(00:24):
Cody, Wyoming. Hey, it'sAshley in and live on the Cody Wyoming
Podcast. And I'm Taylor van zellOr up here in Cody for the summer.
Paradise Carriages is my operation and weare running the stage Coach in downtown
Cody doing stagecoach tribes with our percheronhorses this summer like a real stage coach.

(00:45):
That's what's amazing, Like a realstage coach. It is so much
fun. So our stage coach isoriginal. It was built by a mena
Night out of Missouri in the nineteennineties. It's out of Latham Coach Works.
I got it a couple months agoand then it is just immaculately clean
and we have been having a blastwith it. Okay, so have you

(01:06):
always driven safecoat. Okay, soI'm new driving stage couches, but I've
been driving horses for about fifteen years. I started in Colorado doing sleigh rides
out of college my horse shower andone of my friends was like, Hey,
we need drivers this winter up atthis restaurant. Do you want to
learn how to drive horses? AndI was like, heck, yeah,
that would be a blast. Sothat's where I started. I did sleigh

(01:27):
rides for five years up there inthe wintertime. Does this restaurant? I
can only get there by sleigh, snowshoe or cross country ski. Where is
this? This is an Aspen,Colorado. Okay, what's it called?
The Pine Creek Cookhouse? Okay,we have to give him a plug because
that's amazing. Yeah, okay, the Pine Creek cook House, asked in
Colorado? So I grew up ridinghunter jumpers, horse showed all over the
country. I did that till mysenior year of high school, and then

(01:51):
I could never afford to have myown horse or horse show like with my
own finances. So I kept roadfor my trainer and trained all her,
helped her train horses and cut theroad client horses. So I was really
fortunate. I got to go showall over the country, and then in
high school my senior year, Iwas all right, I want to do
something different. Got into the Westernthing, started learning to barrel race.

(02:13):
So I went to college at ColoradoState University in Fort Collins. Was on
the rodeo team barrow raced for twoyears there, got into team roping.
You're just going from one. Thisis a great podcast because it shows people
that you can do whatever the peoplewant. If you set your mind to
it, you can do whatever inthe world. So I started team roping.
I healed headed a little bit,but I had a little mirror that

(02:35):
we trained to heal, so Idid that. Rodeo started driving horses,
so then I was showing horses English, I was rodeoing, barrowl racing,
and team roping, and then Iwas driving horses too. So I didn't
really know any given day what Iwas going to be doing that day.
Some days it was all of it. So yeah, but you're like a
real cowgirl. That's everyone's dream.Somehow Yellowstone came on. If you want
to be a cowgirl, ye,they see that. I admire that about

(02:59):
you. How long have you beenin Cody right now, Cody, we've
been here two weeks. Two weeks. You go back and forth between Scottsdale,
Arizona, and Cody, Wyoming. Now, Cody, yup, I
was going to Colorado. Now we'rejust Cody. We love Cody. I
love Cody. It is so muchfun. So I'm hoping that this will
be our future location for as manyyears as we can be here. Yeah,
and will you go back and forth? So we'll stay through the summer,

(03:21):
probably in August first to September. If it doesn't snow, we'll go
back to Arizona. Yeah. Andthen in Arizona. Where do you base
out it. We're in North Phoenixin Surprise, just a little town in
the northwest area of Phoenix outside ofWickenburg. That's where you take the rides.
So we don't do stuff out ofour house. We do go to
Scottsdale. We're mobile, so wecan go wherever. We do a lot

(03:42):
of weddings down there, parade inthe wintertime or a big thing. The
last February during Super Bowl started ourcarriage rides in Scottsdale in Oldtown. Amazing.
So tell me how much do youcharge for carriage rade? Down there
in Arizona, we charge. We'vegot two loops. We've got like a
ten minute loop and we've got atwenty five minute loop. Because old Town
Scottsdale's got several different districts of it, it's big, so we can do

(04:03):
a small and stay in one district, or we can go see all the
districts. So it's either ten dollarsor twenty dollars a person, depending where
you want to go. Great, and then in Cody, how does it
work? So in Cody, whatwe figured out is we are parked outside
of the Arma in front of thetrolley. We charge twenty dollars for adults
and ten dollars for kids. Kidsfive and under our free, and we

(04:24):
do a twenty minute ride around downtownCody. Since I've been on the trolley
tour last week, which is ablast, we learned a little bit more
about Cody, so we're going tostart doing a little bit more of a
tour versus a ride. We gotone of those microphone deals so we'll be
able to talk about Cody. Becauseyou can't talk from up in the boot
down into your people. Something nice. Now we can communicate with them.
You're gonna be like live and incharge. It's gonna it's gonna be so

(04:46):
fun. We'll have to ride inthe carriage and you'll have to do trivia
because thinking if we had the lightsthat come on, you know, the
van show that's you, the carriagein Cody would be fun. I'm excited,
Taylor. If someone wants to findyou on mine to book before they
get here, how do they findyou? So our website www. Dot
Paradise Carriages dot com. Right onthe home page there's a book now button

(05:09):

from there. Everything you can bookonline. You can call in reserve right

fourth of July weekend, so it'sgoing to be a wild one. Are
you going to be at the rodeoat all this year? Not this year.

(05:30):
We're just getting our permits and stuff. We're just this is it forst
year here? Yep? So thisyear worked good to go. We didn't
know we were actually guaranteed to comeuntil the week before we left. Amazing
yeah, and he got permitted throughor through the study of Cody, the
city of Cody. Okay, awesome, everything's peach keen amazing. That's awesome
that it's a fund, that youhave the town sup for it, and
that you can be here. Ifsomeone didn't know, necessarily, if they

(05:53):
wanted to go on a carriage, right, why would you want them to
go They've never been to Cody.Oh my gosh. Cody's the western town.
Comedy's one of America's last cowboy towns. Why wouldn't you want to see
Cody on a horse drawn stagecoach? That's just the Wild West at its finest.
