(00:00):
The following is brought to you bythe p l D Projects Network. It's
me, it's me, It's pl D. What's up, everybody,

(00:52):
It's me, it's me, It'sp l D. And I'm Richard h
oh. Yeah. That guy's nothere today. Yeah, and this is
class Auction, the classiest movie showand the inter webs. It's true,
it's true. Maddy has taken theday off. He couldnt be here,

(01:14):
so it's down to me. It'slike an old school episode. Today.
It's myself and Jarby first time we'vehad just the two of us, I
think, in quite a long time, in quite a while. And it's
been and it's been a minute sincewell, well it's been a minute since
you and I have just been onscreen together. Yeah. I think it's
almost been two months now because wemissed the show. I was away on

(01:34):
vacation. And that will do it, because we're going every other Tuesday now.
Yeah, it's true. I've readthe week we're doing it, and
that's the one thing I could likethe idea of the bi weekly. But
then like when you get up skippingan episode or something has to happen,
and it's like really long in betweenbut you know what the absence makes to
Hartcrow fonder I think, or somethinglike that. But I don't know if
absence will make Maddie's opinion of JohnWicker any higher than it is, because

(01:56):
it's pretty much as high as itcan go. He did want us to
say I think it's the greatest actionmovie of all time, and that's what
he want to say, and thingsof that nature. I think we know
where his votes would go. Ithink they'd all be John Wick. I
think it would matter what the contestwas. I don't think it matter what
the movie would be. I don'tthink anything. I think it's all five
oh John Wick, as far asmatting goes. Fortunately his vote doesn't count

(02:17):
today. Nope, no, sir. And there's Christo. Hey, christ
Chris Christo. I just I justsent the link to Christo. He said
he's watching Swingers. He's not goingto be able to make it today to
say Hi, that's because that's thetruth. He's a true friend. He's
a true friend. I gotta Igotta watch Singers again. It's been what's
been a minute as I watched,I've never seen it really is what it

(02:43):
is? All right? Wow?Okay, good to know good, to
know, I got to do somethingreally quick. So what are we doing
here today where we're talking about johnWick Chapter four versus Mission Impossible for Ghost
Protocol? Now, I gotta sayI did have a little hesitation about this.
I'm not Gonnam, and I thinkpart of that hesitation comes from the
fact that, like, I'm gotto show that right away. Look at

(03:06):
that gonna get up for you. That's the wheel, It's coming up soon.
The hesitation I had was that JohnWick Chapter four has been in a
series of movies that has kind oflike gone up as we go along as
far as building action pieces, buildinga bigger bombass like that kind of thing,
much the same my Mission Impossible.Did the Mission Impossible kind of started

(03:27):
doing this really more in Ghost Protocolin part four exactly, it kind of
feels like like that's the that's thethat's the driven the path that it's been
taking. So it almost feels likein a way that you don't want to
me fallout versus john Wick four asthe two potentially that you feel like they're
on the right same level of wherethey are on the path, so to

(03:49):
speak. However, we did gowith john Wick four versus Ghost Protocol because
Ghost Producle is the fourth entry inthe saga, so it made sense that
way too. But I'm interested tosee what the outcome is going to be
today. I have a suspicion ofwhat's gonna happen to do I do?
I do have a suspicion. Doyou have a suspicion? I actually don't,

(04:09):
because I'm there is one category thatI'm pretty much undecided on, and
that could be the swing vote.So I'm not I'm not sure what's definitely
gonna be a good matchup because we'redoing freaking Keanu Reeves versus Tom Cruise.
I mean, come on, staplesof action movies right there, These right
here are to the thes are thetwo premier action franchises of the last decade.

(04:30):
I could say you can throw likethe Has Fallen series in there as
potentially up there as well, butthat's still kind of like the little next
tier down, so to speak,as it comes when it comes to it.
No respect, no disrespect at allmeant to Jerry B. Jerry B
is like it's like almost like theaddition impossible, John Wick. You got
the Jerry B just above the LiamNeeson run of movies. No, no,

(04:54):
but there's Danny. See also you'rethinking you're forgetting Danny Cee from James
Wond. Uh. Yeah, that'ssay that's true. But I don't know.
I kind of like a hard time. I have a hard time calling
the James Bond franchise is more longerterm that this is like more focused on
this decade kind of thing. Icould be wrong. I know Dane Craig

(05:15):
didn't start to I get both sidesof the argument. I get both the
argument that way, if you're gonnastart bad mounting James Bond, Christo is
going to freaking bust through this screenright right there. I will say I'd
rather watch John Wick movie or aMission Impossible movie for any of the James
Bond movies. I'm not gonna lieso christ the tensions, the tension is

(05:39):
palpable. It's kind of funny. It's like it's like Maddie Actually mattters the
same way too. I've never Iknow Bond guys. I don't. It's
like I don't like them like Ilove Christina Reale. I enjoyed the Late
Latest one. I just not whateverreason, they don't hit me as someone
as as well as some of theother ones do. And that's okay,
that's okay, all right. Ithink I think he might be our only

(06:00):
viewer today. It's been a whileto do Venner, so you know,
we we'll have to see what dippants. But before we get into the meat
and potatoes of the show, theactual five different categories, we have to
put John with chapter four up againstghost Protocol. We have a game we
like to play. It's the recastgame. It used to be the Ed
Harris game, where we used torecast Ed Harris in every role, but

(06:23):
now we have a wheel of fate, or we side twelve people on the
wheel and then we spin that wheeland we have to put them into a
character in one of the movies, either recasting one of the movies or we
create a new character for the movie. And a lot of times it's more
fun when Jarvy doesn't think about it. So that's all. This is why

(06:44):
we can't. We can't. Wecan't do this anymore because this is pretty
much like the Public Defender segment nowsort of mixed together with the Ed Harris
bit. So, which is oneof the reasons why I did it this
way, because of Lake. JakeJarvis is a probic devendor routine, and
as Kelly is in the chat aswell. Of course, Kelly gets Kelly
always gonna see you. All right, Let's get the wheel up there.
Huh do this? Let me seewho's on here? Did you put?

(07:11):
Is gonna be on every week? He's always on. Let's be Y's never
gonna change. We have Seth Rogan, Pedro, Pascal, Michelle, Robbie
says, Chris Pine, Ed Harris, Gerard Butler, Ana de Armis,
Ana the Armist, Ryan Gosling,Angela Bassett, Nick Cage, Charlie is
thereon and Ya Matine the second differentmix of people. So first off,

(07:33):
we'll do it for for John Wickfour, Chapter four. All right,
John Week four, that's been thatshape. Where's the needle though? The
right there? Okay, okay, this is up to you. First,
let's say mmm, okay, Ifeel like I'm gonna wanna switch out the

(07:57):
weakest part in one. We're doingJohn Wick four first, Okay, that
is way tougher. All right forJohn Wick four, I'm gonna well,
this is gonna change the entire Okay, do you know I know who I'm
gonna put her ass. Now,this is gonna require a kind of a

(08:18):
sort of a like an like abigger role than it was in the movie.
Actually there wasn't roll but the youknow, the the office where all
the sort of the secretaries or thelike, the the hierarchy of the of
the underworld where they give messages, where all the ladies are at, you
know, the tattoo. I'd haveher as the lead sort of runs that

(08:41):
office there. I feel like she'sjust right for this part. She has
tattoos, she has maybe a lipring, like colored hair, stuff like
that, and she's like bossing themaround right there. I think she would
be freaking awesome. And I wouldactually give her an action scene as well.
I feel like she's she's just goodfor it. Okay, I think

(09:01):
what I'm gonna do is I lovedhim in the role of the role,
so no slight mentum at all.But if I'm gonna recast, I'm gonna
make Michelle Rodriguet the tracker the nobody. Okay. I like shamiir Anderson quite
a bit in that role. Hewas very good. There's something about that
role. I think Michelle would befit for give greet her the dog,
give her the attitude. I justthink that she could really do something with
this part, more than than whatShumir did. I feel like Shamir did

(09:24):
a very good job creating this likeNobody characters. He called himself nobody.
He's kind of like the slate youput into it. I think that Michelle
Rodriguez could do that even better, but get a little bit more of an
attitude to it. So I'd loveto see Michelle and give Michelle a puppy.
Michelle and puppy. How could youget wrong with that? Her?
Really? Come on? Now?Yeah, I feel because I really loved

(09:45):
I really loved the Tracker part.So I'm having a having a tough time.
You know. I usually try toswitch them out with the weakest character.
Is just creating a new one, because I think he was an awesome
addition. But but Michelle Regres, you know what came up to me.
Have you seen and Dragons? Ijust thought yesterday, well, that's pretty
much what she does in Dungeons andDragons, right, That's exactly that's why
I thought of it's become of honest, that's what I thought it away.

(10:09):
It is very it's a little morehumorous in Dungeon and dragons, but exactly
the same type of thing going on. So uh yeah, I see that,
Kelly, I see we actually hadthe same idea. Huh oh that's
so that's kind of scary, Kelly. I don't know. It scares me
more and scares you or not.I don't know. I don't know.
Oh, Galaceus is a good onetoo. And Harris as John Wick's wife
and the touching flashback at the endm glata a chef's kiss right there,
the chef's kiss and a Harris makeit up. I love it. I

(10:33):
love it all right. Let's goto Mission impossible for the ghost protocol we're
gonna do for that cannot be MichelleRodriguez're gonna somebody else. So let's see
who who's gonna enter our Mission impossible. It's gonna be oh so close,
so close. But Jerry V isnot a bad uh not a bad replacement

(10:54):
there at that point. So oh, putting Jerry B in Mission impossible?
Oh god, hmmm. I guessI should go first because you went first
last time, you go first.I go first, Okay, So Jerry
B. I think I'm gonna makehim. Oh yeah, this is an
easy one. This is an easyone for me. I think I shouldn't
think about it. I'm gonna puthim in the role of Josh Holloway about

(11:16):
in the beginning, Oh agent,I guess the age in the beginning,
but he doesn't get murdered. Hecomes back at the end. That's what
I'll do a little bit of rereadat the other characters as well. Make
him get killed, but at theend, like did you think he's dead?
He comes back and takes out. He's the one actually ends up taking
up the sabine there or something treeJerry B style. I like Jerry V.
That'd rather give be kind of funin that definite. Oh that's that's

(11:39):
a good, good one. I'mI'm I'm gonna take it. I'm gonna
I'm gonna recast it Harris for JerryJesus Christ. I'm so used to saying
recasting at Harris. I'm gonna takeit if you want, It's okay,
let's lide. I'm gonna recast JeremyRenner. H Jeremy Renner's part, but
I'm gonna change the name of thecharacter so when he reveals his name,

(12:01):
it's actually Mike banning Ranger Battalion. He will move mountains or die try because
he says he's an analyst, buthe knows how to throw down. And
we find out that has fallen andMission Impossible clash together. So Mission Impossible
has fallen. Yes, Mission Impossible, Olympus, we can workshop it.

(12:26):
I like I like her as though. All right, that's our recast for
the week. Let us move onthen to our custom made categories, the
meat and potatoes of the show.We take up five categories, and I
discussed which one is better and whois gonna win any battle to the death.
This is particularly important for this typeof show. We've got John Wick

(12:50):
and Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt.We got one better hero, better lead.
It literally is john Wick versus EthanHunt. Two, we got the
better villain. Three we got thebetter supporting cast could be heroes or a
villaine is the rest of the castto speak for a better overall story.
And five, probably the most importantone for this particular battle. The better

(13:11):
action sequences better actions, I thinkI think it's a good thing. The
better action is the final one,because there's it brings, it's it's It's
a tough category to finish on butit's it's the best one until he brings
it on home. That's what wedo. Mm hm oh right, let's
get into better hero slash lead. This is probably, outside of action,

(13:35):
the hardest one to do. Yougot john Wick versus Ethan hunt We are
doing john Wick four versus Ghost Protocol. Correct, this is not the overall.
This is actually just in these moviesyou want to start, should you
can go ahead and start, Okay. I think John Wick and john Wick

(13:58):
four or kind of feels like anon character. And I say this in
a good way. I think that'ssort of that's the way his character is.
He's a non character who delivers superlike clunky lines. But in this
outing, you know, he doesn'treally have much of a personality. I

(14:20):
think he's very reactionary, and that'sthe whole point of the movie. I
get it because he's thrust into thismayhem that really isn't much room for more.
And that's fine. But I thinkif we're comparing the characters, I
think Ethan Hunting Gross Protocol pretty muchhas it all. He has a personal
story with his ex wife. Sure, john Wick has the ex wife story

(14:41):
there as well, but Tom cruiseshows that emotion, and I think that
gives him an arc throughout the entiremovie because the wife's storyline comes in and
out throughout the movie. Where it'sJohn Wick, we just know something happened
to his wife. It's not reallya running through line. And Keanu,
we love him as much as wedo, but he does show much emotion

(15:03):
in that movie. Yeah, Kellyactually has a good point because he has
the points and he's the man withno name type and that's absolutely true.
But at the same time, thatcan't really excuse if you're gonna look for
a better character. That's a goodquot. It's a good point either way.
I mean like it was like JohnWick is being the character he's supposed
to be. But does that Idon't excuses the time and the right word

(15:26):
excuse him from being Does that makehim a better character? I don't know.
I had a harble with this one. I gotta say I do agree
that this was like this Mission Impossible. Three really set up the personal life
of Ethan h and where went Iwas. The first two were very much
not a personal life thing for him. Three got the wife involved and everything

(15:48):
else, and there is a verystrong through line here of a character for
Tom Cruise fre Ethan hunts Wick.If there's one criticism of the Wicks for
me, and I had this longconversation with PJ and uh and Jeff,
and they both think I'm crazy aboutit. I actually still prefer overall,
I still prefer John Wick, thefirst John Wick. That's my favorite one

(16:12):
of the first it's the best one. They disagree. They think that the
fourths is the best one, andI think he disagrees something yeah, right,
And it's because I like the personalstory of the first round, the
lower I think the lower stakes actuallymakes it a better movie overall. It
feels like the John Wicks have expoundedto the point where now they are for

(16:34):
better or for worse. They arevideo game type movies. Like it's like
they get more video game levels, leveling up kind of thing. Now.
I said, this is my JohnWick review on Letterbox. I think this
is probably easily the best action movieof the four by far. The act
sequences blow me away and they're beautifullydone. But I still prefer the first

(16:56):
one as far as overall. Thestory wise goes and the character wise goes.
The original Jena character goes, soI think at the end of the
day, I think I gotta givethis, I gotta give the ghost protocol
for the same reason I do thinkthat Tom slightly better, slightly better character

(17:18):
work then John Wick does. Johnmakes at that kind of same level throughout.
He's been at the same level throughoutthe entire time through which is why
I'm actually very, very interested ina John Wick chapter five whenever that does
get made, because quite frankly,it feels like the stakes are over now,
the stakes that we begin in thefirst episode of the first film,

(17:38):
they're done now, so you canhave a reset and we can see a
different storyline with more different kind ofpersonalized stakes, and that actually interested me
a little bit more so. Yeah, exactly, I love the play as
the video game. It's a present. He did say that we're watching the
movie together, and it was like, I think I should have a controllery
in my head. That's what itis, and it's not against. It's

(18:00):
not a slight at all against, because that's exactly what it wants to do
and does a great job of it. But William, sorry, go ahead,
I said, William, Actually theyare making a John Wick video game.
I think Keanu actually confirmed it orwas chat Stahelski. But they are
making one that won't make sense. That that makes absolute sense. All right,

(18:21):
Let's go on to better villain,a better villain here. Now there
are multiple villains in BO, butI'm talking about the main bag guy in
each film. We have John Whip, we have Bill Skarstar as Marquis of
Vincent de Ramon. And say thatagain, Mark, don't don't just breeze

(18:42):
over it. These already it soundsclose enough that you like, No,
I'm not probably, don't call meout of that. Don't call me out
of that. Let me let itgo, let it go. I'm just
impossible. Side we got Michael asKurt Hendrix or Cobalt. Do you mind
have how to get this one?Oh? Sure, go ahead, Okay,

(19:03):
this one is a very simple, easy slam dunk for me. This
one is absolutely John Wick for becausequite frankly, if there's anything of this
Mission Impossible is missing, it's avillain. Because I like, I love
Michael Nicholas and John Wick. Whatactually like him? John Wick? In
this Mission Impossible, He's very mucha paper villain. He's not exactly the

(19:26):
most intimidating. It's less about himand more about what he's doing, which
is fine and works. It doesn'tlike hurt the movie at all. But
he's not a memorable villain, especiallyin a in a series full of pretty
memorable villains. I mean, theygot Duris Scott in two, which isa
Philip Seymour Hoffman, which is probablythe best villain. I don't care what

(19:48):
you say about Henry Cavill. Ilove Hendrick Cavill. But you know where
we're going here. Henry Cavill's good, but he's no, he is no
uh no, Philip psh and butbut Henry Cavill is a good memorable villain
as well. And of course,uh the guy from the two he made
the two man role the I can'tremember his name, No, I'm blanking
at his name. Sean Harris,Solomon Lane Ye, Solomon Lane. Yes,

(20:11):
he was great also for two films, very memorable. Kit Ridge.
Kit Ridge actually cares for the firstone. He's coming back is and I
think, yeah, actually, John, why was the main village with the
main villain. He was kind oflike this sidebar that remember. I gotta
watch that first film a long time, but definitely gotta watch it again.

(20:33):
I know that's why I gotta watchit again. I think it's gonna be
a very big, like franchise wrappingkind of things. We don't have to
go through and watch all of themagain, twist my arm. But when
it comes to that, he's fine. He's a fine villain. But at
the end of the day, hedoesn't compare it to Bill Scart's guard,
who isn't the perfect villain. He'sdefinitely a little bit like there's a little
bit of a cartoonishness there. Itcould use a little more personal, say,

(20:56):
a little more emotion behind it,but but he's very charismatic and gets
the job done more. I thinkhe's given more to do, which is
where, which is where it winsfor me. Over Michael Nakus, I
do appreciate some of those scenes hehas with Ian McShane, for example,
he really kind of sells it withIan Shane a few times. Yeah,

(21:19):
I think just it's definitely a nobrainer for me. It's not that he
is a brilliant villainy brilliant villain, but he is good enough. This is
John Weep for all the way, this is sands down, not even in
the same freaking category. I thinkBill scarscard. You said it to yourself.

(21:41):
He just chews up every scene thathe's in, and he gets a
lot to do. I mean,he's he's classy, he's intelligent, he's
sharp, He's the most sharply dressedvillain that I've seen in quite a while.
And he has that dangerous feel abouthim, like he's not he's not
intimidating physically because he don't think heever does anything physical in the movie.

(22:03):
But he has that authority you knowthat he can pretty much do like that
and take care of whoever needs tobe taken care of, except for Charlwick
of course. So yeah, Ithink the only thing that we can knock
on is his French accent, whichis kind of and it's not even a
French accent. It sounds like,I don't know, I don't know what

(22:25):
from the Netherlands. At times. It sounds weird, it's like Belgian at
times. There is no real wayto tell what it is, but you
don't really care, and I thinkit adds to his character, it really
is. He just he's just hefeels like he's enjoying himself way too much.
Whereas he's a perfect villain of thiscartoonish world in a why like the

(22:48):
World's gotten very cartoonish. That wasone of my Also my if I had
complaints about John Wick, which Idon't. The first the first film felt
very like a secret world underneath, like secret Spiona's world, and kind of
have this really almost grounded sense, like it was weird and eccentric, but
they still had a grounded sends wordsby this one. Everybody in the world
is in Assassin at this point. They're all like, there's the real world?

(23:11):
Is the secret world at this pointexactly ridiculous and cartoonish. But for
that kind of movie, he isperfect for it. It is is And
that's when I throw out there widworld saying Scars Guards is a great ship
weasel and gets the perfect ship weasel. Ending he does actually get ship weasily
and as a villain, and it'snot you're not wrong, that is it
is a very perfect ship weasel.Ending. I'm not gonna lie there.
How did he did he get justshot in the head or yeah? Because

(23:33):
he that's when he goes to hedon Donnie and can ye shoot Cano doesn't
shoot the last his last shot,So I'll take the last shot. Now,
I'll kill him, and he's like, but John went didn't fire?
What boom done? Perfect? Which? Which ship weasel deaf? Do you

(23:53):
like more? There was Scars Guardor Air Force one as under Burke,
I mean Xander Berkeley's death when he'splowding into the ocean. It's pretty sweet
as well, no starts crying sweet. I think I come back to me

(24:14):
in in a couple of months, because right now it's a little too uh
early sentiments for me. I haven'tI had a little time past right now,
I say the back offer Scars card, but a couple months to might
change, uh do Cally also sayingJohn and mic four wins because if Donnien
is the villain, well that'd betrue. But I can't see Donniana is
the villain. So oh, he'sdefinitely not the villain in this one.

(24:34):
But but but Michael ny Quist yeaand ghost Protocol. I think you said
it yourself. He's very generic. He's pretty much just a plot element,
nothing much really, and I findit very ridiculous that when they are fighting
in the garage in India that heactually bests Ethan Hunt a few times,

(24:56):
like there's he doesn't look physically intimidating. There's no real backstory, he hasn't
been in the range of Battalion, there's nothing there, and he just almost
kicks Ethan's ass. The scientist basicallyis basically a scientist, like yeah,
see, it's it's definitely the weakestpart of Ghost Protocol and this is easily

(25:17):
john Wick. Okay, well, then let's move on then to our very
next session, category number three together. The better supporting cast. Supporting crew,
I should say in a way,and this could mean either heroes or
villains is based for the rest ofthe cast. This is a very,
very difficult one for me. Ihad to probably just as much a hard
time with someone to do with thefirst one, because we have, on
one hand, on Coast Particle sidethat includes some great reformances from Jerryman Rennerds

(25:42):
William Brant. I love this character. I really hope he goes back for
the final one. I know isn'taround for Fallout, but I hope he
goes back for the final two somewherearound. I don't. I'm pretty sure
he's not in this new one,but he still can come back for the
last one. I think it wouldbe great for me. Yes, Simon
Pegg, who is phenomenal. LovesSimon peg and this Allen's pretty decent.
Uh this counts for Sabine or LEAsis that she's actually a better villain I

(26:04):
think than Michael Nacis is definitely. You do get Josh Holloway for fun little
appearance. You get Tom Wilkinson asthe IMF secretary, one of our favorites.
Love him. Can't not love thatguy. Begged like a dog,
like a dog, like a dog. He's brilliant, He's brilliant. Then
you look on John wick side andthat's where Donnie En actually comes in for

(26:26):
me. He's supporting cast for this. Donnie Inne is a phenomenal Uh.
In there do you have Laurence Fishperand Ian McShane, late, Lance Reddick.
He got uh Sonatas in there aswell. It's it's it is a
brilliant cast overall. Scott Adkins,he's in there. Clancy Brown is the

(26:47):
Harbinger. I love seeing Clancy Harbingerand Talitans. I just I think I'm
talking myself into I think this hasgot to be Jonan for right, It's
got to be. And that's notsaying anything's bad about the other one.
But you got the fight between Sonataand and Yen. First of all,
he's got Donnie in right there, wins it all. If it's just Johnny
En, he wins it all. He's that's awesome, how amazing he is.
And John Wick for it's just brilliant. You and Maddy have been spending

(27:11):
way too much time together. Maybethat's what it is. I can't lie.
I can't lie. He's excitement ascontagious Kelly assumed. For that matter,
Kelly is also very excited about Donnian. But I also love Haryoki Sonada,
and he's very underrated everything that heis in and I want to see
more of him pretty much everything. He's always kind of a minor character too.

(27:33):
I want to see him get somebigger roles. I would love to
see him in a donnay In typerole in another movie. Kind of be
honest with you. I think he'sphenomenal. But yet Lance Reddick, I
can't say no about Lance Reddack.I'm so sad he passed. I'm glad,
though not glad that's not the rightword, I guess, but like
because he passed in the movie,it's kind of a nice way for him
to go out, so to speaking, if you passed the movie, and
like, if there is more, there's no question of why he's not there.

(27:56):
Uh, but yeah, this hasgotta be. He's got to John
mc four not by a lot,but by a significant enough amount where I
gotta say, I mean, Ithink about it. Just tell me off
the top of head, which wasbetter. I'm kind of like, oh
what I spell it out like youjust did. I gotta give to That's
that's the well, that's the missionof the categories. That's what they're supposed

(28:18):
to supposed to do, because we'renot just going off the top, we're
going through the analysis of the category. And yeah, this this is this
is by far the toughest category forme because I think I think both movies
shine at with these with these rolesand well, john Wick four has your

(28:38):
like regulars like Ian McShane, yousaid yourself, Laurence Fish for Lance Reddick,
and we got so many new uniquecharacters in this and that's what really
was the takeaway of john Wick fourfor me. All of the characters were
so unique in their own way. There was no one like the other one.
I mean Scott Atkins as with thefat suits, pretty still kicking ass,

(29:03):
like doing the cards, everything withthe grills, everything. I mean,
he was. I don't think I'veever seen Scott Atkins act so well
and just like, yeah, actso well. I think he was just
given something totally different to do,and he was enjoying himself as much as
Bill Scar's card was. I thinkI enjoyed Shamir Anderson way more than you

(29:25):
did it. I was very hesitantabout him because he was just a newcomer
and felt like such a mediate role. But I think he was awesome.
I think he was exactly the sortof undecided and eventually loyal character to John
Wick. And I think it's justsuch a cool plot detail as well.
So he was keeping John Wick Alielong enough so he could kill him himself.

(29:48):
I mean that's such a cool,such a cool plot point. Yeah,
No, you're right about that.Actually, No, if I ever
if I made it out that Ididn't like him only because I replaced him,
I actually really did like him ashis character. In fact, I'd
love to spin off about the Tracker. Honestly. I think that he's him
and his puppy are absolutely could happenat this point because they are giving it's
time to really they actually have theending of John. The chapter four was

(30:10):
done specifically to kind of like letthem pause at the Ballerina come out and
let their spinoffs come out, andthen wh they're ready to come back and
can come back because there's enough breadcrumbs there. I mean, let's be
honest, he's not dead. He'snot dead. Come on. Oh yeah,
well it could be that that waslike a glimpse to the future,
because did you see that both characterslook a bit older and he could be

(30:33):
any dog. I mean, Idon't. I'm fishing here, but you
are fishing. But I can't.Like I said, I think it's he's
gonna come back eventually. But thisgives them time to kind of break forward
and do a couple of different spinoff films or whatever. Although I wouldn't
wait too long because Cana is notgetting any younger at this point. He
does, he does, but let'sbe honest, even even someday, he's

(30:55):
gonna run a little start start runninglittle bit slower, so to speak.
But a man, but a manwho isn't getting older any at all is
Donny and and I feel like Donnyand Donny and I feel I could have
just gone through the movie saying I'mone with the Forest of Forces with me
because he's playing he's playing the samecharacter. I mean like playing blinds,

(31:18):
martial artists and movies. Now,I feels like that's exactly But what he's
hearing now and like and the momentDonnie and starts going through the motions doing
the action, I it's it's somethingelse completely. It was on another level
than any one of those people there, agreed. But then again, what

(31:40):
what Ghost Protocol does for me islike we have more time with the character.
Actually we don't have more time withthe characters, but it feels like
Ghost Protocol, Yeah, goes.I've seen Ghost Prodocle probably more times,
and I've seen all the Mission Impossiblemovies, so there is the sense of
nostalgia with all the characters. Likeyou said, ring Ray Simon Peg,
I feel like those two are alwaysin any Mission Impossible movie going forward.

(32:06):
I really like Jeremy and I thoughtPaul hadn't did an amazing job. And
Josh Holloway really was the sort ofhe stole the show to me. He
had so little to do, butI thought it was such a cool character.
That we really got to care aboutand lose and lose and like you
felt paul A revenge in that movie, you know what I mean, that's

(32:30):
what I forgot. I want tothrow in there too. And in Always
there's some dog millionaire. Yeah yeah, whatever, I love him, and
that like Small, the small role, it's such a ridiculous scene. It's
a passionate creature. It's so ridiculous. What's going on in that? Say

(32:52):
that that that to me feels likethe the casino scene in the Last I'll
be honest. It makes that moviecompletely ridiculous, completely ridiculous. I'm all
here for it, though I amcletely allowed for it. But uh yeah,
okay, so you are agreeing atthis point. Though I having said

(33:15):
that about Ghost Protocol, I thinkthe uniqueness of the characters and the way
they stand out in John Wick isgoing to give this category to John Wick
makes sense, It makes sense.I can't go around there, all right,
all right, I got two morecategories to go. Let's go out
of the acting sphere, out ofthe characters sphere. Let's go on to
better story, better overall story. This is the one that upon first viewing

(33:42):
I usually want to look at ourcategories. I kind of go through further.
I've been like doing research. Ikind of just go, what's my
instinct say that this one I immediatelygave to mention im possible. I still
think when to hold two here, the reason being I love John Wick.
But again, the story at thispoint it's almost pretty ridiculous. It's like
the because like anything after the firstone, the second one was like,

(34:05):
Okay, the High Table is basicalagainst you when you're on the run.
Three is all right, you're stillon the run and they want you even
more. And then the sports it'slike they still you're still on the run
and they want you even more. That's the basic storyline. You got to
get back at the High Table andyou don't even know what you don't remember
what he did at this point why, like he's still on the run almost
a ways, that kind of thing. So it's a very bare bone story.

(34:28):
Again, that's not really a criticismbecause that's why they movies set up
and it does exactly what it's supposedto do. Mission Possibles the Ghost Protocol
is definitely a far more intricate story, especially how it involves uh Brandt and
Brand's storyline with with with Ethan Hunt'swife and things of that nature. Uh,
the nuclear codes and how everything's kindof weed together very well. Is

(34:49):
is mission They weave the person onlyand the intricate in I think better than
I mean john Wick four, Ishouldn't bash it to it. I kind
of like they're kind of dimissed bysaying with a cartoons read game, there's
some definite added texture there with Sonataand with his daughter and Donnie Yen and
his daughter and how they co existand interact with each other, so speaking,

(35:10):
how Donnian wants to get back tohis daughter. There's a lot in
there that's that's story wise pieces, but it's more like character pieces, whereas
Mission Impossible, tendants to weave themall together in the right fashion to make
one overall story. And we evengot an ending that gets see that's the
story, and we even get anany name where we lead into the five

(35:30):
start hearing about the syndicate is real, Ben City is real. So I
think I have to give this aslight nod to Mission Impossible. It's hard
to do because john Wick does exactlywhat it sets out to do. Mm
hmm. That being said, Ithink those protocols are slightly more intricate and

(35:50):
better story The thing is with johnWeek four, like they gave this I
agree with you wholehearted day. Theygave this more meat on the bones,
and they gave this more breathing roombecause it's a two hour, forty seven
minute movie. So there were momentswhere, actually I think the pauses between
the big action set pieces were longerthan in previous movies, and it felt

(36:14):
good. I felt like, yes, we're getting some time, we're getting
some dialogue, we're actually getting somestoryline. But at the end of the
day, when you're coming out ofJohn Wick four, do you really remember
any of these plot points and doyou really care? No, you pretty
much don't care at all. Justgive us these amazing action set pieces and

(36:35):
we're happy, and I think itgoes productally. I think with any Mission
Impossible movie, I think the storyis definitely formulaic. But I think that's
a good thing because the formula isit's almost like a Marvel type formula.
It works. You know, you'regetting an awesome, big, big stunt
that is woven together by a goodstoryline. It's not just put the stunt

(36:55):
here. It really does involve thestoryline, and I think it's a cool
thing that IMF gets taken down completelyand they're the only ones left there.
So there's there's highs and lows, and we really go through the storyline with
some emotional mistakes. Right, soI'm everything else. You just said,
this is Ghost Protocol, All right, well we are. This is dangerous.

(37:21):
Figure out. Ah, we're gonnahave to disagree on something. Hopefully
we disagree, we'll find out betteraction, better action. Do you want
to start and you want me tostart? This is I feel like I
should start now because people might saythat I'm copying you. Then if I
IF I, IF I, ifI IF I go second. But again,

(37:44):
both both movies shine, but invery different ways. I think John
Wig four does mostly melee fights invery original ways and gun fights. I
mean melee fights and gun fights within very original ways. I mean there's
long fight scenes which have super gorgeousvisuals and some of the best martial arts

(38:04):
I think we've ever seen in aHollywood movie. Ghost Protocol has more nuanced
action, different types of action.I mean there's car chases, foot chases,
hand to hand combat, firefights, climbing, falling, I mean,
and Tom Cruise does it all himself. So again, I think John Wick

(38:30):
four pretty much has only the gunfu stuff with certain weapons, but it's
choreographed in such an intricate level. It's and I think Keanu is still on
top of his game, even atalmost sixty years old. All of the
henchmen, all of the villains thathe dispatches, everyone is completely on top

(38:51):
of their game. So it feelsweird not to give this to John Wick
for right, But Maddy's gonna killme. But I'm gonna go with Ghost
Protocol because I think I want morenuanced, I want more mixed types of

(39:14):
action. Even though I think JohnWig four does the one on one fights
and the one versus one hundred peoplefights way better, and they're shot in
an amazing way. There's gorgeous visuals, I think Ghost Protocol is more of
a complete action movie. Okay, okay, all right, let's say this.

(39:44):
I will say that it's kind ofis peeback a little bit, so
Jarvy is fired, right, WHOA, I actually, I know, I
actually see what you mean entirely, because that actually was gonna be My My
arguments is that it's hard to putthese up against you. Even though they're
both action, even though the bookthe premier action franchises of the decade,

(40:07):
they're both very different types of actions. Mission Impossible is about the dunt,
and I mean by that not theJohnson have stunts, but like the bigger
stunt. That's what it's about. The does It's that big set piece.
It's usually involving Tom Cruise doing somethinginsane that he really shouldn't do ever,

(40:30):
but yet he's gonna do it anyway. Like I think climbing the guys like
just climbing up the thinking when Isay, yeah, whatever, you know
that first Khalifa, my bad?He is like, I mean that gives
me heart attacks when I'm watching Iwatch the sequence every time. I know
he's got a wire on. Iknow he's like some safety protections there,
but like I saw him, likeI know why I'm watching them about to

(40:53):
have a heart attack. Whereas JohnWick is not about the bigger, flashy
stunt. It's more about the choreographedtype action set pieces in well, like
I said, you said the gungFu, but it's more of a personal
fight. It's like a fighting actionversus a like an action piece set piece
and that's the difference that being said. Mission Possible has a couple of those

(41:20):
pieces. The big one obviously Ijust mentioned the big tallest building in the
world with the sandstorm. We hada couple other ones that do have.
The Kremlin explosion in the beginning wasreally well done, amazingly well done.
The explosion was very realistic, veryfew I felt the I felt Tom Cruiser
he's running away from aim, hestarted to run away from the building.

(41:42):
Has some great funny tech moments withthe I love the setting up of that
screen as they will screen that's actionalso, that's more subtle action, but
it's I feel like it's still action. I mean have of course the ending
where he drives the car off theoff the garage down down below. Wow,
why does he do that to savetime? I guess why doesn't she
jump from car to car and justgo down? I don't. That's a

(42:05):
good point. Good point because it'snot as it's not as flashy. But
at the end of the day,I think that john Wick has a more
sustained action be throughout and some ofthe set pieces they have that are like
the overall or the shot from overheadgoing to the sequence with the exploding gunfire

(42:29):
things. We have the set sequence, the stairs sequence. It rolls down
those steps and you can feel yourbody hurting every single time I go back
and forth. Because also the funnything is also like there's times where I'm
even taken out of John Wick forand John Wick in general, because there's
some times where it's like, Iknow what I'm signing up for. When

(42:49):
you're building crackses, I think I'mhaving audio issues. Can you hear me?
I'm like, I still can't hearyou. I think you're back now,
can you hear me? Now?Yes, you're good. Yeah.
Also I got a little thing andsaid it was stopping hearing me. That's

(43:12):
right. Anyway, he follows offthe building, crashes head of the goes
down on the ground and like he'sup. Two seconds later gets hit by
a car and he's still going on. And at some point it's like it's
like, Okay, that's a littlemuch. It's a little like he's not
Superman, but he should be Supermanpretty much, Jake. It was all
Jake fault. Blame Jake. He'sSilenceman. But even beyond that, I

(43:37):
think that's why I had a problemwith three more than I had with four,
because three it kind of ends upto that level, whereas four I
was kind of prepared for it.I kind of knew what I was getting
into at this point, Like,Okay, that's what it is. Give
me Keanu Reeves versus versus donni Enanytime, You're probably gonna give me best

(44:00):
action. I have a question foryou, though, Okay, john Wick
four has the better fights, Yes, does it have better action? That's
well, that's what it is.It's the fight sequences is the action in
john Wick four, and that's butI feel like john Wick four has better
fights, but overall action as acomplete action movie, Ghost Protocol kind of

(44:25):
delivers more. I think there's moreconsistency in than john Wick, though I
think I think Tom Cruise and Companygoes bigger at times mm hm, but
it's they give it a little moretime between the build up to it,
which is not necessarily a bad thing. But the better action sequences are those
fights sequences between john Wick and howwell they're choreographed and how well how well

(44:50):
they're driven, and how well thoseone on ones are beyond one on ones.
At that point, I still gottago slide towards john Wick four.
I think, didn't you get someI'm still trying to fish your get you
to change your answer, But wherethere times for you in john Wick,
for you where you felt like, okay, this is if it just keeps
going up, that it at certainpoints kind of plateaus because if you're only

(45:15):
giving us good things, good things, good things, you're getting so used
to it, so it becomes thenew normal. I don't know. I'm
just asking because for me, Iloved the action in john Wick, but
I did feel myself like, wow, this is this is a long action
scene. It just keeps going. It's cool, but there is no surprises
anymore. There's no you know, fist pump moments because everything is a fist

(45:37):
pump moment. I means Kelly's actuallyfunny excuse as a piano hit by a
car with plenty of action. Pianofalls better than Cruise two, Kelly,
if you go the other way,Tom, Cruise runs a hell of a
lot better than john Wick. Yeah, Keiano can't run for shit. That's
pretty funny, And you're not wrong. You're not wrong what you're saying.
But I think what my argument wouldbe that Mission Impossible has higher highs but

(46:00):
john Wick has more action and moreAll the action john Wick has is great.
It might not hit that height thatImpots possible does, but it's consistently
higher. Like if there's some kindof graph you have like John Wick up
here and mission possibly kind of likethis thing. So which is a better
action movie? I don't know, because this is If you're going like this,

(46:22):
you're dead. This is your eKG You're dead. If it goes
like this goes, you're alive. You need those hides. And though he
can't be on the same level intensity, it's intensity. It's I'm gonna give
it to John I'm sorry, you'renot You're not gonna be You're not gonna
Unfortunately, though that means we aretied fire to fire hard Jerry. I

(46:45):
almost wanted to just like say,I think you have to declare John Wick
the winner because of Maddie, becauseMaddie we're here. It would definitively be
a John Wick win. It would. And I'm actually very comfortable here.
He's not here. Let's ask thechat. We can let the chat to
side. Yeah, all right, chat chat now, And there's a couple

(47:10):
of the chat whoever isn't speak nowor whoever holds your piece, John here
the protocol. Well, we're lettingthem decide things. Matty hasn't fired a
shot, so John Wick wins. That's what William Harrold says. Okay,
is that his pick John Wick forthe wins. Kelly, Okay, was

(47:31):
like, this is where he's going. All right, all right, I
will give you anybody else who ActuallyI think that we have a got six
or seven people watching. But ifanybody else wants to give their pick,
this is the time. But Ithink we're leaning that way. It makes
sense. I want to do itfor Maddy since Matty couldn't be here anyway,
I kind of want to give itto him anyway, give him the

(47:52):
love. But I will say,you know, if we give it to
John Wick, if you agree tothat Mission Possible Goes protocol, put up
a better a fight than I thoughtit was going to. I'm gonna I'm
gonna quote Tom Cruise in Mission Impossiblethree. No, right, all right?

(48:13):
He longer with it. Because weasked the chat, both Kelly and
William answered John Wiggie, I'm onlyto be I know Matty's pick specifically would
have been definitive. John Wick aswell, so for our comrade who couldn't
be here, I'm gonna let hisvote be the deciding vote in a way
only because we're that way. Iactually had no skin in the game.

(48:34):
I really didn't. I liked themvote. I didn't think John Wick was
going to win, but I wasvery impressed with what it was Protocol did
in this battle. All right, well then, that, folks, is
our battle for the day. Uh, Chris does give me the late time
for the win. I mean, come on, Chris, he's my boy,
he knows what it's about. ButMatty does love TC as well.

(48:58):
I mean John, so TC couldcould give an unfollowed to Maddy that's true
on the subscriber or whatever the twitteroldingo is. I don't know. It
might happen, that might happen. It's it, it's over, it's done.
John Wick four has chapter four hasbeaten uh, mister possible ghost protocol

(49:19):
in uh in what penalty shooting?I guess it is right, so what
they call it, I'm going toappeel this decision. All right, you
appeal, we'll we'll we'll talk toMattie see what he says. But anyway,
if you I think PG would goI think PJ would go down.
Maybe you can see what he says. You see what he says. This

(49:40):
is, this is John Wick.I'm okay with it. We've got to
decide on the spot. We're notcoming back to this. Yeah, we're
not going back to John Wake fourover a Ghost Protocol. And it's a
it's a worthy win either. Eitherone is a good movie. We both
love these movies and both watch thesemovies. I have no problem watching I
loved watching Ghost Protocol again last night. That had a great time watching it
last night. That's what it is. So all right, folks, this
