Yeah, but they did something interestingthey I kind of like when shows do
this when they open with something thatcomes later in the episode. Yeah,
the cold open being I said,it's the definition of yas girl, give
us nothing. I know it's somethingcoming up, but it's disconnected to anything

we know about. And I lovethat it just opens the show with a
little dash of mystery. Yeah,clearly something went down and it was not
good. Yeah. Yeah, Imean he's basically just you know, like
I mean, he's he's out.Kenny's out there like a crazed lumberjack,
just whalen. Yeah, just goingto town on this tree with an X.

We were still in the rvy,and you know, the last time
we saw Epan he was kind ofstarting to go into seizures. They hear
some voices outside and they're asking ifeveryone's okay in there, and you know,
they're offering to help, and Jimis thinking, you know, oh,
it's it's the townspeople. They're youknow, there are people coming back.

I think he thinks it's the peoplewho left, uh Contrey and Kenny.
He says they came back and yeah, yeah, yeah yeah, and
boy, it's just like great,I gotta deal with it now. I'm
surprised so long it took them totell explained to him what was going on,

because yeah, I feel like,you know, they it just probably
would have gone over easier if theywere, like, it's maybe it's they
have the experience, not me,so maybe they know people aren't as receptive
to hearing its monsters. I mean, Jim kind of had I think Jim
kind of got the short end ofthe stick there as far as like the
way he found out mm hmm.You know, like it was a little

more gradual with Pabatha Julie. Grantedthey were a little traumatized by being tied
up and you know, having likegones in their faces. But yeah,
by the time Donna sat down andtalked to Tabitha, it was kind of
like the foundation had been late already. Mm hmmm. But yeah, so

Boyd is basically just trying to restrainhim so fast. Yeah, yeah,
he really did two moves and he'sdisabled. Yeah. And uh. Meanwhile,
in another area, Kenny is leadingthe group that he's into colony house.

It's pouring rain. You know thatthe tires were blown out, so
they're trying to make it through therain. And then Jade it's just unconscious.
He's like, so they've got,you know, they've got dead weight
to carry around. Father contries tryingto trying to drag him along with Kenny.

But uh, and then we seesomebody ring the bell and yell Runners
on the hill, Runners on theHill, which didn't make a lot of
sense, Like, I don't Idon't understand this whole thing. I think
it's because uh not to like jumpahead. But Kenny mentions in the episode
later on that the monsters never run, they only ever want them knowing that

their people running means that it's likea life people while they're there. Friend,
Okay, yeah, I was justwondering, like, why why they
were It just seems strange to methat that it was being announced that way,
and like, but yeah, okay, that makes sense. Fatima,

obviously, being the wonderful angel thatshe is, tries to let them in,
but the student standing guard is like, hell no, I'm I'm a
big old coward and I'm not gonnaI'm not gonna let you save these people's
lives. And Donna, like thecreature start, nay, good to see

the show yet. Just watch thefirst watch the first three episodes and you'll

started approaching and one of them actuallytalks to Julie and he's like, Julie,
don't you recognize me? And she'slike, looks at this kid kind
of like what what what the fuckwearing like very old timey clothes, Like
I feel like that, yeah,a giveaway that no, I don't recognize

him, but yeah, yeah,but did you notice, by the way
that the T shirt that she's wearing. I thought it was interesting it says
illusion. No, no, Ididn't notice that. Yeah, yeah,
I was trying to. I wastrying for the longest time to figure out

what was on it, and becauseit looks kind of like scribbles, but
yeah, it's I think I can'tremember. I want to say it's a
bird or something. Maybe then itsays illusion. But but yeah, so
you know, they argue about aboutletting him in. Donna finally puts her

foot down and lets them inside,but she orders Tabitha and Julie to be
tied up because that's part of theirprotocol. And I have to pool obviously
they're freaking out, and Ellis doesn'twant to tie them up because he's also
an angel and uh and you know, Fatima is just like Alice, come

on, we just got to doit. So yeah, it makes sense
protocol wise, like people are goingto freak out, it does Yeah,
I mean these people are going tobe scared either way, Like who knows
how they're going to react, youknow, like they could start panicking and

start they could be like a muchworse Randall's situation. And we'll get to
Randall in season two, but exactly. But so back at the RB Jim,
Jim is asking Boiding and Christy likewhat are these things? These creatures

because BOYD told them they're not people, will try to make you think that
they're people, but they're not.Ethan then wakes up and Christie immediately sedates
him to try to settle in downand then back in h in Colony House.
I by the way that after thatplays, Jim, I loved him

so much in this scene, likehe is really great. Yeah, I
just like I I know I wastexting you like about problems I had with
the character, but I just like, I just loved him. In this
whole RV scene with with Ethan,I thought like he was so great with

like the worry and concern are verysincere. Like I I think he does
a great He really kills this firstand a handful of scenes like yeah,
ye old cast is great but yeah, but uh so back in Colony House,

Alice ties Jane to a bed,and uh, we see Trudy.
It's like one of the most readyto steal. Oh god, Trudy ready
to pull a watch off an unconsciousguy. Yep, yeah, she's uh,

yeah, she's admiring. She's admiringJade and his watch and and she
said, you know, she said, his watch is so pretty and so
is he. And Alice stops stopsher from stealing Jade's watch, and she's
like, I'm just gonna sit hereand look at him for a while.
I get a girl understandable. Yeah, yeah, he is for sure.

So Donna then approaches Tabitha, andI want to point out something that I've
noticed very recently. I say veryrecently, but everything's very recently because I
like just started watching this show lessthan a month ago. But something I've
picked up recently. It seems likeTabitha seems to almost always be in white.

Oh you are, You're right?Like, I actually haven't. I
didn't notice it, but I like, I agree, Yeah, I noticed
that, Yeah, Tabitha is isalmost always in white. And I also
noticed that there there are a lotof rites and like plaids in a show,

and those to be those seem tobe like the only two patterns and
like they're just repeated consistently, whichI think. I just thought that was
really interesting. I haven't any moreattention to the wardrobe on this watch through
because that's something I've just let washright over me. But uh yeah,

So so Ellis makes here to promisehim that she won't touch anything while she's
while she's admiring Jade. But uhyeah, so Donna has Tabitha in the
room that she's being that she's Tabithaand Julie are being kept separate, and
Donna goes to talk to Tabitha.Tabitha is just like screaming for Julie.

I'm sorry, were you gonna saysomething as uh, Tabitha attempting to run
in this scene? Oh yeah yeah, because like you saw the house like
it's a it's a house full ofpeople who are armed. Where do you
go? Like? Right, whatwas the further? I get it because
it's her kid, but also likemaybe you just hear her out she untied

you. Yeah yeah, so soshe's, you know, she's yelling for
Julie. She wants to she needsto see Julie. But Donna basically sits
down with her and tells her,like everything that she's about to tell her,
none of it's going to make sense, and it's going to be the
worst conversation of her entire life.She apologizes for, you know, for

how they had to treat them,and and you know, she cuts a
rope loose. But yeah, andthen like you said, she tries to
make her own for it. Butyou know, she said, no,
Donna said, nobody wants to hurther or Julie and every single person there

has been exactly in the place whereTabitha is now. It's I thought Donna
did a really good job with likeyou know it kind of approaching her with
all of this her that whole sceneis incredible. It is like good I've

said it already, but the actressthat plays Donna is incredible, and that
whole delivery and story is just likehaunting and affect. It really is.
Yeah, she starts explaining the situationin the town and she she asks her
if she believed in monsters, Sobasically Donna, Donna tells her this story

about her sister. When they gotto the town. She she said her
like she and her sister were ona hunting stoup. Donna says that her
sister was like super tough and she'dkicked the teeth off a bear she had
the chance if it looked at hersideways. She explains to her how she

like one of the creatures came up, approached them, and she got out
of the car. Donna's sister mmhmm, and they started killing her and
yeah, tore her face off,and Donna went and hid, and she

hid all night long, and thenseveral hours later she could she thought her
sister was dead, but she hersister started screaming, so basically she was
alive this whole time and they werejust torturing her, which so looked up.

Yeah, I'm not even positive becauseof what do we see of what
the monsters leave behind. Are theyeating anything or are they just tearing people
apart? Like, yeah, it'sreally hard to tell. Yeah, yeah,
I don't think they would be like, I don't think they would be
eating anything because I think I feellike they would want to keep a distinct

separation between the creatures and like inzombies, they just like to cause suffering
downschairs. Victor is getting a canof peaches from the pantry where Julie's tied
up, Victor talks about peaches alot, and yeah, so I know

peaches are so I looked up likeif there's something symbolic about peaches, because
I figured, like, there's gotto be a reason that they you know,
they have him like so obsessed withthese canned peaches. Endless supply of
them too, like they just keepshowing up when but instead of being depleted.

Yeah, yeah, exactly, Ido. We love like he's a
great character an actor. But ifa dude that looked like that came up
to me when I was tied upin a situation started talking about peaches,
I would have had Julie's reaction.It was creepy, exactly. But yeah,

it's in China. The peach symbolizeslonge, which I found interesting.
Longevity and actually immortality interesting. Yeah, and he is the person who's been
there the longest. Yeah. Hetells Julie that two cars hadn't been seen

together in a long time, andhe asks her what she thinks it means.
Julie's you know, Julie's crying becauseshe's terrified. Fatima then comes in
and sends Victor away, and andshe tells Julie, you know, he's
creepy, but he's harmless, andshe apologizes for tying them up, and

you know, she lets her go. She says, they just don't want
anyone to get hurt. She thenbrings him up or brings her up to
Ellis's room with his artwork, whichis really cool. I thought this was
I thought this was interesting. Shesays, I bet he'd love to draw

you, and Julie says why andshe said, because you're beautiful, and
Julie said, that's not funny.I thought that was really interesting. Like,
I feel like this is more ofher like teen drama kind of she's
very cold to thought him at first, like she warms up to her after
she gets her untied and everything.But yeah, you know, I also

feel like satom on Ella's kind ofgive off like a couple spots you across
the bar vibe just a little bit. Yeah, yeah, totally very welcoming.
I like if I met them inperson, I would immediately be suspicious

that that was that was their thingor they were part of a cult.
Yeah. Yeah, they's just waytoo They're way too kind and nicely welcoming.
It's suspicious yeah. But Fatima thenshows her the window, which is

her favorite place in colony house,and she tells her don't look down,
look up at the sky. Andshe tells her, you know it,
if you climb high enough, evena nightmare can resemble a dream. Back
at the ragy, the voice isoutside. Somebody's still saying, hey,
you should have let us help,you know, Like Jim is finally understanding,

like they can't get in, buthe's like, okay, well what
happens. He's still asking questions anduh, you know, Boyd explains the
talisman to him. They can't getin, but they had never tried it
in a in a car before.There's there's a bit of a continuity error

here, in my opinion, becausewe found out later that Boyd should have
assumed that it would work in acar. Yeah, because its in a
cave y. Yeah yeah, Like, I mean he was out in the
open, like basically hiding behind somebranches and they saw him. You know,

Christie's Christy's getting a little rattled,but you know Boyd's but Boyd's doing
a good job of calming her down. They start hearing the footsteps on the
roof, which is kind of freaky, terrifying. Yeah. Yeah. So
back at colony house, there's there'ssome tension. Kenny is complaining to father
(20:14):
Cowtrey about about getting guns pointed atthem, and and Ellis is like,
Ellis tells him that, you know, they've got a room prepared for him,
and and Kenny and Ellis are tostart arguing about who was to blame
for almost getting stuck outside and yeah, yeah, which I still don't totally
(20:37):
understand why they put that down.I mean, the RV. They're gonna
blow the tires out on the rV, but the RV never came back
around because it got in the crash. They weren't expecting the second car,
you know, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, Father
contree kind of kind of settles thedown. So in the clinic, we've
(21:00):
got Gina, who worked there withKenny's dad, who is just the sweetest
dad. I know, he's justthe sweetest, cutest thing in the world.
She says she's not very good atchess, and he tells her,
no, she's good, He's justbetter. And he explains to her that
(21:25):
when he came to America he couldn'tspeak English, but but chess was kind
of like a universal language. Andthen he taught Kenny how to play.
And then she said, and thenyou talk, Kenny. That's really nice.
And he says he pauses and saysBouhan And she said, what that's
(21:47):
that's Kenny's real name. And Kennybasically he wanted to be American and have
an American name. He then startshe then starts speaking in Cantonese and Gina
can't understand him. Yeah, sohe like he gets frustrated and just yellous
(22:08):
and he wants his son, andit's it's so fair. Dementia in this
situation is so extra cruel and likeheartbreaking, like yeah, dangerous for like
you know, I need to keepthe doors closed and stuff. It's terribly
sad. And that actor is sofantastic at picturing it. Yeah, yeah,

for sure, just breaking my heart. I know, I know,
Oh god, I feel like he'sall of our I feel like he's all
of our dads. He's just youknow, he's he's the dad of of
of the entire from fandom. Yeah, but yeah, she assures in that,

you know, Kenn, you'll beback tomorrow. So back in the
argy or Christie kindind of starts.This made me so nervous because she's like,
she tells them, I'm going toneed you to keep him really still,
and I was like, God,this is this is going to be

impossible. And she but she managesto pull the table leg out of Eathan's
legs. Yeah, and it isbrutal. Yeah, He's just screaming and
crying and like, I can't Ican't imagine, Oh my god, huge
crops to their setback team because thatlooked yeah, very so. Back in

the clinic, Sarah is Sarah approachesToby's body and she takes she's she takes
out a scalpel from the drawer.She approaches his body and she's kind of
talking to herself and she's like,she says all of it, and she

starts space. She sticks the scalpelin his mouth and it looks like she's
about to cut out me on.Yeah, she's definitely having an argument,
like she doesn't want to be doingwhat she's doing, but there's some something
that seems like it's just her ownmind, we don't know, telling her
what to continue to do, Yeah, which sucks. And then why don't
(24:32):
you take it away from here?Yeah, for sure. So we moved
back to colony house. Kenny andCowtrey are having a drink that else provided
them at the kitchen table. He'stalking to Cowtrey about basically like chess and
how much his dad enjoys chess,and how good a care Christie takes of

his dad and how much he appreciatesit, and basically saying after the situation
from the first episode with Megan andher mom that he's just barely hanging on
and he doesn't feel like he canfind any more bodies, which understandable.
It seems like Kenny is in avery frail place mentally and it's really sad.
(25:21):
Yeah, no, boy, ishe gonna find more bodies? I
know, but yeah, we'll getto that later. So then we move
upstairs and calling the house and Ellisis coming in his room and undressing without
realizing that Julie is there basically watchinghim. You know what, I actually
(25:44):
realized. I didn't realize it's quiteat firstday in episode one, but in
episode two I really noticed. Theydid a great job with the casting of
Oh my gosh it I just forgotthe actor's name. Sorry, the guy
who plays the guy. Yeah,he looks like Harold Paranow's son. He
(26:11):
really does. Like, yeah,a strong resemblance. He could be his
Like he could totally pass for hisson in real life. Absolutely, yeah,
definitely. He asks where Fatima is. Julie says that she's gone back
(26:34):
downstairs, and he apologizes to Juliefor how rough their arrival was. And
the start of this experience was forthem back with in the room with Donna.
Uh oh, this is the wholesame scene we already talked about.
You do find out that the donnahas been in from Ville for three years,
(27:00):
and uh. She tells Tabitha howlucky she is that it was still
daylight when she showed up and thatpeople came to help her because that's not
what everyone gets when they arrived.And I thought, that's, yeah,
a good bit to pass on toher. When you've move back to the
RV, Christi is cleaning Ethan's wounds, explaining that she used to be a
(27:26):
doctor or she was, uh justfinished. Her dog was about to go
into her residency. Jim tells herthat he was an engineer. He used
to build roller coaster rides, thepick rides, things like that. Just
super cool yes, and kind oflike useful I think in this situation to
(27:47):
have an engineer. Yeah, Ethanwakes up and he says that he's seen
the like of Tears, and he'she is like, they're showing over Ethan's
voice over pictures of what we findout his Victor's room, and then all
the Lake of Tears are all ofVictor's drawings of the things that are happening
(28:08):
around town. And Victor has somehowalready drawn pictures of Julie and Ethan and
Tabitha and Jim without ever meeting them. Yeah. Yeah, this was so
this was so fascinating, Like,you know, it makes me think there's
got to be some some really fascinatingconnection between Ethan and Victor and Victor.
(28:30):
Yeah. Back downstairs, Kenny andCowtrey are very drunk. Cowtrey's trying to
help get him upstairs, but theyonly make it out halfway up and stop
to do some more chatting. Kennytells the story about how his dad had
gotten out another time forgetting where hewas because he has dementia, and him
(28:52):
and his mother had to go findhim. He'd taken a bus, gotten
on a bus and gotten downtown anduh. As they were coming back,
that's when they saw the tree.So they have been there for quite some
time, dealing almost exclusively with theirfather's dementia, which is we moved to
Sarah and Nathan's house, which Iwant to say, I think both actors
(29:15):
are great, but I don't thinkthat they got the sibling note enough because
they have too much chemistry. Sarahand they do. They're like, you
have an off some Lanister vibes.It a little weird to me. Yeah,
But Sarah is showering off of theblood. She opens the door to
(29:37):
tell Nathan that she didn't want todo what she did, but she had
to, and he sees her likebloody clothes all over the floor. Still
don't think he has any idea whatshe did. But in for the rhine,
we come back to the doctor's officemini hospital and the Gina, the
(30:02):
nurse is trying to comfort Kenny's dad, who's kind of having an episode and
feels scared in the building. Shelets him, she puts him to bed,
and she lets him know that she'sgonna go upstairs to check on Toby.
But when she gets to the topof the stairs, there is Smiley.
I I thought it was really interestingwhat Kenny's dad said before Gina walked
(30:27):
out the room. He's like,he's like, when this, when this
doesn't work, the nightmares come,which I thought was really interesting. Yeah,
it makes it like an episode andthat all I'm gonna, I'm gonna
I'm gonna I'm gonna throw something heavytoward the direction of Halifax Nova Scotia.
(30:55):
If this all turns out to beone person's nightmare, agreed, I will
help him launch it together the wrollbuild a Cannibal, Yes, yeah,
So she tries to run, butSmiley and another monster that we have in
the name, but the girl who'sgot like the fifties outfit on your way.
(31:21):
So she runs back downstairs. Butyou know, we go back to
the RV. Sorry, go ahead, so creepy, Like, yeah,
Miley's just so freaking creepy. Man. That kid's always gonna be scary to
me. Yeah, even if he'slike on a wholesome sitcom, I'm not
gonna trust him for sure. Wereturned to the r V. Uh.
(31:47):
Christy is like kind of resting andshe looks up to see Jim removing the
amulet from the window and asking herwhat it does when a monster bursts through
the world and attacks Ethan. Butthen she wakes up and we realize it
was thankfully just a dream, noharm, no fail. Yet she wakes
up to discover that they have madeit through the night and it's now morning,
(32:10):
so it's safe to return. Kennyand Cowtrey return to the RV with
Julie and Tabby. Everyone is reallyrelieved to be back together. There's lots
of hugs, no more bodies atthe moment. It's a very sweet moment,
(32:30):
especially for me. I mean,I know we aren't that far ahead,
but Tabby's relief at seeing that Jimis okay is very sweet to me.
I think that's nice. We goback to Sarah and Nathan's and she
is telling her brother a story ofa girl who's trying to pick up shards
of broken glass. She says shekeeps trying to put the shards back together,
(32:53):
but they keep cutting her and cuttingher, but she knows that she
can get them together, she canmake the thing that it will help her
get out. Sounds like the storyof my life. Yeah, like the
whole thing that she was talking about. I was like, oh my God.
(33:14):
And in her hands were just keptgetting bloodier. I'm like, God,
this sounds like the story of mylife, struggling to piece together a
glass puzzle that keeps cutting you.Yeah, that's familiar. Yeah, hits.
So Nathan asks her what she did, and Uh, all she says
(33:38):
is that she left she she saysshe can hear the monsters, and then
she says she left the door open, which takes us back to the hospital,
where Kenny and kotchre arrive and realizethat the doors are open and immediately
that something's amiss. They run downstairsand see Gina's body in the front of
(34:00):
the basement area that was Kenny's dad'sroom. She's done for. They also
see the wooden chest set is likescattered to the floor. The pieces are
covered in blood. Come into aboutin the back room, and that's where
we find Kenny's dad, who hasbeen pretty horrifically dismembered. Just I mean,
(34:22):
he's basically ahead on top of apile of goo. Yeah really,
one leg across the room Like,yeah, heartbreaking, It's devastating. Kenny
(34:43):
cradles his dad's remains and is somereally impactful heartfelt sobbing. Uh, while
Christie and Cowtrey look on and youcan tell Christy is really feeling for him.
They obviously have i mean, beentaking care of his dad for months,
and they obviously have some kind ofconnection. So it's a hard situation
(35:06):
for everyone. That takes us backto the top of the episode where Kenny
is chopping at the tree and wediscover why. Now, Yeah, he's
cutting a tree down out of rageover the loss of his father and everyone
(35:27):
else. Really he's a express hisweek in mental state multiple times. Yeah.
He asks Boyd where the family is. He tells them that they are
at colony house. He doesn't thinkthey should be there, but that boy
said it's just for a day.They'll figure something out about it. This
is the point and where Kenny mentionsthe monsters don't ever run, they always
(35:51):
walk, and he says it's becausethey know we don't have that many places
to go. We're running out ofroom on the board referencing the chessboard.
Yeah, which it seems like themonsters at least know, you know,
have a better idea of what amuch better idea of what's going on than
anyone else does. Yeah, forsure. Boyd returns to his office post
(36:15):
office Shaff's office situation and takes aboat key out of his desk that says,
does it say too bullied? There'slike a yeah, it says to
It says to boyd with love,but it's boyd. It's spelled Yeah,
(36:37):
it's spelled like bullied. Like yeah, like a like you know, a
booy in the water with a whyD at the end of it. So

I saw him in any kind ofclothing anywhere in the world I would be

that is that good. Yes,he really walks that like line of

would have gone over easier if theywere, like, it's maybe it's they

they're trying to make it through therain. And then Jade it's just unconscious.

on the hill, Runners on theHill, which didn't make a lot of

later on that the monsters never run, they only ever want them knowing that

their people running means that it's likea life people while they're there. Friend,

were It just seems strange to methat that it was being announced that way,

foot down and lets them inside,but she orders Tabitha and Julie to be
tied up because that's part of theirprotocol. And I have to pool obviously
they're freaking out, and Ellis doesn'twant to tie them up because he's also
an angel and uh and you know, Fatima is just like Alice, come

on, we just got to doit. So yeah, it makes sense
protocol wise, like people are goingto freak out, it does Yeah,
I mean these people are going tobe scared either way, Like who knows
how they're going to react, youknow, like they could start panicking and

start they could be like a muchworse Randall's situation. And we'll get to
Randall in season two, but exactly. But so back at the RB Jim,
Jim is asking Boiding and Christy likewhat are these things? These creatures

because BOYD told them they're not people, will try to make you think that
they're people, but they're not.Ethan then wakes up and Christie immediately sedates
him to try to settle in downand then back in h in Colony House.
I by the way that after thatplays, Jim, I loved him

so much in this scene, likehe is really great. Yeah, I
just like I I know I wastexting you like about problems I had with
the character, but I just like, I just loved him. In this
whole RV scene with with Ethan,I thought like he was so great with

like the worry and concern are verysincere. Like I I think he does
a great He really kills this firstand a handful of scenes like yeah,
ye old cast is great but yeah, but uh so back in Colony House,

Alice ties Jane to a bed,and uh, we see Trudy.
It's like one of the most readyto steal. Oh god, Trudy ready
to pull a watch off an unconsciousguy. Yep, yeah, she's uh,

yeah, she's admiring. She's admiringJade and his watch and and she
said, you know, she said, his watch is so pretty and so
is he. And Alice stops stopsher from stealing Jade's watch, and she's
like, I'm just gonna sit hereand look at him for a while.
I get a girl understandable. Yeah, yeah, he is for sure.

So Donna then approaches Tabitha, andI want to point out something that I've
noticed very recently. I say veryrecently, but everything's very recently because I
like just started watching this show lessthan a month ago. But something I've
picked up recently. It seems likeTabitha seems to almost always be in white.

Oh you are, You're right?Like, I actually haven't. I
didn't notice it, but I like, I agree, Yeah, I noticed
that, Yeah, Tabitha is isalmost always in white. And I also
noticed that there there are a lotof rites and like plaids in a show,

and those to be those seem tobe like the only two patterns and
like they're just repeated consistently, whichI think. I just thought that was
really interesting. I haven't any moreattention to the wardrobe on this watch through
because that's something I've just let washright over me. But uh yeah,

So so Ellis makes here to promisehim that she won't touch anything while she's
while she's admiring Jade. But uhyeah, so Donna has Tabitha in the
room that she's being that she's Tabithaand Julie are being kept separate, and
Donna goes to talk to Tabitha.Tabitha is just like screaming for Julie.

I'm sorry, were you gonna saysomething as uh, Tabitha attempting to run
in this scene? Oh yeah yeah, because like you saw the house like
it's a it's a house full ofpeople who are armed. Where do you
go? Like? Right, whatwas the further? I get it because
it's her kid, but also likemaybe you just hear her out she untied

you. Yeah yeah, so soshe's, you know, she's yelling for
Julie. She wants to she needsto see Julie. But Donna basically sits
down with her and tells her,like everything that she's about to tell her,
none of it's going to make sense, and it's going to be the
worst conversation of her entire life.She apologizes for, you know, for

how they had to treat them,and and you know, she cuts a
rope loose. But yeah, andthen like you said, she tries to
make her own for it. Butyou know, she said, no,
Donna said, nobody wants to hurther or Julie and every single person there

has been exactly in the place whereTabitha is now. It's I thought Donna
did a really good job with likeyou know it kind of approaching her with
all of this her that whole sceneis incredible. It is like good I've

said it already, but the actressthat plays Donna is incredible, and that
whole delivery and story is just likehaunting and affect. It really is.
Yeah, she starts explaining the situationin the town and she she asks her
if she believed in monsters, Sobasically Donna, Donna tells her this story

about her sister. When they gotto the town. She she said her
like she and her sister were ona hunting stoup. Donna says that her
sister was like super tough and she'dkicked the teeth off a bear she had
the chance if it looked at hersideways. She explains to her how she

like one of the creatures came up, approached them, and she got out
of the car. Donna's sister mmhmm, and they started killing her and
yeah, tore her face off,and Donna went and hid, and she

hid all night long, and thenseveral hours later she could she thought her
sister was dead, but she hersister started screaming, so basically she was
alive this whole time and they werejust torturing her, which so looked up.

Yeah, I'm not even positive becauseof what do we see of what
the monsters leave behind. Are theyeating anything or are they just tearing people
apart? Like, yeah, it'sreally hard to tell. Yeah, yeah,
I don't think they would be like, I don't think they would be
eating anything because I think I feellike they would want to keep a distinct

separation between the creatures and like inzombies, they just like to cause suffering
downschairs. Victor is getting a canof peaches from the pantry where Julie's tied
up, Victor talks about peaches alot, and yeah, so I know

peaches are so I looked up likeif there's something symbolic about peaches, because
I figured, like, there's gotto be a reason that they you know,
they have him like so obsessed withthese canned peaches. Endless supply of
them too, like they just keepshowing up when but instead of being depleted.

Yeah, yeah, exactly, Ido. We love like he's a
great character an actor. But ifa dude that looked like that came up
to me when I was tied upin a situation started talking about peaches,
I would have had Julie's reaction.It was creepy, exactly. But yeah,

Longevity and actually immortality interesting. Yeah, and he is the person who's been
there the longest. Yeah. Hetells Julie that two cars hadn't been seen

Julie's you know, Julie's crying becauseshe's terrified. Fatima then comes in
and sends Victor away, and andshe tells Julie, you know, he's
creepy, but he's harmless, andshe apologizes for tying them up, and

anyone to get hurt. She thenbrings him up or brings her up to
Ellis's room with his artwork, whichis really cool. I thought this was

Julie said, that's not funny.I thought that was really interesting. Like,
I feel like this is more ofher like teen drama kind of she's
very cold to thought him at first, like she warms up to her after

feel like satom on Ella's kind ofgive off like a couple spots you across
the bar vibe just a little bit. Yeah, yeah, totally very welcoming.
I like if I met them inperson, I would immediately be suspicious

talisman to him. They can't getin, but they had never tried it

Ellis tells him that, you know, they've got a room prepared for him,

understand why they put that down.I mean, the RV. They're gonna
blow the tires out on the rV, but the RV never came back
around because it got in the crash. They weren't expecting the second car,
you know, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, Father
contree kind of kind of settles thedown. So in the clinic, we've

got Gina, who worked there withKenny's dad, who is just the sweetest
dad. I know, he's justthe sweetest, cutest thing in the world.
She says she's not very good atchess, and he tells her,
no, she's good, He's justbetter. And he explains to her that

when he came to America he couldn'tspeak English, but but chess was kind
of like a universal language. Andthen he taught Kenny how to play.
And then she said, and thenyou talk, Kenny. That's really nice.
And he says he pauses and saysBouhan And she said, what that's

that's Kenny's real name. And Kennybasically he wanted to be American and have
an American name. He then startshe then starts speaking in Cantonese and Gina
can't understand him. Yeah, sohe like he gets frustrated and just yellous

and he wants his son, andit's it's so fair. Dementia in this
situation is so extra cruel and likeheartbreaking, like yeah, dangerous for like
you know, I need to keepthe doors closed and stuff. It's terribly
sad. And that actor is sofantastic at picturing it. Yeah, yeah,

for sure, just breaking my heart. I know, I know,
Oh god, I feel like he'sall of our I feel like he's all
of our dads. He's just youknow, he's he's the dad of of
of the entire from fandom. Yeah, but yeah, she assures in that,

argy or Christie kindind of starts.This made me so nervous because she's like,

the clinic, Sarah is Sarah approachesToby's body and she takes she's she takes
out a scalpel from the drawer.She approaches his body and she's kind of
talking to herself and she's like,she says all of it, and she

starts space. She sticks the scalpelin his mouth and it looks like she's
about to cut out me on.Yeah, she's definitely having an argument,
like she doesn't want to be doingwhat she's doing, but there's some something
that seems like it's just her ownmind, we don't know, telling her
what to continue to do, Yeah, which sucks. And then why don't

you take it away from here?Yeah, for sure. So we moved
back to colony house. Kenny andCowtrey are having a drink that else provided
them at the kitchen table. He'stalking to Cowtrey about basically like chess and
how much his dad enjoys chess,and how good a care Christie takes of

his dad and how much he appreciatesit, and basically saying after the situation
from the first episode with Megan andher mom that he's just barely hanging on
and he doesn't feel like he canfind any more bodies, which understandable.
It seems like Kenny is in avery frail place mentally and it's really sad.

Yeah, no, boy, ishe gonna find more bodies? I
know, but yeah, we'll getto that later. So then we move
upstairs and calling the house and Ellisis coming in his room and undressing without
realizing that Julie is there basically watchinghim. You know what, I actually

realized. I didn't realize it's quiteat firstday in episode one, but in
episode two I really noticed. Theydid a great job with the casting of
Oh my gosh it I just forgotthe actor's name. Sorry, the guy
who plays the guy. Yeah,he looks like Harold Paranow's son. He

really does. Like, yeah,a strong resemblance. He could be his
Like he could totally pass for hisson in real life. Absolutely, yeah,
definitely. He asks where Fatima is. Julie says that she's gone back

downstairs, and he apologizes to Juliefor how rough their arrival was. And
the start of this experience was forthem back with in the room with Donna.
Uh oh, this is the wholesame scene we already talked about.
You do find out that the donnahas been in from Ville for three years,

and uh. She tells Tabitha howlucky she is that it was still
daylight when she showed up and thatpeople came to help her because that's not
what everyone gets when they arrived.And I thought, that's, yeah,
a good bit to pass on toher. When you've move back to the
RV, Christi is cleaning Ethan's wounds, explaining that she used to be a

doctor or she was, uh justfinished. Her dog was about to go
into her residency. Jim tells herthat he was an engineer. He used
to build roller coaster rides, thepick rides, things like that. Just
super cool yes, and kind oflike useful I think in this situation to

have an engineer. Yeah, Ethanwakes up and he says that he's seen
the like of Tears, and he'she is like, they're showing over Ethan's
voice over pictures of what we findout his Victor's room, and then all
the Lake of Tears are all ofVictor's drawings of the things that are happening

around town. And Victor has somehowalready drawn pictures of Julie and Ethan and
Tabitha and Jim without ever meeting them. Yeah. Yeah, this was so
this was so fascinating, Like,you know, it makes me think there's
got to be some some really fascinatingconnection between Ethan and Victor and Victor.

Yeah. Back downstairs, Kenny andCowtrey are very drunk. Cowtrey's trying to
help get him upstairs, but theyonly make it out halfway up and stop
to do some more chatting. Kennytells the story about how his dad had
gotten out another time forgetting where hewas because he has dementia, and him

and his mother had to go findhim. He'd taken a bus, gotten
on a bus and gotten downtown anduh. As they were coming back,
that's when they saw the tree.So they have been there for quite some
time, dealing almost exclusively with theirfather's dementia, which is we moved to
Sarah and Nathan's house, which Iwant to say, I think both actors
(29:15):
are great, but I don't thinkthat they got the sibling note enough because
they have too much chemistry. Sarahand they do. They're like, you
have an off some Lanister vibes.It a little weird to me. Yeah,
But Sarah is showering off of theblood. She opens the door to

tell Nathan that she didn't want todo what she did, but she had
to, and he sees her likebloody clothes all over the floor. Still
don't think he has any idea whatshe did. But in for the rhine,
we come back to the doctor's officemini hospital and the Gina, the

nurse is trying to comfort Kenny's dad, who's kind of having an episode and
feels scared in the building. Shelets him, she puts him to bed,
and she lets him know that she'sgonna go upstairs to check on Toby.
But when she gets to the topof the stairs, there is Smiley.
I I thought it was really interestingwhat Kenny's dad said before Gina walked

out the room. He's like,he's like, when this, when this
doesn't work, the nightmares come,which I thought was really interesting. Yeah,
it makes it like an episode andthat all I'm gonna, I'm gonna
I'm gonna I'm gonna throw something heavytoward the direction of Halifax Nova Scotia.

If this all turns out to beone person's nightmare, agreed, I will
help him launch it together the wrollbuild a Cannibal, Yes, yeah,
So she tries to run, butSmiley and another monster that we have in
the name, but the girl who'sgot like the fifties outfit on your way.

So she runs back downstairs. Butyou know, we go back to
the RV. Sorry, go ahead, so creepy, Like, yeah,
Miley's just so freaking creepy. Man. That kid's always gonna be scary to
me. Yeah, even if he'slike on a wholesome sitcom, I'm not
gonna trust him for sure. Wereturned to the r V. Uh.

Christy is like kind of resting andshe looks up to see Jim removing the
amulet from the window and asking herwhat it does when a monster bursts through
the world and attacks Ethan. Butthen she wakes up and we realize it
was thankfully just a dream, noharm, no fail. Yet she wakes
up to discover that they have madeit through the night and it's now morning,
(32:10):
so it's safe to return. Kennyand Cowtrey return to the RV with
Julie and Tabby. Everyone is reallyrelieved to be back together. There's lots
of hugs, no more bodies atthe moment. It's a very sweet moment,
(32:30):
especially for me. I mean,I know we aren't that far ahead,
but Tabby's relief at seeing that Jimis okay is very sweet to me.
I think that's nice. We goback to Sarah and Nathan's and she
is telling her brother a story ofa girl who's trying to pick up shards
of broken glass. She says shekeeps trying to put the shards back together,
(32:53):
but they keep cutting her and cuttingher, but she knows that she
can get them together, she canmake the thing that it will help her
get out. Sounds like the storyof my life. Yeah, like the
whole thing that she was talking about. I was like, oh my God.
(33:14):
And in her hands were just keptgetting bloodier. I'm like, God,
this sounds like the story of mylife, struggling to piece together a
glass puzzle that keeps cutting you.Yeah, that's familiar. Yeah, hits.
So Nathan asks her what she did, and Uh, all she says
(33:38):
is that she left she she saysshe can hear the monsters, and then
she says she left the door open, which takes us back to the hospital,
where Kenny and kotchre arrive and realizethat the doors are open and immediately
that something's amiss. They run downstairsand see Gina's body in the front of
(34:00):
the basement area that was Kenny's dad'sroom. She's done for. They also
see the wooden chest set is likescattered to the floor. The pieces are
covered in blood. Come into aboutin the back room, and that's where
we find Kenny's dad, who hasbeen pretty horrifically dismembered. Just I mean,
(34:22):
he's basically ahead on top of apile of goo. Yeah really,
one leg across the room Like,yeah, heartbreaking, It's devastating. Kenny
(34:43):
cradles his dad's remains and is somereally impactful heartfelt sobbing. Uh, while
Christie and Cowtrey look on and youcan tell Christy is really feeling for him.
They obviously have i mean, beentaking care of his dad for months,
and they obviously have some kind ofconnection. So it's a hard situation
(35:06):
for everyone. That takes us backto the top of the episode where Kenny
is chopping at the tree and wediscover why. Now, Yeah, he's
cutting a tree down out of rageover the loss of his father and everyone
(35:27):
else. Really he's a express hisweek in mental state multiple times. Yeah.
He asks Boyd where the family is. He tells them that they are
at colony house. He doesn't thinkthey should be there, but that boy
said it's just for a day.They'll figure something out about it. This
is the point and where Kenny mentionsthe monsters don't ever run, they always
(35:51):
walk, and he says it's becausethey know we don't have that many places
to go. We're running out ofroom on the board referencing the chessboard.
Yeah, which it seems like themonsters at least know, you know,
have a better idea of what amuch better idea of what's going on than
anyone else does. Yeah, forsure. Boyd returns to his office post
(36:15):
office Shaff's office situation and takes aboat key out of his desk that says,
does it say too bullied? There'slike a yeah, it says to
It says to boyd with love,but it's boyd. It's spelled Yeah,

it's spelled like bullied. Like yeah, like a like you know, a
booy in the water with a whyD at the end of it. So
it's like, yeah, weid thatis important, but we don't know why

yet. Yeah, you know somebodyloved him yeah, yeah, and it's
something he's holding on to from hisformer life. Yeah. To close out
the episode, we have Julie tellingEthan a story Norman has recovered. He
survived, He's back in the Lakeof Tears. That was sweet, it

really was. It was like thefirst nice thing we've seen Julie do.
Yet Ethan isn't really paying attention tothe story. He's staring out the window
at an unspeakably creepy child dressed allin white, and uh, the little
boy that's dressed in white waves toEthan, and Ethan waves back, and
(37:42):
that is credits on episode two.Yeah, that kid is terrifying. If
I saw him in any kind ofclothing anywhere in the world I would be
scared of him, but especially inthat context. And speaking of kids,
I just I have to comment juston how fantastic the actor who plays Ethan

is. I mean, it's notoften you see a child actor that young,
that is that good. Yes,he really walks that like line of
being like both talented and adorable andprecocious. Like it's not he's not coasting

on being cute. He's a verygood actor. Yeah, yeah, he
really is. Yeah. The castingman, the casting department just just killed
it with the show, seriously didso well. Martine's got some comments here.
Will we ever get backstories on themonsters like before they changed they were

people before, right? I thinkwe will? What do you think?
I hope so, I really wantto know what they are, not to
like have any spoilers, But whatwe have learned about them is not much,
and their insides don't seem to besuper humanoid. But I'm guessing that

they had to open people at first, right, That's I don't know,
I'm not sure really that's what weget that information, That's what I think.
But we find out some more informationabout them in season two. H
that is a little bit more likesuper a little bit more supernatural in a

did get like I mean, wegot like a sliver of a backstory in
season two, but it was likea sliver. Yeah, I but I
do think they were people. Andthe fact that they they all look like

I think that must have been thelast time that that place was a real
town. That makes sense. Thosemight have been the original residence. That's

everybody would would be kind of dressedin the same period type of style,

just because it's like you want topause it and see what it says.
Right, So I started googling someof the things in the new in
the newspaper article, and it seemsto be from the late eighteen hundreds,

really massacring some names here, butit seems to be about so this Sergey
de Gay, who was a politicalterrorist in Czarist Russia. He disappeared after

and then moved to South Dakota andhe became a mathematics professor at University
of South Dakota. But this particularpart of the story seems to be focusing

also there was also something in thereabout Abbeville, South Carolina, which is
super interesting because Abbeville, South Carolinawas the birthplace and death place of the

Civil War or of the Confederacy,which is super fascinating to me. Yeah,
some of those guys that are wearinglike Civil War outfits. Yeah,
I feel like there's definitely a heavyCivil War connection with this show for sure.
