(00:44):
Hey guys, what's up. Um, we are live today, which
is a little different. We don'tusually do library caps, but um,
this this was has been kind ofa chaotic week. Um, first we
didn't think it's well, we hadtrouble planning for this episode because we didn't
(01:07):
think that. Um, we didn'tthink that we were going to be getting
episodes eight nine early. And whendid we get these? I think we
got him on the weekend, didn'twe? Yeah? I think so.
The minute you told me, Iliterally sat in my bathtub for two hours.
(01:27):
Oh that's so funny. My boyfriendwas like, are you okay in
there? Yes, I'm walking TV. Oh my god, that's hilarious.
Um. Yeah, so we didn'twe didn't have as much time to plan.
But I also was just recovering fromkind of overworking myself. So,
(01:48):
UM, I like, I justwasn't feeling great, and then I had
to reschedule a couple of times, and then my microphone literally tried to hacked
me yesterday and it was laying onthe floor and I'm like, what is
going on? Um? And uhyeah, So anyway, we're finally here.
(02:12):
Um uh uh we you know,we had to do it at the
last minute, so we're just we'redoing a library cap just so we can
finally get this up there. Anddon't everybody doing buy a special guest.
That's my cat. Oh she's justchilling here, man, she is out.
(02:35):
Yeah, she will have a lotto say about cruel summer. You
you slipped her some benzos, didn'tyou know? Or some muscle only when
she flies on airplanes. And thenthen she gets some gab of penton.
See if Isabella gave Luke some gabof penton, I would have a deeper
understanding of the effects and uh everythinglike um oh my goodness, um yeah,
(03:08):
so why did you? Um,so what did you think about this
episode overall? Um? My jawdropped on the floor with the winter timeline
reveals. Yeah, um, wecan talk about that once once. Uh.
The drama truly unfolds. Um,you know a lot of things that
(03:29):
just like wasn't expecting from this show. Um for the better. You know,
it's like you never want to knowexactly. It's like, as much
as I want to be right aboutall my theories, UM, it's also
more fun when you don't know what'sgonna happen. I do feel bumm though,
because I feel like if we haven'tseen the polar Bear costume at this
(03:53):
point, it's probably not relevant.So I I'm just I'm just a little
sad. I'm a little sad.I'm a little sad. I'm mourning some
of my old theories, like thefireworks. I don't know if that's going
to happen anymore, Kelly, Andthat makes it makes sense that I wouldn't.
(04:14):
I know, I know. Butmaybe the DP was just like having
fun with the camera. He waslike, Hey, instead of it being
staggnant, maybe we'll focus on thesegiant fireworks. I don't know. That's
that's the only reason I can thinkof. But if you're someone who worked
(04:34):
on Cruel Summer and can get mean answer to any of these things,
please please. It's like nails ona chalk word in my brain. I
need to know man's It is veryconfusing, but I did. I really
enjoyed this episode. I think thishas been a great season and people are
(04:55):
really sleeping on season two. I'vebeen really enjoying it. Yeah, me
too, I've I've been enjoying ittoo. I don't think it's as like
I don't think it's as gripping necessarilyas season one. But I still think
the story's good. I think theacting's good. I think I mean,
I just think it's I think it'sa good show all around. I feel
(05:16):
like season one got a lot ofreally because for me, I would get
very frustrated with season one. It'slike, and I feel like a lot
of people had really strong feelings aboutseason one point blank you know what I
mean, people like love it orthey were so like frustrated by it.
That person being me. But it'swhat I feel like, is no pun
(05:41):
intended, almost like luke warm, but it's really solid, Like I don't
think it's bad. I think it'slike I think everyone's giving like great performances.
It's just kind of a different scenariothan being like, oh yeah I
was kidnapped Dan, it's this girlfault you know, it's like different,
(06:02):
But I don't think that's like anyfault of the season or even really the
writers, Like I think this isI I like season two more than I
like season one. But when werewatch season one, we'll see how I
feel about it. I can't waitto get there. I'm I'm still looking
forward to that. Um. I. I do want to point out,
(06:26):
and I pointed this out last nightduring the Live that um Isabella once again
echoed echoed Pamela um Uh. Shesaid that she told Luke that he was
worse than Brent because at least Brentdidn't at least Brent didn't pretend to be
(06:49):
a good guy. He uh,Brent new moves Nasa. I can't remember
the exact line, but yeah,I know what you're talking about. Yeah,
I've really felt like um Isabella's commentsin general this season, like especially
as I've been rewatching things and goingthrough my notes again, she really echoes
(07:11):
like how I'm feeling a lot ofthe time and then says it, and
I feel like that's almost something thatwas missing in season one. You know,
It's like I wish someone had avoice like that season one, um,
because yeah, I mean Isabel hada line also in this episode where
she says to Brent, like, why don't you hang out with people your
(07:31):
own? Right? Yeah? Yeah, like why doesn't he That's it's it's
weird. It's weird when you're postcrideand you're you make fun of your little
brother, but then you're hanging outwith his friends. Like that's like a
guy in high school that doesn't havefriends, Like that's it's like a red
(07:54):
flag. Like not like I'm aloner. That's like red flag, like
where are his friends? You know? No, no, it's it's no,
you're right, but yeah, that'scrazy. There were two. Yeah,
so there were two. There weretwo pamelaisms in this episode. I'd
love to see it hire me.Look I look, I mean after the
writers strike because I'm not a scap. But then when AMTP gives the writers
(08:20):
what they want, please hire me. Yeah exactly. Um oh, but
then you're probably gonna have to leavethe show and that'll suck. I don't
think. So I just have tobe quiet most of the time. I'd
be like, yeah, you couldbe my quiet co host. Yeah yeah,
(08:41):
I'm like you say something where I'mlike, that's right, and I'm
like, or we'll just like orwe'll stick you in the bear suit and
just say that. I got anew co host. Yeah, I have
a voice changer. I'm like,hello, Kelly, it's good. We
wouldn't do on the podcast. Thisis my new co host, lap them,
(09:07):
lap them yep, I know.Oh my goodness, I'm getting silly.
Um okay, well let me up. What's up? Oh you go
ahead? Oh um? All right, well yeah, let's why don't we
(09:28):
get into with them? All right? Summer of nine to nine. Yeah,
we open with Isabella and Megan layingon the ground. They're talking about
Luke. Um. Absolutely, thestory of the Girl is playing. That
was one of the first uh songsI put on my first iPod um the
(09:50):
iPod Nano and gosh because of that, whenever I get into my car,
that would be the very first songthat like, anytime I get in my
card be this is the story ofa girl, Like, that's just the
first thing that happens. Um.I got so sick of it though,
(10:13):
I either deleted no, I deletedthe song, or I think I added
um ABC Cafe from lay Miss, which like, honestly, that's an even
more annoying song to every time youget in the guard because that one's like
(10:33):
it's like, okay, anyway,Um, I really liked that song.
Um, Meghan is just absolutely giddy. I think Isabella really likes seeing her
this happy. Um Meghan tells Isabellashe's the best friend she could ever have.
Just really sweet. Yeah. Iwas not gonna like, uh,
(10:58):
not gonna like this treatment. Uhyou know, best friend she ever had.
But she's not gonna like the fallout of this uh coupling. She's
just put together later Yeah yeah, worst uh yeah, worst worst things she
ever. It's it's gonna be herbiggest regret ever. Yeah, truly,
(11:20):
did she know? Kind of likea hard predicament because I feel like she
was just trying to help her out, but in help Megan out and then
in doing so, she kind ofhurt hurt herself and her friendship with Megan.
And I mean, like, especiallyin this opening scene, it's like,
(11:41):
how do you tell someone that's likethis excited in a new relationship like
that they're not being a good friend. Yeah, It's it's hard, you
know. Our next scene, Isabellacomes downstairs and Luke and Megan are hooking
up on the couch. Uh,what a psych to behold. Um,
(12:05):
they ditch Isabella. Um, she'sgonna have to go to the pre school
starting car wash by herself because theyjust want to hook up more. Um
kind of rude. Debbie walks inand it's like, oh, like Megan
(12:26):
and Luke are in Meghan's room.Ha ha. I'm like, okay,
your daughter gets pregnant later. Ohyeah, like okay. My my parents
were like really like they they caredway less about what I was doing than
(12:46):
than most of my friends parents.UM, and I don't I don't think
they would have been that cool withlike, oh, Kelly's up in her
room with her boyfriend. Okay, yeah with the door click. I remember
like one of my friends would belike, Um, in like the eighth
(13:07):
grade, he was like, well, I'm allowed to have my girlfriend in
my room, but we just haveto keep the door open. It's like
okay, but yeah, I was. I was never allowed to have any
one of the opposite sex in mybedroom because my mom just thought that's inappropriate
point blank. You know. Um, So I don't know. I mean,
Debbie's been chill this whole season,so UM, I guess what you
(13:33):
know what's the change. Um,but you know, Debbie says that Isabella
has a place. It's it's rightnext to Megan. Still. Um,
but Isabella seems like a little withdrawn. It's like she's got the wind came
out from her sails, you know, it's she's a little deflated. Um.
(13:58):
We cut back to Luke and Meganin bed together, and Megan says
she's so glad that they get tobe each other's firsts. Yeah, and
Luke does not correct her. He'sjust like, yep, yeah, yeah,
(14:20):
Like it doesn't even Bella hasn't saidanything right. Yeah. I mean
he doesn't even seem like he doesn'teven seem like he's thinking about it,
like he seems upset about it oranything. He's just like repensive or anything.
He's like like, yeah, yeah, so so rough, so bad.
(14:41):
Um. So we cut to Isabellaat the car watch it's in full
swing. Um. I remember infifth grade, Um, so we didn't
have the hunk of your horny sign. That would have been wildly inappropriate.
Oh my god, yeah we infifth grade. I get the joke.
Yeah, I mean I get thejoke. You know, like you know,
(15:05):
honk if you're horny. You know, but like I get it.
But I mean even for high school. Like if I was a senior in
high school, I would be like, who cares, it's funny, I'm
gonna have this on a side haha. As an adult now, I'm
like that's like just so not appropriate. Yeah. Yeah, like grown men
(15:26):
being like yeah, Parker, you'resexy, no grous, Like you don't
want that. You don't want that. Um, but yeah No. When
I was in when I was infifth grade, we did like a little
car wash fundraiser, and I justlike it was like them. I was
not as put together as Isabella. Also, I was like twelve year eleven
(15:52):
years old, twelve years old,so I just like I felt so out
of plate. That was just oneof those like school social things where it's
like part of school, but notthat I was just like like hated it.
Yeah, I hated it. Idid a few car washes when as
a kid, they were never reallythat much fun. Yeah, but not
(16:17):
in Chatham. They're happy blast um. So Parker comes up to Isabella.
Uh, She's like, where's LucanMeghan? And Isabella is not there with
them. She says it's the newnormal. Get used to it. Yeah.
Yeah, Um, they're uh therethere there was something to celebrate at
(16:44):
this car wash. Yes, yes, Um, Parker dumped Brent yay yeah
girl, smart girl, why youdo it? Yeah? I see what
you do with Parker. Um,and she seems fine. And to say,
(17:06):
like, I feel like that hadjust happened, and now she's also
at the car wash with Brent. It's like that's I don't know, brave,
you know what, but like Iit's goofy, but I'm like,
it's it's hard to like be aroundyour ex after you guys like just broke
up. And like also he's liketalking smut with all the boys, like
(17:29):
yeah, gross. Um she seemsyeah, she seems really broke it up.
Yeah, she's fine. My outfittoday is Parker inspired. Um.
Kind of hard to find an outfituh this episode, since I didn't have
the New Year's Eve outfits. Umyeah, I don't own any of that
and I'm not gonna order something justto wear it once, uh for for
(17:55):
the podcast unfortunately, So um yeah, the best I could do is cheetah
print. And also I wasn't goingto record this podcast in a bikini,
so some of you would like that. What ye oh, well maybe one
day, maybe one day. That'sfor the Patreon. You gotta pay for
(18:17):
that. Yeah, that's all ourPatreon content is just a bikini. It's
that's hilarious. Everyone's signing up forPaton for Patreon right now. I got
my gridit going, Betty, Ohmy gosh. Um. So the next
(18:41):
scene we see Jeff is handing um. Who is that? Is that Tim?
Or is that Eric? Um?Tim is the Tim is the Asian
guy? Um? Okay, God'sEric? Okay. So Jeff is handing
Eric a VHS tape and Eric's dialogue. He's a great actor. His dialogue
(19:07):
here feels very canned. He's like, wow, I have been waiting to
watch this, thank you, andJeff says, um, you know,
like you didn't get it from meKelly and I had been, well,
you hadn't. Initially thought maybe hewas doing something with Brent's sex tapes.
(19:27):
I think that the pills that werein Meghan's bag were actually Jeff's in Jeff's
bag, and Megan was just coveringfor Jeff when Isabella found them, and
that would make sense of the linelike, but I kept your secret,
(19:48):
and I think he just uses theVHS tapes as like, you know,
a way to not get caught withlike a baggy of pills. Okay,
yeah, that would make more sense. I just I was just because that's
what I assumed was happening, that'swith the pills. And then when when
he like when the tapes came out, I'm like, wait a minute,
(20:11):
what that's a secret, Like, what's going on here? I'm confused.
I like, in in like episodeone, I was like, what if
he's doing some like weird like voyeuristicstuh gosh, camera, that's Howie pays.
That's Howie pays for the camera equipment. I still want to see the
(20:33):
camera equipment. It's like a camquarter. How much could that cause?
Yeah? Yeah yeah. Um,semi charmed Life is playing. I love
this song. It always makes mefeel like I'm in a movie. Um
and this and a teenage dirt bagtoo completely appropriate songs for uh the the
(21:00):
boy time happened in this timeline.Um, But meanwhile, Parker and Isabella
are talking about high school, Isabellesaying she's really excited to decorate a locker.
Yeah that's so cute. Yeah Iwas. I was so excited,
like to get in high school anddecorate a locker. And then of course
when I did get a locker, like, did I actually decorate it?
(21:23):
No, because like I spent notime, you know, it was just
I literally like threw my stuff inand that was it. But every year
of high school I did of lockerone two, three four, Okay,
yeah, I keep trying to likeI keep trying to remember lately because I
(21:52):
feel like I feel like I mayhave shared lockers with people, like with
like my best friend or my boyfriend or um, like I had my
old locker, but like you know, we used each other's also. Um.
But yeah, but it's so funnybecause I could still, um,
(22:15):
if I went into my old highschool, I I could still tell you
exactly where my old locker was.I could I could find my exact locker.
Oh yeah, I know, likeexactly well once I know exactly where
one, two three four is.Yeah yeah, yeah, I don't remember
my actual locker number, but um, but I could. I mean,
(22:38):
I could show you exactly like whichlocker was. In middle school, I
had lockers as well, and Iremember being really excited for that because no
one actually locked their lockers um highschool like before, I start. On
the first day, I was like, oh man, I have to practice
(22:59):
like the nation lock Um, mycat is doing something I don't know.
She's she came to life and isnow being like very playful with the salt
and pepper shaker right now. ButI was so excited also then for the
lockers and that time I did decoratemy locker. Um. You know a
lot of girls were putting like photosof boys they liked, um, like
(23:22):
celebrity crushes and stuff. I puta photo of a turkey I met um
at Gatorland, which is Gator themepark essentially in Orlando, Florida, and
I was friends with that turkey, and I went in CBS and put a
put some cute borders around the photoand threw it up there and people were
(23:48):
like, what is wrong? Andthat's why I was severely bullied in middle
school. Oh, I had abunch. I'm sure the turkey really got
me bullied because they're like, whatthe hell's wrong with you for doing that?
Um, it wasn't even like adog, you know what I mean,
I'm this animal possible. Um,But I definitely had like other I'm
(24:12):
sure there were like other animal photostoo, like or just other photos that
people were like, what the all, poor Pamela, Poor Pamela. I
wish, like I wish I wasgood at comebacks the way Isabella is.
(24:34):
That's like whenever I watched TV showsand like, damn, like someone should
have signed me up for like improvclasses in like the sixth grade, like
insult improv class. You know, yeah, I would have fared a little
better. Yeah I was. Yeah, I wasn't very like I got picked
on a lot in grade school.Um not in high school because um well
(25:00):
I don't know. I mean,I just I don't know why. Nobody
picked on me in high school forthe most part. But like when I
was in grade school, I didn'treally know how to defend myself. Yeah,
by the time I got to gradeschool, it was just like I
think people were. I think peopleprobably would have been a little afraid to
pick on me because I I prettymuch would have just annihilated. I mean,
(25:29):
like I knew how to stand upfor myself. That's great, Like
not physically or anything like that, but just you know, I knew how
to use my words. Um,but it didn't have It only happened a
couple of times where I had todo that, and it was usually when
some some asshole jock was like bullying. Um, it was like bullying some
(25:55):
kids. But um, but yeah, it's fortunately that only happened a couple
of times. But yeah, Idon't know, I before I learned how
to stand up for myself, Like, oh god, I got bullied so
terribly. Yeah, honestly, likeI do love Perker, but I feel
(26:15):
like she definitely would have bullied me. For her bullied this shit out of
me. I mean, she wasshe she did come off a little.
She did have a little bit ofa mean girl attitude. Like when we
first met her, um for sure, for sure, which she apologizes for.
Yeah, the scene she she apologizesfor being a bitch when Isabella first
(26:38):
got to town and Isabella is like, oh really, which like the perfect
response. I'm bookmarking that in mybrain forever. She was like, oh
really, I hadn't noticed, LikeI love perfect response. But it's a
perfect response because it's like it's likeit's both like everything's cool, moving on,
(27:02):
but also it's kind of like asubtle dig because it's like, oh,
it didn't bother me, You're notthat important. Yeah, it's like,
oh, well, I don't evennotice you in the first step.
It's so good. Meghan and Lukearrive together and people are like, whoa
Megan and Luke together? Oh gosh. Parker asked if it's weird. Isabella
(27:27):
insists it's not, but it's writtenall over her face. And Isabella goes
up to Jeff and asked what hedoes with his footage, and he said
that he's putting it in a videotime capsule so that a year from now
they can look back and see howmuch they've changed. Lol. I think
(27:49):
what he really means is this isa video capsule for me to give to
the cops. Yeah, yeah, right much, that's called evidence. Oh
freaking narc narc God. Um,So the bros are chilling, Um,
(28:12):
all the guys are together, Brentand Luke. Um. Okay, yet
again, I reiterate, why isBrent hanging out with his little brother's friends?
That's what you know at a highschool car wash? Yeah, Like
that's weird. That's so weird. And also, like Brent hits me as
being like a popular guy in highschool, so it's like where are his
(28:34):
other friends? Like I don't It'sjust it's not like that's a giant red
flag. I like to think thatI like to think that Parker had just
broken up with him because he showedup at the car wash. Oh my
god. Yeah, literally it's herelosing. Yeah, god, you cage
(28:56):
a car, high school car wash. It's over. Yeah, this is
too far. Yeah, it's like, I guess you'd rather live as the
top of high school, as likea senior, even though he's then then
be a freshman in college where it'slike your bottom again. But even then,
(29:18):
I mean, it's the whole thingis ridiculous. Um, teenage dirt
bag is playing love it. Um, Brent is talking about the Pamela Anderson
sex tape. Um that's where mynickname, uh testicle breath comes in.
Um. And uh it's just areally like gross conversation about um, like
(29:42):
sex tapes and like how sexy theyare. It's like, come on,
like that's so that's so stupid. And UM I ran it back because Jeff
chimes in, and I thought hewas, I mean in about well,
like if you're making a tape.It was like a consent comment. I
(30:04):
thought it. He said consent. He said something about the lighting. He
was like, well, you gottamake sure there's good lighting, and I
was like, oh, well, like all the boys that are part of
that conversation, they're all dirt bags, like yeah, and I mean we
(30:26):
just get confirmation of that from Frankslater this episode. But like that's my
that's like my internal radar now, like especially like post middle school, post
high school, it's like the guysthat hang out with those guys that say
the gross things, like they're notgood guys, like they're really not you
(30:51):
know, um yeah, so yeah, it's it's gross. And it feels
like Isabella is so close that Brentliterally like knows she can hear the conversation
and he's saying this stuff anyway, which is very like realistic and creepy and
(31:12):
extremely uncomfortable. Yeah, it's yeah, he's just Oh god, Brent is
such a douchebag in this entire scene. It's oh god, it makes my
skin crawl, it really does.Yeah, he tells Jeff he's gonna die
a virgin, which is like juststupid. I mean, also, it's
(31:38):
like I thought he was making funof Jeff because Jeff was like, well,
it's important that you tell the girlthat you're filming it before you start
filming it's like, no, Jeffwas like, what if it was like
lit really artistically, it's like, shut up awful, what the hell serious?
(32:05):
Truly, but strap in because it'sabout to get even worse. So
Luke pulls Isabella aside and he askedher to not mention that they had sex
to Megan. And you know,Isabella is like very obviously not comfortable with
(32:28):
this, but he kind of likecajoles her into it, and he says
that Megan is a lot more sensitivethan she seems. And so Isabella just
kind of goes along with it becauseI think she just really doesn't want to
stir the pot. But you cantell how not okay with that she is.
(32:49):
She doesn't want to keep a secretlike that from Megan. No,
And it was so, oh mygod, I hated the scene so much.
Like hated it, not as in, you know I thought it was
poorly written or you know, poorlydone or anything. I thought it was
a great scene, but I meanit just like it just made me so
angry, like, yeah, heput her in such he had all the
(33:14):
power, Yeah, and he puther in such an awful position. Um,
because if she went against him andtold Megan the truth. She they
probably would have like Megan probably stillwould have gotten mad at her because Luke
(33:37):
probably would have have convinced Megan thatshe was lying somehow. Yeah. Um,
and it's she just all she hadto Like she made the best decision.
She made the best decision. Mum. It's like I she made that.
(33:58):
I would have made the same decision, because like, what can you
do? She had like she wasscrewed either way, and like this was
somebody who knew Isabella. She wasshe was forced to trust somebody who knew
who knew Megan his entire life, and she was just hoping that she was
(34:22):
just hoping that she could trust him. Yeah, oh god, oh so
rough. Yeah, I'm not anasshole. So right after this one chambers
after another with poor Isabella, Brentcomes up to Isabella. She I was
(34:49):
trying to understand. I was like, I read my note it's she gives
him lip for hanging with people nothis age. I read it as she
gives him liphand hanging, And Iwas like, whoa wait, what happened?
Um? Yeah, this is whereIsabella is like, why don't you
hang out with people your own age? Um? Brent just kind of like
shlups it off. Um. Heasked if she wants to hook up,
(35:14):
and she's like, no, ofcourse not. Um, she'd rather eat
glass specifically, which is very funny. Um. And as she's walking away,
Brent undoes her bikini top and laughs. Um, and he says,
you know, he rattles off abunch of like awful one liners. Uh,
(35:37):
you know you want it, you'reasking for it. You're a tease.
Yeah, she's such a tease.Like the way she comes on to
him all the time. Yeah, literally, the way she's existing and wearing
clothes. Yeah, the way shelike she's you know, like the way
she just said she would rather eatbroken glass was obviously Yeah, that's it's
(36:01):
obviously, um, because she's justdying to marry him. Yeah. God,
like, oh my gosh. Um. So then immediately, Wow,
she really gets like a one twofrom every Chambers man in the whole family.
Um. Steve walks up and um, I'm going back to being an
(36:22):
Isabella apologist. Oh yeah, Inever stopped even even this episode. With
a gun. I'm like, whatever, she's she's a child, that's a
man's gun. Yeah, Chambers responsibility. Yeah, Um, but uh,
Steve walks up and it's like, hey, is everything okay? And she's
(36:45):
just like giving him like a dirtylook, and he's like, oh,
Brent's joking around. You're okay,Right, You're okay, You're okay,
And then he rattles off like boyswill be boys. I'm sure he was
joking. It was just a joke, Like he rattles off a bunch of
like they were just like a littletoo heavy handed, Like yeah, I
(37:07):
especially with you know you want it, you're asking for your tease now.
It's like boys will be boys.I'm like, okay, if you used
like two of these, I getit. You know, we don't need
all seven, you know. Yeah, but it's just you know, it
made me so mad though, likehow he's like, you're okay, he
(37:28):
just walked off. Yeah, whata douche. What an absolute douche.
Oh my god. It's just wildbecause it's also like, I mean,
I don't know. My mom isalways like imagine if like he had a
daughter. It's like but sometimes I'mlike, well, some of these guys
(37:50):
I feel like are just carrying on. They just lack the the ability to
put themselves in like a woman shoesand like understands so having a daughter or
not, like, sometimes it justdoesn't matter. Look at Sheriff Jack.
Yeah, yeah, but you know, I mean he hey, he is
the most He is like that thebest man in Chatham right now. So
(38:14):
yeah, he is the number oneman of Chatham. We've decide um.
Yeah. So Isabella comes up toMegan. She's like really upset. Megan
can pick up that something's wrong, but Isabella like just doesn't tell her.
I feel like Isabella really doesn't wantto crush Megan's like joy ride, you
(38:38):
know what I mean, She doesn'twant to like bring her down, so
she chooses not to tell her. What was your take on that? That's
kind of what I I. IThat's what I kind of took from it
too, U I I this man, this whole up so just made me
(39:00):
feel so bad for Isabella. Goddamn it. I'm just like my heart
is hurting all over again now talkingabout it. Oh it's bad. This
was one of my favorite episodes ofthis season. I think because like Steve
(39:22):
Is, the actor who plays Steveis doing such an excellent job, and
he episode nine, he does areally excellent job too. But I'm just
like all of these scenes like reallyjust hit home for me, Like when
Brent un does her top, LikeI just anytime I was in like a
(39:45):
bathing suit in like middle school orhigh school. It's like that was like
my worst nightmare that someone would likedo that and like think it's funny or
like this just really like, youknow, I just felt very like scene
in this a car wash scene, and you know it really like I felt
transported back to that time of mylife and like all those fears and anxieties.
(40:09):
So they did a good job.Yeah, I agree. I agree
totally. And as if things couldn'tget any worse. Yeah, we cut
to a scene of Debbie and Stevemaking out. Oh god, I literally
(40:30):
thought it was Megan and Luke andthen it cuts away to Meghan and Luke.
So then I was like, oh, your parents are making out downstairs
and you guys, and they're justlike, yeah, they're having sex.
Such a disappointment. Such a disappointment. So ikey. I mean we talked
(40:53):
about Gossip Girl, you know, and how it was like a totally different
ballgame with like a high school couplewith parents that are dating um and Luke
and Megan literally discuss this and theyare totally like fine with it, which
is so messed up. Megan saysit's a bad idea. Um, Luke
(41:15):
says, those aren't unhappy noises.Disgusting. Yeah, that's that's some like
misty, Like I walked in onmy parents having the sex and I didn't
I didn't hate it. That's likethat territory. I'm like, get out,
like, do not talk about likethe sounds your dad is making.
Okay, like oh grost, Yeahthat's gross. Um. And Luke also
(41:43):
says, now family time will meanthat we can be together. Gross.
Gross. It's like what if youguys end up step siblings and Brent is
like her brother. I'm just imagining. I'm just imagining a family get together
(42:08):
where like Steve and Okay, I'mimagine a family get together where Luke is
still alive and Debbie and Steve aremaking out, and Luke and Megan are
making out and Brent is just sittingthere like, yeah, he's just like
making eyes at Lily. Yeah,oh my god, she's a little older.
(42:31):
Like she's a little older, okay, yeah, and he's just sitting
there like making eyes at Lily andor like imagine if Debbie and Steve had
a kid, so then like Lukeand Megan would be together, but then
they both would like share a sibling. Oh god, I'm digusting, disgusting.
(42:59):
Um, Megan brings up what happensif they would break up? And
this was such good editing and itwas so funny. Um, Luke goes,
well, that would be uh gleeAnd then it's a hard cut to
the share off and like all thetwo thousands timeline drama and that I like
(43:22):
literally like was like laughing that part. I like, this is too good.
Oh my god, Oh I loveit. Yeah that yeah, that's
pretty. That was pretty funny.I appreciated that this upcoming scene is the
(43:45):
one that really like, both timesI watched it made me feel so this
is really what made me feel sosad for Isabella Lexie Underwood. I feel
like this is one of the bestperformings says she's given. Like I've seen
her in Little Fires Everywhere, whichwas also great, but like I felt
(44:06):
like this episode great job, likeso good. She's looking at her polaroids.
She looks at the photo of Megan, Luke and herself from episode two,
and you know, her smile kindof fades Loveful by the Cardigans is
playing, which is a great songfor her, especially at this moment,
(44:30):
and then Luke and Megan come inthe airstream like asking what she wants to
do, and like, you know, they pay her kind of a compliment
of like she always knows the coolestthing to do, and she just looks
so thrilled, and it's it's justso sad because I feel like I've I've
(44:50):
been like I just I kind ofsense Isabella's kind of like desperation to hold
on to like any shred of thisfriendship. And it's like I've been there
so many times. And I waslike, oh, man, just to
see how excited she gets. Soshe's like, finally you're back, Like
I've been waiting for you to comeback to me. I was like,
oh you poor girl, Like youdeserve so much better. Yeah, yeah,
(45:16):
it's yeah. It's it's funny becauseI like it's funny because I never,
um, I did. It's weirdbecause I never, like when I
was in high school, I didn'treally I had a boyfriend. Pretty I
(45:37):
had like the same boyfriend throughout mostof high school. Um, and so
I didn't really experience that we're likeI am. You know, I like
I had my my where like Ihad a friend, and then they got
(46:02):
a boyfriend, and suddenly I startedseeing them less or vice versa, you
know, like they start seeing meless. It was like just kind of
everything happened at once, and likeeverybody kind of knew me as somebody who
had a boyfriend, like you know, so I didn't. I like,
so I never really that's not somethingI experienced when I was young. But
(46:25):
I you know, I that's gottabe like, that's gotta feel kind of
tragic, I imagine when you're ateenager. Yeah, And I mean it's
just like even if it wasn't Lukeand Megan dating, it's like Isabella just
isn't like the number one choice rightnow, you know for Megan, but
(46:47):
Megan is her number one. Andlike that imbalance and that like well I'll
take I'll take whatever they give metype attitude is just so like a so
sad yeah yeah I know. Umand she you know, and the other
thing is like she's going into school, um as the new kid, and
(47:10):
she's probably nervous about I don't know, she probably like she probably isn't even
thinking about it because she's just likeshe probably only cares about Megan. It's
because she does have I mean, she does have kind of an inappropriate attachment
to her. Um. So Idon't really think she's going to be trying
too hard to make friends, like, I mean, her relationship with Megan
(47:34):
isn't really all that healthy. Yeah, but yeah, I don't know she's
she's a screwed up kid. It'snot her fault. Yeah, I know,
I know. Um. So,we we really only have like one
scene in when Her of nineteen ninetynine, don't we Yeah, we don't
(48:00):
see anybody else, right Nope?Yeah, um young one seen um in
the two thousand timeline as well.Yeah, I guess so, um yeah
we uh we see Megan and Lukearriving at the cabin and they're making out
(48:22):
and um, Megan says she wantsto try something different and she gets out
a rope, um and UM,I want to hang you, Luke.
Yes, she's gonna die, that'swhat's new. And right right away,
(48:43):
the first thing that comes to mymind, um, when this happens is
I'm thinking they're in a cabin,she has a rope. I immediately like,
just think of Gerald's game. Haveyou seen Gerald's Game? Yes,
I have that is I look awayso much in that movie. That's the
(49:04):
only movie that ever gave me apanic attack. Oh yeah, I don't
blame you. That's I know alot. I'm I'm a huge horror movie
fan, but I don't. Idon't like that movie. I like,
I have a lot of issues with. Um. I'm not necessarily claustrophobic.
I mean I can be, butI have a lot of issues with like
(49:28):
kind of restraint claustrophobia. Like whenI when I have surgery or am in
the hospital or anything, they Iwill get crazy if they do not put
the ivy in my left hand,if they have to do it in my
right hand, I'll freak out,Like I get panicky. UM, stuff
like that, you know, likeif any anything that's like with restraints,
(49:52):
I can't. Like I've never beenarrested. If I were, it would
not go well. It would notgo well. I please do not arrest
Kelly. She Yeah, it's gonnaget bad. I would end up eating
in middle school and high school,my little five foot five foot four self
(50:15):
would end up getting tasted because Iwould be freaking the fuck out. Um.
But uh yeah. So I like, I immediately start thinking of Gerald's
game. I'm like, oh mygod, she's she's gonna hie him up
and and and and and leave himthere and and and he's's gonna he's gonna
(50:35):
be left rock. Even knowing likethat, you know, we know all
of everything that happens. But um, but yeah, my mind's immediately want
but um. Yeah. So sheshe gets out of rope, and she
she ties him up, and heasks if they should have a safe word,
(50:58):
and she says control all elite, which I gotta kill out like he
should have. When she's a Control, I'll delete. I feel like I
feel like that should have tipped himoff, like, oh that's this is
not this is not gonna go.Well, she's just so hardcore into computers.
(51:20):
He's like, let's let's find asafe word. She's like, here's
a free here's here's a set ofkeys I like using on the computer.
Yeah, Control, I'll delete.Okay, I'm going to kill you now,
Yeah Control, I'll delete your ass. Yeah. Um. Luke then
(51:44):
sees Isabella come down the stairs andshe's in a different outfit right the New
Year's Eve. Yeah, yeah,she is isn't she. I don't think
she has that little Chanel top on. Yeah, I feel like, Okay,
it's like not like a latex crazylike sex outfit obviously, but I
(52:07):
feel like like that she like puton a whole different outfit. I'm pretty
sure she did. Like, I'mlike, that's just so funny. Of
course. Well, I mean,if you're gonna, like, you know,
if you're gonna do something like whatthey're doing, I mean, you
don't want to be doing that inChanelle, you know, no, no,
(52:29):
like definitely not. But yeah,I didn't even think about that.
Huh. That's interesting. She knowsfor parties, not for blackmailing, you
know. Yeah, yeah, exactly. Um, but yeah, I don't.
I don't. Yeah. He figuresright away that you know, she's
(52:50):
not there for them to have athreesome. Yeah, she telled. Megan
tells him that they need to talkabout about my notes, say about the
Plunge. But for some reason,I just read it that's the perch ask
him about the Purge. Honestly,I feel like Ned would probably know a
(53:13):
little bit more about the Purge.Oh my god. Ned's been hacking into
the Purge for years. Oh mygod. They started, they started it.
They're the group that started the perch. Yeah. The Polar Bear is
the bear that started it all. You're the new founding fathers. I love
(53:36):
the Purge series. Yeah, ohmy god. Um. But yeah,
she says they need to talk aboutthe plunge because their versions don't add up.
Um. So Began goes to makethem drinks um and uh and spikes
(53:59):
loops um with the muscle relaxer. So we we get an answer there.
That's another thing. We get ananswer too. Um. And she she
puts she slips two of them inthere, um, which I as I
meant, excuse me, but Imentioned in her after show last night.
(54:22):
Um, Like I gave my husbandtwo muscle relaxers because he was in a
ton of pain and I didn't knowif like I can take two and be
fine because I take them regularly, like as prescribed, um and because I
have a lot of issues. Umand like you know, and it's it's
(54:49):
fine, Like I usually I don'tusually take two, but I can and
they won't mess me up. ButI gave my husband to once, um,
and it messed him up. Andhe's, like, you know,
he's a lot, he's a lotbigger, and like she gives him two
muscle relaxers. And then it wasIsabella, that's drunk. Oh and he's
(55:13):
drunk. Yeah, he need's drunk. And it's mixed with liquor, which
you're never supposed to mix it with. Yeah yeah, oh my god.
And then Isabella suggested slipping the thirdone in, right, yeah, She's
like, here's another for good measure. Oh my god. We was so
messed up, so messed up.Also, if they were Isabella's pills,
(55:37):
then I feel like Isabella should haveknown better than to mix liquor. Mixing
the liquor and the pills is nota truth, serum. That's dangerous,
you know. Yeah yeah, yeah, I I why would Yeah, I
(55:57):
don't know why she would think thatthat was a truth. Like, maybe
she didn't really care what happened toLuke and it was kind of Megan's idea
in the first place, so shewas just willing to go along with it
because she doesn't really care what happensto him. Maybe maybe I don't know.
(56:17):
That seems really weird. Yeah,um, but yeah they're um,
they're drinking. They're drinking Southern comfort, right, Yeah, I think so.
So By the way, Um,if you have, like, so
Southern comfort kind of grosses me out, but I swear to God, if
(56:43):
you've never tried Southern comfort chilled, like, it's actually really good. Oh
I like Southern Comfort. Yeah,I like, I can't drink like it's
a little too much for me.It's like it's swage and sweet. But
if it's if you like, havea an ice cold shot of Southern Comfort,
(57:04):
it's so good. It's like justice cold. It's so good.
Um with like especially with some limegood stuff. Um, it's a very
high school like liquor to be drinking, you know. Yeah, yeah,
it is definitely excuse me, Ikeep laughing. Um. So you know,
(57:30):
Luke obviously passes out, as wouldanybody. Um and uh, like,
I mean he probably could have sleptall night, but Isabelle wakes him
up. M hm um. Hesees that Megan is filming him, and
(57:50):
she wants to she wants to getsome stuff recorded from him, and you
know, and the episode is calledConfessor fins. Um. By the way,
my husband was like he was tryingto he was trying to fix something
um on my log in the otherday. And I usually, like I
(58:15):
usually save my show notes um inall caps. I usually save the title
the episode I I title them, and I usually have the titles in all
caps just because it makes it easierfor like, um, for shorting purposes,
like and he was like, hejust all he saw was he didn't
(58:42):
see like curl summer or anything. He just all he saw was back to
back. He just saw It's theend of the world. Confess your sins.
It's like the fucking sins. Didmy wife join a cult or something?
So funny? But um, butyeah, anyway, so she asks
Luke what happened at the plunge um, and she says, and remember we
(59:09):
were wrapped around your finger, soyou know, she's referencing the conversation yeah,
which I don't feel like he putthat together per se, but he
should have. Yeah yeah, um. You know, she tells him that
he's going to confess all his sinsand they're going to make sure everyone in
(59:30):
town. He said um. Hehe basically says, like everything that he
said, he was just making stuffup for the guys to sound cool,
which which I think is what Isaid, UM in our episode, Like
(59:50):
I don't know that he necessarily evenmeant what he said he was just trying
to sound cool for the guys, but still that was that was so off
well considering that like he let helet Isabella take all that abuse. Yeah,
um, and you know, andhe's like laughing it up with the
(01:00:13):
guys and trying to sound like astud. Mum. But they you know,
they ask him if, like he'swatched any of Rens tapes? Um,
which, why do you think Isabellaasks him that, I don't know.
See, I feel like she knowsmore. I mean, she does
(01:00:35):
say in this episode, I'm goodat reading people, and she is,
you know, she's the one whoshould be in the cop training program.
She'd be great. Yeah right,um um. But I feel like she's
asking these questions because she must knowsomething. Um. She also says,
what else are you lying about Luke? You know, I feel like she
(01:00:58):
there's something that she hasn't told Meganthat she's picked up about Luke. I
don't know. Um, I don'tknow. I mean like maybe like maybe
my original theory is right and thatLisa is on one of friend's tapes,
(01:01:20):
you know, Um, yeah, because why would she ask that? Yeah,
I know, I mean other thanit's you know, gross, like
I would you know if it wasmy boyfriend? And I was like,
oh, your brother's making sex tapes? Did you watch any of them?
You know? Yeah, I getit, Yeah, I get for sure,
(01:01:43):
like being like I hope you didn'twatch them, but like why,
you know what I mean, whyasked that? Because that's not why Megan
tied them up? Yeah? Yeah, that it is a weird question.
Um, but yeah, yeah, like he said, he didn't mean to,
and like he said, some ofthe guys came over and watched them,
(01:02:06):
and he just he saw a littlewhatever that means. Um, I
was so shocked. I know,I shouldn't have been, like, none
of this should have shocked me,but I was like literally like slack jawed,
I just couldn't believe it. Yeah. Um, and it just it's
(01:02:30):
I mean, it just keeps gettingcrazier. Um. So they realized that.
Um, so they realized that, like he knew, Luke knew that
Brent had a camera there, andthey're they're like, why would you why
(01:02:52):
would you bring Megan here? Yeah, and he admits that he's the one
that made the tape. Like whatthe fuck was I was so much like
(01:03:13):
mind blown by that. But thenit's like when I put like the facts
together, I'm like, oh,like that's not surprising, Like it's really
not you know, to be like, oh yeah, the person who had
the most intent to make it waslike the guy. You know. I
just like I shouldn't have been asshocked by it as I was. But
(01:03:36):
I feel like everyone that I've talkedto about this episode was pretty shook by
it. I was stunned. Inever saw that coming. Never, Like
I was confused because I had noidea who it could have been. Like,
honestly, it wasn't the biggest mysteryto me. No, it wasn't
(01:04:00):
for me either, But I keptthinking it would be like something kind of
like conniving, like a plotting thingwith like Isabella, and like this is
a move to win Megan's friendship bysacrificing herself as like the person in the
tape. You know. I keptlike making it be like this whole big,
like dramatic thing, and when reallyit's like a boyfriend that's like,
(01:04:26):
wouldn't it be fun if we madea six tape? You know. It's
like it's like, oh right, like that's so obvious. Yeah for sure.
Um yeah, I'm just like God, I'm I'm really impressed at how
(01:04:47):
much they've been able to surprise usover these past few seasons. Yeah,
and you know, and that includeswith that includes some surprises thrown out us
in episode nine two. Um,that just kind of blew my mind.
Um, but uh yeah, soum yeah, I'm still stunned about it
(01:05:14):
that that it was that it washim. I mean that's just like shocked
me obviously. Like obviously Megan isjust like doesn't know what to do with
herself. Yeah. Um, it'she swears he just made it for for
(01:05:38):
them to watch later, but like, I don't know, I don't know
about that. Yeah, I don'tknow about that either. Um. I
mean especially like, yeah, whenwe're you gonna when were you planning on
doing this? You know? Yeah? I oh god? Um and oh
(01:06:10):
man um. He also, Imean she gets really upset and he then
decides to throw Isabella under the bus. Yeah. Um, and this made
me so upset. He well, they go to like leave him. Oh
(01:06:30):
that's right, that's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you go to
leave him. The camera's still recording, um, and Luke is like,
wait, well, Isabella's lied toyou too, And Isabella's like, don't
drag me into this. Yes,yeah, that's right, that's right.
Um. Yeah, which, likeI as shitty as this was, I
(01:06:57):
can kind of forgive him for it, because like that's kind of fucking terrifying,
Like I'd be scared for my lifeat that point. Um. But
so he's, um, yeah,he's like, Isabella's lying lying to you
two, and he hints that onIsabella, but it's like, oh,
(01:07:21):
actually, you just confessed literally anotherlie that you were keeping from me,
right right, yeah exactly. Um, but yeah, but yeah, I
mean he's basically just like you know, he's basically trying to trying to get
out of like trying to do anythingto get himself out of the situation.
(01:07:41):
So he throws her under the busand he um he says that they had
sex once, um, while theywere dating, and so Megan was not
his first um, and Megan getsreally up and Isabella is basically just begging
(01:08:04):
for her forgiveness, and it's justthis is just really upsetting to watch,
and and I don't know, II it this this whole thing was just
really like just really disturbing just seeingLuke be this manipulative you know, oh
(01:08:29):
yeah, because it's like that's what'sbeen underneath all the nice guy stuff.
Yeah, you know it's like,oh you can this is just like a
switch you can just flip, andit's it's so like disgusting. But also
I gotta say, like I thinka lot of shows wouldn't have been able
(01:08:50):
to pull this off. And likehats off to Griffin too, like who's
playing Luke? Like I think itcould have come off as like which is
It's not like I don't think thisis bad writing. I don't think this
is like whoa they suddenly changed Luke'scharacter. It's like I think this the
(01:09:10):
way they set up this season, like and the way it played out,
and like that little like conversation withNed and Megan where Ned's like, well,
you know, the apple doesn't falltoo far from the tree. Like
they set this up so nicely, and this reveal was just so impactful because
of how like well they set itup. Yeah yeah, and like I
(01:09:33):
mean, Megan is outraged at bothof them, She's freaking out. Isabella
is like the most frantic we've everseen her. Yeah yeah, yeah,
she's in she's in bad shape, and I mean it was that was the
last draw for her. Yeah, and whether it was her being drunk and
(01:09:59):
being a set and freaking out thatlike she might lose Megan for good,
or if it was like some likeor if it was some past trauma being
triggered. It's too much for her, and she grabs the gun. Yeah
it Luke, and the the timelineends with her pulling the trigger. So
(01:10:26):
we Luke specifically, he really doessomething so manipulative here. So he reveals
that they slept together. She's reallyfrantic. It's like a tug of war
essentially for Megan's affection between Isabella andLuke. And then Luke says that Megan
(01:10:47):
has called. He says that Isabellasaid that Megan would be too insecure to
find out that they had sex, which is not true. Yes, and
then he brings up Megan calls Isabellapossessive and smothering, which is that's like
a white lie like. He saysthat too. Meghan about Isabella in the
(01:11:14):
store when they're shopping for New Year'sEve stuff. She doesn't like say that
per se, you know, um, And then that's what leads to Isabella
grabbing the gun. And I wasjust like, it's just like I didn't
expect that from him. I didn'texpect him to fight so dirty like that,
you know, I know it wasreally it was really upsetting to watch
(01:11:35):
it really was. I mean,I just god, I hate I hated
all of it. It was itwas upsetting. You hated it. But
by that you mean you loved it? Yeah, exactly exactly. It was
very well done. I mean itwas it was. Yeah, it was
(01:11:55):
very well done. That the writing, the direction, the acting, it
was all really well done. Itjust it was just very upsetting and disturbing.
It just personally hurt me. Yeah, yeah, exactly because it's oh
god, it's just yeah. Theylove to take a character and like totally
(01:12:20):
change your perception of them, likeyeah, just completely twist your perception of
them. It's crazy. And theyand they oh my god. I mean
I don't know that they could evertop what they did with Jeanette for me,
because they went like, but Ithink that's coming. I'm I like,
we do. It is a completelydifferent writers season two, but I
(01:12:42):
swear like I feel like and wecan talk about that at the end of
this episode. I have a munchHousins by proxy theory for his beat Debbie,
but see with with Jeanette though,it was like she went It's like
she went from I went from Okay, this this girl is definitely innocent too,
(01:13:05):
oh god, no, this girlis this girl's totally guilty too,
to um, oh my god,no, this poor girl, she's so
innocent everything that she went through, and then what the fuck? Yeah no,
actually, um, it turns outshe's yeah, yeah, yeah.
(01:13:28):
I don't think anybody will will we'lltop what they did with Jeanette for me.
Um. But yeah, they're reallygood at that. They're they're really
good at like just completely twisting yourpersoption of characters. I really hope we
get in episode ten some just likefurther delving into Isabella's character, because I
(01:13:49):
feel like we will. And that'swhy I keep insisting that we're going to
get a twist where Isabella is evenmore um, because you know where too
is bellow apologize. That's Steve's problemthat he should have big gun lying around.
He shouldn't have had a loaded gunlyning around. You mean to tell
(01:14:09):
me she knows how to switch thesafety off from yeah one lesson. No,
that safety wasn't on, the gunwas loaded. That's poor gun ownership.
That is all on Steve Chambers.Good point, good point. Yeah,
Yeah, that's bad parenting, Steve, bad parenting, bad gun ownership.
(01:14:38):
God to take his kids away, gotta take his guns away. Yeah
yeah man. Um. So,moving on to summer of two thousand,
UM, Megan is desperately messaging Nedto no response. UM. I have
(01:15:00):
some thoughts on this. Um yeah, that I guess they'll say for the
for the complete end, because thatthis is like part of my updated like
theory of how it's going to turnout. We had an interesting chat about
this last night with UM with someof the people in the chat too.
Yeah, it was a lot offun. Yeah. If you are listening
(01:15:23):
to this and you haven't joined UMone of our after parties, they are
on Monday nights, UM, rightafter the episodes air on free Form.
UM, if you're watching on WHO, I'm sorry, you should come over
to my house and we can watch. We can watch together. Um.
(01:15:45):
But uh, yeah, it's alwaysa blast. Um. So Isabella enters
Megan's room and says the sheriff knowsabout the lie about the tape, UM,
which is from Parker eaves dropping.Um. Megan says Steve thinks Ned
killed Luke and there's footage on Ned'ssecurity camera, I mean presumably of them,
(01:16:11):
right, so, um, theywant to get that footage. Um.
Jack. Meanwhile at the at thecop station, police station, cop
station. Um, he's talking tobrand new cop we've never seen about Ned
and Megan. Um, they're goingthrough Jeff's footage from New Year's Eve.
(01:16:33):
By the way, UM, Ijust want to point out since, um,
you know, since we're like wetalk about all of the men in
Chatham being douchebags. Yes, Um, we can't trust that cop either,
because, um, his last nameis Hardwick. Yeah you're right, Oh
(01:16:57):
buys No, Um, just wantedto point that out. Shame because if
it wasn't for that, he couldhave been the new most eligible bachelor of
um Chatham men. Oh man ohum yeah, Jack says, if they
conspired about the tape all this time, who knows what they're hiding. Um.
(01:17:23):
So Megan and Isabella walk up toNed's doore. Megan just knows the
security code from watching him punch itin, which is so funny because he's
so like, I'm sure he probablypunches it in like this, you know,
he's like one of the Yeah, like puts his hand around the keypad
and he'll be like it was kindof cute though, like how how proud
(01:17:45):
she was of herself. But yeah, I that was that was a little
hard for me to believe, Like, come on, there's no way that
she could get that. Yeah,I know, id um. Yeah.
So they're looking through his computer forthe footage. Isabella says, you know,
(01:18:08):
reading people is like my superpower, which is so like appropriate, you
know. She asked Megan why shehid Ned from her, and I thought
that was a really interesting question.Megan has a great response. She says
she wanted something that was just hers, which like I get. I mean
(01:18:29):
their friendship really didn't have like boundaries, so I see why she would feel
that way. Yeah, yeah,I could see it. At the same
time, it's like, at thesame time, it just seems so weird,
Like yeah, it's seemed a littleweird. Yeah, it's like why
(01:18:50):
because I mean I don't think she'srunning around with Ned, Like I don't
think they're having some like love affairlegitimately just helping him like do stuff.
So like yeah, but what reallyis the big deal? I get like
wanting to do something without Isabella, but yeah, no, it's just it
(01:19:13):
made and Isabella points it out too, like it just made everything messier.
Yeah. So then turns out SheriffJack is already inside Ned's house and they
turn around, he's right there.Damn got caught breaking and entering girls.
Yea. Meanwhile, Debbie runs intoSteve at the police station. Okay,
(01:19:41):
Like, I'm glad Debbie didn't givehim even more information, but I'm like,
why does she have to talk tohim at all? Like she could
just literally pretend she doesn't hear himand walk away or say, like,
you know, we're not supposed totalk to each other, walk away.
She indulges him, and Okay, when you were rereading um the synopsis from
(01:20:05):
this episode, I was like, wait, so you mean you guys dedicated
part of the log lines to thisconversation Debbie has with Steve and that this
is her standing up for Megan.Yeah. Remember when we didn't have these
episodes, we were excited thinking likethere's gonna be some like, uh moment
(01:20:27):
where like Debbie steps up. It'slike that was it? We know?
I agree, I agree, Itotally agree. I was kind of I
was disappointed. Yeah, so Iwas just like really disappointed. Um,
you know, Steve as if heknew it was Megan on the tape.
I mean, she basically confirms, like, yeah, it's just it's so
(01:20:51):
frustrating. I hope. I hopethere's better for Debbie, like in the
in the coming episodes, like II hope we episode ten, I hope
she gets her shit together. Also, I want to point out in the
previously on there is voiceover playing ofIsabella saying when Debbie got sick, I
(01:21:15):
decided to stay to help, andit's playing over footage of I think it
was like Megan in the first episodeopening all these like pill bottles, but
I'm pretty sure like in this episode, Jack refers to the pills as being
Isabella's. He either okay, hesays Isabella's the one who brought them,
(01:21:39):
or he says that there're Isabella's.I'm not really sure, but I'm like,
just why have that in the previouslyon, Like why bother putting in
that voiceover of like I'm staying becauseDebbie's sick, because we haven't. That
hasn't been touched with a ten footpolls since the first episode. And this
(01:21:59):
is why I think that Isabella afterthis this point in the summer nineteen ninety
nine timeline. I think she startsdrugging Debbie to get sick, and then
it's an excuse for her to stayeven longer and help out with Debbie in
(01:22:23):
an effort to win Meghan's friendship back. But also I think she is attached
to Debbie as like a mother figure, and that's why I think it's Munchausen's
by proxy. I can see it, I can. I can see it.
I could totally see it. Ilike, if they gave us like
a crazy twist like that in thelast twenty seconds, I would I would,
(01:22:45):
really I would like that. Yeah, I would. It would be
interesting, it would be interesting, and I could I could see it happening,
and I like, I would.I would have been disappointed before,
um if they went that route, because I just wanted to be I just
(01:23:06):
wanted Isabella to be like this, this perfect like it's perfect, flawless person.
But now she's already shot someone. So yeah, so all that's rob
she can't do it. Yeah shecould drug Debbie. Why not not like
(01:23:26):
that he's doing anything anyway? Yeah, exactly, I like it. Um,
So yeah, Isabelle and Megan areboth um brought to the police station.
Um. The conversations are essentially likecut back and forth, but it's
kind of like, uh implied thatJack is saying the same exact thing to
(01:23:50):
each of them. Um, they'rebeing interrogated. Megan says that they're no
longer friends. Um, and theyboth tell the same story. He has
a line where he's like, andthe only other person who knew the truth
about the tape is dead, andit's like, well Debbie knew, so
(01:24:13):
yeah, no wrong, all right. And in the middle of Jack's interrogation
with Megan, Officer Hardwick comes inwith an update which is the most ridiculous
(01:24:35):
like crime scene technology, especially fortwo thousands, that I've ever heard.
That also is another moment that hadme laughing. Jack has them recite their
stories of what happened. They do. He plays the tape at the party
where apparently they were able to isolatethe sound of Megan and Isabella having a
(01:25:00):
conversation. I mean, I wouldsay, like probably ten feet away from
where the cameras aimed and like filmmame, and they're able to isolate the sound
to pick up like every word ofthe conversation, but not what the plan
is. They're able to catch.Um, I want major payback. I
(01:25:20):
want him to regret ever meeting us. But then it's like, why didn't
you hear the rest of it,which is like, Okay, here's the
plan. We're gonna tie him upand make him talk to a camera.
It's like, you know, likeokay, so that's just I mean,
also, anyone who's ever done likefilmmaking in camera audio sucks Like for starters,
(01:25:45):
it sucks. In two January twothousand, it definitely sucks. There's
no way they could do that. No, no way, no way.
Yeah. So you know, essentiallyJack knows that they were plotting against Luke
(01:26:06):
together. Um, but apparently theydon't know what the plot was, so
okay, um and uh. Hepresses both of them, saying that they'll
each go down alone for the crime, which I feel like is especially important
to Isabella because you know, shewants them to be together forever at any
(01:26:30):
cause that really you know, andeach of the girls says that everything that
happened was the other one's fault, including Luke's death, which like, look,
I mean Isabella fires the gun, yeah, so, which I think
(01:26:54):
that's where the blood on those flowerysheets, that's it's going to be luke
blood, Like, I doubt youknow, my theory was that Megan had
a miscarriage. I doubt what SoLuke gets shot in the bed and then
Megan like crawls into it and likemiscarries later. Like I don't think it's
(01:27:14):
gonna happen. So I'm like,it probably Luke's blood, um, But
I just don't, Like, I'mlike, then, what why is Isabella
saying that about Megan? Like whathaven't we seen Megan do? Yeah?
I mean I guess the whole thingwas Megan's idea, um, but Isabella
(01:27:35):
is the one that shot at him. So seems a little imbalanced, you
know. Yeah, yeah, itYeah, it really does. I I
don't I don't know, but I'mI'm like, so, I mean,
(01:27:58):
so we both think that it's thatwe're going to find out in the end
that that it was Brent and Edand that it was a total accident,
um, and that one of themwas trying to help Luke and the other
one thought that most likely Ned wastrying to help Luke. Brent thought that
(01:28:21):
Ned was trying trying to hurt Lukesomehow stepped in and Luke ended up dying
by accident. Yeah, Luke justfalls in he's maybe he's unconscious, yeah,
Um, and he just literally drownsyeah. Um. And we were
(01:28:43):
chatting about this last night, andlike it seems like a few, like
a few of the people that werein our chat last night, um kind
of had the same the same feelings. Um. And you know that,
like Brent, both Brent and Nedseemed a little seemed a little like shifty
(01:29:04):
and seemed weird, Like their behaviorseemed off in that one episode. Yeah,
Ned, I think is a giantred herring. Like I think this
whole season has set him up tobe like the freak with the cabin and
I mean, you know the NewYear's Eve fight with Megan, which is
(01:29:24):
inappropriate, you know, but Ido think like just like that scene where
he helps he helps Luke with hiswalkie talkie, like, I don't think
he's I don't think he's actually likea bad guy. I think he just
says Steve Chambers, And I thinkif he saw Luke hurt, he would
(01:29:45):
help. Yeah, I think so. And when Steve and Brent were we're
outside of Ned's house, Brent justlooked like he did not want to be
there. Yeah, and heat. Both both Brent and Ned both looked kind
(01:30:05):
of freaked out. Um, Nedis suddenly missing, He's not, like
Megan. Yeah, I feel likeBrent could have tipped off Ned. Yes,
um, because obviously, like hedoesn't, like, you know,
if it went down that way, obviously he knows like Ned didn't do anything
(01:30:27):
wrong because it was an accident.Um. And they were an accident that
Brent was more responsible for, rightum. And and that's why I think
he planted Isabella's bag of money,which like I still don't understand. I'm
thinking maybe Isabella, like after thishappens with Luke, maybe she tries to
(01:30:53):
get Megan to run away with herand like they they pack up. I
could totally see Isabella being like, great, let's beat the then Louise now
he like let's go be girlfriends onthe run, and Megan's like what no,
you know or something like that.Um uh But yeah, So I'm
like, maybe that that's why allthe money was packed. Um, and
(01:31:16):
you know Brent got ahold of itand wants to frame Isabella. Yeah yeah,
that's possible. Um yeah, Ium yeah, I mean I I
also think it's possible that like hejust because I still want pay I still
(01:31:36):
want payoff or the you know himhis comment about your just your side piece
is gonna have to get what's coming. Yes, exactly, I do too.
I've been waiting for that. Yeah, and you know, like we
already saw the thing with like herbikini being placed where Megan could find it.
(01:32:00):
That had to have been Brent, and that was not enough, you
know, I'm sorry. Yeah,I still think that there is something Isabella
knows about Luke and maybe Brent aswell that she has not said to Megan.
I could just be inferring it basedon Lexi Underwood's performance with the kind
(01:32:24):
of background of like overhearing you know, her character overhearing Brent and Luke in
this episode in the Summer nineteen ninetynine, Timeline saying all these like gross
things like it could just be that, but I feel like she knows the
right questions to ask, and like, I don't know, I wouldn't be
surprised if, like Cruel Summer's gota few punches left in it for the
(01:32:47):
finale, you know, yeah, yeah, I agree completely, But yeah,
the next episode, episode nine,The Miseducation of Luke Chambers, is
really good and yeah, another oneof my favorites. Yeah, I'm I'm
looking forward to covering that one. There's Luke has a great line in Luke
(01:33:09):
has a great line in the episode, or really cutting line to Steve.
That's that that I loved. Umthat you're gonna if you're feeling a lot
of rage towards Steve, as youshould be, you'll you'll appreciate it.
It'll be very satisfying. I hopesomebody punches him, like I don't know
(01:33:29):
why or who or like, Idon't really care, but I just want
to see him get it. Yeah, yeah, I do too. I
don't know. Um, I'm hopingwe uh, I'm hoping we see the
polar Bear again. Praying, praying, I see the polar Bear. Justice
(01:33:51):
for the polar Bear lighting off fireworks, you know. Um but uh yeah,
come join us on every Monday nightimmediately following new episodes of Crill Summer.
There's only two left, but um, we will be covering season one.
(01:34:12):
So yeah, that's look forward to. And I think we're gonna do
uh after parties or I guess they'renot really after anything parties. Yeah,
yeah, yeah, yeah, becauseit's it's you know, the after part
Yeah. The Yeah, we couldstill call them after parties, you know,
or we'll call them watch parties watchparties. Um. It's the thing
(01:34:38):
is, it's it's like the recapsif we did if we did recaps with
chats, they would be like sixhours long. Yeah, so I mean
we want to talk to you guys. Um. So like we had to
do this live because we just ranout of time. I'm um. But
(01:35:01):
like if if we had a bunchof comments coming in, we might be
able to get to like one ortwo of them. Um. But it's
you know, we do the afterparties because it's a chance to like to
talk to you guys. Um.And that's basically what what it's all about.
It's just kind of a hangout, you know, like talk casually about
(01:35:24):
the episode. It's totally free form. Oh I didn't even I I actually
didn't even intend that. Um,but uh yeah, it's it's just it's
super casual, and so I thinkit's good to keep that, you know,
like totally do it twice a weekand you know, have a chat,
(01:35:46):
have a live chat, and thenhave a recap. It'll be fun.
Um. So we'll probably keep thesame kind of Um we may change
up the schedule a little bit,I think, just so we're not like
recording two in a row, um, putting up contact two days in a
row, because that I don't likewe do that now, because it's like
we don't really have a choice withthe way this scheduling is. It's kind
(01:36:10):
of weird, but we can.You know, we could probably sketule out
our recap for later in the weekmaybe or something. Um, but we'll
see what. We'll see what happens. Um, we might keep our We'll
probably keep our the after shows onMondays. Maybe. Um, we'll figure
it out really soon. We don'thave much time to figure it out,
so we'll figure it out really soon. Um. We'll put up a we'll
(01:36:34):
put up a pole and and askyou guys, like when you know when
you would when you would prefer tofor us to have our our our chat
