La última vez que alguien vio a Reinier González con vida fue su madre, por videollamada, el 2 de julio de 2021, él desde Santiago de Chile y ella desde Cuba. Un mes después, partes de su cuerpo aparecieron a la orilla de un río a 400 kilómetros de distancia.
Al principio nadie lo extrañó porque sus asesinos siguieron usando su celular haciéndose pasar por él, pero ese detalle también, fue el que los delató.
