(00:11):
Hi, I'm Lorraine from Gracious MountainTherapies. Welcome back to Echoes from the
Mountain. Creative Sparks, the podcastwhere we explore the incredible power of hobbies
and crafts and the natural world tonurture our mental health and well being.
(00:32):
I believe that whatever passions that wepursue outside of our daily routines, whether
they are creative, sporting, walking, or gardening, can be our strongest
allies in finding joy, building resilience, and weathering life storms. Last week,
(00:57):
we explored the world of concer Tsugi, the beautiful Japanese art and philosophy
of repairing broken pottery with gold thatholds a powerful message for our mental health
and wellbeing, embracing perfect imperfections inour lives. This week is all about
(01:22):
nurturing our creative sparks, finding mindfulnessin the resilience of nature, and harnessing
the power of vision boards. Ican hear some of you sighing and saying,
I am not creative. Hang onin there. A vision board is
(01:42):
just one of the tools that canhelp us harness both our creativity and resilience.
A vision board is a visual representationof your goals, dreams, and
aspirations. It's a collection of images, words, and objects that inspire you
(02:07):
and remind you of what you areworking towards, whatever your interest, hobby
pursuit is. A vision board canbe made up of pictures from magazines,
print outs from the internet. Creatinga vision board is an act of mindfulness.
(02:29):
It requires you to slow down, focus on your intentions, and connect
with your deepest desires. As yougather images and words that resonate with you,
you are essentially curating a visual mapof your inner world. Creativity isn't
(02:51):
just for artists or musicians. It'sa spark within all of us waiting to
be ignore. It's about expressing ourselves, problem solving and finding new ways to
see the world. Okay, sometimesthat spark feels dim, life gets busy,
(03:16):
stress builds, and we forget totap into that well spring of imagination.
But fear not, because today weare reigniting those creative embers, no
matter how small they are. Agreat way to awaken your creativity is by
(03:39):
spending time in nature. Take awalk in the woods, sit by a
river, or simply gaze at theclouds. Nature's beauty and complexity can inspire
new ideas and connections you might neverhave thought of otherwise. But nature offers
(04:03):
more than just pretty scenery. Itis a testament to resilience. Think about
it. A forest fire may ravagea landscape, but over time, new
life emerges from the ashes. Seedsthat lay dormant for years suddenly sprout,
(04:30):
creating a vibrant ecosystem once again.A single tree can weather countless storms,
its roots growing deeper with each challengeit faces. It bends with the wind,
adapting to survive. Even the smallestcreatures demonstrate remarkable resilience. A spider
(04:57):
diligently rebuilds its web after redisruption, never giving up. Nature teaches us that
setbacks are not the end, theyare opportunities for growth and transformation. We
too can learn to bend, notbreak when face with adversity. We can
(05:24):
find the strength to rebuild, justlike the forest after the fire. And
how does this relate to our creativesparks? Well, when we tap into
nature's resilience, we realize that ourcreative spirit can also rebound from any obstacle.
(05:47):
We can find the courage to tryagain, to experiment, and to
explore new avenues of expression. Sohow do we go about making a vision
board. Firstly, you will needa base, something like a large poster
(06:09):
board, corkboard, or even adigital canvas. Next, you will need
to look out some images photos, magazine cutouts or printed images of landscapes,
animals, plants, or natural elementsthat resonate with you. Think forests,
(06:31):
mountains, oceans, waterfalls, flowers, wildlife, anything that appeals to you.
Look for inspirational words or quotes aboutnature, peace, or tranquility when
you are out and about, lookfor other embellishments that could you could use,
(06:57):
such as natural materials lie like leaves, twigs, pressed flowers, or
even small stones or shells. Then, of course you will need adhesives,
glue, tape or pins to attacheverything to your board. It is possible,
(07:18):
of course, to buy ready madevision boards at some of the larger
retail outlets out there. Okay,so we have our vision board, our
images, words and objects. Nextwe need to set our intention. Take
a moment to reflect on why youare creating this vision board. What aspects
(07:45):
of nature bring you peace, Whatdo you hope to manifest in your life?
What is your goal, dream oraspiration. Now, gather your materials,
collect your images, words, andother materials and begin to arrange them
(08:07):
on your board. You can createa collage, a grid, or any
other layout that feels right to you. Experiment until you find an arrangement that
speaks to you. Once you're happywith your arrangement, attach everything securely to
(08:31):
your board. Enhance your board withnatural materials or other embellishments to add texture
and dimension. Place your vision boardsomewhere you will see it often, like
your bedroom, office, or aworkspace. Your vision board can evolve as
(08:56):
your goals and desires change. Feelfree to update it as needed. By
creating a nature themed vision board, you will have a constant reminder of the
beauty and tranquility that the natural worldhas to offer. It can serve as
(09:20):
a source of inspiration and motivation asyou seek to bring more peace and balance
into your life. Placing your visionboard somewhere you will see it daily reinforces
your goals and keeps you motivated. It serves as a constant reminder of the
(09:45):
resilience you have witnessed in nature, the creativity you possess, and the beautiful
future you are creating. As weconclude this episode of Echoes from the mountain.
(10:05):
I invite you to step outside, immerse yourself in nature's resilience, and
rekindle your creative sparks. Start thatproject you've been putting off, try a
new hobby, or simply allow yourselfto dream big. Remember the mountain echoes
(10:35):
with endless possibilities. Tune in nextweek for another journey of inspiration and well
being. Until then, may yourpath be filled with creativity and resilience.
