(00:01):
In summer nineteen ninety nine, Isabellais rocked by a surprise visit from her
past. In winter nineteen ninety nine, Isabella's concerns for Megan lead her to
some surprising news. In summer twothousand, family loyalties are tested. Welcome
to Cruel Summer Camp. I likemy bell jingling, Yeah, I was.

(00:41):
I was a little late to recordingtoday, Kelly, because I almost
wore and even Christmas or Christmas sweaterif possible, then what I'm currently wearing,
which is like a cheetah print catLady Christmas sweater, but it was
covered. It has like five bellson it, and I was like,

(01:02):
you know what, I'm not goingto torture the poor people on this podcast
for the sake of my Christmas sweatervibe. So here we are. That's
awesome. I love it so much. I think, you know, I
think at the time of recording this, we're a few weeks out from when

(01:23):
this episode errs, and I thinkI may need to actually go buy Isabella's
tiny little Santa hat on Prime becauseit's just so adorable. I want it
so badly. Don't get it ondiscount too, because I'm sure other than
this Christmas in July festival. Otherthan that, I don't think anyone else

(01:47):
is buying Santa hats, right,so funny. Yeah, I just I
wish my antlers were like a littleeasier to see. I feel like they're
kind of washed out. But that'syou're the antler queen, so that's actually
perfect. Yeah, that's true.I don't know, I feel like maybe
I should have wore my brown antlers. I don't know. Sorry about the

(02:08):
sunglasses everyone, my I'm having I'mhaving allergy issues. I was. I
was a dumb dumb and fell asleeplast night without taking my makeup off,
and I got distracted when washing myface and like just washed my face like

(02:28):
maybe a couple of seconds a littletoo long, and you know, for
people with sensitive skin, that's enoughto basically like set my face on fire.
So I yeah, my eyes arejust like I look like I look
like somebody just branded my eyes.Right, I'm a mess um anyway,

(02:58):
welcome everybody you are watching or listeningto Cruel Summer Camp. The most are
we calling it incrulsive? Now?Yeah? I like that, yes,
most in crulsive Cruel Summer Podcast, where you have to be cruel to be

(03:19):
kind. I'm Kelly and I'm Pamela, and we are so glad you could
join us for Christmas in July.Except for us, it's June right now.
Christmas in July in June, butwe'll be airing in July. I
think. I think this episode we'llbe airing in July. Yes, I

(03:39):
think so too. And we'll alsobe doing a live after show when it
airs, so we'll be able tohave like a fun Christmas in July party
too. So so many Christmas sweatersI own, Kelly, Oh no,
I okay, thirteen, that's prettyclose. I have at least eight,

(04:05):
and then I have some vests.I have some like plaid vests, so
I'll have something else on. MaybeI'll bring out the jingle E sweater.
I have so many options. Whenit's December, I wear a Christmas sweater
because I have so many, Ican wear one like almost you know,
every day. I'm jealous. Guesshow many I have? Zero, Bengo.

(04:36):
It's not it's not deliberate. Idon't know. I you know,
I don't know. I think likeI don't know. I think like I
think, just as ugly sweater partieswere starting to become a thing. I

(04:56):
was starting to lose interest in thebar scene, and I think that might
be why I don't really have alot of Christmas sweaters because I feel that,
Yeah, because like before ugly sweaterswere really a thing. It's like,
you know, Christmas sweaters just weren'tcool to wear. See, I've

(05:20):
always like, I love a sweaterthat's covered in sequence or Ryan stones or
is jingly dangly things like any anythingthat's hanging off a piece of clothes,
the shiny, I like it.So I've always even pree the ugly Christmas
sweaters. I've always been team tackilyembroidered Christmas sweaters. So for me,

(05:44):
I'm like, it's not even forthe parties. I'm just like, no,
I just liked. I just liketo come all shiny infestive. I
gotcha my favorite at work one year, and I was so bummed, like
they sprung it on us without enoughtime for me to get an ugly sweater
to participate in the ugly sweater contest. Um. But we had an ugly

(06:10):
sweater contest at work and the guywho won was one of my pod mates,
and he's so deserved to win.He wore this ugly sweater. It
was a sweater vest and it wasreally ugly, but it wasn't obnoxious ugly.

(06:31):
But what really want it for himwas the zipper because it had these
like these two little pom poms hangingoff of it that looked exactly like testicles.
Oh my god, wait, sowhat was on the whole sweater?
Um? I mean it was ugly. It was ugly. It was it

(06:51):
was unintentionally ugly. It was wasit like a penis Christmas sweater? No?
No, it was just like,I mean, it just looks like
something you know, some senior citizenwould wear. Oh yeah, the pom
poms were not supposed to look liketesticles, but they look exactly exactly like

(07:13):
testicles. Oh that's that's like impressivelyugly then, because like that wasn't manufactured
to be ugly, that's just happens. Those are the best kind because they're
just organically ugly. Yes, Imean we honestly we all should have like
given him one of our our paiddays off just because he deserved it,

(07:34):
because for making our our day somuch more awesome. It's funny. Yeah,
um, but yeah, I meanwe are you know, we're dressed
up because we're covering um episode waitthis is episode five? Right? Yeah?

(07:55):
All I Want for Christmas? Andand god, I'm gonna have that
fucking song stuck in my head now, um I which I'm still I still
a knotsick of after all these years? Can you be? I know,
I know it's my husband and Ifight over it every year. But did

(08:18):
you know Mariah Carry actually wrote thatsong herself? Yeah? Yeah, impressive.
Yeah, it's brilliant, brilliant.I mean it's it's her greatest work
as far as I'm concerned. Ohyeah, timeless, like that song will
outlive everyone, oh for sure?Just yeah, so good. Yeah,

(08:39):
my husband and I fight over itevery year, Like this is you don't
understand this is one of the greatestChristmas songs ever. What does he think
the greatest Christmas song is? Idon't know, but I mean I didn't
even know the man, didn't evenknow Stevie Wonder Christmas songs. And I'm
like, like, it's it's likeall I Want for Christmas and then anything

(09:03):
by Stevie Wonder. That's like myranking of Christmas songs And like why am
I married to you? So yeah, I don't know, but um we
are. I'm gonna I'm gonna havesome more thoughts on the music in this
episode, because I I think myneighbors heard me screaming at one of the

(09:28):
songs in this in this episode,UM, and I guarantee you nobody is
going to recognize it. Um.First of all, I didn't even hear
it the first time around because hewas playing so softly. The second time
around, I had to. Ihad to listen really closely. And the

(09:48):
only reason I listened really closely isbecause I heard something that sounded vaguely familiar,
and I'm like, wait, Iknow this song, So I had
to. I had to really focusand start singing along with it. Then
when I realized what it was,I then I screamed, and um,

(10:09):
it's anybody a little song uh notknown by many called um all the Small
Things by Blink one eighty two.I'm saying that sarcastically for clarification. Yes,
yes, it was not that song. But um, when we get

(10:31):
to the song, I need Ineed you to tell me if anybody knows
this song, you have to reachout to me and tell me because I'm
going to freak out. Um.But anyway, we should, we should
get the people who pick or Idon't know. I'm assuming probably the show

(10:54):
runners like have songs in mind, but I'm like, whoever did even like
music clearance is for this TV show? Like come beyond the podcast, I'd
love to hear from. Oh,I'm gonna be talking to them soon because
like, because if they they Imean the fact that they got this song,
we need to talk. We're goingto be besties. I mean,

(11:16):
I've I've met the songwriter many times, um, and have been to like
I have been to see them inconcert anytime they've gone to Chicago. We
follow each other on social media.I mean, well, we'll get there
when we get to the scene. But yeah, I need to I need
to figure out who's picking the musicfor this show. And we're going to

(11:39):
talk. Um. So I'm coveringsomewhere from ninety nine right, yes,
yes, Okay. So we openwith Isabella writing to Lisa uh and she's

(12:01):
talking about how much she loves theLandries and and how she wishes the three
of them could could all hang outtogether. She's talking about how Luke is
sweet and he's like a real Americanboy. Um, it's very funny.
Yes, she wishes Lisa could bethere for Christmas in July. She would

(12:24):
totally make fun of it with herum and uh. You know, she
reiterates she wishes she could be there, and we see a picture of her
finally yeah, um and then uhand then she like she really puts emphasis
on the fact like she wishes shewere there, wished, which kind of

(12:46):
like set off an alarm bell inmy head. Um and I it immediately
got me thinking that that you mightbe right in this theory of yours,
that that she might not be alive. A lot of my theories proved right
this episode, I'm telling you.Um. Also, Uh, one of

(13:07):
my old original like honestly, probablythe very first band that I said was
my favorite band, Uh, theGoo Goo Dolls was playing at the very
top of this episode very prominently Slideby the Google Dolls. That's a good
one. It's no I risks forsure, but you know slide can't go

(13:28):
wrong with that. That's a goodsong. Isabella's eyelashes in this scene looks
so good. Yeah. I noticedthat, Christine. Every time I watched
that, I was like a littledelirious. The first time I watched it,
I was running on like three hoursasleep. I was just I was
like trying to fall asleep. Iwas like, oh, I'll turn on

(13:48):
the next episode of Cruel Summer, and I in my half like days,
I was like, the eyelashes beautiful. I know that. What time were
you What time were you working onyour notes for that? Uh? Well,
I was doing my notes for thisthis morning, but I was watching
it in a day's um um,at like three thirty in the afternoon on

(14:13):
a Sunday. Oh okay day forme, okay, all right. I
was I was just wondering if wewere working on at the same time,
because I was like, I wasworking on it at like two am my
time. Oh my god. Soyou were also in a days yes,
very much though. Um. Also, did you catch um Isabella's uh uh?

(14:39):
Did they always call it DMan orwas it what was it called?
When us day I am and youdirect message someone UM called DMan? I
thought it was called I thought itwas called private messaging. Oh okay,
private messaging. Yeah. So Lukeand Isabella are talking um and he says,

(15:01):
hey, gorgeous, can't wait tosee you at the Christmas in July.
Christmas in July Okay. If Iwasn't taking notes this episode, Like
the first time, I just watchedit cold, I was like, this
is so confusing. Oh my god. Sometimes it's fake Christmas, sometimes it's
real Christmas, and sometimes we're justignoring that. I also really like um

(15:31):
Isabella's beautiful, colorful eyebook this episode. Man, When I was a little
kid, I wanted one of those, like the super colorful two thousands MacBooks.
They were just like so pretty uncolorful. I always wanted one of those.
Yeah, yeah, definitely. Bythe way, speaking of of antiquated

(16:00):
Apple products, I actually still ownan iPod me too. I still have
my first iPod Do you really?Yeah, I have. I have my
iPod Nano, and I also havemy iPod Touch. Oh my gosh,
do you actually use them? No? Um, one of them is.

(16:25):
The Nano was definitely defunct, andI actually like, I do like collages,
so I collaged it into one ofmy art books. Okay, um.
And then the iPod Touch. I'mnot sure if that works. I'd
have to find the charger for it. It might just be dead. I
haven't tried. I haven't tried usingit, um, I I haven't.

(16:49):
I actually have an iPod because itwell, I mean they don't they don't
make up anymore, of course, but um, I am wondering if I'm
going to be getting new one thisweek because I have one for my um
to control my my battery. Oh, for my stimulator. That's like,

(17:15):
that's what I use to control myinternal battery, my cyborg parts. That
is so funny. Yeah, soI don't know. I don't know what
they're still making them for that purpose, Like they may still even though they're
not making them for commercially anymore, they may still be making them for that

(17:37):
purpose. I don't know if I'llstill be able to use the one that
I have, or you know,if I'm gonna get because I'm getting a
brand new battery. I don't knowif they're gonna give me a new controller
if it's going to be an iPod, if I'm going to get something new,
I have no idea, but that'llbe interesting. I don't know.
But yeah, so I that's interesting. Your your surgery has been super expensive,

(17:57):
and they're like, and the remotefor this will be using your old
iPod from twenty years ago. It'slike, yeah, exactly, um,
but yeah, so um, yeah, she gets an she gets a She

(18:22):
gets an instant message from Luke likeyou said, um Ned is picking up
his lunch at the restaurant, andhe seems to be extremely friendly with Megan.
Yeah, Isabella asks, did CaptainCraig Cray just hit on your hands
your nickname for today's episode? Um. Megan says she's just the only one

(18:45):
who has the patience to deal withhim. Yeah, he tells Megan,
I don't know what I do withoutyou. I don't know, like have
less mustard, like like oh allright. Isabella and Megan are in the

(19:08):
car headed home, and this iswhere I screamed um. The song playing
during this scene is a song calledEars, and it's a song by the
band Cinerama. Cinerama is an offshootof the band The Wedding Present, which

(19:37):
is my favorite band ever. WellI always say it's my favorite band that
isn't Led Zeppelin, Um, becauseled Zeppelin is kind of in a category
of their own, and that's myother favorite band, and I just I
can't compare them to anybody, butThe Wedding Present is The Wedding Present is

(19:59):
my favorite band. Cinerama is likethe kind of the more pop ear version
of the wedding Present and it's thesubgenre. The subgenre of indie pop that
Cinerama falls under is like chamber popbecause it's got like strings and stuff and

(20:22):
um, but my god. Soit's it's basically the wedding Present and Cinerama.
It's basically all the creation of frontmanDavid Gedge, who's just like my
favorite songwriter ever. And just pleasego check out whatever you can buy the

(20:47):
wedding Present in Cinerama. And I'mjust so giddy that this song made it
into the episode. I'm just itmade me so happy. Ears is on
the album Vah Bah Boom and whichis a great album. It's it was
their first album. Um, soyeah, just just go check it out.

(21:11):
Um, Cinerama broke up after heand his girlfriend, his girlfriend who
was the keyboardist, broke up,and then they went back to just being
the wedding present, um because theydidn't really have a keyboardist anymore. And
so yeah, anyway, I'm kindof getting off on a tangent here,
but yeah, just go check themout. They're they're just they're wonderful.

(21:34):
I just can't say enough great stuffabout David Judge and his musicum. But
anyway, they're in the car headedhome and Isabella's asking Megan about the status
of her and Jeff and if they'vethey've made it. Oh and by the

(21:57):
way, sorry to ok if likego back out in tangent. What's what's
interesting is the song um, thesong Ears that's playing during this scene.
It's it's actually um. It's actuallyabout a guy that is he's frustrated.

(22:17):
He's pissed off because he like helives with his he lives with like the
girl he's in love with, andI'm not sure what the situation is,
but he's like, I don't knowif he's like in love with his roommate's

(22:41):
girlfriend, or if he's in lovewith um, or or if he or
if he's in love with his femaleroommate. But he's basically like constantly having
to hear her having sex with thisguy and it's driving him crazy because he's
in love with her and he can'tstand it. And so it's so it's

(23:07):
it's a it's an interesting song tobe playing during this scene. Yeah,
oh for sure. Um. Isabellais asking Megan about the status of her
and Jeff and if they've made itofficial. You know, either by labeling
each other boyfriend, girlfriend or inother ways. And Megan says she just

(23:30):
doesn't really think they're soulmates or anythinglike that. M Isabella mentions that she
doesn't think Loop's too happy about seeingthem together, and she asks if she's
sure there's nothing between them, becauseit seems like there's more of a vibe
between Luke and Megan than between Isabellaand Luke or between Jeff and Megan.

(23:53):
Yeah. Um, it kind ofsurprised me that she actually called this out.
Okay, I did too, Idid too. I was also surprised
just because we've kind of been talkingabout Isabella using Luke to get close with
friends, which I'm still I stillthink, but it was just interesting because

(24:25):
I don't know, I'm like,at first, we talked about her trying
to put Jeff and Megan together sothat she can be close with Luke.
But I felt like, with thisconversation that Isabella must really genuinely, like
beyond whatever kind of manipulation she's tryingto pull in this town, Like,

(24:49):
I think she really does care aboutMegan, and I think that Megan and
Luke should be together, and that'swhy she's having that conversation, I think
that she's not invested in Luke, and she probably is or was using him
to get close to Brent still, although I don't know how Lisa's tied to

(25:11):
Brent. That's kind of frame forme now based on this episode. But
yeah, I think she genuinely believesI don't think she has feelings for Luke.
And yeah, it was an interestingconversation. I didn't expect Isabella to
be so upfront about everything. Yeah, yeah, this this whole episode kind

(25:36):
of just really a lot of stuffin this episode really threw me for a
loop, like just with everything I'vebeen thinking and theorizing lately, and I
am, Yeah, I I wasreally surprised. And I think that if

(25:59):
she is trying to I feel like, if she is trying to kind of
stay close to Brent, I thinkthere's a possibility that she's that she does
have genuine affection for for Megan, and she's thinking now that like, well
maybe she can do it without Luke. Mhm um. But they pull up

(26:26):
at home and Debbie is there talkingto a very handsome young man. Isabella
looks quite stunned to see him.Yeah, she addresses him as Trevor.
He gives her a big hug andsays he had a layover in Seattle.

(26:49):
Apparently they know each other from Switzerlandand he's Lisa's older brother. I did
not expect to get a new characterat this point in the show at all.
This this also really threw me throughthrough a loop. Yeah. Yeah,
exciting though, like to you know, get more intel on Lisa though.

(27:12):
Oh yeah, I was dying forthis because you know, Lisa is
the number one word vomit of CruelSummers. So finally we can get some
real clarity on this girl. Andwe've seen her face for the very first
time start at the start of theepisode. M But you know, it's

(27:33):
like, of course, Debbie inviteshim to stay for lunch because she is
clueless and cannot read a room forthe life of her right exactly. Um.
Megan suggests that that he joined themfor Christmas in July, and there
is a lot of tension there,A lot is just really weird tension there.

(27:57):
Yeah, um meg Or Isabella lookssuper uncomfortable. Um. They they
arrive at they arrive at Christmas inJuly. Um, Isabella has on the
most adorable tiny Santa hat Um.Trevor mentions that he's living in London now,

(28:22):
where he's attending university, and um, Megan runs off for just a
second, like leaving them alone justlong enough to you know, basically not
really get anything any any anything tooimportant out. But he just says that
he's been searching for for months andasked asks if he was ever going to

(28:44):
call him. Um. Luke comesover and she gives him a kiss.
What's huh, I said, rightin front of Trevor. Right. They
shake hands and have a really likeweird exchange here. It's one of those
like, um, I feel likeguy could like I felt like Luke can

(29:11):
definitely tell that this is Isabella's ex. He came in town unannounced, and
Luke is just being like territory, you know, being like you know.
Trevor says, oh, well, like I think she's worth the travel time,
and Luke is says something along thelines of like I couldn't agree more.

(29:37):
Yeah, very funny, very awkward. It was like so uncomfortable,
definitely. We then see Isabella andTrevor sitting at a picnic table while Luke
and Megan are bringing over food.M Trevor mentions that Luke's not her usual

(30:02):
type, and Savella's is maybe she'strying to learn from her mistakes. The
whole group is eating corn dogs together. They're neu logs apparently. Oh yeah,
the branding of this Christmas and Julyevant not very good. Uh they're
just selling corn dogs and chocolate milk. And they're like, but it's Christmas,

(30:26):
so right. Yeah, chocolate milkis as as iced hot chocolate hot
chocolate. Um. One thing thatI thought was like funny production wise.
Um, Trevor makes a comment thatIsabella's clothes are from Abacrombie. Yes,
and um, I mean that that'sreally funny. I was like an avid

(30:49):
Abucrombie and Fitch shopper for years andyears. Um, and I mean if
it was, there's no way thatMoose icon would not be on the shirt.
Yeah, so I was. Ijust thought that was kind of funny.
I'm like, oh, I wonderif they couldn't get clearance to have

(31:11):
the logo on the shirt. Butthey they don't have clearance to get the
logo on the shirt, but theydo have clearance to identify a shirt that's
not from Abercrombie as being from Abercrombie. I was like, yeah, it's
so odd. Yeah, yeah,it is weird. It is weird.
Well, I mean, I guessthey don't say like I guess they don't

(31:33):
say the whole name, so itcould be you know, it could be
anything because it's a last name. That's true. Yeah. Um, but
yeah, she's kind of Luke isasking when they last saw each other.

(31:56):
Trevor says about five months ago,m Lisa and Isabella. Isabella mentioned she
and Lisa met at boarding school inSwitzerland, and they immediately started ditching together
all the time. And I hadto laugh because Megan mentions like she can't

(32:20):
even ditch Jim without feeling guilty. And I immediately laughed about that because I
because of the joke I made lastepisode about her flunking Jim. Yeah,
apparently not. But I mean, honestly, maybe she should. She should
just skip if she's gonna get C. Plus, I mean, you might
as well skip the class exactly.Well. One other thing I thought was

(32:43):
like a funny interaction is um,there's like a group of like, I
don't they're with Luke when Isabella firstgets introduced to Luke in the in the
pilot, but they're not really likefurther established their basically kind of like the
Chatham teen background extras um, andthey're dressed very Christmas e alah mean girls

(33:09):
Santa Baby. Oh well I knowthe blonde girl's name is Kelly, yes,
yes, of course Kelly always remembersanother Kelly yes. Um. But
anyway, so Trevor invites them toall sit together, even though like they're

(33:30):
complete strangers and Isabella. They havea reverse shot of Isabella during this exchange,
and she looks very off put thatnow these strangers are like sitting with
them all, which was also likekind of odd to me. Huh interesting

(33:51):
weird. Um. Now that wasthe guy in the Santa hat. Hmm.
That's that's the guy that we justreferred to as hat dude, right.
I think so he was the Yeah. I think he's the one that
is Backstreet Boys gave me boobs andhe's like, dude, we gotta go
to Europe. Yeah, yeah, that's what I thought. Yeah. I

(34:16):
don't think we ever got his name. I don't think we did, or
not to him specifically. Yeah, yeah that's what I thought. Um,
yeah, there's because there's a Freddieand and Eric. Eric is Eric is
the black Head right? Um,I don't know. I have no idea.

(34:42):
I will figure this out. Iwill figure out the Red Shirts names.
IMDb needs to be updated. Iknow they really don't have it.
They don't have it. Anyone fromPreform is listening. Please update your IMDb.
We are in inquiring minds. Andalso, I'm those those actors are
gonna be up your ass to gettheir IMDb credits updates? Are you're right

(35:06):
to do it? Right? You'relucky my name is Kelly because otherwise I
would have no idea who the blondegirl's name is? Um? But yeah,
so um Isabella. Trevor says thathe mentions that Isabella and Lisa had

(35:27):
come home together for Fault Break lastyear. Isabella mentions that she has already
started planning Ditch Day for that year. Um to see Backstreet Boys in Seattle,
asks Susan, and hat dude sayshard pass that music will give me
boobs, that's so funny. Andthe guy, who I think is Eric
says says, uh wait, whatdoes he say? He's like boo,

(35:52):
yeah, doublebee's. So he's hopingthat that hat guy will will We'll grow
some boobs. So he can playwith them. Yeah, and that they'll
be double d's. Yes, that'sthat's been a lot. That's asking a
lot from the Backstreet Boys. Okay, you know what that reminded me of?

(36:13):
Um? I remember in high schoolI used to always eat lunar bars,
which were marketed as protein bars forwomen, and I knew, um,
a couple of guys that, like, you know, I'd have them
in my lunchbox and if I offeredit to them, they'd say no because
they're afraid they're gonna go grow boobsif they ate. It's like, that's

(36:35):
that's not how that's not how thebody works. So funny. Oh my
god, that's hilarious, so goofyum. But yeah, during this scene,
I mean, Trevor like right andleft, is really eager to point
out every way that Isabella has changed, and Megan and Luke are defending her.

(37:01):
He talks about her clothing coming straightfrom a mall, which is so
hilarious. He's like, you wentfrom like Milan to the mall. I'm
like, I would love to see. I really hope we get a flashback
where I can see the Milan versionof Isabella, because like she must have
been like Inner Gossip Girl era.You know, I was like, I

(37:22):
gotta see that. But he pointsout the Abricarmian Fitch clothes. He points
out that she used to be avegetarian, which he's never even mentioned to
Luke or Megan. She just eatsmeat now. He also said, like
at the very top, he waslike, well, tacky Americana wasn't your

(37:45):
thing either, you know. SoI mean he's just like really aggressive to
point out like all the ways thatshe's changed. And I mean I could
have kind of told I could havetold you that just based on the three
timelines we see and all the wardrobeevolution that uh we alone see Isabella go

(38:08):
through. She's like a chameleon basically. Yeah. So I don't know that
it's necessarily all suspicious, but Imean she definitely like she she goes with
the flow of whatever the vibe ofwherever she is. So she's made a

(38:29):
lot of changes apparently, Yeah, yeah, definitely. Um she uh so
Santa Girl sits down with her icedher iced hot chocolate. Yes, her
iced hot chocolate. I mean literallywhat a rebrand that is just chocolate milk?

(38:52):
Right? Um? And you know, Isabella makes a comment about piking
it, and Trevor says, youstill drink after last winter, And so
Isabella tells everybody that she got drunkin Abitha got arrested for public intoxication,

(39:19):
public urination in a park. Trevorhad to bail her out, she got
kicked out of school and had toleave Europe. Um. I mean she
rattles all this off really quickly, right, I don't think anyone in Europe.
Uh. I'm like, getting arrestedfor being publicly intoxicated and Pean in

(39:43):
a park, that's like not abig deal, okay, like intoxication and
Bitha. Um, I mean Ithought that was mandatory. Yeah. I
was like, no, I don'tthink they'd care, honey. And also
I'm like, uh, I don'tthink that you even really get through.

(40:06):
I don't know, I don't knowwhat private European schools are like, especially
when you're sixteen, Like who knows. But I'm like, oh, what
a I mean, I'm sure thiscould have happened, and Shrevor seems to
go along with it, but itjust seems like he's trying to avoid conflict.
I'm like, that's so what awhat a joke you get in shrouble

(40:30):
in Europe for Peen in a park. I'm like, no, wrong,
oh my god. But yeah,it's clear from his reaction though, that
that was not what really happened.Yeah. His immediate response is like,
we need to talk. Yeah, sure, so Chargar Pulter side, and

(40:54):
let's say they really don't know,do they? And he's like, your
parents wouldn't tell me where you are. I thought you were hiding for me.
She tells him like he was theonly person that she wanted to talk
to, which immediately, you know, immediately makes me think, Okay,
this is this is Lisa's brother.Okay, obviously something happened to Lisa.

(41:20):
And you know, Trevor's like, these you're acting like these people are your
best friends in the world. Andshe's like, well, Megan is I
know. I haven't known her long, but I trust her. I feel
like she means a lot to me. I feel like I can really be
myself around her. And he's like, you and I both know that that's

(41:43):
not possible. And she's like, look, you know last Winner got out
of hand. I didn't understand whatshe said here did she say? I
shouldn't have kept it from Lisa?Yes, what do you think she meant
by that? I think that sheThis episode kind of made me think,

(42:07):
which I don't like love as beingIsabella's characterization. This episode made me think
that Isabella is a little bit oflike a not like a traditional homewrecker.
But I kind of think she gotlike she started hooking up with Trevor and
she hit it from Lisa and thatwhat At least I think there's way more

(42:30):
to it than this, But itseems like Lisa didn't know about their relationship
and maybe was like upset by that. Do you think that maybe do you
think maybe that she and Lisa weremore than friends? Oh? I think

(42:51):
that definitely could be the case. And she was kind of in love with
Lisa. Oh man, Yeah,oh so bad. So then she's like
kissing Lisa and then she's also datingLisa's brother on the slide. That's so
tricky. Yeah, I mean Iunderstand, I understand that there are weird

(43:15):
dynamics involved in dating your best friend'ssibling, Like, um, you know,
Lisa might be really excited about it, or she might not be crazy
about it, Like it could goeither way. Yeah, but either way,
like regardless, it probably is goingto be an awkward thing to address.

(43:39):
Um, but it's going to bereally awkward if she and Lisa are
romantically involved. Yeah, Um,but yeah, I'm wondering. Yeah,
I'm wondering if that's the case,if she and she if she and Lisa
were actually like an item. Yeah. Trevor also said he's seen this movie

(44:04):
before, yeah, which I waslike, Oh, it seems like Isabella
kind of there's like a pattern.I wouldn't be surprised if what happened with
Lisa is a near or whatever therelationship was is pretty similar to like this

(44:25):
Luke Megan thing that's happening now. That's kind of like that was my take
on. What that meant is that, you know, the same dynamic is
playing out like a year later, essentially, gotcha, Okay, Oh man,

(44:52):
oh god, my brain is goingto be like spiraling working this out
later on. So yeah. Soshe says that she shouldn't have kept it
from Lisa. She says she wishesshe could go back and do it all
differently. Trevor says police had somany questions about that night and there have

(45:17):
been rumors, and Isabella tells himthat she loves him and she kisses him,
which he reciprocates, and Megan justhappens to be walking by and in
the distance and sees this. Yeah. Then it it cuts to what looks

(45:44):
like it's probably a commercial break andcomes back and they break off the kiss,
and Trevor says, I love youisn't going to cut at this time,
and he came there for an answer, and Isabella runs into Megan and
she confronts her about kissing Trevor.M Hm, she is not happy about

(46:10):
it. Oh yeah, she's she'sreally upset, like it's uh yeah she
I mean when she was watching them, she seemed really upset. Yeah,
yeah, for sure. Um,you know, Isabella says it was just

(46:30):
to slip up. I'm trying tosay goodbye, right yeah. Um and
uh but like pretty much the likethe next scene that we see in the

(46:52):
ninety nine timeline, Um, isIsabella and Luke at the cabin, right
yeah, so, um Luke prettymuch they kind of like I guess,
part ways from Trevor, and thenLuke, as he read Megan and Isabella
have like a little bit of anexchange. Megan's definitely not convinced, and

(47:14):
then Luke coasts up immediately and itis like, so, do you want
to take this back to my cabin? Yeah, that's his media. Also,
one thing that really piqued my interestin this episode was that Luke is
wearing Branson College shirt. Yes,which is where Brent goes college yep,

(47:38):
yeah yeah yes, and where hedoesn't necessarily want to go to college.
Yeah, where he doesn't, so, which makes me think, like even
more so, I'm like, okay, Like if I was the costume designer,
I would think it would make senseif Steve alls So gave or got

(48:00):
Luke the same shirt because it's hisalma mater and his brothers So okay,
or Luke is literally wearing his brother'sshirt, yeah, exactly, which I
have more thoughts on later in thisepisode. All right, I'm looking forward
to hearing them. So, yeahthey are. Luke and Isabella are at

(48:25):
the cabin making out. Isabella keepsapologizing about Trevor. Yeah. Luke says
it's nothing to worry about. Um. She says he's not going to be
around anymore. Isabella just whips outa condom. Yeah, it says condom
and nice. There's no confusion, yes, unlike unlike the potential condom slash

(48:52):
deflated penises we see in front ofthe airstream. Yeah, a few months
later I noticed that, um anduh and and yeah they go for it.
Um. I I have to say, like, this is the first

(49:12):
time I really noticed when they're likejust hanging out in bed afterward. Um,
like he's talking about, you know, it was his first time,
and and like he's he's worried. He was worried about like impressing her,
and um, she she assures himlike she hasn't been with that many guys,

(49:37):
and it's you know, it's it'sstill a big deal to her.
This is the first time when Ireally noticed, like these two actors really
have a lot of chemistry together.Yeah, they do really really well together.
I like this dialogue too, umit. I was kind of surprised
by Luke's candor being like, yeah, I'm a virgin, and I'm clearly

(50:00):
like Isabella new Slash could tell, but I feel like guys like wouldn't admit
to being a virgin a lot oftimes. So I was like, oh,
that's kind of interesting, and it'sso funny because it's like, I
mean, he's like sixteen years old. It's like, yeah, well,
like, of course you're a virgin. You've only had sex with like a

(50:20):
couple of people. And like theimpression that Isabella, because she's like this
cosmopolitan woman has had like sex withmany people or you know, all had
all these different kinds of experiences. She's like it just was very grounded of
being like, well, just becauseI've had sex before, it doesn't mean

(50:43):
that it's not special or not important. Yea, and I haven't had sex
with that many people, even iflike you think I have. So I
was I just I thought that wasa really sweet conversation, but I was
really focused on the fact that nowwe see Isabella in that Branson College shirt

(51:05):
that might be Brent's. Yeah, that like was just like a little little
bird feed in my hand, inmy theory that it's all coming back to
Brent. I love this stuff you'repicking up in this episode. I love
it. I was like, oh, like, that's just so her.

(51:27):
I mean, you know, theycould have put him in we see him
in plain T shirts all the time. Why Branson college shirt. Yeah,
it didn't have to be there, but it was, and they put Isabella
in it to be kind of youknow, cute and sexy. Or whatever,
but also like she probably does wantthat, you know what I mean.
I'm like, I could totally seeif she is there to get to
Brent. Of course, she's herkind of you know, obsessive ass is

(51:52):
gonna take his shirt home. I'mpretty sure in that shirt she had sex
with him just to get the shirt. Yeah, she did him for the
teacher. Okay, Well that's theother thing I've been thinking about is I'm
like, well, if I wasIsabella, Megan has been an awful liar

(52:15):
saying she's not into Luke. Ifeel like I would know that if I
was Isabella, So then why sleepwith Luke and push the envelope further?
If if what we've been saying, which is that, like she doesn't actually
have feelings for him, is itstill to get to Brent she thinks she's

(52:37):
gonna get to Brent quicker this way, Like I'm like, why why have
sex? I mean, part ofit might just be like if she really
doesn't give a shit about him,and she thinks that like she doesn't need

(53:02):
him to get to Brent, likehaving sex with him and and dumping him
afterward could like and making him feellike shit that way could just be a
good way to push him toward Megan. That's true, you know yeah,

(53:24):
Um, like that could be areally a really easy way of kind of
like just making a hater. Yeah. Um, but where was I going
with this? Um? Yeah soum yeah, but yeah, I really

(53:52):
like these two together. I reallylike the actor that that plays Luke to
Griffin Glass, Um, he's justas he did a really good job.
Yeah, He's just he's very he'sjust very natural, you know. I
Mean his acting is just very subtleand natural, and he just he just

(54:12):
seems like a real teenager. Youknow. Yes, I really like him
a lot, which like free Form, I mean not necessarily since the like
free Form rebrand, but like theABC family of it all that I've known
and grown up with, is youhave like, um, you know,
a thirty two year old playing fifteenyear old and uh, you know that's

(54:37):
totally fine. And but it's notjust looks, it's like how he also
acts. He I think they're justdoing a much better job at finding people
that are genuinely passable and play highschoolers really well. Yeah. Yeah,
for sure, Megan is we seemaking up in her room? Um,

(55:02):
looking at Luke's fake id. I'mnot sure why she's just like, why
she's just staring at Rod at RodLudlum so much? Um, maybe she's
not. Maybe she doesn't have feelingsfor Luke. She just has feelings for
Rod Ludlum. That could be it. Yeah, well he likes fast cars,

(55:23):
some beautiful women. Yeah, yeahwith his character. Um, she's
chatting with with Sea Sea bandage whichwhich which is NET? Right? Yeah?
Which is NET? Which I wasalso right about. Yeah, Like,

(55:44):
man, I'm like for three thisepisode. Seriously, you're racking up
the winds here. Um. Hethanks her for his extra mustard. Hilarious,
But also, why is this adultman like deep? Debbie really needs
to change the parental controls on it. There's something because why is this grown

(56:08):
man private messaging this waitress that getsa mustard? It's like, stop talking
to her. I don't know. It's hacker, it's weird. He thinks
the world is gonna end. Sohe's like, whatever, I'll talk to
any underage girl I want to,right. Um. Yeah. She asks

(56:37):
him if he's ever hacked the fenceand he says it's a rite of passage,
but it's a slippery slope and beforeyou know it, you'll cross the
rubicon. Umzabella, she's already setup her new monitor. Yeah wait,
this isn't no, no, no, she hasn't set up the new monitor.

(56:58):
Oh wait oh yeah yeah this isthe new monitor yet. Yeah.
Though I'm in the wrong timeline,I apologize my bad. Um, I'm
in then I'm in the right timeline, right, Yeah, I think she
is. She does talk to seeBabbage in this timeline, it's just not
on the new monitor. Yeah okay, um okay, yeah, Isabella comes

(57:22):
up. Um she the Christmas thinghas me all confused. It's super confusing.
Um. Yeah. Isabella comes upto Megan's room and she brings up
Trevor says she was just trying tobe a good friend, and Megan says

(57:44):
she knows, and says she's becauseshe's one of the best friends she's ever
had. Isabel's like, uh,okay, bro, yeah, Megan's being
really She asked about Luke and Isabellaand if they had fun at the cabin.
But it's like very awkward. She'sbeen super quiet. Yeah yeah,

(58:12):
basically. Um. Megan tells herthat she realized that when she saw Isabella
kissing Trevor something clicked in her head, and she realized that, you know,
she started thinking about the idea ofIsabella and Luke being over and that

(58:37):
that might be a good thing becausethen maybe there was possibility for her in
Luke. So she's now realizing thatshe might have feelings for Luke. And
as soon as the word comes out, as soon as the words come out,
she's just like she's freaking out thatshe said them, and she exacts
it immediately. Yeah, yeah, she's like, nope, nope, nope,

(59:00):
nope, I take it back.Forget, I forget you ever heard
it? It never happened. Sofunny. I was thinking about her immediately
rescinding what she said, because Ifeel like that is a very uh,
like I don't know, realistic thingto happen, like in a fight or
just like in conversation with your friendyou say something, you're like, whoaa,

(59:22):
actually just pretend that never happened. But I rarely ever see that on
TV, right, Um, butyeah, as well as like are you
sure, like yep, yep, yeah, it never happened. Um.

(59:44):
They end up running into each otherlate night in the kitchen and they apparently
neither one of them can sleep.M and Isabella tells her that she realized
that she's not really interested in arelationship, and seeing Trevor again reminded her
of that, and she says thatLuke and Megan are soulmate territory. Yeah.

(01:00:09):
Megan also makes a Matrix reference,Oh yeah, which Luke had also
made after he slept with Isabella. That's right, Yeah he did. Yeah,
Yeah, very very good call. And that that kind of you know,

(01:00:30):
goes along with the whole soulmate thing. Yeah, meets via the Matrix
movie. It brings you together ifyou're a hacker girl and any guy in
the two thousands, right, exactly. Um, so that is the ninety

(01:00:52):
nine timeline. Thank goodness, wehave one last Christmas timeline to deal with,
only one more to go the otherone. Um, it's just not
Christmas in July and they're in twothousand. They're like, we forego any
of the festivals that were happening inthis town. It's over. So it

(01:01:20):
is genuinely Christmas this time in thenineteen ninety nine winter timeline, and Meghan
and Isabella are an adorable little Christmaspajamas exchanging gifts. Um, Megan gives
Isabella a Polaroid scrapbook, and Isabellagives Megan a brand new, very expensive

(01:01:43):
computer monitor. Megan is cannot hidehow off puts she is by this gift.
It is just so expensive. Butyou know, she seems super uncomfortable
that Isabella spent all this money ona gift and Megan made her something handmade.

(01:02:06):
So I want to I want totalk to you about this, Like,
have you ever been in this situationeither like where you've had a gift
exchange and you've either been in Isabella'splace to orry Megan's place. Um,
yes, actually I have. I'vedefinitely well, okay, one time I
went on a One time I wenton a vacation and um, one of

(01:02:29):
the stops I think was like aperfume factory and they gave men's cologne to
the men on the tours. Somy dad got cologne that he's never gonna
use. And I regifted that toa friend, like as my gift to
him from my vacation, and hewas like, oh, Pamela, I

(01:02:52):
looked up the cologne you got meand like, I can't believe you spent
that much money. I was like, I didn't, and I mean I
didn't I at the time, Iwasn't like, hey, I'm regifting you
this thing that was given to myfather. So then it's like he looked
it up and I guess it wasexpensive. It wasn't that big, it

(01:03:14):
was like, you know whatever, but he just felt very uncomfortable with the
price of the gift until I essentiallytold him it was regifted. But then
also, I like, there's definitelybeen gift exchanges with me and my best

(01:03:34):
friend where like interchangeably, like dependson how busy I am or and vice
versa. I think like there's beentimes where she'll and our birthdays are a
day apart. So there have beentimes where like she's spent maybe like seventy
five dollars on a birthday gift forme when I've given her something handmade.

(01:03:57):
But I've never felt like that hasn'tequated out because sometimes I feel like my
manual labor of this thing that umI handmade, not to shit on Megan's
Polaroid scrap book. But it's likeI put in a little bit more work
than that, you know, SoI'm like, Okay, well, then

(01:04:19):
I think it's kind of balanced.And also it's like we're at a point
in our friendship where it's like, well, you know, sometimes I can't
afford this and and I don't havetime to make a gift like that.
And it goes the other way too. So sometimes I've spent a lot on
gifts for her, Like this pastyear, I got her just like a

(01:04:43):
bunch of little things that I thoughtshe would really like that all you know,
added up. Um. But thenshe handmade me of Barbie that uh,
it like has my face on itthat she she printed out a picture
in my face, put on thebarbie the barbies in the box and it
has like stuff I like in theBarbie box. So it's awesome he handmade

(01:05:06):
something for me when I So itgoes back and forth essentially. Um.
But I mean that's like one ofmy best friends who like were very comfortable
with each other, and that's likemore of a secure thing. Um.
But yeah, I've had like otherfriends where maybe I like kind of spent
a lot on a gift and they'relike, oh that's a lot, uh

(01:05:30):
or I or I didn't spend anI'm regifting it. Yeah, Like I
don't, I don't know. Ijust I didn't know how to feel about
this. Because like I feel likethe fact that I mean, okay,

(01:05:55):
yeah, it's Megan is taking ahuge hit, or I mean, Isabelle
is taking a huge hit for Meganwith whole sex tape and everything, but
she is She's living with them, you know, they're giving a replace to
stay. They've gotten super close.I mean, I feel like at this

(01:06:25):
point in their friendship and this isthis is a girl who comes from tons
of money is more than happy livingin a tiny, little airstream trailer.
Like I feel like, based onjust their friendship, if it were another
type of friendship, I feel likeit would have been inappropriate. Yeah,

(01:06:49):
but I feel like I don't know, I just I just I just felt
like in this case, I didn'tfeel like it was an inappropriate gift.
I agree. I understand with Like, I mean, it is fresh on
Megan's mind because of the burst pipeand that offer, So I can see

(01:07:15):
how it's kind of like salt inthis wound from Megan, and I understand
like why she feels uncomfortable, butalso like money doesn't mean that much to
Isabella. So I mean it's reallylike what is the value of money versus
what's the value of like time, spent on a gift. You know,
it's like how do you balance thosethose things? Right? If Isabella doesn't

(01:07:42):
money doesn't mean that much to her, then I think it is like more
acceptable or it's like a little bitmore balanced for her to just give this
gift that's like no sweat off herback, you know. And meanwhile,
Megan gives her a handmade gift thatshe spent time on. Um, So

(01:08:04):
I don't know, because it's liketime is still money, you know.
Yeah. I mean I mean ifshe had given like if she had given
Megan like a piece of jewelry orsomething, then I would be like,
yeah, that's kind of weird. But yeah, I mean it's she gave
her a monitor, was something thatyou know, she obviously put a lot

(01:08:25):
of thought into. Yeah, somethingthat Megan would really appreciate. Um.
I don't know. I just thoughtin with these particular circumstances, I thought
it was nice. In another situationit would be inappropriate. I agree,
Yeah, I think. Um.Yeah, So we see Megan next editing

(01:08:49):
her report cards C plus on thenew monitor, So clearly she's not not
offended enough to uh not unwrapid itand set it up. Um And I
the one thing I the one thingI was right about. It was history

(01:09:10):
that yeah, so yeah, itwas history that she got the C plusant.
Yeah, so funny. I gotat least one thing right in this
episode. History is so easy. It's just memorization. I'm like, girl,
what's not to whatever? She's busy, She's busy, gained drunk,
hanging out with her friends. SoIsabella comes up and she's like, you

(01:09:32):
know, Megan says something along thelines of like, how am I supposed
to compete with a gift like this? And Isabella's like, well, you
don't have to compete. Um,I mean I think that is a perception.
It's a perception thing again. Um, but Isabella also, I mean,

(01:09:57):
just based on the prior conver station, like should have seen this coming.
You know. It's like if Meganwon't accept I mean, five thousand
dollars, four thousand dollars for thepipe burst is definitely more than the computer
computer monitor, I'm pretty sure. But it's like if she won't accept money

(01:10:21):
during an emergency and that makes herhave to go stay with Brent, like
then she's not gonna don't turn aroundthe next week and spend you know,
I don't know, maybe two thousanddollars on a computer monitor for her.
So it's kind of like, well, she should have read the room a
little bit. Yeah. So afterthat, though, Megan is just being

(01:10:46):
really off putting. She doesn't wantto talk about Luke with Isabella, she
doesn't want to hang out with Isabella. She says she picked up a shift.
It's Christmas kinda. She's just actingvery distant. So Isabella goes to
hang out with Debbie, who's makingsome cookies. Isabella asked about Steve,

(01:11:12):
which kind of flagged for me thatother theory that we had from last week
that potentially Isabella wants Debbie to getback with Steve so that she can keep
those connections to Brent. And theminute she asked about Steve, that was
like a red flag for that thatidea in my head that I was like,

(01:11:32):
oh, yeah, you're keeping trackof, like what's going on with
this relationship? What else? Isabellaasked Debbie to borrow her car. It's
so funny. Debbie's like, yeah, sure, go ahead. I'm like,
I guess you really do. Justtake her in as one of your
own, and you're like, gofor it, honey. Well, she

(01:11:53):
saw it. She saw Megan comedown looking a little too cute for work.
Yeah, so she's like the present, She's like, she's not going
to work. I needed to figureout where she's going. Oh yeah,
something suspicious is going on. SoIsabella decides to follow Megan. Megan at
first it looks like she's going toLuke's cabin. And then when we return

(01:12:18):
to this timeline, Isabella is lookingaround and she sees trees that have a
spray painted line across them. It'skind of weird, I'm not. That
reminds me of when, like, you know, trees are gonna get knocked
down, but not really sure whatthat's about. There's also cameras set up

(01:12:41):
in the forest, so I meanIsabella is walking over onto Ned's property.
She parks like I take it,kind of like in front of Luke's cabin,
and then she walks through the woodswhere the cameras will definitely catch her
on camera, over to Ned's house, um, which is also really pretty

(01:13:03):
and um. She watches Megan atthe door with the Christmas gift we saw
earlier that presumably we thought was forLuke. Um. He Ned opens the
gift and sniffs it. I thinkit's like a candle his nose, So

(01:13:23):
I presume it's a candle maybe mustardscented he loved um and then Isabella water
or excuse me, Megan goes in. Yeah, So it's not even if
she was giving him a gift, which is already like really strange. She's
not just dropping it off or watchinghim opening it, open it and then

(01:13:46):
leaving. She's going in with him, um, which is just so weird.
Right. It makes me wonder ifMegan. I'm like, I don't
think Freeform would do this, butI'm like, I wonder if she's having

(01:14:06):
she's actually having an affair with Nedand baby is Ned. Oh God,
I hope not. I don't thinkthey would do that. I don't think
they would do that, especially sincethis episode. I mean, this season

(01:14:27):
just is fraught with you know, underage sex and filming in child pornography,
etcetera, etcetera. Like, Idon't think they would do that, but
very suspicious, very very suspicious, which brings us to the next scene where
Isabella invites Luke over and Isabella tellsLuke everything, which is further driving home

(01:14:56):
that earlier conversation in the episode priorwhen Luke tells Megan like, well,
you know we as in Luke andIsabella are talking about Megan when she's not
there. Yeah, so uh,Luke agrees Megan's being really distant and Luke

(01:15:16):
Luke also wants to know what's goingon between Megan and Ned. Okay,
wait, I have a new theory. Okay, maybe because I really don't
think that free form would put Nedand Megan together. I think though this
could be the driving wedge between Lukeand Megan that Isabella has been looking for.

(01:15:44):
Potentially, um, that's gonna reallyruin their relationship. Maybe maybe Luke
will think that Megan is like sleepingwith Ned and that will like really like
mess up their relationship. Oh man, Oh god, that's that's gonna get

(01:16:13):
weird. Yeah, for sure,it's already weird. I mean, just
I keep going back to that commentwhen Ned was like, what would I
do without you? I'm like,whoever? I know? I mean,
I will confess I know I knowa little bit more than you do at

(01:16:34):
this point. Um, so Iwon't like, I won't allude to anything.
Ok but I do also, butI do also no little enough that
you know, there's still possibilities forall that you're saying. Okay, interesting,

(01:16:59):
yeah, um but yeah, yeahyeah, this Meg guy is she's
creeping me out. He's a weirdo. So Isabella and Luke are talking just
as Megan comes home. Luke kindof chalks it up to being like,
oh, I was just waiting foryou here to give you your gift,
which doesn't seem like Megan as agift for him. I just kind of

(01:17:24):
buddy, right, Um, wedon't get to see what Luke got her
as a gift, unfortunately, wouldlove to know what that is. Let's
see. Isabella leaves the room andthey're just kind of like talking. The
next time, we're back in thistimeline. Um, Debbie is putting away

(01:17:45):
Isabella's clothes, which I was like, I don't know, Debbie's like not
very on top of things, butshe puts away Isabella's clothes for her,
Like Debbie is just such a enigmaof a mother. Yeah, and then
she's you know, like mother likedaughter, Like I mean just you know,

(01:18:11):
wait, is that this timeline orthe other time? Yeah? Yeah,
for sure. Everyone at this point, every every woman has snooped in
each other's living quarters. Yeah, she's just like, yeah, yeah.
So she opens up the drawer. Then she sees all these postcards that have
never been mailed and don't have stampson them. Um. Isabella walksing catches

(01:18:36):
her UM and Debbie asked her aboutthe unsent postcards, and Isabella says that,
um, Lisa's out of the countryand um, she's going to mail
them when she gets back. Butshe says that, you know, that's
her thing she does with Lisa, and Lisa UM just sends her her postcards

(01:18:59):
like one at a time. UM. Debbie's like, oh, that's interesting,
I haven't seen those postcards, butIsabella says she just eagerly grabs them
from the mail box before Debbie getsthem. Yeah. I've been saying Lisa's
dead. I'm like, come on, she's dead. Yeah, go dead.

(01:19:26):
Lisa train everyone she is she's nolonger with us, umpe nope,
and then UM, Isabella and Debbietalk a little bit about Megan. Isabella
is really down to talk to anyonethat will listen to her about her woes
with Megan. UM. Debbie assuresher that Megan will come around though.

(01:19:48):
UM so now Megan, um,excuse me. Isabella goes to Megan's room,
Megan her true crime book, andthere was something so funny that happened
in this scene. I don't knowif you got it. Was it the
lie Yes? Did you know themusic? No? What was the music?

(01:20:14):
As soon as she brings up lielet the music changed to like the
really sinister music. See. Ifeel like they're bringing it up for a
reason. I feel like, Idon't know. I guess we saw Luke's
body, so it didn't speed upcomposition, But I don't know. It's
just interesting. It's like you gaveher a true crime book. She's reading

(01:20:39):
about all this stuff. It couldjust be all these red herrings to make
us believe that because Megan read atrue crime book, she'll be good at
covering up a murder. That couldbe what it is. But it is
interesting that they even, like, kind of bothered to spend a little bit
of time talking about speak up thedecomposition of a body. Yeah. Um,

(01:21:04):
so Isabella I think gives a prettygood sincere apology. Um, that's
pretty understanding of Megan's position with thegifts. Um. She says that,
uh, she wanted to get herfriend a gift, but instead she made
it all about herself. Yeah.I feel like that's very understanding. And

(01:21:30):
I mean like no one can reallychange the difference of the finances um of
Megan and Isabella. So I meanI feel like this is as good as
it's going to get to being likean understanding. Um. So that was
interesting. Um. Then Megan ismessaging um C Babbage and he says thanks

(01:21:56):
for the extra mustard. So thatis in fact Nedum oh wait, no,
I'm sorry, I got my time. Wait, this happened in a
timeline. We are right, he'sthanking her. He's thanking her for the
mustard again. Again. That man'sobsessed. Um. Yeah, so that

(01:22:19):
happens sometime. I got a littleconfused. I have that it's in winter
ninety nine, but it's I probablyjust messed that up. I think that's
the summer ninety nine. Um,let's see. Oh okay. So then
our next scene, um, weget is uh Isabella joins Megan eating some

(01:22:45):
cookies. Um. There's an acousticcover of All the Small Things. I
did not like that. Yeah,I don't like that. That's something from
season one. They were doing acousticcovers of songs. I didn't like that
either. I don't like it.I don't like it. I'm like,
just play all the Small Things.Like and also that that's not the right

(01:23:09):
song for this moment period. Butif you were going to play any version
of All the Small Things, justplay all the Small Things. So I
have to share a funny story aboutthat song. Yes, So I was
in a cover band for a whileand we were playing with my friends with
my friends band and my friend Richand Rich was the front man and Sean

(01:23:39):
was the bassist, I think, and they were they were about to go
into All the Small Things, andin Rich goats this next song, it's
about John Stick. I immediately goadult small thing. That's so corny,

(01:24:01):
it's like fifth grade humor. ButI cracked up. Um man, I
love a good dick joke. Yeah. Yeah, but uh, what's a
sweet scene now? Yeah, thisis a sweet scene. Um. Megan

(01:24:24):
tells her that the monitor is incredible, and Isabella says that the photobook is
one of the best gifts she's everbeen given. Yeah, very sweet.
I feel like they reached an understandinghere and everything's all good again. And
then that's that's it for the Winterof ninety nine. Yep. And you

(01:24:45):
know, I I don't think Isaid this during our recording, yet I
think I just said this while wewere chatting before the episode. But I'm
feeling really scared by this episode becauseI'm feeling like some PTSD from season one,
and I used covers really since Iwas jiggered. I was like,

(01:25:12):
oh no, I'm just like i'vekind of been and I've kind of been
an Isabella apologists all along. ButI just I really was heavily sympathizing with
her in this episode, and Ijust I was feeling really triggered during this

(01:25:34):
episode because I'm feeling like, Okay, they're really casting a lot of suspicion
on her, which is making mesympathize with her even more because it's making
me the more they cast suspicion onher, the less suspicious I am of
her, Yeah, because it's tooobvious. So it's making me feel bad
for her, which is making methink, oh god, I'm being set

(01:26:00):
up to like basically feel like we'regoing to find out that she's this horrible
person. The only kind of likeamendment I think is for my theories is
I thought Lisa might have killed herselfbecause she was in a Brent tape.
I mean we're about to discuss thesummer of two thousand, but pretty much

(01:26:25):
like, that's not I don't thinkthat the show will have that Luke committed
suicide and Lisa committed suicide, bothby drowning. That's that'd be like so
weird and coincidental. So I'm like, one of these I think that Lisa's
death could have I don't know.I think there could have been a fight

(01:26:48):
and things got out of hand andLisa was maybe murdered. But I'm like,
I don't think both both of themurders can't be suicides. Both of
them can't be complete accidents. Someonesomeone, even if it wasn't Isabella definitely
did have the intention to kill oneof these two characters. Yeah, yeah,

(01:27:15):
um I uh oh man, I'mlooking. I'm excited for you to
watch the next episode. I can'twait. I'm I just keep getting um
already frustrated that I don't I can'tjust finish the whole show. There's there's

(01:27:38):
a lot of insight in the nextepisode. Oh okay, great, great,
Yeah, but uh so, anyway, we get to the summer of
two thousand and Isabella is sitting withRebecca and looking at a newspaper and on
the front page is a story aboutMegan and it says Megan Landry, person

(01:28:02):
of interest in Chamber's case pregnant.Um. Isabella is not happy about it.
Mum, she scolds. Rebecca says, you know he told me that
you would talk to me before beforeyou told anyone, and like I had
to strike back. Um she Isabellatells her someone planted the money, but

(01:28:27):
Rebecca is like, not necessarily buyingit. Yeah. Um, we were
right about Rebecca releasing the pregnancy information. Another thing we were right about.
Also, Isabella's like, I thinksomeone's trying to frame me. I'm like,
that's Brent, Yeah, exactly right. Like I I believe her when

(01:28:48):
she says that, and I thinkit's Brent. Yeah, yeah for sure.
Oh so the bag of money,I'm like, we know that Luke
eventually has plans to run away.Maybe maybe that money was for him to
run away and Brent found it andrelocated it. Yeah that's possible. I

(01:29:13):
mean, you know it's possible thatlike maybe Luke even took it, yeah
totally. Oh yeah, he couldhave just taken it from Isabella knowing she
won't miss it. Yeah. Yeah, that's possible, because I mean it's
not like, you know, ifhe's running away from home and like severing
all ties. He's not a richboy anymore. He needs the money,
right Yeah, but uh yeah,I mean it's yeah, so it.

(01:29:43):
She swears that the bag and themoney were in the air stream before they
found Luke's body and then it justdisappeared, and someone's trying to frame her,
and Rebecca says, we both knowyou have a lot to hide.
We then see Megan sitting on thesteps outside and Isabella comes up to join

(01:30:08):
her. Um. She says she'ssorry. Megan asks how she found out.
Isabella says she found the tests inher bathroom on ears, so she
definitely was pregnant. Um. Anduh, Megan said, I didn't know
ride or Diamond digging through my trash. Yeah. Um. She says,

(01:30:33):
we're in a bad place and Iwanted to know why. Um. I
actually I'm pretty I'm pretty sure Ido know why. Um. But Megan
says, it, you know,it was convenient that it took the heat

(01:30:53):
off of I'm finding the stuff atthe cabin. Um and she tells her
that she hasn't given up on theirfriendship. Megan calls her delusional. Yeah,
and that their friendship died a longtime ago and there's nothing she can
do to resuscitate it. That isharsh. Yeah really and this was such

(01:31:18):
a like fraught conversation just oh loadedloaded loaded Yeah, yikes. Megan tells
Debbie that she needs to tell Isabellato leave. Oh real quick? That.

(01:31:39):
Yeah. Another quote from the IsabellaMegan conversation I found very interesting was
the more they find out about youthe night this is Isabella to Megan.
The more they find out about youthe night Luke disappeared, the more they
find out about me. Yeah.Yeah, so that whatever Isabella's hiding,

(01:32:03):
I think that Megan also knows andliterally isn't disclosing. Hm, yes,
definitely. Um. Yeah, SoMegan approaches Debbie, tells her she needs
to tell Isabella to leave. Shecan't stand to be around her anymore.

(01:32:26):
Um, why Debbie fixed me up? I really can't stand Debbie. Wait?
Why is she still living there atthis point? I don't know,
Debbie, And what's Debbie's response? But where will she go? Debbie?
It's like, come on, Isabellais rich, She'll go to the Ritz

(01:32:47):
Carlton, Like, I don't evenunderstand why she's still living there. I
don't know. Well, I understandIsabella wants to fix things, and I
feel like the best way to fixthem is by constantly running into Megan and
trying to, you know, doall that. Um, but I don't

(01:33:09):
know why Megan and Debbie haven't askedher to leave earlier, right, Um.
I just I also don't understand, though, how Debbie can be so
sympathetic to Isabella for for this.I'm like, are you kidding me,
Debbie? I know, yeah,I know. I mean, that's that's

(01:33:31):
your daughter, you know, Likeyeah, I mean, I I don't
even if you think that she's beingtoo harsh on Isabella, this is a
girl that you really like. Evenif you feel sympathetic toward her, you
have like she's not your concern.Yeah, she's not your daughter. Yeah,

(01:33:55):
like tell her the fuck off?Who cares? Exactly? Like,
I mean, even if your daughteris being an out of, out of
control bach, I mean, likeyou have you have a relationship to to
focus on with her, Like,oh my god, some of these characters,

(01:34:19):
man, Debbie, just yeah, she's but Megan, Megan tells her
what she needed to tell her, though. In the scene, Um she
uh, which is which is basically, um, well for I mean,
first, Debbie says she wishes thatshe would have told her about the pregnancy,

(01:34:39):
and she asks how it resolved itself. Megan, you know, doesn't
want to talk about it. Umdid did you catch that in the uh?
In the previously on for this episode, when Jack uh announces that you
know, he knows Megan was pregnant. That's voice over over the bloody sheets

(01:35:04):
that we see that Isabella digs outof the trash that Megan threw out.
So to me, that was likea confirmation of another theory I was right
about. I'm like, wow, this is like the episode where I got
everything right, which is like Ithink that was kind of like a miscare

(01:35:27):
I think it was a miscarriage.Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's uh,
that's that's a good call. Um. Yeah. Meghan basically doesn't want
to talk about it, and Debbietries to tell her, you know,
she's there for but Megan's like,Megan basically tells her, you're so focused

(01:35:50):
on being neutral that you've forgotten thatthere are sides and you need to pick
mine. Yeah, which she does, even if it's not the right side.
To pick. You need to becausethis is your daughter and the other

(01:36:10):
person involved is a person that youmight never see again. So just yeah,
tell her to fuck off and dealwith your daughter. It's like,
really, ditto. This conversation alsoover to like the Steve Chambers of it
all too. Yeah, like shejust needs she needs to remove herself from
that situation point blank, because Ithink that just makes it even messier of

(01:36:33):
being like, oh, it's myboyfriend and this is my daughter. It's
like, what just focus on peoplethat are your blood relatives. You're focus
on your kin Debbie. Oh mygosh, she doesn't long for this world.
Maybe, yeah, he needs tofocus. Yeah, I mean,

(01:36:56):
have you seen how she's like haveyou seen how she's gone from cute girl
next door to like emo hacker.I mean, come on, Debbie,
Debbie, she's going to some darkplaces. Debbie. She's gonna be listening
to the Cure soon. Yeah.Oh truly, I'm choking. I'm joking

(01:37:17):
when she needs to way to MarilynManson, it's over. Yeah, yeah,
she's yeah, she's gonna be deadin a week. Next she's gonna
be smoking pot. Oh God forbid. Well, I think Debbie's doing that,
so let's hope. Oh wait,no, Debbie, No, Debbie

(01:37:41):
smoking too much pot. Debbie's astoner. Yeah no, I think I
think Megan needs to be Megan's theone that needs to be smoking pot.
Debbie needs to lay off a pot. Yeah, she needs to give her
pot. She if I know,Megan needs to confiscate Debbie's pot and then

(01:38:03):
just smoke it. Yes, exactly. M Debbie approaches Isabella. Isabella tells
her she never met for the newsto get out her lawyer went rogue.
Um. Debbie tells her she thinksit's best if she stays somewhere else while

(01:38:24):
this all plays out. Isabella tellsher Parker's already on her way to pick
her up, and there's something underher meaning Isabella's bed that Megan wanted to
get rid of, and she shouldask her why. I think that's the
bloody sheets. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh. Isabella starts packing her

(01:38:51):
up her stuff, and this islike the most distraught we've ever seen her.
Yeah, I mean, she's reallyshe wasn't telling the truth when she
was like, oh my things arealready packed up and Parker's picking me up.
It's like I don't think that wastrue. I think she's just trying
to remain calm because I mean, then look at the state she's in.

(01:39:13):
Yeah, yeah, she's in.I don't even think we've seen her like
I mean, she's been like prettymuch like calm, cool and collected,
yeah, this entire time, andshe's just kind of a mess right now.
Um. I mean she's she's she'sreally upset, she's she's crying really

(01:39:36):
hard right here. I mean she'sjust completely distraught. Yeah. Um,
and um she I mean I like, I mean, is it like,
is this all is this just allhitting her? Because she just is it?

(01:39:59):
Is it? I mean, doyou think it's all just hitting her
because she lost her best friend Lisaand everything is like just kind of reality
is just kind of crashing down aroundher right now. I think so.
I think also Debbie's opinion did matterto her. Yeah, and Debbie is
kind of like the last person onIsabella's side. Yeah, So now that

(01:40:24):
Debbie's gone, I feel like Isabellagenuinely does feel completely alone, and she
like if she's staying there to keepcontrol over Slash, try to improve her
standing with Megan. It's like, well, then now that there is spatial
difference like that, rift will justgrow. I think, yeah, yeah,

(01:40:48):
yeah, I mean she you know, she just lost her second best
friend. I mean not physically, but I mean not like, yeah,
she didn't die, but like that, friendships pretty much on. Rebecca and
Isabella are together again. Rebecca getsoff the phone and tells Isabella that was

(01:41:10):
the Paris office. The Sheriff's beendigging around asking questions about Saint Bart's.
She says she's trying to contain it, but it's only a matter of time
before someone talks, which has happenedalready. Megan's at home when she gets

(01:41:36):
a letter from Trevor which reads,Dear Megan, when I heard that Luke
had drowned, I knew I hadto contact you when I was in Chatham
last year, I realized you didn'tknow the full picture. I'm sorry I
didn't fill you in sooner, Trevor. Included in the envelope is an article

(01:41:58):
about Lisa's death by drowning in SaintBart's and her obituary. Yep, she
was with a group of friends ata busy beach when it happened. I
actually I wrote down all the text. I paused it and wrote it down
nice like me to read that theonly thing I could see on the obituary

(01:42:19):
was our beloved daughter Lisa passed awaysuddenly January ninth, nineteen ninety nine.
But the article you can see alittle bit more. It says for many
people, the waters off the coastof Saint Bartholomy are a relaxing escape from

(01:42:41):
life stresses, but for one youngwoman, that escape has proven fatal.
Local police, along with the searchand rescue officials, have confirmed the body
of seventeen year old Lisa Cole hasbeen recovered from the waters off of Shell
Beach. Divers from the Search andRescue brigade located the girl's body in shallow
water in an area popular among localsand tourists. According to family members,

(01:43:04):
miss Cole was visiting the beach witha group of friends at the time of
her drowning. A popular and respectedhigh school student in Gustavia, miss Cole's
death has shocked this tight knit islandcommunity. A spokesperson for her family said
Lisa was enjoying time off with herfriends between semesters and was looking forward to

(01:43:25):
attending university after high school. Thedeath has raised questions about how a young,
healthy individual could drown in such apublic, busy, public area frequently
frequented by large numbers of people. And that's pretty much the last full sentence
you see before it talks about thecoroners report, and then the rest is

(01:43:49):
completely blurry. Wow. Yeah, man, what a gut punch. Yeah,
I'm like, oh man, butwhy didn't Trevor send this sooner?
You know? Like I'm like,if you see, like I mean,
this story, like beat for beatseems just like what happened to Luke?

(01:44:15):
Yeah, how do you not Idon't know, how do you not see
that? Like about to win foldand say something Yeah, um, it's
well, well, what's weird aboutit though? Is is like I mean,
they there are a lot of differencesthough, and it's it's odd that

(01:44:42):
he, like, what what didhe know about Luke's death exactly? Because
I mean did he know that?Did he just know that Luke drowned?
Or did he Because if he knewany more than that that, he wouldn't
really I wouldn't see him like makingcomparisons because Luke was there was a gunshot.

(01:45:06):
Um, Luke was planning on runningaway from home. He was alone.
Um, he wasn't with friends whenhe died. Um, like there
were there were a lot of differencesfor me. I was like, I
feel like Luke, Well, Imean I think we're going to find out

(01:45:27):
he was with friends when he died, Okay, I think he was with
people. He was coming fresh offof that New Year's Eve party. Um.
Well, I mean when I sayalone, I mean I mean,
yeah, I think somebody. Well, I don't think he was like with
people in the sense that I thinkLisa was with people. I mean I

(01:45:48):
don't think Yeah, yeah, itseems like Lisa was literally like at a
crowded place and drowned. But Imean that's all the more reason I could
see someone someone really purposely drowned her, Yeah, and like pulled her under
the water and kept her pulled underthe water or did something. So I'm

(01:46:10):
really excited to see what's what elseis in that article? What else are
we gonna hear about from Trevor?Yeah, man, um, it's all
Rebecca. She's behind it all.I mean it kind of is. She's

(01:46:33):
like definitely a fixer and like thatLisa's death happened in like an extremely populated
area, like that's hard to getaway with Yeah, but I'm just like,
I'm bothered now because how does Iwant Brent to be linked to this
so badly? And after this episode, I just don't. It's a grandson

(01:46:57):
college shirt of it all. Man, I'm telling you, it's still there.
It's still there, and maybe we'llsee that now that she's potentially with
Parker in the next episode. Imean, I wanted, like I wanted
Brent to be linked to Lisa somehow. I know, I know, I
really got thrown the minute they introducedTrevor and kind of like this romance between

(01:47:21):
Isabella and Trevor that kind of threwme through the loop of like, oh,
so you mean like Lisa's death doesn'tdoesn't have anything to do with any
of the stuff that's been established inthe first four episodes. Yeah, which
is fine. I get it thatdeath is happens all the way across the

(01:47:43):
globe from Chatham. But I wasjust hoping right exactly. I mean,
I guess it's possible that, youknow, Brent could have been on vacation
in Saint Bart's totally and made asex tape of Lisa and she was going

(01:48:04):
to like, I don't know, she was gonna. He thought she was
going to out him or something becauseshe found out and he drowned her,
and Isabella suspected him, and soshe followed him to Chettam. But I

(01:48:26):
mean there's a reason that she pickedchett him. Yes, I still I'm
I'm holding strong on the Brent theory. I mean, also, like,
do we really believe that Brent andIsabella maybe they're lying about not knowing each
other, maybe they do previously knoweach other. Yeah, yeah, I

(01:48:53):
don't know. I still think Isabellais the one that made and played the
sex tape though, Yeah, I'mstill leaning in that direction too, um,
which you know, as an Abella, as an Isabella apologist, not
really too happy about because I mean, it's child porn Isabella, come on,

(01:49:17):
yeah, I mean it's that's that'sserious business. She does seem like
she'll really do anything to get thingsto go in the direction she wants them
to go. And though yeah, she and Brent are similar in that they
lack they lack a level of responsibility, just like I mean that quote that

(01:49:40):
the previously on played yet again uhin this episode, which is that you
know, when you break a glassat the Chambers House, it gets fixed
the next day, like it's nothing. It's the same for Isabella, you
know, the privilege of just beingso wealthy and having this fixer that will
just clean everything up for you,you you know, I think allows her

(01:50:03):
to do a lot. I couldalso see Brent. If Brent's not tied
to Lisa, which is like, realistically, I feel like that is shrinking
for me. But if he's nottied to Lisa, I think he is
definitely tied to Luke's death. AndI could totally see that the pills that

(01:50:29):
kind of their muscle relaxings. Icould see that, like maybe Brent was
going to try to rape someone andthat was something meant for Megan or for
Isabella so that they wouldn't be ableto escape him. But instead Luke,
I don't know, if he likespiked a drink. Maybe it was something
Luke drank instead, and then hegot in the water and drowned, and

(01:50:53):
Nudge shoots at him because he lovesMegan. That there's a little trigger happy.
I feel like I feel like Icould see the gun action coming from
Ned. Yeah, yeah, Icould. I could see that happening for
sure. Um, yeah, we'redefinitely going to see more of Ned.

(01:51:14):
I can tell you that much umNed and his craziness and mom. Okay,
well that is uh that is episodefive all I want for Christmas.
Um as of right now, Junetwelfth, Um, it is two days
before my surgery and we have twoepisodes left. I don't think we're gonna

(01:51:39):
be making it through episode six andseven before our surgery. So no,
probably gonna be uh be seeing someuh some some couch recaps um some some
