Speaker 1 (00:15):
Hello, Hello, Hello, and welcome to another episode of The
Couch Warriors. I'm one of your hosts, Richard Leddy in
the hot set. This week, we've had a few technical
difficulty particular difficulties, and we've having talking difficulties as well.
So yeah, here we are. It's a it's a Wednesday,
it's Origin day, so we're just going to do a
real quick episode, real quick, little catch up. Obviously, no
(00:36):
Warriors game to review, but we're as a game to preview.
There's a few of the things happening in the world
of Robbie Leath we're talking about. So I'm welcome and
my my co host as always John lasa On. John,
how are you going, Bow? How's the week been good?
Speaker 2 (00:53):
Mate?
Speaker 3 (00:54):
It was going really well until my computer that sort
of put it out.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I really don't think acknowledge he likes to catch Warriors. Mate.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
This is you know, I mean, how many times has
this happened to us where something just goes wrong on
podcast night, but then any other night, computer, it's fine,
the internet's fine, everything's fine. Then when it comes to recording,
suddenly just happens. How many times has it happened? I mean,
the audience doesn't know this. The people who are listening
or watching you don't know this, but come on, tell
them how many times have happened every week?
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Bro, it's some sort of technical technical difficulty. It's just
a hard bean millionaires these days. You know, we're not
quite up with the genes edders and and this this
new technology we're using, but we're trying trying to push
our way through. You know, John started up with TikTok,
so you know we're giving on the tiktoks and you
know we'll be doing a few dancers once we get
(01:44):
to a thousand set a thousand likes. So if you
want to see us do some funny related dancers, give
us like on TikTok and also how what we can do.
Speaker 2 (01:53):
We've already cracked a thousand lights, mate, so you've just
follow us, but just watching and listening.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
This is why I'm on my phone right now, recording
on my phone because of the fact that I don't
have my laptop. For some reason, it just wouldn't start
last night. So I'm going to take them to the job.
And it's not not that old of a laptop and
it two or three years old. So it happened on
recording nights for a year.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
We tried to use his work left top and then
we see each other and the recording, so we just thought, hey,
let's do this tomorrow. Yeah pre origin, we're gonna be
up late anyway, So here we are.
Speaker 3 (02:30):
There.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
Obviously was a few few games of rugby league on
the weekend. Did you have any particular highlights any games
you watched you wanted to shout out any teams?
Speaker 3 (02:37):
I watched a couple of games, but mate, it was
it was. I mean, before I go into that, it
was quite strange. You know, like every time there's a
buy for the Warriors.
Speaker 2 (02:44):
It's it's lonely. Do you get what I'm saying? It's lonely.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
It's like, you know, you get this image of someone
sitting on a on a swing out on a park
where it's like a great overcast day.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
It was just it was just lonely. It's like, you know,
what do I do? There's no Warriors games? What do
I do? What am I supposed to do right now?
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Even though the other games going on did Super Rugby
Super Finals, bok is a crab, It's just what do
you do do?
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (03:11):
Yeah, I felt the same. I was just sort of
and the fact there was only got five games as well.
But I did want to give a special shout out
to the Dolphins, the scot I think they've scored twenty
tries in the last two weeks. They put fifty points
on the on the Cowboys. Obviously the Cowboys with without
the likes of Robson and then I and Dead and
uh Color as well maybe someone else. But yeah, I
(03:35):
mean still they look like they're they're in hot form,
and that's coming off putting fifty points on the Dragons
a week before. So if they want to look out
for I think the Warriors have got them coming up
in a few weeks. So hopefully we don't. I think
defensively we're in a pretty good spot to stop that
sort of thing. But that was probably the big talking point.
And then obviously the Titans. The Titans down in the
(03:56):
Seagulls as well. The Seagulls look like they're in all
all sorts of struff at the moment, even with their
you know, their full strength team. They had no one
playing origin and still managed to go down to the Titans.
And so yeah, it's just I yeah, managed to catch
a little bit of it, but I'm looking forward to
watching the Warriors again this weekend. Before we sort of
(04:18):
rip into the game against the Panthers, we did want
to touch on, Yeah, the big news other Warriors camp
sort of earlier this week I think it was on
Monday or Tuesday with Tennis Dowers Smith resigning. This is
on the back of Halaesima and Laban resigning to twenty
twenty nine about two or three two weeks ago. So
(04:41):
Tennis Dow Smith, he's played two games off the off
the bench so far this season, looks made for first grade.
His young boy, I think he's only about twenty one,
another twenty one year old, and he's resigned to twenty
twenty eight. So you would have been happy to see
that news come through the other day, John Oh.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I was loving it.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
I mean, if you're in if you know that our platforms,
you would have seen the video I put up, you
know with all the young guns. You know, just just
do a little bit of a you know video where
just showing the youngers and what they've been doing and
what what the Warriors have been doing for their pathways.
It's just amazing, right when you've got it's not just
that it's not just a talent that's coming through. It's
also the fact that they're they're doing, they're signing them
(05:19):
long term, and because honestly, rival in er OL clubs
will be circling those players because they're so young, but
also they're showing the maturity to show that they can
they can play in first grade.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
And rob club. I have no doubt that rival clubs.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Would know will be will be pushing in on those
players agents. But the Warriors have gone and realized this
and they're going now, we want these guys long term,
and they're signed them not just on like a one
year deal or long term deals.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
Eight like you said twenty eight for.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Tennis star Smith, I think also twenty twenty eight for
the Metrich Bamang as well, he's twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
And then you got Laban like you said in Alasima
to twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
It's awesome, awesome, and these guys are the future.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
And it's not just this.
Speaker 3 (06:05):
I'm not saying they're in the future because they're so young.
It's because they're young and they're already've got the talent
and we've already seen it and they're showing the maturity
already and they can they can handle first grade.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
So these guys are the future.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
And it's it's awesome to see and congratulations to Tennistyal
Smith's from Canterbury, a Canterbury boy.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
To be honest, he's twenty one years old. He does
he looks a lot older. I don't mean that look.
I don't mean that in a niggative way. I don't
mean they're like, oh, you look old like a grandpa.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
I mean that he just you know, if he told
me he was like twenty eight or something, I old
believe you.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
He looks a lot older than twenty one.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
It passed. Really, he's easy enough. I thought the exact
same thing. He's it looks he's got a wise look
about his face. Yea. And yeah when I when I
when he first i'd sort of heard the name and
maybe I had not sort of put time too together
and put the face to it. And when he came
on that you know, that first game about three or
four weeks ago, I was like, oh, he's he's looks
a lot older than I expected. And I was like, no, no,
(07:00):
he's twenty one. He's the same beads boys. Well, I
think I mentioned it the other day. But yeah, it's
my old my old high school, so good to see. Yeah,
a good sat beads boy. We're making it into the
wires camp. We haven't had too many good sports stars
over the years, so he could be the next big thing.
We've also got he talked about Silver AMaGA twenty twenty
(07:22):
eight maybe and Luka Hallisima twenty twenty nine. We've also
got Sam Hilly twenty twenty seven, so you know, it's
it's an extra two years of him and what we've
seen from him this year has been been just amazing.
He really good, distribular of the ball, quick around the rack.
I think there would have been a few Canoa fans
the other week watching that game thinking, no, we probably
shouldn't have let this gruy go. And even the lights
(07:43):
of Till Picky and Metcalf, we've still got them to
the end of next year, I know. And it looks
like I don't know if you've seeing there's been a
bit of chat this week about it. Sounds like the
Warriors are pretty keen to snap up, in particular Metcalf
with the way he's playing. The two picky thing will
be interesting, obviously, depends what happens with Chance, I think
from memory, Chances signed till the end of twenty twenty six.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Well, he found the extension earlier in the year, maybe
a month or two ago. He sund An extension, So yeah,
he's staying on board as well. So it'd be interesting
to see what happens with a pickie. Speaking of to
a picky, I mean you've seen it.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Nasty hit that he got.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
Oh you know that he took on the weekend from
that mainly player. I actually brought the name I had
written down and just can't find it right now, but
you got five weeks.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
You got five weeks for it was a dog shot.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
It was a diffinite dog shot like and it happened
just right on the buzzer roll, just before the buzzer Yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
Down down by twenty points in the eightieth men of that. Yeah,
it's just I suppose one of those ones where it's
frustration obviously got the bit of him, but it was just, yeah,
there's no time for that, and good to hear he
got five weeks. And yeah, a lot of the sort
of Australian you know, our media were you know, they
were all saying, that's just one of the worst dog
shots were sending years pretty much, so it looked like
(08:56):
he was he was. I saw saw a picture after
the game and he was up and about and sim
with them. So it's so good to see that he
was able to sort of get up and walk around.
But he's obviously out of both or not playing Yess
Cup this week either, so he's obviously definitely will be
out for a couple of weeks with on on Hi
a watch, I imagine. But yeah, that's a It's a
(09:18):
very exciting time to be a Warriors fan, that's for sure,
with some of these young guys. And when we talked
about sort of I mean Hallo seamers, you know, he's
about second or third on our leams this year. Demetric
picked up six six games in that can six points
in that Cornella game, so they both sort of like
had their head the moments lab and every time he
gets a chance, whether it's starting or or come off
(09:39):
the bench, he seems to really put his hand up.
And so, yeah, exciting times ahead. It's an odd situation
to be in with the Warriors. I've talked a lot
about the likes of so every Qatar and a Belie.
We've seen with him when they you know, they cut
I went to the Storm probably he went to the Eels,
you know, about four or five years ago, and and
instantly they became the you know, we sort of saw
(10:01):
glimpses of what they could do at the Warriors, but
it was until they got outs where we sawt they
could do. I feel like with the likes of these
these some of these young boys coming through where they're
obviously going to be here for a few years and
we're seeing now just how good they are and we'll
be in the future.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Yeah, that's exactly right, bro. And you know, and just
like you're just to mention, you know, Carton and everything.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
You know, it's been a it's been a common theme
within the Warriors where players that are up and coming.
You know, they're either up and coming and then they
get snapped up or they're players that come to New
Zealand to join the Warriors to you know, to try
and get a shot at the NRL. Then they succeed
and then they leave to go to go to another
team after they've had there after they've actually.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Done some success at the Warriors. It's coming. It's common thing.
You know, you can think of players like Chare Towns
for example.
Speaker 3 (10:45):
James Maloney, just some names that you can bring up there,
you know, just for example who came and the need
they needed a break. They got the break at the Warriors.
As soon as they were able to showcase what they
could do, they were on. So you know, you see
that kind of thing happen. But this is this is
why this is a credit to the pathway system going
on at the Warriors right now, the success that is
coming out of the pathways because there are multiple players
(11:07):
and they're probably players that we haven't even even touched
up point and as do talked upon, you know in
terms of talking about them, is that you know the
Harold Matthews, Harold Matthews cup Boys for example, back to
back winners under seventeens, and you've.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
Got guys like Bishop Neil coming from there.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
He's he's going to be a beast of a player,
you know, coming up and stuff, and he's been spoken
about a little bit, but you know, these these are
the players that they spoken about a lot in the
future and there's more players to come. And this is
again a credit to the pathway systems where the Warriors
pathway system, sorry where things are just going so well.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
And not only are they going well and they're bringing
up some awesome players, but they're also the players.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
What's refreshing to Seebro is that the players want to
stay on instead of thinking like, oh, you know, I'm
keen to go you know, I'm gonna do a Locky
Galvin and go to a better club. You know, this
is the type of thing. Well, that's what Lockye Glvin
did you know? There's the essentially did Tigers to the ball?
If you if you say otherwise, shut up. Anyway, The
thing is that that that's that's what's really happened, and
(12:09):
the club, these players want to stay at the club.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
That's why they're signing long term. And that's the refreshing
thing about it. That's why that's what I think.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Anyway, Yeah, that's awesome. It's awesome to see and it's
gonna be awesome to see my handful of them playing
this weekend. When the Warriors returned to Mount Smart, I
feel like they haven't played too many games are Mount
Smarter recently? You know, they've been winning so much on
the road, but they lost. I think it was their
game the Raiders, wasn't it so they lost the Raiders
(12:37):
about a month ago and Mount Smart, but they returned
there this week. A bit of a bit of contention around.
You know that the travel from from Perth for the
Origin players and I think we'll touch on that but later,
but I might as well. I'll bring up the team list.
I presume you don't have the team list on you.
Speaker 3 (12:53):
My phone or a camp and you know I could
be bothering my work left topic. I just I didn't
want to run in. I don't want the recording not
to be borne by any other technals issues.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
So with you mate, just waiting for your phone to
run out of better now and then that'll be the
crim cool. Yeah, So I mean's no no mess of surprises.
I suppose the big talking point of centers, but we'll
start from the back. We've got Chance, Nicol Clockstead, full back,
Dallen Or, Dennis Lesniak and Roger two of us as
(13:23):
ship and the on the wings, Adam Pompey and Maela
Graham Tolfer and the centers. So for those of you
can at home, that's four double barrels surnames and the
five outside backs in the game. While Graham Dolfer we
obviously saw a bit of him last season. I don't
think we've seen him in the squad this year, so
(13:43):
interesting to see him go. I know there has been
a bit of talk about the presence of young dyea
Ovah another double barrel on the extended bench, and whether
they whether they could be a move there, and I
think he's been playing a bit of center and for yourself,
well's cup. But it looks like mt T's got it.
He's obviously going to the to the Rebels next year.
(14:04):
He looked it was a funny one old game Tolfer
because he he had a few runs last year and
actually looked pretty good. You know, I kind of liked
what I saw from him. But obviously, just with the
depth we've got on the outside and the outside backs,
he's hasn't been on a head his chance, so good
black to him going to the to the Rabbits.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
Yeah, and you're also are going to consider, like someone
probably didn't mentioned before but and should be mentioned, you know,
Ali Litle, I know, like you know, he's oh yeah,
one of the young game and he's get center as well.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, so yeah, I mean he's I think
he's endured at the moment.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
But what I'm like, I said, it's you know, you
you can understand why Willa's you know, Graham and dwelf
is going going off to somewhere else because he's need
the opportunity somewhere else.
Speaker 2 (14:44):
So you can understand it.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
Yeah, yeah, even Rock I bery bro like Rocket. I
just hell, we head Awa Google before. And he's twenty
four himself, you know, so he's still got you know,
he could still if he stays at the club, he's
still got another you know, good suck seven years potentially
if he can stay in free that seems to be
his problem. So we'll go back to the team. We've
got Harris to be and Luke Metcalfs. We've got another
(15:07):
double bell. It's five hour five other seven in the
back line.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
You know.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
Obviously no surprises there, both of them coming off arguably
the best games of the season of the season against
the Canal Sharks two weeks ago. Then we've got Jones Fisher, Harris,
another double bell playing playing against his old team, the
Pimouth Panthers, and and lining up against his good mate
from the Panthers and from the Kiwis as well. Mostest Leota.
(15:35):
So really looking forward to seeing that that match up,
and just yeah, I mean Forsher har I think a
lot of the reason that these some of the young
boys are hanging around, I think there's is the lessons
they're learning from Forsher Harris. He seems to be a
really amazing leader, a so loving seeing that got weight
again at Hoker, Marita no core at prop so he's
(15:55):
obviously moved from the second row, So I don't mind
saying that at all. And to the boys in the
second row so Leka Hala Sima and Jacob Laban and
Aaron Clark mister consistent at Locke, so yeah, obviously no. Kate, Well,
he's playing Origin tonight for the Queenslanders, so and it
won't be able to make it Beck in time and
then interchange. I got Tomato, Martin Jackson Ford, Dimitric Baumulga
(16:19):
and Tennis Dows Smith, as I mentioned recently re signed
with Sam Healy as the eighteenth man and then Bunty
Tell of Boyd cos the Eddie Ermeyer toever in the
extended bench. So was there any surprises there, he goes,
was that kind of how you saw the team playing out?
Speaker 2 (16:35):
John, Yeah, no surprises to me, I mean.
Speaker 3 (16:41):
In all in terms of center center position, always the
Pompey was in take one, and it all came I
think it all came down to Rocker whether he was
fit enough.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
If Rocker was fit, I reckon, he'll be there. So
I reckon that's why mg T is there.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
But you know, hopefully he has a has a great game,
you know, I mean, he's done while he's going to
regulize next year, he's still a warrior right now.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
So hopefully he can.
Speaker 3 (17:04):
Put on, you know, a good show there and show
us what he's got, what he's you know, what he's talented,
he's got in and what he can do. So you
know that nothing nothing, nothing that surprises me that I
kind of wish that they could find a way for
Healy to be there somewhere.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
I really wish that. I know it's hard to do
that when you've got a team that's performing.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
So well, it's hard to put players in like you know,
look at town the Boy, for example, an amazing player,
amazing kicker. We know that, but he can't even correct
the first, can't correct the seventeen because of the fact
that the other players are just performing really well and deservely,
you know, are in this and starting seventeen. So yeah,
no no surprises. Shout out to new Croude playing his
(17:44):
fiftieth game for the club, I believe, dude. Yeah, and
Tomarrio Madison will players hundredth n r L games, So
shout out to those two, two stalwarts of Breakby Love, say,
not just the club, but of the Rugby League in general,
especially for New Zealanders anyway, for Keys with the keywis anyway.
So yeah, no, I see no those surprises there, and
(18:06):
really confident of the side. You know they can do that,
the side can do the job against Pendriff. But at
the same time, I'm very weary, I know, Pin, I
know Penriff, you know, were very very likely will be
out you know with the Orange Stars and will probably
be able to keep well.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
But I wouldn't. I wouldn't just say, because I've seen
a lot of social media.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
Over the past few days where people are saying, well,
these players shouldn't be playing, Oh this would be it
should be a walkover, and I just don't like I
just don't like that because it's the kind of thing
that happened to us last year when we played Penriff
at Magic Round they had pretty much a full drink
team close to a full drink team.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
We didn't.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
We were just so many injuries that we had to
throw in a lot of young players. People were playing
out of position. I think even Chance played five A.
I can't remember. I can't remember that game.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
But we won the game.
Speaker 3 (18:53):
We beat the Magic Round at sun Corps, and we
were playing with players who were in a little little
first grade experience and we're able to do it against
the team that won the comp, you know, in nearly
a full strength. So if people are going out there
saying this should be at walk Over, I would just
be very careful.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
About that because I don't think.
Speaker 3 (19:12):
I still think you're gotta be careful because Penrith obviously
they haven't had the greatest season, you know, they they
haven't haven't. They haven't found their winning ways of the
last four years. But they still know how to They
still know how to win.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
They just haven't done it of late. And and if, yeah,
I don't know, I just think that you would be careful.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
I'm not gonna say we're gonna walk a walk I mean,
I'd love to see us walk over at Penrith, But
I don't know if it's going to be the case
or lot.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
I don't think be careful, yeah, don't.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
I don't feel like it's in the Warriors of DNA
that just have two big ones, you know, two big
ones in our Yeah. I mean you look at the
Penriff team and main sure you're there miss seeing some
quality and the lacks of Cleary or Jillan Edwards, Isaiah
You're and Liam Madden, but they're still you know, you
look at the guys who've come in to sort of
place them. Dame Laura, he's in there. I've got Thomas
(20:01):
Jenkins and Pull Alamonti on the wing, so both of
them have you know, had plenty of fifth grade birch,
you know, played most of the games this year. Even
got Casey, Casey McLain and Isaac Targo and the and
the centers, so there's plenty of you know, plenty of
firepower in that back five. Obviously, you know, not not
quite to the extent of sort of all and Edwards,
(20:22):
but if they're firing, it'll be good. I've got blaces
to lug. Hugh seems to have made that number six
years year zone and then Brad Schneider comes and played
half back, and bred Schneider has always sort of been
a pretty handy back up for both Away and clearing
the last couple of years when either of them has
been out. And then sort of mentioned before, you got
Leota and Lindsay Smith and the props Mitch Kenny captain
(20:45):
and Hoker, Scott Sorenson Isac Paberle, so a couple of
keywi's there and Matthew Eisen and At Locke. So yeah,
I mean still yeah, plenty of Yeah, I likes Leam,
Henry Luke, Ghana On Luke Garner on the bench along
with Trinklau and Loun parties. So a couple of guys
I haven't don't know too much about there, but yeah,
(21:08):
there's still there's still some firepower there, there's still some
still a really good fall back, you know. So it's
still going to be a big battle up front. And
as I perform, hopefully for she Harris will have a
few few secrets about you know what what what Grime's
cudent players gears. But yeah, I mean, I'm I'm looking
forward to it and it's just going to be good.
Good to have the Warriors playing against on a Friday
(21:30):
night this week as well. I feel like we haven't
need a Friday night game for a while.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
I'm pretty sure Saturday. I'm pretty sure Saturday you might
have to take on Google. I haven't got my phone
on me.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
Oh no, that it does. Yeah, you're right, you're right.
I thought it was Friday because they're not having a
Thursday night game and it was in the second g yeah, right, Saturday. Yeah,
and obviously there's still not enough time for the Origin
players to make the drip over just he do we look?
I mean, you mentioned to Marim Malon before, like you know,
I'm sure that he wasn't expecting that. Did you even
(22:01):
make it to one hundred in RL games? A massive,
massive shout out to him, you know, like he was
a big part of I think from memory, I'm pretty
sure when we beat them a metic round, I feel
like he was a big, big, big part of it.
And you know, and he's I really like, I know,
I know it would be good to see Sam Helly
get a spot, but I think it's smart having a
(22:24):
having a back on the bench, you know, like you
think about last year, the amount of times that we
got caught out you know, when we had about two
or three of our outside backs, we'll get injured in
a game and and and you know, the back line
was just unrecognizable and and would get found out. So
I think, yeah, I don't as much as I want
to see Sam Helly get more time, I think still
(22:45):
there's still a spot for a back on the bench,
and when you've got it back on the bench, you
probably can't justify having you know, like a hocker utail
utility as well. So yeah, yeah, I mean, I'm sure
Andrew Webs is just figuring out exactly the best best
process for that. But yes, chutched to my room. One
hundred games. Obviously it would have been probably five or
(23:07):
six years ago when he head his brain bleed. Would
have been security time for him. And yeah, he would't
have thoughty to make a hundred n RL games. So hopefully, well, yeah,
we'll see some more from him and awas juicy this
this this year. And you know, a core and the
front row as well playing prop. I like that with
the likes of Jackson Ford off the bench in tennis
(23:29):
Mouth Smith. How we look at the heat to head
between these two teams of forty eight played Warriors were
only one seventeen and the Panthers have one thirty of
one draw and obviously the last met round Mesic round
last year twenty twenty two. The Warriors are on a
pretty hot hot streak, have won six of the last
seven and but the Panthers have you know, they've stuck
(23:52):
back into it, currently sitting ninth on the table, which
is a lot better than we sort of a lot
of people. Yeah, you know, they were board and spoons
at points, so that they've obviously just slowly towing their
way back. So yeah, I'm expecting it to be, yeah,
like you a lot closer than than Yeah, well I expect.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
I do hope.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
I mean, like I mean for the sake of our
points differential, because that when they last win before the buyere,
we you know, you've got thirty points there and that
really helped the point differential because now on past thirty five,
so we had to win by thirty points to get here,
to get to thirty five points, which sees a lot,
you know how how long points we were, but yeah,
(24:35):
we need that. You know that that top four, top
five sort of race, top six race is getting quite
tight there, so points of original will come into it.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
So I do hope for the sake of our point
difference that we do run them over. I just don't.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
I don't know if I'll see see it happening just
for some reason can help but feel that pen will
just know, just play their hearts out, just like we
did linking to them in magic Round. So we have
to wait and see there. Hey before continue, mates, you're
you're mentioning the hyphenated names double barrels there. I actually
saw a step and on on online and there's a
(25:10):
actually just don't know who it is about.
Speaker 2 (25:11):
The random stands guy is guy.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
Yeah, we'll shout out to random Stance guy. We'll take
him in this, you know, when we get this out there,
but we'll say uh he said. He put a post
out saying the Warriors will break the record for most
hyphenated names in the inn OURL team and it's seven.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
You think so? Like is it being a team player
sexually being in their own record?
Speaker 3 (25:40):
So the seven players are Chance and Clodstard, d w Zila, Graham, Tolfa,
Artis Uhan Now Harris, Devida, James Basher, Harris and Tennis
Dollars fifth.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Seven players.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Seven players in the in the seventeen So apparently the
best the Warrior will break the river for the most
hyphenated names and in their team naming. So I mean,
I don't know if that's true or not, but either way,
it's still quite fascinating, and thank you for that step.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
A lot of a lot of names.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
I've got a hyphenated name, So I understand, I understand,
I understand you're representing.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yeah, I mean it must be a record, surely, like
there can't be another another team that's ever played. There
was a you know, while we're like the Rooster's head
a couple of Warrior, Hard Graves and Kenny Doll and
I feel like there was a couple more. But seven's
are ridiculous. You know, I like to have five of
your seven in your back lines unheard of?
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Yeah, exactly exactly.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
So, yeah, we're sort of touching it before. But there's
obviously been a bit of chat in them in the
media about about the obviously the Panther's missing, all these
all these guys and and and Ivan Cleary has come
out and he's not not too not too impressed with
the our scheduling because the nature is that basically they
can't make it back on a flight and time from
(27:02):
perfect and Aucklands. But yeah, he said, the Origin players
what we're playing because they can't. I don't think it's
fear that we can't play. We should be able to
make that decision ourselves and through flights, we just can't
get them there. And gas Gold's sort of he's piped
up in it as well. He said, how they expect
those players to back up? It's terrible. If if I
(27:23):
was the Panthers club, I'll be blowing up the luxe.
They're going to take the Origin players across. Someone at
the nr L probably said, oh, it doesn't matter, they
won't play anyway. But in previous years they were leading
the camp. Now they're in the bettle for the top eight,
and I'm sure they would have loved to have the
Origin players available. So yeah, Like it's always a funny
one around around these sort of origin periods and and
(27:46):
and you know there's like, I know, there was a
bit of drama last week with Matt Bearder not playing
for the Bulldogs and when he was he's eighteenth men
for the for the Blues tonight, what was your what
was your taken on you that do you think we're
just having having a cry for a CRY's sake or
there's more to it.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
No, to be honest with you, I agree with him,
you know, will put yourself into shoes if we were
if the Warriors had well five of seven players out
and then they had to back up literally, you know,
like three or four days later, I'm sure we'd be
saying the same thing.
Speaker 2 (28:21):
So I don't think Ivan Cleary is having a cry.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
I think he's just I think he's I think he's
doing a genuine argument, you know, and and you know,
feel good backing him up as well.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
I just think there's a genuine argument there. I mean,
Perth is a long way away. I've been to Perth.
Speaker 3 (28:36):
It takes the fly from Sydney to Purpose still a
long ways, a good five hours I think from from
memory with about five hours. Yeah, it's a good five hours.
And then you've got to stop off, you know, and Sydney.
Then you're going to catch another flight. And obviously Wednesday
night they'll play tonight, different times, et cetera. But they'll
recover on Thursday. They'll probably leave on Thursday, and then
(29:01):
you know, by the time they get back to Sydney
to get another flying. The timings of the flights, and
there's not like it's just flights every five minutes. It's
not like there's you know, it's not like there's a
flight every five minutes. You have to wait as well,
and by the time they get to New Zealand, they'll
probably be like Friday, the day before and they you know,
they wouldn't have trained or anything.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
They would have still be in recovery mode.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
No, I'm sure they're being especially after an Origin game,
So I totally understand from I don't think he's having
a crier or wins. I think he's you know, he
should be, you know, he he's every right to be
upset about all this because if we were this.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Happened to the Warriors, we'd be saying the same thing.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
And the n RAL has to take some accountability here
because they're the ones that come up with the scheduling.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
They know what's happening.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
It's not like they turn up blindis oh, we didn't
realize that you got the Panthers.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
You know, and your your team like Panthers, Melbourne, the
Storm also Broncos you know, usually turned tune over a
few Origin players as well, those those those those teams
should really get around this time, because I think it's
that's fear.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
And to be honest with you, I don't know the
worries head to buy last week and it's always good,
but going on the on the game they'll be played
against the Sharks, I would love to love just to
continue going. I would have loved for us to have continued,
you know, the momentum. I'm not saying that their momentum
is gonna stop, you know, against the pandas on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
I'm just saying that I would have loved to have.
Speaker 3 (30:24):
The bye later on. That's my opinion. And but yeah,
I think I just think he is every right to
be upset and angry about it because I would be too.
I'll be like, you know, I'm far out. We've got
five players. You got a playmaker, Nathan Cleary, he's out.
You've got Dylan Edwards fullback. You know, you've got some
important forwards to captain Isaiah Yo as well.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Right there.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
It's just like, hey, if it's like, you know, you
can't when those players can't come, you know, return and play,
and especially in the season where they're actually not doing
that well. It just makes it hard for them. So yeah,
I I totally I'm totally on. I have the Clearys
side here and I think if we as a Warriors
(31:05):
than it would be probably saying the same thing.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
But what are your thoughts on that?
Speaker 1 (31:10):
Oh yeah, I mean everyone gets to break. It's probably
unfortunately they have to fly all the way back to
the Warriors, you know, to New Zealand. But it doesn't
mean little. The Warriors just have to play in Australia
after every out of origin game, you know, just for
the for the sake of the other clubs. Yeah, I
(31:30):
mean it's a short turn around. Isn't stop being so
good Panthers, That's all I gotta say. It's not been
so good to have so many players in origin and
then you know the rest of us can share in
the sports and the spoils of of the of victory.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Yeah, but you can understand why he's a bit grieved,
developed right, Like you understand why, like you know, you know,
I mean there if they were going to be fee
and scheduling, they probably would have put the teams. I mean,
I know they can't at the beginning.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
It's still a better, right, but you know, Friday, Friday
night maybe you know early sorry Friday early early morning
maybe and then and then correct the Captain's run. Uh
and then you know, go Commercial Bay and and you know,
enjoy the Awklord nightlife, and you know that would be
(32:25):
a great time. They'll probably be partying tonight as well,
after the down, the down, the Morns and.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Game as well. Easy easy, But I'm sorry, so.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
You can't seriously give the Bruins a chance tonight and
the team their names is useless.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
I think they're gonna I think honestly, on paper they
don't look the greatest. But I think something's gonna happen
to night.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
And I think that.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
Being a true you know, I'm not sure the Queen's
end to buy, you know, or anything, but I've always
supported them, and I just think that something's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (33:01):
It's gonna be a lot I don't know if they
will win it, but it's gonna be a lot of fireworks.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
It's gonna be a lot of I don't think it's
gonna be such a crazy game as it wasn't for yourself,
well as it.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
Was in game one. That's that's what I'm reaking anyway,
And you know, I'm willing to I'm willing to bet
with you that I just to hit the heat class.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
Yeah if the if the Maroons win, you have to
wear you know, I have to wear Queenslan drewes. You
don't have one, because I'm sure you don't have one,
But I'll wear you know, I'll wear light blue shirt
the next episode. Instae Queensland sucks of the time right
here if if New South IDs win, But you to
do the same if you're willing to do it, if
you're confident.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
I'm very confident to be honest with that. Yeah, a bit,
is it a bit? Yeah? Absolutely? All right? Right U?
Speaker 2 (33:48):
Yeah, well good, all good.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
So yeah, no, I think that something something I don't
I agree on paper and that the greatest side. But
I think that something something's gonna happen. Something something, something,
something surprising is going to happen. That's my it's my
pick for tonight. But yeah, I mean I can't have
that much to say just Cape Well was a good game,
(34:12):
because I mean I have to admit that the Queensland
team has been pretty disappointing.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
It's been controversy.
Speaker 3 (34:18):
Around this game anyway, you know, with the whole Billy
Slay the comments, comments or saga with Andrew Woods calling
him a grub, and then he came back and said
some stuff.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
So I mean Andrew Woods calling him grub. I mean
it's Andrew Woods anyway.
Speaker 1 (34:32):
Yeah, Andrew Woods or Aaron Woods.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
Oh Aaron Wood.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
See like you said technical issues and now you know,
naming issues like you said episode what is that?
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Andrew Woods? What Andrew Woods?
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Anyway? Some tips and out here? Yeah, Friday Nights just games,
spun game, Tigers, Tigers, Raiders backing the the the Tigers
from up sit here or the Raiders to continue their role.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Nah, Raiders to continue the role.
Speaker 3 (35:06):
I mean the Tigers have lost their you know, key
playmaker in Lawai because he's been called back into Origin
now that Metroll Moses has been ruled out.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
I think he's been named for Friday.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
But also it happens, Yeah, I mean, I mean he
can he can Beck. I mean I don't know, I
mean depends how the game goes. It's I mean, like
I obviously knew I played Origin, but I'm just saying
I couldn't. I couldn't imagine how how how hebe a
told the body takes on the game you know, after
hit games.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
So yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Anyway, Yeah, these guys are used to it, always played
so many games so before, so he's used to say
maybe he knows what his body and what he can
do and what he can't do. But I still think
even if he does play, you know, it would be
a sore, tired body. So I think, yeah, I still
give them the Raiders.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
Yeah Morris, I'm saying, yeah, Morris painters up neat both.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
Ye was all day mate?
Speaker 1 (35:56):
Dolphins Knights, Dolphins put another team?
Speaker 2 (36:00):
Do you have to ask me? Do you have to ask?
Speaker 1 (36:03):
It's horrendous. I'd say Dolphin's fifty pass in the Knights
under four nayen points or something like that. Yeah, Rabbits
Storm in Sydney. Obviously the Rabbits you are come up
for lost to the Bulldogs. They'll hopefully have the child
back Cory Mitchell. Still, I think he's still so Alan
(36:23):
did though, so they put an up against the Storm.
Speaker 3 (36:27):
Or yeah, nah, I mean Storm has got a few
players away as well from from Origin. But I still
think that the Storm have still got a lot of
players that are not playing Origin. You know that I've
just done really well. You got hues, you know, tell her, Yeah,
a lot of players there. They are just yeah, they're
not playing Origin. They are still ready to go.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
So now I go to the Storm, I'm gonna go.
Rabbits will be upset. Yeah, it could be the team
around point in the season, Broncos Sharks up nixt Bronco's
found a little bit of form in the last game
and he came of a buyer. The Sharks did pick
up a win on the on the weekend against the Dragons,
but they were pretty lucky to I think they were
(37:11):
down eighteen sex in the first half or something like
that and looks of the trocious. But fortunately for them,
the Dolphins kind of and the Dragons kind of threw
it through the second half away and gave them the win.
Who you go on this one?
Speaker 3 (37:25):
I know, Broncos. I was really surprised that the Dragons
lost that. I remember watch in the first half and
they looked really good and then I'm surprised when I
thought the score that in the final score, I was
really surprised. I was like, what, what what the hect
has happened here? But yeah, I thought even though the
Sharks one, I still giving to the Broncos. I don't
think the Sharks are in any good form to be honest.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
Yeah, with the Broncos as well. Roosters Cowboys up next. Obviously,
both teams have working a few few origin players back
since Sydney.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Yeah, Roosters, I got.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Cowboys and finally Eels Titans Moses obviously, and the Titans
will be full of full of joy after them when
it's mainly I'm gonna go to Titans.
Speaker 2 (38:13):
And yeah, I'm Titans as well.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
We saw how bad the Eels were without their main
playmaker in the sides on the start of the season,
so you made a difference when he came back.
Speaker 2 (38:25):
I mean not saying winning the games, but you can
see the difference that he makes.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
So with him out, I don't think, you know, they
could really replicate anything good they have done the season.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
So yeah, Titans, Titans, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Times as well. Perfect. That's another week of Catch Warriors.
