beautiful places in the country. This is Coachella Valley Sports
Reports with your host, Coach B, bringing you the score, stories,
(00:22):
and spotlight moments from the teams and athletes that make
this valley.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Proud, proudly covering these young men and.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Women, all local, all the time, covering the valley. Now,
Coach B.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
Coach B is the man.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Let's get start.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
This is the Coachella Valley Sports Report. I am your host,
Coach B on Fox Sports twelve seventy AM. Heard in
Southern California on Fox Sports twelve seventy AM. I'm heard
in Las Vegas on Fox Sports ninety eight point nine FM,
and as always, we are streaming twenty four to seven
on the iHeartRadio app. Now, if I sound excited, I
(00:59):
am because we have fully and officially launched this thing.
We are here in the Coachella Valley. I am so
happy to be here. For anyone who does not know,
I've been on the Fox Sports radio airways for the
last ten years. I was out in the Inland Empire
and I made the transition over to the Coachella Valley,
(01:22):
and I tell you, I am so excited to be
I almost said something I wasn't supposed to, but the
FCC would not be happy about that, So let me
go ahead and not do that. I want to make
sure that we don't get any fine. I mean, we
just got here Coachella Valley, but I want to say
thank you to everyone in the Coachella Valley that has
(01:45):
really opened their arms to us and been so gracious
to us. We have in studio today one of the
programs where we were in Riverside, they made the track
out to Riverside and that's none other than coach Chris
Johnson from dec Desert Christian Academy. He will be in
studio at the bottom of the hour. He and some
(02:05):
of his players. They are off to a phenomenal season
right now. They are four and undefeated. Four and four
and undefeated. However, you want to say that they have
no als, so they wrote a song about them, say
we don't take we ain't taking no ls. So they'll
be in studio at the bottom of the hour. But
I'm excited about this. We have the top tier legends,
(02:28):
the number one offensive player in studio, and I said, hey,
if we're gonna do this, we got to do something special.
And none other than Jordan Johnson in the house from
Palm Springs High School. He didn't have to go far.
We're in downtown Palm Springs, his high school. I can
walk to his campus from here, so he didn't have
to go far at all to get here to the studio.
(02:49):
So he will be in studio today. But as I'm saying,
I want to say thank you to people who've really
really embraced us. My guy Robert from Desert Elite Showcase
really embraced us, everyone from Xavier Prep and it's just
a plethora of schools. I want to say thank you
to the coaches at Palm Desert High School basketball football
as well. We gave him Coach of the Year, but
(03:11):
they coached our all Star basketball game, so I was
so excited about that. Our guy over at Indio, our
head coach at Indio. The coaches also for at Shadow
Hills girls basketball as well as Palm Desert basketball, and
then we had the Palm Desert baseball coach and then
the Banning baseball coach as well. They coached our All
Star games. They were earlier this year. So now that
(03:32):
I'm on air and we're here, I wanted to make
sure that we say thank you to everyone that has
embraced us. My guy coached Bobby over there at the Blitz.
Now he has the Blitz podcast. He embraced us, brought
us on as well, So I want to say thank you.
But that's enough about me. Let's get back the reason
we're here. It's a Coachella Valley Sports report. We're all
(03:55):
about prep football. I get giddy, I get excited, and
if I just sound like I have too much energy,
you gotta get used to it. I am a high
octane guy. I drink five or six cups of coffee
a day because you know, I have to maintain this energy.
You know what I mean. So I want you guys
to get to know me. As a matter of fact,
I have my cup of coffee sitting right next to
me now and I want to take a sit. But
(04:16):
I you know, I got to make sure I give
you guys this best sports coverage. So once again, I
am coach b We are here on Fox Sports twelve
seventy AM Palm Springs. I'm excited because, as you know,
it's just something about this time of year. I don't
know what it is. It seems like the blades of
grass get a little greener. It seems like you could
(04:36):
just smell the beauty of the grass because it is
prep football time. And I just get so excited, so giddy.
They call me coach b because I coached for years,
I coached youth football, and I'm excited. So what I
want to do is dig a little bit into the
Fox Sports twelve seventy AM Top ten pole your final scores,
(04:58):
and in that pole, oh oh my goodness, has there
been a lot going on. We got some good coverage.
As a matter of fact, Jillian Bee, I want to
say thank you. She's the student reporter at Palm Desert.
She sent us over great coverage that she did when
she covered the game when Palm Palm Desert traveled down
to your kite. But they did fall thirty seven to
twenty one last night in that game, but we've got
(05:19):
some really really good coverage of them as they made
their trip down to Palm Desert. So great, great coverage.
Thank you so much, and I'll tell you right now,
anyone that's out there, if you've got good footage, I
need it. I need it. When people say, hey, coach
b how much coverage or how much content do you
(05:40):
want on your Instagram? I want too much. That's how
much I want. I want too much content. Anything you
got that's good. It's got to be clean now. Now,
if you're gonna collaborate with us, gotta be clean music.
We can't. We can't have the music with the bad words.
That's one thing about getting older. I'm older now. My
birthday now is my age now starts with the five.
(06:01):
So I'm getting kind of old now. And they say,
you know you're getting older when hip hop starts to
offend you. Now, I'm there. I'm there. So but thank
you so much for sharing that content, amazing content. If
you don't know, go onto the social media. Instagram is
at Fox Sports PS. That's at Fox Sports PS. And
thank you to everyone who has liked our page, has
(06:22):
shared content with us, and that play page is just exploding.
I'm just a vessel. I'm just a vessel to highlight
these amazing student athletes. So let me get back to
where we're at. We're at the top ten. So Palm
Desert did fall thirty seven to twenty one to Ya Kaipa.
Palm Springs got that big w And I know our
(06:43):
guy Jordan Johnson's going to be feeling it when he
comes up in here. I mean, is he having an
amazing season or what I'll tell you if I could
play football like that? Oh my goodness, that young man
is on fire and I can't wait for him to
come and Stey to talk a little bit about that
contest where Palm Springs won forty nine to forty two
(07:05):
against Colton Lakenta. What you talk about a nail bier
La Kenta pulls off the win. They went twenty two
to twenty one. What a contest there. Shadow Hills defeated
Desert Hot Springs forty four. The ten Rancho Mirache falls
to Ramona twenty eight to twenty one. I tell you Ramona,
(07:26):
as I said, I spent ten years in the Inland
Empire covering Ramona. That program. They've really turned that program around.
Coach Mashinski, he's really got it going out there. Xavier
Prep gets the w against Cathedral City as they win
a score of forty eight to six and Desert Christian Academy.
As I said, therefore, in undefeated four and zero, as
(07:49):
they pull off the win last night fifty eight to
seven against San Jacento Valley Academy, Banning gets the W.
Another nail bier. I don't know what was going on
last night, but another nail bier as Banny gets the W.
They win a score of twenty one to twenty over Paris.
(08:10):
Yucca Valley fell to Chafey a score of twenty eight
to twenty one. So Yucker Valley did fall to Chafey,
and then you had Coachella Valley fell to Palaverta Valley
a score of forty to twenty four, and that rounds
out your top ten. And then also you had non
(08:30):
ranked but got the W twenty nine Palms wins a
score of forty one to twelve. So again, if you
have not had a chance to go to the Instagram,
if you haven't had a chance to give us a follow,
by all means, please do go do that because every
week we will give you the top ten rankings. And
(08:52):
if you haven't done it, I just gave you the scores,
but I just want to make sure running down for
it again Palm Desert number one, Palm Springs ranked number two,
Keita's ranked number three, Shadow Hills ranked number four, Rancho
Mirage is ranked number five, Xavier Prep ranked number six,
Desert Christian seven, Banning eight, Yuka Valley is nine, and
Coachella Valley is ten. And if as you get to
(09:14):
know me, I know I'm new to market, new to
the area. But as you get to know me, you
will realize that you know, my firstborn was my baby girl,
and I always want to make sure that we give
the same love to the young ladies as we give
to young men. So we don't just stop at tackle football.
Oh no, no, no no. We also have the Coachella
(09:36):
Valley flag football rankings. So if you go to Fox
Sports PS on Instagram, you can go on there join
the conversation. I tell you guys have contacted me and
you've let me know. You know when I got it right,
and I've gotten it wrong, and you know I'm not perfect,
so I will get it wrong from time to time.
My wife reminds me that I'm not perfect, so I
(09:57):
will get it wrong from time to time. But when
you look at the top five for flag football, you
have number five. Oh my goodness, my music was going off. Mean,
let mean, I was like, what's going on there? So
when you look at the top five for girls flag football,
shadow Hills, and I'll tell you they are they are
really having shadow Hills number four in the boys side
(10:18):
and their number one on the girls side. As this
was posted on eight twenty six, and I know they've
played some games since they got some w's. They were
eleven and three at the time, and then Palm Desert
is excuse me, Palm Desert was ranked number two. There
were four and three at the time. Xavier Prep was
ranked number three. There were four and four. You had
Desert Hot Springs was ranked number four and they were
two to one, and then Indio was ranked number five.
(10:42):
And that is none other than your Coachella Valley Flag
football rankings. So let us know once again, this is
Coach b Fox Sports twelve seventy a m. We're gonna
take a quick commercial break, and once we come back
from commercial, we're gonna have the young man. Like I said,
he's out there doing his thing, and that's none other
(11:04):
than the number one ranked player in the top ten
the Coachella Valley Shooting the top eleven thing and still
thinking top ten. I'm still thinking the top ten for
the football rankings, but the top eleven, top tier, the
top tier rankings. My goodness, I just I'm so excited.
I got so much energy. Top tier ranking, the top eleven,
(11:26):
and he was ranked number one on the offensive side.
So we will have none other than the running back
from Palm Springs High School, and that's going to be
Jordan Johnson. He will be joining us right after the
break here on Fox Sports twelve seventy So you're listening

Today, this is the Coachella Valley Sports Report. I am
your host coach be on Fox Sports Radio Herd in
Southern California on Fox Sports twelve seventy AM and in
Laus Vegas on Fox Sports ninety eight point nine FM.
And as always, we are streaming twenty four to seven
on the iHeartRadio app. Jordan Johnson in studio. You are
(15:03):
having a year, young man, and I always talk about this,
the Legend's top tier ranking. You were number one on offense.
Tell us a little bit about that. How excited were
you about that when you saw that you were the guy.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
I don't think I've ever been ranked the one before
for offense. It's it's kind of hard as running back,
you know, quarterback. That's usually a quarterback thing. You know,
they usually get the ones just being the leader of
offense and stuff. But it was definitely a blessing, especially
when Cole, to see both of us get number one
on there. It was a blessing for sure to have
us both at the number one at the top from
being from the same spot too. It meant a lot
(15:37):
to us and everybody around.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Us too, right, And you talk about that so your teammate,
and it's unique because you guys go back to youth
football because you sent me the picture when you guys,
what is that like when you and your guys you
what youth team did you play for?
Speaker 4 (15:51):
Yeah, we played for the for Palm Strings Indians. It's
like right across the street from where the school is
that there's like a little baseball park over there, and
that's where we grew up. Bishop Miller his father, he
was our coach, and so we've all just grew up
around each other and we've just been having fun since
we stepped foot on the.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Field, right right, So tell me about this season. How
is it going for you? You came in with with
with high expectations and I know we're only a couple
of games into the season, but how what are your
thoughts about the season. How do you feel about everything
that's going on for you?
Speaker 4 (16:22):
I think we're moving along good. We everything that's like new,
it's uh, it's moving along really well. The ball has
been rolling. We've had some nail biers, but we've also
had a lot of a lot of people don't realize
is playing like away games against teams that are good
at their homes, those are those are hard to win, right,
(16:42):
just especially with Colton and Grand Terns for example. Colon
they have a great quarterback, that's a great program, good school,
and so coming into people's homes like that and winning
those games even when they come down to the last second.
Usually away games they do usually come down to those
you know, that last touchdown of that last place. So
we we've been on the road, been winning games, and
I think that's the best feeling too. Has been able
(17:02):
to win at other people's homes, right, so when because
it's a really it's really hard to win at Palm
Springs for sure, and we know that so to so
just to be able to cover those games when we
go away, that that's been the most fulfilling thing for
us for sure.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Right. And you guys haven't gotten into your league yet. Yeah,
but when you think about that being three and oh
to start the season, uh, three and undefeated, So what
what what goes that you have? And I'm sure you
guys want to have a great non conference and then
when when league, so you guys have started.
Speaker 4 (17:32):
Yeah, yeah, so we wanted to really take it one
game at a time for sure, and we our main
goal at the beginning was to come out five and
oh from preseason because every year Palm Springs is known
for having a good preseason typically, you know, we like
to have tough games in the preseason to be able
to be prepared for league. And so that's a great
(17:53):
look to be able if we can come out undefeated
for preseason, that that would be a kind of like
a wake up call that you know, oh yeah that
we could play. We could definitely play. So then we'll
be able to roll right in ready for league.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
And you guys, like you said, you've played so so far,
you have Grand Terrast, Coachella Valley Colts and those are
games that you want. And then the one against a
Stirstorm that was a that was a scrimmage right.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
No, No, that was that was a week zero game.
That was a that was at home too.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
That was said three four and am thinking about you guys.
I know he's like, give me all my my dug.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Now, yeah, it's because Lakina they do it. They do
it different. I think they're three and oh right now,
because I think that first week they don't know.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
People don't player.
Speaker 4 (18:33):
Yeah, so we're four and no right now.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
So you're four and oh and then you guys got
laking To and you said that you're going to be
at laking To. You, well, you have your Kaipa next
week at home.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
And then we're at first league game. We're at Lakinta.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
You're at Lakita. Then you have Shadow at home, you
have Xavier at home, you have Palm Desert away, and
then you have Rancho Mirage. That's a gauntlet of a schedule.
Are you Are you guys ready for that?
Speaker 4 (18:55):
And l Q and Shadow, the l Q and Palm
Desert excuse me, those are their fan bases are definitely
some melt. So those that's why those away games that
we had in this preseason, I think we'll be ready
for those two for sure, just being able to play
at those stadiums. You know, l Q and a Puma,
they are definitely known for having us just some passionate
you know people in the in the crowd. So those
(19:18):
are the exciting games.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Absolutely, I'm looking forward to seeing that now. You know
you we always do the uh the get some background
information for the players before they come in. Yeah, now,
there's something on here I can't confirm because you said
you you cooked burgers really well, but but you didn't
bring any in. You know, this gut that I have
has to be maintained. So what is it that got
(19:39):
you into cooking? What was that about?
Speaker 4 (19:41):
Yeah, So my family's actually from the south and uh
whereout in Texas? First, okay, Longview, Texas. It's like kind
of ways out from Dallas. It's it's like a little
small town in uh In, Texas. And then my grandfather
they're from uh In. My mom's family they're from they're
from Kansas. So okay, so yeah, we we guy some
cooks in the family and so yeah, and then my
(20:02):
dad went to colinary school and he's been a chef
for many years. So this is one of the things
that kind of like picked up and it's almost like
an obligation at least just to be able to cook
some good food. So yeah, I try to do what
I can. You know, I'm not the best at it,
but I try to compete.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
You got you get you can you can survive? Yeah,
there you got. Yeah. Funny thing is I was in
Kansas City before, and the barbecue is completely different out there.
Because you know, I'm thinking of k C. Masterpiece. I'm
thinking they're gonna be all about the saw. They were
about the smoke and all that. So it's a completely
different barbecue.
Speaker 4 (20:31):
And it's like typical to like like really like it's
almost like a competition. Like yeah, like having like the
best smoker, having the best like you know, logs and
stuff just to be able and coal and like all that.
Just everything has to be like, you know, top notch
to just be able to have a and so yeah,
it's really like to competing almost. And my grandpa he's
(20:51):
very well at it. You know, a lot of people
ask him for food and stuff like that. So yeah,
it's a it's definitely something that we have holds a
certain standard.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
Yeah, it's in your bones. Remember being out there and
asking the guy for barbecue saw. I thought he was
gonna slap me. So I was like, you know what,
I'll just hate it as is. I'll just go ahead
and do this. So but one thing that I always
tip my cap to with with, uh, you know, when
I was in high school, if I'm looking at your GPA,
you said you you maintained a three point or above
like all four years I was in school. You probably
couldn't add all four years up for me to get
(21:19):
a GPA. Yeah, because you know, school just wasn't for me.
I was there for the social life. I wasn't there
to learn. But talk to me about that. How difficult
is that? I mean, you were a man in demand,
you're a you're a star athlete, and to keep those
grades up. How important is that to you?
Speaker 4 (21:35):
Yeah, it's super important to me. It's it's kind of
just like it, like you said, it is easy when
you come into high school. It's easy to get lost
in those discretions and stuff like that, and a lot
of people they kind of like kind of overlooking and
and think like, you know, oh it's easy to do
stuff like that, But it's it's really not. Because a
lot of people say school first. But as as an
athlete and in the president, you know, I want to
(21:57):
be an athlete first. You know, I just want to
play those games. And they'll take time just to be
able to put everything into my sport and my craft.
But you know, you really got to take time away
from those from you know, the things that you want
to do to have those accolades. And I take a
lot of pride in it because there's actually schools that
have came to the school like good like top end
ones like Stanford cal has reached out to the school
(22:19):
and those are and those are top, top notch schools, right,
And when people look at me, I want them to
be able to see, you know that the people around me,
like my parents, they're very intelligent as well. And you know,
look when people look at me and like, uh, being
the athlete that doesn't have those intelligence, I don't want
to have that look on me, just because I want
(22:40):
to have that that intelligent look for my peers as
well and people that came before me. So I try
to be a well rounded individual on the field and
off as well.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
And that's important because you know, you're upper classman, and
I'm sure your coaching staff looks at you to the
mold and help groom the underclass. Yeah, is that something
that that that you take with pride? Now now you're
and it's like, now she just did those four years
go fast? Or what? Yeah? Yeah yeah they did?
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah. But yeah, like you said,
with the underclassman, we have a lot of underclassmen who
came from unfortunate situations and stuff like that, and that's
just how life is. And so you know, some things
just happen in life to where you know, grades and
stuff like that might not be as well. And so
I try to set that example that you know, how
(23:27):
people look at you really does affect, like, you know,
being like a I always I always say this to
all my underclassmen, you know, being a unintelligent individual, like
regardless of who you are, you can be a top athlete,
it's not a good look on you. It's just people
look at you a certain way, you know, and football
is not here forever. Regardless, You're not gonna be a
(23:48):
fifty year old running the back in the NFL. It's
just not gonna happen. So you know, when you get
to that point, you want to be a smart, a
smart individual. You know, it's just a good look for
everybody that's around you, you know, being having a low IQ
and just not speaking well and stuff like that. Just
it's not a good look. And especially when you come
from an area like that, whereas rough you know, you
want to be that standout person that have the smarts
(24:09):
and stuff like that. So I try to appreciate some
my underclassmen as well.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
I tell you you're you're you've inspired being And once
again we're talking to Jordan Johnson, the running back from
Palm Springs High School. The man. Now you know you
inspired me, and I understand what you're saying. First of all,
when you know you know you didn't have to take
shots at me. I am fifty. You know I couldn't
play football when I was fifteen, and I sure couldn't
(24:33):
pay a fifty. But it's okay, it's okay, I get it.
You know, even the.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
Way I play now, you know, just as passionate as
I play, I don't even think I'll be able to
play when I'm thirty. Yes, yes, as I run the ball,
you know, it's just yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
You know, here's the thing that as you get older,
your brain still tells you you can do it, and
then your body says slow down, now, slow down. But

lot of people have heard of it. But like you, say,

that is none other than Jordan Johnson in studio. And
it's funny he's name. He has the name of two
of the greatest basketball players to ever ever play. You

Like Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan. I mean that is it's
an incredible name right there. I absolutely love that. But

please do us the privilege of introducing yourself to The
Fox Sports radio.
Speaker 6 (30:04):
Audience hello, One Chris, johnson head football coach At Desert
Christian academy's blessing to be.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Here it is a blessing to have you in, Studio.
Coach WHEN i was still on In, riverside you guys
made the drive out. There you've played at the collegiate,
level you played at the professional. Level what is it
about football that you love so? Much coach growing, boys the.
Men we talk about it all the time with our coaching. Staff.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
Man it's the opportunity to change them in their young,
lives help them to be godly men when they grow.
Up i've been doing it now for twenty nine. Years
absolutely love.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
It tell me a little bit about your season and
how excited you. Are you guys are now four and,
zero AND i know we talked to you at the
media day yes before the season, started and you were
passionate about this season and all the things you wanted to.
DO i know we still have a long way to.
Go still a long. Season ten games in the regular,
season so you still have six to. Go but are
(30:54):
you hitting your early season objectives and? Goals, yes.
Speaker 6 (30:58):
Sir we want to come out of preseason three and
zero and then start, out LIKE i told the, boys
with our first game yesterday was the first opportunity and elite.
Opportunity so we want to repeat as league. Champions Coach
Anthony linebonnet staffter the great job last, year so we're
gonna keep that legacy going TO.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Dca there you, go and you, know and that's early to.
Start you guys are already knee deep in. League and
again we're talking about. Yesterday we're talking About Desert Christian.
Academy and you had a big win, yesterday fifty eight to.
Seven that's always good when it's a league opponent that
you can slap them around like. That but you know
one THING i want to talk about your freshman, Quarterback, yes,
(31:35):
sir my, goodness nine for ten for passing two hundred
and fifteen, yards not, one not, two not, three but
five touchdowns and he had zero. Interceptions, yes, sir tell
me about. That i'm A Pete carroll. Disciple. Bro it's
all about the. Ball on the, defense you take it
away and score. It on. Offense you.
Speaker 6 (31:56):
Protected we got a thing that we do like we
try not to throw a ball all, around even in,
practice you know WHAT i, mean from drill to. Drill
we want to hold onto the ball and hand it
to the next.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Person.
Speaker 6 (32:05):
Right he did an amazing job last year and all year,
long he's been doing a great job protecting the. Football
you can't. Win we turn the ball.
Speaker 2 (32:11):
Over, absolutely and you know you in your gallo your
you had a he had six catches for one hundred
and eighty. YARDS i, mean just talk to me when
you're out. There AND i know when preseason starts you
have a vision of what you want to, do but
when you see your players execute. It as a, Coach
i've always wanted to notice about. It, coach do you
ever think to, yourself we put into work and is
(32:33):
it an expectation that you're, Thinking, no we did the.
Work this is what it should look.
Speaker 6 (32:38):
Like, oh one hundred, percent coach B, yes where you
gained confidence at? Right you gained confidence are putting the work.
In so our boys worked hard From january all the way.
THROUGH i took the job In November. December they got
in the weight, room they did the seven on seven,
passings they worked hard all. Year they did everything we
asked them to. Do, so, yeah one hundred.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Percent we expected and that was kind of a late
start for. You were you surprised how the players embrace
you or was it a matter of fact that you,
said where you want to? Go i've. Been i've been
at the collegiate level at a high. LEVEL i played
professional at a high. Level is that is it easier
for a coach when you can go because people always
talk about, This Like Phil. Jackson they said when he
(33:16):
got To, lakers it was, easy easier because he already.
Won and it's one of those things because you've been,
there it's easier to, say, HEY i know what it.
Speaker 6 (33:22):
Takes, Well i'm a firm believer that you can't do
it by. Yourself so just think about my coaching. Staff
Henry hodges o line, Right Hazu's pozzo senior is my linebacker.
Coach George thomas is my wide receiver. Coach Ernie ariola
who is AT, cv is my old. Coordinator Raal rozales
is my my running back. Coach and THEN i have
(33:43):
A Moys's moran who's my d line. Coach SO i
got a great group of men to coach. Them so,
man it's one hundred percent it's been easier because of, them.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
Right. Yeah and one of the things too That i've
got To i've got to tip my cap to is
is your support staff at the. School you got your
athletic Director, matt and then your Other matt.
Speaker 6 (34:02):
That's our finance. Guy, yes then we have the best
leadership around Man kirk And Debbie. Scott my goal WHEN
i came TO dc nine years, Ago i'd been in
a Private christian school In. Santaell you're talking about doing
it BEFORE i won a state. Championship there have over
twenty five kids put in, college.
Speaker 2 (34:16):
So the kids know. That so you got a. RESUME
i have a resume.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
Exactly that makes it a little bit, easier, Right but
there's nothing like. Leadership all things rise and fall with.
Leadership And kirk And Debbie scott are, amazing. Man we're
doing great. Things anyone out there want to get involved WITH,
dca let us. Know we got a forty two million
project going. On we're looking for people that want to
be involved with great. Kids we have great kids and
great family.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Coach and that's one thing THAT i love because when
you guys came out To riverside last, year you were
doing The Coachella valley. Showcase and you, know it's the
one thing that even WHEN i and my, wife she
came out with, me and she even said, it there's
something special about that school in that. Campus you guys
are tiny but mighty, yes, sir and everyone seems so.
(34:58):
Passionate tell me about how blessed are you to be
a part OF dca and what brought you from SANT i,
mean some people call it Southern. CALIFORNIA i Called San Diego.
Paradise but what brought you from because you went To
San Diego? State but what brought you From San diego
to the? DESERT?
Speaker 6 (35:15):
Yep The Christal SCHOOL i was at for twenty years shut,
Down SO i came out With Matta. DREWIS i had
a choice to go To indiana and be ahead of,
schools OR i could come out here and handle. Discipline
and AFTER i met with our Leadership, Timebbie Debbie, Scott Kirk,
Scott Renee, Lowin Matt. Garrison right at the, time we
Had Tyler Jakoba is another guy that was handing our.
FINANCES i, mean absolutely amazing. People you know what it's, Like,
(35:38):
man you're gonna go to, work you might as well
work with great. People great people then you meet with.
Them our founders are still, Around dave And Julie. Fulton
they have grandkids on the. Team Cat scott of bearing
a little bit.
Speaker 2 (35:52):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (35:52):
Right Debbie scott is her parents started the, School so
it was SOMETHING i had been looking. For small town
feel great athletes out here in the. Valley we're really
trying to build it up but that's everyone that's. Involved
it's not just. Me everyone wants to build it. Up
So i'm really excited about what's.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Happening and you said a name that that everyone. Know It's.
POZZOS i know the brother is Playing division one football,
now but the younger brother is coming. ALONG i didn't
realize his dad was on your. Staff, yes they are
a football. Family legacy is, real. Bro, yes, yes talk
to me some of the. PLAYS i know you have
some young men out in the lobby that are. Waiting,
(36:29):
Yes and what are the players you brought with you
WHOM i should Say Marl pozzos is.
Speaker 6 (36:33):
One he scored another pick, six so he has two
touchdowns on a year on a deeper side of the.
BALL i Have kevin out. There kevin is our big
freshman offensive. Lineman he got a stately last big. Boy, yes,
YES i love them, right big. Boy we got our
Quarterback Mario gallo is out. There then we have our,
Receiver Judah. Garrison i'll tell you about he was ranked
thirty in the state and picks shift in the.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
Country and and one THING i gotta, SAY i gotta
stop doing that coach with when we were at media
day this is you are. Promoter, yes and that's the
one thing THAT i. Like and, coach you have those
stats to. Memorize he, said, hey be you gotta know
this and this and, this and that's WHAT i love
about your. Passion and when we did this and when
we want and no disrespect to any coach out, there
we'll get them all. In BUT i knew AND i
(37:15):
was going to get a first coach. IN i wanted
to have you in because you made the trip down the,
riverside SO i wanted to make sure that we brought
you in. Here but that's WHAT i. Love And i'll
tell you as being a, former you, know absolute athlete
that wasn't. Good But i've been around programs AND i
and you know there are some coaches just on his
passionate they're there for a. Check and when you have
a coach that is passionate about, this that is a
(37:37):
blessing to those. Athletes, yes and that's one of those
things is is your mission to get them out into
the next. Level they're going to.
Speaker 6 (37:45):
COLLEGE i just Told Nathaniel, girl who's an amazing wide
receiver running, back he played running back last. Night Because
Cas scott was heard cast the other guy that's here with.
Us but it's not an. Option, Bro these boys are
going to college right with or without. School, Right i'm without.
Football So i'm already working with investors who believe in
our kids that whether they get football scholarships or, not
(38:06):
they want invest in the kid to go to. School
it's called princes and princesses that become kings and. Queens
that's what we're trying to do AT. Dc our kids
they're going they're going to. College it's not an.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Option, Right that's, awesome and and and those are the
things that THAT i just. Loved it was it's. Somebody
i'll ask you. THIS a lot of times people have
mentors that'll do, that Like Steve. Curry it's so. Funny
everyone thinks That Phil. Jackson THEN i bring him up,
Again oh that was his. Mentor, no it was the
coach At San antonio that invested in, Him Greg, popovich
that showed. Him there's always someone that shows you the.
(38:37):
Way was there a coach that did that for?
Speaker 6 (38:39):
You and there were there were three to. Four one
is from out, Here Dan armstrong And lakington was my
high school football. Coach, okay, Right John king was my
high school basketball. Coach my junior, year coach b the
man took his shoes off his feet because my mom
couldn't afford shoes and gave them to.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Me and that's WHAT i. Do you, Know it's all
about the.
Speaker 6 (38:58):
Kids and the third was a guy by name Of
Dan Stolee, barker who's my spiritual. Mentor WHEN i start At,
HORIZON i never forget. This and any young coach out, there,
remember kids don't care how much do you, know until
they know how much you. CARE i had just finished
playing in THE nfl AND i had all these great
THINGS i wanted to do on a football, field and he, Said,
chris until they know that you love them, unconditionally it
don't matter what you know football.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Wise and that's how we run our. Program that's our.
Kids and we have Coach johnson once again FROM dca and.
Studio you make me think THAT i can go out
there and be a benchwarmer, again come, on let's. Go
but that is so important AND i just love to see.
That And i've always SAID i had a buddy years
ago WHEN i was working this is maybe twenty years.
AGO i was working at A sprint and he, said
when you have a. Manager you have to have a
(39:39):
manager that you want to run through a fire, for
or a manager you want to push in the. Fire,
yes and you want to have those athletes because when
you love on them like, that do you think they
go above and beyond their abilities and they just put
it all out there for.
Speaker 6 (39:51):
YOU i say one thing when we come watch our,
KIDS i don't know if they're going to catch the.
BALL i don't know if we're gonna winn to. Lose
there's one THING i guarantee they. Do they're gonna run
around and give full effort and they're gonna hit me.
People so, yeah leadership.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Matters there you, go and and anything else you want
to talk about on the, season, COACH i know we're
almost pressed up against the, Clock but any other expectations
we're going to bring the young men into the next,
segment any other things you want to put out.
Speaker 6 (40:13):
There one hundred, percent, man we're. Trying we're trying to
do big things AT. Dca our goal this year to
win a league, championship small SCHOOL cif, championship and the
big dream from day one has been to win a
small school state.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
Championship we got a long ways to. Go but that's our.
Dream anyone that wants to be a part of, that
we welcome. It we're. Growing there you, go, there you,
go and and you have you have the coaching staff
to do, it And i'm excited to see how far
you all can. Go it's going to be. Great you

him the greatest receiving running back in the history of the.

about your school is your athletic. Director as soon as
that came, out he, said, hey you need to promote.
THIS i need you to get this out, there and
we did. That how amazing was that for you to
get selected to That All Star? Game it was.

THEN i get a text from my parents saying That
i've been selected to playing That All Star. Game and
it was like, Amazing AND i just was on the
phone with them for like half an hour just talking about,
it and it was.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
Great and it's In, texas, right, yeah you're gonna play
In jerry's. World when is that?
Speaker 8 (48:36):
Game It's january, Fifth.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
January, fifth so that's a big time. Game and then
one of the things you, said you play multiple. Sports
what all sports do you?
Speaker 8 (48:44):
PLAY i play, football, soccer and men's, volleyball.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
Which now you're keep in mind WHEN i ask you this,
question it's a loaded. Question your coaches, here a couple
of coaches, here what's your favorite? Sport? Football, okay what is?
It about football that you love so.
Speaker 8 (48:58):
MUCH i just love everything About it's just the only
sport where you can go and hit someone full speed
without getting in.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
Trouble so, well it. Depends, now you, know WHEN i
was a, kid so you went on the. KICKOFFS i,
mean they used to love the head. Hunt you can't
do that. Anymore now you can't do, that the blind,
side the. Cleaders they got rid of. That but but you,
know but you love the violence of, football.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Right, yeah it's.
Speaker 2 (49:22):
Fun, okay, Okay so what got you in the?
Speaker 8 (49:25):
Football my parents. Did all my brothers played football starting
our sixth grade. Year we weren't allowed to play tackle
football before. Then so starting sixth grade, YEAR i started,
playing And i've been playing ever.
Speaker 4 (49:36):
Since?
Speaker 2 (49:36):
Gotcha? Gotcha and you said you're looking for a college
to commit. To when you do, COMMIT i need you
to come here To Fox Sports radio and let everybody
know what school you're going to commit. To you got is?
Speaker 8 (49:46):
That?
Speaker 2 (49:46):
Okay that's, okay all, RIGHT i gotta, Come LIKE i,
said the show's being, recorded SO i want to make sure,
so and then we'll bring the next young man. Up,
now Now i'll ask you your dad played professional? Basketball?
Uh is is he like heartbroken that you. Did do
you play basketball?
Speaker 7 (50:03):
Too?
Speaker 2 (50:05):
Okay and then pulled Pulling mike up a little bit for.
You so you play basketball? Too so your dad might be.
Listening what's what's your favorite?
Speaker 4 (50:11):
Sport that's a tough, ONE i, mean.
Speaker 9 (50:17):
Because dad might be listening, honestly each, Season like When
i'm in football, season football my favorite. Sport bastball season
basketball my favorite. Sport right right, NOW i would, say
have to.
Speaker 2 (50:28):
Football, okay because it's football. Season. Right so so when
you come, home does dad, say, hey make sure there's
no injuries because he's your coaching basketball, too is? Right,
yes he, said, hey make sure you don't lose your?
Footwork does he does he stay on you like?
Speaker 7 (50:41):
That?
Speaker 9 (50:41):
Yeah he always makes me go get shots up and
go dribble the, ball you, know.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
And you'll, say, YEAH i just played the football. Game
but he still makes you gonna get some shots. Up
so you can tell what what? What what sport he
loves for? Sure but tell me a little bit interesting
the fact you play three sports as? Well so what
sports do you?
Speaker 4 (50:59):
Do you play, football, basketball and?
Speaker 2 (51:01):
Baseball, Okay so which when you say you like right
now because you're in season you like football the. Most that's.
Good and you think that you're UNDERSIZED a, WELL i
don't think. SO i don't think you're undersized at. All
but you said your biggest accomplishment is being ranked fifty
third in the class of twenty twenty eight In. California
so that means that you can. Ball, yes how did
(51:22):
you feel when you saw?
Speaker 4 (51:23):
That it was really?
Speaker 9 (51:24):
Cool, well one of my friends just pulled it up
and we started checking my stats and just started falling
up with. That and then after the season we were
just like looking at prep zone and you just saw
my name up, there AND i was, like it's pretty
cool and and and.
Speaker 2 (51:37):
You, think because people and this is WHAT i always tell.
PEOPLE i, mean is Donnav it Was clepepper who said
that he played for The Minnesota vikings and he went
to a small college and this is. True it doesn't
matter where you. Go if you can, ball they will
find it Was, clepepper, Right, coach it Was. Colepepper and
do you feel that way that if you, ball they're
gonna find? You, yes, yes there you. Go so, so
(51:58):
SO i wanted to ask you what are your what
is your goal for this?
Speaker 9 (52:01):
Season my goal for this season is like for the,
team we just all went, away say, If and that's
like a personal goal to like getting a ring before
we leave high school and just getting the most like
recognition out of this season as. Possible and, yeah.
Speaker 2 (52:20):
And you're a, senior, right sophomore you're a. Sophomore, oh my,

even have to play. Football i'm sure they came and
(53:16):

there and play. Football but what made you so excited about?
FOOTBALL i, mean being six, too you can't coach.
Speaker 10 (53:22):
That, yeah, yeah, YEAH i mean since a young, age
my first sport was actually, soccer and before THAT i
didn't do.
Speaker 5 (53:30):
Anything and my friend actually got me into.
Speaker 10 (53:32):
Football and then ever SINCE i first came to the first,
practice the coach came up to me and gave me
a hug and, said please tell me you're on this. Team.
Right so when that, HAPPENED i just fell in love
with the. Sport you, know you.
Speaker 2 (53:45):
Fell in love with it until you went from football to. Football.
Yeah do you still play soccer or just all? Football?
Now is that the only sport that you're? Playing are?
You are you doing anything else?
Speaker 5 (53:56):

Speaker 2 (53:57):
Playing, Okay and you said your biggest accomplishment it's going
to A christian. School why is it so important for
you to go to A christian.
