(00:03):
Victim or villain, Jeanette continues toadd fuel to the fire as her reckless
behavior causes her friends and family toquestion her even more. You're with Cruel
Summer Camp. Hi everyone, what'sup? Thanks for listening to or watching

(00:41):
Cruel Summer Camp. So excited todive into this episode. One of my
one of my personal favorites. Yeah, this is one of my favorites too.
I really liked this one a lot. Other than Greg, Greg pitched
me off the steps. Yeah,Greg is pretty annoying. Other than and
threatening Jamie, which I I dosupport showing up to Jamie's door to just

(01:07):
like give him a shakedown. Idon't know. I think he could have
done it a little better. Itcould have been a little more violent.
I've been a little warm, youknow. Interesting. It's like it could
have gone both ways. One,It's like he could have went through Jamie's

(01:29):
parents and been like, hey,do you know what your son did to
my daughter? You know, which, like with the appropriate route, he
kind of went like lukewarm, youknow where It's like, yeah, I
did just show up to your doorand talk to your child. But I
also feel like he could have justDerek could have like punched him in the

(01:49):
face, you know what I mean, Like there were a couple opportunities this
episode where I'm like, people justcould have like beat each other up.
I know, he almost did.He almost really almost did. He really
almost did. Yeah. No,Jamie, Jamie's a piece of shit.

(02:09):
Yeah shit, and his his momI don't like have any respect for.
It's like his son is loitering. It's like, no, he's standing on
outside his ex girlfriend's house with agun. Yeah, I don't think that's
loitering, you know, yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah, his ex

(02:34):
his ex girlfriend who insists that likeshe's innocent, and I mean, you
know from from I don't want to, like, I don't want to spoil
anything for like people who are watchingalong with us and haven't seen the show
yet, but because I know thereare some but you know, it's Janette.

(03:00):
Jeanette is an asshole, but shethere is some there is validity to
her argument, and she should betaken She should be taken seriously when she
says that, like, you know, she's Kate's lying and she didn't see

(03:21):
her Yeah, innocent until proven guilty, you know. Yeah, you don't
get to just run off the rumormill. It's just so interesting. It's
also just frustrating when the police arelike Jeanette, like why would Kate lie?
It's like, I don't know, aren't you the police like people miss

(03:42):
There's all kinds of psychological studies aboutpeople like misremembering things and like not seeing
things correctly under stress and like don'tdon't y'all know that? Yeah? Yeah
exactly. It's Yeah, it's crazy. I mean, hell, like who
knows if he had drugged, ifhe was drugging or something, you know,

(04:04):
And yeah, she could have beendrugged and like not really realized it.
She was in like complete isolation fora year. That does something to
your brain, you know. Yeah. Yeah, definitely so frustrating. I've
writing Kelly, Yeah, let's doit really really quick though. Fun fact

(04:24):
that I learned today the the womanin the it's funny because I kept calling
it, I kept calling it abar, but it's really like a house
that yeah, gay gay house party, Yeah yeah exactly. It's like,
yeah, it reminded me of theparty houses like around my college. Yeah.

(04:47):
It's the woman there who the blackwoman who seemed to be like the
one managing it. She her characteractually has a name and it's Minna.
Oh okay, is is that actorlike anyone we would know? Because I
felt like that's like a special likecameo kind of bit, you know,

(05:11):
I don't think so, but yeah, I'll look it up later though,
and and and see if maybe that'sthe case. That does kind of seem
like like a like a spot forlike a a prominent cameo, you know,
yeah, that's you know, butwith Cruel Summer, you never know.
Yeah, by the my polar Beartheories. So yeah, by the

(05:42):
way, my nickname is comes fromthe magazine that Jeanette stole from Derek,
which was called Velvet Vixens. AndI paused the episode and there was a
woman on the cover and it saidher name was Latex Wee and that is

(06:03):
her real name. Yeah, that'sreally a good name. Yeah, she
lives next door to me. Justyour neighbor, Yeah, blue Bay,
that's what her male pops says.Actually, yeah, exactly. So we

(06:26):
opened on the ninety three timeline.Jeanette is taking a quiz in the magazine
what kind of girlfriend are you?I love taking all those those quizzes our
team. Really, I was justlike looking at the like little details of
the magazines, you know, likeanything that appears on screen, like that

(06:47):
the art team makes. They aren'tjust like you know, taking a Cosmopolitan
uh, you know, or liketeam Vogue uh and like stealing the art
both. So someone made that andthere were like just little hearts all over
the page, like little characters andstuff like that Cruel Summer Loves Loves Themselves

(07:10):
a quiz in a magazine moment,Yeah, yeah, definitely yeah, And
I rolled it back for so muchJeanette's answers, which I thought were so
like cute. I when I wasin middle school and high school, I
loved well. I was on mySpace and I would do h surveys like

(07:38):
I wouldn't survey other people. Iwould fill out the surveys and then you
could post them. But it's likeI didn't really care if anyone read them.
I just liked doing them. Yeah, And I literally would like save
other people's surveys on like a documenton my computer and like do them.
And then later on I would goon like websites where you could do like

(08:00):
multiple choice like quiz things and you'dget like, oh, like your personality
is this or like you know, all kinds and stuff like that. I
love. I love a quiz thatteaches you see, this is how like
the whole that I am. What'sthe intelligence quick? It's Myers Briggs right,

(08:22):
Oh oh yeah, yeah yeah theb T I yes, yeah,
it's literally for people who like doingquick QUIZZNASA astrologies, for the people that
are like, I don't want tobe quizzed. Just tell me who I
am. Okay, So Jeanette answers, you'd rather kiss than hug? She

(08:46):
says, no, she'd rather hug, I guess or equal people to her
interesting and it's so funny like heranswering this having like no experience with like
anyone, you know, hypothetical ata party, you stay in the background.
Yes I'm beautiful. Yeah, it'slike, okay, you'd rather take

(09:09):
a hike than watch TV L OL what a selection? She wrote,
No, of course, and youknow Cindy comes up. She like takes
off for a little nineties round glassesand it's like, you know, cleaning
them, and Cindy's like, oh, like, I love seeing your beautiful
face. What about contact lenses? And she's like, mom, you know

(09:33):
I can't touch my eyeballs it's verycute. I she's so very lucky.
There's this Okay, I a littleoff topic here, but I watch there's
only two shows on Bravo that Iwatch anymore, and well, I guess

(09:54):
it's like, I guess it's morethan two if you count all the iterations.
But I watched Vanderpump Rules, andI watch all of the blow decks
and the blowdeck that's on right now, it's the Australian one, and it's
so funny because the captain who's who'ssuper hot. By the way, the
captain like can't put his own contactsin. He must have a problem touching

(10:18):
his eye, so the Chief Steellike puts his contacts in. Form I
feel like it would be worse ifI had someone else touching my eye.
Yeah, yeah, I think Ilike that even less. Luckily I haven't.
I've never had to wear contacts oranything, so I've never bridge.

(10:41):
Yeah, very funny. Also,I'm like, Okay, while we're on
vander Pump Rules, I'm like somany people I know watch that show and
like cover it. And I know, Kelly, I don't know if you've
thought about covering it if you're alistener and you think we should cover Vanderpump
Rules or Bravo content, Just like, let me know if you think I

(11:03):
should start watching things on Bravo,Like, just let me know. I
do. I have like a millionother things to watch. Yes, Would
I stop watching Prestige TV to watchBelow Deck? Yes? So just like
tell me what to do. Okay, And we are going to have to
at some point, whether it's forthe Patreon or or just on the regular

(11:28):
channel, we are going to haveto cover Game of Crowns. It's one
season and it's it's the most funtrain wreck that you'll ever watched. I
really can't wait. But yeah,if you want us to cover Bravo stuff,
if you're watching it too, pleaselet me know. Would love to
hear from you guys. Anyway, back to this show. This podcast is

(11:52):
about so Mallory is like stoked. She comes over with the nastiest bag of
pot I think I've ever seen. The joints are rolled. They're definitely hand
rolled by someone terribly like they're notthat's not a good that's not a good

(12:13):
joint. There's like a handful ofthem, and then there's also some like
loose, really like ground up,like brownish pot. It's like, well,
what happened to that? And alsowhy is it loose with the joints?
That's like very weird. But likeI don't know, you know the

(12:33):
mom Mom's tampon box like hide away. I guess she just shoves all the
wheat in there, all the weedproducts, the edibles are with the ground
flower. When you take a gummy, it has a little extra in hair.
So she's really excited. She hgot you know, stealing contraband done

(12:56):
off the list, and now she'slike great, and we're gonna smoke pot.
And Jeanette and Vince look so perturbedby this idea. I feel like
that's like fair enough, like kindof common. I don't know we had
we had someone in our after showsay they're a teacher and fourth graders are

(13:16):
like vaping in class now, somaybe not. Maybe fifteen year olds aren't.
Like I don't know if i'mone,was mo B that's a Pamela special.
But you know I made my nicknameflush Flush the Well, we'll get
to it. I just really Ilike resonated with this scene. I think

(13:37):
it's very funny. I feel likeit captures that age very well, like
with their reactions. So u youknow, everyone had to get contraband Vince
got Cooking Sherry so funny due Sherrylike, and Jeanette got a dirty magazine

(14:01):
like like Latex Loopy Kelly Kelly's neighbor. Yeah, yeah, so like what
a what an array of products? You know? Oh my gosh, what
would you bring Pamela at fifteen orlike right now at fifteen? Well on

(14:31):
it. I'm trying to think,Like I'm like, what would I have
had access to? Definitely not hot, Yeah, I'd have to like you
see, Okay, So I wentto a school of the arts, and
I feel like I was a goodytwo shoes, so I wasn't in the
loop of people doing bad stuff. But then occasionally they'd be like, Pamela,

(14:52):
like that guy is like we callthem druggies back in the day.
They'd be like that guy's a hugedruggie And I was like what, So
I probably could have gotten my handson. And also, you know South
Florida, there's all kind of there'ssome cocaine going on, but I don't
see. I don't know that.Anyway, they'd be like she's a nark.

(15:18):
They wouldn't feel it to me,I feel like the best I could
I could probably get a dirty magazine. Yeah, Like I think I could
probably find a dirty magazine like layingaround somewhere or like, I think that's
the best I could do, maybelike some weapons. But like I don't

(15:39):
know what what counts as contraband youknow, yeah, I don't. I
don't really know. I mean Iprobably would have would have stolen something from
the liquor cabinet. Cabinet my parents, Like my parents had this, Like
they had this full, fully stackedliquor cab in it and I swear to

(16:00):
and they, I swear to God, they like they only drank it during
holidays. They like they never touchedthis. It wasn't locked. No,
no, wow, that's real, trust I. My parents were never My
mom doesn't drink at all, andmy dad like occasionally has a beer r

(16:22):
like sometimes, So we never haddefinitely not hard liquor if anything. Honestly,
I feel like of liquor, it'slike my dad would get like gifted
a bottle of wine. We'd belike, what are we gonna do with
this? And it just sit andsit and sit. So I could probably
get that. But honestly, Iprobably get dirty magazines easier I could get

(16:48):
like an old playboy. That's video. See I'm in I'm in the Janette
hole. That's why. That's whyI get she she's my girl. That's
when my hair is curled today.Or I tried, I had my best
to do nineties. I get it. Man. So Mallari says her uncle

(17:11):
took her to a whole concert andshe got contact high and it was great,
which is just like so funny tome that she's like bragging about this.
It's like, I'm sure she was, like, yeah, basically high,
if at all. I don't reallyknow if contact high, like truly

(17:32):
is a real thing or not.But that's cool. She got to see
whole I've never gotten a contact high. But this is so bad, Like
I'm gonna have my I'm gonna havea Colleen Valanchier moment. Here. Yeah,
nobody, nobody contact like the aspcaon me here. Okay. Oh,

(17:56):
it was an accident. We weremy husband and I were My husband
and I were getting stoned at homeand we had this door. This wasn't
an apartment that we used to livein several years ago, and we had
a door that separated the living roomfrom the rest of the apartment, and

(18:19):
we always closed it so that likeso that our dog wouldn't come out,
right, And I guess we didn't. We thought we closed it all the
way, but we didn't, andhe had snuck in at some point and
he totally got the munchies. Ohmy gosh, I was stoned just from

(18:45):
seeing it. Yeah, because youhave big dogs too, So I mean,
I'm that's wild. Yeah. Yeah, he got like he got a
little paranoid, and I know,I felt so bad and he and he
totally got the munchies. It's sofunny. I was gonna say the only

(19:07):
time I came close to get contacth. So I'm gonna speak very vaguely.
I once had a job on athing where I was in like a
giant hall way of dressing rooms withlike talent and the talent we'll just smoke

(19:32):
weed wherever they want. Yeah, you know, also like any state if
you get my drift, like yeah, you know. So anyway, so
it was like a brutal day ofwork for me and the talent. And
I mean the talent I'm talking aboutlike there was a dozen dressing rooms and

(19:56):
I mean they were partying, likeEntourage is fully in there. People are
like getting hammered, like absolutely hammered. And it was just like this long
hallway of like the crew and peoplebeing like in work mode, myself included,
and then like talent and entourage justgetting absolutely cross faded the whole hallway

(20:22):
of marijuana. And I was inthere for I was in this like windowless
hallway of pot filled dressing rooms forlike six hours. That was the only
But it was like it was sucha long it was such a long work
day that it's like, am Ia little bit higher? Am I just
exhausted of like feet, like youknow, doing my job for like this

(20:48):
long and being stressed out? Likewho knows? But I was like it's
like they kept like inviting people, not like random people, but like their
friends into the dressing rooms. They'dbe like, come on, take a
shot. And I was just like, please, somebody like invite me to
hang out, Like please, somebodysomebody, No, no one wants to

(21:08):
hang out with me, and noone wants They're busy, but yeah no.
So it's like I was just likethe vibe was just so wild of
like people being like extremely stressed outand working their asses off, versus people
being like I'm party and I'm absolutelybaked, and like all of us just

(21:33):
like inhaling like a massive cloud, like a giant whole way, no no
windows or anything, so it's likejust completely unventilated pot pot air. It
was that was a wild time.So that's that'd be a time like a
contactie. Jeanette refuses to smoke weed. She says it feels her an Vince

(21:57):
say it feels wrong, very funnyand cute, and Mallory's like really upset
about this. I think she wasreally looking forward to smoking lead. She's
definitely a pothead if I've ever seenone. She she's looking to become a

(22:18):
pothead. Them not so much so. Greg Knox on the door. Mallory's
mom is on the phone and wantsher to come home. Mallory disappears for
like quite a bit of time. It's kind of weird. Vince and Jeanette
kind of talk about like what theyshould do with the pot and I love

(22:42):
this because it's just so innocent. They consider burying it in the yard,
but Jeanette is worried it'll take rootand pot plants will start growing. Oh
my god, not the imagine ifin ninth ninety four all the stuff continues
and they're like, and you know, the Turners have a whole thing of

(23:06):
we growing in their friend yard. You've got a pot farm, a pot
farm in their front yard. Theydon't even hide it, and oh my
gosh, chuck me up. Yeah, so you know they basically like Jeanette
wants to take the pot away fromMallory. She says it's for her own

(23:29):
good. And Jeanette is like,I'm gonna flush it down the toilet.
Vince tells her. You know,Malory is gonna be pretty upset when she
finds out. It's like unavoidable. She's gonna find out, and but she
never really thinks this is for Mallorie'sown good. When I was, I
was like that age, I likedid not think my friend, you know,
I mean, it's like I don'tknow. I was like, oh

(23:52):
I thought you lose, well youkind of do. I was like,
oh, my friends are gonna losetheir brain cells. I need every brain
cell I can get. I can'tlose them to smoking marijuana. Oh that's
so funny. UF I was,you know, I was a good,
straight lace, straight edged, littlelittle girl for a long time, so

(24:18):
I get it. Yeah, I'mflushed the I'm team flushed the pot because
that's absolutely something. If my friendsshowed up with pot, I feel like
I would be like a little narcI'd be like, I'm so ashamed of
you. I'm so upset. Youknow that's so funny. That's so funny.

(24:38):
It cracks me up. Yeah. So, uh, Mallory comes back.
They're like playing a game. TheyVincent Jeanette have like completely moved on,
and Mallory's like, hey, Igotta go home. I need the
stash back, you know, mymom needs it, and Jeanette's like,
uh, well, I flushed itdown the toilet. Of course, Mallory's

(25:00):
upset. I mean, here's thething. It's like, it's not like
it was Mallory's pot that she bought. It's not even like it's a brother
or sister's stash and they're gonna beupset. It's her mom's, which is
like really bad because one, yourmom is gonna think you've smoked like four
joints or like, however, that'sa lot of weed. You know,

(25:22):
I'm gonna think that you took allthe pot and used it and also like,
now your mom knows, you knowthat she smokes pot. Yeah see
if it was Malory, I wouldhave just I would have just told my
mom like, yeah, I foundyour stash and I got rid of it

(25:44):
for your own good. Yeah.Yeah, you turn the nark right around
on her. You'd be like, well, what, mom, you really
shouldn't be smoking pot. I'm soashamed of you. Fun So yeah,
so it's funny. So next scenewe see Janette is talking to Cindy about

(26:07):
this another very Pamela that's like absolutelysomething I would do, is some and
be like I gotta talk to mymom about This's just like it's so funny
because I mean, especially like comparedto the other timelines, this episode,
like this is where she's way moreclose to her mother and like telling her
secrets, and I mean, youknow, like her her mom finding out

(26:30):
that Mallory's bringing pot into the housecould like bite her in the ass,
like real, real easy. Butyeah, he's like, well, Janette,
you know you did the right thing, such a good girl, flushing
flushing it down the toilet was theright thing. Maybe not for their pipes,
but whatever. And she suggests thatJeanette branches out and makes some new

(26:55):
friends. You know, she bringsup Kate come clementing her style, and
Cindy talks about how popular she wasin high school and then Joy used to
follow her around like a puppy dogand all the boys were into her.
Yeah, but Cindy says, youknow, if you want to make amends

(27:18):
with Mallory, you should give hera peace offering. And then Janette asked
to skip the fireworks this year, even though she's very excited because she's she's
just not in the mood for fireworks. She's in the mood for breaking an
entry. Yeah. Yeah, Sowhile the fireworks are going on, Janette

(27:42):
goes over to Martin Harris's house again. She finds a yearbook from a different
school he taught at. Nothing reallylike incriminating. She just finds this photo.
You know, I feel like itcould have been an opportunity for something
skathing, but it's not. She'slike, she's like flipping through the pages,

(28:07):
taking her good old time, andthen she runs and she brings the
yearbook to Mallory's house and it's like, hey, I completed list number thirteen.
Steal something. Here's Martin Harris's yearbook, and Mallory is so impressed that
she went back to Martin Harris's houseand she's like, oh, you know,

(28:30):
I wanted to show you like Itake the list really seriously. Which
is this whole exchange? Just Ifeel like was so organic and like the
nineteen ninety three timeline, this episodefelt very like genuinely fifteen years old,
and I think it was just likea great piece of good writing and like

(28:51):
like that, you know, thefight is over and Mallory invites her in
for some pizza bites. Yum.I'm more of a bagel bite bite squirrel
pre my vegan days. I absolutelydespise pizza rolls. I can't stand them.
They gross me out. Oh reallyyea, but how do you feel

(29:14):
about bagel bites? Uh? Notmuch better. They're a little better than
than pizza rolls. But yeah,I will not watch pizza rolls bagel bites.
Like, if I'm hungry and you'rebagel bites in front of me,
then you know I'll have a bagelbite. It's like I could, I

(29:34):
could if you told me, LikePamela, if you have the opportunity to
eat at only Michelin's Star restaurants therest of your life no expense, or
you can have vegan bagel bites andTaco Bell endlessly. I no joke,

(29:55):
Like, I'm so serious, Iwould pick the I love like I love
Taco bellt I love bagel bites.Like mmmm, could he have rever no
good women vegan hot Pockets. It'snot hot Pockets brand, but there are
like vegan essentially, you know,Sa Sa Prome. I was like,

(30:17):
I'm gonna be vegan forever. I'mgood. I don't need anything else.
Yeah, that's awesome. So anyway, yeah, soon then they're hanging out,
and then the final scene of Jeanettein this timeline over a cover of
Fade into You that I actually reallylike, uh is she's looking at herself

(30:38):
in the mirror and she's modeling herlittle joint, not holding it right.
She's like yeah, yeah, she'sgot like a smile on her face.
She's like, you know, Ifeel like this is the first time we
see she's now keeping a secret fromeveryone. So this is like really big

(31:02):
secret. No one in the familyknows about it, not even her friends
know about it. Yeah, andyou know it's uh, by the way,
I just looked up. I wasjust trying to look up who who
did that cover, because I reallylike that too, like just a little
bit that we heard of it.And as I was looking that up,

(31:25):
I came across I actually came uponthe woman Minna. The woman who played
Minna. Her name is Raja O'Hara, and she actually was a contestant on
the eleventh season of Rupulse Drag Race. Oh yeah, I was gonna say
that that makes a lot of sense. I totally see someone like, I

(31:48):
mean that that makes sense that theywould give that bit to her and and
give her those lines that are likethis is a safe space, Like yeah,
yeah, it did seem like Ididn't think about it at first until
you mentioned it, but it didseem like a like a very deliberate,
like focused cameo, you know, like that somebody that people would recognize should

(32:14):
be in So that makes sense. But yeah, I it's yeah, that
cover was really good and if Ican find the name of the band who
covered it, I will definitely reportpack. But yeah. So then so

(32:36):
going into the ninety four timeline,Cindy is Cindy's watching the report on Kate's
case, and uh, you know, the police have confirmed that that Kate
has been interviewed and she's planning toshare her story publicly, and she's she's

(32:58):
freaking out. Cindy's freaking out aboutthis, yeah, and uh, she's
she tells Derek. Derek's like onhis way out, and she's like,
you know, make sure you tellall Like Derek's like people are already talking
anyway, like Hank Stevenson pulled outas something and yeah, he's seen from
parties. Yeah yeah, And she'slike, well, well tell all your

(33:23):
friends that that Jeanett's innocent. Likeshe's just freaking out right now, she's
panicking. And so Dan, Ilove I love that there's always like there's
always like just one or two charactersthat are just constantly mentioned in in a

(33:44):
TV show. I mean, weknow who the Stevenson's are. It's like
Hank and Babs, the guy withthe cowboy hat and his wife, they're
the parents to Tucker. But it'sjust like so it's not like we don't
see them. But it's so funnybecause there's always like you know that one
that that one character or a couplethat's just like they're just back, they're

(34:05):
just in the background. But likeyou hear about them a lot more than
you see that. Yeah. Butyeah, So then Derek finds his dad
and oh wait, I'm sorry,can I can I back it up a
little bit. So Jeanette was layingon the couch listening to Cindy and Derek

(34:29):
have that exchange the whole time, the whole reading. You know, I
feel like a lot of times, cruel Summer loves to pick like a very
dark They love to pick like,oh, everyone's everyone's watching a black and
white horror movie or some like oldmovie that like in no one is watching,

(34:49):
or they're reading like a mystery bookor some like book relevant to the
plot. I thought it was funnybecause the book she's reading is wisdom inside
my fifteen year old mind. Butyou know what I absolutely think that was
supposed to be is chicken noodle Soupfor the Soul. Oh my gosh,
that is like an absolute time capsuleof a book I do not know.

(35:15):
And there were like a million differentspecific versions of it. So I was
like, it should have been chickennoodle soup for the fifteen year old soul,
because I guarantee you if they madea book, if not like for
the teenage soul, like even morespecifically, like for the teen for the
teenage girl who suddenly became popular soul, you know what I mean, Like

(35:37):
those those who were everywhere in thenineties, thousands, and then I don't
know what happened. It's like thatI don't even see them anymore. Like
yeah, yeah, I think Ithink I remember somebody getting me like a
dog lovers one or something, yes, as a gift. I don't know

(36:00):
if I actually ever read it.I don't know. I know I used
to read a lot of readers digestmagazines for some reasons. I used to
read those Chicken Newds. I mean, they're basically just stories. They're not
like anything crazy or like earth shattering. But I've definitely I've read some of
those books. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but uh yeah, So Derek.

(36:23):
Derek tells Greg that he thinks Jamiehit Jannette and Greg. It's so
funny because Greg is just like hehas kind of a delayed response, which
is like, yeah, I meanit's I should have written down exactly what
he said to Derek, but Ididn't, do you recall, like what

(36:49):
his exact response was, because helike, well, at first, you
know, because Derek comes up andhe's talking about the rumors and that kind
of like shlups it all off andit's like, oh, like it's just
people talking, there's no real likeyeah, okay, and then he's like,
okay, well, like Jeanette didn'tget in a volleyball accident. I

(37:13):
you know, that's from Jamie.And I feel like he's in a little
bit of denial. I don't rememberexactly what was said, but it's a
little bit like denial. Yeah, yeah, that makes sense. But yeah,
So they end up going over toJamie's house together, yeah, in
front of him. His mom opensthe door and Jamie comes. Jamie comes

(37:37):
to the door, and Derek isjust Derek is super aggro and it's like
it's like, did you hit mysister? And yeah, I mean rightfully,
so you know, yeah, ohyeah definitely. And they you know,
Jamie's mom it's just like has noidea what the fuck is going on?

(37:58):
And she's like, all right, you need to get out of here,
and yeah, not a clue what'sgoing on. Doesn't ask either,
Yeah, and as they're leaving.As they're leaving, Jamie's like, Janett's
not who you think she is.And Derek was just like ready to go
again. I mean Greg had to. I think we should have just punched

(38:19):
it out. Yeah, writing Jamie'sbeat it out of each other. Yeah,
but Greig Greig threatens him. He'slike, you ever lay your hands
on her again, We're gonna youand I are gonna have a big problem.

(38:39):
But yeah. So then so rightafter that, we see Jeanette visited
by Officer William and uh and thisdetective. They want to speak to her,
and they want to ask some questionsabout Kate and like she Jeanette's like,

(39:07):
yeah, anything to help, andGreg's like, yeah, let me
let me go get my wife, and you know, like indicating they're coming
with and and the detectives like you'llbe joining us. It's like you're questioning
my underage daughter. You're damn right, I'm yeah. Why would I mean,

(39:28):
could they even do that? Likeis that even legal to Probably not?
Yeah, I mean I mean yeah, I can't. I man,
I cannot imagine them like just takingJanette by yourself. No nightmare. I
mean I think we do kind ofsee that happen in the season two of
Cruel Summer, but yeah, saidwe did it. So they they all

(39:57):
get there, and Cindy's Cindy's justbeing kind of carrying out. Yeah,
she tells the detectives tell Cindy they'renot charging her, holding her, they're
just questioning her. Cindy said,it smells like like blood, And she
said, this looks like the roomwhere you chop people's fingers off. Yeah,

(40:19):
it smells like blood and sweat andurine. Girl, what like,
No, it doesn't. This though, totally seem like grown up Jeanette.
What do you mean, Like,I mean, just Jeanette's reactions to things
in like, especially particularly in theninety three timeline, like like she's like

(40:44):
she's freaking out about the pot andeverything, and and it's the way Cindy
reacted to, like to the policestation just totally reminded me of of a
grown up Janette. That's interesting.I didn't necessarily see that. I feel
like I see Cindias being a littlebit more like prissy and class conscious.

(41:07):
Yeah, Jeanette is, and that'skind of like not like per se,
I don't think this is like aclass conscious like type thing. But totally
with the police station. But that'sjust in general how I feel like I
see her but I mean, Ido think there are a lot of parallels

(41:28):
that the show is drawing between, like the parents becoming the daughters, and
it's definitely a recurrent theme that's there. Yeah, oh yeah for sure.
But yeah it's Jeanette doesn't seem tooworried about anything. No, she's she's
pretty calm. Yeah. Yeah. The detective show of Janette the necklace and

(41:57):
asks how Kate ended up with it, Yeah, the you Go girl necklace.
Janette tells him she threw hers awayand that it's it's probably one of
the Jillian others that came from likethe kiot, the mal Kiosk or whatever.
But you know, she likes fairenough, you know what I mean.

(42:17):
Yeah, yeah, that's that's verybelievable. And yeah, they asked
why she thinks Kate would lie aboutsomething so serious, and she tells her
like she thinks it's probably because she'sdating Jamie, and they, you know,

(42:37):
they asked if the fight was aboutKate, and Janette just kind of
like gets a little flustered and theyad up leaving. This is where it's
like when the police are like whywould Kate lie, It's like, well,
come on, like I said, earlier. Shouldn't they know, like
how she might be misremembering something likeet cetera. You know, like all

(43:02):
of the circumstances that could have interferedwith what she's saying versus what reality is.
But also like I really do feellike Jeanette, like if she was
more outspoken, she really could likevocally make the argument being like, hey,
you're you're just mad that I haveyour boyfriend now and you're like making

(43:27):
stuff up because you're jealous of meand you're upset, but like it's not
correct, Like I really do thinkshe could like publicly outcry that. I
also think that when she saw Kateand Kate gets out of the car,
like they could have just again, they could have fought. Yeah, yes,

(43:50):
who do you think would end upwinning that fight? I think that's
a good question. I do feellike Jeanette is better at fighting. I
think Jeanette would fight. See,I feel like Kate would probably win.
I don't know, like Jeanette,I don't know, maybe because like Jeanette

(44:12):
is just so like I don't know, she just like I don't know.
I haven't really paid much attention toto her standing next to the others,
but she looked very petite, Like, I mean that Kate's really small too.
They're they're both probably like five threehonestly. Yeah. Yeah, PROBA

(44:34):
actors in general, if you seean actor and you're like, I think
they might be short, it's like, oh, yeah they are. Yeah
yeah, but yeah, so wewe Then we then see the Turners back

(44:55):
at home and Cindy's arguing with Gregand she's like, that necklace is obviously
Jeanette's and she just lied to thepolice, Like I don't understand why,
Like, I don't know that it'sI think that's a very believable explanation that,
Yeah, I don't know, likewhy Cindy would just be insisting that

(45:20):
Jeanette is lying. It doesn't makesense to me. Yeah, That's that
has always bothered me, no matterhow many times I've seen this episode.
I do kind of want to writeit off to Cindy kind of having like
a sixth sense and being able totell when her daughter's lying. But like,

(45:40):
Janette's reasoning is very sensible. Also, she she knows that she had
a falling out with Mallory, youknow, she knows Cindy knows that Jeanette
and Mallory are no longer friends,so it would make sense that she threw
out the necklace that that friend gaveto her. So like everything she says,

(46:02):
like logically makes sense. I wantto say it's intuition, but it
always has bothered me because I reallyfeel like this is the beginning of Cindy's
trust in Jeanette, like completely deteriorating, and it's just like a little sad
and not necessarily fair. Yeah, yeah, definitely. So yeah, So

(46:30):
she like she's she's definitely distrusting herat this point. She's like, you
know, she's wondering what what elseshe could possibly be lying about. You
know. Greg's like just people arejust bored with their lives and spreading rumors,
and Jeanette is Janett's already for thefireworks, and and Greg sets her

(46:55):
down and tells her that he wentto Jamie's house and she uh like,
he tells her that he knows thathe hit her, and she like,
she still she she tried insisting againthat it was a volleyball accident, but

(47:17):
but yeah, He's like, youknow, you're young and things are really
confusing for you still, but it'snever okay for anyone to layer their hands
on you like that. Yeah, and which I really like, I really
liked, like it was very hewas talking to her like a like a

(47:38):
teenager on a respectful level, youknow, Yeah, for sure, And
I feel like sometimes you have tobe told that. Yeah, yeah,
and it's it's true, Like it'strue she kids, kids are willing to
kids are more likely to like youcan. He used about what's okay and

(48:00):
what's not okay, and yeah,it's like, you know, he had
to explain that to her, like, look, I you know, you're
still young, you're still figuring thingsout, like this is not okay,
this is not normal. And uhso I thought I thought that was a
really you know, in a inan episode full of shitty grag moments.

(48:22):
He had a good moment here. But yeah, he tells her he doesn't
want Jamie, he doesn't want heranywhere Jamie or Jamie. Yeah, but
he's not going to tell He's notgoing to tell Cindy because like she'll end
up shooting a room and candle atthat. It's so funny. Also,

(48:44):
like you know, I mean that'snot good for their marriage either. They're
like keeping secrets from one another.Yeah, yeah, definitely. But so
then we're in we we see Vinceat the video store not block them,
but like, you know, Ithink it's called rent Tonight, right right

(49:05):
right. I noticed a poster forjoy Luck Club. I didn't notice anything
else, but he's, uh,someone comes in and you know, he
tells them that they're going to beclosing early. Well, first Mallory comes
in actually, and she's looking fora bad movie. But then uh,

(49:31):
then like he hears somebody come inand says like they're gonna be closing soon,
and she says, I'll be quick, and he sees that it's Kate,
and so she picks out a fewmovies. And the movies that she
picks out Our Misery, Silence ofthe Lambs, and Groundhog Day for her

(49:52):
dad. But I liked that he. I liked that Vince held it together
though like he didn't because he hadhe had some things to say about it
after she left that you know,he thought it was weird or creepy or
whatever. But he totally held ittogether while she was in the store,

(50:13):
which I appreciate. Yeah, therewas a lot of like weird tension when
she comes in the store, youknow what I mean. It's very uncomfortable
between the three of them. Butyou know, we talked about this on
the after party. I I don'tthink it's that weird that she is looking
to like find comfort and the onlything she can find of anyone who can

(50:37):
potentially relate to her. You know, it's like it's all fiction, you
know. So I don't think it'sthat weird. I get why she would
be watching something like that. Iwrote my notes, don't judge Vince,
don't Yeah, yeah, but Imean I was glad that he didn't,

(50:58):
like, he didn't make any weirdfaces or whatever while she was there,
you know, I so I appreciatedthat. But you know, after she
leaves, he's like he's saying thatit's he thinks it's creepy, but Malory
is actually Mallory who is constantly fashion. Kate actually sticks up for her,
and she's like, you know,it might be comforting to her, something

(51:20):
about facing the monsters or yeah, and he's like he kind of gives her,
like kind of gives her a look, and she's like, what she
went through something really really awful. And she's like, I'm not heartless,
and and he's like, yeah, but you are but you are you?

(51:44):
Yeah, fair response, very fairresponse. Yeah. So she asks him
if he wants to come over, and he says he has plans and she
she just says like she hopes thatit's not with Janette, and he just
response, don't worry about it.Yeah, And we then see him leaving

(52:08):
work and getting into a van whichBen is in and he's like, does
your friend know like where we're goingand what we're going to do there and
and he says no. Yeah.I really wanted to make a Red Harry
over them slow dancing in nineteen ninetyfour as seedy as possible, you know,

(52:34):
yeah, I thought it was.I thought it was cute though,
because I was like, what arethey doing? I'm like, oh no,
what what's going on here? Andit just turns out to be adorable.
But yeah, so then we seebut before we get back to that,
we see Janette and Gray. Iget the Fourth of July bash.

(52:55):
She sees Jamie and like she's actuallysmiling at him, but he's just kind
of like trying to pretend she's notthere. It's so like it's so cringy.
Yeah, it's so hard to watchbecause like also just like another thing

(53:19):
I find very relatable. Is likethis guy has just been awful to her,
but she just wants him back, like unconditionally, you know, and
like for him to just like ignoreher like that. I Mean, the
dad is like right there watching,so it's like, yeah, he's going
to ignore her. But it's likeit's just so it's so hard to watch.

(53:39):
But I think they did such agood job of like showing that moment.
Yeah. Yeah, definitely, everyone'slike kind of staring at them.
Yeah, it's it's a little intimidating, and Cindy is definitely noticing it.

(54:01):
Yeah. We uh, you know, we see Vince and Ben in the
car going to do whatever they're doing, and they start talking about Jannette and
Ben asks if you know, ifhe thinks if you really thinks Jenett's innocent,
and he's like, I don't haveto lie for her because I believe

(54:22):
her. So Ben's like, well, if you believe her, then then
I do too. Yeah, andthey pull into the driveway at this house
and you know, it's it's like, Okay, what what are they doing?
Whose house is this? What kindof weird? What are they up
to? And Vince's like, Ican't believe we're doing this, And Ben

(54:43):
said that that forum said that thiswas the place. I'm like, are
they gonna do drugs? Like, what are they getting drugs? What the
fuck? Yeah? Really like they'regetting drugs or something. Yeah. And
they walk in and it's basically aparty house. Yeah, and Fade into

(55:04):
You is playing and there's a bunchof same sex couples dancing and they hold
hands. It's just the sweetest thingever. Yeah, it's a really sweet
moment. Yeah. Yeah, it'slike you like this whole time, you're
thinking, are like, what kindof shady shit are they into? Like
you to think that they're doing somethingshady as long as possible. Yeah,

(55:29):
And then no, they're just they'rejust going off to be boyfriends together.
He literally just want to dance together. Yeah. Yeah, it was so
cute. It was so adorable.Yeah. And uh and and Minna,
the who we were talking about Earliersis standing with with a friend or co

(55:52):
worker whoever, and the other woman'slike, you know, those kids are
underage. You want me to Andshe's like, now, this is a
safe space for us, for them. There's not too many of those.
Let him dance. I just won'tserve them, which I thought was really
sweet. I thought that was cute. I just I loved everything about this
whole scene. It was adorable.I did not like the line I don't

(56:15):
know what to say without sounding likegood cheesy team movie. It's like,
just don't write that. Yeah, leave that out. If you're writing for
free form and you feel the needto be meta about it, just don't.
Maybe don't. Yeah, it wasn'ta very good line. No,
it was a terrible line. It'slike they should just cut the line,

(56:38):
just cut the Yeah, yeah, definitely. So then we get back to
We get back to Jeanette, whois approaching Jamie, who like you know,
doesn't want to be seen with herbecause he's her dad's gonna murder him,
and like any he doesn't want tomake things any harder. They tell

(57:05):
each other that they're both questioned bythe police, and he's like, yeah,
well, you know, I'm notworried about it because I have nothing
to hide. Oh he kills me. I'm like, you're really gonna talk
like this to her after you justmade out with her? Yeah, yeah,
I know. It's oh my god. Yeah, And and you know,

(57:30):
she says she doesn't either and hehas to believe her, and he's
like, well, it doesn't matter, Kate's back now and I'm not going
to abandon her, and like, which is okay, Jamie is a fucking
loser. Oh yeah, he's aterrible man. Yeah, But I like,

(57:57):
at the same time, at thesame time, I feel for him,
and I think Fred Gutierrez, who'sthe actor playing him, I think
does a really good job at bringingout his layers, because like it's like
you almost even though you hate thisguy, like you, at the same
time, you kind of feel youkind of feel for him a little bit

(58:20):
because he, like his girlfriend shewas abducted, is back and he wants
to do right by her and believeher and and everything she's saying and support
her and you know, and thatmeans like basically believing her that Jeanette did
this awful thing, and it's likebut he doesn't want to believe it,

(58:47):
you know. So it's just it'syou kind of feel for him, you
know, at the same time asthat you're hating him, because it's just
like, didn't have to punch Janette. Oh god, now, no,
It's like it just didn't have tobe like that. Yeah, it's definitely
like a caught in the middle thing. It's so funny because Pre Little Liars
actually had this like exact storyline withAria and Ezra where like this is like

(59:10):
the late seasons pre Little Liars whereEzra like it's when they did a time
jump. So Aria is an adultno longer the team uh teacher relationship dynamic,
but basically like he's engaged or likehas this girlfriend and she goes missing

(59:32):
on some kind of like like tripand he gets with Aria and they're together,
but then he finds out that she'srescued and she's like coming back,
and it's like, you know, like who's he gonna be with. It's
Aria, He's gonna be with allbut uh yeah, no, I don't

(59:55):
know. I just like Jamie justmakes me. I he just I'm not
over hitting Janette, you know.So it's like I'm that's all I see,
and it makes me angry. Andhe just doesn't have to act so
like shady with her, you knowwhat I mean, because it's like Kate

(01:00:16):
knows what one he's Kate's. He'shalfway out the door with Kate right now,
yeah already, So like yeah, yeah, it just it it doesn't
have to be like that. Also, like she asks him if he can
arrange Kate to sit down with Janette, and he says he won't do that.

(01:00:39):
Yeah, it's I mean that wouldbe kind of weird. Yoh,
yeah, for sure. But Imean if someone's spreading a rumor about you,
like at this point, if someonewas like spreading a rumor about you,
I feel like that's like what youwould do first is be like,
hey, well, can we talkabout this? Is because like that's not

(01:01:00):
true. Yeah, yeah, definitely. But yeah, so it's just it's
just a really like it's just areally awkward scene. You know. He
tells her you can't abandon Kate andhe won't, like he won't get them

(01:01:21):
to talk, and he tells herlike Kate absolutely cannot find out that they
kissed, and she's like, haven'tyou heard him really good at keeping secrets.
Yeah, so yeah, I mean, if you already think I'm guilty,
you might as well might as welltell a little look. Oh my

(01:01:45):
gosh. Yeah, and then hecalls her on He calls her on the
fact that she was the first personthat knew that Kate was missing before anybody
else and like it's like, howhow did you know this? Unfortunately she

(01:02:07):
just walks away, like she doesn'ttry to. Yeah, she doesn't engage
with that, but like didn't Imean they got together over hit him putting
up missing posters for Kate. Yeah, so, but I guess I don't
know. Maybe they've talked before.Then. I think we're going to see
in a later episode. Yeah, yeah, we we see, Yeah,

(01:02:30):
we see it. How we seehim finding out in a later episode?
Okay, so yeah, yeah, because he just thinks she didn't show up
for school and and then he findsout. But so then we see Vince

(01:02:50):
talking to Denise about she's asking himhow long he's known Janette, and I
felt so bad for him because hejust looks so terrified. And oh,
I thought that was the nineteen ninetyfive timeline. Oh I'm sorry, Yeah
that is ninety five, Alight,What am I thinking? Okay, yeah,

(01:03:14):
so no, that's actually it forninety four. Oh right, yeah,
get out of my nineteen ninety fivetimeline, Kelly. We start off
nineteen ninety five timeline with what couldhave been a nice, a nice little
on the road fight, you know, between Janette and Kate. Janette stops

(01:03:36):
at a red light. She looksover Kate's there. She's like, oh
god, I hope she doesn't seeme. And then she looks over again
and Kate is literally looking at her, not only looking at her, but
decides to come out of the carand fight her, or well, you
know, just bang on the window. Here's the thing. I'm like,
Jeanette could be doing the same thing. Like she's like, I'm mad because

(01:04:00):
you're assuming me. Jeanette could belike, I'm mad because you've you've ruined
my name in this town. Like, yeah, they both have reasons to
be mad at each other, butI feel like it's you know, Janette
is also though, it's not gonnalook good if Janette tries to fight Kate.
That's that's very bad optics. Sothank god she's not listening to me

(01:04:21):
right now. Jeanette just wants todrive away and she's just like waiting for
the light to change, but Kateis like pounding down the window. That's
why I'm like, she should havejust been like, oh, all right,
well you're you're outside of the car. I'm inside of the car,
you know what I mean. Like, but that again, don't do that

(01:04:47):
have you ever. Have you evergotten out of out of your car and
anger, out of my car andanger? No, but I've been in
my car and anger. It happenedonce with me, and like, and

(01:05:08):
I knew immediately afterward, I'm like, why the fuck did I just do
that? That was fucking insane. But like, this was not too long
after I had so like I hadmy fatal cart my fatal, my near
fatal car accident in July of twentythirteen, and then in February of twenty

(01:05:30):
fourteen, I broke my ribs inanother car accident, Like I got t
boned by somebody who just like didn'tyield, and so I was like I
was constantly, like constantly a wreckdriving home. And there was somebody behind
me for quite a long way.I was driving home from work and they

(01:05:55):
were like you could I could telllooking in my rear view mirror that they
were texting, because it was likethey were right on my tail, and
then they were way far back, and then they were right on my tail
again. It's like, you know, it's the telltale signs. And they
almost hit me at one point andwe got to a stop light and they

(01:06:16):
were behind behind me and they werethey were texting. I saw them on
their phone. Yeah, I flippedthe fuck out because I was like,
I'm sick and tired of like,I've had two awful incidents and I'm sick
and tired of worrying that people aregoing to kill me on my way home
from work. And I lost mymind for a moment, and I got
out of the car and I wasjust like I didn't even go up to

(01:06:39):
the car. I was, Ijust got out of the car and I'm
like, get off for fucking phone, and I just got back in my
car. Yeah. Yeah. AndI realized right afterwards that that was completely
insane, but but whatever, Ihad a moment of insanity. My friends

(01:07:03):
got in like a fight with someone, kind of like a road rage type
thing where like someone started yelling athim, he started yelling at them,
and then I'm trying to remember it, someone pulled over and was trying to
get him to pull over, andmy friend pulled over and had like a

(01:07:25):
little Swiss army knife and was like, hey, you know, like that
the person tried to follow him home. So you gotta be careful when you
pick fights with people on the road, because every now and then people,
like, especially driving in Los Angeles, people get like real mad at me
for like no good reason or likeyeah, I'll just pull over and someone

(01:07:48):
will be like screaming like expletives atme, and I'm like, what did
I do? Like I literally couldn'ttell you why you are yelling at me.
And it's like every now and thenI want to like fight them,
but you just gotta be careful whoyou pick a fight with, you know
how They're going to reality anyway. So it's nineteen ninety five. The police

(01:08:13):
bring Jamie back to his home. His mom, as I mentioned earlier,
calls it loitering. The cops callit stalking, and Jamie is like really
rude to the police, who likehave every right to arrest him. Honestly.
We see Jeanette watching TV and they'rediscussing her lawsuit with Kate, and

(01:08:40):
you know, the reporters slash likepsychologist says, some people have little to
no moral compass. They're able toblur the lines between right and wrong to
suit their needs. It's not thatthey're evil, it's just that they're wired
differently. Do you think that sheis accurately describing Jeanette here or do you

(01:09:00):
think she's just misunder like Janette ismisunderstood. I got, I got,
I don't know. I got angrywhen I saw this. Yeah, I
I don't think this is accurate towho Janette is. I also think that,

(01:09:21):
like, well, I think shehas Like I've said this before,
I think she has every right tosue Kate for defamation. Yeah, yeah,
definitely. You know, we knowinghow the show ends, you know,

(01:09:43):
we're like, I mean, I'mteam Kate all the way, right,
but but yeah, it's but yeah, there there was. There was
definitely a I mean, yeah shedid, she did have the right to
see her for defamation. But it'slike the way this woman is talking about
a minor who like everything is justhearsay at this point. I mean,

(01:10:08):
it's just it's awful. It's reallyshitty, you know, Like it's just
it's just not cool, and it'sit's that's why I hate so many of
Like, like, there are acouple of YouTube commentary channels that I watch.
I watch, I watch Swoop andlike one or two others, But

(01:10:30):
like most of the commentary channels Ijust find intolerable, Like they're just so
mean and even if they're going aftersomebody who deserves it. It's like that
you could just tell that the natureof these people is to just like they

(01:10:54):
don't care that much. They justwant an opportunity to rip on somebody and
destroy someone's life. And like Isaid, the person might totally deserve it,
but it's just it's just ugly. How Yeah, yeah, And I
just like that's what the scene justkind of reminded me of. And it's

(01:11:14):
just so much more awful because it'sa minor who is still like who still
presumed innocent, you know, yeah, yeah, I do think there is
maybe Like it's just interesting because it'slike this timeline is juxtaposed with her not
even wanting to smoke pot because shethinks it's she mentions like a lot of

(01:11:36):
the things on her list with Malloryas being like raw, this is wrong
or this is morally wrong, andlike it's all morals come into play a
lot in nineteen ninety three, andit's like it just has me kind of
wondering like was that real or wasshe just nervous to do it? Because

(01:11:57):
I mean, the ability to blurthe lines between right and wrong to suit
their needs, it's like, wellthat is kind of true. Yeah,
you know, that's true, andshe and I but yeah, you did
ask me about the the accuracy ofher statement, and I didn't really address
that part whether or not I thoughtI was accurate, and I I do

(01:12:24):
think that Jeanette is wired a littledifferently because like she just gets a kick
out of she gets a rush outof doing things that she shouldn't be doing.
Yeah. I think she's a greatliar too. Yeah, oh yeah,
definitely for sure. Yeah. Imean I don't even think it necessarily

(01:12:45):
means she has no morals, butI do kind of think that, you
know, versus like a sociopath that'slike, well, why would I care
about society's morals. I do thinkthough the description of like she makes whatever's
right or wrong based on what sheneeds in the moment, I feel like

(01:13:06):
that's probably accurate though. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah, and
you know we'll see some of thatlater on too. But but yeah,
it just it was just a reallyuncomfortable scene in my opinion. Yeah,

(01:13:27):
it's really rough. It's terrible tosee her have to like watch that about
herself on TV. No wonder she'sas jaded as she is in this timeline
next, we see Vince at thevideo rental place and he calls Ben and
you know, he's just trying tobe sweet with him, and Ben's like,

(01:13:48):
I should have gotten call her idand Vince says, you know,
he's calling because he's nervous about beingdeposed and he knows that Ben already was
and you know, just wanted hissupport. And Ben says, every time
you call me it brings me pain. Please stop. Yeah, very sad,

(01:14:11):
sad. Yeah. So you know, Jeanette takes a break from watching
TV saying horrible stuff about her toscrub line slam pig off the car.
Greg comes out, not to help, but just to inquire what a slam
pig is. It's like, comeon, you can't you can't guess what

(01:14:33):
a slam pig is. I mean, like, I honestly have never heard
that to her before. No,I think they made it up. Yeah,
I think they gat up, butI've definitely like heard things referred to
as like slam and it means yeah, you know, so like come on,

(01:14:54):
you can't like just sit together. So, you know, Jeanette gives
him a long win Tod answer andthen it's like it means slut and our
dad's like okay, and then hejust goes inside and doesn't help bring it
off the car or give any likereassurance like he's yeah, he's like all

(01:15:14):
right, well bye me. That'sa good Gregon personation. Hey, oh
my god. So then Janette turnson another talk show somebody like it's like

(01:15:38):
a late night talk show doing likea type five on Janette, and it's
like the worst joke. It's terriblewriting, absolutely terrible, terribly written writing.
He would laugh at that. No, no, we would have bowed
him off the stage. That manwould have lost his job after talking that

(01:15:59):
terrible show, Like, oh mygod. So then she flips to a
law drama where a girl is likesaw being on the stand saying she's the
victim. Jeanette puts it on muteand uh, you know, tries impersonating
this girl, which is like She'slike, huh, so that's what innocent
looks like. It's like, girl, just go back to the way you

(01:16:21):
were like a year and a halfago, and I think you'll be fine.
I loved this because I love Ilove it. I love scenes where
we're good actors act really badly,Like I just I always get a kick
out of it because it was justlike, like I'm just imagining when when

(01:16:43):
I was watching this back, Iwas just imagining her like Jeanette Turner going
into audition for a role or somethingand reading that exactly like that Harol,
And it's like I couldn't, likeI can't, I can't help a laugh
every time because she thought she rantedit's just so awful, so bad.

(01:17:12):
Yeah, it's just good. Ithis is where I'm like this show I
feel like kind of needs to figureout what Jeanette's stick is. It's like,
do you do you want her tobe a sociopath or do you not
want her to be a sociopath becauseI don't buy that Jeanette doesn't know how
to look like innocent. I feellike that's like just a bunch of mumbo

(01:17:38):
jumbo, Like it's just I justfind it goofy. I just think that
scene was just a little goofy forme. It's like she just needs to
like let her hair be curly andlike put on her glasses and like be
like I'm adorable. I my voiceis all centered in my nostrils again,
And that's it. That's all sheneeds to do like it's and now she's

(01:18:00):
like, I need to be someoneelse completely because I don't know how to
behave. It's like, what, you're an excellent liar girl, just lie
Like that just ticked me off, scoofy. I also like it. I
don't love how much TV they haveJeanette watching in nineteen ninety five. Yeah,

(01:18:27):
I'm really tired of her, butI mean it makes sense for her
character that that's what she's doing. She's hold up. She's like obsessed with
knowing what everyone's thinking of her, which is a very cindy of her.
Yeah, but I just I wishthey gave her something better to do.
At least we're watching Beauties and buttHead. I mean jeez. Yeah,

(01:18:50):
likes something interesting every now and then, something time relevant. She is when
she's not watching TV about herself. She is reading a book on manners.
She like nineteen ninety five, shethrew like everything out the window and became
a heathen. Like I don't understand. It's like she had perfectly fine manners

(01:19:15):
before, Like I don't whatever,But you know, she's she's trying to
do her best to be a goodlittle girl. So Derek comes in a
room and uh, you know, she she tells Derek she saw Kate and
it wasn't good, and Derek's justtrying to be a good supportive brother,

(01:19:38):
and uh, you know, Jeanettementions a girl from physics named Claire called
for him. Yeah, and Derek'slike, hey, speaking of calling,
you should call mom. Yeah, which is it's so interesting to me because
they're in the family home. Sothen the mom I'm moved out, or

(01:20:01):
at least at this point, ismoved out. It's it's interesting to me
that both the kid, well,I guess Derek must live with Cindy and
Janette lives with Greg. But it'sinteresting to me that Greg got the house.
Yeah, yeah, definitely. Butyeah, no, I think I

(01:20:21):
think Derek's just away at school. But he like, oh okay, yeah,
but but he comes back every oncein a while to do his laundry.
Well wait, but a girl fromphysics class call, Well, I
guess I could be college. Yeah, yeah, okay, So you know,
Janette's walking out the door. Gregdoesn't really ask where she's going or

(01:20:46):
anything. Uh, He's not like, hey, like, don't leave the
house without my permission or anything likethat. He's just kind of like watching
sports and drinking a beer and actingas lifeless as possible. He does confront
Jeannette on leaking the lawsuit to thepress before they served Kate, and he's

(01:21:09):
like, yeah, that was likenot a great idea, And I agree
with him, that's a horrible idea. Yeah, I was. I thought
that was a huge like oversight.I'm part of the writers when they had
that, because I'm like, whowould what That's like not how lawsuits work.
And I'm like, maybe they Imean, they would serve Kate like

(01:21:30):
I was like, maybe because shealready had like a legal team, they
would have just like given it.They would have directed like from lawyer to
lawyer and be like, hey, well here you go. But I'm like,
no, no, no, SoI'm glad that finally got addressed.
And I mean, Greg's like Isaid, Greg is right, she shouldn't
have done that. I'm not sure. I feel like she did that because

(01:21:53):
she I don't know, like becauseshe wanted the the like hype around it,
you know, or like to belike yet even like you're throwing me
in the public eye, I'm throwingyou in the public eye. But it
just makes her look you know,it's like knowing that like if they just

(01:22:14):
served Kate it, probably it mighteventually get on the news, but it
wouldn't have been on the news asquickly as it was. And so like
Jeanette's watching all this like slander abouthere her, it's like, well,
you like brought that on yourself byleaking it. Yeah, yeah, definitely.
She's just like I'm like, well, do you kind of like it?

(01:22:34):
You know, like what's the intentionthere? Yeah, it's I think
she just like I think she wasjust desperate to try to get a different
narrative out there. Yeah, youknow, I I think she was just
hoping that, you know, peoplewould be like, oh, Janette's suing

(01:22:55):
for defamation. So maybe she reallymaybe she really is telling the truth,
and you know, Kate never shenever saw Kate. Yeah. Yeah.
So I think she's just really likeimpatient when it comes to that, and
just wants something getting out there asquickly as possible because she's just like she's
tired of her life being like this. Yeah that's a good point. Yea.

(01:23:20):
So Vince watches her leave the houseand you know, apparently decides to
follow her. He's a good friend, he knows something's up. Sure enough,
you know, Jeanette breaks a window, just like why did you?
Why did you do that? Clearlyshe no longer is Martin Harris's key anymore

(01:23:43):
if she's breaking to get in.But I mean, I just don't think
that's a very wise idea. Butcruel Summer loves people breaking a window to
get in places and no neighbors noticingwhy. Like you know, I know
she got a thrill of going herebefore, but it's like, I'm just
trying to put myself in her shoes, Like I would not get a thrill

(01:24:04):
out of sneaking into someone's home, out of breaking into someone's home, Like
that would freak me out. ButI'm just trying to like imagine that if
I did, I would not wantto go anywhere near that place after knowing
what happened there. No. Also, it's like probably still a crime scene,

(01:24:30):
which is like a whole other itcould be tamboering with evidence. I
mean, it's like not a goodlook that she goes back there after.
You know, Martin Harris has hedied in there too, Like why would
you that haunt house is so haunted, Like why would you want to go
back in there? At all, which she has a justification for it,

(01:24:53):
and I'm like, I wonder ifthat was just a lot events and it's
I don't know. So she breaksin, She goes to the basement,
sees the nailed up windows and stuff, which is like, you know,
from when Kate was there, Iwould be so perturbed seeing that, Like
I would just leave. That's like, I don't know what brings her there,

(01:25:15):
but Vince followers throw down, andyou know, Jeanette tells him when
they played Hide and Seek, shecame down there and had a funny feeling.
It feels like she unleashed something. And I mean, she can't be
blamed for what happened, like, you know, I don't think it has
anything to do with her. ButI'm like, there is definitely a version

(01:25:39):
of this season of Cruel Summer thatcould be like Haunted House, you know,
because it feels like that a littlebit. It does. It feels
like that this house really has ahold on her, like Haunting of Hillhouse
style. You know, the househas a grip on her. She's like
magnetically drawn to it and like thatthings happen. So I'm like, where's

(01:26:01):
the where's the haunted house version ofthis season. I would love to see
that. Yeah, definitely. NowI have a question for you. Let's
say that this were a real story, okay, and that house went up
for sale in your neighborhood and youcould afford it, would you would you

(01:26:25):
buy it? No? I like, okay, I mean that's that's hard
because you know, a real estatein Los Angeles. Yeah, I don't
want to think about how much thathouse would cost in LA. Well,
and it is a really beautiful house, so I'm like part of me is

(01:26:50):
like maybe I would if the priceis right, but also I don't know.
I just like it doesn't sit likeMartin Harry he trapped a girl there
and then also like got shot anddied there. It's like that's a little
bit it's too much. I'm like, maybe like completely bulldoze the whole house,

(01:27:12):
but even then it's still like theland that happened on I don't know,
I totally want it, right,Maybe I would. I know,
I would totally buy it because houseslike that are always I mean they're always
sold it like really cheap prices, and I would just I would just buy

(01:27:33):
it and just try my best toforget about anything that happened there, or
if there was like a more murdertour that like drove by your house like
weekly, I would just be like, hey, guys, what's up,
Like hello, watch watch my YouTubechannel. Yeah, you'd have like check

(01:27:56):
out for more murder topics, checkout immedia. Oh my god, so
funny. But yeah, so sheshe tells Vince she went down there because
she was hoping to reverse things.I don't know why else Jeanette would be

(01:28:17):
down there, like other than toto soak in the horror of everything and
maybe try to figure out like whereKate was coming from as far as like
the view from the windows potentially,But I mean, I really don't know
why she would have come down there, So I guess it must be true.

(01:28:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, butyeah, so Vince, Vince,
you know, brings up that hecalled Ben he was hoping time heals all
wounds. But that also is magicalthinking. So they talk about that for
a minute. Then Vince asked herhow many times she's been back in the

(01:29:01):
house, and this is where thingsget so interesting. She says a lot.
I got addicted to the rush ofit. Yeah, And then the
next thing we see Vince's gatting deposedand the lawyers know about Mallory Jeanette and

(01:29:24):
him breaking into Martin Harris's house andthey ask if he knows if she's ever
been back in the house, andhe lies and he says she hasn't good
friends. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah, he's Vince is really Vince
is super loyal. Yeah, likehe's I mean it's you know, I

(01:29:50):
don't know who's more loyal between himor him or Ben. They're both they're
both a little too loyal to theirfriends, you know. But yeah,
it's Uh. I felt bad forhim because he just looked terrified during that
scene. Yeah, I mean that'sreally scary. You know, lawyers are

(01:30:13):
just coming for you, and he'slike telling a bold faced lie. Yeah,
like the day the day before, like he literally learned that she went
in many times, like the daybefore he gets deposed. Yeah, Like
I can't imagine, Like how doyou sleep at night? You know?

(01:30:35):
By the way, for I justhave to mention it since you know,
I have such a long history asas a Walking Dead fanatic that Kate's attorney
is played by Jason Douglas, whoplayed Tobin on The Walking Dead. Carol's

(01:30:59):
a little like Friends with Benefits inseason six, so I just had to
make a note of that. Andwhat's funny is I think he's actually from
Georgia. Oh and but he hedidn't have a Southern accent in The Walking
Dead, but he's got a Southernaccent in the show, which is kind

(01:31:21):
of funny. I guess they reallywanted the Texans to have accents. Yeah,
they're like, all right, you'refrom the South, he here,
which I don't know Texas is likeas as a genuine well I'm from I'm
from South Florida, so I amquite literally the South. But you know,

(01:31:45):
as far as like Southern culture,I feel like South Florida's a little
bit removed from some of Southern culture, but not all of it completely.
But I feel like, I don'tknow, I'm like, is Texas for
the South like culture? Yeah?Yeah, I feel like Texas is kind
of like its own thing, youknow. Yeah, Texas has a little

(01:32:09):
bit of like the like it's gota little Western flare to it that you
know, isn't obviously isn't in Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina. So yeah,
yeah, for sure. But yeah, but of course, like none
of the Turners have accents. No, Mallory doesn't have an accent, whereas,

(01:32:34):
yeah, Southern accents or for villainsare for female villains in this show,
so not in general, I'm notI'm not speaking about Southern accents.
Obviously I love a good Southern accent, but I'm just saying how the show
uses it. Yeah, No,those are for potty ladies, like yeah,

(01:32:57):
really just joy, Yeah exactly exactly. I'm kind of proud of myself.
I've been really good about not watchingahead, so it's like, you
know, I didn't think it wouldmatter it because I'd already seen a show,
but it's like, no, andwhen you're covering it and you start
watching ahead, it's like you startgetting confused about what episode, what things

(01:33:21):
happened in what episode. So I'vebeen really good about like sticking to the
one episode a week. So I'mpretty proud of myself. But yeah,
guys, let us know in thecomments what you thought of this episode.
Let us know you think would winin a fight Derek versus Jamie. I

(01:33:44):
think Derek would win, And yeah, you too, who do you think
would win in a fight? Yeah? And yeah, also let us know
if anybody recognized Rajo let us know. I'm just curious because I don't I
don't watch Rpulse dr I Grace.I mean I hear it's it's I keep

(01:34:06):
hearing, like I've heard for yearshow amazing it is, but I don't
watch it, so I didn't recognizeher. But but yeah, let us
know if if you recognized her whenyou saw her, and uh and if
you reckon and if you knew whoJason, and if you recognize Jason Douglas.
I want to know if there's anyother Walking Dead fans who were like,

(01:34:27):
hey, it's Tubred. But heactually played a really likable character on
the show, Like he was kindof the I mean, he was boring,
but he was likable. He waslike the he was like just this
really nice, friendly guy in thecommunity that they moved into. Here's like
the construction dude, I don't that'sfunny. But uh, yeah, I

(01:34:50):
