Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gut guts.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
It's simple.
Speaker 1 (00:23):
And welcome to cruise about mango.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
I'm excited and today we're gonna.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
Talk about our favorite thring. Three words, two cages, one
epic fucking match. Are you ready to talk about some
blood and guts?
Speaker 2 (00:35):
I am ready for two rings, one cage, blood and guts.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
And I like that you didn't realize you were even
quoting de Malinko for the longest time after you saw
package I have.
Speaker 2 (00:48):
If you are a regular at my work, I've talked
to you because you're like, oh, where are you going? Uh,
this is really cool, like wrestling event to rings, one
cage this whole time.
Speaker 1 (00:59):
And what's cool, you know, being in the South getting
of blood and guts tomorrow as we record this the
history because you know it started out in Georgia and
having some famous war games matches in Georgia. Blood and
guts concept embodying the actual element of traditional to NWAWCW
war games with a roof, with the submission, the surrender,
(01:19):
and we've had some amazing history from Jacksonville to Greensboro,
North Carolina. So we figured we're gonna go over the
previews four Blood and Guts then give you our prediction
for the upcoming Blood and Guts and then talk about
which ones are our favorite, maybe some of our favorite
spots along the way, some of our favorite gory mutilation, raining,
thumb tacks, whatever you want to call it, craziness that
(01:42):
makes Emily cringe faster than you can say Blood Guts.
Speaker 2 (01:46):
But like the cringe is good, not like Darby Allen's
fingernails getting destroyed by Moxley good, but like it's good
Perry getting handcuffed and poured gasoline over.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
So you just try to see men get hands cuff
got it.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
The women are in it too.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
That is true for the first time ever, and that's
a big reason we wanted to go to Blood and
Guts in Greensboro. The second they announced the women's Blood
and Guts, We're like, oh, let's go.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
We had someone in our comments recently saying how they
were missing certain wrestlers and not one of them mentioned
a female wrestler, and I was like, you're not excited
to watch any of the women's division, not one of them. Unfortunately, sir,
do you realize that you're not excited by women?
Speaker 1 (02:31):
It's not even just that. Unfortunately, misogyny and wrestling is
the tales old as time. I mean when you look
at when you have a female wrestler do something versus
a male, they always make fun of the woman doing it.
So the women doing the blood and guts is huge.
It's a great accomplishment. The fact that we've been shouting
for this since last year in Nashville when they did
(02:51):
a blood and guts we wanted to see a woman's
blood and guts, and now they're doing it, and they're
doing a tag tournament. So women's wrestling is about equity
and equality, so why not? So I'm here for I'm
ready to break down these past blood and guts, but
I'm ready to get my predictions in because I got
some tinfoil today for you.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
I'm really excited. I apologize in advance for the notes
I have, but I will not be reading them all.
You're just gonna have to deal with Emily's page turning. Adventure.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Well, that's a good way to segue, because it did
start as Adventure Now originally scheduled for Rochester, New York,
but unfortunately, due to the pandemic and other situations, it
wouldn't happen until May fifth, twenty twenty one, in Daily's
place in Jacksonville. The Pinnacle versus the Inner Circle. Now,
it was essentially set up because MGF betrayed Chris Jericho
(03:37):
and turned on the Inner Circle, forming his own group
with Shaan Spears, Wardlow and FTR. And it was a
short lived little group, but it had some memory moments
from the first Blood and Guts to the stadium Stampede
part de. But we're here to talk about the match
that started out the very first Blood and Guts, and
I will tell you rewatching it. It was interesting because
(03:59):
I had a lot of memories of Blend and Guts
and I realized they kind of blend together after a while.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
They definitely do.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
I mean, I think some of the moments for me
in this one, obviously MJF and Jericho on top of
the cage. You have Sammy Gavar having to surrender to
save Jericho and then mg just saying fuck it and
still throwing Jericho off, and obviously people not liking the
landing pad and everything, but still the visual of a
(04:25):
dickhead MGF saying, oh, you surrender, you don't want to
do this match anymore, and still throwing them off. They
still got across what they wanted to get across.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I think that this match was very revolutionary for AW
I think that it gave a little bit more of
a heavier side to their wrestling. It's like when you're
listening to music and you go from hip hop to
rock to screaming back to country music. It definitely just
gave another edge to them.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
No. I think what helps too is you had people
in there who are willing to get physical throw themselves
between the ring. Like poor Sammy took like every bump
in this fucking first blood and guts. I mean, he
got thrown between the ring and the cage and there's
only like a like what three inch gap between the
ring apron and the outer wall of the cage. He
went there twice like this.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Isn't the only person, but like they will fall between
the cage and the ring apron and.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
The only reason why they fit between it is because
the cage has slight give because the centers aren't bolt
down like the back ends are. And then you have
this scene.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
Is what gives It's not the it's just moving each
chain that is now just going to give you.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
A little bit more as you can see by the
background picture, like you know, you have the pillars of
support pillars, but it's not a lot of movement. And
then you had Santana or Tease doing some crazy spots.
You had you had the Sock, you had Wardlow just
being a powerhouse. And this was kind of the first one.
I think they were testing out how they wanted the
good guys and bad guys because they're kind of all
(05:55):
around the outside of the ring waiting further turn to
go in. I think one of the first that I
said to you is, man, there needs to be a
countdown clock one of these people coming in. And I
think for me, the first the first one, I don't
want to say disappoints me. But there was definitely a lot
of learning experiences. When you go back and watch, you
can see this was a definitely a test run, like
how can we make this our thing? How can we
(06:18):
get to work because there's a lot of like timing,
there's a lot of waiting around, and there was a
lot of like whoa once this person coming in. So
it was a lot of things that they worked out
over the years. So going back, it's a good watch,
highly recommend when you want to see the history. But
compared to the other ones. I don't think it holds
up as well as the other ones, but I think
overall is highly entertaining match. It told the great story
(06:39):
and led to stadium stampede too.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
And that's just it too, is that you go back
and you kind of watch and you learn and you
grow from them. So what we notice is as they
go on, they take advantage of that two on one
or that last person having to be involved to have
the match actually start able to really take advantage. Every year,
(07:02):
something new is an advantage or disadvantage, and I think
that you know, what's interesting is that they had a
tournament this year for the advantages.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
Best the three series ships, and I think that they
should keep that.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
They should definitely keep this going. And also something kind
of ironic with this is that, yes, you get the
advantage of the first two on one, three on two,
et cetera, but that other team gets to start the match.
So if you have someone that's staggering to get in
like Orange Cassidy could, if you have someone that kind
(07:35):
of plays it out and waits their turn to come in. Yeah,
Like there's different elements that come in to play, so
as many advantages as they get there are disadvantage.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
They do book the advantage twelve the war Games advantages
that call it, because sometimes it's kind of hokey. I'm
not going to obviously try to poopoo on other styles,
but you know, some of them will be used more
for storyline purposes. Some will be more for visual I
like the visual aspect, Like when it's a chicken shit
heel who doesn't have the advantage and they realize they
have a two on one situation, like you said, they
(08:06):
don't really want to go in there, or when you
have people who they take their sweet ass time to
get in there because they don't really care. And that's
a good thing about Blood and Guts. As we'll talk,
some of these teams aren't friends. The first group. You know,
you have the Pinnacle and the Inner Circle. They're all
friends with each other. They're all they have each other's backs.
They all came out matching gear, they all came out
(08:27):
and matching they all came out in matching uniforms. And
over the years, as we go through each Blood and Guts,
you'll see it's not always the same team. This one
was a team on team environment where there was teamwork.
That's the hard part of Blood and Guts is there's
not always that teamwork. There's the can they co exist?
Will they co exist?
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Twenty four we saw team a versus Team Well, let's
not jump.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
To that one yet. We still got to go through
a few.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
More pointing out the fact that not all of them
get along right.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
And that's that's even with the second one, because you
have the BCC taken on the Jis. However, the BCC
would also have Eddie Kingston Santana Ortiz who recently so
kind of a twist on the first one. Now you
have the Inner Circle breaking up essentially and Jericho betraying
everyone else forming his own Jericho appreciation, Sidy kicking Santana
(09:17):
Ortiz to the curb. Eddie Kingston would pick up Santana
Ortez kind of form a little mentor trio. But then
you have the BCC who was newer, Claudio who literally
just debuted at Forbidden Door as the newest member of
the BCC, so someone who didn't really have any cohesion
with them just yet the history. And then you have
Addie Kingston who just hates Claudio. He was only in
(09:39):
there because he fucking hates Claudia and obviously you have
Santaniotz who and you have Santano Tees who wanted revenge
on Jericho. Ortiz lost his hair. He had to shave
his head because Jericho put a hair for his hair match,
and that's actually how we got one of the iconic
blood and guts lines is him in the middle of
the ring shave and has had blood and guts, blood
and guts, just like an orange blood and guts.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
So I'm want to go back to that match really quickly?
Can we the hair hair? Yeah? Sure, so that hair
verse hair match. I remember being so dead set that, like, no,
it's gotta be Jericho, Like he's got braids in there's
no way, Like it's gotta be Jericho. It only makes
sense for it to be Jericho. He's gonna get a new.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Which I thought it was funny. I was like, there's
no Jericho shaving his head.
Speaker 2 (10:23):
It's I was like, he's like starting to bald. Maybe
they're going to do some hair replacement, Like maybe something's
happening that we don't know about. She fell for the
swear bro I fell so hard for it and to
see that, man, I didn't know you could do that
with the click and like, yeah, don't do that.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
He did it for dramatic effect. That's why he did
it for That's why he was yelling blood and guts
while his scalps being ripped apart, because he was that.
The story is he was like, I don't care that
you embarrassed me. I'll do anything to take you down.
Me and my homie. You know, Santana did everything for you.
You told us to follow you, You told them to lead,
lead by your learning tree, lead by your example. But
(11:05):
you just betrayed us, just kind of like what Jaco
always does. And that's what set this match up. And
actually this was the biggest blood and guts. This is
the first time they would do six on six until
twenty twenty five, so this was the first ever Men
six on six. It took place in Detroit Little Caesars
Arena the day after my birthday, TU twenty ninth, twenty
twenty two, and our buddy AJ was live in. A
(11:26):
person sent me some great pictures, so I knew where
to get seats from our Blood and Guts. But I
really enjoyed this one. This one had a lot more
chaos and storytelling in this one. I think this one
they kind of figured out the time, and they still
didn't have that stupid little countdown. I was bitching to
you while were you watching these They still have a
little countdown that says when someone's coming in, So that
still kind of bothered me. But I really like some
(11:48):
of the different spots. And the obviously have Claudio his
first ever dynamite and he's in Blood and Guts. You
have Kingston just being Manigaco as ever and just not
wanting anything to do with Claudio, and he's fighting with
him like he's his partner. He only wants to me
be in there because he hates Claudio. But I mean,
he's Jericho, but he has to fight with Claudio, his enemy.
(12:10):
Like you said, he sucks eggs.
Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yeah, And in the very beginning, you've got Sammy being
kind of thrown around, but again very slowly getting back
to his feet almost methodically to eat the time up.
And then you've seen him like through the cage kissing tie.
I thought that was really cute.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
I thought it was too he was he was definitely
healing it up there. And No, they did a lot better,
a lot better kind of not waiting around for comparison
the first Blood and guts match. When thirty three minutes,
this one would go forty six minutes, so they added
two people. They essentially added two people to make a
twelve person match and only went thirteen minutes. More So
(12:50):
that's actually not terrible. I really was sad though, because
this match, Satana would unfortunately tear his acl pretty early on,
and you could tell he really struggled to finish match.
But I give him all the credit. He tried to
finish the match, and that's the risk of any type
of match you take, so it kind of not negated him,
(13:11):
but it kind of you Definitely, you can definitely tell
plans pivoted from some of the spots they were doing.
But you had Matt Minard being hung upside down in
the treowoll in the cage covered in blood. That was
a great visual. You had Claudio's swinging Jericho on top
of the cage, that was a great visual. You had
thumbtacks everywhere, glass, barbed wire, blood like this was the
(13:35):
first one that was truly chaos. It was truly not
anarchy in the arena as a whole, everything, but it
was anarchy. It was They really used not only the
cages weapon but they brought in all the plunder too.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
Yeah, speaking of plunder, the fork being used on Garcia's
face through the cage, that was pretty darly.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
I also loved the ending because the crowd was hot
the entire time, and when Jericho's up there and you
know he had just gotten the big swing from Claudio,
and then Kingston climbs up and you have Minar that
finally got himself free, and he climbs up and you
have both Minard and Jericho's submissions. Kingston's got Jericho in
a submission and Claudio's got Manard in the submission. Kingston's happy,
(14:18):
he's covered in Jericho's blood, He's he's laughing the time
of his life. But that bastard Claudio gets the submission
and not Kingston. So I enjoy that they still kept
that tension between Kingston and Claudio. This has been going
on since the early days of Ring Up Honor, when
they both looked like used car salesman in that awkward
photo with the ducky tie. It's just it's great because
(14:39):
whether it's kfab or whether it's real, it's great to see.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Yeah, And they even like dismantled the ring to get
carnage in this Oh.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Yeah, they were tearing up the padding and I think
that's what made this crowd. It was one of the
largest crowds too in Detroit, and I think that's what
made this crowd so hot was it was such an
electric environment because they've really stepped out up. And props
to Chris Jericho, Sammy Guvara, Santana or Tease. Two straight
cage matches, Hagar, they're stepping up, They're they're increasing the
(15:09):
carnage already knowing how hurt Jericho hurt his elbow in
the first one. Obviously we had injuries, but knowing what
the match entails, they kind of set the bar because really,
this one, I think set the bar for the rest
of the blood and Guts, Like this one was like,
all right, we showed you the first and the first
one we showed you the double cage. We showed you
how it could work. This one we showed you how
(15:30):
to not only use the cage, how to use everything
around the cage, how to fill the cage with plunder
because you're locked in here with some crazy motherfuckers. That's
what this one felt like. It was. Eddie Kingston was like, listen,
I got John Moxley, who's a crazy son of a bitch.
We're gonna load this ring up and I love that.
Even William Regal and commentary was like, oh, that wasn't
in the meeting, like some of the different weapons they
(15:51):
were bringing out, and just you could tell it like
it felt real, like they really hate each other. You
can tell they were forced to work together, but they
made it work. I think this was a true embodiment
of blood and guts, like people working together because they
hate other people equally, like the enemy of my enemy
is my friend.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
And then that would bring us to our former hometown Boston, Massachusetts.
TD Godden, as my nephew Jace would say, the Golden
Elite Omega, Hangman, Aboushie and the Young Bucks versus the
BCC Moxley, Claudio Yuda with special guests Takeshta and Pac
no again kind of that co mingling. You had Takeshtu,
(16:31):
who was really only in there because he betrayed Kenny
Omega with the Don Kallis family. Pac just because he
hates Omega, he hates Hangman, he hates the Bucks, and
he blamed the Bucks for his injury. Er in their
Best to seven series for the trios titles. So again
people kind of joining Blood and Guts because they just
hate the other people on the other side, not because
Pac agreed with the BCC, which is ironic now giving
(16:53):
him the death Rider, but he wasn't on the same page.
And I really enjoyed this one because it would be
the longest one a fit fifty one minutes, but it was.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
It was really fun and you had Don Callous joined
commentary because you had Takesha and Omega in it, and.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Then selling that feud.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Forever, selling that feud it's been eons, which is great,
Like that's what Callous is best at. I think that
he's so wrapped up and focused on Kenny he can't
think about anything.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
And this is really when it kind of first started though.
This was the rise of Dakeshta. This is you know,
Takeshtua go on to beat Kenny a few months after this,
he beat him at all in and he beat him
at all out. So this really was the seeds planting
before you know. Unfortunately, Omega how go injury of Takeshta's
rise and kind of the rise of Don callis family
and a lot of his chicken shit Heel will get
(17:42):
to kind of at the end of the match, but
he had some chicken shit heel this in this too.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
I think this might be my favorite blooding guts because
we get the timer that we've been begging.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Oh my god, Yes, we finally got the countdown when
someone's coming in.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Like I wrote it down because Mango like popped the
second he saw the timer pop up. He was like, yes, fine,
because I knew.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
What happened, but I just didn't realize it took three
years for them to get it.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah, So we have the timer, and then on top
of it, you had Calistoin commentary.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Matt Jackson rained the thumbtacks down from the top of
the cage.
Speaker 2 (18:12):
That was that was epic, and from the very beginning,
Moxley took like shards of glass and poured it out
in the ring, so they were rustling in chaos from
the very beginning.
Speaker 1 (18:22):
And then you had Hangman and Claudia with that awesome
like rope dual spot where they were just kind of
staring each other down.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
And this was all very not that none of them were,
but this is all very prominent. Every guy was big
at the time, like every single guy was main eventing,
so this was like the best of the best of
AW in the ring.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
This was their heavy hitters, absolutely, because you had a
Bouchie debute, Boushie debuting in AW. You know, Kenny kind
of getting that back up the first time. The Golden
Elite really had been a thing in AW with a Boushie.
Hangman rejoined the Elite after, you know, being drunk and
kind of getting kicked out, so you had the magic
of the Elite returning. You have BCC who started kind
(19:03):
of lean heel but they weren't fully healed yet, but
they were doing like heel tactics. Poor Udah in this one.
You became the Sammy in these matches because poor you
to took the brunt of like everything in this match.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
Yeah, he really did.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
He got choked out with a steel chair at one point.
The shoe, all the all the thumb tacks on the shoe.
You love that one.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
Yes, we have a great visual of that on our
page too.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
You also have the better nails.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Oh my, and Cam called that, which is.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
How he goes this is my favorite has the better nails.
We're like what and then he says it Moxley starts
pulling out a better nails.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
Also, when the fuck did he watch this?
Speaker 1 (19:42):
He watched it live with us.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
He just so might be the first one he watched live.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
It is the first one he watched, I think because
it was in Boston, And to be honest, he loves
Kenny Omega and he loves Hangman, so he watched it
because two of his favorites were in it, and lo
and behold, two more of his favorites were, stark being
in the other ones. But I just really enjoyed this
one again, fifty one minutes. This was the longest Blood
and Guts we've had, which is kind of wild that
the six on six wasn't the longest, that this was
(20:08):
the longest. But I think this one because there was
a lot of slow burning, a lot of like almost
torture carnage in this one. Like you said, the glass
the pile driver to the glass. On this one, you
had Takeashta taking some insane bumps that I didn't think
he would take. You had Pac at one point climbing
(20:30):
the cage with his fingers almost like monkey bars and
throwing himself onto people and drop doing double stomps to tables.
It was just everything they could throw each other. They
would literally was.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
Just about to say when Takeshta came in. He came
in with a chair and just fucking nails hang man
like bashes him, not like this, like throws.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
It out almost just like shoves it in his face
as hard as he catch. Yeah, chaos, and it's just
then you notice there's a tension with Pac and the
At one point Pac just says fuck you and he
just leaves.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Actually the match hadn't even officially started when that beta
nails got brought out.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
No, it was That's what I said, Like two minutes
into the match, they put it in the glass and
the nails were before the bell even.
Speaker 2 (21:12):
Rang, and Max went into it per A Boushi, and
then Kenny went into it per Mox.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
It was just I think everyone ate glass, nails, tables, corners,
between the cages. Everyone, everyone took a nasty bump in
this match. And then when Pac left, it left them,
you know, down four and five. And then you had
after Pac leaving, Don Kallas pulling to ketch up because
he doesn't want to catch to get hurt. So now
(21:38):
you have essentially the elite against three people. So they're
strangling Udah and who surrenders. Moxley surrenders and saves you Dah.
Going back, I remember that happening, but keep that in
mind from when we get twenty twenty five. Moxley surrendered
to save you Da.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
And I believe because of my notes, was this Shark Week.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Yes, I never hanging in with a shark hat outside
hang in work too. They all pretty much took turns
to wearing that stupid little fin hat. Yep. This was
Shark Week July nineteenth, twenty twenty three. It was during
Shark Week is when they started doing a lot of
that co branding with Shark Week two, which is kind
of ironic. Blood Guts Sharks works great, oh my. And
(22:20):
then we get to last year's an event in Nashville
Bridge Stone Arena. Fun fact seeing a hockey game there.
When I went to Tennessee, the only sporting event I've
ever seen in Tennessee was a random National Predators versus
Muddy Ducks, and I cheered for the Mighty Ducks because
of that goddamn movie. And I remember seeing Toby Keith
there for some reason, just saying hello to everyone, so
(22:42):
I thought it was a cool memory. Just thought Bridge
don Arena brings back good memories. Speak of good memories.
Blood and Guts probably one of the more hatred between people.
Blood and Guts because you had teammw which was Swerve,
Brisco Darby and the Acclaimed taking on Team Elite Okata,
Hangman Bucks and Jack Perry. And Hangman wasn't there because
(23:06):
he wanted to help the Elite anymore. He was there
for one reason and one reason only, and that was
to take out Swerve, the current champion. He hated Swerve.
This was the met's cheap pot. Go check out our
Go check out our episode on YouTube now streaming Blood
in the Sand of Rivalry and Hangman and Swerve. We
deep dive in all this, including this particular match a
little bit. Why he was so focused the whole build
(23:28):
up to this match. He was like, I'll do it
if I can fight Swerve. He didn't care about that,
and the Bucks had to kind of get him on
the same page, like no, no, no, no no. He's like,
I just want Swerve.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
So the match goes to start, but Hangman actually handcuffs
Swerve to prevent the match from starting, which is where
that advantage comes in. So Hangman starts punching him over
and over again, and Matt grabs them. Yeah, he's like down.
Matt grabs the mic and demands that Adam gets in
or he's fired. And so he comes into the page
(24:00):
and says, I'm an EVP. I say rang the bell
without Swerve in there. They rang the bell.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
So remember this is when the Bucks took over e
This is right, this is only three months after they
attacked Tony Kahn, after Jack Perry joined the Elite. And
again Hangman wasn't doing this because he wanted to help
the Bucks. Hangman Revolution got cost the title, his house
was burned down, he had that match, he wanted Swerve.
(24:30):
This was building towards that match at all out, that brutal,
lights out match. He's still he didn't do enough to
hurt Swerve. Swerve still took everything he wanted to take
everything from him, and he was a champion and that
just shoot at his graw. That just made him want
to take Swerve out. And like Emily said, he basically
handcuffed him the top. Prince Nanna to the rescue to
finally get Swerve in there.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
Eventually, though, after being taunted by the Bucks like Hangman
went through it on the outside to start. Everybody was
getting thrown around, thrown by him into him. It was insane.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
And I just I really liked the original concept of
this is Swerve leading teammatew to save AW because he
saw the excuse me, he saw what the EVPs were
doing to aew. He didn't like it. He was the
world champion, you know. He was trying to find people
who would be willing to fight for him. He found
Briscoe who volunteered Darby, who they thought they were in
(25:26):
the clear with, was like, I'll do it. Fuck you elite,
you know. And he already was in that insane anarchy
in the arena where he set Jack Perry on fire.
And then you obviously have you know the acclaimed, who
were aw originals who are willing to hop on board
for the cause.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Yeah, and speaking of the acclaimed, it wasn't Nana that
got Swerve out. It was Billy Gunn and Jeff Jarrett.
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Well I know, but he brought the tools. But yeah,
and I like that, you know, Jeff Jarrett coming out
to Nashville to get that pop. It was a nice
little moment.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
And to get Hangman or to get Swerve in to
the match. They actually cut the side of the cage
and that would later become a huge element for them.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
It would you have some absolutely crazy crazy spots. You
had the staple Gun party where they were.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Just staplena, the staple guys.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
The staple Gun party, everyone was getting staple guns. You
had Swerve and Okada staple gunning each other, Okada taking
some moves that I didn't think he would take. You
had Nick Jackson super pick Jackson superkicking Boeings through the tables.
You had Briscoe who was just completely bleeding buckets. You
had Hangman just not wanting to quit. You just every
(26:39):
single person was throwing everything they could at each other.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
Literally everything.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
You talked about. So why would that kege come into
advantge when they cut it out? You said, I came
to advantage. So what was what was your favorite spot
about that?
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Ah, there's a lot hold on. There's so many notes here.
I just remember the Bucks being able to go out
and kind of cause mischief outside of the ring.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Because they were able to take Bowenes and Caster out.
Remember they threw bowes off the cage because they were
trying to climb the cage and I just really enjoyed that.
You know again, another one that Okada threw in the towel,
another surrender, you know another. So the way we ended this,
we had two surrenders and two submissions, and I think
(27:25):
that's gonna go hand in hand for our next two
matches that we have because you had Swerve being cemented
as a top babyface in this match, you had the
edp is essentially now being shown that Aw's more powerful
than they thought. You had them all being put through
the ringer just to be essentially destroyed. And then obviously
Darby coughing dropping off the top getting a title match
(27:48):
because we threatened to light Jack Perry on fire and
it wouldn't be until Matt said we quit. We finally surrender,
you can have your T and T title match, because
he was gonna light fucking Jack pan and fire. Now
that disappointed me a little bit because it wasn't the
ending I wanted, but it was kind of a good
way to end it because Darby got a title shot
out of it.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Yeah, so it's a long breath castor with a box
of his own cuffs. Perry to the back of the cage,
Kendo sticks from brisco yelling for him to quit. Darby
grabs a mic. Do you quit? No, let's get this party,
and brisco throws a chair at Perry's head asks again,
Matt begging Briscoe to stop, Darby getting gas can and
(28:30):
covers Perry. Darby smiles and grabs.
Speaker 1 (28:34):
He basically grabs a lighter that like you'd used to
light an old fashioned.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Grill or like yeah, and he says, I will light
your ass on fire if you don't quit, and then
the TNT title threat, So Matt begs and gives him
a TNT shot at all in Darby demands Matt to quit.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
No, that's what I was saying. That he basically got
his TNT title shot out of it. And it was
just absolutely insane everything he did to get to that ending,
and he didn't throw the chair, and he fucking nailed
him with that chair shot. He full on hit him.
It was such a chair shot that it made Jimmy
Cordeira's h It made Jimmy Corderis have a meltdown on Twitter.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Basically yeah, and also I forgot the tables stacked up,
So the Bucks stacked four tables and put bowens in
between them and then start.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Yeah, he threw him outside. We talked about that.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
I don't think we did. Yeah, but he's just talking.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
No, remember what you said the door. They got the
cage down, so they went out there, and Bowenes was
one who went through because I was shocked that was bones,
that was the one who kind of went through it.
Because every year, you know, you had Sammy getting thrown off,
you had Jericho thrown off, you had Daddy Magic basically
hanging by his leg, you had Bowen's thrown off, Darby's
dropped off the cage. There's always been someone who does
(29:51):
something absolutely saying pox dropped off the cage.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
Yeah, I'm I'm ready for this prediction because I don't
know if I really have an actual prediction. I haven't
thought about it yet, but I guess now's the time
to drop these We blocked out somebody's face.
Speaker 1 (30:12):
I mean, Storage, Cassidy, whatever. But so yeah, I'm gonna
ask you first, who's going to win the Men's Blood
and Guts tomorrow night?
Speaker 2 (30:25):
Wow, I can't believe it's tomorrow night. I'm so excited
to be there for this. I think that Team AEW
is going to win again. I think that i don't
want to steal too much thunder on this, but Moxley
is going to be a huge target going into this.
Speaker 1 (30:46):
I don't so much think as him being a target
as him being the reason they cost the match.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
That's why he's going to be targeted. He's been constantly
giving up. I think that if they attack Moxley, they'll
have an easier chance of getting someone to give up.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
I don't think it's so much as that yet. Moxley
has been giving got Max, he's been surrendering a little coyward.
And here's the thing. You have Darby who's already shown
he's willing to go and do whatever it takes to
destroy Boxley. You have Brisco who's crazier than a fucking
batshit turn. You have Orange Cassidy who's reluctantly in there.
(31:22):
But then you have Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong, who
are veterans of war games, so they know wargames too.
Then you have Uda, mox and Claudio who are also veterans,
Danu Garcia who's better one, and Pac So every single
one has been in this type of environment, this type
of match. But here's the big difference. Claudio is not
(31:42):
someone who's tapped out. Garcia is not someone who taps out.
Youda is the bump guy. Pawk's walked out of a match.
But Moxley's shown he's let the Death Riders down before.
And I said this on our page, and I said
this on the video. He's gonna let the Death Riders
down again. I don't know how it's gonna happen. I
don't know if it's gonna be some where they try
to sacrifice you, to sacrifice Garcia. Something's gonna happen, that
(32:04):
advantage is gonna come and play. I can see Moxley
surrendering in the most cowardly way possible, and the Death
Road is just being utterly let down. That yet again,
he doesn't live up to the same thing he preaches. Yeah,
I do see crazy butts. I see Darby Allen jumping
off something crazy high. I see Orange Cassidy do something
funny like a table set up and he just kind
(32:25):
of rolls off the table.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
Last time Darby Allen was at the Greensboro Coliseum, we
saw him go off of a ladder from the ring
into glass.
Speaker 1 (32:39):
It's gonna say he flipped off the head of the glass.
You know he's gonna do something. Brisco bled buckets last year,
he's gonna do again. Both Briscoe and Darby are returning
from last year, so they were just in the crazy one.
We're talking about Orange Cassidy again. I think he's kind
of the wild card here. Kyle Fletcher has done some
crazy stuff games. Rodert Strong's done some crazy stuff of
(33:02):
war games. So I think either way, we're guaranteed for
some sort of chaotic craziness.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
And I think that the Death Riders have team unity
where they're gonna kind of work really well together, but
the other guys, two of them tag team very frequently
for years now. Brisco and I think Darby's the only
odd man out with the conglomeration being in there.
Speaker 1 (33:27):
But Darby is that person. He's just so focused on
Moxy He's gonna.
Speaker 2 (33:30):
Yeah, That's what exactly what I was getting at, actually,
is like their focus is gonna be able to just
kind of span out where Death Riders are gonna focus in.
I think that that's gonna be an advantage is that
they can kind of all five do their own thing
and team up and figure things out faster than the
Death Riders because they're used to that, they are used
(33:51):
to having to defend themselves. They don't have someone defending them.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Oh that's the thing you talk about, Bucks. I don't
think they have unity. Mox is used to having his backup,
but he doesn't back up his boys that much lately
as well. So I think that's gonna be the downfalls.
I think that's what I'm saying. I don't think I
think they have I think they have something that Marina
posted that picture of them all kind of hugging. I'm
just saying, and obviously speaking of Marina first ever Woman's
(34:18):
Blood and Guts. Now, obviously it was shooking up a
little bit due to injury. But on the face side,
you have Mina, Jamie Hayter, Harley, Cameron, Tony Storms, Statlander
and Willow taking on the team, Arena Shaffir, Triangle of Madness,
Meghan Bain and the CEO Mercedes Monet. Holy shit, that's
the lineup.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
This women's matchup is incredible. This is like how I
just said the men's had that top stars. These are
the top stars in the women's division.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
No, it is, And I know a lot of people
are upset about Mercedes and staff being in there, but
think about think about Mercedes for a moment. Mercedes has
literally had a feud with every single woman on the
face side. She literally had a feud with Harley and Australia.
She had a feud with Jamie Hayter. She's beaten Mina
countless times. She lost to Tony Storm, She's beaten Stat
(35:12):
twice and is facing Stat at full gear. She stole
the title from Willow, and she had the match with
Willow in New Japan, so it was always an ass
nine thing people to be had about because she literally
is a connection with every single person. Willow and Mina
have been going to bat You've been calling for a
Willow Amina match since the Dawn of the Death Riders.
You have Megan Bain and the Tribal Madness who some
(35:34):
way shore have been causing rock Shot which for Jamie Hayter,
Queen Ama Nada to AJ and every one of the
women's divisions since April. So every single person in this
match has some sort of feud or connection with each other,
and the fact that people are saying it's thrown together
is just wild and asinine to me.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
No, there's story after story in here and again go
back to the other one that I just said to
all the main stars, this is the main stars, this
is great.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
You want to showcase like.
Speaker 2 (36:00):
I have been so excited. Honestly is they didn't do
Amends this year, I wouldn't have been upset.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
And I think the only reason they did Amends again
is because there is that messogyny in wrestling and people
won't put their money where their mouths are. Look at
the Evolution pay per views, look at some of the
other all women's events that they have. They don't always sell,
they don't always draw it because there's still that old
time mentality that people don't want to watch women's wrestlings
(36:28):
for whatever reason. But they sold almost four thousand tickets
just announcing a Woman's Blood and Guts before they even
announced Amends, And now that they have both cards officially announced,
we're getting closer to five thousand tickets in Greensboro, which
is amazing. I'm so glad that Greensborough is representing because
I can't wait to be there and see history to
say the first ever a to the Women's Blood and Guts,
(36:50):
Mercedes making history again. She was the first ever hell
in the cell, and that's gonna be the first ever.
The fact that she's being the first something in wrestling
is incredible. The fact that these twelve, I mean can
say they were in the first ever Aw's Blood and
Guts is incredible and I'm excited to see history. But
now we to put you on the spot. Is it
Babyfaces winning or are the Heels winning this one?
Speaker 2 (37:17):
It's between Bain and Willow on who's going to win.
I think I could see.
Speaker 1 (37:26):
Remember it's submission or surrender.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Only I could see Marina putting a submission on Tony.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Storm like mother's milk on Tony Storm. Choker out.
Speaker 2 (37:35):
Yeah, yeah, whatever we just said. Tony Storm would love
whatever that was you. But I could also see it
being Christatlander getting a submission over Mercedes. There are so
many different ways that this could go, because again, there's
a story between every woman on here. There's literally twelve
(38:00):
times twelve. There's that many stories. I can't mass. Yeah,
there's sixty four stories going on here.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
Well, I think it's going to be Mercedes getting Statlin
or to surrender to set up that, oh my god,
she could win the title from her at full gear.
I think the Heels are gonna win because I see
the Babyface is winning the men, so I see the
Heel women winning because I think we're getting women baby
face champions. I think TJ is going all the way
and winning the tag titles. So I think the Heels
(38:28):
get to win here because you have the Triangle of
Madness who've literally again been running rockshot Tackle has been
booked to be unstoppable. Meghan Bain has been unstoppable. There
is a lot of issues on the Face side that
could go against them. You have Tony and Mina and
this could be one too. Mina could be put in
something and Tony surrenders because she loves Mina.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
Oh the lovers.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
You know, you have Harley Cameron who might surrender. Chris
Willow's getting hurt. There's so much too, because you have
Marina who doesn't give two shit. It's like you said,
you have the Heels who won't You have the bfaces.
They want to protect each other and we want to
take down you know, these bad bitches because they're rooting
aew But you're gonna have a problem because eventually they're
(39:14):
gonna use that against you, gonna they're gonna isolate someone
and they're gonna make you surrender.
Speaker 2 (39:19):
What if this is where Chris comes out and saves
Willow from taking a chair shot or saves.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
To prove herself.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
Yes, Like, there's so many ways that this could go again,
there's sixty four stories here. I absolutely love all the
different styles of this matchup. I think that this is
gonna be my favorite blood and Guts ever.
Speaker 1 (39:41):
Which now I think we get we have one more
match to get to and then when we get some
fun stats and then rank. But there's one more match
of blood and Guts, which is Hangman versus Will Hobbs
in a falls count anywhere match.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
Come to our section and and will Hobbs. I will
put my hair down. You can play with my hair
if you beat a Hangman.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
So here's the thing. Think about what that stake for
Hangman in less than a week and a half. Yeah,
I don't see he's going against Samojo. This is not good.
It's a false caweer. That means he's got Somemojo lurking,
and he's got Shabbata lurking with Hobbes. So he's not
going to just be fighting Hobbs. He's gonna be fighting
the ops. So do we see hook kind of help
(40:31):
even the odds a little bit to make sure Hangman
the fat anywhere?
Speaker 2 (40:34):
That does make sense?
Speaker 1 (40:36):
Or is Hook a double agent and Hook's actually working
for the ops and she's just gaining Eddie Kingston's trust
and he's just gaining people's trust. That's told you had
some tinfoil. That's that's kind of my tinfoil. I don't
think it's gonna happen, but that's part of my tinfoils.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
Okayoil, Is Hook a double agent? If the Ops are
helping Hobbes, who's helping Hangman the.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Dark order, that would be cool. Imagine it would be
a nice little, nice little callback. I'd love to see
the Dark quarterback.
Speaker 2 (41:04):
Even for a night. I mean, it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (41:06):
Hurt, it doesn't. But I'm gonna ask you. I've ranked
before I give my fun facts to wrap it up,
I've ranked mine, but I want you to rank your
Blood and Guts from one to four. I'll keep track
for you. So starting with your like number four to one.
Speaker 2 (41:25):
Okay, so the first and second one are kind of
like tied in fourth place, so.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Okay, So then that leaves Blood and Guts twenty twenty
three and Blood and Guts twenty.
Speaker 2 (41:36):
Twenty four, Boston takes the cake.
Speaker 1 (41:38):
Okay, so Boston, so twenty twenty three, So Boston's number
one for you, and then twenty twenty four is number two. Yeah,
so I ranked it completely different than you. Number four.
I ranked the first blood guts number three. I rank
blood guts twenty twenty three in Boston number two. I
ranked the blood and guts from last year. But number
one is the blood and Guts from Little Caesar's Arena
(42:01):
in Detroit, because of the carnage and the plunder and
Eddie Kingston, all the different dynamics, I.
Speaker 2 (42:06):
Think because to me see swing up top.
Speaker 1 (42:10):
But no, it's not even just that. It was just
they figured out blood and guts. To me, I think
I think it clicked for them what it was. I
think twenty twenty three was just a little bit more
of the boss one, a little clunky at times. I
thought a Bushie kind of took forever to come up
to the ring, and you could tell he was injured
and missing a step, And I just think that, Yeah,
(42:31):
it was Kenny and everything, but I think we already
had at the time, there's a kind of one of
this ring. We already had the anarchy. I mean, yeah,
the anarchy and the arena. We already had that turren,
so some of that stuff just kind of felt like
we'd seen it before in a sense. So that's why
I gotta rank it. Number one is Blood and Guts too,
and it's in my heart, and that's just who I
(42:53):
wanted to say again, But it's different for everyone else.
Let us know in the comments which one you think
is your favorite, because you could like the one because
of this, or maybe you were at one so you
have a little bit more. I'm sure by I'm sure
after tomorrow night, we're gonna say this one that's happening
tomorrow night. So I fear because we were there in person,
and I think that Skew's perspective. But the fact that
after t tomrnit will have six different blood and guts
(43:14):
matches is wild.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
It's exciting, it's revolutionary. I think that this right here
really really gave the edge to aew.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Alright, so now here's some blood and guts fun facts.
Since you guys all like fun and facts, there's been
fun there'll be after tomorrow it'll be six total blood
and guts.
Speaker 2 (43:33):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (43:33):
The average length is forty five minutes. The longest was Boston,
the shortest was Jacksonville. Only three people have been in
three Blood and Guts. Moxley, Claudia and Yuda Garcia, Poc Briscoe, Darby,
Jericho Hagar, Sammy Satana Ortiz, Matt and Nick Jackson have
been in two, and shockingly, MJF FTR, Swerve, Eddie Kingston, Omega,
(43:58):
Takeshta Okada and Jack Perry have only been in one.
Debuting for twenty twenty five is Orange Cassidy, kyleer Riley,
Roger Strong and the Women's Roster. And here's some cool
records for you. MJF, Shaan Spears, Wardlow, FTR, Swerve, Briscoe, Darby,
the acclaimed Eddie Kingston, Omega and Bouchier all want to know. Moxley, Claudio, Una,
(44:20):
Satana Ortiz are one and one. Takesh Okada, Daddy Magic
and Angela Parker, Pawk, Garcia and Jack Perry are Owen one.
Jericho Hager and Samy Gevar are oen two. Kyler, Riley
and Roderck Strong have been in four war games, once
his opponents and three times as teammates. Kyle Riley is
(44:41):
two two, which is a w record, and Roderck Strong
is one in three. Sting has the record nineteen wargames
matches total with a fifteen and four record, but the
most impressive. Only three people are undefeated in Wargames history.
Dusty Roads and the Road Wires are thirteen and oh
(45:04):
all time in war Games, forty four aw wrestlers have
appeared in Blood and Guts. Thirty two men, twelve women,
Thirty of them have only been in one match, eleven
have been in two, and now, like I said earlier,
only three have been in three.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
I think that's crazy, and that's actually really cool. Who
do you see being like the MVP of.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
The men, Darty, just because he's insane?
Speaker 2 (45:31):
Really, I think Orange Cassidy, maybe not like the top top,
but I think that Orange Cassidy is going to like, Okay,
he's got his backpack. I want to see Orange Cassidy
pulling out like this is craziest shit, Give me oranges.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
We already have a backpack in a long time.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
He hasn't a title, Okay, he doesn't. He's coming into
a cage. He's gonna have to have something. He could
pull the backpack out from under the apron. Orange pack
your bags is coming in.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
The fanny pack and he's just got little mandarins and
he throws him CTEs. Is that what they're called?
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Yeah, a little cuties.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
What do you think is gonna be MVP for the women's.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
TECLA. I think she's gonna do some crazy ass shit.
I think she's gonna hang from the top of the cage.
I think that Tekla is going to be toxic as fuck.
Speaker 1 (46:20):
I was thinking Teckler Sky Blue because.
Speaker 2 (46:23):
Sky has been dying for one of these.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
And Guy has basically shown herself in hardcore matches to
be so asn't Willow and Statlander remember the all out
match twenty we talked about all earlier. Any reason do
you think she does a split and tax again?
Speaker 2 (46:36):
The only reason I think TJ aren't involved in this
is because I see the tag tournament.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
No, if they do, maybe they'll come out and just
kind of like be there. But yeah, I don't think
they'd be involved because the tags are. I think that's
gonna be involved next week. So but I think I'm
gonna We're gonna wrap up so we can let you
guys listen to this. Get ready for Blood and Guts
