(00:11):
Welcome to the cross Roads Podcast.I'm your host, JayR. Gleff,
joined by my beautiful sisters, Tanya, the original, older Sister, Keisha,
the Remix, a Val the micdrop. What's up, sisters,

(00:32):
baby brother? Right, oh man, that's that's the one thing that didn't
change, right, right right,I'm Els and always the baby brother.
Evany Princey gets up. Yes,oh man. So just a really quick

(00:56):
introduction, y'all. Welcome to thefirst episode of cross Roads Podcast. And
again we are just here to tellour story. It's a lot of twists
and turns, a lot of twistand turns that we haven't even experienced yet,
that that we are looking forward to, and a lot of a lot
of events that we've come to cherish. And we got a story to tell.

(01:23):
And like like I said, it'sit's really just a story of love,
loss, forgiveness and family, y'all. Don't y'all don't know to have
so really quick, I'm gonna puty'all on the spot before we start.
And I didn't tell y'all on purpose, Oh boy, I know you what's

(01:48):
what's right? What's the fun ofbeing a little brother If you can't y'all
create some heavy start pot a littlebit all value. First, I thought
you was the origin, though, that's change what you got what you got?

(02:10):
All right, So we're gonna we'regonna start our story from where we're
gonna start our story. We're gonnado a lot of backflashes. We're gonna
do a lot of forward flashing. But for now, in one sentence,
what would you say has been themost profound thing you've gotten out of this

(02:32):
whole experience? One sentence so muchbecause anybody so, And one sentence I
would say, I love no commentsmy first paragraph. The most profound is

(02:59):
how much I look like you andmy sisters. Okay, you ain't lie
about that, Tanya. For me, it's been a joy not to live
in my head but from my heart. Mm hmm yeah, Keith, there's

(03:23):
power in speaking up sooner to createa different experience. H m hmm.
Okay, well I just asked thequestions. I ain't gonna oh man,

(03:46):
I don't know. For me,it would. It's really taught me that
that's saying you never miss what youyou can't miss what you never had is
bullshit. M So, I mean, although you know we cherish what we
do have. You know, Ido miss what we didn't have at a

(04:09):
certain point. So yeah, thatyou got such that's such a great point
because I lived most of my lifelike that, Jake, So it is
I lived that. That was mymotto. Really, I remember you sharing
it with me too bad, Likeyou know that you kind of set yourself
up too. That was a wayto get through life, right, Absolutely,

(04:31):
that's how I function. You know, well, I never had it,
so I don't miss it. I'mgood. I went this far about
it, right, So I'm good. Yeah, man, yeah, yeah,
right, but I feel you likeI did too. But it was
a wake up call because we gainedso much during this journey, right yeah,
And it seems like it's been somuch longer than it really has been,

(04:56):
right, So it's almost two years, and it's like, wow,
it feels like we've been together forever. Yea almost three almost three almost three,
which is still short, like reallyyeah. So speaking of which Val,

(05:17):
this tell the story of how wefound out about where we are now
officially official story, okay, yeah, right, and other episodes we'll talk
about the chatter, right and forclarity, we're talking about when it was

(05:40):
confirmed that Vale is actually our sister, because there's definitely more before that.
Now you want to share, Ibelieve you should share, Yeah, sister,
Yeah, yeah, I got rankedover you. That's fine. You
can. You're gonna chime in anywaywith your your part. Sen It so

(06:00):
all good. Yeah, it wasan interesting thing, so uh, I
feel it. It's deserving of alittle background, which is Dal and I
had already been in contact prior toDecember of no, prior to October of

(06:24):
no. October of twenty twenty,I think it was October. Yeah,
old contact, but just not ona regular basis. I called Val on
the day after Dad's transition, soour father passed away, and to let
her know. And in that conversationI also shared with her that on a

(06:49):
Father's Day I had given Dad dadand I took ancestry dot com. And
so if she wanted to finally makeit official and get it confirmed, she
would she could take the test andthen she'd know because all those years she
had not done that, and socan I time in just a moment.

(07:12):
Yeah, so you did not suggestthat you just put it out there that
you took the DAA test, hesaid, just let you know. You
didn't say if you want to,you just got there. I didn't and
I didn't answer. I just actedas though I didn't hear you are,
you know, just like kept itmoving. Yeah, yeah, so so

(07:34):
yeah, well can I can Ijump in? Can do if y'all don't
mind, you know, I don't. Can we all state our ages at
the time, m Yeah, certainly, I'm fifty, I was fifty years
old at the time. Yeah, and I was forty nine at the time.

(07:55):
And I was forty seven at thetime, and I was forty two.
Yeah, okay, gleg you,oh, thank you for that.
Just bring somebody even more clarity. So yes, So in that conversation,
I don't even know if there's moreto really say, except you know,

(08:16):
I did share about Dad. Ishared that we had taken that test,
and then there really wasn't much morethat I can say from my perspective,
because I think the rest should betold from you. Absolutely. So,
when Kasha called me and told methat Dad has passed, Tommy has passed,

(08:41):
I immediately went to her comfort. You know, I acted as though
I didn't feel anything accent, She'sokay, is there anything I could do?
But the truth of the matter wasthat I was actually tearing up.
I was crying because I felt thatI lost the opportunity to really find out
the truth. Right, So let'smove on to the next day. The

(09:05):
next day, I had a heartattack, and I remember being in the
ambulance saying, Oh Lord, Idon't want to learn this way. I
don't want to learn when I goto heaven. I want to learn now,
Like God, please save me,right, you know, save my
life. So after I had to
