Speaker 1 (00:10):
What is going on? Clippers fans? How was your Wednesday going?
I'm Chuck Mockler, one third of Clips and Dip. I
think adam Osa might join, Will Updyke might join, But
we just wanted to kind of put some content out
there after one of the weirder days to be a
Clippers fan, which I think says a lot if you've
(00:32):
been a fan of this team for any amount of time. Really,
it's pretty crazy. I don't know if if you missed it.
Steve Balmer accused of circumventing the cap to give Kawhi
Leonard twenty eight million dollars. It was a fraudulent tree
(00:55):
planting company through what was that? Everyone was posting the
happy Birthday tweet from that that that company posted. Yeah, aspiration,
I don't know. It's insane, ex Longo saying what's going on? Yeah,
(01:18):
we don't know from where I'm standing. Also, Pablatory did
a great job and is really good at his job,
so like we can't blame him for that because I
was good. Yeah, I hope it's all bullshit too. Basically,
they're calling out Steve Balmer for supposedly being the main
(01:40):
player in this Aspiration scheme. That gave Kawhi Leonard twenty
eight million dollars for a no show job. If you've
ever gotten a no show job, you get paid to
not show up. College athletes used to get him before
the nil, you just get him. If you know a
guy and you need some money, you can get a
(02:01):
no show job. You just might owe them a favor. Okay, Yeah,
Happy birthday to Eric Bledsoe on today of all days.
That's what this POD's actually about. You're here for the
Eric Bloodsoe birthday pod. The Clippers just released a statement
that I don't know, I think covers their bases pretty well.
(02:23):
If you missed it, I'm gonna go ahead and share
the screen because we do have the power to do
that here at Clippers talk basically pretty outright. They're saying
they didn't circumvent the cap. Doesn't make any sense. Why
would they do this? I think what's being Yeah, the
(02:44):
big part of this is the co founder of Aspiration
put guilty to a two hundred and forty million dollar fraud.
This is not a new thing, especially recently with NBA teams.
You saw the Heat have to rename their arena because
they got scammed, and things like that. So if there
was any owner to get kind of caught up in
(03:05):
something like this, I think Steve Balmer would be my
last pick for that. I don't think Steve Balmer is
foolish enough at business to leave himself open to something
like this. It just doesn't make any sense. And I
don't always agree with Mark Cuban on a lot of things,
(03:34):
but it just seems like they got scammed again, which
he mentions crimes which they pleaded guilty last week. Him
and then Pablo Torri got into a back and forth.
The NBA mentioned that they're gonna start an investigation, which
makes sense. You can't not do that if you're the league.
(03:54):
Mike Bass told ESPN, we are aware of this morning's
media report regarding the Ela Clippers and are commencing investigation.
I don't think there's gonna be This is on five
point thirty three PM, on half of a whiskey soda
and admittedly a Clippers fan, I don't really know what
(04:18):
can happen from this. The way that I see it
is the Clippers just got scammed. I think Balmer got scammed.
I think that's the extent of it. I love when
I love when big things fail. That's just a thing
(04:38):
about me. Like if a large corporation fails, I think
that's great. I think they just got sc I think
the Clippers got scammed. Here Logan Rap presenting a great
call and if you're just listening to this, I'm gonna
put this out as YouTube. If you want to watch
us when we do these live, check it outs at
YouTube dot com at Clippers Podcast. Logan Rap Clippers Faithful said,
(05:00):
let's look on the bright side. At least we didn't
do a fraud for Paul George. Love that. Yeah, that'd
be great. Our punishment is gonna have to be to
retake Paul George. I think. I think that's what will happen.
Michael c is in the comments and he's very upset.
Michael cees that you're kind of annoying. Someone asked, well,
(05:24):
if found guilty, will Kauhi's contract be voided. I don't
think there's any way in which they do that. I
think the NFL, or not the NFL, I think the
players Association for the NBA. That opens up a crazy
And I'm not any kind of legal expert. Don't let
the attire fool you. I'm not a lawyer. I don't
(05:45):
think the NBA wants to do anything involving voiding a
contract of a guy who didn't have anything to do
with this. Kawhi is who I'm talking about here, didn't
have anything to do with this. I don't think they
want to. I don't think they want to open that
(06:05):
can of worms because that's a huge can of worms.
This also, and I know everything should be equal with
these things. This is a high profile guy. Yes, it's
under a max contract, but I just I don't think
I don't think they would open this battle up as well.
And Balmer also, uh has so much money, which is
(06:28):
not whatever you want to think about that they're they
were they would be going to a fight with maybe
the one person who can just like run them into
the ground. Right. Michael C has a lot of questions
and is very upset. Why would they just give him
(06:49):
a check to do nothing if they weren't incentivized by
the owner? I don't know, man, because they're a scammy,
shitty company.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Like.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
I don't know. Also, yeah, it's also the tree planting
aspect of it makes me laugh. I think that's very funny.
It was like he was supposed to do landscaping or
something like this. Yeah, and we're gonna wait, uh, how
this all plays out? Like, I'm not gonna bound the
(07:21):
table and say they definitely did nothing wrong here. Business
is gross, is the other part of this. Big business
is gross, even if it is your team, and the
clippers are one of the bigger businesses as they're worth
billions of dollars. So it's all kind of scummy in general,
just how big business dealings go. We see it currently
(07:45):
where you can just like get a bunch of money
and give it to the president and then do whatever
you want. Yeah, thank you, logan. This assumes an aspiration
intended to actually give Kui that money. Yeah, do we
know if he even got the money. I love a
big scam. You know, that's always a good time when
(08:07):
large companies get scammed. I think that's fun. KL two aspire,
you know, shout shout out them. Okay, Donald Sterling sixty.
I hope he drops the tea and it burns him
all over his body. Yeah. A lot of circumstantial evidence,
(08:29):
a lot of like smoking gun stuff. We can't sit
here and pretend that it's like, you know, not weird again.
Business is kind of gross when you get to these
like millions of dollars billions of dollars level Dominic Reno saying,
stop assuming billionaires are smart people. I didn't, I said Balmer.
I think Balmer is a smart person. I don't look
(08:52):
no matter what, you don't think. I don't like billionaires.
But we can't pretend that Steve Ballmer isn't a smart person.
It's not. Yeah, like I hate the money the man has,
but he's not an idiot. Some billionaires are fools. Sure, yeah,
Like this is okay. So I like this point from
(09:13):
Miles Johnson here. They don't think the NBA wants to
spotlight showing on the whole league. Balmer's probably off to
shine that torch on the league. If it comes to that.
That's gross too, you know what I mean, Like, I
see what you're saying, and that's that's the gross level
of it. Right, Like now you know Pablo Troy said,
now now he's doing he's gonna talk about he's gonna
(09:35):
look at the Knicks contract with uh Brunson, who left
like one hundred million dollars on the table. People are
asking about those Dirk contracts that he got after like
was it twenty fourteen or something like that. It's like
it's just weird. So like this opens up a huge
(09:56):
can of work. And I think Miles makes a good
point here where the NBA doesn't want the spotlight shown,
Balmer is pound off to shine that torch. I think
it's gonna get kind of messy and gross, is what
I think. Jonathan Ng. Aspiration was given money by Balmer
(10:17):
and other investors. What they did with that money to
attempt to grow their business was entirely up to Aspiration,
which includes a do with the Kui and the Clippers.
So yeah, he got twenty one slash twenty eight million dollars.
Thank you ATIEF. For those wondering about the penalties fine
of up to four and a half million dollars for
the first defense, I can't that, okay, loss of one
(10:41):
first round pick that would sting the possibly avoiding contracts
that are involved in the circumvention. I don't think they
are going to avoid the contract that would have to
be like, I firmly think sure, maybe they they did
some scummy stuff for this deal with Aspiration. Big business
(11:03):
at this level of scummy, I don't think it was
scummy enough to void like the intent it doesn't seem
like from the Clippers, it doesn't seem like the intent
was there to do this in a way you know,
that voided it to the point where they excuse me,
that circumented the point where they'd be like, the intent
is so clear here, we have to avoid your contract.
(11:25):
I just don't think that's a possibility. Losing a first
round pick hurts more obviously, And the four and a
half million dollar fine, I think we're all okay with
Ballmer paying that. Correct me if I'm wrong in the chat.
So the Joe Smith thing, someone posts an interesting thread
(11:45):
on the Joe Smith thing. It's kind of it was
a different scenario. That was an agent who was pissed
off and then like burned it down. So I'll have
to look more on that. Yeah, right, thank you. Robert
Ponce Ponce. Civil Discovery would be crazy. They would have
(12:08):
to look at everything, right, And Balmer doesn't strike me
as the guy that's, you know, to have a legal
team that's gonna like cut corners. So yeah, there's just
too much at stake for I think anything to really happen,
you know, And that's unfortunately how a lot of the
(12:30):
justice system works with powerful people is probably nothing's gonna happen. Yeah,
I'm looking forward to the Mark Cuban Pablo Tory thing too.
It'll be interesting. Pabloty is pretty good at his job.
We have an apparent inside scoop from five one zero
(12:50):
Bluebird their understandings. It's already been investigated by authorities. I
would assume it came up at some point when the
company was being charged with fraud, you know what I mean,
like there was information with that. Sorry, people are wanting
me to work right now. Yeah, this was set up
in twenty twenty one when he signed the extension that
(13:12):
was below the max deal. Was it twenty one million
dollars below the max deal? No, it was like five
million dollars below the Max deal, you know, coming off injury,
all that, all that good stuff. So it's like we're
also not looking at numbers where Kawhi took like, you know,
(13:33):
sixteen million dollars a year or something like that. It
is weird. I think we can all agree it's weird, right,
Like I didn't feel normal. Joe Rosenfeld with an awesome point.
Look at the TVL sponsorship and Ant's individual endorsement with Ara,
which is now owned by the military. So if you
(13:55):
haven't order ring, maybe ditch that shit. Yeah. So here's
the part. If Balmer did do this, which as a
five forty three pm on September third, I don't think
they did, but if they did, it would be like,
come on, dude, like, why would you do this? You
can just give if he were to wanted to do this,
(14:17):
If Balmber wanted to give Kawhi Leonard twenty eight million dollars,
I'm sure he could figure out way to do it,
you know what I'm saying, Like it just it would
be insane if he were to do this, But all
of us obviously should be pissed off if it comes
out that this was intentional. I would laugh and I
(14:38):
would be upset because then we'd have draft picks taken
away and all that stuff. Oh wait, a Tief put
that link back in there. Yeah, there was a bunch
of There was a bunch of Raptors people on Twitter
to day too talking about some of the issues with
(15:01):
Kawhi and Toronto. He wanted sponsorships lined up, and there
was some Raptors people talking about their sources, you know, uh,
the GM and the ownership. There was having issues with
Uncle Dennis's shady stuff when he was asking the Raptors.
So I I, I don't know, Like it doesn't seem good. Yeah,
like these deals aren't weird, Like this isn't an unprecedented
(15:26):
deal for anything like that. This is what happens though,
when you sign a large deal with a scam company, right,
like you get scammed. Yeah, it's not crazy. I'm sure
someone on the Lakers has a biby Go spont deal,
(15:47):
right are they still sponsored by bibby Go? Which does
I hate the Lakers? Biby Go makes some good uh,
some good ready to eat food if you need some.
I think this investigation is going to the legal term
drag ass. I think this is going to take a
very long time. Why would Balmer let the company go bankrupt?
(16:15):
He could have just funded the company, He could have
paid the luxury tax, but he traded Eric Gordon. I
don't know, Like he didn't want to prop up the
company who's sponsoring his thing. You know, it's not like
the Guggenheim group with the Dodgers. You know what I'm saying, Like,
why would.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
He do that?
Speaker 1 (16:33):
He doesn't want to do he wants to do that. Yeah, totally.
Balmber has stuff everywhere, hopefully all good above board of
legal places. Yeah, Kia was a spot. Ye remember when
Blake dunked over the Kiya. It's not new stuff. Wemby
(16:58):
has a steake in Barcode and the Spurs time sponsorship
with bart Code. It's just how business goes. It's gross,
That's how I see it. But that's the way that
shit goes. Do we think the negative press and the
microsover under could affect the twenty twenty Free No, I
do not think so. If it maybe, like I don't,
(17:24):
I don't think that has anything to do with it.
They had pretty bad press when Donald Sterling was the owner,
and things still happen. Then, you know what I mean.
We have the newest ring in the league, and I
think I don't think players give a shit. And I
mean that respectfully. I don't think any player is gonna
look that and go oh no, why would I go there?
(17:45):
Right like, yeah, logan rap, why is my responsibility to
fix your shitty company? Right like? We don't want to
do that. Yeah, A lot of jokes about out the
Black SUVs, A lot of jokes about that. I think
I'm assuming pabulatory is safe.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
I don't think.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Anything's gonna happen there. Oh my ad blocker's working overtime.
Yeah right, we might attract more stars. Who knows. Uh,
it's weird though, it just feels like a weird It's
just a weird day to be a Clippers fan. Also,
James Harden's restaurant, one of his restaurants is closing in Houston.
(18:30):
It didn't pay taxes or rent or something, so I
don't know. Shout out to Kawai. I guess we're taking
the fall for that headline. Yeah, Jonathan Aang, I think
the headline that came out underscores how much nuances required
to sort of through this and everyone immedia jump into
the worst conclusion the podcast is that pabulatory put out
(18:50):
is eighty minutes long and not even about this issue.
It's about just the larger scam that happened here. So
I think the nuance point is a great one. Yeah.
The Malik Beasley thing, I mean it's a great episode.
You listen to the Bill Belichick stuff is great. If
(19:12):
you haven't listened to the Bill Belichick pods, that shit
is crazy. But the Malik Beasy one, Yeah, you listen
to it and you think, oh wow, that's nuts. Certainly
it seems like this is painted in one way and
then nothing happens. Literally nothing they investigated. I don't know,
(19:32):
just a weird ass day to be a Clippers fan.
Punishment wise, I don't think anything substantial will happen. I
pray to God that I don't get clipped saying that
after we get you know, fifty draft picks taken away
and we have to re sign Paul George or something
like that, or Kawhi has to go plant carbon offsets
in Barstow or something like that. Yeah, right, thank you, Sergio.
(19:58):
Rich people in general always use all the loopholes to
not pay taxes. Factive life corporations are people. We live
in a healthscape of capitalism that is doing nothing but
ruin everything around us. Used to be slowly, now it's quickly.
But I just don't think there's a lot of punishment
that can really happen. Someone brought up like this opens
(20:22):
up such a can of worms. He's already met Pabo
Torre has already mentioned that he's going to look into
the next deal, which, if you were to look at
a deal, is a lot wilder than what the Clippers
signed Kauhi for love one hundred million dollars on the table.
That's a lot. Kawhi, I think left eight, so that
(20:46):
will be interesting. That is not the case. We would
love the viewership of Hassan, but that's not how it goes.
Joe Rosenfeld with some smoke. You guys know a lot
more about media dealings than I do.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Man.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
I was so excited too when I saw his tweet.
That was like, I've been working on this one for
seven months. I was like sick, and now it's this
um okay. Yeah, that was they were a part. For
those of you listening, someone mentioned that Pablo brought up
the Kawhi aspiration tweet from twenty twenty three. Instead it
fits his narrative because Kai didn't like or retweet it.
(21:32):
Thinking that Kawhi is gonna do any kind of actual
like sponsorship stuff is an interesting thread to use to
weave your argument. He doesn't do that. His social handles
are like claw set and like it's just not it's crazy.
(21:55):
It's crazy. I think that Kawhi would do that. Uh yeah,
they will pay a fine and then move on. Someone
posted the highest fine is gonna be like four and
a half million dollars. I'm pretty sure it just doesn't
feel like they're special and we're just talking the Clippers here.
Based on what we know now, it doesn't seem like
(22:16):
there is any kind of incredibly damning evidence that if
a circumvention of the cap was done, that it was
intentional enough to warrant avoiding of a contract, the loss
of a draft pick, or they probably will get fined
and the richest owner in all of sports will have
(22:38):
to pay it, and so nothing changes, Nothing will change,
Metal Slugs saying, I think Kawhi looks the worst here
unless it's Uncle Dennis pulling the strings, but just shows
that he's in it only for the money. It's his job, man.
Of course he's in it for the money. And also
(23:00):
to say Kauai is only in it for the money
after his injury history and the attempts to come back,
it feels a little rough. I don't think Kaui is
in it only for the money. Thank you, Robert, God
forbid our franchise go as a climate activist. It's illegal.
Planting a succulent tree is illegal. Yeah, Like this opens
(23:23):
up because a lot of people brought up the point
too of like how many LLCs in Milwaukee does you
know does Jannis have? Or like what about those Dirk
years where he was making no money and things like that.
It's just how it goes. What about the heatles like
(23:45):
these are It's just a nightmare. It sucks because a
lot of the stuff I'm assuming does happen on some level.
We can't pretend that it's it's all like fine and
dandy or whatever. So yeah, I just don't. It's a
weird situation. It's yet another weird day to be a
(24:06):
Clippers fan, and we just have to hope that everything
works out. I think everything will. What is the what
is the biggest punishment you can rationally see that would
affect the Clippers for this upcoming season?
Speaker 2 (24:25):
Right?
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Like, I just don't. They're not voiding anything. They can't
suspend Kawhi because again, it's not his thing. Don't even
get me started on this one. Brady taking a pay
cut every year he worked with that insane trainer as
a Dolphins fan, he played that insane trainer that they
like paid all that money to. It's crazy. Tim Kirk
(24:52):
the Claw is a great environmentalist. I've seen him pick
up trash from the beach. He can use his hands
for a lot of purposes. There we go, oh yeah,
kill the cap like kill the cap. Uh, let's go
nil style. Let's do that so people. Someone said force
(25:12):
Kawhi that like man, if they tried to get Kawhi
to sit out, the players Union would lose their goddamn
minds and it would be like that would be unprecedented.
I think the whole season would be crazy. I'm sure
you would have some guys some weird solidarity. It'd be
(25:34):
a fucking nightmare for everybody. This made me laugh. The
can of worms that would open is literally Pandora's box.
Sounds like a bad battle rat bar m. Yeah, no shit,
thank you, Garrett Griffin. They give the mestic abusers ten
games suspension and give Kawhi a half season more because
(25:56):
he took some extra money. That I'll really show the morals. Yeah,
shout out, fuck God, damn it. Ummm. I think at
most it's a fine silver. Now if Stern were the commissioner,
I think things would be way different. That would be nuts.
I don't think anything substantial happens unless we find out
(26:21):
that they really did do this seemingly very simple yet
poorly executed scam to give Kawhi money. If they did that,
then there we go, and it would suck ass and
we would all we got all be upset about it.
But I don't think they did four and a half
(26:42):
million dollar fine Clippers and six Love that, Love that,
Roddy saying, hope he realized Kawhi is not going to
be on the team after this year and Clippers lose
their draft picks for a decade. Brother, I've already been
through about six years of that. It would do nothing
to me. Silver's not Dune. He has to make an
(27:03):
example out of the Clippers. No, he doesn't. They are
hosting the All Star Game at the clippers new arena.
I don't. I don't like preferential treatment. But if you're
Adam Silver, are you gonna harshly punish the owner of
the team who's hosting the All Star game designed to
show off the new NBA All this stuff like, that's
(27:26):
not gonna happen. You can hate the Clippers all you want,
that's fine. I just don't think everything's gonna happen. I
don't know. If they made COWI sit, it'd be a nightmare.
There'd be a Players Union issue. Yeah, court a public opinion.
(27:49):
Oh we're guilty, quart of public opinion. String us up,
bring us in hell, put some cement shoes on our feet,
and throw us in the Pacific Ocean in terms of
the public opinion. But we as Clippers fans, it's not
like we're getting knocked off some pedestal of loved by
the league before this happened. I don't give a shit
(28:14):
if that. I don't know if I can articulate that. Well,
the statement does this from logan wrap. The statement tells
me that the Clippers aren't trying to suggest it's some
nuanced deal. They're straight up saying the hell you say?
These guys are scamming? Right there we go. Oh, folks,
we have the newest signing, uh to the Fox Sports
(28:35):
Broader family. You know him, you love him, Adam Osland.
How the heck are you? Have you circumvented any deals today?
Where's our checks from Balmer? What the heck is going on? Buddy?
Speaker 2 (28:49):
I'm only here to talk about the Fox Sports Radio signing.
That's all I got for. It's an interesting day, That's.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
What I've been saying. It's a weird, I guess kind
of right down to it. What do you think happened?
Is this a four and a half million dollar fine
and they keep it moving.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
I'm not gonna speculate on what it could be when
we don't know what the evidence is. When obviously the
Clippers just put out a statement, the NBA is doing
an investigation. I just think there's so much reckless speculation
going on and people want to get jokes off or
other people just wanting to go after Balmer because he's
(29:31):
a competitor. I've read some of the replies to some
of the statements being put out, and people just I
don't know, a lot of people are just they're making
up their own mind before we even know the facts
of the case.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
Right, it's the court of public opinion that people have
been looking up like. It's like that is kind of
where it seems like. I like this tweet from justin
La Clippers film. He said, I am of the belief
that Pablo did great work and this is essentially all true.
Actually landing the plane on this will be tough. Thus
the punish Robaby spheres. One thinks let owners spend their
(30:05):
villions how they see fit their money their team, But
as people who pointed out, there's a bunch of teams
right now that have sponsorships and their main player has
an individual sponsorship with that team sponsor. So like it's
like the Clippers were trying to like break new ground,
no pun intended for this kind of thing, right, you
(30:26):
got like the Aura company in Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (30:29):
It's like, I don't know, Yeah, it sounds like it's
two independent things. The Clippers deal in Klas So I
don't I don't know. I can't speak to that part
of it. I know that it's not that uncommon and
people are bringing up that point to it. I watch
(30:49):
the hour and twenty minute long Although Toy podcast and
he's nothing if not thorough with his shows and how
he does things. So I'm sure he's standing on it,
and he's tweeting about it right now. You know, the
NBA is doing an investigation. We have to see what
(31:10):
shakes out of that. But we'll see.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Are you of the belief like Jeremy Mormon, that did
the Clippers do this on purpose to rest Kawhi for
forty games?
Speaker 2 (31:24):
I don't think this is what anybody was hoping to
wake long God.
Speaker 1 (31:27):
Yeah. So that was the other part is it was
like waking up. It was just like, what the fuck
is going on? Like, I don't know, man, we just
have to wait.
Speaker 2 (31:40):
And I think, you know, my guy's pictures of money
would always say, when you talk about legality and investigations,
what are we rooting for the truth? Right? For the truth?
And that's it. And you know, people coming after me
earlier today like oh, you're going to do a show
on this, and it's like, yeah, I did ten minutes
it because there's not much else to talk about.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
Yeah, we have the we have Pablo's statement, a Vermas pod,
we have the Clippers statement.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
That's right, as you mentioned, court of public opinions. Some
people are going to make up their own minds early.
I would encourage everyone to wait for this and the
investigation to get, you know, further than a day before
half a day. Yeah, acting like we know anything. But
(32:37):
I read the statement from the Clippers and Steve Ballmer
and it was strong and yeah, we'll see what happens.
Speaker 1 (32:45):
And it's also funny, it's like this is another if
it plays out as the Clipper statements. Ever, it was
like we got basically we got scammed from this company
that sucked. It's now like it's them in the Heat
who had to change their arena name because of like
some scam stuff. So like it is, it's probably a
(33:06):
different Sunday for different pod. But the level of scamming
recently in the NBA has been large, I feel like
larger than usual.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Man. And apparently this company got a few people.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
Oh yeah, so I've seen, uh, their their former Twitter
handle now at Aspiration. Have you seen what it is now?
So I think they had to sell the the like
rights to it because this is at Aspiration now. I
(33:41):
don't know she joined in twenty eleven. I think they
bought it from Becca and then like now that they're
happen to her now that the business, it's back to Becca.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Well Becca all you Yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:52):
Her last three was in twenty eleven. I love you
Black Veiled Brides, please come to New from the She's Canadian. Yeah,
so it's like it's a shitty company my leaning. I
just think they got scammed. I think that's how that
shit goes.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
Yeah, So like they were they were selling, uh something
that was obviously very enticing a lot of people were
very much on board with it. So it's not just
the clippers and that part of it seems to be
pretty clear. As of a couple of weeks ago, one
of the co owners admitted to the fraud. That's not
(34:32):
you know, under scrutiny.
Speaker 1 (34:35):
There's a great episode because what this company did was like,
we're going to plant trees to offset pollution, which is
known as carbon offsets. There is a phenomenal King of
the Hill episode specifically about carbon offsets and the bad
business dealings with it that I encourage everyone to go
watch because it is very funny. Buck Strickland thinks he
(34:55):
can get away with more pollution with the carbon offsets
that Dale gribble. It's a phenomenal episode.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Anyway, that'd be a sequel to the episode, and the
Hill's back, no shit.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
That might be our Patreon covers movies King of the
Hill episodes and Sauce takes Yeah, And it's kind of
like kind of uh and like business at this level,
everyone is trying to make as much money as possible
while also I'm not losing as much money that they
possibly can't, So it's all inherently just like weird. What
(35:28):
do you think of Pablo torri Is saying he's going
to open up. You know, he's gonna look at the Knicks. Next,
he's going to look at Jalen Brunson's contract.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
Did he say that or was that just in passing
on the Dan Patrick Show where they were kind of
bringing it. Didn't sound like it was that serious as
of this point. But I don't know. He has no limits.
Speaker 1 (35:53):
He can do whatever he was. And also, I said
this earlier on the stream of any deal to look at,
if you were to look at two deals of guys
who took less money, who took less money between those
two guys, I like this from b I'd argue that
(36:14):
Dante Jones TMZ report earlier this summer is the worst scandal.
Don't google that one. If you missed it, be happy
you missed it. I would argue that too, from a
public health perspective, that could that's a big deal.
Speaker 2 (36:28):
I'd really like to be able to hold on to
all the good the front office has done this summer.
I'm putting together a squad that could compete at a
very high level and not have to think about any
of these things. I really would.
Speaker 1 (36:40):
I do think. I don't think knowing Kawhi in his
demeanor and things that have happened in his life that
have been large in terms of affecting someone's life. I'm
not worried about his focus, Like, I'm not worried about
the team heading into training. I'm worried about Bogie obviously
(37:02):
and his injury. That sucks, But in terms of focus
on that thing, I'm like, I'm not what is so
they said it was ruptured, but that might have been
a trans that we're talking Bogee now, that might have
been a like a translation issue with.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
Oh lost in translation. That's what Scarlett Johansson was telling
om at the end.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
Yeah, like and Bogdanovich, it's actually not gonna be as bad,
but he's out a couple I thought it was a
couple of months or something.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
Yeah, they said that type of injury could be two
to three months, which was obviously dragging a training camp
from the beginning of the season. Should it be on
the longer end of that. But I'm hoping, uh, that
report is accurate, that it's not as severe as something
was lost in translation. And we talked about Bogie being
kind of on the outside looking in with how deep
(37:53):
this Clippers team is and a lot of these lineups,
but they can use Bogey, they can they.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
Really I think everyone who kind of talked about like,
now we can trade Bogie, it was like, no, we can't.
We need Bogie. We need all the depth we can get.
You haven't been a fan of this team for very long.
If you think that we can just shell like our
depth a.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
Way, you can't have enough shooting and floor spacing. Also,
that's just at a premium in today's league. And he
offers that started slow, ended hot, then started slow in
the off first round unfortunately was cold again. But Bogie
is a long track record for being one of the
better shooters in the league. And I'm hoping this isn't
(38:38):
too serious.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Yeah, that Mexican Nara asking any news. The news is
just that the Clippers and Team Serbia agreed that he
can shut it down. So shout out Team Serbia for
not making that any more difficult then it might have been.
But yeah, I want we were so close to a
healthy training I would take healthy training camp with a
(39:02):
lawsuit any day. I mean, the past way, the past
couple of years of gone, I'd be fine with that.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
I would love to be able to get back to basketball. Uh,
if that happens soon.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
How many days until the preseason.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
You brought up the point earlier that you know, the
NFL is starting this weekend. We got a lot going on,
and we'll see how long this lives in the twenty
four to seven news cycle and what comes from it.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
But yeah, unless there's like another bombshell in the next
couple of days, whatever happens week one of the NFL
is gonna kick this ship to the curb. Someone's gonna
king good, but like, yeah, it's still king. I'm sure
there's gonna be something crazy, Like I think it's all
(39:52):
it's all gonna be fine. It's kind of where I'm
at right now, because we don't really know anything.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Yeah, there's not going to investigation started a few hours ago,
so maybe we could wait for any impulsive conclusions that
people want to draw from this, and.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
If we know anything about the NBA, this investigation will
probably take a while.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
Yeah it could. That's true too.
Speaker 1 (40:18):
They've had guys on video doing some pretty horrendous things,
and the investigations like still take it, you know what
I mean? Like, yeah, and this one has a lot.
Someone said the can of worms this opens up is
Pandora's Box, which I thought was very funny because it
(40:41):
does I don't know. I hope they don't make Kauai
plant trees by the side of the road.
Speaker 2 (40:55):
I don't know. I don't know. It could be the
name of this episode.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
Yeah, that's fair, Johnson saying law was unlockedown earlier. Shout
out dime, shout out law. And obviously there's no certaintybody
thinks the league will want to get this done asap
since we're hosting, since the Arena is hosting the All
Star Game. I could see them maybe wanting to get
it done before that.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Yeah, I mean they will probably expedite as fast as
they can without compromising the investigation. So whatever that means.
How much do they take from what Pablo has already
done and then their own independent side of things? Right,
I have no idea how this goes.
Speaker 1 (41:35):
I don't know we're gonna start selling shirts and say,
I don't know that's the clips to do new shirt
anything else you want to say about this.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Not really, because I haven't said anything that's fair.
Speaker 1 (41:48):
Can we get one positive thing before we send these
people on their murky middle of the week to think
about what might happen with Kawhi.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
Uh got clarity on the City edition jerseys. We thought
they were. And I think some people are coming around.
They like the buffalo ties and the history of the
Clippers being involved in them, and I think some are
going to come around with the color scheme. I don't know.
(42:20):
I'm a big fan of orange. I know, not everybody
that Miles Johnson is. Look at his avatar there it's orange.
Speaker 1 (42:26):
It is orange. Do we think it'd be more taxing
on the knees for Kauai to do point of attack
defense or planting trees.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
So it's no longer point of attack defense versus spottying
up big melt from the paint.
Speaker 1 (42:42):
I think it's the defense. I'm gonna go defense.
Speaker 2 (42:45):
Fifth.
Speaker 1 (42:49):
Yeah, the city editions. I'm looking forward to seeing them
in person. I'm not the biggest orange and black fan.
Speaker 2 (42:56):
See, you're a Dodgers fan. Maybe that's part of this.
I'm from Nora Kallen Giants fan.
Speaker 1 (43:01):
That could be. You know, the Dolphins have orange. I'm
a Dolphins fan.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
They got orange, orange and teal very different.
Speaker 1 (43:10):
Well their uniform their rawbery uniforms look like shit anyway,
So I will say the Clippers uniforms look better than
the Dolphins one.
Speaker 2 (43:17):
There's the positive.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
See all right, I think that wraps it up. Please,
and I mean this as respectfully as possible, don't ask
us what's going on with the investigation because we have
no goddamn idea.
Speaker 2 (43:35):
There's no inside information over here. Guys, just because we
cover the clippers and podcasts all the time, it's not happened. Sorry.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
I wish we had it. I wish we did. It
would make things a lot more fun, but we don't.
So we'll be back next week. There probably won't even
be an update next week on this particular issue.
Speaker 2 (43:55):
I don't think, not for me.
Speaker 1 (43:58):
Unless I hear something from someone's cousin who knows somebody
who worked with another individual, I will not be reporting it.
But if I do hear something from someone's cousin who
used to work with an individual who used to be
involved in perpetuity with someone related to another person in
the company, I will let it go. I will I
(44:18):
will let that take fly.
Speaker 2 (44:21):
I don't know if I'll speak upon it again until uh,
the NBA reveals their findings like whatever that means. That's
fe It could be a while.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
We can do it up in every week, but we
will say, well, I'm like a really elaborate intro with
really elaborate music and will be Kawhi Leonard investigation update,
and then we'll go nothing for you today, and then
it will be that was your weekly investigation to.
Speaker 2 (44:45):
Do the spaceball's combing the desert.
Speaker 1 (44:47):
We ain't found exactly, all right, Thank you for hanging
out on the stream. For those praying on the Clippers downfall,
that's kind of how it's been going except for the
last ten years, so deal with it. We will be
back next week. Adam. Do you have a show on Friday?
Speaker 2 (45:06):
Yeah, Friday night a Fox Sports Radio My talk about
it nationally a little bit. If I'm forced to check
us out eleven and two, we'll be on a five
to seventy LA Sports here locally and search your market
and what region you're in for where your Fox Sports
Radio station is, or just check out the stream and
that follow out of May. I'll post you a link
there before we go on live.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
There we go follow the Superstar, Adam. We'll be back
next week with clips and dip. Please don't think about
this too much and as always, let's go Clips
