In winter nineteen ninety nine, tensionsare high on Y two K at the
New Year's Eve party. A notso secret conversation changes the lives of the
Trio forever. In summer two thousand, suspicion falls on Ned after some new
evidence from summer nineteen nine nineteen ninetynine homes to light. You're with Cruel
(00:23):
Summer Camp. Hey guys, hello, if you're you're listening to you or
(00:48):
watching Cruel Summer Camp, and Ihope you're watching because you guys like,
I want to introduce you to mynew co host. Um, Pamelan wasn't
interesting enough. Um, I hadto. I had to. I had
to check her out the window.Um I had to throw her back in
a dumpster where she came from.Um, she like, I just you
(01:11):
know that that that bear that wesaw on the Plunge episode, like just
stole the show. And you knowwhat, can I say? I got
her as my co host. Sosay hi everybody, Say hi to everyone.
I'm the Plunge Bear. Thank youfor having me. So I'm the
(01:36):
first celebrity of the Cruel Summer Camppodcast. Now, I usually usually when
I have guests on the show,Um, they usually don't come with riders.
Oh um, yours was pretty lengthy. Yes, yeah, I have
(01:57):
an extensive legal team. They liketo, you know, make sure that
i'm a I'm all good because I'ma bear. I'm endangered, you know,
so yeah, I'm protected. Yeah, I just you know, I'm
really sorry about the I know oneof the one of the asks was that
(02:21):
you wanted me to be off screenand just have you on screen the whole
time by yourself. And I didn'tfeel entirely comfortable with that because you know,
my audience isn't as familiar with you. But so I hope that's okay.
Well, I mean, I guesswe'll see where things lead us.
(02:44):
Um. You know, I wouldreally prefer if you just gave me the
podcast, but whatever, you know, everyone's got to start somewhere. I
guess. Anyway, it's me,the Cruel Summer Camp Polar Bear. I'm
a little tanner then the last timeyou saw me on camera because I've been
in the sun. Um and yeah, this is this is my beautiful my
(03:07):
beautiful bear. Look, um,um, so where is your mother?
There's your beer helmet? What happenedto your beer helmet? I lost it?
Um? By throwing back bears toohard? Oh that's too bad.
Yeah, so let me ask youwho do Who do you think killed Luke?
(03:30):
Did you just get hungry? Honestly, I think it was me,
but I don't remember. I don'tremember. I drink so many beers,
Kelly, I I can't be heldaccountable for my actions. Okay, when
you give a bear that many beersand a beer hat, you're you're just
(03:53):
asking for it, okay, likeyou don't know what might happen. Wow,
that sounds that's really sad. Actually, I mean, are people feeding
in these bears? Yes? Yes, Brent. Brent always throws me his
half empty beers and I choke himright down. That's that's really sad.
(04:15):
I'm I'm sorry. I mean,are you in like he really shouldn't be
doing that. No, but youknow, I like it. I'm kind
of an alcoholic now, but I'mnot going to get help for that because
I'm a bear. I can.I can just live my life as an
alcoholic. Oh, a very personalinterview. Oh my god, Well,
(04:49):
guys, I hate to tell you, but I lied. It's um.
It's actually Pamela, it's me.You're like, Oh, man, I
thought that was a real bear, and now the head is off. That's
insane. But now we totally hadthem fooled. We had everybody fooled.
(05:14):
They really thought it was the bear. Yeah, for sure, for sure.
I'm glad tricked you guys. HappyApril fools, Yes, April fools,
like three months later. Yeah.Um, anyway, this is a
(05:38):
I'm kind of sad this is thelast episode that we have that we've seen
access too. I know. Butyou know what, now I feel good
because I'm as caught up as everyone. Like, now everyone is on the
same page as me, so Ifeel like we can all like unitedly.
You're right, God, I'm justI'm gonna have so many screenshots of this
(06:04):
episode. Just I can't stop laughinglooking at you. Well. I told
Pamela. I told Pamela that shetexted me and said that she was gonna
wear her bear costume, and Itexted her back. I'm like, oh
my god, you don't understand this. This is like greater than having Jessica
(06:25):
Bielle on the podcast. For me. I was like, Okay, well
then obviously it's a priority. Yeah. So I have I have a comedy
show, and we have me andmy co host of the comedy show have
like lots of crazy costumes. Sheactually used to work at BuzzFeed and they
(06:46):
they cleared out all of their propsand this was one of them. So,
yeah, we this is just acostume we have and obviously not exactly
a polar bear. It's a littleit's it's called a honey bear according to
the costume, but this bear hasactually played a polar bear before, so
(07:08):
I felt like close enough. Youknow, it's a polar bear with the
tan. Yeah, exactly, he'sa little tan. So this episode is
called It's the End of the World, which I titled in parentheses aka the
Worst Night of Kelly's Life because it'sI've had worse nights since then, but
(07:31):
at the time, December thirty first, nineteen ninety nine was the worst night
of my life. I hate tohear it. Oh yeah it was.
I broke up with all of myfriends that night. Oh my goodness.
So you have dramatic, like widetwo k eve as well, just like
(07:54):
Megan. Yeah, well, notall of my friends, just three of
my friends. That's a lot.But eventually, you know, like we
had such a tight knit friend groupthat it's like if you have a falling
(08:15):
out with even one person, thingsget really awkward. Oh so you're kind
of forced to like take sides. And I did what, you know,
what younger Kelly was best at,which is like, I didn't want to
(08:35):
burden to anybody with forcing them totake sides. So I just kind of
disappeared and lost all my friends overnight. So yeah, but I mean I
still so other than the few friendsthat I broke up with that night,
I do talk to everybody else. Now, Oh that's nice. Yeah,
(09:00):
um yeah, still like I'm friendlywith everybody else. But yeah, that
at that point in my life, that was the worst day of my life.
I spent I spent the countdown sobbingin my friend's brother's bedroom. Um.
But anyway, let's get into it. Absolutely so summer nineteen ninety nine,
(09:28):
which was one of the best summersof Kelly's life. Megan and Isabella
are waking up after the birthday party, not looking like they were drinking at
all, just looking completely beautiful,Yeah, looking gorgeous, sharing the bed
(09:48):
together too. I know some peoplehave been theorizing that Isabella has a crush
on Megan and stuff, so Iwas like, oh, like I don't
think we've seen them share a bedbefore, per se. I don't.
I don't really know that they areromantically into each other. Sorry not to
keep dropping Antler queens, but Ifeel like Jackie Shawna versus Megan Isabella,
(10:16):
you know, obviously different different typesof shows. But I don't know.
I don't I don't think that Isabellais romantically into Megan. But it was
just like something where I was like, oh, if you're one of those
folks who is theorizing that, Iwould be clocking that. You know,
yeah, yeah, I, um, yeah, I entertained the thought,
(10:41):
um for sure, but um yeah, I don't know. I I don't
think it's I think it's possible butnot obvious. Um, but yeah,
Megan's Megan's feeling a little bits aboutLuke Amo was puking her face. You
(11:03):
could have been a lot more.I don't know why she I mean,
I get why she's embarrassed, butlike it's way more embarrassing for him.
I know. So I was like, I guess it's like the second hand
embarrassment. But yeah, even still, By the way, I just want
(11:24):
to stay up front, what didyou think of this episode? By the
way, Um, I really likedthis episode. I feel like I kind
of like I never totally bought thatLuke was like the best guy. Not
that I like didn't trust him,but I just like, I don't know,
I like, I am just not, um I'm not like eager to
(11:50):
like trust any of the men inthis town, Unfortunality, or really any
of the characters honestly. So forme, I kind of like I was
like, Oh, this is Ifinally saw what I was so worried that
Luke was, you know what Imean. So it's kind of like affirming
for me. Yeah, I meanI'm definitely disappointed because I I kind of
(12:18):
like, you know, I thoughthe was better than he was, but
I mean, until you know, the whole Isabella kiss thing. But um,
I I loved this episode so much. Yeah, I really did too.
I think it might have been oneof the best ones we've seen.
(12:39):
I think it's my favorite of theseason so far for so many reasons.
I think the direction of this episodewas so fantastic. I just god,
I loved it. And I'll youknow, and as we go through,
I'll get it, you're getting alittle hot there. Oh, I just
gotta hair my hair oh man.Um. But yeah, as I go
(13:07):
through, like, you know,i'll explain why I loved this episode so
much. But I just there wereso many like this had it had There
were so many great scenes in thisepisode that's just like, oh yeah,
really did performances too, Yeah,so many great performances, so many like,
(13:31):
so many great moments that really mademe feel like I was right there
with the characters. Yeah, Ireally felt like, um in the Summer
of nineteen ninety nine Timeline, Ifelt that m Sadie did such a great
job. Sadie who plays Megan, she was so fabulous and her and Luke
(13:54):
just have such good chemistry and theyreally make like the lines come to life,
and like it was just like reallycute and like sweet to like unfold.
Very high contrast, uh, youknow with the other timelines. But
yeah, yeah, it was avery enjoyable episode to watch. Yeah,
the two the two standout scenes forme, we're by far, the scene
(14:18):
at the pier with Luke and Meganand the scene in the woods with Steve
Ned and Brent. Yeah, thosewere the those were the two standouts for
me. And you know, whenwe get to those scenes, I'll I'll
I'll explain why, but I justI just thought they were fantastic. Um
(14:39):
but uh yeah, so Megan andIsabella. Megan and Isabella are cleaning out
the house and I love this,Kelly Great, I'm so sorry, but
the party wrapped at ten pm.Yeah we can clean the house the night
of. There's like, I don'treally cake out. And also I gotta
(15:03):
say they were like, oh yeah, we found cups in Debbie's closet.
I'm like, I knew you weregoing to comment on that hit in And
also, if anything, there wouldbe jello on the floor from those jello
shots. I threw a birthday partythat went on for a really long,
long ass time this year, andthat my boyfriend and I cleaned up the
(15:28):
house the same night at literally threeam because we're already up so we're like,
okay, let's just do it.So I don't know if a party
wrapped at ten pm, and alsoyour parents were coming back, you think
you just clean it up, Likewhy would you have your parents come back
to like solo cups like thrown inthe bushes. Yeah, yikes. I
(15:58):
don't remember the house being a messthough. When Stephen Debbie came home.
Yeah, it didn't seem that muchof a mess when they came home.
Yeah, yes, that's that's kindof weird. But yeah, like Debbie
found found a beer in her closetand she didn't like completely freak out.
(16:18):
He's not like freaking out, She'slike whatever. I mean, It's like,
I guess we know she's pretty chill, so I guess she's cool with
underage drinking. Yea um. Also, Real Fast Waterfalls by TLC was playing
at the very opening of this episode. Yes, yes, it was.
Oh wait, no, no,no, no, it was creep.
(16:40):
Oh wait what? Oh my god? Did I confuse waterfalls and creep?
Are you serious? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, TLC's creep. Oh TLC's
creep. I thought you might creepmy radiohead. I was like, no,
no, no, I was like, oh oh my god, I
literally need to go get an MRIafter this, Like, yeah, no,
(17:08):
it's I it's so funny because thatlike that song has been stuck in
my head for days, like eversince I first watched it, Like because
that's funny. I do because Idon't have a ton of sitting tolerance.
So I do my notes over threedays like I do my I do my
(17:34):
notes for one timeline, and thenI do Then the next day I do
my notes for the next timeline. So I do. I'm like that.
And so I've had creep stuck inmy head for Oh and I watched the
episode straight through without doing notes,so I can like just watch it and
(17:55):
enjoy it first. So I soI basically watched the episode four times.
Yeah, and so I've had creepstuck in my head for four days out.
Oh my gosh, it's so funny. Um but yeah, I um,
(18:18):
yeah, Debbie found a cup ofbeer in her closet. Tim's missing
a sock. Um, like, what on earth? What was on?
Who knows? I don't want toknow. Um, classic Eric Shenanigans.
I'm surprised they didn't find any pukeum yeah, or like a condom honestly.
(18:42):
Yeah, when no one brought overany of the sex toys from whatever
store they sent the other ones fromIsabella's yard, Oh yeah no was.
I feel like that'd be fun forLuke's birthday, especially since there was a
stripper there, right, crazy crazykids. So Luke stops by to clean
(19:06):
up, to help clean up.Um. Once they're done, he uh,
he heads out to go lock upthe cabin before it starts storming,
and Isabella kind of urges Megan togo with him to help out. Um
smart, Yeah yeah, and uh, it's it's kind of cute, like
(19:30):
they're going through old boxes and theyfind some old walkie talkies that they used
to play with, and um,they start they start reminiscing. Um they
they start kind of like running throughthe woods as kids. Um they it's
(19:55):
it's it's just really cute and kindof you know, it's it's sweet.
Um. Have you did you everplay with walkie talkies? Kelly? I
actually did not really. Yeah, how about you? Yeah, well yeah,
I used to use walkie talkies onmy job a lot as a CBS
page, And even though that wasfor work, I would still have fun
(20:22):
with it. I like to aska lot of hypothetical questions during our workshifts
over the walkie talkies. But thenI also did have like a long um
drive with some friends who we weredriving into separate cars, so we did
get walkie talkies and they worked solike we were able to communicate with each
other usually when we were like directlyin front of each other. If we
(20:45):
were too far apart, we wouldn'tWe wouldn't be able to connect, but
you know, we were able totalk to each other. It's a lot
of fun. Gotcha, Um sorry, real fast Um. I thought it
was an interest seeing costume choice thatMegan is now back to her overalls,
but she's in a different color ofoveralls. She's in white, which I
(21:08):
feel like it's a little you know, it's like when we met her,
she was in the denim overalls, which is very girl next door. Then
we've kind of seen her go throughthis like extreme girly girl evolution, and
now I feel like the white overallsit's like, uh, kind of like
(21:29):
meeting in the middle, you know, of like the overalls are who she
kind of is, or like herbaseline, but these are a little bit
more like, I don't know,they're like a little more feminine. They're
a little more like, you know, untraditional kind of cute. So I
was like, oh, like that'sthat's cute. And it was interesting to
see her like go back to thatoutfit again. Yeah. Yeah, like
(21:55):
you know you don't want to,Yeah, you have to. If you're
wearing white overall, you have toactually like worry about them getting dirty and
stuff. Perfect for cleaning up duringa party. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
exactly. Um, so yeah,it's super cute. They're running around
through the woods and they find thisold tree stump that you know that they
(22:19):
remember, and it's She comments that, you know, it used to seem
a lot bigger, and uh,She's like it's it's it's like what you
used to see something a million timesand one day you look at it and
it's just completely different, you know, kind of like like a metaphor for
for her and Luke. They madethe that's what she said joke at the
(22:42):
same time together. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that was cute.
That was cute. Um. Theycontinue to okay, this, this was
funny. They continue to run aroundthe woods and Luke runs into Ned And
(23:03):
what's funny about this is, like, I just I got really confused at
first because I was like mixing upmy timelines and I for a second I
totally thought that this was after hehad run into him in the parking lot.
Oh gosh, that would be Imean, this was a pretty scary
tense moment. Yeah, yeah itwas. And I like, but I
(23:29):
thought it was even more tense thanit was because I thought it was like
I was like, oh, yeah, he doesn't want to be running into
him now. But I'm like,oh wait, no, this is a
totally different timeline. Yeah. Imean I feel like if it was on
the same timeline, that would almostbe more justified why Luke reacted so like
frozen in fear, whereas like thisis like Ned was just kind of like
(23:55):
giving his little smoldering look and hewas like, hey, like get off
my property. And then he waslike, first, let me fix your
walkie talking and put it on adifferent frequency. And I love that.
Luke goes there's other frequencies and he'slike, oh god, this guy,
his boy is so stupid, sofunny, Oh my gosh. U So
(24:22):
yeah. So Ned actually helps himwith this walkie talkie, but he warns
him to stay on his side ofthe property. Um. Luke finds lucas
you know, running around still tryingto find Megan. Then he finds her
(24:45):
sitting at the dock and they mentioned, well he started one of my two
favorite scenes. Like he sits downnext door and they like, he shows
her, he shows her scar thathe still has. Oh, um,
(25:11):
I'm sorry, guys, something juststarted playing. Um. Anyway, he
sits down and shows her a scarthat he still has on his hand,
and um, what what was thescar from? Again? It's uh so
(25:32):
they both carved their initials onto theedge of the dock, and um,
he was like, oh, Istill have the scar from like scraping in
the letters. Oh okay, Andthen they start holding hands and it's like
really kind of you know, um, you know, it's just very y'all,
(25:55):
like kind of like kind of awkward, but but a comfortable awkward.
But I this scene was so brilliantbecause like, as I was watching this,
I totally felt like I was sixteenagain, Like I was sixteen or
(26:23):
seventeen again and was watching myself withlike one of my old high school boyfriends.
Oh my god, I wish thatwas me watching myself. I wish
I saw that. And I waslike, man, nothing ever turned out
(26:44):
like me like like that much likea movie. And it's not even like
oh I think this is cliche orlike oh whatever, it's like no,
I love that. I just wish. I wish I had a moment like
that of like cuteness. Nothing thatcute happened to me. Um. I
also really like color Blind by CountingCrows was playing I thought that was cute,
(27:11):
very like, um, I don'tknow, like we're gonna kiss and
the year is nineteen ninety nine songs, So I have a confession that may
or may not make a lot ofpeople hate me. Oh oh my god.
There are two songs that if Iever decide to go on killing spree.
(27:38):
Oh my, oh my god, well we'll probably be playing. Not
because like not because I think they'dbe like, you know, great zombie
killing songs or something. But whatbecause the song caused me to go on
a killing spree. Oh yes,I figured it wasn't zombies. I thought
(28:00):
it was mass murder. Yeah, yeah, it's because the song. It's
because the song made me commit massmurder? Is it? Oh? It
is? And Fireflies by Elcity that'sso Wait? Why does fireflies make you
want to kill everyone? I justhate it so much. Everything is never
(28:29):
as it seems, Kelly. Imean, there's never been truer words.
You did not believe your eyes.I'm not killing and triggered Kelly right now,
just so everyone knows, I justI just really feel compelled to say
(28:51):
the words to fireflies. Everyone curlSummer Camp is looking for a new co
host. I knew I pushed ittoo far. I couldn't go beyond all
Star. I am buy that. That's a fun song. I'm kidding.
(29:12):
I'm kidding. I'm like, II love it. I love to talk
about about this about music that Ihate. But I'm not one to yuck
anybody's yum, that's whatever you like. I won't judge you for it.
I just like talking about the stuffthat I hate as well as love it.
I mean I do. I'm notthe pillar of musical intelligence, you
(29:33):
know what I mean. I don'tcare how auto tuned anything is. I'll
be like, that's great, Ilove it. No seriously, Like,
hey like what you like? Ifit makes you happy, I'm glad.
Hell yeah, my uh yeah,I like. Um, I like some
(29:55):
embarrassing shit. So like I like, you wouldn't believe some of the ship
that I listened to. Um wouldnot believe your eyes. Oh God.
When I don't like something, whenI make fun of something or I don't
(30:15):
like it, it's just a person. It's just a personal thing. It
has nothing to do with anybody wholikes it. Like, like, I
have to tell a funny story realfast. I want to an electronic dance
night and um, they played likefire They played fireflies just like I mean,
(30:37):
it's like they're playing like thousand years, I mean like trad like electronic
music. And then they started playingfireflies and everyone like lost their mind.
Oh my god. It was themost like it was so goofy, but
like people were like screaming the words. I've never seen that many people so
(31:00):
excited to hear our city. Okay, can I tell you a song that
that everybody that I always get madefun of? Yees I, Sarah like
it because everybody, like everyone Ilike, it seems like every time this
song comes up, everybody makes funof it and and like hates the hell
(31:22):
out of it. Cake by theOcean. Oh, that's like a really
fun song. Oh my god,I love that. I love that,
dude, like actually about like buttsor something. Isn't it my Cake by
the Ocean like means something. Ithink it's about oral sex. WHOA,
(31:48):
I don't know, but every timei'd hear that song, now I think
about the wilds Oh do they playthat? Yeah? And it was a
really it was a really funny Umit was played in a dream, that's
funny. It was a really itwas a really funny dream too. I
like that song. See, I'mI'm like not embarrassed by anything because I
(32:09):
literally, un ironically like Pitbull music. So yeah, that's cool man.
Also because he's my dad, youknow, yeah, exactly. Yeah,
although although I'm still mad though,I'm still mad at him though for stealing
I know you want me for me? That's yeah, No, that's that's
(32:30):
wrong of him. I'm gonna discussit when I see him in concert.
Yeah, I mean, like youknow, because I yeah, I mean,
you know, when he went tomeet me at the airport and and
then turned around and started running awaywhen he saw it, saw that I
had a baby with me, andI started screaming I know you want me
(32:52):
and then turned it into a songlike I was. I was kind of
upset about that. But that's rude. I know, that's rude. Um
and now anywhere la x dumpster yeaman, And now you're a bear that
(33:12):
gets drunk on four logo Yeah,oh yeah, Oh my god. If
that's what this bear is drinking towonder, it's all crazy. Yeah.
I love that. Oh man,all right, I'm sorry, guys,
we're getting off on a tangent now, people are gonna now people are gonna
leave us nasty reviews. Sorry anyway, So Megan and Luke kiss. It's
(33:36):
adorable, Yes, yes, it'svery adorable. Um and oh it actually
that's hand of Summer nineteen ninety nine. Not a lot happened, not a
whole lot happened in that timeline, but it was very it was but it
was very um. It was verysweet though, yeah, you know,
it was. It was interesting becauseI feel like we haven't um in the
(33:58):
series seen storyline that's just kind oflike one moment. I mean obviously,
like this is over the span oflike a couple hours, but I just
mean like we just pretty consistently staywith like Lucan Megan, and it was
different. But I really liked it, and I felt like it built up
their relationship really nicely, and itkind of like broke up like what we've
(34:22):
seen in the show pretty nicely.Yeah, I think so, I think
so. All right, So divinginto Winter ninety nine, So from last
episode, you know, we knowthat Luke Luke had sex with Megan,
and he also told Megan that Isabellakissed him, and Megan believes him.
(34:49):
So Isabella comes into Megan's room,Megan is being really avoidant. Isabella is
like trying to be friendly, youknow, She's like, oh, my
New Year's resolution is to start freendand Megan's being very passive aggressive. She's
like, oh, well, youdo like get messy, don't you.
Yeah. It's like ooh ooh,Like what is that supposed to mean?
(35:13):
Ikey, don't like that. Justcommunicate, you know, But of course
they're they're not going to. Iget it. It's like, you know,
why why communicate when you can meetpassive aggressive. So then we see
Megan and Luke. I believe they'reat a co op shopping for supplies for
(35:34):
New Year's Eve. Luke puts onthe iconic two thousands glasses, which I
feel like are having kind of aresurgence recently or like people I feel like
ever since it was like twenty ten. They were like, oh man,
we're gonna miss those, you knowwhat I mean? Yeah? Yeah,
and he uh yeah, he's talkingabout getting some Why two cocktails and getting
(35:57):
Why two crunk. Yeah. It'svery He's he's feeling like Party eight not
it's crazy. So anyway, soMegan is still dwelling on Isabella kissing Luke.
And she's like, hey, thisdoesn't make sense, um, But
Luke is kind of like trying torefocus it. He's like, oh,
well, like Isabella's jealous and possessive. She's he says, she's always happiest
(36:22):
when we're in a rough place becauseshe gets to swoop in with her cape
and play super bff um and it'skind of like tides Megan over. But
I kind of feel like she hasn'tlike fully bought it. Yeah, yeah
of him, because like, yeah, yeah, I mean I definitely do
(36:45):
think there is like seeds of honesty, but it's like I do think it's
manipulative. It's like you said,it's like I mean he's bringing up all
these things actively lying to this girl, and also I mean it's to further
his intentions of looking like the sweetguy by demonizing her best friend. Yeah.
So it's like so very bad Luke, very very bad. Honestly,
(37:08):
of all the chambers men, Ifeel like Steve Luke might be second where
I think Brent might actually be thebest chambers man. Unfortunate god, because
it's like with Brent at least, like you know, he's a sleezebag and
then he is a sleezbag. He'snot like, oh no, but I'm
the nice one that's fate and Idon't know, I want to sex stape
(37:37):
you know that about him? Ohmy gosh. Um okay. So Megan
is in the parking lot and shesees ned. He is like really strung
out, um, like the worstwe've probably ever seen him. He doesn't
like that she's wearing a white twoka diara. Um. He grabs her
(38:00):
by the shoulders and is shaking herum, and he's like, you know,
irreversible damage is hours away. Sohe's like really freaking out. Um,
which is kind of like, Idon't know, didn't you guys work
on his home security system? Likeshouldn't he be okay? But I guess
he's worried about like all technology. So yeah, and he's but he's like
(38:24):
yeah, and he's upset that she'sjust not taking it seriously, like,
well, she has a hat onher head. It's like, okay,
well come on, like huh. Also she's in high school, Like,
yeah, I'm shaking my head.I have to do it very wide in
this. In this, it's likea full body swing, you know.
(38:46):
Um. Okay, So Luke rushesin to be you know, macho man
savior. He pushes Ned off ofher, and then he really gets in
Ned's face, and then Luke shovesNed and Ned pushes Luke against the car.
They're having this like awful back andforth fight and then finally, like
(39:09):
Megan breaks it up really intense.God, the guy's in his town.
Man. Ah. Yeah, Ican't wait to talk about Ned at the
end of this episode because yeah,I don't know, I have some I
have some interesting thoughts. Well,I don't know if my thoughts are interesting,
(39:30):
but I have new thoughts, sodo I Actually? Yeah, okay,
fabulous. So then Megan and Lukearrive at Megan's house. It seems
like they're kind of like arguing overthe fight that just transpired with Luke and
Ned. Megan tells Luke he needsto chill out, which he does.
(39:50):
I don't. It's like I dothink Luke was kind of like hyped up
on, like I don't know, like proving himself to Megan or something.
M you know. Yeah. Um, Megan said she's never seen Ned like
that, and I mean we neverhave either, so I don't know,
but we knew that Ned would befreaking out he really does think it's the
(40:13):
end of the world, you know, yeah, for sure. Also you
know, um, I just Ijust want to point something out. What's
so funny is that one thing thatI mentioned before I watched this episode.
I I don't think I said thison the show, but I mentioned it
to my husband. Something that wasdriving me nuts about all of the shows
(40:37):
that I've watched recently to take placein the nineties. One thing that I
have not seen, well, twothings that I have not seen that were
all over the place in the ninetiesbody glitters, body glitter, and we
finally saw a beeper. Yes,we finally saw a beeper. So I
(41:00):
feel like there should be like oneBlackBerry or it's BlackBerry. That's a little
too. That's like two thousand andthree. Yeah, that was Um,
that was a little later. Palmpilots. Palm pilots were kind of oh
yeah, um, those were emerging, but they were still kind of I
(41:21):
think they were still still somewhat rare. Um. It was like the palm
pilot and then t Mumbile sidekicks werelike the next big thing. L Yeah,
but I think like I was tryingto figure out what it was that
(41:42):
the things that Ned had in hiscase, it is house that Megan was
looking at, and I was wondering, Yeah, like I thought that those
were palm pilots, but I wasn'tentirely sure that's atally. I mean,
I could totally see him having likea second phone with like his little hacker
buddy. Is that's like the phonethey or the page or that they page
(42:02):
or you know what I mean somethinglike that. Yeah. Like I remember
my dad had a cell phone backin the early nineties. M hmmm um,
and that was like one of thosebig like bag cell phones. We
(42:23):
actually had to like carry a bagaround. Um. And I remember one
of my friends had a cell phonein like ninety eight ninety nine. Um
that that was also pretty like thatwas also pretty big. But um,
(42:51):
but most of my friends still hadbecause I was still like I wasn't a
teenager anymore, but I was stillpretty young. Rum, So my friends
and I were all, like, you know, twenty twenty one, I
think, Um, I think mostof my friends still had beepers back then.
That's that's wait, so okay, not to take up more time,
(43:15):
but like, how does beeper work? Okay, Well, so I think
most people are going to be like, you can't send messages on a beeper,
but okay, because the way itworks is you you call the beeper
number. So somebody gives you theirbeeper cell phone number. Uh, you
(43:35):
call their beeper, and then youget like you get a message. You
get like a message, and thenyou put in the you put in the
phone number to call um where youwant the person to call you. Oh,
and then a number shows up ontheir peeper. I see, so
(44:00):
I'll they get as a phone number. But my friends and I like we
would if we were like, wewould sometimes send each other codes, huh.
So like um, like okay,I'm thinking of one in particular.
(44:23):
Um, just like just so wewouldn't have to call, you know,
right, so like let let somebodyknow something. So like I'm thinking one
in particular where like I was,I was supposed to check if somebody was
if somebody was already somewhere one ofus were meeting up somewhere, And I
(44:45):
was supposed to call and call myfriend's peeper and let them know if somebody
was already somewhere. So I calledfor beeper and I typed in like thirty
two or something, and that wasthe code to say, like, so
(45:06):
and so is here. I see. Um. So they probably had a
code that if Tim's parents showed upearly, Um, Tim would would would
let everybody know that's that's fun.Um. Yeah. So on that note,
(45:30):
so apparently Tim's parents came home early. The party at his house is
off. I would love to seeNow that we've seen Luke's version of this
party, I would love to seetim the version because you know, would
be like the half assed version.Oh my god, yeah, just disastrous.
Um, the party can't be atMegan's house because Debbie has the flu?
(45:53):
Yeah, hi, the four twentyflu. Yeah flu. I'm like,
was was the actress like off filmingsomething else? Like is this just
again on the thing of Debbie beingsick? Like what I know? I
(46:15):
don't understand, Like what is upwith Debbie's help? I don't I don't
get it, Like, what's withall the references to her being sick?
I don't get it? Um,I hope that has payoff? Uh.
There there is some stuff that's inthis show that I'm like, like,
like the Polar Bear that I'm like, if this does not have payoff,
(46:39):
I'm gonna be so confused, likewhat they were just like, oh,
no, we gotta get footage ofthis. No, we have to have
them say this line about Debbie havingthe flu like it's very it's very funny.
Um. So so, but Lucasreally hell bent on having this party.
(47:00):
It's really interesting because Megan's says alot in this timeline, well maybe
this is a sign, like maybethis is a sign we shouldn't party.
But also like earlier she's like, well maybe this is a sign, like
Luke and I shouldn't be together.Maybe this is a sign whatever. So
I'm like, oh, that's interestingbecause I think she's just such a logical
(47:22):
person. I'm really surprised that she'slike, I don't know, like reading
fate into things. Yeah. Um, doesn't really seem like her. But
anyway, So Luke has an ideato throw the New Year's Eve party at
the cannery, which his dad hasa key too. I guess it's real
(47:45):
estate property that they have, whichis hey, another thing from season one.
We love our we love ours withkeys to new places. Yeah I
didn't even think about that. Sofunny. Um. It's also really funny
because these two seasons were written andshow run by two completely different people.
(48:09):
Yeah, they had the same freshidea twice individually. Um, goofy.
So Luke goes to his dad's officeand Steve is pissed. He is reming
Luke out, and Luke is tryingto explain that, like he had good
(48:30):
intentions, he was defending Megan Um. But all Steve really says, I
mean, Steve really just emphasizes thatit's bad that people saw him fighting with
Ned when um, you know, apparently he has long history of fighting with
ned Um, which you know wedidn't really know about. But that kind
(48:53):
of tracks um, you know, that's his fault. What was that?
That's Steve's fault, you know, like, don't blame your kid for your
problems. He was in a situation. He's a kid. Yeah, he
doesn't know what to do. Hehad to use his best judgment. Yeah
exactly. Also, it's like kindof I feel like that is on Ned.
(49:16):
My first instinct when I saw thisscene happening is like, why is
this adult man trying to fight ahigh schooler? Like exactly, very bad.
And also it's like that's so Lukeshouldn't be getting yelled at. Steve
should be calling Ned being like, how dare you lay hands on my son?
Yeah? And like lay hands onMegan? And also, of course
(49:40):
Debbie should be involved, is sheNo? She probably doesn't even know this
happened. Anyway, another parenting lessonbrought to you by Cruel Summer Camp.
So, yeah, Steve says goodinstinct, lousy execution. Have to just
agree, have to say, um, he has Steve has bad instinct and
(50:05):
bad execution. And that's that's myreview on that. Yes, Um,
I really love Brent this episode.Didn't think I would say that. I
really like, Um, the actor'sperformance he gave as Brent H Braden.
Am I saying his name right? Is it Braden? Yeah? Okay,
(50:27):
he kills it as Brent, andI feel like he brings a lot of
depth to the character. Um alsoreally interestingly get all these like sweet moments
of Brent this yeah, which iskind of switching up my feory. I
have more thoughts on this that wecan talk about at the end. Um.
So, anyway, Brent is likeright outside the door when Luke comes
(50:49):
out. He tells Luke he justneeds to keep his head down. But
Luke is like, well, actually, I want to throw a party at
the Canary and steel Dad's keys, and then Brent like, oh yeah,
that's a great idea in the keys. He's like, oh yeah, go
do it. Um, So thatwas really funny. He says, seriously,
(51:09):
if you do get busted, Iwill serve you up on a platter,
which I thought was like, youknow, he's like an app He's
like, it's still hit. He'sstill in character as the douche frint,
you know, yeah, yeah forsure. Meanwhile, Megan is alone in
her bedroom and she took a pregnancytest and found out she's pregnant. Um,
(51:37):
how many days has has passed sincethe plunge? One? Two?
Yeah, yeah, just a coupleof days. So it's it's not it's
it's not Luke's Yeah. I wasgonna say, Okay, I was gonna
say that was a bad story thingbecause I was like, there there's no
(52:00):
age they could detect a pregnancy likeone too. Even three days after conception,
she didn't notice that she's pregnant.Wait, wait, went to the
(52:20):
we don't actually know when they firstslept together. Now, yeah, I
mean they could have slept together beforewhat we saw on screen, But do
you think she's prep I mean,I also think that it's possible that she
had sex with someone else and itis someone else's kid. Yeah, I
(52:45):
could be. Yeah, a lotof people in the comments of Cruel Summer,
we're saying that they think it's Ned'sbaby. Yeah, I think I
saw that. God, that wouldbe so disturbing, that would be so
creepy. I mean, that wouldbe like beyond Martin Harris levels of creepiness.
(53:07):
Yeah. Yeah, I hope theydon't go that route. I don't.
I can't imagine that they will.I feel like there's more of a
chance of it being Jeff's and thatmaybe she did have sex with Jeff or
something. But anyway, this isjust like kind of a funny scene because
(53:29):
I don't okay, Like I gotthe sense that when they when they had
when Luke and Megan had sex,it felt like it was the first time
they were having sex. Yeah.Yeah, I got that feeling too.
But they could have just led usto believe that, like just to confuse
(53:52):
us, you know, Yeah, that's true. Okay, So I don't
know, just some some funny businessgoing on. Anyway. Megan's pregnant.
Meanwhile, though she arrives at Luke'sparty more notes on the party. There
is no way that that boy setup all that by himself at this factory.
(54:19):
Hell no, hell no. Whogot the disco ball hanging that high?
Not without a seven foot ladder? You didn't, no, yeah,
he yeah, There's no way,no no way, no where. If
that was a real party thrown byLuke Chambers, Okay, this is how
(54:39):
it would go. It's literally aCanary factory. It would be completely dark.
They would have flashlights and someone whoplay music off a boombox and that's
the best. That's the best youget. And there is a keg there.
Dude. I mean my I I'vebeen to a couple of parties like
(55:00):
you're describing and we had a greattime. Yeah, oh yeah for sure.
But I'm like, that's like thereal version of like high schooler trying
to throw a cool party, youknow. Yeah, yeah, everything just
looks so nice. Um, Ithought Megan was wearing a dress. I
(55:22):
wish that top was a dress. It was just a top, which is
kind of a bummer, but Ireally like it. Um it's very cute.
Um Like, there weren't a lotof dresses going on back then.
Oh really, it was more likeminiskirts and stuff. I guess right.
I feel like I feel like youwere either wearing like like a miniskirt like
(55:47):
a Micromini or or um or youknow, or like the dressover jeans.
Look. Yeah, literally, noone showed up like that weird um A
(56:08):
weird kid with some kind of holstersomething walks by. Did you catch that?
Now there's some kind of like guywith a holster. I don't know
if he had a gun. Idon't know if he was a weapon.
He had something attached to like hisbelt. And wow, uh Luke and
(56:30):
Meghan were like whoa, Like peopleare taking this end of the world thing
really seriously? How did I missthat? God damn, I need to
go back and watch that. Yeah. I don't know what he had on
his person because it happened so fastand I just couldn't see it. And
also he doesn't look like he's thereto celebrate, you know what I mean.
He's kind of in like camo print. He looks like, you know,
(56:52):
he means business. Oh boy, kind of weird, very creepy.
You wouldn't now in our year attwenty twenty three, you see that guy,
you'd be like, I'm end theparty. But uh yeah, so
we get kind of like a cutawayscene of Jeff at the party recording,
(57:15):
which I feel like there's gonna endup being some videotape. They make such
a point of showing Jeff recording somuch, and it's not recording, Megan,
it's not recording, Isabella. It'sjust Jeff recording. It's like,
why is Jeff getting his own likecutaway scenes here? You know? And
(57:35):
he's asking people like what their NewYear's resolutions are, what they want to
do if the world is ending. One of the girls, one of the
Santa Girls from Christmas in July, says, you know, she doesn't want
to die a virgin. There's areally funny line here, um where I
(57:58):
think it's like Tim is like, hey, I'm right here, um and
Parker that says she said the rightguy not a mouth breathe breather. Yes.
O god, I really got veryfunny. Hum. Yeah, Meganness,
(58:21):
I thought you had that you hadsomething. No. I just love,
um, I just absolutely love Eric'sline. Eric's line delivery here was
just fucking brilliant. He's like,I'm afraid of the roue apocalypse. Oh
(58:43):
yeah, that was so funny, and I'm like, dude, I'm his
worst nightmare. I'm a cyborg, you are, But the lookout of face
like, oh man, if heonly knew about AI right now, he
would be he must be forty yearold. Eric is freaking out. Yep,
(59:07):
Oh my god. I I laughedso goddamn heart at that line.
Just the look on his face ashe said it was just it was just
brilliant. He's so good, reallygood, feeling good, shining moment,
shining moment for Eric. Yes,Megan is prepping some punch uh, and
(59:34):
Isabella comes up. Megan's still beingreally passive, aggressive and cold. Um,
and then I mean, honestly, they get right into it. Megan's
like, hey, do you havesomething to tell me, Like, I
know, you kissed Luke and Isabel'slike, well, that's not what happened.
Um, he kissed me, whichMegan like, you see a look
(59:55):
pass over her face where it's likeshe really does believe that, and then
it kind of like retracts and she'slike, well like if that was the
case, then why didn't you tellme? Like you know, she gets
defensive, like really fast, andIsabelle says, you always pick his side
over mine. Um, you knowwhich is I don't know, that's really
(01:00:17):
sad. Okay, do you doyou think that is true? Um?
I don't know. I don't knowthat we've I don't know that we've seen
a lot of evidence of that oror evidence of the contrary. Yeah,
(01:00:39):
I'm gonna say I I agree withyou. I was like, oh,
like, I feel like that's alwayslike if you're in a fight between your
best friend and your boyfriend, thisis where you don't want to end up,
right, you don't want to endup where you're I mean situation aside,
because obviously that's that's its own matter, but it's like, you don't
(01:01:00):
want to end up where your friendis saying like, oh, you always
pick your boyfriend over me. ButI'm like, I really, I don't
think Megan does that that we saw, but I don't know it's I guess
Luke presented the information to her first. Yeah it's yeah, I mean it's
(01:01:35):
she seemed like, yeah, Idon't know. I don't know what to
think about it, to be honest, to be honest with you, UM,
but you know what, I justhave to say, I'm so glad
(01:01:57):
that they m I'm I was reallyhappy over the language that they used in
this scene. Um, I justsaid last time I checked, Rider died
and included macking on my boyfriend.I have not heard all puppy um or
kitty kitty, not poppy puppy um. Your your cat like your cat really
(01:02:27):
likes to show it's But yeah,I like, whoa hold on? This
isn't an X rated podcast? Keach? Like, I love it. I
love it to be friends with thebear head. That's so awesome. That's
fantastic. Um. I The onlything that would be better would be if
you had a dog and it startedhumping it. Oh my god, that
(01:02:50):
would be so do not walk acrossthis computer, beach. I love pat
cameos, Like the funnier the better. It's the best. She's been dying
to come over here. Oh theseepisodes, so it's awesome. Um,
but yeah, I haven't heard Ihaven't heard the word macan or you know,
(01:03:12):
like, ah, I haven't heardthat more usually so long. So
I was really happy that they thatthey chose that for so good, so
good. Um yeah, So Megangoes to talk to Luke about this,
and she ends up overhearing Luke talking. I believe to Tim and Eric,
(01:03:36):
Oh my god, it's an awfulconversation. That is we got to be
like one of the most devastating conversationsyou can over here in high school.
Like I if I were Megan,it would take all of my strength to
not just go over there and justfucking clock every single one of them in
(01:03:59):
the face exactly, And that shekind of like puts on a little performance
the whole time is just wild,Like that's crazy restraint. Yeah, he's
bragging about having sex with both Isabellaand Megan. He says he has them
wrapped around his finger and he's teeingup a threesome. He literally admits to
(01:04:23):
making a move on Isabella, buthe says, you know, she's super
into it. And then, Imean the final blow of it all is
he says, I've got to getsome practice in for college. So like
as if like this thing with Meganisn't even serious, which like I mean,
(01:04:45):
like we're led on to believe it'spretty serious. Like I don't know,
I kind of feel like they weretrying to date each other through being
in college. Like I think that'sprobably what Megan would have wanted. So
just devastating conversation. I mean, you know that there's just a strong likelihood
(01:05:06):
that he's just saying all of thisto like impress his friends. Oh totally
doesn't mean any of it. ButI mean that's not any better because he's
letting them like he sees the horrible, horrible, horrible way that Isabella is
being treated, and and yet likehe's just he's letting them talk to him
(01:05:30):
like he's some kind of studd andhe's just playing right into it. Oh,
It's it's disgusting. Like even ifMegan was like, oh, well,
I know he's lying about all thatstuff, it's like, which I
mean, we do know obviously aboutthe tape, he's making that up.
But um, even if you werelike, oh, it's just like boys
being boys, it's like gross.I would never want to hear my partner
(01:05:54):
talking about me like that. No, No, it's disgusting. It's it's
so absolutely disgusting. Oh God.So Megan runs off back into the party.
She bumps into Jeff Funk three GetNext to You by Novi is playing
fun song and Jeff can tell Megan'sdistraught. He asks what her resolution is
(01:06:19):
and she says it's to take charge. Of her life and he's like,
m what does that mean? Butthen you know Megan's gone. She runs
up to Isabella, she tells herlike, hey, I know exactly what
the truth is. Isabella suggests theyjust forget about Luke and they just have
a fun night together. She's nottrying to plan something crazy. She's not
(01:06:43):
trying to like be manipulative or seekrevenge here, like she's just trying to
She's really ready to fully accept Meganback. First off, she's just ready
to be her friend again, whichis like she's such a good friend,
Like I I do think that,Like I don't know, I don't think
(01:07:05):
Megan deserves her as a friend.Yeah probably not um and Megan says she
wants major payback. Yeah yeah.If I were Asabella, this this is
this is about the point where I'dbe like, Okay, it's it's it's
(01:07:25):
been great, nogi yeah yeah yeah, it just be over. It's like,
well, you don't believe me whenI'm telling you the truth. And
I decided not to tell you thatbecause I wanted you to keep this relationship
with like your partner, like, which I feel like is a legitimate I
don't know, you know, it'slike she thought. It was like,
(01:07:46):
oh, just like it's just alittle mistake. It's not like they like,
full on slept with each other oranything. So she was like,
okay, like water under the bridge, Megan doesn't have to know it doesn't
you know, it doesn't need todestroy the relationship, which is also very
thoughtful, I think. So yeah, I would be like, let's you
(01:08:08):
know what you want to get backat, uh, you want to get
back at Luke. Let's um,let's just go make Jeff feel like a
total stud tonight and let's have athreesome with Jeff. And oh, it's
okay. When we get to thenext timeline, we'll end up hating Jeff.
(01:08:30):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, we don't hate him yet though
yet. Good thing they didn't havea threesome with him, because I still
feel like he would have ratted Meganout about the ideas. Yeah, yeah,
definitely a little little rat um anyway. So, um, give me
a reason that we've seen in literallyI've seen I've heard this song in like
(01:08:56):
any any like female protagonist and anything. I love that song. You know,
it's been in Yellowjackets, Uh my, my one of my favorite movies,
Wild it's in that too with ReeseWitherspoon. Um. So it's like
slow motion shot Omegan like going throughthe party. She comes up to Luke.
She is completely like performing at thispoint, she's acting super friendly,
(01:09:20):
super frisky. She tells him Isabellaleft yea um and now we're watching the
ball drop. She's really phoning itin. Um. She's very impressive at
it, um and she suggests toLuke that they go back to the cabin.
(01:09:41):
I am always so impressed, AndI said this about Um, and
I said this about Sammy Henrietty asas Misty Um this year too. I'm
always so so impressed when actors doa good job at like at faking it.
(01:10:03):
Yeah, like um, like whenthey when they do a good job
at at like at at at whenthey do a convincing job of portraying something
you're not that the character isn't feeling. M hmm what I'm trying to say.
(01:10:25):
So, like I she she dida really good job in that scene,
in that scene, like of ofshowing that she was pretending to like
be into the New Year's thing whenshe wasn't. Like one of my favorite
episodes of Sadie's like acting performance,I'd say as well, yeah, yeah,
she yeah, she did a reallygreat job. Um. Yeah,
(01:10:48):
this was just such a great episodeall around. And and my other favorite
scene is is coming up to you? Yeah, oh I can't wait anyway,
Kelly, why don't you take itaway with the Summer of y two
k Yeah. So it starts offwith Megan's lawyer coming over to tell her
(01:11:08):
he got a call from the sheriffand she's officially being charged. The next
scene that we see is uh,Steven Brent in Stege office and he had
(01:11:30):
hired an investigator to spy on Megan. He's letting Brent know that he found
out she's a hacker who steals infofrom websites and sells it interested buyers.
And he has picks of her andnet together, and apparently one of her
in Logan Paul together. Yeah, you know, there's like a picture of
(01:11:53):
her with some deer that looks justlike Logan Paul. I don't know if
you noticed that or not. Theyears two thousand, but somehow in this
Cruel Summer universe, he's still beencanceled in the year of two thousand and
we still don't like him, andeven Steve can admit he does not like
(01:12:14):
logan Paul. So did you noticedid you notice, like, did you
pick up on any kind of weirdvibes in the scene? Um hmmm,
I don't think so. Okay,But here's here's my explanation. Is I
(01:12:39):
feel like, okay, So Stevetalks about how him and Ned have been
at each other's throats property property linesand just like probably et cetera, justus
stuff in the town, they generallydisagree. I feel like, Okay,
Sometimes in my own life, I'vedefinitely seen neighbors swear it's like especially property
(01:13:02):
line stuff. Oh those fights likelast a lifetime, you know what I
mean. And then like your interactionswith those folks like are never pleasant,
is always passive aggressive. So II kind of believe that, um,
that each of them is a littleterritorial and like you know, they just
(01:13:26):
live different lifestyles. But I'm curiousto see what you think. Um.
Well, I mean, I wasn'tI didn't pick up on necessarily anything overt,
but I don't know, I wasjust picking up on some weird vibes
from Brent, And I don't know, like this is going to kind of
(01:13:53):
continue throughout this timeline with for Surewith Brent, I have I have some
new theories about Luke's death. Ohexciting Yeah? Um, so we then
um we then see Megan and herlawyer at the police station and we find
(01:14:21):
out she's not actually being charged withLuke's death. She's being charged with a
misdemeanor for making false ideas. Um. She Uh. The next scene that
we see after that is her runninginto to Jeff at the grocery store,
and we find out basically how shegot charged. So like he says his
(01:14:46):
parents are driving him to USC nextweek. M she tells him that she
might not be going to dub anymorebecause she maybe losing her scholarship over the
fake ID thing. Jeff tells herthat it was his fault that she got
busted because he got busted buying asix pack and he arked on Megan because
(01:15:10):
he couldn't explain how he copied thewatermark, like he really couldn't think of
any and also it's like it's alljust because he wanted to buy beer.
That's that's so stupid. Yeah,I mean, I'm sorry, dude,
Like, okay, I I feelfor him if he got scared and just
(01:15:30):
couldn't like figure out how to youknow, how to explain the watermark.
But dude, I'm sorry if Iwas doing something like that someone, Yeah,
I mean, I'm sorry, Butif I was, Like if I
was, if I was doing somethingillegal like that with somebody and I was,
(01:15:51):
I mean, that's gonna be theend of it. I'm not gonna
go buy beer, like unless they'redoing it with me, you know.
Yeah, there's no there's no waythere's with buying beer too. You get
(01:16:13):
caught, they're like, oh,how'd you get this fake ID? There
are so many other lies you couldmake up, and honestly, it's like,
what are they really gonna do foryou buying beer? Like she has
a Thank god she was still seventeen, otherwise she'd have for felony charge.
But it's like, so now atleast it's a misdemeanor. But I mean
(01:16:35):
that's so much worse than I'm prettysure like whatever he would have gotten if
he had just been caught with afake ID, he could have ruined her
life. I mean, like christit yeah, so yeah, fuck Jeff
(01:16:55):
um. Also, never make fakeIDs, no matter how easy it is.
Apparently, don't do it kids,Yeah, yeah, definitely. Um.
So we then see her she's backat her house and I'm sorry.
I'm sorry real fast, Kelly.Yeah, Megan says to Jeff in this
(01:17:19):
scene. See, you gave meup even though I kept your secret.
Yeah, which we still don't knowwhat's his secret. I think we'll find
out. I don't think there willtoo. I don't think it's about like
the fake ideas or whatever. Ithink this is something totally separate we don't
know about. Yeah. Yeah,I think so too. I don't think
(01:17:42):
they're just gonna drop it. Imean I think they I think she brought
it up so we wouldn't forget aboutit. You know, Wait, what
was the first mention of this ofhave we seen a previous mention in the
show of Jeff having a secret thatMegan knows? Yeah? It was the
Um it was the U how hepays for his camera equipment. Oh,
(01:18:08):
oh my gosh, I forgot aboutthat. Yeah. Yeah, so they
I think they brought it up sothat, like so that we you know,
we won't forget about it. Um. But yeah, so it's yeah,
he's a he's a fucking narc andum. Yeah he sucks. Um
(01:18:35):
so uh Bran comes over to Megan'shouse and he told her that Steve had
hired a PI to spuy honor.Um. He warns her about Ned and
how he stole a bunch of intellectualproperty from his employer and put his boss
(01:18:58):
in the hospital, and like he'sreally looking out for me, for Megan
big time, yeah, um,which you know is i mean, yeah,
they grew up together and everything,but it's it's not that's I mean,
that's not really that doesn't necessarily meananything to Brent. I'm not buying
(01:19:19):
it. Yeah, um yeah.I So we then see Megan go over
to Ned's house. Um, she'syou know, she tells him about her
misdemeanor, asks if there's anything hecan do to help her get rid of
(01:19:42):
it, but he says, actuallyto hack the courts database and get rid
of it, which is like,I mean that's that's a that's a huge
ask. Yeah, but yeah,I mean he like he's says, there's
you know, there's already a papertrail. There's nothing that can be done.
Um, but you know, he'slike he says, he insists that
(01:20:08):
she doesn't need She says she doesn'tneed a degree. Um, she only
one needs one if if she wantsto play by their rules. Um,
but it is like advice easier tolike dish out than to receive obviously.
I mean it's like that's easy forhim to say. Is like a grown
(01:20:30):
a grown man who's like already madehis way in tech, like at a
completely different time, you know,a decade than her. It's like,
I don't know, it's just veryfrustrating. It's like it's not that I
don't disagree with him, but I'mjust like, uh, like, poor
girl, that's just awful. Yeah. And this whole time she was worried
(01:20:55):
that she was going to lose thescholarship over the sex tape. I mean
that's nothing thing, yeah, versusthis and like all those lies about the
sex tape on it for you know, about Isabella, all the all the
grief that Isabella went through that's nowjust totally pointless because Megan lost her scholarship.
(01:21:15):
Anyway. It's like, oh yeah, it's it's incredibly frustrated, incredibly
frustrating. Um but uh yeah, you know, but of course, like
you know, he's he's not ahe's not into rule, so of course
he's going to say something like that. Yeah, UM. But she also
(01:21:42):
tells him that Steve's investigating him aboutLuke's murder. UM, and she brings
up him stealing ip and and attackinghis boss, and he screams, you
can't steal what was yours to beginwith. UM. They then uh.
(01:22:04):
They then go downstairs and he says, if Chambers is looking into me,
I'm going to look into him.So I'm really interested in where that's going
to go. I can't wait,Yes, can't wait. Let's take down
Steve Chambers. Yeah. Um.We see that he's got like nine security
(01:22:26):
cameras set up. We see likenine different nine different views. UM.
And Meghan, Steve's Megan sees Steve'svehicle approaching UM. She tries to slip
out and that she tells Ned thathe can't know she's there. Um.
He tells her to slip out theback. She runs into Brent on the
(01:22:47):
way out. M hm m.He pretends he didn't see her, so
Ned runs out with the shotgun.Mhmm. And this is my other favorite
scene in this episode. We seea confrontation between between Ned. It's Ned
(01:23:12):
and then Steve and Brent, andSteve is basically accusing Ned of killing Luke
of having something to do with LukeStaff and it's all of the acting from
all three of them is great andthe scene so good. Yeah, Oh
my god. The look the actorwho plays I had to take off my
(01:23:35):
head for this, The actor whoplays Ned, the look he has in
his eyes when he's looking at Steveand Brent, Like it's just like chra
manic, you know what I mean, Like you can just see it in
his eyes. It was just like, such a great scene, such a
great scene in the series. Itwas Now was it just am I imagining
(01:24:02):
things? Or was he looking atBrent a lot? Um? I don't
know. It was kind of hardto tell. Um. Also, I
feel like sometimes they cheat some ofthose angles, you know, um when
they do shot reverse shot. SoI'm not really sure, but I might
want to rewatch that and just look, um, see that again. Paul
(01:24:30):
Eidelstein killed it in the scene.I Paul Eilstein's a guy, complained,
Steve absolutely killed it in the scene. Um. But I okay, So
I like this whole episode, I'mthinking something is going something is weird about
(01:24:56):
Brent. Yeah, So this thescene that, like, all this time,
I've been convinced that Luke's death wasan accident. I've never thought anybody
murdered him. M hmm. I'vealways felt like it was probably an accident.
So this scene is it is whatkind of sealed two new theories for
(01:25:24):
me. Okay, I it reallyreally really um validated my belief that Luke's
death was an accident. But thisreally made me think that um Brent was
(01:25:45):
definitely involved. Oh yeah, agreed. And what I think happened is that
either either Luke was in danger, either from something happening to him or someone
(01:26:14):
trying to hurt him or him tryingto hurt himself m mmm. And Ned
thought this, tried to save him, Rent thought Ned was trying to hurt
(01:26:42):
him, tried to save Luke, and something went wrong in Luke ended up
dying. Yeah, I could totallybelieve that. My other theory is that
(01:27:04):
My other theory is that basically betweenI think something happened with Ned, Brent
and Luke m and I think thatsomebody either thought that someone was trying to
hurt the other someone stepped in andLuke accidentally got killed. Yeah. And
(01:27:29):
also I mean this altercation with Nedand Luke was within this like twenty four
hour time range. So like,if I was Brent, it makes sense
that I might believe that Ned,who, like you know, we already
kind of are led to believe likewe or like the Chambers family in particular,
(01:27:49):
you know, thinks he's kind oflike a weirdo and he's really on
edge, and he's got apparently beefwith Luke. He like literally like laid
hands on Luke. So like itwould make sense that Brent would believe that
Ned is trying to hurt um Luke. Yeah, yeah, um yeah,
(01:28:14):
I I I think one of thosethings happened. Um. I think some
or you know, or Luke couldhave been trying to step in. Um,
like you know, maybe Steven Brentwe're getting into it and Luke tried
to step in again, Like,I think that somebody's like there was some
(01:28:35):
there was some kind of situation withSteve Brent Luke. Someone stepped in and
there was an accident that led toLuke's death. Um, but it wasn't
it was messy and it looked reallybad. Um, and so there was
(01:28:57):
a good reason that they didn't goto the cops. Yeah, you know,
how do you think, um,the girls getting payback on Luke if
at all like plays into that.I think that's where the polar Bera Castro
come in. Um, Like Idon't know, Um, I don't know
(01:29:27):
how, but if h yeah,I don't know. I don't know how.
But well, um, and Istill think Brent, and I still
think Brent planted Isabella's stuff. Yes, I think so too. I okay,
(01:29:50):
So I think that when Isabella, when Megan tells Luke that Isabella left
the party, I think Isabella wentback home to the airstream, picked up
her pills, and then goes tothe cabin where she is already waiting for
(01:30:12):
Luke and Megan to arrive. Ithink she's going to put drugs in Luke's
food. And maybe like that's theextent of it, like he has a
crazy night. Maybe they even weregoing to lean him on to believe that
he did have a threesome with them, and you know something like that.
Like I think that's like kind ofthe gist of what they were going for,
(01:30:35):
or even drug him up to gethim to admit he's done all these
things and get it on tape somethinglike that. Maybe Jeff is in the
mix there too. Anyway, that'swhat I think that plan is and then
yeah, I mean I completely agree. I I could see Brent showing up
(01:31:00):
to the cabin with Parker to hookup, like and then that's what gets
him there. And then there's analtercation or some kind of perceived altercation with
the girls and Brent perhaps, andthen Ned gets in the way. I
think you're spot on though, whereI think it's some kind of interaction between
(01:31:25):
three these three men and um,like just a miscommunication and it leads to
Luke's death. Yeah, yeah forsure. And then also just the final
scene of this episode in the twothousand timeline, Megan gets a call from
the Principle they revoked her scholarship. So yeah, as we as we probably
(01:31:45):
you know, as we surmised,Yeah, I think we guess was probably
going to happen. You know whatthough, I just remembered, Um,
I just remembered it was like episodeone or two, we saw Megan scrubbing
a cabin floor. Yeah, alot of bloods. Yeah, so I
(01:32:06):
wonder what that was about, youknow now, I'm I'm wondering if that
had to do with the bloody sheets. I did. I did a poll
on our Instagram stories, and Iwould say, the majority of people think
that it is from the miscarriage,A smaller amount of people think it is
Luke's blood, and then there wasmaybe like one or two people who thought
(01:32:30):
it's something else. Completely Yeah, but I'm like, maybe whatever the source
of that blood on the floor wasis also the bloody blanket. Yeah,
but also like not to be likeso gross, but I still feel like
that could still be Like there's alot of blood, but like, is
(01:32:51):
it is it completely like out that, like all this traumatic stuff happens and
Megan literally had a carriage? Yeah, yeah, um yeah, I gotta
I gotta think about that stuff.Um I um, I'm I'm eager to
(01:33:18):
know one will when we'll get Iwonder if, like I wonder if Freeform
is gonna is gonna hold back thescreeners for everybody for the last three episodes.
They might just so no one spoilsanything. Yeah drafts. Yeah,
feeled like, come on, freeForm, you can trust me. Yeah,
(01:33:43):
we might be watching it right alongwith everybody else. Um yeah,
I uh but yeah, I thinkUm, I don't think I still think
Ned is. I still think Nedis a big red herring. Yes,
I think so too. I thinkhe's a lot more harmless than we're being
(01:34:09):
than they want us to think heis. I agree. I think he's
just emotional and grumpy. Yeah, yeah, pretty much. But yeah,
and I think that Brent is.I think Brent is trying to help Megan
(01:34:30):
because he knows that Megan had nothingto do with Luke's death. Yeah,
because I think he feels I thinkhe feels guilty. Yeah, could be.
I think he has, like ita lot, very large role to
play in Luke's death. And Ithink also his goal is to keep his
(01:34:51):
dad focused on because Okay, he'sall the scenes he's in, right,
he's in scenes with Megan where he'sshowing support for Eggin we know Isabella believes
that someone planted her bag full ofmoney there. I still believe that is
Brent. I feel like Brent is. I think he is letting his dad
(01:35:15):
go down the rabbit hole of chasingNed because that's convenient and leads him away
from himself. And then also he'she's making it look like Isabella is going
to be implicated as well, becauseMegan he likes, he doesn't want anything,
you know, doesn't want her topay for it. But also it's
(01:35:39):
like that is helping the storyline thathe is setting up with his dad.
I think, Okay, this ishere's what I'm going with. This is
my number one theory Luke. Okay, trigger warning, I'm I'm I'm bringing
(01:36:00):
up the the S word again.I think I think Luke wanted to check
out Ned. Ned stumbled across him, saw what he was doing, tried
(01:36:30):
to talk to him. Brent kindof walked in on the situation, thought
that Ned was trying to harm him. Either Brent had gone or Ned had
(01:36:59):
gone and or Luke had a gun. There was a gun involved. M
Brent thought that Ned was trying tohurt Luke and tried to interfere, and
(01:37:28):
Luke ended up getting shot, fallsin the water, ends up like his
pants get caught or something. Andthen and that's the reason he doesn't come
up. They can't rescue him.Um he has muscle relaxings in his body.
Maybe um. And so basically becauseI don't know, like Brent just
(01:37:54):
had this weird look on his facewhen they were talking about Ned and when
they went to that's house, andit almost looked like like he didn't look
like he had any contempt for Ned. Then it looked like he almost kind
of looked like a kicked puppy dogaround ned Um, almost like he had
(01:38:19):
almost like I don't know, Imean so I so, I feel like
I feel like all the guilt isgoing to point back to Brent here.
Yeah, um, like it wasentirely Brent's fault, but it's it's not
(01:38:42):
but it's still not going to bea murder situation. But I think it's
going to be entirely Brent's fault.Yeah, yeah, I think so.
Yeah, Um, yeah, we'llsee, we'll see what happens. But
yeah, because I just I don'tknow, I've got a weird vibe with
him and with him in in NedI don't I, I don't know.
Yeah. Also, I feel like, let's say they had the gun.
(01:39:04):
Maybe they're in the cabin. Maybethe blood is Luke's blood from being shot
in the cabin maybe which but alsothat I feel like there'd be like some
kind of bullet hole in the cabin, which maybe they'll find, maybe they
won't. Also, I feel likeanother a few key elements I feel like
(01:39:27):
that will come into play to solidifylike whatever happened are gonna be Jeff's cam
Corp I think it's all cameras. It's gonna be cameras and surveillance. I
think it's gonna be Jeff's camera.I think it's gonna be Ned's camera,
because Megan in two thousand's timelines seemedreally keen on how long have you had
(01:39:48):
those cameras? Oh, since theday I moved in, which was very
funny. And then also remember wetalked about that one shot, but the
way it was filmed in the Chambershouse when Isabella, Megan, and Debbie
were staying there that we talked about, it looked kind of like surveillancy.
(01:40:10):
It looked like it was in aperspective of something watching them. So perhaps
there are cameras all over the Chamberscabin and we just haven't learned about them
yet. Yeah, and maybe Nedis going to hack into those. Yeah.
Yeah, I'm excited about that.I like, I am so excited.
(01:40:32):
Ned might be my favorite character nowjust because I'm so excited to like,
Yeah, I think he's a giantRed Harry, And I feel like
they've really been playing up Brent asbeing like this nice sympathetic guy to Megan,
which can still be true. ButI don't think that completely exonerates him,
you know. Yeah, yeah,Now I think he's just yeah,
(01:40:55):
I think he's Um, I thinkhe's protecting Megan because he just he like,
he's an absolute douchebag and and heis kind of a monster. But
he can't, like, at thesame time, he can't bring himself to
(01:41:15):
like let her take the blame forsomething that he did. Yeah, agreed,
even if it's not even if hedidn't do it deliberately. He knows
he grew up with her, right, he can't. He grew up with
her. He's somebody Luke like Lukecared about. He can't do that to
her when yes, so yeah,um, but yeah, I totally think
(01:41:40):
he would let his villagers take theblame for it. Unfortunately. Yeah,
I do, I I really do. Yeah. Um all right, well
yeah that was a great up soprobably my favorite of the season so far.
Um So, I'm excited. Weonly have three episodes left, I
know, and lots of unanswered questions. I'm like, they better, they
(01:42:06):
better get me I need to.I completely forgot about um, you know,
like Jeff's camera equipment. I'm like, they better tell me what happened
there. I know, I knowthey will. I'm sure they will.
Um, I want to know, like what that The one thing I don't
know that the lover tell us iswhat the what the hell's up with Debbie?
(01:42:28):
Like, yeah, are we goingto find that out? Like I
literally need to speak to someone aboutthat. I fel like I need to
know. I just I'll take anyoneif anyone can tell me what happened there.
Um. Yeah, if that polarBear costume is not brought in to
(01:42:50):
a critical point, I really wantto know why that insert was added,
Like I'm I please ease free form. Anyone listening to this. If the
polar Bear is not important, whyis it there? Please tell me?
Tell me? Tell me. Yeah, And if they don't follow up on
(01:43:11):
that, at least give us aclip of her calling Steve and like,
sorry, Steve, I can't cometo work, Like calling Steve um as
she's like got her swimsuit on witha beach bag in her hand, yeah,
getting chemo therapy, yeah, orlike I'm sorry I can't come to
(01:43:32):
the beach or I can't come towork. I'm getting I'm sick. Um.
So so we could be like,oh that's her thing. She just
like she fakes being sick a lot. Yeah, to smoke. He's on
the beach with a with a fatduly in her mouth, being like,
yeah, oh my god, yeah, if you're not gonna follow up on
(01:44:01):
it and just be like just atleast give us that, Like she just
she like she's somebody who just likedoesn't show up for shit a lot because
she like she just fakes being sickto get out of shita like show show
We're going to the doctor for likeher yearly physical, and she's asking for
(01:44:23):
a sick note the doctor like, you know, I'm rustic and fine,
I'm not gonna keep doing this foryou, Debby, And you can't want
to work where your boyfriend is yourboss sometimes Okay, Yeah, Like we
see her her doctor calling her, please stop asking my receptionist for copies of
(01:44:44):
my notepaths. Debby cannot write youany more prescriptions for medicinal Marijuanna. Oh
my god. Wait wait, shewasn't even in this episode. I just
realized that, whoa, that's whatI mean. I'm like, I don't
(01:45:04):
I feel like it was Debbie havingthe flu? Was that just like,
oh maybe she was our actress wasoff filming something. Yeah, she might
have been and they're just like,we're like sick. I don't know,
but I like, come on,where what happened? Where? Oh man
(01:45:25):
bear in her closet and just madeher ungodly ill? Oh god, I
don't want to know what was inthat beer, especially if it was Tim's.
Like she was like, what's this? Yeah? Oh god? And
then she saw the word Then shesaw the name Tim scribbled on the cup
and she was like, oh no, oh, I don't know what's in
(01:45:49):
this. Yeah, you're calling ita hurricane. It's a monsoon, but
maybe it's also something else. Ohlord. Um, you know, I
think I feel like when we whenthis season is over, we need to
(01:46:11):
have like, am we need tohave like a a Luke's eighteenth birthday party?
Oh my god, that'd be sofun. Yes? Is that too?
Is that too? Awful? Andmorbid? That's pretty funny, especially
after this episode, Like yeah, yeah, we can have a Luke birthday
(01:46:35):
party. Um, all right, guys, well we will. We will
see you next week. We onlyhave three episodes left and then we are
going to so okay, Um,I have kind of a big announcement here.
(01:46:59):
Um. I have asked Pamela tojoin me full time as my Antler
Queen's coast So mena where me notthe their Yes. Um so if you
are a fan of my Yellow Jacketscontent, um, you'll be happy to
know that she will be joining mefor the Antler Queens for all my yellow
(01:47:24):
Jackets content, Um, all myyellow Jackets content going forward. Um,
so we are. We've got threeepisodes left after this one for Curl Summer
Camp season two. Um, thenwe're gonna need to do a do a
real like deep dive into the YellowJackets season finale. Yeah, since I
(01:47:48):
haven't done that, and then weget to then we get to go into
Curl Summer Season one, which isgonna be a lot of home wait to
unleash my rate ass. But we'relike, I'm so excited. We're We've
got lots of stuff coming up.Um. I want to make sure that
(01:48:11):
we're doing regular lives regardless of whatshows are being covered, because that's like,
that's just the best way to connectwith people. Um. It's it's
interesting because content creators like all havedifferent experiences and I get a lot of
a lot of hate pretty much ona daily basis, But it's it's all
in the dms, and like myYouTube experience has been pretty much overwhelmingly positive.
(01:48:40):
I mean, you guys are allgreat and UM, like, I
just I just want to engage withyou all as much as possible. And
I realized I apologize. I've gota lot of people, um, you
know, listening to this on thepodcast, and I don't want you to
feel left out. I really appreciateyou guys as well. Um but uh
but yeah, I definitely plan toyou know, do a lot more lives,
(01:49:02):
um, regardless of what shows arebeing covered, whether they're shows that
are active or not active or nolonger on the on the air. Um,
but yeah, lots of stuff comingup. Um. Obviously there's only
one of me, um so andthere's three of me, yes, me,
(01:49:27):
the bear that drinks for logo andthe other bear that drinks just beer,
yes exactly. UM but yeah,so like if if there is if
you're interested in maybe being a cohost and um or a host, and
you have a show that you wantto cover that you think would be a
(01:49:48):
great fit into our rotation, umthat I don't have time to cover,
that I maybe don't watch myself.Um you know, let me know if
that's something that you would be interestedin. I may be looking for,
you know, for additional hosts,um, because you know we're definitely expanding,
so um, I would uh,I'd love to bring on some some
(01:50:14):
new team members. Um. It'sit's an exciting time right now. But
uh yeah, I um, I'mjust uh, Pamela, I'm just so
happy to have brought you on,and I'm happy to me on tea so
(01:50:40):
much fun. I always had sucha great time with you, Like,
I'm just so happy, Like thisbear costume is just the best thing ever.
