Bishop thanks Poe with a peck onthe cheek. Skip Devas and Ginny
helped Tricia and Casey down from thehelicopter PLO and Larkin spots Cyrus the top

That's it. So you're Monica Potter. I remember her from Head over Heels
back in the day with Freddy Prince. You're a big mon and then but
you watched Parenthood. I saying I'ma big Monica Potter fan is definitely an
overstatement with the poster behind you saysotherwise, you're right. Yeah, I
didn't think you could see that.I was a fan of Parenthood after it

already was done airing. I watchedit when it was streaming, But I
really got into that show, andMonica Potter is great in it, and
she wasn't even necessarily one of myfavorite characters. But you don't see her
doing like I don't know, Ijust haven't seen her many of her like

it was more so that I wasjust interested in seeing, you know,

posts which had a picture on like, is that Monica Potta. I was
like, yeah, so you hadno idea. You hadn't seen this at
that point? Is that what isgonna have to have Jess from about the
chapters? It's it's certain, Butyeah, I didn't realse it was her
in Patch Adams or her in Soul. I think I'll see the two films.
I've seen her, right, Ijust know her as oh yeah,

and so of course saw um Yeah, I I don't know. I was
just like, oh cool, MonicaPotter um and you obviously delivered. I
mean she's in for a you know, non zero amount of this. I
mean she's not she's not a hugeshe's like the goal of the film rather

than a huge part of it.Yeah, she's she's she's a present,
she's the irrelevant character, but she'snot in the thick of it. This
is as close as she ever getsto being in the thick of it,
where she's nearby what's going on.I'm just so happy they didn't kidnap her
and the daughter. That would havejust been ridiculous. At the end of

Speed, when Dennis Hopper gets SandraBullock like in this one, Cyrus is
like, oh, there she is, but I don't know who she is,
but I just figure it out,and then he takes him of the
daughter and Monica Potter the skip Devi'shas been a bad guy the whole time,
and he's he's he's working with Cyrus. Why is Cyrus on the top

of the fire truck because swathings drivingit. Swamthing's driving it. Correct,
Yes, yes, something's driving.We see in the next job something's driving
diamond dogs on the back and Cyrusis on top of on the ladder,
a ridiculous place to be. Whyaren't they in the cab because that wouldn't
look as cool. Yeah, you'reright, Cyrus isn't a smart We've learned

that about Actually, Jay makes sense. Yeah, absolutely well. Okay,
so in the script as a fairfew changes between the script and the scene
in this one. In the script, they don't spot Cyrus on top of
the fire truck. They spot afiretruck. One fire truck going the other
way like being a salmon swimming upriver and bashing cars out the way and

fireman being thrown off of the truck, which makes sense. That makes more
sense than oh, hey, Malkovichis riding on top of that fire truck
and no one plays for him tobe when he's trying to hide in the
one place in the world people arelooking for him. So it's got to
be a visual film decision of howcan I show at least for him quickly.

And I just instantly cracked up,like ridiculous. He looks kind of
he looks quite lithe on top ofthat fire truck too. I've never seen
Malkovich very like. He looks likealmost a free runner up there. I've
never seen him do much squatting orrunning sore. Seeing him up there making

some quick movements, I enjoyed itup what we did. We didn't see
him get up there. We seehim kind of just about get out of
the bossom of the plane. Iguarantee you just jumped to the top.
One jump. Mary was super jump, okay, double double jump going.
Well, the weird thing you don'tknow about that scene is that John Cusack

was really in his brain, inJohn Mouth's brain the whole time. So
of course people don't think people don'tknow that, But that was in the
script, in the second script he'scontrolling. He's wait, who's in Cusack's
Yeah, he's being John Malkovich.So is he being both? Can you
be both at the same time?Has he leveled up? Is someone in

John Cusack's brain? Is Cameron Diazand John Cusack's brain? Sure? Catherine
Keen isn't her brain? Right?Out of cast members from the films like
Jones and There somewhere, So yeah, like five people already made this joke
before me. I mean we hadthe guy from you the first minute on

and he didn't make it. Yeah, no, you did it. So
he's been controlled. That's why hedid it. That's why he's been making
all these bad decisions Jays because cusacsin his brain and Cameron getting cusa brain.
Yeah. Well, I mean Markinhas been not a dumb guys a
way through. I mean he's madesome poor decisions in terms of the entire

plot of the film, but likesticking the cons in the plane, Well,
I don't think he's I mean maybehe's just not experienced of being a
bad guy, and that's this problem. He's trying to do bad guy things.
He's a good guy. It's notworking out. Yeah, sure,
Okay, I am more confused tracks. I did find it very humorous,

humorous visual as well, to seeJohn Cusac just like counting around the like
massive people and being like um one, two, five, um ten,
Yeah they're all there, They're allaccounted for, Like, yeah, he
doesn't know who's been killed? Welldoesn't he is. He's clearly consulting his

cornet person This britcheat, the sameone that I have, which is where
where everyone is? At this point, I think he's been We have to
assume he's been keeping track. Sothe only people he doesn't know where they
are I think Billy Bedlam. Becausehe knows that he knows the ones who
got on and off the plane.He could maybe assume that Benson, Calls
and Popovic are still alive but hadsome kind of trade off and to stay

on and they sent off Falser onthe pilot and the other guy instead.
So Benson, Karlspopovitch, Billy Bedlam, h Darlin Greene three on the fire
truck and Conrad are the ones thathe can't and the two that were left
at learn around field, so connumber one and Ramirez, I mean the

other one smashed too. That oneguy's just blown up, Like, I
don't think he saw him get blownblown up? Right, Like, how
do you identify him? That's true? Yeah, the other the other two
that died at the airport, Iguess Goose and Ajax. Yeah, they're
blown up. Yeah, this andhe knows what. He knows what I'm
to Sindia. He knows what I'mto Pimball. Yeah, the ones who've
got off Old Gone, Donald,Londel Watts, he knows where they are.

So yeah, so he's doing hisheadcount and he's he's generally looking for
he's looking for Cyrus because that isthe main bad guy. But the end
of the film, we know whathappens there. Does he keep looking?
Has he got like an half adozen people who are trying and track that,
Yeah, but they're all going Pokenhelp him out Poke and like okay,

Benson, Cars Popovitch they got killedin the plane. I can tell
you that much Power doesn't know aboutMonkeys and Ajax and on number one ramires,
he doesn't know where they are.Conrad disappeared. He's not in his
head count. I think when Bishopis getting up on the plane, Conrad's
the Jesse's like one of the Bteam. Of the cons. He's not

like in the major like Darling Green. That's he's like the bald guy who
spits guards. At one point,he's like a future extra es. Actually
he's I think we see him getup behind Bishop, but then he's not
in the head count. So maybehe got off, Maybe he got out.
I don't know. I don't understandhow. Maybe he followed Cyrus and

they drove from the flight track beforehere, or he followed Garland and they're
playing craps together. Sure K,yeah, he's gonna be busy Conner too.
Bounty Hunter. I like it.I like it a lot, five
five episodes on it. Why didn'tthey do like a tie in with US
Marshals too? So wait, wewould end up with Joey Pants, Tommy

Lee Jones, Wesley Snipes. That'dbe amazing. Put them all together,
the three, that's the three customerslike the name as well. I like
I like US Air Marshals. Ido too. That's good. I like
it. And John Pogue, thedirector of Deep Blue, c wrote he

was in Monica Potter was in threeepisodes of Goliath, which stars with Yeah.
Yeah, from a lot of connectionshere, Jessica. Oh, not
to this film, the other stuffwe've done. Okay, so why do
you think he's up on top ofthis fire truck just so they can see

him and know that they're like foraudiences to be like, oh, okay,
he's on But what's his motivation,do you? Reckon? He wants
to be chased, Reckon, He'strying to get He's trying to get cu
second poems, we can kill him. That would be better if he was
doing like put his thumbs on likehis temples and then like get his fingers
up in the air like a moose. Yeah. The last thing we saw

him doing was saying too that hewas he was trying to kill po and
little case he was gonna last smellwith his stinking breath. So he's still
possibly trying to kill Poe, butin a way that he also gets free.
So I think he's looking for Poe, wants po to chase him,
and he's confident enough to be like, I want to fire truck. I'm
going to kill this guy which triesto do so. I think this is

an act of war. Verything else, if nothing else it's just a taunt,
like, yeah, I'm getting away. F you guys like you didn't
get me. Just flicks them off, double flicks them off. Do you
feel like maybe Larkin and Poe arelike misplacing their energies here, Like I

know the three they're going after areprobably if they escape, would go on
and do some bad. Fine,But why is no one specifically trying to
find Garland Green? Like they haven'tseen him? I guess I guess they
didnting with the problem. They cansee he's number one, right, Darlin
Green's number one. He's the onewho was like fully locked up. It

wasn't just in a cage. Hewas in a cage in a straight check
at a mask. Why we don'thave a personal vendetta against him so we
can just let him escape? He'sjust a bunch. What what do you
think Cyrus would do if both Larkinand Poe looked at him. I'm driving
away and they just waved like getout of here. They're like, we
gotta find Garland Green, y'all,And so everyone's like Green he wears heads

driving through states. Okay, okay, we love how about that? We
love how Cyrus goes out in thisfilm wonderful villain death and talk about it
next week. But what if insteadit was a dennistntry from Drassic Park.
And I think where he gets inthe truck, he turns and Darling Green's
next to him, and we seethe fire trucks started rocking. Does that

happen to swamping or does Cyrus withmean Presumably Darling Green's already wearing Swampthing's head
as a hat at that point,and so he then just fire trucks starts
rocking, and then we see lateron Darling back at the casino table.
He's taken everyone out, bloody mouth, I want that now, Oh my
gosh, satisfying. The entire firetruck just starts shaking. Cyrus is getting

mauled limb from limb from a fairywho still has the big neck rill or
the dinosaur still he borrowed a costumethat gives him a frilly neck. Elizabethan
kind of coast some big necrons thatwhere would that be there? Like a
is there a London, Las Vegastudor coast gume? I'm sure yeah,

(15:11):
it'll be some kind of themed casino. I'm sure that is amazing. They
go in there and it's just likeit's just remember in Cavin the Woods when
I was a blood just the entrailsand the elevator shaft and it's just horrifying
and bloody and all the guts.They opened up the cab door and that's
just the three of them. Heturns on the fire trucks and it's blood
coming out. That would really resolveone of my other like questions or gripes

(15:39):
about this scene too, because I, okay, obviously this was going to
happen, but Cameron Poe, youseveral times throughout the movie he could have
gotten himself out of the situation andhome to his poor wife and daughter who

(16:00):
have sacrificed years of their life becausehe had to get into a stupid bar
fight. And you're like, okay, but he's trying to rescue his buddy.
He's trying to protect this guard.There's valor in that. Now he
is literally going after three men yetagain out of a sense of like,

(16:22):
oh, I can't let these guysget over on me, so he has
to personally follow these guys when hiswife and daughter are right there and there
are like police officers, agents,everywhere that could be going after the bad
guys. Now he doesn't need todo that. All they have to do
is point two points two points.He doesn't he doesn't know treasuring Casey.

(16:48):
That so he's that's not on hismind track. And two well, we
know the direction he's going in afterCyrus is the ward's treasuring Casey. Maybe
that's the same direction. But alsoCyrus did threaten him, Jay, your
daughter is gonna smell my breath,so amabe. He's like, if I
don't kill this dude, they're gonnafind me later because Cyrus the virus is.

(17:11):
He's he makes great plans, buthe's a terrible improviser. He's just
he's just said to Bishop that he'sgot a birthday Parduce yet too. Presumably
that birthday party is in the roosonAnd we know for a fact because of
what time sunset was, it's alreadyafter like eight thirty pm. He's got
three and a half hours to driveor to travel from Vegas to Arizona.

(17:33):
He doesn't want to get stuck.He doesn't want to like, if he
goes by official methods, they're gonnawant to debrief him. They gonna want
to what okay, what happened?Yeah, he's got to get out of
where's Darling Green? Exactly what happenedhere? We got you want to say,
baby, but what about it?There's like eight other cons we can't
find. Where are they stay?Paperwork? You'll see your family in like
two to three working days. Sohe needs needs to get out of there.

So he grabs the first transp wecan see, which happened police motorcycle?
That pretty quick, and he goesback to general for stealing his police
motorcycle. He's on parole that he'sgonna get harmed with weben kids and they
go back to person for the rightyears. So we'll see Casey when she's
sixty. It was worth it.No, I didn't think. I didn't

think about the fact that he mayhave just coincidentally been heading in the same
direction. That's w I do haveto say. In ninety seven when I
watched this, John Cusack was oneof my favorite actors on the planet.
He really was, and Nicolas Cagewas one of mine as well, one
of my favorite actors. And seeingthe two of them, who I was

unaccustomed to them doing action movies geton police motorcycles together and take off to
battle John Malkovich and ving rained likethis is this is pretty cool, Like
that's probably one of my favorite visuals. It's like watching Nicolas Cage and John
Q's act two very what's the wordlike character acting, Yeah, dramatic,

like you don't associate them with that, I'm like, And then they're getting
on police motorcycles together to fight crime. That was probably one of my happiest
moments of ninety seven. One ofmy favorite visuals from this this this scene
is it's still Makovich, his headjust popping out of the bottom of the
plane. I think just the cameralingers on him for a moment, but
he like just hit that. It'sa very comedic, like it's very like

Edgar Wright the comedy of things movinginto the frame, this Malkovich head popping
down from above. But then Ican't help but fill they're like army crawling
along the like armac and rubble andbroken glass and debris and their forearms.

No, they're in no good checkto be earnest. And we we don't
see swamp thing get out of theplane, but we see him cooling them
on. I don't I feel badfor Emcy Gaine that rough terrain. Could
you rather do this or do whatAndy you frame did? Oh yeah,
so much short a distance and farless fecal mash room. So I'm gonna

go with this one. Yeah,well this one but narrated by Morgan Friend.
So, Mark, I what youwere saying about, like all these
actors being in this movie. SoI wasn't an adult when this came out.
But was it like seen as likea pretty like who's who of a

cast at the time or is itjust in retrospect now that we're like,
holy, like so many people arein this movie and this was a who's
who Because in ninety four, MichaelMichael T. Williamson was blowing up from
Heat and Forrest Gump like he wasnews at the time. Nicholas Cage was

coming off of his oscar for leavingLas Vegas and he had done the rock
like he was huge. Umi wasIncausemi was popping with Desperado Fargo like he
was was kind of blowing up atthe time. Then you had Ving Rains
off of pulp fiction and get Shortylike he was a big name. Yeah,
John Cusack, who John Cusack wasin the in the midst of like

what Groves point blank and like hewas he was like really doing like a
he was crushing it. Also Renoli, who Ronaldi Santiago who plays Sally can
Dance, was coming off of HackersDangerous Minds. And so I was watching
this movie and everybody kept popping up. I'm like, what is happening?
Like this is big? Uh whatRachel and Rachel Tikotin to trom To coachin

from Total Recall, I was like, whoa, um, like it was
it was? It wasn't because thisis Bruckheimer and and Michael Bay had been
around for a while. They madeDays of Thunder and a few other movies.
But and they always put really goodcharacter actors in these movies. But
I think at fifteen, you know, I didn't notice all the character actors

in Beverly Hills, Cop and TopGun when I was twelve or ten,
But at fifteen, this is whenI really started noticing all the character actors
in in Bruckheimer productions, Like sucha deep bench of actors in these movies.
So I think that's probably the first. Like Wayne grow was killed in
the rain fight in the beginning,the dude from Heat, who's such a
dirt bag in that movie. Andso the whole time you're yeah, Wayne

grows here like hackers, Like you'relike freaking from hackers? Is in this
like it was? It was peopletold me it shouted up, No,
I'm joking, like marks, weknow who they are. Stopped. This
was. This was loaded. Itreally was like, uh and I think
this The Rock and Face Off hadso many character actors popping up in them,
so yeah, this was everyone wasfor an act movie that as silly

as this one is, it hasa deep bench. Yeah, and those
are all the films that I firstsaw all these people in. I I
first saw this I was ten andit came out since and I would have
seen this like thirteen fourteen, Solike this, Armagedon, Face Off,
all those kind of things that haveall these actors in smaller roles. And
that's where I know him from.Sweet Steven Shaming has always been like,
oh the crazy guy on Transport,craz Dementia, That's that's where I know

him from. It. I justwait, he's actually getting like serious stuff
Like if I can watch those andhave a great time, Yeah, I
just I just I started watching everysingle movie, every movie that came out
probably when I was about ten,so I knew all the R rated stuff,
you know, so I was familiarwith restaurairt dogs like eleven. I

remember thinking there was way too manyswear words. I'm like, I remember
thinking myself like, this is toomuch for me. I remember feeling that
too many times. But then Ikept watching it like but I was like,
yeah, I was like, yeah, whatever, I'm here, So
yeah, it's it was. Itwas just odd, you know, because
action stars at the time, forme, it was it was only a
few. I feel like it wasSchwarzenegger, Stallone, Wesley Snipes, Kanu

Keyanu hadn't become a super action staryet and JCBD, Steven Seagal, so
I you just look at like youthink of the same eight action characters.
So then watching John Cusacket on amotorcycle with Nick Cage, it really really
like blew my mind a little bit. Yeah, yeah, it's beautiful.

That is good. Yeah, hey, I think that's the most loose that
I've ever been on Kanie of thepodcast. So thank you Jessica for asking
a really insightful question from me.That was great. It is just fun
like seeing this because well we didn'tsay this at the top. Well,
I didn't say this at the top, but I had never seen this before,
and I really didn't know much aboutit. Like I knew that it

was about a plane jacking, butI honestly he didn't even know that the
premise was that it was like transportingprisoners, like I kind of thought maybe
it was like some prisoners that wereon like an other plane or something like
a commercial plane. So I reallywas discovering this movie pretty much from top

to bottom. Awesome. Tell usabout your experience so well, besides in
the cage being in it, Ididn't know anyone else that was in it,
like no one, So it wasreally and Monica Potter of course,
of course Monica Potter um and whichI only knew because of this podcast to

be fair. Um. So itwas really fun seeing, you know,
the depth of all the actors andeverything. The movie itself. It was
definitely a fun ride. It's isvery I was laughing a lot through it,
And I don't know if it waslike it's like in a similar way

to Face Off, Like there's justso many like ridiculous things that happen,
and I don't know how intentional itwas to be like laugh out loud at
certain points, like I'm sure theywanted they had they inserted some you know,
humorous visuals on purpose. But Idid really enjoy the movie overall,

and it was just very nineties,very nineties. The music especially felt very
nineties, and the how Do ILive Without You? Like that was like
the first time when that started playingwhere I started laughing because I was like,
this is so just like Armageddon,Like so many movies during that time

period just had like a stong thatwas like the ballad of the movie kind
of thing. So it was thatpart was fun to me. And like
in this scene, the part wherelike Nick Cage has his like hero shot
where he like rolls over and you'relike, obviously he's not dead, but
like he rolls over, the musiclike picks up and he's in his like

white tank top and light blue jeansand his crazy ass hair. I'm like,
this is so nineties, it couldn'tbe at another time. And what
do you think about every day?It's just that slow turn, kind of
limping, hunched over, stiff andsoul to me every morning and a bloody

be that, Like, dude,that was a school when he gets up
that that's gonna be my alarm too. What did you think about Jack Nick
Cage? Just like he's like justa piece of Rebar in this movie,
like knowing him. Like, I'msure, I know you've probably watched a
decent amount of Nicolas Cage movie,but like, what do you think about
Rebar Nicolas Cage and this was it? Did it catch you off guard a

little bit? I feel like I'veseen him do so many different things at
this point that I was just like, oh, this is another just like
Nick Cage like look like that combinedwith the long hair, it definitely striked
a certain look that was very likevery this Like you could see that his

would instantly know like that's what thatwas from. Yeah, he's not the
rock excitement every film he has hehas. That's a really good point.
So you shouldn't be surprised if helooks different in a movie because he always
looks different in his movies. KickAss to Joe, that's a totally different
Nicolas Cage. Yeah, then yougo to Mandy. That's a really good

point. And like moon Struck,he's like kind of scrawny in that,
like, yeah, eighties his eightiesface, no but no, and Birdie
he was huge, so so yeah, he bounced all over the place.
He went from really huh, it'slike Christie Bao. Yeah, well,
