Speaker 2 (00:34):
Coach B is the man.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
Let's get started.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
This is the Coachella Valley Sports Report on Fox Sports
Radio HERB and on Fox Sports twelve to seven a m.
Palm Springs and we are streaming twenty four to seven
on the Ihart Radio app. We have the Palm Springs
Power in studio once again. You know, this is one
of my favorite things that I'd love to run when

(00:58):
it comes to the Palm Springs Power I love this
right here.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
This.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
I don't know if you guys hear this when you
hear the drop, but this is whenever I hear this,
I always know it's going to be a good time.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
This is your hole for Palm Springs Pour Baseball, Fox
Sports twelve seventy am.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Palm Spring gentlemen, we have the Palm Springs Power in studio.
By all means, please introduce yourself to the Fox Sports
radio audience.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Yeah, I'm justin Lee When's from the Orange County. I'm
actually one of the broadcasting in terms of the Palm
Sperous Power. So you might hear my voice on play
by play, color or even PA if you're at the stadium. Yeah,
I'm just here to help out and learn some new
things about the boys here today.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Absolutely, you do a really really outstanding job. And we
have some players in studio. I love this, the first
athletes who've had in studio at Fox Sports twelve seventy am. So, gentlemen,
please go ahead and introduce yourself.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Yeah, my name is Austin Haller. I'm from Orange County
as well. This is my second year with the Power
Play infield all infield positions, and yeah, I'm just glad
to be back this year.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Excellent.

Speaker 5 (01:59):
This is my first year.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
I'm kJ Moon'm a corner infield and outfielder from Athens, Georgia,
and like I said, it's my first year having a
great time with boys, got a few more weeks left,
trying to take in every moment.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
And what brought you all the way to California.

Speaker 6 (02:13):
So I had a connection with my school my freshman
year and out here, and I have a family that
lives out here in Bakersfield, and it was a no
brainer to me. It was not many summers you get
in college, so it was a new experience and I
just wanted to take advantage of it while I have
the time.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Too. Excellent and once again the Coachella Valley Sports Report,
we are here live on Fox Sports Radio twelve seventy am.
We're excited. We are the broadcast home of all Power
home games, So anytime you're a home game, you'll hear
Palm Springs Power here on Fox Sports Radio. I just
want to ask some stories and just get some context

(02:48):
for you, and let's just talk a little bit about
what made you want to play baseball? Why did you
fall in love with baseball? What is the passion for baseball?

Speaker 7 (02:57):
Yeah, so I think.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
From my father, really, you know, growing up, everything was
about baseball, and I just grew up watching the sport,
playing the sport, loving the sport, and so I think
that's just where I found my passion for the game excellent.

Speaker 6 (03:14):
I think very similarly, it's just a shared passion for
the game. I've played since I was about four years
old and played all kinds of different sports up and
down the spectrum, and baseball's just consistently been there. I love,
you know, the little kid getting the rope, chains, the
bat and gloves, all the cool little stuff and just
the camaraderie of playing with all the boys, and as

(03:36):
as long as I've been playing, it's just been a
shared love. And I want to make a career out
of this. And I enjoy every day like it's the
last pulling up to the ballpark. And there's really nothing
better in my eyes than getting to play this game.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Absolutely. And one thing that was unique that I found
out when I first came out here and I talked
to Andrew Starkey, who's the owner of your Palm Springs Powered.
They've been here I think twenty one years now. When
I first talked to him, I thought it was minor
league baseball. But the unique thing is it's college ball.
So explain that to me. So, because the season is
still going, when when when the power began playing?

Speaker 8 (04:11):
Right?

Speaker 7 (04:12):
Right?

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Yes, so talk to me a little bit about it.
And I don't know if you justin you can if
you can help and and explain that or or whatnot.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Well, I guess the best way to put it is,
you know, it's a culmination of do you want do
you want athletes? But the way that the Power works
is that we're taking players who have potential to play
in professionals. So for example, we've had players who got
signed actually this year into the Pioneer leagues.

Speaker 8 (04:35):
So there's a few players that have come by.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
Even we had a starting pitcher this year, Hudson Bunkle
who signed into the Pioneer.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I remember that because he pitched a couple of games
and during the broadcast you said that he got signed.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, he got signed literally, I think after his second
appearance he was they said, well we.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Got to get this guy exactly.

Speaker 8 (04:50):
Yeah, that's exactly how that happened.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
And he kind of like disappeared from our eyes and
we're like, what happened to him? And we found it.
He got signed about maybe a week later. And so
that's kind of the purpose with the Powers, just trying
to get exposure for these guys who want to either
change to a new home or if they want to
play at the next level, which is the whole point.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
Right right, And that's awesome. And you guys have got
to see that. I used to do when the the
La Clippers had a team in Ontario. They've since moved
them to San Diego. And when you see players that
make their journey, they'll go up and they'll become professional athletes.
It's got to be it's got to be pretty pretty
refreshing for you.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Oh yeah, I mean you get to see these guys
play and do what they do. You know, Austin Holler,
the way he's been hitting in the leadoff spot, kJ
Moon when he hits plus one hundred and five.

Speaker 8 (05:35):
Off the bat over the wall or whatever.

Speaker 3 (05:37):
Huh, that's that's it's a dream to be able to
watch D one athletes because you don't get to really
do that unless you're a professional at the next level
as a broadcaster.

Speaker 8 (05:45):
Because it's very limited those job spots.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
So when you get a chance to come out during
the summer and watch all these guys, it's always a
treat to do so.

Speaker 2 (05:51):
And one thing, so were you kJ Were you the
first one that hit the home run? I was, yeah, Yes,
the first home run this season. So I'm listening when
I'm I'm actually here running aboard and I'm listening, and
what is that like when you're the first one to
hit that home run?

Speaker 5 (06:04):
It was awesome?

Speaker 6 (06:05):
It was cool, you know, Uh, to get the party started,
it was really cool. And then to keep tacking it
on and then Austin to come out here and just
you know, casually start batting five hundred, hitting balls four hundred.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Wait wait, hold on, you're you're batting five hundred.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
I don't know, I haven't I haven't looked at the stats,
but he's batting five.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
Really, that is insane. That's that's that's really good stuff.
That's so what do what do you guys on this season?
How is it going for you guys? Are you you
exceeding your expectations? I'm sure you're Are you still in
contact with your your college coaches they said, hey, you know,
I know you guys are doing well, but save some
of that. But when you guys come back and play right.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
Yeah, No, it's been a it's been a good season
so far.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
You know, we only have a few losses and uh,
there were a couple of disappointing losses. But for the
majority of the season, we've been winning games, playing how
we want to and uh, you know, I just think
if we continue to, uh keep playing how we play,
and we'll continue to win games and have a shot
to win the championship again.

Speaker 2 (07:03):
Right, Right, So since you were here last year, it
was back to back.

Speaker 8 (07:07):
Now back to back. Now they're going for trying to
go for.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
The three pat the three p Yeah. Yeah, Now, today
is gonna be a little I know you're from Georgia,
it's gonna be a little hot. This is your first
year out here, right, this is my first year out here. Yeah,
it's gonna be what.

Speaker 8 (07:19):
Eleven today, something like that.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
Yeah, are you guys ready for that heat?

Speaker 6 (07:24):
I mean from Georgia, it's a different tint of heat.
You got one hundred and fifteen out here in dry right,
and in Georgia you'll have like ninety. It'll be extremely humid, right,
So I'll take a hundred. I'll take one hundred out here.
Dry heat r any day of the week than just
heavy humid Georgia heat. So I'm it's been an adaption
for sure, right, But I mean I'll take you all

(07:45):
days of the week.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
I'll ask you what is it that you like most?
You say you have family in Bakersfield, which is kind
of central California. It's more like that, that's more like
the Midwest. Yeah, because there's a lot of agriculture. But
what is it? What are you like it about it
in southern This is so for me. I'm born raised
in California. Southern California is a different state. I wish
we would separate. But what do you like most about
being out here in Southern California.

Speaker 5 (08:06):
It's I think just the new experiences for sure. I
was getting all the way out here.

Speaker 6 (08:12):
I wanted a new experience in that, and you know,
kind of branching out into a different space and getting
to meet all the guys on the team and from
different places and learning so much.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
It's been a really cool experience.

Speaker 6 (08:24):
And like I mentioned earlier, family that lives out here,
my adoptive family or my biological family lives out here.
And last weekend I got to see my grandma and
my sister, which was absolutely incredible. And then they'll all
be out here about two weeks again, all of them
will get to come out here and watch me.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
That's awesome. That is that's awesome when you get people
come out and and you came back out again, you
wanted to see this again. So what brings you back?

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Yeah, you know, there's I just know there's a good
group of guys coming back from the team last year.
And you know, the coaches are great, Andrew, our owner
is great. And I just love love play for the
fans out there. I love the community out here, and uh,
you know, the fans are great, the atmosphere is great.
You know, it's just it's just a great place to play.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
Excellent. And you know, one thing I want to talk about,
would you justin is is the when you think about
the story is players are they're they're they're in college,
they're trying to get to the next level. But the
broadcaster side talk to us a little bit about that
in your journey as well, because everyone's trying to get
to that next level.

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Right, and you know that's always a goal. Especially it's
an internship, right, We're here to get experience, we're here
to get hours, We're trying to get you know, as
they say, reps is what what broadcasters need nowadays to
kind of show off the resume and be like, hey,
I've done this I've done that. This is where I
can be and thrive in that space. So being able
to do it and come out here and do different
roles kind of opens your eye up a little bit
more to kind of what those roles look like and what.

Speaker 8 (09:48):
The needs are required.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
So for me personally, like when I was in college,
my and I'll be honest, my major actually wasn't even broadcaster.
Way say, okay, okay, I'm going one because my degree
was actually pre physical therapy.

Speaker 8 (10:03):
But yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (10:05):
A big change.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Yeah, yeah, my parents would have been proud of me.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
But right, But.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
When I was at Chapman, which is the school I
went to, an Orange God Panthers by the way, they
had a broadcast journalism club, so they have all their equipment.

Speaker 8 (10:25):
They do ESPN level broadcast stuff.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
So I kind of just said, hey, let's let me,
let's go try it, Let's go see what kind of
fun we can have with it. I fell in love
with it day one, right out of the bat, after
calling a few games, so.

Speaker 8 (10:36):
We literally did every sport.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
So now I call for Westcliffe University, which is an
Irvine okay, and I have another I think another job
for Newport Harbor coming up. For football nice, So that's
kind of my journey a little bit. But being able
to come out here and do this adds a little
bit more to the resume. But the reason why I
love doing broadcasting is because I used to be an
athlete myself, water poolo, swimming, football, you name it. I

(11:02):
was a kicker in football, so for me, the locker
room was the best place to kind of get to
know a lot of people and make friends in the
long term. And the other thing is that everybody has
a story of why they want to do what they
want to do, right, where they come from, who they're
playing for. That's kind of what I want to bring
out from players. It's not about me behind the mic
right necessarily, it's about what story I'm telling to everybody

(11:23):
because they're the ones that matter.

Speaker 8 (11:25):
We don't matter in that sense.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Absolutely totally well spoken, well said. You know, we're going
to take a quick commercial break. I'm want to make
sure that I can get these commercials going, but we'll
take a quick commercial break, and once again, you are

Speaker 8 (14:30):
Gentlemen. Yeah, Justin Lee broadcasts an intern for the Palm
Springs Power.

Speaker 7 (14:35):
Austin Haller, second year player for the Power.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
kJ Moon, first year player for the Palm Springs Power.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
I tell you, if you guys don't to make it
in baseball, you can get a future in radio because
you guys are sounding smooth. So one thing we were
talking about, yeat, it's just not fair, justin Like when
I look in the mirror, these gentlemen are athletes. They're
decent looking, you know, and it's like, why didn't I
get blessed that way?

Speaker 5 (14:57):
Come on, don't sell yourself short, don't sell yourself short.

Speaker 2 (14:59):
Come on, well, and they're tall so I'm sure so, yes, so.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
I feel you there. That's why, you know. I told
him like, if they sit down the cover.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Right now, yes, I am he challenge. So I totally
get it. So I totally understand. So. But one thing
we were talking about off air is we got some
big promotions coming up and again this is Fox Sports
twelve seventy am, home of your Palm Springs Power. Every
game this season, home game will be heard here on
Fox Sports Radio. Exciting stuff. Fourth of July. And it's

(15:29):
funny we were off air. You said this is going
to be the codes fourth of July, and you said
it's ninety five degrees.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
It's slowly going up though I just checked it like
a minute ago. It's slowly going up to it says
now it's like ninety seven ninety eight, which yeah, I know,
but wow, I was talking to Austin Holler before because
he was here last year. They said it was.

Speaker 8 (15:48):
Like maybe around what one hundred and twenty or something
like that.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Yeah, it was. It was.

Speaker 7 (15:51):
It was a hot one last year, yeah, for sure.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
I know. Last year they set a record. It was
hotter than Death Valley out here. It says one hundred
and twenty four degrees one day, which is insane. But
the fourth of July is coming up. I think it's Thursday.

Speaker 8 (16:03):
It's a Friday.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
It's a Friday, even better Friday. It makes sense because
the games. So if anyone doesn't know, your Palm Springs
Power plays home games every Tuesday and Wednesday and then
again on Friday and Saturday. So Friday will be the
fourth of July gang. And you said it's going to
be sold out. It's an early start. Typically the game
start at seven. I know when you guys had the wrestling,
it started at five, but it was a seven. Then

(16:25):
I'll ask you as a player, did you guys watch
the wrestling.

Speaker 7 (16:27):
A little bit?

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:28):
Yeah, yeah, I wish that could so I'm usually here
myself or someone else is running the board, and that
that was a night I said, Man, I wish I
would have gone out there and saw that. But they
had the wrestling that night. But the fourth of July,
big time fireworks. And it's and you're playing in an
opponent you can I'll let you articulate it. It's gonna
be a big time opponent you're playing now.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Yeah, it's so we have also have another league that
operates out here at the stadium. It's called the Power
Collegiate Summer League p s CL for short. It's a
culmination of a bunch of other college athletes, but there
are more of guys who are like maybe freshman, sophomore,
even juniors who are just uncommitted right now.

Speaker 8 (17:04):
So we have it.

Speaker 3 (17:05):
We had an uncommitted game early season to kind of
give them that exposure, for coaches to find these players
and give them a new home kind of deal. A
lot of these guys are like D two, D three.
There's a few D one guys in there as well.
Anni i A is another big one, right. So they
all play on eleven different teams in the PSL, and
essentially the opponent for next Friday, the July fourth game

(17:26):
is the All Stars.

Speaker 8 (17:27):
So we're picked.

Speaker 3 (17:28):
They pick all the All Stars, the coaches pick who's
been the best players in the league so far, and
then they put them together and they'll face off against
the power team next.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
That's a big time game. Yeah, so you guys are
ready for that game. That's gonna be a big time game. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
I remember from what I remember last year. You know,
they they they they played really well against us. It
was a tight game. I think we ended up winning
in taking the lead in the eighth or maybe even
walking it off in the ninth, but we ended up
pull out the win.

Speaker 7 (17:54):
So yeah, it should be a fun game.

Speaker 2 (17:56):
That's good and and you're are you ready for this
the first time out?

Speaker 5 (17:59):
I've only heard good things about it.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
A great atmosphere, great time, I mean, great opponent and everything,
everything up and down.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
So I'm really excited. I can't wait extly.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
And the one thing that I saw too with the
power and I tell you, Andrew does a really really
good job the stadium. We did our All Star game
there this year. I love that stadium. The Angels built
it gene Autry and you see there's a gene Autry
Street and with so he had a big influence in
the area. But one thing that's interesting, as I was
talking to Andrew back in January when he was getting
everything together, so there's host families. So the players come,

(18:31):
you come and live with a family while you're here
the whole time, the two months. Yes, talk about that experience.

Speaker 7 (18:37):
Yeah, so.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
Last year and even this year, you know, it's just
it's awesome how like a family can just welcome you
without it without even knowing you just for two months
just to live at your house. Like like that concept
to me is so wild. And so it's just it's
just awesome for people to like to accept people into
their home that they don't even know, right right, So.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
I live Shout out Ron, Shout out Ron, You're awesome.

Speaker 6 (19:04):
So, uh, me and one of my teammates from Mercer,
we both came out here and Ron opened his doors
to us, and like he said, how awesome it is
for them to do it. They get nothing in return.
They just open their doors and they're like, uh, we'll
give you the space to you know, obviously keep yourself
clean and respect their house and everything. But at the
same time they're opening up their house and it's it's

(19:26):
really awesome because I mean, it's just it's a roof
over your head.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
It's a place for you to.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
Come home every night, and then you don't have to
go like spend money on hotels, Airbnbs like anything like that.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
So Ron, you're awesome.

Speaker 6 (19:39):
Thank you for everything that you do for me and
Gag and so I'm very very grateful for them doing
that for us.

Speaker 2 (19:45):
So you're a foreign exchange student from America, but that's
that is so cool when you think about the way
he set up and the community just loves and embraces
the power. I saw you guys go to the Thursday
night street fair. How's it been with you guys in
the community out here? How how have people in Palm
Spreings embraced you?

Speaker 4 (20:02):
Yeah, you know, it's awesome. You know, some going out
in public some places, you know people well I'll wear
some some power gear and they'll recognize and then ask
me a few questions about the team and whatnot and
my experiences here, and you know, it's just it's awesome
for people to uh, you know, just be so engaged
into the team this year.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Right right, and I know it's your first year out
or how about you?

Speaker 6 (20:25):
Uh so at like the games, like it's like you're
trying to you know, you lock in and then there's
a little boy behind you.

Speaker 5 (20:31):
He's like hey number one, Hey number one.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (20:34):
I was like like hey, and then he's like, oh
my gosh, so uh to kind of like set that
example and like just like all the eyes are on you,
so you want to.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
Set the best example that you can while you're out here.

Speaker 6 (20:46):
And like obviously the people opening their doors for us,
and then the kids they love coming out here and
signing autographs, and so I think just trying to be
the best player that I can and for those kids
to look up to has been huge.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
And then the community has been awesome.

Speaker 2 (21:03):
Absolutely. And once again, you listen listening to the Coachella
Valley Sports Report on Fox Sports twelve seventy eight m
and you think you said you played the game since
you were four, So you're thinking that was you once
at one time when you were going out.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
Yeah, So if I was that, if that was me
as that little kid, and I'm saying hey to the
to the you know, the big kid on deck and
he waves at me, my night's made. Right, So I
want to be that for another little kid as well.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
Right, And I heard you guys off here talking a
little bit about it. Were one of you in the
college the playoffs are yeah? Okay, so yes, yeah, talk
to us a little bit about that and your you're
talking about your collegiate team as well and where you
play and just give some people the context.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
Right, So right now, I currently go to Western Kentucky University.
I've played the last two years there and going back
for my third year there and you know, yeah, we
had a great year this year. You know, won our conference,
ended up making a regional and uh, you know playing
uh we actually played at.

Speaker 7 (21:58):
Ole Miss SEC.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (21:59):
So just that experience is a whole different level from
like our our mid major school. And there was there's
so many people there. It was just a great experience,
like being able to be a part of a team
that's just succeeds so much and uh can go and
do those things.

Speaker 7 (22:15):
It's just it was just an awesome experience absolutely.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
And what school did you play?

Speaker 6 (22:18):
I played a mercer in my freshman year and then
I just got in the transfer portal and committed to
Augusta about a week and a half ago. There are
a D two down in like uh East Georgia, and uh,
I'm very excited. So it'll be it's definitely a turnaround,
a switch for sure. But there's a lot to look
forward to. There's a lot of new coming in and

(22:38):
it's just full of new opportunities. So I can't wait
to get started.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
So Augusta, I think they have a golf course down there.
Yeahty nice golf course. People may know a little bit
about that, but you know, I'll tell you. Even coming
from from the U the South, you have the Dodger hat,
so you've been I love it, so all right, give
me the store. You can't read into it too much.

Speaker 5 (22:57):
I'm an avid hat collector.

Speaker 2 (22:59):
Oh so I have we'll go with that.

Speaker 5 (23:01):
Yeah, we'll go with that.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
So I got a Padres and an Angel's had it back,
so I so there's a whole toss up, so.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
We can do the Angels with the padres.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
Everybody hate the padres, yes.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Little brother little brothers.

Speaker 5 (23:15):
Yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, okay, I'll hear you there.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
So you said you had a couple of hats. Yes.

Speaker 6 (23:23):
So one thing that my family does is we want
to travel to every MLB stadium, so we have a
few more left. And so when we go to these stadiums,
I don't usually get like a you know, like a
usual like home hat or something like that. I try
to find something a little bit different, right, and so
obviously daughters white and blue or blue hats, but then
like this one.

Speaker 5 (23:43):
Yes, I didn't go with anything.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
I like it.

Speaker 6 (23:45):
It's a little bit different. So that's kind of why
I like it. And I like doing that at all
the parks that.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
I go to that's how many parks have you been to?

Speaker 5 (23:51):
We've been to? I think twenty seven.

Speaker 6 (23:54):
We got to go to both Texas and Colorado and
Pittsburgh O yah, so twenty six.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
Okay, that's pretty awesome. Awesome. Yeah, my bucket listens to
go to all fifty states, so so that's something I
want to do. So that that's that's pretty awesome. Anybody
else has something that unique or that they can think of?

Speaker 4 (24:12):
I you know, my my goal is to go to
one all of the MLB ballparks one day, but I'm
not quite near as well.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Hopefully one day you guys will be playing and it'll
be free. Yah, they'll pay your accommodation. So yeah, yeah,
so that's pretty cool. So what do you guys? I
know you guys want to win the championship? Any other
personal goals for for anybody, even you? Justin any personal
goals you guys are thinking of? Anything you guys want
to accomplish this year?

Speaker 4 (24:40):
You know, No, no personal goals really for me. You know,
I think just one of my goals being here is
just to make the people around me better, you know,
like if I can, if I can make people around
me better then that can make me better as a
player and a person, and you know, and that just
makes me happy to see other people succeed as well.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
When you're bating north of five hundred.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
About you just I mean nothing to I think, always
to try to improve every day, like the broadcasts and everything.
Like stark even Starky who listens to the broadcast, is
kind of like always giving us feedback. Yes, you know,
you could do this better, you could do that better.
So it's always a kind of you know, not necessarily
fit that to the point, but at least try to
make it more you know, I guess spicy kind of
if that's the right term to put it, Like make

(25:26):
it sound like it's a good game every once in
a while, and try to, you know, add some more
to the story, not just like you know, the topical
stuff I think, you know, most people kind of do,
but kind of dig a little deeper into what we've got.
So like for example, like this today, like I had
no idea that kJ just committed to Augusta.

Speaker 8 (25:42):
So that's another thing.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Be talking about. Yeah, it's pretty much.

Speaker 8 (25:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
So like I said, like I came here to kind
of learn a few things about these guys and kind
of be able to relate that back later when we
do a broadcast later tonight. So and by the way,
I'll be doing color commentary tonight for the game.

Speaker 8 (25:56):
So there we go. Another reason to be out here.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Yeah, and that's a good thing, that relationships that you
build in the bonds. And you said, this is how
many years have you been with the Power.

Speaker 8 (26:05):
This is the first year, this is the first year,
first time ever.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah, excellent, excellent. That's pretty cool, man. I love what
you guys are doing. I hear the fans cheering and whatnot,
and sometimes I'll hear you guys sometimes we will say, yeah,
someone's standing in front of our camera out of the way.
But that's pretty cool that the public just loves the
Palm Springs Power.

Speaker 8 (26:24):
Yeah, I am.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
The retention from the community has been so amazing and
just be able to see it. I think the best
way to kind of just put it is we are
like a major league ball team, yes, but in a
smaller scale. So everything that we do, like the interns
the players do, we're doing it at a smaller scale
of a major league baseball team. So, like you know,
the interns we have for operations that are doing the

(26:46):
field every day. We have the marketing people that is
always trying to get more people from the community to
come out and build on that. We've We've had so
many big events is here, like bark in the Park
for example, last night we had cancer Awareness night.

Speaker 8 (26:58):
Yes, we're gonna have.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
I heard your Someone said the story about their mother.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
Yeah, my mother. She's a breast cancer survivor.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Right.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Yeah, she's been in remission for many years now. So
we just wanted to share that story and be able
to you know, put that forward because obviously cancer is
the second highest cause of deaths in the country behind
cardiovascular disease, right, So we wanted to bring awareness head obviously.
So yeah, that was a personal story I had to
bring up because it's really driven our family for many years.

(27:29):
And now that she's in remission, we're much stronger as
a family together now.

Speaker 8 (27:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
But going back the community, like they've been so nice.
We have so many fans who love to come back.
We get I don't know about these guys, but I
would say like we get recognized almost.

Speaker 8 (27:45):
Everywhere we go.

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Yeah, anytime you wear the PSPs where they're like, oh,
you work for them or you play for them that
kind of thing. And it's always fun to be able
to do that because it kind of brings it into
the smaller scale of what it is like out here. Yeah,
and I'm sure these guys can maybe relate, but it's
like preparing them for the next level when they get
to the pros. They're like, you know, I went through
that on Palm Springs, Like this is what it's like

(28:07):
to be here at the professional level.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
Kind of Yeah, well, we'd love to see them continue
to play out here. I know they want they have
bigger goals and ambitions, but we love having you guys
here in Palm Springs. And and you know, press your
family glad to hear about about your mother. I know
Charlie had shared a story. I think his dad as well. Yes,
my grandmother and my wife's grandmother lost their battle with
breast cancer. So I'm glad they were doing something about

(28:31):
that when it comes to doing that for people with cancer,
So that's always good. Andrew does really good stuff. You
guys do good promotions all year. You know. The one
thing that I get upset about is when someone does
the hit and they get the cheap beer. I'm thinking
to myself, I'm stuck in studio beer Like, someone bring
me a four dollar beer.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
And I'll get you next time. You know, I'll drive
what five minutes to get here to the studio and
bring you on.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
No, we always we bring that up though on the
air so we can encourage people to come to the game.

Speaker 2 (29:01):
Oh, you've encouraged me.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
I'm down, absolutely, absolutely so.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
I just wanted to say thank you guys for coming
in and spending some time with us. I know you
guys got a game to do today you've got to
get to. But it's always good to have the Palm
Springs Power in studio. Once again, as we said all
season long, you can hear every single game at Palm
Springs Power the Palm Springs Power on Fox Sports twelve
seventy eight yem what's the website just in case so
they could see the the schedule.

Speaker 8 (29:29):
Oh, the schedule.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Just look up Palm Springs Power or Palmspringpower baseball dot com.

Speaker 8 (29:34):
You can find the schedule there for the rest of
the season of all the games that we have.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Yeah. Absolutely, and the great promotions. Thank you so much,
gentlemen for coming in. What an amazing show. Looking forward
to continue watching you guys that you guys do your
journey and go off and do that. I remember when I,
like I said, when I worked for the Clippers. It
was a guy that they just picked and I think
his name was Shayis Gillis and Alexandra. I don't know
whatever happened to that guy. I'm not sure, but I

(29:58):
remember when he first came in, and I talk to
that guy. So there's a couple of guys that I've
talked to that yes, right, so, And the thing crazy
thing is he's not even that much bigger than me,
so I'm a midget. But I mean that guy he
can really play some basketball. But once again, thank you
guys for coming in. We certainly appreciate it coming into
Fox Sports Radio and as always, you are listening to

(30:19):
the Coachella Valley Sports Report. I'm your host, Coach B
on Fox Sports Radio Herd in Southern California on Fox
