world champion. And as a fan, and I am devastated,
and I'm heartbroken and I can't I had I immediately
turn it off after that. And I devastated is one word.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Of course you turned it off. There was nothing else
to happen after the show.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
After that, I didn't want to see the rest you
know more, you know the show more, and I mean,
come on, they showed them leaving the ring and all that.
I didn't want to see it.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
So yeah, yeah, basically, like after it went off the air,
like Robins still celebrating with the belt with Breaker Bronson
Reeda Hayman walking up the ramp, and yeah, people were
still singing the damn song even though he's a heal
Everybody in the audience was still singing that song and celebrating.
I'm like, you freaking idiots. He just screwed Prunk. How
could you sing his damn song He's the heel.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
He screwed all of us from the video of him
walking with his daughter on his crutches and on the
on the Rich Heisen Show, that was the show. I
was trying to mention last week the Rich height Eisen Show,
he's talking about, oh you know, you know the doctor say,
you know, I don't know how long it to be gone,
and this is what happened, blah blah blah. And there
was a or him being out either four to five months.
Speaker 3 (23:02):
All that, all of that was a ruse.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
So it's funny how ten years ago was the Heights
of the Century right at Russell MANA thirty one when
he cashed in on Roman reigns in brock Lesnar. Right
ten years later, everybody's calling it the ruse of the century.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
And funny enough, I was in the building for both
of them. Crazy I got to see. I got to
be there when he cashed in ten years ago with
thirty one, and I'm in the building when he cashes
in at SummerSlam this year. Yeah, it's hard to say
which one is the better cash in admittedly, but Yo,
they played this one off well, I mean you could
kind of see it coming in some ways you kind
(23:39):
of like figured that rather this injury wasn't on the
up and up and all that. But Yo, they pulled
it off well, especially when he dropped the crutches down
and came to the ring.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Yo, it was brilliant. You may have hated it.
Speaker 1 (23:49):
You may be mad because you're a Punk fan and
I get it, but it was well done cinema.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Yeah, I know, but me being optimistic, there was a
light in the end of the tunnel, and Punk will
get his revenge.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
At WrestleMania next year probably, yes, yes, yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
But uh, I don't care how catchy that damn Rolinstein
music is. I refuse to sing along with it, Like
after that happened, I refused to sing along with it.
Speaker 2 (24:21):
There was one fan who was actually upset. There was
a video of him very upset when the crowd was
like when they're leaving the stadium.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
Oh yeah, I.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
Saw these two fans arguing, Like as I was leaving,
I saw these two fans arguing about what like when
Punk lost the title to the Rock like in twenty thirteen,
they were like really getting heated over it.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
I'm like, yo, relax, she was twelve years ago, dude,
there was.
Speaker 2 (24:42):
There was even idiots that were saying, how oh this
is what Punk gets for screwing Jeff Hardy back in
oh nine.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
I'm like, bro get stop after starring Drew McIntire all
those times last year.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Yeah, like, please stop, like you, Jeff Hart, I like
Jeffry too, I do, but down, Hey.
Speaker 3 (25:04):
There's some truth to that.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
I know you're a big CM punk fan, but you
have to be honest with yourself.
Speaker 3 (25:08):
Punk at the exact same thing. Yeah, he cast in
on Jeff and Robin's cash in on him. He did
it like in a very like sneaky, underhanded way, but still, yeah,
he has the right to do it.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
I mean, everybody does it. I mean, come on, remember
when Edge did it Undertaker? Remember that that was wo
That was after a cage match, Kurt a brutal one.
Speaker 3 (25:30):
I'm aware.
Speaker 1 (25:31):
Yeah, but it was a well done cash and it
was a great way to end Night one Night One.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
Throughout it was.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Mid I would say, up until the main event. The
main event was good. It could have maybe been a
little shorter. I feel like the thirty minute length was
maybe a little bit overkilled, but overall it was still
a very good match. And then obviously the cashing was
very well done too, so the main event in the postmatch,
the cash and stuff.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
You definitely put Night one over the top.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
You know what, this goes along with all the other
like shot fucking SummerSlam endings. I think top three is
this one. And then I can't forget about what happened
in twenty thirteen between Daniel Bryan and John Zenam and
Randy Orton came in, and then of course I'll put
ninety seven in the mix, right Heart and Undertaker, you know,
and Sean accidentally hits Undertaker of the steel chair and
(26:18):
he has no choice to make the cover and then
Brett Harson new champions. So yeah, those are like my
top three shocking endings in Summer Slim.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, those are those endings of the show where you're like, damn,
what the hell just fucking happens?
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Speechless?
Speaker 1 (26:31):
Yeah, if you're speechless, shocked, confused in some ways, but
in a good way. Boy gonna be alright, son, It's
gonna be alright. And he's got to hold the title
for five minutes.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Somebody said he's the first person to hold the original
Classic World Heavyweight Championship belt and the current one.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Yeah, he is yeah, yeah, I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
I was like really happy, like when he won and
like when he was crying and they handed him the belt,
I was like really happy to see it.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
And I knew, damn it.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
But I knew in the back of my head, like, yo,
something's up, something is going to happen after this.
Speaker 2 (27:06):
And Okay, I promise you, I swear to you. I
when I tell you this, I swear to you.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
I thought, remember when del.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Rio was going to cash in on him at Money
in the Bank in twenty eleven, and then as soon
as he walked into the ring, Punk hit him with
the kick and he left. I swear to you, Punk
was I thought he was going to do the same thing,
like hit him with the belt and then run.
Speaker 1 (27:32):
Punk was just done. By the time this match was over.
You could like tell by the look on his face,
this dude was exhausted. I was like, damn it, Punk, Lee.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
You needed to be carrying.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
He needed to be carried out of the ring by people,
the same way Lawrence Taylor did at the end of
his match with Bam No.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
You know, I would have called him the chop the
choppa and got arnold. You know, the team Arnold Sorcinator's
Commando team to save him the chop.
Speaker 3 (28:00):
That's what I would have did.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
I was like, see him Punk would have accepted the
ride from Ronald because he doesn't like his politics.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Oh for all, man, I'm just playing.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
But anyway, So yeah, Summer Slam Night, when edited with
Seth Rollins cashing in the money in the bank on
CM Punk after him. Punk had just won the title
to win the title of himself, and it goes into
that whole story that Rollin has been telling for months
that as long as he's a round, CM Punk will
never be world champion, or for at least longer than five.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Minutes, there will be justice and goofy outfits along the way.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Okay, I bet he's gonna do something with the title now,
like with those wacky offits. I bet he's gonna do
something like wacky and crazy with the title now, like
a wacky ass design.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
No, I mean he this is the second time holding
that belt, so he didn't do anything the first time.
Speaker 3 (28:51):
But now that he's a heel, now that he's a healing,
might want to switch it. No, I don't know, I
mean the strings over it or something.
Speaker 2 (28:56):
I mean he's a heel now, he's more serious than ever,
you know what I mean. And he was a baby
faced when he was a champion the first time, So
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Yeah, he's a heel now, but he still uses the
same damn babyface music and still does the same baby
face dance like all this this shit that he does.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Kind of, yes, and I kind of. I mean, he's
a little more just there's a little more seriousness to
him a little bit.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
But hey, yeah, Wade Keller, Yeah, when I talked to
way Keller about this stuff, Yeah, he's very critical of
things like that, about how like certain heels, even though
they are heels, they still play cad to the audience.
They still try to interact with the audience. But like,
if you're a real legit heel, you don't do any
of that shit.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
That's a good point.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Yeah, he has a lot of fair points in that regard.
But yes, that's how Night one ended. So let's get
to night too. We had Night two open with instead
of Cardi B, Triple H.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Yeah, Triple H opened the open this time and just
pretty much welcome and everybody the Summer Slam and yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
Yeah that was that.
Speaker 1 (29:55):
So yeah, Triple h did the opening and the first
match for Night two was a triple threat for the
Women's World Championship, as we had Naomi defending her newly
won title against Rio Ripley and EO Sky. And I
have to say, it was great to see Naomi's dad
player to the ring.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Yes, that was amazing. His dad is a guitarist. I
did not know that. That was. That's amazing.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
That was the great entry.
Speaker 2 (30:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
Yeah, you see the dude playing, I'm yo, this dude
is dope. And they say on the screen it's Naomi's dad.
I'm like, oh shit, Naomi's dad's a Rock and Rollers
Holy shit.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
Yeah yeah, And I was like, oh man, that was
that was That was neat, That was heartfelt. I liked
that and I was like, yeah, I we picked nay
on me to win a minute. But then when I
saw that entrance, I was like, oh, there's no doubt.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Yeah, she's definitely winning now, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (30:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
I felt the same way when Bianca Butella came out
with that marching band at WrestleMania thirty eight. Like when
I saw that, I'm like, yeah, she's winning this match.
There's no way she's not winning. This match, right, Yeah,
so the match was good. I think it was a
little unfair in some ways. To compare it to the
triple three we got at WrestleMania, this match is a
little different, where like kind of Naomi was like sitting
on the sidelines, like waiting for Ria and EO to
(31:08):
beat the hell out of each other. And then it
came to the point where Rhea hit EO with like
a super rip tide from the top rope and then
after this Naomi rolled up real and then she got
the win and retained the title.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Yeah. I said myself, she was gonna steal her way
in this match, and she did.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:29):
Match is so fun. Everybody did their thing in it.
Like it wasn't the breakout match. I thought it would be,
like compared to the WrestleMania one obviously, but it was
still good. It's still delivered for what it was.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
Yeah, Rea Ripley hates SummerSlam now, oh sure that's true,
solid Yeah solar tweet now he's like, I guess I
hate Summer Slim, I guess, or Summerslim hates me or
something like that to that agenda, I believe, But yeah,
not a summertime hasn't been too kind to real Ripley.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
Yeah, she's not having the same look with Summer Slams
that Big Show had with WrestleMania's Yeah damn, she doesn't
win the title in twenty twenty one, that three where
with Charlotte and Nicky Ash and then she gets left
off the show with twenty twenty three, she loses to
Live Morgan and loses her man to Live Morgan, and
then this happens this year.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Yeah damn.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
The one person I'm kind of concerned about coming out
of this match that was Ego Sky because after this loss, Yeah,
I'm not sure what she does now for the foreseeable future.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Well well okay, well the we do know Stephanie Varkire
is gonna challenge now on me next I clash that
clash impressions. Yeah, so I don't know. We're just gonna
see what happens afterwards. That's all we could say.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Yeah, maybe she'll move to maybe she'll move to another show.
Maybe she could challenge for the women's Icy title, which
we'll get into later.
Speaker 3 (32:57):
But yeah, n for guy at.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
The moment, yes, yeah, yeah, maybe okay, well yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Yeah, so we had Naomi retaining no surprise here and
then onto our next match. We had the TLC for
the SmackDown Tag Team Championship with the Wyatts defending against
the Street Profits Motor City machine Guns to Maso Champa
and Johnny Gargano, Phraxium and Andrade and Ray Pinnix. And
before the match we had a cameo in the front
(33:24):
row from the Hardy Boys and the Dudley Boys, the
two teams who were in the original TLC match It
took place at SummerSlam twenty five years ago in two thousand,
so it was dope to see them here for this one.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
If only if Edge and Christian stayed. If they stayed
ww that would have been there too. Though they're probably like, oh,
well down, you probably just forgot about us, but now
you're in aw so yeah, but yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
So we have the matches, matches, batshit crazy, like I
expected it.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
To be.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
Chaos, chaos all over the place.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
One point, Johnny Gargana went to Masco Champ and get
pushed off the last through the tables.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Hell.
Speaker 1 (34:01):
Even Cannice Loray got pushed off the ladder through another ladder.
That was probably the standout spot of that whole damn match.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
Honestly, there's a lot gonness griss. I haven't seen a
woman got take a bump in those kind of matches
since LEDA.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Well, they've had the TOC's with the women before.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
I remember like a really crazy one with Charlotte, Oscar
and Becky like back in twenty eighteen. They beat the
hell out of each other with that match. But yeah,
that was a nasty spot. And then ultimately the WYATTSU
took down like Andrede took down Andradi and Fraxy and
they knocked them off of the ladder, and then ultimately
(34:39):
they climbed the ladder, retrieved the titles and they retained.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Yeah, I mean it was a good choice for entertaining.
I mean, they just they're the newly crown champion, so
why take it off take it off of them? You know.
Speaker 3 (34:50):
Yeah, it was a fun match.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
I'm glad all these teams got to be on the show,
and the SmackDown tag team titles got to be defended
on a major show because of how they got left
off of WrestleMania.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
So I'm glad that to get to have this moment
on this stage. And yeah, they did work.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
I think maybe it was overkilled with the six teams
as opposed to just having three maybe four, but whatever,
it was fun. Yeah, Wyatt's retained the at tag team titles.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
Ended our next match, and my opinion.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
Honestly the match that disappointed me the most for what
I expected going into it. We had Becky Lynch defending
her women's in her Continental title, coming out to new
theme music actually against Labra Valkurier.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
And remember the stipulation, ladies and gentlemen, if Lava Vakira
went loses, she will never get a women's I SEE
title title shot again. And it is noice qualification, no
count out.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
So yeah, and a big thing that probably hurt this
match was the fact that it went on right after
the TC match.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Ooh, booking, booking, booking. The crowd was really hot. They
ate the crowd was really hot for that ladder match,
wasn't it.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Yeah, of course they were in this with Becky and
Lyra had like really good wrestling matches, so like in
this case, you have to do something that was different
and you know out of you know what they do normally,
and it was a good idea on paper, but then
when you saw it like play out like in person,
in front of your eyes.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
It like didn't really click the way you thought it would.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Hm.
Speaker 1 (36:17):
But they tried, though, I'm not gonna knock the refort.
They definitely tried, but it just yeah, it didn't click.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Mm hmm. One point in the match that Larler got
zip tied.
Speaker 3 (36:30):
Yeah by Becky. Yeah, Becky's been watching some Gunter tapes,
I guess. But I like that.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
You came out with new theme music though. That was badass. Okay,
first time in a decade.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
Yeah. Do you like it though?
Speaker 3 (36:48):
Yeah? I liked it. As long as it's not that
deaf rebel bullshit. I'm good.
Speaker 2 (36:52):
Hey, a lot of people are hating on him. Man,
you got to bring back Jim Johnson. That's what I've
been saying. That'd be great, bring that man back. Please.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
So, yeah, Becky did use the zip tie at one
and then at one point throughout the match barely ended
up showing up, which I definitely expected to happen, And
then she tried to attack Becky. Yeah, she tried to
attack Becky, but Becky got the better of her. So yeah,
Becky and Yeah, Becky and Larra are battling in the ring,
and as Barey's grabbing a chain and wraps it around
her hand to hit Becky with it. She misses, and
(37:26):
she accidentally hits Libra with it, and that would lead
to Becky hitting Libra with the Man Slam to retain
her title and ban Larra from ever getting.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
Another title shot as long as Becky is the chance.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
I did not expect this. Ooh, did not expect that
that was the one.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Man.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
There was so many predictions that I got wrong, so
many and this was the one just like whoa like
I you know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (37:57):
Yeah, I really thought this match was going to be
one of the standouts of the whole weekend and honestly
was not that. And I really thought this was gonna
be Lyra's crowning moment and Summer Slam.
Speaker 3 (38:07):
It's the culmination of their food and it just ends
like this. It ends with Bailey.
Speaker 2 (38:12):
Screw when you were accidentally Yeah, and it's like, what's
gonna happen moving Affordable, you know, Bailey and Lawler and
now are going to feud. Now Bailey's gonna turn heel.
Speaker 1 (38:21):
Yeah, Larra better beat the hell out of Bailey tonight
when she sees her, because after that bullshit, Yeah, Barey
trying to get wrapped up in other people's damn business.
She lost that triple Threat a few weeks ago for
a reason. Wow, yeah this is messed up. But yeah,
Lyra has every right to be pissed off. Yeah, Bailey
got involved in her damn match and cost her. Now
she can't get no more title shots, and so Becky
(38:43):
loses the boat.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
Yeah, poor Lyra.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
And honestly, the crowd wasn't really that into this match either,
even myself included. I even like dozed off briefly during
the match, very briefly, very briefly. But I've been drinking
and whatnot. So yeah, and the match wasn't really God, yeah,
the match itself wasn't really like, you know, apping me
(39:08):
up the way I thought it would. So yeah, like
a couple of minutes I dozed off. This match is
over twenty minutes. They got like at least ten minutes
longer than the Women's Triple Threat did.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
I got to rewatch Night too.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
Yeah, i'mbout to rewatched Nights when we get done recording. Yeah,
but Becky retains the title. I don't mind it. I mean,
Becky's still doing a good job with it. It's not
like anything like that. But I really thought it was
gonna be a Crownny moment for Lyra, and yeah, it
didn't work out that way. Yeah, And arguably the worst
match of Night two we had for the United States
(39:42):
Championship Solo Sokba defending his championship against Jacob Fatsu, fresh
off of his appearance on The Breakfast Club the other day.
Speaker 2 (39:53):
I think this is a prediction you really got wrong.
I stood by mind and yeah, I mean, oh god,
I really wasn't surprised what happened. It was kind of
I don't know, man, Look, bloodline got involved, his new
bloodline got involved. I mean, what do you expect? I mean,
come on, you know. And at one point, I remember
(40:18):
Jacobatu got hand cuff on top of the cage.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
Yeah, by Tala Tanga. He can't come from too the
top of the cage.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
But eventually he broke off and he tried to catch
Solo before we could escape the cage. And then Talatanga
like kicked the door into Jacob's head and then Solo
just fell down to the floor and retained the title.
Speaker 3 (40:36):
And that was that.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
Yeah, And then I remember, well, oh, I forgot to
mention Jimmy USSO got involved to help Jacob out. It
didn't really do much.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Yeah, Jimmy Usso attempted to help out, but it just
wasn't enough, and so retained this title. But then afterwards
Jacob Fatu attacked j. C. Matteo, threw him back into
the cage and hit him with the springboard moon salt
from the top of the cage.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
And how comes Solo and everybody else didn't try to
help him out because.
Speaker 3 (41:02):
They have a bunch of I don't even want to
use the word.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
That was weird. And Jimmy was beating beating him up
for a while before he before he ran him, before
he threw him back into the ring. So I was like, Solo,
where are you?
Speaker 3 (41:17):
Dude?
Speaker 1 (41:19):
You know, he doesn't give a fuck about no Jason Miteo.
He's there to be the punching bag.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
As long as you protect me and I keep my title.
Were good.
Speaker 1 (41:28):
Yeah, He's like what, Yeah, Jason Mitato's basically what the
foot Soldiers were the Shredder.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Then Shredder gives a damn with the damn foot Soldiers.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
Are you gonna watch the movie when it comes back
out on the theaters for the thirty fifth anniversary.
Speaker 3 (41:46):
Yeah, I think I will.
Speaker 1 (41:47):
Yeah, I think I'm going to It's the best Nina
Toto's movie they've done, other than that one that came
out two years ago, like that uh c g I.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
One, that one was good to.
Speaker 1 (41:56):
Okay, trip me out that ice tube to the voice
of the villain right and Johnson? I think did the
voice of like Bebopa rock Steady one or the other
a right?
Speaker 3 (42:06):
All right?
Speaker 1 (42:06):
But anyway, Yeah, Solo Sico retains. I got this prediction wrong.
I do think the bell looks good on him. But yeah,
this match did not do anything for me. And the
biggest spot in the match they waited until after the
match was over to do it. M Yeah, so wasn't
feeling this at all. The crowd wasn't really feeling this
much at all. They liked Jacobatu, but yeah, they did
(42:26):
not like this match. And oh yeah that was badass.
Yeah that was badass when he was rocking.
Speaker 3 (42:33):
All right.
Speaker 1 (42:33):
So onto our second to last match of Night two
for the Intercontinental Championship, a title that's been made famous
at Summer Slam over the years. We had the Chicken
Tender slut Dominic Mysterio commemorating his twenty year anniversary, commemorating
in the twenty year anniversary of his very first Summer
Slime of Parents, where Eddie Guerrero and Raymonstereo fought over
(42:54):
custody of him defending his title against AJ Styles.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
This Lagion Gentleman. Outside of the main event, this is
my favorite.
Speaker 3 (43:03):
Match of Night two, of the whole weekend.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
Yeah, of Night two, AJ Styles came out in a
low rider.
Speaker 3 (43:12):
Oh he did.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
He did wearing Eddie Guerrero's same wrestling gear that he
did twenty years ago at Summer Song.
Speaker 3 (43:19):
Oh shit, yeah, he did do that.
Speaker 2 (43:21):
Mind games, mind games, mind games, Curt. I loved it.
The match was pretty decent, but boy, it got really
it really it got better towards the end. Yeah, because
I loved Dominic was trying to lie, cheating still just
like his daddy, and then aj did the same thing.
He had a steel chair and he put the steel
(43:42):
chair over his neck and he fell down. I loved it.
Speaker 3 (43:44):
Yeah, he was putting those tactics. And then in another
tactic that was brilliant.
Speaker 1 (43:48):
AJ Styles had a Dominic in this calf crusher. But
then as Dominic got out of it, his boot came off.
His boot ended up coming off, similar to what happened
Edie Guerrero would WrestleMania twenty and then Dominic used this
to its advantage by hitting AJ Styles with the boot,
and that led to Dominic hitting AJ with the frog
(44:10):
splash from the top rope to retain his title and
a win and a means of getting that win that
would have made his dad, Eddie Guerrero very very proud of.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
Crazy. I just I loved I love how they were
both trying to light cheat and steal. I love the ending,
and yeah, I don't think this feud is over. I
love this match.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
Yeah, I'm sure if Eddie Guerrero was still a laugh,
he would have bought Dominic like a your supply of
chickens tenders and Wingstop coupons or whatever the hell else.
Speaker 3 (44:37):
Yeah, you would have fooked them up. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
I saw the commercial with him, and I'm like, oh, ship,
of course they put him in the damn wingstock commercials.
Speaker 2 (44:48):
Come on now, we'll take that off for shoot you
become he likes chicken tenders on me? Come on now?
Speaker 1 (44:54):
So hey, I wonder what saw I wonder what sauce
he likes with it?
Speaker 3 (44:58):
Barbecue sauce, honey mustard, Sweden sour.
Speaker 2 (45:01):
Probably the Ranch obviously Ranch, I mean coming, that's that's
the number one. That's the number one.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
I'll take my beyond chicken strips any day. They're they're
good one day. They even sell them at the AMC. Well,
the impossible ones, but yeah, they even sell them at
AMC mm hmm. Alright, but anyway, enough for that. Dominic
retained his Intercontinental title no surprise, and on to the
main events of Night two. For the w W Championship,
we had John Cena, a recently baby face turning John
(45:32):
Cena defending his w W Championship against the man he
took it from it WrestleMania and one of the worst
main events in WrestleMania history, Cody Rhodes.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
I like Cody Roads entrance they had. They did like
a like a tribute to his dad of him, you know,
his voice over. I thought that was cool. Then he
made his regular entrance, and then when John Zena came out,
yet first it looked like, oh, He's going to do
his normal heel entrance, but no, for a brief moment
(46:05):
it looked like that was going to be the case,
but no, it went to his old presentation and the
crowd went nuts. They were it was pro Zina just
to begin with. But after that entrance, Goosebumps went back
to his old ways, his old entrance, him running down
to the ramp, and then it was just Goosebumps Kurt.
Speaker 3 (46:29):
It was great.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
It was electric being in that stadium, not for both
of their entrances really, because Cody's entrance was great, but
Sena especially, Like I've been to shows before where like,
you know, he got a mixed reaction and most of
the crowd boot him. But to be there in that
stadium for like his retirement tour and for it to
be his last Summer Slam, Yeah, they showed him love
like I've never seen anybody show.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
Seen a love before, like being there in person.
Speaker 1 (46:54):
Yeah, Like I would say, out of the entire weekend,
he got the best reaction.
Speaker 2 (47:00):
Because Yeah, and it was because of the you know,
the segment that they had this past Friday on SmackDown.
You know, so and I knew that, oh yeah, they're
going to be behind John Zena, But after seeing that entrance,
I was like, oh my god, this is this is wrestling,
this is It felt great.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
It was what we wanted.
Speaker 1 (47:18):
This is what we wanted, because the night his heel
turn went down, it was great, Like the way they
pulled it off was great, but just everything else that
followed it just did not live up to what it
could have been or what Yeah, maybe some of us
hoped it would have been, but yeah, it is what
it is like now. They actually, you know, realized it
wasn't working and decided to change course. And yet that
segment on Friday, when he turned again, I just said
(47:39):
to myself, Oh, this is going to make the match
on Sunday a lot more interesting now, and I think
the crowd is definitely probably going to be more pro
Sceener than they are pro Cody and lo and behold.
Speaker 3 (47:51):
I was right.
Speaker 2 (47:53):
Match was amazing delivered. Match was n match was I
said that when stipulation they when they said the stipulation
was gonna be straight, I said to myself, this match
will and has to be better than their first match
at WrestleMania.
Speaker 3 (48:11):
And it definitely was.
Speaker 1 (48:12):
They went from having one of the worst matches of
the year to having one of the best matches of
the year.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
John Zena threw the still steps outside the ring onto Cody.
Speaker 1 (48:20):
Rhodes oh shoot, Yeah, that reminded me of when he
did that to you Maga back in the Seven Worlds.
Speaker 2 (48:26):
Two things that he did reminded me of that. The
second one I'll get into later.
Speaker 3 (48:32):
Yes, yes, yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
And they were fighting into the audience and I think
one point, like John Cena pulled out like the railing,
like the railing that holds up like the line between
the audience and like the the performers. Yeah, he like
hit him with the fu on the railing at one
point when they're fighting in the audience. And yeah, Sena
even broke off like the bottom rope and used it
to choke out Cody kind of the same way he
did it to also in that Seven World Ruble match. Yeah,
(48:58):
I heard like when Sena like does that move, like
when he like really lynches in, like you really legit
causes people to pass out because like because the thing
with seen it like sometimes he doesn't realize how strong
he is.
Speaker 2 (49:08):
I know, man, two times where I thought this match
was over, Cody Roads did the Crossroads three times, three
consecutive times, and Sena kicked out. And then and then
later on John Zena does three consecutive f us Cody
Roads kicks out. I was like, dude, what, what the
hell's gonna happen?
Speaker 1 (49:27):
And hell, there was even one point where like they
were like in the in the elevator at the top
of the entrance where like Sena came up from it
holding Cody on his back about to do the FU,
and he just did the f you to.
Speaker 3 (49:38):
Him, like on the damn ramp.
Speaker 2 (49:41):
Man.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
That image of Sena when he comes up, like when
he first comes up the elevator, it's priceless.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
It was because I was like, wait, minute, where did
he go?
Speaker 1 (49:54):
Yeah, so that happened and they ended up back in
the ring and then Sena even hits Cody with an
f U from the top rope, and I really thought
he had him here. I've really thought he had the
match one year, but he did not. Cody kicked out.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
Man, what's gonna give? What's it gonna give? I just
like what else could they do?
Speaker 3 (50:15):
And then eventually Cody did hit Sina with another Crossroads
and that ended up being what did the job is?
That Crossroads led to Cody getting the win on Sena
and regaining the WWE championship.
Speaker 2 (50:31):
Cody Rows is now a two time WWE champion. And
uh wow, what a great match.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
Great match, much better than I expected it to be.
One of the best matches of the whole one of
the best matches of the whole year, easily the best
match of the whole weekend.
Speaker 3 (50:46):
Yeah, they definitely made up for what happened at WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (50:50):
Yes, yes, yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:53):
And then after the match, Sena and Cody ended up
shaking hands and then maybe Cody's hand as he held
up the title, and then Cody left the ring, so
that scene that could have a moment with the fans,
and then everybody was chanting thank you Sena.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
I was clapping for him. Everybody was like showing love
to him.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
Everybody was in many ways very emotional considering that this
was going to be seen his last Summer Slam. So yeah,
Sena was getting all the love from the audience, which
he definitely deserved. And as this was all happening, brock
Lesner's music.
Speaker 2 (51:22):
Hits surprisingly Holy shit. Did not of all people we
thought that he was done with the WWE, specially with
the allegations it's you know, with Vince McMahon and the
reaction that he got. Oh my god, Yeah, it was insane.
Speaker 3 (51:43):
Yeah, it was freaking electric.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
It was just brock Lesner's first appearance on WWETV since
SummerSlam twenty twenty three, when he lost to Cody Rhodes
and then endorsed him afterwards. So yeah, brock Lesner comes out,
He like walks around the ring and kind of stalks
Scena a little bit, and then he gets into the
ring and then Sena tries to hit him, and then
brock Lesner picks him up and lays his ass out
with an F five.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Wow. So you know, moving forward, what's gonna what's gonna happen.
It's gonna be John's Universe of brock Lesnar clash Our Paris.
Speaker 3 (52:16):
Yeah, makes sense, and it's so crazy.
Speaker 1 (52:19):
The ending Tonight one of SummerSlam played off of a
classic ending the SummerSlam, that being twenty thirteen with the
cash in, and then Night two of SummerSlam played off
to another classic ending of SummerSlam, that being twenty twenty one,
which I was after.
Speaker 3 (52:32):
The Yeah, I was at this one and you were
that one. Ain't that some shit? I know that's funny, Yeah,
but both were genuinely surprising. Yeah, both were very genuine surprises.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
This one especially because it was like shoot, dude, you're
like he thought he was just like they were done
with him, you know. And and a lot of people
are saying, oh, because the fact that he's back, like
we got to remember TKO don't play around when it
comes to stuff like that, and it shows that Brock
(53:06):
is pretty much like innocent with this whole with those
allegations from like a year ago, a couple of years ago.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
Either he's innocent or they feel like it's just too
much money to pass up.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
And it's been it's been fifty to fifty. From the reaction,
there's a lot of people on social media are not
happy that Brock is back, and the crowd says otherwise.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
So yeah, the crowd reaction was great, but yeah, there
is definitely some divided opinion over the whole thing because
of him. He wasn't exactly named in the allegation, like
they don't bring up his name, but just how they
describe the person basically know that it's in like who
the fuck else? They say former UFC champion And I
was around the time when Brock was like in negotiation
(53:50):
with them too, So yeah, it's that giveaway.
Speaker 3 (53:52):
That it was him, even though they don't mention his name. Yeah, exactly. Yeah,
it's a weird scenario.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
It's definitely, yeah, very it seem being uncomfortable for a
lot of people, especially maybe some of the women that
still work there and whatnot. But perhaps maybe seenor requested
to work with Rock during his retirement year. He wanted
to have one last match with him. Maybe it could
have been that as a factor that brought him back.
Maybe Tko saw that, you know, it's too much money
to be made with Lesler being there to like pass up,
(54:20):
even if you know there's controversy surrounding it.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
I mean, they still rubbebbles with Trump.
Speaker 1 (54:24):
Like we even saw Trump with Triple H, like last Thursday,
Triple H once go speak to that whole like I get, like,
I guess like health bill or whatever else that Trump
is starting.
Speaker 3 (54:31):
He had Triple H there. He also had Lawrence Taylor there.
Speaker 1 (54:35):
Yeah, it's so weird, like people are now calling out
Triple H for their kind of companies keeping considering all
those people.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
Well, I want to read an interesting tweet that somebody
said that Nikki Bella is back after she was guilty
of abusing her ex husband. Oh conc yeah, yeah, ex
convict Jolly Roll had a match and Cardi b a
woman who openly admitted to drugging, and Robbie Man, we're
all featured and no one said anything. Brock wasn't even
(55:04):
found guilty, and women are mad.
Speaker 1 (55:07):
Yeah all right, Yeah, that Cardi b one always bothered me,
Like when I heard that story about like her using
like drugging dudes, like you know, when she was a stripper,
she was like drug dudes and rather them, because like,
if I were a man who did that to women,
y'all would be losing your damn minds. Like why the
fuck did she get a pass for that?
Speaker 3 (55:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (55:25):
Yeah, like that shit is wrong regardless of who does
it to who mm hmm, Yeah. I don't like that
double standard bullshit sometimes. I even maintained on the show
last week, like no matter what race you are, what
gender you are, what sexual preference you are, what political
party you belong to, wrong, despicable bullshit behavior is wrong.
Despicable bullshit behavior, and none of it should get a pass.
Speaker 2 (55:48):
I agree. So Brock is back, and people could argue about, oh,
you know, you know, I'm mad, but people are happy
about them. Well, look if you're mad about it, and
then don't watching them. It's point blank and simple. You
complain about it is not gonna change anything. So you
got another promotion you want to support, Go support that
other promotion. You don't care. But I'm not really gonna
(56:11):
sit here and defend it or anything like that. But look,
you just don't crap on anybody because people are happy
that somebody's back and say this and say that when
you got all these other things going on about it,
people are gonna complain. And you know us wrestling fans
is not us. We could be pretty toxic. We could
(56:31):
complain all we want back. The end of the day,
we're still gonna tune in and watch. That's the only
thing I don't understand.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
I don't like that.
Speaker 1 (56:39):
So now it's switching from everybody being all divided and
fighting each other over whole Cogan's death, and now it's
gonna be everybody fighting each other over brock Lesnar being back. Yeah, yeah,
it never ends. I mean myself, I'm a little bit
mixed on it. I'm good either way. Like if Brock
never came back, it wouldn't have hurt me at all,
because I think he had a good ending anyway. And
(57:02):
I kind of just seen enough of him where like,
I'm like cool if he steps away. But whatever, it
was a great moment to end the show last night.
It was a genuine shocking moment that nobody saw coming.
Everybody was calling for the Rock throughout the night and
I just said, no fucking way to that. So yeah,
Brock showing up at the end. Yeah, it was a
genuine shocking moment at the end. And now it gives
us a Senior and Brock match one last time. I'm
(57:23):
left sure if it's gonna be at Clashing Paris or
possibly at the Crown Jewel Show in Australia, but regardless, whatever,
at least we'll get it one last time. I'm not
sure how good it will be, but whatever, I'm at
least willing to watch it.
Speaker 2 (57:35):
I'm just loving how the way business is going right now.
And then I cannot wait for today. I can't wait
for later today. What's gonna happen on rall And then
you know later that I'm going to be in the
hospital with my girlfriend as she gives birth to our child.
So yeah, there's a lot going on today.
Speaker 1 (57:50):
Yeah, yeah, bro The next time we need to do
this show, which will probably be in a few weeks,
You're gonna be a dad, so I'm gonna have to
introduce you as the new father.
Speaker 3 (57:58):
Yeah, I just wanted to say congratulations. I know it's
a big day for you. I know this has been
a long time coming.
Speaker 1 (58:04):
I've known you for seven years, ever since we've been
in class, and yeah, it's crazy from meeting you first
back then into doing this show with you all seven
years later. You're gonna be a dad, you have a
girlfriend who live with you, are probably gonna get married
at some point two.
Speaker 3 (58:18):
So yeah, I'm glad to see the come up. Bro,
I really am.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
Thank you, Thank you, welcome man. So if anything else,
got anything else before you jet off?
Speaker 3 (58:26):
Yeah, before we get out of here. Did you get
to watch any of the Unreal show?
Speaker 2 (58:31):
Just a few minutes of it. I didn't really have
a chance to finish it. I would, though, I mean
I've seen clips and stuff, you know, see him Punk
And I did saw a little clip of the Tiffany
Stratton and Charlotte Fluair one that was pretty interesting though.
But I didn't see like all of it yet though,
But I will though.
Speaker 1 (58:47):
Yeah, each episode basically documents like two or three certain
people at the time, Like the first episodes about see
Him Punk and Rio Ripley. The second episode is about
like I think it's yeah, Cody Rhoades, Van Nowins and there's.
Speaker 3 (59:00):
One other person.
Speaker 1 (59:01):
Then like the third episodes about the women, like it's
about you know, Chelsea Green and Charlotte and Bianca butl
Air they interview them. And then the most recent episode
I watched was about the Elimination Chambers show when Seen
a Turn, Like they go through like all the details
of it, like how it all came together, who talks
to who and all that good stuff.
Speaker 3 (59:18):
So yeah, a lot of that stuff was interesting. I mean,
people have their opinions about the show.
Speaker 1 (59:22):
People kind of feel like it's unnecessary, it kills kay
fabe all that stuff you've been okay Fae, it has
been dead for years.
Speaker 3 (59:28):
But whatever. If you feel that way about the show,
then you have the choice not to watch it.
Speaker 2 (59:35):
Yeah, it was. I saw one part where they're deciding
on who should win the ward rumble. I thought that
was pretty interesting.
Speaker 3 (59:43):
Yeah, the show's not for everybody, but it was cool
for what it was and funny enough.
Speaker 1 (59:47):
But getting back into Summerstad for a second, funny enough,
you know, notice how they said there's.
Speaker 3 (59:51):
Gonna be like no more post show scrums.
Speaker 1 (59:53):
Like you know, whether you do the press conference and
the media asking question Yeah, and now with brack Lesner
coming back, I know exactly why.
Speaker 3 (01:00:00):
They decided to do that.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Too many questions.
Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
Yeah, I will admit.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
I will admit like when like on Triple H, gets
some asked about these things, like about like the vin stuff,
and whenever he ends up getting asked about the Brock stuff,
his responses don't really make him come off the best.
Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
M Yeah, but no more of that though, no more
press conference.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
So well, he's gonna be asked about it at some point.
Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
I know that, just not in that setting because like
remember when they asked him, like at the press conference
after Bad Blood about like you know, why there's a
lack of like black male main inventors in the company,
and like the response he had to that, Oh yeah, yeah,
I talked to way Keller about that before. Yeah, we
had a discussion about that, and like way Keller basically said,
like he could have very easily said like just be patient.
(01:00:48):
We have a lot of great talent in NXT who's
that's on the come up. Just give it a while
and trust you're gonna see a lot of them coming
up in the months to come.
Speaker 3 (01:00:56):
But like what he chose to say instead, it was kind.
Speaker 1 (01:00:58):
Of like eh, because yeah, even Cody Roads, like when
the Vince thing first started, even Cody Rhoads had a
better response about the whole Vin's allegations than Triple H dude, gotcha?
Speaker 3 (01:01:10):
Yeah, funny.
Speaker 1 (01:01:10):
Cody Road just opened up recently about why he left.
Aw We're talking about how it was a company he created,
and he kind of felt like, you know, he wasn't
being like, I guess, respected the way he should be respected.
And I guess he felt to himself, if I'm gonna
be treated this way in a company I created, I
might as well go back to the other company that's more.
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
Established where I can like do more.
Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Gotcha all right?
Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
Man?
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
So yes, that's your Summer Slam twenty twenty five. I
would say Night one and Night two were both pushed
over the top by both of the respective main events.
I'll give Night one to seven out of ten, and
I'll give Night two and eight out of ten. But overall,
it was just a great experience to be there. It's
just a different vibe being at a wrestling show in person,
especially a big show like SummerSlam in a big stadium,
just being surrounded by all those great wrestling fans. They
(01:01:56):
got to meet a lot of cool people throughout the weekend.
I'm gonna meet a lot more cool people tonight when
I go to Row two. Funny enough, this is gonna
be my first Raw I attend live since April.
Speaker 3 (01:02:05):
Of two thousand.
Speaker 2 (01:02:07):
Wow. That long.
Speaker 3 (01:02:11):
The last Raw I went to.
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
In person was the Raw after WrestleMania two thousand when
The Rock beat the Big Boss Man and Bob Buchanan
in the cage match to get the title shot against
Triple Aha Backlash, and then Triple hit him with the
brass Nucks.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
And made him read Yeah. It was like right after
WrestleMania two thousand. That's the last Row I went to.
Speaker 2 (01:02:27):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (01:02:28):
Yeah, my seats sucks so bad for that show. My
seats were behind the Titan Tron dang sections.
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
Jeez, well, I hope you enjoy yourself. Man, it's gonna
it's gonna be uh yeah, give us a few weeks
before I show up again on uh yep, do you
begin He's gonna be things gonna be different for me.
So but yeah, but I'll get back on track with uh,
with with everything, just not just with this podcast, but
(01:02:55):
just with life itself. So we'll see what's gonna happen
from there, and uh yeah, and I can't wait for
Raw later tonight, and a lot of questions and answers
that must a lot of questions that need to be answered.
Speaker 1 (01:03:06):
So yes, I'm gonna be there in person. I'm gonna
post some more from it for you guys to look at.
Speaker 3 (01:03:13):
Check out.
Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
Yeah, I'm gonna be live with Rod Bark play Center.
Looking forward to it because usually little ras after these
big shows like WrestleMania and SummerSlam really deliver.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
And if if it could be anywhere.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Near as good as that Raw after WrestleMania was, all
these shit is, they're going to be fun tonight, I.
Speaker 2 (01:03:30):
Can't wait for it. So that's ladies and gentlemen, we're
jetting off today and Jonathan Randall and Kirk Cadet stay safe,
stay blessed, and always stay adventurous.

this is Conscious Kurt with another edition of Flash Champions,
Take care, have a good win, and remember don't be
(01:04:02):
an asshole, ord douchebag in real life.
Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
For social media, because that toxic bullshit is for the birds.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
Take care of one is
