Speaker 1 (00:00):
Good day, everybody. You are listening to Cross Talk nine
one one. I'm Pastor Laurie and today's message lovers of self,
just like the Bible warned us. So let us open
our eyes and look around. We are living in the
very days the Bible warned us about. In the last days,

(00:20):
people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive,
disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, and unholy. And here we
are doing just exactly that. The attitude of our world today. Well,
if it doesn't affect me, I'm fine. That's the motto.

(00:44):
We see suffering, we feel a moment of pity, maybe
we toss out I'll pray for them, and then we
move on. Why because it's not our problem. But Jesus
didn't command love yourself and forget your neighbor. No, The
first commandment says love the Lord your God with all
your heart's soul, the mind, and the second is like it,

(01:08):
love your neighbor as yourself. Loving your neighbor means it.
If you see someone hungry, feed them. If you see
someone homeless, help them find shelter. If you see someone
sick and without health care, stand up and fight for them,
advocate for the oppressed. Instead, we've traded compassion for profit.

(01:32):
Look at the pharmaceutical giants, Look at the insurance companies.
Look at the corporations, stripping pensions and jacking up drug
prices until people must choose between medicine and food. The
middle class crushed life saving drugs price beyond reach. Why
because we have become lovers of money profits over human lives.

(01:57):
Look at the food industry pumping poison into our food,
slowly killing people with heart disease, cancer strokes, and autoimmune disorders,
and nobody in power cares because they're cashing in. This
is a sin in action, my friends. It's selfishness on

(02:18):
full display. It's exactly what Jesus and the apostles warned
would happen. And yes, we all sin, but God gave
us free will. We can choose to obey him, repent
and live differently. We can choose to put people over prophets.
But too many are choosing the way of the world.

(02:41):
So this is why you see in today's society lovers
of self, which was prophesied in the Bible. We can
do better, people, we can do better. Let's do better.
