Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey there, awesome humans, Welcome back to confidence on command,
your daily dose of public speaking power. I'm your host,
Leo Weston, and let me tell you today we're diving
into something super juicy, authenticity and public speaking. Ever, feel
like everyone else has it figured out, like they walk

(00:22):
on to the stage radiating confidence in charisma while you're
over here trying to remember if um counts as a
verbal tick or an acceptable filler word. Well guess what.
That's where authenticity comes in. Listen. Being genuine isn't about
ditching your carefully crafted speech and just rambling on like

(00:43):
you're at a karaoke night with your buddies. It's about
letting your true self shine through connecting with your audience
on a real level and speaking from the heart. Think
about it, when was the last time you were truly
captivated by a speaker. Was it because they had a
fancy PowerPoint presentation or memorized every syllable of their speech,

(01:07):
or was it because they shared something personal, vulnerable and relatable.
Authenticity breeds connection and that's what makes your message stick.
So here are five key takeaways to help you unleash
your inner authentic speaker. One, Ditch the superficial script. I know,

(01:28):
I know, scripts can be life savers, but let's be real.
Sometimes a rigidly structured speech feels more like a robotic
performance than a genuine conversation. Don't be afraid to deviate
from your script if the moment calls for it. Add
some personal anecdotes, sprinkle in humor that feels natural to you,

(01:51):
and let your personality shine through. Two. Embrace your quirks.
You got those quirks, I got mine. Everyone does. We're
all a little bit different, a little bit unique. What
makes you you? Instead of trying to hide your quirks,
embrace them. They're what make you memorable and relatable. Maybe

(02:15):
you have a funny way of saying m or you
tend to use hand gestures that could rival a conductor
leading an orchestra. Own it. Three. Connect with your audience.
Forget about the royal we in public speaking is all
about connecting with your audience on a human level. Look

(02:35):
them in the eye, smile genuinely, and engage with their energy.
You want to create a sense of shared experience, not
a one way lecture. Four. Speak from your passions. Ever,
Notice how much more captivating someone is when they're talking
about something they truly care about. Yeah, that's passion speaking

(02:57):
when you genuinely believe in your mesas it shows. So
find the topics that ignite your soul and let that
fire fuel your words. Five, be vulnerable. It's human sharing.
A little vulnerability can actually make you appear more confident,
not less. It humanizes you and creates an emotional connection

(03:22):
with your audience. Don't be afraid to share a personal story,
admit to a mistake we all make them, or express
your genuine feelings about the topic at hand. Remember that
time I was presenting my new business idea and completely
froze up. Yeah it wasn't pretty. But instead of pretending

(03:43):
everything was fine, I took a deep breath, acknowledged my nerves,
and said something like, Okay, well this is a little
nerve racking for me because insert real reason here. You
know what. It actually worked. The audience laughed with me,
not at me. They understood that even seasoned speakers get

(04:05):
nervous sometimes. It humanized me, made me more relatable, and
I ended up delivering a pretty solid presentation after that
initial stumble. So, my friends, remember these key takeaways. Ditch
the super stiff script, embrace your quirks, connect with your audience,
speak from your passions, and don't be afraid to show

(04:28):
a little vulnerability. Authenticity isn't just about being real. It's
about showing up as your best self, connecting with people
on a deeper level, and sharing your unique perspective with
the world. Now, go out there and rock those presentations,

(04:49):
and hey, before you go, I want to hear from you.
