an Ocean Inside Me. In theCurl Summer fandom wiki, there is a
notes in trivia section, so Ithought it would be fun to start reading
these for the episodes. So thisone's called an Ocean Inside Me. It's
(03:38):
episode six, and the notes inTrivia section notes that this is the first
episode to not feature Olivia Holt asKate Wallace. This is the first episode
to not open with a trigger warningor close with a support helpline. M
The title was a line said bysome in Turner when referencing her inability to
(04:01):
express that she thinks Jeanette is guilty, and Cynthia is revealed to have a
sister named Susan. So let's justget into it. Uh, it's good,
good God. So in nineteen ninetythree, Jeanette is setting the table
(04:25):
for breakfast, like she's putting pastriesand out and stuff, and Derek is
is like, basically it's their parentsand anniversary and they're trying to like,
you know, do something nice forhim, and Derek is like, yeah,
just just wait, they're going tocome out out of the bedroom in
a few minutes with messy Harron andand yeah, sure enough they did.
(04:49):
And you know, it's sad becauselike they were still happy, like they
were yeah, like literally a yearprior. Yeah, wild yeah, and
they toast to a lifetime of morehappy anniversaries. So it's like, well,
how happy could they have been ifit's all completely obliterated in like a
(05:12):
year? You know, Yeah, yeah for sure. Then that we see
Jeanette Mallory and Vents, they're they'relocking their bikes up and they're all excited
to uh to go see Jason Goesto Hell, which is really which is
definitely going to be the last Fridaythe Thirteenth movie. Oh definitely. Yeah.
(05:35):
There's definitely no other Friday the Thirteenthmovies after that. I cracked up
because I just I think I waslike in junior high when the very first
final Nightmare in elm Street movie cameout and we're like wow, Like my
(05:56):
friends and I were like Wow,I can't believe there's not going to be
anymore that's so funny, like giveit a literally a year. Yeah.
Actually, I mean it's more it'sit's Vince. Vince that's geeking out about
seeing the movie, and yeah, girls are not interested. Yeah yeah,
(06:17):
but Vince is like number fourteen sneakinto a scary movie, which I like
it. Totally forgot that that's athing when you're a kid, because you
know, like that's how we gotinto theaters to see scary movies. We
would like go get tickets for like, yeah, we'd get tickets for some
(06:38):
like kids movie and then just sneakinto see you know, whatever movie.
What movies have you snuck into?Kelly definitely whatever Nightmare on Elm Street movies
were out when I was in juniorhigh. I don't remember. I don't
(07:00):
remember what else it was. Itwas too long ago. But yeah,
she definitely snuck into one movie andit actually wasn't a horror movie. And
actually, I I don't know.I think we did it on purpose.
We said we were going to seeThe blind Side Lay, but I think
what we actually saw it was likeit was like a raunchy rom com and
(07:26):
it was called like the Truth aboutMen or something like that. Interesting,
it wasn't very good, but Imean we really tried to like sell it
to like my friend's mom that likethat. We were like Sandra Bullock,
She's just so good. It's likeno one's like asking for that, but
we just like kept being like, yeah, blind Side was so good,
(07:46):
Like it was so good. It'slike, yeah that why are you why
are you trying to sell that? You saw Sandra Bullock. That's so funny,
That's hilarious. I love it.But uh but yeah, Vince is
pointing out that, you know, they have to sneak into a scary movie,
and and then Mallory of course pointsout that they haven't done thirteen yet,
(08:11):
which is stealing something, so theyneed to make sure they take that
that one first. But Jeanette alreadystole Martin harris Is yearbook, so she's
she's off the hook for that, right, and uh, Vince is Uh,
So Vince decides he's gonna shoplift aCD from the mall He's gonna get
(08:33):
a Loose Fair CD. Yeah.Yeah, and you know, they point
out that everything that Mallory added tothe list is illegal, and and Mallory
is just like, well, youknow, they already budget for the losses.
So it's a victimless crime, itis, I mean, you know,
(08:56):
yeah, don't say when it's amajor company. It's like, you
know, Also, I live inLos Angeles. We don't really care about
theft unless it's like over three hundreddollars, so cares. It's fine,
Just take it, take it andrun. No guns involves just walk out
of the store with with your stolencrap. And like, no one who
(09:18):
works at like Target or any ofthese places, Like I mean, if
you are working at Target, likeI hope you're not chasing people that are
shoplifting, Like, come on,You're not neating enough for that, so
like just go. Also, Inoticed, so I watched this episode twice
(09:39):
this week and in the previously youknow, I'm a fan of discussing the
pertin pertinence of the previously on class. Yeah, they show Jeanette getting Kate
Wallace is scrunchy, and there's likeno scenes of that. So watching it
the episode earlier today, I waslike, why include that she's wearing Kate's
(10:01):
scrunchy in this scene? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
you're right, Okay, that makessense. So yeah, so Malory
and Jeanette are. They're in somechanging rooms and they see Martin Harris shopping
m and Tanya Peterson is is basicallyfitting to Neil's mom is fitting in first
(10:28):
suit and Jeanette Jeanette's like, Jeanettepoint him out. Malory's like, whatever,
I'm stealing these clothes. Yeah yeah, She's like, well he doesn't
work here, like who cares?Yeah, but you know, Jeanette is
on high alert because Martin Harris islike the morality police of the town with
(10:50):
yeah, no kidding and yeah Malory. So Malory wraps a shirt around Jeanette's
waste and uh, Tanya, Andthen we see Tanya inviting Martin out for
dinner, but he's not really interested, but she's really pushy. Yeah.
(11:16):
He literally says no, and she'slike, oh come on, yeah,
okay, yeah, like he Imean, he doesn't really want to date
one of his students parents. Likeso he's right, anyone that's actually his
own age exactly. But it providesa good distraction for Malorie and Jeanette.
(11:41):
Right, yeah, so I thankyou. Yeah. So yeah, there
we have be able to sneak out, and Martin reluctantly, you know,
decides okay, fine, whatever,we'll we'll I'll have a date with you
or just dinner. I'm sorry,it's just dinner. Yeah, it's just
a dinner. Yeah. So Ilove when people do that. It cracks
(12:07):
me up. I'm like, like, have you ever have you ever turned
down a date before and someone waslike, it's not a date, it's
just it's just dinner. Like no, I've never turned down a date like
that. I have been in aposition where someone was like someone I didn't
want to go out with was likeoh, Like they were specifically like,
(12:33):
oh, you're not going to thehigh school I go to. Damn that's
a shame, because if you were, I'd ask you out. And I
was just like okay, okay, then a shame. It was like anyone
if they're like, hey, doyou want to go out and go out
on a date and I was likeno, and they're like it's just dinner.
(12:58):
Whoa, Like I'm running away now? Oh yeah, yeah, now
I've I've I've had a few ofthose. I'm just like, what the
hell, man, you're out. It's like you're asking me on a date.
Just don't it. Yeah, justbe like and you got rejected,
just let it go. Yeah, yeah exactly. So they meet back up
(13:20):
out at the record store. Justas Vince is walking out with the CD.
He's walking out so casually. Alsolike CDs electronics, those are not
the things to steal, like trulylike bad bad pick Yeah, Mallory with
that gun that removes the tags. Now that that's a good one. That's
(13:41):
that's a good move. I actuallyhad a really cute bathing suit I got
on like a whim basically like fora work event. I was staying at
a hotel. I realized they havea hot tub, and so I was
like, great, I'm gonna goto Target. Just grab a bathing suit
(14:01):
and just like getting this hot tuband like make it, make a time
of it. So I just gota bathing suit. It looked great on
me. I paid for it.I did not steal this, okay,
but they left the security tag on. But I was like, so hell
ben to get in the hot tub, I was like, who cares?
Like, I just tucked it in. It's like, you know, on
(14:22):
like my hip. So I tuckedit in and then I was so nervous
for such a long time to goback to Target with it and be like
because also I couldn't find the receiptanymore, so I was like, purely,
they're not gonna like let me takethis off. And it's such a
cute bathing suit. Like if it'sgreat, I don't want to rip it.
Finally, eventually I came in.I had this long winded I was
(14:46):
like, hey, so like Ibought this, like it's on this credit
card, but like I don't havethe receipt, but like they never took
this tag off like you and theywere like, yeah, sure, give
it to me. Wow, Likeoh okay, oh my god, that's
funny. I mean they probably figurelike if you actually stole it, you
(15:07):
would never go back there, nah, go back and be like and be
like lah lah lah lah blah. You know yeah yeah that that. Yeah.
But yeah, so like Vince is, you know, he's strolling out
just casually, but the alarm goesoff right away, and yeah, electroc
don't steal alon, you steal things, don't steal electronics, Yeah for sure,
(15:31):
I mean, yeah, the securityis way too high, but yeah,
security comes after them, and Jeanettegrabs the CD and tells them to
run. This is such an interestingscene because like she takes the CD for
him, and he's like run. It's like, you guys all just could
(15:54):
have started running. Yeah, youliterally all just could have ran, and
I think everyone would have gotten away. Yeah. Probably. But she's got
a little like she's like, she'sgotten a lot smile on her face.
Yep, Yeah, she's she's smiling. She's she loved this, which is
(16:19):
so bizarre, Like she just shereally wants to be a troublemaker. But
you know, she like she getsbrought into the like the security room,
and Jamie's there, of course, yeah, and she like so she faced
(16:42):
her talking and she's like she saysthat, you know, she got in
trouble for shoplifting, and he gotin trouble for jumping into a fountain as
part of a dare. What isit with curl Summer and people jumping into
fountains? People? The kids lovethe kids of the nineties, if there's
(17:06):
anything we know about them, theylove jumping in bodies of water. Well,
in the it crill Summer in seasontwo, it wasn't even one of
the kids it was it was itwas Jane Chambers. Oh yeah she did
wait did yeah, she jumped ina fountain and then she got yelled at,
Yeah, I think you know ofall the other I mean lots of
(17:30):
the Ice River Challenge or whatever. The ice Challenge thing is what I was
thinking of. Yeah, I totallyforgot Luke's mom jumps in a fountain,
and that's like a fond family memory. Yeah, that that she got chased
out and fight fight, she gotchased by security for jumping. It would
(17:51):
have been really funny in this sceneif Jamie was like sopping wet, Yeah,
that would have been really funny. It would have been funny if he's
like soaking wet scene in the chairand he's like, hey, what's up.
They've really this scene in particular,I feel like is so insightful to
the relationship they have. I actuallythink that Jeanette and Jamie have like probably
(18:15):
way more in common than Jamie andKate do. Yeah. But also I'm
like, you know, between thisand like you know, Kate makes that
joke of like, oh he'll doanything for a dare, it's like he's
just like so childless. They're childchildless. So well, he as a
(18:36):
child. He's so childish and soreckless. It's just it is like and
it's like and it's funny and cuteright now, but I mean you see,
in a couple of years, likeit leads to like not very good
behavior, like he's very unstable.Yeah, but it's just like it's a
(18:57):
really cute scene because they have likeso much rapport, you know, yeah,
yeah, for sure. Yeah,And she's like she's self proud of
herself too. He's like, youknow, he says that he asks if
she gets into a lot of trouble, and she's like, well, I
make trouble. I just usually don'tget caught. Yeah, and he's like
(19:21):
really like what yeah, and likeyou know, she introduces himself herself,
but like he's like, yeah,I remember so, which I'm sure probably
made her feel good. Like, you know, the cute older boy remembered
meeting her in the mall yeah, other day when she was like freaking out
of her kate but so yeah,so like before she can even tell him,
(19:47):
you know what kind of trouble shegets into, Greg shows up and
she explains to him that, youknow, she basically took the fall for
Vince, and she seemed really genuinewhen she was saying, like, you
know, he's my friend and hewould do the same for me, and
(20:10):
I mean, she seems really genuineabout it, but so I'm sure part
of like, I'm sure part ofthat was motivated by that, but I
think mostly she just really wanted toget into trouble. I think so too.
I think that is how she justifiesit to herself. Yeah, but
(20:30):
I think that underneath it and maybeshe doesn't even realize it at this point,
but underneath it all, she reallyjust wanted to have a close call
and see how close she can getbefore she gets in like big trouble.
Yeah, yeah, for sure.So like Greg decides that, you know,
(20:52):
if if they tell Cindy, she'sjust going to call Vince's grandparents,
and so that's just a bad ideathat they they'll just keep it between us
between them, which which is kindof like Greg's typical, you know,
go hit, that's his go tofor Jeanette. I think that it's so
interesting to see that in this episodewith the twenty fourteen twenty fourteen, excuse
(21:18):
me, nineteen ninety four timeline, because we start to see their marriage deteriorating.
I think that this like the parentsnot being on the same team.
It feels like daddy and daughter versusmommy a lot. I think, like
we see that here, but Ithink that like in general, just like
(21:41):
of what we see of like Gregin the nineteen ninety three timeline, like
him and Jeanette are like this, and I think like Cindy and Jeanette have
that, but it goes wrong whenGreg is like having secrets with his daughter
and not being like he's putting hisdaughter above his wife essentially, you know,
(22:03):
and not being like a partner toher. Yeah, so the marriage
is marriage failing is all his fault. He doesn't he doesn't tell her about
about Jamie hitting her either. Ohyou're right, and that's like that's really
bad. Yeah, yeah, forsure. But yeah, so there,
(22:26):
you know, he's he decides he'sgonna like he I don't think he ever
punishes Janette like no, and hedoesn't classic classic dad behavior like Daddy's girl
Daddy. Also when the first thing, when the first thing Jeanette says when
(22:48):
Greg questions her is it was Mallory'sidea, which is like, you know,
also again, it's like I thinkwe're starting to see the beginning of
like the frame of this friendship oflike it is it's like it's funny it's
funny she like wants to blame iton Mallory because I think she's she is
(23:11):
already like over Mallory at this point, like the bad vibe seeds have already
been planted between them, and now, like if if Greg had been like
you know, in Jeanette's head,I think what she would have wanted is
for her to say, oh,it's Mallory's idea, and to have her
(23:33):
dad be like, well, Idon't really like Mallory. She's not a
very good friend to you, andlike this is all her fault, you
know what I mean. It's likeshe's like looking for another person to justify
why she shouldn't be friends with Mallorybecause her mom has already like obviously been
like, well I don't like Malloryand like you can get other friends,
(23:55):
and Kate Wallace wants to be yourfriend. I'm sure, Like, you
know, I just think she's lookingfor another person to condone like abandoning Mallory
essentially. Yeah, you know what'syou know, what's actually really a shame
when I think about it. Ibet if none of this ever happened,
I bet Kate and Janette would havebeen good friends. I think so,
(24:18):
I think, like I just especiallythis episode when we see like Jamie and
Janette, Like, well, Ithink Jamie and Janette would have been friends.
Also, I think three of themlike could have been pals. Honestly,
Yeah, but yeah, no,I could totally. Like it makes
way more sense Kate being friends withJanette than it does Kate being friends with
(24:45):
Tanilah in particular to Neil, butalso Renee and I mean Jamie, like,
I mean, he's cute, butlike I really I don't know like
what she saw in him. Yeah, yeah, for sure, Yeah Kate,
Kate, And I mean, youknow, Kate was obviously Janette you
know, just thinks Kate's amazing andlike wants to be her. But you
(25:11):
know, but Kate was super niceto her, and I think that she
would have gotten along better with Sheprobably would have like enjoyed having Janette as
a friend more than Renee and Neil. So like, I'm sure if this,
if none of that ever happened, they probably would have ended up being
good friends. Like they probably wouldhave complained about their moms together, you
(25:32):
know, Yeah, we're both groundedand like, I don't know, I
feel like Kate would appreciate how sillyJanette is. Yeah, yeah, I
think so. I think so.But so, Jeanette's in her room and
(25:52):
she's she's going through a closet andVince is with her, and he he's
like, you know, kind ofstill in shock that she covered for him.
But she's like it's a good deal. Like this is so funny to
me because when you when I waswatching this back, she explains to Greg,
(26:14):
like so casually, like, oh, Vince is my best friend.
He needed me to help him,Like I'm there for him. I do
this, he'd do the same forme. But Vince is like shocked.
And that's not to say like Idon't think Jeanette has been a good friend
to him. I think she isa good friend to him. I think
she genuinely does believe, like thisis what she is willing to do for
(26:38):
the friendship, like her own desireto get in trouble aside. You know,
I think she she does just likewant to support him and help him.
But like, it's it's interesting tome that Vince is so shocked by
it, because I think it showsthat, you know, this is kind
of like beyond the reach of theirfriends ship. This is like a little
(27:02):
a little extra, and he seesit as being weird. It's not like
a normal thing that they do.Yeah, And she's like, she said
that he would do She told Greghe would do the same for her,
But I don't think I don't knowthat he would have. Yeah, I
don't, but yeah, I meanyeah now, but yeah, they she
(27:30):
starts complaining about about about Mallory andand and oh and before before she does
that, like basically, Vince iskind of over the whole, like he's
kind of frustrated the whole illegal thing. He's like, yeah, my shoplifting
days are over. Yeah, yeah, Vince, like just I think,
like, of the whole list stuff, Jeanette was like the most vocally weary
(27:55):
to do illegal stuff. Obviously,Mallory's game for it because she put it
on the list. Jeanette's minds getmind gets changed about it over time.
Obviously she's very into it later, but Vince like really isn't He might have
liked quietly like kind of said nothingabout it, but he's like not game
(28:15):
for this stuff. And it's likejust so obviously more of a Mallory thing
than it is for him. Yeah, for sure, And like you know,
it's I almost kind of wish thatit was brought up, because I
think now people are more aware, including kids. I think even kids are
(28:38):
more aware than they used to beback then. But it would have been
it would have been nice to seesome kind of conversation where Vince would have
been like, like, look thatthings like this have more consequences for me
than they do for you, youknow, like it's he's he's a black
kid in Texas, it's you know, I mean, if I were to
(29:02):
Net, I probably would have Iwould like to think I would have taken
the fault. I would have takenthe rap form too, just like just
because they know the consequences for himwould have been harsher. Yeah, but
it would have been nice to seesome kind of conversation about that, even
though I don't really think there wasthat kind of awareness back then. Yeah,
(29:22):
for sure, but it would havebeen nice, like if if they
had had Vince explaining that to them, Yeah, if Vince had just had
a line about it. Agree,Yeah, yeah for sure. But yeah,
she's like she's complaining about Mallory andhow she's just kind of bossy.
She's always like pushing them to dostuff and he agrees. He says,
(29:47):
I agree, and she's like, you do always like that we shouldn't talk
about Mallory, which I which Ilove, Like, I just I love
that he doesn't want to talk badlyabout his friends. You know. See,
that's that's so annoying. That's soannoying to me. It's like,
are you ever like a group offriends and you're like, oh, this
(30:07):
person's like really killing the vibe, and then you pull one of them aside
and you're like they're killing the vibe, huh Like and they're like, I
don't talk about my friends, andI'm like, but like, come on,
I know you agree with me.Just say it, like, just
list something solidarity. Yeah, nowthat's totally me. I've gotten so many
(30:32):
people mad at me for that before. It's so funny. Yeah, like,
oh go ahead, Oh no,Like I I've gotten so many people
pissed off at me before. I'mlike, I'm not even trying to get
up, you know. I don'tlike I never tried to get all preachy
on people or anything. I'm justlike I just don't like talking about people
like that. But you know, they'd always be like Kelly takes you too
good friends, Listen, I gossip. Gossip is actually the telling of history.
(31:03):
So I'm not talking shit. I'mactually spreading history. There you go,
you go free in Hey you Solet me tell you if someone,
if someone pulls some bullshit, Iother people are going to have to tell
me to shut up because I'll talkabout that shit all day. Like if
(31:25):
I have a reason to talk aboutabout somebody, I won't talk shit about
that for hours. Oh my gosh. There's nothing like talking a little shit.
See, Like I wish I wasfriends. If I was, if
I was in Cruel Summer nineteen ninetythree, I would have just like Whist
nineteen ninety three, Janette away welike would I would send her on the
(31:51):
straight and narrow and she could justlike talk shit about her friends and like
we'd be friends and all would bewell. I could fix it. I
could have the situation. Yeah,I do, gotta say, though.
She The point that Jeanette leads withis like I can't believe Mallory left us,
(32:13):
And it's like I agree with Vince, Like she did not leave them.
They were all supposed to run, right, and that was a choice
Janette made instead of running like theywere all just supposed to book it.
But she does have This is theother thing. She does have a point
when she said she pressures us todo what she wants to do and never
(32:36):
backs down. I feel like sheis the most dominant in the nineteen ninety
three timeline in this like friend group. And you know, if the two
like quieter friends like got together andwe're like, hey, like we don't
like this, We're not going todo it, they could have just been
like, hey, look, Mallory, neither of us like doing these things,
(32:59):
let's stop, you know what Imean, and they like they kind
of needed that. Whereas I thinklike if if the three of them had
sat and had that conversation, itmight not have gone over well, but
I think it would have gone betterthan what ends up transpiring just between Janette
and Mallory, you know what Imean. Yeah, definitely I could see
(33:22):
that. But she's Jeanette's This iskind of interesting. I mean, Jeanett's
like throwing out some clothes and she'sthrown out everything. Yeah yeah, yeah,
pretty much. And you know,Vince makes a nice comment about a
shirt that she's throwing out. She'slike, it's not me anymore. So
(33:46):
you know, we see the beginningsof of Jeanette transforming. So Jeanette later
on sneaks too, like like laterthat night sneaks into Martin's house with the
key. What do you think theintention was, Like why why do it?
Now? I think, I mean, people tend to get a thrill
(34:19):
out of out of like any typeof voyeurism, you know what I mean,
which includes like I mean, youknow, like you hear people talk
about snooping behind snooping in someone's medicinecabinet when you go to the bathroom,
or like you know, looking behindtheir shower curtain. You know, people
love to snoop. And I thinkthat's just like something that she it's it's
(34:49):
something illegal that she could do thatwas easy for her because she had access,
and it satisfies like that kind ofristic urge that she had, you
know, just like kind of invadesomebody's privacy. Yeah, I mean,
that's that's all I think there isto it. Really. I don't know
(35:13):
if she went in with this purpose, but I noticed, like you know,
this time she ends up in adifferent part of the how she ends
up where like his like little likestere It's like he has like a stereo
closet and all of his stuff isin there, and she takes the CD.
I wonder if she found a LizPhair CD and that was forbids.
(35:35):
That's kind of what I think gotto be. But I'm like, I
don't see Martin Harris listening to LizFair. Yeah, me either. What
do you think he listened to?I bet he listened to Counting Crows,
Yeah, something like that. Isee him as more of like a Counting
Crows guy than like Liz phare isto like female angst. I don't feel
(35:55):
like he would like get that.Yeah, probably not really not. Yeah,
I could totally seem listening listens likewhen I Kiss the Teacher by Abba.
I think I like this one.Oh my god, I forgot all
about thoughts on yaikes, wow Flashmanpassed. But so yeah, she's like,
(36:23):
you know, she's just going throughhis place and the lights are like
so obviously on all over the house, like obviously there are people home.
Like what if he's taking a bath, you know? Yeah, oh my
gosh, I mean just like everylamp in the house is on, like
obviously someone is in there. Yeah, yeah, for sure, Like what
(36:46):
if also she's in Texas, Like, what if he just heard there was
an intruder and had a gun,he has the right to shoot someone.
Yeah, yeah, yeah definitely. But uh yeah. So so Tanya and
Martin, you know, they're likelike I don't know if they're just getting
(37:07):
together now or if they already haddinner and they're like hanging back at his
house for drinks or something. That'sa line where she's like, oh,
well that's that gives us more timefor drinks. Oh okay, yeah,
so I kind of felt like thedinner was over and now she kind of
like badgered him into like drinking somewine or something like that. Gotcha?
(37:31):
Okay, Yeah, So it's she'sshe's being super inappropriate. I mean like
she's coming on really strong, andshe's like she's putting her hand on his
knee and he's clearly uncomfortable. Yeah, and she admits you. I'm like,
(37:54):
she's drinking, and I think she'sa little tipsy by this point,
a little, but like she's likea fu glass of wine. So I'm
like, she's like not that drunk, Like what have I'm drinking a dinner?
That's what I was thinking. Maybeshe hasn yeah, probably, and
she tells him that her ex pacedchild support because he believes that Tamil is
(38:20):
this biological daughter, but she's not, and it's Tamil know that, Like,
does she think this man is herfather and it's not her father?
Because I bet she does? Yeahmaybe, but yeah, Like he's like,
uh, yeah, I shouldn't reallyknow this about one of my students.
Yeah, no kidding. And she'sjust like she's running her hair,
(38:46):
hair, hand through his hair, like she's broking his leg. She's like
the most inappropriate person on earth nextto Martin. It's like that character in
Edwards siss her hands. It's likethrowing herself and oh yeah, yeah,
yeah I know, yeah, yeahfor sure. Yeah, like they they
(39:08):
should just I mean they should bea couple because you know, they're both
really inappropriate. And like Janet,as this is going on, Janet's hiding
in the closet and she like backsup because she's just like kind of in
(39:30):
shock by everything she's seeing and hearingand bumps into the stereo which starts going
off and it's like, oh,I must have set on the remote.
And she's got wine all over hershirt, which she probably spilled on purpose.
Yeah, I was gonna say shespilled it on purpose, which is
(39:51):
like such an interesting tactic that, like, I would never spill red wine
on like my good especially like asilk shirt. Like I would never do
that for the sake of like gettingto be shirtless in front of a man.
That's like wild, Yeah, yeahfor sure. Just just just take
(40:12):
off your shirt. I mean you'realready being still wine on it. Just
take off your shirt. Yeah, just be like, hey, I'm gonna
take my shirt off now. Isthat cool? Yeah, it's like it's
coming off, you know. Yeah, Like she's just you know, she's
pretending it's an accident. Martin goesout to find something, you know,
(40:35):
to clean up with, and sheopens the closet and runs into Janette.
Yeah, She's basically like, wedid not see each other here. It's
such a funny. It's like oneof the funniest exchanges in Cruel Summer in
my opinion. That's like she's like, what are you doing here? Jenette
goes like, I won't tell,and then Tanya's like, great, I
didn't see you leave. Yeah, that's it so funny. Yeah, yeah,
(41:01):
totally. And that's that's the endof the ninety three timeline, So
in nineteen ninety four, we alsostart off with the anniversary breakfast. This
time it's just Jeanette getting the breakfastready parents who know we're in sight,
(41:22):
And Derek makes a joke as she'slike setting out the silverware, saying that
shining silver on the Titanic, Like, uf yup, comparing your parents' relationship
to the Titanic. Right, No, that's that's not good. Derek is
getting ready to move into a dormand go off to college. So instead
(41:46):
of Greg and Cindy coming in togetherlike he ha, they just had sex,
they're each like doing their own thing, like Greg is in his terrible
mustard suit for work and like Cindyis like they're in another room. They're
just doing their own things. Soa gift basket arrives at the door and
(42:09):
Cindy thinks it's from Greg, andshe immediately is like, I forgive you
for everything. Let's not fight,it's our anniversary. Let's just He should
have like while she was doing that, been like, yes, honey,
you're welcome. Let's hug. Andthen he takes the note and like puts
it in his pocket and it's likeyes, right. Instead, he's not
(42:29):
quick enough, like a dweeb,And she reads the note and realizes it's
from Angela and she is like, who's Angela? But I mean Kelly and
I talked about it. We're like, it's not that weird that he helped
her buy a house. And she'slike, oh, let me give you
(42:50):
a gift for helping me. Yeah, I mean it's not like the gift
was like satin boxers or something likechild you know, it's just like cheese
gift basket, you know, it'sjust nice. Yeah. So I don't
know, I think Cindy's just onhigh alert in general. But man,
Greg, if if you're if yourgirl ever gets a gift basket and it's
(43:14):
not from you, just take thenote off. It's like so easy,
come on, yeah, yeah, for sure. Off. So we go
over to this is if. Oneof the other fact TOIDs that could have
been on our our little list earlieris this is like the one time we
(43:37):
ever cut away to Tanil and Reneewithout any without Kate, without Janette.
Yeah, you see them hanging outinto Neil's room. Tanya comes in to
tell Tanil that Janette keeps calling, and uh, you know, Tanil is
(43:57):
like so like bitchy. Also toher mom, she's like, Okay,
well tell her she's been permanently relocatedto Loser Island. Party is one.
I mean, her mom's not gonnasay that, although I don't know,
maybe she will. Honestly, yeahshe might. She actually might say that.
(44:19):
Tanya's really excited because she's like,oh, like the girls are coming
over to like watch me on TV. Tonight, Renee asked like why she's
going to be on TV, andshe's like, oh about Martin Harris,
and like it's just like a biglike mood shift of like, oh,
maybe it's for some other reason. Why would she be on t If I
(44:45):
was to kneel, I'd be like, why are they asking you anything about
Martin Harris? Like obviously neither ofthe girls knew anything about like this story
that Tanya has woven. So Ijust I thought that was funny. She's
she's very excited to be on TV. Yeah, yeah, yeah, she
(45:06):
really is. Yeah she's just ohgod, she's just an insufferable person.
I swear to God. Yeah, she's just living for the fame of it
all, you know. Yeah,it's right to still get in so Cindy
is eating some of the cheese fromAngela's gift basket and they get a call.
(45:28):
She answers it's a prank call.Cindy's like really upset by this and
it seems like it's been happening alot. She decides to go through Jeanette's
room, which really good production design, really good set design. In this
room, I feel like a lotof shows I see of girls rooms,
(45:52):
they're like a little too clean,or they're like a little like clutter free,
or is they feel like specially likechildhood bedrooms, like have so much
junk everywhere. Yeah, always justlike little things or like I really liked
Jeanette is written on like the poleof her bed and it looks like it
(46:13):
was done in like nail polish orlike that like puffy paint. Yeah,
that feels like very nineties. Thatfeels like something I would have done as
like a little kid. And inthe ninety five timeline we see that I
don't think it's in the earlier timelinesof Jeanette's bedroom, but in the nineteen
ninety five timeline, She's made acollage like across her entire bedroom wall essentially
(46:37):
of just stuff so that's really fun. I really liked the room. Cinti
doesn't really know what she's looking forat this point, you know, she's
just more like looking for something. She picks up the picture that they gifted
to Janette for her birthday. That'sa picture of greg and and Janette as
(47:00):
a baby, and I felt likethat was an interesting leavin and goes back
to what I was saying earlier oflike I think that Janette is really like
a daddy's girl and they have aspecial connection, and like, you know,
she's like looking at this picture, being like, look at this relationship
like I have with my daughter, where like I'm having to like secretly rummage
(47:22):
through her stuff trying to figure outwhat's going on versus like my husband.
No really interesting. So Cindy's likelooking in the jewelry box and she doesn't
This is such a The actress whoplayed Cindy has such a great episode that
this episode of her is just sofantastic. She's looking through the jewelry box,
(47:46):
she doesn't find anything. She kindof like laughs at herself for even
thinking she would, and then shepicks it up and it's like so funny
because there's a fake back on thebottom of the jewelry box and Martin Harris's
key to his door is under there. Yeah, it's I feel like it's
(48:07):
so much worse that it's. Imean, in the flashbacks and stuff,
we just see the key is justlike Lucy Goosey in the jewelry Box.
It's like sometime between then nineteen ninetythree nineteen ninety four, she's moved it
to a little secret spot and she'slike the fake back of the music box
(48:29):
is like so telling too. It'dbe bad enough if it's in like that
secret compartment that's like the larger areaof the jewelry box, Like that would
have been bad enough, but justlike that she devised a little hiding spot
is just so much worse. Iknow. Yeah, yeah, that's that's
kind of crazy. I you know, I was trying when I was watching
(48:52):
this, I was trying to remember, like where I'm trying to remember where
I would hide stuff that I didn'twant my mom to mind. I can't
remember. That makes me sad.I wish, I wish I could remember,
but like I don't know that Ihave that I had anything quite as
clever when I was a kid,But I also don't think I hid that
much. I just had so manylike trinket boxes and things that there were
(49:17):
just like inadvertently, like I mean, whether or not I wanted to hide
something, it was more just likethings getting lost in all the different spots
I have. But I always hadlike a million like little trinket boxes and
things like that, And like myroom was like always habitually a mess,
and then I would have like amassive like that's it, I've got to
(49:38):
like reorganize and clean everything. Andthen I would do that and everything would
get reshuffled. But I mean, there's just so much stuff that it's like
easy for for things to get overlooked. I never I was never really hiding
anything for my mom, though,Yeah, I don't think I did either.
I think I might have like tapeda few things behind my bed,
(50:02):
but it's like, but I don'tknow, like I feel like I remember
doing that with something, but Ican't. I can't even remember what.
That's so funny. I definitely didwhen I was little. I gotta dig
it back up because I'm like,I gotta see what I put in there.
I wanted to do like a buriedtreasure thing, so I got like
(50:25):
a jewelry box and like put thingsin it. But I had to like
them, but not like them thatmuch because they were about to go in
the ground. But I like itin my backyard. Oh wow, that's
one of these days. I gottadig it up or see if it's still
there, like the soil in Florida, you know, I mean chunks of
land just like fall off and fallinto the waters. Who knows it might
(50:50):
it might have been in the oceanyears ago at this point. But yeah,
I wonder if that's still there. My mom never does that though.
I think literally there's like butterfly clipsin it. That's so funny. Oh
so oh, I'm wearing. WhatI'm wearing is my imitation of the Janette
(51:13):
outfit. Ak, I'm wearing apink sweater. I did not. I'm
just straightened my hair and but youknow, this is my best version of
Janette. Also, one thing ofnote is that she is a middle part,
and that is just so not correct, the middle part. She I
(51:37):
can promise you that girl did nothave a middle part. That is such
a twenty twenty thing. Yeah,yeah, I although I don't know,
like I mean back then, Iknow, I was parting my hair to
the side always, but like likevery messily. But but yeah, I
(52:05):
think I but I know that Iwas. I know that I had a
middle part before they actually became becameokay to have. So I'm like,
fuck you, I like my middlepart. I remember people being like,
you can have a middle part ifyou have like wavy hair, but if
you have straight hair, it's likeway too intense, like you should not
have a middle part. Yeah,it's so funny. It's like so arbitrary.
(52:30):
But anyway, yeah, they shouldhave parted her hair a little differently
in my opinion. So Cindy Jeanette'swalking by with headphones on, like just
minding her own damn business, andCindy is like very aggressive trying to get
her attention. She's like pay attention, like take off your headphones. She's
being like very aggressive to Janette andvery like frantic. But then she gets
(52:55):
Jeanette to sit down, and shesoftens pretty like dramatic batically. She tells
Jeanette that Jeanette can tell her anythingand whatever. Janette says, They're going
to face it together pretty nice, like pretty supportive, even though she didn't
lead the conversation that way. Soshe asks if Jeanette has been inside Martin
(53:21):
Harris's house, and Jeanette doesn't reallyanswer this question. She says, why
would you ask me this? Shenever says no, and Cindy is like
basically begging her, saying, like, if there's any truth truth to the
rumors, like you have to tellme yeah, And then Janette hesitates,
(53:46):
she takes a beat, she lookslike she's like about to cry, and
then she says, no, thecalls, the prank calls are just getting
to you, and gets up andleaves What do you think was going through
her mind right then? I don'tknow, I mean, I don't I
(54:15):
don't know if she like, Idon't know if she was thinking shit,
she must have found the key orlike or if she just wasn't even thinking
about it. Yeah, I don'tknow, Like what what what are you
thinking? Well, like, thelook on her face really seems like she
might cry. It made me thinkthat maybe she like thinks about saying everything,
(54:37):
like telling her or at least tellingher part part of it, and
then I feel like she realizes shecan't or like they don't have the relationship
to do that. You know, yeah, yeah, definitely, yeah,
she can't really like talk to hermom the same way she talks to her
(54:59):
dad. Yeah, that's what Ifeel like I was seeing. And then
she just kind of like hardens andthat's when she's like, Okay, I'll
give you a straightforward answer like no, and you're just in your own head.
It's like, poor Cindy. Everyone'strying to gaslight Cindy this episode.
It's really brutal. It's so brutal. So Cindy ends up asking Greg to
(55:24):
come home from work and he's like, what's going on, Like, what's
so urgent? She basically just broughthim home to say that, like Janette
is lying to them, and she'sreally frustrated with Greg. She shows him
the key, but Greg thinks thiswhole thing is a stretch. There's no
(55:46):
way it's Martin Harris's key, Likewhy not. Also doesn't recognize it,
like the tab, the little likepaper tab, it like obviously looks like
one of his reality or like realestate keys. So he's like, oh,
well, why don't you just askJeanette. She's like I already did
that, Like she lied to me. I know she lied to me.
(56:08):
He just will not believe his wife, and that's like I feel like the
downfall of it all is like noton the same page, and he like
will not believe he's believing his childover his wife. And I mean,
you know, Cindy, Cindy's actuallygot it right. Uh yeah, it's
(56:30):
not quite like just justified. SoCindy has really hell bent that they should
go to Martin Harris's house and seeif the key opens the door. Greg's
like, do not do that inbroad daylight and she's like, great,
We'll go at night and he's likeno, like I'm not doing that.
(56:50):
This is like obviously like a hugepoint of contention for them. I mean
I do think. I do thinkher going to Martin Harris's door and opening
it is like also probably illegal becausethat's a time scene and like we we
see pretty soon after that the dooris like sealed shut with a paper from
(57:12):
the police that's like do not open. Yeah, like they really shouldn't have
done that, but whatever. Atthis point, like at the end of
this episode, it's like it's easierto count the people who haven't been in
Martin Harris's house, right, there'sonly like to Neil Renee Derek Bernakey,
(57:34):
and that's it. Everyone else hasbeen in the house, like literally every
character. Je Jamie was just outsideI think, right, yeah, Jamie
was just outside. Everyone else hasbeen inside. Yeah yeah, pretty much.
Whatever. So it's the happening spot. What can we say? Yeah?
Oh god? So, uh,Derek comes home or he's packing up.
(58:01):
He basically enters the room. Holdon one second, my cat.
My cat's asking me to open thedoor. She's like, hey, you
forget you're doing a show and youforgot about me. Yeah. If she
if she can't be the center ofattention, she's gonna she's gonna walk outs.
(58:22):
Always, always, She'll she'll beback by the end of the episode.
I'm sure she's screaming. So Derekis like, oh, can I
take some food out of the kitchenfor my dorm? Classic also like get
that all the time. But it'sinteresting what he packs. He like,
(58:43):
they have like a massive jar ofpickles, and he's like, great,
I'm taking it. Would you dothat? Why put those like you can
put them? It was huge.It was like a Costco jar of pickles.
I mean, if my roommate,if my college roommate, my college
dorm roommate came home like with agiant jar pickles and put them in our
(59:06):
mini fridge. I'd be like,no, get that thing out of our
mini fridge. So the mini fridgewould not close with that in it.
Also, like, it is funnyto me that the pickles were not refrigerated.
Oh yeah, they weren't, werethe cabinet? I mean they might
have just been unopened. Yeah, but so that they're just eating shitty,
(59:29):
shitty flastic pickles and clouds and arethe only correct pickles that can be eating.
Agreed? Agreed? Would that brandwith like the muscle Man one I
really liked too, I'm not surewhich one that is. I don't know
it's in it's in my peach. We'll have to tell me what what brand
(59:49):
it is because it's in my refrigerator. I I liked. I like some
pickle Maybe he's gonna do some picklebacksmaybe and so eel juice. But anyway,
weird, really weird pack Derek islike a little bit of a shit
in this conversation, honestly, likelike father, like son, a little
(01:00:13):
bit breaking. Honestly, this wholeepisode, So Cindy out of Nowhere basically
is like, hey, do youremember one time you had a tea party
in the rain with Janette? Yourfather said it was your idea, but
was it actually He's like, Idon't know, Mom, that's like forever
ago. I really like, Ijust feel like Cindy's dialogue this episode is
(01:00:37):
written so well because I that feelslike such a very human thing to be
like, Okay, well, nowI'm thinking about all the other times Greg
might be covering for my daughter, which makes me think about this thing,
like has he just always been doingit? And like I can just see
(01:00:58):
her train of thought. They're soclear late yea. She tells Derek that
she thinks Janette is lying, andDerek is like, hey, I shouldn't
know this, which like I don'tknow, Like I don't think. I
don't think he's like exactly right there. Like if she's like coming to him
(01:01:20):
being like Derek, I'm having problemswith your father like our marriages and ruins,
I'd be like, yeah, maybe, like don't tell Derek that.
Yeah, And like I don't knowbecause like I'm an only child, so
I don't know how it goes withlike parents talking about one child to another
child. Probably not the best either, but oh oh yeah, I could
(01:01:45):
tell you some stories about that one, yeah, which I won't right now,
but I could go on for hoursabout that one, like maybe not
the best, but like also likeI don't know, he just like shuts
it down. He's like I shouldn'tknow that, and it's like, well,
I don't know. I mean you, like Derek thinks that Jeanette is
not Lynes, so maybe you shouldjust stand up for Janette instead of like
(01:02:06):
shutting down the conversation. Yeah, yea, So she says the Titchler title.
She says, there's an ocean insideof me and I need to talk
to someone about it. And Derekis like, well, then go talk
to go talk to your sister.Like I don't want to talk about it,
you know, I'm not good withthat stuff. And it's like,
(01:02:29):
oh, man, like, wayto not be there for your mother,
like she's obviously reaching out for help. Yeah yeah definitely. So like that
was a really frustrating conversation and thenbasically like they just kind of drop it
after that, which is really sad. And then Cindy hugs him and it's
(01:02:49):
like I'm so proud of you, like keep pursuing your dreams complacency is a
disease, and he's like, wow, like gonna get Grandma to sew that
on a pillow for you, whichis very funny. Yeah, it's I
mean, I would say like thatshe's been in this like high school sweetheart
(01:03:12):
relationship and she's like, complacency isa disease. I'm like, oh man,
it's over, Like yikes, yikesfor sure, So let me see
Jeanette ghostlip video store. When shewalks in, like Vince and Ben are
being like cute. They're not likecanoodling or like snugly or anything, but
(01:03:35):
they're just like talking about their videos. They're like hey, and then Ben
leaves and Vince asked Jeanette to pretendshe didn't see it, but she's like,
okay, like I can pretend Ididn't see it if you want me
to, but like you seem reallyhappy, so like if you're happy,
(01:03:58):
I'm happy, Like go tell Ben, We're all happy. It was really
sweet, and I feel like wesee her like genuinely smile for like the
first time in a really long timein this timeline. Yeah, definitely.
Also, this was this was Ithink this was the scene. Yeah,
(01:04:20):
Like I just thought it was supercute that that Vince narrates the scary parts
in the movies for Ben. Yeah, that is that's adorable. But yeah,
I loved I loved this scene.I thought it was really sweet.
Yeah, and then when we cutback to it, we see Jeanette kind
(01:04:44):
of like sitting on the floor withVince, and you know, she's like,
yeah, like my mom doesn't believeme anymore, Like it sucks.
I feel like I've no one onmy side. Her shoes in this scene
are crazy. I didn't notice whatI was expecting. They were like kind
(01:05:08):
of like those eighteen nineties style likewedge heels, not like the skinny wedge
heels, but like it's like athick heel, almost like acter like in
theater, like a kah. Itlooks almost like a character shoe, like
a two inch like kind of thickish heel. It's brown, and then
it feels like a very like timeperiod kind of like design of the shoe,
(01:05:36):
and the shoes are brown like alittle bit sparkly. And then there's
also like a fabric part that lookslike it's like it's brown and white,
like it might be like small houndstooth print or like checkered or something,
and then it's like lace up.It was it's like a really strange shoe,
(01:06:00):
especially with like you know, she'swearing like a pink cardigan, white
T shirt and like jeans, likeit's just kind of an unexpected choice.
And then I mean they have itlike very prominent in that shot because she's
on the floor, like you geta full side shot of the shoe.
I was like, whoa. I'mlike, okay, they're they're clearly very
(01:06:21):
proud of the shoes. Yeah, they really like the shoes. They're like
you gotta get this in okay,Like please, it's gotta be in there.
That's pretty funny. So Vince inthe conversation is like, yeah,
well, Janette, like you alwayshave me. And as they're talking,
Renee and Tannil come in and they'rejust like obviously so rude to Janette.
(01:06:45):
She Janette brings up she tried callingthem, and they're like yeah, it's
called screaming, right, So funny, and they obviously want nothing to do
with her, but they do noticethat Tanya's interview incidentally is on, so
they turn on the volume of theTV and Tanya says that Martin got her
(01:07:08):
alone. He was forceful and offeredthis is the best part and offered personal
detail unprovoked. Come on, Imean that was all her, Like yeah,
it's just so funny because she's basicallydescribing herself but saying it was Martin.
(01:07:28):
Yeah, yeah, exactly. Andthen she says that she feels like
it could have like after Kate wasabducted, she felt like it could have
been her. And I'm like, yeah, except for you're not a child.
Yeah, you're not a child. And he actually never even liked you,
(01:07:50):
like probably at all. This islike, this is like narcissism one
o one, Yeah, truly narcissthis one oh one. It's just so
funny. But then Janette, imean, has no control. I mean
obviously it's all a lie, butJanette cannot help herself. And it's like,
(01:08:13):
oh, Tanya's lying, and Imean that just like Renee's like,
like, you know, Tanil islike, how dare you call my mother
a liar? Renee is like areyou defending a pedophile? It's like,
oh no, like it's the worstit could have gone. And then uh,
(01:08:33):
this causes like a big fight andthen this is where my nickname comes
from uh Tanil says that Janette's momis a freak show, has been,
which like, why is she afreak show? She seems pretty normal,
Like, yeah, maybe a hasbeen, but you know, and she's
(01:08:58):
like, she's a freak show, has been an so are you? You
know? And that's that's really hardfor Janette to hear. I don't think
Cindy deserves to be called a freakshow. She's seen now normal. Yeah,
yeah, definitely, she didn't earnthat title. I mean, I
have a lot of issues with Cindy, but I mean she's she's not like,
(01:09:24):
yeah, she's not. She's noteven near the top of my list
of people that shitty characters. Yeah, I have like at least five,
especially counting season two. Also, there's like at least five people that I
have bigger problems with in the overallCruel Summer World than Cindy. Yeah.
(01:09:46):
So Derek picks up Janette again, like he's not like the most supportive here.
He she's like crying in his carand you know, she's like,
oh it was Renee And to Neil, he goes, I thought I told
(01:10:06):
you to stop hanging out with them. She's like, well, don't gotta
tell me again because they don't wantto hang out with me. And she
asked if he has to leave forcollege, and it's like it's just so
sad, but he's like, oh, yeah, of course I didn't.
You know. He's just like, yeah, of course I do leget and
(01:10:30):
you know, she says, shejust feels like everyone is jumping ship on
her and she's alone, very sad, very sad. Why can't he just
be there for his sister or hismother, any woman in his life.
He's obviously going to screw over missBurnakey. Yeah, but uh, all
(01:10:53):
right, So then we go backto Cindy sitting at home in the dark.
Never a good sign. Yeah, definitely not a good sign. Greg
comes in and it's such a sucha great conversation. She brings up how
she wanted to be a flight attendantand this is like such a funny line.
(01:11:17):
He's like, oh, is thatwhy you brought up the dead body
and first class thing? Like that'sis that why you said that the other
day? It's just such a funnycall back to that episode. Yeah,
said it is, but like it'sjust so funny that they even decided to
like reference it. Again and uh. She has a great line where she
(01:11:43):
said she's always wanted to fly theFriendly Skies as a crowd. Cracked me
up. It's so funny. Ihaven't heard anyone called the Skies friendly in
years. Yeah, yeah, sure. I hope. I hope she was
(01:12:03):
okay on nine to eleven. Ihope. I hope our girl Cindy is
doing okay. God, I know, can you imagine good? But yeah,
by the way, I I did. I found an article I forgot
to mention this too. I foundan article a few days ago about like
(01:12:28):
what actually happens when someone dies ona plane. So really, can I
can breathe that after, after we'redone with I can read that after we're
done with this perfect so right,It's really littling here. He's like,
oh, I thought we were aboutto like talk about something important, and
she's like, well, this isimportant. Yeah, you know. She's
(01:12:51):
like yeah, like, I guessI wasn't loud enough, but like,
I really regret not being able totravel or pursue my dreams. And she
brings this up again. I completelysee her train of thought when she's bringing
up these things. It's triggered becauseshe's thinking about how not on her side,
(01:13:15):
Greg is about Jeanette lying. Soit's like, while she's thinking about
Jeanette Lyne, it's making her gothrough all these old memories of like Greg
not being there, or like Gregmaybe keeping secrets from her and things like
that. So she tells Greg he'sgot to go try the key at at
(01:13:39):
Martin's door, and you know,he's like, oh, did you I
told you not to do that. You know, he starts yelling at her,
and she's like, I'm gonna gostay with my sister, but when
you face where I am with yourdaughter, it's going to break your heart.
Yeah. So, God, suchgreat writing of Cindy. So of
(01:14:03):
course we do this episode also forthe fan notes, is the first one
that does flashbacks within flashbacks two earlierscenes within the same timeline. Yeah.
Yeah, because basically, like inorder of the episode, this scene is
(01:14:25):
happening, it's obviously like nighttime. But then immediately after this scene we do
a flashback within the nineteen ninety fourtimeline to earlier in the day when Cindy
is trying the key at Martins.Again, we see the door, there's
caution tape out front, Like Idon't don't test it, like I know,
(01:14:50):
she like just had to know, but like you're literally opening a sealed
door that's a crime scene, likeyou just like can't you just she like
fully they both like fully opened it. I'd just be like, Okay,
well does it unlock? Like doesit seem like this is unlocking? But
yeah, no, so they completelyunseal that door, and then this is
(01:15:12):
cut with Greg going at night, and of course the key works both times.
Yeah. I thought it was anice touch that they had him going
at night. Yeah, when youknow, he was like when he thought
that was just such a crazy idea, like, yeah, what are people
going to think if we're seeking aroundMartin's house at night? I mean I
(01:15:34):
gotta say I agree with him.Yeah, bad luck, like for sure,
but they did it. Yeah yeah, and you know, I guess
this is I guess this is whenGreg finally like stops being the coddling parrot
(01:15:54):
and just falls apart. Yeah.Tell us about dead bodies in Fruce class,
Kelly. Okay, so a flightattendant has revealed what happens to dead
bodies on a plane. Okay.Brianna Young. Brianna Young, a flight
attendant with Virgin Australia shared how staffdeal with a dead body if someone dies
(01:16:17):
during a journey. I've got await, Okay, we want to be
as respectful as possible. If thatdeath on board actually happens, they're put
in their seat, especially for landing, to make sure they are secured in
the aircraft. What is interesting withthat is when the aircraft does land,
(01:16:39):
it's considered a crime scene. Thatmeans if someone dies on a flight,
aron you might be in for along wait. So if that ever happens
on your flight, expect to bethere for a while after you land.
If you've been on a few flights, the chances are you've flown with a
dead body without realizing it. Theydon't alarm passengers. Airlines have a nickname
(01:17:02):
for dead bodies so they can flyundetected. A Jim Wilson A Jim Wilson
Jim Wilson. The name comes fromcrates that are used to transport the bodies.
A pilot also said that bodies mightbe referred to as HR, which
is an abbreviation for human remains.Dead bodies are usually carried in the hold,
(01:17:29):
but some passengers can end up canend up sitting next to one,
which is what happened when a womanpassed away in a flight from Turkey to
Russia. A fifty year old diabeticwoman passed away just forty five minutes into
the three and a half hour flightwhen she didn't have any insulin. Her
body was laid in the aisle undera blanket for the duration of the flight,
much to the horror of the passengers. Oh my gosh. Wow.
(01:17:53):
So yeah, I guess that,Like I have assumed because I heard that
there are like these kind of hiddenin areas of the plane that that the
flight attendants will can like go upand take naps and and stuff, and
I like I had just assumed thatmaybe that's where they put them. But
yeah, apparently not. Wait,so when they say they keep them in
(01:18:13):
the seat, do you think it'slike, oh, they like have like
some kind of body bag or somethingand then like put them in the seat
and so there's no bags sitting inthe seat. I know. I think
they just like leave them there andlet people think they're sleeping, so it's
not to freak people out. That'sso creepy. Yeah, yeah for sure.
(01:18:38):
So next time you fly, ifyou're next to somebody who's who looks
like they're sleeping. They might bedead. They might be dead. Yeah
it's mild. Oh I know, isn't it. And I mean imagine the
disembarkment, like I wonder if okay, imagine like they're on the aisle seat
(01:19:02):
and like it's your your rose turnedto like get up to exit, and
the person is still like you'd belike excuse me, like it's time to
get Like I wonder if they haveeveryone, uh get off first, or
if like corners have to come onand get the body first. I would
(01:19:24):
I would think so, I wouldthink so probably because yeah, because it's
because, like the article said,it's a crime scene, so I mean,
you know, anything could have happened, like somebody could have poisoned somebody
or you know, yeah that's true. So wild. Imagine just thinking someone's
asleep the whole time and then athen a corner comes and it's like all
(01:19:45):
right, time to take this,Yeah yeah exactly. Yet know what,
there's a broad city bit where Ithink they're on a flight to Israel and
Alana's like, oh, this guy, I mean, he's like completely he's
like the middle seat between the twogirls, and she's like, oh,
this guy like he's out cold, like he doesn't care. We can just
(01:20:08):
keep talking. And then they realizeat the end he's dead. And I
was like, oh, that's weird. And now I'm like, oh,
no, that that's because of that. Yeah, yeah exactly. So let's
let's hit the final timeline in this, the ninety five timeline. So it
(01:20:30):
starts with Jeanette's watching home movies, old home movies from a couple of years
ago, when her family is likeplaying card games and Angela's just Angela's kind
of looking on and so Jeanette almostgets embarrassed and turns it off, and
she's like, I'm not sitting heremissing my mommy, if that's what you
think. Yeah, I think she'scrying too, yeah yeah. And Angela's
(01:20:56):
like, you know, I wouldn'tblame you if you were, and she
says that she's actually missing her dadinstead, and she's like if if he's
spending too much time with me,I can talk to him. But she's
like, I should have stayed inno unnerting nobody like he wanted. And
(01:21:19):
I love this. Angela is like, no, we do not less it.
We do not make ourselves sweet girls, do not make ourselves less for
anybody, which I Angela is justperfect, she really is. But yeah,
like she you know, she talksabout how she says something to the
(01:21:43):
effect of like, oh, yeah, because it's their anniversary. Dah.
She's like, yeah, this dayused to feel like a holiday and now
it feels like a funeral. Andthen her attorney stopped by. She she
tells Janette and Angela that hates lawyersare deposing Tanya and that Tanya requested this
(01:22:09):
because she supposedly has damning evidence againstJeanette. And then Greg walks in.
I'm like, I was so annoyedwith him in the scene. Yeah,
he's so annoying, and it's likeeven the lawyer sees it is just so
funny, right, He's like,Jeanette, did you drink all the coffee?
Like That's what I'm saying. Inthe nineteen ninety five timeline, it's
(01:22:31):
gonna start with Jeanette getting yelled atby either her brother or her father.
There's always they're always just pissed forsome reason. They're also a haircut.
I get, Yeah, they're reallyupset that her hair looks better than either
of theirs. And no, Iguess like in the ninety three Timeline.
(01:22:54):
Jeanette's like, you, how doescoffee taste so good? And it's so
gross? And Dad is like, you get used to it now. It's
like what I guess she drank likea pot of coffee is like six eight
cups of coffee. Yeah, that'snuts, Okay, I'd be in the
(01:23:15):
hospital. Yeah. No, ifI drink like two cups of coffee,
I'll be up. If I drinktwo cups of coffee at like noon,
I'll be up to like two apYeah that's so funny. But yeah,
like Jeanette just Jeanette basically like isn'treally all that worried about it, like,
(01:23:45):
you know, because she knows thatshe's got leverage. Yeah, the
great stuff. Sorry to go backto it. Rag. It's like,
Jeanette, did you drink all thecoffee? And Angela's like, oh no,
don't worry, I saved you acup. And he's like all right,
and then he just leaps, andthen the attorney is like, always
good to see you, Greg,Yeah right, I would be so embarrassed,
(01:24:08):
honestly, like so embarrassing. Also, why he he's the parent,
Like why does he not sit downwith the attorney like right, so goofy,
I feel like, sorry, mydad is such a weirdo freak god.
(01:24:28):
But yeah, she fins comes inbecause Angela had let him in m
and you know, she's asking ifif the lawyers are bothering him, and
he says they're not, but youknow, he's wondering if he's like overstepping
by by being there, which iskind of sad, and she's like,
(01:24:48):
no, it's it's weird, butyou know you're not. And if they're
talking about Mallory being honorary Wallace, which isn't necessarily true because I think Joy
still hates her. But you know, Vince is like, of course still
making excuses for because like he nevertalks badly about anybody. He's like,
(01:25:12):
well, you know, I can'tblame her for me good friends, you
know. After like I mean, but it's like, come on, for
all the shit that Mallory specifically talkedabout Kate, it's so like just duplicitous
to be like I changed my mind, Like I'm I'm actually she I love
(01:25:33):
her, She's great, right, seriously. She She's then like, you
know, he notes that Jeanette pushedhim away, and she's like well,
I thought it would be best becauseI'm you know, I'm ruining lives here,
(01:25:55):
and you know, it's really sad, like a lot of her I
mean, she's really alone, buta lot of that is just because she
just was afraid to be around people. Yeah, and she she was abandoning
her So it's like, why whyset up expectations that someone will be there
(01:26:15):
for you when there's like a goodchance they might not, right exactly,
She's on our way to run anerrand and he asks if if she needs
help, but she's like, Idon't, but you know, can you
distract the reporters while I sneak out? Like that's another thing, you know
that I haven't really been thinking aboutthroughout most of this is like she's just
(01:26:40):
she's being constantly hounded by reporters, which yeah, for her mental health.
She goes to the mall and she'slike, got her hoodie up mm hmm,
and she's uh, she turns aroundand like I think, Tanya asks
(01:27:01):
if she needs a fitting room, and because she's got a bunch of clothes
with her, and she turns aroundand she's like Jeanette Turner to what to
what did I have the displeasure.Yeah, just like on it. It's
so funny. Yeah. And soshe like, you know, she's a
she's basically asking, ah, IPeach. I told you Peach would make
(01:27:25):
an appearance. Oh yeah, italways says. But you know, Janiel's
like she basically she not nail. She basically blackmails Tanya, and she's like
an Tanya's like, your words asgood as toilet paper in this town.
And Janette's like, are you sureabout that? Because I can be pretty
(01:27:47):
convincing. And Tanya knows she's screwed. Yeah, I mean it, all
it takes is a DNA test, you know, Yeah, yeah exactly,
And you know, Jeanette mentions thatthat's basically a crime, Like you know,
(01:28:08):
it's yeah, she's she's done someserious shit. She has like no
problem blackmailing this woman, though, like really, like does it so cutthroat
and intense, like it's it's honestlyamazing. In our after party this week
when we were discussing this episode, someone pointed out in the nineteen ninety four
(01:28:33):
timeline, like Jeanette seeing Tanya geton the news and like completely make up
that story, like that might havekind of been a little of a learning
experience for her about like telling theseextensive lies. Yeah, yeah for sure.
(01:28:58):
Yeah, and also like you know, who knows what there's also the
issue of like who knows what Tanyawould have said since Janette knows she's a
liar. But also you know,if if Tanya, I mean, all
(01:29:19):
Tanya has to do is put herat at Martin's house, is put Jeanette
at Martin's house. But if Jeanette'sat Martin's house, then like she is
gonna I mean, if you know, she's making basically making Tanya realize that
if she does this, she's ifshe speaks out, then she's going to
(01:29:45):
make sure that she gets in troublefor all the stuff that she overheard,
which can be proved. Yeah, and also I mean imagine like tnil potentially
finding out that like the man whoshe thinks is her father like is not
her father. That so would belike earth shattering, Yeah for sure.
Yeah, yeah, so it's Imean, yeah, I I I wouldn't
(01:30:10):
if I were Tanya, I wouldn'tmess around with it either, Like I
would be way too scared. Butso you know, they Jeanette's not like
Jeanette's really confident about her black mailingskills and uh where was I? Oh
(01:30:33):
yeah, so okay, Jeanette. And so back to the house, Jeanette
and Angela are are there and Vince'sat Vince's at their place still and she's
like so and Angel's like, so, are you dating anybody? And She's
like no, why, just likeI mean, usually the boys waiting for
(01:30:55):
you to come home, that's asign that he's interested. She's like,
yeah, I love her line. She's like, who would I be dating
a Menendez brother? I know, that's such a good line off to that.
That was hilarious, by the way, not to go off on a
(01:31:16):
tangent, but that that is like, that's that is a case that I
could talk about for hours. Butmy mom is so fascinated by the Menendez
brother's case, like it's one ofmy mom really, she like she doesn't
(01:31:36):
do this anymore, but she usedto fall asleep watching Investigation Discovery. She
has seen like every episode of likeWives with Knives, like all the you
know, but she loved She's sofascinated by the Menendez brother's case. It's
it's I mean, it is incrediblyfast dating. Like I'm not even really,
(01:32:02):
I'm not into any of that stuff, Like I don't follow I don't
follow court cases or true crime, but that that, like the Menenda's case,
I'm just I'm kind of obsessed withbecause it's just they're so much to
unpack. And wait, I alwaysI always mix them up. Eric is
the older one, right or no, Eric's the younger one. I'm not
(01:32:26):
sure. Yeah, the older Menenda'sbrother is like he's just just super interesting
person. There's a I've I've watcheda couple I've watched a lot of interviews
with him, and it's just likeit's just beyond fascinating. But anyway,
(01:32:48):
so you know, they're they're Shouettetell Spince that that Angela thinks they should
date and they kind of laugh aboutit. Yeah, you know, obviously
Vince is gay, but you know, Vince is like an Angela leash for
(01:33:08):
work and she and Greg is home, so and he proposes that that they
play cards and because like you know, I guess Angela talked to him and
that that he might need to spendmore time with her. And it was
(01:33:30):
a really like it was a reallynice little scene, like he apologizes to
her because he thought that she neededspace, which is bullshit. But whatever,
he's a child. But yeah,okay, yeah, yeah he didn't
he you didn't think she needed space, You were just being neglectful. Yeah,
(01:33:54):
but they play nerds. Have youever heard of nerds? No?
What is that? I don't know. I don't know if it's a made
up game or what. I don'tI don't know. Maybe they made it,
maybe it's a real game. Ihave no idea. But apparently Jeanett's
obsessed with nerds. And she winsand gets gets really excited about it,
(01:34:14):
and it's it's nice. They're likehaving a genuinely nice moment. And the
phone rings. You know, you'reyou're immediately thinking, oh, this might
be another crank call, but it'snot. It's it's her attorney. And
she tells Jeanette that Tommy had exactlyzero interesting things to say and if you
(01:34:34):
had anything to do with it,I don't want to know. And then
she hangs up, which is somethingthat annoys me so much. Nobody ever
says goodbye. And television shows ormovies on the phone, no, they
don't bother wasting the screen time. Also, you notice, whenever there's like
a school scene, it's only likethree minutes long, and they're like,
(01:34:57):
well, class is over. It'slike, no, it's not. I
never really I never thought about that. Huh that's interesting. It's uh yeah,
So anyway, where where was I? Oh? Yeah, okay,
So Cindy. Cindy is at thebar, is that Angela's bar, and
(01:35:23):
she sits down and asks her a, Cosmo, now, did Angela Angela
didn't realize who she was at first? Right, I think? So,
which is interesting, Like really shelike has no idea what wait, that
can't be right because earlier, Jeanetteis watching the tape of her family and
(01:35:45):
Angela's it's right, so she hasto know that that's Angela. But maybe
she thinks Angela doesn't know who sheis. So she's yeah, so she's
trying to pay yeah yeah, butyeah, she's like, it's it's my
wedding anniversary, like happy anniversary. She's like, wow, we're not together
(01:36:08):
anymore, which which you would know, right Angela. And Anne's just like
oh awkward, yeah, yeah, like lead into the conversation if you're trying
to talk with like your ex husband'scurrent girlfriend, you know, if you
ever like, that's what today ismy wedding anniversary? Right, that's that's
(01:36:30):
kind of weird. Sinto you're beinga little creepy. Yeah, it's a
little creepy. Style is here too? What's up? Her style is very
different? Yeah, yeah for sure. Have you ever had like a have
you ever had a like a aweird run in with with any of your
boyfriend's exes or anything. No?Not really, not really. I mean
(01:37:01):
one of one time I had aboyfriends X that would like readd him on
Facebook at like two am or likesend him messages and just like stuff like
that, but never really at me. But I feel like sometimes I look
at my stuff and I'm like,I know she's looking at this, Like
(01:37:26):
I know she's looking at this. But I've never I've never like caught someone
or I've I've found like ex friends, you know, like TikTok like notifies
you like who's viewed your profile andstuff like that, Like I'll see like,
oh so and so I was lookingat my profile and I'm like,
what's up, girl, I seeyou, I see you. I know
(01:37:53):
you're watching this Instagram story. Youknow, I'll see on Instagram stories or
like stuff like that, but notreally like X girlfriends per se. Yeah,
I've I've never I don't think i'veever. Oh well, actually there
there was the time when I wentto like I came home from college to
(01:38:17):
just hang out the weekend and mymy quasi boyfriend's band was playing. I
call him my quasi boyfriend because wewere kind of like when I left for
college, we were kind of likelike, I mean, we were together
for a long time, but whenI left for college, it was kind
(01:38:40):
of like, well, yeah, let's not be that serious about this anymore.
That's what would happen. But anyway, like I came home and I'm
like, oh, you're like we'dyou know, we'd said we'd hang out
and his band was playing, andI was like oh. And I was
talking to him on the phone andI'm like, oh, I'll come see
(01:39:00):
your band tonight, like my friendand I'll will swing by. And I
just really wanted to go. Iwanted to see his band. I wanted
to see him. I want tohang out and do something fun. If
he's like just it was being reallyweird about it. Oh, And I
was like what I didn't I stilldidn't think anything weird about it. I'm
just like whatever, he's just beingweird. Yeah. So we go and
(01:39:23):
we walk in the door and oneof his bandmates immediately comes up to me
and greets me and like gives mea hug and stuff. But he just
seems really on edge and he's justlike just talking to me the whole time,
not worrying about like anything else. And then this this girl from my
(01:39:45):
school is there. That this girlthat I graduated high school with, and
like, we knew each other. We had a lot of friends in common,
but we didn't really hang out,but we knew each other enough that
we would say, like, youknow, we'd say we'd talk to each
other or if we saw each otherout right. And so I saw her
over there, I'm like, oh, hey, how are you? How
are you? And we were liketalking and she was being really weird,
(01:40:09):
and so it yeah, it turnedout like he was he was banging her.
Yeah. Yeah. And then therewas one even weirder instance where I
was at work, like I wasworking in the mall at the body shop,
(01:40:30):
and this this girl comes in andsuper sweet, like just seemed like
such a nice person. And shecomes up to me and she's like,
you're Kelly, right. I'm likeyeah, She's like I thought, so
she's like, I, I recognizeyour photo. She's like, so and
(01:40:57):
so talks about you, talks aboutyou a lot. And it was a
guy that was obsessed with me.Oh my gosh, that's wild. Yeah,
yeah for sure, And like sherecognized my photo from photos that like
(01:41:19):
he probably told her that, likehe took them of me while we were
dating, but there were photos thathe took when I didn't know he was
there. Oh my, that's okay, that's freaky. One time. This
was like kind of more similar tothis. I briefly had a crush on
(01:41:44):
this guy and it fizzled out likepretty fast, but I think it did
get back to him, Like hefound out I had a crush on him.
Years passed, literally years. He'sat this party and now he's dating
a girl that like I used tolike kind of work with on like different
projects and stuff. So like sheand I were separately like also friends.
(01:42:06):
So I see her at this party. We're talking. We're like hey,
and like I knew they were acouple. Like I don't care, Like
it's fine, it's been literally years, Like, but she brings up like
there was specifically this incident where Iwas like walking we I was walking with
(01:42:28):
this guy and we were like vibing, and there were two other friends there
and they were like, oh,like they're flirting blah blah blah, you
know, like just being like that. She brought that up to me,
and at this point she had beendating the guy for like a pretty long
time, and she was like,oh, yeah, well, like he
told me that you used to havea crush on him, and he told
(01:42:50):
me about this walk you guys hadand it wasn't like we even kissed or
held hands or did anything. Itwas like, I was like, why
aren't you bringing this up to me? That's weird, like so bizarre.
And also that he would even belike, oh, well, yeah,
Pamela used to have a crush onme. It's like, why are you
(01:43:10):
like that? Literally, like nothingcame of it, Like yeah, bringing
it up to your girlfriend like yearslater, it's like, that's just bragging.
You're just bragging that it was mepretty much, that's exactly what was
happening. I mean, like, that's so creepy. That was That was
a bizarre one. But yeah, other than that, I mean, all
(01:43:33):
kinds of people coming through the woodworksevery now and then, but nothing,
nothing like a boyfriend's ex. Luckilyactually you know, funnily enough that story
that I just told about about thethe obsessor's girlfriend, or actually I think
they might have been engaged at thatpoint. She's she's not the first person
(01:43:58):
who recognized me photos this guy's photosthe same guy. She would this other
girl was in a study group withhim, and they were meeting at his
house and she went to use thebathroom and his bedroom was across the hall
(01:44:18):
from the bathroom, and it washis door was open, and she like
didn't go in there or anything, but she was nosy and she stuck her
her head in and just saw thatthere was like he had pictures all over
his walls of this one girl.Oh my god. And when I met
her, she like the whole nightbecause we were hanging out a lot because
(01:44:39):
we really hit it off, andshe's like, you look so familiar and
I can't place you. And somebodybrought him up, Hey, Kelly,
remember so and so? And she'slike, oh, yeah, that's how
I know you. Yeah, that'swild. See I thought the turn was
going to be your picture was inthe bathroom, which I was gonna be
(01:45:00):
like, oh god, yeah,I wass gonna be like, that's like
really disgusting. Yeah, that's gnarly. I guess it's better if it's in
the bedroom. But it sounds likethey were multiple and like he had a
collage of you, which is likeso creepy. Oh yeah yeah, like
(01:45:20):
I used to get pictures in mylocker at school that were drawn of me
and stuff and like, oh mygod, that's so weird. Yeah,
super weird. His dad knew whoI was, Like, his dad was
a cop and like offered to giveme a ride home one day and like
(01:45:42):
why is this random? Because Iwas walking home like why is this random
pop giving me a ride home?Yeah? What? And he's like you're
Kelly, right, And I'm likeyeah, he's like I'm so, and
so's dad. I took the ridefrom him because I was like, Okay,
well, you know, he's acop, so he could get a
lot of a lot of trouble ifhe gets creepy. But b like,
(01:46:06):
you know, he's one of myclassmates. I'm surprised he wasn't going to
try to like talk you into datinghis son. Though he seems like a
really normal dude too, like hisdad wild dad seemed fine. Wow,
but anyway, sorry for for youknow, side tracking with all my crazy
(01:46:29):
stories. So basically, like they'rethey're at the bar, and Angela is
like, I'm not here to catfight if that's what you're looking for,
which is where my my little tagcomes from. But you know, she
said, like she just she knowsthey're together and Cindy's not looking to fight.
(01:46:55):
She basically just like she's like,Greg still talk to me, but
Gette won't, and she just wantedto know how Jeanette was doing. And
they like, you know, shesaid, she blames Jeanette, blames Cindy
for the separation and everything, andAngela says, Jeanette misses you. Yeah,
(01:47:21):
and they have a drink together andthey they're actually getting along really well.
Yeah, they get along really well. I'm kind of surprised Cindy has
the drink with her because they feellike people try to get by bartenders drinks
or like get them to drink withthem, and they, i mean,
like professional bartenders usually don't, butit seems like no one's really here,
(01:47:43):
so they're kind of like fuck it. But also it's really funny to me
that Cindy's having a cosmo that seemslike very her. Yeah, yeah,
for sure, you know, andshe she she tells Angela she admires her
because it's like, you know, she she owns this bar and she's doing
her own thing, which is somethingSidney never did. And what's interesting is
(01:48:09):
is that she's like, well,it's not like I stole your husband.
You left him, right, She'slike, is that what he told you?
Yeah? What an awkward conversation.Yeah, yeah, that was weird.
Like that's what I had assumed too. I assume she just left.
I mean, that's what I thoughthappened. That's why I thought Jeanette was
(01:48:30):
so angry with her. But yeah, really sounds like seems like Greg Greg
either was the one who left orGreg just started cheating, Yeah, and
then she left. Yeah he mightYeah, he might have started cheating,
I think. I think so.Yeah, and Sydney probably just what a
(01:48:55):
terrible foundation for their relationship like thatAngela never or even knew she was the
other woman, is just like awful. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And
Sydney probably didn't even care because it'slike, you know, it was over
anyway, I was gonna leave.Yeah, Well, I mean, it
was just the final nail in thecoffin, you know, yeah, yeah,
for sure. But yeah, that'sthat's the end of that. It
(01:49:20):
was a yeah, this was ait's a really interesting episode. It really
like it gave Cyndia a spotlight, which doesn't really necessarily happen a lot in
the Cruel Summer world. Yeah, she got a well deserved spotlight. The
men in the Turner family suck. They suck a little bit this episode,
(01:49:45):
and yeah they're they're not very good. Yeah, they are not very good.
Jeanette loves crime. She just lovescrime. I would love to have
an episode where we do like adeep dive on just like the like people
(01:50:06):
who love to break into places specifically. Yeah, that's just specific desire that
I feel like, you know, like we pyromaniacs, like there's a lot
of attention paid to them. Ifeel like there's even a lot of like
clepto pyromania, kleptomania, Like thoseare very like more like voyeuristic as in
(01:50:30):
like just watching people is a thingor kind of like stalking. But you
never really hear about people who lovebreaking into the same one place. That
is like so interesting to me andso specific. Yeah, you know,
part of me feels like she justwasn't she wanted to be bad, but
(01:50:58):
she just wasn't ready to, Likeshe was still kind of clinging to her
her innocence by not like branching outtoo much, you know what I mean.
Yeah, like she stuck with whatshe knew, you know, Like
I feel, I feel like whenI was a kid, and I don't
remember because I'm just I'm just tooold at this point that I've forgotten so
(01:51:19):
many memories. But I feel likewhen I was a kid, there was
at least one place that I usedto go to that I wasn't supposed to
be in, you know, LikeI don't know, I could be wrong
about that, but I don't knowif it was necessarily a place that like
(01:51:41):
a private area though there wasn't likeever a place that like would be like
someone I wouldn't like sneak in someone'shouse. I actually was just talking about
like my childhood best friend, herneighbors would like run through her house and
like they love to make her hermom mad, and they'd like run through
(01:52:05):
the house, like grab things outof the kitchen and then like run back.
They like live for the thrill oflike just what the hell? Yeah,
we're talking about that the other day. But other than that, I
mean I've never, like I neverI always wanted like a tree house or
(01:52:26):
like a secret hideaway type thing.I was a little hiding spot. But
I wasn't like I didn't like desiregoing somewhere. I wasn't like allowed or
like wasn't supposed to be or anythinglike that. As we've talked about,
I have snuck into universal. Buteven that, it's like I did it
that once and then it's not likeI tried doing it like every week.
(01:52:48):
I was just so worried I wouldget caught that I was like, no,
I'm not doing that. Yeah,no, you know what we used
to do. And but this waslike a super common thing and a lot
of kids used to do this.So the mall in my town back when
I was in high school, itwas it was open. It was an
(01:53:10):
open air mall. They enclosed itlike I think shortly after I graduated high
school, but it was it wasreally nice. It was a really nice
open air mall, and you know, they had fountains and stuff, and
it was just like we always wantedto walk around there at night, you
know, because like we'd go seea movie and then one of the theaters
(01:53:32):
kind of the doors were like kindof in the you know, the inside
the mall. So we'd come outof the movie and we would like we
try to get around security and liketry to walk through the mall without getting
caught because it was just really nice. It was a nice it was a
nice spot to walk around and hang. Yeah, yeah, exactly, Like
(01:53:54):
we weren't even trying to like weweren't even trying to cost trouble or anything.
We just wanted to walk around. We would always get caught. Yeah,
so that that's probably what I wasthinking of when I'm like, I
know there's someplace that I used tobut I was just sneak into. It's
probably that, But yeah, itwas. It was an interest. It
(01:54:15):
was an interesting episode for sure, and so there was no Kate in this
episode. But the next episode isactually is very Kate heavy because it's Happy
Birthday Kate Wallace. I don't knowif I don't know if Jeanette's in that
one or not, because I'm beinggood and like, you know, watching
them one at a time. Yeah, I learned my lesson. But yeah,
(01:54:44):
so that's uh, that's the endof this episode, we get a
comment from one of our from oneof our favorite listeners, slash Viewers,
that she was having trouble getting intointo the after party on Sunday. Oh
(01:55:05):
so like one of the links. One of the links wasn't working. So
if if anybody can let us knowif whether or not you also had trouble.
I know Rachel called in so clearlyshe didn't have any problems, but
if you had trouble, if youwere trying to get into the after party

in link or you know, orfor whatever reason you couldn't get into the
chat, please let us know.Just leave us a comment on this video
because I'm I'm going to look intoit as soon as I have time.
I just haven't had a chance yet, but yeah, I definitely want to

always. There you go. AndPamela, did you have anything else that
you wanted to add before we getout of here? Yes, Tudays,

(01:57:12):
comedy show on next Friday, Friday, September twenty ninth, eight pm at

have a comedy show called Goat Show. I host it and it's a lot
of fun. So if you're inthe area, I hope you can make
(01:57:35):

We're at Goat Show, go oAt, Goat Show, show La Goat
chow La on Instagram and we havethe ticket link there. I hope to
(01:57:55):
see you guys there, like comesay hi. We all hang out afterwards,
and I would love to see Iwish I could go. I know
one of these things one of thesedays. And then I guess the final
thing is Kelly and I are thinkingof doing in honor of the family feud
game that happened with both Yellow Jacketsand Cruel Summer, We're thinking of doing
(01:58:18):
a family feud Team Antler Queens versusTeam Cruel Summer. So if you're interested
in participating in that or watching,or you have a team you want to
be on, let us know, because I'm trying to set it up right
now and we're trying to figure out, like how many people would be interested
(01:58:39):
in playing. It's just traditional familyfeud, nothing like specific to each of
the show's just regular ole family feud. But in the name of our podcasts,
so let us know, let usknow if you're interested in that.
Yeah. Yeah, Plus, asI'm mentioned at the top of the episode,
(01:59:01):
we just debuted a new show, that Daryl Dixon podcast again, you
know, like all of our otherswherever you can, wherever you listen to
podcasts, as well as on ourchannel. We do an after party for
that one as well, every Sundaynight after immediately after the episode. If
you've never watched The Walking Dead, you really don't need to watch what to
(01:59:25):
watch it before you watch the spinoff. It's the first season is very short.
It's only six episodes and there's onlytwo out as as I'm recording this
right now, and by the timeit goes up, there should only be
two out. So on Sunday wewill be having the after show for episode
three, and then there's only threeepisodes after that. So it's it's a
(01:59:48):
lot of fun. The show isactually a lot better than I expected.
I yeah, it's good. Yeah. I had my own reasons I didn't.
I wasn't going to watch it,and then I decided to start watching
it for reasons that I'll talk aboutlater. Because I don't want to give
away anything. But but I wasn'treally expecting to all that much from it,
(02:00:08):
and I'm really enjoying it surprisingly,And it's in France and you know,
the setting is really pretty and yeah, it's like Emily in Paris meets
The Last of Us, Like what'snot going? Yeah, it's it's all.
They also really did rip off TheLast of Us, which is a
little annoying, but you know,I could fine Last of Us part Last
(02:00:31):
of Us meets Walking Dead meets Emilyin Paris. Yeah, there you go.
We also are debuting two more newpodcasts this week, H Block Queens,
which is our Wentworth podcast. Ifyou haven't seen Wentworth, it's an
Australian women's person show that's very dark, nothing like Orange is the New Black.
(02:00:54):
It's very dark but super gripping andcompelling, like edge of your seat
stuff, you know, the kindof show that like every episode you're just
itching to get to the next one. It's on Netflix. There's nine seasons,
so but we're taking it, youknow, episode by episode. So
if you've if it seems like ashow that you'd be interested in, check
(02:01:16):
it out and you know, joinour well I don't. We're gonna start
doing after parties eventually, but afterwe get through a couple of these other
shows first. But yeah, checkout that podcast. Check out the Eighth
Block Queens podcast if you decide tostart watching. We're going week by week,
so we'll be going at your speed. The other thing, the other
(02:01:40):
one that's reviewing. This week,Pamela and I are hosting something called a
Whole Queens and it's it's just it'sgonna be a lot of fun, so
just check it out. It's youknow, there's nothing that you have to
be familiar with. Basically, it'sabsolutely nothing except com and sense and judginess.
(02:02:01):
Yeah. Yeah, we're judging.We're judging people basically. It's it's
the it's a Reddit podcast. We'rereading submissions from the am I the Asshole
forum. It's just a lot offun. So if you find any really
like funny or interesting submissions on thatforum, if you're a big Reddit fan,
(02:02:21):
if you find some something that youreally want us to read, please
send it to us and we'll definitelytake a look at it. Or if
you personally want to know if youare the asshole in a situation but you're
too scared to ask Reddit, askus. Yeah, yeah, well we'll
be judge, jury, and executioner, all right. Uh so, yeah,
(02:02:45):
I hope to hope to see youguys at one of our after parties.
Remember cool Summer after parties are everyTuesday night at ten pm Eastern.
And we're almost we're almost done withthis season. But if we don't catch
you, you know, if wedon't catch it one of these, hopefully
(02:03:09):
we'll catch it one of our otherafter parties very soon. So take care
of everyone and we'll see you veryvery soon. By
