Speaker 2 (01:12):
I'm excited because I have some gentlemen.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
They had me in the house on their podcast, and
I was so excited about it. I said, I have
to return the favor and I have to make sure
that I bring them out here to Fox Sports twelve
seventy eight m. So, gentlemen, please do me the favor
of introducing yourself to the Fox Sports radio audience.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Hello.

Speaker 5 (01:34):
Everyone, I'm coach Bobby Moras from a Desert Valley Premiere
Football and chair.

Speaker 6 (01:39):
And I am Jarvis Bailey, also with Desert Valley Premiere
Football and Chair.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Excellent. I'm excited to have you gentlemen in.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
And I tell you, Robert if you probably saw it
on the podcast because your wife, when I was on
your podcast, she kept calling you Bobby. I was thinking
to myself, any minute, his name is Roberts was throwing
me off.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Right. I'm sure you probably saw it like he looks confused,
right right?

Speaker 5 (02:00):
Well, I do that for professional purposes only, so I
know if I get a call for Robert, it's serious. Yes, Bobby,
it's you know something, It's not as serious as Robert, So, gotch.

Speaker 2 (02:09):
We do that on purpose, got you, gotcha?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
I looked I probably looked at it confused, as I
did when I was a kid in elementary school and
people looked at me, what was wrong with this boy?
But I wanted to bring you toube gentlemen in. I'm
excited to have you guys here. As we said, this
is the Coachella Valley Sports Report. We're just launching the
program and we're excited when any time, make sure if
you don't catch the show live, make sure you go
to the podcast.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
Search Coachella Valley.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Sports Report on Fox Sports Radio twelve seventy am to
get all the latest news. But let's talk youth football
Desert Valley Premiere. How long have you guys been around?
I know you said you guys are a fairly new program,
but I wouldn't know when I look at all your
social media and all the things that you guys have done.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
Right, So, we've been around for four years and US
is going into our our fourth year of existence. Yeah,
and it was kind of a post COVID thing. COVID
kind of killed off a lot of the organizations here
right in the valley and it was a pretty sad
time for youth football. So as soon as we kind
of got the okay to kind of start rebuilding. We
had some good partners and we hit the ground running

(03:10):
in twenty twenty one, correct, yes, twenty twenty one, and
then we've been going ever since, you know, And the
goal of this program is really to you know, combine
some of the best players out here in the valley
so we can go over the mountain and compete, right,
And that's been the philosophy since day one.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
And I tell people this all the time. Is because
they called me coach B because I coached youth football.
Everyone's a volunteer. Everyone out there is a volunteer. They're
dedicating that time. I remember one time I had a
parent on the sideline that was talking and I said,
I'll talk to you after practice, and then I came
up to him. I said, hey, if you want a volunteer,
we have an application for you to apply. It said, oh,
I can't do that. So yeah, everyone out here is
a volunteer, right. You know, we're doing this the goodness

(03:46):
of our heart. No one's getting paid to do this.
And I'll ask you, coach, why is it, Why are
you so dedicated to this? You do the podcast, you
do the and I know you do it at the
IPAY Solution building. Great building, Love that building. But why
do you do this and why are you so passionate
about youth sports?

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Purpose? That's that's that's probably what it is.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
You know, we all wonder what the key to life
is and and and I believe it's to share information.
And my purpose is to uplift and empower others. And
I know for me and my youth athletic career in
high school, I remember some of the games, some of
the more important games, but what I remember more than

(04:29):
anything is just the relationships I built, some of the
things my coach is instilled in me that I applied
later on in life. And that's exactly what I want
to reciprocate. I want to pay it forward and give
it to the youth, give it to that next generation
and the generation that follows.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Right right, And you guys are doing an amazing job.
And when you say giving back to the youth, you know,
when people are trash and they suck, they become radio
host So just so you know, so that's my journey
and that's what I be. Kay, But tell us a
little bit about this year. It's it's I see you
guys are doing the preseason conditioning.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
How's that all going, are there? You guys getting a
lot of returners.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
We've got some kids out in the in the lobby
that you said is some of the studs of the organization.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Yeah, man, it's great.

Speaker 6 (05:13):
We've we've run a couple different camps with a couple different.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
Facilities out here in the valley.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
Shout out to empowerment, shout out, shout out to Catalyst
Strength and Performance. But yeah, so far, we we just
wrapped up with preseason activities, so we're actually heading into
the season. But it's been a great turnout. We're coming
off back to back championships at the.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
D one level.

Speaker 6 (05:36):
We've actually made it to the Super Bowl three years
in a row, but cashed in and won two years
in a row. So it's an exciting time man. And
and honestly, the success of our program has actually spawned
some other youth programs as well, so it's it's a
real competitive time. It's a very exciting time in the

(05:56):
space of youth tackle football for sure.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I mean, Robert, you were born and raised out here.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
How excited are you to see this level of competition
and everything that's happening out here in the valley.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
Well, you know, it's to me, it's bittersweet because gone
are the days of the neighborhood teams, you know, just everywhere.

Speaker 4 (06:13):
Yeah, but that's when that month was my era. When
I grew up.

Speaker 5 (06:15):
I played with my friends from you know, all the
way junior high, all the way.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Up through high school.

Speaker 5 (06:20):
And I think those days are kind of gone now
just because of the competitive football. I mean, football is
a super competitive sport. So you know, it's bittersweet because
you know, you have to kind of identify if we're
going to build this thing the way we want to,
it's not just going to.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
Be that neighborhood team.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
We got to kind of go out there and try
and find some of the best guys and put bring
them all together, you know, because we're a smaller base
population out here, right, so when we go over the
hill and we're playing the likes of Corona, Marietta, Redlands,
we've got to have some of the top guys to compete.
And that's you know, that's what we're trying to do.
And that's kind of where we're.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
Geared everything definitely, And just to piggyback off what Bobby
was saying, that's That's why we were extremely intentional when
we decided to brand ourselves the way we branded ourselves,
because in a small area like this, things can become
very clicky. You kind of get the crab and the
barrel mentality. So you know, we are Desert Valley Premiere,

(07:14):
and it's all inclusive. It's all encompassing, not Indio, not Lakina,
not Palm Springs, but the whole Coachella Valley. And we
say Desert Valley because we have athletes not only from
all over the Coachella Valley, but even in the surrounding area.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
So we've had.

Speaker 6 (07:33):
Athletes from Marino Valley, from Yucca Valley, from Central you know,
all come through our program at different points in times.
And so we were real intentional about naming ourselves the
way we did because we wanted to make sure that
we were welcoming to anybody, no matter where you grew up,
no matter where you grew up playing or this is

(07:55):
a spot for you.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Absolutely once again, Fox Sports twelve seventy eight m Palm Springs,
we have Desert Valley Premier in studio. Coach Robert Coach Jarvis. Now,
when how how is it looking for you guys? Because
I started a youth program from nothing, and I tell
you it's bloods, wet and tears. And now when you
guys are starting to see the success winning a super
Bowl and and and Junior All America, that's it's some

(08:16):
competition in that league.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
So what is it like?

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Now you guys are starting to see the fruits of
your labor and you're starting to have those wins. And
I'm sure now people are saying, you know what that
team we weren't thinking about. I'm gonna go look over
there now.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
Well, you know what I was saying all the time.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
Number one. They say it comes with a crown, but
it also comes with a scope and a target. So
when you are number one, everyone's gunning after you, and
and you know, it's it's there's there's pros and cons
to it. Honestly, I embrace it all, but it's it's
it's it's just been a wild ride.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
It's just been a very wild ride.

Speaker 6 (08:53):
And I think the early success that we've had is
proof of the it's it's really validation for all the
hard work, all the sacrifice, all the time spent. And
so you know, shout out to everybody that's involved in
the program now. Shout out to everybody that had anything
to do with the program, you know while we were

(09:14):
making our way. But I'm excited for it. Like I say,
it's the success we've enjoyed. It's it's it's tempted other
individuals to go out and start programs and because they say, hey,
well you know what, if they can do it, we
could do it too. And what I would say is
not necessarily, but that's the type of inspiration we want

(09:34):
to bring. We want to inspire others to do great
things as well. So if you feel like it's opening
up another program, hey, there's be honest with you. The
value is growing, right, and no one program can hold
all of the athletes. So you know, we embrace it
all We welcome it all right, It's good.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
It's good when you see the growth and you can
see that happen. So you guys have any so you, like,
like I said, you started post COVID. So you have
some kids in high school? Who are some kids that
have graduated from your program and now are doing some
great things at that high school level?

Speaker 6 (10:07):
Man, quite a few. So you have probably the biggest
one that has come through our program and is now
dominating at the high school level. It's probably mad Rumberg.
He was the.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Elite right of the year last ye.

Speaker 6 (10:23):
Yeah, so he came through our program. There's another young athlete,
he's over at Shadow Hills. Yeah, reef, I'm gonna I
don't I don't even want to say this last night,
I don't want.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
To butcher it.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
I mispronounced my last name, so I totally get it.

Speaker 6 (10:40):
But yeah, like one of one of the great things
about this program. And even as you know, even as
you like released all of the elite athletes, most of
them have played for our program at one point in
time or another. So some may be at other places now,
but most of them got the start or spent a

(11:02):
good a good portion of their formative years with our program.

Speaker 4 (11:06):
And and that's what we want to be, you know.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
We we pride ourselves as being the premier youth program
of the valley where the best come to compete and win.
And I think a lot of what you're seeing now,
both at the high school level and those youth athletes
getting ready to go into high school are reflection of that.
Most of them have come through this program. I've played

(11:30):
for us at one point in time, so it's it's
it's awesome.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
It's a blessing, right, and and and one thing I
talked about Robert when we were at the podcast. One
thing that was unique to me is you were talking
about the rivalry when you were in high school and
how you had you went to your rajah yes, and
then the Coachella Valley And it's an interesting story, you said.
And I know you said schools and and and participation

(11:55):
has changed a little bit, but tell me a little bit.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
About that story. And you said you on the goal
line and people on top of you. I mean that
that rivalries, that's something that people need to know.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Yeah, I mean so I'm old enough to remember when
Coachella Valley didn't have you let people.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
They added stands for.

Speaker 5 (12:13):
That Indio CV game, right, And I can recall, maybe
I think my senior year, we were in a goal
line stand down there by the end zone that had
the fans from Coachella, right. And I can remember getting
like batteries and ice and things thrown from the stands
as I'm getting out of the huddle at US. You know,
just because you know we're we're in hostile territory. Man
comes with it, and with that game. It's just such

(12:33):
a it's such a tradition and.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Even to this day.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
I mean, the Bell game is everything of those two schools,
you know, and that rivalry goes back almost seventy years now,
so it's just something special. If you haven't checked it out,
you definitely need to, even if you're not from Indio Coachella.

Speaker 4 (12:47):
Just the rivalry runs deep.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
And my wife's an Arab, so right that week when
I was, when I was and then I coached at Indio,
so that week was always rough because you know, she
was actually rooting against me.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Yes, as I'm.

Speaker 5 (12:58):
The defensive coordinator for the for the you know, for
the Rajahs, And I used to tell you, really, I
could lose my job if we lose this game, right,
you realize I'm gonna get fired if we lose this game.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
But she didn't care.

Speaker 5 (13:08):
She sat on the other side and she's like, this
is the one game of year I'm gonna root against you.
So those those those rivalries definitely run deep.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Those rivalries are deep. So I love that. I wanted
to leave on that note, but that's that's good to know.

Speaker 3 (13:20):
I mean, that's like I said, I graduated from Downey
High School. And there there's another school in our city.
I still won't say their name. I know they're in
the city of Downey. The city was named after my school.
That's all I've got to say, so I'll just say that.
But good stuff. I absolutely love it. I love you
guys coming in. We're going to bring the young men
in next so we will bring them in.

Speaker 2 (13:39):

Speaker 10 (30:38):
Maldonado it's my first summer with The Palm Springs power
and Tonight i'll be doing the play by play for
a game two of the in The Valley.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
Legends there you.

Speaker 11 (30:44):
Go, Yeah I'm Stephen. BUCKSTON i grew up out of.
Here this is actually my second season with The. POWER
i worked with The Winner league this Past winner as,
well so been here for three. Seasons this is my
first time working with you guys With Fox. Sports, yes
it's been a.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Blast there you.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
Go now the voice, man don't don't try to take my.
Job all of you, guys, so don't try to take
you come in here sounding. Smooth so and then go
ahead and introduce.

Speaker 12 (31:05):
Yourself, Hell I'm Charlie gonzalez And i'm going to be
the public address announcer for tonight's game and The Palm
Strings power on THE. Cusp wher there's seven hundredth franchise
victory and if they get it, tonight it's going to
be a, special special.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
Night, Indeed oh my, goodness seven hundred. Wins that is something,
now one thing THAT i. Love and when we have
the team on, before you guys are just like the.
Players you're looking to get to the next level as,
well and you. Rotate so that's one thing that's, unique
AND i don't think people understand, that is you you
guys are not necessarily doing the same thing every. Night

(31:39):
how exciting is that they'll learn a little bit about
everything about The palm springs.

Speaker 10 (31:42):
POWER i, MEAN i think it's good if you're trying
to get into like the sports business in, general because you,
know you try a little bit of. Everything you, know
do the public announcement maybe you, know, broadcasting maybe not
into it unless you like public addressing the, names you,
know calling out the. Players BUT i mean you get more,
experienced you, know like if you know better what you
call the it'd be a lot easier to apply for
jobs since you have these, skills, Right so it'll be

(32:04):
a lot of help in the, FUTURE i think.

Speaker 11 (32:06):
Absolutely and, yeah it's, honestly like after last, NIGHT i
can officially Say i've done every single job in the.
Stadium the one THING i hadn't done is go to
pick up food for like the postgame. MEALS i actually
have not sold, tickets But i've done just about everything.
ELSE i EVEN i made the schedule for us for

(32:27):
like broadcasting and just being able to sort out the
the innings and and the spots and play by FLIGHT
pa all that and When so when we're running THE,
pscl that we didn't have like the extra couple guys
for the for the Main power broadcast. Days but since

(32:49):
that's all, over since everyone's all in one, group now
we've got the extra couple of, roles and it's it's
nice having the couple extra. Hands AND i just never
like realized how how much work it was going to
be to disperse all those roles evenly while trying to
get everyone a couple of days off here and, there, right.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
And Then charlie explaining THE psel explain that BECAUSE i
know you've articulated to me. Before so there's The Palm Springs,
power and then there's like other teams.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
That play all throughout the. Day SO i, mean you
guys are doing baseball all. Day.

Speaker 12 (33:20):
Yeah so The Power Summer Collegiate league is a comprise
of eleven. Teams The lumberjacks won it this, year and
they play usually on just two, fields but occasionally, three
the main field at around nine, am the hybrid turf
field across the way at eight, thirty and then sometimes
at the beginning and the very end of the season
the high school field which is across the, street and

(33:43):
those teams they play nearly every. Day usually it's six
teams get to play per day at, most and then
the playoff comes. Around each team gets an automatic bid
and there's a buy for the high, seed and then
it continues along the, way and this year the team
with the best record end up winning it. All but
we would have the two guys do the games in

(34:04):
the morning and have one person scoring it on the other,
fields and then have maybe the last, two if they're,
available come in and do the power game that same,
night and then maybe one who worked in the morning
would also. Stick so there's five of. Us we were
able to rotate it. Evenly it's a lot of, work
but it was a lot of fun, too because you
get to broadcast not just over, YouTube on the radio

(34:29):
and also through THE pscl. Phone there's a lot of
things we or you learned how to, do and like
hiccups we encountered along the, way.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
Right and is there something like an aha moment where you,
SAID i didn't think of this because when you, Cause
i'll tell you doing a radio show and running a radio.
Station it's it's a big. Difference so was there something
you think you, thinking how Does andrew do? This And
Andrew starkey is the owner of the, team you think of,
this how does he deal with all of?

Speaker 10 (34:55):
THIS i would you, KNOW i would say maybe trying
to do with the scheduling for THE psco and The,
power BECAUSE i feel, like you, know it could conflict.
Sometimes but then, again they do play in the mornings
and The power play at. Night but there are times
where THE psco players do get the call up and
to The. Power so for, example if they pitched like
maybe a couple of days, before you might have to

(35:16):
like kind of like schedule that around their pitching.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Schedule oh, Wow SO i mean it can be.

Speaker 10 (35:20):
A LITTLE i would say, different only because they do
pitch for their team on THE psl and then maybe
The Palm Streets power doing it in the arm for,
example you. Know but you, KNOW i would say that's
probably like the one of the things That park could
make it a, little you, know difficult to work around
with their pitching schedule and knowing that they pitched right
before coming up, RIGHT i.

Speaker 3 (35:39):
Didn't realize that they can pitch for them and then
they're they're trying to get on the power as, well so.

Speaker 7 (35:43):
It's kind of unique seeing.

Speaker 10 (35:44):
THAT i, mean it's pretty cool though they enjoy doing
it from what being seen, around.

Speaker 2 (35:47):
Right it was THERE aha moment for either to, you.

Speaker 11 (35:50):
GENTLEMEN i, mean, honestly like the ONLY i don't know
if it was as much of AN aha, moment but
there were a couple of times where you just see
something you hadn't seen, before like The power played against
THE Pscl All star team On july.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
Fourth what a. Game what a.

Speaker 11 (36:06):
Game, honestly that was the most Fun i'd ever had
calling a game in my. Life, Right and in the eighth,
inning actually it was a play involving the two guys
we've got waiting for the next. Segment Andrew reevas was
on third base and there was a ball put in.
Play he's staying at third, base And Zach, durham my
color guy for the, night AND i were in the

(36:28):
booth having no idea what's going on because they they
Waived andrew, home and so we're wondering what. HAPPENS i
talked to one of the umpires after the, game AND
i realized that it was called a bock because you're
not allowed to have the you're not allowed to have
the pitcher on the mound at, all not even like
on the, rubber but on the dirt without the. Ball

(36:48):
and they let him get all the way to the
rubber and he's just standing there without the. BALL i
didn't even realize. IT i didn't see that. HAPPEN i
was trying to write some stuff down BECAUSE i thought
the play was. Over but it's it's that kind of
thing where it's just a, wacky, zany just preposterous play
to end an incredible. Game not and but like just

(37:11):
how that game broke, open and how that kind of
top the lid off of a game where The power
were essentially playing the heel in front of a couple thousand.
People they were the bad guys that. Night, really it
was really entertaining to. Watch it was an awesome dynamic to.
See but you just never think you're gonna see that

(37:33):
kind of. Thing AND i, mean it's not every day
THAT i learned something new about. BASEBALL i feel Like
I've i've called a couple hundred, Games i've watched a
million games in my. Life i've been all around it
all the, time AND i almost never have to actually
like learn something, new.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
Right it was a great. Game what about, You, Charlie.

Speaker 12 (37:53):
Well, yeah that PARTICULARLY i thought that play he was
talking about that the third baseman got in the in
the way of him running and you know how they
you can't the catcher can't do that at home plate
when someone's coming. Home so that was my initial. Thought
and THEN i spoke To tyler more after because we
instead of the two usual two man, crew we had
a four umpire crew and he, yeah he told me
it was a. Bock he didn't have the ball on the.

(38:15):
Mound so but that that brought home the tying run
and then the walk off to win at four to,
three and then we had the spectacular fireworks show and
that was something where if it was a, bock it
was very subtle and it WAS i HAD i missed
it as, well, Right and that was the last game
we had with the working. Scoreboard that's going to get
fixed hopefully pretty.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
Soon got you and tell me a little bit about
SO i know you were talking about this on. Air
the power of gotta went out to get into the, playoffs, Right.

Speaker 11 (38:44):
Yeah so the power right, Now i'm pretty sure the
records what nineteen and five officially or is it.

Speaker 12 (38:52):
Five we're at twenty one and five on the, year,
okay twenty one and.

Speaker 11 (38:55):
Five it's the. First this is a team that just
does not. Lose there's been a couple Of staples in
the seat in the past decade or so in The,
valley THE Pscl All Star game against The power being
the best game of the, year which it always. Is
the last couple of years it WENT pscl wins it
in the last, inning then walk. Off last year The

(39:15):
power have A leydening comeback to win at six to
five and then a walk. Off this, year the Other,
Staples Casey, dill does not lose. Games he has something
like it's approaching a nine hundred win percentage with The.

Speaker 4 (39:27):
Power.

Speaker 11 (39:28):
Wow and this is the first year since twenty twenty.
ONE i want to say it was either twenty one
or twenty two that The power lost five games in.
Total so they're sitting at at five losses right. Now
they don't have to win, out but they have to
pretty do pretty close to win out to get the

(39:49):
number one or two seed in THE, cpcl The california
And Premier Collegiate, league which would give them a playoff,
spot and it's not a position that this team has
been and it's a lot of the guys are. Returners Andrew,
revas he'll talk to, him he played with The power last.
Season and then there's a myriad of Guys Mark Kirklan Dalton,
Thomas Mike, Gonzalez Johnny. Young they've all been there for

(40:10):
years and years and, years but this is a spot
that they haven't been. In so it's essentially playing playoff
baseball for the last couple of, weeks.

Speaker 2 (40:19):
Right, right we'll see.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
It so on the, playoffs someone explained to, me BECAUSE
i see on the schedule is it's just two games
for the, playoffs it'll be.

Speaker 11 (40:26):
A three game series as long as The power make.
It it will be a game at home for The,
power and then there should be two games on the.
Road it'll be split Between i'm pretty sure it's split
between who hosts which, game but it will be at
a road site and it'll be a. Doubleheader so let's
say The power win game one and then win game.

(40:47):
Two there's no need to play game. Three but last
season they lost game, one then they Won game two
in a lateening, comeback and Then, noah blythe walked it
off with a home run to win it and win
THE Cpcl championship for the second year in a, row
back to.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
Back so they are going for. Three So i'm excited about.
That so that's good. Stuff tell, ME i know we
were pressed up against the, clock but tell me a
little bit about your your, journey, Gentlemen how did you
guys get?

Speaker 2 (41:12):
HERE i know you're a local. Guy what got you guys?
Here what got you interested in The Palm springs?

Speaker 10 (41:16):
POWER i would say WHEN i was in school At Chico.
State you, KNOW i started writing for the school newspaper
and then covered sports and then kind of click. That you,
KNOW i enjoy being around the games Because i've done, basketball,
softball and. BASEBALL i would say, softless more. Exciting WELL
i wouldn't say more, exciting but there's a lot of
actually going on with like the where they were like
they'd run out the box trying to hit the. Ball

(41:36):
it's pretty pretty wild stuff that happens. There BUT i
would SAY i, enjoy you, know being around the.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
Games it's.

Speaker 10 (41:41):
FUN i grew up playing baseball my whole life. Too
it was just trying to get the confidence to do it.

Speaker 2 (41:47):
Right AND i could tell what you.

Speaker 3 (41:48):
CALL i can tell you played because some of the
things you guys say they framed the pitch or it's above.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
ME i was a basketball and football, Player so and
then what about.

Speaker 1 (41:57):
You i'll keep it.

Speaker 11 (41:57):
SHORT i know we're kind of pressed up against the
CLA i grew up out. HERE i went To, xavier
AND i never had any sort of thought THAT i
would ever be doing any sort of media. THING i
had no idea WHAT i wanted to do out of high.
SCHOOL i was a computer science major going Into college
of The. Desert then calculus kind of broke.

Speaker 2 (42:14):
Me SO i.

Speaker 11 (42:15):
Decided and my coach throughout high school had told me
like every, Day, hey you need to go into some
sort of. Broadcast you need to do something like, that
BECAUSE i wouldn't stop running my mouth right been. There
SO i, decided maybe this whole journalism thing isn't that.
BAD i switched the. DEGREE i went over To Arizona
state's cronkeyed, school did a couple of years over there as,
well AND i didn't even get a chance to like

(42:37):
broadcast games until my last semester or my last year.
THERE i did some. Football one of the better high
school teams out. There Desert mountain covered them all the
way over to their playoff loss in The Open. Division
and THEN i just basically hammered down a bunch of,
hockey a couple of basketball, games and a little bit

(42:57):
of softball here and. There and in my last, SEMESTER
i didn't have anything lined, up so it was kind
of like a PRAYER i send. OUT i looked up
EVERYTHING i can. Find ALL i didn't realize when baseball
jobs came out is like In, September, October. November you
got to hammer those. Applications then we're in like Late
february And i'm looking up stuff AND i find The

(43:20):
power website BECAUSE i, thought, hey The power play games
out In Palm. Springs that would be an easy transition for.
Me SO i email our, Boss Tyler hughes and basically
beg him.

Speaker 2 (43:32):
For the, job right AND i get a phone.

Speaker 11 (43:34):
CALL a couple of weeks, LATER i get the. JOB
i do a summer over. THERE i shoot him in
text again ask IF i could come back for The Winter.
League same, drill ask IF i could come back for this.
Summer and here we. Are it's been an absolute blast
AND i couldn't thank them.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
Enough there you. Go congratulations on. That So i'm an ANTELOPE.
Gcu so we're so we're. Rivals so your brother's a great.

Speaker 3 (43:58):
Guy Cronk, school that's an Amazing i've always envied them
and wonder why we don't have that AT.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
Gcu but The Kroncky school is. Amazing how about, You, Charlie.

Speaker 4 (44:06):
Well, yeah sort of similar To.

Speaker 12 (44:08):
STEVEN i didn't have like the calling for broadcasts right
out of high. School it took me a few more
years and just attacked every OPPORTUNITY i could ONCE i
found my. Passion my first gig was in the fall
of twenty twenty one when stuff reopened in small capacity
after the, pandemic AND i just tried to move up
to a different medium every step of the. Ways FIRST

(44:28):
i started just junior through the, phone was poor audio.
Quality then it was YouTube with like ordinary sound. Equipment
then last summer it was the radio In. Missouri and
here we are, again YouTube simulcast over the. Radio and
SO i just want to keep climbing that ladder and
we'll see where see where it takes.

Speaker 3 (44:46):
Me AND i appreciate And, CHARLIE i know you get
tired of me texting you on game.

Speaker 2 (44:50):
Day i'm always texting, YOU i need, THIS i need.

Speaker 3 (44:52):
That SO i appreciate. You thank you so much for
being there and. Responding, COURSE i certainly appreciate. It you
helped collaborate these. INTERVIEWS i certainly appreciate. It so tonight
we have a game, tonight seven. O'clock who are we playing?

Hi I'm Andrew. Reavis i'm currently going into my graduate
year AT Uc. Riverside i'll be Studying masters and finance over,
there and this is my second summer with The Palm Springs.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
Power so you didn't you didn't have to come far at.
All you coming right over from From. Riverside.

Speaker 13 (50:41):
Yeah SO i still have my house on The. Riverside
it's about an hour, away so not too far at,
all which is. Nice and, uh it is a little
further from my actual hometown Of Thousand, Oaks. California it's
about two and a half hours, away But i'm lucky
THAT i still have my place In, riverside So i'm
able to come out here pretty.

Speaker 2 (50:57):
Easily, there you go and introduce, yourself young.

Speaker 14 (50:59):
Man my name Is noah He minnesotola AND i actually
didn't play college, ball, okay AND i am electrical. ENGINEER
i went trade school From, Westcovina, california AND i just
got the call recently to play With.

Speaker 2 (51:11):
Power did you play high? School, yeah but it was a.

Speaker 14 (51:14):
Bad experience with coaching and the staff didn't really have
a good experience there and kind of ruined my chances
to play college.

Speaker 7 (51:20):
Ball.

Speaker 14 (51:21):
Yeah so THEN i ended up playing here for The
California Winter league or two years of, age AND i
just did the collegiate league AND i stood out with
no college experience as the top, prospect and NOW i
got the call for playing With.

Speaker 2 (51:36):
Power there you.

Speaker 3 (51:37):
GO i had a terrible experience in schools as, well
but it was. TALENT i had, none so no. Talent
so tell me a little bit about The Palm Springs.
Power what have you guys excited? About have you exceeded your?
Expectations have you exceeded your?

Speaker 2 (51:50):
Goals how's it been for? You other than the?

Speaker 13 (51:53):
Heat obviously it's very hot out, here but, yeah so you.

Speaker 2 (51:57):
Have from, thousand it doesn't get that hats had as
it does out.

Speaker 4 (52:00):
Here.

Speaker 13 (52:01):
Yeah, yeah back home and since not hot at. All but,
right so Far i've been out here about maybe a
week and a half so far this, summer and it's been.
Good we got a good group of. Guys we had
a great team last year we ended up winning the.
Championship but, Yeah i'm confident in the guys we, have
AND i know we're getting close to that playoff run
and a few more, games we play a few more
good games and we'll be right there for the.

Speaker 2 (52:21):
Championship, well let me make sure.

Speaker 3 (52:23):
It first of, All i'm glad you survived because last
year you must have been in the fourth Of july
game that was one hundred and twenty four.

Speaker 13 (52:29):
Degrees, Correct, yes that was the first DAY i came.
Out that whole couple of days was the hottest it
was all. Summer apparently it was like over one. Twenty
but while it's, hot like we're able to adjust to
it pretty, quickly like it's not it's.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
Bad but.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
You just, Yes AND i don't know What andrew said
the owner to keep you, here BECAUSE i have from
thousand and it's nice and, cool seventy eighty.

Speaker 2 (52:51):
Degrees i'm surprised you didn't go back.

Speaker 13 (52:53):
HOME i just wanted to get my reps, in get
some of my bats And i'm thankful That starkey was
able to give me an.

Speaker 4 (52:59):
Opera.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
Absolutely and how about, you so this year this is
your first year? Here?

Speaker 3 (53:04):
Correct oh, yes, yes you played The Winter. League it's
a little different temperature than The Winter, league, Right.

Speaker 14 (53:09):
Erry WHEN i came out here for The Summer Collegiate,
LEAGUE i was after the first, GAME i was, like
oh my, god, like there's gonna be a, long month long, season,
Right and then towards the, END i was, Like, okay,
well you, KNOW i got to get ready at Where
i'm going to decide for college IF i get the
opportunity to play or a professional. Ball and Then, casey
manager Of, power gave me the cause that you Want
states Two july. TWENTY i was, like, yeah why? Not

(53:31):
but THEN i realized that it's still going to get
worse than already is now when it comes to the.
Weather but like when my buddy sor right, here you're
just gonna have to adapt to.

Speaker 2 (53:39):
It absolutely. Excuses and what's your hometown, Again West, Covina West.

Speaker 3 (53:42):
Covenu so, yeah that's that's not too far from THE
i as, well so it gets a little warm out
there as. Well so this, season you guys are twenty
one and, Five how are you guys feeling about this?
Year and in that game we talked about. This i'll
ask you two, questions how are you feeling about this?
Season and THEN i was here running the board AND
i heard that fourth Of july. GAME i was biting my. Nails,
Man SO i can only imagine what you guys were

(54:03):
doing as players or did you, say, no this is
what we, Do we're going to get this.

Speaker 13 (54:06):
W, yeah it was definitely a different. Experience, uh there
were we packed out the. House there were a lot of,
fans as we always, love and they're rooting for us
from any one to any, nine and luckily we were
able to give them a really good game on the
fourth Of, july which proceeded with.

Speaker 14 (54:20):
Fireworks so, absolutely how about, YOURSELF i, MEAN i was
on The All, stars SO i was really hoping we
beat The power and so you got the call. Up,
yeah that's WHEN i got the call. Up but it
was a very close, game all to the bottom of
the ninth and there was probably some in my, OPINION
i feel like there was a play that shouldn't have
been called by the, umpires but it, happens is, baseball,

(54:42):
right And, uh, yeah you just can't do anything about.

Speaker 2 (54:44):
It, RIGHT i was biting on my.

Speaker 3 (54:46):
Nail so you guys are now you have The legends,
tonight you beat them, yesterday you have them again tonight
and it was a you guys put a pretty, big
pretty big lead on. Them so to you have a
couple of games we were talking in the last. Second
they're not must, win but you want to win those
going into the. Playoffs what are you guys looking to
do tonight or any adjustments because the one thing about

(55:07):
baseball is it's it's driven by the.

Speaker 2 (55:09):
Pitching whoever's on that mound can.

Speaker 3 (55:11):
Really dictate the way the game, goes do you, Guys
and NOW i ask you, that do you guys come
up and you see a picture and now you plays the,
season you, say, Oh i'm gonna jack this.

Speaker 2 (55:19):
One.

Speaker 13 (55:20):
Yeah so on The, legends we actually, UH i have
some teammates and former teammates that are on that. Team
one of my former teammates coaches, it and then a
couple of my teammates currently are on that. Team SO
i do have some reports on some of the, guys
but it just comes down to seeing what they have
for the, day seeing what we have for the day
and making our adjustments ending by, inning, right because you're

(55:41):
not always going to be at your, best but it's
about what you can do with.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
What you have for that.

Speaker 14 (55:44):
Day, Absolutely, yeah just speeding off what he says is
it's a matter who wants a more game by game you,
KNOW i know we still have a long way to
a playoffs or like towards the end of the season
that we want to become, champs but we still gotta
that that's that's, nothing but we have to get past
the games are upcoming right now before. Anything so we

(56:04):
should just focus on our. Mindset what type of pitching
we're in the, beginning how is the, stats how's his,
numbers where's his? Location and then as innings, progress we'll
start picking up on him and start attacking early and the.

Speaker 2 (56:16):
RUNS i love the. ANSWERS i love the. Answers professional not.

Speaker 3 (56:19):
Me, NOW i gotta ask, you when you guys get
a good hit and you knock it out the, park
what's that bat flip look?

Speaker 2 (56:24):
Like are you guys bat? Flipping are you just? Walking
are you having some? Respect what are we doing?

Speaker 13 (56:29):
Here so usually WHEN i hit a home, RUN i
kind of know WHEN i get, it so. DON'T i
don't bat flip as. Much i'm more just pimpot in
the sense THAT i stand there and take a really slow, trot,
jog whatever you want to call.

Speaker 4 (56:42):
IT i love.

Speaker 13 (56:42):
It YESTERDAY i was fortunate enough to hit a home,
run but with the stadium being pretty large and that
nighttime air and, WIND i didn't know that IF i got,
It so that was just like a normal run out
of the, box.

Speaker 3 (56:54):
Right and that's one thing you say because the stadium
was built by The Anaheim, angels and when they built,
it it's built like a major league. Stadium so when
you knock it out of the, park that's like a
major league home. Run how do you feel about? That
knowing you can jacket out of a major league?

Speaker 13 (57:09):
Stadium it's a it's a pretty good, feeling to be.
HONEST i try to like hold it in and not,
excited but, yeah it's it's always a good feeling to
a home run because it's not it's not an easy.
Game it's not an easy feat to. Have So i'm
always thankful When i'm able to connect with one.

Speaker 2 (57:25):
Like that That you what about? Yourself?

Speaker 14 (57:28):
Me SO i respect the, game, OBVIOUSLY i know pimping.
It everyone wants to do. It you, know you don't
get home runs coming offten now when you got better.
Pitching so, uh typically, me if the other team is
getting a little, rowdy then, Yes i'll start pimping, it
start staring at, them tossing back towards their doug out.
Walk but just keep it more on a professional, standpoint
stare a little, bit get job going. Run think about

(57:51):
two because you may never know it can hit a.

Speaker 4 (57:52):
Bird and then it can come.

Speaker 14 (57:53):
Down you don't know if it's gonna go out or, not,
Right so always thinking, two possibly.

Speaker 4 (57:57):
Three, Right so this.

Speaker 3 (57:58):
Will this will tell you what team THAT I i
love AND i love it when Oh tony hits it
and he just stands there and looks.

Speaker 2 (58:03):
AT i, mean that's WHAT i would.

Speaker 3 (58:04):
Do they would throw the ball at me IF i
played baseball Because i'd probably break dance and IF.

Speaker 2 (58:09):
I hit a home run if that was. Me and
then this is one thing, again.

Speaker 3 (58:12):
This Is Fox sports twelve seven. Am we have the
pump springs power in. Studio one thing THAT i always
think about is like when you have that picture and
it's you against him and you have, history what do
you guys do you guys stare at each? OTHER i,
mean how does?

Speaker 2 (58:26):
That what is that? Like because it's just you two
against each. Other it's not like football or.

Speaker 3 (58:31):
Whatever it's just you two going against each, other and
everybody reacts to what the picture and the hitter.

Speaker 2 (58:35):
Does what is that?

Speaker 3 (58:36):
Like when you guys are looking at each other you
walk do you walk up to him and try to intimidate?
Them what do you guys do in either one of?

Speaker 13 (58:41):
YOU i think it just depends on the relationship you
have with the. Picture like If i'm facing one of my,
teammates old, teammates, whatever AND i have a good relationship with,
him it's gonna be all laughs and like as soon
AS i step in the box and as soon as
he gets in the, mound then we're gonna focus on
the pitch. Itself but if it's more of like a
relationship based on like animosity and things like, that then,

(59:02):
uh it's definitely a different level of. Intensity Like i'll
still have that same, focus but leading up to, that
it's it's a little more of almost like not, anger
but that kind of feeling towards the at, bat like
you want it, right you do want to like beat
him in this.

Speaker 2 (59:16):
Situation was it just? Me or WAS i upset when
The padres hit a? Towny WAS i was so upset
when they did?

Speaker 3 (59:22):
That was it just?

Speaker 2 (59:22):
ME i mean it? Really? Yes so what about? Yourself?
Me So i'm very.

Speaker 14 (59:28):
COMPETITIVE i know they're my, Buddy like you, said a relationship,
wise it could be it can go both, ways but
hats are turned it forward AND i don't know you
And i'm here to play and we can be friends
after the.

Speaker 2 (59:40):
Game but right, now like IT'S i don't know. You
there you.

Speaker 14 (59:43):
Go i'm gonna do WHAT i can to get on,
base hit the. BALL i don't care if you're throwing ninety.
Five my job is to get on base and show Them,
i'm you, know here to prove something on.

Speaker 2 (59:52):
Myself SO i love. It And i'll ask you.

Speaker 3 (59:54):
BOTH i know you, guys you're you're A. Ucr and
Then i'll ask you what are you guys looking to?

Speaker 11 (59:59):
Do?

Speaker 2 (59:59):
Now what are your? Goals what are your? Ambitions is
what's going on with you? Guys?

Speaker 13 (01:00:03):
Next so next Year i'll be playing what could be
my last year of baseball in my. Career So i'm
gonna enjoy that as much AS i Can i'll be
pursuing my master's in, finance and following, That i'll be
looking to go into either, banking like investment banking or asset,
management ideally working my way up to private equity venture
capital down the. Line that's more down the, road more

(01:00:25):
so like four or five six years down the. Line
BUT i do want to be breaking to the finance
market and make a big impact in that.

Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
Sense so you want to be the next one on a.
Buffet it's basically what you're telling this hedge. Funds but
hedge funds and things like.

Speaker 13 (01:00:41):
That with hedge, funds, yep a lot of, investments a
lot of, assets just handling.

Speaker 4 (01:00:45):
THOSE i love.

Speaker 13 (01:00:46):
Numbers i'm really good at, numbers and it's SOMETHING i
pick up pretty. Easily SO i want to leverage that
as much As i'm able to in the.

Speaker 2 (01:00:52):
FUTURE i know a little bit about, that about the
hedge funds and things like, THAT a little. Bit i'm
sure you know a lot more than. Me what about? Yourself?

Speaker 14 (01:00:58):
Me, SO i have opportunities to play college ball right
now SINCE i already got my. DEGREE i got it Last,
october SO i still have my eligibility for college and
Base HOW i did off the summer. League it's going
to determine WHAT i want to do now on pursuing less.

Speaker 2 (01:01:12):
Sport as a.

Speaker 4 (01:01:13):
CAREER i want my.

Speaker 14 (01:01:14):
SHOT i never got the opportunity to do. That so
whatever colleges is going to give me my numbers and
opportunities that could show out just like What i'm doing
here in the, league and to be able to play
for power you, know hopefully you know when it comes draft,
time or play independent ball professionally and have my lestal
engineering as a backup.

Speaker 2 (01:01:30):
Plan.

Speaker 3 (01:01:30):
Right and that's one thing about baseball that's so unique
is BECAUSE i remember WHEN i was in high, school
one of my teachers said he played like minor league
baseball In.

Speaker 2 (01:01:38):
AUSTRALIA i, mean there's baseball all over the world to do.

Speaker 3 (01:01:42):
That you guys interested in going to the minor league
round or is that you want to go in the,
bank you want to take over the.

Speaker 13 (01:01:48):
World playing internationally would definitely be a great. Experience if
good enough opportunity presents, Itself i'll definitely take advantage of.
It but it just depends on Where i'm at by
the end of this next, year BECAUSE i don't want
to set myself too far behind in terms of my professional,
career because those few years after graduate school it's like
hard to make those up, right, right that's a period

(01:02:10):
where you can learn a, lot gain a lot of,
experience and use it for your.

Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
Future so it sounds like you've got a.

Speaker 4 (01:02:16):
PLAY i like.

Speaker 2 (01:02:17):
IT i have to get your. Number you can start
doing my.
