Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yo yo, what is going on? My fellow wrestling fans.
Welcome to a brand new week, and welcome to a
brand new edition of what we like to call the
Clash of Champions, where we dive headfirst into all the controversy, storylines,
and personalities and everything in between that center around this
world we know and love as professional wrestling for better
(00:22):
or words s. I'm your host, the vegan you believe
in Conscious Kurt aka the Professor aka Kurt GPT and
the Pleasures Always, and my co host needs no introduction,
but the hell with it.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
He's about to give y'all one anyway.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
That's right, Ladies and gentlemen, this is Jonathan Randall, his
tag team partner, the Adventure himself, and today, Ladies and Gentlemen,
is our special Back in Time Wrestling rewind episode as
we hop into our wrestling DeLorean as we head back
to May of two thousand and two, as we're reviewing
Judgment Day, Ladies and gentlemen, Before we get into that,
(00:57):
we do have some you know, still some wrestling news
we want to speed up to date.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Man.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
I know, Kurt, I know you had a rough night
last night. Sorry about your knicks, Man, That was a
tough one.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
That was a very tough loss. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
I did not see that shit coming because they were
up literally like sixteen seventeen points in the fourth quarter.
They were up by nine points with less than a
minute ago, and they slipped up.
Speaker 3 (01:24):
Look, I'm gonna tell you this though. Look I already know.
I expect not only this series, but also the Thunder
and Timberwol series to go seven games with Tyler Halliburton
doing you know the infamous you know Reggie Miller, you know,
a choke gesture, just like just like he did back
(01:46):
in ninety four. This is really good for the league,
you know, these NBA playoffs, especially these two series.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
It was really exciting. Man. Yeah, it's gonna be a
long ass series.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
I knew it wasn't gona be easy going into it,
but motherfucker, that game was ours. That game was ours,
and then just in that last few minutes we let
it slip away.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
But you happened again.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
You and Steven a are hurting right now because this.
He was hurting on first take this morning.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
Of course he was. Of course he was hurting.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Yeah, he was, like he's talking about his top five
worst NICK playoff moments. And I think number one was
that that game seven or ninety four in the finals.
Speaker 2 (02:30):
Yeah, that's one of them.
Speaker 1 (02:31):
Also the game seven in the ninety five Conference Semis
with the Nixon Pacers where Patrick Ewing missed a finger
role at.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
The last minute. Yeah, that's that was crazy man.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
That was the end of pat Riley being the coach too.
That's when he left to go to the Heat right
after that. Oh yeah, it is what it is. But
yet's still going to be a long series, that Thunder
and Timberwolf series. I'm not so sure about after like
that first game went.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
The way it did, and I think we'll go seven.
Maybe we'll see.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
But what happens tonight, and especially considering that SGA is
the MVP, he's probably gonna get a trophy tonight, I
think the Thunder will probably going to the finals.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
The way it's looking now, I'm okay with it.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
I mean, I kind of do want the timb Rowles
to go because they've been a very just great team overall,
and not only this year but last year, last couple
of years they have been. But as for s A
G though, congratulations to him winning the you know, this
year's MVP. Second Canadian basketball player to win m v
(03:31):
P first time since.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Steve Nash Steven, which many people think he shouldn't have
gotten the first one for whatever reason. They kind of
feel like maybe Shack should have gotten it that year,
But is what it is.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Well, I thought it was the one when because he
won a five and six, Right, they're saying the one
he won in six should have belonged to Kobe.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Yeah, I've heard that too, but like the main one
I always hear arguments for is five because when Shaq
like first got to the heat that first seas, then
he was on a tear.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
He was killing him.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
But people do say he should have gotten in n
O seven instead of Dirk. Really yeah, I've always heard that,
Like he had as good of a season, if not
a better season than Dirk that year.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
But I mean, is what it is. But I think
we've talked about basketball long enough.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
Although coming out of this playoff series with the Knicks
and Pacers, especially after Tyrese Halliburton was on Rob Monday,
I'm starting to have a feeling that they're going to
do with tag team matches Summer Slam involving Tyrese Halliburton
and Jalen Brunson kind of high like it did with
Robin and Karl Malone all those years ago. I'm starting
to feel like they're going to do that with these two.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I'm all for it. I'm all for it, and especially
considering that Summer Slam is going to be out here.
It makes perfect sense.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
It does. And it's funny because this past Monday on Raw,
Michael Cole and Pac McAfee made a bet, Yeah and
Pacers series. It was an interesting bet. So if the
Knicks win, right who Michael Cole is chairing for Pat mcife,
he needs to wear a suit.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
And then if the Pacers win, Michael Cole has to
wear a tank top. Wow, looks like Pat McAfee better
get fitted for a suit.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
He knows he will good in the suit and not
like the soume he wore WrestleMania thirty five with the
shorts that Michael Cole went off on him about thirty five.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Yeah, that is he first started like appearing with w
W at WrestleMania thirty five on the kickoff show and
he was wearing like, oh, he was wearing those suits
that you know have like the shorts as the part
of the pants as opposed to like the long pants. Yeah,
and Michael cole like saw that and flipped out on him,
Like Michael cole like pitched him out. And it was
almost the point where like McAfee was going to walk up,
but then Ben saw it, and then Vin saw the
(05:45):
shorts and he was cool with it. And then Michael
cole like apologized to him afterwards, and they you know,
squashed it and they've been friends ever since that. Yeah,
so funny the relationships started that way.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, I kind of remember that story now though, but
I try to forget about that WRESTLEMANI because I don't
really like that one too much, so I don't remember
that one.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
It wouldn't have been that bad if it had been shorter, Like,
if it had been two hours shorter, it would have
been a fine WrestleMania. But the fact that they dragged
that shit on and on, and funny enough, the same
stadium where that WrestleMania was it is the same stadium
where Summer Slam is gonna be fingers crossed.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
It's a better show, I bet it. What a bet
it is? I bet it is.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
But speaking of New York, congratulations to Damian priest as
this past weekend, he was inducted into the Bronx Hall
of Fame.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yeah, I saw that. Congratulations to him, man, he well deserved.
He was just all over the place during this whole
week Man, he was at the Yankees game. He was
even at the Knicks game the other day. He even
took a picture of Bad Bunny.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
Of course, he took a picture of Bad Bunny. That's
his own boy. Yeah, I know, yeah, I know.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
It's funny, like, you know, like they had that that
historic match, a backlash a couple of years ago though,
but yeah, it was really cool to see those two,
you know, take a picture of each other.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
So yeah, definitely, And I'm looking forward to seeing what
Bad Bunny does in Happy Gilmore too. Trailer draft for
it the other day.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
Yes, comes out next month. Yeah, comes out in July,
so oh July. Yeah, Bad Bunny's going to be in it.
Becky Lynch is going to be in and also MJF
is going to be in it.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
I can't wait for that.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yeah, definitely. So yeah, shout out to Damian Poice forgetting
that induction. Well deserved. I know, he's a new York
writer died, Puerto Rico Rider died. Yeah, it's only fitting
and got inducted into the Bronx Hall of Fame. And
also congratulations to Darby Allen who this past week climbed
out Everest.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
I saw that.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
That's crazy, man. That is a that's a huge stat
that's a huge accomplishment.
Speaker 2 (07:39):
And he plans to the a W flag on there
apparently really yeah apparently so of course, yo, but props.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Then, I know he was taking time off to do
that and apparently like a lot of people die from
doing that climb, but yo, he survived and he made
it to the top.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
That's good.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, good ship. So, yeah, you finally get accomplished that.
But I gotta give credit to that dude. He definitely
feels like somebody who's like a risk taker who lives
life to the fullest and more ways than one. And
it's like, you're going to add another feet to that list.
Speaker 2 (08:11):
Good shit. But let's send our best wishes to Jim
Ross as it was actually announced last week as we
were recording that he has colon cancer.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
Yeah we forgot to mention that in the last week's episode,
but yeah, he's been diagnosed with colon cancer, and just
I feel really bad from our prayers go out to him.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
And his family right now.
Speaker 3 (08:31):
And he's been through a lot pretty much like throughout
his whole life, you know, from the Belle Posby and
then you know, of course I remember when he lost
his wife and now this, so he's.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
God. I will hate anything you know will happen. We
don't want that. By far.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
The greatest announcer in wrestling history by far.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yeah, hands down, And yeah, I hope he recovers from this,
Hope he survives this, and hope he still lives on
a few more years.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Definitely thinking about him, yes, But something.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Else we're thinking about is Saturday Night's main event that
is going to be taking place this Saturday from Tampa, Florida,
which should be the first of four shows w W
will be doing in Tampa from Saturday to Tuesday. And
as of right now, we have four matches on the card,
and before we get into our wrestling delorium, we're going
to give you our predictions for some of those matches.
So in a non title match, we have John Cena
(09:27):
taking on the dude who has looked up to him
ever since he was a kid, who's always idolized John
Cena from day one, even though he's older than him.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Our True Osha Jackson Jr.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
Was surprise about how it is a non title match,
and he's like, come on, our Truth should win.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Did you you watched that face to face interview if
he had on SmackDown.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
With Wade Barrett? Of course I did.
Speaker 3 (09:54):
Yeah, very honest and very intense from Our Truth what
he plans to do to John Zena on Saturday Night's
main event, and.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
You know what else you better plan on doing against
John Cena? What losing because he's going to lose to
Sena in this match. I love Our Truth, he's entertaining,
he's great and all, but come on, Son, we all
know how this is going to turn out. I know, yeah,
I think John Sen is gonna give him a brutal,
like vicious ass beating. I think that's what's going down here.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
This is gonna be just completely one sided.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Possibly.
Speaker 1 (10:31):
I don't see it being a long match by any stretch,
especially considering that they're going to be out of time constraints.
So yeah, I think Seena's gonna beat the hell out
of him. Kind of what happened to Jimmy ousso with
the hands of going through before WrestleMania, could may be
something along those lines. But yeah, it's definitely winning this one,
no questions asked. Okay, But in a match that does
look interesting that I'm looking forward to is a steel
(10:53):
cage match, as we have Samian Priest against McIntire to
finally settle their feud once.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
And for all.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
I love this idea of them having this match, and
after what I saw at Backlash, I was like, yeah,
but you know, they hate each other, they don't want
that US title, But I love the idea of this
match still cage match between these two. Drew McIntyre already
got his victory at WrestleMania, so I think it's time
to switch over. Damian Priest gets to win.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Yeah, I think he gets the win too. But I'm
really looking forward to this.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
I hope they're given enough time to like tell a
good story and put on a classic and if they are, yo,
I can't freaking wait.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
I'm sure they will. I'm sure they will. It's a
still cage match, you know what I mean. So I
know they're going to put in the time and an
effort for it so, and also let's you know, I'm
hoping for a great match as well.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
They delivered at WrestleMania. I over exceeded my expectations in
this match, and I believe they'll do the same thing
this Saturday.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
Yeah, they delivered at WrestleMania. They delivered in that four
way Backlash, so I expect nothing less here. So let's
get it popping, okay, And also in a tag match
that I'm really looking forward to. This should definitely be fun.
We have CM Punk and Sammy's Ain reluctant tag team partners,
taking on Seth Rollins and bron Breaker.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
You know what, I never really had like much thought into,
you know, what will be the ending for it. But
I remember you, like, you know, last week in a
couple weeks ago, you were talking about is there possibly
like another man, a third man on the side along
with Seth, Ronins and bron Breaker. And I think that's
(12:33):
Sammy's A. And I think Sammy's A is gonna turn
on sam Punk in this match.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I do think that samyse Ain could possibly turn on Punk,
but I don't think it's gonna happen here. Oh, I
think they might tease it a little bit for a
while until it eventually happens. But I don't think it's
gonna happen here. But I do think Rollins and Breaker will.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
Pick up the win.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
And honestly, they need to pick up the win because
ever since they formed this new stable, neither one of
them have like a they should be like won a match.
All their matches have been like a no contest, have
gotten thrown out or whatever. So yeah, they need to
pick up a win here.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
And I need to get more heat. Yeah right, because.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
Everyone was very upset about like the ending of the
Breaker in jay Usso match on Rob Monday, considering that
they you know, built it for a week and it
just like ended on undersqualification.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
So yeah, this does that need to end the same way.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
That needs to be a clear cut winner, and I
think it's gonna be Rolinson Breaker.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Okay. I wonder if Breaker is.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Gonna come out wearing like another wacky outfit like Rollins
does to kind of like play off of him.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
I mean brown Breaker always wearing you know, multi colored outfits.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
No, but I mean like you know, wearing like a
like I'll feel like crazy, like out of whack, like
Rollins doesn't like dancing around like he does too.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
To see all right, but yeah, I have Rolins and
Breaker winning, and in the main events, we have jay
Uso defending his World Heavyweight Championship against the douchebag fuck Logan.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Your mortal enemy, Logan Hall.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
He society's mortal enemy. You see how this due behaves.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Of course, he's in chiefs bro.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
He's just out of nowhere in these past couple of weeks,
he's just been cheap shoting jay us.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Out of nowhere. Yeah, and you know what cheap shots
you you know what acting cheap and acting like a
doucheback fuck is gonna get you.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
It's gonna get him beat because Jus retained his title
and he will go on to face Gunther on RAW
on June ninth.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Yes, and I did like that segment between Gunther and
Logan Paul on Monday, Oh my god. I loved it
where gun Throw is like basically saying if you beat
ja Uso, I'm gonna take that as disrespect because I
want to beat him. And he said, like, if you
end up beating him, I'm gonna eat you alive. But
we all know that's not happening. Jus retains the title.
He hasn't officially won a match since he beat gunthro WrestleMania,
(14:51):
so I think he definitely wins this one, and all
roads lead to him and Guenther and Phoenix.
Speaker 2 (14:58):
I agree.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
So as of now, that's your Saturday Night's main event card.
There could be maybe one more match added, possibly a
women's match tomorrow night on SmackDown, but that's the card
for what it is. I'm looking forward to the cage match.
The tag match I also think should be fun, and
I think the World Heavyweight title match in a way
will be fun and cool for what it is too.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
I mean, I know that that dude is your moral
enemy though, but you got to remember, Kurt, that Logan
Paul is a great talent in the ring, and he's
never he never disappoints in the ring, never disappoints it
in any of his matches. So I don't see anything
short between those two. I think that match is still
(15:40):
cage match, will be your top two best matches from
that night.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Yeah, so let's get it pop in this Saturday at
Saturday Night's main event. There's also going to be aw
Doubled to Nothing this Sunday too.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
I heard that I think NXT take A sales are
not doing well this weekend, and.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
Yeah for one of those shows, yes, supposedly they are.
We're gonna cancel it, but I gotta right into that.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
Yeah, that's uh. I mean, look, whenever they're doing these
this full weekend list of shows in one city, you know,
is a big debate about is it too much or
is the ticket prices?
Speaker 2 (16:17):
You know what I mean? So I don't know, yeah,
is what it is?
Speaker 1 (16:21):
Could be anything, but yeah, we do have aw double
to Nothing this weekend, which feels like a much less
big deal compared to with what it has felt in
recent years. It's gonna be in Phoenix, it's gonna not
be in a Vegas like it usually is, and yeah,
it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Really feel like the big deal that it usually does.
But who knows.
Speaker 1 (16:38):
They can still put on a great show for us. Yeah,
they have anarchy at the arena with some women being
involved this time, so that should be interesting.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
It'll be a nice switch up.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
They have the men's and women's Own Hard Cup finals
matches including Hangman Adam Page against Will Osprey and also
Mercedes Money against Jamie Hayter. M.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
Yeah. People have been clowning Jamie Hater's look saying that
she looks.
Speaker 3 (17:01):
Like one of the girls from Scooby Doom, which one
Daphne or Velma.
Speaker 2 (17:06):
The redhead like with the glasses or whatever. Daphne, Yeah,
no Velma, Velma, Velma. Sorry that she looks like her
with her new look. It's not a bad thing. She
still looks good to me. I'm not hating.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Yeah, but damn internet wrestling fans for you, they'll find
anything to.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
Criticize, right, exactly, all right, by.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
My brother, Are you ready to jump into our wrestling delorium?
Speaker 3 (17:32):
Oh yes, definitely, let's hop into that delorian baby. Let's
head back to May two thousand and two.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Oh yes, A great time, a great time to be alive.
I have a lot of great memories of this time period.
So yeah, for a second.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
So.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
May two thousand and two was a setting. I didn't
need to look this up. This was a very easy catch.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Boo.
Speaker 3 (17:57):
Can you tell me what was the number one movie
in mayor to two?
Speaker 1 (18:00):
Well, the number one movie that month was Spider Man,
which I actually saw two weeks before this show, which
actually should have cameo by the late Macho Man Randy Savage. Unfortunately,
the other day was the anniversary when he passed away,
which is one of the reasons why I'm wearing his shirt.
And yeah, I remember seeing that movie in the theaters.
It was fun for what it was. I don't like
it as much anymore, but I did enjoy it. Why, Yeah,
(18:23):
compared to like some of the later Spider Man's and
especially like according to many people who were like hardcore
Spider Man heads and you know, Marvel heads, and I
really got fond of that Spider Man.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I like that one between the out of the three
Tobey Maguire films, right, the second one was the first
two second, Yeah, they'll say the second one was the best,
the best one of all, Like it's the first two.
A lot of people love, you know what I mean.
And but yeah, I remember when the first one came out.
(18:54):
My brother, my middle brother, Miles, was a huge Spider
Man fan. He was excited for that movie. Loved it.
Speaker 2 (19:01):
It was funny.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
I was actually just watching that movie a couple of
months ago. But yeah, I like Spider Man. I liked
it for what it was.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
It was good.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
It was a different it was a really different approach.
Another movie that came out that month, Star Wars Episode two,
Attack of the Clones, came out about a couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Later, we get this judgment date.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
Actually, yeah, it was a bit of a like mixed
reviews though, but you know, the pre cool trilogy gets
it first at first. At that time he gets a
bad rap though, But over the years, especially now, it's
kind of gotten more accepted by the Star Wars fans
like me, and I've always liked the prequel trilogy.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
But I never watched any of them. I can't judge
it from that perspective, but I'll take your word for it.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Yeah you were, you were with your friend, he was
watching them and or correct, Yeah he was watching a
little bit of that.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
I mean I didn't know what was going on, but yeah,
he was watching it.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Yeah, Because you asked me, have I watched I was like, no,
I haven't. I mean I want to watch. I heard
how good it is, so eventually I will start it, though,
But but yeah, I'm trying to remember.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
It was another good movie that came out that month.
I think Undercover Brother came up. Undercover Brother not after this.
I actually is like a few weeks after the show.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
Have you watched that movie?
Speaker 1 (20:19):
I haven't watching it in years, but I did like it,
like at that time, like I've lapped my ass off
when I saw it in the theaters.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
It's a it's a guilty pleasure. Yeah, my brothers, it
is a legit guilty pleasure movie.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
I was watching that movie like a year ago because
I was on Prime and I was like, oh my god,
I haven't watched this in forever, and I free that
movie is just so like stupid silly in a way, though,
but it's a guilty pleasure movie that I like, huh yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Very stupid silly. Just say that least.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
Just the stuff they were doing. I was like, really, you.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
Know what movie actually came out, like a few weeks
before this show, The Scorpion King. Oh, that came out
in May. I thought that wait then that came out
or yeah, but that's what I said a few weeks
before the show.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Oh okay. The hype for that movie, like, don't get
me wrong, Like look when when the Rock was in
The Mummy Returns, that was different, you know what I mean?
Because he was only there for a few minutes. That
was a big deal. But this was the Rock's first
full length movie.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Yeah it was.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
You know, it was a big deal, you know what
I mean. And I remember I think I watched. I
think I watched the day it opened, if I remember so,
did I?
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Yeah, I go to this hangout area like where it
was like the mall and the movie theater and like
a whole bunch of restaurants. It was like the hangout
for everybody, like every weekend from school. Yeah, it would
always be there every single weekend. I saw mad movies
during that yeh wow.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
I feel like.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
Two thousand and two was like a really like a
special you know, time for my childhood, just like when
it came to the movies though. I remember just there
was like a lot of good movies that came out
throughout that year. It's funny you mentioned Velma and Daphne
because Scooby Do, the Scooby Doo movie, came out that year.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Oh yeah it did.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
Actually kind of I have like my child dldhood kind
of like has a guilty pleasure for that movie too, though,
because I kind of liked that movie.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Ain't gonna lie, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Because I was only ten years old at time.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
I get it.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
One horrible movie I actually saw during this period with
this movie called The New Guy.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
You know what? You know what is that the dude
we're in high school where he's like, he's like he
pretends he's somebody else at a different high school.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Right, Yeah, Eddie Griffin like mentors him, like he means
Eddie Griffin in prison and like Eddie Griffin like mentors
him about how to be cool and how to get girls.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Yeah that movie, Kurt Okay, be honest with you. So
I actually watched that movie for the very first.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Time with my girlfriend Samantha.
Speaker 3 (22:37):
A year ago because I had heard of it and
I was like, I just I never like man, right
Because I walked in the room and I was like,
what are you watching?
Speaker 2 (22:45):
I was like huh.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
I was like, can you like start back all over again.
I want to sit down and watch this with you.
And I kind of ain't gonna lie. I was laughing.
There was a good handful of scenes when I was
kind of laughing, ain't gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
I remember putting it off with my friend, well, yeah,
my friend Ellen. Also my other friend is twin brother Ben,
Like I went to their house to put it on
once after the first like twenty minutes, they maybe turn
it off.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Really they didn't like it. They hated it. They were like, yo,
turn this shit off right now.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
How old were you in two thousand and two, Kurt,
I was sixteen six I just turned sixteen right before
this judgment day.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Yeah, I just turned sixteen, So you were I was, Yeah,
this was the end of my freshman year of high school.
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Yes, ah, I see, I see. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:28):
So like I was like writing that, like you know,
age bracket. But yeah, looking back at it now, yes,
it's not a movie. I would go back and watch.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
I'm looking at the list of these movies. Man, there's this,
Oh my god, there's this too many good movies that
came out this year. Man.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
John Q came out in two thousand and two. John
Hugh's probably my favorite movie from that year, John Q,
eight Mile and Catch Me if you Can. Men in
Black two came out. Let's crazy. I get the fuck
out of my face with that one.
Speaker 3 (23:55):
Well, I'm just saying it came out.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
That's all a movie. It was trash.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
There's this have you ever seen this movie called a
like Mike, Oh, yeah, the bout Wow one of course
I've seen.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
Yeah, Yeah, it was. It was cool for what it was.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
I think.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Oh, Blade two came out in two thousand and two.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Yeah, came out like right around the time of WrestleMania. Yeah,
it came out like in yeah, March.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
Wow, there are a couple that's crazy. There is a
couple of movies that came out that year. I kind
of did not care, cared too much for I think, uh,
let's see James Bond Died Another day. I look back
at that movie. Yeah, I kind of didn't like care
too much for it. Let's see have you ever seen
(24:38):
Antoine Fisher?
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Of course? Good movie? Yeah movie, another good movie. Yeah,
Denzel directed it. Yeah, Denzel directed it. I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Let's see You ever seen Signs?
Speaker 1 (24:52):
I never saw Signs. I always heard, like, you know,
mixed things about it. Never got to see it. It's
so crazy. I was just talking about this, like recently
about Milk Gibsen, about how big of a deal he
used to be, how many like major movies he was
always in, and then after that whole like controversy happened
with him, he just.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Like fell off the face of the planet. Wow. Hey,
I can't really feel bad for him, and kind of
did it to.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Himself, but still yeah, so Barbershop, Barbershop came out and
O two.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
Yeah, oh yeah, wow, damn.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Be honest, the barbershops were slid. To be honest, all
the barbershop movies were solid.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
Hell yeah, if I'm being quite honest, if you're kind
of like the second one.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Second one was cool, But to be honest, the third
one was actually way better than I thought it would be. Really,
I wasn't expecting anything out of the third one because
I'm like, yo, these dudes are making another barbershop movie
like fourteen years later, Like, who's really gonna be interested
in this? And then all of a sudden, I hear
it got like a ninety percent approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes.
I'm like, bro, ninety percent for Barbershop, And then I
(25:55):
got I heard all these good reviews about it. Then
when I watched it, I'm like, Okay, it was good.
It was very good because they played off with the
whole Chicago like gang violence and gun violence that was
going on like during that period.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
That's like a big part of the movie. Wow.
Speaker 1 (26:09):
And it's crazy ice Cube and Common are both in
it together when they used to have beef back in
the day.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
I did not know ice Cube and Common beef with
each other. That's crazy.
Speaker 2 (26:17):
Yeah, the nineties.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yeah, and that song Common had I used to love
her that song, I used to love her where he
talks about like you know a girl that moved away
to LA and changed up on him, and then he
mentioned how the song is hip hop.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
In the end, Lott of West Coast rappers ice Cube
in particular, took offense to that, talking about the whole
LA aspect of it. So an ice Cube distance back
and then Common distance back. Yeah, they reaped like a
ride like ninety five ninety six.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
I did not know that. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
But then after Biggie died, after Biggie and Poc died,
they decided to squash it.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Yeah, I mean right after I mean I think you know,
when Puck and Biggie died. I think that's when pretty
much the whole hip hop community was like, Okay, we
need to stop beefing with each other, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
So and so fifty Cent and jaw Wu came along.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
And speaking of Ja rule and speaking of Ja Rul
during this time frame. In May of two thousand and two,
jav Rul, Ashanti and Murder Inc. Were on top of
the music world. What was the number one song, Foolish
from Ashanti?
Speaker 3 (27:13):
Hmm.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
Song was a massive hit.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Ashanti was like the first demo artist from what I understand,
that had three songs in the top ten at the
same time.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Eminem's album The Eminem Show came out that month. That's
I heard.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Yeah, The Eminem Show did come out that month. This
is probably the peak of Eminem's popularity was two thousand
and two.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Oh hell yeah, without all, without a doubt, with.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
The Eminem Show with eight mile, Yeah, he was on
fire in two thousands.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
So damn two. I don't want to go back, man.
But Ja Rule and Murder Inc. Were on fire during
this time, Like jav Wu had all those different singles
with all the different women, Like he had those songs
with j Lo, he had the songs with a Shanti,
and Ashanti herself was killing it with Foolish also with
that What's Love song with Fat Joe and she also
Always on Time was a huge hid So yeah, she
(28:01):
had like all those songs in the top ten all
at once.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
That's crazy, man, I damn I want to go back
that year, man, Like so you were you were living
Fullard at the time. Correct.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
Yes, I was living in Davy, Florida. I was in
my first year of high school. That ended my freshman year,
and it was a fun time.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
Man.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
I always look back at my freshman year of high
school with a lot of good memories.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
Because that was kind of like the year I really
started to come out of my shell and like really
started to make like the close friends that I still
have now, and like you start to you know, have fun,
go out more like be more of a normal kid,
because like before then, admittedly I wasn't much of a
normal kid.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
So like this year was like really more of my
coming out party. And that's like a main reason why
I look back and its so.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
Finally gotcha, I was about to say. So May of
two thousand and two, I was ten years old. I
was living in San Diego. San Diego, Oh yeah, I was.
I think at that time. I was playing baseball at
the time though, But pretty much that's like literally like
(29:07):
the core of my childhood, Like I was literally just
my childhood was just amazing. Not trying to brag, but
like just having so much fun, man, just you know,
being outside with my friends, you know, or you know,
playing video games and just watching you know, so watching
you know, some cartoons here other than wrestling. But yeah,
(29:31):
that was the neighborhood that I lived during that time.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Was just was amazing.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Like everybody in our neighborhood knew each other from the kids,
my friends, my parents, everybody knew each other in that neighborhood.
It was just it was an amazing time. And when
I look back, especially with the movies, it's just like, man,
I felt like I watched like a lot of movies
on that list. I felt like I watched compared to now,
I felt like, like movies now just eh, you know, yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
I'm telling you man that like that hangout we would
go to every weekend where the movie theater was, and
the mall wasn't all that.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Yeah, I was seeing movies all the time.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I mainly went out there just to hang out with friends,
but since the movie theater was there, I'm like, fucking
let me go to.
Speaker 2 (30:13):
The movie store. Yeah. Yeah, it was a simpler time.
That's the thing.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Like eventually we graduated the cooler places to hang out
with and cooler places to go, but during that time frame,
it was called the oasis that place was the hangout
spot on the weekends.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
I bet and I was in the fourth grade and
just living in San Diego. They called San Diego America's
finest city for a reason. It is absolutely beautiful. The
weather is just absolutely amazing. Just living in a great
city like that, in a great neighborhood, great friends. Just
(30:46):
words cannot describe how amazing, you know, during that time
was you know what I mean, especially and also grown
up as as a wrestling fan as well, because I
was ten.
Speaker 2 (30:55):
And I was just obsessed, obsessed. You know, you're.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Every Monday night, Thursday night, you know, raw SmackDown, and
then you're just I'm just captivated by it. And just
like I think, if it's anything, any advice I want
to give to everybody, don't take your childhood for granted.
Don't take your childhood for granted, because I really enjoyed,
(31:24):
enjoyed mine.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
I wish I could go back and went.
Speaker 3 (31:26):
By the fascin than I expected. But don't take it
for granted, and enjoy your childhood, every moment of it,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
So, yeah, enjoy your childhood. Also enjoy your teen years too,
because yeah, those years they'll fly by.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
Just like that.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Yeah, and through the good the bad, you always want
to look back on those times and like look back
on it with happy memories and good memories as opposed
to bad ones.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
I mean, it's not always perfect. There's always going to
be downsized every time period in your life, but especially
your childhood and like your teen years in my case,
you always want to look back on those years and say, like, yo,
I have fun.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
Exactly, and that I had so much fun, man, Like
I had Oh man, It's like.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
It was so much fun, dude.
Speaker 3 (32:12):
Not just two thousand and two though, but like even
all my few years living in San Diego was so
much fun.
Speaker 2 (32:17):
I was pretty much like the core of my childhood,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
And yeah, it's funny to say, but like, honestly, my
ninth grade year of high school, like this time period,
it's one of my favorite times of high school period.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
I mean, senior year was great, don't get me wrong.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
The year I wrote my story about that was fun
at all, But it was just something about ninth grade
that was different, you know what.
Speaker 3 (32:37):
I think, the way how you felt about ninth grade,
that's how I felt like when I was about to
jump into middle school about a year later because I
was in the fourth grade. Later two thousand and two,
I'll be in the fifth grade. But then three when
I start sixth grade, that's when I started to like
started to see that change. And I was like I
really adjusted to middle school and I started to grow
(32:59):
as a person and everything, and it was just.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
Like I was like, man, like this is great, you
know what I mean?
Speaker 1 (33:04):
And yeah, yeah, it was just a good vibe, man, Yeah,
I was. I was in the chorus class like one
of my best friends, Dane Malcolm. Yeah, we were in
the chorus class together because like we both liked to
he was a really good singer. I was like trying
to learn how to sing myself. He made that class
so much fun just being a part of it. Like
we always just hung out together, mooved around together.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
And me and him were like two of only ten
guys in that class compared to like thirty girls. So yeah,
it was an interesting dynamics.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
It was funny how the area where I lived at
so I at that time, I was in elementary school.
We went to this I went to this school called
Doris Miller Elementary. Doris Miller is one of the Sailors
they named after one of this is he's a black
US Navy sailor that was in Pearl Harbor. Yeah, they
named it after him, Oh Clutch. Yeah, but yeah, that
(33:54):
was that was the elementary school I went to. And
it's crazy how like my whole neighborhood was because if
you hearing that where my elementary school is, you keep
driving right and then there's like a big park. There's
like a skate park, and there's like two or three
baseball fields. That's where I played baseball at Oh Clutch
during the Little League. And then kind of like on
(34:16):
the other side of that of my elementary school where
where the parks that where you had recess at across
the street there was the high school, and then another
block away that was the middle school. Because they were
literally like within each other. So yeah, see, if I
would have lived there longer, right because I was, I
(34:36):
only did one year middle school over there, then I moved.
If I would have stayed there longer, I would have
went to the high school over the I already knew, okay,
like this is the school I'm going to go to
or whatever, you know what I mean. So they're literally
were like just connected within each other.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
So, yeah, with my high school, like during that time,
there was like three different campuses. There was like one
campus for the ninth graders, one campus for the tenth graders,
and then one campus for the juniors and seniors.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
That's weird.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
That's why like my ninth grade experience let out so
much because all of us were like all on the
same like same campus, just all of us. Yeah, any
other of the classes in there, and the whole campus
was just portables. It wasn't like a building everything. The
whole campus was just portables. That's why we call it
the ninth grade annex.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Oh okay, you know what that's funny, man, because I
thought that that's like I feel like that's like an
East Coast thing for you guys man. Because all right,
so when I my freshman year of high school, I
was in Georgia, right, they did kind of like the
same thing which you guys did. They had the ninth
graders blocked away from the upper classmens. So they had
(35:41):
that one campus was just for ninth graders. The other
camp the other campus was for your sophomores, juniors to seniors. Yeah,
that's weird.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
We would have like maybe one class like some of
us would have maybe like one class on the main
campus and then we have to take a bus to
get to the ninth grade campus.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
I mean, like like for that for that high school
I went to. I mean, they were they were still
connected to each other though, but it's like that one.
Speaker 2 (36:07):
Building was just for the freshmen.
Speaker 1 (36:10):
It was weird, Yeah, but it is what it is,
but still a fun time. Definitely the time of my
life I'll never forget. But also what was fun during
this time was ww's product. And I have to say, like,
I know, it's not perfect. There was definitely some fault
you can find in it, but I definitely enjoyed WW
during this timeframe a lot more than I was enjoying
(36:31):
WW around that same time frame.
Speaker 2 (36:32):
The year before. Yeah, I agree, more it.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
Kind of felt like they had more of an identity.
They kind of felt like they were more moving into
the future. So I was like really enjoying the product
a lot more at this point compared to that year before.
And this is around the time the brand split, the
original brand split happened.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Yeah, And it's funny that you say that identity because
at this time they were still looking for the identity
and I always go back to what Vince McMahon said
during this time. During that time, I'm sorry there the
state of flux. You gotta remember the Rock was kind
of like transitioning to Hollywood.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, literally, and he.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
Was pretty much kind of like almost like a part
timer at the time. Austin is not too happy about
his position where he's at with the company at the time, right,
And we'll get into.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
That later because looking back and watching the show yesterday,
I could definitely see why he was very unhappy.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
Yeah, so they're trying to like, Okay, we got to
look for the next guy. And not only did they
were they in a state of transition. They were doing
so many different unique things, like the brand split was
like a good idea. And also the biggest change that
they ever made, which surprised the hell out of me,
(37:44):
was the business itself no longer was it WWF. Judgment
Day two thousand and two was the first pay per
view under the new WWE brand, World Wrestling Entertainment no
longer World Wrestling Federation. And I'll never forget the very
first time I saw WWE on the program, and I
remember I was watching Raw and I was like, was
(38:08):
was wait What the hell happened to logo? Why is
it ww I'm like, I'm I'm lost right now.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Yeah, it was weird, Like when I watched that raw
that night. Also, I'm like, yo, where the WWF logo go?
Why is it just the two w's?
Speaker 2 (38:22):
And then they started that new slogan, wwe get the
F out And be honest though, I did like some
of the skits they were doing for that, like that
one skit or the WWF sign is I got a
bar trying to hit on different girls and then one
girl hits them in the head with like a bottle
and the F sign falls off, and then all of
a sudden, all the girls like him. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
They were literally just coming up with so many ideas
trying to just you know, we're a new brand, and
I thought it was weird. I didn't at that time.
I didn't know why. I mean, I was only ten
years old. But to come to find out that there
was another WWF called the World Wildlife Foundation.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
I heard of it before.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
I actually heard of them a few years before this,
And like when I saw the WWF logos, I'm like,
wait a minute, that's not the WWF that I know.
And then I didn't think much of it, and then
lo and behold, a few years later they're forced to
change the name because of it.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Yeah, apparently they were trying to do that for years, yeah, bro,
trying to get them to change the name.
Speaker 2 (39:17):
I guess.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Yeah, but they made good use of it with like
the with the slogan and like, yeah, with those skits
and whatnot, so they you don't make good use of
it for you know the situation. One notorious incident that
happened during this time, actually right before this judgment day,
was the plane ride from Hell.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Oh yes, that one.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Yeah, yeah, we talked about that on this show before
freaking from a plane ride back from the UK going
to the States after their insurrection show. They even did
a dark Side of the Ring episode about this a
couple of seasons ago.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Yeah, the whole bunch of shit went down. Let's just
put it that way. A whole bunch of shit went down.
Too much? Oh yeah, too much, man, to.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
Be honest, The story of that plane ride from Hell,
all the stories that came out of that were like
a lot more interesting than this pay per view was.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
Yeah, because.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Ska Hall was on there.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
God rest his soul and he got released after this, right, Yes.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Scott Hall got released as a result of everything that
happened there. Also Kurt Henning got released because of that too.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
Damn.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Yeah, Kurt Henning got into this big like I don't
know if they were playing or whatnot, but him and
Blackleas and started wrestling each other around the plane. I
guess they were playing, but it got kind of intense
and like people started to get scared because they were
about to hit like the emergency door at one point. Yeah,
that would not have been a good look. And then
Rick Flair was like inappropriately hitting on the stewardess, like
(40:42):
he cornered her and like, you know, like kept like
flashing her and flashing her and like, yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
A whole ugly thing or ugly thing is what it is. Geez. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:59):
A lot of Rick Flair stories like of him getting
drunk and partying, yet he just doesn't come off well
in a lot of them.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
Yeah, but this was a different time. You know. It's
funny you talk about how different it was from last
year compared to two thousand and one to two thousand
and two, Like you look at the storylines of what
they were doing. It was definitely better than last year's
because right after Russell MANI seventeen, it didn't really feel
the same anymore. And then you jump into the following
(41:29):
year you're like, okay, this is this is better for
most of it. Yeah, you know, and the whole the
brand supplit was just a genius idea. It was wcw'
is no longer your competition, so what can you do
now we'll have competition within each other.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Yeah, they created the brand split where they had certain
people on ROS, certain people on SmackDown. And admittedly so
even during this time, and it would be even more
so later in the year, Smacked Down won that whole
brand spit. They were the way better show for the
majority of that time.
Speaker 3 (42:04):
Oh yeah, yeah, definitely, definitely, without no doubt.
Speaker 2 (42:10):
Yeah, SmackDown had Yeah Hogan, they had Jericho, they had Angle,
they had Edge, Triple h. Yeah, SmackDown was stacked and
even better as the year went on.
Speaker 3 (42:21):
I agree, So yeah, I was watching. So yeah, this
this event came took place from Nashville, Tennessee, at.
Speaker 1 (42:30):
The Gaylord Entertainment Center, which is a very odd name, but.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
I know, yeah, I know, it's a weird name, but yeah,
it's the home of the NHL's Nashville Predators hockey team.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
Yeah, but one sad thing that actually happened the weekend
of the show was the death of the British bulldog.
He died the Yeah, dude, I remember. So I did
not watch this pay per view live, right, well, I
kind of watched it live, but I watched it scrambled, like,
you know how, like they would have the oh.
Speaker 2 (42:58):
Yeah, bring me back. Yeah I get over, man.
Speaker 1 (43:01):
Yeah, I watched it that way because I just ordered
Backlash the month before, so I wasn't I wasn't able
to order, like, you know, two pay per views back
to back, So I just watched this one scrambling.
Speaker 3 (43:09):
Hey, man, you know it's funny that you say that,
because I remember, like a long time ago, I told
my girlfriend, like, us wrestling fans had a rough compared
to compared.
Speaker 2 (43:20):
To these new fans.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Now, y'all have it good now, compared to what me
and Kerr had to go through, like from ordering pay
per views, and those pay per views weren't cheap, okay.
Speaker 2 (43:32):
Really talking like damn near like almost four or fifty
dollars a month. And now.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
Before I started ordering the pay per views, I did
have like a black box where I could watch like
all the movie channels and pay.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
Per views for free. But then really yeah, but then
eventually we lost it. Eventually it didn't work anymore.
Speaker 3 (43:50):
Oh oh okay, I mean and look look, yeah, I
remember my dad was in the military at the time,
you know what I mean, So he was making that
military military money, you know what I mean. But yeah,
we had digital cable. But at the same time, it's
like that, you know, it's a lot, you know, to
order for a pay per view, you know what I mean.
(44:10):
So you're paying that and then if you missed the
pay per view, you had to wait till tomorrow to
find out what was gonna happen, what happened.
Speaker 2 (44:23):
Or you can go on ww dot com.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
You can still do that at the time, but yeah,
you would have to usually wait till the next night
on raw to find out.
Speaker 3 (44:29):
Yeah, and then don't get me started with the documentaries.
Oh my god, if there was a documentary about a superstar,
you got it. Yeah, you got to buy it on DVDs.
Those DVDs weren't cheap either man, or you got to
order it on pay per view too, like sometimes or yeah,
they had them all yeah, sometimes they did.
Speaker 2 (44:44):
Yeah, that's very true.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
But man, those those those DVDs weren't cheap. Man, We're
talking about damn near twenty dollars.
Speaker 2 (44:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
I remember when WrestleMania two thousand was on video, Like
when it came out on video, they charged forty dollars
for it. Forty yeah, for WrestleMania two thousand. Yeah, like
in two thousand they were charging a lot of money
for the VHS's damn.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
Crazy, yeah, but it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
But yeah, unfortunately the British Bulldog did the weekend of
this show you had. Funny enough, he was the same
age as me when he died.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
You know, It's funny what I used to do, so
if I I mean, look, I was a kid at
the time. You know I did have a bedtime, you
know what I mean. I will record raw every week.
Oh that's what's up on my VHS. My dad taught
me how to, you know, record, and I was like cool,
And every Monday I will record like every episode. And then
(45:39):
I remember the night after Judgement Day, I you know,
I came home from school and I'll watch what happened
and I.
Speaker 2 (45:46):
Was like, what British Bulldog passed away. I was, oh
my god, I was, oh no, yeah.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
So yeah, I brought me out. Like I didn't find
out that the next night on Raw either. Like when
I saw it and I saw the graphic on the screen,
I'm like, damn, British bulldog died.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
Fuck I.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
So when I was watching Judgment Day yesterday, right there
was somebody had a sign. Yeah, I said, rest in peace, Davy.
So apparently that person knew that the day of it
was obviously you know, he's older and he's probably know
online or whatever. It's funny how we talk about how
technology is now, but we forget, like, hey, this stuff
(46:23):
was still existing back then. Maybe not as advanced as
it is now, but you still had your emails AOL.
There was no social media that that's the only difference.
Speaker 2 (46:36):
Yeah, in some ways I wish it would go away,
but what are we going to do? True?
Speaker 3 (46:40):
But you know, it's another thing I forgot about to
mention about how great during that time was. I know
this doesn't relate to you though, but the video games
was just amazing during that time.
Speaker 2 (46:48):
Oh oh my god.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
Like I think SmackDown just bring It came out that year.
If I'm not just too many Dann Good video games
came out that year.
Speaker 1 (46:59):
I think shut you I think shut your Mouth came
out later that year or two.
Speaker 2 (47:03):
It was shut your You're right.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
It was shut your mouth, You're right.
Speaker 2 (47:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (47:09):
Yeah, But anyway, let's get into this Judgment Day show.
It's in May nineteen, two thousand and two from Nashville, Tennessee.
One thing I liked about this show, in addition to
the setup of it, like with the entrance and like
the tombstones and all that, was the theme song.
Speaker 2 (47:22):
The themes. I love the theme song.
Speaker 1 (47:24):
The theme song really fit the vibe of like the
whole Judgment Day concept perfectly.
Speaker 3 (47:30):
Yeah, I'm gonna tell you what though, it.
Speaker 1 (47:32):
Felt like a funeral, Like you know, watching this show,
like in the whole setup and like the graphics, it
really felt like a funeral.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
Yeah, I'm gonna tell you what though, like pretty much
throughout the whole year and just pretty much like throughout
the whole Ruthus Aggression era. I loved the theme songs
for the pay per views. That's it's because of wrestling.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
That's how I got in the rock and roll.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
Yeah, I have a lot of those songs in my
like workout playlist. Yeah, this is wrestling songs.
Speaker 3 (48:01):
Yeah, I tell everybody, like, you know, so how do
you get in rock and rolls? Like because of wrestling?
Because I tell them they used to they use rock
and roll to promote their events and me liking wrestling
and then the rock and roll literally just like it
blended in with each other perfectly, and I loved it.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
Yeah, it was great. Yeah, it really made you like
the look forward to the show even more. Yeah, exactly
the songs they use for the pls Now it just
doesn't hit the same, No.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
It doesn't. And I get it.
Speaker 3 (48:33):
Rock and roll is not mainstream as as it was
back then, and I missed that. It's it's it's heartbreaking
to say that because I I love rock and roll
just as much as I love hip hop, and I
wish that there could, you know, I wish it was, like,
you know, a little bit more mainstream.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
How it was back then.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
But yeah, you're right, But yeah, I love the theme song,
the yeah you're saying, the entrance, oh, and like dude,
the day they did a good job with their entrance
for every pay per view during this time, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
Yeah, but this is one of the better ones from
that time frame that sticks out to me was, Yeah,
this judgment really that one all the Judgment Days has
had the best entrance. Okay, yeah, it wasn't the best
they show, I won't say that, but as far as
the way the entrance looked, Yeah, the entrance was dope.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
I kind of like two thousand and five's entrance.
Speaker 2 (49:27):
Ain't gonna lie.
Speaker 1 (49:28):
Oh yeah, two thousands fives was dope to two thousand
and five also was a better show too, funny enough,
today's a twenty year anniversary of the.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Two thousand and five Judgment Day.
Speaker 4 (49:35):
Oh yeah, yeah, but at any event, Yeah, so, considering
all the graphics and like the whole tombstone aspect they
had like surrounding the show, I feel like that whole
getting Undertaker match would have been a burieder live match.
Speaker 3 (49:49):
All right. I don't know if you notice this during
one of the backstage interviews that they're doing it, it's
kind of it looks it's a weird way when you
you analyze it. But like there was one part where
Booker T was getting interviewed, Yeah, there was a noose.
Speaker 2 (50:10):
In the back. Oh I didn't catch that. No, I
didn't catch that.
Speaker 3 (50:15):
I they somebody talked about that years ago. They posted
a picture of that, and they didn't they weren't making
like a big deal, but they're just kind of just
like that's kind of a bit oddah. Yeah, because if you remember,
if you look at the graphics, it wasn't just a tombstone.
It was also like a hanging.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Yeah, Like the.
Speaker 1 (50:34):
Opening package for the show, they had like that one
person being hung and like you can see like the
bottom of their feet.
Speaker 2 (50:39):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (50:40):
So yeah, there was a booker t was getting interviewed
and right behind him they had like the you know,
the whole setup where you do interviews that right there
was like three nooses behind.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
I was like, oh my god.
Speaker 3 (50:54):
I was like it's a bit weird all the.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
Time, Like him and gold Us first started working together
and they did like oh man magic.
Speaker 3 (51:05):
That whole pairing was just it was funny. I loved it.
Speaker 1 (51:09):
Booker team meets some random girl, goes to a hotel
with her, and then they turn the lights off and
all of a sudden to set up for like gold
Dust to get closer to him, and then I gold
Us like wearing like andree over his fucking tights.
Speaker 2 (51:21):
It was the funniest thing ever. Man.
Speaker 3 (51:22):
I loved it, Like the funniest thing they ever did
with each other. They I remember Booker T was at
seven eleven. Oh you want to you know what another
you don't what to hear? Interesting fact, So you remember
when they did the promotion for seven eleven, right, Yeah,
I still have those cups, Kurt. Yeah, they had three
(51:43):
because they had the Hardy boys, the rock and RVD.
Speaker 2 (51:45):
So but anyway, yeah, I could put a lot of
alcohol in some of those cups. I bet so. Anyway, Yeah, Booker.
Speaker 3 (51:53):
T was at eleven and then the gold shows up
and it's funny golds as were in a Knicks jersey.
Speaker 2 (52:00):
I don't know if you got that. You watched it again.
Speaker 3 (52:05):
He's warning he's wearing an orange Knicks jersey.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
I was like, oh, I want to check it out. God.
Speaker 3 (52:10):
Yeah, And he was like literally telling me, like, you know,
we need to be a unit and all that stuff,
and like, look, if you give me a sip, if
you're slurpy, you know, you could have a bite of
my wiener and book He's like, I laughed. So it
was the funniest thing. I laughed so hard. But them
pairing with each other was the funniest thing. It was like,
(52:31):
whoever thought about that is a genius. It was hilarious.
Speaker 1 (52:35):
Yeah, one of the better parts of the show that year.
But let's get into this main show. In the opening match,
we had Eddie Garrero, who recently returned to the company,
defending the inter title against r VD and a rematch
from back last month before where Guerrero beat him for
the title and this mattress solid It was fear that
they were under time constraints, so like, you know, they
couldn't really go all out the way they maybe wanted to,
but it was good for the time it lasted, and
(52:57):
Edie Garrero ultimately retained the title with the backslide on
an RVD as he put his feet on the ropes.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
I like how he countered though, because RVD used his
feet to try to hit him, but Eddie countered it
and did the backslide and he put his feet on
the rope. That was a good counter.
Speaker 1 (53:13):
Yeah, this is lag cheating steel Eddie Garrell before it
was the actual slogan.
Speaker 3 (53:17):
Yeah, and this was when he still had the mullet,
and I remember at this time he was getting a
lot of bad read for the fans about his mullet.
I saw fans not just that night, but just throughout
that time, Kurt. I remember, I'll see signs like Eddie's
mullet is greasier than my cheeseburger, Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
Or mullet heat.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
It's like it's two thousand and two, and God rest
his soul. Man, Eddie was still rocking that mullet. He's
still he still had that mold throughout that year. He
wouldn't even cut it, not till the following year.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
Yeah, and he had just came back because he got
in trouble year before for the drug.
Speaker 2 (53:56):
Yeah, and then he got.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
Fired and he was even working the Independence for a while,
and yeah, he just came back like yeah, like maybe
like a month and a half before this. So yeah,
he was like still like getting his feet wet, like
you know, still kind of getting implemented into everything. But yeah,
this match was solid, but they really had a great
match a week after this on the Memorial de Ra
where Guerrero and RVD he had a ladder match for
the title.
Speaker 2 (54:17):
And rb felt back.
Speaker 3 (54:20):
Great match, great.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
Yeah, that was an incredible match.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
This match was fine too, But if you're looking for
a great match between Guerrero and RVD. That ladder match
after this was the real good one.
Speaker 3 (54:29):
Oh hell yeah, And that was the main event on
Raw too.
Speaker 2 (54:32):
Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (54:33):
I think during that match, like a fan tried to
sneak in like push at Guerrero off the ladder, and
then Guerrero like jumped off.
Speaker 3 (54:38):
I remember that. You know, it's so funny, you know,
it's the funny thing about it. I think I still
have the episode recorded on my tape.
Speaker 2 (54:46):
Oh clutch.
Speaker 1 (54:47):
That was actually the same night of the Game four
of the Conference Finals between the Lakers and the Kings.
It was Robert Orry made the shot at the buzzer
to save their asses.
Speaker 2 (54:58):
Damn right, Glory. We forgot to talk about that. Arguably
one of the best playoff series in the history of
the NBA.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
Yeah, butch is still which gets controversy because of the ref.
Speaker 1 (55:13):
Hey look, I love the Lakers at all, but I
have to be honest, there was some bullshit calls in
that game six.
Speaker 3 (55:19):
Oh, but I was just the glory days. Oh that
that that Kobe and Shaq Garroker, Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
And honestly that was the real finals that year. Was
that series?
Speaker 3 (55:30):
Yeah, because it's funny. I think I was looking at
one of the dates they said, uh, the Net, the
Nets had you know, eliminated Boston at the time, and
everybody knew him matter who's gonna come out of the East.
Everybody knew whoever's gonna come out of the West, they're
gonna win the finals that year.
Speaker 1 (55:46):
So yeah, because the Kings were like a heavy favorite
throughout the whole year. I think they had the best record. Yeah,
and yeah, people are even thinking them to beat the
Lakers that year. They had home court in that series,
but it just didn't work out that way. But what
are you gonna do? But let's move onto our next
match for the women's championship. We had Schris Stratus defending
against Stacey Keebler.
Speaker 2 (56:06):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (56:09):
Well that's how it all started. Because so because remember
I've been rewatching a lot of the episodes from two
thousand and two, So Tris Stratus and Stacey Keebler had
like a lingerie competition, and then of course Stacey you know,
got you know, jealous. I should have won, and then
I believe vincement Man set up the match, and then
(56:31):
you can't forget that, uh, Devon Dougley or Reverend Devon was, Yeah.
Speaker 1 (56:40):
He just turned to Reverend Devon like right around this time,
and that's Deacon Batista.
Speaker 3 (56:47):
Boy. Yeah, I'm gonna tell you what. I love that
gimmick that he did. But the collection played and the
money for the deep Reverend Devon building fun, I was like,
oh my god, I was you gotta be kidding me.
Speaker 1 (57:03):
I mean, the Reverend Devon can couns fun.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
So you had he had the most catch his theme
song didn't have it yet that yet though, but yeah,
I love that theme song he was gonna have later though.
But yeah, And so Reverend Devon was in Stacy's corner,
but then Bubba, who was on Raw was in Tris
Shatters' corner.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
So how times it changed from the two years before
where Bubba was trying to put her through a table
and like touching him and kissing on him to you know,
put him in that little trance and snap him out
of it.
Speaker 3 (57:41):
Yeah, And that's funny how we kind of forget that. Uh,
Stacy Keb used to be with the Dougy Boys that
you know that later part of one going to two.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
Yeah, they just split up, like right before the brand split.
They just like turned on her, but then Dudley's ended
up getting split up and they going their separate ways.
Speaker 2 (57:59):
So yeah, I think it was kind of like a
mini reunion here.
Speaker 1 (58:02):
Trisha ended up winning the imagine like yeah, barely a
few minutes with a bulldog. Yeah, this is still like
early into like Tricia's like run as a wrestled, like
she was like, you know, still coming into her own.
And Stacey Keebler she's great and all, she's entertaining, but
she's just not a know rest of the way that
you know Tricia's right, So yeah, it was fine for
what it was, but then like kind of the main
story was afterwards where like Bubba and Divon got into it,
(58:24):
and then Divon and Deacon Battista put Bubba Ray through
the table. Yeah, just so weird seeing Devon put Bubba
through a table and she doesn't even feel right.
Speaker 3 (58:33):
It doesn't, it doesn't, and they're well they're pretty much
so there. They were separated though, but they won't they
reunite again, not till Survivisories that year.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
Yeah, they would, and Batista later that year would be repackaged.
It's just regular Batista then later would join Evolution.
Speaker 2 (58:51):
But yeah, that Deacon Batista gimmick.
Speaker 3 (58:53):
Holy shit, he had the big old metal like briefcase and.
Speaker 2 (59:01):
Madness. Oh man, my brothers. Move on to our next match.
Speaker 1 (59:05):
We had the Hardy Boys taking on the odd couple
tag team of Brock Lesner and Paul Hayman.
Speaker 3 (59:11):
Yeah, that's a crazy one and it was funny. Paul
Haman was the one who put himself in this match.
He's like, yeah, you're gonna face you know YouTuber's brock
Lesner and me.
Speaker 2 (59:22):
I was like, what you're gonna okay, Paul, all right,
She's like early in the Bronx run, Like Brockett just
gave you.
Speaker 1 (59:30):
A few months, yes, year, but he was already on
a tear and like roughing up the Hardy Boys.
Speaker 2 (59:35):
During this time.
Speaker 3 (59:36):
He was roughing everybody up. He even had a different
theme song at a time he did, Yeah, yeah, it's
all crazy.
Speaker 1 (59:42):
This is still like early in the Brocks run. And
he would be the champion three months after this.
Speaker 3 (59:46):
Yeah geez, because a month later he win the King
of the Ring and then I love the damn it.
Speaker 2 (59:55):
I gotta watch Venger.
Speaker 3 (59:56):
Just two thousand and two, again, you had that match
with our for the Icy title, and then you know,
then the following months he'll, you know, go on become
a champion against the Rocks.
Speaker 2 (01:00:06):
So yeah, that's wow.
Speaker 1 (01:00:09):
Yeah, but he obviously Hayman and Lesli picked up the
win here after Brock f five Jeff Hardy.
Speaker 3 (01:00:15):
But Paul Hamm got the cover.
Speaker 2 (01:00:17):
Yeah, Hayman like beggs to get tagged in and he
ends up pinning Jeff Hardy.
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
When he's even bro Paul HAMI even tripped as trying
to get in the ring because he yelled at Brock
to tag me, tag me. Once he gets tagged in,
he literally just like oh, falls over. So they he
looks completely different compared to now.
Speaker 2 (01:00:41):
Man, everybody looks completely different compared to that.
Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
Even Brock Leslie saw the recent picture of him.
Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
Yeah, I saw him at some wedding or something with Sable. Yeah,
he looks barely recognize him here. Yeah, wow, looks like
he's in a seventies rock band, right.
Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
But Brock and Hayman picked up the win here and
onto the next match in a very odd type of
match for stone Cold Steve Boston and being stone Cold
Steve Boston and I had the match against Rick Flair
in the Big Show.
Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (01:01:11):
This pretty much whole thing start at Backlash.
Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
So awesome for Backlash actually, like when Austin decided to
join Raw at like when the brand split happened, he
decided to join Raw. Then he stunned Player, and then
he stunned Flair again the following week, and then Flair
was the guest referee for the match Backlash with him
and Undertaker, and then Austin was on the ropes but
Flair didn't see it and counted three.
Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
Anyway, Yeah, yeah, he had it started from Narrato. But
that's kind of like really escalated from Backlash because you know,
Austin was pissed about it and then and then you know,
Flair was just wasn't putting it up with it anymore.
He was just dealing with too many crap at the time,
He's dealing with Vince, he was dealing with Undertaker. Now
(01:01:54):
with Austin, he just like, you know, what f it,
you ain't gonna you know, I'm not gonna deal with
your crap anymore. And then he turns heel and then
next thing, you know, the big shows in the nWo.
Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Well, the big show joining the nWo happened before Flair
turned Oh yeah, and Yo, what a far cray from
what the nWo was like three months earlier when they
first came back.
Speaker 2 (01:02:21):
Yeah, man, because.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
And it wasn't like it wasn't something that the you know, events,
the coming and expect you know what I mean. It's
like they had high expectations, but they didn't meet those expectations.
You had Kevin Ash with his injury, and of course,
you know happened with Scott Hall that we just alluded
to earlier.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
So then Hogan got shied at WrestleMania, so they turned
the babyface.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
Yeah. Yeah, it was pretty much comported from that point on.
Speaker 3 (01:02:49):
And then moving forward, they they just started just adding
random people.
Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
I remember them.
Speaker 3 (01:02:54):
You know at this time, Booker t wasn't it Wasn't
was on there too, And then they.
Speaker 2 (01:02:59):
Added Sean Mychaels a few weeks after.
Speaker 3 (01:03:00):
Oh yeah, yeah, it just it got weird. And then
I remember at that time when Sean Michaels was with them,
they tried to get Triple H to join.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
Yeah, I heard that was supposed to lead to a
Triple H and kept a Nash Matchic Summer slab, but
then obviously Nash towards Quad and then yeah, they didn't do.
Speaker 3 (01:03:17):
It crazy, but yeah, this was.
Speaker 2 (01:03:23):
For Austin.
Speaker 3 (01:03:24):
This was just like a weird thing, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
You just.
Speaker 3 (01:03:29):
Even before this, even going into two thousand and two,
I mean, yeah, he was Royer rumble. Then you have
the title match against Jericho, Okay, then what you do
moving forward, well, yeah, your match against sky Hall, it
was kind of like it was it was like, you know,
not to his liking, and now you're doing you're feeding
with the nWo is this is not clicking for Austin
how it was back in the day, and he was
(01:03:52):
just frustrated. He was just frustrated with where his where
he was at.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
And I can understand why. Yeah, that did not feel
like the same stone hold at this point. It was
still nice to have him around. It was nice that
he was actually a babyface compared to being a heel
the year before. But yeah, just something didn't feel right. Yeah,
just these fus they had him in, these things they
had him doing at the time. Yeah, it just was
not clicking. And this was a prime example of that.
As like, you know, the match is fine for what
(01:04:18):
it was. It's like nothing really bad, but like at
the same time, like nothing really to write home about.
Austin ends up picking up the win after XPOC in
the fuse, he tries to kick Big Show and he
I'm sorry. He tries to kick Austin and then he
misses kicks Big Show.
Speaker 2 (01:04:31):
Then Austin stunts XPOC and then he stunts Player gets
to win, and.
Speaker 1 (01:04:34):
Ironically enough, there's to be Austin's last pay per view
match until No Way Out the next year. As he
walked out, Yeah, just a few weeks after.
Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
This, took his ball and went home pretty much.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
I mean, look, I'm not saying that's the way you
should go about handling these kinds of situations, but in
his defense, he had every right to be upset, especially
with that bullshit idea of like losing the proct lisener
at a random King of the Ring qualifying match.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
That was the one that you know, the old saying
the shout that brought the camel's back. That was the
one where he's like, you know, I'm.
Speaker 2 (01:05:06):
Out of here. Yeah, you don't blame it for you
can't blame for it.
Speaker 3 (01:05:10):
I mean in a qualifying match against brought Lessons, who's
a newcomer.
Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Yeah, like I don't. Yeah, it was on that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:17):
Bit this show, like right after this, and he talked
about how the creative sucks and their ideas suck, and
I did. I think they did that in a way
to punish him, but just that idea is just basically
proving his point that their ideas suck.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
And look like yeah, I mean, just like Vince said, man,
you know, like they're in a state of flux at
the time, but still doesn't really justify how to handle
one of your biggest stars of this company.
Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
Yeah, it was just a weird, yeah, weird position to
see Austin in. Yeah, like it definitely didn't feel right.
I could definitely see why he was like ready to
get the fuck out of there.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
Yeah, I mean, because like I said, I was, I
was watching, like, like Martin major of the episodes from
two thousand and two, and I was just looking at
the whole like five and everything.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
I was like, oh, yeah, this is not the definitely
not the same.
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
Hell no, nope. But one was good about the product
at the time. Was the next match we're going to
get into. We had the hair versus hair match between
Edge and Curt Angle. This was a good match, very
good match, and many ways probably even better than the
match they had it back last a month before. Yeah,
(01:06:31):
this feud was really like Edges like really first shot
at like you know, being elevated to like the main
event level, to working.
Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
With the event talent. Yeah. He was really showing that
he could be a part of that mix with a.
Speaker 3 (01:06:41):
Yeah, and they had to because you got to remember
they they're doing their brand split and they're trying to
find that next guy, and Edge was trying to prove
himself like, hey, I could be could potentially be one
of these, you know, be that guy you know.
Speaker 1 (01:06:52):
So, Yeah, he was doing great stuff in this few
with Angle, like with that one skid where like he
was like trying to squash things with the Angle, and
he was like showing him old pictures of themselves together
and on the back of the picture that's pointing at
Angle saying you suck.
Speaker 2 (01:07:03):
I have a little dick. Yeah. And then that one
skin after Angle beat him at backlash, Angle was like
revealing a new shirt, but then Edge like one and
then when Angle it, it says you suck on it. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:07:17):
I remember that. Yeah, Yeah, I ain't gonna lie. I
I like Edge's current theme song, you had it, you know,
the from a from Altar Bridge. Yeah, but his but
that song from Rob Zombie. Loved that song.
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
Yeah, that one was dope too.
Speaker 3 (01:07:38):
That song was that That song was just like yeah,
I love that one.
Speaker 1 (01:07:42):
And also what was dope was this damn match. There
was so many damn miror falls like.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Edge, oh my gosh, speard.
Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
Like Angle at one point and had the match one
with the referee was down and that Angle had to
match one and the referee was still down. And then
like Edge like eventually kicked out of the ankle lock
and then he rolled up Angle and pinned him out
of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
Yo. Yeah, great finish, great finish.
Speaker 3 (01:08:03):
It was funny. Even before that happened, Kurt Angle even
did a spear uh to.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
Edge, Yeah he did. Yeah, these two were great together.
I really like their few during this time period.
Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
Yeah, really do.
Speaker 1 (01:08:13):
And then Angle, the sowred loser that he is, like
tries to run away when Edge tries to get him
like into the barber chair, like Angle like runs away,
and then the whole thing is the night goes on.
Speaker 3 (01:08:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
I love I love they did that.
Speaker 3 (01:08:25):
I love that how he was trying to run away
and they're trying to like yeah that they did that
perfectly to kill Tom, I love that.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
That was perfect. All right.
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
Yeah, we'll get into what happened from that in a
few minutes, but then let's move on to the next match.
We had Triple H and Christ Jericho and a Hell
in a Cell match, and funny enough, this would be
the Hell in the Cell's first appearance on WW since
the sixth Way went from Armageddon a year or a
half before this.
Speaker 2 (01:08:51):
Yeah, that's funny.
Speaker 3 (01:08:52):
They didn't have no hell to sell matches, and yeah,
it's crazy. But at the same time, you know, when
I look back at this build up and it's feed
between these two.
Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
I don't mind the fact that they're booking a match
with each other.
Speaker 3 (01:09:07):
It is a bit odd how they did a Hell
and a Cell between these two.
Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
It was just weird.
Speaker 1 (01:09:16):
Yeah, because their food wasn't like, you know, that intense
and that person where it wanted that kind of stipulation.
But just me, I was happy that they were at
least bringing it back because they hadn't had a Hell
on the Cell match and sold on, so like that
aspect of it was appealing to me.
Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
But yet, just the way.
Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
They hyped it up and the way they like, you know,
like overexaggerated about it, like where like anytime they would
announce the hell in the Cell match, to be like,
oh my god, it's a hell in a Cell match.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
It's the end of the world. We're all gonna die.
Speaker 5 (01:09:43):
Well, it is all it's it's a scary ass match,
I know, I know, but just the way they you know,
hype it up that way they do. I mean, come on,
it's the even Come on, jarr will go on and
on and on about that match. I'm talking about the
DEVI most playground, is the most diabolical and a certain
match and.
Speaker 3 (01:10:06):
Seriously, it it's when you look.
Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
At that cell.
Speaker 3 (01:10:11):
If it's one thing that I could describe it by
just looking at it, it's eerie, very ierie, you know
what I mean. And you just look back at the
last were many like the last two to one on
one matches, you know, Mick Foley, Triple H and Michaels
and Undertaker, and you just yeah, you it's crazy, man.
(01:10:36):
But yeah, I mean, don't get me wrong. Ten year
old me at the time was excited to us. I'm
my god, hell the cells, this is great, you know
what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
Yeah, me to you, Yeah mean too.
Speaker 1 (01:10:44):
I was after this match and hey, it was a
way better match than the match we had at WrestleMania.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
Well, even with the.
Speaker 1 (01:10:51):
Fact that, like you know, the dude wasn't like really
that violent enough where it needed a hell in the
Cell match, they still deliver.
Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
They still put on a great match. Honestly, it's an
underrated hell in the Cell when I look back, it is.
Speaker 3 (01:11:01):
It was a great Helm Cell match. But when it
comes to the match of Elseam and I'm not gonna lie,
I kind.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
Of did like that match. It kind of like it
was fine. This match was fine.
Speaker 3 (01:11:11):
Yeah, but yeah, this this this one really delivered.
Speaker 2 (01:11:16):
Poor Tim white Tim white Man got hurt.
Speaker 1 (01:11:23):
He took a nasty bump, like when Jericho bumped into
him and he bumped into the cell apron get out.
Speaker 3 (01:11:28):
Yeah, he flew that that the distance from the ring
until the to the cage man.
Speaker 2 (01:11:36):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
He basically had to retire from refereeing because of this.
Speaker 3 (01:11:41):
Yeah, and it was funny. He gets hurt, Jericho tries
to pin triple h of course Tim Dwight's you know,
referees out and then he goes out there and he
hurts him again.
Speaker 2 (01:11:52):
Yeah, he threw his shoulder first into the cell.
Speaker 3 (01:11:54):
Yeah. I was like, damn, Chris, I was like, what,
You're not going to be at all? Right.
Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
They did get another referee, but damn, it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:06):
Needs to them getting outside of the cell, which craziness happens,
and then Triple h ddts Jericho through the announced table.
Then they get to the top of the cell and
then like Triple tries to pedigree Jericho and then he
back body drops some off of them. Yeah, they were
like really making you think like somebody was gonna fall
off the cell by the fact that they were going
on top of it, but that that happened in this case,
(01:12:28):
although I did hear from Jericho that originally he wanted
to be thrown off the cell and fall on top
of like a Christian landstorm and test but mixed.
Speaker 3 (01:12:39):
Okay, I need to I think I need to read
that part of me because I do have one of
his books.
Speaker 1 (01:12:45):
Yeah, he talked about this before, like I think on
like a sit down interview he did once. It's like
overseas he's mentioned he was.
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
Gonna get thrown off the cell on top of them,
but then they didn't do it, and then Triple ultimately
won the match with a pedigree on top of the cell.
Which is a cool visual. I'm not gonna lie it was.
It was rule and then Triple H ends up winning
the match. Yeah, Like I said, very good hell in
the Cell match.
Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
Regardless of whether or not you think it should have
been a hell in the Cell match, the match still delivered.
It was still great and yeah, definitely an underrated hell
in the Cell. But I thought this match slightly below
the Last Man Standing from Fully Loaded two years before.
Speaker 2 (01:13:20):
Oh of course, of course.
Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
Yeah, but still a good match nonetheless. And then on
to the next match for the tag team titles, we
had Billion Shuck defending against Rakishi and a mystery partner.
Speaker 3 (01:13:34):
Yeah, and you want to find out until who's gonna
be who's his tag team partner?
Speaker 2 (01:13:43):
And it's Rico Billion Shuck, some consultant, stylist or whatever
the hell he was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:49):
Yeah, I didn't it was did not care for me.
Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:13:56):
The highlight of this match, honestly was Billion Chuck's entrance.
Speaker 4 (01:13:58):
Like, just the way they.
Speaker 2 (01:14:01):
Damn music you look so good to me, how they
played off each other. You love that song back then,
didn't you? Why not?
Speaker 1 (01:14:15):
Yeah, it was a it was a genius gimmick, I'm
telling you, really good and really shined when it came
to tag teams.
Speaker 3 (01:14:21):
Of course he's that's his bread and butter man. Come
on now, yeah, But you know it's funny because like
I go back to Russell in eighteen, right, and I
go back to that fatal four way, that four corner
elimination match right between the Hardy's, Dougleys, A PA and
Billy and Chuck.
Speaker 2 (01:14:37):
Right. It's funny how.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
How they they You have Saliva performed the Dougley's, Right,
you had the hard rock and roll theme song I
love that, then a p A. Then the Hardy's come
out have these badass themes, and then they went from
to this like this.
Speaker 6 (01:14:56):
Cheesy R and B. It's not that's like what do
you what did you describe it? It's now R and
B what it is? It's soft rock. I guess soft
is the best record. Put it type shit.
Speaker 2 (01:15:11):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:15:11):
It's just there was a miscommunication where like like Rico
was going to do his spinning kick and then he missed.
He was gonna hit Rakishi, but then he missed and
he hit Billy Gunn and then RAKESHI kick we go down,
and then he pinned Billy Gunn and Rakishi and we
go with the tag team champions.
Speaker 2 (01:15:29):
Oh my gosh, very weird. Yeah, very weird that they
did this.
Speaker 1 (01:15:34):
I know this tag title ring didn't last long, but yeah,
just very odd that they put this all together. And yeah, honestly,
I will say probably the weakest part of the show.
Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
You know what, if I was there that night, I
would have like, Okay, this is a good time for
me to uh like take like a bathroom break or
something like that.
Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
But one thing I did like was that little skit
they had it on the world they were calling it
at this point with boy Wilson and Maven where they're
drinking that big ass drink.
Speaker 3 (01:15:59):
I saw that.
Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
I was like, God, God, I was like, I'm on me.
One of those.
Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
You get you get one of those on a date
and you don't end up sleeping together. I don't know
what to tell you, right, Yeah, after she left to Jerry,
like when Jerry was like forcing her.
Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
To wear like the I remember that, Oh I ain't
gonna lie. It was kind of funny, but did that
little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
It was weird at the same time though, but like
and then when she finally stripped and took it all off.
Speaker 3 (01:16:31):
And then she yeah, the look onto Jerry's face was
priceless when it happened.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
And then yeah, and then she's like telling me even, like, yo,
I just felt so free when I took that outfit off,
and I just you'll never know when I'll feel that
free again. I'm like, I give it three hours, then
you'll feel that free again, all right, but anyway, yeah,
but throughout the night, Edge was like chasing kurd Angle
throughout the arena, and like kurd Angle was like trying
to like find like his creative waste to escaping like
(01:16:57):
he pretended to be like in a chair or like
a thing on like like Edge like brought ran past him.
And then they eventually make it back to the arena
and then Angle like it's the better of Edges attacking Edge,
and then he's trying to shave Edge his head, but
then Edge like recovers gets back up. He puts Angle
on a sleeper and then puts him in the chair
and shaves it.
Speaker 3 (01:17:17):
All off, all off man and even gets the shaving
cream and gets the blade, and he even wakes him up,
and he's like, hey, you know what instead of saying
you know the cross saying you suck, they're gonna say
your Bald and they hit his theme song and then
they started channing your Bald and I was like, oh
(01:17:38):
my god. But you know, it's so funny about the
whole like that whole situation.
Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
What's up.
Speaker 3 (01:17:43):
So they when they booked the match, right, they they
were literally ribbing Edge prior to this because they were
gonna like have you know, They're like, Okay, we're gonna
have to lose the match. But Edge was like, dude,
I don't want to cut my hair and blah blah blah. Right,
(01:18:05):
and he's freaking stressing out. This is like I think
a couple of days before the event, he's stressing.
Speaker 2 (01:18:11):
Yeah, told the story before, yeah, yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (01:18:13):
Then they literally like the day of, they're like, now
we're just messing with you, like you're going over.
Speaker 2 (01:18:18):
I was like, damn, yeah, imagine oh.
Speaker 3 (01:18:23):
God, Oh I couldn't imagine that.
Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
Yeah, but yeah, this is great, this is well done.
Angle was the perfect person I have to get.
Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
His head shaved. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:18:34):
People always talk about like, you know, like I guess
that the land in his head he had in the time,
so like it.
Speaker 2 (01:18:38):
Was time for him to get it all cut off.
He could just for men, I don't know, what.
Speaker 1 (01:18:44):
I remember hearing the story. Originally they wanted Booker T
in this spot. They wanted to do this with Edge
and Booker T like like I guess like from the.
Speaker 2 (01:18:51):
Wrestleman Wow, because the shampoo that was.
Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
What Booker T didn't want to do it. Booker T
was like just starting to grow his hairbouts, so we
didn't want to So that's what he did Angle instead.
Speaker 3 (01:19:03):
Oh never, I just to this day, there's two matches
where in the history of wrestling where like they did.
They booked this match because what Chris Jericho came because
of coffee, and then Booker T and Edge over shampoo
commercial for a WrestleMania match exactly of all places, hometown
(01:19:28):
right where he was at WrestleMania six as a kid.
Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Yeah, boy, it is what it is. But yeah, still
entertaining the mattress great.
Speaker 1 (01:19:37):
The Postmatcheduff was great, especially the Angle getting his head
shaved and yeah, Angle went on to where that head
gear for like the next month.
Speaker 3 (01:19:43):
That was the funniest thing. He's like, dude, I was like,
Urt just accepted geez. Even in his Matchic gets Hogan
at the King of the Ring he wore I'm like
Kurt for God's sakes, man, just take it off, Geez
just accepted.
Speaker 2 (01:20:00):
Well damn Yeah. Yeah, but still great stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:20:04):
Yeah, that this whole thing, and also the triple Ah
and Jericho matter with the headlights of the whole show.
Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
And now we're on to the main events. Yeah, the
non highlight of the show the Undisputed WW Championship.
Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
We had whole Hogan on his nostalgia two thousand and
two run, defending the title that he just won the
month before against the number one contender, the Undertaker.
Speaker 3 (01:20:28):
Yeah, and the match didn't really start off in the
correct way because as soon as.
Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
Hogan got in a ring.
Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
Gotta remember, Hogan had Undertaker already had Hogan's belt from
the week prior because Hogan ran over Undertaker's bike with
a truck, right, and then the following week, Taker gets
revenge on them. He freaking howk ties Hogan and he's
driving them like literally throughout the arena.
Speaker 2 (01:20:56):
Yeah. Remember that ship was the highlight of the few Yeah,
pretty much.
Speaker 3 (01:21:04):
So anyway, Yeah, so anyway, ye, as soon as Hogan
gets into the ring, you know, Takers whipping him with
the Hogans of Weightlifting belt. Yeah, and the bell didn't
even ring yet Bell did you ring?
Speaker 2 (01:21:19):
Yeah? But funny enough.
Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
There's some shows the debut of the Undertaker's new theme music.
Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
The Yeah, it kind of sucking.
Speaker 3 (01:21:25):
He had to go away from rolling from Limp Biscuit Man,
but this.
Speaker 2 (01:21:29):
The music hit fittest character at the time a lot that. Yeah, true,
You're right, I gave you.
Speaker 1 (01:21:34):
Like a like tough biker vibe, Like it really gave
you like the tough like you know, drawl it a
bar of type vibe.
Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
That's exactly yeah, the true from it.
Speaker 3 (01:21:42):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (01:21:43):
Yeah, And this is funny, ironic enough. These two face
each other for the title ten years earlier at the
ninety one of a series where Undertaker beat him for
the title that Holgan pretended the Undertaker hurt him from
re and basically like sabotage this whole moment.
Speaker 3 (01:21:58):
No more pretended this time up, and his title was
going to be a month.
Speaker 1 (01:22:06):
Honestly, when I get this match now and I watched it,
I'm like, yeah, they definitely needed to take the title
off of Hogan asap. He was not in the point
to be main eventing pay per views in the title
match at this point anymore. No way, it was great
that he was back. It was great that he was
having the whole nostalgia run and all that, but he
did not need to be the champion for long term.
Speaker 2 (01:22:23):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
It's funny during that time they were at that time,
like March April May timeframe, they were playing hot potato
with that title.
Speaker 1 (01:22:32):
Yeah, that whole year they were playing hot potato with
it until Brock got it.
Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:22:36):
They were like they only had that title like for
a month, Like it was weird triple h wins the
title at Manya and then he only had.
Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
It for a month. I was like, whoa Ogan? Yeah
a month?
Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
Yeah, And everyone was saying the ratings were really going
down during this point when Hogan had the title. Really,
Ogan had a match of Player on the robbiefore This
and the ratings for that segment were really bad.
Speaker 2 (01:22:56):
Wow. Yeah, Austin segments on Robert doing bigger ratings than
the Hogan segments with Hogan being the champion makes sense.
Speaker 3 (01:23:06):
Yeah, But then you know, if it was different for
Taker because Taker had it like a little bit longer.
Speaker 2 (01:23:11):
He had it like for a couple of months.
Speaker 1 (01:23:13):
Yeah, but the match, honestly, this match wasn't very good.
I mean, no, Undertaker is great, but Hogan was like
forty eight years old by this point. He's not the
same nbreak performer anymore. Hell, even in his prime, he
wasn't really known for having like five star matches. So yeah,
at this point, you weren't really gonna get much of
a classic out of it out of this, but it was,
but it was. Vince mcmatt eventually interferes at some point
(01:23:34):
to distract the referee as Hogan has the match one,
and then Hogan pulls Dints into the ring and then
Lake drops Vince, and then this allows Undertaker to hit
Hogan really hard in the back with a chair which
is probably from ninety one.
Speaker 2 (01:23:46):
And then.
Speaker 3 (01:23:51):
Man that that match must really did something to do
you Hunk hurt.
Speaker 2 (01:23:55):
And not as much, but hey, get the Undertaker right, and.
Speaker 1 (01:23:59):
Then Undertaker proceeds to give Hogan probably the worst choke
slam that's ever been done in the history of choke slams. Yeah,
what's he gonna do? Hogan's a heavy guy. I mean,
would you would rather have him do that or tombstone
to Hogan?
Speaker 3 (01:24:10):
She had had a tombstone out of revenge?
Speaker 1 (01:24:13):
Nah, but like worst, I mean imagine I'm trying to
lift up Hogan for a tombstone at that stage.
Speaker 3 (01:24:21):
Yeah, because you gotta remember, Hogan is like heavier at
this time, you know what I mean, compared to you know,
back then. But yeah, the choke slam made more sense though.
But it was a weak choke slam. I remember years later,
about a couple of years later, when I was in
middle school, and you know, my friend of Madio, me
and him always to this day joke about man, that was.
Speaker 2 (01:24:44):
The worst Undertaker's worst choke slam ever, and blah blah.
Speaker 3 (01:24:48):
Yeah that was barely lifted him up.
Speaker 2 (01:24:51):
He kind of like that was it.
Speaker 1 (01:24:54):
Yeah, I mean I remember the choke slams he would
do the Yoko Zuna where he wouldn't even lift him
up at all.
Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
Yeah, this was different. This was very different.
Speaker 3 (01:25:04):
Yeah, I don't even I don't even remember him doing
a choke slam. He will finish Yokozuna by just doing
that flying clothesline at times.
Speaker 1 (01:25:12):
Oh he would grab Yokozuna by the throat and then
like just drop him down, Like he wouldn't lift him up.
Speaker 2 (01:25:16):
He would just like drop him down, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
But anyway, Yeah, so Undertaker gives Hogan probably the worst
choke slam we've ever seen gets to win and wins
the title for the fourth time.
Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
And and he wasn't done with that because insult and injury.
Taker gets the chair and he literally like drives the
chair into Hogan's throat, kind.
Speaker 2 (01:25:37):
Of like what he did to Matt Hardy. Yeah, that
same shit.
Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
Yeah, and then Undertaker celebrates with the titles to end
the show. And then Hogan the following Thursday, gun Smacked
Down would tease the retirement. He would act like he
was gonna retire, and then Vince came out and told
him he wasn't gonna be able to retire because he
had him signed. And that was kind of like the
first like rumblings to the Hogan and.
Speaker 2 (01:25:56):
Vince fewd that we wouldn't really get until the next year, right,
going right, going, yeah, going into WrestleMania nineteen.
Speaker 1 (01:26:03):
But yeah, so Undertakeer regained the title here. He had
some good matches during that title and obviously the latter
match with Jeff Hardy, and then they made from Vengeance
where he ended up losing the title.
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
Yeah, that Vengeance triple threat match was amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:26:17):
Very amazing, and that was a clear example that those
dudes belonged to the main event picture and not Hogan
at this point.
Speaker 2 (01:26:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:26:26):
Yeah, but look, I enjoyed the whole nostalgia run back then.
It was a lot of fun, and it was great
to see him in the yellow and red again and
all that it was. It was a fun vibe. But yeah, realistically,
so he did not need to be the champion, and
he definitely did not need to be the champion for
longer than a month.
Speaker 3 (01:26:40):
Well, the only reason why they're doing that curd because
of the fact of the momentum that he had from Russell.
That was the only reason why he did. Yeah, it
was unexpected. They weren't expecting that. Nobody did, you know
what I mean. So they were like, oh my god,
we have something. Let's just do something short and simple.
Put the belt on him.
Speaker 2 (01:26:59):
That's it.
Speaker 1 (01:26:59):
So yeah, so when it was standing out, he Undertaker
wins the belt, gets his revenge from ten years earlier. Myself,
I just said to myself when he like slammed the
chair into his throat, I just said to myself, Undertaker's
probably saying and that's what sabotaging my first time of
bringing a piece of shit.
Speaker 3 (01:27:23):
So over overall, out of tenbo. Would you rate this
judgment two thousand and two?
Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
I guess at six and a half? Yeah, six and
a half maybe seven?
Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
Wow, I was gonna say, because I asked myself last night,
I was like, what would I give?
Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
What rating would I give this event? I liked it
better than Backlash.
Speaker 3 (01:27:48):
It was definitely better than No Way yea for damn sure?
Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
Yeah you know what?
Speaker 3 (01:27:56):
Seven point five?
Speaker 1 (01:27:58):
Damn I'm even kind being generous when I say a seven.
But yeah, like to be honest, Other than the hell
in a Cell match and the hair versus hair match,
there was nothing else on the show that.
Speaker 3 (01:28:07):
Was I mean, the reason why I gave it some
point five because I'm very fond of Eddie and RVD.
Speaker 2 (01:28:13):
Yeah that was fine. It was fine, but it was
just too short to really stand out.
Speaker 3 (01:28:17):
If this curt if this match took place now, the
match would have been longer.
Speaker 2 (01:28:22):
Yeah, probably would have been. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:28:24):
Yeah, But like I said, like those two things I mentioned,
they were great, but the rest of the show, yeah,
it was just like really nothing really to get that
excited about. Okay, A great theme song, the love the
theme song, love to set up for it, and looking
back at it now, especially considering the circumstances and Hogan's
reputation for burying people, match would have been a buried
alive match. God, a better match than the one they
(01:28:47):
ended up giving us and it's funny undertaker in Hogan
ended up main eventing The Garden a month after this
at a house show.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
Oh really, I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (01:28:56):
Yeah wow, But yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
Still a fun time for WW. Enjoyed the product a
lot of the time. This show wasn't really the best
show by any stretch, but the product was still fun
for me. And yeah, just was what it was, just
another show to put into their cap. And yeah, this
is the very first WW pay per view technically they
ever did.
Speaker 2 (01:29:17):
Yea.
Speaker 1 (01:29:17):
They would go on and put on a lot better
ones as the year went on, especially Summer Slam and
Survivor Series.
Speaker 3 (01:29:22):
Oh yeah, definitely, definitely.
Speaker 2 (01:29:24):
We can't forget about Ventures two thousand and two. That
was a good show too. I haven't watched that one
in forever. Yeah, I that.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
I really enjoyed No Mercy that year.
Speaker 2 (01:29:38):
Yeah, No morely had two great matches on that show,
two incredible matches. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:29:45):
Yeah, man. The two thousand and two is you have
certain years in the business where you have your transition period,
you have these banner years, you know what I mean.
And two thousand and two was your transitional period, you know.
And you know later that year, you know, John Zena
would make his.
Speaker 2 (01:30:02):
Debut, and.
Speaker 3 (01:30:07):
Yeah, just a lot of change in Orton. Orton was
already there though, but yeah, man, like just a lot
of changes were happening that would pretty much shape up
the future of the business as a whole.
Speaker 2 (01:30:19):
So yeah, yeah, this is all the middle of that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:21):
Yeah, this Judgment Day show was like really in the
middle of that traditional period where like new people were
starting to come in and some of the old people
were starting to go out. But yeah, regardless, it was
still a fun time. Yeah, definitely a time frame I'll
never forget. And now on to next month's Wrestling Glorium,
I think we should cover the nineteen ninety three King
of the Ring.
Speaker 2 (01:30:40):
Really yeah, King King of the Ring. Like that show,
don't you. It's a great show. It's probably the best
King of the Ring pay per view they ever did.
Speaker 3 (01:30:47):
Okay, that's funny, that's that's that's perfect that you say
ninety three June of ninety three though, because of course,
Jordan won his first three Pete. That's the first thing
I thought of.
Speaker 2 (01:30:57):
Yeah, Jurassic Bar came out.
Speaker 1 (01:31:00):
Yeah, oh my god, fald Tortonaker's attempt to a follow
up to Terminator to Last Action.
Speaker 2 (01:31:07):
Hero all that came out that here too.
Speaker 3 (01:31:12):
You know it's you know that reminds me because it's
funny speaking of Terminator, because you tag me in that
post about which one they're like better, Aliens or Terminator,
and I said Aliens because look, I'm not dis great. Look,
James Cameron would have not have gotten director's role of
Aliens if it wasn't for the successive Terminator.
Speaker 2 (01:31:34):
I'll give him that.
Speaker 3 (01:31:35):
I love Terminator, but it was something about Aliens that
hits different from me because I love that blend of
action and horror.
Speaker 2 (01:31:43):
Yeah, I get it. So, yeah, I hear that. But yeah,
that would be our episode for next month. King of
the Ring nineteen ninety three. Okay, I feel free to

ex page, subscribe to our YouTube channel.

the birds and real quick.
Speaker 3 (01:32:34):
Before we jet off, I just want to send a
special thank you to Raquel Rodriguez for mentioning our podcast
on your on your Instagram page, I posted like a
little meme about Raquel Rodriguez about pretty much like her
upcoming beef with Rox and Perez, and I tagged her
(01:32:55):
in it, and she notified it, and you know, just
kind of like gave us, gave our podcasts a little acknowledgement.
So Racole Rodriguez, thank you so much. It means a
lot to us to notify our podcasts. And as I
