Six blackmail victims are invited to an isolated mansion by a man who knows a dark secret from each of their pasts. On arrival, each is given a pseudonym drawn from Cluedo before being introduced to the blackmailer. Each is handed a weapon, at which point the lights are switched off and the blackmailer is killed. Can the guests uncover the murderer before they all become victims? Brad Gilmore and Jeff Smith have a lot in common. Both are huge fans of the 1985 movie Clue, and both have made significant contributions to the film's legacy. Brad is the author of Back from the Future: A Celebration of the Greatest Time Travel Story Ever Told, and Jeff is the director of Who Done It: A Clue Documentary. In their new podcast, Clue the Movie Podcast, Brad and Jeff watch the movie one minute at a time and break it down. Along the way, they share behind-the-scenes stories, trivia, and their own personal insights. Whether you're a diehard fan of Clue or you've never seen it before, Clue the Movie Podcast is a must-listen.

Oh the Matt consultant.

Speaker 4 (00:23):

and interviewed and who got it?

Speaker 5 (00:30):
The what is m p s C means Ocean Pictures
Grift Enforcement.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
Super This is kind of like the opening credits that
the great them up at treat the bass.

Speaker 6 (00:57):
Oh Andy Flora is the amazing as the late extra
casting was from Central Casting.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Hello, everybody, welcome back to Clue Movie Podcast. We break
down the nineteen eighty five cult classic movie Clue one
minute at a time. My name is the boat brag Gilmour.
I'm joined as always by the General Jeff Smith, and
we just had another exhilarating of Clude Movie Podcast. As
we are now in our penultimate episode, which we learned
means almost last, almost last. You know, if you finish

(01:37):
in second place, are you the penultimate winner?

Speaker 1 (01:40):
It sounds better than losing because.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
It sounds ultimate, like I'm ultimate at something.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
I'm the penultimate warrior.

Speaker 4 (01:50):
That's the person that finished the Royal Rumble, the last
one to be.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Thrown out right, they were the penultimate Warrior. Oh man,
I'm using that on commentary. I'm gonna use that on
commentary for the next Rumble week.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
I finally made my mark.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
That's good stuff. That's good stuff. There he is the
penultimate Warrior and he's gone. Jeff Smith has won the Rumble.
You know.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
That's excellently. We got credit for giving uh con O'Brien.
Didn't he get credit for giving some kind of.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
For the Rock, right, Yeah, that's right, yeah, colentary, I
forget what he said, but.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
A line from the Rock Yeah, you stupid idiot or something.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Of the Clue Movie podcast.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
You are. Well. Look, we're going to continue our Rewatchables
Awards ceremony. Just real quick, Jeff, give me your thirty
second to a minute reaction of Back to There for
the musical.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
Oh yeah, so I got to see Back to the
Future of the Musical a couple of weeks ago New York.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
I thought it was fantastic. I am not a musical
theater guy at all. I do not care for the theater.
I did not care for people breaking into song.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
I do not care for that style of acting that's
super big over the top, which is weird because clues
very much like that.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
But I'm not a fan of playing to the back
of the audience.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
And that being said, I thought it was excellent. I
enjoyed ninety nine percent of the songs. I've been listening
to the soundtrack since. I thought the actors were great,
and I liked the little changes that happened because they
had to do some adjustments for the stage and also.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
For twenty twenty four, so.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Doc's version of why he's injured is different.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
This time.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
They did not have anybody chasing around them in a
parking lot on the stage at the whichwoo pines.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Mall right, But I liked I really and I.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Actually thought the ending not to give it away, because
everyone should go see it because it.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Is now, you know, traveling to be in your town soon, Tory,
thank you. I thought this ending actually made.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
More sense than the movie, and they paid off something
about Marty in this ending that they kind of forget.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
About yes in the movie, And I thought.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Which I never even thought about, having a bit of
fan back in the future for my life when this
happens in the musical, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
That should happen, you know.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I can't believe. I'm gonna say it, I kind of
agree with you. I think the ending of the musical
might be a little bit better than the ending of
the movie.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I think it. It made me happy.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
And then from a technical standpoint, so you asked you
asked me watching it to send you emojis, yes, as
the as the one went on, and I think the
first emoji I sent you as I was sitting waiting
for a star was a bolt.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Of lightning because it's, you know, back in the future, but.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Also because in the theater there's a lot of lights
and circuits and blues.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Sounds very cool.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Very technology technological. And then for the intermission.

Speaker 2 (05:01):
I don't know when I sent you, I'll pull it
up here. Intermission Jeff sent me a uh oh stars
in your eyes emoji.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Oh okay, so I'm enjoying it.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
Yeah, I know there was I'm not creat being that
clear with emojis, but there wasn't a way to send
a lack of a skateboard because the intermission happens scene
that kind of replaces the invention of the skateboard scene,
but also done very well.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
I think they were.

Speaker 4 (05:32):
Very smart and the things that they consolidated into locations,
and then the ending, I had to send you a
gift and that was Joey from Friends, just with his
jaw hitting the floor because the last thing that happens
in the musical, I literally had to have someone push
my jaw up and we could talk about it afterwards,

(05:55):
because I don't want to spoil it for anybody, because
I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I knew nothing going in. I had not heard one
of the songs. I didn't know how they were going
to do anything, and I was not expecting what happened
at the end and what it did. I went, well,
I have to see this again.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
It's pretty incredible. It's an incredible show from a production standpoint.
If nothing else.

Speaker 1 (06:14):
It's great.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
But we'll talk more about that.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
It was more than thirty seconds.

Speaker 2 (06:19):
I'm sorry, No, it's fine. We'll talk more about that
at a later date. So we're going to go into
our minute ninety six of Clue the movie, the penultimate episode.
We're going to go through our categories. We want to
remind you October the seventh from say what where does this?

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Well go ahead, but then we'll just I'm trying to
remember where.

Speaker 2 (06:35):
This list that we're about, this list comes from the
Rewatchables podcast that's hosted by Bill Simmons. These are the
awards they go through for every movie they rewatch. They
watch a movie and then they give give the awards.
But I'm the I stole it from them, but we
want to remind you. October the seventh, we're going to
do a live Clue the Movie podcast for our finale
on all the Socials. So just follow Jeff and I

(06:58):
and we'll make sure that we tell you about it
as that day and time gets closer. We're shooting for
five pm Eastern, four pm Central, and two pm Pacific time.
If you're anywhere else, figure it out. We're gonna go
through our categories here. Our final categories are that we're
going to award to Clue the Movie And if you
didn't hear the first episode of this, go back last

(07:20):
week and listen to those so you kind of get
a feel of what we're doing here. But here we go.

Speaker 1 (07:24):
What a weird time for an audience member to be
skipping to the end.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
It'd be very strange, Like we're.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Almost there, they're like, I can't handle ninety five.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Yeah, I gotta go straight to ninety six. But it
could happen. Maybe you're listening in like reverse order, you know,
or maybe you didn't miss last week and then you
see this week and you're like, oh, wait a minute,
what am I doing? So I'm just trying to help
them out. But this is the award, so we're gonna
start here. This is a great one because this is
kind of hard, so we're gonna have to pick a room.
But this is the Dinner Thieves Benie Hanna Award for

(07:53):
the scene stealing Location. What was the best location? I
guess the best looking room because they're at the body
manner the entire time. So what is your favorite of
the room?

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Hallway, the Grand Hole, Halways got.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Yeah, the entry, it's got the entrances of everybody, it's
got the chandeliers that fall, and it's got the floor
pattern which may or may not be designed to look
like the Clue board game.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Depending on where you ask. Yeah, now, Halways great. It's
hard to really battle that one, but I'm I'm gonna
go with the study.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
A lot happens in the study.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
A lot happens in the study. We get a lot
of character, great character moments in the study. It looks cool,
it looks like I'd want to study to look if
I had a study, And maybe that's kind of a
self fulfilling prophecy because my only thoughts on studies are
from this movie. My earliest exposure to a study was
from this movie, so I think it shaped my whole
idea of what a study could be. And I haven't

(08:56):
studied other studies.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
No, So this is would you study in a study?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
I don't know really what you.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
But I do like that they have a bookcase that
is the door, right as every fancy mansion should have,
because that's kind of like a secret passage.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
It's not a secret passion. It's just a cool door.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
It's a cool door.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Cool door. Colonel Musterer just couldn't figure out.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Just couldn't crack that case. So we're gonna go. I'm
gonna go with the study. You're going with the whole.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
The whole which is not necessarily a room, but it
is in the game, so I guess that counts.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
It is in the game. The Great Shot Gordo Award
for most Cinematic Shot.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
Where does that come from?

Speaker 2 (09:40):
I actually jet a great shot Gordo. I'm gonna google
it real quick. The Great Shot Gordo Award.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
But while I'm it a literal shot like from a gun.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
So, oh this is there's actually a Reddit thread about
what this means. So Gordo Willis is this cinematographer from
the Godfather trilogy. So there you go.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
So it's a cinematic shot, not a actual See I'm
in clue mode, so I'm thinking, oh, well, it's got
to be when they shoot mister body but miss But
if it's a cinematic, what's a great shot.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
I think when they're when when they're approaching, when when
I say they let me pronounce pal, when Professor Plum
and Miss Scarlett are driving up to the body Man
or the hill House and they're at the gate, and
there's the It's frightened dialogue, seeing just that kind of
shot of the old school fifties car in front of

(10:39):
this ornate gait with the matte painting, but with the
you know house kind of in the in the background
while they're in the foreground. That's what I'm going with.

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Okay, I will go with the shot from the top
of the stairs of the attic looking down at Yvette
and mister Green because it's a shot that sparks a
laugh and it cuts to it several times, and it
shows just them standing at the bottom, not wanting to

(11:09):
go up in front of each other because they're scared.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
And another it's kind of yours.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
They're fraightened. It's a fear theme. But I think it's
it's good. It's very simple shot, but it's framed in
a way that it gets a laugh, and that's not
easy to do just a static shot.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
They're not moving, they're not talking, but it's just framed
in such a way that it's very funny. So I'll
go stairs.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
I'm trying to think of there's any other shots.

Speaker 4 (11:37):
There's lots of just long shots, which are nice, you know,
there are long takes where the actors get to just
do their thing. There's not a lot of coverage in
some of these scenes, so that's nice as well when
they do long takes.

Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah, I'm trying to think.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
And then the singing telegram looks great in the in
the singing Telegram girl looks great in the framed in
the door with darkness all around her. Oh, and then
the shots of the close ups of the of their
faces when the doorbell rings for the second telegram girl,
and it's everybody gets their close up in shadows. Oh
that's pretty good. M that is pretty good with that

(12:16):
now too. You know I would go for that for
drama stares for comedy.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
Yeah, let's go to the next one here, which is
the Vincent Chase Award. Are we sure this character is
really good at their job? Of course reference to.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
And I mean not as an actor, I mean as
a cop.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
As a cop, it's bill He's a terrible cop.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
Just really, the Chase is so the theory is an
entage business. Chase is not a good actor.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
I think it's like, is he really good at being
an actor? Because he turns down all these good roles,
like he doesn't want to do Aquaman too. He makes
these choices to make these weird indie films instead of
like the big Hollywood box office pictures.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
And I agree, I don't think he was even that
good in the scenes that we saw him. Two. That
show's not for Vinny Chase. Vinny Chase could be anybody.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
I mean, look, when you see I think Adrian Grenier
is his name. He's obviously a very handsome man. He
could be a lead actor ish if he put on
about you know, fifteen more pounds of muscle. You'd believe
him in a lot of rules.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Yeah, but where'd he go?

Speaker 2 (13:24):
I don't know. It's a great thing. He was vinc cheaked.
That was his Apex Mountain Apex the Big Kohunaburger Award
for best use of food and drink. It's gotta be
the monkey brain soup.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Right, monkey brains or or yeah, I guess when they're
slurping the soup is pretty good.

Speaker 2 (13:47):
Can you think of a better use of food?

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Sharkfin shark fin suit darkfin soup is that?

Speaker 4 (13:53):
And then when Missiness Peaconck is devouring the monkey brains
that I saw, you know, clue on the big screen
last couple weeks at Alba Droffs and the way she's
digging into that monkey's brains. People that that didn't even
know what it was. We're laughing at that. But I
also say, the the drink that uh Crida Mustard pours

(14:14):
for everybody, and he just pours it, doesn't lift up
the decanter, he just pours it into all the glasses
is a pretty good use of drink. And then of
course missus Peacock, maybe she was.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Poisoned by a drink. There's a lot of food going
on this movie. Man, interested any of you in fruit
or dessert?

Speaker 2 (14:32):
Fruit and dessert? Yeah, I buy again. I don't think
you're beating the shark fin soup and the monkey brain.
That's the best.

Speaker 1 (14:37):
Good slurping, good slurping, Big Cahuna.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
The Butcher's girlfriend Award for weakest link in the film.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
Is that pulp fiction reference?

Speaker 2 (14:46):
Pulp fiction reference for Ruz Willis's character character don't. I
don't find her to be a weak link.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Honestly, no, I don't either weakest link and clue.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
So who doesn't bring it clue? I mean that's that's
a who's the weakest link?

Speaker 1 (15:05):
That's mmm, the dogs are even good.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
I know everyone's pretty good in the movie.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
We answer that one. That's not being being political. It's
just I can't give anybody if that person.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Wasn't there well.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Like to me, when I think weakest link, I think
either one the character is unnecessary, or two they don't
act well in the film, and I can't really pinpoint that.

Speaker 4 (15:34):
I mean, an easy, cheap answer is the cook. But
that's just because she doesn't have a lot to.

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Do right and she only has one.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Light of dialogue.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
I guess we go with that.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
At seven thirty, did we believe it? I believe that
dinner was ready at seven thirty, so I bought it.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
She nailed it.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Yeah, if we have to give it to somebody, I
think we give it to missus Howe or you know.
The cop is a pretty bad cop.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
He's a weak link as far as being in a story.
But he checks out the car and goes underneath it
in the rain.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
On Let's go to the Ron Burgundy Flute Award for
the best time to take a pee break. I think
I think this is actually an obvious answer. I think
this is an ending.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
B Oh, it's a late pe but yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
Like if I'm checking out for one of them, if
I'm checking out for anything, and Clue it's the second
in it.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
Yeah, there's a clip of Michael.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
It was not I didn't include it in the Who
Done a documentary, But there's a clip of Michael McKeon's
interview an outtake that I think it's up on the
it Looks So Fake YouTube channel where Michael McKeon on
the set of Clues having a conversation with director Jonatha Lynne,
and there was I guess some plot point that was
only said once in the movie that Michael mckeeon thought

(17:02):
might need to be said more than once so the
audience would get it, because he said, what if they
go to right now to go to the bathroom and
they missed that, And Jonquan's answer to that was, well,
they can't.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
I can't go to the bathroom, right, So I guess.

Speaker 4 (17:18):
There is no there's no much according to the director.
But yeah, I guess so you don't miss anything. If
you don't, well you don't, you you miss like missus
Peacack was a man and and you know that.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
But it's if you got to go I guess.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
That if you have, I'm saying like, I'm not saying
I'm going to skip out on it, but if there
is one time to where I'm going to like check
my phone.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
Yeah, but well yeah, once the movie gets going, there's.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
Really a time to do it.

Speaker 1 (17:44):
Yeah, there's no when.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Maybe when Uh they're pretending to make out with the
dead bodies. It's funny as far as the plot is.
Just they're just making Officer Bill look dumb again.

Speaker 1 (17:59):
Yeah for Bill.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Is there a better title for this movie?

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Well, no, no, it's clue.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
There is no better title. I mean there, Yeah, it's.

Speaker 1 (18:10):
Just no better Oh can you ask Juniper?

Speaker 2 (18:13):
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah we can, ai co.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
Host if she were to come up with five more
titles for Clue the movie.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
Let's see what we got here we go? Uh, Juniper,
welcome back to Clue Movie Podcast. We want you to
come up with five alternate titles for Clue the movie. Yeah,
we give her the hard stuff, we really did.

Speaker 7 (18:36):
Thank you. It's good to be back at Clue Movie Podcast.
Here are five alternate titles for Clue the Movie. One
Mystery Mansion, two Deadly Secrets, three the Final Clue for
Murder by Invitation? Who done it at Hillhouse? What do
you think any of these stand out as the perfect alternative?

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Well, I'll be honest with you. Murder by Invitation is pretty.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
Mutation, and if this were a trilogy, the Final Clue
is a pretty good title.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
The Final Clue.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
So Clue Clues, as we established earlier, is part two, and.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Then the Final Clue.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
Yeah, part three, Clue Clues, the final Clue. But murder
by Invitation is actually kind of a cool name in general, it.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Sounds like an episode of Murder she wrote or Colombo. Yes,
but see that pop up as it starts.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
But like, honestly, if you saw Leslie Nielsen, if you
saw a not like you're in a Barnes and Noble
and you're like, I want to find a murder mystery
book and you're looking at him and then you see
murder by Invitation? Invent Why can't I say that invitation?
Murder by invitation? Do you not go? What's that?

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Oh? Yeah, I wonder what they're getting invited to?

Speaker 2 (19:53):
Yeah? How are they murdered? Why are they being invited
to a murder?

Speaker 1 (19:57):
Why would you be invited to you murder? Why would
you RCP? Yes?

Speaker 2 (20:02):
All right? The next one the Steven A. Smith Hottest
Take Award. Do you have a hot take on this
movie that people typically don't agree with you on, but
but it's your hot take?

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Well, let me tell you, I.

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Do know who Steven Smith is, only because he's on
the Howard Stern Showalt's not.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
A big sports guy. But a hot take on Clue.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Hm hmm, only if you have one. If you don't
have a hot sucks.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
I hate Clue.

Speaker 4 (20:31):
I think it's a terrible movie. I've got to admit
it now. In the last night I'm just kidding. No,
I don't think I have a hot take. I don't
think I've said anything or thought anything super controversial that
a fan would say, how dare you?

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Well? I have a hot take? Maybe Clue is the
best murder mystery movie where the murder doesn't make any sense,
Like where the plot is nonsensical, you cannot follow it,
you cannot solve it. It's erroneous and ridiculous. But it's
still the best murder mystery move.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
I agree, And for that reason, I don't think it's
a hot take. I think most people, if they really
think about it, maybe the hot take is that especially
the last two innings make no sense right, and that
the Scarleton is the only one that does. But anyone
that you said that to, we'll go, yeah, you're right
if they think about it.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
So maybe, all right, this one's I think it's kind
of hard because I don't think there's an answer for
this one. The Teddy KGB Award for the actor in
a completely different movie?

Speaker 1 (21:41):
What does teddy KGB? Where does that come from?

Speaker 2 (21:43):
I don't know that one either. I'm about to look
it up. Okay, but what do you think an actor
in a completely different movie?

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Yeah, I mean, the first person that came to mind,
I guess is Leaving because he's the one actor that's
not a comedian.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
He's a musician.

Speaker 4 (21:58):
He's from a punk band, so it's odd that he's
just an odd choice for casting. That being said, I
think he's great in the movie, and I think that
it works for the movie that he's different than everybody else.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Oh, okay, Teddy is a reference, by the way to Rounders.
The Russian poker player in Rounders's different. I haven't seen it, Gamon,
it's Matt Damon. Yeah, I haven't seen it.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
I mean, that's who I think of. But because Jane
Wheedland plays the singing Telegram girl, but.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
That makes sense. She's from the Go Gos, but she's singing,
so that makes sense.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
Leaving is just an odd choice because he's not necessarily
known or was it known as an actor, although this
was not his first movie.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
But is there a character that you feel like they're
over like it? Just like, for instance, I don't know
if you saw the twenty was it eighteen Power Rangers movie.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Theatrical that'll be on the next podcast.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
Oh you haven't seen it? Well, like Elizabeth Banks plays
Ropulsa and it's not that she does a bad job
as Rita Ropulsa, but she's just in a completely different
movie than everybody else. She's they're trying to ground it,
make it a little bit more realistic, and she is
like over the top.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
But she knew it's kind of like is it Gini
Kershawan and Showgirls? That she was aware that this is
ridiculous and I want to play it as such.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yes see, this is where you and I are different.
Your go to was Power Rangers and mine the Showgirls.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
If you ever want to know what separates Brad and
Jeff movie wise, thank you.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
Well, here we go. We have a few more Hall
of Fame plaque out of this movie. Who's getting inducted
into the Hall of Fame? I think that this is
an easy answer too.

Speaker 4 (23:49):
I think it's the same answer as the next category,
which is just one oscar.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Yep, that's Tim Curry. It's Tim Curry, Tim Curry. Tim
Curry gets the Oscar, Tim Curry goes in the Hall
of Fame. Yeah you really, you really can't compete with
either one of them.

Speaker 4 (24:03):
Everybody's great, but come on, even they all admit it's
that they couldn't do what Tim Curry did and nobody could.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
And that's why when Zach.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
Craiger does his little new Clue movie, don't try to
have a Tim Curry type.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
There's no there isn't one that I think right now,
actually we have a Tim Curry type.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
There's probably not a Tim Curry type. And don't call
the movie New Clues. Let's just do that, all right.
Best double feature with this movie.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Oh, knives Out.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
Maybe Knives Out's a good one. Knives Out to.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Watch it with Murder by Death, because Murder by Death
also has Aileen Brennan, and it's a murder mystery comedy
one that if we did some of these awards when
we said, you know what has not aged well, has
a few easier answers. The entire Peter Seller's character comes
to mind. But yeah, I would go with Knives Out.

(25:04):
Or I think people probably like also that like this,
like Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
So that's for those times they're teamed up.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
For me, obviously, I've referred a lot to the eighty
five trilogy, and so for me, I paired this one
with Fletch just because that's what I think when I
think a clue Fletching back to the Future. I mean,
any of those, because there's characters in each of those
that intersect with one another. So it's true. But like,
if I'm trying to think of like a more modern

(25:34):
movie that maybe you could pair up with this one,
oh man, that is hard Knives Out. It's a good one.
Knives Out's probably the winner.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
Would you do another Who Done It? Kind of movie?

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Would you do Radio Murders?

Speaker 4 (25:48):
Yeah, Readily Murders, And that does have some overlap. That
is Michael mckinnan and Christopher Lloyd And it's a silly
kind of who that comedy that's got a big cast.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
You do scream if you wanted to, you know, have
a wo Done It? That's kind of funny. You could,
you could, you would, but yeah I could.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Uh yeah, I mean I think I think, uh, my
pick's Radio Lamberder's actually want to go Radio Lamberder. That's
my that's my double feature. Best racehorse name for this movie, Okay,
give it to me. Monkey Brains is a good one.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Oh and you live in racehorse name territory.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
I do. All the streets in my neighborhood are named
after racehorse. We actually have a monkey fist. So there's
a monkey monkey monkeys.

Speaker 4 (26:31):
Oh did we do I think we talked about this
then when we were we were I think we did come.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Up with horse Yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
Do you remember any of them?

Speaker 1 (26:39):
Yeah? I think monkeys. Brains was probably our number.

Speaker 2 (26:43):
One Canthony's cuisine.

Speaker 1 (26:45):
That's a grains in the side of my face.

Speaker 2 (26:48):
Your flames, Uh would be good.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
You know who you and me, honey bunch for the
you know you.

Speaker 2 (26:54):
And me, honey bunch is good?

Speaker 1 (26:56):
Yeah, you and me, honey bunch. Coming up with flying
on the side of my face?

Speaker 2 (27:00):
Yeah, brains, I like that one of Red Herring. Red
Herring is good. Uh. I don't know if jag or
Hoover counts, but that's kind of funny.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Missus Peacock was a man with one plus plus two
plus one and uh determined to enjoy myself.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Is I am your singing telegram? Too long?

Speaker 1 (27:27):
No, that's the thing about horse names. They can go
on forever.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
It could could do the entire Missus Peacock introduction speech.

Speaker 2 (27:36):
I'm trying to think, Uh, there's gotta be something we're
missing next.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
With every inch of my body.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Every inch of my body, uh you know, uh, sleep
with my wife. Can we do that one?

Speaker 1 (27:50):
I'm gonna go home and sleep with that way coming.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
In last Well, and obviously this Scarlett, professor Plumb is white,
like all the character names are.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
Yeah, that's true. Those are pretty Is.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
There one we're missing? Is there? Is there a good racehorse?
There's got to be a great racehorse name we're missing?

Speaker 1 (28:13):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (28:13):
Man, who did I kill? Who did I kill? Is
pretty good? I'm not thinking of any other ones. But
I really like.

Speaker 1 (28:27):
Hand the winner. Let us in, let us in, let
us out, let us out.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Oh that's good too, though, And then you know you
could do the revolver, the candlestick. The weapons are good,
nobody's called them. The police are coming. We we we madam,
the police are coming. Nobody's called them.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Uh, there's safety of numbers.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Turn out your pockets.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
Oh right, okay, my dear, I don't give up that, right, right.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Right, right right, Frankly, Scarlet, I don't give okay. Yeah,
what piece of memorabilia would you want from this movie?

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Oh? I do have memorabilia from this movie.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
I mean to me, it would be the candlestick.

Speaker 4 (29:18):
Yeah, well, I which is why I won't tell people
what streets I live on. But I do own two
of the Matt paintings from the movie, so that's pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
But yeah, the weapons would be nice.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
A letter would be nice. Any of the props, it
would be super cool.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
I don't want to sound like a creep, but like
some of the costumes, like I'd want Professor Plum's costume,
Miss Scarlett's costume, Missus Peacock's hat, Miss Peacock's hat, Ileen
Brennan's cape, or not Ilean Brinnan's cape. I'm sorry, Missus
White's cape. Not only con the little thing that goes
on top of it, Vett's head. What is that called?

Speaker 1 (30:04):
That's what you want from Evet's constant.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
You're doing so well in avoiding it without sound like
you've named every other character, which.

Speaker 1 (30:12):
I the cops, the cop wet.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
Jacket actually actually though illegitimately, the singing Telegram girl outfit
or her hat. They'll be private. Yeah, the hat would
probably be the best thing you could own. The Andy
and Red Award, And I came and pronounced the next
thing z Hora Tanejo Award for what happens the next day? Oh,

(30:36):
what happens the next day?

Speaker 4 (30:38):
What happens after this depends on the ending. There are
three next days after this. But I think, as we've
discussed before, I think they all they all go to jail,
and just a matter of how long they're going to
be gone, and then it can become like the Seinfeld finale. Yeah,
you thought we weren't going to mention Seinfeld, where you know,

(31:02):
they're in jail for a year and then they'll be back,
just go right back.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
It's a reference to hum.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Okay, did you think when you saw the Seinfeld finale
after the fact, right.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Yes, yes, of course, But I had no I didn't
know anything about it.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
Okay, So I remember watching it, you know, when it happened,
and when he said he says the line you know
will be.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
You know, in a year, we'll be back.

Speaker 4 (31:32):
I thought, is there a chance they'll do in one
year a reunion where they all get out and just
and they joked about it. I think I've seen them
in interviews where they said, and what would the line
be that George says when they get out, like they
walk into the.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Phone shop or the apartment, and he says, that was brutal. Yeah,
that's what I want the clue.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Uh, but you saw you saw the Curb finale.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
Yes, that was a nice revisionist history love. But boy,
Larry David, he likes that finale. He's like, we're doing
it again.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
We're going to do it, but that like, think about
the balls on that, man, you know what I mean,
like the balls to be Like you hated the Seinfeld finale,
So guess what I'm gonna do with the Curb finale.
Exact same thing.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
Same idea, court, recurring characters.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Same thing.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
Kind of brilliant, to be honest with you, different ending,
different ending, but kind of brilliant, thank goodness.

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Because I thought they are really doing it all again.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
I did have a fear of impending doom for a moment, like,
oh man, are we going to do the whole thing?
And we're gonna have right? But you know it was it.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Was because he would.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
He would.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
That's how he felt.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
When I was watching Toy Story three of the Theater
and they're all like going in the incinerator, I thought
Pixar would kill them.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
Oh dude, they would kill the.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Toys and then it would be like, hey, uh, that's
what happens to toys, so tough deal with it. I
thought they're gonna kill him.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
The Coach through three. Toy Store three is like a
tear joker. I've never seen Toy Story four. I kind
of refuse to.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Oh, you're like Quin Tarantino. That's what he said too.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
I agree with him. The Coach Vin Stock Award for
best life lesson. Is there a life lesson in this movie?

Speaker 1 (33:23):
Do you know who Coach Finstock is?

Speaker 2 (33:25):
No?

Speaker 1 (33:26):
Oh, he is the coach from t Wolf.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
Oh right, right, yes, yes I do know.

Speaker 1 (33:32):
So he's given advice to Michael.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
J that's right, and he and it's like terrible advice.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
It's like, don't I wish I could remember boy for
bad but up something like that. Yeah, don't date a woman.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
That's after a city, something like that.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
Yeah, I forget The Team Wolf was excellent advice in
the movie.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
We all make mistakes. We all make that's worth well,
we all make mistakes.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
That is a pretty good life lesson. I don't think
that there's a better one than that. Yeah, no, yeah,
we all make mistakes. And then finally, our final category.
On the penultimate episode of Clearly Podcast, the Slow Ride
slash Kid Cutting Pursuit a Happiness Award for best needle
drop Moment. So best use of a song in the film,

(34:24):
there's only three. Okay, so what do we got, Well,
there's two that are literal needle.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Well, there's one that's a literal needl. No, there's two
that are little need drops. Because Benn is listening.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
To Shake Rode in the role at the beginning, which
is also our in credit song that we just heard.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Shaboom is the.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
Song Boom when they're fooling poor Bill. And then the
song I Will give it to you, even though we
don't get to hear.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
Anything beyond the first line is you're singing telegram.

Speaker 2 (34:54):
That is the best needle drop. If I'm going to
go with an actual song, I'm going with shake round
own Roll because it kind of opens and book ends us.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
It's the book in and people wonder why is the
shake ground and roll, And my theory is it's the
roll of the dice.

Speaker 1 (35:10):
The game. I don't know if it's true. I guess
we could ask Joan Win, But.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Do you remember shake right on a roll always like
a roll of the dice.

Speaker 4 (35:20):
Yeah, that's and it's also time appropriate. But that was
my assumption that why would this song of every song
in the world be and thank goodness, they didn't go
eighties and.

Speaker 6 (35:31):
Have like don't take money, don't you know?

Speaker 1 (35:39):
They didn't do that.

Speaker 4 (35:40):
Although on the soundtrack that came out from from Lalla Land,
there is a version of the clue theme that is
kind of synthy, and it makes me wonder if it
was recorded to be the end credits and have it
be like the.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Eighties, like it got fault.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
It's not full fult of mine, but it's.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
It's it's there.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
It cynthy, yeah, cynthy.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Well, there you go. Those are our categories. Do you
feel like we've left anything out, like on the table
from this movie? Because we're ninety six minutes into it,
we're two years into this.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
What could be left on the table.

Speaker 8 (36:20):
I'm sure there's plenty that's been left on the table,
which is good because someone could pick up after this
and say, you know what, I listened to that and
here's a whole I'm gonna do it minute by minute
as well.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
If somebody does that, which you have our full permission
to do, go for it. You just have to call
it clues.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
Podcast clues.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
Yeah, just that's my only request. Clues.

Speaker 4 (36:44):
Well, hopefully before the seventh If there's anything that I've forgotten.
I will bring it up on our live.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Finale, Live Finale, October the seventh.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Stay tuned to our social that's the end.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
Stay tuned to our socials on on October the seventh,
and that is going to be on at four pm
Central past Eastern, specific.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
In Pacific and wherever else.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
Why don't they ever why why don't they ever mentioned
mountain time?

Speaker 4 (37:21):
Uh, they used to, but they would say central and mountain,
and the mountain just kind of used to have to
deal with central time.

Speaker 1 (37:26):
They had to pick right because sometimes would be on
at seven.

Speaker 2 (37:31):
Well, because isn't like, I know Arizona, what time zones Arizona.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
That's one hour ahead of Pacific, So that's mountain.

Speaker 2 (37:41):
But sometimes they don't acknowledge daylight savings.

Speaker 1 (37:44):
Right arizonas they did not acknowledge daylight.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
So sometimes they're central, sometimes they're mountain.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
It's gotta be rough. I mean, now it's no big deal.

Speaker 4 (37:53):
But back in the day where you had an appointment television,
how'd you know, like you'd be ready to watch the
Seinfeld finale and it was an.

Speaker 2 (38:00):
Hour over and you missed it?

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Yeah, Like, why are they in court? John Pinnett never
saw them fall out of a car.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
Yeah, exactly, very strange. Uh well, look, that's our penultimate
episode of Clue Movie Podcast. We will be back next
week with our ultimate episode, the live finale, and we

It's been a pleasure, Clue dot dot com, Gilmour dot com.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
This has been.
