Speaker 3 (00:37):
This is the Coachella Valley Sports Report. I am your host,
Coach B on Fox Sports Radio, heard in Southern California
on Fox Sports twelve to seventy AM and in Las
Vegas on Fox Sports ninety eight point nine FM. And
it's always We are streaming twenty four to seven on
the iHeartRadio app. And we've got to get right down
(00:58):
to it because we have a jam pack show today.
We have calling in today head coach of Palm Desert Volleyball,
Coach Walker will be calling in shortly. She had mom
duties today, she couldn't make it in studio, but she
was so gracious to send in her Palm Desert Volleyball team.
(01:19):
So we're excited to have those young ladies in studio today.
So they will be coming in and also Shadow Hills
Flag Football. So you know, last week it was National
Daughter's Week, so a big shout out to my daughter Brianna.
So it's it's girl power week. So we're gonna have
the young ladies call come in and represent what they
(01:42):
do out there on the on the field. So I
know Coach Walker will be calling in soon and I
want to make sure that we get her all set up.
So we are looking forward to hearing her on the
line and talk about what she's doing for this exceptional
season of volleyball. She is when you look at the pole,
(02:03):
if you get a chance, you want to make sure
you go to Instagram, go to Instagram, follow us at
Fox Sports PS. And we did our first initial Coachella
Valley Volleyball Volleyball pole and if I told you that
thing blew up, it would be an understatement because that pole,
(02:27):
oh my goodness, that pole was big. Just to give
you a quick breakdown of what we talked about when
we looked at that pole, and again we're looking at
the Coachella Valley Volleyball Pole and this was our initial ranking.
And on that pole we had ranked number ten, Rancho
Mirage ranked number nine. We had Shadow Heels rank number eight.
(02:52):
We had Banning ranked number seven. We had Desert Christian
ranked number six. We had Valley and ranked number five.
We had Indio and number four. We had Coachella Valley
and number three. We had Palm Springs and at number two,
Palm Desert and Xavier Prep was ranked number one. This
(03:14):
is one thing I'm excited about. If you have not heard,
We're gonna do the inaugural Inland Inland Valley. Oh that's
something I used to do. Now I'm in the Coachella Valley.
Excuse me. CV. Don't get upset. Don't come for me
like they say nowadays, what the kids do. Don't you
don't have to come for me. We're gonna do the
inaugural Coachella Valley Volleyball Volleyball All Star Game. It looks
(03:38):
like we have a call.
Speaker 1 (03:39):
Someone's calling in on the Fox Sports Radio Celebrity Hotline.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Caller, caller, are you there on the Fox Sports Radio
Celebrity Hotline? Hi, there you go. My apologies we're still
getting used to everything that's set up out there. But coach,
please just do us the pleasure of introducing yourself to
the Fox Sports Radio audience.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
Sure. Yes, my name is Melissa Walker. I'm the head
varsity coach over at Palm Desert High School.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Excellent, And coach, you had some mom duties today, right
I do.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
I'm currently at a soccer game.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
Yes, excellent. And that's for your baby girl.
Speaker 5 (04:18):
I am.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
Yep, she's five years old. Bailey's out here playing soccer
and having a blast. Luckily, the weather is not that bad. Right,
that's nice.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Right, it was a little drizzled this morning, but thank
god that that has cleared itself up. So we're glad
we have your young ladies in studio today and you
have some outstanding young ladies representing Palm Desert volleyball. But
tell us a little bit about your season. You guys
are having a phenomenal season.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Coach, Yeah, thank you. We're doing a really good job.
Speaker 6 (04:48):
You know.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
I think we lost I believe nine seniors last year,
so we were pretty senior heavy last year, and so
to be able to come in with a lot of
new additions to the varsity level and they're doing, They're
really stepping up. You know, I think our senior leadership
this year especially is super super vital, and they're all
(05:10):
five of those girls are doing such a great job,
and you know, we're battling, we're taking it one one
game at a time, and we're just we're getting it
out there.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
So yeah, absolutely, coach, tell me, what are some of
the biggest highlights for you and your team this season.
I know you just said you had to rebuild because
you lost a lot of seniors, But what's been some
of the biggest highlights for your team this season?
Speaker 4 (05:31):
So, I mean, I would say, you know, really welcoming
the underclassmen, right, the seniors really helping take that over.
And I think for me personally, it's nice to finally
see this is my fourth year being at Planazar High School,
so this is my whole freshman class that I brought
in when I first started. So you know, to now
see them growing and doing such a great job all together,
(05:52):
this whole program is now I can I feel comfortable
being like this is my program, you know, I mean,
we're we started this from the ground up release years
ago and really just trying to like level it all
out and you know, seeing the girls just shine and battle.
I mean we had a battle the third that against
Palm Springs the other night, and you know, to really
see them step up, all of them, and having a
(06:13):
freshman on the team, you know, a starting and a
sophomore starting on the team. It's just we're super young,
you know, and so to see them out there battling
is great.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
And that's one thing that I've talked with coaches before.
Now you have players when you're all they know as
a high school coach, is that something where you've built
a culture and now it's it's in the beginning you
had to teach culture, but now they've been with you
four years. It's something that has helped you and now
you're seeing the fruits of your labor where now you
(06:43):
know you've done the work for the last four years
and you're all these these players now.
Speaker 4 (06:47):
Know yes, yeah, I'm totally seeing you know, it all
come together and they know what we expect, they know
our expectations, they know what we we do at Palm
Desert High School. You know, everyone's representing it really well.
And to be able to see that is great, you know,
and the leadership and everybody just kind of having everyone's back,
you know, Like my whole coaching staff is amazing. We
(07:08):
have some kids that has played for my sister and
I years past, so it's kind of cool to come
full circle and be now seeing them co coaching next
to us, you know. And I think that helps because
everybody is on the same page. All three levels are
on the same page expectation wise, So that's that's crucial,
you know, to be able to have all those other
(07:28):
freshmen and JV levels at the same same you know,
way a flow of things, you know.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
Right, And I'd ask you, what would you say, how
would you describe the identity of your team this year?
What what would you lean on and say? This is
what this team is known for.
Speaker 4 (07:42):
So I think this team definitely is known for never
giving up.
Speaker 7 (07:45):
You know.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
They are ones that well you you can't underestimate them.
They definitely have so many surprises up their sleeves. I mean,
they surprised me so much too, and I just never
you never know what to expect. Everything's so, you know,
don't leave it up in the air, because these girls
will They'll end up doing something, you know, and it
(08:06):
makes it so fun. I think That's what makes every
game interesting and fun, is that you never know who's
going to show up, who's going to have their night,
and they're all super supportive of one another. I think
that our family goals together has really blossomed. I think
last night they had a team bonding, you know, and
they did that on their own and every single girl
showed up and just things like that. I think they're
(08:27):
just that's don't underestimate them. That's what I would say.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
That's awesome. Once again, we have Coach Walker on the line,
head Girls of volleyball coach at Palm Desert High School. Now, coach,
I always like to ask this what players they've been
with you now four years? What players have surprised you
and stepped up? What their performance are, their leadership? Is
there any player that you're thinking, Wow, I'm so glad
this young lady has been with me all these years,
and I'm surprised that she actually, you know, took that
(08:53):
culture and just is running with it.
Speaker 6 (08:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
No, I think you know, my starting setter for four
years has been Gianna John and he's been with me
since a freshman on varsity and so she started the
program with me and she's definitely stepped up and she's
taken that leadership role and you see her, you know,
just talking and she's a totally different kid. And every
single year she's been so important as a setter on
(09:17):
the court, but then just to lead that all of
the girls, you know, and really take them under her wing.
I think she has done a great job. I think
Savannah Gardner, all my seniors have done a great job,
but these two particular, Savannah Gardner, you know, doing a
good job. She was with us on jv as a
freshman and then we moved her up as a sophomore
on varsity and you know, just this powerful kid that
(09:39):
just really have a huge influence and I think that
that's what makes our team really, you know, get going,
you know. So it really is nice on the floor
to have those kids that have been there for four years.
Speaker 3 (09:50):
It sounds good. And what are some of your goals
for the rest of the season. I know league is
always the goal, and for that in their playoff competition,
what are the goals for the seat?
Speaker 4 (10:01):
I think just keeping this culture. Obviously to win, like
you said, you know, obviously we want to be queens
of the court after Monday and night and I think
that's going to be a great game. Both groups are
really strong, I think overall for this season, and I've
already seen it, you know, but I want it to
continue as just these girls being sisters. You know, they're
really got each other's back, They're really competing together, and
(10:24):
they know how to communicate with each other without there
being any animosity or any like sassiness. I think they're
just they're so strong and powerful. And each one of
these twelve players I have on varsity this year, they're
all crucial, you know, They're all huge competitors and they're all,
you know, go getters when it comes down to it,
you know absolutely.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
And when you talk about a big matchup, you're talking
about none other than September twenty ninth, where you have
a big matchup against Xavier Prep. And then you have
a game against Lakita Rancham Mirage, Shadow Hills, Palm Springs
and another one against Xavier Prep. Now you know another thing, coach,
we want to talk about. You were so gracious. We're
going to do the inaugural Coachella Valley Volleyball Classic. We're excited.
(11:08):
Can we announce that you are going to contribute?
Speaker 4 (11:11):
Coach Yeah, no, that'll be so excited. I'm so excited.
I've been coaching for twenty years now and so to
be able to bring something like that to the valley,
I'm so excited to be part of it, and you know,
really represent so I think that's great.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Yeah, excellent. We're looking forward to and that, of course
is going to be on November fifteenth. We will do
the Coachella Valley Volleyball Classic. It is going to be
the best young ladies in all of the valley. It
will be you taking on Bailey, the coach at at
Xavier Prep. So you guys can talk about the game
when you guys meet on the twenty ninth.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Yeah sounds great.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
And I know you got mommy duties out there. You
have to take care of your daughter in her soccer match,
so I'll let you get back to that, coach, But
thank you so much for calling in. Congratulations on the season,
and we will be watching that big matchup with you
guys on Monday night.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Great, thank you so much for having me.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Absolutely, you have a wonderful day, all right you tube
by bye. Thank you. And that was none other than
Coach Walker, head girls volleyball coach at Palm Desert High School.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
There you go. Did you ever cheer Benny because you
came up and you gave a vote? I love it.
Speaker 8 (13:23):
Yeah, I'm really loud. I'm uh no, keep going, I'm
really loud. So I've been playing on VARSI for the
last three years.
Speaker 9 (13:33):
I play a lib So I'm that's high energy position,
you know, like just really out there.
Speaker 8 (13:39):
We give high energy on our side.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
I love it now, the the libero because you know,
my age starts with the five, so I'm old. So
libero that position. You guys can do. You can explain
that to me. You can float around anywhere.
Speaker 8 (13:52):
Right, yeah, so I can float around anywhere.
Speaker 9 (13:54):
I My job is to just keep the ball off
the ground, like high risk plays, I mean, like back there,
just like really digging the ball anywhere.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
And you say one of your biggest challenges is staying
consistent while you're undefeated in league. So you're standing on business, yes.
Speaker 8 (14:11):
Yes, yes, we're standing on business.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (14:14):
I feel like our challenges are like just really staying
consistent in what we are and like just being in
league right now, Like it's it's it's a lot of pressure.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Absolutely. I could imagine. And you've been on varsity since
your your sophomore year, since your sophomore year. So what
grade are you in now? I'm a senior, you're a senior.
So did that go fast?
Speaker 8 (14:36):
Yes?
Speaker 9 (14:37):
It really did go fast. It really is like a
just like a blink in your eye.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
Yes, yes, So thank you so much for coming in,
young lady. We're gonna be watching you, and I know
you guys got that big game against Xavier coming up.
Any shout out she wants to give before you step down,
coach Melissa, There you go, There you go. You can
say mom and dad or do you have siblings?
Speaker 8 (15:02):
Yes, I have two older sisters.
Speaker 3 (15:03):
There you go, okay, so give them shoutouts. Yeah, all right,
thank you so much for coming in. Thank you, and
we'll bring the next young lady up. Go ahead, and
please introduce yourself to the Fox Sports Radio audience.
Speaker 10 (15:15):
Hi.
Speaker 11 (15:16):
I'm Serene and I play in middle as the varsity.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
Okay, excellent. So when you you started playing in the
sixth grade? What got you involved in playing volleyball?
Speaker 11 (15:26):
My mom really wanted me to try out volleyball, and
so I went to a few summer camps at DSVC
Desert Sports Center, and I really liked it and I
stuck with it all the way through high school.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
So what are some of your goals for the season.
Speaker 11 (15:39):
Some of my goals for this season are to stay
really consistent and maintain our undefeated record in league.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Okay, so are you guys? Are you ready for this
big game coming up? We don't know bulletin board material
because I don't want Coach Walker getting upset with me.
But what are you both excited about about this game?
And we're talking about your man against Xavier Prep. What
are some of your goals for that or what are
your thoughts about that game?
Speaker 11 (16:05):
Yeah, we're really excited to play Xavier on Monday home.
The crowd is going to be really crazy, and we're
really focused on our side of the court maintaining our energy,
and we're really excited to have a really good game.
Speaker 3 (16:17):
Excellent. But I'm gonna be looking forward to your young ladies.
I can't wait to see you guys out there. Anything
you want to say before you go, any shoutouts or anything.
Speaker 11 (16:24):
Come support us on Monday against our game at Xavier.
Speaker 3 (16:27):
I love it, I love it. Congratulates young lady, and
who do we have coming up next.
Speaker 12 (16:32):
Hi, I'm Gianna Joan and I'm the setter on the
Palm Desert team.
Speaker 3 (16:35):
Okay, now I'm gonna ask you questions just about your season,
because when you came in, you and you were about
to business, you like, hey, I need to know, so
I love it. So tell me a little bit about
your season. What are you most excited about.
Speaker 12 (16:47):
I'm really excited for Monday to play Xavier. Our season
has been going really well. We are focused on saying
mentally tough in every game and right now we just
have a really good bond together and we're just staying
really consistent, strong on the court.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
And you're a senior as well. Yes, now you've been
you said you've been starting since you a setter, since
you are a freshman. Yes, oh wow, explain to me
for I mean, this isn't This isn't the question for me.
Of course I know everything about sports, but for someone
who doesn't knows sports, I'm asking for a friend, explain
to me what a setter is. So, I mean, this
is not for me, This is not a question for me.
(17:21):
So explain to me what.
Speaker 12 (17:22):
Is this cutter is both on defense and offense, just
running the court. Setting all the hitters, just making like
just running the court altogether, setting everybody up so they
can hit the ball and we can just run plays. Basically,
I'm on defense and offense both.
Speaker 3 (17:37):
So I'll ask you this. When you're setting and you
set it for someone and you see it coming, you
know they're about to spike and you're about to win
that match in his game over, Yeah, you ever laugh
to yourself and say I feel bad for them it.
Speaker 12 (17:50):
Yeah, Like sometimes I'm going up there like setting people
up and I'm just like, yeah, like no, this is
going to be a great hit. Like I'm just like
ready and I have to like know who to set
and where to put the ball. So it's just kind
of about being smart and placing it where I know
who's on fire and who's gonna be ready to hit
and spike everything.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Was there a big moment this year where you were
like that's what I'm talking about?
Speaker 8 (18:10):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 12 (18:11):
When we played previous teams, I'm always just like, yeah,
I know this is gonna be a great hit. Whenever
I'm running somebody on the.
Speaker 3 (18:17):
Court, Okay, excellently. Any shout out you want to give
out before before before you go, I know you're first
team All de l But any shot out you want
to give before.
Speaker 12 (18:27):
Just a shout out to my mom, thank you for
always supporting me.
Speaker 3 (18:29):
There you go, Now what those questions? Okay? Yes, okay,
I just want to make sure. Yeah, she came in
and standing on business. So I love it. I love it.
Congratulations on your season. Congratulations. We'll bring our next young
lady up. Who do we have coming up?
Speaker 10 (18:42):
Hi?
Speaker 13 (18:42):
My name is Savannah Gardner?
Speaker 3 (18:44):
Excellent. So Savannah, tell me a little bit about yourself.
You started, you played soccer and then what so I
love to ask soccer players of this. Do you think
that helps because they say that soccer gives you great
hand eye coordination, do you think that has helped you
translate on the volleyball court, just having that discipline, like
what eyes that make it quick moves?
Speaker 12 (19:04):
No?
Speaker 8 (19:04):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 13 (19:05):
It also pertains to like your feet as well, because
you always have to have quick feet on the court,
especially for my position as a middle blocker. You're constantly
jumping the entire time and you have no brakes until
you get rotated off, So you definitely have to have
that hand eye coordination, especially when you're blocking or trying
to find your setters when you're trying to be like
when you're about to hit, so.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
The middle blocker, so you're in the front.
Speaker 8 (19:27):
Row correct, right, like square in the middle.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
Okay, So when someone comes up and they think they're
gonna spike it, what does it feel like when you
send it back to them?
Speaker 13 (19:34):
It is literally the best feeling, especially like I don't
think you understand how like amazing it feels to just
like the ball just goes straight down or like even
into their face, like no offense. But it is just
like it's so amazing. And then when you turn around,
you have such a great support system, like with all
of my friends being on the team, and like my
team is just so hype no matter what.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Okay, So, was there a moment this year that you
got one and you and you game.
Speaker 13 (20:01):
Yes, when we recently played Palm Springs on Wednesday and
we all had some crazy blocks and we were head
tapping people left and right. It was just such a
great feeling because my team played so.
Speaker 8 (20:12):
Great that day.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
There you go, excellent. Well, congratulations on the season. We're
gonna be looking out for you for the rest of
the season to see how you guys get it. Thank
you all right, and we have one more lady. Young
lady come up named after one of the greatest basketball
players that ever walked the face of the earth. Go
ahead and introduce yours that. My name is Jordan, okay,
and your last name is trust and Root Okay, okay,
(20:35):
So it's easy to root for you right there, you go.
I love it. I love the Dave Jordan, So talk
to me. You've been playing this game since you were
in the sixth grade? Oh, go ahead.
Speaker 12 (20:44):
Oh.
Speaker 14 (20:45):
I was just gonna say, I grew up playing a
lot of sports, and then as soon as I got
in sixth grade, I found volleyball and I just stuck
with it, and that's what I've been doing since then.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
What was it about volleyball that made you just get
rid of everything?
Speaker 14 (20:55):
I think I don't know. I feel like when you
find your sport, it kind of like clicks and because
I played the basketball soccer like, and volleyball just really
stuck with me. And I just love like the team
part of it. It's such like a team sport.
Speaker 8 (21:06):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (21:07):
And what position do you play it? I'm also a
set You're a setter. So with that is there? Do
you love. Do you laugh when you know that you're
about to get the ball up and you're gonna get
it to maybe what is it Savannah? And then when
you when you know you're gonna hit her, are you
thinking it's it's it's game?
Speaker 14 (21:22):
Oh, it's game over, as ston as the man against the.
Speaker 8 (21:24):
Ball is game?
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Yes? Yes, excellent? So what are your goals for the season?
What do you look at to accomplish?
Speaker 14 (21:29):
I think our goal is to just really stay focused
in league and to just keep pushing and take it
all the way to Cif there.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
You go, congratulations, I know, And I'll ask all the
young ladies because a lot of seniors graduated last year, right,
so anybody can come up and answer this. And now
you guys are all seniors, so now you're the upper
classman and that's a lot to carry. Do you guys
think that you guys are going to take the tours further?
And you guys can carry because you've been with coach
for four years now, and you guys know and this
(21:56):
is the only coach you had.
Speaker 13 (21:58):
Correct, So Coach Melissa did start coaching for Palm Desert
our freshman year, so she's been there for us like
every single year that we have been playing on the court,
and especially last year we went third round in cif
which is the furthest that anyone in the Desert has
gone last year, so it's definitely really nice to have
that good like support team.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
With her excellent. So do you guys think so? You
went third round last year? So have you guys set
the goal to go all the way this year?
Speaker 13 (22:25):
Yeah, especially because we know that our team is more

gonna have the Shadow Heels Flag football team come in.
(22:54):

Speaker 1 (23:23):
The Herd with Colin Cowherd weekdays from nine am to noon,
Heard throughout the Coachella Valley, Fox Sports, twelve seventy am.
Palm Springs, this is the Coachella Valley Sports Report on
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Let's do this. This is the Coachella Valley Sports Report.
I am your host, Coach B on Fox Sports Radio.
Heard in Southern California, Fox Sports twelve seventy am and
I'm heard in Las Vegas on Fox Sports ninety eight
point nine FM, and as always, we are streaming twenty
four to seven on the I Heart Radio app. I'm
excited we have one of the powers in the Coachella
(23:58):
Valley and Flag Football in studio. Coach, do me the
privilege of introducing yourself to the Fox Sport Radio audience.
Speaker 15 (24:05):
Hi, my name is Coach Keith coach Keith.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
So and you are the head coach for the Shadow
Hills girls flag football team, and we have your team
in studio as well. But tell me a little bit
about your season. How excited are you and coach? When
you make sure you come up onto that mic so
our audience can hear you, how excited are you about
this season and what you guys are doing out there
on that football field.
Speaker 15 (24:27):
I was very excited. It's a little sad. Could we
get to the end of it though, But we got
some big things on the horizon. So playoffice right around
the corner. So we're super excited.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Now CIF has just recently sanctioned the flat football I
think two or three years ago. But can you believe
the growth. I mean, young ladies are getting college scholarships now.
My daughter my two So I have three kids. I
have two boys and a girl. My daughter was the
older she was a cheerleader and all that, but my
boys played football. I wish she could have had flag
football when she was in high school. I mean, this
(24:57):
sport is blowing up. Yes, it's on the horizon.
Speaker 15 (25:01):
Excuse me more girls, It's gonna be a number one
girls sport in high school in the next ten years.
I honestly believe that stuff right there. We had some
seniors last year who tried out for the first year
and they were missing it. Grateful right now. So yeah,
I think girls flag football is there. We're gonna take
over softball, over basketball.
Speaker 3 (25:19):
It's there. You can play all year long, so that's
probably why. Yes, Yes, And then you were at the
Rams Jubilee.
Speaker 15 (25:26):
Yep, talk to Rams. You believe it was our second
time going. Last year we had three games. This year
we had two games. It was nice to see Desert
Hot Springs out there too, repping for the desert. So yeah,
the Rams are probably the leting NFL organization that's behind
girls flag football.
Speaker 3 (25:42):
They do a lot for girls flag right, And then
tell me a little bit about your season and how
well you guys are doing. Was that something I know
every year every coach says, yeah, we want to win
the league and see, but I mean, you guys are
above and beyond pulling away. I mean, what a season
you're having.
Speaker 15 (25:59):
Well, we started it, honestly, we started the first day
of all season in April. So these girls play trivel
flag football. They was out there in Orange County. They
were out there in the summertime, five am every single morning,
and you can see the results right now. So we're
getting a lot out of it because we put a
lot into it.
Speaker 3 (26:19):
Yes, And what are some of the most memorable highlights
for this season for you, coach? It's got to be
a time when you know, you had the preseason, you
guys were out there practicing. Was there a moment where
it all clicked you said, this is going to be
a special season.
Speaker 15 (26:33):
Honestly, the first game of the season, we went against
the Division two runner up from last year, and honestly,
it was a game we should have won. So we
left that game knowing that, man, this group right here
can be real special out the gate and we lose
by a touchdown to one of the highest ranked teams
in the state.
Speaker 3 (26:50):
Wow. Yeah, Wow, that's pretty good. And what is your
identity for this season? And some teams are defensive power,
offensive power? What would you say is your identity for
this season?
Speaker 15 (27:00):
If you look out leagues, that's we're defensive powerhouse. Okay,
nobody has scored on us in league.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Okay, lead with defense, okay.
Speaker 15 (27:09):
And in the office, is there dere a powerhouse by themselves?
But the defense is whorse at okay.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
And then you brought some young ladies with you. So
who all did you bring with you, cause we'll bring
them up as well.
Speaker 15 (27:19):
Okay, Well, first off, we have a Lissa. We have
a Lissa, Vanessa, Caitlin, BeO, and.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
Wally okay, and we'll have the first young lady. Come
on up, introduce yourself to the Fox Sports Radio audience.
Speaker 16 (27:34):
Hi, I'm a Lissa Martinez and I'm a linebacker.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
Okay, you're a linebacker. So what got you excited about
playing football? Fairly new sport? But what got you excited
about playing football?
Speaker 8 (27:44):
I don't know.
Speaker 16 (27:44):
It was like a new sport and I thought it'd
be fun to try out.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Do you have any siblings or cousins that played?
Speaker 10 (27:48):
No?
Speaker 3 (27:49):
No, okay, So what's so? Tell me about this season?
How great has this season been for you? And is
there a personal highlight for you this season?
Speaker 16 (27:58):
This season has been really good.
Speaker 10 (27:59):
We've been put in the work all summer and we're
a family, so that's how we win most of our games.
And a personal highlight for me is I reached my
goal of hitting one hundred tackles.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
Wow? And what great are you in?
Speaker 16 (28:11):
I'm a senior and.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
You're a senior. Okay, so are you excited this is
your senior year to are you looking to go deep
in playoffs and leave it all out there on the field.
Speaker 16 (28:19):
Yes, I'm looking to go deep in playoffs.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
There you go. Okay, congratulations young lady. But in your
name again, Alyssa Martinez. Congratulations And she's a linebacker.
Speaker 7 (28:29):
You know.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
I will actually one more thing. Who is your favorite
linebacker of all time? So this is what I would say.
You gotta look him up. This is gonna be your
homework assignment. Look up ray Lewis. Look up Ray Lewis.
So I know that's why I'm older, but but but
Ray Ray is the guy. So the youtubeer Ray Lewis,
Ray Lewis.
Speaker 15 (28:47):
I'm a home I'm gonna say Ricky Jackson.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
Okay, there you go, There you go, and we'll bring
the next young lady of come on and introduce yourself
to the Fox Sports Radio audience.
Speaker 5 (28:56):
I am sid Loly Forgost, so I go by Lally
and I'm a wide receiver in a safety.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Okay, So you're a wire receiver, so I'll ask you,
since you're a wire receiver in a safety, what do
you like to do more? Do you like to catch
a touchdown pass or do you like to snatch a
pass away as an interception and laugh at the Receiver's
what's more fulfilling to you?
Speaker 5 (29:15):
I feel like pick six is more fulfilling because it's
it's a touchdown and an interception, so combined, there you go.
Speaker 3 (29:23):
So what are your goals for Are you a senior? Yes? Okay,
So what are your goals for the season? It's your
last last hoorah.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
My goal is to reach two thousand receiving yards, hopefully
in the next few games, and I hope to just
you know, have a great time the rest of the
time with my underclassmen.
Speaker 3 (29:40):
Well, let me ask you this, how many yards do
you have so far?
Speaker 5 (29:43):
And now they have one thousand, six hundred.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
She's standing on business gou She knows her stats. She knows.
So I'll tell you this. When I play high school football,
I'll tell you have one thousand, six hundred more receiving
yards than I ever did because this was my position
sitting on the bench. So congratulate, young lady. Congratulations, and
we'll break the next young lady up. I always say this, coach,
be nice to your bench warmers because they might end
(30:07):
up on Fox Sports Radio one day. And that's what
I did. So, young lady, go and we may have
made that bike a little too high, but young lady,
go ahead and introduce yourself to and you can pull
it down if you need to pull your Go ahead
and introduce yourself to the Fox Sports I know we
had a little high, right, go ahead and introduce yourself
to the Fox Sports radio audience.
Speaker 11 (30:24):
I'm Annabels and I'm one of the quarterbacks and a
wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (30:28):
Okay, QB and a wide receiver. So do you like
do you prefer throwing the touchdown pass or catching the
touchdown pass?
Speaker 16 (30:36):
I think throwing them.
Speaker 15 (30:37):
I like doing not better.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
How many quarterbacks do you guys run with two? Two?
So when you guys do that, So since you guys
both have a quarterback, is that something an advantage because
the defense you can go out and and split out
in motion and do kind of do you guys do
all like trickery?
Speaker 16 (30:53):
Yeah, we always do, like dual quarterback place.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Oh that's pretty good. That's so you've run it a
complicated offense, coach, we have.
Speaker 6 (31:00):
We have a complicated offense.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Yeah, we keep the defense guests in every single play.
I got it. I got it. So what are you
What are your goals for the season.
Speaker 16 (31:11):
Some of my goals is to be more accurate with
my throwing and be more consistent.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
Excellent. Actually, what congratulations young lady, the congratulations your season.
Who we have coming up next?
Speaker 12 (31:22):
Ye?
Speaker 3 (31:23):
Introduce yourself to the Fox Sports radio audience.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
My name is Vanessa Monica.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Okay, and what position do you play?
Speaker 2 (31:31):
I play a wide receiver, safety and the other quarterback.
Speaker 3 (31:34):
And you gotta just come up on the mic. I
know you can. You can hold it like that. Yeah,
just yeah, just swing it up. There you go, There
you go. We had to adjust the mic. So tell
me a little bit about your Yeah, you can just
hold on to it like you go.

What are you most excited about for this season?
Speaker 2 (31:48):
I'm most excited to see how far we get in playoffs.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
And are you're a senior as well? Correct, you're a sophomore. Okay,
so you out there balling, So that's pretty cool. So
what made you want to play QB?
Speaker 2 (31:59):
I think going into the season, I've known Keith for
a while, so knowing that coming into the team and
having the opportunity to play quarterback, and I've played it before.
I knew that I kind of wanted to go.
Speaker 6 (32:10):
On that path.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
So you play quarterback in another position? Correct?
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Yes, I play safety and I also play wide receiver.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
Oh wow, so you could do just about everything?
Speaker 6 (32:18):
Right?
Speaker 11 (32:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (32:18):
There you go? Are you you knowing everything? Do you
sell the tickets to when people get there? And all that?
But tell me what's what's your favorite moment this season
on the field?
Speaker 2 (32:27):
I think scoring touchdowns with our team, and like our
celebrations I think are like my favorite part. And like
Keith always says, barbecue chicken.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
There you go, there you go. What did you get
any of that wing stops? They were here?
Speaker 15 (32:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (32:38):
Okay, excellent, Okay, congratulations, young lady. I think we have
one more young lady that's gonna come up. Go ahead
and introduce yourself to the Fox Sports Radio audience.
Speaker 8 (32:47):

Speaker 2 (32:48):
I'm a linebacker and a Russian.
Speaker 3 (32:49):
And what grade are you in?
Speaker 2 (32:51):
I'm a senior.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
You're a senior? All right, excellent? So you're a linebacker
and what other position?
Speaker 8 (32:55):
Russia?
Speaker 3 (32:56):
Okay, so let me ask you this, when when someone's
trying to make a move on you and they're trying
to come up up the middle and you pull their flag.
Do you laugh at them and say, don't come this way.
Speaker 8 (33:05):
No, I just it.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
You're just nice and you give it right back to you.
So what was your favorite moment this season on the field.

Speaker 2 (33:19):
Other team.
Speaker 8 (33:19):
Uh huh, I feel like that was the highlight.
Speaker 3 (33:22):
Was there a moment in this game? And anyone can
ask you what you thought to yourself this could be
a really really good season for us.
Speaker 8 (33:28):
Yeah, the first the first game of the season.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Excellent. What are you looking to accomplish this year? Any
goal for you are tackles? How many do you have now?
Speaker 16 (33:38):
Do you know?
Speaker 3 (33:39):
Oh wow? How many more games do you guys have?

have you on the mic. Coach.
Speaker 15 (34:06):

have twenty two girls this year and eighteen of them
are seniors.
Speaker 3 (34:19):
Oh wow, So they know a lot at State.
Speaker 6 (34:22):
So they're focused.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
You know, they like the job's not done.
Speaker 15 (34:25):
Yes, winning league was the first goal, but we have
to at least get past the third round. We made
to the second round last year, so we're trying to
get to pass the third You know, we don't want
the season to end so fast when you put so
much time and energy into it.

Speaker 6 (43:01):
Of that at the community.
Speaker 17 (43:02):
Yeah, and just that thank you Palm Springs. We opened
on Tuesday and since then we got a warm welcome
from the city. A lot of locals came out and
we're looking forward to the next twenty years. We're locked
in there, we ain't going anywhere, so we'll be part
of the community.
Speaker 3 (43:13):
Thank you. There you go, and I can help you
get to those student athletes. But thank you all for
coming in. We certainly appreciate it.
Speaker 6 (43:18):
Thank you, Thank you.
Speaker 1 (43:19):
This is the Coachella Valley Sports Report on Fox Sports Radio,
Covino and Rech week days two to four pm right
here on Palm Springs Home for Sports, Fox Sports twelve
seventy am, Palm Springs.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
This is the Coachella Valley Sports Report. I am your host,
Coach B on Fox Sports Radio. Heard in Southern California
on Fox Sports twelve seventy AM. And I'm heard in
Las Vegas on Fox Sports ninety eight point nine FM
and a's always. We're streaming twenty four to seven on
the iHeartRadio app. And we have a special guest Football
Football and CV in the building. By all means, please
(43:55):
introduce yourself to the Fox Sports Radio audience.
Speaker 7 (43:58):
Yes, my name is Cecil aka Tom from Football and CV. Sorry,
my partner could not be here today. That'd be Tracy
aka Jerry. She's under the weather.
Speaker 3 (44:11):
Yes, sorry, to hear that. Hopefully she feels a little
bit better. I know that it's that time of year
when the weather changes. Uh, it happens. But you know,
we were talking off air a little bit about CV football,
and I'll tell you there's some good football going on
right now. Palm Springs just it's is this something you predicted?
I mean the season they're having now, I mean they've
(44:32):
beat some good teams like your Kaipa. I mean they
are playing some football.
Speaker 1 (44:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (44:36):
They I mean they they killed the they slayed the
Dells Slayers there of your Kaipa. Palm Springs in general
is I always had some great talent and I was
just waiting for it just to show up on the field.
So I'm just glad that they actually are producing it
on the field. As for Lakinta, who's out there too,
(44:56):
just had a heartbreaker loss and overtime, I mean, shoot
that offense, they're opening it up. I mean they're letting
Roman just throw that ball around the field. I'm really
enjoying that, so is my partner just watching that because
traditionally they're mostly a run team, as most know. So
I'm looking forward to next week's beginning of the Dell
(45:18):
season between Palm Springs and Lakita. We'll definitely be at
that game.
Speaker 3 (45:23):
Who do you have? I know you do the predictions.
I'm still new to the market. So here's the funny
thing is is I've been called out a couple of
times like I forget what team, let's play your kaipa.
Speaker 7 (45:38):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
I know Palm Springs have won a game that I've
predicted against them.
Speaker 9 (45:41):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
I've just come to realize this season, I'm not gonna
pick against the Palm Springs. Jordan's out there ball and
we had him in studio. He's a big young man,
so I don't want to upset him. But who do
you have in that in that matchup? What do you think?
Is it too soon for your predictions? Too soon? Too soon?
Speaker 7 (45:59):
But however, since we're on the radio, I'm just gonna
let her fly.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
Let's let's go, let's do it.
Speaker 15 (46:04):
You know.
Speaker 6 (46:04):
I think that with.
Speaker 7 (46:07):
Palm Springs defense now turning around and their offense is
hitting on all cylinders, I think they're gonna have a
good chance. But you since this is on the road,
and then you have you have the bird cage there Lakinta, Right,
I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Give the edge to l Q.
Speaker 7 (46:22):
Nothing against Palm Springs. You guys can keep those receipts. However,
I'm gonna give the edge to l Q.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
And that's the one thing that's tough. You know, when
when Jordan was here, we had him, he was actually
our when we started this season. He was our first
guest of the season because he was the number one
player in our Legends top tier, top top tier Legends,
number eleven. And he even said it, he said, that's
the one thing about football when you're on the road,
it's difficult. And I know he's a senior, I mean
(46:48):
Cole as a senior as well. It's his defensive partner.
Do you think that that's gonna be a difficult challenge
challenge for anybody when we get league going.
Speaker 7 (46:57):
I think so. I mean, home field advantage is what
it is. You know, that's that's a big thing, especially
at LQ. I mean, if you go down to the
dungeon at Shadow Hills. I know you guys just had
the Shadow Hills flag football all in, yes, before it
came on. But that's the tough place to place as well.
You know, you got several places, but for sure, with
(47:18):
that fan base with the student body at LQ and
I've been there a couple of games.
Speaker 3 (47:23):
And it is it rocks, yes. And when you talk
about LQ, the four and one overall, they have a
big You know what, I graduated from Downey High School.
If you see anybody from La Quinta, let them know
thank you for we roughing up Lynnwood because that was
a rival back in the day. You've got to love that.
I mean, they opened the season with a thirty four
or a fourteen win over your Yuka Valley. So they
(47:45):
came out letting people know that they were here and
they were ready to play, and they were about that business, correct.
Speaker 7 (47:50):
I mean I went up there, actually we went up
there to the Lakina versus yucka Velly game, and from
our eyes, it was astonishment just to see that offense
move and clicking, I mean, just throwing the ball. We
were expecting, okay, down to the hike, turn around, hand
off the ball, you know, three cloud, three yards in
the cloud of dust. I mean, but they came out
(48:10):
with Hansley just wrote Roman just throwing the rock. It's like, wow, Okay,
I see you now. And I mean you guys probably
seen it on our post, we say that, Hey, we're
glad to see that they're opening it up. We're looking
forward to seeing what the rest of the season will do.
And not just that, I mean you just have the
next year with the new conference coming in and everybody
(48:32):
coming through, that's gonna be a great opportunity for everybody
to showcase their talents as well.
Speaker 3 (48:37):
Right, And that's gonna be a mega conference with everyone
in it except for DCA, which is interesting, but I
know DCA is trying to get there. But when we
talk about some let me ask you that let's let
not lose that point. How excited of you now that
everybody's just going to be all in one?
Speaker 7 (48:53):
Oh, I'm excited. I've been saying it for a while.
On the backside, I wish that we had something like this.
That way, some of the teams that have that bad year,
let's just bring them down right down a notch and
then bring a team that's deserving bring them up. Hey,
let them let them showcase their talents with the big boys.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
What they call it relegation in the European soccer.
Speaker 7 (49:13):
Yeah, hey, i'm bump sorry, coach, you're getting bumped down.
Speaker 3 (49:16):
Yes, yes, And that's the thing. You know, I haven't
had a chance to really dig into that. It's gonna
be like fourteen teams. I don't are you're not gonna
be able to play everybody. So that's gonna be interesting.
How that's going to work.
Speaker 7 (49:26):
Yes, And I mean and hopefully they got their their
their plans down and they can get that through. But
I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this happening that way
because there's a lot of local talent here, yes there is,
And we don't we don't really have to go outside
the valley if we don't want, if we don't need to,
especially with the fan basically we all know those road games. Besides,
(49:46):
I'll give a shout out to Xavier. I mean they
like to travel, right, I mean they travel in droves.
Other than that, I mean, those visiting stands are nothing there.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
I think what it is is when people see those windmills,
they get scared and they turn around. I don't know
what it is, if it creeps about or what. But
you know, I think you're right on that the valley
is a special place. And I remember, you know, when
my wife and I when we were in talks to
buy this station. She and I we met with the
former owner of the station, and we were doing then.
We were just putting our feet in the water. We
(50:20):
were all all the way in because this was last
like October, and my wife and I went and had
dinner and my wife was looking on her phone and
the pole we did for the Coachella Valley Football was
and the waiter was all up in her phone. I'm like,
why are you all up in my wife phone? He's like, Oh,
that's the Coachella Valley pole. And I was like, there's
something special about sports about here. What is it about
prep sports in the Coachella Valley? It's you've been here
(50:41):
a while, can you describe it?
Speaker 7 (50:43):
I mean, is that on kept secret that we have
those gems that are out here that most people outside
the valley don't get to see. You know, you had
individuals who go onto playing D one and in the
NFL level, So it is something special. So that just
just goes to show for these kids who are playing,
don't give up on your dreams and you can make
it out of here.
Speaker 3 (51:04):
Right absolutely. Because you think coach Dockrig Xavier played professional,
so that coach Johnson a DCA played professional. There's a
slew of players that have gone on a play at
the next level Division one and they play professional. And
just to keep on what you're saying about local talent,
D e L Power, Palm Desert they are they are.
(51:26):
I think that their team. I'll ask you, it's who
do you have for the D E L. That's the
question I'll ask you. Is that still too soon?
Speaker 15 (51:33):
No?
Speaker 3 (51:34):
I mean no, you know, I don't want you to
have to put anything out there, you know, like you said,
but you're already on now.
Speaker 7 (51:39):
I mean I'm already on, already on radio. I'm gonna
put it out there. Overall, I think that the team
that's gonna be that needs to be beat is gonna
be Rancho since they are the defending champs.
Speaker 3 (51:51):
Right.
Speaker 7 (51:51):
You do have Palm Desert who serves it coming up strong.
But I'm gonna put my money on Palm Springs. Even
though I said LQ is gonna beat them the first one.
I think the Palm Springs after that can run the table.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Right, And I think it is shocked. You know, it's
funny we say that about Palm Springs when we made
them number one of the pole. Oh my goodness, a
lot of shots fired. People were upset about that, but
I mean they're you gotta show it that they're doing
it on the field. They're proving it. They have a
great seniors and they can do it. But back on
on Palm Desert, I mean that team, when you look
(52:23):
at them, they're three and two now. But they had
they had a big start. They had some Uh they
played Brawley, what they beat They lost to Central, they
beat Elsa, and Oi lost to Ya Kaipa and Palm
Springs turned around and beat Ya Kaipa. So that says
a lot about Palm Springs. And then they had a
big win against of Redlands, put up fifty points on Redlands.
(52:45):
That lets you know that Palm Desert offense is real.
Speaker 7 (52:48):
Yes, I mean if that offense can click just like
the defense does, watch out they will be a force
in the Dell. I mean, I'm just glad that they
were able to just give it to their playmakers out there.
I mean you had Trey Bolton, you have Tolent, you
have Tolling out there. Uh Joonah Toling, Right, And I've
known that kid since he was in Literal League, right,
I mean he used to be he used to run
(53:10):
with the Shadow Hill Knights, the Little Knights back in
the day, and his father used to coach over there
as well. So they have some talent and I'm just
waiting to see for them to actually put it on
the field and utilize that and just let that offense go.
I mean, let let Riveria let him cook.
Speaker 3 (53:26):
Right like he did a couple of weeks ago. Right,
And once again Fox Sports twelve seventy a m. We're
excited we have football and CV in studio. And who
were some I'll ask you this. A surprise for me
was pomp Springs just the way that they are balling,
because I know because we were I was on Fox
(53:47):
Sports thirteen to fifty am Riverside for twelve or ten years.
And your kaipe is one of the most consistent blue
collar teams there is. I mean, they are a tough
coach price over there, tough team. They're always going to
play hard, and I think when Palm Springs went out
there and beat them, it showed you they're they're real
legit competitive. But who's been a surprise team for you
(54:08):
this year?
Speaker 7 (54:09):
Surprise team for me? Hm, I would say I would
have to go with a Palm Desert, Okay, I mean
even though you know, for the past couple of years
they've had their quarterback battles and and then their offense
wasn't up to up to par like their defense. That
is a price surprise team for.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
Me, right right. And then you know with Xavier Xavier
form one going into league, I'll ask you a little
bit about that, and you and and the one thing
you said is is with them, they're smaller school, so
sometimes it's tougher to compete. But four and one. Has
that been a shock for you as well this year?
Speaker 7 (54:44):
No, because traditionally they're playing powerhouses, right, I mean, Dockery
out there, he's scheduling those tough teams in the preseason
to get them ready for the regular season. And then
this year they decided to switch it up, which is
which is good. You know, that's a good morale for
the kids. You know, he gets a couple of wins
your belt instead of coming into league maybe one and four,
maybe two and three. Now you're four and one, right,
(55:05):
four on one looking pretty right going up against you know,
Palm Desert is to kick off your the DL opener.
I mean that looks good compared to you know, limping
in like they've usually been doing nothing against that because
it's it's nice to see teams play hard teams in
the preseason to get them ready for the regular season. However,
the injury bug is actually hindered Xavier throughout the years
(55:30):
because of the heart preseason schedule.
Speaker 3 (55:33):
Right, and that's something you don't want to do going
into league. Now. You like you said, they're four and one.
They've outscored their opponents one seventy four to sixty nine.
I mean, I tell you they are playing some some football.
They beat cat City forty eight to six, beat Yuka
Valley thirty five to twenty one. The early loss was
against Saranno so Rono, another team that I covered an
(55:55):
absolute power coach Mahochin Mahoche, the father retired, the son
is running its father he was. We put him in
the Hall of Fame in San Bernardino. So they have
a tradition of just great coaching and great football. They
had a convincing win thirty one to zero over Desert
Hot Springs. Is this year that that I know you
(56:17):
say la Kenita's ranch a miarage. You're putting your money
on Rancho, But can can someone come up like an
Xavier and because this, to me, the valley is wide
open for that one team that could come up and
just take over the valley.
Speaker 7 (56:31):
Sure, I mean, it all depends on any given Friday night,
who's gonna show up, right, And we've had some talented
teams out here that just for whatever reason didn't make
it through.
Speaker 3 (56:42):
Right.
Speaker 7 (56:42):
You know that one stumble, that one fumble, their interception here,
bad play there. I mean, that will cost your team
the game, cost your team the league. I just like
to see that there's gonna be more teams coming up
who are who are young, like you talked about Xavier,
Xaviers young. You had Palm Springs was a younger group
coming up, and now these all these individuals are seniors
(57:05):
and now they're leading by example, and that's great to see.
Speaker 3 (57:08):
Right right. Well, I'll tell you this, I certainly appreciate
you coming in and talking some football. I know your
knowledge out here in the valley is a lot greater
than mine. So thank you for not making me look
like I don't know what I'm talking about. So I
appreciate that, But I tell you we need to definitely
connect and have you give us some more insights on
the season and what your thoughts are when you talk
about Toland over at Palm Desert. I know what coach
(57:32):
Coach Dockery was talking about him as well because he
coached them when he was little, so he's known him
for years. So that kid is legit. We're gonna try
to get Palm Desert football in studio, but thank you
so much for coming in. If anyone wants to follow
you or see all your information, please do give them
your social media.
Speaker 7 (57:47):
Yes, our social media is Football and CV. That's on
Instagram and that's also on X.
Speaker 3 (57:52):
There you go, so make sure you follow Football and
CV some of the best coverage there is for prep
football in the entire valley. When I first came out
here and I started researching the market, and I saw
the great work you were doing, That's why I wanted
to make sure I reached out and got you in
studio because I think you guys do amazing work. And
that's like, so everyone knows uh. Coach B comes in peace.
(58:16):
I'm here to connect, get to know everybody, and at
the end of the day, I'm just a vessel for
the help promote the student athletes.
Speaker 7 (58:24):
Yes, coach be the same same here. I mean that's
how we started out. I mean, we were talking for
a couple of years to doing something and then finally
we pulled the trigger last year. And our purpose is
to highlight the highlight the kids, you know, not just
these individuals who we see the elite eleven. We're talking
about under the radar type of kids. We actually have
(58:45):
the Baller's Update, which is our spin off from where
are They Now? Where are they at now? The rest
of the times, you go through school, you graduate, and
you're done, you get forgot about. But we've had several
people in our Ballers Updates. We do interview with current
players now. We actually had one, the Shattle Hills Kicker.
Speaker 3 (59:04):
We just did that.
Speaker 7 (59:05):
But we're here to just like you said, be another vessel.
You know, I know that people like to keep receipts
and you know when we have our predictions, yes, but hey,
it's all opinions. I mean, we're not going to get
everything right. But however, we are here just to shine
the light on the kids.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
And I agree, and I should have asked you that
what is your mission and purpose? And that's what it's
all about. It's about the kids. And believe me, I
know because with us, we did predictions as well, and
uh yeah, so so yes, these these young young student athletes,
they remember, you know, and they keep like you said,
they keep receipts, and the kids will say they come
for you. Yes, but like you said, it's just a prediction.
(59:42):
And and like they always said my high school coach
us always say, this is why you play the game. Yes, sir,
this is why you get out there. You play the
game because you can't measure someone's heart. If you could,
there's no way that Tom Brady would have been picked
in the sixth round. But nonetheless, thank you so much
for coming in. Football Football is CV. Make sure you
give him a follow. We have to get some updates
(01:00:03):
from you throughout the season because great insight. Thank you
so much for coming in. And you said your your
partner was under the weather.
Speaker 7 (01:00:10):
Yes, partner was underweather. Hopefully next time we come on,
we'll both be here and we're looking forward to.
Speaker 3 (01:00:16):
That absolutely well. We look forward to having you in
and hosting you as well. We're gonna take a quick
commercial break. Thank you so much for coming in. This
is the Coachella Valley Sports Report. I am your host,
Coach B on Fox Sports Radio herd in Southern California
Fox Sports twelve seventy eight M and I'm heard in
Las Vegas on Fox Sports ninety eight point nine FM
and as always with streaming twenty four to seven on
the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
